Shit... I just got my phone stolen. Realized it 40 seconds post factum [left it at the shop counter and someone took it].
20 minutes later called the police [cuz I had to get home and use wife's phone].
5 min later poluce arrived
10 min later they got all they could from shop's security officer.
Police officer asks me to login my samsung acc on his phone. 2 minutes later we are on the way to the exact location my phone is at.
15 minutes later officer hands me my samsung 😁
got my phone back in less than an hour after theft.
maybe... Ummm... Maybe all this tracking thing is not that bad...?18
No, I'm not hacking.
No Linux is not a movie.
No, you are not a developer because you can put "Hello World" on a website.
No, this isn't a waste of my time.
Yes, I will use it.
Yes, I'll make you a website for free. NOT!
Your phone is both Android and Samsung.
No, what they did in the movie is impossible.
No, I can't predict the stock market.
No, I'm not Mr. Robot, but I know him...6
Today, Samsung placed an two A4 page ad in a local free newspaper, in which they describe since when they implemented the features from the new iphone24
My smartphone specifications list
1. Should come with 3.5 mm jack
2. No exploding battery please.15

"You're good with custom ROMs right?"
"Uuuh... Well, perhaps"
"Is it possible to install Windows on a Samsung tablet?"

Translation: My Samsung picture app wants to be allowed to make and receive phone calls...
WHY IN THE FLYING FUCK DOES MY STOCK GALERY APP NEED TO MAKE PHONE CALLS????21
So, my boyfriend's phone was stolen and my Google Drive account was synced on that phone. Also noticed that someone attempted to change my Gmail account. That dimwit does not know to whom he's messing with. Huh! I'm going to hunt that son of a gun and will make his life be tormented in hell! Muhuhuhahahahaha!19
was thinking of buying an s8, but fuck samsung.
price of ssl certificate: about $15
price of samsung: about $254,000,000,00025
Ranting about a meme lol
This type of shit is what I fucking hate most iPhone users.
Samsung was founded in 1938... Apple was founded in 1976.
Most iPhone users are a walking L these days with their ignorance and false sense of superiority. Fucking assholes24
I've asked a friend for a charging cable, he asked if I need a Samsung or a IPhone one. He ended up totally confused when I asked him for a Type C one.10
Looking at the amount of Samsung Note 7 rants, I have to restore the balance with some classic Iphone bashing ;)4
They basically have Chinese crapware on many phones, disguised as "Smart Manager" or some bs. It's "powered by Clean Master". Clean Master is crapware developed by Cheetah Mobile.10
Today I learnt that my LG Nexus 5X uses a Samsung manufactured DRAM :O
I had no idea that several Google and Apple devices use Samsung manufactured RAM chips!
PS - Don't judge me, I'm a hardware noob.17
*after 4 hours of trying to debug a crash on the samsung s8 specifically, without a single error or log showing*
Me: reckon jumping out the window from this height will be a good alternative to continueing with this?
Colleague: sure, atleast it will probably be painless at the least.
New intern: *stares at us with wide open eyes*
Me: yeah take a good look son, this is the future you've signed up for.
The look on his face? Priceless1
I'll buy an oar.
Not a boat with two of them, just an oar.
And slap every idiot who comes near to me again trying to convince me how Apple products are innovative. Every feature mentioned I had on my phone at least for 5years. And if not on my phone, Nexus or another Samsung had it already for a long time. Hell, Samsungs even started exploding sooner!
What is it with those Apple snowflakes trying to be something special? Yes you are special! You piss me of in a matter of nanoseconds.8
After almost 3 years of hard work here’s my Bedroom setup. I produce music as a hobby in addition to dev’ing and 3d graphics(blender/VR/opengl) stuff. Sorry for the unmade bed 😅. Build my first custom pc last October

Yesterday in the flight I was travelling announcement: passengers carrying Samsung galaxy note 7 must switch off at all times and must not charge their phones!!2
At the Samsung store:
Woman looking for a phone: Can you recommend me a phone by a picture of me?
