I had just started learning the MERN stack and they deprecated it yesterday. Perfect timing, as usual.13
Baby asleep, headphones pumping, beer poured, ready to code my MERN stack application :-)......20mins later still on dev rant!!! :-(3
Me to university: You taught us C++, java, DS Algo and PHP only right?
Me: So our college project must be around these only?
University: Yes... But No, here are your only options for our college project
1. MEAN/MERN Stack Website
2. Machine Learning
3. Data Science
5. Android App
So I have a question regarding what I should learn next. I am going to my 3rd year in college and you can say that I am sort of baby MERN stack developer. Baby because I don't have a lot of production/real world experience. Now I need to decide whether I want to continue to work with JS in web dev. Or should I go to some other language for web dev like . NET or python. Or should I start learning GraphQL, or Machine learning. I am quite interested in blockchain and devops also, but I need to make a decision and please give me advice as to what you think will help me in the future.
I know I am all over the place but that is literally my brain since last few weeks.
Thanks in advance, I'll do a ++ as a form of my thanks.14
Udemy courses are a fucking trap.
Bought one course on MERN stack by a youtuber I like, 10 minutes later I have 2019 filled with everything from web development to machine learning with sprinkles of flutter and react native in their as well
Side note - their 'sales' tactic is extremely slimy practice5
about six months ago i posted that i was accepted into and starting at a coding bootcamp. next week is the last week of curriculum for me before i can choose to be a teachers assistant or finish my capstone project and graduate!
some basic info about the course i took:
- 6 months (3 months web dev 2 months CS 1 month capstone project )
- starts by learning the MERN stack
- includes noSQL and SQL dbs
- transitions into C and then python for computer science
- includes basic security info
- lots and lots of algorithm practice
- lots of job readiness stuff (resume writing, linkedin, etc, but i havent done that yet)
- lots of portfolio-able projects throughout the schooling experience
- previous cohorts have something like 40% (after 1month) and 70% (after two) job placement rates (rough estimate)
let me know if anyone is curious about anything related and id be happy to answer what questions i can! :)6
Alright, fellow coders, I need your help this time <3
I was thinking about getting a full stack developer position after school, with mean/mern stack. (Yes, I love js, but you can hate me for that later)
So, I just got an offer for a front-end developer position that I didn't apply to but was recommended for by my full stack prof.
Everything is great about that company, but! I'm not sure I'm good for that!
My question is: does being a front-end developer mean being good at putting together nice looking website?
I'm good with angular, but suck at material or just CSS in general.
I can implement business logic, but anything more complex than grids causes my eye to twitch.
So, is front-end developer supposed to be good at design part of it or not?
Google says yes, but I got other opinions from my friends, but they are still students too!
All hope on you guys! Thank you8
There are lots of Angular and React jobs here in my area. Very few Vue jobs here (like 1 to 5 maximum job posts I have seen). I'm a PHP dev and it seems most companies are shifting to full stack JS development (MERN, MEAN, NodeJS + Express JS, etc.) along with some mobile development (ionic, cordova, etc)
I have no choice but to study both Angular and React. Supply and demand.
But between Angular and React, I prefer Angular.6
What's the best nodejs framework for the MEAN stack? I need to do additional things to put TypeScript in node js and express. I have seen nestjs with a good directory structure and also uses TS by default. How about meteor or Koa?
Should I just add TS to my existing node and express? Or use nestjs or some other nodejs framework. What do you suggest?3
Follow up on my internship:
>The recruiter told me to use whichever stack i prefer for the full stack development of their e-commerce website.
>I chose MERN stack.
>After completing the project 90% in 2 weeks, he wanted to host it on his shared hosting platform of godaddy.
> It doesnt have shell access nor allows node.js to install on it.
>Now he wants me to convert my node.js code to PHP using Dreamweaver software.... Shut up already. Give me my money and certificate and leave me the fuck alone.5
Choosing between Mern stack and Mean Stack for a project. Maybe you guys can give me some input? Thx 😃1
Got in a great company wherein I will be transformed from php to mean/mern stack. Improvise adapt overcome.
Will apply php best practices in the JS world.
After mean/mern, study react native or flutter. I like flutter but in my company there are only react native projects. Hhmm maybe because flutter is just new. Exciting future indeed 💪8
Hi do anyone has a formula or tips on working on two different freelance software projects at the same time?
Ps: both has same project time frame (1 month), different programming tools: ( Ruby on Rails), the other MERN stack...7
So been doing a freelance project for the past week, small backend API with a front-end, thought I'll give react.js a shot and actually learn it (know a bit of the basics) so using MERN including tailwindcss.
Built the API in a few days, quick and easy. Down to react, not going to lie. Once you dive into it, it's really nice to use. Just tackled a contact form and a few dynamic pages using props, state etc today. Now onto the rest of the site including the the Dashboard to CRUD records.
Still have a lot to learn. But given what I've learned so far. Don't see it taking too much longer.
Famous last words though 😅
So I've been tackling the Multer package with express and react, Christ what a nightmare so far. I can't get anything to work.
- Images as array string in mongoDB check
- enctype on the form, check
- state for the field set to an array, check
- type file check
- express configuration based on the Multer docs check
Everything as far as I can tell is as it should be, yet nothing gets saved.
So in regards to my last post, built up the app some more all tested, working locally. Pushed to heroku, envs set, add-ons added only MongoLab and sendgrid. Go to test, 422 errors on POST requests and JSON parse errors.
Why? How? What? 😂4
