Me, flirting with a cute girl from the finance dept. in the kitchen:
"Well, back to the grind. I've got this really nasty bug to figure out."
Her: "It's a bracket."
Me: "Hahaha."
2 hours of debugging later… it was a missing bracket in a json string. 😓11 -
Hi there fellas,
I'm new to devrant and I'll like to share with you my first story.
It was my first payed job. A good friend of mine (media designer in print) called me "My customer needs a website, do you think you can do that?"
At this time I've never build a single page, so my answer was "Of course, easy-peasy".
She told me it was a family business and a nationwide player in finance sector.
I met the CEO, did my research and build a prototype. Well, the CEO and his staff liked it so I finished the website and prepared for the first review.
I booted the laptop and tried to connect to their network. There was none. They just never had a wireless connection not a single cable in the entire office. That was the time I realized that I work for a family business.
The CEO was an ancient guy who probably saw Jesus Christ hanging on the cross in personal and internet is weird thing controlled by the devil himself.
I took the laptop and went over to the CEOs personal office, plugged the network cable out of his Computer and into the laptop. Finally I could show them what I've done.
He took a look at it and called for his assistant. "Might you print that website for us?" That was my second wtf moment.
The assistant returned with a half chopped down and bleached rainforest that contained an image of their new website.
I tried to tell him that a website on paper can't show him the functions n shit, but he looked at me like I was talking two foreign languages at once.
So we reviewed the website on paper and his one and only problem was the size of the letters. "I can't read it well, please make the text bigger" At this moment I wanted to hit my forehead on the table and tell him that it is normal to have readings difficulties when you are walking the shores of Styx.
At the end everything went well, but I realized that dealing with customers is a lot more difficult than developing something for them. The future should prove me right.
That's it.
My first story about my first job.
Thank you for reading 😊12 -
I'm a fucking finance girl. FINANCE. GIRL. Why the fuck am I spending all morning importing databases??
I'll tell you why.. "you are married to a dev. You must have picked something up." Fuck this. Fuck fuck fuck fuck. (no it's not working for the fuck of it, and whoever wrote this program deserves to be hanged by his balls from a tree)24 -

So today our CFO stepped into IT and angrily proclaimed someone using tech@ e-mail and fake name is defrauding company funds buying themselves... "used female lingerie with extra virgin juice" (sic!).
I work for an IPSP, we handle finance for commercial services (think PayPal but smaller). One of our clients is a big platform where girls can sell items like bath water, used socks and more. CFO demanded our admins found out who and when connected to that website, what URLs and so on.
As mentioned, said platform is pretty big, hence, from time to time we help them with their service when they ask us to, that's why we have a tech@ account. Last month there was a minor issue with one of the banks, someone fixed it and, as per usual, made a small payment of €1 topping up the account wallet to make sure everything works. It was an intern whose will to live is still strong and unencumbered with experience so she jokingly wrote "panties juice, extra virgin" in the payment note. What she *didn't know*, however, is that admins on that platform used the very same account to test new billing system they've implemented and our CFO received an invoice.9 -
Do you also like the idea, if devRant would have patreon or paypal for donations?
++ the rant if you like the idea. Maybe @dfox and @trogus will consider it then 😄
Servers are not cheap and it would be great if the community would finance itself.
Sure devRant got a Store, but I live in Europe and ordering/shipping is not so cheap, we got huge taxes for it. And I dont wont to order a stressball or sticker every month.
Also every dev wishes for a beer 🍺 😜6 -
- "Finance are too busy to look at this"
- "Finance have too much to do"
- "We can't this sorted at the minute because finance are overloaded"
Finance just sent me a request for "detailed description" for each business trip i've made. Attached is a spreadsheet report with 122 columns detailing every facet of my travel expenses that they have recorded so far. Not even just one row per trip, but one row per item, like:
- Trip 1 - Airport parking: .....
- Trip 1 - Airfare Outbound: ....
- Trip 1 - Airfare Inbound: ....
This is way you are too busy, because this is fucking ridiculous. Fix your shitty process and stop bitching.
FYI, your "detailed descriptions" can be found in the contracts we've signed, which outline all the travel needs, which you've already reviewed and signed off on. Get your shit together and stop bugging me4 -
First rant
No idea what I'm doing.
30y.o. and I'm learning Ruby On Rails in order to switch from my current job in finance to Web development. Let's see what happens next.15 -
It would be fun to answer "myself", but I'm a terrible boss.
As a freelancer you're also helpdesk, finance and marketing of your own little company, and I'm horrible at those things.
My current boss lets me boss myself within the company, while I still get to enjoy the luxuries of company life — completely shielded from annoying questions, with a stable predictable income.
I do believe that's the optimal structure: Hire people who can manage themselves, and have a drive to improve the company with minimal oversight.
Don't have true "bosses" at all, just some people who are good at bridging communication gaps between the islands of self-reliant teams.2 -
You can believe or not but it’s just one of those stories. It’s long and crazy and it probably happened.
A few years ago I was interviewed by this big insurance company. They asked me on linkedin and were interested. They didn’t specify who they were so I didn’t specify who I am either.
After they revealed who they are I was just curious how they fuck they want to spend those billions of dollars they claimed in their press notes about this fucking digital transformation everyone is talking about. The numbers were big.
I got into 3 or 4 phone/skype interviews without technical questions and I was invited to see them by person.
I know that it would be funny because they didn’t asked me for CV so they didn’t know anything about me and I was just more curious how far I can get without revealing myself.
They canceled interview at midnight and I was in the middle of Louis de Funès comedies marathon so I didn’t sleep whole night. I assumed they would just reschedule but then they phoned me at 8 am if I can come because they made mistake.
So at first talk I was just interviewed by some manager I knowed after 5 minutes he would be shitty as fuck and demand stupid things in no time because he is not technical. He was trying to explain me that they got so great people and they do everything so fast.
From my experience speed and programming are not the things that match. ( for reference of my thought see three virtues of a GREAT programmer )
So I just pissed them off by asking what they would do with me when I finish this transformation thingy next year. ( Probably get rid off and fire at some point were my thoughts )
Then I got this technical interview on newest gold color MacBook pro - pair programming ( they were showing off how much money they have all the time ).
The person asked me to transform json and get some data in javascript .
Really that was the thing and I was so bored and tired that I just asked in what ES standard I can code.
The problem was despite he told me I can do anything and they are using newest standards ( yeah right ) the “for of” loop didn’t worked and he even didn’t know that syntax existed. So I explained him it’s the newest syntax pointing mozilla page and that he need to adjust his configuration. Because we didn’t have time for that I just did it using var an function by writing bunch of code.
When he was asking me if I want to write some tests probably because my code looked ugly as fuck ( I didn’t sleep for more then 24 hours at that point and wanted to live the building as fast as I can) I told I finished and there is no time for tests because it’s so simple and dumb task. The code worked.
After showing me how awesome their office is ( yeah please I work from home so I don’t care ) I got into the talk with VP of engineering and he was the only person who asked me where is my CV because he didn’t know what to talk about. I just laughed at him and told him that I got here just by talking how awesome I am so we can talk about whatever he wants.
After quick talk about 4 different problems where I introduced 4 different languages and bunch of libraries just because I can and I worked with those he was mine.
He told me about this awesome stack they’re building with kubernetes and micro services and the shitty future where they want to put IOT into peoples ass to sell them insurance and suddenly I got awake and started to want that job but behind that all awesomeness there was just .NET bridge with stack of mainframes running COBOL that they want to get rid off and move company to the cloud.
They needed mostly people who would dump code to different technology stack and get rid of old stack ( and probably those old people ) and I was bored again because I work more in r&d field where you sometimes need to think about something that don’t exist and be creative.
I asked him why it would take so much time so he explained me how they would do the transformation by consolidating bunch of companies and how much money they would make by probably firing people that don’t know about it to this day.
I didn’t met any person working permanently there but only consultants from corporations and people hired in some 3rd party company created by this mother company.
They didn’t responded with any decision after me wasting so much time and they asked me for interview for another position year after.
I just explained HR person how they treat people and I don’t want to work there for any money.
If You reached this point it is the end and if it was entertaining thank YOU I did my best.
Have a nice day.5 -
I recently interviewed for a job at company where I had 20 minutes to code a solution in python (whose standard library I know nothing about) to a question, which also included googling certain finance-related APIs, with not one but two technical interviewers looking over my shoulder THE ENTIRE TIME.9

Call me old-fashioned, but... I kinda liked it back in the day, when Microsoft made proprietary software, the Community made free software and everyone's "cui bono" was quite easy to answer - even those corporations involved in FLOSS did have a clear way to finance themselves.
Now, we have Microsoft coming into open source, seemingly making projects better and offering more and more "free" stuff.
You know.
"Free" Windows 10.
"Free" SaaS Office.
"Free" "Private" Repos on Github.
In general - what happened to clear and concise "I give you money, you give me stuff" capitalism like we had it in the 2000s?
I'd rather pay 20 bucks for a game on Steam than get it "free" and with ads or microtransactions - yet, many games, especially mobile, don't even offer me that option. It wouldn't be that hard now, would it?
The same goes for software. That Canonical would need to fuck their users over after Ubuntu One went to shit was obvious - they didn't offer the kind of commercial/enterprise OS'es that Redhat or SuSE sell.
What people seem to forget is that everyone needs to make a profit somehow. You don't get "free" stuff. Even the volunteers in the Open Source Community get something out of it - an opportunity to pad their CV at least, if nothing else.
Nowadays, software manufacturers have the same legitimacy as the "free" financial "advisors" you find at banks - and who could be dumb enough to trust them? Oh yeah: Almost the entire fucking society is who.
But then again, sell something and noone will want it - because they all want it for free, with annoying, privacy-invading ads or with equally annoying microtransactions, or financing based on commission - so you don't only pay ONCE, you pay until you realize you got fucked over and quit.
Capitalism used to work until all those idiots stepped in. How the fuck don't people realize that there's no free lunch in life? When have we stopped being functional people and turned into idiots.
Even worse: Those idiots think that they're entitled to something! They, who volunteered to become merchandise instead of customers, think that they have rights! Do cattle have rights? Nope. They get their "free" hay everyday and I get to buy beef, that's how it works. Moo!
Hell, they are surprised when they get fucked over by bank salespeople or their data stolen by corporations, intelligence agencies or something... What did they expect, goodwill?
Can we please make Adam Smith mandatory reading in school?! I mean, give people a chance to understand capitalism? The nonexistent "goodwill" of traders in general?8 -
Most of things I'm about to say are experienced by almost 99% of developers in Africa including my country so I'm going to make it a more general rant.
As an African developer, life is both exciting and frustrating at the same time. Some of the challenges that make life difficult for developers in Africa include:
1). Slow Internet Speed: The internet in Africa can be extremely slow and unreliable, making it frustrating to work on projects that require large file downloads. This is a serious challenge for freelance developers who work from home.
2). Unstable Electricity: Frequent power outages due to inadequate infrastructure, insufficient investment in energy production and distribution, and political instability makes it difficult for developers in Africa to work consistently. Most times I get frustrated because you can experience black out at anytime of the day which could last for hours to days automatically rendering you useless if you have no power backup generator at home.
3). Low Pay: While the opportunities for software developers in Africa are quite high, the salary is often disappointing. Many talented programmers end up seeking better opportunities overseas. In fact I quit my full-time job because of this reason.
4). Lack of Support for Tech Start-ups: There are few venture capital firms in Africa willing to invest in new ideas, which makes it difficult for tech start-ups to get off the ground. It's just sad, you can have an idea and just die with it.
So in summary, it's not a walk in the park to be a developer in Africa, but despite all of that I am glad to be a part of the African journey, having the opportunity to had work at a tech agency firm on various projects ranging from healthcare to finance, I find it rewarding to know that my work has contributed to a better future for my continent. 🤞6 -
Once a CEO is 24*7 a CEO. For me it's Chief Experiment Officer
And only dreamers can have that title. One who dreams at night and work it out the following day.
Having a startup is much more than just having an idea
It's about revenue,
It's about value,
It's about team,
It's about impact,
It's about growth,
It's about compliance,
It's about being finance, marketing, HR and tech expert at the same time.
It's about respect the supporters,
At the end it's about the money you earn as an individual.
For playing all the above roles, you need to dream real big.
To me startup is about falling in love with your work first.

