Me: Can I have PhpStorm please.
Company: Is it free?
Me: No, but it's the best php IDE out there. It's a huge productivity boost and also helps avoiding bugs while refactoring.
Company: Nope. Use Zend Studio 9.
Me: Why?
Company: We paid money for it like two years ago.
Me: <contemplating life and my decision to ever work there>
To whomever it may concern: Zend Studio is the commercial brother of Eclipse PDT, which also is one of the most shittiest idea out there. Almost as bad as Netbeans for php.
You have all the problems you had with eclipse, and none of the features of phpstorm. Zend Studio does not help you to get work done. It is a constant hindrance, everything you achieve you achieve despite its usage.19 -
My phone autocorrect "Netbeans" to "Jetbrains". Was frustrating on the moment, but in the end I feel okay with that8

When you start a job and they tell you to put your nice laptop away, because you'll have to work on a company provided laptop running Windows 7 in a constricted environment on a project using Svn. And to top it off they tell you to trade in your IntelliJ for NetBeans.
Did I just travel back in time?13 -
*sees a hint suggestion in Netbeans*
*Alt + Enter*
"Hmm, makes sense. "
*Chooses suggestion but error line still pertains*
"Eh...."
*Alt + Enter confusingly*
*sees a suggestion that changes everything back to original*
TFW IDE plays with you more than your girlfriend :(4 -
Visual Studio Code.
I've tried you because of hearing a lot of good stuff about you. I'd switch back to netbeans regardless because I love netbeans and I always try to use as little as possible from companies like Google/microsoft/facebook (and others) but what you're pulling right now is un-fucking-believable.
I've disabled ANY AND EVERY form of calling home I could (find) in your settings. Crash reports, automatic updates, metrics, you name it. I've searched all the fucking settings but I can't find any other home calling thing that's enabled and yet:
I'm monitoring every goddamn DNS request (through my own DNS server) and I'm still seeing calls to a Microsoft owned domain. Closed all my browser sessions and you as well and it stopped. Started browser again but not you, nothing.
Started you again: BAM. Calls to that damned Microsoft owned domain again.
If you can't honour my decision for disabling any form of home calls, go fuck yourself.
Netbeans, I'm back, I've missed you 💜35 -
Eclipse is buggy they said.
Install NetBeans instead they said.
So this is the first impression :D11 -
That moment when the practical work supervisor don't understand why you don't use netbeans because he thinks that MongoDB is a netbeans plugin.2

Our school like:
School: hey everyone! Today we are learning java.
We: But we can Java and we already read the whole book
School: So ok! Let's do Java for 4 months!
We: What the... c'mon that makes no sense!
School: ...
We: ...
*After 4 months*
School: So class lets write a exam in java!
We: oh boy! this is nice!
School: Open your VM!
*Everyone started theyr VM and opened Eclipse*
School: Aaaaand now open NetBeans!
We: Holy Moly Crap! Really? why?
School: because...because...because...fuck off! we dont know...but it stands on the fucking exam so shut the fuck up u little crap!11 -
Just asked a girl if she knows java cz I was gonna try a programming pickup line on her. She said yes she knows languages like java, blue j, netbeans.
Guess *that* IDE isn't gonna autocomplete me.
Badum tss -
Netbeans (yes, voluntarily), terminator and yakuake. Can't program without those! Oh yeah and Instant Answers from DDG.11

FUCK FUCKING FUCK NETBEANS MESSED UP SO I DELETED A PROJECT I'VE JUST BEN WORKING ON FOR THE PAST DAY AND I CAN'T RECOVER IT FUUUUUUUUUUUU6
-
A teacher where I used to study, thinks that there's teo types of Java:
Java NetBeans, and Java Eclipse.
Sime othe people there think that Java works only on Eclipse.
Some graduate students still use the marquee HTML tag, and encourage each other to use it.3 -
I feel like I was very productive today. At last, I found myself a nice dark theme for NetBeans based on IntelliJ darcula theme. I also found a perfect Java API 8 SE class for date manipulation called LocalDate.4

