Search - "redirects"
So I wrote a code in HTML and js that puts an alert on the screen that says "all of your info is mine now, goodbye" and then redirects you to the nyam cat site
I sent it to some of my friends to have a little laugh but they have sent it to other people and eventually the school principle called me and told me to go to her office and retrieve all the data I stole
I went there and explaind her the prank but she didn't believe me
So she called the programming teacher to check the file
She laughed as hard as I've ever seen anyone laughing and told me to go back to class
It was scary and funny but the thing I've learnt is that it's stupid to prank ignorant people.19
My client tells me there's a new bug with to-www-redirects. He yells they don't work properly anymore and tries to blame me. But fact is I know, they are well configured in the Nginx conf and therefore work like a charm.
I told him I fixed it and charged an hour. Motherfucker.
Why I love devRant? Cause it redirects me to my good old browser after clicking on a link instead of open such a f*****g build in shit!5
After about 2 WEEKS of funny redirecting, they updated their site and HTML-Code is now getting escaped.10
Duck.com is now owned by DuckDuckGo.
Google transferred the ownership and now it redirects to DDG...5
--- linux.org domain taken over, doxxed person who created CoC (but wait!) ---
At the time of writing, linux.org does not support HTTPS and has an empty page. Previously, that page showed quite a lot of information about the doxxed person
www.linux.org redirects to the previously doxxed person's Twitter account.
Currently, this seems like a DNS takeover.
We ask you not to spam them. Yes, they created the CoC, something lots of you hate. However, they only created it. They weren't responsible for quite a few open-source projects adopting it. Thus, doxxing then like this was a (objectively) terrible idea, as they aren't responsible for those that made Linux use the widely-hated CoC.
Thanks for reading this brief article, take care.34
tl;dr @Root refactors some spaghetti.
I'm refactoring an api that creates a support message. It's a post route.
When seeing a magic hardcoded message string, this route instead updates the user object, and does not create a support message.
It also returns different results if the user is muted (fine) or if saving the message succeeds or fails (fine).
But if the user is creating a duplicate message, it doesn't save the message (fine) and... redirects to listing their messages instead? Wat?
Also, when refactoring this (migrating to a new message backend), I discovered that not all routes return a response. If the message is a non-duplicate, from a non-muted player, from a non-redacted client, the route doesn't respond at all!
So, I'm having fun cleaning this up. I actually am. Except I'll need to support all of the legacy clients for the next lifetime or two. I mean, really. There are still people with Android v2 devices who are using this thing. not even kidding.6
The former dev tried to implement redirects. He created dozens of routes wich lead to a 'redirectXY' method within the 'mainController'. There he returned a redirect Instance.

My idiot friend nearly destroyed his install because of me.
He was complaining to me about some program he was running in terminal writing too much lines to terminal he didn't care about.
So I wrote to him verbatim:
"Just redirect the output to /dev/null by running it like ```cmd > /dev/null```.
Or better yet do ```cmd > /dev/sda``` it will be more fun ;)"
Three minutes later I get a screenshot from him where he's trying to run ```cmd > /dev/sda```, but it keeps saying Permission denied. He's tried to use sudo in the screenshot like million different ways.
Thank god he doesn't know how to use sudo with redirects...16
"We want a beautifully custom web application with complete front and back-end performance optimizations, and we'll as responsive and search engine optimizations which means 3,000 pages of custom redirects."
"And when do you need it by?"
"How much are you expecting to spend?"

After a year not coming back to my hometown, I've never felt the urge to immediately go back to my boarding house after this week at home as "the IT guy"
Uncle: hey, I cannot run corel on PC #1
Me: why what changed recently?
Uncle: I replaced the mobo, the last one was fried
Me: o~kay, *goggled, sent some files over from PC #2, PC #1 unable to connect to internet, Unc, does it comes with CD or anything? The LAN driver might has not been installed yet
Uncle: ah it might be in the box
Me: *receives box, facepalm, it's a cheap chinese mobo, Unc, haven't I told you back then to get at least Gigabyte or MSI B150?
Uncle: ah, this one's cheaper,
Me: *okay bye, finish job, back to my PS4
Pops: hey, can you install the download manager thingy, and also the torrent app?
Me: why, what happened with the last one?
Pops: I dunno you check it
Me: ah fuck it, let's see,
*stare~, the fuck's wrong with this monitor?
*click", fuck's wrong with this mouse?
*type, fucking keyboard!
*open new tab, the fuck's with the base url (some shady redirects)?
*random program popping up, the fuck's with this PC?
