Search - "unsubscribe"
I got a spam email from Adobe. I tried to unsubscribe from all their lists. When I clicked submit it went to a 404. Good job, Adobe4
Depression is like email newsletters, nobody signed up for that shit and the unsubscribe link never works 🙈 fuck that 📧5
I hate it when I click on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email (which is in fact hidden by making the text color slightly darker/lighter than the background of the email ) and it takes me to some freaking website where I have to like summon a demon and sacrifice a virgin to unsubscribe from their emailing list and they send me another email saying I have successfully unsubscribe and if I want to resubscribe again and with you guest it another unsubscribe button at the end of that email .....7
>>Gets email about a social issue and completely disagree with the organization that sends email.
>>clicks unsubscribe and puts "I didn't sign up for this" as the reason why.
>>2 days later get another email from the exact same place
>>clicks unsubscribe and types "Listen here you victim playing fuckers. I told you to unsubscribe from this email list because I don't want to receive emails from your bullshit organization. Fuck you."
>>Gets a confirmation email that my name has been removed moments later.
Moral of the story: Strong language gets the job done.20
Fuck you Amazon.
It's becoming harder each day to place an order WITHOUT subscribing to Amazon Prime.
Highlighted buttons that automatically subscribe you to it (with very small text 'warning' you underneath), purposely obscure alternative buttons.. Fuck you.
As someone really paying attention to that kind of details - in order to avoid getting tricked into buying something I don't want, I'm starting to find it more and more difficult.
I can't stand the fact that less precautious people - such as my parents - could get tricked into it so easily by that kind of morally wrong design.
The same thing goes for microscopic 'unsubscribe' links at the bottom of newsletters. And don't even get me started on the whole '1 month trial, opt out or pay next month' thing.
Oh boi. 😡 😠19
Email. Fuck everything about it.
It's an obnoxious queue of messages I somehow must handle. And everyone in society expects you to have email. You can cancel your phone number, maybe even live without a house... but every hobo still must check their email.
It is an endless shitstream of things I don't want. Like a garden with some nice tomato plants, but then a really smelly weed starts invading and no matter what you do it keeps coming back.
I don't want to login to unsubscribe. I don't care about your "notifications center", or "managing the offers you receive from us".
And then your boss asks you to design an email campaign... I don't want to receive that shit, why would our customers? And even if I agreed with using email as a communication channel... YOU THOUGHT CSS IN INTERNET EXPLORER WAS A BITCH?
No really. Fuck email. Fuck everything about it.17
That's right you fucking c*nts! Put an unsubscribe button but still send me emails even after unsubscribing a million times!🖕7
I can unsubscribe from your spam newsletter for FREE? HOW THANKFUL I AM!
What a great and kind service..and it doesn’t even cost anything to UNSUBSCRIBE when I DID NOT SUBSCRIBE IN THE FIRST PLACE4
I am just a relatively newbie at devRant, but if I see something like in the picture I feel like devRant needs a feature to subscribe/unsubscribe to an rant without commenting.
(Don't know if this has already been discussed here)7
Why even bother with article sites now? Try to search for a quick answer to a question and the only resource is some article and the user is met with:
- "Hi, here's where all your data goes. Please unsubscribe from our 937 partners and continue."
- "It looks like you're using adblocker. Mind whitelisting us for the 2 minutes we're in your life for? "
- "Before we show you the single sentence answer you're looking for let us promote our shitty content that you'll never click on because we hired the guy who makes shady porn links on every z-list site possible."
- "This article is in multiple parts to spread ad revenue. Click next to continue."
There's probably an extension that stops most of this but christ, it shouldn't be this bad.10
Seriously ? Thanks for nothing ? Is this an appropriate subject, given that you are sending Thanksgiving greetings to your users ? Honestly I feel attacked. I'll probably unsubscribe and block them.19
The only good thing about these emails is knowing just who I should unsubscribe from. I had a wave of unsubscribing months ago, but there's some stragglers I forgot about. One day my email box will.be pure again lmao2
CompanyYouNeverHeardOf sends you IrrelevantNewsletter512... so you hunt for the unsubscribe link, which you find buried in the boilerplate crap at the bottom of the mail, rendered in #eee on a #fff background, in 4-point type, and click that. End up on a web site that asks you like 8 times if you're sure you want to leave and please, reconsider, we're nice folk really, blah blah blah. And then you get *another* email from them saying they received your unsubscribe request, and *then* yet another to confirm that yes, you unsubscribed, and please feel free to re-sub anytime (as if!)