Seller: Why not, show me the picture.
The woman shows https://devrant.io/rants/728524/... and the seller starts looking for something.
The woman asks: What are you looking for?
Seller: Note 7.1
I stayed at a hotel called "Crowne Royal Plaza" for a work event in Denver. The TV in the room was a nice new '50 Samsung. Much to my dismay I discovered they had disabled the ability to change the input to HDMI. I called the front desk to compain and the pesent who answered the phone had the nerve to tell me that feature had been disabled because it was "illegal". I laughed histarically and explained the reason was actually to try and force customers to buy shitty pay-per-view content, to which he replied, "Probably".
We must put an end to such blantant disregard for hardware and software freedom. This is beyond uneccaptable. I am completely and utterly disgusted by such slimy business practices.
To the management of the Crowne Royal Plaza, from the bottom of my heart, fuck you and burn in the deapest, darkest part of hell, you scum sucking dick fucks!8
Samsung's sending a “Note 7 Return Kit” with a Thermally-Insulated Box and Safety Gloves!!
2 mins silence to all those who purchased the note 7 😐5
Dual 27" Dell 4K HDR monitors, plus a Samsung 1080p and the retina display. My poor 2015 MacBook Pro with a Radeon R9 M370X 2GB can barely handle it. But there's just so much resolution that it's totally worth it!10
Doesn't it look like Bixby(New virtual assistant from Samsung) logo got inspired a bit from Clippy(Microsoft office assistant)?
Or is it only me?6
My "new desktop PC".
6 core xeon CPU with hyperthreading x2 (24 virtual cores) over clocked to 3.9ghz
128gb ddr3 ecc ram
256gb SCSI hard drives in RAID 0
256 Samsung ssd
AMD r9 something something 8gb ddr5 vram gpu
Got it for £120 on eBay (except for the ssd and gpu). Still missing a sound card :(
I have no idea on what to use it yet except for development but I thought it'd be cool to build a pretty good "desktop pc" for around £350-£400.14
Just got a new TV, 4K... it’s one of those smart ones, by Samsung.
Anyone want to explain what the fuck “McAfee Security for TV” is, and why the fuck it is necessary!?
What kind, of absolute waster madman goes “I know what I’ma do today, write a virus for a tv”!?
Take that shit elsewhere McAfee.
Now accepting any links to known Smart TV 0-days and attacks...
And I had to sign in to 5 different fucking accounts to get to the fucking tv.
The world is broke as fuck. Roll on the apocalypse.36
“There’s too many Firefox quantum rants...”
Lemme let you in on a little secret:
It’s nothing new, get over it.
Apple released a new phone.
Samsung or Google releases a phone.
Do any of you see a common theme? It’s the same people posting three metric fuck tons of posts about recent news. Wow, a tech person sharing tech news, imagine that. It’s just a phase, we all notice it. It’ll go away. Thanks. Have a nice day.13
The note 7 fiasco makes me very thankful to be working on software for internal applications. I introduce a bug, and there's an obnoxious error dialog a user needs to click out of. Samsung introduces a bug and phones start exploding.4
Since everyone is posting their system, I'll do it now, too:
- Type: Laptop
- Age: about 5 years
- Weight: 2-3 kg (too much)
- Modifications: Paper below problematic keys; Samsung Evo 850 250GB SSD
- Usecase: School-Laptop with every Office-Suite I could find.
- Pros: Wrecks my PC with the boottime (Gnome > KDE); Looks really sick; Really lightweight Arch installed; Quiet when not under load
- Cons: Really heavy; Battery old and unreliable; Bluetooth stops working after closing lid13
F*cking Samsung's alarm clock.
I really needed to wake up early today so I added secondary alarm little bit earlier. It was supposed to ring at 5:20 and second one shall ring 5:30. But Samsung said no.
