Search - "worth the effort"

Frack he did it again.
In a meeting with the department mgr and going over a request feature *we already discussed ad nauseam* that wasn’t technically feasible (do-able, just not worth the effort)
DeptMgr: “I want to see the contents of web site A embedded in web site B”
Me: “I researched that and it’s not possible. I added links to the target APM dashboard instead.”
Dev: “Yes, it’s possible. Just use an IFrame.”
DeptMgr: “I thought so. Next sprint item …what’s wrong?…you look frustrated”
Me: “Um..no…well, I said it’s not possible. I tried it and it doesn’t work”
Dev: “It’s just an IFrame. They are made to display content from another site.”
Me: “Well, yes, from a standard HTML tag, but what you are seeing is rendered HTML from the content manager’s XML. It implemented its own IFrame under the hood. We already talked about it, remember?”
Dev: “Oh, that’s right.”
DeptMgr: “So it’s possible?”
Dev: “Yea, we’ll figure it out.”
Me: “No…wait…figure what out? It doesn’t work.”
Dev: “We can use a powershell script to extract the data from A and port it to B.”
DeptMgr: “Powershell, good…Next sprint item…”
Me: “Powershell what? We discussed not using powershell, remember?”
Dev: “It’s just a script. Not a big deal.”
DeptMgr: “Powershell sounds like a right solution. Can we move on? Next sprint item….are you OK? You look upset”
Me: “No, I don’t particularly care, we already discussed executing a powershell script that would have to cross two network DMZs. Bill from networking already raised his concern about opening another port and didn’t understand why we couldn’t click a link. Then Mike from infrastructure griped about another random powershell script running on his servers just for reporting. He too raised his concern about all this work to save one person one click. Am I the only one who remembers this meeting? I mean, I don’t care, I’ll do whatever you want, but we’ll have to open up the same conversations with Networking again.”
Dev: “That meeting was a long time ago, they might be OK with running powershell scripts”
Me: “A long time ago? It was only two weeks.”
Dev: “Oh yea. Anyway, lets update the board. You’ll implement the powershell script and I’ll …”
Me: “Whoa..no…I’m not implementing anything. We haven’t discussed what this mysterious powershell script is supposed to do and we have to get Mike and Bill involved. Their whole team is involved in the migration project right now, so we won’t see them come out into the daylight until next week.”
DevMgr: “What if you talk to Eric? He knows powershell. OK…next sprint item..”
Me: “Eric is the one who organized the meeting two weeks ago, remember? He didn’t want powershell scripts hitting his APM servers. Am I the only one who remembers any of this?”
Dev: “I’m pretty good with powershell, I’ll figure it out.”
DevMgr: “Good…now can we move on?”
GAAAHH! I WANT A FLAMETHROWER!!!
Ok…feel better, thanks DevRant.11 -
I'm at my seat during the regular morning routine of checking emails, planning the things I need to complete/study when my phone rings.
HR: Good Morning, can you come over to the conference room please ?
Me: Sure
I enter the conference room and on the other side of the table, I see a group of 3 HR Managers (not a very nice feeling), especially when it was 10 months into my first job as a Trainee Software Developer.
HR: The company hasn't been performing as expected. For this reason, we've been told to cut down our staff. We're sorry but we have to let you go. You've been doing a great job all along. Thank you.
Me: ---- (seriously ?!)
The security-in-chief 'escorts' me out of the premises and I hand over the badge. I'm not allowed to return to my desk.
This happened about 16 years ago. But it stuck with me throughout my programming career.
A couple of Lessons Learnt which may help some of the developers today :
- You're not as important as you think, no matter what you do and how well you do it.
- Working hard is one thing, working smart is another. You'll understand the difference when your appraisals comes around each year.
- Focus on your work but always keep an eye on your company's health.
- Be patient with your Manager; if you're having a rough time, its likely he/she is suffering more.
- Programming solo is great fun. However it takes other skills that are not so interesting, to earn a living.
- You may think the Clients sounds stupid, talks silly and demands the stars; ever wonder what they think about you.
- When faced with a tough problem, try to 'fix' the Client first, then look for a solution.
- If you hate making code changes, don't curse the Client or your Manager - we coders collectively created a world of infinite possibilities. No point blaming them.
- Sharing your ideas matter.
- Software Development is a really long chain of ever-growing links that you may grok rather late in your career. But its still worth all the effort if you enjoy it.
I like to think of programming as a pursuit that combines mathematical precision and artistic randomness to create some pretty amazing stuff.
Thanks for reading.14 -
I turned 40 yesterday. Here are some lessons I've learned, without fluff or BS.
1) Stop waiting for exceptional things to just happen. They rarely do, and they can't be counted on. Greatness is cultivated; it's a gradual process and it won't come without effort.
2) Jealousy is a monster that destroys everything in it's path. It's absolutely useless, except to remind us there's a better way. We can't always control how we feel, but we can choose how we react to those feelings.
When I was younger, jealousy in relationships always led to shit turning out worse than it probably would have otherwise. Even when it was justified, even when a relationship was over, jealousy led me to burn bridges that I wished I hadn't.
3) College isn't for everyone, but you'll rarely be put square in the middle of so much potential experience. You'll meet people you probably wouldn't have otherwise, and as you eventually pursue your major, you'll get to know people who share your passions and dreams. Despite all the bullshit ways in which college sucks, it's still a pretty unique path on the way to adulthood. But on that note...
4) Learn to manage your money. It's way too easy to get into unsustainable debt. It only gets worse, and it makes everything harder. We don't always see the consequence of credit cards and loans when we're young, because the future seems so distant and undecided. But that debt isn't going anywhere... Try not to borrow money that you can't imagine yourself paying back now.
5) Floss every day, not just a couple times per week when you remember, or when you've got something stuck in your teeth. It matters, even if you're in your 20s and you've never had a cavity.
6) You'll always hear about living in the moment, seizing the day... It's tough to actually do. But there's something to be said for looking inward, and trying to recognize when too much of our attention is focused elsewhere. Constantly serving the future won't always pay off, at least not in the ways we think it will when we're young.
This sentiment doesn't have much value when it's put in abstract, existential terms, like it usually is. The best you can do is try to be aware of your own willingness and ability to be open to experiences. Think about ways in which you might be rejecting the here and now, even if it's as seemingly-benign as not going out with some friends because you just saw them, or you already went to that place they're going to. We won't recognize the good old days for what they were until they're already gone. The trick is having as many good days as possible.
7) Don't start smoking; you'll never quit as soon as you'll think you can. If you do start, make yourself quit after a couple years, no matter what. Keep your vices in check; drugs and alcohol in moderation. Use condoms, use birth control.
8) Don't make love wait. Tell your friends and family you love them often, and show them when you can. You're going to lose people, so it's important. Statistically, some of you will die young, yourselves.
When it comes to relationships, don't settle if you can't tell yourself you're in love, and totally believe it. Don't let complacency and familiarity get in the way of pursuing love. Don't be afraid to end relationships because they're comfortable, or because you've already invested so much into them.
Being young is a gift, and it won't last forever. You need to use that gift to experience all the love that you can, at least as a means to finding the person you really want to grow old with, if that's what you want. Regardless, you don't want to miss out on loving someone, and being loved, because of fear. Don't be reckless; just be honest with yourself.
9) Take care of your body. Neglecting it makes everything tougher. That doesn't mean you have to work out every day and eat like a nutritionist, but if you're overweight or you have health issues, do what you can to fix it. Losing weight isn't easy, but it's not as hard as people make it out to be. And it's one of the most important things you can do to invest in a healthy adulthood.
Don't put off nagging health issues because you think you'll be fine, or you don't think you'll be able to afford it, or you're scared of the outcome. There will always be options, until there aren't. Most people never get to the no-options part. Or, they get there because all the other options expired.
10) Few things will haunt you like regret. Making the wrong choice, for example, usually won't hurt as much. I guess you can regret making the wrong choice, but my deepest regrets come from inaction, complacency and indifference.
So how can we avoid regret? I don't know, lol. I don't think it's as simple as just commiting to choices... Choosing to do nothing is still a choice, after all. I think it's more about listening to your gut, as cliche as that sounds.
To thine own self be true, I guess. It's worth a shot, even if you fail. Almost anything is better than regret.10 -
How I went from loving my job to wishing i dont wake up tomorrow just to avoid it.
Ive been a backend dev in the company im at for 2 years now.
First year was a blast, i loved my work so much, I used to get so many random features to do, bug fixes, campaigns, analytics, etc..
Second year i started getting familiar with the part of the code that has to do with Search in our music streaming app. Nobody wanted to work on it, so i wanted to take initiative and start doing a few tasks.
A few tasks turned into sprints, and sprints turned into months worth of sprints. And because the code was the definition of tech debt, and because it was so messed up that changing one thing can blow up everything else, working on Search was not too fun.
However, people seemed to be happy search tasks are no longer piling up and someone is handling them so that used to make me feel good about it. They also gave me so much freedom and i felt like my own manager because no one told me what to do (not even my actual manager) they just let me be and were happy i was handling the part they want nothing to do with. I was also given an intern to mentor and have her work on Search tasks with me which turned out amazing.
During the last few months, I completely rewrote search, made it 10 times more performant in such a neat way, made an inhouse dashboard to automate certain tasks so we wont need to waste developers on them (all of which were extra effort on my own time without being asked), all meanwhile still tending to the fixes of the old implementation.
I felt so accomplished, and in a way, i felt like a lead (even tho im not managing any employees, i had so much freedom and I was literally responsible for everything about Search and if i decide to play with the sprint task order i can even do that).
Then 6 or so weeks ago my manager left the company, and while i thought id be a standalone team / person (single person teams are not uncommon in the company) i was instead put under someone else. Someone who likes to micro manage the fuck out of me. I have been happy working on shit code because it was my baby, my project, no one interferes and no one tells me what to do and everyone would call me the search lead (unofficially). now if i dont report to that guy every two hours he calls to see if im working. preplans sprints i no longer have a say in, and im the only dev who knows the code so all tasks go to me. I feel i got demoted so fucking much. I felt like a lead on a project and now im back to being a normal code minion. From deciding everything about a project to blindly following a some irrelevant manager's opinion. (who btw is making Search worse) And after all the extra effort i put in, after actually caring, after actually embracing Search as my responsibility i get rewarded with losing everything i liked about my job...My Independence. From feeling like a lead to feeling demoted. I am so demotivated.
I love the company, but this is hell for me and this made me hate a job i always loved. I am thinking of talking to the CTO asking to work on other stuff because i no longer want this. If i am to be a code minion at least let it be on code i like, let me go back to dealing with PMs, fuck my new manager I dont wanna work with that guy he can take the project along with all its poopoo.16 -
Met a Project Manager (at a friend's party) who had transitioned to a PM role from a developer role (most probably he wrote shitty code)
Smartass PM to me (after I told I code for living) : I really pity poor programmers and I feel sorry for them, the work they do, the effort they put in l, it's just now worth it
Me : yes you are right if we don't code PM are just not worth it, I understand it's a skill to talk about deadlines and features and what not, but the Pre-requisite is that some one would code it first. Also coding is not that anyone can do, I do it because I enjoy it, I m just not meant for superficial talks and I love building things, that's y I do it..
Smartass PM : (dumbstuck)
After half an hr of bullshit conversation...smartass PM has realized it by now that in Silicon Valley (where we live) it's much cooler to be a developer than being a PM (he has recently moved from east coast)...
PM to me : I just live on stack-overflow
Me thinking : Really !!