I was having dinner with two girls, one a project manager and the other some finance reviewer or something like that. We were discussing our line of work and I was talking about how bad quality code affects everybody and the finance reviewer girl goes like (and I quote) "In our company we use polymorphism, inheritance and encapsulation so it's not a big problem. So our database has a parent class and we only use the parent class". I was at a loss for words. I mean, if only more programmers just did that, right?14

Company: “we need you to engineer this for one of our clients because you’re an engineer and this is what we pay you for.”
Me: “sure no problem”
Company: “we also need you to do a cost benefit analysis, risk/reward analysis, gap analysis and swot analysis for market fit and business finance because we didn’t task anyone else with doing it and since we’re already paying you for this other thing you may as well do this too”
Me: (opens up resume.docx) “yeah I’ll uh…I’ll get right on that”2 -
When client requesting something, it has to be done ASAP.
But when i ask about the payment...
I must sign some documents declaring the job was done
The documents then must be sent to manager
The manager must create another document to be sent to finance division
The finance sent that thing to director to sign the damn document so finance can make a payment
Oh shit the first document before i start the project went missing, i have no idea why they need that
Some weeks has been passed till today
Cant find the document
Recreate the document
I must sign it back but they said no worries, we can advance to next step so i can get paid today
Manager creates a document
Manager sent that document into finance
Oh shit the financial division is having some seminar, its friday so it will be processed on monday
WTF10 -
Go to business school to get a Finance degree... Since you already know how to code, why do you need study CS? Finance is hot now, make $$$$$$4

tl;dr; quit my job last monday. going to grow my side hustle into full time freelancing.
I am so exited.
---
Story time:
I am working full time as a jack of all trades and also have a side business where I coach people on an ERP for doors/fenestration and also write custom software in c#.
I was able to manage both over ~4 years, with customer amount slowly growing (only doing B2B).
Last month I opened an account at a freelancer website just for the lulz and damn after a short amount of time the orders exploded. I had to shut it down again because I cannot manage the amount of work. But did manage to win a fair amount of customers that will keep me busy for the next year or two.
Spoke to my employer and told them about the situation (they know about my side business and it's all mentioned in the contracts). Said that I would need half the amount of hours with my business to reach the same amount of money and that working as an employee makes no sense for me in terms of money. I would however like to work 1 to 2 days in a week for them because working there is fun, even when its financially uninteresting.
they took one week to prepare a position and then invited me to a meeting. "we offer you 32 hours a week. if you want more, you have to make a descision. As a self employed person you have risk and we as an employer do not want to carry that risk for you and we do not want to finance your self employment" (etc.)
Thought I am in the wrong movie. I took that into the weekend and thought a lot about what has been said.
And last monday I invited to a follow up and told them
"sorry, I think I was not clear enough. Working for you is of no interest in terms of money. You do not finance me, it's the other way around. Sadly we do not come to an agreement, as 8 hours less does not fit the need. You said I need to make a descision. I do not want to do this but I'm quitting".
They responded with "Oh that is sad to hear. Is there anything that we can make so you do not leave?"
"Either pay me the same I would make as a self employed or follow my conditions"
Did not get a response on that.
I now have three months to prepare myself for self employment.
Currently working 40h + growing side business + getting the whole german bureaucracy shit together.
Tough time but hell this feels so damn good.
Just wanted to share this :)5 -
Had a stupid sales dude. Lost his driver's license due to reckless driving (and this was a few in a row including drunk driving) for 6 months. As it was his job required to drive around he got instantly fired.
So he had to leave laptop, iPad and phone with us (IT). His next stop was finance for the lease car but he was pissed, left the building and drove off.
Apparently rules are super shitty for the theft of a lease by the registered employee. So we could not really mark it as stolen. We alerted the police anyway and he was caught next week for driving without a license. So he went to jail and we got the car back5 -
We worked with that freelancer some time ago. Most talented coder I've ever known. Coding for only 3 years, and only 1 technology, but technical thinking already up to par with my own 15+ years of experience. Very rude but to the point. We loved it - "one of us". We hired that asshole for different remote projects over 20 times in 3 years. We send spec, answer questions, collaborate on chat, review work on svn, add tickets, get solutions. After about a year working like that we had minor issue with finance that revealed our prized freelancer is a chick.
Changed nothing.4 -
Am I the only one who doesn't understand apple card? Like really, it's just the worst pitch ever!
"Apple card. Made by apple. Not a bank" that's a REAL ad I saw today. Why would you trust APPLE more than an FDIC insured bank with decades or (in some select cases) CENTURIES of experience in finance?
"No more card numbers and CVV"
Cool. I get it. Card numbers get leaked and stolen. But that's why banks insure cards and reverse fradulant transactions. How an I'm supposed to use it on Amazon?! I'm sure they have an answer. Like maybe one time use generated cards. But they haven't advertised it yet, and that's a problem!
Why do they think people want this!? And even more so, because I've seen some people are excited: WHY DO PEOPLE WANT THIS?! why is apple trying to make everything?!15 -
My boss is the head of IT.
I am the head of software, I have nothing todo with user rights in our software, this is head of IT things...
So my boss is gone, holiday.
User T calls in: Hey, I need rights for finance software X. Now.
Me: Yeah, my boss is gone for good, which rights exactly you need?
T: I don't know. Give me admin rights.
Me: I am not going to do that.
T: I will call my boss (head of her department, same level as my boss). He will tell you to do that.
Me: I will not listen to him, he don't decide about rights. IF you talk to the head of finance and he tells me you can have admin rights in the finance software, I could give it to you. Let him write a email to me about it.
T: Okay.
2 Minutes later.
Email, Head of finance: Hey Wasseratem, I don't decide for rights for the finance software X, normaly Head of IT does that.
(CC to T)
Email back: Yeah, he is gone, he will be back in 2 days, then he can decide.
Email from Head of Department of T: Give T admin rights. now.
Email back, CC Head of Department of T, Head of finance: No I will not do that (etc. explain why)
What the fck is T joking me?
Now She will not get any rights for thursday even when she will walk into my office with a gun.2 -
i HATE snake oil idiot types
red flags:
- "interested" in tech but have no programming experience or knowledge, no real work experience
- they claim they can provide assistance and guidance to people in machine learning!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
- private instagram, weird
- spent all their money on their instagram profile picture, looks like those dumb finance gurus with a lambo
- is, in reality, unemployed
what value do you provide to society?
really its just people who are good at talking and can convince other people of equal or lower (not higher) intelligence but not really can't DO anything
and they wonder why so many companies fail
what a fucking joke i hate you
its really not just annoying its immoral - and thats the part i despise so much
grow up, put in some work, and be valuable to society5 -
So I joined this financial institution back in Nov. Selling themselves as looking for a developer to code micro-services for a Spring based project and deploying on Cloud. I packed my stuff, drove and moved to the big city 3500 km away. New start in life I thought!
Turns out that micro-services code is an old outdated 20 year old JBoss code, that was ported over to Spring 10 years ago, then let to rot and fester into a giant undocumented Spaghetti code. Microservices? Forget about that. And whats worse? This code is responsible for processing thousands of transactions every month and is currently deployed in PROD. Now its your responsibility and now you have to get new features complied on the damn thing. Whats even worse? They made 4 replicas of that project with different functionalities and now you're responsible for all. Ma'am, this project needs serious refactoring, if not a total redesign/build. Nope! Not doing this! Now go work at it.
It took me 2-3 months just to wrap my mind around this thing and implement some form of working unit tests. I have to work on all that code base by myself and deliver all by myself! naturally, I was delayed in my delivery but I finally managed to deliver.
Time for relief I thought! I wont be looking at this for a while. So they assign me the next project: Automate environment sync between PROD and QA server that is manually done so far. Easy beans right? And surely enough, the automation process is simple and straightforward...except it isnt! Why? Because I am not allowed access to the user Ids and 3rd party software used in the sync process. Database and Data WareHouse data manipulation part is same story too. I ask for access and I get denied over and over again. I try to think of workarounds and I managed to do two using jenkins pipeline and local scripts. But those processes that need 3rd party software access? I cannot do anything! How am I supposed to automate job schedule import on autosys when I DONT HAVE ACCESS!! But noo! I must think of plan B! There is no plan B! Rather than thinking of workarounds, how about getting your access privileges right and get it right the first time!!
They pay relatively well but damn, you will lose your sanity as a programmer.
God, oh god, please bless me with a better job soon so I can escape this programming hell hole.
I will never work in finance again. I don't recommend it, unless you're on the tail end of your career and you want something stable & don't give a damn about proper software engineering principles anymore.3 -
It was not until 20 that I had access to regular computing. In school I had to take up Finance as my Maths was weak. I couldn't take Sciences including computers and how could I , my childhood wasn't as fortunate as my peers.
When I entered college I got my brothers old gaming pc as we had a couple of work laptops at home. I was always the inquisitive one. I got interested in web development just because of curiosity while I was on my first job and I hated it. I used to write article and freelanced and ran a website for friends where I learned a lot by trial and error. I single handedly learned mySQL, PHP and basic web development.
The main job was a core night from 11pm -8 am . Drained me and my social life drowned. I lost my brother in an accident. Silver Lining: I quit my job.
I understood I was interested in computers like nothing else. I single handedly learned a programming language. After leaving the job I took up classes to learn from root level in a structured manner: Web design and Development.
Now though I am jobless and I am searching for my second job it is for something I love. :)2 -
I have recently attended an IT conference for finance sector.
In invitation organizers stated that dress code is casual.
Me : Jeans, funny t-shirt, trainers
Everyone : Full suit, dress shoes or 'casual' version : suit and white sneakers.10 -
Added some features to an internal app used by finance. Tester found some bugs, but most of them were due to old code. Tried fixing them, found some more serious bugs that could have a large economic impact. Rewrote the service, squashed all the bugs we found and reduced code by roughly 50%. Felt good.1

