So today my middle company put a meeting with the new HR.
Meeting subject: you can't poach inside the company.
Context: I resigned, and I'll be taking with me 3 profiles.
HR: If you do take them, we'll take you to court.
HR: It's poaching and by contract, you can't.
Me: You can show which clause?
HR: That's not the problem.
Me: Also in France, you need to notify the employee as you are denying his right to get a job. And pay him for that.
HR: What? That's none sense! Stop talking and listen.
HR: We'll sue you and crush you. You'll have so much legal problem that you...
Me: I'll just start recording on my phone, so you say that you accept it and continue your intimidation rant.
HR: What? No!! Stop that.
Me: *stop it* Would you rather have my lawyer with us? Because we'll need to reschedule the meeting.
HR: If you continue that way, we'll tarnish your name and no company will hire you.
Me: You really aren't familiar with IT, right? Because I could delete ALL production. No system work. The BCP will kick in. You will lose one or two days. Then make an article of it, showing what kind of process or security should have been implemented. And I will still get a high pay job!!
HR: You know what? Get out! If you want to go to war, your problem.
Me: Ok, so you'll be getting news from my lawyer by mail.
Me: Yeah, that harassment. And my lawyer will get in touch. And I might also post on LinkedIn. And talk about it in the next events I'm invited.
HR: that's, that's...
Me: freedom of speech. Don't worry I'll write it so it's only viewed as my opinion. Have a nice day.
Two hours later my friend, lawyer, send them a mail and email.
Three hours later the COO calls me. Saying that HR was out of line and that it'll no occur again. It was an error and I should be forgiving.
So now all discussion with HR must be held with my attorney :). And middle company pay for it.6
Alias coworker = high school classmate
This kid wore a trench coat to school every single day and I guess he had a chronic masturbation problem because the guy was caught 3 different times IN CLASS jerking off.
Most people would catch a sexual harassment / indecent exposure / public masturbation charge, but this kid was breaking all these national math competition records and was working with a local university doing research and had a 4.5+ GPA (in high school in U.S. that's possible) so the school decided to do 2 things.
1. Not punish the kid, and in fact nothing of this was ever put on any record at all.
2. Write him a note from school administrators saying that this student can leave class whenever he would like no questions asked, and that the teacher must notify the office so they could send a security guard in order for this masturbation obsessed student to literally occupy a bathroom as his jerk off chamber uninterrupted.
So if in the past 6-7 years you've been in a high caliber university studying computer science and there was a kid in a trench coat "feeding some geese" near you, you can thank my high school.6
So this guy called me. I hung up at the second 'ring'. He called again and I hung up immediately. I mean without picking up.
Please, get the hint, I'm fucking busy. Leave a message, I'll call you back if needed.
But don't try and contact me a THIRD TIME in a time frame of 1 minute. Not through WhatsApp. That's borderline harassment GO FUCK YOURSELF.11
I just wanted to shout out to everyone here and say that I really appreciate how great everyone here really is. I've posted rants in the past on dev subreddits and I've always received harassment for one reason or another. In my whole time here, I don't remember running into anyone who was nearly as verbally abusive as those on Reddit. Thank you all for being you and please continue to do so.3
worst experience with a manager was the (female) one who got away with harassing a female employee for YEARS and thought it was ok because she thought they were friends.
She also retaliated (in ways that were hard to prove), played favorites, didn't know metrics or general business sense, couldn't do her employee's jobs but loved to tell them how they were wrong all the time, and then when she was fired, after the female coworker finally reported the ass slapping and the harassment based on disability, she went back into employee only areas with client personal information and thought taking selfies was ok (she was very quickly corrected and had to wipe her phone and memory card to ensure she hadn't been doing it when she wasn't caught, which cameras later proved she had been).
(I only sound calm. I will take a needle to her probably fake boobs and deflate them with glee if I ever see her again)4
Social media censorship is such a fucked up shithole of bullshit.
Ig thot models post their asses and tits on there about twice a week and it's not a big problem at all. Just turn a blind eye to that.
But God forbid you post something that is vaguely mean or anything political that isn't center to left, and that bitch is getting deleted for bullying or harassment.
I commented on this post and basically just said "your mom sounds like a bitch" but that got deleted for harassment. Is that really what harassment is? Well holy fuck I harass my friends like a few dozen times a day so I should probably get arrested.
