One day my mum got a call from a man claiming to be from Microsoft. He said there is something wrong with the computer and tried to make her install TeamViewer to "fix" it, but my mum didn't manage to install it for several hours until he gave up.
Sometimes knowing even less can save your PC.7 -
Story time!
This is “Güero” (Blondie), the only cat I know who can use a computer.
I was at university. I couldn’t take my laptop to class because it was too huge, so I had to use remote connection.
One day, I connected to my laptop from the library, and everything was ok except that I couldn’t move the mouse! 😱 It was like somebody on the other side was using the mousepad. There was nobody in my house, just Blondie.
My solution? I called to my house. The cat heard the ring and left my laptop. It sounds stupid but, believe it or not, it worked! 😂

> Receive sudden phone call in the middle of the night
> Check caller, unknown number
> "Either something bad happened or it's something urgent. I'd better answer."
> "Hello?"
> Friend of friend of friend says he updated his gpu drivers and now has some random fps drops.
> I was in a good mood so I agreed to help him over teamviewer, even though I don't know him.
> Downgrading to an older version of nvidia driver seemed to have fixed the drops.
> 5 minutes later, he calls again. His headset is not working properly.
> Helped him fix the issue over teamviever.
> This continued for at least 2 hours, calling me every 5 minutes to install just another driver or change some random win setting. Turned out he had some retard format his pc because he thought it'd "make it go faster".
> Calls me again, this time he's pc isn't booting up at all. After 20 minutes on the phone the fucktard admits he just tried to reformat his pc because "my pc automatically installed a bad windows update" ( no, I don't understand either) but he fucked it up.
> I begin explaining him how to make a bootable usb stick, how to change the boot order etc to reinstall windows. I even suggested that I'd help him setup win/drivers after windows's done installing.
> He lets me go for about an hour explaining.
> "So that's it. When the setup is over, call me again and I'll help you install the drivers."
> "Bro this sounds complicated, why don't you come over? This won't even take you 5 minutes"
YOU MOTHERFUCKING PIECE OF SHIT
YOU FUCKING TRASH
CALL ME AGAIN AND I'LL SHOVE YOUR GIGABYTE GEFORCE GTX1060 6GB UP YOUR ASS, PERPENDICULARLY
The motherfucker even called me "bro"6 -
My friend called me for help with her CSS. I was like no problem go to Teamviewer.com and install that software. 10 mins later she called saying teamviewer didn't fix her code. I'm done!4

When you have to fix your mom computer over the phone for 2h because you can't access through teamviewer... That rage you feel while you think "ok, breath, she had to teach you how to use a spoon once..."4

If a teamviewer sessions counts as "screenshare", I've got a good one.
The company I'm working for also got an internal video player in the webfrontend of it's product. A customer called in, because the player "stays black", instead of playing his videos. It's a player for a media library of the customer, so it can be any content. A collegue did some trouble shooting, but since the customer was not very experienced in IT they arranged a teamviewer session. At the appointed time, my collegue called the customer and asked him to reproduce the issue, while watching via teamviewer.
When opening the media player, it stayed black indeed, so my collegue asked the customer to try another video. From my desk I heard my collegue say "Oh god, no" (phone muted) pretty loudy and he asked us to come to his place quickly. The customer decided, it would be a good idea to try the video player with gay porn. So we stood there around my collegues desk, watching a hairy man, getting his asshole licked by another an even hairier man for a few secs.
The customer stopped the playback, said "ok, maybe the other file was just broken.", thanked my collegue and the call was over.
We had a few similar cases.5 -
I wish not to have seen this... And they are using a personal lisence... :/
I mean, if you are using for commercial purpose, then fucking pay for it!3 -
Spent more than an hour on client's computer trying to figure out why it was rendering a font in bold, while every other device I tried (even with same browser/OS/screen DPI) rendered it in normal weight. Google Fonts were loading fine. After banging my head into TeamViewer window for the Nth time, I found the problem. The font was installed on client's computer locally, so it was overriding remotely loaded Google Fonts. What's the problem then? The local version only had bold version.
Deleting the local font fixed it.7 -
Connect to client's workstation via teamviewer to fix some issue..only to found out he was watching pornhub...PrtScr!!!!6

Hey guys :(
The rant will be long.
