Interviewer: "I checked your Github, your side projects look very interesting! Tell me about your other hobbies."
Me: "other hobbies?"11
I wonder when there will be the first manufacturer to introduce the "cool" new notch design to normal screens. 🤔28
I aspire to be this level of petty.
But I'd take it up a notch and buy several variations of the domain name.7
I actually hate this job, seems like there's not a single project with decent code abstraction. Everything is a fucking spaghetti like:
// we only care about e-mail fields, which are odd
Like MOTHERFUCKER, WHAT BUSINESS RULE DOES THIS SHITCODE REFLECTS?!?! WHY CAN'T YOU SHITHEADS WRITE PROPER BUSINESS ABSTRACTION RATHER THAN JUST COLLEGE-GRADUATE QUALITY SHITCODE.
FUCKING KILL ME ALREADY I SHOULD HAVE INSTEAD BECAME A PSYCHIC CAUSE I'M SURELY GOOD AT GUESSING WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK THIS FUCKING FUCKCODE INTENDS TO ACHIEVE.
DO YOU THINK YOUR COMMENT WAS HELPFUL??? DO I LOOK LIKE A BUSINESS GRADUATE FUCKTARD WHO DOESN'T KNOW WHAT THE FUCK THE MODULE OPERATOR IS??? I WANT TO KNOW WHY YOU WROTE THAT SHITFUCK INSTEAD OF WHAT IT DOES; THE REASON I'M READING YOUR POORLY WRITTEN MODULE OPERATOR SOAP-OPERA IN THE FIRST PLACE IS CAUSE I KNOW WHAT IT'S DOING, IT'S BREAKING SHIT.
OH AND ONE MORE THING, FUCK YOU FUCK FUCK FUCKSHIT SHITFUCK FUCk12
Ok. That's it. I've FUCKING HAD IT with job recruiters. I have a job I like and am doing fine right now, but I'm letting my best friend stay with me while he's looking for jobs, and watching what he's going through is FUCKING NOT OKAY.
1. Recruiters act like they want him but then just take weeks to get back
2. He'll go through several rounds of interviews and do well and then they just ghost
3. They act reluctant to hire him even when they do want him and try to use the fact that he needs foreign visa sponsorship against him
4. When they do give him an offer they insist that it be a contractor position because of his visa needs, and then they DEMAND that he decide the same day whether to take the job
5. He passes all the rounds of interviews for this one startup and then they email him saying they changed the hiring process and it needs to wait another month. WHAT A LOAD OF FUCKING BULLSHIT. TELL IT LIKE IT IS.
6. He keeps getting calls from people asking the equivalent of 'can you fix printers' when he's a top notch frontend designer
7. I'll say it again, fucking recruiters give you no time to decide because we've tolerated that, and they think people aren't worth anything to their company and they can pressure you into working for them by never allowing you to have more than one offer at a time. FUCK THESE GUYS. Let people explore the possibilities and get the offers they want. I know what I would do if you did that to me. I'd accept the job say I'd start in four weeks and keep fucking looking. How about we skip the games and you just let people look and not play these games.
8. Don't even get me started on the state of salaries in this country and the cancer of nobody wanting to hire anybody full time and get contractors
And on that note... CONTRACTORS.
You hire people give them no benefits or full time stability and they do a shoddy job on the code (not all contractors but many) and they don't document it and then you're left with nothing for your money and your full time employees have to fix it. HOW THE FUCK DOES NOBODY UNDERSTAND THE SIMPLICITY OF THENMATTER, HIRE PEOPLE THAT ARE GOOD IF YOU WANT THEIR WORK DONT WHORE 90% CONTRACTORS TO TRY TO SAVE TEN BUCKS.
It's a miracle that there are still people who haven't been jaded by this. I'm at the point when I know if I'm being treated nicely it's only because there's a barrier thinner than paper separating me from HR and recruiter bullshit.
FUCK THIS SHIT11
I fucking hate Apple products now.
iPhone 5s time was Apple's prime.