GOD I HATE MARKETEERS!!!1one9
Protip - when a user unsubscribes from your mailing list that they never signed up to, DON'T SEND THEM ANOTHER FUCKING EMAIL CONFIRMING THE ACTION - DO IT ON THE UNSUBSCRIBE PAGE.
This is the FOURTH (4th) time I've unsubscribed from this bastard list, made a bunch of formal complaints about it and yet I keep getting their emails.
Probably shouldn't have bothered hiding the names, Flooding their inboxes would have taught them a nice lesson about unsolicited emails.18
Remember my unsubscribe post (https://devrant.com/rants/1276485/...) where I was trying to stop assholes spam me?
Well, I wrote to their customer service, India's one of the most trusted and valuable brand.
Here's what I get this morning.8
I hate emails where you have to login to unsubscribe. Usually a deal breaker for me. Fine you can continue to spam me, I've gave it my all and failed.5
Sites which send you an email when you unsubscribe from newsletters to ask why you didn't want to be emailed daily.
For the love of God. Please stop trying to make me download your shitty mobile app. I don’t have room, and I don’t want it. I just want to read the content that YOU SENT TO ME (looking at you, Quora). Nice way to make sure I unsubscribe and never come back. An unclosable pop up on mobile that just has a button to your mobile app while I have limited data and patience doesn’t do it for me. Fuck whoever came up with THAT brilliant decision.1
On the bright side, with all these privacy update emails, it has given me a chance to unsubscribe from all the shitty newsletters that I subscribed loooong back and to delete unwanted spam accounts that I don't use anymore.
Got a couple marketing emails from a Wordpress hosting site today that I visited yesterday.
However I did type my email address in the registration form while on the phone with our "web developer".
I went back and sure enough, they POST the email immediately after field exit so they can start the marketing spam before signup.
And, of course, no unsubscribe.
Those. Mother. Fuckers.3
Is there a limit to how many users we can subscribe to here on devRant?
I have noticed that whenever I subscribe to new users, somehow random previous subscription(s) are un-subscribed and later I notice when I manually visit that user's profile that they have posted rants and I was unaware of it.
Can anybody confirm this or am I the only one who is facing this weird behaviour?7
Twitter emails are the nastiest shit somebody could have ever thought of, theres atleast five million variations of emails: suggestions, you missed these tweets, ... and every single one has to be unsubscribed via its own link, you can't just fucking unsubscribe from all its bullshit2
Here's an advice to you guys:
Ever look at your mailbox and think it's so full of junk?
Archive all your current emails.
Then next time you get any spam emails take the time to unsubscribe or block the sender.
Trust me, life is so much better after you've got rid of those craps. And it's not that hard like it seems. In a week you'll probably get rid if 90% of those.3
The unsubscribe link on the emails from whois.com redirects you to a fucking PDF with written instructions on how to unsubscribe...
Are you fucking kidding me?
I have to go on your website, login, go through 4 fucking sections in the settings to finally select "NO" in a radio button???
It should be illegal.1
I fucking hate those apps/websites where you can create an account but there's no fucking way of deleting it by yourself, nor even by messaging a moderator...fuck, and it's even worse when they put you on their newsletter list and the unsubscribe doesn't do anything...Fuck
Please fellow devs, if you ever work on apps that require creating an account, provide a way to delete it too.
How to make those marketing staff of x service stop sending you an email when they don't have unsubscribe link:
1. Reply back asking about the free tier/plan
2 days and no word from them after spamming me daily about the service3
Strange : Am I the only person who never got Weekly Top Rant email? Did I configured something wrong?
CLICK the picture to see it... I am sure something is messed up....
Bug1: hey dfox... Please see this...
Leave a comment in a long rant. (like here)
Delete your comment.
How do i reply to the last person's comment?
Feature request: rant id search ability in search8
Checked mails and saw bunch of newsletters from the same company.
Me: huh? I don't remember subscribing to these. *scrolled down* here it is, (button to unsubscribe from these emails)
*Clicked and got redirected to their feedback page before unsubscribing.
Me: Cool, just need to provide feedback, not a big deal. *gave feedback*
Message reads : DONE. Operation failed. Due to technical error
What!! I'm gonna block the shit out of you!!1
Every website with a newsletter that you can't unsubscribe with just one click, but instead you have to log in, and go to settings, and select the fucking unsubscribe option, should be BANNED from internet!
In most cases this kind of website is unusable with a smartphone, or at least only the settings page is not responsive, to make it more difficult to fucking unsubuscribe.
I'm trying to unsubscribe from a fucking website since 2016, but every time I open the email with my smartphone it's just impossible to do it, and I forgot every time to do it when I'm using a PC.