Gotta love having speech censored under the umbrella of "pReVeNtiNg BuLlYiNg".22
Here’s a gem from our recent harassment and diversity training at work:
Speaker: “All of these things are protected from discrimination in California! Wow! It’s a huge list, isn’t it? Now let me ask you a question: is a single white male under 40 protected?”
After immediately jumping on all of the other speaker’s questions, you can’t answer this one?
And later, here’s another gem:
Speaker: “If you witness an employee harassing another employee outside of work and work hours, completely unrelated to work, should you report it? What if you ask the person being harassed and she says no?”
Speaker: “Always report it! While it’s not *technically* required by law, you must report it! Why? Because you have the same protections she would! And maybe it’s easier for you to say something than for her.” (Surprise gendering was her own addition)
Fair on that last point, but against the person’s wishes? Totally not cool. Maybe it wasn’t harassment, or you don’t know the situation. Heads up: you probably don’t. Or maybe it wasn’t a big deal at all, but you think it’s earth-shattering. But all that reporting it against someone’s wishes does is create drama and possibly legal trouble. And if it wasn’t harassment or the case goes poorly, you just created enemies for yourself, or for one or both of them if you’re reporting it anonymously, and possibly even ruined one or both of their jobs/careers by doing so. Good fucking job, asshole.
Snitches get stitches.18
fuck you to the tech software engineer who would sexually harass me for over a year straight and would simply NOT GET THE FUCKING POINT that I'M NOT FUCKING INTERESTED.
Worst mistake of my life.16
$girl -pretty -v
you don't have permission to the necessary files (e.g. skills_communication, confidence, ...)
Are you sure you want to continue? This is considered harassment in some cultures and can seriously harm the health of your system. [y/N]
Debian team removed a package "weboob" due to anti-harassment policies. Quick, bring the popcorn!
This is fucking horrible and if this happens at many companies I understand why women leave techjobs.12
First week of being self employed is going well. I’ve clearly learnt from the best start ups out there
Ashleigh: Ashleigh, you’re a shit dev you can’t meet deadlines
Ashleigh: Well you’re a shit manager Ashleigh, you don’t listen to any of the dev
Ashleigh: Well fuck you I quit
Ashleigh: you can’t quit you’re fired
Ashleigh: you can’t fire me, I’ve dissolved the company so you’re redundant
Ashleigh: yea well I’m Ganna take this up with HR
Ashleigh to HR: dear Ashleigh, I’m being harassed by Ashleigh
Ashleigh at HR: sorry Ashleigh, as a start up we don’t have a HR department so we can get away with harassment and grievances. All the best, Ashleigh.
Client: hi Ashleigh, Ashleigh said she’d have it finished by today
Ashleigh: hi client Ashleigh, we’ve had to let Ashleigh go, we’ll update you once we’ve found a replacement Ashleigh
Ashleigh: Ashleigh ashlrigh ashlrigh alscbuddjdhsgs
Sorry I’ve had 553 ml of monster :D think I’ve gone mad...10
This is an old friend of mine, who recently joined the company I work with, 6 months back. And this is what he pinged me with yesterday.
This should be considered harassment at workplace, and trigger social, psychological, emotional, physical and all other sort of distancing.8
We should not tolerate censorship.
Beyond all the u.s. hype over elections
(and the division in the west in general), the real story is all the censorship on both sides.
Reasonable voices are quickly banned, while violent voices and loud angry people are amplified.
I broke out of the left-right illusion when
I realized what this was all about. Why
so much fighting in the street was allowed, both
justified and unjustified. Why so much hate
and division and slander, and back and forth
was allowed to be spread.
It's problem, reaction, solution.
The old order of liberal democracy, represented
in the u.s. by the facade of the GOP and DNC,
doesn't know how to handle the free *distributed*
flow of information.
That free-flow of information has caused us to
transition to a *participatory* democracy, where
*networks* are the lever of power, rather than
top down institutions.
Consequently, the power in the *new era* is
to decide, not what the *narrative* is, but
who can even *participate*, in spreading,
ideating, and sharing their opinions on that
narrative, and more broadly, who is even allowed
to participate in society itself.
The u.s. and west wants the chinese model of
control in america. you are part of a network, a
collective, through services and software, and
you can be shut off from *society* itself at
the drop of a pin.