Today was one of the worst day ever.
I'm feeling so shitty right now.
I'm 19 and I started my apprenticeship about a half year ago on a very small company.
From day one I had many things to do, every day is hard and a new experience. But I'm learning a lot.
Two months ago I had my very first presentation for a client. I was really excited and nervous but everything was fine and the client as well as my boss were proud of me.
Today I should present again a prototype for the same client. But this time not directly personal, instead we did it via TeamViewer. After the client finally found out, how to open and start this shit, the disaster tooked its course.
After explaining him the conzept, I wanted to show him in the software. For some reason it suddenly stopped working. I've just made a change recently which leads in all appeareances to an error .
Because of that error I couldn't proceed, so I have to explain and show him the data I created before I made the changes.
With that everything Just worked fine, I could explain and visualize everything. It didn't Matter and didn't changed anything, only the Name was a Name from me.
The client was very relaxed about this error. He said that it is a prototype , it is not serious.
Furthermore I showed and demonstrated him everything.
But my boss wasn't very surprised and Happy about me. He made me responsable for the error, I should have prepared everything better and this all was Shit.
This made me really, really sad. It sounded so hard.
I know that I've made a mistake, but it's human. I'm only 19. I'm not perfect. Sure, I could have prevented it, if I had tested all possibilites right after I had made the changes again. I prepared the whole presentation on the weekend, on my personal freetime. I spent so often so much time in my freetime just for my job, for my apprenticeship. To get what? A fat bite, a kick in the ass. I'm doing so much, but this is not acknowledged. But when I make something wrong - then I'm the shittiest person.
Damn. Don't know how to handle this situation. This has gone to far today.
Yeah, I could have tested More, but I only tested the existing Data. I prepared the presentation very Well. This is so sad.11 -
My friend loves Dreamweaver... And continuously says that he doesn't understand what people see in it that is so wrong... It does the job right?...... Fucking blind...
Uses a bootstrap plugin which generates HTML code for bootstrap.
I did not know this at the time.
Comes to me the night before submission.
He: Dude i need help quick! I've got the presentation tomorrow morning and bootstrap fucked up the links to my style sheets or something, my page is broken and won't work. I should have done what you did and gone for Foundation...
Me: Yeah, because the bootstrap framework definitely affects the style links...
He: help me out man, please! I can't do this anymore!
I had my submission the day after him to prepare still...
Me: Teamviewer. Now.
Log on to Teamviewer.
See what he's using to code...
Dreamweaver..... Niiiiice....
I go through the code. There are empty divs with &nbsc; in them everywhere.. some HTML elements haven't been closed, no comments, indentation seems to be completely random. All the usual shit storm of a novice web designer.
The only thing is, this guy I know knows how to indent, I've seen his previous work. Why is this so horrible then???
I ask what the hell happened, it looked like a nuclear explosion happened!
He: Yeah I'm using this great plugin for Dreamweaver which lets me click and it puts in Bootstrap elements! It's great!
........ You're blaming the bootstrap framework for affecting your links to your stylesheets, you're using an elements generator, you're not checking what the FUCK it puts into your code, not fixing the indenting, not checking the standard HTML rules are followed AND YOU WONDER WHY IT'S BROKEN???
Kill me now.4 -
When she asks you to help her via TeamViewer but refuses to share her TeamViewer password cause you'll then be able to "hack" her.4
-
This was in my first semester in college. Some dude installed Teamviewer on any PC he got the chance to. There were people (idiots) who saw him remotely access PC and thought he was some crazy hacker!....
Damn. The amount of idiots I've come across with shitconceptions on hacking.4 -
Inception.
Today I needed to check something in a remote server: this was the easiest way:
1: teamviewer to my home pc from university
2: started a vm on that machine with vpn connection to my work office
3: rdp to a windows server vm
4: ssh to a vm on our hosting cluster
5: from there, ssh to the server that I needed access to7 -
"PLEASE COME QUICKLY OUR INTERNAL NETWORK IS FUCKED!
-Uh, mam', could you describe the problem?"
Spent an hour, trying to fix this "network issue". Basic level 1 and 2 support. Can't connect using RDP on the server. No teamviewer either. Unplug, replug everything. Restart the server, the router, the switches. I knew that it was something dumb. I spent 3h on the highway.