Now it's just a company living off the momentum of its old products.
iPhone X.. really ? the notch ?15
I googled "fuck apple" and ended up here... so yeah fuck this piece of shit company with shitty overpriced cancer inducing products. Xcode is the worse garbage I've ever seen in my life. For a company that masturbates to their superior design well they can eat a fat dick cause its horrible. Everything this fucking company does makes me waste my time. Add a fucking notch to their displays, retarded app store process, makes you workaround to install latest OS on older machines, hide options in convoluted interface, everything, make you feel like your 12 again and living with your parents. fuck them. fuck apple fan boys. fuck tim cook. fuck kids that jack off to iphones fuck you if you own a macbook and drink at starbucks . this is the last fucking ios app I ever make. bye24
A while back I had a coworker who was just strange. I took a personal day one day, and came back to find my monitor (that I had brought from home) was gone. I was asking the people who worked around me where it went and after no one knew, I found it on someone else's desk. When I explained to him how I had brought it from home he denied he took it from my desk and continued that it was HIS from home! Turns out he had been taking other people's equipment around the office as well. He would rearrange furniture and even take down other people's personal decorations. He was eventually let go...6
It wasn't enough that the iPhone X's notch was making developers' lives hell; now each Android phone is trying to have its own style of notch. Eat a dick device makers.11
Day 1 10:00 am
Login to email account (Zimbra)
Your password is incorrect (I entered it correctly, this was a permanent issue ,used to happen in the company with many employees)
Reset your password by logging into internal company portal.
Logged into company portal, somehow. 2 Mbps internet shared among 104 people, you can imagine the speed.
Reset email password
* your password has been sent to your email id*
Are you fucking kidding me? U have emailed me the password to the same email I can't log in to?
Where did the architecture designer get this top notch weed from?
Asked HR to reset my password (using a colleague's email)
No reply from HR yet
I went to meet HR, she's on vacation. So they have 1 person managing the password reset, for 5000 people with no backup person. Cool.
Your internal company password has expired. Check your email for link to create new password. This is some next level shit going on.
I called up Internal IT team to generate a new email for me.
They asked me to raise a ticket.
I can't raise a ticket because the only way to do so, is through the portal.
Nothing. Btw, personal email and all social networks were banned. You can't even open stackoverflow.
And this was a research lab, amazing huh?
Loss of pay for 4 days since I can't login to company portal to fill timesheet.
HR comes back. Resets my password.
I try to generate my new password for portal.
The password policy:
Password can't be same as last 10 passwords
Passwords expire every week
8 characters minimum, 2 upper case, 2 lower case, NO SPECIAL SYMBOL. WTF. How long do u think its gonna take to crack that?
Fuckers had a company wise policy to automatically lock PC every 1 min if not used. Who the fuck can keep on using it continuously! I'm reading an article, and bam ! Locked. 2 wrong entries and that's it, repeat all steps again. Fuckers really didn't want to let me do my job, just keep on logging in all day.21
left a company over 3 years ago because they wanted me to dumb my code down so that the other devs could understand it. they wouldn't allow me to use classes in my code lol. anyway, 3+ years later figured I would try to log in to some of the admin panels... passwords still the same. MySQL dbs... passwords the same... cpanel... passwords the same. smh. even if I still worked there the passwords should be changed every so often. top notch security right there. funniest part is they don't even do backups or use VCS for the code. sad sad company. glad I'm no longer there. my personal projects have more security, redundancy and fail over lol4
This code isn't working right, better check the log...
ERROR: There was an error.
Alright, cool, chill. Thanks for the top notch error handling. 👌2
Stay away from those LinkedIn recruiters who use words like: "Cutting edge technology" , "Geeks", "Top notch", "Team player" , "Esteemed organization" , "Ground breakers" , "Change the world" and any more of these shitty phrases!!5
Good morning everyone^^
I just heard my company is doinig some weird shit.
