Search - "high cpu"
Great! If all goes well, I'll finally be building my new PC on Tuesday night or Wednesday.
I already have:
GPU: 8GB Asus GeForce GTX 1070 Dual OC
Mainboard: Asus Prime 370-A
System SSD: 256GB Samsung PM961 M.2 2280
OTHER SSD: a 512GB Transcend from 2014 that still works perfectly.
And I'll receive on Tuesday/Wednesday:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 1700X
RAM: 16GB (2x 8192MB) G.Skill Flare X
CPU cooler: Ben Nevis ADVANCED
PSU: 650 Watt EVGA SuperNOVA 650GQ Modular 80+ Gold
Case: Fractal Design Define R5 Black
I saved 70(!) EUR on the GPU, so that it was actually almost as cheap as getting a good 1060 and I saved 40 EUR on the 1700X via a coupon code, so that it was even cheaper than the 1700, that's why I went for the Flare X RAM (CL14 timing), instead of going for a different but cheaper G.Skill RAM (CL16 timing).
This system should make 1080p gaming work with high ass framerates, which is all I want.
Next month I'll be adding some case fans, after determining the best possible air flow for my setup. I'm not going to "showcase" my build, it's just supposed to be as fast and quiet as possible, so I don't care about fancy RGB lighting, even if the MB offers that.
I'm gonna add an AIO water cooler in a few months as well as a two or three terabyte HDD.
Any ideas what I could have done better? Also post your own setup, if you like.50
The company i work for has a jenkins server (for people that don't know jenkins, it's an automated build service that gets the latest git updates, pulls them and then builds, tests and deploys it)
Because it builds the software, people were scared to update it so we were running version 1.x for a long time, even when an exploit was found... Ooh boy did they learn from that...
The jenkins server had a hidden crypto miner running for about 5 days...
I don't know why we don't have detectors for that stuff... (like cpu load being high for 15 minutes)
I even tried to strengthen our security... You know basic stuff LIKE NOT SAVING PASSWORDS TO A GOOGLE SPREADSHEET! 😠
But they shoved it asside because they didn't have time... I tried multiple times but in the end i just gave up...15
What would your ideal phone be like?
128gb High speed storage
Snapdragon 835 CPU
Samsung S8 Camera, three lenses all on back(no front), normal, monochrome, and blur thingy, if possible xD
Screen covering most of the body and slight curves
Fingerprint reader (if can make secure) on the back in a good position
Nice design but grippy back material
Super AMOLED screen
Possibly another screen(flip screen), because multitasking, like the ZTE M Axon
Lineage OS Android 8.0 and GApps optional30
guys maybe its sounds funny but im student at high school 1st class and dont have too much money and i need some good notebook for school about 300-400€ will be happy for any idea thanks
(not intel HD graphics) not integrated and at least 2.00Ghz CPU and 4Gb RAM minimum16
This is a guide for technology noobies who wants to buy a laptop but have no idea what the SPECS are meaning.
If you like Apple, and love their !sleek design, go to the nearest Apple store and tell them "I want to buy one. Recommendations?"
If you don't like Apple, well, buy anything that fits you. Read more below.
There are 11~15 inches, weight is 850g ~ 2+kg. Very many options. Buy whatever you like.
//Fun part coming
This is the power of the brain.
Pentium is Elementary Schoolers
i3 is Middle Schoolers
i5 is High Schoolers
i7 is University People
Dual-core is 2 people
Quad-core is 4 people
Quiz! What is i5 Dual-core?
A) 2 High Schoolers.
Easy peasy, right?
Now if you have a smartphone and ONLY use Messaging, Phone, and Whatsapp (lol), you can buy Pentium laptops.
If not, I recommend at least i3
Also, there are numbers behind those CPU, like i3-6100
6 means 6th generaton.
If the numbers are bigger, it is the most recent generation.
Think of 6xxx as Stone age people
7xxx as Bronze age people
8xxx as Iron age people
and so one.
This is the size of the desk.
There are 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB, and so one.
Think of 4GB as small desk to only put one book on it.
8GB as a desk to put a laptop with a keyboard and a mouse.
16GB as a normal sized desk to put some books, laptop, and food.
32GB as a boss sized desk.
And so one.
When you do multitasking, and the desk is too small...
You don't feel comfortable right?
It is good when there are spacious space.
Same with RAM.
But when the desk becomes larger, it gets expensive, so buy the one with the affordable price.
If you watch some YouTube videos in Chrome and do some document words with Office, buy at least 8GB. 16GB is recommended.
You take out the stuffs such as books and laptop from the basket (HDD/SSD), and put in your desk (RAM).
