Ever wanted cheat codes to devRant? Well, that's weird. But here you go, I guess.
Since the avatars do not use any external assets (Such as images), all avatars are generated. To be friendly to people who want to make third-party devRant clients (such as devRantron), avatars are generated server-side, so that the assets don't need to be distributed, and third-party programmers don't need to work out rendering avatars.
But this allows you to cheat a little.
The devRant avatars API works like this: you request a really long URL from the API, specifying the IDs of each cosmetic item the user has active, and it returns a PNG file. But you don't need an auth token to generate an avatar (which makes sense), so the avatar API is essentially a sandbox you can play around with if you have the time and patience.
You can write a really good avatar previewer with this knowledge, and see your avatar with a white tiger, even if you don't have the ++s13 -

Straight from a marketing analyst (we didn't have a PM) I once had the displeasure of working with:
"Can you write a JavaScript that will scan a user's hard drive for credit card numbers and autofill the checkout form on our client's web site? I think it will increase their conversion rate."
The guy didn't believe me when I told him it was impossible (barring exploits that would break the browser's sandbox), unethical, and probably illegal. I had to escalate all the way to the CEO to get him to drop it.6 -
This looks good!
The users will be able to create a sandbox, basically a seperate Kernel for running a lightweight Windows Sandbox using Hypervisor for running/testing .exe files.

god i hate this company's product.
Visit merchant-facing sandbox -> 404. works after a refresh.
Log into sandbox with admin account -> redirects to a different signin url -> 500s -> signin no longer works.

I was developing a project that also featured automatic payment to specific sites. I asked for a dummy credit card and he insisted I use the company's credit card. Who would ever want to give a developer actual credit card credentials for development!? I was a junior dev back then. Of course, I failed once. I got told off because I wasted money. My team leader defended me and said this is the risk of having projects with payments. I got proof I asked for a possible sandbox for payment or whatever that will work for development. Almost got fired. Because of that incident, I'm not comfortable working with projects dealing with payment that doesn't have sandboxes.

This morning I kept falling back asleep after the alarm went off, drifting in and out of a dream about programming.
My wife finally said "no more sleeping".
Still mostly sleep, I replied very confidently "you can't sleep in a sandbox!".
I was dreaming I was in a code sandbox. Obviously sleeping is not allowed.
Jeez, my head has been really full of programming since this conference. (One of the talks was on codesandbox). -
166 lines of if else hell just to decide between prod and sandbox.
Run the same query multiple times to get the same data.
And that's all written by our code review team lead.

Project: I need someone to debug an application's code and review it. Budget 30 bucks.
Bid: I am an experienced developer I can probably review it in an hour.
client: Hi, need you to check if app is contains virus [link to scam website]
me: sure, download supposed "social Bitcoin miner" and run some AV tests...8+ positive flags for a Trojan virus.
>Me: It's a Trojan virus mate it's not legitimate😟
>Client: Can you remove the Trojan virus so that the legit not stays?
Me: Umm there is no bot mate it's just a virus 😕 I wouldn't open it outside a sandbox
Client: But here it says Bitcoin faucet bot [links shitty how-to youtube video]
Me: 😒 it's not real dude you are about to get scammed, I can test it in a VM if you. . .
Client: I opened it already, it's working
Me: 😮 r u sure?
Client: yes, can you install VM for further testing?
Me: sure, in your computer?
Client: yes
Me: just download the windows image and text me when it's done
Client: My disc is full! Only 3 gb left
Me: 😑 call me when you clean it

