Got called anti-social because I don't use social networks and rather talk to people.
I am not sure how to feel about this.18 -
"could you please just use the standard messaging/social networking thingies? That way it'll be way easier to communicate!!"
Oh I don't mind using standard tools/services which everyone uses at all.
Just a few requirement: they don't save information that doesn't need to be saved, leave the users in control of their data (through end to end encryption for example) and aren't integrated in mass surveillance networks.
Aaaaaand all the standard options which everyone uses are gone 😩30 -
Today was Mother's Day. Everybody was posting their photos with their mothers, so I had to stay away from social networks for today to not feel sad.
It's been almost a year without mine, really miss her.
I love her, and I never showed her how much. I've not been the best son a mother could have, I'm so sorry for that. She thought me how to be strong, she was the strongest, but I'm feeling so weak now without her.
Please never miss a chance to let your mother know how much you love her, give her a hug whenever you can, talk to her every time you need somebody to talk to, listen to her stories from when she was your age. She's the most precious person you'll ever have in your life. I realized that when it was too late, don't make my mistake.
I miss you mum ❤8 -
Day 1 10:00 am
Login to email account (Zimbra)
Your password is incorrect (I entered it correctly, this was a permanent issue ,used to happen in the company with many employees)
Reset your password by logging into internal company portal.
11:00 am
Logged into company portal, somehow. 2 Mbps internet shared among 104 people, you can imagine the speed.
Reset email password
* your password has been sent to your email id*
Are you fucking kidding me? U have emailed me the password to the same email I can't log in to?
Where did the architecture designer get this top notch weed from?
Day 2
Asked HR to reset my password (using a colleague's email)
Day 3
No reply from HR yet
Day 4
I went to meet HR, she's on vacation. So they have 1 person managing the password reset, for 5000 people with no backup person. Cool.
Day 5
Your internal company password has expired. Check your email for link to create new password. This is some next level shit going on.
Day 6
I called up Internal IT team to generate a new email for me.
They asked me to raise a ticket.
I can't raise a ticket because the only way to do so, is through the portal.
Day 7
Nothing. Btw, personal email and all social networks were banned. You can't even open stackoverflow.
And this was a research lab, amazing huh?
Day 8
Loss of pay for 4 days since I can't login to company portal to fill timesheet.
Day 9
HR comes back. Resets my password.
I try to generate my new password for portal.
The password policy:
Password can't be same as last 10 passwords
Passwords expire every week
8 characters minimum, 2 upper case, 2 lower case, NO SPECIAL SYMBOL. WTF. How long do u think its gonna take to crack that?
Fuckers had a company wise policy to automatically lock PC every 1 min if not used. Who the fuck can keep on using it continuously! I'm reading an article, and bam ! Locked. 2 wrong entries and that's it, repeat all steps again. Fuckers really didn't want to let me do my job, just keep on logging in all day.11 -
One colleague was that good, that he did the job of 3 people without bteaking a sweat...
He put up with shit from the client, where others would have gone on a killing spree.
One day he was blackmailed by a colleague and a project manager.
And then he had enough... This 100kg guy went kratos -spartan rage mode- yelled at all the guys who deserved it... Came to the office, where i was placed. We shook hands, he wished the other competent guys and me the best of luck and fare thee well...
Then there was an argument, which resulted in including lawyers between him and the company... He had to support us for 2 months in order to fulfill his contact... Which he did with as much detest as possible...
He didn't come into office once... Home-Office all the time...
We are still talking over social networks... Learned/learning a lot from him...
Aspecially not to take all the shit...1 -
Paranoid Developers - It's a long one
Backstory: I was a freelance web developer when I managed to land a place on a cyber security program with who I consider to be the world leaders in the field (details deliberately withheld; who's paranoid now?). Other than the basic security practices of web dev, my experience with Cyber was limited to the OU introduction course, so I was wholly unprepared for the level of, occasionally hysterical, paranoia that my fellow cohort seemed to perpetually live in. The following is a collection of stories from several of these people, because if I only wrote about one they would accuse me of providing too much data allowing an attacker to aggregate and steal their identity. They do use devrant so if you're reading this, know that I love you and that something is wrong with you.
That time when...
He wrote a social media network with end-to-end encryption before it was cool.
He wrote custom 64kb encryption for his academic HDD.
He removed the 3 HDD from his desktop and stored them in a safe, whenever he left the house.
He set up a pfsense virtualbox with a firewall policy to block the port the student monitoring software used (effectively rendering it useless and definitely in breach of the IT policy).
He used only hashes of passwords as passwords (which isn't actually good).
He kept a drill on the desk ready to destroy his HDD at a moments notice.
He started developing a device to drill through his HDD when he pushed a button. May or may not have finished it.
He set up a new email account for each individual online service.
He hosted a website from his own home server so he didn't have to host the files elsewhere (which is just awful for home network security).
He unplugged the home router and began scanning his devices and manually searching through the process list when his music stopped playing on the laptop several times (turns out he had a wobbly spacebar and the shaking washing machine provided enough jittering for a button press).
He brought his own privacy screen to work (remember, this is a security place, with like background checks and all sorts).
He gave his C programming coursework (a simple messaging program) 2048 bit encryption, which was not required.
He wrote a custom encryption for his other C programming coursework as well as writing out the enigma encryption because there was no library, again not required.
He bought a burner phone to visit the capital city.
He bought a burner phone whenever he left his hometown come to think of it.
He bought a smartphone online, wiped it and installed new firmware (it was Chinese; I'm not saying anything about the Chinese, you're the one thinking it).
He bought a smartphone and installed Kali Linux NetHunter so he could test WiFi networks he connected to before using them on his personal device.
(You might be noticing it's all he's. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't).
He ate a sim card.
He brought a balaclava to pentesting training (it was pretty meme).
He printed out his source code as a manual read-only method.
He made a rule on his academic email to block incoming mail from the academic body (to be fair this is a good spam policy).
He withdraws money from a different cashpoint everytime to avoid patterns in his behaviour (the irony).
He reported someone for hacking the centre's network when they built their own website for practice using XAMMP.
I'm going to stop there. I could tell you so many more stories about these guys, some about them being paranoid and some about the stupid antics Cyber Security and Information Assurance students get up to. Well done for making it this far. Hope you enjoyed it.

