No, I'm not hacking.
No Linux is not a movie.
No, you are not a developer because you can put "Hello World" on a website.
No, this isn't a waste of my time.
Yes, I will use it.
Yes, I'll make you a website for free. NOT!
Your phone is both Android and Samsung.
No, what they did in the movie is impossible.
No, I can't predict the stock market.
No, I'm not Mr. Robot, but I know him...6
Something I grind my teeth on very hard just recently,
Mum: son, why does this always showing up on my phone (a Samsung J something)
*sent a screenshot of some antivirus adware opening on chrome
Me: mum, that might be a virus, how long has it been happening?
Mum: I don't know, a month probably, since your nephew always uses it to play games, BTW it automatically opens up everytime I open whatsapp
Me: *facepalm, and you never thought to tell me until now?
Mum: I never thought it would be, and also i got this recently
*screenshot of some SMS from shady subscription, notifying some failure in subscribing whatever it is they are offering
Me: *double facepalm, let's put that aside for now, that adware seems to be happening on Chrome, can you try to remove the tabs
*spent 2 hours to instruct on how to close chrome tabs
Me: ok, just go to my friend's place (he own a phone store, and he did the fixes & repairs himself), bring it to him, I'll tell him the situation.
Mum: ok, maybe tomorrow, I can't today,
Mum: it's still happening, the thing keeps popping up
Me: then maybe you should go to my friend's place ASAP *me starting to lose patience
Mum: but it's ok, your sister uninstalled the Chrome
Me: *triple facepalm, [FFS sis, you are an IT major], so where does it pops up now?
*screenshot of popup ad from default browser
*screenshot of the apps installed in the phone, there are 25+ of those shitty minecraft shooter game installed on it
Mum: it pops up from different one than before, but your sister also deleted it just now
Me: *cries, mum..., please..., go..., to..., my friend's..., place...., AS SOON AS YOU CAN, for now please delete EVERYTHING game related in that thing
Mum: ok, I'll remove it, I'll head over to your friend's maybe tomorrow
Me: thank you, very, much
...5 minutes later
Sis: Maybe I should give mum my Iphone, Samsung is awful, this never happened on Iphone before
Me: *shuts off my phone36
Today, Samsung placed an two A4 page ad in a local free newspaper, in which they describe since when they implemented the features from the new iphone24
My smartphone specifications list
1. Should come with 3.5 mm jack
2. No exploding battery please.15

So, my boyfriend's phone was stolen and my Google Drive account was synced on that phone. Also noticed that someone attempted to change my Gmail account. That dimwit does not know to whom he's messing with. Huh! I'm going to hunt that son of a gun and will make his life be tormented in hell! Muhuhuhahahahaha!21
Wk49 $: Life Story .
When I was a small boy I loved to analyse systems, I also had a Motorola v360 cellphone with a decent gprs internet connection everyday from midnight to 6 in the morning, so I slept in class and hacked my poor Motorola all night. One day I discovered xtgem.com it was a basic web based cms with basic html support, so I learned html from a .txt file because my browser could only download .txt files. I then started to make little html sites. After a year I got a new phone the Samsung Star and started to code css, js. Then after I passed my grade 10 my mom buys second hand computer, the windows computer came with a little jewel called qbasic, I started coding the fuck out of qbasic it taught me how to program. I eventually got a better computer, a sony vaio laptop that I used to become a full stack web developer which is a rare job here in Namibia (South West Africa). I used the laptop to expand my js knowledge by reading crockford's literature and intensively studying everything on MDN. I become a expert at web development. Then oneday I picked up a debian cd at my college, I then installed debian on my poor sony laptop. I became fell in love with Linux, I then learned C to enable me to poke around in my debian. These days I am a lead node.js developer at a start-up.8
Goddamn, getting a OnePlus 5t was a good decision. It's so damn snappy, loads everythings faster than two squirrels having a quickie, the screen is sexy as fuck and I really like the accessories too.
Sorry to be such a silly fanboy, but my previous phone (Samsung Galaxy S5) was a broken piece of shit device and hasn't worked properly for almost two years before I finally said 'fuck it, let's get a new one!'.
Who has the same or a similarly nice phone? Any ideas on how I could pull even more fun out of using it? Games? Media applications? Stuff to make your life easier? I'm open for anything.21
Currently on an internship, PHP mostly, little bit of Python and the usual web stuff, and I just had the BEST FUCKING DAY EVER.
Wake up and find out I'm out of coffee, oh boy here we go.
Bus leaves 10 minutes late, great gonna miss my train.
Trains just don't wanna ride today, back in a bus I go, what's normally a 10 minute train travel is now a 90 minute bus ride.
Arrive at internship, coffee machine is broke, non problem, I'll just lose it slowly.
NOW HERE COMES THE FUCKING GOOD PART!!
Alright, so I'm working on a CMS that can be used just about on any device you want, mobile or desktop, it's huge, billion's of rows of scientific data. Very specific requirements and low error margins. Now, yesterday I was really enjoying myself here until today, Project manager walks in, comes to my desk and hands me a Samsung Gear S3, an Apple watch and some cheap knockoff. He tells me that before the Friday deploy, THE ENTIRE CMS SHOULD WORK ON THOSE WATCHES!
I mean, don't get me wrong, I like a challenge but it's just not right, I mean, I'm still not sure what the right way to handle tables on phones is, but smart watches, just no. Besides that, I've never worked with any Apple devices, let alone WatchOs, nor have I worked with Android Wear.
Also, Project Manager is a total dickhead, he's the kinda guy that prefers a light theme, doesn't clean up his code, writes 0 documentation for an API, 1 space = tab, pure horror.
So after almost flipping my desk, I just called my school coach to announce I'm leaving this internship. After a brief explanation he decides to come over, and guess what, according to the Project Manager I wasn't supposed to do that, I was supposed to test if it would be possible.

Looking at the amount of Samsung Note 7 rants, I have to restore the balance with some classic Iphone bashing ;)4
I've asked a friend for a charging cable, he asked if I need a Samsung or a IPhone one. He ended up totally confused when I asked him for a Type C one.10
I applied for an internship with Samsung, got ignored, now I am crying in the corner.
It was the perfect internship for me:
Great! If all goes well, I'll finally be building my new PC on Tuesday night or Wednesday.
I already have:
GPU: 8GB Asus GeForce GTX 1070 Dual OC
Mainboard: Asus Prime 370-A
System SSD: 256GB Samsung PM961 M.2 2280
OTHER SSD: a 512GB Transcend from 2014 that still works perfectly.
And I'll receive on Tuesday/Wednesday:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 1700X
RAM: 16GB (2x 8192MB) G.Skill Flare X
CPU cooler: Ben Nevis ADVANCED
PSU: 650 Watt EVGA SuperNOVA 650GQ Modular 80+ Gold
Case: Fractal Design Define R5 Black
I saved 70(!) EUR on the GPU, so that it was actually almost as cheap as getting a good 1060 and I saved 40 EUR on the 1700X via a coupon code, so that it was even cheaper than the 1700, that's why I went for the Flare X RAM (CL14 timing), instead of going for a different but cheaper G.Skill RAM (CL16 timing).
This system should make 1080p gaming work with high ass framerates, which is all I want.
Next month I'll be adding some case fans, after determining the best possible air flow for my setup. I'm not going to "showcase" my build, it's just supposed to be as fast and quiet as possible, so I don't care about fancy RGB lighting, even if the MB offers that.