I started my internship at the end of the year..
Fuck my ass!!! This code I have to work with is a huge pile of shit.
The code base I need to work with is around 40k LOC. It is a mixture of C++, C, Java, Python, Bash and I think I saw some lonely js files around.
A list of awesome parts:
- Paths are hard coded.
- Redundant code everywhere
- No documentation or inline comments available
Most of the comments in the code are just old code that is not used anymore. But the cherry on the turd is the class that should provide all kind of useful functions in my daily routine. About ninety percent of the functions have the same description or nothing. Sometimes a function name says "readSomethingFromSomewhere" but instead it writes something to a file. It is really confusing and I need to check everything twice instead of rely on what the function name promises.
I have also learned why copy paste isn't that good. The brief descriptions of every method in a files are always the same.
getName() - Description: Fork child process
getIp() - Description: Fork child process
getIpv6() - Description: Fork child process.
Surprise: None of these functions forks a child process. :D
Another awesome feature is the thing that they store up to five different versions of libraries. Everyone with slight modifications but no hint which one you need to use. Sometimes it is the newest, sometimes the oldest which is running in production. Another case of try and error.
Oh and my dev machine is a potato with a power supply and a fan. I started with NetBeans and every time I compiled the code it sounds like the machine wants to lift off and leave for a better place. (At this point I switched to Emacs and everything runs smoothly now)
At first I thought that I'm just not that good at coding and understanding a big project from scratch but some colleagues have the same problem. The whole system is very inflexible and it is all about "std::cout"-debugging to check if your changes do what you want them to do.
Currently I'm just trying to fix this mess to make the life for the next student or employee easier. The first month was just frustrating as hell. I need to ask so many questions and most of the time the answer was "I don't know, haven't touched this code in years". Needless to say that my progress isn't that awesome but at least I get a nice payment for 20 hours of work a week.2 -
When your favorite IDE is Netbeans, but you hate Java. It's like you have a favorite meal, but you hate the restaurant.2
-
VSCodium, just for a little moment, please go fuck yourself.
I mostly use netbeans but for just a little I'm using VSCodium (VSCode without the Microsoft calling home bullshit).
Just had this error I didn't see that fast and then, usually, whenever you put your cursor on the tee underlined code, it tells you the error in this drive-by popup thingy.
The goddamn popup disappears so fucking quick that its impossible to read.
Ended up trying to capture a screenshot in time which worked at try number 10+, then saw the error and corrected it.
VSCodium go fuck yourself. I'm not ready for this shit when I've just woken up and haven't fully drank my first coffee yet (or this is more like a triple espresso as for strength)

Just had a person ask me:
"Do I need to install crack for Netbeans?"
P. S. : Can't completely blame him, because Windows user.7 -
I taught an intro to programming class today, brought back memories of highschool...
I remember when I started my first IT class in grade 10, it was a 50/50 split between IT theory amd programming. Choices were java or delphi...I made the uninformed choice to do java (thank goodness) and really enjoyed it. For some reason the logic and OOP concepts really made sense to me and i was well ahead of the class. I was always top 5 for maths/physics/chem and english literature but never enjoyed them for a second. On the other hand programming was something i could do for hours and still enjoy. In my final year we had to do a project, most of my class was still struggling with very simple for loops and jframes. The projects were terrible drag and drop NetBeans UIs that would convert meters to feet.
I remember being upset with the quality and ended up writing an entire client/server chat system with file sharing, voice notes, voice streaming, server admin controls, usernames and passwords (plaintext sql of course 😂), admins/mods/guests etc...
Got 100% and a personal recognition from the headmaster...found out yesterday the staff at the college have actually been using it since the time I left.
I don't know why i typed this whole story, something about teaching the kids where i was myself made me feel warm and fuzzy inside1 -
For fucking fuck sake I fucking hate those dense motherfuckers with professor degrees from university. Lazy shmucks.
How, HOW, can you, as a sentient human being, force anybody to use Netbeans for the fucking final project? Two SOAP services, two REST services and PHP for communication? In Netbeans!? WTF. You didn't even teach us PHP for fuck sake. Why can't I choose technology I'm using!?
And to top it all of, Netbeans is the worst IDE I've ever used. I'd rather kill myself with a spoon than use for even one more project. How can ANY TEACHER use it for lectures and tasks? Using it teaches you fucking nothing, because it's generating code for you. It makes you braindead when you just look at it. It's works like shit and looks like shit.
P.S.
I hope that devTea's swear-words blocker will have some fun with this rant.16 -
Netbeans is like the girl you pull at 3am in the kebab shop. You wouldn't brag about it, its bloated and bug ridden but it gets you there without having to shell out any more money.2