First rant...
So Here's a story of how I severely messed up my mental health trying to fit in university.
But the bonus: Found my passion.
Her we go,
Went to university thinking it'll be awesome to learn new stuff.
1st sem was pure shock - Programming was taught at the speed of V2 rockets.
Everything was centred around marks.
Wanted to get a good run in 2nd sem, started to learn Vector design, but RIP- Hospitalized for Staph infection, missed the whole sem and was in recovery for 3 months.
So asked uni for financial assistance as I had to re-register the courses the next semester. They flat out refused, not even in this serious of a case.
So, time to register courses for third semester, turns out most of the 2nd year courses are full, I had to take 3rd year courses like:
Social and Informational Networks
Human Computer Interaction
Image processing
And
Parallel and Distributed Computing (They had no prerequisites listed, for the cucks they are: BIG MISTAKE)
Turns out the first day of classes that I attend, the Image proc. teacher tells me that it's gonna be difficult for 2nd years so I drop it, as the PDC prof. also seconds that advice.
Time travel 2 months in: The PDC prof is a bitch, doesn't upload any notes at all and teaches like she's on Velocity-9 while treating this subject like a competition on who learns the most rather than helping everyone understand.
Doesn't let students talk to each other in lab even if one wants to clear their friend's doubt, "Do it on your own!" What the actual fuck?
Time for term end exams and project submission: Me and 3 seniors implement a Distributed File System in python and show it to her, she looks satisfied.
Project Results: Everyone else got 95/100
I got 76.
She's so prejudiced that she thinks that 2nd years must have been freeloaders while I put my ass on turbo for the whole sem, learning to code while tackling advanced concepts to the point that I hated to code.
I passed the course with a D grade.
People with zero consideration for others get absolutely zero respect from me.
Well it's safe to say that I went Nuclear(heh.. pun..) at this point, Mentally I was in such a bad place that I broke down.... Went into depression but didn't realise it.
But,
I met a senior in my HCI class that I did a project with, after which I discovered we had lots of similar interests.
We became good friends and started collaborating on design projects and video game prototyping.
Enter the 4th sem and holy mother of God did I got some bad bad profs....
Then it hit me
I have been here for two years, put myself through the meat grinder and tore my soul into shreds.
This Is Not Me
This Wont Be The End Of Me
I called up my sister in London and just vented all my emotions in front of her.
Relief.
Been a long time since I felt that.
I decided to go for what I truly feel passionate about: Game Design
So I am now trying to apply for Universities which have specialised courses for game design.
I've got my groove again, learnt to live again.
Learning C# now.
:)
It's been a long hello, and If you've reached till here somehow, then damn, you the MVP.
Peace.9 -
I've had a Twitter bot running for just over a year now. It's going to gain it's 6000th Follower at some point today.
I find it odd that an automated account I made has more Followers than all of my human accounts across all social networks combined - a lot more. I like to wonder about my bot Followers, how many of them are bots? How many of them are real and feel an actual connection with "me" and look forward to my Tweets, blissfully unaware that it's a bot?10 -
PORTFOLIO INFLATION
when every junior is writing algorithms, the next step up, the only way to keep up is writing apps. When every junior is writing apps, the next leg up is writing an entire SN.
Eventually junior full stack devs are writing microservice streaming cloud backend content delivery optimized social networks wrapped in virtualization with load balancing, proper CI, public accessible analytics apis, written in custom webaseembly compiled scripting backend utilizing both the latest graphql and every single feature of postgres, while also being a web site builder, an in browser app, mobile optimized, designed to transmogrify your asset pipelines linearflow functional-oriented modular rust cratified turbencabulator while cooking your turducken with CPU cycles, diffusing your gpt, and finetunning your llama 69 trillion parameter AI model to jerk you off all at the same time.
And then the title "wizard" becomes a reality as the void of meaning in our lives occupied by the anxiety of trying to reduce the fear of rejection in job hunting, is subsumed by the brief accidental glance into the cthulian madness-inducing yawning abyss of the future which is all the rest of our lives we have to endure existing for until at last sweet sweet death consumes us and we go to annihilation never having to configure one more framework or devops deploy of another virtual environment.
And it dawns on us that we no longer develop or write code at all. No, everything has become a "service" in this new hellscape future. We slowly come to the realization that every job is really just Costco greeter, or eventually going to be reduced to something equivalent, all human creativity, free will and emotions now taken care of by the automation while we manage the human aspects, like sardines pushing against one another not realizing their doom has been sealed along with the airless can they have been packed into, to be suffocated by circumstance and a system designed to reduce everything to a competition of metrics designed by the devil, if the metrics were misery", and "torture", while we ourselves are driven by this ratfuck wheel to turn endlessly toward social cannibalism, like rats eating their babies, but for the amusement of wallstreet corporate welfare whores who couldnt turn a dime if it wasnt already stolen.
And on our gravestones, those immortal words are carved, by the last person who gave up the ghost, the last whose soul wasnt yey shovelled onto the coal fires driving the content machine consuming the world:
Welcome to costco. I love you.10 -