Now, after a few months I received this fucking SPAM when I was using my PC, but I forgot my password, and the recovery password option just doesn't work, so I still can't do it!
If you're one of these fucking developers, there is a special place for you in hell.
Even if the decision to make it so fucking dumb isn't yours, you are still accomplice, because you should have leave this fucking job.1
One plus of all this GDPR emailing bullshit is that it's spurred me to unsubscribe from everything.5
Confession time: I always unsubscribe from Rant notifs after i leave a comment so i get only ++ notifs instead of random ones.5
MongoDB really needs to chill the fuck out with their email marketing, daily emails plus frequent harassment from sales reps wanting to know why I downloaded their software is getting on my tits now.
Anybody would think I'm the first person that's ever installed the bloody thing.
Whenever I add an address to spam or unsubscribe it just seems like the origin address changes, having to rely on client side filtering, yayyy1
I developed an Android app that authenticates users via HTTP. Because it's an internal use app for employees only, we are in charge of unsubscribe the users that have access to the app in case they leave the company; all we have to do is update a bit column in one DB table and that's it, nothing complicated. My manager thought it was a good idea to develop an entire "front-end" website to make this task "easier", and yes, I am the one he put in charge of doing this, even though I work in the company as an Android dev, not a web dev. Making this site would be really simple and it'd only take a few hours of effort, but I find it really stupid and a waste of time coding a whole website to achieve a goal that only takes one freaking SQL sentence and no real clients using it. I don't know if, in fact, this is a stupid and useless idea, or I'm being a dick and have no reasons to blame my manager and bitch about it.4
Pocket Newsletter "GitHub is making microsoft smarter"
One hour prior reading GitHub support about a Linux client that did come out on OCS recently but hadn't yet: "We don't have a lot of Linux experts here so I (random tech answering inquiry) don't think it will"
Two minutes after reading that "electron was made with ubuntu 12.04"
Back to present: *scrolls down to bottom of pocket email. Unsubscribe, deletes pocket account. deletes browser addins, stops using firefox and moves to Falkon after doing the same with Google before*
If Microsoft's average IQ or EQ increased, it was because it was so low to begin with. But pocket's clearly isn't getting smarter either. I am in tech because A) I don't watch major league sociopath sports (politics) and B) business journalism makes me sick to my stomach. The opinion pieces by half wits that are 99% of tech articles now are no better. Stop reading that shit, its worthless fluff and some con artist is actually making money off of it. Starve the idiots, don't let them make content for fuck's sake.4
WTF is up with newletters. I click unsubscribe and get taken to the site where I see the bar confirming, I then get hit with a modal asking me to subscribe and then a few min later an email telling me I can resubscribe if I accidentally unsubscribed. WTF unsubscribes accidentally when they hide that fucking link away3
Fucking EA Games and their fucking shit mailing system!!
All the sudden they start spamming me emails about their shit games nobody fucking cares about. I proceed to inspect the footer to find an 'unsubscribe' link and there was none, just a 'manage my preferences' link.
So I went there. After waiting a whole minute for a simple page to load (wtf) there is a checkbox saying 'yes please spam my inbox with EA's latest news about their shit games nobody cares about' and it was UNCHECKED.
So I leave it unchecked and click update (thinking it might actually unsubscribe me from this crap) BUT NO! I receive another email saying 'thank you, you stupid moron you just subscribed to our shit and will now receive even more of our useless email about how different the new NFS is and how rubbish the new Star wars game is...
Anybody here know that shitty service called Birthday Reminder? Yeah? Fuck them.
Never signed up for the bullshit, but because some kiddo's I was in class with 10+ years ago (I think it started when i was ~12 yrs old) did, I keep on getting their spam. They have an unsubscribe button in their emails, directing me to a page that says I can only unsubscribe if I log in.
I NEVER SIGNED UP FOR YOUR SHITTY SERVICE AND I REALLY DONT WANT TO DO NOW EITHER.
Ofc I emailed them politely to remove both my email addresses from their databases.
And they are politely ignoring me.
PS yes I know I can mark them as spam, but I prefer just not receiving their shit at all. I have a very clean spam folder.6
god damn it No-IP, I've opted out of these email lists 10 fucking times already. this shit is so annoying.2
i needed to get a dvi/hdmi converter and amazon fuked me, again (big surprise) so i went to monoprice
specifically asked "subscribe to promotional emails?" NO - NO i don't fricking want that
email: "order recv"
"more order bs"
"youve been subscribed!"
wtf? NO! i said fucking NO! don't just ignore it you bastards
(i guess this is better than the alternative of usualaly getting suked into it and not knowing til you get emails down the road, but fuk off, miss me with that shit)2
When I say Unsubscribe, I mean Unsubscribe you stupid annoying spammer, I don't care anymore about your shit
Gets an email from some random thing from the government
Clicks the unsubscribe button which redirects me to send a email with the subject "UNSUBSCRIBE firstname.lastname@example.org"
I think to myself that it's a rather strange way to do it but I assume it's automated...