The only way they get that is by creating a crisis,
outright fighting in the streets. Thats why
people keep being released after committing serious
fucking crimes. It's why the DOJ and FBI are
intent on letting both sides people walk.
They want them at each others literal throat,
calling for each other's blood. All so they
can step back and then step in the middle when
the chorus for change cries out loud enough.
And the answer will be
1. regulated tech
2. an end to television media as we know it
3. the ability to shut someone off from any service on a dime
4. new hatespeech laws that will bite *all* sides in the ass.
5. the ability to shape the narrative of society by simply 'pruning' networks as they see fit, limiting the reach of individuals on all sides, who are problematic to
the collective direction.
I was so caught up in the illusion of us-vs-them I didn't
see it before now. This is a monstrous power grab.
And instead of focusing on a farce of election, where the party *organizations* involved are institutional facades for industrialists, we should be focusing on the real issue:
* Failure of law to do its job online, especially failures of slander and libel laws, failures of laws against conspiracy to commit crime or assault
* New laws that offer injunctive relief against censorship, now that tech really is the commons. Because whats worse than someone online whipping up a mob on either side, is
someone who is innocent being *silenced* for disagreeing with something someone in authority said, or for questioning a politician, party, or corporation.
* Very serious felony level laws against doxxing and harassment on all sides, with retroactive application of said laws because theres a lot of people on all sides who won't be satisfied with the outcome until people who are guilty are brought to justice.18
I feel sick again. I wonder if it has something to do with the beggars harassing me on the rare occasions that I go outside to receive a delivery. The most recent one was a kid who tried to surprise me this morning. Just jumped in front of me with a "Hoy!" then asked for money then joked with "Ooh, you can't joke around, just woke up." This kid was crowding me.
He followed me all the way to the delivery man's position. The delivery man asked for my name, I said it, and the kid started calling me by name. This kid has no mask, by the way, and every time I put distance between us, he moves closer. The delivery man told him off several times.
This happened so many times. There was another instance where they touched my arm several times to get my attention (you can literally feel the grease on your skin) while their master-breeder mother confidently sits on a motorcycle (also without a mask) watching her money-makers do their thing. It's a fucking career choice here and it makes me angry. Parents spawn multiple children and send them off to harass workers and get money out of them. The people who actually work and do good for the economy gets sick or take in more stress than they already do with their real jobs while these motherfuckers sit there all relaxed and shit.
There was another time when a ladyboy (and I do not use that as an insult, it's an actual thing, you offense-craving, pseudo-worldly, ignorant fuck) chased me to the convenience store. He keeps trying to get my attention and asking for money. When I ignored him, he screamed, "You think you're so pretty?!" Dude, what the fuck? I swear, the shit that happens in this fucking country qualify as harassment but of course, you can't call them out because god loves the poor and if you even flinch when they touch you, you go to hell. Weird flex but okay.
These people rule everything. They are entitled to everything. They can harass anyone. The most annoying part is these aren't the real "poor". I grew up in a poor and criminal neighborhood and I've seen people CHOOSE "begging for money" as a career choice. There are even videos about some pretending to be disabled and then running fast when the cops appear.
I just fucking hate it so much how they make others sick and how entitled they are to everything. I'm not talking about the real poor, I'm talking about THESE people. The parasites of society. Now I don't even know what kind of shit I have. Hopefully, it's just terrible allergies. I just hope my boss doesn't freak out and pepper me with endless questions when I file a sick leave tomorrow. They are already paranoid about the virus.48
I actually never felt the need to scream at a co-worker so let's talk about that time a co-worker screamed at me instead.
tl;dr : some asshole boss screamed and threatened me because someone else's project was shit and didn't work.
Context: I was in my third year of school internship (graded) and my experience is C, C++, C#, Python all in systems programming, no web.
I was working as an intern for a shit company that was selling a shit software to hospitals (though not medically critical, thank God) the only tech guy on site was the DBA (cool guy) the product was maintained by a single dev in VB from his house, the dude never showed up to work (you'll understand why) and an other intern who couldn't dev shit.
I was working with the DBA on an software making statistical analysis from DB exports, worked nice, no problems here if we forget the lack of specs or boundaries (except must work in ieShit).