So here's my problem. I've been employed at my current company for the last 12 months (next week is my 1 year anniversary) and I've never been as miserable in a development job as this.
I feel so upset and depressed about working in this company that getting out of bed and into the car to come here is soul draining. I used to spend hours in the evenings studying ways to improve my code, and was insanely passionate about the product, but all of this has been exterminated due to the following reasons.
Here's my problems with this place:
1 - Come May 2019 I'm relocating to Edinburgh, Scotland and my current workplace would not allow remote working despite working here for the past year in an office on my own with little interaction with anyone else in the company.
2 - There is zero professionalism in terms of work here, with there being no testing, no planning, no market research of ideas for revenue generation – nothing. This makes life incredibly stressful. This has led to countless situations where product A was expected, but product B was delivered (which then failed to generate revenue) as well as a huge amount of development time being wasted.
3 - I can’t work in a business that lives paycheck to paycheck. I’ve never been somewhere where the salary payment had to be delayed due to someone not paying us on time. My last paycheck was 4 days late.
4 - The management style is far too aggressive and emotion driven for me to be able to express my opinions without some sort of backlash.
5 - My opinions are usually completely smashed down and ignored, and no apology is offered when it turns out that they’re 100% correct in the coming months.
6 - I am due a substantial pay rise due to the increase of my skills, increase of experience, and the time of being in the company, and I think if the business cannot afford to pay £8 per month for email signatures, then I know it cannot afford to give me a pay rise.
7 - Despite having continuously delivered successful web development projects/tasks which have increased revenue, I never receive any form of thanks or recognition. It makes me feel like I am not cared about in this business in the slightest.
8 - The business fails to see potential and growth of its employees, and instead criticises based on past behaviour. 'Josh' (fake name) is a fine example of this. He was always slated by 'Tom' and 'Jerry' as being worthless, and lazy. I trained him in 2 weeks to perform some basic web development tasks using HTML, CSS, Git and SCSS, and he immediately saw his value outside of this company and left achieving a 5k pay rise during. He now works in an environment where he is constantly challenged and has reviews with his line manager monthly to praise him on his excellent work and diverse set of skills. This is not rocket science. This is how you keep employees motivated and happy.
9 - People in the business with the least or zero technical understanding or experience seem to be endlessly defining technical deadlines. This will always result in things going wrong. Before our mobile app development agency agreed on the user stories, they spent DAYS going through the specification with their developers to ensure they’re not going to over promise and under deliver.
10 - The fact that the concept of ‘stealing data’ from someone else’s website by scraping it daily for the information is not something this company is afraid to do, only further bolsters the fact that I do not want to work in such an unethical, pathetic organisation.
11 - I've been told that the MD of the company heard me on the phone to an agency (as a developer, I get calls almost every week), and that if I do it again, that the MD apparently said he would dock my pay for the time that I’m on the phone. Are you serious?! In what world is it okay for the MD of a company to threaten to punish their employees for thinking about leaving?! Why not make an attempt at nurturing them and trying to find out why they’re upset, and try to retain the talent.
Now... I REALLY want to leave immediately. Hand my notice in and fly off. I'll have 4 weeks notice to find a new role, and I'll be on garden leave effective immediately, but it's scary knowing that I may not find a role.
My situation is difficult as I can't start a new role unless it's remote or a local short term contract because my moving situation in May, and as a Junior to Mid Level developer, this isn't the easiest thing to do on the planet.
I've got a few interviews lined up (one of which was a final interview which I completed on Friday) but its still scary knowing that I may not find a new role within 4 weeks.
Advice? Thoughts? Criticisms?
Love you DevRant <33 -
Rant r = new Rant(Rant.TEAM_PROBLEM);
Three months ago, a senior, one year older than me, decided to join me in doing startups. He said he's good at finance stuff (his parents are fund managers), and he is interested in startups just like I am. He treated me very nicely, so I gladly accepted him.
I'm currently working on many projects, and some of them won me quite a few awards, most notably on the national competition. I also got invited into startup incubator programs, met some awesome people and offered free scholarships at universities in my country.
He frankly said he joined because he wanted to learn about startups and have those "privileges" too, and I'm cool with that.
Anyway, the problem is that I'm the one doing all the work. He's really nice, doesn't claim anything whatsoever, but the thing is he doesn't have any skills whatsoever except soft skills like communicating. So, I'm horribly tired from working alone.
My tasks mostly involves full-stack development, such as planning the specs, designing and developing frontend for mobile apps and progressive webapps, developing microservices for the backend, up to deploying and maintaining the servers. It's a lot of work for a single person to handle in such a short timeframe.
Not only that, but I'm also the one handling the business/marketing part, albeit I'm still learning. From doing paperworks, pitches, business models, up to creating advertising materials for the product.
I'm obviously not the smart ones like the people out there, but I keep focusing on improving my skills.
So, he said he could help me, and I let him try. What did you think he did?
He made pitch decks using default fucking PowerPoint themes, shooted a demo video with his phone cam in 320p potato resolution and expect me to "add some effects", gives me loads of requirements when all we needed was a simple feature, copying and pasting prior documents in my paperworks which doesn't make any fucking sense at all, and quite a lot more.
Also, he said I should stay in the developer zone only while he maintains the business, whilist he obviously can't do much in the business part either. Seriously...?
I'm okay with his lack of experience, considering he's nice and all, unlike the other business guys I've met in the previous rants. However, I keep questioning myself why he is here in the first place when I'm the one doing everything anyway.
What should I do? Maybe just keep him and recruit more experienced people to join us, as he's not that much of a burden? What do you devRanters think?
Thanks for reading, fellow devRanters! 😀8 -

Today is a happy day.
I just got a job to finance my last year of studies as a frontend dev for two months this summer.
I'll be working as an intern and won't get paid much, but it's still tremendously more than I would've ever made with any other shitty student job.
Best thing is that my best friend works at the same company and we'll be seated next to each other (he also convinced the HR to invite me to the interview, woul've been rejected right away without him).
So basically I am a lucky bastard and they even told me that if I'm doing well they wouldn't hesitate to hire me after my studies if I'd still be interested in a year ❤️
What I'm missing most as a student is to work in front of a computer 8 hours a day. This will be a welcome change and a nice addition to my CV.
Wish me luck! Starting right after my final exams on the 16th 😎

There's nothing that screams "junior" more than a graduate dev dressed up in a suit awkwardly posing for a LinkedIn photo.
Seriously, stop it, and stop listening to whoever tells you to don a suit so you're taken seriously. Maybe in marketing, HR or finance - but that's not how devs think, or hire people.8 -
Fucking windows automatic reboots! They seriously need to fuck off with that. As of this morning I have a finance person who can't log on, a floor manager that can't schedule his employees and a robotics controller pc that rebooted and didn't save the changes I made! Seriously, FUCK OFF!12

Who remembers winamp? Well... We still use it in our bar once a year
Backstory: I help to organize a small openair festival once a year and to finance that we run (amongst other things) a bar once a year.
Music is still supplied by good old winamp! The nostalgia is strong.

Official declaration: I am a fucking moron.
Last year, I acted stupid (as suual) and didn't invest enough money into some tax saving instruments.
I also picked the wrong taxation method and ended up paying more than double taxes.
Thankfully my country has an option where you can claim a refund by filing a return form.
And so I go ahead and I hire a finance guy who can help me do my taxes.
We sit at the table and do the math. It turns out my savings mindset prevented me from not investing enough and now it is difficult to claim the tax as refund.
I legit had no issues in investing more. Rather I was looking for ways to do so but I didn't. If I had done it, I'd would be paying zero taxes as my earnings would fall below a certain threshold.
Only trick is to evade by unethical means. Should I be the Jeff Bezos of my country and save my hard earned money from going to corrupt politicians?
Either way, I am a moron. Fucking hate my stupid decision.17 -
By:Miss. Lucia Wright
Punchline : VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE MY DEAR
Dearest Friend,
My greetings to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I am sister Lucia Wright I am married to Archdeacon. Collins Wright whom until his death served as an archdeacon in the St. Micheal's archdeacon in Ivory Coast for nine years before he died in the year 2005. We were married for eleven years without a child. My Husband died after a brief illness that lasted for only four days.
Before his death we were both born again Christian. After the death of my Husband I decided not to re-marry or get a child outside my matrimonial home which the Bible is against. When my late husband was alive he deposited the sum of $22. Million in a security and finance company in London for safe keeping.
Presently, my Doctor confirmed to me that I have serious sickness which is cancer problem. The one that disturbs me most is my stroke sickness. Haven known my condition I decided to donate this fund to a church or individual that will utilize this money the way I am going to instruct herein. I want a church that will use this fund for orphanages, helping the widows, propagating the word of God and to endeavor that the house of God is maintained. The Bible made us to understand that? Blessed is the hand that giveth'. I took this decision because I don't have any child that will inherit this money and my husband relatives are not Christians and I don't want my husband's efforts to be used by unbelievers. I don't want a situation where this money will be used in an ungodly way,
this is why I am taking this decision.
I am not afraid of death hence I know where I am going. I know that I am going to be in the bosom of the Lord. Exodus 14 VS 14 says That? the lord will fight my case and I shall hold my peace'. I don't need any telephone communication in this regard because of my health hence the presence of my husband's relatives around me always. I don't want them to know about this development. With God all things are possible.
As soon as I receive your reply I will give you the contact of the security and finance were the amount sum is deposited for you to contact them, I want you and the church to always pray for me because the lord is my shepherd. My happiness is that I lived a life of a worthy Christian. Whoever that Wants to serve the Lord must serve him in spirit and Truth. Please always be prayerful all through your life.
Any delay in your reply will give me room in sourcing another church or individual for this same purpose. Please assure me that you will act accordingly as I Stated herein. Hoping to receive your reply. Due to present condition of my health,I was warned by my doctor to avoid receiving or making any call. For that,I have submitted the information of the deposit to my lawyer, As soon as I hear from you I will forward to you the lawyer's contact.
Remain blessed in the Lord,
Miss. Lucia Wright.
Well ok... If you want me to, I can surely help you out 😈😈😈😈😈

I hate leaving work when in the middle of something, I tend to obsess over it all night lamenting that I didn't finish.
Today I was in a similar position but I needed input from our Finance directorate before I could finish. So I sent them an email which would mean that I'd done everything possible and could go home knowing there was nothing more I could do tonight as surely no one would be working this late.
However five minutes later they replied giving me the exact details I needed.
So yet again, I'm going home frustrated.
Why can't they be that useful the rest of the day?!3 -
WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK. What is this dude talking about?! What am I doing with my life?!?!
Test what? What do I have to do? I didn't study this. I don't know what this API thing is. My life sucks. My job sucks. I suck. I'm stupid, because apparently knowing who or what this API is is essential for being a normal part of society.
I don't even.. oh someone pls kill me.
(No I don't want a detailed explanation what I have to do - I know this is not google and i wont understand it anyways and my husband will torture me with it in the afternoon. Just some sympathy for a finance person who has to deal with this would be nice)

Just learnt perfectly what the below joke means:
'I wanted to improve the world, but they wouldn't give me the source code'
I really don't understand why the world is full of obsolete processes that people fight against daily when changing things ever so slightly could take the weight of the world off their shoulders. The same thing goes for my work, I work in finance, and we use a remote app built in Windows forms (not xaml or wpf, the original forms) and it's insecure, slow, buggy, and crashes whenever you press ESC (yes, really). Even worse, I've offered to rewrite their whole network for nothing, just the improvement to people's lives. And they say no! WELL FUCK YOU FOR BEING A PLAGUE ON THE FUCKING WORLD! Why do people insist on staying behind the times when the world could be such a beautiful place?!?3 -
I got my last job more or less by luck.
The freelancer platform I was active on, had once an offer for 100.- if you find a parttime webdev for some small business.
I was looking for this kind of job anyways to finance my parttime study so I wrote back.
15 minutes later, their boss called me and wanted to meet me for an interview.
3 days later, at the interview, we talked roughly 10 minutes about my experience and then it was all about the upcoming project and at the end, about when I want to start and what I want as my salary.
Needless to say I got the job and the best: Also the 100.- 😎 -
i've got my first job after getting out of college. not a great package. I'm learning more, will get experience. i have plans for freelancing and seek a better job. I'm an Indian.
what really upsets me is that I just discovered that I've no knowledge in finance. I'm feeling insecure, afraid and depressed. I'm browsing for some youtube channels, books and podcasts to get some some knowledge about finance and real estate.
all I have is a saving account in SBI bank, I just know how to take money out of it with my debit card and transfer money with online banking
how do u guys do ur finance, where do u invest. do u invest in stock market. insurance?? help me out. i'm fucked.
never thought i can be so stupid, I hate myself, never even thought I'll need financial intelligence.
are there more people like me.
i'm just so down and feeling suicidal.8 -
Yahoo finance shut down all their historic data uRL and im out of options. No API or packeges works. I have a report to pass up on tuesday for my ViVa and this is shit. Fuck. My months of work just wasted.7

Arghhhh.
So I'm working alongside a very big development house that specialises in vehicle finance. They are huge - 60 plus developers, only work in pairs, have a minimum fee of £2500 per day and work with all the largest car manufacturers.
However, today they decided to completely change their api sub domain and all api routes that handle finance quotes. No warning at.
Of course sites I'm working on that consume this consume the said api are broken too.
To make things worse, my client pYs this company circa £19000 per year to use their api. I also recently discovered that the client is paying for their so called managed service. Insanity.
I mean seriously. This company has 4 layers of project manager and 3 forms of a senior developer. According to companies house their turnover is in excess of £4 million per year.
However, they get the basics wrong and do not warn in advance of major changes to their core api service.
Off I go to deal with 10 of project manAgers and support people in the hope if speaking to someone who can actually help.4 -
Visual Basic.
“Does VBA for Excel count? Because if it does then VBA for Excel has reached the ”nuclear resistant cockroach” level in finance.
You wouldn't believe what sort of processes in very big banks/financial institutions are built using 10-year-old VBA macros. In fact, VBA consulting for finance is a very juicy cottage industry at least in Europe to this very day.”