Overheard my boss speaking at the pantry.
He tells the sales to promote to potential buyers that our product will only take 2 days to setup but actually the dev team has been alloted 2 weeks.
How the in fuck could we deliver 2 weeks worth of effort in 2 days!? WTF boss. Fuck you, and your double chin. I am tired of your shit.2 -
I've been away, lurking at the shadows (aka too lazy to actually log in) but a post from a new member intrigued me; this is dedicated to @devAstated . It is erratic, and VERY boring.
When I resigned from the Navy, I got a flood of questions from EVERY direction, from the lower rank personnel and the higher ups (for some reason, the higher-ups were very interested on what the resignation procedure was...). A very common question was, of course, why I resigned. This requires a bit of explaining (I'll be quick, I promise):
In my country, being in the Navy (or any public sector) means you have a VERY stable job position; you can't be fired unless you do a colossal fuck-up. Reduced to non-existent productivity? No problem. This was one of the reasons for my resignation, actually.
However, this is also used as a deterrent to keep you in, this fear of lack of stability and certainty. And this is the reason why so many asked me why I left, and what was I going to do, how was I going to be sure about my job security.
I have a simple system. It can be abused, but if you are careful, it may do you and your sanity good.
It all begins with your worth, as an employee (I assume you want to go this way, for now). Your worth is determined by the supply of your produced work, versus the demand for it. I work as a network and security engineer. While network engineers are somewhat more common, security engineers are kind of a rarity, and the "network AND security engineer" thing combined those two paths. This makes the supply of my work (network and security work from the same employee) quite limited, but the demand, to my surprise, is actually high.
Of course, this is not something easy to achieve, to be in the superior bargaining position - usually it requires great effort and many, many sleepless nights. Anyway....
Finding a field that has more demand than there is supply is just one part of the equation. You must also keep up with everything (especially with the tech industry, that changes with every second). The same rules apply when deciding on how to develop your skills: develop skills that are in short supply, but high demand. Usually, such skills tend to be very difficult to learn and master, hence the short supply.
You probably got asleep by now.... WAKE UP THIS IS IMPORTANT!
Now, to job security: if you produce, say, 1000$ of work, then know this:
YOU WILL BE PAID LESS THAN THAT. That is how the company makes profit. However, to maximize YOUR profit, and to have a measure of job security, you have to make sure that the value of your produced work is high. This is done by:
- Producing more work by working harder (hard method)
- Producing more work by working smarter (smart method)
- Making your work more valuable by acquiring high demand - low supply skills (economics method)
The hard method is the simplest, but also the most precarious - I'd advise the other two. Now, if you manage to produce, say, 3000$ worth of work, you can demand for 2000$ (numbers are random).
And here is the thing: any serious company wants employees that produce much more than they cost. The company will strive to pay them with as low a salary as it can get away with - after all, a company seeks to maximize its profit. However, if you have high demand - low supply skills, which means that you are more expensive to be replaced than you are to be paid, then guess what? You have unlocked god mode: the company needs you more than you need the company. Don't get me wrong: this is not an excuse to be unprofessional or unreasonable. However, you can look your boss in the eye. Believe me, most people out there can't.
Even if your company fails, an employee with valuable skills that brings profit tends to be snatched very quickly. If a company fires profitable employees, unless it hires more profitable employees to replace them, it has entered the spiral of death and will go bankrupt with mathematical certainty. Also, said fired employees tend to be absorbed quickly; after all, they bring profit, and companies are all about making the most profit.
It was a long post, and somewhat incoherent - the coffee buzz is almost gone, and the coffee crash is almost upon me. I'd like to hear the insight of the veterans; I estimate that it will be beneficial for the people that start out in this industry.2 -
My internship is coming to an end and I think my boss is testing my limits.
So, in the beginning of this week, he assigned me a non reproducible bug that has been causing trouble to the whole team for months.
Long story short, when we edit or create a planned order from the backend, once in fifteen, a product is added to the list and "steals" the quantity from another product.
Everyone in the company has experienced this bug several times but we never got to reproduce it consistently.
After spending the whole week analyzing the 9 lines of JS code handling this feature, reading tons of docs and several libraries source code. I finally found a fix by "bruteforce testing" with selenium and exporting screenshots, error logs and snapshots of the html source.
This has been intense but was worth the effort, first, I fix a really annoying bug and second, I learned a lot of things and improved my understanding of Javascript.6 -
y'know, if your coworkers annoy the shit out of you, sometimes it's worth looking at how the company is treating them.
a lot of what i have to deal with spans from an environment that demands speed at the expense of quality and won't reward developers for their effort, cause they simply don't understand the effort it takes. we have a tiny team responsible for a nation wide program, and people are just shocked when they hear this, because the work we do is in fact amazing for a group of 5. everyone is just tired, overworked and badly recompensed for it. this shit will hit the fan pretty soon5 -
Relationships and gaming on Linux have a lot in common. When it works, it's glorious, though it has its quirks. When it doesn't... You let it drive you mad until you decide that the compatibility issues just aren't worth the effort anymore.1
-
"how did you make that app?"
"nice website, how'd you make it?"
"I thought only geniuses could make x? how'd you make x?"
maybe because I put in half a fucking ounce of effort into making it. please kindly shut the fuck up and realize that I don't care enough to tell you how I did it, because it would take more fucking effort to tell you than to walk away (surprise?). no I will not take your idea in consideration. why? because it's not worth fucking considering. go fuck yourself. and don't ask me the same thing tomorrow you cunt.6 -
Not CS degree, but EE, and totally worth the effort. Not only that without degree, I wouldn't get jobs in many companies, but I actually learnt a lot. Laplace and Fourier will be as valid in a 100 years as they were 200 years ago.
Yeah, it was fucking hard. Math was rather OK, only 50% of the students failed the first exam. EE was harder, 90% failed at the first try. That wasn't regarded as problem - on the contrary, the exams were designed to weed out. After two semesters, we already had 50% student loss.
I remember what the EE prof told us in the first semester: we would learn a lot of things, but most importantly, to think like an engineer. Didn't make sense right away, but 5 years later, I knew what he had been talking about.3 -
A Gentoo installation might be fun, but it sure as hell isn't worth it, both in time and effort. Broken audio, broken video, broken stability. A broken kernel that doesn't recognize the hard drive or the network interface. And half a week to compile the fucking thing and it's still not done. This is not the right distribution for me.2