I personally feel that most social networks like Facebook are a source of depression for this generation. It's a known fact that "instant gratification", as we call it, it's slowly destroying the mental health of young minds. Do you think devRant is slowly becoming something like that? I see people only posting memes, popular jokes, or self-praising posts these days (no offence). I truly love devRant for what it is, and I don't want it to become another generic social media platform (even though it's within the developer community) :(2 -
Another "prank" that I did at my school when I was 13:
Changed the password for the admin user with "net user *" and took control over alot of PC's in my school. I used that power to install keyloggers and then got alot of passwords for popular social networks that was popular that that time.
Always fun to upload picture ultrasound picture and write something, their parents would always go crazy.
And again, never got caught
(I starting to realize that I am a real asshole)2 -
so i'm new here. and i have to thank you guys/grils - this is so much better then any other social networks feed.
i love you <35 -
Help me write a properly considered article.Hi everyone!!! I am facing difficulties in the process of writing an article and decided to ask for your help. I hope that your support will help me to put my thoughts and ideas in order.I am trying to write an article on the topic "The impact of social networks on modern society "It is a relevant and interesting topic, but I have difficulties with formulating the main thoughts and structuring the material.2
-
One thing I wanted to say here before:
The more the community of DevRant grows, the more "repeated" posts it will have. It's totally usual on social networks when they start to grow.
So, instead of saying bad things to people who post the same stuff, just ignore it and keep the community growing. :)2 -
Why have the majority of social networks decided that people using their service in the most basic way deserves a notification?
"Ooh, I have 3 notifications according to the app icon, they must be things that need my attention."
<opens app>
* In case you missed DickSlap's [tweet/post/other]
* RomanHelmet liked a [tweet/post/other] from SpaffMuncher
* MuffSnapper added a new photo
Why does that need a notification? That's just users using your app. That's what I expect when I open the app. I expect to see people posting things. This is going to make me start ignoring notifications in the same way I ignore emails marked as urgent.8 -
F*cking morons complaining of privacy yet busy posting practically everything from pictures to finger prints and weird f*cking full details on social networks and some weird online places and platforms...😑🤕😤😤😤 (best safety, never go online)4

!rant ✓devrant-meetup
Met @condor irl today. He's the same weird guy as I feel at moments. Interests that don't interest people around us in any way..
Drank some beers, evidently called Belgium.
He came all the way to the town I work at.. kudos!
Talked about breadboards taking 230V via cables that aren't meant to take the voltage in any way.. Security implications in networks and online services, like Fb. Faraday's cage & how it works; and some other shit I swear I won't tell anyone about as you should be comfortable discussing it.
Quite interesting, I swear! (:
Now on the bus home, as I had to cut it short to get to some parental business... But I'm looking back on some positive social interaction, which I'll gladly re-do another time.
Condor, it was sure nice to meet ya. I'll come your way next time. That ~10eu for your transport will be equalled some day in the near future.
@FunkDelegate sorry it was badly timed and plaved, you'll join us soon enough! At least you saw decent ass! xD3 -
It was more of "Hate story" with a guy whose mere presence would irritate me very much. He was also close to the girl I liked a bit (not very huge crush or something).
So he was very active on two of his social networks one being fb and second directly connected to fb so basically getting hold of fb would mean that I could control his other one too.
It was Oct 2016 and that time you could easily hack an account using social hacking (not asking OTP out something mere details did it for few accounts).
I hacked his account and wrote curse words and all. As I had already changed the email and password, he couldn't till date retrieve it.
However as he reported to fb, his account was held and I could no longer access it but till then everything was over.
I couldn't still spot him on FB or the other social network.
And this was one of the most evil act I have performed in my life.1 -
Years ago I was working in local cinema as a student job from time to time and used to sleep after shifts at my uncle's. Uncle did not had internet but there were so many wlans all around. Since I had nothing to do for hours after shift, I downloaded Backtrack linux at home, made live dvd of it and saved a two articles of "how to hack wifi" to text files.
It took me 4 hours to break WEP, since I was total lame, and it was the only one WEP around. They also had mac restrictions set to router, so I changed my mac address to one of their devices, logged in to router and added our mac address. For my uncle it was complete magic but since he is total geek to linux he liked it.
Fast forward weeks later. When I came to my uncle's house he was downloading like ton of linux distributions. Literally each one. Gigabytes of data. I told him not to do so because sooner or later neighbour will notice, but he did not care. Guess what, he notices, probably slow internet and (maybe) bigger bills, I do not know, but owner just changed protocol to WPA2, not changing password. So the story continued for almost 2 years. Felt a bit sorry for neighbour but did not expect such an outcome. I just wanted to watch youtube videos and scroll social networks, keeping low profile so no one notice.1 -
There should be one day a year when random spam emails become true when you click on them.
It should be random for everyone so you never know what day it is and also happen instantly when you click on message.
World would be full of millionaires, guys with enormous penises. Everyone will eat food all the time cause you can lose all of your unnecessary weight with single click and whole internet will flood with spam emails.
Instead of scrolling trough news and social networks people would click on spam emails waiting for the day their spam will be fulfilled.
Economy would eventually collapse and most of us would be no different than monkey in some crazy experiment waiting for it’s banana.
It can be called fulfilled spam message paradox.
It would be funny alternative reality.3 -
I remember when Android brought new innovative functionality and the play store offered hundreds of apps to customize your phone and so on. (Compared to my previous phone)
Now I feel like every new version, if it's Android or iOS, just adapts more to fit the common user. The apps I mentioned still exist but the store offers your trends that - yea, suck (hello social networks)! It's not a phone with new features anymore but a phone that's better for fucking braindeads. And I dislike that. I am not the common user.6 -
So our country has fallen into a state of emergency. Access to most popular social networks and messaging apps have been blocked or restricted.
9 -
I wish people expressed more nuance in their opinions. However, online social networks are often not built to encourage nuance, and I feel like most people take nuance for a lack of self-confidence which they take in turn for a lack of authority.11
-
Go outside and make some friends.
Buy a bike and go for a tour maybe.
Gonna stay away from screen for a little and tryna be a little social without social networks.1 -
I feel kind of useless. Since I quitted F.I.T. The only reason to look on my mobile phone now is to check devRant...
So much time. You only realize when you're gone.2 -
Do we have, as developers, some social networks, that could help us to find a companions for developing apps. I don't mean such things like GitHub, where we operate with Open Source software. But, for example, I have an idea, but I'm alone and need more developers to implement this idea. So I need to find those guys who wouldbe ready to join me. Do we have such a communities? Don't you know?2