I'm gonna add an AIO water cooler in a few months as well as a two or three terabyte HDD.
Any ideas what I could have done better? Also post your own setup, if you like.50
Today I learnt that my LG Nexus 5X uses a Samsung manufactured DRAM :O
I had no idea that several Google and Apple devices use Samsung manufactured RAM chips!
PS - Don't judge me, I'm a hardware noob.17
I'll buy an oar.
Not a boat with two of them, just an oar.
And slap every idiot who comes near to me again trying to convince me how Apple products are innovative. Every feature mentioned I had on my phone at least for 5years. And if not on my phone, Nexus or another Samsung had it already for a long time. Hell, Samsungs even started exploding sooner!
What is it with those Apple snowflakes trying to be something special? Yes you are special! You piss me of in a matter of nanoseconds.9

"Rottensys" a malware which covers devices from: Honor, Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, Vivo, Samsung and GIONEE
"According to our findings, the RottenSys malware began propagating in September 2016. By March 12, 2018, 4,964,460 devices were infected by RottenSys," researchers said.
"At this moment, the massive malware campaign pushes an adware component to all infected devices that aggressively displays advertisements on the device’s home screen, as pop-up windows or full-screen ads to generate fraudulent ad-revenues."
If you have one of the affected devices, here's how I checked mine:
1. Install ADB (Windows: https://forum.xda-developers.com/sh...)
2. Connect your device in USB-debugging mode
3. execute "adb shell 'pm list packages -f' > output.txt" (On windows navigate to C:\adb and replace "adb" with ".\adb.exe")
4. open the now created output.txt
5. search for any of those:
Yesterday in the flight I was travelling announcement: passengers carrying Samsung galaxy note 7 must switch off at all times and must not charge their phones!!2
At the Samsung store:
Woman looking for a phone: Can you recommend me a phone by a picture of me?
Seller: Why not, show me the picture.
The woman shows https://devrant.io/rants/728524/... and the seller starts looking for something.
The woman asks: What are you looking for?
Seller: Note 7.1
I stayed at a hotel called "Crowne Royal Plaza" for a work event in Denver. The TV in the room was a nice new '50 Samsung. Much to my dismay I discovered they had disabled the ability to change the input to HDMI. I called the front desk to compain and the pesent who answered the phone had the nerve to tell me that feature had been disabled because it was "illegal". I laughed histarically and explained the reason was actually to try and force customers to buy shitty pay-per-view content, to which he replied, "Probably".
We must put an end to such blantant disregard for hardware and software freedom. This is beyond uneccaptable. I am completely and utterly disgusted by such slimy business practices.
To the management of the Crowne Royal Plaza, from the bottom of my heart, fuck you and burn in the deapest, darkest part of hell, you scum sucking dick fucks!8
Samsung's sending a “Note 7 Return Kit” with a Thermally-Insulated Box and Safety Gloves!!
2 mins silence to all those who purchased the note 7 😐6
(RIP Stephen hawking)
Me not liking Samsung phones does not automatically mean that I don’t like Android in general and am an iSheep. Android != Samsung.
I hate my “friends”45
My "new desktop PC".
6 core xeon CPU with hyperthreading x2 (24 virtual cores) over clocked to 3.9ghz
128gb ddr3 ecc ram
256gb SCSI hard drives in RAID 0
256 Samsung ssd
AMD r9 something something 8gb ddr5 vram gpu
Got it for £120 on eBay (except for the ssd and gpu). Still missing a sound card :(
I have no idea on what to use it yet except for development but I thought it'd be cool to build a pretty good "desktop pc" for around £350-£400.14
Hey, Google! Fuck you with an eded, rusty iron rod for messing with my app and service settings, on every update you fucking assholes! The user settings are called user settings for a reason! If you're just going to override them at any opportunity, why THE MOTHERFUCK have them and call them user settings in the first place! I don't want your fucking notifications, and I sure as hell don't want them twice a day! Suck my cock and choke on my balls, you greedy, fucked-up, borderline-criminal parasites!8
Doesn't it look like Bixby(New virtual assistant from Samsung) logo got inspired a bit from Clippy(Microsoft office assistant)?
Or is it only me?6
Just got a new TV, 4K... it’s one of those smart ones, by Samsung.
Anyone want to explain what the fuck “McAfee Security for TV” is, and why the fuck it is necessary!?
What kind, of absolute waster madman goes “I know what I’ma do today, write a virus for a tv”!?
Take that shit elsewhere McAfee.
Now accepting any links to known Smart TV 0-days and attacks...
And I had to sign in to 5 different fucking accounts to get to the fucking tv.
The world is broke as fuck. Roll on the apocalypse.46

Since everyone is posting their system, I'll do it now, too:
- Type: Laptop
- Age: about 5 years
- Weight: 2-3 kg (too much)
- Modifications: Paper below problematic keys; Samsung Evo 850 250GB SSD
- Usecase: School-Laptop with every Office-Suite I could find.
- Pros: Wrecks my PC with the boottime (Gnome > KDE); Looks really sick; Really lightweight Arch installed; Quiet when not under load
- Cons: Really heavy; Battery old and unreliable; Bluetooth stops working after closing lid12
What would your ideal phone be like?
128gb High speed storage
Snapdragon 835 CPU
Samsung S8 Camera, three lenses all on back(no front), normal, monochrome, and blur thingy, if possible xD
Screen covering most of the body and slight curves
Fingerprint reader (if can make secure) on the back in a good position
Nice design but grippy back material
Super AMOLED screen
Possibly another screen(flip screen), because multitasking, like the ZTE M Axon
Lineage OS Android 8.0 and GApps optional30
The note 7 fiasco makes me very thankful to be working on software for internal applications. I introduce a bug, and there's an obnoxious error dialog a user needs to click out of. Samsung introduces a bug and phones start exploding.4
“There’s too many Firefox quantum rants...”
Lemme let you in on a little secret:
It’s nothing new, get over it.
Apple released a new phone.
Samsung or Google releases a phone.
Do any of you see a common theme? It’s the same people posting three metric fuck tons of posts about recent news. Wow, a tech person sharing tech news, imagine that. It’s just a phase, we all notice it. It’ll go away. Thanks. Have a nice day.13
Was talking to a woman who recently found her lost phone.
After talking about apps which track your phone I asked her if she had an iPhone or an Android.
Her response: "I've just got a Samsung eh"12
Everyone given the iPhone a hard time over no headphone jack, while Samsungs are exploding.
- living with an adapter
- living with chargrilled testicles
A classmate of mine once asked me for a phone charger.
*I would lent it to you, but I don't think you have a type-c*
*No, I have a samsung*10
Bought myself a Samsung s3 and while choosing what apps I want to receive notifications from, I noticed everything was off by one.8
So following from this rant:
Warning long rant ahead
I resigned and my last day is tomorrow, I've released the app updates a week ago, patched a couple bugs for iOS.
My boss and the idiot who can't open an email on his phone go off to use the app as part of some training thing for the company.
I got a call yesterday saying the Android app has issues and I proceeded to ask my boss what type of phone they have:
"Samsung and Huawei"
I thought okay I need more info "what type of phone..." He responds with wouldn't have a clue....
I can't see the phone, didn't get a screenshot or anything like that but I'm expected to just know what the phone is.