So... Heard back from a recruiter today. Lovely lass.
I’d passed over a submission for her tech demo.
The brief was basically just to create a small simple module that calculates shit, nae effort.
But, when the recruiter had me on the phone she said “I know it’s a silly small module but try and run it up like you would a production ready app”.
The job spec and recruiter were keen on me demonstrating TDD, not specific on js version, final runtime, etc. The job was a senior spec at a higher salary range. So it warranted some effort, and demonstrating more than a simple module.
“Okay, cool, nae bother, let’s crack on.”
The feedback in the response from the dev today:
“He’s over-engineered tests, build...”
SUCK MY LEFT TESTICLE YOU FUCKWIT.
Talk to your recruiters, not me.
The feedback included a phrase I never hope to hear from a developer I work with:
“Tests are good but...” 😞
It was a standard 98% test suite from an RGR cycle, no more or less than I’d expect in prod.
The rest of the feedback was misguided or plain wrong. It was useful to see because I know now when they say they have “high standards” they mean: we listen to the dude who put the factory pattern in a JS brief.
Oh shit also: “someone’s done chmod 777” was in there as a sarcastic comment in the feedback. It was his fucking unarchive tool 😞
My response was brief and polite: “cheers for the consideration, all the best, James”
It’s honestly not worth warning them. Or, asking why they’d criticise something they’d asked me to do.
If you want a shitty js module, ask for a shitty js module and no more.4 -
Felt like a badass when I figured out a way to get my massive wallpaper collection onto my company provided laptop which was completely and I mean COMPLETELY locked down.
I couldn't bear the thought of using the default Windows wallpapers 😂3 -
The best part of being a dev is that no matter how long you take to solve a problem, you know that even after a whole night of solving issues it will be worth the effort because you will deliver a functional product and there is no best feeling.2
-
Step 1. Learn to code .
Step 2. Exchange code for money.
Step 3. Exchange money for car, soap & a clean shirt.
Step 4. Profit.
[GOTO: Step #1]
Lol. OK on a serious note coding improved my love life, it drastically reduced the frequency of dates - but dramatically improved the quality and duration of my relationships.
I used to believe that anyone/thing had the potential to be great - and (like me) all they needed was a little time to seize an opportunity.
This essentially meant there were no deal breakers and I spent a lot of time giving people benefit of the doubt and investing a lot of time & effort supporting and trying to build on aspirations that would turn out to simply be fantasies I was indulging.
I still idealistically believe that everything/one has infinite potential - only now I know which problems are worth solving, which are purely for fun or a thought experiment and which should immediately be thrown out and refactored.
All the ambition in the world is void without drive.1 -
Have you ever been at at that magical point where you have to decide if it's worth putting the effort in to understand the legacy code, or just delete it all and start again?2
-
Not only are you not your job, your job is not worth taking home with you; unless it's actually your company, leave it in the office. You can love your job and still have days when you hate it, or days when you'd rather be doing anything else; that doesn't mean you don't still like what you do.
As a profession we can all be obsessive and not take the time out that we need, so make special effort to do so, even if that just means you're working on a personal project instead. Your brain, and partner, will be glad that you did. Whether you like to admit it or not, everyone needs downtime.1 -
!dev
I want to say to my cheating whore of an ex, you were never worth the time nor the effort. You are my only regret in life. There are actually way more pretty and nice and probably honest girls than you'll ever be!20 -
It's fucking never worth it, to be decent to colleagues. I got prove of that just this evening. Sorry, this rant will be a bit longer.
A colleague of mine inherited some legacy project that I worked on in the past. He clearly hates working on it. And tbh. I can't blame him for it. It's not very fun. He also makes virtually no effort to become more proficient in it.
This usually leads to him calling for my aid, whenever any problem arises, that would require any kind of effort to solve. I would normally cave in and help him. Mostly due to the fact, that without any intervention from me, it would end on my desk sooner or later.
That changed in the last few months, as I simply couldn't make free time to help him. anymore. I was working overtime and the associated project barely got done on time. During that time I would, as politely as possible, deny him. He knows fully how stressful the project was getting.
Today he asked for help again. I denied again, as a task was due very soon. He didn't reply to my message afterwards. After a few hours suddenly I got a bunch of his jira issues assigned to me.
The motherfucker simply shoved _all_ of his support issues to me. Not only that, he also assigned the issue he was asking for help for earlier as well. All without consulting me or anything. Then he pissed of into his vacation.
Some of his support issues have been created last year! And they are still not solved. He simply isn't replying to questions in those issues or just assigns them to others colleagues without any instructions.
Fuck him. Other colleagues don't even respond to him anymore. He fully fucking knows that I have a tight deathline on my current task. And still he chose to dump all his work on me, so that I have to waste time to reassign it and report it to our superior.
Fuck him for creating more stress in this already stressful situation. Enjoy your vacation you fucking leech. I will have quite a "nice suprise" waiting for you, when you return.15 -
"Ralph" has been working on a process that updates a field in a SharePoint list and bellying aching for almost a month. Couldn't use the C# client, too hard...tried to use the SharePoint REST entry point, using C# too complex...Javascript also was overly complex. Tried to use PowerShell, that worked but could only run on the SharePoint Server and it didn't have access to the 3rd party system.
In our stand up this morning, again, he was belly aching he is still not done because of the complexity of SharePoint.
I thought "Good lord...what the frack is the problem? Surely other devs in the world aren't having this much of a problem."
Fire up google...search for an example...copy the MSDN C# example...run it...tada...updated the SharePoint list just fine. Maybe 15 minutes of effort (< 20 lines of mostly copy+pasted code).
Next stand up, I'm contemplating calling him out on the BS, but I suspect he had working code for a while. Wouldn't be the first time he has dragged his ass working on a project until folks get fed up waiting and he has an "intellectual breakthrough" and brags how all his effort was worth the time. Similar to the firefighter who starts fires just so he can 'be the hero'.

Hot tip: if you are a company, don’t ever ever ever ever spend your money on an Optimizely academy course. They have the worst course material I have ever seen in my life, and the material is outdated by several years from exercise to exercise. And the training videos are literally just a recording of a live class with a couple students. They should pay me to sit through this fucking shitshow. It is not worth a single cent, but guess how much they charge for the course and certification?!?! $2300 😱🫣😂. It’s so fucking bad I want to kill myself. Whoever decided to pour as little effort into this as possible over at Optimizely, I hereby curse you to a 2300 painful deaths and I hope someone shoves a ice cold rod up your ass to wake you up. *slams keyboard*3

Okay, we fucking get it guys, you wish that you'd get changelogs with every app update and they'd tell you everything and blah blah blah.
Fuck off
We're the only people who even check, it's not worth the effort. Unless a major feature was added or a well known bug was fixed, the "fixed bugs" is more than enough for the general public.3 -
Video game graphics have peaked. It absolutely has. It's gotten to a stage where 500% extra effort would result in 5% improvement which is not worth it imo.
We have games that were released in 2010's which still hold up to today's standards.
If every game company could fucking stop with the graphics improvements and actually work on building bangers to play and have fun with, that'd be great.10 -
People before 1950: Sam to his son: I've built this shop with all the hard work, you should put in some effort into your studies to make it worth it!!
People between 1950-1980: We need to develop something to help us achieve great goals, like a machine that can travel back in time and tell our past selves to "relax, in a few decades you'll be able to build a website in under 2 minutes!"
People now: I completed my website built in under 2 minutes, and now I'm going to use it to order a vintage manual typewriter so I can experience the thrill of taking all day to write a single page! -
Currently a lower manager (I lead a team but I report to a handful of uppers). In my line of work the holiday season means more work instead of vacation. My team consists of 4 other guys, 2 of which aren't worth their weight in shit, 1 guy who's leaving for the military soon, and 1 guy who's just okay. The first 2 are about to be fired for any number of reasons, and there's no plans to hire anyone else. The lady in charge of hiring is incompetent; should've been hiring anyways for the past several months and hasn't (not due to a lack of applicants either).
I consider myself the hardest worker of the team, and one of the best in the whole place. Well, instead of being rewarded with even so much as a peptalk, my superiors have seen fit to tell me that I'm not doing enough. Like holy shit really? Are they taking credit for my work or are they just retarded? Track record at this place isn't all that great to begin with. I'm not in a position to leave as I need the money to put myself through college, but I'm thinking about hopping on the minimum effort squad at this point.4 -
Recently made a sub 750 euro in home server with raid 1, to back up all pc's laptops and smartphones in the house to. Never been better!
Using a simple little daily backup tool on all pc's, and another app to sync 2 way to my phone, i was able to have all my data safe on that home server.
It even allows me to edit content on my phone which will sync overnight, because of the way usb access is shit on android since.. 5.0?
I am loving it! Worth every penny and week of setup effort.3 -