My internship is about to end in two months. I was under the impression that I'll start looking for a job towards mid August and then decide what to do. I didn't expect my company to offer me a position so early before my internship ended.
Initially I had liked the place. The work was pretty relaxed and I had quite a bit of freedom. Soon enough, I proved my worth and my team started respecting my opinions and suggestions. They even consulted me on multiple occasions.
The first thing I noticed on the downside was the company, despite being resourceful enough and having a decent turnover and important clients, was quite stingy in terms of employee welfare. There was no coffee. There was machine but you had to buy the capsule for yourself. And that sucks. I know I don't need to say more but the other problems were there was no enterprise subscription (or any subscription) to PhpStorm even though our team handled so many PHP projects. I know IDEs are personal preferences but not having any professional IDEs is not something to let slide. The lead dev uses NetBeans (and not because he loved it or anything). Even though I worked on WebDev and front end, I had no option to ask for a second screen. I had one display apart from my laptop. Usually most companies in Paris provides food tickets for internships and this company did not even give me that. And worst of all, there wasn't really anyone I looked up to. As much as I enjoy responsibilities and all, I don't think I should be in an environment where I have nothing much to learn from my seniors. For some fucked sense of security and certainty, I was willing to overlook all this when they offered me a position. But I recently had my interview and the regional manager, a fuck face who still makes me wonder how he reached his position, made a proposal for some quite a small amount of salary. What infuriated more than his justifications was his attitude itself. There was absolutely no respect whatsoever. It was more like "We'll give you this, I think this is more than enough for you. Take it or do whatever you want". I asked for more and he didn't even bother negotiating. I declined the offer.
Now this would have solved all the issues. But my manager and my lead dev like me a lot. Both of them are pretty nice people. They both were bothered with the fact that I had turned down the offer. My manager even agreed that the offer was too low and had already given me tips to help me negotiate. But after I turned down the offer, she went and discussed the issue with the regional manager and he offered me a new proposal. This time it was decent but still under my expectations. I'm pretty sure I can do better elsewhere. I said I need time to think about it. I get multiple advises from people to take it atleast so that I get my visa converted to a work permit. For some reason, I want to take the risk and say no. And find something else. But today my lead dev called me aside and asked me if was going to say no. He really tried to influence me by telling me a lot of good things about me and telling me about the number of different projects we're going to start next month and all that. Even though I'm fully convinced that I don't want to work here, just the sheer act of saying no to these two people I respect is sooo fucking difficult for me that I can already imagine me working here for the next one year. The worst part is I can clearly classify their words and sentences into stuff they say to canvass me, stuff they're bullshitting about and flattery just to make me stay. Despite knowing I'm being taken advantage of, some fucked up module in my head wouldn't stop guilt tripping me. I don't know what to do. If I only I could find a really better job.
Pardon the grammatical errors if any. I'm just venting out and my thoughts branch in 500 different ways simultaneously.5 -
I HATE NETBEANS.
Why the fuck is it's interface so out of date.
I just had to increase its font size and took me half an hour just to find the option to do that.20 -
Which one's your favourite IDE 😋?
Intellj vs Eclipse vs Netbeans vs Xcode vs other?😏
Mine is Intellij.23 -
Java professor just copied his code from a word document into netbeans. I have lost faith in humanity.5