My boss goes on to say yeah it's the app (he is literally the most computer illiterate person I could think of aside from guy who can't open emails on phone, how the fuck do you know that?)
Me: "From all the testing I've done the app works"
Look if you want a more robust error free update hire more than one developer I can't test every single fucking use case to determine the app is 100% bug free, I've tested on at least 10 phones before releasing the update just to be absolutely sure I got everything done and okay I missed something.
So I proceed to get my boss to tell the guy who has the issue I'll sign him up to the testing app to find out the cause and hopefully fix the issue, I setup crashlytics send the email and get a call from my boss saying the guy didn't get the email.
Well okay is it my problem that we have two emails for the same person where one of them is a typo? No it's the guy who asked and wrote down the email instead of actually forwarding a blank email from him to be absolutely sure, I sent the email to both just to be on the safe side.
I swear if he is another idiot who can't open emails on his phone well I can't help him, app works on my phone and the phones at work.
I need a phone where it doesn't work so I can get a solution I know works but if I have to deal with these idiots that can't even check an email how the fuck do I do that?
Sorry about the formatting just needed to get this off my chest before I start work.
Oh and I get asked "so who'll fix the bugs when you're gone" well I can't (in reality I'm not working for free, I'm not traveling 1 1/2 commute time to fix one bug for free, go hire someone you think will love to work for minimum wage and let's see if this guy can do what I did)8
One day an iphone is going to explode, and samsung users are going to be like, samsung has had this feature for yearrs lol4
I can't believe people are willing to scan their faces, fingerprints, and retinas on their phones.
Such data is very sensitive as it can't be changed easily.
CCTV is now everywhere and everyone has his own scanner providing data for tracking people.
Am I too paranoid?7
USB and now type C, standard of the future, right?
Enter fast chargers. You can't use another brand's fast charger with your fast-charging phone (e.g. Apple vs. Samsung). In other words, the chargers' internal circuitry is proprietary and not standardized by anyone.
And if you make a standard charging circuit by connecting the VCC and GND leads of a few USB sockets to a 5V 5A supply.. Well you'll be charging at the standard 500mA that's specified for USB 2.0, not 2A or whatever it is that your fast charger can deliver.
Why the fuck is this? Why the fuck has USB been advertised as the one uniform standard, yet we can't do something basic as fast charging through a process that should be no more than making the wires thick enough!15
Hey, people's of devrant!
You guys seem to know a lot about this, so I'm going to ask this question here..
Can i have some recommendations for apps to use (Android) that respect privacy and are preferably enctypted?
Things I would like:
Google drive / Dropbox alternative
A nice looking image viewer / gallery (I don't like the Samsung one)
An RSS feed reader.
Google docs alternative
Maybe a calendar / reminder app
I think that's it. Also feel free to mention other apps that you guys use on a regular basis34
Friend: Do you have a cable you can spare, so that I can charge my phone?
Me: Unless you have a type-c (port), yes.
Friend: No, I have Samsung.
Samsung Pay > Apple Pay
There I said it. After testing Apple Pay, Google Wallet, and now Samsung Pay I am convinced that Samsung Pay is the best. It works great and the rewards points that you get for using it are just awesome.
Side note: wtf Apple!? The iPhone 8 is the iPhone 7 plus wireless charging and the iPhone X is just a $1000 piece of flashy ass shit that's only real "innovations" are Face ID and animojis.7
I just realized a Samsung, Google, Apple smartphone now costs more than a 55in UltraHD 4K smart TV....9
Guy1-Have you seen the new iPhone ?
Guy2-Yeah, blablabla like Samsung
Me-OMG STFU no one cares3
I never rooted and Android device. Now I have until tomorrow to root a Samsung Tablet, update android version, install Microsoft Power Apps and show to CEO.10
We've all had shitty jobs at one point or another, maybe some of us already had software engineering experience while having to work in a different field for a variety of reasons.
Well check this shit.
At one point(during my second year of school) for various reasons I had to work in retail. For those that know, retail can be a soul crushing experience...the trick is not letting management to convince you that it is an actual good job, it is not, and I have respect and sympathy for everyone currently working in it. The mind numbing retarded customers that we get are absolutely fantastic in every sense of the word.
My position in retail was as a phone salesman, for MetroPCS (which for all of y'all european ninjas is one of the low end phone carriers here in the U.S) and the people that we get as customers where I live are normally very poor which apparently in Mexican culture stands for annoyingly ignorant (I am Mexican myself, so I can really vouch for this shit)
One day a customer came in telling me that there was an app that he was using that kept giving him troubles, it was a map application for truck drivers. Now, obviously, this had nothing to do with my line of work(phone salesman) and as such I normally tried to explain that and let them be, but I imagined that it was a settings issue so I reluctantly agreed to help him. I explained to him that the app was no longer maintained and that the reason for it was probably that the developer abandoned it and that he would just have to look into the app, upon closer inspection the app itself was nothing more than a wrapper over google maps with trucker icons and a "trucker" interface, he was using the app as a GPS navigator and he could as well just have been using google maps.
The conversation was like this:
Me: Well this app is no longer supported, it will probably be taken off the google store soon, you can look for something similar or just change to Google maps
Retard: What? no! I came here in order for you to fix it, Metro needs to fix their own apps!
Me (in complete disbelief): We have no control over third party apps, and even for the ones that we provide the store has no control over them. But this app is not ours and so we can't really do anything about it.
Retard: Well WTF should I do? I have been having many issues with youtube and spotify, shouldn't Metro fix their Google store?
Me: Those apps are not ours.....wait, you seem to believe that we own youtube and spotify, those are not ours
Retard: How the fuck they are not yours! its your phone isn't it?
Me: Eh no.....Metro does not(at this point I was sort of smiling because I wanted to laugh) own youtube or spotify or the play store or even this phone, metro does not own Android or Samsung(his phone was a samsung core prime)
Retard: Well You need to fix this
Me: No I do not and I can not, the developer for this app abandoned it and has nothing to do with us
Retard: Well call the developer and tell him to fix it
At this point I was on a very bad mode since this dude was being obnoxiously rude from the beginning and it annoyed me how he was asking for dumb shit.
Me: Did you pay for this app?
Me: So you expect that some developer out there will just go about and get working for something that you did not pay for?
Why don't you just use Google maps as your GPS?
Retard: Don't be stupid, Google has no maps
At this point I show him the screen where there is a lil app that said maps, pressed it and voila! map comes to life
Retard: Well....I did not know
Me: Yeah....but I am the stupid one right?
** throws phone for him to catch
Me: Have a good one bud.
And my manager was right next to me, he was just trying to control his laughter the whole time. I really despised working in there and was glad when I left. Retail man.......such a horrible fucking world.7
Biggest thing that pisses me off about windows 10 is the fact that they do not give two shits about wasting your internet, and they try to hide everything in obscure split settings, set updates to happen at a specific time sure but did your dumb ass remember to disable downloading app updates in the store? Probably not.
Heck how about we preload apps for you because you are on mobile aren't you, we know it is a desktop but we would really love to be the next android so here you go have apps all the apps.
Instead of being the foundation for things you actually intend to install we want to also give you a sample fucking 200 level tower that will take forever to demolish so you can start building the cozy cottage you do want.
I am digressing , but final thought is just that Windows can be a 1gb install since the rest of the shit is what fucktards that use a Samsung S8 just to facebook want.