10 minutes later, 1 new email:
"Thank you got getting in touch with us, blah blah. we'll get back to you as soon as possible - automated email"
So our project decided to create a newsletter. For some reason, I was tasked with writing it, includig layout, recepient database etc.
It is the first newsletter, it is urgent and it is supposed to be send to all the people who so far participated. Means: there was never a "sign up here for a newsletter" thingy on the website. Hence, there is also no "unsubscribe" button.
One could kind of "hotfix" this by making a field, like "enter your email adress here to unsubscribe" and then I get a notification and remove the people from the list. Fine by me. Not so many ppl atm so we got time to set it up properly then.
My boss decides it is my job now to implement the stupid unsubscribe button... I am not the website admin. I have nothing to do with the goddamn website. We have ppl in another city, being paid to manage the goddamn website and it would take them just a few minutes to set the stupid button up, since they know what they are doing and I am not.
I told them from the start: I don't do websites. I have nothing to do with them, I don't want to have anything to do with them. We have people for this.
Why the F is it my job now to implement that stupid button?!
And even when I tried to look into how the other formulas which do similar things are set up: oh you don't have permissions to access that. Lovely!
FAK this shiet <.< It is not my fking job.5
No matter how many newsletters I unsubscribe from, there will always be an unread promotion e-mail in my inbox.1
I think I can safely unsubscribe from the /r/ProgrammerHumor subreddit. All the good ones get reposted here anyway :)
Not really a dev related rant but a rant nonetheless
Why is auto renewal forced now on subscription services now? I don't want to have to cancel my service by jumping through hoops and explaining why I want to cancel it before finally cancelling it. I've had to help my parents unsubscribe from a few services because it was too confusing for them to do themselves and they've just let them suck from their wallets for half a year.
I am even angrier at long "free trials" that you are REQUIRED to enter payment information for so that they can charge you once it's over if you don't remember to cancel it after a month and a half. Can't we just go back to auto renewal being an option, please?2
Naming a value of a button, UX vs Back-End Developers:
UX Designers: "Unsubscribe"
Back-End Developer: "Click this button to unsubscribe to this service"
Any email I receive mentioning SharePoint is unsubscribe to and blocked. I should really setup a rule to do this for me automagically.2
Ok... I thought I've seen every kind of shitty way to unsubscribe from a newsletter, but this one beats them all... I have to write a fucking email with a request not to receive emails...
There is a fucking useless law for cookies, why there isn't a law that force companies to put a one-click link to unsubscribe on emails?1
As this is as good a place as any to vent, I feel the need to proclaim that I've had to unsubscribe from /r/ProgrammerHumor on account of all the "volume control" jokes.
I am a patient man, but I simply cannot deal with monotony. It is the same fucking joke over and over again popping into my feeds.
Gonna give it a couple of months until it dies down.
Here on devrant, I guess I'll just have to downvote and trust in algo to save me2
Mesosphere sold every e-mail who registered with them to Tech Global Leads. Either that or Tech Global Leads stole a list of leaked e-mail addresses. In either case I unregistered/unsubscribed from Mesosphere and still got e-mails to those two specific accounts from Tech Global Leads with Mesosphere consulting soliciting. (So they keep e-mail information, even for accounts that unsubscribe).
TGL doesn't even have a website up. They're either amateurs or scammers. Either way, fuck you and your spam, both TGL and Mesosphere. Go die in a fire.1
Services with newsletters, you need this "unsubscribe" button to be clearly set, since "report spam" is 2 seconds faster to find. And the last email you send confirming that i unsubscribed may assure that i will report you as spam.1
Too much wrong with this...
Test your template before sending, noobs!
And... Where oh where is the unsubscribe link?!1
I keep getting texts from KappAhl and it's impossible to unsubscribe, hence their ads can only be classified as spam. There should be an AdBlocker for SMS.3
Ever started to like a company so much that you wanna subscribe to their spams because it was so simple to unsubscribe from their spam?
When you have to block a email address from a website providing you a great way to have a payment form for your client because they didnt implement the unsubscribe and you get spammed at every test
When you unsubscribe from some spam mails. And start clicking "no" by default and then the last question ...