To find.
That the fucking.
Ethernet cable.
Was plugged oN THE MOTHER FUCKING ILO PORT! FUCK HP, FUCK THIS, FUCK ME BECAUSE I SHOULD'VE ASKED FOR A PHOTO.
"It's fixed, mam'. Did you touch something when it was working?
-Uh, no, I swear. Also, could you please take a look at our printer? It's not working. It was out of ink so I changed the cartridge yesterday, but today it's not working!"
The cartridge was not inserted correctly.
Then she nicely made me a coffee, thanking me for the fix and asking what the problems were.
Just kidding.4 -
One of those things that put a smile on my face happened today.
I (like many devs) am fond of Linux. So I use Linux on everything.
I'm currently doing an internship abroad in Finland(Linus Torvald's country!) for my college.
So there is this Finnish student who uses Linux. And after a while he asked what I was using so I told him that I'm running linux(arch+i3 like all the cool kids).
So one day he was like; But can you game on Linux?
I was like, yeah sure, might not work as well as Windows but some games run native and some can be emulated through wine. He was like; Hmm maybe I'll try it out.
So he installed Linux mint on his laptop and came to work. I was rather proud (even though he installed the bastard child of Debian and Ubuntu).
So far I've helped him set up streaming games from his pc to Linux and port forwarding.
But then came the big boy. Since I always try to teach him some stuff since they don't teach him a lot at his school.
He asked me if I could help him set up a plex streaming server on Linux.
So we took an old computer and installed Ubuntu Server(Lot's of information for it).
Installed and configured plex server, qtbittorrent-knox and all kind of goodies.
I started showing him how to use ssh, how the rights system works, etc.
It broke my heart a little that he want to be able to teamviewer in it.(since it's running openSSH daemon)
So he installed Ubuntu's desktop ontop of it as well as teamviewer.
It ran slow as hell because the PC has an old crummy core2duo and ddr2 2gb of ram. It chokes when multitasking.
So seeing that as well as telling him everything that can be done with a GUI can be done in CLI.
I saw the lightbulb lighting up. He gets it now. He understand the power of Linux.
That just made me smile all the way home.1 -
I have to connect to a VPN, then RDP onto a machine halfway across the world and then use TeamViewer to access the client's test environment 🙄.
And during a Skype call, one our boss says 'There's too much lag from your end'😤10 -
So, I just learned that all clients connected with TeamViewer to the same server share all their clipboards to everybody. I now have a lot of passwords that I shouldn't have.1
-
Huge thanks to the inventors of TeamViewer, as it allows me to stay in my bed and pjs all day and still make every client think I'm in the office working :)3
-
It took forever to get SSH access to our office network computers from outside. Me and other coworkers were often told to "just use teamviewer", but we finally managed to get our way.
But bloody incompetents! There is a machine with SSH listening on port 22, user & root login enabled via password on the personal office computer.
"I CBA to setup a private key. It's useless anyways, who's ever gonna hack this computer? Don't be paranoid, a password is enough!"
A little more than 30 minutes later, I added the following to his .bashrc:
alias cat="eject -T && \cat"
alias cp="eject -T && \cp"
alias find="eject -T && \find"
alias grep="eject -T && \grep"
alias ls="eject -T && \ls"
alias mv="eject -T && \mv"
alias nano="eject -T && \nano"
alias rm="eject -T && \rm"
alias rsync="eject -T && \rsync"
alias ssh="eject -T && \ssh"
alias su="eject -T && \su"
alias sudo="eject -T && \sudo"
alias vboxmanage="eject -T && \vboxmanage"
alias vim="eject -T && \vim"
He's still trying to figure out what is happening.5 -
So the school I visit blocks TeamViewer in their network for the reason that you could bring in malicious stuff.
They happily allow USB sticks though so that doesn't seem right.
Whatever, I used AnyDesk to get stuff from my PC at home (and I never got caught, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to ever use a school's computer again).1 -
So my parents got speakers integrated into their monitor. A few years ago (like 3-4) they made me turn off the sound because it annoyed them since all they did were playing some shitty flash games and some office work. Now they needed the sound back on and this is how it happened.