The other intern was working on something else (don't ask me what it is) I just remember it was in GWT before the community revived it. His webapp was requesting the company http server for a file instead of having one of it's java servlet to fetch it (both apps ran on sane server) which caused a lot of shit especially CORS error. That guy left (end of contract) and leaves his shit as is, boss asked me to deploy the app, I fiddle with it to see if it works and when I find out it doesn't then that asshole starts screaming at me in front of every other employee present, starts threatening to burn me in the tech world and have me thrown out of my school for no goddamn reason than the other dude's project doesn't work.
After the screaming I leave and warn my school immediately.
I guess that's why the other dev never came to work.
I had three weeks of internship left, that I did from home and worked probably less than 2 hours a day so suck it asshole.
Still had a good grade because I was reviewed by the DBA and he was happy with the work I did.
It was only later that I realized that what he did was categorizing as harassment (at least in France) and decided that never again this would happen without a response from my lawyer.1
When someone hiring you for an internship harasses you to maintain your code after the contract's duration...
Just stop treating me like a customer service and get on with your project man4
How do I help my colleague in fighting harrassment?
This is the story of a helpless employee facing everyday harassment. Im trying to help. Seeking for your thoughts
Backstory fast forwarded: My company acquired another company. So we handle all their projects and clients now, but its a completely new domain. So we needed new people. Hired 4 employees + 1 team lead to start with. But the project process got delayed and they were free for a month. So i took 2 of them in my project and gave them some small tasks to help us over. They loved working with my team and were learning new stuff apart from what they usually did. And we were also happy of their contribution. We became good friends. All of this was in March 2020 before covid-19 was taken seriously.
About my company: I love this company. I have been in this company for more than 4 years now. People are really nice. Parties and fun events. Lot of smart and ambitious people. So company and people are awesome.
Coming back to the story. Lets call the team the 4 and team lead T. The 4 were happy that someone like T was in their team. This T had all the best knowledge about stuff and life was going to be awesome for the 4. Or was it?
Story starts: So I talk to one of these 4 on daily basis. Lets call this friend F. F is a real gentle person. Intelligent and dedicated to work. F is awesome to work with. And always enjoyed working. F is a team player and very very soft person. F is fking workoholic. So few days after project starts, F tells me work was not going well. F is getting real frustrated at work and not able to deal with it or find solution.
This person T, who was supposed to help these 4, is real piece of shit. He is impatient, arrogant and MFing dick head. Aaaarggggg.
All the good qualities of a leader like supporting the team, boosting confidence, guiding team when they make mistakes, teaching them, were all missing from this person. T was a machine with no emotion and only clock working jerk. I have no idea how T cleared interview process, because one of the interview round is also about cultural fit into company. I know this because i take interviews for other domains. We have rejected lot of such well qualified but arrogant candidates.
So whats the problem now: this team of 4 are learning new tools and taking over the clients requests from old company. Most of the stuff is new for them. So in tat case people need lot of time to understand and figure out shit. people make mistakes while learning and you know have to deal with it. Person T abuses these 4 when something goes wrong. That's one.
Second, the T definitely knows more than these 4. So if these guys dont understand certain stuff they ask T. But T does not help them learn. T will either say busy or run away by saying thats simple and ull know when time comes. REALLY MF???
Third, T does not talk nice. T is rude and does not listen to team members. For eg, If F says some task cannot be done for some reason T will say, "y cant u do it? U r capable of doing it. Tats y u r in this job". And then point number one and two happens. Never responds to emails and messages. But if someone else does the same will not tolerate that and abuses them. List goes on.
So y not escalate and deal with that T:
This person F and other 3 are still under probation and they think complaint or escalation will back fire. These people do not want to lose job in between all this pandemic shit. They are scared.
So this was happening for a while. And i was giving lot of tips on how to handle certain situations. And how one should communicate these.
But being a gentle, soft and workoholic person, F focussed on work and assumed things will get in place as time goes by.
Today, F could not meet a requirement. So T told some shit which got F all sad. and F called up me late night and started crying explaining what happened. I felt real bad. I asked F to file harrassment case. F refused saying it was F's mistake on not completing requirement. WHO THE FK CARES. PEOPLE CANNOT TALK SHIT. I told ill file harrassment case against T. (We have a policy where others can also file if person is not courageous enough). But F did not allow me.
Then after calming down, I told F that telling the problems to me wont solve them. You have to talk to T directly and tell him on face not to talk like this. Or tell the manager about whats happening. Or tell the the HR about this. F said tat cant be done. I was like Y THE FK NOT.