IPod didn't sync well on my Linux machines so decided to give windows - in a highly isolated environment disconnected from the Internet behind a firewall and sandbox - a shot with itunes.
- during the installation it wouldn't detect the fucking harddrive multiple times (genuine unlicensed copy) and after the 4-5th time it's random-fuckingly recognized out of fucking nowhere; I didn't change shit.
- crashes (blue screen and freezes) multiple times during the installation, multiple retries and suddenly it works(?!)
- it took about 10 minutes (!!!!!!!) to install 10+ drivers for an iPod and an external hdd:
Installing Apple iPod drivers... Done
Installing seagate drivers... Done
Installing apple iPod drivers... Done
Installing seagate drivers... Done
Installing Apple iPod drivers... Done
Installing seagate drivers... Done
Installing Apple iPod drivers... Done
Installing seagate drivers... Done
Installing Apple iPod drivers... Done
WHY INSTALL THOSE FUCKERS 5 FUCKING TIMES?!
- iTunes installation fails multiple times without error code (unknown error occured, restoring to original state...),just said fuck it and clicked the shortcut after the ***th fail and it works just like this, THANKS FOR NOTIFYING ME (NOT)!
- iTunes has to restore the entire ipod, this was done with iTunes in the store I bought it already, thanks for nothing.
-restore takes 30+ minutes?!
-syncs the iPod 3 times afterwards.
*clicks close button*
*are you sure you want to quit? Sync in progress*
*oh shit, cancels*
*itunes quits*
*?!?!?*
*tries to import media library*
*seagate hdd suddenly not detected*
I'm fucking tired of this bullshit, windows and iTunes can go die in a fucking corner after getting ass raped while their genitals are being scraped off layer by fucking layer and dipped into fucking acid.15 -
I feel I am getting paid for getting trolled (you read that right) - I have had now two completely seperate clients, a month apart - paying me hundreds of dollars for "testing".
I have explained both of them atleast for a total of 8 hours why there's "sandbox" accounts and that the "virtual money" is the same as "real money", so later when you go live, it will be the exact same, just without the need of actually testing with actual money.
I even as a last suggestion asked to atleast be developing with $0.01 transactions (to literally not run out of additional money, because of the different packages), but they wanted it to be as "real" as possible. -
Perfect job is when sandbox and production api endpoints works the same.
Fuck all api endpoints where their sandbox works differently than the production.
Fuck all those error messages that appear only in production, despite faithfully following the documentations.
Fuck the gateways where their sandbox is more stable than the production.
Fuck the endpoints whose api parameters differ in what they accept between sandbox and production.
Fuck those manuals that does not document these diferrences.
Fuck those developers and support team who don't know how to support integrators. They don't even know how their apis work!9 -
My company just migrated our mail servers over to office365. My boss has been excited and could barely contain himself when the migration was done he was having the best day ever after he got a good deal on some new toys...Then I ruined it.
Me (setting up) > WTF!? um...well I guess I don't have email on my phone anymore. These permissions are fucked.
Him > Oh why?
Me > They are ridiculous, I won't give away this much control just to read email.
Him (panicking) > and if buy you a company phone?
Me > Not a fuck it's still a personal device. I'll just sandbox the web version.
Him > Your over reacting, they obviously need them for security blah blah...
Me (sends him the pic) > The minimum system requirement is internet.
(...silence...)
I feel kinda bad for killing his vibe - he's a nice guy and he's only trying to do right by us but now he seems down like his toy isn't shiny anymore because he respects me. I wasn't beating on the stack or his choice (mines running on thunderbird). I just can't support this trend of GOD mode permissions for email / calculator and other single feature apps. I'll use the web app instead. You have to draw the line somewhere...