Finally got around to flashing Lineage on my S5.
So smooth and no Samsung bloat! (and blob emojis)
When my company moved to the big city we all got new equipment. I selected a ThinkPad and two 24" Dell monitors. Most got themselves a MacBook pro and a 27" Samsung monitor.
Once the new great arrived I started my journey to free the poor ThinkPad from the spy-software that is windows and install Arch.
Everything went smooth until I connected both monitors via MST to the single mini Displayport. Screens flickered, flashed or started dark. Even the display inside the ThinkPad. After half a day of trying to get MST to work with the Nvidia/Intel hybrid graphic inside my ThinkPad I installed Windows on the second ssd and got some actual work done.
The next day I finally managed a static xconf that had all three displays in just the right configuration and I started to work on Linux.
The story would end here if Arch wasn't Arch and I had not installed updates when I did.
After about 6 month of happy working on Linux Paradise I updated Arch since it was overdue (two weeks without). Shit hit the fan. Cinnamon's display manager didn't like my xconf and crashed during startup. Sadly from previous experience I knew that this was the only dm that would work somewhat stable with my hardware comp. I tried to debug, created multiple issues on the various GitHub repos and invested another week into it before dropping Linux again.
I never doubted my knowledge of Linux more than during the times I tried to get MST working with Nvidia/Intel graphics on my ThinkPad.
Recently I switched to a 27" one monitor setup and I'm back on Arch without any trouble because MST isn't in the mix this time.
I guess the story had a happy end after all3
Dude i've got a Samsung laptop but i can't play any cool games what's wrong with it?
:-0 like tellin me it's a Samsung laptop is spose to mean something at the least give me a clue as how poor your laptop is.4
Thanks fot this very informative email Samsung.
I have English set as my language and I live in sweden. WHY ARE ALL THE MAILS I GET FROM THEM IN KOREAN?31
What I get to install this morning. Slowly replacing the components of my Asus laptop. So much cheaper to buy a $400 laptop with a good i7 processor and a fast bus and just replace the components yourself.11
Regional flight Sweden: "Passengers are not allowed to have a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 in their checked in luggage. If so, please inform the cabin crew"
Should one laugh or fear?6
I am a Samsung fan but Samsung just really sucks at UI. I mean seriously. What the fuck is this? I was driving and talking over Bluetooth, tried to change my volume and Samsung is like "Solve this puzzle first"11
Sat on the train to my girlfriend's house 1.5 hours away, and I'm letting a friendly stranger charge his phone from my laptop (THIS INTERCITY TURBOSTAR TRAIN HAS NO MOFO'ING SOCKETS BUT PAID WIFI) and now my computer is out I want to code.
Problem is, if I bring up vim or the terminal, I may as well bring up hackertyper and put on a ski mask, and quietly mutter 'I'm in'.
On the other side, maybe he's using his beaten up Samsung to sneakysneak into my laptop? Who knowwwssss.4
Everyone hates iPhone so much i think it is because they know it's superior and are sad about it. The comparisons people keep posting are cherry picked and misleading attempting futilely to show the iPhone in negative light. Sorting through them is getting exhausting. Let the hate begin!!
Addendum: seems like admitting the iPhone is technologically superior but you prefer the android ecosystem for reasons x and y is so easy, that it's hard to take people seriously for posting memes belligerently asserting that Samsung phones are technologically superior despite the mountain of evidence otherwise. Just looks like insecurity to an outsider. It's just a phone, not your livelihood.67
Bought a s8 only to fucking hate it again. FUCKING Bixby i dont fucking need you. FUCK you Samsung. I want Google fucking Assistant you piece of shit.15
I wasn't planning on giving Christmas presents to the people I hate until I heard about those exploding Samsung Galaxy phones 😈1
Ouuuuuu i just had the best laugh in this month.
You know samsung have presented S8 as beast device (While its not) and finally it received 8.0.
Im like wtffffff its not even the newest android.
(I do not own this device and im happy for that.)
Funny thing i own a 2013 device and its running 8.1 android based on LineageOS 15.1 with latest security patch.
And looking at the amazing dev Github reveals that P dev preview is probably already running on it and once google releases full version of android P the device will receive it in DAYS.
Now that i tell is a fucking support.
NO OEM CAN BEAT CUSTOM ROM SUPPORT.68
So I bought a smart watch to go with my Samsung Galaxy back when I was 12, and upon inspecting the watchface maker app I came across lua scripting files. This amazed me. Animations, complex math, hexadecimal color system, variables, sensors...
I spent about four months
learning/experimenting with lua until I discovered arduino and C++.
I am now 14 and have been fascinated with robotics and learned java and dos since.2
Why people like Google pixel
No wireless charging
No dual camera stuff
And now no headphones jack 😐😕
Samsung galaxy S8
And LG V30 Is far better choice11
Mobile phones are from hell >:[ Well, at least my gf's Samsung is from hell. It makes noise for anything. If someone calls, play a stupid melody. If there is a text, play a stupid melody. If its battery needs to be charged, play a stupid melody. If its battery is fully charged, play a stupid melody. Even if it's in the middle of the night and people just maybe would like to get a few minutes of sleep! What's next? Play a stupid melody when the stupid Samsung Android piece of junk wants its diaper changed? Or when it's bored? Or just needs attention? Or when it realises that the word "smart" in smart phones actually means stupid? SHUT UP!!! We don't need a tamagotchi, we already have two kids and two cats to fullfill our tamagotchying needs! Technology is supposed to make life easier, not worse FFS! No wonder so many people get stressed out these days! And you, pathetic people at Samsung, or whoever that come up with these "smart" features that deprave decent people of their sleep, now it's your turn to be woken up! WAKE UP IDIOTS! Get outside your small mobile-bound shitholes of confined fart-filled bubbles! Learn about REAL LIFE, get yourselves nagging gfs, screaming kids and a PUNCH IN YOUR FACES! Maybe that will teach you to manufacture phones that SHUT THE FUCK UP during sleeping hours!31
Samsung S9 benchmarks: slower than a 2 year old iPhone, more expensive than current:
Lately submitted an app to the App Store, it was reviewed by Apple, everything fine, I released it.
Last week I submitted an update containing some minor fixes - rejected?!
Checked the reason: Apple has a problem with the app icon (which did not change at all) showing a stylized iPhone.
Right now I'm thinking about solving this by adding a Samsung logo to the icon though..4
Intel or AMD?: Intel
nVidia or AMD?: nVidia
xBox or PlayStation?: PlayStation
HTML or C++: C++
Apple or Samsung?: OnePlus!!!!!!16
Ever since I started with websecurity I've noticed alot of people still use passwords such as 123456 or abcdef and so on. I mean is it really so damn hard to figure out a more complicated password like, "IDigAGrave34+" or "IFuckedBaTmanInTheAssetsi1369" (a very long but yet secure pass). Or just use any word you see around you and mix them like for example if you have a dell pc and a samsung screen, those two names are pretty easy to scramble around like, "desamllsung" and sprinkle some random characters above it. If it is so hard to remember just write it down on notes and hide somewhere or use the countless programs where u can store it. So please for the love of your own privacy, think when you create an account and do not use the same pass on every damn site you are on. Make it hard for the hackers and crackers out there. Sincerily, a concerned internet user.11
Is it just me or does it also bother anyone else when manufacturers pull shit like this (using Apple as example but I've also seen it from Google/Samsung).14
I don't mind Apple marketing themselves as these revolutionary thinkers and innovators, because I figured most people see behind the marketing but appreciate Apple for what it is. It's a big company that makes well built products, that are efficient and give good support to those products.