1. Confirm they plugged the right cable in. I know them so I knew that could be a problem
2. Made them download Teamviewer because I know they can't even doubleclick without guidance
Now the juicy part was to tell them they need to turn on sound on the monitor. As I was watching via teamviewer I saw them trying to click on the menu items from said monitor. Took me 5 minutes to explain that their mouse can't do shit on that because they need to navigate with the buttons underneath the monitor.
Turned out they couldnt get things right and I had no idea what they were seeing because they explanations went like "All I can see is Main Menu and Exit." - "Is that really all dad?" "Yes thats all. Main Menu, Brightness and Exit" turnes out the middle part is interchangable like "Brightness, Saturation, etc..."
After 2 hours I gave up and told them to pick up my speakers tomorrow -
Me: Did you send that email to the client?
Other guy: No, I haven't. But you can send it, but you can send it, use teamviewer and send it from my email client3 -
Used teamviewer to login to my other system to ssh into my other system to reboot cz didn't want to walk 5 steps and press the button.1
-
i had a client that would rather buy me a plane ticket and a hotel night to give me a "CD" than send it to me, just because he wasnt able to upload it via mail.
The data was 230MB of excel files.
I ended uploading those files to my Dropbox using teamviewer.3 -
So for context, I'm doing an Apprenticeship in IT and naturally I've been put on help desk.
I've recently been given a phone on my desk since I'm trusted enough and know enough about our software that there's no risk to me accepting calls.
I get the standard ones, a number from a different country, poorly pronouncing a co-workers name, asking if they can speak to them. I give my normal response, "I'll just check if they're in a meeting and I'll get back to you" (which they somehow always are) and ask if they would like to leave a message. They obviously don't since they're usually scams.
Since Tuesday I've started getting calls from "BT Technical Support". I don't use BT. My company doesn't use BT. So, it's clearly a scam.
Yesterday, the same guy calls me up, Thomas he says his name is. I go along with it for a while, agreeing that I've noticed our network has been slow until the point where he asks me to begin to install TeamViewer. I realise what he's going to do so I ask him what the problem with our network is.
I hear him start to respond but he stops. He's got no clue what to say, so I say to him, "Thomas mate. I think our biggest problem with our BT network is that we don't have BT."
He puts the phone down.
So I ask you for help, lovely people of devRant.
I have a Windows 10 VM ready to go. I have a couple notepad files labelled as "Passwords" and "Bank Details". What else can I throw on there to make this guy think he's hit the jackpot without really causing too much damage?
Any ideas would be appreciated. <36 -
My classmate asked me to remotely download and install Java jdk for him via teamviewer. He's in 3rd year Computer Engineering...
My god.1 -
Cant decide whether to talk about how TeamViewer banned me because they think me helping my girlfriend all the time was commercial use,
or when she saw my porn while abusing my computer's GPU for training her model6 -
Ok so for the first time (doing web dev since a few years) I got this customer who insists to work via TeamViewer on the phone with me doing css edits live. It's a mess and extremely stressful. I told him I don't work like that and today I officially put a stop in this. He's saying that all the other developers are working for him in the same way and that by doing 4 hours sessions of live css edits by the pixel they save time.
Guys, what the fuck are you doing?4 -
There was this motherfucker searching a dev to build a vue component on freelancer.
I applied. 🙄
Then he started to ask me out about Upwork. How he wants to use my account through TeamViewer. And how he will pay me for this monthly.
Why am I magnetic to idiots and scammers? Can some one please Avada Kedavra all idiots? I will pay you monthly. I swear.3 -
Today I attended a teamviewer meeting. The host were using a Mac, running VirtualBox with Windows 7 which was connected to a Windows 8 machine through Remote Desktop (rdp) with a putty session to the server we were configuring.

2009:
friend: I need some help
me: install TeamViewer
2019:
friend: I need some help
me: install AnyDesk12 -
As many of you are, I am too a 24/7 IT support for the whole family.
One time I was going back to uni for the week on a bus when my mom calls that her facebook is acting wierd. You guessed it, it was a virus. Then after 10 minutes of struggling I asked my sister to take the phone because she would understand the technial terms more easily and I didn't have mobile net or wifi at the time to use teamviewer. After 10 more minutes the virus was gone and I explained what happened and what not to do next time.
Later that day her friends got the same virus and my mother proudly told them that she already gotten rid of it and helped them remove it too.2 -
Alrighty, saturday morning rant time!