Linkedin is known from displaying invasive corporate advertisements like join our cloud, and other picture title shit.
But it got worse.
From January I am invaded by contribute to this article crap and get some badge. Powered by some artificial intelligence shit.
From about a month or so I am seeing lots of suggestions on linkedin wall that look like content written by bots, and the posts are from real people, well morons from FAANG started showing up with their generated spam but that’s not all.
This week I started getting job offers that look like are written by chatgpt and not a real people. When I reply to this offer that it looks like it’s not from real person I am ghosted.
Those job offers are like 3 a day and I those are not only contacts but mostly a direct messages from premium account that costs 1000$ per month or more.
I feel like I’m in real world matrix.
But that’s not all.
I see lots of recriuters from my contact list are getting fired and looking for new job.
But that’s not all bitches !!!
I sometimes reply to some CEO and they delete posts and invite me to contacts just to ghost me.
I feel so disconnected I started to think all those people are all only bots and I am last living - real person that is not using AI to write something.
I think microsoft finally managed to kill this cash cow with their obsession about AI. Corporate shit is killing every good platform.
Hope for fediverse to take off with some news websites thinking about integration with fediverse.
Help me obi P2P nobi you’re my last torrent hope.
If p2p social networks won’t take off now it would be dead end.9 -
So I've identified a key demographic that's excluded from social networks, by their very definition.
Misanthropes.
Misanthropic individuals need their own little area of the internet too.
I propose "MySpaceNowFuckOff.com" although this would probably result in a protracted legal battle. I'm open to name changes.
It would be a site for socialising with others like you, who don't actually want to socialize, where you don't get "likes" you get "disinterested acknowledgement", there isn't a share button but a "shame this idiot" button. And you don't have friends but a list of "people who haven't pissed me off... yet". -
Anyone on open source social networks? E.g Diaspora* and Mastodon.
I'm diving deep down the Freedom rabbit hole. It's a whole new world.3 -
Officially banned from 3 social networks. Reddit, Facebook, X.
I don't really mind but
I might need a neural link to moderate my thoughts before letting people know how idiotic their posts are.23 -
I usually avoid procrastination by turning off my phone, not going on social networks or YouTube and by setting some goals to achieve in a day.

Rant!
When senior dev's or successful startup founders ask me to shift from Open-sourcing my Projects and start making revenue, it gets me very awkward and uncomfortable with myself.
Their argument is Opensource won't feed you unless you're linus torvald, I understand their point however it's irritating that public good isn't a mode of income.
Watching Jobs and Social Networks gets me similarly worked up.People disregarding companions of their journey as they choose money over friendship.
It sure is a cruel world. I'm not sure if i ever will be compatible with it. -
Hey just brainstorming a business/ startup idea I may try out sometime down the line. I wanted to put it in writing available to my peers for review. If that sounds boring, sorry.
So I've had an idea and I know it's a million dollar idea because it's absolutely boring as fuck.
Recently I have been learning about NoSQL and it has gotten me pretty excited about unstructured data.
Now the first thing you should know about me is I like to make business software. I don't like games or social networks or blah blah blah, I like business stuff. One dream I have always had is to make THE business solution. I've noticed so many specific business solutions for very specific areas of work. Specific software for car washes, which is separate from the software for car maintenance, which is separate from the point-of-sales software, which is separate from the [...]
One of the problems with this is the inconsistency. Modular is good, but only if the modules are compatible. They aren't. Training needs to be provided for each individual system since they are all vastly different. And worst of all, since all of these different applications reach their own niche market, they charge out the butt for things that are usually very simple "POST a form over http(s)" machines.
I mean let's not get too dreamy here. My solution is an over-complicated form-builder. But it would be a game-changer for small and medium-sized businesses. Allowing users to build their own front-end and back-end disguised as a drag-and-drop form builder would be THE alternative, because they could bring all of their solutions into a single solution (one bill!) and since THEY are the ones that build what they need, they can have custom business software for the price of a spreadsheet program.
The price difference we could offer would be IMMENSE. Not only would we be able to offer "cookie-cutter" pricing as opposed to "custom" pricing, but since this generic solution could be used for essentially all of their systems, we aren't just decreasing one bill. We're decreasing one bill, and eliminating the rest entirely. We could devastate competition.
"BUT ALGO", you scream in despair, "USERS AREN'T SMART ENOUGH TO DRAG AND DROP FORM PARTS TO MAKE A FORM"
I mean ya true. But you say that like it's a bad thing. For one, we can just offer a huge library of templates. And for another, which is part of the business plan, we can charge people support dollars to help them drag and drop their stupid fucking forms!! Think of the MONEEYYYY YOU COULD MAKEE BY EXPLAINING HOW TO COLLECT FIRST AND LAST NAMEEE. Fuck.
The controls library would be extensible of course. You would be able to download different, more specialized controls if you need them. But the goal would be to satsify those needs with the standard collection of controls (Including interesting ones line barcode scanner and signature input and all that). But if all else fails, maybe someone made an open source control for you to implement and ignore that stupid donation button. We all do.
This could PURGE the world of overpriced and junky specialized business software, and best of all, it's aimed at smaller businesses. With smaller businesses making more profit, they will stay afloat better and may start to compete with their larger foes. Greater for the entire economy.
Anyways, I'm sure it's full of holes. Everything always is. But I still think it's something I'll try before I die.24 -
Product Owner (PO) the problem with this sharing widget it loads slow and people might scroll past it.
Me: ok. Let's make it fixed on the side of the page so that it's always seen, but not intrusive.
PO: No. It's not how the brand should look. And it might cover 1% of the skin ad. Let's make our own widget.
Me: that would require to create several apps on social networks and maintain the code internally instead of using a centralised service that many people already provide. You don't have the money for that.
PO: sorry I got distracted by this bird outside the window.8 -
I don't know how many of you have faced this but fuck college student entrepreneurs!
Every one of these fuckers is all about the hustle and the grind which mainly involves them sitting on their ass and approaching me with ideas that they think will revolutionize the world
AND WHY'RE ALL YOUR IDEAS CENTERED AROUND SOCIAL NETWORKS? DO I LOOK LIKE FREAKIN ZUCKERBERG (I probably bombed the spelling but IDC)
I decided to work on a project (can't disclose any information cause the idiot had me sign a paper or some shit) and they gave me and 2 other devs a task of creating FUCKING ANGELLIST
look man, could be an easy task for your "business team" of 7 to give that task but do you really expect me to work with 2 loud mouthed freshmen who don't know shit and give you a finished product? I DONT THINK SO -
Is this so different from tech startup presentation?
Our revolutionary platform leverages next-gen AI, decentralized blockchain orchestration, and hyper-scalable cloud-native microservices to synergize collective intelligence and unlock a paradigm shift in human potential. By gamifying sustainability through tokenized social impact layers and deploying frictionless API integrations across Web3 ecosystems, we’re not just disrupting legacy infrastructures—we’re architecting a regenerative future. Our mission-driven, community-centric, and data-sovereign approach empowers Gen Z digital natives to co-create resilient value networks that transcend borders, democratize innovation, and ultimately save humanity from systemic collapse.