So me and @ikdekker are working on this 3d engine in c++ for school and we are kinda forced to use visual studio. He absolutely hates it cause it's not convenient (he's used to netbeans). Anyone know extensions or something so he'll be happy?5

Last semester at university we worked on a Java project and couldn't get our netbeans project to work.
We spent hours on hours to finally find out my fellow student mixed up java.lang with lava.
We added a slide in our presentation for that issue to hide the pain. -
VSCode
Its:
- Sublime but without the pricetag
- Atom but without the crashing
- netbeans but without the Java
- ideaj but without the load times
- vim without the elitism / esoteric design
- cross platform
The only downside to me is that its electron.9 -
Guys...
I finally switched from eclipse to netbeans! *hurray*
But it was not easy...
Netbeans didnt want to import first, so i coded myself a little program that prints a complete config file for my project...
So that was done.
But the colors... So ugly.
So i changed them to my eclipse colors.
Finally, after 3 hours of configuration and getting to know how exporting works, I AM DONE!
EclipseUsers--;6 -
Dear lord! Why is it so hard to get this to work! Anyone know if its even possible to run lambda expression on JSP? I made sure everything is running on Java JDK 8. BUT IT DOESN'T WORKKKKK. I keep getting "Lambda expressions are allowed only at source level 1.8 or above"2

I've finished the knowledge tests at the local DevJobCon and I got the following question on the easy part of the Java session:
Which of the following is NOT a Java IDE:
a) Eclipse
b) Netbeans
c) IntelliJ IDEA
d) Notepad++
😆6 -
They’re making us use netbeans for class. Like I have a whole lab on learning how to use it. I’m not going to class, I finished the lab in 2 minutes. This one particular class is so dumb, we’ve had labs on ms word, PowerPoint, excel... they could have just done an optional workshop for people who don’t know how to use them. Waste of 2 hours every Thursday. And the teachers a dickhead7

! WebDevs
I'm just undecided with which ide for web development I should go..
I'm switching all the time.
I'm working with NetBeans, codepen and brackets.
What do you use and why? (please only free versions)
Thank you
Above are just example pics.24 -
Why is netbeans, or Java in general, so fucking bad at handling memory ? I mean, I'm literally doing nothing on my code and I see my IDE consuming more and more RAM, to some point it goes over 1GB so I have to close then reopen it to "flush" the memory taken...
It's 2017, how the fuck can't we still manage to actually use a correct amount of RAM when I open a barely 10MB project ??
And it applies to everything related to Java. Like Android, Minecraft and other Java based softwares...18 -
So a question to all of the Java developers out there, am I the only one who can’t stand the idea of programming using eclipse or netbeans? I feel like Intellij idea is the best IDE that one can use8
-
I refused to get into python pretty long but yesterday it happend. I got the py. :')
Coming from Java/Netbeans I tried installing it again (for personal projects), but since Apache took over and Java 10 got released I never seemed to be able to accomplish a clean IDE install.. I gave up while I wanted to turn a current python programmer to java and, again, Netbeans fckd me over. I tried IntelliJ again afterwards but Netbeans seemingly fcked over the whole JDK installation too, so I gave up for real.
Everyone in my vicinity told me about python and it's coolness. I just.. no.
No {}, no semicolons, indentations are relevant... idk. I did not want to, but some part of me still wanted to try it. I want to work in the infosec branche so it definetly should be one of my interests shouldn't it?
So I tried yesterday, installed PyCharm and in literaly minutes (of course with trusty Stack Overflow behind me) I had a Qt based GUI which functioned as a basic webbrowser. I was intrigued. Well, I took like 100 times that time to get a working .exe out of my .py with all dependencies, but with the help of mentioned python friend I also got this to work. Python is cool now, I guess... ;b -
I havent touched swing in months, and now when i need to come back to it everything is Windowbuilder. Trouble is, nothing is included in Eclipse and I don't have time to go around hunting for the packages I need. Netbeans is marginally better, but GODDAMN its frustrating when it auto-gens code that you have to use N++ to edit...2
-
NetBeans by far. Small footprint, open source, not owned/managed by mass surveillance company/party and pretty much everything else I expect from a good IDE.
With the Darcula theme of course!12 -