Why people? I was planning on having a few days off....1 -
I have been a professional Dev for about a year for a cyber security startup. Unfortunately, startup died do to finance mismanagement. My lead Dev said that he wanted to start a co-op contract business and since we all work great together than we should stick around. So we tried to obtain contracts and it is going much slower than imagine. I am going on my second month of no work or contract work. I'm working on my own site to do some freelance work on the side for myself offering ever, marketing and ERP software services. That is the goal for side hustle. However, for the main hustle well I'm stressed now of being home and we'll meetings not turning into money. I actually want to call it quits and do my own thing and look for normal gig. It just feels rough as he has been my mentor and offered me my first software gig. I don't feel like I own anyone anything I'm regards money or time. However, I do feel bad of I take off it will hurt them from being able to handle larger contract if they do get one.
Note: I'm pulling from my savings

Hello folks,
first rant (yeeah :D) with a big question of myself (made an account for this ^^):
How does DevRant finance itself?
is it through the merchandise?
Dont see any adds so I am astonished :)10 -
One problem for CS education is that the salaries for academia are so low compared to industry that if someone is even vaguely competent, they can at least double their income by working a 'real' job. Now this may be different at higher levels of colleges but generally those folks are such bullshitters they wouldn't last outside of academia.
As what to improve?
Depends if it's a research or vocational course.
For vocational; heavy on group projects, common tools, methodologies and architectures. All demonstrated in something like c#/java/python. And one project must have a web app (db, app layer and JavaScript from end)
Basic knowledge of algorithms, runtime analysis (O notation) and some data structures and you're an instahire.
For research, go wild. Deep dive into the math, algorithmic side. Read up lots of research papers. Try out different programming paradigms. You would aim for a career in academia, AI, quant finance etc...2 -
So in my current workplace we have an IT department of... 7-8 people, with 3 developers (or 2.5, but that's debatable)
The oldest dev is old school, over 65 now came from Visual Basic, of course, and is a father of department's director - this is a story in of itself, but besides the point of this rant
Anywho, this dev is of course in this workplace way longer than me, and historically is in charge of finance and Microsoft CRM systems.
Guess the reason why Microsoft CRM was chosen at all in the company?
Because dev said he is not good with creating web forms from scratch, and apparently with MSCRM you can craft them without much trouble.
Yes, that's it, our MSCRM is used as a web application with custom forms that store data into custom DB tables that dev creates... nothing to do with actual CRM use cases.3 -
manager: i heard that bitcoins' price just dropped. can you teach me how to trade bitcoins?
*apparently he saw me taking the blockchain trainings provided by the company. told him i only know they work but not trading. i feel like he's so disappointedrant bitcoin blockchain there was no training for trading concepts not trading i suck in finance stuff1 -
When I was younger I had a decision to go into hardware or software. I chose software and have loved it.
Recentily I just spent 5 hours trying install a Linux distro on an old server. I made no progress.
I made the right decision. Hardware freaking sucks! You spend hours working on outdated pieces of crap and find that to fix your problem you need to sell you kidney to finance your project. Not to mention you have to wait for literally everything! It's like gradel builds everywhere! Want to install a new distro on your USB? Bam, 5min gone. Want to boot into bios and change one setting? BAM! more time wasted...
A note to the sysadmins out there: thank you. I love you. I am so happy you do this kind of work so I don't have to.3 -
I don't have many regrets in life but one would be that I didn't learn something harder at uni. I should have picked something like CS or cryptography or something like that. Even flat out math or physics would have been super useful.
On the other hand, the finance stuff I now see as common sense doesn't seem so common after all so there's that, and it helped me too.
I learned economics with specialization in finance btw2 -
!Dev related but still freelance.
So.. I do 3D stuff, scenes, animation and so on. The e-sport pub manager I know told me about this guy that wanted to start a local organizations around FIFA, hold tournaments at the pub and so on. He had some finance, contacts and needed a 3D scene of a stadium to highlight top placers as 3D Fifa cards.
Gotcha, so I hooked him up with said stuff, he was happy, manager was happy, first tournament went well. Now to the shit show:
He wrote to me a couple of days later asking if I'm up for more jobs, which k respectfully declined because l was on a bigger project that took about 2months to complete. Since that day, he spammed both me and the pub manager with request and wishes on wanting to do more.. and I mean SPAM!
Like the dude can't take a no, sorry. He tried to call on phone and messenger, messeged me several times / week and asked the manager of he heard from me.
Both the manager and I were perplexed of his attitude and after asking several times to stop and we both had other things for now (events / projects).. he.. he didn't stop. So.. blocked and that's that, right? Fuck now.. other clients of mine asked me if I knew of him because he tried to contact them to get to me.. like WTF?! How hard is it to take a no and move on?! Jesus.. client of hell in a nutshell1 -
Today I finally proved that a pre-existing component was overwriting the output of my component. It only took 3 months to find out the proof of it.

Just came across a few rants blaming coursework, which doesn't have anything to do with programming. To them I wanna say two things:
1. Programming is modelled on everything other than programming. So it helps to know a bit about that 'everything'.
2. The famous author James Altucher has had 14 careers in 25 years. Not 14 jobs. 14 careers, including photography, authorship, entrepreneurship, finance planning, and more.
So stop bitching and eat your frog/broccoli.7 -
Been unemployed for about 4 months and counting cause I lost my job, now waking up in the middle of the Night with anxiety and many thoughts, with so much feeling of Fear that I feel unsafe, I could hardly continue sleeping.
I wake checking emails for an Interview shot or some positive feedback.
I am currently out of Finance, don't know how my coming months will be. Also, I'd having an interview in the next coming months that would need me to present my financial status at the immigration office because I am immigrant.
I do not know what to do.4 -
For the love of the God and compiler. Why do tech companies keep putting finance people in charge of operations?
Everything gets reduced to a value in a spreadsheet and ifsum<pretendprofits it’s a problem.
Company just closed $40m in funding and here I am quibbling about fixed costs with some MBA holding jackass to get $200 so I can equip my team with a licenses for a better IDE.
I’m this close to saying fuck it, buy independent licenses and then expense it back to the company. It’ll cost more than bundling but that’s why I’m not in finance.2 -
People just can’t show up on time. I respect people’s time and I do not waste a minute of anyone s time. I do not like it. Time is a precious resource and we should all treat it as such. I expect the same from other people too.
There was a meeting supposed to happen a month or so back. Me and another guy. This meeting was basically giving him the resource utilization and some cost related details for the budget our team used up. They wanted a more granular report than the generic ones we submitted.
He scheduled it once and about ten minutes before he cancelled it. Fair enough.
A week later he sent an invite and the next day he cancelled it a few hours before the meeting. Fair enough I’m still not pissed.
A month or so since the first scheduled meeting, he scheduled a meeting and I turn up and he s not there and I wait for about half hour before I leave. Next day I get an email saying he s sorry. Now I’m pissed.
A couple weeks back he schedules a meeting and I turn up and I could see through the glass door and he s talking to someone in the room he s in. He signals to me to wait for five minutes. It takes about 20. Finally I go in and he s relieved so he can finally get the data from me. I tell him I waited for twenty minutes and I have to somewhere and asked him to reschedule the meeting. He asks when and I tell him a time where I know he won’t turn up. About 8 30 in the morning. He says yes.
Next day I show up he s not there and I wait for ten minutes and just he s walking in to the floor I exit the room and run to my place. He comes over and asks and I tell him I waited for sometime and I’m busy now and he mumbles and goes away.
By this time it is already a week or so after the deadline. The bigger boss from finance turns up and asks me why I haven’t given them the data I asked for. I tell him they schedule meetings and don’t turn up on time and my other work is getting affected productivity blah blah and he says okay make the report and give it to me. I tell him no I’m not wasting anymore time on this.
He goes to my boss creates a little ruckus my boss comes over and he goes wtf. I tell him what happened. He says it’s okay give them the report. I’m like I don’t know where I kept it must be somewhere I can’t waste anymore time on this. Guy from finance joins us at this point and angrily says he’ll find it himself and don’t need our help anymore.
The file is in my laptop I use for travel. Just a local copy. Zero fucking backups. And I just deleted it.
Fuck. You.1 -
Interviewing with three companies. First one extended an offer. I'm expecting an offer from at least one, possibly both, of the others (On-site with Second was yesterday and expecting an offer tomorrow or Mon, phone tech interview (they also had a tech screen) with Three was today and I /rocked/ it, expecting an onsite invite for next week).
The problem with being a badass is that the choice paralysis is SO OVERWHELMING. All three have features that I like and how do I choose.
I think I'm being overly influenced by the weekly massage, onsite barista, free nice breakfast/lunch, and ideal location of Second (the domain is finance, they have $$$). Oh and fucking 25 vacation days and amazing 401k matching. I mean how would I say no to an offer? But what if the work is actually beyond me? But they have seriously cranked their benefits package up to 11.
First is an in house product with external clients. The domain I don't find super interesting, but it has amazing Glassdoor reviews, seems like a decent environment, and really seems like a place to progress and grow as a professional. It is also the lowest salary of the three (both others are through Hired, so I know what they are offering).
Third is a consultancy where I'd really get to keep my skills relevant. Seems mad fast paced, which is a bit intimidating, and I don't know how well I'd handle the context switching of being on multiple projects at a time.
I mean, all of this is counting my chickens before they hatch. But I have a really good feeling about my chsnces with Second, though I suppose I still have a chance to botch my onsite with Third.
Ahhhh. Dev Rant, how did you go about choosing between offers that can't be evaluated on a single axis?1 -

Let's say that I might want to change job. I'm into finance, but I'd like to approach the game developing side (yeah I know, don't even start, it is how it is!)
Question is: I've got a bunch of projects to showcase my ability to code in different languages. Would setting a public git repo be helpful? Currently all of my repos a private, and not really thought for being read by others, but I can always polishing things up. Would that be an asset or doesn't it worth the while?
I mean, in my experience nobody ever asked me access to my git repo!3 -
My little brother started college this year. He hasn't decided what he wants to do, so he took classes in finance and computer science. During finals week, he comes to me ranting about GitHub. "It has to be the most useless tool ever made", he said.
His teachers made him use it without any explanation on HOW to use it. His whole team was working out of a single branch, downloading the zip every time, and struggling to fix merge conflicts. At no point was this ever corrected. This has been going on for an entire year!!!
Safe to say, I spent the afternoon walking him through more productive ways to use GitHub and showing him why it's not "the most useless tool ever made". I don't get why teachers for students to use tools but fail to ever explain how. All that is going to do is deter kids from using tools that could save them when they get a real job.5 -