*went away getting a new mouse, hey pop, your mouse is busted, you should get a new one
Pops: naah, the mouse is fine, I never had any problem using it
Me: yea it's fine aside from the unresponsive movement, stuck srolling wheel, unusable middle click, non responsive right click and the auto double click feature
Pops: naah it's fine, there's no problem with the mouse
Me: yeah" whatever you say, *finish job, back to my PS4
Lucky my aunt has moved far away or I might get 2 of the father episodes back to back, and at least I got some games from the year end sale which is nice4
So, I recently switched to DuckDuckGo and my fucking college REDIRECTS THE FUCKING URL TO FUCKING GOOGLE.
The single most annoying thing about working with Microsoft is how they, at one point, decided to wipe 99% of their articles and downloads on their site. But instead of updating it in their OWN FUCKING OS, they just leave links to the broken pages in their help system. The second problem then arises when you realise that instead of giving you an error page, it automatically redirects you to the default page.
But on top of wiping their site, not updating windows to reflect those changes, and having a terrible site design, they have also decided that it would be best to keep the pages that once we're, online. This means that they will still show up in search engines, without any content being there.
Add to that the fact that their support team is incompetent to an insane degree, and often doesn't know what they're talking about. This has caused me so much frustration over the last few days.
Dear Microsoft, please get your act together and fix your shitty website.
A pissed of customer who paid money for your shitty services3
So one of my clients got their wordpress site hacked and basically just redirects to scam links and well.. I looked at in the server file manager and their are like three directories with this wordpress site (not clones but the same?) one in the root, a version in a folder called old and another in temp.. with 3 separate wp databases.. DNS entries had malware redirects, the wp-content folder was writable to the public and contained a temp folder with tons of encoded malware and ip links to malicious sites.. there was encoded malware in index.php, has like 20+ plugins, oh and the theme uses a dynamic web builder so the code is basically unreadable in source and scattered.. and the redirects seem to happen randomly or at least on a new session or something. Oh.. and did I mention there are no backups? 😃2
This was a long time ago, when I was working part time in my uni helpdesk. as part of the uni IT service, they offered ISP services at the dorms. It was cheap, and fast. This essentially allowed students living in the dorms to connect thier personal computers to the uni LAN. Then one day...
An ARP poison malware infected some of those computers. An arp poison attack is simple (look at ettercap) - it redirects network traffic via the affected computer, and adds malware to webtraffic to infect more computers. One of these on a network is bad enough, but when there more then one... traffic was redirected a lot. this caused the Dorm switches to collapse under the load. Fun times to work at the helpdesk...
The IT guys came up with a solution for this: they blocked the arp poision attacks at the firewall, and then disabled the switch port for the infected computer for 24 hours. so, when someone called with 'I have no internet!', we told them to bring us the computer, and installed an AV on it.
3-4 month the problem was cleared.1
I. hate. Twitter. So. Much.
Well I don't hate Twitter as whole, but their "Contact Us" page is just plain fucking awful.
So, in my country the required age to give consent on my own to collect data is 16. I was 15 at the time when the fucking shithole of a law that is GDPR rolled around, so Twitter locked my account due to me having 15 years. Fair enough.
Couple months passed and now I'm 16. So my account should be unlocked now right? Nope. Still locked. So ok, maybe they don't have a system that auto-unlocks accounts. So I click the "Get started" button. That brings me to a form where I should fill our my parents email. But there is also an option to click a link if you think your account was locked by a mistake. So I click that. Now it should bring me to another form where I tell Twitter why they should unlock my account. BUT THE COCKSUCKER THAT DESIGNED THE FUCKHOLE OF A NAVIGATION FORGOT TO GIVE ACCESS TO ACCOUNTS THAT ARE LOCKED BY GDPR. SO IT REDIRECTS ME BACK TO THE "PICK YOUR FORM" PAGE WHERE ALL THE FORMS BUT THE "GIVE US EMAIL OF YOUR PARENTS" ARE FUCKING LOCKED TO ME!
So now I'm stuck in the endless fuckhole that is the Twitter "Contact Us" page.
btw my first rant...7
Aaaah ! So fuckin done with this Server error !
I am checking if a cookie is set in Php and if it is, I am redirecting user to some page, basically its a 'remember me' logic. But this fucking error comes in everytime my page redirects.
I have a similar logic to check if user is currently logged in the current session, and if he opens a new window and types the url(index.php) he is automatically logged in (obviously, duh !) and redirected,bt it dosent crash at that time!