Let's all flock to facebook's (I'm sorry, META's) latest application, forgetting all the trouble they've had about privacy breaches and the selling of customer data and other shady shit.
Sounds like a wonderful idea.
And give that company even more of a monopoly over the internet. Communication? Whatsapp and facebook messgenger. Social Networks? Facebook and Instagram.
I understand not giving a shit if you do not have a background in tech but come on. Learn to live without twitter you internet addicted dumb fucks3 -
How I wish I can download and reuse my devRant avatar on other social networks. Even make a sticker out of it too!3
-
I am unable to see anything useful in current social networks. It all looks like big advertising platforms and I am not interested in looking on ads. This personalization is so shitty that original content is very hard to find. All is so political correct and trendy and what about uniqueness of human individuals. Shitty socialists networks. Hope this website would not be another one.5

So tired of app developers localizing app information with Google Translate. Use a real person that can READ AND WRITE IN THE FUCKING FOREIGN LANGUAGE or scrap the entire translation and do marketing in English. And Google? Why the fuck do you allow people to embarrass themselves by providing machine translated SHIT in the Store Listing options?
Some gems found on Google Play Store, translated from Norwegian to English the way I as Norwegian interpret them.

Have you all ever had an hypocondriac colleague? Like, the kind of colleague that will freak out everytime something minor isn't exactly as in his plans?
I have this colleague that DID freak out because, while making the integration of some website's footer, I set the SCSS for the social networks inside a "footer.scss" instead of "social-medias.scss". Dude even called the project manager to ask him about how he should handle that.
So, I had to go behind that colleague's chair and make him copy line by line the SCSS that was in the "wrong" file to put it in the right file. Why line by line, you may ask? Because I had to explain him why and how each of these lines were required to match what was asked in the models.
Not to mention how he freaked out because I (wrongfully, ok) used "fill" instead of "color" to change an SVG's color.
Keep it simple, stupid.7 -
I'm currently having a problems sleeping my inner philosopher just keeps thinking about various things. I wanna try to write some of them down as an simply to see what will happen.
I'll write my opinion down as honest as possible so feel free to disagree, but point out what I should rethink, if you want me to consider it.
To me respect has to be earned. I think especially on the internet many people try to skip this crucial step when they try to get respect. Most often when they want an opinion or their ideals to be respected. Most of the time it doesn't even feel like they want to be respected, but rather accepted.
There's nothing wrong with accepted in my opinion, but there are several approaches to get to this point and I despise some of them.
Earning acceptance by earning respect is one of the right ways to do it. Working hard towards your goals, showing your individual strength, standing behind your ideals. These are things I can respect.
I should also mention that these Ideals should be concrete, based on rational thought and a general good will or you will just twist my words to say that I support e.g. IS, Stalin's politics ect.
On a side node, I think it'd be wrong to disrespect everything Stalin did, since, from an economical point of view, he pushed Russia forward by quite a bit.
Then on the other side I see crybabies. People who want to be accepted, without putting effort in their ideals. Most of the time not even aiming for acceptance through respect, but through pity. Honestly, that's all they're going to get from me.
Pity, for their petty ideals.
Basically all I ever see these people doing is attention whoring and practicing multiple deadly sins at once.
Wrath, jealousy, sloth, pride, greed and optionally also gluttony.
Lust is rather a separate package. When I think about it, I link it mostly to horny teens and "send bob and vegane" type of stuff.
Gluttony being powered by sloth or vice versa, enhancing it.
The clear image I have in mind, while I write about this packages of deadly sins however, is that of a jealous person, complaining / getting angry about something they could change change themselves, but want them to be changed for them. Mostly through social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and whatever the fuck Tumblr is supposed to be.
"I wanna be rich, why is <person> richt but I'm not? This world is so unfair 😡". Have you tried working towards becoming rich?
"I don't don't feel pretty. Accept me". Accept yourself. Done.
"I don't like <person or organization>'s doing". If that's the whole message, all you probably did so far is complaining or crying. Sweet tears.
Stuff like that can happen to any person, just like any person makes mistakes.
Mistakes are made to learn from them. If you realize realize and accept your mistakes others may do so as well and forgive you.
But we are he towards this idiotic trend where people just can swallow their pride even for microscopic things. They instead push their pride to higher levels of ignorance, blaming other people, l(ying)mfao, creating black holes of density in the process. Makes me wonder whether their real motive is an inside bet on who can get the most people to kill them selves by face palming.
Most of my life I have been fairly protected against these people, besides some spikes of incompetence, but recently the have invaded 2 areas in my world that make the world somewhat less of a pain. Programming and the internet culture.
Yes, I'm talking about that master / slave BS renaming and article 11 and 13.
The remaking itself isn't really the problem, but rather the context. This was basically a show of power for the self proclaimed "social justice warriors" or SJW for short.
The fact that this madness has spread. That's what worries me. To me it feels like the first zombie has spawned.
Then we have this corrupted piece of incompetent shit, called Axel Voss, and other old farts.
They live in a galaxy far away from reality, somewhere in the European Parlament, making laws they don't know shit about, regulating things they know shit about.
All in the name of the people of the EU of course. And by people we obviously talk about the money.
I can honestly not think of another reason, after reading the replies Voss and his party gave on Twitter regarding the shit they pulled off.
Well, at least none that doesn't involve some firm of brain death.
For now I'll show them as much as possible how much I despise / reject them. Currently playing with the thought of some kind (social media?) website were posts from other sites or actions in general can be rated only with "Fuck you"s.
Given these articles, I should not have them hosted in an European country though 😅.