But I'm sick to death of tech journalists talking about how every new feature is the death of Android. They have to be kidding themselves if they think what Apple's doing is innovating. Samsung's been designing screens for the bezelless market for a LONG time, and their technology in that is incredibly advanced (it's why if you use their iPhone x you'll be looking at a screen from Samsung!)
They finally adopted wireless charging and pretended it was brand new, but I remember when they came out with the Apple watch, marketing it like they'd broken ground when Android Wear watches had been out for a year!
I don't want people to think I hate Apple, I own a few of their products. I think they're remarkably invested in user privacy; homekit imo is one of the most forward thinking implementations of smart home technology that I've seen, and the new processor in the iPhone x is a Mammoth powerhouse. So, I'm not necessarily saying anything about that, but what I am saying is that they're iñcredible at marketing, but fanboys but are not self-aware can enough to recognize when the Designed-by-Apple hype over shadows the actual objectivity or the situation. There are articles already talking about Apple's wireless charging.
TL;DR I swear to god if an apple fanboy comes at me saying the bezelless design was Apple's innovation, I'm going to snap. I appreciate what Apple does well, but unfortunately people can't appreciate a product without needing to identify with it.6
After 4 month of struggling I created HandTrack (https://play.google.com/store/apps/...). It worked properly on my moto x. I then tried on a Samsung gs7 and it didn't even open. That was my next 2 months. I HATE ANDROID FRAGMENTATION!!!1
Okay, in continuum with this rant:
Samsung just pm'd my boyfie...
firstname.lastname@example.org's lost device has been locked by the Samsung Find My Mobile service.
Have fun playing with the email everyone and your help is greatly appreciated ; ) ^_^7
I'm sick of people interchangeably using the terms 'Samsung', 'Google', 'Android'. As in "Oh, you don't use an iPhone, doesn't that mean your phone will blow up?"
No, my Nexus 6P will not explode. Also, there's a hell of a lot more to the Android universe than Samsung...4
Microsoft - Cortana
Apple - Siri
Samsung - BixBy
Google - Google Assistant
Amitabh Bachchan - Computer Ji2
Who is the brain-damaged engineer at Samsung that decided that a capacitive touch buttons on an induktion cooktop is the way to go. As soon a waterdrop falls on any button the stove goes "FUCK IT, I'M OUT" and shut itselfs off for about 30 seconds.
How wonderful when you have 4 different pots that must have different temperatures and you must use each [+] - button sequentially because the idiot engineer was to lazy to make the input be able to handle several buttons at once!
Stupid idiot engineer and QA department!2
My goal in life as an android man: convert every single person I can from Samsung or iPhone to either pixel or Nexus
Converted 3 so far and they all say they won't go back to modifed Android or iOS :-D20
Most of us are developers and programmers. What kind of computer(s) are you working with? Notebooks, PCs, Workstations, Ultrabooks, you name it.
I'm working on an almost 3 year-old Samsung Ultrabook with an i7 CPU, a crappy 1gb Radeon graphics card, 16gb RAM and a 256gb SSD drive that still works flawlessly, running Linux Mint 18 XFCE.13
went from verizon's ludicrous 210 a month to 165 for 2 lines with t mobile...threw in a samsung s9 for myself, wife will keep her iphone7s plus and I am a happy camper. Why didn't I do this sooner? because fuck me I am an idiot......1
That moment when you don't have the right screwdriver and you have to fuck up the whole phone in order to disassemble it.5
My oldies, they take me back. It's actually amazing I got my hands on a prototype for an LG phone from way back. It was never released to public. Android is in my roots...2
TIL that you can plug a mouse and keyboard into a Samsung phone and use it to interact with it like you would your finger. Now before you say this is such a useless feature, because of this, I was able to recover my backup from my screen shattered phone (really fucked it up so touch quit working) , and transfer it to another phone in a matter of minutes. To whoever thought of this, thank you so much :).1
I bought a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge from my cousin for $450. I then proceeded to root it and everything was fine for a week or so before my phone went into an infinite boot loop after an OTA update.
In the process of trying to fix it, I accidentally flashed a bootloader, unaware that Samsung has the bootloader locked. As a result, I had a completely bricked phone.
I mean legit bricked. No buttons with work and the screen remained shut and I couldn't flash anything over it again to try to repair it. I couldn't even put the phone into recovery mode. I now had the world's most expensive paperweight.
However, I managed to convince Samsung to repair it for me for free! I told them that the phone just stopped responding after an OTA update from them, which isn't so far from the truth.
I only ever had to flash things on the phone to begin with because of their update. Honestly, I wouldn't has had to deal with this problem, and neither would Samsung, if they just didn't lock the damn bootloader! Why are these companies taking away are independent control of our own devices?
Moral of the story: DON'T flash over a locked bootloader EVER or you will end up with a completely brick device, with no solution other than to open it up and replace the motherboard entirely.11
I am trying to find a good time for my phone. But there don't seem to be any.
Does anyone mind helping me find one? Or have any suggestions?
(Preferably lineage os)
My device info:
Samsung A5 (2017)
Time for another Location based social networking service by Samsung.
It seems to be preinstalled in Galaxy S9 phones.
Seems nice, right? (smirks)

So, i bought samsung 850 evo 250gb, and i noticed that performance is lower then it supposed to be (according to userbenchmark and crystal disc mark), drive is pluged into sata 3 port and samsung rapid technology shows up as unavalible. I havent researched this problam yet.
Any of you have idea whats wrong?14
I think i like the new Galaxy S8.
I will probably buy it. But, even thinking of buying such an expensive phone makes me feel guilty.
Maybe it's because i can barely afford it..
I guess i have to live with this guilt :/13
My tablet that I had all my code for an app just took a shit out of no where it was never dropped not even a scratch it just went black and well never went back fuck my entire existence9
Just realized my next comback to PM:
No, we can't deliver yet, we need further testing before we are ready. I mean we don't want to end up in a situation similar to exploding batteries right?3
Some birds told me Galaxy S9 is really good.
Googled it, and found something more interesting.
PS: this is the 3rd largest mobile server provider in NZ
Use development code in production.
Nice work guys!2
Dropped my trusty old Note 2 backup device this morning and it just keeps on ticking. No smoke just a nasty cracked screen. Sort of gives it character 😊1
Google and Microsoft will now participate in the Docs at the Mozilla site
The most horrifying thing for any Android Dev:
The client wants to build a media app and owns a Samsung device!!!1
Back when every mobile company had a different charger it made sense to say Nokia charger or Sony Ericsson charger.
But ever since micro usb became standard, I cringe when I ask for a micro usb charger and idiots say they have a Samsung charger not a Motorola one.
Seriously? How much do you have to think to realize if a charger works for many brands of phones it can't be a Samsung charger?7
Why the fuck does Samsung Hub which I don't want on my device, keeps installing Peel Smart Remote TV Guide, what ever that shit is on my device.