After a few weeks of being insanely busy, I decided to log onto Steam and maybe relax with a few people and play some games. I enjoy playing a few sandbox games and do freelance development for those games (Anywhere from a simple script to a full on server setup) on the side. It just so happened that I had an 'urgent' request from one of my old staff member from an old community I use to own. This staff member decided to run his own community after I sold mine off since I didn't have the passion anymore to deal with the community on a daily basis.
O: Owner (Former staff member/friend)
D: Other Dev
O: Hey, I need urgent help man! Got a few things developed for my server, and now the server won't stay stable and crashes randomly. I really need help, my developer can't figure it out.
Me: Uhm, sure. Just remember, if it's small I'll do it for free since you're an old friend, but if it's a bigger issue or needs a full recode or whatever, you're gonna have to pay. Another option is, I tell you what's wrong and you can have your developer fix it.
O: Sounds good, I'll give you owner access to everything so you can check it out.
Me: Sounds good
*An hour passes by*
O: Sorry it took so long, had to deal with some crap. *Insert credentials, etc*
Me: Ok, give me a few minutes to do some basic tests. What was that new feature or whatever you added?
O: *Explains long feature, and where it's located*
Me: *Begins to review the files* *Internal rage wondering what fucking developer could code such trash* *Tests a few methods, and watches CPU/RAM and an internal graph for usage*
Me: Who coded this module?
O: My developer.
Me: *Calm tone, with a mix of some anger* So, you know what, I'm just gonna do some simple math for ya. You're running 33 ticks a second for the server, with an average of about 40ish players. 33x60 = 1980 cycles a minute, now lets times that by the 40 players on average, you have 79,200 cycles per minute or nearly 4.8 fucking cycles an hour (If you maxed the server at 64 players, it's going to run an amazing fucking 7.6 million cycles an hour, like holy fuck). You're also running a MySQLite query every cycle while transferring useless data to the server, you're clusterfucking the server and overloading it for no fucking reason and that's why you're crashing it. Another question, who the fuck wrote the security of this? I can literally send commands to the server with this insecure method and delete all of your files... If you actually want your fucking server stable and secure, I'm gonna have to recode this entire module to reduce your developer's clusterfuck of 4.8 million cycles to about 400 every hour... it's gonna be $50.
D: *Angered* You're wrong, this is the best way to do it, I did stress testing! *Insert other defensive comments* You're just a shitty developer (This one got me)
Me: *Calm* You're calling me a shitty developer? You're the person that doesn't understand a timer, I get that you're new to this world, but reading the wiki or even using the game's forums would've ripped this code to shreds and you to shreds. You're not even a developer, cause most of this is so disorganized it looks like you copy and pasted it. *Get's angered here and starts some light screaming* You're wasting CPU usage, the game can't use more than 1 physical core, and after a quick test, you're stupid 'amazing' module is using about 40% of the CPU. You need to fucking realize the 40ish average players, use less than this... THEY SHOULD BE MORE INTENSIVE THAN YOUR CODE, NOT THE OPPOSITE.
O: Hey don't be rude to Venom, he's an amazing coder. You're still new, you don't know as much as him. Ok, I'll pay you the money to get it recoded.
Me: Sounds good. *Angered tone* Also you developer boy, learn to listen to feedback and maybe learn to improve your shitty code. Cause you'll never go anywhere if you don't even understand who bad this garbage is, and that you can't even use the fucking wiki for this game. The only fucking way you're gonna improve is to use some of my suggestions.
D: *Leaves call without saying anything*
TL;DR: Shitty developer ran some shitty XP system code for a game nearly 4.8 million times an hour (average) or just above 7.6 million times an hour (if maxed), plus running MySQLite when it could've been done within about like 400 an hour at max. Tried calling me a shitty developer, and got sorta yelled at while I was trying to keep calm.
Still pissed he tried calling me a shitty developer... -
ArmA 3, a great sandbox that I "wasted" a lot time scripting modding or, if you like to call it that: developing for.
A game so great, the Multiplayer-server-browser stores the amount of players on a server in an 8 bit integer.
Someone complaint a few years ago.
Response: " be happy, it were 4 bits not to long ago"
There were Servers who ran into that problem.
To clarify, that only affected the shown number, not the amount of players, at least not directly.
Who likes to be lonely in a multiplayer game.1 -
The coolest thing I have worked on is a League of Legends sandbox. A reverse engineering of the official server, so we could do whatever we want.

Long time no rant from me. Sorry guys, has been a tough time for me.
Little background: I'm an apprentice and as such definitely not a fully trained professional. I'm working in a big company with people who have very let's say interesting ideas what I should be able to do.
This whole disaster begins shortly after I started my apprenticeship. I was offered to choose my first little project. "Something from the backlog, not very challenging and a nice beginner one. It's just about a PoC" ok, le me thinks. I choose to make a weather display.
Basic functionality was provided within the next 3 weeks. My direct boss (let's call him Jo) liked it and talked to his boss (Hugo) about it. Hugo was so excited he called our product manager to get my plugin into our software asap and began to think about where else we could use this.
This is where shit went downhill. Hugo told me it was my task to implement it on a totally different platform and to "host it in azure". I don't know much about azure and I never used it. I told him that I'd need time and some kind of sandbox to try and learn how things work. He promised but nothing ever came through. Not even Jo could do something about this.
They told me I should write this asap because "every customer would LOOOOVE this" and I honestly can't think of a way to meet all their requirements without access to our azure system/ sandbox. (There are a lot of requirements)
Am I wrong? Should I be able to do this? I'm a fucking trainee. I don't know everything.7 -
I have a sandbox account for a product we are developing and I'm receiving promotional emails.
I could just opt out, but I think it's adorable how they try to surprise me with the new features I created -
Things that seem "simple" but end up taking a long ass time to actually deploy into production:
1. Using a new payment processor:
"It's just a simple API, I'll be done in 2 hours"
LOL sure it is, but testing orders and setting up a sandbox or making sure you have credentials right, and then switching from test to life and retesting, and then... fuck
2. Making changes to admin stats.
"'I just have to add this column and remove that one... maybe like a couple of hours"
YOU WISH
3. Anything Javascript
"Hah, what, that's like a button, np"
125 minutes later...
console.log('before foo');
console.log(this.foo)
etc..2 -
I see loads of rants complaining about getting asked for tech help. And then I see Linux getting recommended as an OS.
Me? I'm telling everyone to use ChromeOS so they leave me the fuck alone.
In the future, I'll tell everyone they are too fucking stupid to own a computer and phone is the way to go.
Systems thinking, people.1 -
Switching from an Open Source IDE to Visual Studio is quite literally just like going straight from a sandbox into gold mining.3