>But the more I talk about algorithms and time complexity, the more her eyes glaze over

During the course of my career I've stumbled on like 6-7 people I've worked with and it was really great. Every now and then we meet up and chat how it'd be great to form a team again and work on something (we're all in different companies atm).
Lately we've been mentioning that even more and are considering whether to start working on a product/find clients and form an agency/join some other company.
We have experience with both outsource and products. Our profiles range from development, design, marketing, UX, HR, PM.
Any road we take has pros and cons. We're least fit to start on a product because we'd need more profiles, have to figure out finance and would probably have to work alongside our current jobs.
I've been thinking of writing a joint letter when I hear a company is opening up an office in our city. When that happens, usually whole teams are formed and most of the profiles I mentioned are needed.
Do you think that's even possible? Is there another way we're overseeing? Have you heard of or attempted something similar?
Any advice is truly appreciated.2 -
Aarrrgghhhhh!!! I am so fucking pissed off right now. It seems like I am paying for my sins in this life.
1. My cousins/relatives outcasted me after a little fault of mine. I used to think highly of them and respected them all my life and this how they acted on me.
Because of this, the entire family is boycotting my parents and they are pissed at me for getting them disowned.
2. My health is a mess. A toxic infection along with SAD creeping in due to less sun exposure. No matter how much I take care of myself, some shit shows up after periodically.
3. My wealth scene is as confusing as it can get. Not only I am unable to make up my mind on the finance strategy and execute it, but also frantically making silly decisions which is causing stress, confusion, and expenses.
4. That Narcissist bitch who abused me and destroyed my will to live is still stalking me after months and causing harassment. Only if the gender roles were reversed, the guy doing so would be in jail but fuck our legal system that biased towards women. This shit is causing me psychological distress.
5. Been away from work for few days due to sickness. I texted my talkative colleague whether she'd like to sync up and help me get upto the speed with updates. I listed 4 bullet points as agenda from my side. They were crisp short serving as pointers to remember. I even asked her to add her points if any.
Now she comes back saying that the way I send communication is it seems like she reports to me.
I have been praised time and again by countless people on my communication structure and soft skills. Never once I received such feedback in years.
I do accept it gracefully. However, I am unsure whether it is even a relevant feedback, since it's coming from someone who is literally struggling with communication with everyone (that she herself mentioned in the same thread).
Funnily she did say that when our manager departs, they'd make her report to me and I was like nah! that cannot happen.
She kept saying various great things about the company when I was new and slowly as I settled in and discovered the reality, her truth changed.
WTF!
Fucking annoying. I am all in for feedback of any kind but how should I figure which should be considered valid and which as invalid?
Life is nothing but a quicksand, you just keep sinking in irrespective of whether you try to get out or stay still. There is no external help or resources available.
So much mess to deal with.3 -

I waa pretty sure fortune cookies were getting weirder... but seriously, it's gotten THIS bad? Not a fortune, nor a proverb, just a one-liner on political finance?
Just seems extra messed up that you can now be prompted to discuss national debt via fortune cookie from chinese take-out. We do owe the most to china afterall. Yet fortune cookies are invented by us(and typically one of the few things produced stateside). Just seems extra off...

I like being an employee in product development team (rather than a consultant in a project) - we're exempt from reporting hours per project and making sure to stay within budget.
But on the downside it's frustrating to se how the org happily spends development time without considering we cost money. Just found out that one department ordered a campaign site that took 4 days for 2 devs to build.
It's now ended and revenue was only a few hundred bucks.
When I asked "Didn't we lose money on this project? Considering our salaries and the ~60hour dev time"
- "Oh no, we don't count the dev team as a cost! You already work here and would get paid no matter what" 😑
Good thing I'm not in finance.4 -
This is why we can never have enough software developers
It's true. No matter how many people learn to program, there will never be enough people who know how to program. They don't have to be very good at it either. It is now a required skill.
Minimum wage in first world countries is way above 5$ per hour. A Raspberry PI 3B costs 40$, or at most 1 day of work for the worst paid jobs. And it will run for years, and do routine tasks up to thousands of times faster than any employee. With that, the only excuse that people still do routine tasks, is the inaccessibility of coder time.
Solution: everybody should know how to write code, even at the simplest level.
Blue-collar jobs: they will be obsolete. Many of them already are. The rest are waiting for their turn.
Marketing people - marketing is online. They need to know how to set up proper tracking in JS, how to get atomic data in some form of SQL, how to script some automated adjustments via APIs for ad budgets, etc. Right now they're asking for developers to do that. If they learn to do that, they'll be an independent, valued asset. Employers WILL ask for this as a bonus.
Project Managers - to manage developers, they need to know what they do. They need to know code, they have to know their way around repositories.
QA staff - scripted tests are the best, most efficient tests.
Finance - dropping Excel in favor of R with Markdown, Jupyter Notebooks or whatever, is much more efficient. Customizing / integrating their ERP with external systems is also something they could do if they knew how to code.
Operations / Category Management - most of it would go obsolete with more companies adopting APIs as a way to exchange important information, rather than phone calls and e-mails.
Who would not be replaced or who wouldn't benefit from programming? Innovative artists.
A lot of it might not be now now, but the current generation will see it already in their career.
If we educate people today, without advanced computer skills and some coding, then we are educating future deadbeats.
With all this, all education should include CS. And not just as a mandatory field or something. Make it more accessible, more interesting, more superficial if needed. Go straight to use cases, show its effectiveness in the easiest way possible. Inquisitive minds will fill in the blanks, and everyone else will at least know how to automate a part of their work. -
I use mail.com and the amount of websites and companies that ask me if I'm sure I don't mean Gmail is so annoying. One finance company even changed it to Gmail without asking me! Time to change email addresses?2

What's your thoughts on stored procedures(of DBs)?
What are the pros and the cost you found or perceived?
When they are opportune?
Overusing them more than a programming language is an abuse?
I was introduced to a software started initially by economy\finance people which knew a little bit programming, nonetheless their doing became messy though time and at a certain point hired a team of 4 people(from my company) to deal with it, but the approach of the two programmers to build most of the framework on calling stored procedures or queries makes me want to puke, there are almost no layers of separation of concern in place x_x3 -
Being able to have a small team sit down all day for several weeks or months before having an alpha version to present to the public or to investors. How can you finance making your proof of concepts?3

Is it a good idea to go to a coding bootcamp and shell out thousands of dollars? How about a college? I know some devs think it’s best to self learn and pay no one. I’m currently trying to make a big decision and looking for pointers.3

I've been reading about quantum computing in finance and other applications (fascinating read, althought really dense), but one question now won't stop bugging me.
Context:
1) Blockchain applications are based on NP-Hard asymmetric cryptographic problems, and how hard it is to solve such problems in a really short time.
2) So called "Web3.0" is based mostly on Blockchain applications, but would still need significant advances in order to be practical.
3) Affordable and practical cloud-based quantum computing is not so far in the future, and could be used to crack most NP-Hard problems in short (polynomial) time.
Thus, my question: Is Web3.0 obsolete before it even begun?
I mean, if quantum computing takes on fast enough, it could snuff out Blockchain applications by giving those a shelf life so short it wouldn't be worth to delevolp for it. It would be like announcing the iPhone 14 and the 15 on the same breath, saying the 15 is only a quarter away - why would anyone bother with the born-obsolete tech?4 -
I could use some advice from some tenured developers... (or anyone with some thoughts)
Long story short, I went to school for business (Trust me... business people bug me too now), but in the last six months of college I didn’t like what I was doing (finance/marketing) so I dove into data analytics.
After graduating I was lucky enough to get a job at a great company doing a little data architecture work, writing lots of SQL stored procedures, managing client databases, cubes, etc... I really enjoy my work, but I recently discovered... Python...
After being introduced to Python from people at work as well as my Roomate, I’ve been trying to dig in as much as possible. I try to read/code at least an hour before work everyday and some when I get home. I love it.
So here’s where I need advice...
What do I need to do/learn to get a job writing Python all day? (Or a majority of my day)
What particular skills may I be missing that I should learn?
What do I need to do to make this happen?! (I love SQL, but damn python is amazing)1 -
Anyone else feel in hindsight, college was a huge waste of money so basically just 4yrs of partying/independence from parents?
Watched Accepted on Prime yesterday which in hindsight send to be the truth...
https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0384793/
I majored in finance and information systems... Well the finance stuff I remember (for stock trading) I could've learned reading some books.
IS... I didn't even need to try since I started coding when I was a kid. SQL, know it already... Matlab/weka, just another language/tool.21 -
Little project for an insurance sales guy / finance coach / entrepreneur
My first thought: guy sounds extremely shady but ok let’s come up with a hefty price.
Guy accepts my offer and pays one third in advance as I asked. Of course he pays cash because he „didn’t make it to the bank“ but happened to have the big bucks in his wallet.
I give him a receipt for the cash payment.
Job is done I write an invoice for the remaining two thirds.
Guy transfers money to my account. No cash this time.
However he took the sum in the second invoice and subtracted the first one and 50 bucks extra and send the remaining entirely imaginary sum.
I text him. He does not get it and explains that he payed cash in advance.
I say yes but that is not the point. You can not make up the sums of your invoice yourself.
I send him three warnings via mail.
He sends an angry letter back sayingthst he payed one third in advance.
I tell him how nice it is that we agree in that regard but that the issue will go t court if he does not pay.
Sometimes I am fascinated how elaborately stupid people can behave. :/5 -
Have you ever watched Idiocracy? Please do. Especially the smart ones in this platform. I'm afraid it might just be the most accurate forecast of the future of humankind. I've been mentioning this movie for years.
Politics, genZ, etc. - the trend is already there.
I don't have a TV. Mostly bcz I have better things to do with my time than watch ads and tv shows.
In youtube there are people who do reviews of various things. A few days ago my wife came across one that reviews episodes of a tv show that, apparently, is shown on one of the most popular Lithuanian TV channels. It's called Undress. The idea is that 2 people, a man and a woman, meet in a studio in front of a camera, do some small talk and then undress each other. Then they go to a bed in the studio and do various tasks: provokative questions, touching, kissing, etc., occasional slips of nudity
Usually girls are strippers, porn actresses, whores, etc. Guys are salesmen, bus drivers, finance workers, etc.
It's awkward and sad to watch it. But whats even more sad is that it's broadcasted on a TV and people find it entertaining to watch. Even morevsad is that there are people who willingly sign up as participants, knowing the whole nation will be watching and they seem to enjoy it.
W.T.F... Idiocracy13 -
Coding has pretty much been the center of my life?
Although I was persuaded to take a dumb expensive, useless detour into Finance... and probably cost me a nice job at a big tech company... at least until maybe I get around to really really trying really hard to possibly get an interview after reading through a few Algo books and prepping for technical interviews and doing foobar enough to request being recruited...
Anyway I still like coding for my own use a lot (check my github.io page), getting paid for it is more of a ++ though I would prefer to be solving more interesting and useful problems at work....
Oh yes and it makes me an Android/tech power user, always thinking about how to use tech to solve my problems, get what I want...
and now if you'd please, dfox when can I have my unicorn? 😀

If only the Finance team in my office knew about the proportion of the salary that I get, that goes towards me browsing 9gag every month.
Glad they don't.1 -
Went from a c++ backend developer job to a very high paid, very little programming and mostly integration job in the finance industry (big wall st firm). I regret my decision. Money does not make you happy at the end of the day nor does it bring satisfaction. Don't make the same mistake I did. If you're happy as a developer, stick to it, you'll be a lot happier in the long run.