Have deleted it 3 times since yesterday and it keeps installing it.4
Rant at samsung tablet design. Those fucking touch buttons are shit. How the fuck am i supposed to hold my tablet comfortably in landscape mode when every 5 fucking seconds i accidentally press the buttons? This design has no place on any device larger than 6". From now on its physical buttons or on screen only. They dont even provide a simple non-hacky root method to turn them the fuck off and replace with on screen android buttons.
I really enjoy having a tablet and i find them incredibly useful. My only problem im having is that i seem to ALWAYS press something by accident. If its not my hand touching the samsung buttons its my headphone cable gently brushing against the screen.
I need to write an app that will lock out all input to my device until i do a certain gesture on the screen, something that cant easily be mistaken like a 4 finger infinity 😂😂2
Was trying to figure out why the code coverage tool always reports 0% on my android tests. Turns out that is specific to newer samsung phones and it reports the coverage correctly on other phones.
Good old samsung, annoying devs since 2009!
My desk/room setup
An Asus A555LF connected to an Acer LCD Monitor and a Samsung Smart TV connected wirelessly(Intel Wi-di) dual boots to Ubuntu 15.04 and Windows 8.1.
worst documentation ever => Samsung TV app documentation.
it is so rare that you find a function that actually works. sometimes you find a description about the function but it is in korean language.
Is there any reason why should I buy Samsung 960 Evo instead 850 Evo?
960 Evo has ~4 times faster sequential speeds but is 40$ more expensive then 850 Evo (I'm talking bout 250gb options)
I doubt that I would see any difference in normal use case/build times. Or am I wrong?
Would it be better idea using those 40$ on more ram for caching or even saving projects on ramdisk?16
Curious as to reasons why people buy a certain phone over another. I was watching some phone reviews and they were treating phones not having nfc, wireless charging, or dust/waterproofing as being plebian scum shit tier with no hopes of redemption or place in existence.
Personally I've never used nfc on a phone nor do I see myself using it and don't really see the extra cost of all the *insert word here* proofing as being worth it. Literally have had thin skinny tpu cases on all my phones and a screen protector and they've survived drops and drops of rain on it. Thanks to Samsung commercials(amongst others) now some people apparently think it's an everyday common thing to shower with your phone, take under water pool videos, or football throw your phone into a mud pile in a rain storm like it's an accidental drop and it'll be ok because you NEED THESE GODDAM FEATURES FAMALAM.
In addition wireless charging seems like a stupid fuckin concept all the way since it was included with the failure piece of shit that was the galaxy s6.
Logic: let's use a phone charger but connect it to a puck that charges slower than a direct connection because f u t u r e.
To top things off "top tier flagships" have shit tier battery capacity. "Oh here's a super powersave mode that turns off all connectivity, background processes thus rendering your phone useless but we can now say it CAN last up to 2 days".. there's manufacturers putting 5000mah batteries in phones and still making it as thin if not thinner than these flagships(Asus and Lenovo off the top of my head).
Lastly, the build quality bs is just as bad in hype. Sure I can understand people getting metal/aluminum backing as opposed to plastic but glass.. and also different color backings are beyond potato in actuality.
Expectation:*Perfectly clean and modeled phone with glass back reflecting cool colors and shit*
Reality: *Fat sloppy oily fingerprints coating everything making it look even worse than if it was matte color.*
Case and point: I traded in a Nexus 5x which was overheating and a timebomb for bootlooping issue for a Moto x4 through project fi. Figured id get the blue one because I've had darl/black phones almost always. It's glass back is a goddam fingerprint magnet and no matter what they say about gorilla glass durability the shit still will scratch and dent if dropped without a case. *ENTER TPU CASE* Glossy see through case is slippery as fuck. So I reverted back to a black matte back case totally hiding the glass and color design which again defeats the purpose of buying special edition color phones or with fancy build materials..11
Someone just noticed that I have a OnePlus 5. And then she asked me:
Would you compare it to an iPhone or a Samsung?6
To many "Quantum" this days: Firefox Quantum, Samsung TV Quantum, Quantum computer.......wait does that last one count??7
So I just acquired a Samsung galaxy S3 running Android 4.3 with Clockwork mod recovery off friend, and last night it ran out of battery. Then I tried charging it. It's not charging or turning on. Any ideas what's going off?8
I wanted to rant that my stickers look so good that I can't get shit done!
The last of my stickers made it to my Hackintosh.0 setup.
It's pretty quick:
2x240gb RAID 0 SSD
1x240gb Main OS SSD
3.73 ghz Core i7
32gb DDR3 RAM
Nvidia 4gb 660 GT
40" Samsung UHD Smart TV
Unicomp 104 Key Model M Buckling Spring Keyboard (Mac Keycaps)
Razer Deathadder Mouse4
It drives me nuts when people compare iPhones to Samsung, not realizing that Samsung did not invent Android, nor are they the only phone manufacturer or Android OS distributor.
If you're comparing iOS to Android, that's one thing. Or if you are comparing iPhone's hardware to a specific Samsung phone's hardware, I get it. Heck, I'm cool if you compare the iPhone X to the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, because they're similar in price. But don't say that Apple is better than Samsung when you mean you have an issue with Android, or your battery life on your $300 Android device wasn't as good as your $700 iPhone. Apples to oranges guys! It's like comparing Visual Studio 2015 to Python.
I don't care who is right or which is better. At least know what you're comparing!
Not advocating for Apple, but the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and even the Google Pixel 2 XL are not that much less expensive than the iPhone X and nobody complains about the price of those.9
@dfox : it looks like that there might be a bug in viewing profiles with less than 5 rants.
Android version 6.0.1 Samsung s7
1.) Click on a user profile with a low number of rants
2.) Scroll to the bottom of the list
3.) The user is unable to scroll up.12
Hey guys! I want to purchase a new phone. I owned an Asus zenfone2 and was happy with it. I want and android phone with at least 4 gb of ram and a decent chipset. I am not interested in samsung s8 google pixel or such. I was looking into oneplus 3 or 5 or lg g6. Could you provide some suggestions?9
Windows 10 Fall Creator Update (1709) is not supporting Samsung SSD 960 Pro M.2 right now.
Always when I try to update it, I get at the start a blue screen with Boot Device not detected. (Error 0xc00000bb)
Thought ok, let's try the update assistens - Nope
Tried to only boot on my M.2 - Nope NOPE
Tried to install upgrade it over a direct Image - Fuck you MoBo, ain't gonna work.
Googled around and everybody with a Samsung 960 Pro have this problem with the update 1709.
Who dafuq test this things at Microsoft? They are forgetting over the bit more expensive customers with a higher end Rigs.
FUCK YOU MICROSOFT AND WINDOWS TOGETHER. Im gonna bury you under water with in a fucking bolder.8
Not really a devs rant.
I ordered a HDD from samsung with more storage online. Today I wanted to replace it. When i took it out i was shortly confused, which one i had to insert, so i though the one with Samsung label had to be it.
Well, it wasn't1
I really miss the android Gingerbread of my Samsung galaxy Y phone.
I still wish to have a plain and simple device for myself.
Pro tip: Never test old HDDs with one of those Samsung USB3 to SATA adapters. Always use a test bench with real connectors. It might save you a few believed to be dead HDDs.4
Why is the Samsung Galaxy S8 generating so much hype even though it's just an inferior copy of the LG G6...6
Im so fed up with this Huawei p9 Lite.
I bought this phone about a year ago.