Who thought Lua was a good idea for extending gameplay functionality??
It's weakly typed, has no OOP functionality and no namespace rules. It has no interesting data structures and tables are a goddamn mystery. Somebody made the simplest language they could and now everybody who touches it is given the broadest possible tools to shoot themselves in the foot.
Lua's ease of embedding into C++ code is a fool's paradise. Warcraft 3's JASS scripting language had way more structure and produced much better games, whilst being much simpler to work with than Lua.
All the academics describing metatables as 'powerful extensionality' and a fill-in for OOP are digging the hole deeper. Using tables to implement classes doesn't work easily outside school. Hiding a self:reference to a function inside of syntactic sugar is just insanity.
Nobody expects to write a triple-A game in lua, but they are happy to fob it off to kids learning to program. WoW made the right choice limiting it to UI extensions.
Fighting the language so you can try and understand a poorly documented game engine and implement gameplay features as the dev's intend for 'modders', is just beyond the pale. It's very difficult to figure out what the standard for extending functionality is, when everybody is making it up as they go along and you don't have a strongly-typed and structured language to make it obvious what the devs intended.
If you want to give your players a coding sandbox, make the scripting language yourself like JASS. It will be way better fit for purpose, way easier to limit for security and to guarantee reasonable performance. Your players get a sane environment to work in and you just might get the next DOTA.
Repeatedly shooting yourself in the foot on invisible syntax errors and an incredibly broad language is wasted suffering for kids that could be learning the programming concepts that cross all languages way quicker and with way more satisfying results.
Lua is hot garbage for it's most popular application, I really don't get it. Just stop!24 -

I started learning to use Hadoop recently, and am running a VM with all I need installed on it (the HDF Sandbox to be exact). The VM wants 8GB to run and my laptop only has just that, except it also needs to run Windows at the same time...
At first I thought I was screwed, that I'd need a more capable computer to learn. I gave it a shot anyway, and told VirtualBox to give the VM 4GB, hoping the VM itself would use RAM swap to function. And it did!
What I didn't expect was Windows not slowing down even a bit. Turns out Windows can triple the computer's RAM with virtual memory that it keeps on disk.
So the bottom line is: my VM is using 4GB as if it was 8GB, and at the moment my Windows is using 8GB as if they were 14GB. All of this without breaking a sweat. The more you know!3 -
Stupid stupid stupid API that returns a 204 on failed validations.
Informative docs? Hell no! Here's a few hundred long-ass field names that you need to pass as a JSON.
Doesn't work huh? Yeah, you're structure's all wrong. Some of these are grouped in vaguely named keys like "Wholesale".
Oh you need those as well? Yeah, you can see the whole structure if you try to GET an object.
Oh you need an ID to GET an object? Yeah you can just go ahead and create as many as you want. This is just a sandbox API, it's cool.
Oh that's not the point? Ahh you need the structure to be able to create one! *haha* Right, I'll get back to you on that.
* Email correspondence over 2 weeks time. I have still yet to be able to make a an actual successful request. The fucking 204 doesn't count if it doesn't actually create the resource.
Fucking fucky fuckity fuck fuck fuck.
I swear to god if I ever meet this guy in person, I will probably buy him coffee or beer and have a long talk about how to build proper REST APIs.
Because I'm nice like that.8 -
I would like to stop and genuinely thank the devs and anyone that contributed to NW.js for allowing users to work outside the sandbox. Fucking sandboxes these days make developing editors and tooling a bunch of bullshit hassle. I understand why, but it makes an entire class of software that much more difficult to develop.
And on a semirelated note, I decided to go with nw.js because unlike electron, I don't have to tell users "just install these two gigabytes of npm dependencies *from off the net after already downloading the main application*, dependencies that could break at any time at all for any reason."
Does anyone even bundle their dependencies any more or is this something only clinically insane people like myself do?
Because last I checked most users still don't know how to debug console autobarf when a single command goes awry due to something obscure like a version conflict between two brittle cogs in the organ grinder known as package management.
Edit: also, nw.js startup times and memory requirements are relatively sane compared to electron.3 -
Years ago I was on the board for the European Student Card pilot.