I just recieved a mail from one of my not-so-much-loved colleagues.
Now Background first: I work in IT-Support. We provide services for other companies. One of those services is monitoring servers and clients for various things. I recently took over the project (was assigned to do it) and restructured everything, wrote new scripts to test more stuff, successfully tested it internally and rolled it out over the last 2 weeks.
Now one of these scripts hooks into the Windows Update API and looks at the update history. It filters for known Windows Update Agent strings (UpdateOrchestrator, AutomaticUpdates and AutomaticUpdatesWuApp in case you also want to do something like this) and then looks for installation errors over the last 24 hours and wherever there have even been any successful updates over the last one and a half months.
Back to that mail.
My colleague sent me this lovely mail about a ticket i opened about his customers servers beeing all out-of-date on updates.
"This is all wrong, everything's fine. I disabled the checks."
...
It's on bitch.
So i logged on to my work PC via TeamViewer, opened my script, connected to the customer and was ready to debug the shit out of my script, knowing i probably won't even need to.
I looked at the update history via Windows Update itself and behold: 1st April. That's almost 50 days in the past.
So the script works, go figure.
Great, so search for new Updates then.
>None found.
Hm. What could it be? Did my super special colleague forget to care about his very special totally-needs-WSUS-customer WSUS again?
Yup.
Online-Search finds a ton of new Updates.
Screenshot, write pissed mail to colleague, re-enable checks, breakfast.1 -
Teamviewer is a piece of shit. I use it to connect to my PRIVATELY OWNED server because it's not located on my lan and I have no other way like VPN. Today teamviewer showed me a suspected commercial use and disconnects all connections after 1 minute and blocks connecting to it for 10. I also use it to connect to my synology nas when I'm not home. The teamviewer support is only for paying customers so you can't even contact them. Why the fuck do I have to pay to get something resolved they screwed up? I know I can be glad that teamviewer is offering a free service but when they offer something for free they should at least get their stuff working.12

What do you do when your client WANTS a shitty website?
If it's considered a UI anti-pattern, he wants it.
I'm pretty frustrated because I keep bringing him what I consider professional-quality work and he's disappointed, asks for something dumb instead. I made the mistake of giving him Photoshop and encouraging him to try to design some of his ideas. I thought he would be frustrated and decide, okay, Patrick knows best. But that backfired. Now I'm forced to answer basic questions about "how to delete the pixels" and end up on TeamViewer for hours trying to explain vector masks.
His current bright idea is to advertise his product with a comic strip. And let me tell you, it looks really, really awful. Not tasteful material-design-esq vectors, he thinks those are dumb, he prefers crude clipart. But he loves it.
I've kind of dug myself a hole here. It's what the client wants. But the client wants a steaming pile of shit. What do I do? Also forgot to mention, dude is my landlord and I'm behind on rent. FML
pic related; it's his comic4 -
So been working with Linux for almost 10 years now, so am not new with this. But yesterday, a friend had difficulties accessing Wikipedia and their sister sites so I tried to help him out, you know, the usual way. Ping, Direct IP, DNS, and proxies/VPN, checking his /etc/hosts, but to no avail. Decided to download TeamViewer and install it so that I can help him out remotely. Went afk for 30min for dinner and when I came back, TeamViewer installation .Deb installer literally uninstalled every single software from my Kubuntu machine, from Spotify and slowly even my file manager and terminal was uninstalled. When it was over, even my grub was uninstalled.
Had anyone faced the same issue before?8 -
I hate this company so much. I was tasked to write a simple program wrapped in an API. They gave me freedom of choice to use any language and technology because I said it'll be deployed in docker anyway.
Now, when they gave me the server, it's Windows Server 2016, of course, without docker installed (or even supported in any way). The access is done via TeamViewer for which I receive ID and password by calling a guy.
Oh, and everything runs as admin. "It's easier that way and we always do it like this."5 -
I haven't turned off my work laptop since over a month. I restart occasionally when Windows update demads it.
I have TeamViewer running in this and since workplace has 24/7 electricity and highspeed internet, i use it if i have to download something huge and important.
In addition to that, I'm using it for something else, which will get me fired if found out.