1. We RECOMMEND doing backups on a USB stick (our customers get a cheap giveaway when they purchase our products).
2. We sell farm controllers with less power than a fucking arduino as "Top Notch technology". (single core 1Mhz, 128MB RAM)
We Devs are not supposed to understand this logic. We shall only "make it faster". If proper solutions are suggested it gets shrugged off as "expensive".18
That moment when you walk into the office on your first day, while setting up your desk they ask you which mouse you would like to use, and you respond "oh no thank you I prefer my trackpad" and the whole office stops what their doing and gives you that look...14
Why Windows, do you need to spent 30 fucking minutes getting your Shit together after an update when I can leave a Linux distro basically alone for 6 months, come back, update it AND STILL FUCKING USE IT. Yet you fail at even starting remotely promptly.
On an SSD. With enough RAM. Top notch hardware. YOU STILL FUCKING FLAP AROUND LIKE A DUCK HAVING A STROKE ON A FROZEN FUCKING LAKE!14
Client: I need a Website, You have "complete freedom" to choose an apt design, it should be professional and creative.
~ Makes a top-notch Demo inspired from Apple Website ~
Client: It is not professional at all, you should use yellow color for header background. Matching the yellow in the logo, text should be in red. Use blue borders. "Make it more professional!"
~ Client is King. Does exactly as client said ~
Client: Change the font of the website, use something like this (shows Monotype Corsiva). Reduce the image sizes to stamp size. Give a zoom effect to the headings. Increase the text font size to 16px.
~ Client is King. Does exactly as client said ~
Client: Now it looks more professional!! You should hire me to your design department! And now, as I did the major design part you are only eligible for half the payment......
Designer: <<< what will you say? comment it below.. >>>11
I *hate* how being a hacker nowadays gets you so much bad cred. I do things like exploits against embedded devices to be able to understand them and repair them, physical hacks to repair a broken device (like cutting a notch in something to make a replacement part fit), and things like that. Being a hacker does NOT mean I'm part of some government takeover bullsh*t set out to hack the pentagon or rig the election. It also does NOT include mindless banging on a keyboard. And no, I cannot hack someone's facebook for you, track someone's device, etc. Just..no.13
About 18 months ago my non-technical Manager of Applications Development asked me to do the technical interviews for a .NET web developer position that needed to be filled. Because I don't believe in white board interviewing (that's another rant), but I do need to see if the prospective dev can actually code, for the initial interview I prepare a couple of coding problems on paper and ask that they solve them using any language or pseudo code they want. I tell them that after they're done we'll discuss their thought process. While they work the other interviewing dev and I silently do our own stuff.
About half way through the first round of technical interviews the aforementioned manager insisted we interview a dev from his previous company. This guy was top notch. Excellent. Will fit right in.
The manager's applicant comes in to interview and after some initial questions about his resume and experience I give him the first programming problem: a straightforward fizzbuzz (http://wiki.c2.com/?FizzBuzzTest). He looked as if the gamesters of Triskelion had dropped him into the arena. He demurs. Comments on the unexpectedness of the request. Explains that he has a little book he usually refers to to help him with such problems (can't make this stuff up). I again offer that he could use any language or pseudo code. We just want to see how he thinks. He decides he will do the fizzbuzz problem in SQL. My co-interviewer and I are surprised at this choice, but recover quickly and tell him to go ahead. Twenty minutes later he hands me a blank piece of paper. Of the 18 or so candidates we interview, he is the only one who cannot write a single line of code or pseudo code.
I receive an email from this applicant a couple of weeks after his interview. He has given the fizzbuzz problem some more thought. He writes that it occurs to him that the code could be placed into a function. That is the culmination of his cogitation over two weeks. We shake our heads and shortly thereafter attend the scheduled meeting to discuss the applicants.
At the meeting the manager asks about his former co-worker. I inartfully, though accurately, tell him that his candidate does not know how to code. He calls me irrational. After the requisite shocked silence of five people not knowing how to respond to this outburst we all sing Kumbaya and elect to hire someone else.
Interviews are fraught for both sides of the table. I use Fizzbuzz because if the applicant knows how to code it's an early win in the process and we all need that. And if the applicant can't solve it, cut bait and go home.
Fizzbuzz. Best. Interview. Question. Ever.6
Wordpress does not suck. If you know how to work it.
Past period I saw so many rants on WP. My rant is that it is not 100% WP fault. Yes there are seriously structural problems in WP but that does not mean you cannot create top-notch websites.