Gamemaker studio 2's 2019 roadmap just got released.. Still no Linux IDE (FFS) but it only took them how many years to realise that not every developer is a malicious cunt and give us the ability to disable to sandbox file system?!
I swear they add and change stuff that is so trivial instead of focusing on the engines major problems and absent features, eg. Can't use SVG graphics, the need to be exported in flash (SWF) because you know, makes sense?17 -
Why do game studios force social/multiplayer in single player games?
Single player sandbox? How about we make it a multiplayer co-op?
Just fine 1 on 1 brawl? Hey how about you find a team and tag team? No? Too bad fuck you, no points to you for a whole fucking season.
Ugh.15 -
My manager gave me a project about integration & deployment to another internal product which involves consuming oauth credentials which were already available in AmazonS3. The worst part of this is I wont have any access to any AWS resources and no sandbox environment.
And I'm like. How the fuck should I do this? Should I just conceptualize and pray to the machine spirits and hope that this wont have any fucking issues? -
Is anybody else nonstop recruited for what essentially chalk up to be excel or google calendar clones? God, all of these 5 mil + funded startups are web apps for TABLES... I mean WTF ARE WE DOING HERE FOLKS?!

Google's privacy sandbox. The latest evil empire is 10x more monopolistic than MS in the 90s. Not excusing any of that behavior. Just noting that it's now much much worse.

Worst coding mistake was copying data from a live site to a sandbox site. Data was 1 year old and it's a magazine site.
Accidentally restored year old data to live site. Rolling back all content to a year back.

Latest Yandex browser (Chromium based) throws an error if "document.hasStorageAccess()" is called (:
Ie the StorageAPI that allows cross-site cookie access on user-interaction
the iFrame sandbox flags that compliment it, ie "allow-storage-access-by-user-activation" also fails on execution.
Both of these work on Edge/Chrome/Firefox.
I thought Firefox and Chromium browsers are all ive to deal with and im done but NO.
Now within Chromium-based browsers theres differences of API as well?

*One Month Ago*
Project Manager: we have allocated these two workstations for you to extract data (set) from malicious files, they are off the network. I though would also prefer a seperate laptop for this project you can take this one (pointing towards the newish laptop on the table)
Me: (i declined his offer because i didn't wanted to carry two laptops everywhere) I'm going to use my own laptop, but I'll be using a sand box or virtual machine.
*Fast Forward to Today*
Accidentally ran a script outside the sandbox, which due to some unknown reasons ended up executing a bunch of malicious files I only realised my mistake when my antivirus started to go bonkers FML.
P.S. both of those PCs are now connected network because of me.
Fingers crossed2 -
Fuck UPS and their API Documentation. Has anyone here ever integrated their API ?
Their API documentation doesn't mention any sandbox or testing accounts.
If I click on their create access key button, it takes me to a form which requires a real payment method and address which seems like it's meant for real stuff not testing.4 -
I decided I am going to get full into Minecraft modding. It will be an opportunity to learn Java and Kotlin. I want to explore some game ideas in a well defined sandbox.
Some things I want to explore.
1. AI that helps you build and survive. This fascinates me and seems like it could be a good challenge. I like the idea of learning how to separate structures into chunks. I think I will learn a bit about tree data structures here. Maybe learn something about BSP trees (if applicable).
2. The idea of an RPG quest system tacked onto a sandbox. I want to spawn structures and create non-repetitive story lines. Minecraft can be really desolate if you are not playing on a server. Worlds tend to be empty and devoid of story.
3. Maybe try a hand at terrain gen. This could be fun to explore entropy math. It is fun to draw things with math.
I am sure I will come up with other fun things to explore here.9 -
Dev-tip of the day:
Always make sure that your database table fields are long enough to hold the entire third-party API client reference ID, so that the last three characters won’t be cut off..
I’ve been “crying” here while debugging for the last hour because my API function and everything else worked, but the result wasn’t showing up in the third-party application (their API returned a 200), but when I tested it with their API sandbox application, it did show up.. -
Fuckers didn't even give my account access to the fucking soap action I was calling after 3 weeks of email chains and other back and forth.
First the credentials I was given "we're fully set up" and now this BS??
Fucking test your live and sandbox environments work BEFORE you let your clients start their integrations.
And if they have issues, try to emulate the e-2-e test and prove you can complete the transaction yourself BEFORE emailing back 🤦1 -