Believe it or not, nobody has yet noticed since last 6 months that I leave my system running 😂8 -
I build my friend's pc
He didn't had windows
The site where we bought the oem license was messed up
and yes... I had to use teamviewer to disable his adblocker...
Oh, and 12 hours later to activate windows...
And yes, it was me spending 10 minutes on the phone to acivate his windows key since we got a already used license...
Adding it up, including the whatsapp remote support, If I would st art charing I would get rich...1 -
So I'm a "Web Application Developer" but I have to go out on site whilst a trained engineer sits in the office doing nothing. Everything I can do on site I can do from my office with teamviewer. Hit the M25 at 09:00 and will hit it again at 17:00 ... not a fun day2
-
linux mint got wasted and rekt today. in a few hours, we have managed to install git, ssh, terminator and teamviewer. everything failed except for teamviewer. wowie,, i need more time to learn how git works tbh. we tried and tried and fucking tried over and over again until the terminaL WONT TYPE IN WHAT IM TYPING LIKE WHY ARE U REFUSING TO OBEY ME NOW KEYBOArd. the worst part is that i cant even SHUT DOWN because i cant even click on shut down. i had to force it using virtualbox. oh wellll, get ready linux.....
tomorrow is another day!5 -
Fuck you windows!!!
I had to leave town but wanted some surveillance and had no cctv or ip camera set up. So I added my laptop to teamviewer and used its webcam.
Now its not showing up on teamviewer and most likely because WINDOWS SCHEDULED A MAJOR UPDATE
It probably rebooted and went on to boot into ubuntu. Should have fucking run ubuntu in the first place. I am going to be so furious when I get back.
*in case you are wondering, I had to leave in a hurry and didn't go for ubuntu because I had never used the camera in it and wasn't sure if ubuntu had the required drivers *1 -
Earlier I used to help my college batch mates and juniors in coding and development stuff. Sometimes I used to do some projects with them myself to help them learn. Sometimes I used to go beyond limits to debug their errors, even spending hours with them physically or through TeamViewer.
But now I have realised that I had been no more than just stackoverflow.com to them. They just call me when they need me and don't even care about me as a friend.
So that's it. Now I have stopped helping such people. I don't care if that's rude or arrogant. I just don't want to do this. If they still are a friend, well and good otherwise they can leave. I don't care anymore. -
My dad needs my help with an excel sheet and calls me "Hey, need your help to do X, but this computer doesn't allow me to do, how can i do it?"
Me, who has already used skype, teamviewer and (Wahtsapp) video call several times (him too!) and got things done faster this way:"let's do a video call (whatsapp) so you can show me and i can help you better" (my dad thinks teamviewer is too complicated to use)
my dad "oh come on please, i don't have time for this, let's do it this way!"
After i tried to explain him that it would take far more time on the phone, needing him to explain what he sees, telling him the advantages of a video call right now, he ended like "ok forget about it!"
as he said that i kinda fell in a rage, quit the call myself and almost threw the phone against smth.
Seriously how hard can it be??? it's just few phone taps away😥, i would have even proposed to video call him myself to make things easier for him! But he prefers the classical-phone-way which every time takes half an hour just to understand where he's at.
It's just frustrating every time...2 -
So the bus I get into work has been cancelled and my office manager said I could have the day off but I had some important stuff he needed me to finish so I remembered I had TeamViewer installed on my work machine so I'm going to be working from home today4
-
I casually solved a problem in some private code at work today that I didn't manage to fix the previous two evenings.
Then I forget to push the changes and remembered at home that I turned off my work computer which normally I never turn off so that I could TeamViewer into it (I don't have VPN
access).
Wanted to work on that code this weekend 😒
(Well, we were in a "progession session" meeting right before leaving the office so I kind of forgot about it because of that) -
had a teamviewer session today with a guy who listed web development in his portfolio. needed to start a browser session and saw a wordpress link in the favourites. respect gone to 0 now
-
If your relative's computer doesn't have a TeamViewer (or similar) client running 24/7, you're a failure and deserve to have your rant privileges revoked.8
-
Went out for a night of food and drinks and came across one of those little screens/kiosks with what I assume is Windows 10 and TeamViewer running o.o and the credentials open to the public. What makes it even worse is that all the screens in the area I live are connected to the same account. D:
-
FUCK TEAMVIEWER ... HAVEN'T USED THEN FOR YEARS BUT WANTED TO REMOTE FROM 1 ANDROID TO ANOTHER.