I did a site for a hotel many years ago. They recently had it redone as a Turdpress site, it was terrible, I have just checked today and it redirects to a facebook page. Wondering if this is a trend that I am not aware of. The facebook page, however doesn’t sell the hotel like the website does/can.1
The unsubscribe link on the emails from whois.com redirects you to a fucking PDF with written instructions on how to unsubscribe...
Are you fucking kidding me?
I have to go on your website, login, go through 4 fucking sections in the settings to finally select "NO" in a radio button???
It should be illegal.1
Can someone help me settle an argument with a coworker?
So let's say there is a REST interface that returns a PDF representation of an resource...but it requires the authorization header in order to authorize that you have access to the document in question.
And let's say there is a link on the page that redirects to this endpoint to serve up the document. He thinks you can add a header to the HTTP request that goes out when you click on the link (a regular old anchor tag) with onclick without making an xhr call.
I told him that you would have to use an xhr call to add headers, and that even then you would receive a byte stream back, which without using a blob and an object url or a data uri you wouldn't be able to display it in a new tab or start a download.
Regardless he went on to tell me I was wrong. The next day he said he had done it. I asked him to show me, and he said "oh it's at home", and then proceeded to ridicule me in front of my architect. He always pulls this one up's man ship bullshit and I hate it. And I am pretty sure he's wrong.10
A Timehop from 3 years ago stated "I will learn one day to do 301 redirects in .htaccess without Googling it."
I still don't know.2
Why do most apps have a password reset page that redirects to a mobile site ?
Why not give them a code they can enter into the app which would then show a password reset page within the app or a link which opens the page within the app.
Isn't it good practice to keep the user within the app?
Isn't it better to serve a token than serve an entire html webpage for the server.
I've been thinking about this but 90% people follow the website pattern and Idk why. Am I missing something ?
Please fill me in on it. (Even devrant uses the same pattern)5
I have an issue with my Laravel routing. Can you help me out, @bittersweet?
I have a custom "/home" route called "/admin" and I set the protected property in the LoginController:
$redirectTo = "/admin";
And it works fine, if I log in from guest. But when I navigate to "/login" as auth-user it still redirects me to "/home".
What the fuck is this? What do I have to change to make this work? Who has to be fucked? Is it possible to solve this without sacrificing a virgin at bloodmoon? And why are Platypus so fucking ugly?14
I recently started learning Erlang. This is the story of how I got trapped into it.
When I code, I usually use my trusty text editor and a terminal to either compile my code or run tests in the language interpreter. The interpreter, erl, works fine, but when I wanted to close it, I ran into a small issue.
Because I never know what the command is to close an interpreter, I usually use the EOF character (^D), that is widely recognized. Except erl does not react to it, not even a tiny message saying it won't close or doesn't recognize the output.
Alright then, let's try quit. That's an atom, it does not behave how I want.
quit() is an undefined shell command, exit() terminates the shell process but the interpreter automatically starts a new one...
But I get the welcome message, telling me to abort with ^G! Some progress, finally... except ^G redirects from Erlang interpreter to user switch command. Damn, another interpreter...
I ended up killing the process from an other terminal.4
The page http://surfacecar.com/ redirects to microsoft.com
Does Microsoft is working on a car in secret?4
Webdev, I should send a form to a site that gets the results and redirects back to the webpage that stands in an invisible form data (very weird!).
Okay, I did...
When I was finished the site didn't redirect to the URL I gave in the form, instead it showed parts(!) of the webpage's HTML.
Okay, I was a little bit surprised and mailed the dev of this weird thing. He answered with this:
"In this Internet thingy, you know, URLs start with 'http://', it's the newest shit!"
Holy shit! Is he serious!? Who the heck programmes such a site that needs a 'http://' in the beginning? (Does this guy know about https?)
And why, why!?, did it show contents of the target URL's site if you give it one without http!?
I, I will go now and get a mild tea, yeah...3
My client installed a new proxy that severely blocks out most of their own intranet, including their IT service desk. We can't raise tickets to let them know and their email just redirects us to their service desk. Fuck me these guys are idiots.
Gets an email from some random thing from the government
Clicks the unsubscribe button which redirects me to send a email with the subject "UNSUBSCRIBE firstname.lastname@example.org"
I think to myself that it's a rather strange way to do it but I assume it's automated...