At my work we create those top-notch WP sites. Blazing fast and manageable. Seriously we got a customer request to make the site slower because it loaded pages to fast (ea; you hardly could see you switched pages).
- We ONLY use a strict set of plugins that we think are stable, useful.
- We have everything in composer (and our own Satis) for plugins.
- We use custom themes & classes. Our code is MVC with Twig.
- In our track history we have 0 hacked websites for the past 2 years.
- Everything runs stable 24/7
- We have OTAP (testing, acceptance & production environments)
- We patch really fast
These are sites going from $15k++ and we know our shit.
Don't hate on WP if you have no clue what you are doing yourself.
That is my rant.23
I hate it when your non dev friend uses top notch hardware and I am stuck with a piece of shit junk15
Companies think that Indians are so stupid that they are trying to sell their phone by depicting that the NOTCH is a Fucking FEATURE 😭😖😠😡.26
So I just read that Oneplus 6 will have a glass back and a notch. Why? Why all companies want to be like Apple? :/12
Why do so shitty "API"s exist that are even harder to write than proper ones? D:
Trying to hack my venilation at home.
This API is so horrible D:
The API is only based on POST requests no matter if you want to write values or get values and the response only contains XML with cryptic values like:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
Also there are multiple API routes like
And actually the real API route is only given in the request body and not in the path.
Why is this so shitty? D:<
Btw in terms of security this is also top notch. It just globally saves if one computer sends the login password.
I mean why even ask for a password then? D:
That made me end up with a cronjob to send a login request so I don't have to login on any device.
You see, great piece of German engineering.3
I used to be a fan, but recently they really stopped listening to users. No one asked for a wide angle selfie cam. If you give us that huge notch at least provide a FaceID equivalent or something that makes up for the notch.
Remove the headphone jack, cool. But then make the adapter and Bluetooth reliable. Even after a year the adapter isn’t working and the Bluetooth doesn’t connect on the first attempt. Never. The fix is constantly “coming”.
Google copies Apple without thinking. Apple gets away with shit because they provide something in return.
I was an Android user for almost 10 years, and I’ll say this: I bought the iPhone XS (I’m a purist, non-stock OS is a massive no-no) and it’s a much more usable device than the Pixels or other Android devices I used. It’s lacking in a lot of ways, but overall it’s a much better phone.
Google really needs to hire people who understand what people actually want. An amazing camera on its own isn’t enough these days.12
Ladies and gentlemen.
I wanna introduce you one of the best tools on the market. My latest and greatest creation.
Da Notch (TM)
Have you ever thought "Damn, I would like to have this notch like iPhone X, but on my pc"? Well lucky you! With Da Notch (TM) you can bring iPhone X notch to your Windows machine! You can even change it's width with simply left clicking on it and using your scroll wheel. Isn't that great?
Get it here! https://gitlab.com/aathlon/...8
!dev but rant
Samsung!! What the fuck is wrong with you?
Some longer time ago you earned forst red red flag called knox. What the fuck you mean there is physical diode in phone that will burn out when I do whatever I want with phone? Its my phone. My. I live in europe and european law is with me. Its **MY** stuff and Im allowed to be super user so fuvk off with knox bullshit.
Okay, now, more and more phone are missing critical feature to save few cents a phone. You were last bastion. You were **that** company who was loyal to audio jacks. And why the fuck you plan to remove it? You know what? That one thing brought your phones from one of best (becouse retained audio jacks and didnt do much of notch fuckupery) to literally worst one thanks to knox.
And before anyone tells me bullshit apple tried to say "thats space saving", no its not true to point where one of their very own Iphones had internally space and traces for audio jacks. Its to save pennies on phone for profit margins and to force us to use bluetooth stuff, that I dislike. I stick to my K518 few years now and I am super happy user of it. Why y'all want to take away good stuff?
Oneplus, your turn. Why the luving fuck your big bulletpoint of marketing was "yes, we will keep loyal to audio jacks" and later down the line you shown one big fat middle finger to all users.
Goos job, guys, well fucked up.
So any good modern alternatives for my OnePlus 5 when it becomes obstole in few years? Nope. Fuck nope.
