My prof suggested me to use matlab instead of Python for my project.
So I started learning and found out that in matlab ARRAYS START FROM 1.
Wtf!
I am going back to python8 -
People always say how they lost couple fucking hrs because of a bloody ';'.
You know what.. '!' are mush worse.
I just lost 2.5 hrs debugging because i had written if(x){} instead of if(!x)
semicolons you can find at compile time.
! are the true morons20 -
After 2 weeks of node, I go back to my buddy python. Write some code. Get tons of errors.
This is what I did at at least 10 places. 😔😑11 -
Searched "Shutdown" and Windows recommends me to install 2 different apps or make a web search for it instead of an option to shutdown my PC.
If this is the kind of "AI" Microsoft is making, I think we should be concerned 😒29 -
Runs some python3 script in terminal
Me: This script is going to take an hour to complete.
#After 50 minutes...
Me: better copy this line...
#Presses CTRL+C instead of CTRL+SHIFT+C

After 3 months of using it, Manjaro KDE has become my new love.
Just purchased a new machine. Installed it as primary OS.
Not only is it faster than Ubuntu, it looks gorgeous.12 -
Someone tried to push a patch in prod while demo was going on in front of CEO.
Good thing they locked the repo before the demo. 😏3 -
That moment when you spent an entire day making an awesome webpage (dark themed) and your pm tells you to change almost everything in it because he wants a light-themed website.
Fuck Everyone
(BTW now half the website is dark-themed and other half light-themed because pm doesn't know what he wants)5 -

When I was in 8th grade and was learning to code (c++), I sincerely believed that calling a function within a function simply calls it again (like in a loop) . I had never heard of recursion.
And I actually made a small project in which I called a function again and again thinking that calling another terminates the previous one.
No wonder my program kept crashing. I have still kept that code with me as a wonderful memory.
I know this isn't particularly interesting, but I just saw that code today and felt like sharing this...3 -
I removed mic permission from Google and Google play Services, and now Everytime I make a call, I get this notification. wtf. Is Google listening to my calls or what.
Any devs here who know why tf does play services requires mic while I am making a call...?20 -
Today, I suddenly received a "build error" email for master on a project that I am working on with my grp.
So I panicked and opened the log to see who messed up. This is what I see -
Ok... I have been desperately trying to control myself from pointing it out to my pm that it's pronounced as "GIT" not "JIT". If he says that one more time, I might not be able to control myself...6

Us has officially started using CRISPR on humans
Guess the next gen programmers will actually be like:8 -
Ok Now I am getting fed up of
"I am programmer , someone gave me printer/mobile/tv to repair" jokes/rants/memes.
Once or twice is fine. Now they are just reposts with slightly different content. Not funny anymore. Just irritating.
Why do people have to follow a trend here. Have some ingenuity guys.8 -
Why the fuck does your API have to send 401 when the server is down.
Just spent an hour thinking something was wrong with my auth wrapper.3 -
With the announcement of WSL2, I am really concerned for linux DEs.
I use linux distros not just for the kernel but because most linux DEs do a far better job that windows ever will.
But the next gen programmers probably will never leave their shit systems for any distro because guess what... thay can just use WSLs.
I would probably have done the same.
You need to use a linux DE (Gnone/KDE/etc.) for at least a couple days to understand how great it is but people won't do it because windows is good enough and they can achieve most tasks in wsl.
Linux Foundation already doesn't care about DEs. (And why would they... Microsoft is filling their pockets).
I hope people still find wsl crap and have enough reasons to give any linux DE at least a few days try.
Wrote from my Manjaro KDE :(40 -
My first dev project was 6 years ago in which I made a fucking gui application in c++ using fucking TurboC++.
And used no gui libraries. Used to draw circles/rectangles/pixels right on screen using graphics.h library
Was fun though3 -

1. You find out a new song
2. You love that song.
3. It's your favorite song now.
4. You keep on listening it on repeat for like a 1000 times.
5. Now you hate the song.
Is it only me or is this common ಠ︵ಠ5 -
That moment when you were finally able to make a plugin after 36 hours of frustration for a software with absolute shit docs and not many resources thanks partly to a small article (written in german which you had to translate) that you found lurking in the corner of web. 😌2

The WiFi at my office requires username and password to sign-in and logs out after every few hours. Then I have to tap on "sign in" and submit the username and password again.
Is there any fucking way I could automate this.......?12 -

I found the height of my laziness today.
While watching youtube videos, I watched a whole 3 and half minute Ad and did not click on the "Skip Ad" button because I was too lazy to get up and move the mouse or even press a single key9 -
I just found out today , that my pm had mistakenly committed the email id and password of his account(which he probably used for testing) in the public repo in github.
Although he subsequently removed it, I can see it in commit history.
The point is.....
I don't kinda like him...
Any mean ideas....?11 -
Got my unix stickers today 🤓
Thanks to @gitlog for telling me about this and also to the person who posted it here for the first time7 -
Fed up with my windows becoming too slow, I decided to go for a fresh start.
Now it's stuck here from past 1 hour4 -
Why the hell do we always have to go into the settings to set a sleep timer in Google Play Music... Can't Google just put a button in the menu where the song is playing.....
Also you can't open the left panel from main music page coz it causes the song to change....
PS: My First Rant1 -
Going to start my first internship tomorrow. My first exposure to real tech world. Hope everything goes well. Wish me luck! 🙏4

