This was at a hackathon which my study organises yearly. It's a 24 hours challenge and you've got to work in teams. It's always from 12 (noon) to 12 (noon the other day).
Another group of programmers was pulling their hair out because of their code not working, it kept crashing and they didn't see it after more than an hour (half of the team had difficulties with keeping their eyes open and it was about 3-4am so we were already programming nearly non stop for about 15-16 hours).
Walked by and offered to take a look:
"YES PLEASE FUCKING HELP"
Took a look and about two seconds later:
"oh you're missing a hashtag there *points*"
All programmers at once: MOTHERFUCKER! (or in Dutch: GODVERDOMME!) (motherfucker contextualizes the situation better imo)

I remember my first "Software Engineering 2" class at University. The teacher, a pompous son of a bitch that later on gave proof of his vast ignorance, greeted us with
"so ... You call yourselves programmers, right? What's the biggest program you have ever wrote? Something along the 100, maybe 200 lines of code? ..... If you've never written at least a MILLION lines of code software, you're not a software developer"
Even at that time, with my lack of experience in software development, I had that feeling in my guts telling me "writing myself a 1M lines of code software .... Brrrr that's something I hope I'll neve have to do in my life"
Turned of he was one of those dinosaurs stuck with the love for gargantuan monoliths of software like they used to do.
Just to dive you the whole picture, the course had ZERO software development and focused only on how to manage wonderful waterfall projects, how to write all types of software documentations and the final project was ... Writing a ton of documentation so boring and useless that even he didn't care to read through.
we still laugh at the episode when another group asked us to borrow one of our documents and after one day they asked "hemm ... Have you really sent this to the teacher?" "yes, why not?" ".... at page 23 someone left a comment saying 'what the fuck is this shit?'"5 -

I remember calling C#, C-Fis, because this was the only other name for this symbol than Hashtag and C Hashtag sounded wrong. But C Fis sounded wrong too and then I decided to just don’t say it’s name and if I have too say C Hashtag or Fis or whatever, which was definitely the worst option.

This rant must be because of my oldness. I was never into Pokemon, but my oldest kid was.
So the hashtag for Pokemon Go makes little sense to me. It could just as easy be an insulting Poke Mongo (ie harazzing a Down's Syndrome person) as Pokemon Go.

Im in the process of developing a tool for small comunity of gamers.

Currently you have to use notepad++ in order to modify .json files that contain unit properties.
I downloaded grep for win to check for patterns in those .json files to understand how they work
I ran a simple search and...
Avast decided to frezze my pc for 20min to check 300 files because winGrep accesed them...

Working from home is still not without its challenges. I’ve been doing it for 6 years. Today I solved the dilemma of how my wife can book her own events where I’m needed to watch the kids during the day. This was a one day project :
I created an app that would directly read feeds about our travel website when they hashtag about their experiences on twitter ,and automated it to pass it through a very minimal machine level algorithm to identify the sentiment of the tweet. (Good ,bad and neutral). The analyzer was about 40 percent accurate,but it did better with training the keywords.This not only helped the Global Communications perform better at their work,but were able to close out most of the issues on a day to day basis.4 -

I've got a many to many relationship between idea and hashtag.
Currently i can POST an new idea with new hashtags just fine, but if i then POST a new idea, with the same hashtags, it tries to insert the hashtag again into hashtags on sql server, and fails since the hashtags should be unique...
What i expect of it is to just update junction table using the already created hashtag from first POST and create the new idea 😅21 -

Instagram posts can be either images or videos. If you request a media object through user's media or media by ID, you get link to the media and, if it's a video, link to the thumbnail.
But if you request it through a list of media in a hashtag - you don't get the thumbnail, because fuck you, that's why. Make it yourself or something. Fuckers. -