Hi guys! We are still searching for another dev to join our team for the hackathon hosted by Deutsche Bank in Berlin (late october). We're currently a team of 2: @ginjikoibito as iOS-/Backend-Dev and me as Designer.
So far the idea we want to apply with goes in this direction: Real-time evaluation of social structures through analyzing wealth & transactions provided by anonymized user-data of the API. It will also incorporate recognizable networks between users.
Sounds interesting? Please leave a comment, we're happy to share more with you :-)2 -
Have any of you fin devs out there on the interwebs had any experience with building social networks using `Stream`??
I am looking into their API for use in a golang project of mine but I am unsure about a few things...
1. Reliability
2. Scalability and the cost of it
3. General API quality, in Golang specifically but any comments are great.
It's a stretch I'm sure but if there was a place that folks would know it would be here @ devRant1 -
Even though I am only 19, I got introduced to computers pretty late. We always had an old Win98 machine in our house and when I was 8 my dad introduced me to Command & Conquer on it. And the first contact I had with the internet (which I really didn't care about until then) was when social networks became a thing at school, that was around 2010, when I was 11-12.

I want you all to take a little read at this.
I'm going to use the power of internet and social networks to say the MOST truthly fact that you are going to read in your entire life. Here we go:
Java is to JavaScript as much as Car is to Carpet.
Thank you for you attention.

Is any of it real? I mean, look at this. Look at it! A world built on fantasy. Synthetic emotions in the form of pills. Psychological warfare in the form of advertising. Mind-altering chemicals in the form of... food! Brainwashing seminars in the form of media. Controlled isolated bubbles in the form of social networks. Real? You want to talk about reality? We haven't lived in anything remotely close to it since the turn of the century. We turned it off, took out the batteries, snacked on a bag of GMOs while we tossed the remnants in the ever-expanding Dumpster of the human condition. We live in branded houses trademarked by corporations built on bipolar numbers jumping up and down on digital displays, hypnotizing us into the biggest slumber mankind has ever seen. You have to dig pretty deep, kiddo, before you can find anything real. We live in a kingdom of bullshit. A kingdom you've lived in for far too long. So don't tell me about not being real. I'm no less real than the fucking beef patty in your Big Mac.3

I starting developing my skills to a pro level from 1 year and half from now. My skillset is focused on Backend Development + Data Science(Specially Deep Learning), some sort of Machine Learning Engineer. I fill my github with personal projects the last 5 months, and im currently working on a very exciting project that involves all of my skills, its about Developing and deploy a Deep Learning Model for Image Deblurring.
I started to look for work two months to now. I applied to dozens of jobs at startups, no response. I changed my strategy a bit, focusing on early stage startups that dont have infinite money for pay all that senior devs, nothing, not even that startups wish to have me in their teams. I even applied to 2 or 3 and claim to do the job for little payment, arguing im not going for money but experience, nothing. I never got a reply back, not an interview, the few that reach back(like 3, from 3 or 4 dozen of startups), was just for say their are not interested on me.
This is frustrating, what i do on my days is just push forward my personal projects without rest. I will be broke in a few months from now if i dont get a job, im still young, i have 21 years, but i dont have economic support from parents anymore(they are already broke). Truly dont know what to do. Currently my brother is helping me with the money, but he will broke in few months as i say.
The worst of all this case is that i feel capable of get things done, i have skills and i trust in myself. This is not about me having doubts about my skills, but about startups that dont care, they are not interested in me, and the other worst thing is that my profile is in high demand, at least on startups, they always seek for backend devs with Machine Learning knowledge. Im nothing for them, i only want to land that first job, but seems to be impossible.
For add to this situation, im from south america, Venezuela, and im only able to get a remote job, because in my country basically has no Tech Industry, just Agencies everywhere underpaying devs, that as extent, dont care about my profile too!!! this is ridiculous, not even that almost dead Agencies that contract devs for very little payment in my country are interested in me! As extra, my economic situation dont allows me to reallocate, i simple cant afford that. planning to do it, but after land some job for a few months. Anyways coronavirus seems to finally set remote work as the default, maybe this is not a huge factor right now.
I try to find job as freelancer, i check the freelancer sites(Freelancer, Guru and so on) every week more or less, but at least from what i see, there is no Backend-Only gigs for Python Devs, They always ask for Fullstack developers, and Machine Learning gigs i dont even mention them.
Maybe im missing something obvious, but feel incredible that someone that has skills is not capable of land even a freelancer job. Maybe im blind, or maybe im asking too much(I feel the latter is not the case). Or maybe im overestimating my self? i think around that time to time, but is not possible, i have knowledge of Rest/GraphQL APIs Development using frameworks like Flask or DJango(But i like Flask more than DJango, i feel awesome with its microframework approach). Familiarized with containerization and Docker. I can mention knowledge about SQL and DBs(PostgreSQL), ORMs(SQLAlchemy), Open Auth, CI/CD, Unit Testing, Git, Soft DevOps Skills, Design Patterns like MVC or MTV, Serverless Environments, Deep Learning Solutions, end to end: Data Gathering, Preprocessing, Data Analysis, Model Architecture Design, Training and Finetunning. Im familiarized with SotA techniques widely used now days, GANs, Transformers, Residual Networks, U-Nets, Sequence Data, Image Data or high Dimensional Data, Data Augmentation, Regularization, Dropout, All kind of loss functions and Non Linear functions. My toolset is based around Python, with Tensorflow as the main framework, supported by other libraries like pandas, numpy and other Data Science oriented utils.
I know lot of stuff, is not that enough for get a Junior Level underpaid job? truly dont get it, what is required for get a job? not even enough for get an interview?
I have some dev friends and everyone seems to be able to land jobs, why im not landing even an interview?
I will keep pushing my Dev career, is that or starve to death. But i will love to read your suggestions! how i can approach this?
i will leave here my relevant social presence:

