Life Coach: "That's too expensive for a website."

From the director of the department within a large investment bank: "We will be looking into converting all Java code to Cobol because it is easier to work with".
Needless to say I started looking for a new job that night.6 -

Dear Airbnb Hosts,
The extra cleaning fee isn't just extra profit for you. I will gladly pick up after myself, before I leave. That said, if you expect me to deep clean your flat, consider leaving equipment to do so. If you send me a shitty email because I didn't buy a broom, mop, bucket and kitchen rags to stock your investment property, I'll tell you about where you can stick that noise.
Sincerely,
Fuck you7 -
Honestly? People. For the first two years of my career I worked for an investment bank.. Basically working to make rich people richer. That, plus the technology sucked, made me change what I do.
I now work for a company that, while it doesn't cure cancer, it makes products that my friends use, my family uses, even my 1 year old son uses. And knowing I am making a difference in their life in even just a little way is worth it.
Also now that I have a family and a kid, my priorities have shifted and as much as I love coding, my family and kid will always come first now. Could I be making more at an investment bank where I worked 12 hour shifts every day? Sure. But it's not worth it to me.3 -
"Why are these guys faster than us at development?"
"The company that has received millions in investment and has a bigger development team? Yeah no clue man, I guess they are just better than us."4 -
On the presentation for my database project my team and I showed a NodeJS + Mongo + VueJS project with cloud storage capability, nothing fancy but did everything from scratch (from token auth and system encryption to the frontend CSS and the database) the teacher made some questions and meh'd at it.
Behold team two's project, WordPress with a standard template and phpMyAdmin, teacher loves it because "it's so beautiful"
Guess who just failed that class?
God I love college, it's the best time investment I've ever done and it'll surely pay out.12 -
today, after 3 years of waiting, I sold my 2 bit coins in 1000% profit ! best investment of my life so far4

Where I work we develop drivers and command-line software for embedded systems. The contracts we have with our customers tend to be in the £100k-£500k range and are usually completed in 6 - 9 months; our team is made up of 20 developers. You would think that it would be worthwhile investing in the department. But no, instead we have to deal with >10 year old build servers on their last legs; limited numbers of development boards with wires soldered on so that we can keep up with new board revisions; no room for R&D into new products; and to top it all off, not one of the executives has a laptop on par with the placement students in the next department. It's like the company is trying to kill the department, we've seen our staffing dwindle with no new graduate (or higher) positions being made available in the last 3 years while we've lost at least 5 people to other places. I just don't get it!2

So I opened crunchbase newsletter like always to see what interesting is happening in IT.
Looks like app that allow people to send REST calls got investment of 50M.
The moment when you realize that simple UX and sending REST calls using desktop app can make you millions of dollars.
And I am tired again.7 -
I'm going to talk to my supervisor about redoing their code base.
It will take time, it will suck a bit but I think the long term investment in doing this right will be worth it.
Wish me luck in convincing him 😂🤞7 -
I'm a founder of a small startup. We had a board meeting on a Friday, and Thursday night I sent a strongly worded email to the chairman and point investor, both of whom are worth well over $100 million, expressing my concern that we were undercapitalized and they were taking advantage of our youth and inexperience in order to make a quick return on their investment. The board meeting the next day was 2 hours of me getting railed.1