Update came thru night and phone was restarted in process. Why it can't keep memory unlocked I don't understand, but OK. But it effectively means it was not able to trigger alarm clock. So I woke up at 6:35 and came more than hour late.
Why such basic functionality failed? My old Sony Erricsson T290i can ring even when powered down. Same as my Nokia and after that Lumia with Windows Phone 10. Why can't Samsung just be normal.12
Everyone given the iPhone a hard time over no headphone jack, while Samsungs are exploding.
- living with an adapter
- living with chargrilled testicles
Dear Samsung phones... And LG phones... Well, to that matter - iPhones as well...
YOU. DIE. NOW!
All of you and that disgusting, abominable, repugnant shit you call a platform.
Go to the freaking hell, and then in there find another hell and go there too.
Samsung, you tell me: How come it takes me ONE fucking script and 10 minutes of my time to build a project that consists of:
3 Node.js servers
1 ASP.NET core server
Backup provider server
and this all builds into 10 docker containers.
Yes, my dear Samsung, it takes 10 minutes and after 10 minutes I'm getting - plop - one script. I'm running that script on the client's server and in 4 minutes my client is very happy with my own proprietary awesome software that does what my client needs.
And listen Samsung: There is such a thing as a Windows Domain controller. And I spend several years of my life administering those domains. And you know what? After 10 minutes of configs I can make all of my computers to change their wallpapers to display a corporate logo on the screen. Takes only 10 minutes and I don't have to touch users computers. It's doing it's shit automatically.
But now tell me my dear Samsung, how the fuck it happens that one little dweeb would come to me with one of your precious Galaxy S8s would kill 5 hours of my time?!
WHAT. THE. F?
Dweeb: Can you please help me to change my phone? I got a new model?
Me: Sure! (probably would take me like 5 sec, and I like to help people)
Dweeb: Here is my old On5, and here is my new *sigh* SGS8
Me: Ok, let's look at that...
Downloads Smart Switch on the PC.
Try to pull the data from On5 to the PC. Does not work - just hangs there
20 minutes later:
Find a USB adapter and try to copy the data from smartphone to smartphone. Hangs again
20 minutes later:
Export the contacts to the phone memory as vCard and recover them on the new phone - crashes the phone.
20 minutes later:
Find out that the fucking On5 did not export the contacts correctly and the file is damaged.
Spend 20 more minutes in vim to write a script that would patch up the file.
Recover the contacts on the new phone and found out that all photos of the contacts were lost.
*fuck those photos*
Ok, now let's copy the rest. Copy all the documents and other shit like that.
Spend 30 minutes on the phone with my favorite phone provider to swap the phones. (You think you could just swap a sim? No, we don't do that in here! Welcome to USA - sit on the phone with a provider for 30 minutes to swap the number between phones)
Dweeb: Oh, but where are my notes from notes app?
Me: What app? *Ugh, shit. I don't want to help anyone anymore...*
And that's not it, folks! You want to install a trusted root certification authority on your device for a corporate proxy? Well, let's see:
Windows -> Download the cert, Open it, next, next, current user, trusted root certification auth... Done
Linux -> cd /etc/ssl-certificates && wget http://address.com/cert.crt && update-ca-certificates
Mac -> Keychain access -> add certificate -> full trust
Samsung -> Click on the cert, select install and say yes... AND THAN FIND OUT THAT THAT DOES NOT DO SHIT, BECAUSE YOU JUST CAN'T INSTALL THE CERT ON ANDROID>6.0 CAUSE OF THE SECURITY ISSUES. IT JUST WON'T WORK AT ALL.
So my dear user, do you want corporate Wi-Fi in the building? Go screw yourself! You got yourself a device that does not support it. And I don't care if you had paid $1500 for your gleaming S8 with the screen resolution greater than anything I've ever seen before and all that shit. You can't, just can't use the Wi-Fi cause that piece of shit does not accept my certificate.