I love what I do, I love designing and building well-crafted software, and so it eats up a lot of my time.
I constantly remind myself that, while being a software developer is a good profession, it is not enough for me. I am focused on building products that offer real value, in return for money. Because, capitalism...
I remind myself that money doesn’t raise itself, technically-excellent networks full of possible partners and employees don’t build themselves either.
Therefore, I force myself to go be social from time to time.
But it is a struggle, that I don’t do a good enough job with! So I’m going to do better this summer -
So I observed that my screen time was slowly increasing in past few weeks. This was mainly because there wasn't much to do staying at home and I was simply switching between phone and laptop continuously which was increasing my eye strain. Fed up of this never ending cycle I decided yesterday to log out of all social networks and only see all the social updates only once a day.
Let's hope this gradually decreases my screen time and eye strain too... -
Working on personal projects feels really great after not having any time for them. My discipline is a mess for working on other peoples projects, no motivation and i keep dragging myself around, social networks have been consuming my productivity like a brainslug, mainly youtube.

This write-up is solely based upon the authenticity and efficiency of monitoring apps, it's quite obvious there are many malicious and dubious apps and reviews that are under the guise of being real. The best and less tedious way to see who your partner is texting or calling is by using dedicated monitoring apps created by people like Kingston (Kingston @ cyber-wizard. com). These apps make it easy to track incoming and outgoing texts and calls on your partner’s phone without them ever knowing you're doing so.
These apps are designed to be completely undetectable, meaning that even if someone checks their phone for suspicious activity, they won't be able to spot the monitoring app running in the background. One of the benefits you would fancy the most about the monitoring app it's ability to access your partner's text messages and call logs on all social networks. Isn't that cool? you should give it a trial like I did without any regrets!3 -
Omg why are social cards so hard to debug? Did no one think of such obscure techniques as local debugging? And why doesn't Twitter show me the error message? It's the same code for fuck sake! It works with one article but not with another. There MUST be some very exact problem with one of my images, but Twitter just doesn't fucking give me a proper log.1

[Shameless plug coming through - If your a curious developer keep reading]
After feeling like I was loosing so much time curating my way through blogs, social networks, and community forums to keep up with the latest programming news, I decided to create a side project to scratch my own itch. (Typical developer history XD)
The website is called StackTrender and it's basically a programming news aggregation that consumes articles from the web and curates them in terms of engagement (votes/likes, comments and social shares) to remove the "less interesting" articles and generate an easier to read news feed.
It's still a work in progress but, if you somehow related to my situation, feel free to take a look and comment with some feedback.
Thanks in advance.

BEST CRYPTO RECOVERY EXPERT TO RECOVER SCAMMED CRYPTO-VISIT RAPID DIGITAL RECOVERY
As a college student in California, it’s not uncommon to hear about the latest investment opportunities or tips on how to make money in the cryptocurrency world. However, like many of my peers, I recently learned the hard way how easily scams can target people who are unfamiliar with the risks. It all started when a fellow student posted on social media about a seemingly legitimate investment opportunity involving Bitcoin. The post was persuasive, offering high returns with minimal risk, and naturally, a few of us, myself included, jumped on the chance to invest. Sadly, the investment turned out to be a scam, and I, along with a few others, found ourselves with our Bitcoin stolen. It’s a frustrating and helpless feeling, especially when you realize how much you’ve lost. After some research and frantic searching for solutions, I came across Rapid Digital Recovery a cryptocurrency recovery service that seemed like it might be able to help. The service specializes in recovering stolen digital assets, including Bitcoin, using advanced forensic methods. From what I gathered, their team consists of experts who track fraudulent transactions and trace stolen funds across blockchain networks, which gave me some hope that my investment could be recovered. What stood out to me about Rapid Digital Recovery was their approach to each case. They don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach; instead, they tailor their recovery strategies based on the specific details of the scam. This personalized approach is critical, especially in cases where the stolen cryptocurrency has been moved across multiple wallets or exchanges. Their team also offers guidance on improving security, which is something that, in hindsight, could have saved me from falling for the scam in the first place. While I was initially skeptical about turning to a recovery service, Rapid Digital Recovery’s transparency helped alleviate some of my concerns. They kept me updated throughout the process and were patient in answering all of my questions. However, I quickly realized that, like any service in the crypto space, it’s essential to proceed with caution. Scams are rampant in this industry, and it’s always important to thoroughly vet any service before sharing sensitive information. In the end, while I’m still in the process of recovering my lost Bitcoin, I’ve learned an invaluable lesson about the risks involved in cryptocurrency investments. If you ever find yourself in a similar situation, Rapid Digital Recovery might be worth considering, but remember to do your own research and take steps to ensure you’re working with Rapid Digital recovery.