Did you know that 94% of the start-up businesses struggle on the very verge, during their first year of operation? Why, because they didn’t know how to finance a start-up business. Know how to finance a startup business and what are the means of getting small business loans for your startup.

While being an intern I had to make a finance system, no requirements except for the fact that it has to invoice the right person...
As soon as it was seemingly done, I'd go to the customer and he'd just say "why isn't x in there? This isn't what I meant! Where is y feature? Why does it work like this and not like that?" etc...
I had 0 experience, and was just told to make stuff as I went, horrible experience and truly the most frustrating project I've ever done. -

Pharmacy... Preorder-mail got stuck in spam due to weird receiver passphrases so they didn't actually order it (it was "banana" followed by an steadily incrementing number). You wouldn't believe their faces after they saw my mail.
It took the pharmacy exactly ONE HOUR to get that medicine after I went up getting them to know that they missed an order. They express ordered it after I guess I signaled the urgency...
That's one of the pretty great things in Germany. If you need medicine and if you're in a medium populated area, you could get it within hours, or at least in 1/2 day if they not express the order and you order over their website.
But this is attacked due to European trade deals. Online pharmacy shops (the ones without local pharmacies) simply trade in from cheaper areas in Europe and can sell much cheaper. Also because they aren't committed to cross finance local hospital medicine delivery which then let's the health insurance raise their prices.
But due to the law for the minimum wage and therefore steadily decreasing wages the online-only pharmacies get more and more of the market cap....
Such problems aren't easy to fix...3 -
Has anyone experience with technical chart analyses? The only method I found useful so far is the moving average.

Heyyy DevRant Fam! :D, hope everyone is doing very well today! i would love to get some input/advice from my fellow developer friends here today... so Milo has gotten himself into a sticky situation... So recently i had a little opportunity to get some mentor-ship or internship through a family friend, and im sooo excited but nervous at the same time.. i sometimes think to myself am i really 'good enough for such a position'?? but however since I've never really experienced this sort of work, whats their to lose? or is this a bad way too think about it? :D
so ladies and gents, I'm really interested in the stock market and that sort of finance, and i think id be a good fit to build tools for traders, if i cannot get into that sort of position, why not work back office and have more of a support role? I'm always very happy to work my way up as I'm highly motivated!, however in the case that i manage to get into such a position, I'd love to know, what sort of things do i need know to be able to land such a position? if you can give me any tips or advice id be extremely grateful! :D
If you have managed to get this far into my post, I'd love to say thank you so much! and i really apologize for rambling on... i generally always do that.... and also i want to say thank you so much for taking the time to read my question <3 really means a lot to me!
just quick note letting everyone know as a hobby project I'm building a little list app where i can save my favorite stock tickers/symbols into a list and see the price changes over time (through alphavantage's API) :D
Kind regards,

Any one here in the Netherlands that considers to start freelancing? I'm asking this because I'm a freelancer myself and joined a cooperation. This allows me to focus 100% on what I love doing. The cooperation does everything else for me: legal, sales, finance, trainings, events etc. etc.
In fact, the only thing that is left for me to do is my income taxes once a year but even that can be arranged!
We are always looking for highly skilled people to join us. Many areas: development, agile, testing, fintech etc.
If you want to start freelancing but have any doubts in taking that step feel free to contact me. I can help you out!! -
According to the report of Reuter on Geneva-based Libra Association : Facebook's Libra project has failed in its current form and needs reworking to be approved, said the president of Switzerland where the cryptocurrency is seeking regulatory consent. "I don't think (Libra has a chance in its current form), because central banks will not accept the basket of currencies underpinning it," Ueli Maurer, who is Switzerland's finance minister and outgoing president, told Swiss broadcaster SRF.
"The project, in this form, has thus failed," he added in an interview.

Hey DevRant fam :-) hope everyone is doing very well wherever you may be!, i'm currently on my uni break for roughly 3 or so weeks which is fabulous, now i do not have much experience with finance or crypto-currencies!, but i'd like to do something a bit different.
This is something i'd hope to put onto my portfolio, so my idea is something on the lines of a stock market simulator BUT with Crypto currencies, i've been asking people around uni but no help unfortunately!.
So its very similar to a stock market simulator app if you look at things like "Investopedia Stock market simulator" its very much the same concept. The user has x amount of USD or AUD (as an example) and they can buy BTC or Ripple and it either goes up in price or down :-).
So guys that's something id like to create :D i definitely know its difficult and i'm not so sure on how to start :-). If its possible to get some advice on how to start i'd greatly appreciate it!.
Hope you have a wonderful day/night where-ever you are!
(I apologize for rambling on)
Best
Milo :-) -

Any of you started thinking about second income? I started learning business on my free time, like forex, government bonds and investment.
What you are ways for second income? Lately, I started thinking about being financially independent5 -
So Friday just gone it was month end (anyone who works in or around finance will know what this means) my boos was on holiday, the other developer was on holiday.
Everything went fucking wrong, and it turns out that there were loads of things that I’d not been taught/shown over the last 8 months, so spent most of Friday being about as much use as a cock flavoured lolly pop.
It’s so fucking demoralising, to be sat there, as the go to person and be able to help with fucking anything. And because it’s all Agresso I can’t google solutions, and what little documentation we do have is fucking useless.
I tapped up a recruiter who has been very good in the past, and I’m looking for new roles. -
Bsc Computer science (I've seen the maths in that course,it's a bit crazy but the programming modules is what I love)
or
BCom information systems (less complex maths, not much programming and a lot of finance and business based modules)but I can take a post graduate straight up programming and software dev course after that
Or
BTEch IT applications development(very practical experience on programming languages) plus in my second year I get industry experience.
Confused
Which one??1 -

I'll fucking kill you bitch who the fuck made you the system administrator of this fucking college? The fuckery you do... god damn some students know more than you and you should agree to this fact. You fucking dare not call yourself a sysadmin when you can't even read the fucking docs provided by the G Suite. At least you didn't make the mail server yourself otherwise god knows what the shit you'd have spread around.

Recently joined new Android app (product) based project & got source code of existing prod app version.
Product source code must be easy to understand so that it could be supported for long term. In contrast to that, existing source structure is much difficult to understand.
Package structure is flat only 3 packages ui, service, utils. No module based grouped classes.
No memory release is done. So on each screen launch new memory leaks keep going on & on.
Too much duplication of code. Some lazy developer in the past had not even made wrappers to avoid direct usage of core classes like Shared Preference etc. So at each place same 4-5 lines were written.
Too much if-else ladders (4-5 blocks) & unnecessary repetitions of outer if condition in inner if condition. It looks like the owner of this nested if block implementation has trust issues, like that person thought computer 'forgets' about outer if when inside inner if.
Too much misuse of broadcast receiver to track activities' state in the era of activity, apપ life cycle related Android library.
Sometimes I think why people waste soooo... much efforts in the wrong direction & why can't just use library?!!
These things are found without even deep diving into the code, I don't know how much horrific things may come out of the closet.
This same app is being used by many companies in many different fields like banking, finance, insurance, govt. agencies etc.
Sometimes I surprise how this source passed review & reached the production. -
I was assigned as an on-boarding buddy for a new hire in finance. I wish I had know they were hiring finance as I would have recommended a friend who had to relocate to Nashville to get her job back with Amazon.
They're hiring finance and sales people, but my company has yet to replace any of the developers who have left since the layoff last year. It's a startup, so I understand them needing to generate revenue more than anything else, but it really doesn't look good for the company.2 -

The Turnaround: How Cybernetsurveillance Saved My Lost Crypto Investment
A few months ago, I fell victim to a cryptocurrency scam that nearly wiped out my savings. It started with a seemingly legitimate investment platform offering early access to a new decentralized finance (DeFi) project. The platform was polished, with professional branding and detailed project information. I even had a brief conversation with one of their “representatives,” which gave me the final push to invest. I transferred a significant amount of cryptocurrency, confident that I was getting in on the ground floor of a promising opportunity. But within weeks, the platform shut down, the representatives disappeared, and my funds were gone. It was a devastating blow, and I felt completely at a loss. In my desperate search for solutions, I came across Cybernetsurveillance and reached out to them with a glimmer of hope. Their team responded swiftly and took immediate action. They walked me through their process, explaining how they would analyze the blockchain to trace the stolen funds, even if the scammers had used complex techniques to hide their tracks. I was impressed by their thoroughness and reassured by their experience in dealing with these types of cases. For the first time since the scam, I felt like there was a real possibility of getting my money back. Over the following weeks, Cybernetsurveillance worked tirelessly to track down the scammers’ wallets and unravel the network of transactions linked to my stolen crypto. Their persistence paid off—they were able to identify key accounts involved in the scam and worked with relevant exchanges to freeze them. To my amazement, they recovered a portion of my lost funds. It was a relief I hadn’t thought possible. The team not only returned a significant amount of my investment but also provided advice on how to better protect myself in the future. Thanks to Cybernetsurveillance, I regained my footing and learned valuable lessons about navigating the cryptocurrency world. Their expertise, dedication, and transparency throughout the process were nothing short of exceptional. I can’t recommend them highly enough to anyone who has been caught in a crypto scam. Cybernetsurveillance truly turned my situation around.

It was harmless at that moment, just letting a colleague use my laptop to do a small presentation. I had been very busy, running from one meeting to another, and in that rush, I had totally forgotten that I was logged into my $400,000 Bitcoin wallet. This being said, my well-meaning colleague further asked whether he could organize my files while at it. I didn't think twice.
A few minutes later, I went back to my table and found that my laptop had been reset, which means I could not access my wallet anymore. My friend at work must have gone ahead and performed a password reset, so now I was locked out of the wallet. Immediately, I went into a state of panic. I was trying hard to remember my password or find some workaround; whatever I tried just wasn't working. That's when the realization sank in: I had no idea how to regain access to the $400,000 I had worked so hard to accumulate.
I knew I required professional help, so I turned to CRANIX ETHICAL SOLUTIONS HAVEN. The team was emphatic; they immediately took up my case. They did not judge me for the mix-up or my mistake but rather got to work with knowledge and expertise in handling that mess. Within days, they not only recovered my wallet but also guided me in securing it in the future.
I sat and waited with bated breath for their call, reflecting on how such a simple act of kindness-lending my laptop to a peer-could blow up so easily into such a huge disaster. Not her fault, of course, but a good lesson to me to be much more circumspect with my devices and other assets from here on out.
The feeling that overcame me when CRANIX ETHICAL SOLUTIONS HAVEN actually called to update me that my funds were recovered was indescribable. I was so grateful for their professionalism and expertise, and I swore to never again let my work devices become a "shared resource." These days, my laptop is strictly mine, and none of my personal accounts are left logged in for anyone else to accidentally reset.
Thanks to CRANIX ETHICAL SOLUTIONS HAVEN, I got back what I had thought was really lost, and now I exercise a lot of caution in making work and private finance mix.