Devs: You are completely and totally idiotic bozos fooling around in the sandbox like a bunch of babies1 -
Ok let's get our hate and love out for the 3 main OS types, tell us why you hate or love each of them.
Windows: I hate its lack of customisation, colours and wallpapers only go so far, and how fucking bloated it is and how little you can do about it.
Linux: it's open, free, and pretty much a sandbox for changes and is lightweight, plus if you don't like something about it, remove it, whats not to love!
MacOS: I love it because it just works and could also run on a potato (yeah I said it, fight me) and it's just a very good looking is with fluid animations and simplicity.
Now, don't be hating on people's opinions here so keep it civil :-P13 -

vacation last week, when I came back yesterday it was broken. My backup didn't tried checking what was wrong btw. Turned out IG got strict with its apps on June 1 (sandbox). He waited for me and didn't even bother to try to fix it.
Oh, app will be launched today. Good luck PMs and fuck my backup.4 -
Cybersecurity firm Sophos announced that it has open-sourced the Sandboxie Windows sandbox-based isolation utility. According to the reports of Bleeping Computer: Sandboxie was developed by Ronen Tzur and released on June 26, 2004, as a simple utility to help run Internet Explorer within a secure and isolated sandbox environment. Later, Tzur upgraded Sandboxie to also support sandboxing any other Windows applications that required a secure virtual sandbox.
Sophos Director of Product Marketing Seth Geftic said "We are thrilled to give the code to the community. The Sandboxie tool has been built on many years highly-skilled developer work and is an example of how to integrate with Windows at a very low level. The Sandboxie user base represents some of the most passionate, forward-thinking, and knowledgeable members of the security community, and we hope this announcement will spawn a fresh wave of ideas and use cases."
You can download Sandboxie and its source code here.