For the first time ever I actually did well on a Computer Science test. I didn't even hand it in with any errors. It's the baby steps of progress that make me feel pretty happy. -
It's always funny to see my teachers panicking when they see that I don't use the same text editor as them and on the top of that i'm on linux.
Why don't u use netbeans ?
Rhetorical question3 -
Poor friend on the verge of punching a hole in his laptop because shitbeans(netbeans) runs like ass on his Windows machine(and just about every other ide for that matter). I bust out the good ol USB stick with Ubuntu still burned in that has been buried in the recesses of my backpack for aeons and get him up and running in 5 mins. Shitbeans boots up in a quarter of the time, other friends take note and request my services. Now I am considered the “plug” and instead of leaving an 8 ball on your desk for an undisclosed amount of cash. I convert my friends from the path of wickedness.2
-
Sorry in advance if we are not supposed to ask questions but: in your opinion, what's the best IDE for Linux? Other than Netbeans12
-
So I just got the brand spanking new MacBook Pro M2, primarily because the MacBook Air shitbox from 2014 started crashing when I started VSCode...
So now that I have a "proper" laptop, I should be able to work remote, right?... Right?!
Nope! Because our IDE of choice is (I fucking kid you not): Netbeans 7.4!, maybe 8.2... And we use SVN.
And apparently Netbeans 14 just shits the bed when I try to open our projects. Intellij is also no help, because our build scripts require Netbeans...
So the workaround? Parsec, of course!
So now I'll be able to work remote, by remoting into my windows desktop at work.
What a lovely connected world we live in!8 -
Been doing java for years now, and finally got to trying out an IDE. Been using VIM and notepad++ for ages, and tried Netbeans. It honestly frustrates me, is this where it's at, or is there something a bit more user friendly? Google yes I know, but Googles opinions are about as reliable as Bill Clinton around Monica Lewinski6
-
I freaking hate slow IDEs, especially ones made in Java.
I used to use an IDE/text editor called geany, and it was great, you could do almost every language in it and it worked great. It was fast, and efficient, it was a no-nonsense editor. That was when I was a kid, but I got in univ and got a job, so I had to start using big boy """""enterprise""""" IDEs like eclipse.
Eclipse, netbeans, and intellij (basically every Java based IDE except BlueJ) are exactly what is wrong with IDEs. They are clunky editors that frankly would be better off gone. They are slow, eat RAM like crazy (like most Java software). You just CANNOT have eclipse open for extended periods of time, because it WILL take up too much resources and get slow as heck. Android Studio (based on intellij) is a nightmare to work with. It just does not want to cooperate with you (I will agree they have improved a lot though).
I cannot believe I am saying this, but even the electron based IDEs like atom and code-oss are better than them. They are very easily expandable, something that Java was supposed to be, but is not. They have tons of plugins. Even if its not there, you can make one without having to spend a lifetime making the plugin! They look good. I never thought that going from IDEs with """""enterprise""""" UIs to something modern like code-oss would feel this great. Its ridiculous, I don't want to create a darn project for every single file that I want to edit, I just want syntax highlighting for a single .sh file that I want to edit right now. A project is just a way to logically define what is one "unit" or a "container for multiple files", you know what else is that? A simple directory.
Also I don't want 9 billion .xml files for the IDE to store its crap. Just make a .vscode like folder to hide your shit.11 -
Learned git, decided, imma use this while I make a little game in Java, couple days later, I find out that net beans has git INSIDE of it... :/ ....3
-
Damn java 9 is such a pain in the arse. First there isn't official support for NetBeans which used to be my primary java development ide. Had to move to intelliJ for that jdk 9 support. Then came xamarin and visual studio. And guess what they don't support jdk 9. So now I need to have two sets of jdk to keep my work going. I don't understand the point of having a stable release if there is no widespread support. I mean sure visual studio is Microsoft problem but NetBeans is available from official oracle website. At least they should be able to integrate support for it.2