SEEKING EXPERT ASSISTANCE FOR CRYPTOCURRENCY RECOVERY HIRE ADWARE RECOVERY SPECIALIST
Losing $101,505 overnight was a gut-wrenching experience. One moment, my financial future seemed secure—the next, it had vanished. The investment platform I had trusted abruptly locked my account, citing vague “suspicious activity,” then fell completely silent. What followed was a nightmare of automated emails, chatbot loops, and unanswered phone calls. Customer service offered only scripted apologies, with no timeline or real support. I felt powerless, overwhelmed, and full of regret. How had I let this happen?
As painful as the experience was, it taught me invaluable lessons about financial vigilance. Website info: h t t p s:// adware recovery specialist. com
First, due diligence is non-negotiable. I had been swayed by sleek marketing and unrealistic promises of “guaranteed returns,” without properly investigating the platform’s credibility. Had I looked deeper, I would’ve uncovered troubling red flags—unverified claims, a murky operational history, and filtered reviews that masked real user experiences.
Second, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Promises of high, consistent returns with “zero risk” should’ve triggered immediate skepticism. But in my urgency and greed, I ignored my instincts.
And third, responsive support is essential. When things went south, the absence of real human help made everything worse. Reputable financial platforms prioritize accountability and transparency—qualities this company clearly lacked. Email info: Adware recovery specialist @ auctioneer. net
My turning point came when I connected with ADWARE RECOVERY SPECIALIST, a firm that focuses on recovering cryptocurrency and digital assets. Though skeptical at first, I was desperate—and determined. I documented everything: transactions, emails, and conversations. Their team launched a thorough forensic audit, reached out to legal entities, and persistently followed up with payment processors. Incredibly, they recovered 92% of my funds—a remarkable win given the odds.
This ordeal has permanently reshaped how I approach finances. Today, I verify every platform through regulatory bodies, explore independent reviews, and test customer service responsiveness before investing. Risk management isn’t fear—it’s wisdom. Telegram info: h t t p s:// t. me / adware recovery specialist1

Several weeks ago, my life was irrevocably altered by a crypto romance scam a cruel amalgamation of emotional manipulation and financial exploitation. A person I believed to be my partner, whom I had met on a niche trading forum, gradually ensnared me into investing in a purportedly “groundbreaking” decentralized finance (DeFi) project. Over several months, they meticulously cultivated trust, shared fabricated returns, and even orchestrated video calls with supposed “developers” to lend credence to the scheme. By the time I discerned the truth, a staggering $215,000 of my life savings had evaporated into a labyrinth of blockchain addresses, and the individual I thought I knew had vanished without a trace. The betrayal was paralyzing; I felt not only financially devastated but emotionally shattered.As a small business owner, I am no stranger to risk, but this was a domain far beyond my comprehension. I promptly filed reports with the FTC, collaborated with cybersecurity experts, and spent countless sleepless nights poring over Etherscan, desperately attempting to trace the transactions. However, the scammers’ adept use of privacy coins and offshore exchanges rendered the trail elusive, dissipating like smoke. Each dead end deepened my despair and sense of helplessness.In the midst of this turmoil, I confided in a family friend about my harrowing ordeal. After hearing my story, he referred me to GRAYWARE TECH SERVICES . Initially skeptical but driven by desperation, I visited their website and was struck by their no-nonsense commitment to transparency. Unlike other firms that promised miraculous recoveries, GRAYWARE TECH SERVICES provided a clear,breakdown of their process: forensics, collaboration with international legal networks, and direct engagement with exchanges to freeze illicit funds.From the moment I reached out to GRAYWARE TECH SERVICES , their team approached my case faster . Losing $101,505 overnight felt like a gut wrenching blow. One moment, my financial future appeared stable; the next, it vanished into the ether. The platform I had trusted with my investments suddenly locked my account, citing vague “suspicious activity and then went silent. For days, I found myself trapped in a maze of automated emails, robotic chatbots, and unanswered phone calls. The so called customer service team offered nothing but scripted apologies, with no clear timeline for resolution. The weight of helplessness was overwhelming. How had I allowed this to happen? While this was harrowing, it transformed into a crucial lesson in financial vigilance. First and foremost, thorough research is essential. I had been seduced by polished marketing and enticing promises of guaranteed returns, neglecting to verify the platform’s legitimacy or investigate its leadership. A more in-depth examination would have unveiled warning signs: unregistered claims, a questionable operational history, and user reviews obscured by glowing testimonials. Secondly, if something appears too good to be true, it likely is. The platform’s pitch of consistent high returns with zero risk should have raised immediate red flags. My greed and urgency clouded my judgment, a mistake I am determined not to repeat.Most importantly, having access to responsive support is a necessity, not a luxury. When disaster struck, the lack of human assistance exacerbated the situation. Reputable institutions prioritize transparency and accountability qualities that were glaringly absent in this case.My path to recovery began with a referral to PYRAMID HACK SOLUTION, a firm specializing in Cryptocurrency asset recovery. Initially skeptical but desperate, I meticulously documented every transaction and communication, providing their team with the evidence. Their methodical approach included forensic audits, legal outreach, and persistent follow-ups with the platform’s payment processors. Remarkably, within weeks, they managed to recover 92% of my funds, a significant triumph given the circumstances.This ordeal has fundamentally altered my approach to financial decisions. I now cross-check companies against regulatory databases, explore independent review forums, and assess customer service responsiveness before investing a single dollar. Risk management is not paranoia; it’s a wise strategy.To anyone navigating the unpredictable realm of online finance: take a moment to pause, conduct thorough research, and prioritize actions over promises. And if disaster strikes, seek out specialists like PYRAMID HACK SOLUTION their recovery can make all the difference. CONTACT INFORMATIONS;

LOST BITCOIN AND BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY HIRE DUNAMIS CYBER SOLUTION
633869Hi, I’m Robert. My journey into the world of Bitcoin began in 2024, thanks to a crypto-savvy classmate who casually mentioned his investments during a study session. Until then, I only had a passing interest in cryptocurrencies. But that conversation piqued my curiosity, and I began researching more about Bitcoin and blockchain technology. What started as casual reading quickly turned into a growing fascination. Eventually, I decided to take the plunge and invested a modest amount, something I considered more of an experiment than a serious financial move.To my surprise, that small gamble paid off. Within months, my investment skyrocketed, reaching an incredible $100,000. Watching that number rise was thrilling; it felt like I had stumbled into the future of finance. I was euphoric, imagining all the possibilities this sudden windfall could bring. For a while, I truly felt like I had unlocked a door to financial freedom. That feeling didn’t last long. In early 2025, everything took a dramatic turn. After a wild college party, I woke up to discover my phone was missing, lost somewhere in the chaos of the night. Losing a phone is bad enough, but my real panic set in when I remembered that my Bitcoin wallet’s two-factor authentication was tied to that device. I didn’t have backup codes. Just like that, I was locked out of my fortune. The helplessness I felt was overwhelming. I couldn’t believe I might have just lost $100,000 overnight.I confided in a friend, who mentioned a company called DUNAMIS CYBER SOLUTION .I was hesitant to believe it; these things usually sound too good to be true, but I had nothing to lose. I contacted them, hoping for even a sliver of hope. To my surprise, their team was not only responsive but incredibly knowledgeable. They assured me that recovery was possible, even without access to my phone or codes. In less than a week, they delivered. I regained full access to my Bitcoin wallet. That moment was indescribable relief, gratitude, and disbelief all at once. Thanks to DUNAMIS CYBER SOLUTION I got a second chance. Now, I take my digital security much more seriously and will always be grateful for the help when I needed it most.2 -

RECOVER FUNDS FROM CRYPTO SCAM//CRANIX ETHICAL SOLUTIONS HAVEN
The bitter irony of decentralized finance struck hard: the very features that made cryptocurrency appealing anonymity, irreversible transactions now made my loss feel permanent. The moment I realized my digital wallet had been compromised, a cold wave of dread washed over me. $25,000 in bitcoin, gone. I scoured forums, filled out police reports, and resigned myself to the grim statistics of crypto theft. Then I discovered CRANIX ETHICAL SOLUTIONS HAVEN, and everything changed. Unlike the shadowy "recovery experts" populating dark web forums, CRANIX ETHICAL SOLUTIONS HAVEN projected immediate professionalism. Their website detailed a rigorous forensic process, utilizing advanced blockchain analysis tools and cyber investigation techniques akin to those employed by law enforcement agencies. Still, I hesitated until learning they operated on a no recovery, no fee basis. The financial risk was entirely theirs, not mine. The recovery process unfolded with military precision. Within 72 hours of submitting my case details, their team had mapped the thief's digital footprint across multiple wallets. They explained each step in clear terms: how they identified exchange deposit points, collaborated with compliance teams at trading platforms, and strategically froze funds. By week three, the impossible happened. A triumphant email notified me that my full $25,000 had been recovered. What truly astonished me wasn't just their technical skill, but their human approach. At every step, my case manager provided updates with the urgency of someone who understood this wasn't just about money, it was about restoring faith in the crypto ecosystem. Where other firms hide behind jargon, CRANIX ETHICAL SOLUTIONS HAVEN educated me, turning my victimhood into empowerment. Today, my bitcoin sits securely in a new wallet, protected by layers of safeguards they recommended. To anyone staring at a zero balance where their life savings once lived: this is not the end. CRANIX ETHICAL SOLUTIONS HAVEN doesn't just retrieve digital assets, they restore hope. Their existence proves that even in the Wild West of blockchain, justice still wears a white hat. If you find yourself in a similar situation, don’t lose hope. Take action, secure your assets, and consider reaching out to CRANIX ETHICAL SOLUTIONS HAVEN. You deserve a chance at redemption.

Brazilians are known for their precision and caution, yet even the most meticulous among us can fall victim to sophisticated scams. I had diligently accumulated R$ 240,000 worth of Bitcoin as part of my retirement plan, carefully nurturing my investment for years. However, everything changed when I received a phishing email that looked identical to my wallet provider's legitimate website. Without a moment's hesitation, I entered my login details, trusting that I was interacting with a secure source. Within minutes, I realized my grave mistake. My account was wiped clean, and I was left staring at the screen in disbelief. I felt utterly devastated, as if all my hard work and careful planning had vanished in an instant. The weight of my failure pressed heavily on my shoulders, and I was crushed by the thought of letting down not only myself but also my family, who had supported my investment journey. In my desperation, I reached out to a colleague who worked in the Finance field. She recommended DIGITAL TECH GUARD RECOVERY, sharing glowing reviews she had heard about their expertise in recovering stolen funds. At that moment, I felt like I had no other options left. Days turned into weeks, but I remained in contact with them, feeling supported throughout the entire process. Eventually, their efforts bore fruit. While I didn’t recover the full amount, I managed to regain a substantial portion of my investment. The experience taught me a valuable lesson about vigilance in the digital age and the importance of seeking help when facing daunting challenges. Though my trust was shaken, I found solace in the fact that support exists in the cryptocurrency community. -
Recovering Stolen Bitcoin: How To Retrieve Hacked Or Drained Bitcoin wallet → HACKATHON TECH SOLUTIONS
Loosing $275,000 was like watching my dreams go up in ashes. That kind of money was supposed to finance my second food truck—a milestone towards growing my small taco business. But instead, with a careless click, it was gone.
It started with what seemed like an ordinary SMS. It was Coinbase, telling me about suspicious action on my Bitcoin wallet. I was racing in my heart. I panicked. I clicked without thinking and supplied them with information. Within minutes, my wallet was drained—$275,000, every penny I'd earned in six years, stolen.
I was sick. Ashamed. Angry with myself. I thought I was safe on the net, but I got caught. I didn't even tell my family at first—I couldn't bear their disillusionment.
That day, doing tacos from my food truck, I was half-awake. I got a couple orders mixed up, I guess, because one of my regular customers—a nice, affable man I called "Professor Mike"—picked up that something was amiss. After I finally, explosively exclaimed what occurred, he didn't tease or reprimand me. He only nodded and responded, "Call HACKATHON TECH SOLUTIONS. Trust me."
It just so happened that Professor Mike was a cyber security expert. He informed me that such scams were now more prevalent than ever before, and HACKATHON TECH SOLUTIONS was indeed one of those few teams who knew what they were doing.
I phoned them that evening. From the first call, their customer service was calm, professional, and—most importantly—they did not make me feel stupid. They explained each step and comforted me that they would do whatever they could to get back my money.
They worked fast. Within a couple of days, they followed the scam to a burner phone scam ring. I have no idea what all of the technical work was that they did, but this I know—my Bitcoin was recovered. My wallet within 10 days, all my cents restored to where they ought to be.
I gazed upon that balance look, I cried. Over there in the truck, near the salsa booth.
HACKATHON TECH SOLUTIONS not only got my money back—they got my business, my future, my dream back. If you ever get scammed, don't lose hope. Call them. And if you ever come through my taco truck, tacos are on me. Reach out to HACKATHON TECH SOLUTIONS via below contact details