Is there any other place in this world besides Switzerland where you get a fucking fine of ~ $40 for driving ONE bloody km/h too fast??? It’s about 0.7mph.. (after subtracting tolerance to be fair)
In other countries I drive they wouldn’t fine at all because it’s not worth the effort..1 -
Rant...ish? It's more mixed feelings...
Had my first day yesterday at a new job in a big company. I came dressed really nicely in a suit and tie. Went to orientation with everyone new coming in.
Felt like I made the right choice to up my effort in dress code.
Met with my manager, was led to my team. Everyone is dressed casually. Unshaved. Giving me hate stares.
Felt out of place. But kind of happy that I can try less.
Still. What's up with programmers and being toxic to people dressed nicely o.0 I don't need to look like I came out of crunch time every single day to prove my worth...
It's really weird getting these looks. It's almost like highschool all over again. When I let my mother dress me and looked like the nerdiest kid on the block...
Then again, today I'm wearing sneakers and causal clothes. I either feel like I cave in to peer pressure... But at the same time I don't mind it. Erghhh... Still hate this...
Mixed feelings... I donno.4 -
So we started a new Unity video game project for mobile in June 2021. Hooray!
Being a mobile project, one of the earliest things we think about is scaling the interface across all sorts of device screen resolutions and aspect ratios, right? Well, to preemptively solve this problem early on, I decided to letterbox the game view - just choose one aspect ratio for the game and pad black bars to the sides of the screen. Simple, solves the game's world space problem without trying too hard, and it automatically adapts to Android's split-screen mode.
I showed the early builds to management as well as game design team and they gave me some general nods. Sounds like green light ahead. I spent the next few months building the game logic and scale the UI around a consistent letterboxed game view. If you had experience scaling Unity UI to a letterboxed area, you should already knew that it takes a whole paradigm of its own that's kinda hard to break out of, but the fact that it stays consistent across all screen aspect ratios is so worth it. Regardless, the biggeer benefit of letterboxing is simpler world space setup. You don't worry about whether this particular area will be overflowed horizontally or vertically in a particular device or not. You have a 9:16 window to view the world through, nothing needs to move at runtime and that's about it.
Fast-forward to early September 2021 and 40+ builds later, the GD started having concern that the playing area is not filling up his phone screen and that the letterboxes are bothering him. He wants to get rid of the letterboxes and wants the game world as well as UI to fill up his screen.
Yes. After 40+ builds, for all of which the letterbox was present, nobody in the project raised a concern about the letterbox. It's only NOW that they all of the sudden side with the GD and demand the removal of the letterbox. I feel like almost half of my effort on this game has been wasted. These clueless guys didn't spend one second looking at the early builds thinking of the possibility that the black bars at the top and bottom of their phone screens (which I repeat: has been around since the very first build) is gonna bother them? Somebody must be playing a cruel joke at this company. They had all the chances to bring this up as a potential issue and TODAY is the first time I hear of it.
See, designers. You waste our time and your time by doing this kind of thing. Please raise your issues early. Complain to us ASAP. If you wait for so long before raising an issue that has been in-your-face the whole time, I can't fault any developer for assuming you're trying to play a long prank. I can tell designers right now: it's not funny.1 -
I absolutely hate software to the point where I started converting from sysadmin to becoming more like a dev. That way I could just write my own implementations at will. Easier said than done, that's for sure. And it goes both ways.
I think that in order to be a good dev, you need these skills the most:
- Problem solving skills
- Creativity, you're making stuff
- Logical reasoning
- Connecting the dots
- Reading complex documentation
- Breaking down said documentation
- A strong desire to create order and patterns
- ...
If you don't have the above, you may still be able to become a dev.. but it would be harder for sure, and in some cases acceptance will be lower (seriously, learn to Google!)
One thing I don't think you need in development is mathematics. Sure there's a correlation between it and logic reasoning, but you're not solving big mathematical monsters here. At most you'd probably be dealing with arrays and loops (well.. program logic).
Also, written and spoken English! The language of the internet must be known. If it's not your first language, learn it. All the good (and crucial) documentation out there is in English after all.
One final thing would be security in my opinion, since you're releasing your application to the internet and may even run certain services, and deal with a lot of user data. Making those things secure takes some effort and knowledge on security, but it's so worth it. At the most basic level, it requires a certain mindset: "how would I break this thing I just made?"4 -
If you ever get a chance to refactor a 5/6 years old code , just do it .
Dont loose hope , you'll eventually have a great time .
Its totally worth the effort and time . I learnt so many things. (still in the proccess)5 -

yesterday i completed around 5 months of working out 5 days/week. this has been incredibly hard as i never worked out for more than 2 days in my 24 years on earth.
but i took a pic of mine in the mirror and my fat belly gave me the most depressing sight to see and question whether it was worth the effort.
i mean, surely i can do 50+ pushups now and have started seeing a few changes in shoulder/ chest area, and a few friends/collegues have appreciated my working out habit , but not getting out the only area that i want to go away, this sucks :/
tbh my plan was to see where this experiment of creating a new hobby goes and i did not do the hard steps (like doing cardio more than body part workouts and taking calorie deficit diet). am also a vegan and didn't consumed any fitness products like creaine nd stuff, so not a very nutrition rich diet.
guess i can't ignore the hard steps anymore . just once in my life if i could get a split chiseled stomach :/ (and maybe some cute girlfriend)4 -
It's awesome when one of your favorite apps removes one of your most used features!
Edit: Jk the feature's still there, just buried in a menu making it almost not worth the effort to use the feature.
Fuck you Spotify 🖕🏻7 -
This talk by Rich Hickey had a tremendous influence in how I approach my work:
https://youtu.be/f84n5oFoZBc
His Hammock Driven Development is my absolute favorite when it comes to work principles in programming/engineering. It also the one that is the hardest to explain to most PMs and leads because it can look like you are slacking off while others are producing hundreds LOCs. That you'll write better, less error prone code that won't need as much QA iterations is something you first have to prove to them but to me, it's well worth the effort.
If you have 40 minutes of time, do yourself a favor and watch the video. Maybe it'll have as much influence on you as it had on me 😃 -
Huge number of "no social life" response for Wk111 question sounds alarming to me.
I totally understand how our job can make us alienated from everyone around us. That's why we need to make extra effort to be part of a society. This is the reason I love devrant, where we all can share our solitude. Having said that, social interaction in person is really important. You should try to meet new people, go out of your comfort zone, take some risk, be venurable because in the end it would be worth it.
Being alone is a very fragile state to be in, like a ticking bomb.
I'm not sure if this applies to everyone but it does to me. I would like to know your opinion guys!1 -
Early on in my freelancing career I learned something important. Even with seemingly tame nerdy stuff, sh*t can get real, real quick. This story describes the very start of my career in web development and hopefully will serve as a warning to newbies out there.
A young teen, I had just learned some basics of wordpress, I was confident I could hack together something that worked and looked okay with minimal effort and knowledge. One day I was approached by a guy who wanted a job board board site. Knowing there were already clones out there I figured this would be an easy gig, man was I wrong.
In addition to the fact I didn't know about contracts or the scope creep from hell, I had somehow gotten myself involved with a criminal business front.
These guys operated a scam business to rip off investors. Me and my designer buddy were used to make the business look legit. What they would do is hold job fairs where people are supposed to pay to rent a booth, but instead they would give everyone a booth for free and then lie about what all businesses were coming. They would then show this info, along with the website and marketing materials to investors. They would take the money from the investors and launder it for drugs.
The real story starts the day of one of the worst hangovers I had ever had. I was at a random friends house sleeping for most of the day.
Apparently one of the guys who was operating the scam business was about to strike a deal with one of the investors when something on the website didn't work (it was working as designed). This guy, Manny we'll call him, had been blowing up my phone all morning. I check my voicemails and there are threats on my life; saying I will be sleeping with the fishes, or if they ever find me, they'll fuck me up. Needless to say this really freaked me out, either way I decided to head back to my dorm.
When I come back home, my designer buddy tells me that some guys were in the house looking for stuff. Apparently this guy hired two nerds to "break into my computer and steal the website", fortunately they didn't know what they were doing.
After a while I got another call, Manny wanted to sit down and "talk things out". Being naive I accepted and we met up. The two nerds were there with one of his body guards. He said he wanted to have those two nerds take over the project. While this was going on, his bodyguard flashed his gun at me several times making eye contact. I agreed to, but I still wanted to get paid. I asked about getting paid and he said we never signed a contract and that he owned the host and domain. I was pretty much screwed.
This is where the story should end, but I wasn't a very smart guy back then. I gave up the site but I created a back door into it. Every week or so, they would get "hacked". Because the two nerds didn't know what to do, they ended up coming back to me for help. This is when I finally got paid. Totally not worth it. -
I just stumbled across this post about signed-only mails: https://k9mail.github.io/2016/11/... (TL;DR: Signed-only mails are not worth it).
So far, I've been signing all my mails (as not that many people I know use OpenPGP, so I'm far from encrypting everything). I've got a few replies like “I can't open that attachment” and “What is that .asc file?” but I have seen it as doing my part in motivating more people to use encrypted mail with little effort.
I DDW for a bit but couldn't find any other comments on the usefulness of signed-only mail per se. Consequently, I'd like to ask you: How do you use OpenPGP?6 -
fucking "premium subscription" is just a reboot of the "bundling" bullshit from the cable companies.
no i dont really wanna pay 4 bucks to rent a shitty halloween flick for 48 hours that i randomly got nostalgia for, nor do i want to pay an additional 8 bucks a month for your streaming service that i hardly use to begin with to include Starz or whatever.
oh a free 7 day trial will get me access you say? oh but of course you need my credit card first just to verify that im real and then conveniently charge me when i forgot i signed up and keep my money after i cancel.
too lazy to torrent. movie wasnt that great either, so not really worth the effort.7 -
For all the effort it takes to setup CI/CD it's totally worth it. My god this is marvellous I've wasted over 40 build minutes already just to see a spinner spin until it turns green :-D2