-
So I started my new job yesterday. My manager seems like a nice person & co-workers too.
Meanwhile I found out they use Eclipse and SVN. I've been learning and using git. Now gotta learn subversion. Oh and all Java development I did was on Netbeans.
I'm learning Swift (3) and I saw few projects in objective-C.
Man they must really be seeing something in me.
I'm hoping Eclipse and SVN isn't as bad. Reading rants here makes it seem pretty bad lol.
I'm excited to learn though, gotta dive right in.3 -
I've been familiar with C Programming and to sn intermediate level with web design, and currently I'm taking an introductory java Course, And The instructor kinda started with some simple gui apps using swing components on netbeans environment , his claim is that console apps are not that relative in the real word anymore , and gui apps are more interesting for newcomers , and I personally don't think it's a very effective approach , what's your opinion ?4
-
I decided to give a try to NetBeans to open a C project and see what was inside. NetBeans died trying to parse it, taking all my RAM. Goodbye NetBeans2
-
Can someone please force my project manager to use fucking Maven for dependencies instead of including local jar files for some side projects?
And possibly a better IDE than Netbeans...1 -
Finally convince my colleague to try sublime text. His coming from notepad++ and netbeans.
First thing he do, figure out how to change the theme to white background. -.- not so cool anymore.2 -
What's a good IDE for Java? I have used Eclipse and NetBeans in the past, but for whatever reason Eclipse won't set up right on my machine and I am not a fan of NetBeans' console display thingy. (OR at least I wasn't in 2009)
I am applying for a teaching gig but they teach in Java so I want to knock the rust off.12 -
I've been a user of NetBeans IDE for PHP for quite sometime. I use it both at work and at home for personal projects. Lately I haven't done many personal projects so I fired it up on my Mac only to find it utilising 100% of all my CPU cores. This has always been an issue with NetBeans for years and it just seems like they can't be bothered to fix it.
So now I'm on the search for a replacement. At work now I use PHPStorm, but the $200 yearly license for small personal projects is a bit much. So for the time being I'm going to be trying out Atom with the ide-php package. It's a shame really as NetBeans is one of the good IDEs out there, but it's such a resource hog that I'm not sure how people can do any work on it.4 -
So let's break this down: it's now 2017, the world of development is overflowing with flexible systems written in dynamic coding languages running on powerful hardware. A great deal of which is available to use for free.
This morning I FINALLY got one member of our "R&D" team at work to implement a proper logging system in one of our numerous Java apps... So she adds "log4j-1.2-api.jar" to her project.
*facepalm*
I'm still (3 years down the line) trying to convince them to let me rewrite their build scripts to integrate some sort of dependency management system, since they still use the default generated build for Ant as provided by Netbeans.
There is one bright side though: we're so-fucking-close to being able to ditch MS VSS!
*queue slow clap*
At this rate, how long do you think it will be before we can finally get away from using JDK 1.6 for everything?3 -
When interviewing people still ask me if I work with Eclipse. I'm Android dev, why should I ever work with that piece of sh*t of an non-IDE?
Please just don't ask for Eclipse. No sane androider uses it. I don't like to waste my life using the worst software ever made. I would even say that no one should be using it. NetBeans is better, IntelliJ is best.2 -
I'm about to buy a new desktop pc, looking for some that can run visual studio 2015 without problems, i also use netbeans and mysql. I was thinking in a amd fx 8230 e (8 core) with 16 gb ram and a 1gb video card ... or a amd a10 7860k(4 core /integrated gpu) also with 16 gb ram. What do you think guys? Whats better for software development? I'll appreciate some devs advice17