dang it. just because I signed in using google on an app. doesn't mean I want to be signed in to google everywhere. whatever happened to the privacy sandbox.
Why do I think older iOS version actually does what I want?2 -
I just want to shoot myself. This happened to me today. I will replace the name of the person for privacy issues. i joined this company a week ago.
my question:
"hey [co worker name].
How can i install a tool on my sandbox. I'm not on the sudoers file. Have you used "ag", is awesome to search code and nicer than grep
https://github.com/ggreer/...
is actually available as a centos package in the repo.
the_silver_searcher.x86_64 : Super-fast text searching tool (ag)
but i don't have permission to install it
my co worker's response.
For that you would need first to create a presentation and show it to the team, explaining the benefits of that tool over what we have right now
That presentation you would show it to the team and from there we can do corrections and any other verifications in order to have a meeting with Jorge and DevOps to show them the presentation2 -
Took my first PTO today since joining the new company to get my wisdom teeth extracted. Already took care of that first thing this morning. Now I actually get to kick back and listen to some records until my new GPU is delivered, and then I get to fuck off the rest of the weekend with new games because my wife says I can't do any yard work this weekend.
Only had the top two extracted because I was born without the bottoms I guess. But less pain on my wallet and my jaw, I'll happily trade in the narcotics they gave me and stick to my scotch.
Not a bad 3 day weekend in my book. Ill have to go back and figure out who/what broke the projection runner in the sandbox environment when I go back, but eh. that's a Monday problem now. 😎4 -
eBay's APIs make me want to cry.
Take the sandbox for example:
- Every time you log into a session, it logs you out.
- When you create an order (eventually!) and want to retrieve it, tough shit it doesn't feel like doing that today.
- Functionality both exists and doesn't exist at the same time on both the LIVE and Sandbox APIs. I don't know how they've managed to get quantum computers in their server room, but their GOD DAMN API LIBRARIES ARE NOT THE BEST USE CASE FOR QUANTUM COMPUTING!!
I don't know if I despise eBay or Magento more...undefined shit apis quantum computing i would like to poke my eyes out with a spoon wtf am i doing with my life ebay -
When you got burnt last time evaluating new software solution by skipping hands-on sandbox testing AND now doing it again!
-
tried fixing push notifications in an app I'm working on, only to find out at the end of the day that Apple's sandbox was down all day..
What a waste of my day -
Dear facebook/instagram
When in sandbox mode, please dont require https redirects, my localhost server has no concept of what an SSL cert is, its sandbox for a reason.5 -
I've been doing code reviews for my team and other teams for quite a while now, but for one particular project I only just realised that they have separate repositories for the actual website, and a sandbox version. They're both identical with the exception of the sandbox repository having sandbox classes. So basically any changes done to the main repository also has to be copied into the sandbox repository, and its all done manually.
So I went around asking why there are 2 repositories and I just kept getting the answer because one is main, the other is sandbox. I asked why aren't they just combined into a single repository since sandbox is based on a server environment but everyone keep saying they don't know.
Projects without any form of planning can be scary and/or a total clusterfuck. -
Firefox won't access iFrame's domain's Auth cookies when the iFrame is hosted on a 2nd domain, even when the cookies are Secore,SameSite=None, and sandbox is as lax as possible.
Works on chromium-based browsers.
Looked up SO and it's just "oh im facing the same" x10. FFS.
Why does Firefox behave so retarded. Not doing their shrinking userbase numbers any favour :v9 -
Anyone else bounce games and you become obsessed about how to play the game for weeks?
Playing a space sandbox and I want to figure out the economy system to crank in the dough. Any chance I get I am reading about how to build systems, stations, ships, etc to feed my economy in game. -
I just started playing terraria and holy shit, it puts minecraft to shame in so many aspects.
It actually makes you feel like the mc devs are some fucking lazy ass morons sitting on piles of cash.
Minecraft is 11 years old and it has 4 bosses and they are all underwhelming pieces of shit, jesus christ.
They can't even make mining fun for fucks sake. Work an half an hour or more to get a full set of diamond only to accidentally lose it to lava in the nether.
They added netherite? Holy shit I can't wait to see the new gear I can craft with it.
Pickaxe, axe, shovel, hoe, sword, helmet, chestplate, leggings, boots. Wow, netherite shovel, that's what the minecraft community needed.
How about an actual battle axe, knives? a baseball bat? Spells? Fucking something minecraft, come on, you can't just have 10 weapons man!
The lack of creative content and variety in minecraft is staggering. Adding a block of a different color and texture is not new content!!!
Also, fuck villagers and the sound they make and their faces. Worse character design ever. Not a single redeeming aspect. And fuck their trading system.
The trade system is horrible!!! One item at a time per character. No text from villagers. They don't have names!!!! They don't feel like villagers!!! They feel like robots!!!! Not a single one of them fights back!!!!! WHAT THE FUCK???? JUST ADD ONE THAT FIGHTS BACK YOU MORONS!!! NOT THAT WEIRD ASS GOLEM!!!
AND NO ONE GIVES TOO FUCKING SHITS ABOUT THE GOSSIP SYSTEM MC DEVS. NO OONEEEEE!!!
Terraria is not a perfect game, but it doesn't just try to be a good rpg, it actually is.
Meanwhile every 3d sandbox after minecraft will either be a filthy clone or not exist at all by fear of being labeled as such. Because of that I will keep on trashing on minecraft, even though I still play it a lot.11 -
My most hated term BY FAR is "In theory". It's a lousy-ass, weak excuse for not doing shit properly while distancing yourself from the problem. Short guide: "in theory" may be used prior to or following a statement in which you have little or no confidence in.
The web server shouldn't reach the database server "in theory", it fucking does or doesn't. The SQL cluster shouldn't "in theory" fail over to a working server in case of a hardware fault. Fuck off with your irresponsibility, man up and do things properly. This is the real world, not a sandbox for your shitty dorm room code1 -
Currently the only 3rd party tokenization VSCode supports is a massive pile of RegEx. There's a whole discussion about how procedural tokenization could be supported without running extension code in the UI thread. The central argument against delegating this to an external worker is that if the reply doesn't arrive fast enough it might interfere with characters typed later.
1. Any computer that can run VSCode can execute somewhere in the order of a _billion_ instructions per second. To a program, the delay between keystrokes is an eternity. The only way to run out of time here is if either the dev isn't aware that the request is time sensitive, or the framework communicates to the OS that the task isn't urgent and an arbitrary amount of work is scheduled before it.
2. Chromium is the pinnacle of cybersecurity and its primary job is to sandbox untrusted user code. You don't need another thread to do it.
3. This use case fits squarely in the original design objectives of Webassembly.2 -
So as it turns out, the redemption of client money has failed.
About £4k just sitting there.
I was doing testing earlier, and accidentally left the endpoint at sandbox, all of the payments failed, so we have to mock the payment in now, once we get internet back.1 -
mkdir ChuckTesta or MyTestProject or something similar.
I always like to use a sandbox beforehand to experiment with technologies and get familiar with them before committing to an actual project repo. -
TL;DR: Embedded software guy needs to create a multi-instance sandbox environment in Jenkins for testing and not sure what good solutions are out there. Looking for suggestions.
So at work, we have these really cool integration tests that validate our system for flight safety. What's not so cool is that due to factors outside of my control, each test has to be run serially and the entire test suite can take many many hours. This is mostly due to a hardware limitation (not enough physical NICs), but there are other SW factors as well.
What I would like to do is somehow be able to wrap up all the resources into a neat little package and then deploy that package into some kind of virtual environment that can be instantiated on a Jenkins job. The NIC issue would be replaced with a virtual one and *theoretically* I should be able to spawn as many instances of this virtual environment as my CPU and RAM can handle. In short, I want to pseudo parallelize our test suite and drive down our testing time. Somehow I would need to be able to control this entire thing from a script of some sort.
Does anyone know of something out there that would satisfy these kinds of requirements? Double internet points if it's open source. -
I need a help salesforce guys,
I am trying to automate Salesforce sandbox creation, then copying the client secret and key from an app and then use those credentials for some application.
Sandbox creation and deletion is done, but I am not able to get how should I fetch client credentials. I searched internet, and I only find gui method : login, select app, select view, get credentials.
At last I wrote a shitty selenium script but I don't have faith in this approach.
If anybody can give me insight, It would be great help.5 -
In final stage of vendor analysis review for new Enterprise Business Continuity tool. Teching out finalists now in sandbox. Will report analysis recap when completed.