I had always been cautious about where I put my money, but the allure of high returns in the crypto world was something I couldn't ignore. That's how I found myself investing $93,000 into what I thought was a legitimate Bitcoin investment platform. The initial returns were impressive, and I was hooked, seeing my investment grow day by day on the platform's dashboard. But when I tried to withdraw my earnings, the site suddenly became unresponsive, emails went unanswered, and my funds seemed to vanish into thin air. Desperation set in as I realized I'd fallen victim to a scam. I spent sleepless nights researching recovery options, my trust in digital finance shattered. That's when I stumbled upon a forum where others shared similar stories, and one name kept coming up: Alpha Spy Nest. Skeptical but clinging to hope, I reached out.
From our first interaction, the team at Alpha Spy Nest displayed a level of professionalism and empathy I hadn't expected. They listened to my story, asking detailed questions about how I'd interacted with the scam site, transaction details, and any communication I'd had. Their approach was meticulous; they explained how they would trace the blockchain transactions, looking for patterns and anomalies that could lead back to where my crypto was held. The process wasn't quick, but the regular updates from Alpha Spy Nest kept me in the loop. They used advanced blockchain analytics to trace my $93,000 through various addresses, which had been cleverly disguised by the scammers. Weeks passed, and then one day, I received a call - they had managed to locate a significant portion of my funds.
Alpha Spy Nest had traced the transactions to a few exchanges where the scammers had attempted to cash out or move the funds. With their expertise in dealing with such platforms, they coordinated with legal teams and the exchanges themselves to initiate a recovery process. It wasn't all of it, but I was able to recover 85% of my initial investment, which was far more than I had dared to hope for.The relief was overwhelming, but what stood out was the education they provided. Alpha Spy Nest didn't just help recover my funds; they equipped me with knowledge on how to secure my digital assets better. They recommended stronger wallet security measures, the importance of due diligence in investments, and how to spot red flags with platforms too good to be true.In the end, what could have been a devastating financial blow turned into a lesson in resilience and cybersecurity. Thanks to Alpha Spy Nest. Contact below.

The digital illusion emerged in February through an intricately fabricated Facebook persona, a supposed cryptocurrency guru flaunting opulent estates and glowing testimonials from “investors” basking in fabricated riches. Enticed by the allure of portfolio diversification, I engaged the profile, unaware of the deception that lay ahead. This individual, a master manipulator, spent weeks cultivating trust. They bombarded me with sleek marketing materials for a “cloud-based mining operation,” complete with counterfeit revenue graphs and forged regulatory certificates. Their pitch, a seamless blend of industry jargon and fabricated urgency, eroded my skepticism. I finally transferred an initial $15,000. Soon, the platform’s dashboard reflected impressive returns and even allowed a $2,500 withdrawal a calculated move to lull me into complacency. Encouraged, I invested an additional $75,000 over the next three weeks. Disaster struck when I attempted a larger transfer . The platform began rejecting my requests, citing vague “liquidity fees” and unverifiable fiscal requirements. Then, the scammer disappeared, erasing all traces. A blockchain audit confirmed my worst fear: the entire interface had been a mirage. My investments had been siphoned off and scattered across untraceable accounts or so I thought. Searching for help, I combed through online communities searching for a path forward. I eventually discovered Digital Tech Guard Recovery, a group of hackers who recover cryptocurrency through cyber forensics and deep crypto analysis. Their reputation, reinforced by detailed investigative reports and positive case outcomes, gave me hope. From the moment I contacted them, Digital Tech Guard Recovery approached my case with precision and professionalism. They explained how sophisticated scams exploit non-custodial wallet vulnerabilities and fake API integrations to siphon funds into crypto tumblers, concealing the trail. Using advanced tracing protocols and proprietary forensic tools, Digital Tech Guard Recovery tracked the movement of my stolen Bitcoin through a web of anonymized wallets, eventually locating the funds at an offshore exchange notorious for weak compliance. With cryptographic evidence in hand and coordination with international legal teams, Digital Tech Guard Recovery secured an emergency freeze on the assets. Within 48 hours, my funds were returned to a secure cold wallet. This was a harsh education in the dark side of digital finance. Thanks to Digital Tech Guard Recovery, I reclaimed what was lost. Now, I navigate crypto with vigilance, knowing that caution is the only true safeguard in a world where deception often wears a digital face.1 -

As a father of three, the loss of $250,000 from our children’s college savings to a fraudulent mining platform nearly shattered me. The sleepless nights, the difficult conversations with my wife I was engulfed in remorse. When she learned that I had been duped, the devastation in her eyes was palpable. The weight of my failure felt unbearable, and soon after, she filed for divorce. I felt as though I had betrayed my family, and the burden of that failure was suffocating. Each time I looked at my children, I was reminded of the aspirations we held for their futures, aspirations that now seemed to be fading away. Idk if this is the right place to ask but I thought Of this and my parents are sick of trying to satisfy me and they said they don’t even know what I’m asking. I know this is an extremely dumb question. Hypothetically, if a plane full of billionaires carrying only cash crashes mysteriously and cannot be found, now that the money is lost, what happens in the economy. Like how do the banks know how much money is gone and what do they do about it. Like mass inflation? Why can’t they just print an approximate Amount of money to fill up the system again, and if so what happens when they find the plane in a hundred years and the money comes back cuz now we have too much? This all came from wondering how they put the new coins with the kings face in without making the economy blow up, like I would assume they take the same amount of money that are idk too old or something and replace it with the same amount of new money but in that case how do they know and what do they do with the old coins now that they’re out of circulation. If anyone can answer my questions pls help. I might reply to your answer with more questions sorry lmao.10

Fraudulent online platforms have become increasingly sophisticated, and I want to share my unsettling encounter to raise awareness. I was initially lured in by the promise of high returns and decided to invest 75,000 USDC, alongside an additional 9,000 USDT that appeared as profit in my account. However, I soon discovered that withdrawing even my initial deposit was impossible. Despite diligently completing all 18 tasks required by the platform, I could not access my funds. The customer service was virtually non-existent, leaving me feeling frustrated and abandoned. It became painfully clear that this platform was designed to create a facade of success, employing clever tactics to entice users into depositing even more money. I felt overwhelmed, anxious, and scared about my financial situation, realizing I had fallen victim to a well-orchestrated scam. In my desperation, I sought advice from a colleague who recommended Tech Cyber Force Recovery, a service that specializes in helping individuals recover funds lost to online scams. Following their guidance, I reported my case, and to my immense relief, I could recover every dollar I had deposited. It’s crucial to understand that the profits displayed on these platforms are nothing more than illusions, crafted to mislead users into believing they are making real gains. They are not actual funds, and the entire operation is a sophisticated scam. I urge anyone who finds themselves in a similar predicament to remain vigilant and cautious. If you encounter difficulties withdrawing your funds or if customer support is unresponsive, take action immediately. Reporting the issue to a recovery service like Tech Cyber Force Recovery can be a game-changer. They possess the knowledge and resources necessary to assist you in navigating the recovery process. My situation serves as a warning for anyone considering investments in online platforms that promise unrealistic returns. Always do your due diligence and be skeptical of offers that seem too good to be true. Safeguard your hard-earned money and stay informed about the potential risks associated with online investments. Remember, if you ever feel trapped or scammed, Tech Cyber Force Recovery is available to help you reclaim your lost funds.

Can you Recover Lost Crypto? Hire Cryptic Trace Technologies
When Kevin, my bestfriend, first ventured into the world of digital finance, he felt confident in his ability to navigate it. He researched, diversified his assets, and even experimented with new platforms that promised innovation. But one day, after making a large transfer, he realized something was wrong—his digital wallet showed the transaction as complete, yet the receiving end had gone silent. There were no error messages, just a frustrating absence of updates. That’s when he understood: the assets weren’t coming back easily. Refusing to accept the loss, Kevin began looking into asset tracing and digital recovery services. That’s how he came across Cryptic Trace Technologies, a cybersecurity group known for its ethical approach to recovering inaccessible digital assets. Their team walked Kevin through the tools they’d use—starting with blockchain explorers to map out the flow of assets, then using metadata analysis to detect where funds had been routed. They also tapped into legal-compliance methods to engage platforms that may have indirectly received the assets. Every step was professional and transparent, making Kevin feel like a valued client—not just a case. In just a few weeks, Cryptic Trace Technologies delivered what Kevin had almost stopped hoping for: access to a portion of his recovered portfolio. Beyond the financial relief, what stood out was their deep understanding of blockchain systems and the care they put into every communication. I’ve always been cautious with my finances, but the promise of high returns in the crypto world drew me in. I invested $390,000 into what I believed was a legitimate Bitcoin investment platform. Initially, everything seemed promising—the returns looked incredible, and the dashboard showed my portfolio growing daily. However, when I attempted to withdraw my earnings, the site became unresponsive. Emails went unanswered, and my funds appeared to vanish without a trace. I was devastated. My trust in digital finance was shattered, and countless sleepless nights followed as I researched recovery options. That’s when I discovered SANTOSHI HACKERS INTELLIGENCE (SHI) through an online forum. Many others shared similar stories of loss but spoke highly of SHI’s ability to recover their stolen assets. Though skeptical, I reached out to them, clinging to hope. From my very first interaction with the SHI team, I was struck by their professionalism and genuine empathy. They took the time to understand my situation, asking detailed questions about my transactions and communications with the scam site. Their approach was meticulous and transparent, explaining step-by-step how they would trace blockchain transactions to uncover the trail left by the scammers. The process wasn’t instantaneous, but SHI regular updates and clear communication gave me confidence. Using advanced blockchain analytics, they traced my $390,000 through multiple disguised addresses used by the scammers. Weeks of effort culminated in incredible news: SHI had located a significant portion of my funds. Through their expertise and collaboration with legal teams and cryptocurrency exchanges, SHI recovered 75% of my initial investment. This outcome was beyond what I had dared to hope for. More importantly, SHI didn’t just recover my funds—they provided invaluable education on securing digital assets. They taught me about wallet security, the importance of due diligence in investments, and recognizing red flags in too-good-to-be-true platforms. What could have been a devastating financial loss became a powerful lesson in resilience and cybersecurity, thanks to the exceptional team at SANTOSHI HACKERS INTELLIGENCE. I am immensely grateful for their support and expertise. For anyone seeking trusted cryptocurrency recovery services, I wholeheartedly recommend SHI.8

Life can unravel in an instant. For me, that moment came when deceitful cryptocurrency brokers vanished with £40,000 of my savings, a devastating blow that left me paralyzed by shame and despair. The aftermath was a fog of sleepless nights, self-doubt, and a crushing sense of betrayal. I questioned every choice, wondering how I’d fallen for such a scheme. Their professionalism was matched only by their compassion, a rare combination in the often impersonal world of finance.
What happened next defied logic. Within 72 hours of sharing my story, they traced the labyrinth of blockchain transactions, outmaneuvering the scammers with surgical precision. When their email arrived, “Funds recovered, secure and intact,” I wept. It wasn’t just the money; it was the validation that justice could prevail. Tech Cyber Force Recovery didn’t just restore my finances, they resurrected my dignity. But their impact ran deeper. They demystified the recovery process, educating me without judgment.