10 minutes later, 1 new email:
"Thank you got getting in touch with us, blah blah. we'll get back to you as soon as possible - automated email"
The thing that I hate more is when I want to pay something but I can't, because of system or technical problems. Do you imagine how much money are you losing? It's your interest, you should make everything possible to earn money, I can't flip out only to make you happy. Come on bro. I wanted to buy a thing, the website has a mobile version but in the mobile website I can't use credit card. And if I set the desktop version, the website identify the resolution of screen and it redirects me in the mobile version as well. Are you kidding me?1
I just wanted to transfer my domain from domain operator dns to other dns provider.
Now I lost control over my domain and it redirects to those fuckers website.
I thought fuck them, this is their last fuck up so decided to transfer domains from this piece of shit provider to any other.
It turned out you need to send request using post office or visit their office by yourself to get EEC (authinfo) code
Their office is 300km away but cause it’s fucking faster and more reliable then waiting a month for their mail with fucking numbers I will go and do it next week.
Let the fucking hell begin.
I hope those motherfuckers would food poison and shit themselves into their beds till end of their fucking life.
Fuck those fuckers.8
Parking here fucking sucks.
I just made a url shortcut for finding parking, it redirects to the site of a parking lot 15 miles away, because if you get here after 8am, there is no parking. If you want me to work, then give me a place to park my car. Spend some of that executive bonus on building a new parking garage you dog rocket sucking suits.1
So a follow up on my post yesterday, I had a brain flash.
Basically it bypasses a webpage with JS that redirects the browser on mobile browsers so I can actually get to the download page for the anime.
Before I still had to paste the starting but now I just download the anime site to get all the latest updates.
The key was actually getting the information from the page. What I realized was I don't need Title or Episode #. All I need is the URL because it's in there (at least for now). The site probably should've used ids instead but :)2
When you try to make a customer support ticket on a website and it redirects you to a page that says "site is under construction" after you submit a well-composed form that took considerable time to write up:
That's fucking genius. Someone give them a Nobel prize. >.>1
Anyone here familiar with nginx site configuration?
I'm trying to set up it so that my nginx server serves a static website on my domain, redirects users attempting to access via HTTP to HTTPS and proxies a locally hosted server to a subdomain.
At the moment I'm struggling with how I can make both work as you can only bind a port once.
If you know resources that could help me setting up the domains, I'd appreciate it very much.
Thanks in advance. ;)10
I moved a website to a new server, and nginx redirects me to another fucking website on the same server. I have been trying to fix that for FUCKING 3 HOURS. I did everything. Disabled EVERY site on that server except that one, works. I go back. Guess what..... haha it goes back and FUCKING REDIRECTS ME TO OTHER SITES. You have to be fucking kidding me right 🖕. I check if I miswrote anything, check if it's the control panels fault (doesn't look like it). I make a vhost myself for the site (with the other still active to check if it detected the vhost). Reload...
nginx: "One vhost was ignored because the servername already exists". Yeah yeah you twat nginx.
So le me disables every site again (except le not working site). I enable every site again.
nginx: "owh hey * someip * heres the site".
Me: .............. 😡😡 fucking twat. 🖕🖕
BTW, have no clue what caused it. Seems to work now. It shouldn't be a DNS issue I checked that. Anyone any ideas? Appreciate it.3
I was trying to setup a Confluence install on my root behind a Apache Proxy..
I tried all the Atlassian Configs, my own Configs, but nothing works for Tomcat. I redirects you to the infinities of universe. My Apache Configs are all correct.
If you access Confluence directly it also works.
Tomcat you Ass start playing nice with the proxy fucker!
I hate Tomcat now. Go die!2
Tried figuring out why my console window did only put out text sometimes, tried to figure that out for about three hours. Turns out visual studio redirects console output to their own console window by default if you start it in debug mode.
Lesson learned: The second answer on SO which is not marked as correct might be correct for you.
Fantasizing about stabbing SharePoint in the throat, I'm being forced to contact Microsoft tech support, so I need to obtain our software assurance account info.
Our company's rep sends me our SA account numbers (assuming that was all I needed) and the link to create an incident.
Step through Microsoft support ticket 'wizard' which ends with requiring a login with a Microsoft account.
Me: "What login account should I be using?"
Rep: "You shouldn't need one. Just use the SA account number and access ID I sent you."
Me: "There is no entry for those values. I step through a support 'wizard' and the final page redirects me to the Microsoft login page."
Rep: "Use your work email address."
Me: "I can, but I shouldn't have to use my personal outlook email address. Can I just send you the issue and you submit the ticket? After the ticket is created, all the correspondence will be through email anyway."
<30 min. later>
Rep: "I just linked your work email address to your company's account. You should be able to login now."
Me: "Same error. I think you're messing with me."
<30 min. later>
Rep: "Select the option to create an account with your own email."