Anyone here experienced with Route53?
I have a small issue I'm trying to think through on how to achieve with minimum effort and maintenance, essentially set once and walk away and never care about it again solution.
Basically what I have is:
sub.domain.com
and I need to get it to redirect over to
otherdomain.com/folderToGetTo/
Using a 301 would be ideal but how for the life of me do I go about serving a 301 redirect over a dns entry - short answer is I can't unless I'm missing something!
Both domains are owned by the same company so no issue in hijacking a subdomain... well besides internal politics but that's just another day 😏
First thoughts include setting up a S3 bucket with hosting and forcing the dns to that and then, redirect out of the bucket... seems overkill but will work.
Hoping to find a smaller solution that I don't have to justify a S3 bucket being used for a single file - audits suck alright🤷♂️
Oh and setting up a redirect at the originating domain will take longer then it's worth to setup and get approvals for so not worth the effort internally.
Yes I will accept "fuck off @C0D4" as an answer.question popcorn supplied c0d4 has a question redirect why can't we do it like normal people route537 -
Tried to work in a corporate setting. Failed. After so many fights, product manager was constantly rejecting my work until I had no choice but to throw in the towel. Spent the next few years slaving away as an open source dev. Not begging for donations. Just decorum when I eventually launch. Instead, I get repudiated by the community, get my account banned at the location where I could have accessed the largest pool of relevant audience. No influencer or dev rel/advocate will respond to my supplication or say beyond a compliment
Barely pick up the pieces, to reimmerse into employed labour. Dozens of applications sent out. My inbox is silent as a graveyard. I start putting more effort into tailored cover letters for each opening, across multiple job boards. One finally rejects me
Even tried changing stack by applying for internship roles in nodejs. A dead end
So, I can't read cuz I was researching for my magnum opus. Now it has gone belly up, that's no more worth it. I also cannot work because my work is complete. It's just sitting on github like a mummy. No interactions, no stars or issues.
Posted on show HN. Not even a single upvote. The funny part is that even when I tried to lament my woes on devrant, their site has been down for hours
To think I was among those who trolled ronaldo with the "rejectnaldo" gimmick. Karma has turned around to bite me in the ass. Rejectnmeri
What to do with this enormous amount of empty time? I neither go out nor watch movies
Even though I'm not terminally ill or gnashing my teeth in physical agony, This is a rare moment when I wish not to have been born. There is no joy in life that makes unpalatable suffering worth it. Why does everything I do have to be contingent on the whims and choices of others? And I have to keep living like that, otherwise I'll return to my village to become a subsistent farmer, cultivating produce to eke out a living. Or seek unskilled labour, earning peanuts for waiting tables. It's a pathetic state of affairs.
All of this sucks tbvh

Last week I hired a friend of friend to work on my projects. Hes a young and friendly guy. However he never worked in actual office and it shows. During the meeting he brings his phone and in the middle of explaining he pulls out his phone to respond someone back. Basically lacks professionalism and has this young person cockiness where he thinks he is competent to handle everything while in reality last week he did 2-3 hours worth of work. I want to set up some boundaries but I dont want to seen as a harsh dictator. On the other hand Im paying him over the top even though he doesnt have skills, but the least I want to is a decent attitude and effort. How u would advice me to approach this and teach him to get his shit together? Im already becoming resentful and next week if he keeps treating his work like a school project I will let him go.
Im really trying to setup a nice environment for him to work at, I rented a nice office in a hub space and also bought entirely new laptop plus monitor setup for him to work. I even took him for drinks and lunches but for some reason I start to feel that hes taking that shit for granted and Im being too good.
Hes not proactive, it seems that he will do bare minimum that I give him.8 -
Manjaro has some quirks that annoy me(no MST timezone, spotty support for my WD NVME), so I decided that since I'm not interested in any pre-configured graphical desktop of any kind, I should just dive into Arch, since it increasingly felt like that's what I was doing anyway but with Manjaro to dull the blow. So I did, and I am over the moon for doing so. Lots of gnashed teeth, but DDG indexes an answer to every question I've had, and it always makes sense when I find it. I've enjoyed having to dive into systemd in a much more low-level way than ever before-- to actually LEARN what it's doing, how, and why.
But one by one, I have been faced with some issue that I need to resolve, and one by one, I've knocked them off. The result now is the best work and gaming desktop I have ever used.
Arch is not for geniuses or wizards. Just patient people who are willing to read. The payoff is staggering, and many times over worth the effort.4 -
Portfolio websites...are they good, bad, or meh?
As I’m already contemplating making a move from my current (first) dev job due to the fact I’m a glorified data entry clerk, I got thinking about creating a personal/portfolio website.
I already have a domain name, I registered it years ago and just keep renewing it. So I’ve pointed that to my GitHub pages site, and will do some work on this over the weekend.
My question is, are they worth the effort? Would a prospective employer bother to take a look if it was on my cv or linked in?
What pitfalls should I avoid?4 -
I feel like most of the problems people are ranting about would never happen if they worked in a proper environment with lint checks, unit tests, e2e tests etc.
It's worth the effort to get it!4 -
Thinking about running through the Linux From Scratch book. Anyone had experience? Worth the effort?1

ChatGPT is blocked in my country, I had to get creative to finally create an account but holy shit it was worth the effort. That thing is freaking fast and I am honestly a bit worried about how these technologies will evolve in the future. Well time to make my boy GPT write me some code 🤪12