Today I planned to work on my Java school project. I have clean install of windows 10 and I opened Netbeans as usual. No source tab, just history. HOW THE FUCK I CANNOT EDIT THE FUCKING CODE IN FUCKING IDE, I asked. I think let's uninstall this crap and install again then this shit happened. (It's good to have a second computer in my dorm, it's called redundance I guess)6 -
Everything is shit and I have to work drive thru till 11.15pm.
Everything appears to require js at one point or another (though kotlin requires groovy which, in the intellij IDE, the template it COMES with is fucking broken from the start)
c# could work (and microsoft shop jobs are plentiful) but fucking VS code is a headache and microsoft seems intent on locking everyone into VS and making everything they touch turn to shit, like the king midas of diarrhea (thanks MS, monodevelop is source only on windows). Also c# for android (xamarin) requires apache cordova to do anything, which means...TADA, FUCKING JAVASCRIPT and all the other shit it brings with it.
Java seems like an option, lots of jobs available, but I need netbeans for desktop (javafx) and Android Studio
separately in order to do anything. And Android Studio now uses, of all things...FUCKING GROOVY.
*cocks gunfinger and points in mouth*
why must every fucking thing be it's own DSL and make everything about the fucking ceremony of configuration over
fucking convention?
Haven't any of these fucking cocksuckers heard of MAKE? Or do they just masturbate over how intelligent and smart they are for having reinvented the god damn WHEEL?
I'll see you at the drive through. Will that be all for today?9 -
Question for school:
When (if) you use Java what IDE or text editor do you like to use? Also what do you use for work (if you program in Java)?
Personally I like to use intellij but the school default is NetBeans (prob cause it's free).
Thx everyone13 -
my next challenge is now building a personal portfolio page :)
I'll create a one pager.
I'm just excited cause its a lil bit harder than building an easy tribute page. My heart will go on xD2 -
I FIGURED OUT MY OWN PROBLEM CUZ Y'ALL MOTHERFUCKERS DIDN'T ANSWER MY SIMPLE QUESTION IN MY LAST RANT!!!
I'm not even that mad.8 -
Devrant, can you recommend me a good IDE for PHP/Javascript/HTML that is not NetBeans? It decided to become unusable overnight and I need a backup IDE so I can keep working.13
-
I am done with NetBeans! This damn fucking stupid shit of software 😤. PhpStorm let me feel I am in heaven 😍.
Today I have setuped new system. Pray for convincing my boss to fork some license for me within the next 30 days 🙏🙏🙏.1 -
Don't get me wrong, but I have been staring at the splash for quite a while, trying to figure out if that's why I have mysterious exceptions...