My friends and I decided to have a match of HOMM6
So, I booted in Windows after almost 3 months and the first thing that it does is run into an update.
IT RESTARTED WITHOUT MY PERMISSION
Had to wait nearly 1 hour until the update finished
My friends started without me X(

I belive that except stock android, every other custom android UI sucks.
Especially Samsung UI and MIUI
Who else shares my opinion?7 -
!rant. Story from my college abt 6 months old.
We had to make projects for our course.
One team made a very nice project. One part of that was mobile no. verification using OTP.
And the student who was supposed to to that, did it by sending the required otp to the frontend page, and when user enters it, validate it using javascript.
The prof got mad about it and the rest of the class couldn't stop laughing.
Just remembered. Thought it would be worth sharing. -
Tried to log into my laptop 4 times and got wrong password. Fumed for full 5 mins before realizing that I was using password of workplace laptop.

So we have an internal license server for intellij.
Installed idea, tried to connect to license server. It wouldn't connect.
Got at least, 10 devs and the admin to look at the problem. No one could find why it was not connecting.
After full 2 hours someone got the idea, came to my laptop and fixed it. Turns out windows firewall was blocking all requests from intellij.
Fuuuuuuuck5 -
We have a list of 1.5k different dependencies for various projects. And they wanted to check if each of those deps has been approved by the management.
They have no way to automate this. (I believe there is always a way to automate any fucking thing but my pm says there is no way)
And no employee in the company was keen to do this task so they decided to give it to interns.
Now I am sitting on my table, copying each and every dep, pasting in the browser (on their portal ) and noting down if it's approved. If it's not, I have to note the latest version that had been approved.
I have been doing this from morning. 400 done. 1000 to go.

Who the hell named it POJO.
That "Plain Old" doesn't make sense at all. They could have just named it "JO"8 -
I am working on the backend of the event website and my PM expects me to also design logo for different sub-events.
Apprantly it's part of my job.
Awesome1 -
I uninstalled ES File explorer couple months ago when reports emerged of them misusing data. Was unable to find other explorer until I came across Solid Explorer.
Amazing app. Had to pay something around 0.5$ or so but it's totally worth it.
Feature packed with uncluttered UI. Many themes to choose from. Really awesome. Hats off to devs

Quad Booting my laptop with Manjaro-KDE . Let's see how this one turns out.
This is my third Linux distro after Ubuntu and Fedora.
Been using Ubuntu from past 2 years.
Hoping to move on to Arch in next 6 months if I like Manjaro
Currently I have 1 Windows, 1 Ubuntu, 1 Kubuntu and now a Manjaro2 -
From past 2 days I have been trying to learn to type without looking at my keyboard.
Can't see any progress. Typing speed has reduced by 80%☹️
Maybe it will get better after I properly learn.
Anybody got any suggestions ❓12 -
Just spent 30+ hrs on an error that was due to using flatMap instead of map.
I feel stupid!
Pro Tip: Never try to learn Spring without learning java properly. -

So since I don't use VLC and I'm pretty annoyed by the fact that it needed to remind me it exists, I decided to purge it.Then not 5 minutes later I realize that, oh fuck, Konsole is missing. In those 5 minutes I had also installed Steam and thought that was what fucked it all up, then I reinstalled Konsole and somehow VLC was back.
Then I tried to just apt remove VLC instead and boom, Konsole was gone
So, sorry, but are you fucking kidding me!?1 -
Just saw that Ubuntu 19.04 extended the live patching option to desktop users and we no longer have to restart the system after a kernel upgrade.
And here we have windows which restarts after every bloody security update.
How come Microsoft is such a big shit that they can't put a feature like this in WIndows. They definitely have the resourses and the people. I think they are just lazy and don't think it's "important enough"11 -
In connection to my previous rant :

Searched on various forums, everyone seems to have conflicting opinions.
If I want hibernation to work correctly on my laptop , do I need to allocate swap equal to RAM (some are also saying double 😥) I have 16 gigs of RAM, so allocating 32 gigs (or 16 gigs) swap seems like a waste of space. Will do only if absolutely necessary.
I am running manjaro KDE by the way7 -
For some reason github is not working on my wifi.
First thought it was down.
But then found it's running from my phone data.
Tried calling isp. They say it's working .
Anyone here who can help.... ?
Currently running from my mobile data but it's too slow..... 😢9 -
I know how many people hate systemd. I started reading about it a week ago and I am enjoying it. Seems a much better alternative to previous things.
Is there something bad I should know about...2 -
So I installed Manjaro KDE yesterday.
The one thing that's bugging me is that Pacman seems to have very slow speed. I am not able to hit above 100Kbps.
Is there a specific reason for this?
I searched ol but couldn't find any answers4 -
Just switched from konsole to xfce4-terminal as my x11 terminal on my debian vm. And boy does it ever look beautiful right out of the box compared to konsole1