OP7 pro is awesome but no audio jacks absolutely kills off this phone in my eyes to level of not existance and inability to be considered.17
Ditched the iPhone X for the Samsung Gaaxy S9+ today, tires of the notch and no fingerprint sensor plus I wanted the bigger better screen.10
I was in the last stage of a 12 hour interview process (over 3 days), meeting with the CEO/founder of the company. His final conclusion was (and he said this directly to me) that he felt I would do really well, and that my skill set was perfect and all the feedback from the interviewers was top notch...but he asked if I was published or had any patents. I said “no”. So, he paused and then said “well, without a full 4 year degree or either having been published or having any patents, I think we would be taking too great a risk. I mean, there’s a chance you would work out. I have taken that chance before, and he’s now our CTO. But I’m just not sure about this”.
I was not offered the position.6
I've met several people who can be deemed "incompetent", but sadly most of their problems are their attitude, this is one of several person that left quite an impression for me,
A guy from my previous company who was a PHP developer, not bad at his job, but has severely bad attitude, childish, fucking rude and barbaric, he doesn't like when someone is having a good time and always pulling stunts at everyone,
Some notable moments was if anyone is having/tries to have a good day, he'll come up with a way to ruin it,
Someone is having a good lunch, he'd come by and ask for a taste
Someone is having a bad lunch, he'd come by and rub some salt on their face
Someone just bought something cool, he'd act like an expert about it
Someone getting praised, he'd ruin the moment
Someone rebukes his attitude, he act like a victim
Someone shows discontent about the job, he acts like a wise guy
Someone said good things about the job, he refutes and bash whoever is convenient
Someone drinks water, he commented on it (I once gargled some water after I ate something oily, and he mocked me for being disgusting, I didn't give a shit and gargled anyway just to annoy him)
I gained quite a hatred against this guy because he used to pick on me, it all started shortly after I joined, I gained quite the reputation with the boss, and I associated myself quite closely with the higher ups (manager, sysadmin, PM), and since he sat in a cubicle next to me, I was the only colleague within talking range
His usual antics was showing off his seniority, but it doesn't work to me because I don't like to bow to authority, especially a petty one like this, luckily he doesn't know jack shit about front end, he tried to learn but still unable to fulfill what the boss wanted so at least he can't outsmart me,
Later after he had a dispute (disagreement on a side project, and he left the project hanging abruptly) with the shitty manager, he started showing discontent in the workplace, everyday was spent streaming anime and deliberately laughing loudly until it bothers everyone, it got him a warning and relocation order to work at the same office as the boss' (the devs usually works on the branch office),
After the relocation, he started to bother me and act like a victim, he somewhat blames me for his relocation, he even tried to persuade me to cause issue on the work I was doing, obviously I said no, and after I told him to go fuck himself he tried to make me relocated to the main office for no reason,
The timing of my resignation was quite impeccable, and after I submitted my resignation, he stopped bothering me for a while,
Not a bad programmer in technical terms, but his assholery is top notch9
Smartphone manufacturers these days, imagine how meetings to come up with ideas for new products go about.
Product manager :ok people, what can we do to make our next smartphone 'different'.
Employee 1: let's add more cameras
Employee 2:Let's kill the notch
Employee 3:Let's include the buzzword AI in all of our marketing
Employee 4:Let's put 8Gb of Ram in our phone
Employee 5:Let's just do all of those things and also give it a screen with a ridiculous aspect ratio and unnecessarily high resolution.3
I wish homework worked like an ES6 Promise: "A Promise represents a value which may be available now, or in the future, or never."1
A few years ago, i had a task to implement a webservice of an insurance-company into our .NET Development.
The security requirements of this insurance-company webservice were top notch.
As a client you had to build a request that used a negotiated certificate, canonical header structures, security timestamp, a secret token in header, ...
To configure all this stuff via web.config WCF was pure pain in the ass.
After many phonecalls and emails, i finally managed to meet all security requirements to send a valid request.
First, i didn't recognized my breakthrough, because my client still had thrown exceptions while calling the insurance-webservice.
Why was that?
The exception told me on the most possible gentle way, that .Net isn't able to process an unsecured response, when there was a secured request before.