Best motivation for startups...
Usain Bolt has won 9 gold medals in last 3 Olympics and he has run less than 2 mins on the track. That's economy of effort.
Usain Bolt ran for less than 115 secs in total in his 3 Olympics and made $119 million dollars! That's more than $1 million for each second he ran!
But for those 2 mins he trained for 20+ years!
That's investment.👍 -
Son: I've done good investment in Bitcoins
Dad: What is the rate of interest in Bitcoins?
Son: There is no such thing called rate of interest in Bitcoins. Bitcoins are virtual currency. It's kind of money itself.
Dad: So you gave money and got back money? It's not called as an investment. It's called getting change!5 -
Every 2019 tech startup: We do deep machine learning with big data in the cloud.
Investors: Please take our money!5 -
So I finally graduated and got a job with a startup. I had to move to a different province to join it.
Hmm, ok sure. I spent a month planning and buying stuff, rented an apartment etc.
All set right? Plot twist.....
Just about 15 hours before moving there, I get a call that investors backed off from investment and my position was cancelled.
Wtf? Did it just happen? I even rejected a big company offer for this and I am unemployed still!!! Can't believe what can happen sometimes....7 -
I failed at 9 startups
Got fired from two companies
Quit three jobs without notice
Failed out of college
Lost all my money on a bad investment
And now I do not have any money.9 -
"So I have this awesome app idea..."
Proceeds to tell me, "I'll be, like, the face of the company, and you can just focus on the tech stuff, in the background."
Chad called me ugly nerd, so I took his idea, got an investment from his own father, built the company, and sold it.
See Chad got a new job as a sales development rep
At the company I built and sold
Haha epic2 -
Finally getting a raise. 90% salary increase, feels good.
Feels like I can finally start saving for a home and stuff. Too scared of STDs to blow it in hookers so nothing left but investment and savings.
Also messed up and posted as a question.2 -
An uncle of mine, owns an NFT/Betting startup (early 30s, so no veteran and no doesn't know much coding).
Got 3-4m USD as investments.
It's an utter garbage "app" that he knows will die in an year, and he's drawing big salary and buying properties from the funding until he has the "runway" of funds remaining while app/company works in the background
What bugs me isn't that he's feasting on some random investors' petty change, but that such "ideas" get money thrown at them while ive seen 100s of more fun ideas/apps back in uni-days that died in obscurity when people graduated and retired them as projects, being talked about in 1 liner in their CVs.
This world ain't right :v9 -
ughh, studying about various software project management methodologies and lifecycles is so boring.
every different model looks similar, saying :
you got an idea?
- check weather its needed and if its practically / financially possible
- get investment and resources,
- design,develop, test, release
- repeat .
why name them waterfall or spiral or rad or agile or shit?
and we know how project go in reality: "fuck its 2 days to release and 5 features left? push to prod, make breaking features, leave the tests and release"7 -

I have come to realize that my stress comes from how inefficient my clients use their tech.
I have to stop caring. Is it up? Is it running? Good. That should be where my investment ends.
I shouldn't fear a heart attack or stroke because of some clients' inefficiency.
IT'S JUST SO DAMN HARD. -

I'm curious to know how lucrative it is for the people operating those 0-points accounts to post spam comments on this kind of a platform. I don't know the exact numbers of course but I have to think looking for change in your couch cushions is a better return on investment.6

Cybergoattechie ETH, USDC Recovery Firm.
It was never an easy ride to recovering my lost investment funds with the help of THECYBERGOAT RECOVERY FIRM. I lost my hard earned funds $600,000 worth of crypto currency when I invested with a binary option site. A broker I met on Instagram last year deceived and lured me into investing with their crypto company. It wasn’t the right decision by me trusting a total stranger with my hard earned funds which really hunted me. Without the recovery services of thecybergoat(@)techie. com, I could have been out on the streets since I could barely take care of the kids let alone paying the rents which were almost due to expire. thecybergoat professionals took control of my case after I had reached out to them which turned around my story. I was in awe the day when thecybergoat sent me an email requesting I send them my wallet that my lost investment funds have been " SUCCESSFULLY RETRIEVED " and on sending my wallet I received back most of my funds which I thought I had lost forever. about $430,000 was recouped. I never thought it would all end up in glory which is why I urge any victim of scam that there is refuge in thecybergoat team with their mind blowing and efficient recovery services. They were equipped with the necessary tools for a successful retrieval pushing themselves beyond their limits to attain remarkable results for their clients. Well, ask me about a recovery firm which is trustworthy and I tell you thecybergoat can be trusted with the retrieval of your lost investment funds. Don’t let doubts stop you from making the right decision and choosing the right and trustworthy recovery firm to handle your case, with the services of thecybergoat recovery firm, you can be sure of a successful retrieval of your lost investment funds.7 -
This thesis work is legit putting me to the edge, I literally have been hating coding for the past 3 months and it used to be the #1 most beautiful thing I have ever learned to me.

What are some job possibilities for software engineers that are a bit more challenging?
Software Engineering just became routine and with all the hin abstractions during the past years it’s not really a complex job anymore.
Thoughtful about data science but I think I’d get bored with that as well after a few years.
Looking for ideas with:
- technical skills
- have a lot if responsibility
- at least same pay
Would be interested in e.g. investment banking but that seems far out of my league (education wise)..9 -