I want to teach you two peacekeeping methods that can help you diffuse difficult situations.
Method 1: before engaging in a heated internet argument, ask yourself: “What is my absolutely best case scenario endgame here?” To me, it’s often something like “Yes, you’re right, my entire life up to this point was a lie, I will read everything you wrote as a prayer every night to strive to be like you in every way.” Yes, this will definitely make my day, but in the grand scheme of things I won’t care. So why settle for less? The grand prize of this special olympics isn’t worth the effort.
Method 2: reading the intent. When you feel uncomfortable talking to someone, ask yourself: “What is their intent? Why are they saying me this?”
If the intent is to tear you down, see method 1. Anyone can be fooled, no exceptions. You losing an argument doesn’t diminish who you are, at all. If you fear it will, then work with your fear directly. It probably has nothing to do with this one argument.
If the intent is to help you, but they don’t know how to explain it without sounding hostile, then discard their tone. Read the message, accept it and tell them “Yes, you’re right, I get what you’re saying.”
Saying “I was wrong” immediately makes people perceive you as brave. It’s the virtue of strong people to be able to admit defeat. -
I run a small review site that focuses on online casino bonuses, game descriptions, and rankings. The structure is pretty typical. The current version is mostly static with some templating and tracking tools.
Lately, I’ve been considering adding some kind of community feature. I’ve seen other platforms mix review content with user forums, and it seems to boost engagement and trust.
From a technical standpoint, I’m not sure what the best approach is. Would integrating a comment system or even a forum be worth the effort? I’m concerned about performance, spam, and moderation.
If anyone here has transitioned from a static content model to something more interactive, I’d appreciate your input. What challenges should I expect?7 -
Hey guys.
Yesterday I saw something about real-time Implementations using deepstream.io and been asking myself if I should try to add it to the project I'm working on (Angular).
It's important to say I'm working for free, because it's a school project, which in the end is going to be used by real people and solve real problems inside my school.
BUT it's not a required feature. It's more like a matter of vanity.
It's just id don't know if it's worth the time and effort. Or if it will work at all2 -
tell me guys what would you prefer:
function a(){
..
b(..)
..
b(..)
..
}
function b(p1,p2,p3,p4,p5,p6){.
...
}
or
function a(){
..
b(..)
..
b(..)
..
}
function b(
p1,
p2,
p3,
p4,
p5,
p6
){
...
}
if you read this rant before expanding, you got a complete context on how what function a is, its calling b 2 times and how function b looks.
if instead of the first option, i had used 2nd block, you wouldn't even know the 2nd param of b function without expanding this rant.
my point?
i prefer to keeping unnecessary info on one line. and w lot of linters disagree by splitting up the code. and most importantly , my arrogant tl disagree by saying he prefers the splitted code "for readability" and becaue "he likes code this way, old-eng1 likes this and old-eng2 likes this" .
why tf does an ide have horizontal a scrolling option available when you are too stupid to use it?
ok, i know some smartass is going to point that i too can use vertical scrolling, but hear me out: i am optimising this!
case 1 : a function with 7 params is NOT split into 7 lines. lets calculate the effort to remember it
- since all params could have similar charactersticks ( they will be of some type, might have defaults, might be a suspendable/async function etc), each param will take similar memory-efforts points. say 5sp each.
- total memory-efforts= 5sp *7 = 35 sp.
- say a human has 100 sp of fast memory storage, he can use the remaining 65 sp for loading say 5 small lines above or below.
- but since 5 lines above are already read and still visible on screen, they won't be needed to be loaded again nd again, nd we can just check the lines below.
- thus we are able to store 65+35+65 = 165 sp or about 11 lines of code in out fast memory for just a 100sp brain storage
case 2 function with 7 params IS split into 7 lines.
- in this case all lines are somewhat similar. 5sp for param lines as they are still similar which implies same 35sp for storing current function and params
- remaining 65sp can only be used to store next 5 lines of 13sp as the previous code is no longer visible.
- plus if you wanna refresh the code above, you gotta scroll, which will result in removing bottom code from screen , and now your 65sp from bottom code is overwritten by 65sp of top code.
- thus at a time, you are storing only 6 lines worth of code info. this makes you slow.
this is some imaginary math, but i believe it works9 -
someone gets in my Discord server, asks "can anyone download a file for me? DM me" in the bot trap, and leaves.
Is it worth the effort of trying to track this guy down so I can get new malware or is it not worth the risk of CP?4 -
how hard is it to set up a wordpress site? i hate to ask but am too busy just to try.
i always build everything from scratch, but my mother constantly asks for a new website providing wp-templates as examples. none of my past fancy features were used so i am a bit tired of putting in the effort. is it worth it or would i just create technical debt? what about security concerns, updates and upwards-compatibility with new php versions to come?3 -
A lot of people have asked me to do their coding assignments for them. Ignoring the fact, that this lack of knowledge will not give good results in the next exam, i have done that a few times for my relatives.
So, being asked by externals I wont do that for free. (7-10h of workload) My question, what would you guys demand for such tasks. Is it worth the effort (students are poor)?3 -
Skipping jasmine tests- especially ones on partials (not the controller). Seriously, QA has automated test suites to test UI functionality. If it takes 30 mins to write the code and 3 hours to write the tests... it may just not be worth the effort when there already is automated testing.
Ugh I hate skipping them but you know how to test the UI? Use the UI. -
We’re only random people living in random places, speaking random languages, eating random food, sleeping, studying and working random hours. Traveling to random points on a sphere.
Just random range is different.
Just random stuff happens on crossroads of two random dots and the entropy speed ups or slows down.
Nothing special at all.
Just a finite state machine iteration.
I mean the amount of effort we put into explanation of infinity is outstanding.
What if there is no infinity at all ?
What if infinity is just misunderstanding of our interpretation of the world around us. It’s just pixels, resolution, gaussian splatting, quantum state, you name it.
Hey man the world is flat. Just put it to the 2d space. How many space you need from a simulation perspective where your patient eyes can only see up to certain amount of light particles per second on a shitty lens.
Propose a world optimization techniques by slowing down subject perception, tiredness introduced. Compress memory, sleep introduced. Limit neurons, cpu power assigned. Deploy on cloud - put it to life. Exit 0 body failure. Exit 1 suicide. Kill -9 killed by tty from ip EARTH.X.Y
What you can do to make the world around this planet alive? Make it blink.
We developers are lazy and I believe that nature is even more lazy than us.
You think you’re going to elevator right now ? You’re going to the preloader. Looking at the window equals playing video from playback. Never goes live, just precomputed fsm. Cars, trains, airplains ? Preloaders everywhere. Highways to split traffic to cities and communication. The road and cities planning department is a matrix maintenance department. And don’t get me started about space.
Space is empty because it’s not even finished. So they put it all behind glass called milky way. You know how glass looked 500 years ago ? It was milky so it’s milky way so we don’t see shit.
If the space would be finished I’ll be starting writing this text from mars, finished it and sent from earth but no it’s light years guys, light years is not a second for a matter. Light year is a second of the the injected thoughts exchange only. Thoughts of the global computer called generative AI that they introduced on local computing devices called cloud.
Even the preloader system is not present, they left us with the one map and overpopulated demo. What a shit hole.I bet they’re increasing temperature right now to erase this alpha build and cash out. Obviously so many bugs here that his one can’t be fixed anymore. To many viruses.
Hope for 0days to start happening so we can escape using time travel or something.
I bet they cut a budget or something, moved the team to other projects. Or even worse solar system team got layoff off because we are just neurons that ordered to do it. And now we’re stuck in some maintenance mode, no new physics no new thoughts to pursue, just slow degeneration. I would pay more for the next run and switch to other galaxy far far away where they at lest have more modern light speed technology.
What do you think about it Trinity ? Not even worth wasting your time for that. No white rabbit this time.
I do not recommend this game at this stage of early access.
- only one available map despite promises for expansions over the years no single dlc arrived,
- missing space adventures
- no galaxy travel mode only a teaser trailers of what you can do in other “universes”
- developers don’t respond to complains
- despite diversity of species and buildings at first sight world looks to generic
- instead of new features bots with mind manipulation, AB testing and data harvesting was introduced
- death anti cheat mode installed -
i went out with my whore blonde ex for coffee.
i went out because i need to destress my mental state or else its completely fucked beyond repair
1. she came with her car to pick me up
2. she drove me to the restaurant i chose
3. i paid for my coffee, she paid for her own coffee. Yes i do not give a Fuck to pay even for a coffee, for a fucking cheating whore
4. she drove me back to my house
5. while she was driving i cuddled her around the neck back and shoulders, which made her horny
6. when we stopped in front of my house we kissed and one thing lead to another she wanted me to fuck her
7. i fcked her as a quickie in my house and she fucked right off out of my house and went home
this is for every cheating whore punishment, she has to put in at least x1000 more effort if she ever wants to see me again, and she accepted to be this desperate. i use her only for what shes worth--pussy. but honestly i cant tell who's at an actual loss of self respect here--me who continues to see a cheating whore ex gf who fucked several random guys even for a 1 night stand, or her who accepts to pay even coffee for herself, and drive me around in her car (at least i get a free ride and not spend shit on a fucking whore!) GOD i fucking hate whores from my very fucking core! if it was legal i would put to death every whore, they are like cockroaches--worth nothing but causing destruction wherever they go. FUCK them.15 -