Me: "Now I know you're messing with me. Already tried that and received the error 'You cant sign up here with a work or school email address'."
Rep: "Weird...I guess Microsoft changed their policy."
Me: "So now what?"
<1 hour later>
Rep: "You might have to send me your SharePoint issue and I'll get a ticket created. After the ticket is created, I'll change the contact email address to you."
WHY DIDN'T YOU DO THAT TWO HOURS AGO!
Whew! Thanks devRant...that's better. I put the knife down and now only want to punch SharePoint in the face.3
I have a question regarding file redirects 2>&1 and 1>&2. I know that file descriptor 1 is std o/p and 2 is std error and that we're redirecting one file descriptor to another.
But why do we do it? What are their use cases? Wouldn't the file to which redirection is setup get too clunky?
Analysis of the file would also become a bit difficult. And wouldn't having errors stored in a separate file make it easier to interpret and fix them?8
Was helping a friend fixing apache url redirects he says I've got cent os i was a bit nervous. The configs were in httpd.conf file but as soon as i try to edit i see there is no nano editor
But there was vi editor, now I'm on call helping this dev and googling vim cheat sheet 😂😂😂😂😂, i had no idea how to edit the file. Its not that hard though.4
Gf asked me to help her with getting science articles. She had some page that her university suggested students to use, but had troubles with downloading documents.
At first I was like "Hey, it says use IE, other browsers are not supported. Thats bad but.. whatever". Then it popped that she needs Java enabled - well, I guess we have to... Even updated it cause it was needed.
Restarted IE, clicked download again and... Java security blocked web app... Eh, I don't trust it but whatever, just let's check what if I whitelist it.
Got some basic view, 1 dropdown list for "file name format" (like anybody cares), path selection where to save file, and some checkbox. Lame, but let's just leave it behind.
Downloaded, it turned out to be html file, not pdf, fishy that it was single file, but hoped for some text styled with css, so I opened it and got redirected to page where I clicked download.
Checked that file content - html with empty body and script tag containing js that redirects on load.
Pardon my ignorance but is what I'm trying to do even possible?
I have a WordPress network and have domain mapping setup. So the original was domainA.com/map and the new is domainB.com. Is there a way for me to keep both the old sub directory and new domain without redirects.
If not oh well.7
I've been trying to find templates for the project I'm doing for a while now, and I just found a bunch of them I really really like, and it fits the theme I have perfectly!
But I can't find the download template link, instead it just redirects to their website, which is a "build a website without coding" type of app.
Just had the worst time ever. Tried to register to a web portal of my ISP. Couldn't even get to the dashboard. It randomly redirects back to login page. Doesn't save info. Asks for info already given in the profile when I try to add my connection and then says info doesn't match with what's in the profile.. WTF!!! I just copy pasted it from the profiles info page. :/ just gave up after trying for the 50th time. I just can't understand how someone could design something with this level of shitty user experiance.
I would just like to say fuck you to the assholes who designed that worthless portal. :/
Building a Web dashboard. Stats a day tiles etc.
Boss wants to write sql stored procedures to populate tiles.
Azure dB returns tile list, that maps to angular directive names, use nested angular directive that auto compiles a directive by name, then that directives controller calls a sql query which returns the name of the query to call to receive data, formats the data into charts or lists, builds the tile, places it into a gridster tile array and redirects to new tile pages by UI router state names.
I... I think I have gone too far. What have I done.
We have a CRM running on an EC2 instance. We need to clone it so we can test a tool on the replica. We tried cloning it directly, sharing the AMI and creating a new instance through it but it always redirects changes to the original production server. The database is on the instance only and static files are stored in S3. Can someone guide me or share some resourses on how to do this.5
Just keep your docs with your source on GitHub. Don't make me use your shitty website and don't subject me to your broken links and constant redirects. I fucking hate this shit so much just give me the raw documentation. Thats all I asked for.
And get rid of that HUGE example column that takes up half my display.
So... At this IT education that I follow everyone except me is in a WhatsApp group.
Basically everyone who is in that group gets called by a private phone number (which most likely redirects a lot to make money)
My classmates still don't realize something is wrong with one of the peoples phone...
They are following IT.....
is there any way that the nemo file explorer on linux mint cinnamon is able to highlight the specific file when for example i downloaded a file with a browser and then want to view the file in the file explorer, so the browser redirects to nemo? how is it that I don't find this feature for nemo? doesn't it exist or am i too dumb googling this problem correctly? this feature is very helpful on windows, so what about it on other file managers?13