So there was top notch security for requesting, but dumbass unsecured responding with all the precious customer information.
I even had to raise the. Net Version of our. Net client, because i wasn't able to configure that it is allowed to process an unsecured response after using a secured request.
I dunno if you gents remember the Nickelodeon show known as Drake and Josh.
It was pretty big in Mexico and the U.S.
Well, one of the characters from that show is the singer/actor Drake Bell.
For a while, Drake Bell would **constantly** tweet about how much Justin Bieber sucks.
I aint denying that Justin Bieber sucks, i don't like his music at all.
But the constant attacks came out as jealousy, at least to me.
What does this has to do with development or even computers? Well this is EXACTLY how I feel about Louis Rossman CONSTANTLY making videos about apple products.
We get it man we really do, sadly for a lot of us the only way to get ios development done is through a fucking Mac
EVEN if his whiny ass is right about the hardware not being top notch and all that shit I AM still not able to explain a 2013(early...as in january) macbook pro still working with literally NO fucking problems. Before that the other macbook was just changed because we wanted the 2013 model. The thing worked, the one before did so too and the 2017 model that I have works, amazingly so i will add.
Still, the army of dell,hp and lenovo laptops that I've had before just died or are not functioning properly. Either it is my shit luck or Apple's "shitty hardware" got something really fucking right.
I think its retarded really. If you don't like them then fine, you don't have to, personally I fucking love all computers and os, but I don't get fanboys hating for the sake of hate.
the fuck you care if I spend 2500 on a computer? I would the same shit for your mom and the computer would last me longer.
Does owning multiple macs make me better than you? No
Does this mean that you are piss poor and can't afford shit and that is why you are hating? No
Will I call you <insert number of insults> gor your choice of pc or os? No
What is retarded is this: you all are DEVELOPERS(at least a good chunk) and your ass better fucking know that some people USE a certain tool because IT IS THE RIGHT ONE FOR THE JOB.
It is a damn fine operating system, a really good computing experience. It ain't your taste? Fine, das cool, but for fucks sake it does not mean that the other people are idiots or whatever.
Grow the fuck up and get yourself an opinion.20
every new smartphone these days seems to be like one of those scify movie aliens with weird eyes (dual camera lenses) .
I mean, pixel phones clearly shows that having a top-notch software for single camera is already at par with dual cam setups .
And yet huawei is slaying them all .
New huawei flagship phone : awesome specs , ai beautify , blah blah lens , blah blah block chain 16 mp AND "2MP " dual camera setup .
they are like yeah surely we give them dual cameras, but why bother because no one will read after the word "DUAL"
Huawei P20 Series with yet another notch.
Let's get excited now.
(Pictured is P20 Pro with triple(?) cameras..... WTF)6

A Rant that took my attention on MacRhumors forum.
I pre-calculated projected actual overall cost of owning my i5/5/256 Haswell Air, which I got for $1500.
After calculations, this machine would cost me about $3000 for 3 years of use.
(Apple Care, MS Office Business, Parallels, Thunderbolt adapter to HDMI, Case... and so on).
Yea... A lot of people think it's all about the laptop with Apple. nah... not at all. There's a reason Apple is gradually dropping the price of their laptops.
They are slowly moving to a razor and blade business model... which basically is exactly what it sounds like - you buy the razor which isn't too expensive, but you've got no choice but to buy expensive additional blades.
I doubt Apple is making much money from laptop sales alone... well definitely not as much as they were making 5 years or so ago (remember the original air was about $1800 for base model, and if i remember correctly - $1000 additional dollars to upgrade to 64GB SSD from the base HDD.
Yes, ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR 64GB SSD!
Well, anyways, the point is that Apple no longer makes them BIG bucks from the laptop alone, but they still make good profits from upgrades. $300 to go to 512GB SSD from 256, $100 for 4GB extra ram, and $150 for a small bump in processor. They make good profits from these as well.
But that's not where they make mo money. It's once you buy the Macbook, they've got you trapped in their walled garden for life. Every single apple accessory is ridiculously overpriced (compared to market standards of similar-same products).