There are two kinds of baskets.
The super big ones, but because it is so big, it is bulky and hard to get stuffs out of the basket. But it is cheap. (HDD)
There are a bit smaller ones but expensive compared to the HDD, it is called SSD. This basket is right next to you, and it is super easy to get stuffs out of this basket. The opening time is faster as well.
SSDs were expensive, but as times go, it gets bigger as well, and cheaper. So most laptops are SSD these days.
There are 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1024GB(=1TB), and so one. You can buy what you want. Recommend 256GB for normal use.
Game guy? At least 512GB.
It is the eyesight.
Most computers doesn't have dedicated graphics card, it comes with the CPU. Intel CPUs has CPU + graphics, but the graphics powered by Intel isn't that good.
But NVIDIA graphics cards are great. Recommended for gamers. But it is a bit more expensive.
Buying a laptop is
- Pick the person and the person's clothes (brand and design)
- Pick the space for the person to stay (RAM, SSD/HDD)
- Pick how smart they are (CPU)
- Pick how many (Core)
- Pick the generation (6xxx, 7xxx ....)
- Pick their eyesight (graphics)
And that's pretty much it.
Super easy to buy a laptop right?

CPU : AMD or Intel ?
GPU : AMD or Nvidia ?
I want to build a High-end PC (Desktop).19
Windows 10 - service host high cpu usage
Stop the superfetch service and it would be down to normal.
You should checkout the description of the superfetch service... Lol ):D3
Whoops, my head will be squashed tomorrow. Asked to put monitoring in other week by boss, sysadmin been complaining about high CPU, apparently 10 requests (different domains) to the one VM on our servers every 10 seconds is killing it. However this server is being used for MySQL and serving web requests by Apache and PHP. Then also running a few jobs like consuming queues etc.
Wtf do I do? Every time I tell him about more resources (we have decent 2 rack servers just running 20 vms and only 1 VM is for web sites) he says software should be made to work with what we have.1
When you have high performance set, yet your lame CPU won't get above 0.75Ghz, so you have to constantly reboot to hit the 3.50Ghz jackpot1
I need a powerhouse laptop: top CPU, loads of RAM and a decent GPU to run games occasionally (doesn't have to be ultra high graphics). Any brand recommendations? I love building computers, but buying laptops is really overwhelming.17
So I put my dual boot back yesterday, added windows to a second partition.
Its been one day.
Windows has already broken on me. Also my CPU is capped at an incorrect frequency and the cpu turbo I found has been disabled.
Its been one day. ONE DAY with Windows and it has already shit out on me. Also these boot times are complete garbage, and what the fuck is this 'needs to restart to update' garbage. What once was 120fps off integrated graphics for gamin on high is now 50 on low. AND WHY IS MY RAM AND CPU SO FLOODED!?!? Seriously I've never seen my cpu go over 20% and ram go over 4GB (25%), but Windows needs that much running idle? And why is this OS so goddamn slow, if I click start, why do I have to wait for the start menu? Linux I just start typing and it works! Also, why are all the settings and features blocked? I cant do basic modifications to the OS? Where is the option to have my scripts? I don't wanna have to actually use my computer to use it, and Linux provides that functionality with scripts.
ITS AN I7 WITH 16GB RAM AND A TB OF STORAGE WHY DOES WINDOWS STRUGGLE TO RUN!
last but not least, the struggle I had to go through to actually add windows? You need windows software to create a bootable windows USB and prerequisites include the computer is already setup for Windows. How about Linux? Well, Linux like doesn't even care if it's even being plugged into a computer, you can pretty much shove a Linux USB up your ass and it'll still install.3
Please tell me there's an alternative to speedfan than lets me set up a custom curve for fan speeds. At the minute it's either constant server level noise. Or adjusting speeds manually every time i want to do something that requires high CPU load and putting them back to acceptable idle noise levels afterwards
spent a few days trying to track down the cause of a thermal shutdown in my workstation. intel 4790k with no overclock would spike to 95C on one core (core1) whenever maxing out all 8 threads, be it real work, mprime, anything with 100% cpu being used. I quadrupled my RAM from 8gb to 32, because its cheap and id like to have all data in memory sometimes, not because I thought that was the problem. I reseated my watercooling block. I checked out the PSU. I unplugged all unnecessary peripherals, drives, etc. It turned out to be a bug in Gigabyte MOBO BIOS (causing temps to be read incorrectly i think, still not exactly sure...) updated from version 5 to 10 and poof now temps are back in the high 50's at full load. it only took 2 days to figure out and i think i learned something