Because the other 3 are not ready to talk about this to anyone as they fear they'll lose job. So if F talks and people question other 3 they might bail out. WAT THE HOLY SPIRIT.
so after lot of convincing F is still not going to
Talk to anyone about this.
So i have decided ill write an anonymous email to HR, the manager and other senior people in the organisation about whats happening.
I really dont know how itll go. Ill keep updating you guys. Feel free to share ur thoughts.3
wtf is this microsoft? https://jobs.github.com/ github meets linkedin... ...did we want this feature? Wondered why a recruiter started staring all my repos... When will the harassment end from recruiters D'X2
My manager keeps pretending to punch me in the groin when I walk past. This happens at least once on every shift. I have asked him to stop doing it more than once, as it makes me jump back and I suffer from a back injury, so it can be quite painful. He laughs about it when he does it, and I am sure he does it in jest, but he refuses to stop doing it. He simply laughs and says he would never actually hit me there, but it’s automatic to jump back out the way.
My friend who is a store manager in another store informs me that because of where he aims, it can be deemed as sexual harassment. Is this the case and what is the way forward?7
Not code related by my boss has verbally harassed me for the past two business days (I recently put in notice that I'm leaving). End of the week cannot come fast enough. And no, we have no HR, yes he's the owner, no it's not worth fighting him for.10
Yesterday, I received an email from the boot-camp that my contract was terminated because of HARASSMENT. They kicked me out from Slack and Github. They're treating me like a sh*t! I haven't done anything bad against them. In fact, they treated me poorly and unjustly. They didn't have an explanation about the HARASSMENT that I've done. Where is the justice about this?25
Ugh.. just realized a sad fucking habit....
> There is something x that i want to understand.
> I try to look over its docs, videos tutorials , but I don't seem to get mind around its basic meaning.
> I can take the usual path of mugging it up but rather i go around it trying to look into its building components
> I would go deeper and deeper but won't really come back to shore aka relate back to x's definition.
> At the end i will just leave my research, mug the definition (approach that i previously didn't took) enough to answer in interview/test
> In interview i will show the curious card : "i am not sure about it, but from what i know the x means this <mugged up def> . I don't really know what it exactly means, but <rambling about that partial in deep research>
>> Result : pass. interview is confused but somewhat satisfied by my knowledge of x .
> Then someday i get to work with x.
> I try to avoid x as much as possible and work reflects it. Everyone gots to know how much of a faker i was. Firing/harassment.
Life gets fucked up just because i got lazy and left my goal to fully understand x
What's worse is that I didn't even recognized its impact. I am always working/studying but never get a recognition/rewarding that other gets due to my work being "halfly done" . And it never impacted me before because i usually filled my reward necessity with those stupid daily rewarding games and pathetic relaxing habits :/
I am fucked up and need to change :(3
Does anyone actually watch the company policy and sexual harassment videos that are shown when you join a company?
I just play them on mute in background lol6
Can we PLEASE once and for all redesign email and texting to be whitelist only?
Seriously, blacklisting doesn't work. We still have assholes that just because they know a line of text or a phone number can harass you forever. It IS harassment and needs to stop. We can always have the option of throw away blacklist addresses, but lets make primary email and phone numbers whitelist only as a standard feature. The business of SPAM would be dead overnight.7
Every fucking time I execute a program I’m popped up with yet another motherfucking update available, then after I wait for the fucking download to finish and the install to proceed I have to ‘voluntarily’ restart the system… and guess what? Windows needs to update now!!! AH! Fucking cocksuckers… If that can compare to harassment was Firefox does its plain old gang bang rape as it now forces the fucking updates.
I remember a time not long ago (I’m not that old motherfuckers) when the only update was a fucking major update namely one that allow software to either run on a new OS or work at all. Not a goddamned typo fix on the about page… FUCK OFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!!!2
I don't know if its just me, but today I notice that Facebooks notification list has shrunk considerably and only displays the last 61 items, I wonder why ?
The only thing I've done differently in the last 24 hours was report two posts for harassment..
Not against me, but someone else !
Facebook responded back pretty quickly within a few hours, rather than weeks, but in neither case did they agree with my view that posting pictures of someone's underwear with derogatory comments was harassment.
So, maybe if you complain, they limit your notification list so you can't see so much to complain about..
Or it was just coincidence and they just happened to shorten everyone's notification list..8