After losing my Bitcoin to a cunning scammer who ensnared me with alluring promises of exorbitant investment returns, I believed my foray into the world of cryptocurrency had come to a disheartening end. I had invested a staggering $100000 worth of Bitcoin into what appeared to be a legitimate trading platform.
The website was impeccably designed and the representative I interacted with exuded professionalism and acumen. However, as soon as I finalized my investment, communication dwindled to a trickle. When I attempted to withdraw my funds, I was met with the harrowing realization that I had been locked out.
My stomach plummeted as the grim truth dawned on me: I had fallen prey to a classic scam and my hard-earned savings had vanished. I turned to online forums, spending countless sleepless nights scouring for potential solutions. I even immersed myself in a documentary on crypto fraud hoping to uncover some semblance of hope. Instead, I found myself engulfed in despair acutely aware of the sophistication and cunning of these scammers. It seemed that once your Bitcoin was pilfered, it was irretrievably lost in the labyrinthine depths of the blockchain. Amidst my despondency, a close friend from church mentioned SPARTAN TECH GROUP RETRIEVAL.
She had heard about them from a community of crypto enthusiasts and believed they might possess the expertise to assist me. Skeptical yet cautiously optimistic I decided to reach out albeit with tempered expectations. From our initial conversation, it was abundantly clear that SPARTAN TECH GROUP RETRIEVAL was a cut above the rest. They approached my predicament with candor and realism, meticulously outlining the formidable challenges inherent in recovering lost cryptocurrency.
They emphasized that the process would be arduous and that there were no guarantees yet they pledged to exert their utmost effort. What resonated with me was their unwavering transparency. Unlike other services that made grandiose promises, SPARTAN TECH GROUP RETRIEVAL focused on delivering tangible results.
They conducted a thorough analysis of my case, employing advanced methodologies and leveraging their extensive network to trace the stolen funds. Their team worked diligently keeping me apprised at every juncture of the process. Their relentless dedication bore fruit. After weeks of tireless effort SPARTAN TECH GROUP RETRIEVAL successfully traced and recovered my stolen Bitcoin.
The relief and gratitude I experienced were ineffable. Thanks to their expertise and steadfast commitment I was able to reclaim my financial future and restore my faith in the cryptocurrency realm.2 -
As a truck driver who spends long hours on the road, I understand the value of hard work. My job demands long shifts, constant focus, and time away from loved ones. To make extra income during my limited downtime, I started mining cryptocurrency. After months of dedication, I finally saved enough to buy BITCOIN through P2P on Binance. It felt like a major milestone. I was proud of what I had built, turning my effort into BITCOIN, an asset I believed in. That pride quickly turned into heartbreak. Someone I trusted scammed me out of $85,000 worth of BITCOIN in a single transaction. I was crushed. I had sacrificed sleep, missed out on time with friends and family, and worked relentlessly, only to have everything taken from me in seconds. The emotional and financial blow was devastating. Still, I was not ready to give up. I started researching ways to recover stolen BITCOIN and came across TECH CYBER FORCE RECOVERY. I saw countless testimonials from people who had lost cryptocurrency and managed to recover it with their help. Desperate but hopeful, I reached out and shared my story. To my complete shock, TECH CYBER FORCE RECOVERY managed to trace and recover my stolen BITCOIN within just 21 hours. The funds were safely returned to my wallet. I cannot describe the relief I felt. Months of hard work were not wasted after all. My belief in BITCOIN as a store of value had been shaken, but thanks to TECH CYBER FORCE RECOVERY, I got a second chance. Even more incredible, their team helped law enforcement track down the scammer responsible. That person was arrested, and justice was served. I could finally breathe again, knowing that the person who took advantage of my trust was held accountable. Cryptominers Net was a platform a friend introduced me to while we were in school. At first glance, it seemed like a great opportunity. They advertised high returns from cryptocurrency mining and positioned themselves as a legitimate investment platform. The idea of making passive income, along with some attractive incentives, made it all very appealing. Feeling confident, I decided to invest a significant amount, hoping to see a good return. Initially, everything seemed to be going well. I saw some small profits, which reassured me that the platform was legitimate. But things took a sudden turn when I tried to withdraw some of my funds. That’s when I realized something wasn’t right. The platform started asking me to invest more money before I could access my original funds. It was a red flag I couldn’t ignore. As I looked deeper, I began to understand that Cryptominers Net was operating as a triangular scheme, a type of setup where they use money from newer investors to pay supposed "profits" to earlier ones. There were no real returns being generated. The illusion of profitability depended entirely on new investments coming in. When I refused to invest more, their response was to cut me off completely. Emails, calls, messages everything was ignored. It became painfully clear that I had been scammed. At this point, I felt completely stuck. I didn’t know what to do or if there was any way to recover what I had lost. Thankfully, my sister, who had been through a similar experience with another platform, shared her story with me. She had worked with a recovery agency called Digital Resolution Services, and they had successfully helped her. Encouraged by her experience, I decided to reach out to them with all the details I had about Cryptominers Net. From the moment I connected with them, they treated my case with professionalism and care. They asked for all the necessary information about my communications with Cryptominers Net, transaction details, and other relevant records and got to work right away. They even took on my sister’s case at the same time. After weeks of consistent effort, they were able to track and recover the money I had lost. This entire experience was incredibly stressful, but I’m grateful for the support and persistence of Digital Resolution Services. Without their help, I wouldn’t have been able to move forward. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s to be cautious with platforms promising quick returns. Scams like Cryptominers Net prey on trust and can be devastating if you’re not careful. For anyone who’s found themselves in a similar situation, don’t lose hope. There are people out there who can help. I can’t guarantee results for everyone, but based on my experience, reaching out to a reputable team like Digital Resolution Services might be worth considering. I can rewire a human brain, course through the most sensitive neural pathways, and restore life with steady hands and a sharp scalpel. But it would appear none of those prepared me for the horror of a hardware wallet that had decided it wanted to self-destruct.
It had been years since my Ledger device had sat comfortably in my drawer, unvexed and pristine, like a relic from my earlier Bitcoin investment days. Then came the fateful evening when I decided to switch it on-just to check on my stash. That is when I got greeted by an error message so incomprehensible that it could as well have been written in ancient hieroglyphics.
At first, I kept calm. I had been in life-and-death situations before-surely I could troubleshoot a problem with my wallet. Rebooting? Nothing. Firmware reset? Even worse. With every attempt, my precious $680,000 worth of Bitcoin seemed to slip further from my grasp. The real panic set in when I realized that I had stored my recovery phrase somewhere "safe"-so safe, in fact, that even I couldn't remember where it was.
Hours of frantic searching, multiple YouTube tutorials, and a last-ditch effort to reach out to Ledger support resulted in one grim conclusion: "Your funds may be irretrievable." As a neurosurgeon, I’m used to bad news—but this? Unacceptable.
That is when I discovered Digital Tech Guard Recovery. A little skeptical I was-if they couldn't help me, a manufacturer of the device, then how would anyone else? I had nothing to lose. The moment I reached out to them, I knew I had done the right thing: professional, transparent, confident that they could recover my lost Bitcoin.
They basically performed some kind of digital wallet emergency surgery, getting everything back in six days. Through what can only be described as magic, by way of forensic techniques, they bypassed corruption and extracted my private keys and every Satoshi, to boot. If it stopped there, that would've been great; then they walked me through how to properly secure my assets going forward-no more "too safe to find" backups.
I may be the expert in the operating room, but when it comes to resuscitating a dead crypto wallet, Digital Tech Guard Recovery is your team on call. Cold storage has failed; Don't try to self-operate, just get the pros in before your Bitcoin flatlines.1 -

"Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful." This quote has always driven me as a truck driver, where every mile I log is for my family’s future their comfort, security, and dreams. However, my pursuit of stability was shattered when I lost $130,000 in Bitcoin to a cyberattack after a careless decision while delivering goods in California. During one of my routes, I stopped at a shop to take a break and noticed that a Wi-Fi network was available. Thinking it would be convenient to connect and check my crypto accounts, I didn’t consider the potential risks. The moment I saw my empty wallet later that day, my world collapsed. That money represented years of sacrifice late nights, missed moments, and relentless effort gone in an instant. The guilt and helplessness were crushing. In my desperation, I scoured the internet for solutions, only to hit dead ends until I stumbled upon Digital Tech Guard Recovery. Initially skeptical but with no other options left, I reached out to Digital Tech Guard Recovery. Their team responded not just with expertise, but with genuine empathy. They understood the emotional toll this loss had taken on me and my family. Digital Tech Guard Recovery meticulously traced the stolen funds through the blockchain, working tirelessly to achieve what felt impossible: they recovered my Bitcoin. This ordeal taught me that vulnerability isn’t a weakness; even the most cautious can fall victim to unseen threats. It also reaffirmed the power of resilience and the importance of trusting the right people, like those at Digital Tech Guard Recovery. This was a harsh reminder of the risks we take in our digital lives, but it also highlighted the strength we can find in community and support. Today, I’m back on the road, driving with renewed purpose. My family is secure, my faith in humanity restored, and my definition of success has been refined. It’s not just about wealth; it’s about perseverance, love, and the courage to seek help when all seems lost. If you’ve faced a similar nightmare, don’t give up. Hope exists, and sometimes, it takes the right ally, like Digital Tech Guard Recovery, to reclaim what was stolen. Digital Tech Guard Recovery was my lifeline, proving that even in the darkest moments, redemption is possible. Keep fighting your success and happiness are worth it. I downloaded a crypto wallet app that appeared legitimate, complete with a sleek interface and positive user reviews. Trusting my instincts, I deposited a substantial amount of $180,000 into the wallet, convinced that I was making a wise investment. However, my optimism quickly turned to despair when I woke up one morning to find that the entire platform had vanished overnight, along with my hard-earned money. The scammers had executed their plan flawlessly, shutting down the app and leaving me with nothing but empty promises and a drained account. In a state of panic and fury, I scoured the internet for solutions, desperately seeking a way to recover my lost funds. It was during this frantic search that I stumbled upon Passcode Cyber Recovery , a company that specializes in tracking and recovering stolen cryptocurrency. Intrigued and hopeful, I reached out to their team, who moved swiftly to address my situation. The experts at Passcode Cyber Recovery identified the scammer’s accounts and were working diligently with legal authorities to freeze those assets. While I understood that no recovery is guaranteed, Passcode Cyber Recovery provided me with a fighting chance, something I had thought was impossible after the app had disappeared without a trace. HOW TO TRACE AND RESTORE BACK SCAMMED BTC WITH THE HELP OF SALVAGE ASSET RECOVERY
A chef, my kitchen is my sanctuary; a place where precision, passion, and creativity collide to birth gastronomic wonders. I know every knife, pan, and spice like the back of my hand. One night I found out in a rather brutal way that there are not many things that truly do not belong in the kitchen. The bad news was that my hardware wallet-the keeper of my $700,000 in Bitcoin-ended up being one of those things.
It all started innocently enough. I had been deeply submerged in a five-course tasting menu, counting every second, all while balancing five orders at the same time. My head, as usual, was at lightning speed, and in that full second of absolute chaos, I did the unimaginable: I dropped my hardware wallet into the deep fryer. Yes, you read it right. In the blur of flipping scallops and plating foie gras, I'd somehow managed to turn my financial future into a crispy, deep-fried disaster.
The moment the wallet hit the hot oil, I heard the sizzle. In that split second, I knew something catastrophic had just happened. Panic set in like the sudden drop in temperature when you open an oven door too soon. No chance that I'd be able to retrieve my $700,000 worth of Bitcoin from that deep-fried nightmare. Standing here staring at bubbling oil, it came into my head to close my restaurant for the night and go into hiding. But no, I have to face the music.
Well, I tried removing the wallet from the fryer, cleaning off the oil-anything for a miraculous recovery. But it was well beyond help, like any overcooked dish. That's when I decided to reach out for help. Enter Salvage Asset Recovery. Skeptical, because, let's be honest, who wouldn't be?, I called them in utter panic.
What happened afterward was, of course, a miracle. The experts at Salvage Asset Recovery handled my case with professional precision, laced with emotional empathy. They assured me that this wasn't the first time they'd dealt with such a disaster and reassured me they would be able to help. After weeks of relentless effort and expertise, they managed to recover my $700,000 in the charred remains of my hardware wallet.
Now, I have a new rule: my kitchen is for food, not for fin-tech. Thanks to Salvage Asset Recovery, I finally learned an important thing: how to compartmentalize my passions. They also saved me from the biggest mistake of my life. THEIR CONTACT DETAILS

FAST AND RELIABLE COMPANY TO RECOVER YOUR LOST BITCOIN DIGITAL TECH GUARD RECOVERY
What began as a straightforward effort to manage my crypto savings quickly turned into a distressing ordeal. I had been holding Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), and XRP, and decided to download what seemed to be a legitimate cryptocurrency wallet app from the App Store. The interface was flawless, closely resembling the official wallet I had previously used. With no apparent warning signs, I felt secure enough to transfer $150,000 worth of Bitcoin into the app. A few days later, I opened the app to check my balance, only to be met with shock my crypto account displayed a balance of zero. I attempted to refresh the app, hoping it was just a temporary glitch, but the grim truth soon became clear: I had fallen prey to a sophisticated scam. The app was a fraudulent imitation, designed solely to deceive users and siphon off their funds. I contacted Digital Tech Guard Recovery, a cybersecurity firm renowned for recovering stolen digital assets. Their team promptly initiated an investigation into the scam. Within days, they traced the counterfeit wallet app back to a developer located overseas, who had a history of similar fraudulent activities. I soon learned that I was not alone this was part of a larger scheme targeting cryptocurrency users worldwide. Thanks to Digital Tech Guard Recovery, I managed to recover all of the money I had lost. The recovery process was intense, but their efforts paid off, and I was able to retrieve the full amount of $150,000.This has reinforced my commitment to safeguarding my digital assets. I now thoroughly vet app developers and only trust links from the official websites of reputable crypto platforms. While the incident was both financially and emotionally taxing, the successful recovery of my funds has provided me with a sense of relief and security moving forward.

The testimonials seemed legitimate, and the website design was sleek and convincing. I had dabbled in crypto before, so I wasn’t completely naïve or so I thought. Over months, I invested gradually. The Risks of Online Crypto Investment: A Cautionary Tale

Online crypto investment can seem like a promising opportunity, but it’s crucial to recognize that there are no guarantees. My own experience serves as a stark reminder of this reality. I was drawn in by the allure of high returns and the persuasive marketing tactics employed by various brokers on platforms like Instagram. Their polished presentations and testimonials made it seem easy to profit from cryptocurrency trading. Everything appeared to be legitimate. I received enticing messages about the potential for substantial gains, and the brokers seemed knowledgeable and professional. Driven by excitement and the fear of missing out, I invested a significant amount of my savings. The promise of quick profits overshadowed the red flags I should have noticed. I trusted these brokers without conducting proper research, which was a major mistake. As time went on, I realized that the promised returns were nothing but illusions. My attempts to withdraw funds were met with endless excuses and delays. It became painfully clear that I had fallen victim to a scam. The reality hit hard: my hard-earned money was gone, and I was left feeling foolish and defeated. In my desperation, I sought help from a company called Rapid Digital Recovery. They specialize in helping individuals recover funds lost to online scams. Their expertise and guidance have been invaluable during this difficult time. While I remain cautious and skeptical, I’m hopeful that they can assist me in retrieving my funds. This has taught me an important lesson: if something seems too good to be true, it probably is. I urge anyone considering online crypto investments to be extremely cautious. Do your research, scrutinize the brokers, and avoid rushing into decisions driven by hype or pressure. The world of cryptocurrency can be volatile and unregulated, making it a breeding ground for scams. while online investments can be appealing, they come with significant risks. Protect yourself by staying informed and skeptical. Learn from my experience and prioritize due diligence over quick gains. Stay away from unverified platforms and be wary of offers that sound too good to be true. Your financial security is worth the effort to ensure you’re making safe and informed decisions.

CRYPTO & USDT SCAM FOR FAKE INVESTMENT HIRE SPARTAN TECH GROUP RETRIEVAL FOR RECOVERY
I lost $375,000 worth of Bitcoin to a phishing scam disguised as a climate research grant. I'm someone deeply committed to sustainability, and I was eager to invest in what I believed was life-altering research to assist us in reducing our carbon footprint. The email itself seemed flawlessly professional, with sophisticated branding and plausible promises of scientific advancement. Inadvisably, I clicked on the link and inputted my wallet details, only to discover afterward that the entire project was a scam. My Bitcoin was siphoned into the digital ether, and I was left feeling cheated, both as an investor and as a person who had backed environmental progress. I later, in despair and anger, turned to social media for help. My enraged outburst was seen on Mastodon by a very well-respected sustainability advocate who advised me to reach out to SPARTAN TECH GROUP RETRIEVAL. They had seen the worst of cryptocurrency scams in our community and could vouch for their ability to track even the faintest blockchain trails. Desperate, I reached out to them on WhatsApp: + 1 ( 9 7 1 ) 4 8 7 - 3 5 3 8 OR Telegram: + 1 ( 5 8 1 ) 2 8 6 - 8 0 9 2 . Their forensic blockchain unit treated my case with the priority of a high-level environmental investigation. They carefully sifted through transaction records, untangling the complex web of addresses the scammers had used to launder my funds. They followed up on every lead with relentless attention to detail, all while speaking in clear, jargon-free language that even an environmental activist could understand. It was 13 nail-biting days of round-the-clock work, but I eventually received the life-changing news: my funds had been recovered. My $375,000 was restored, bit by bit, as though the digital trail itself had come to return what once belonged to me. The relief was immeasurable. SPARTAN TECH GROUP RETRIEVAL had not only retrieved my stolen Bitcoin, but they had also restored my faith in the resilience of the crypto community. I restart my environmental activism today with renewed passion and a safe crypto wallet.