soooooo we are still trying to make the mapping from the classes to hibernate, almost 7 hours and all the time every change we do, we have to close netbeans and open it again to "refresh" the hibernate configuration ._. we have seen the netbeans logo all the f*cking night ._.2

I'm using jetbrains IDE products from over an year now. I'm hooked. They're perfect.
But...
I'm looking for a replacement (don't ask why). Tried a few, netbeans seems to be closest to them (still very far).
Recently came across Visual Studio Code. Seems amazing, and very close to jetbrains.
Has anyone tried it? Any other recommendations?
I need IDE for: front-end (including React, sass, JS, etc.) And PHP
Don't recommend Sublime or Atom. Just don't. Or vim.
PS: should be free or close to free.3 -
Netbeans, it looks ancient, is slow, and takes 100000m clicks to get anything done, and also has useless silly snippets

Honestly? The environment... I have different styles in different languages and IDEs, for example I started Java with NetBeans that defaults brackets to same line, so when I use Java I default to same line brackets, C# on the other hand, Visual Studio defaults to brackets on their own line, and so do I.
You could see me write same code on different languages/environment and it would be styled differently. Yes I know, I should be burning in hell,I am THAT kind of guy xD3 -
MPLABX, eclipse and netbeans are biggest pieces of shit software in the world, fucken a I can’t stand this slowness, over bloat, locking up, and the unable to resolve bullshit,
(Porting a suppliers project and build script over to a simple makefile, and so the project can open and build in sublime or vim rather these other bullshit IDES9 -
hoi guys,
on freecodecamp i had a lesson to build a website on codepen.io with bootstrap.
except that it has some code features, it felt like normal coding.
i have to write all on my own also.
And then I opened a html5 project on netbeans with downloaded bootstrap and it filled the index. html plus css and other files with much content (but looked like shit)..
why is there such a big difference between codepen bootstrap and netbeans bootstrap?6 -
It's always a matter of much is there to do and in what language...
There is the IDE-Zone, which is dominated by IntelliJ (CLion be praised when you do Rust or C++) for large stuff and heavy refactorings.
Always disputted by VS Code with synced settings. It's nice and comfy and has every imaginable language supported good enough, especially when its smaller change in native code or web/scripting stuff.
Then there is the "small changes" space, where Vim and VS Code struggle whos faster or which way sticks better in my brain...
might be you SCP stuff down from a box and edit it to re-upload, or you use the ever-present vi (no "m" unfortunately)
sometimes things are more easy for multi-caret editing (Ctrl-D or Alt-J), and sometimes you just want to ":%s/foo/bar/g" in vim.
I am sure that each of these things are perfectly possible in each of the editors, but there is just reflexes in my editor choices.
I try to stay flexible and discover strenghts of each one of my weapon of choice and did change the favorites. (Atom, Brackets, Eclipse, Netbeans, ...)
However there are some things I tried often and they are simply not working for me...
might for you. I don't care. and I'll just use some space to piss people off, because this is supposed to be a rant:
nano just feels wrong, emacs is pestilence from satan that was meant for tentacles instead of fingers, sublime does cost money but should not, gives me a constant guilty feeling (and I don't like that) that, and all the editors from various desktop environments are wasted developer ressources. -
Today I upgraded from Netbeans 8.2 to Netbeans 10; it works like a charm.
Is there anybody that uses Netbeans ?
Sometimes I feel alone.8 -
I was trying to complete some computer science coursework on an old school computer running Netbeans...
It took 10 minutes and lots of freezing to write one line of code which doesn't even work. -
So fucking today i wanted to test netbeans ide..installed, no problem..then i wanted to compile code an it said fucking error ,netbean connector and google chrome? Wtf do i need this shit ?!4

Ya boy is now officially an intern! I'm starting next week, everything is sorted except one thing: we have to bring our own computers and basically get to use whatever software we want. I've got a fresh install of Mint and was wondering what IDEs or editors everybody here uses (and recommends), since I only really have a bit of experience with Atom and Netbeans, and I don't think I'll be able to get away with coding in Notepad++ or Gedit here.12 -

Finally.. I have decided to change my laptop. Please suggest me something good. Mainly worked with PHP and Java (Netbeans). Planning to start android.
Budget 1000-1200 USD4 -
want to ask the guru one, is there a way to automate things in netbeans!?
For example, is there something to set to, upon a creation of a new Angular Service, automatically include the js file in index.html and inject the service name in angular application!?2 -
Why does EJB not allow me to access the methods. works, works, works for 3 methods and bam client access exception for the fourth one. Is there like a method count or something. I dunno if glassfish is unhappy for some reason. PermitAll, refershed Netbeans like a million times. I dunno could just use nodejs and javascript but project constraints.
Okay, enough for my first rant. I will debug away :( -

I believe that the answer to all my problems lies in the wubbs of chillstep.
It's the only thing that helps me debug. -
Has anyone else lost all compatibility with Netbeans 10 and javafx on linux? I can't for the life of me get any packages to work together to fix the problem. Even installing "Netbeans8" and jdk8 and openjfx8 doesn't fix the problem.2