And Apple makes their own cables and ports. So you have to buy exclusively for Apple products. Every now and then they will change even their own ports and cables, so you have to buy more.
Software is exclusive. You have no choice but to buy what apple offers... or run windows/linux on your Mac.
This is a douche level move comparable to say Mircrosoft kept changing the usb port every 2-3 years, and have exclusive rights to sell the devices that plug in.
No, instead, Intel-Microsoft and them guys make ports and cables as universal as possible.
Can you imagine if USB3.0 was thinner and not backwards compatible with usb2.0 devices?
Well, if it belonged to Apple that's how it would be.
This is why I held out so long before buying an apple laptop. Sure, I had the ipod classic, ipod touch, and more recently iPad Retina... but never a laptop.
I was always against apple.
But I factored in the pros and cons, and I realized I needed to go OS X. I've been fudged by one virus or another during my years of Windows usage. Trojans, spywares. meh.
I needed a top-notch device that I can carry with me around the world and use for any task which is work related. I figured $3000 was a fair price to pay for it.
No, not $1500... but $3000. Also I 'm dead happy I don't have to worry about heat issues anymore. This is a masterpiece. $3000 for 3 years equals $1000 a year, fair price to pay for security, comfort, and most importantly - reliability. (of course awesome battery is superawesome).
Okay I'm going to stop ranting. I just wish people factored in additional costs from owning an a mac. Expenses don't end when you bring the machine home.
I'm not even going to mention how they utilize technology-push to get you to buy a Thunderbolt display, or now with the new Air - to get a time capsule (AC compatible).
It's all about the blades, with Apple. And once you go Mac, you likely won't go back... hence all the student discounts and benefits. They're baiting you to be a Mac user for life!
Apple Marketing is the ultimate.
@dfox - Idea for weekly rant - worst candidate that showed up to a job interview.
Had a solid resume, claimed to be a Java king, top notch. First question after he sat down: How to create a thread-safe singleton in Java using double-checked locking?
Guy didn't know the answer. - NEXT!14
Everyone think google is trolling Apple’s notch. But as a software giant, google is tripped over css with its own material design🤦♂️12
The back glass of my Galaxy S9 broke and it became unusable due to the sharp broken glass. So I switched to an iPhone I had for a few days. I have to admit that the battery life on the iPhone sucks especially on mobile data and heats up way too quickly.
I'm now back to using my S9 after repair and quite happy about it. But then this got me thinking. I'm saddened by the fact that this is one of the last few phones of its kind. I want a phone which:
1. has no notch of any kind.
2. has good battery life (comparable to that of my S9 NOT S9 +)
3. **is not a bitch of Google (or such)
4. is no bigger than the S9
Sadly, there is no such phone. The new Nokia 9 is also one of the better phones for me. But one of the last of its kind. This is just sad. Even if point 3 is removed, there still isn't a phone which satisfies the other three.
I will therefore have no options when I want to upgrade after a few years.14
Being a student is rough. You start an academic year applying mindlessly to companies for internships, preparing for interviews and hear back from a handful of companies. Then when you actually intern you still have to work on improving resume with projects and still do DSA because you don’t go to a top notch school.3
I feel sad to say this but...
I'm hyped for the pixel 4, currently rocking my 6th pixel 2 XL (fuck these screens and camera units) and the pixel 3 was just all levels of no from the notch, incremental upgrade status and just a phone following the trends.
Looking at the leaks and official confirmations of the pixel 4 actually have me keen for photography (I do prefer a DLSR or straight up film unit but a good in the moment camera is amazing), performance and lack of notch just have me keen...
Forgive me father for I have sinned4
"LG G7 leak shows off a familiar looking notch"
Hmmm..... (scratches head)
Shout out to all Web Designers.
I have made a chrome extension to put the IPhoneX notch in every page.
Thank me later
There is a bug that causes a second notch to appear in the pixel 3xl. On the right side.
So I'm at this clinic deploying this top notch clinical cutting edge health care system we worked on for 3 months with mission impossible team...
A nurse came to me:
"You must be the IT guy, can you fix my printer ?"