Do you use social networks?
What do you think, how important is social marketing for active users of social networks. For those who may not know, social marketing is the promotion of your page, blog, in various kinds of social media. For example, I am an active user of YouTube. I have a dream, 1 million subscribers. But starting was not easy at all. It is very difficult to break through the routine of thousands of other small channels. The guys from https://videosgrow.com/free-youtube... helped me in this. Now I’m half way to my dream, I have about 500 thousand subscribers, which I am undoubtedly glad.1 -
The Turing Test, a concept introduced by Alan Turing in 1950, has been a foundation concept for evaluating a machine's ability to exhibit human-like intelligence. But as we edge closer to the singularity—the point where artificial intelligence surpasses human intelligence—a new, perhaps unsettling question comes to the fore: Are we humans ready for the Turing Test's inverse? Unlike Turing's original proposition where machines strive to become indistinguishable from humans, the Inverse Turing Test ponders whether the complex, multi-dimensional realities generated by AI can be rendered palatable or even comprehensible to human cognition. This discourse goes beyond mere philosophical debate; it directly impacts the future trajectory of human-machine symbiosis.
Artificial intelligence has been advancing at an exponential pace, far outstripping Moore's Law. From Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) that create life-like images to quantum computing that solve problems unfathomable to classical computers, the AI universe is a sprawling expanse of complexity. What's more compelling is that these machine-constructed worlds aren't confined to academic circles. They permeate every facet of our lives—be it medicine, finance, or even social dynamics. And so, an existential conundrum arises: Will there come a point where these AI-created outputs become so labyrinthine that they are beyond the cognitive reach of the average human?
The Human-AI Cognitive Disconnection
As we look closer into the interplay between humans and AI-created realities, the phenomenon of cognitive disconnection becomes increasingly salient, perhaps even a bit uncomfortable. This disconnection is not confined to esoteric, high-level computational processes; it's pervasive in our everyday life. Take, for instance, the experience of driving a car. Most people can operate a vehicle without understanding the intricacies of its internal combustion engine, transmission mechanics, or even its embedded software. Similarly, when boarding an airplane, passengers trust that they'll arrive at their destination safely, yet most have little to no understanding of aerodynamics, jet propulsion, or air traffic control systems. In both scenarios, individuals navigate a reality facilitated by complex systems they don't fully understand. Simply put, we just enjoy the ride.
However, this is emblematic of a larger issue—the uncritical trust we place in machines and algorithms, often without understanding the implications or mechanics. Imagine if, in the future, these systems become exponentially more complex, driven by AI algorithms that even experts struggle to comprehend. Where does that leave the average individual? In such a future, not only are we passengers in cars or planes, but we also become passengers in a reality steered by artificial intelligence—a reality we may neither fully grasp nor control. This raises serious questions about agency, autonomy, and oversight, especially as AI technologies continue to weave themselves into the fabric of our existence.
The Illusion of Reality
To adequately explore the intricate issue of human-AI cognitive disconnection, let's journey through the corridors of metaphysics and epistemology, where the concept of reality itself is under scrutiny. Humans have always been limited by their biological faculties—our senses can only perceive a sliver of the electromagnetic spectrum, our ears can hear only a fraction of the vibrations in the air, and our cognitive powers are constrained by the limitations of our neural architecture. In this context, what we term "reality" is in essence a constructed narrative, meticulously assembled by our senses and brain as a way to make sense of the world around us. Philosophers have argued that our perception of reality is akin to a "user interface," evolved to guide us through the complexities of the world, rather than to reveal its ultimate nature. But now, we find ourselves in a new (contrived) techno-reality.
Artificial intelligence brings forth the potential for a new layer of reality, one that is stitched together not by biological neurons but by algorithms and silicon chips. As AI starts to create complex simulations, predictive models, or even whole virtual worlds, one has to ask: Are these AI-constructed realities an extension of the "grand illusion" that we're already living in? Or do they represent a departure, an entirely new plane of existence that demands its own set of sensory and cognitive tools for comprehension? The metaphorical veil between humans and the universe has historically been made of biological fabric, so to speak.7 -
Discover the Power of Digital Marketing Headhunters for Your Hiring Needs
In today’s fast-paced digital landscape, finding the right talent for your marketing team is more critical than ever. Whether you’re a growing startup or an established business, you know that digital marketing plays a pivotal role in driving growth. But when it comes to filling marketing positions with the right people, the process can be daunting. Digital marketing is a complex field that requires a unique set of skills, and often, traditional hiring methods fall short. This is where digital marketing headhunters come in, offering a specialized approach to recruiting the best talent.
Why Traditional Hiring Methods Fall Short
Hiring for digital marketing positions can be challenging because the industry is evolving rapidly. The roles and skills needed today can differ greatly from those of just a few years ago. From SEO experts to social media strategists, the market is filled with diverse specializations, making it difficult to know exactly who will fit into your team. This is where relying on traditional recruitment methods, such as generic job postings or internal referrals, can result in hiring someone who isn’t the right match for your business’s specific needs.
Even if you’re able to find a few candidates with relevant experience, assessing whether they’re the perfect fit for your team can still be a challenge. Digital marketing requires a blend of creativity, technical expertise, and the ability to adapt quickly to new trends and technologies. Standard hiring processes often fail to identify these nuanced traits.
How Digital Marketing Headhunters Can Help
This is where digital marketing headhunters truly shine. These professionals specialize in recruiting for the digital marketing space and have the experience and networks to find the top talent you need. What sets them apart from traditional recruiters is their deep understanding of the digital marketing industry. They not only know what skills are essential but also have access to a pool of highly qualified candidates, including those who might not be actively job-hunting but are open to the right opportunity.
Digital marketing headhunters offer a consultative approach to recruitment. They take the time to understand your business, your team’s culture, and the specific challenges you’re facing. This allows them to find candidates who don’t just have the right skills on paper, but also align with your company’s goals and values. Whether you’re looking for someone with expertise in content strategy, SEO, paid media, or analytics, a headhunter can quickly connect you with the right person.
One of the greatest advantages of working with headhunters is that they can also help streamline the hiring process. Instead of sorting through hundreds of resumes, you’ll receive a curated list of candidates who are already vetted and have the skills you’re looking for. This saves you time, money, and energy, allowing you to focus on running your business rather than getting bogged down in the hiring process.
Why Choose Us?
When you partner with us, you gain access to a team of experienced professionals who understand the nuances of the digital marketing world. We are committed to finding candidates who are not only highly skilled but also passionate about driving results. Whether you need a new team member for a short-term project or are building out your entire digital marketing department, we’re here to help.
We take pride in our ability to understand your specific needs and connect you with candidates who will make a real impact. Our team works closely with you to understand your business goals, which allows us to find individuals who are not only capable but also driven to contribute to your company’s success. Our process ensures that we match you with candidates who are not only a technical fit but also culturally aligned with your organization.

Life can be ridiculous at times, and it gets even worse when you have a cheating spouse. Thanks to a friend who introduced me to a sophisticated hacker who assisted me in obtaining all secret files that my husband had been hiding for several years of our marriage. He assisted in hacking and gaining access to my cheating husband’s icloud, social media networks, call log and spy call recording, monitoring SMS text messages remotely, cell phone GPS location tracking, spying on WhatsApp Messages, gmail, and kik, and I discovered he had done me dirty. The hacker is discrete and proactive in his work; you can reach him at spyrecovery36 @gmail com You won’t be sorry if you give him a shot today.1