And since I got it, it was slow as fuck. The screen needs about 10 sec to turn, I dont use snapchat much but having to restart the app 4 times and then maybe have the chance to take a snap bevore it freezes clearly sucks. And heres the fun part. With this unfinished buggy Cyanogen mod installed on the huawei, it's literally 2x faster. The mod unfortunatly fails to read my SIM card after 5 minutes and needs a reboot to redetect it which sucks. It Amazes me how shitty EMUI is (im using the beta 5.0 version on it as it runs "faster" than the 4.0 one).
I'll be buying a new phone soon. Probably a new Samsung or a Oneplus5.
Does anyone else have problems with theyr p9 lite's?22
Why the hell does my Samsung phone prevent me from uninstalling the Facebook app and instead offers me to disable it? WTF, NO, i want it freakin gone.
Bitch, Visibility: Hidden & Visibility: Gone are two different things.4
@alexdovzhanyn and I just released the third episode of Runtimerror Live!
We talk about various things like the DynDDoS attack, recursion and much more.
We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed recording it :)1
Samsung make such shit phones. My 2 month old s8 completely locked up for about 5 hours today with cpu on 100%. You would get burnes if you touched it. The only apps I have are, instagram, FF, snap, devRant. Smh.11
WTF WTF WTF
FUCK YOU SAMSUNG NOTE 8 NOTES APP
FYI : I was ex iPhone user.
I bought a new Samsung note 8 mobile. It has Easy Do app simillar to Notes.
So I had a meeting with business meetup with potential ideas and leads. And i was writing on this Notes app.
After the meetimg done, I closed the app.
And next day (today) I wanted to check what I have got from meetings. And fucking found that this app does not save it until you press save button.
Okay. I AGREE MAY BE MY FAULT, BUT THAT FUCKING APP SHOULD HAVE ASKED ME WHETHER I WANTED TO SAVE IT OR NOT THE SIMPLEST NOTEPAD WILL DO EVEN YOU TRY TO CLOSE IT.
FUCK IT THAT APP.13
So after having a rather shit day at work I notice that my phone (samsung s7 edge) is at 50% and indecide to fast charge it...then i notice it "Fast charging, 55 minutes till ready" great....fucking....great. please don't tell me that the battery is fuckd up...i really do not need this
Me: *opens YouTube to catch up on WMC but see's 40 videos on the S9 and nothing else*
Also me: *closes YouTube and hopes for some actuall news tomorrow*2
After 6 years of android I just rooted my samsung, how could I have missed the glory of root features for so long...2
Is it just me or is what susspose to be the tech giants, making more and more n00b mistakes lately... Apple's latest update "best release of iOS yet" bricks the phone, Samsung phones are blowing up...
Things are continously prematurely released to try and beat everybody in the market place which just leads to unimpressive and dangerous product releases.3
I just realized the security app I'm writing has some fundamental limitations that will essentially kill my implementation and the code I've been working on the last two weeks! Fuck!3
DUPLiCATED SEE COMMENTS
Bug, my feed is full of rants I already upvoted, and reloading it doesn't change the feed, I am on algo mode btw
My phone is a Samsung Galaxy grand prime Android 58
An eventful day:
Because of my recent amateur thermopaste application onto a heatpipe that connects a laptop CPU and a discrete GPU and *ingenious* HP ProBook engineering my Radeon graphics have fried yesterday.
On the bright side, got the Nougat update for my Samsung S6, with bright hopes that it will help restore the state of an unresponsive fingerprint scanner... nope, that is still broken.
Summer is near, exams finished, time for some DIY on used and abused tech! :D2
Alright so when I take over the world in my dreams I will burn all non modifiable devices (so many new Samsung phones and every Mac product, though that is for separate reasons, etc) in a cleansing blaze. And possibly their owners because they are witches, but the church of Aquarius has yet to ratify an official position on witchcraft. Also we are fairly green so the cleansing fire is more symbolic than anything.
Anyway, QUICK. Someone give me a good name for my controlled purge/culling. Bonus points for dramatic sounding names that are secretly punny/funny (haha inside jokes in dark times). This definitely isn't for a novel that I don't want to give you any credit for.1
I have a problem with my Samsung galaxy S7 since the last update. When a friend share me a devrant link thought SMS it will open the link inside the Samsung internet browser not with the devRant application.5
Not completely a dev thing. But now days it seems like everyone is either an audiophile or a master at phone design. Like for REAL! What do you want???
This sounds like crap (has HD Sound)
This looks ugly (any and every phone)
It seems like there a lot of trolls that just go to events they really don't like... Why do Samsung Fans watch Apple events??
You dont see vegans going to every meet market they see.... Like for real.....
"Oh so you're a computer genius. Can you unlock my phone? It's locked into some random network. The phone is Android and it's Samsung"2
Playing ME:A, game froze, alt-tab out to try and close it, can see my mouse moving around but the screen the game is playing on is staying black. Whatever, shit happens, I'll just hard power off and reboot.
Powered down, push the power button, SSD isn't booting, being sent to BIOS. "Oh no."
SSD isn't listed in available boot options. "Shit." Checked the cables and what not, nothing, pretty sure it died on me. Go to Fry's to get a new 960 EVO m.2, sold out, go to the other one 30mins away that says it has one in stock, it doesn't either. 😧
Guess I'm ordering one online, Amazon says 1-3 weeks even with Prime, Samsung website says 1-3 days but no rush delivery.
Guess I'm computer-less for a while. (Unless I find something else before end of day)6
Whelp, I made the switch to android about a week ago. Didn't go two days without getting malware on it. I only browse hacker news and used devRant, standard messaging app, no root, so no shady things, just fairly standard things besides devRant. When I called Samsung support, they said it was a known issue and sent me some links to some forums where people were having the same issues. After digging through those threads, there was an official answer from Samsung saying they weren't going to fix the issue (at least in any foreseeable future). That's unacceptable for a phone that was released less than a year ago.
I'm done with Samsung phones for good. I might come back to Android on a google phone.
I hate how Android is distributed and the manufacturers don't take ownership of their issues. They just work on the new phone without caring for anything older than 6 months. If I had to get a new phone every time a major security issue was found and the company refused to fix it, I'd spend more money than on an iPhone.
It seems like Google keeps their devices up to date better, presumably because they have better control of OS releases. But non-google Android devices are dead to me.
Back to my iPhone for now...

I have to test my App on a Samsung Galaxy Young 2. Can someone please shoot me?
It took over 3 minutes to install the APK and now it can't even get an IP from our AP. 😐4
So my aunt called because her phone had ran out of storage as she had "by mistake" disabled Play Store,WhatsApp, Browser, Chrome and every other fucking app, and she had to install WhatsApp back. After an hour of struggle explaining her to move her songs to memory card, enabling Chrome and Play Store, installing WhatsApp, I have started to lose faith from humaninty.
To make things worse, every Android phone manafacturer feels obligatory to change the settings app as per their wish and I didn't have a clue where the settings to enable apps were on her phone.
And I had to do all this through a phone call
And I can't say "No"
There should be a button in Android: I'm too dumb for all this stuff4
Is there any big technology company that releases good products? Google was good, now i find bugs in everything. Same goes for cr-apple, Facebook, motorola, samsung, lg, htc.
currently in the mood for rooting my phone again (samsung galxaxy s6 edge).
any good ROM recommendations?7
Samsung phones. I test my apps in an emulator instead. (I'm a student and I can't afford a new phone. I have what I get. But at least I get something so I should be happy.)