Spent an hour setting up dealing with account lockouts, devices verification.... Finally connected all the 2 phones to the account... And TV can't connect... Stuck at connecting....3 -
Our office just moved to a new place and our internet is not yet connected to the line. Our network connects to the web with a mobile access point in the meantime and it's pretty slow.
One of our managers tried to download some large files without success, then decided to try later from home via TeamViewer onto her office PC.
We tried to not laugh.1 -
So this is a short sad story of how TeamViewer redirected to .us from .com
They made me change office for some days since people decide to go on vacation and leave the office empty , since I was too bored to reinstall TeamViewer I decided to use it online
After the whole morning connecting to various pc's and afternoon elaborations suddenly TeamViewer breaks down, I watched the URL and notice I finished on wp-admin , three seconds later I call the devs , two minutes later discovered a small XML tree
Just in time to finish the working day
And that's why you should never change people's offices and leave yours empty -
Fuck TeamViewer.
I've been using it to control my home PC desktop from remote for a few years now (booted PC via Wake-On-LAN, done stuff, shutdown). I started using Chrome Remote Desktop a while ago too, but its ports are blocked at work, so I had to rely on TV some more.
Recently TV more often told me that I was offline (but I wasn't) and more importantly they started blocking my connections due to "commercial usage" (it's my private shit, yo), so now I've moved on to RDP via SSH.
That really makes me feel relieved as I wanted to move away from it for a while now anyways and SSH tunnels also are the real shit.
Today was a good day.3 -

So I'm at my work computer, logged into my laptop two feet away using No Machine, trying to access my home computer using Teamviewer. Where will it end?!
The reason I can't just go from my work machine to my home machine is because we use an older version of Teamviewer than what I have installed at home - just thought I'd clarify before someone asked.undefined maybe a bit harder than it needs to be windows to linux to windows double remote login why do i do this to myself?3 -
Spent two days setting up software remotely through windows rdp through teamviewer several hundred miles away. Today found a malware replacing some exe causing web app to fail. Local partner seems to be blaming us.

"the fight between tor and regimes that censor the internet is a fight of \"well that's not quite apache so it's tor\""
hear me out here:
then fucking don't be.
Switch it up a little, get creative! No one's gonna expect you to be relaying Tor through like a Minecraft chat or a fucking Doom server or over SFTP or Teamviewer or...
(of course it's not gonna be those protocols but they're already faking Firefox/Apache signatures so do that shit with other protocols)9 -
Call me crazy but I'm gonna setup remote desktop connection from my home PC to PC at work which i will never shutdown.
I think it will open up new possibilities and opportunities that i never thought of.
I guess i will use teamviewer.
Any thoughts or suggestions about this?6 -
Can anyone recommend any good code/screen sharing tools?
My use case is that I have a Windows work laptop with a garbage keyboard and I want to share my editor with my personal MacBook without having to clone the repo there or actually share any files.
I tried Live Share on VS Code but the shared terminal barely ever works, and you can't stage files from the editor GUI. I imagine something like TeamViewer would be very slow for this?
I'm not sure if there's any tool that covers this use case or if I should just stick with Live Share and try to workaround its issues. :/9 -
Now the problem arises on how to remote control a linux machine with the i3 window manager. (With gui)
Teamviewer sends the windows key as the alt key and now no shortcuts work ...2 -
Spent a couple of hours setting up an old laptop with opensuse leap and trying to learn the basics of using it so I can simulate a small network (my desktop, a couple of old laptops for specific tasks, and my school laptop) with that laptop as the ‘hub’ Put syncthing on there as a pseudo-cloud system, teamviewer for remote access, and did all required updates for the OS. But literally no idea where to go from there What all should/can I do with this setup useful or otherwise. This is meant to be a learning experiment with a hope for some usefulness from it2

Is it possible to install TeamViewer/AnyDesk on a Debian Server (there is no Display attached to it so it has no real Desktop)?
I installed KDE and xrdp on it and that worked, the problem is that TeamViewer and also AnyDesk have a problem because they both can't find/use the fake RDP Desktop. Well and RDP is just so fucking slow...
So if anyone has some experience in this, I'd appreciate some help.6