What would you say guys in this scenario ?3
I'm calling you out, Asus, fix your absolutely shitty piece of software or I'm never buying a motherboard from you again.
A little explanation: my PC woke up from sleep like this. On another occasion before I could take the screenshot, the CPU was sitting almost idle at 45 degrees C. The CPU fan senses that it has to spin up, but never actually does so.
I've had the opposite thing before - a case fan spinning up not wanting to spin down even if the temps are fine - which is preferable because it only causes a little bit of noise. But this here could potentially cause damage to the CPU if I put some load on it without looking at the temperature. I've partly remedied the issue by writing a batch script that kills and resets the fan control service and is triggered by Task Scheduler on resume from sleep - a thing every average Joe should do, right?
It's a shame for top-notch hardware to have to go together with such crappy piece of software. This is the X99 Sabertooth that cost me 450 EUR originally.16
Not a rant, but I'd love to see three top notch developers, doing a coding challenge, in the same language, without any text editors, IDE's, compilers ( other than pre-installed ones ) when they start, working on 'their' most unfamiliar OS; the three OS options being Linux, Windows & OSX.
Any opinions on who might complete first?6
Why the hell do the Pixel 3 XL have a notch if it doesn't support Face unlock?
Meaning there could be other functions related but they are like face filters on snapchat and all. Face unlock is something would be used the most.
Really Google! U decided to keep the notch but no face unlock 🙄11
developers.google.cn is now available in China! Hopefully this helps the Android app situation here1
I can not emphasize enough as a webdeveloper how totally stunning the Apple website is. It’s at least just as amazing as their products and it doesn’t even cost any money for us to browse it and get inspired by it. Really top notch gorgeous pixels. *drool*7
I fucking hate our chairperson in our university
She always gloats that our university js the best in our country like wtf ever since the university got ISO accreditation they went batshit crazy with the students
They cant even land ABET-CAC. Honestly fuck them!! They even want me to shift to another course because i failed to attend 2 months of classes, I was treated for heart problem with proper med cert and all, but they still said that im not good enough that i cant survive in the field that i cant be part of the department because they want people who graduate from the university as top notch people. She even gloated that students in our department have freelance jobs before graduating. FUCK THEM!! Our profs doesnt even know how to properly be a thesis advisor, one of our profs teaching database file org. Doesnt even know hoe to code or even to query like wtf! One of our profs teaches ONLY 5 times in a semester
FUCK THEM THE CHAIRPERSON HERSELF CANT EVEN TEACH AND SHE IS STUCK IN THAT JOB FOR YEARS
Honestly this is why students are degraded! How can someone reach their potential with this how can a country prosper.
The throw that shit at me but i am a founder and president of a tech company running for atleast 2 years now (i dont let the department know of this) im doing shit just to make sure i get a diploma and support myself and the whole team but fuck then they cant even set uo a proper curriculum
Hi everyone, I'm just a bit worried with my future status, I'm currently a Software Engineer here in my home country, I will be going to New Zealand sometime this March. I have a reason why I'm moving to NZ but do you think I can get a Software Engineer job there? I'm 20 and been exposed by my Australian experience (I'm not from Australia btw) from Angular and PHP. I've been trained by my Seniors top notch that they're letting me deploy to-live our largest websites.
Do you think I'll be able to find one or I'll be settling with convenience store related jobs there?
I never agreed with form-over-function but at least I could understand it. I will never understand the mobile industry's near-unilateral shift towards gimmicks-over-both-form-and-function though. I will go back to Windows Mobile before I ever buy another phone with a curved touchscreen or any phone with a fucking horrible "notch".2
So, apparently my client was about to demo the web app that I've just built to many potential users. The audience/users however is an top notch CEO's, and management from various companies.
Oh god, I hate working with them. They just so lousy and perhaps ocd or smtg idk. They literally changed the concept in the middle of development, and event CHANGE THE NAME of the company days before the demo. God, I hate it.
Should I update the repo with dickbutt pics and deployed it asap? I've prepared the branch btw. Its just a matter of click now lol
Notch, the creator of Minecraft was my biggest influence.
He did what he loved to do and inspired me to do the same. I discovered I wanted to start programming because of him.