Has anyone got experience setting up a wallboard? What device would you recommend?
We use Klipfolio (which is great!) and I have a spare Samsung TV. I don't have a spare PC but could create a VM on the internal network for Chromecast etc. A raspberry pi is also an option. Chromebit looks good but very hard to find in the UK.4
Iphone 8, 8+ and X. Rants anyone🤷🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️? I'm just pissed they're trying to imitate Samsung and still claiming "new feature"😒
So... My Nexus 5X died few hours ago, i have no clue what happened. Tried to google it, found a lot of people have same problem, most of it said it was Samsung eMMC problem that need to blow with heat air. I just realized, how the fcuk Samsung's things screwed up my LG Nexus 5X from inside! Very Interesting Weekend 😵5
I got the Note 7 a couple weeks ago (the reissue). Now, as you all know it's blowing up again. So, I went to return it but they said no. No? They said I can only get another Note and that will take 4 weeks. Seriously. So the options:
1. Have no phone for a month
2. Blow up
I think I'm edging towards blowing up.2
Ooowww damn!!!!!!!!!...........I just updated this Samsung Galaxy Over The Air and I Can't root it.....2
Either I'm so unlucky, or Samsung VR gear is the junkiest thing in the world, I've been to over 15 stores (including official Samsung) hoping to try it, and they're always "temporarily" out of service2
Just got explicitly told to turn off any Samsung Galaxy Note 7 devices in the usually generic pre-flight "Turn to flight mode" announcement 😂😂
Updated Android on my phone and I was looking for a full minute where's my music app... to find it's now called "Samsung Music" -.- what a great idea...
I'm a software developer but my phone is 4 year old..with the only updated rom is cm 11.2 nightly build
Full hardware qwerty FTW!
Samsung relay s 4g, the last of a kind.6
Does anyone have first hand use exp with the Nextbit Robin?
My current phone (Samsung Note Edge) is currently really glitchy and sometimes the touchscreen goes black, so that leads me to thinking about getting a new phone, the Robin.
I just wanted an unfiltered review.
That moment when you want to use a perfectly good 128Gb card to store your Netflix downloads and the tablet seems that had SD Card amenesia and forgot how to format the cards
Is it just me or is the Android Storage Access Layer completely fucked up?
All I want to do is upload an image in 3 sizes (one of them 4k, if available), the correct orientation, on devices >= Android 2.1 (yes, including Samsung crap), without 100m of libraries to an S3 bucket and I need a PHD + an Armada of physical test devices to do so? WTF?

What do you think about Samsung device list for latest android version support? it doesn't apply to my Galaxy S5... yeah I know Rooting is an option, but officially? never? are we stucked at that version?1
Nokia to resurrect 3110 model!! They have announced 3 other smart phones too. But no android tie up in place. It's a big gamble, fingers crossed for Nokia!
Don't disappoint us!!!7
I'm wondering how you guys can use a laptop with keyboard that lacks something as crucial as numpad. Was it hard to get used to not having it? I'd love to replace my old Samsung Ativ Book 2 (that monstrous i3...) for a Dell XPS or something similar but seeing that it hasn't a numpad makes me wanna cry.
I'd love to hear from you, how is your experience without numpad and how long did it take to get used to.4
My home pc has developed a sudden issue and wont boot up anymore.
Stays stuck on the POST phase and am unable to get into BIOS , just stuck with a big asus logo and a message to press
F2 or Delete to get into BIOS but the system seems frozen as the keyboard lights are on but unresponsive while the
Mobo reads an error code A2
( the manual claims that to be an IDE error although am using only SATA)
Unplugging all usb doesnt change anything.
Unplugging all other sata ssd ,hdd and disk drives except the os drive changes nothing.
Unplugging the os drive results in the system complaining about no bootmgr
(As expected), that allows me to at least look at the BIOS but there doesnt seem to be anything wrong or out of the ordinary..
Booting from a live cd works fine
Booted from a pc boot repair tool and plugged in the os drive into one of the hot swappable sata ports shows me the all the files still there and accessible , check disk revealed nothing wrong. Can't plug in the os drive pre boot as that locks everything up again)
Tried to boot with a windows cd then do a start up repair but plugging in the os drive into the hot swappable sata doesn't work since windows can't see the drive.
Tried to swap the os drive with another one of exact same model filled witb random files resulted in no boot mgr error as expected
Struggled a whole weekend to fix it but alas no progress
Ah and the OS drive's warranty ran out 2 weeks ago 😑
Mobo asus p9x79 deluxe
Os ssd samsung 840 250 gb
No changes in hardware for the last year
No BIOS changes in over a year
I did notice some odd files like 0002Found
On the os drive when i was using the boot repair live cd tool, will bring the drive to
The office where i can get my hands on an ssd sata to usb caddy and take a snapshot of The files there for you guys to see.
Any ideas ? 😞5
Testing Samsung Gear VR and wondering why the software does not work on my Samsung Galaxy S7 edge ... find out that its only work when the com.facebook.appmanager is not deactivated WTF why????!!!!!
Spent the day helping someone troubleshoot why they can't print from their Samsung tablet, because somehow as a DBA I "know how to do that stuff." Never figured out why it wasn't working.
As developers, did anyone here get Bixby Voice early access? If so, what do you think it? How difficult is it to implement something with this level of control?1
So I just made a deal. I am selling my Galaxy S5 16gb + 16gb mem stick, which is in excellent condition along, with the original flip case and a Spigen slim armor case and a protective screen, for 150€.
I'm replacing it with a Galaxy S6 32gb with a slim case and protective glass along with new headphones and also in excellent condition, for 200€.
For 50€ as true cost to go from S5 to S6, I think it's a pretty decent bargain people and also a nice upgrade. What do you people think?

Before I dig deep and pick the minds on S/O, I'm trying to test an app (Cordova) on my wife's phone (Samsung/Android 7) - the feature I'm testing works fine on mine (Huawei/Android 8).
Where it seems to be faulty is making a WebSocket connection to my server - is there any known issues people are aware of? Recent security updates or something?
I'd jump straight on to USB debugging, but last time I tried to do this on Samsung, it simply failed to show up as a known device - tried loads of drivers...1
Hey guys, looking for a new monitor in range of 200-300$. Looking at dell and samsung. Has to be 27”
Can you suggest any good ones (thin bazels if possible).
That GPD Pocket looks nice. Just needs to reformat to Linux and it's perfect. Beats Samsung Galaxy S8 and Dex Station all the way
On my way for a weekend trip, hearing the flight attendants announce 5 or 6 times about how the Samsung Note 7 is banned.
Ok, there is one good thing. I've reached 333 +1's. Thank you all guys!
Sooo... a few days ago my Power supply from my home pc died. It was a good one, but I don't know.. it just burned nearly..
Today I've received a new one.
Plugged everything in. PC runs - or not?? WTF! Windows (yeah, at home still Windows ) isn't booting anymore. Hardware changes detected. I think, through the broken Power supply something got damaged.. shit.. and know what - don't have any Backup. Shit. At least some important data is on another hdd, which hopefully is fine. Now I'm trying to rescue the data with another hdd installing a fresh Windows.
Whish me luck!
PS: No, the power supply wasn't from Samsung, even when it exploded nearly :P1
My Samsung s6 just broke last week