UWP suck, I don't wanna hurt yall feeling but it's time to face the truths:
+ SandBox
+ Less Job Offer
+ Development more Complicated than Web App
+ Microsoft not create perfect hardware to make sure our app get to more consumers (the Pro X is failure)
+ Poor Optimized
Poor Optimized ?
the Windows 10 optimization is joke, all my surface laptop, pro, book I have tested. They claim that consume less Ram, but when using it along side electron and Win32 app. It feel so much choppy and lag. I mean WTF ?
UWP was made for optimize low specs SoC such as ARM base, now my laptop running on a core I5 + GPU still lag ??
I'm sorry but this is just sad. Im moving back to win32. WinRT sooner or later will end supported
And Microsoft will improve the Win32 Api6 -
Getting pissed off with eBay and Amazon APIs! eBay’s is completely screwed and the sandbox site doesn’t even work.
Amazon have great API’s but getting accounts to link and have the right permissions is a complete joke! -
Just found an interesting bit of AI for developers:

Tell it to create something...5 -
Just tried Min https://minbrowser.github.io/min/. Awesome fast, content blocker, easylist, clean as I like it, mounted config & cache to tmpfs. 🙂
Btw: why are the guys at brave.com won't fix this annoying bug https://github.com/brave/.... No sandbox, no brave. 😣 -
Sooo i made this program that uses both chromium but also is a rest server. (they need to be together for this program)
Soo the rest server requieres to be run with sudo
But the chromium Browser must not. It says must provide --no sandbox (to run as sudo)
so then i added --no sandbox
and it works like i wanted it.
However every application seems to be glitching sometimes (only ui) but no lag etc.
How can i stop it from glitching :0 i mean it does work though13 -
Spawn sandbox console
Make change for client (gui bugged) on Friday
Listen to complains after weekend why bug appeared again... -
I let my ML friend (great bloke, all the following shit giving is with love) use my chatgpt plus account so he could try gpt4, bc he thought “chatgpt” is “overhyped”. meanwhile I'm getting it to pump out 50 line pSQL trigger functions like it's a Tuesday. no flex its literally like ordering pancakes.
ana he logs in proceeds to get frustrated with it and says it's shit. somehow he managed to select gpt 3.5 instead of 4.
it took me showing him THIS USELESS example that basically has almost nothing to do with gpt 3.5->4 jump (plus get access to a sandbox, cool) for him to realize that wow maybe just maybe this ain't a major version bump -
Does anyone know a good termux equivilent for iOS. Or any sandbox terminal that has GCC, vim etc.?8
-
On pager duty. Getting alerts about New Relic synthetic monitors failing in prod. Freak out. Go to check them out...all of them are pointed at the uat sandbox, not prod.
I don't know how to feel about this. -
TL;DR warning!
Please help me out on this, fellow ranters:
I have a js app, a sandbox for musicians, which everyone is checking out once, then after fiddling around, they never really come back.
What can I do, to make an app more desirable, so that musicians would incorporate my tool into their musical repertoir?
One advice I've got from a friend is to save the session, like jsfiddle, so that the user can continue his/her work later and don't have to start all over.
If you want to check out my app, then the link is in my profile.3 -
Has anyone ever thought about making a command under linux and modifying the extfs and operating structure of the kernel to FORCE a programs invocation to ALWAYS be run by a specific user account so you can sandbox the command but allow its invocation by any user ?8