If, as a Dev, you have not heard of BAYOU, you need to research it, especially if you live in an area that can afford the initial investment. I think this AI technology will mature in less than a decade.
https://sciencedaily.com/releases/...
I don't think this will be limited to software development either, I think this type of AI will lend itself equally well to database development. We live in a technologically exciting, if somewhat unsettling world.5 -
I was a bit intimidated going into my first full time job since I was the youngest on the team. They put me on a small project to start with and it wasn't difficult at all.
After working with my colleague for a while, he came in one morning and asked what I'm doing here.
"I'm at work? I work here?", I replied in confusion.
Then he went on about that I shouldn't be working at this company. He thought I was smart enough to work overseas at an investment bank.
Thanks for the complement :) -

I have gained quite a lot of coding confidence recently.
Im quite confident i can deploy a full working application or a mobile app.
I have some inspiration bit i am still not sure of how much work/investment does it take to make something that generates money.
Of course im not including million dollar ideas. No my goal is to make small apps/applications or freelancing jobs off work to generate some extra money (noticeable enough that the investment is worth the return).
Obviously the best way to learn is to dive in and im not asking to know about your golden egg that you are harvesting.
But do you have any tips/advice or experiences to share?3 -

So usually, you have a product and provide help only for the higher payment tiers. However, time and time again I've stopped using software because whenever I encountered a problem, I could never get help. It's so frustrating. Wouldn't it be a good investment to provide more help? Online investment schemes have become increasingly popular, promising high returns with minimal effort. However, it is crucial to be aware of the significant risks associated with these schemes. Many online investment platforms, particularly those in the cryptocurrency space, operate with limited regulation and oversight, which makes them fertile ground for scams and fraudulent activities. Recent personal experiences have underscored these risks, highlighting the importance of vigilance and due diligence when engaging in online investments. My unfortunate journey began with a company called "CryptoTX," which presented itself as a legitimate crypt0currency trading platform. Initially, I was drawn in by the promise of lucrative returns and was reassured by my assigned account manager, Sarah Malone. She portrayed CryptoTX as a reputable firm with a track record of success. During our interactions, I mentioned my previous experience with another online trading platform, "Click’s Dealer." I had encountered significant issues with Click’s Dealer, and Sarah Malone assured me that it was a scam, further reinforcing my trust in CryptoTX. I started with an initial investment of $1,000, which, at first, seemed promising. I saw some trades yielding returns and even experienced what appeared to be substantial profits. Encouraged by these early successes, I decided to invest more, eventually committing a total of $180,000. However, this initial optimism soon turned into a nightmare. The tipping point came when I began to notice inconsistencies in the information provided by Sarah Malone. Each time I was contacted, I was urged to invest more money to cover "bad trades" or to capitalize on supposed new opportunities. Despite my growing concerns, I continued to follow their advice, largely due to the pressure exerted by the account manager and the desire to recover my previous losses. It became clear that CryptoTX promises were unfounded. My investments, which had initially shown some potential for profit, quickly dwindled. I found myself losing all of my hard-earned savings, amounting to a staggering $180,000. This sum represented my life savings, intended to secure my financial future and support me in retirement. The financial loss was devastating, not only due to the amount but also because of the emotional and psychological toll it took on me. In the aftermath of this experience, I realized that the terms and conditions I had agreed to likely included clauses that absolve CryptoTX of responsibility for investment losses. Many online investment schemes use such disclaimers to shield themselves from liability, arguing that investment inherently involves risk and that they cannot guarantee returns. This legal shield makes it challenging to hold them accountable, despite their misleading practices. Determined to recover my lost funds, I explored various avenues for redress. During my search, I discovered GRAYWARE TECH SERVICES, a consultancy and recovery firm that specializes in helping victims of online investment fraud. The firm had received positive reviews for its success in assisting individuals who had been defrauded by unregulated brokers. Deciding to give them a chance, I contacted GRAYWARE TECH SERVICES. Engaging with GRAYWARE TECH SERVICES turned out to be one of the best decisions I made. Their team provided expert guidance and support, working tirelessly to investigate my case and facilitate the recovery of my funds. Through their dedicated efforts, I was able to retrieve a significant portion of my losses, which was a tremendous relief. This experience has underscored the importance of exercising caution when dealing with online investment schemes. Many of these platforms operate with minimal regulation and oversight, making them ripe for exploitation. It is crucial to conduct thorough research before committing funds, be wary of platforms that promise guaranteed returns, and understand the terms and conditions associated with any investment. while the online investment landscape can offer lucrative opportunities, it is fraught with risks and potential pitfalls. Scammers and fraudulent schemes are prevalent, and it is essential to be proactive in protecting oneself from such threats. Educate yourself about common warning signs of fraud, seek professional advice if needed, and remain vigilant to safeguard your financial well-being.