And if you want tech support - go to Provider's store 5 blocks away and complain to the baboons in there about the fact that your notes app is not working on the new phone.
And you think you can easily deploy a corporate app to a users phones with that Samsung KNOX? NO! You could probably get 2 sleepless nights trying to figure out why the hell this app does not arrive to a thousands of phones...
And you think you can easily write an app that would do what you need? NO! You can't enforce enterprise app permissions on the phones remotely!
And you think you can just change settings on the phones remotely? NO! You would end up going to each phone and manually refresh policies.
And welcome to hell - you will find out that even those policy refreshes would not apply all the rules you want. No, you would have to unenroll the phone, uninstall the app, reboot the phone and reinstall everything and then re-enroll the phone. Fuck, it takes about 1 hour to do that. Per. Fucking. Phone.
Samsung, go lie down under the bush somewhere and die there. Apple can just follow the same route. And (although I never used them, but I don't think they are any better) Microsoft phones can go and die the same way.
In 1999 we had Nokias and no one was managing anything. And that was awesome.16
Bought myself a Samsung s3 and while choosing what apps I want to receive notifications from, I noticed everything was off by one.7
A classmate of mine once asked me for a phone charger.
*I would lent it to you, but I don't think you have a type-c*
*No, I have a samsung*8
Was talking to a woman who recently found her lost phone.
After talking about apps which track your phone I asked her if she had an iPhone or an Android.
Her response: "I've just got a Samsung eh"10
I was here, before it was wk119...
This is my desk. There are many like it, but this is mine.

One day an iphone is going to explode, and samsung users are going to be like, samsung has had this feature for yearrs lol3
Just came home from the cinema in zurich switzerland where Samsung installed the largest 4K LED TV. Yes that's not a textile canvas in the picture, it's a wall of led tiles called Samsung ONYX. It's a real pleasure to look at. High contrasts and brilliant color. I'm in love 😍
Samsung Debuts World's First 3D Cinema LED Screen Theater in ...16
Please stop saying, "stock Android." What you mean is AOSP, and no phones from any manufacturer come with it. Stock means it's in the original state that the manufacturer intended, filled with bloat, whether it's Samsung, Google, LG, Xiaomi, or whatever.7
I can't believe people are willing to scan their faces, fingerprints, and retinas on their phones.
Such data is very sensitive as it can't be changed easily.
CCTV is now everywhere and everyone has his own scanner providing data for tracking people.
Am I too paranoid?6
Why you should buy XXX phones...

Friend: Do you have a cable you can spare, so that I can charge my phone?
Me: Unless you have a type-c (port), yes.
Friend: No, I have Samsung.
Dear every single Samsung owner I see, if you spend $200+ on a life proof case but still end up with your screen and back smashed... I think you have bigger problems than just a smashed phone...6
Samsung Pay > Apple Pay
There I said it. After testing Apple Pay, Google Wallet, and now Samsung Pay I am convinced that Samsung Pay is the best. It works great and the rewards points that you get for using it are just awesome.
Side note: wtf Apple!? The iPhone 8 is the iPhone 7 plus wireless charging and the iPhone X is just a $1000 piece of flashy ass shit that's only real "innovations" are Face ID and animojis.6
Hey, people's of devrant!
You guys seem to know a lot about this, so I'm going to ask this question here..
Can i have some recommendations for apps to use (Android) that respect privacy and are preferably enctypted?
Things I would like:
Google drive / Dropbox alternative
A nice looking image viewer / gallery (I don't like the Samsung one)
An RSS feed reader.
Google docs alternative
Maybe a calendar / reminder app
I think that's it. Also feel free to mention other apps that you guys use on a regular basis33
I am building a PC for my first time and thought about every step more than twice. This is going to be my build:
Processor: AMD Ryzen™ 7 2700

What are your opinions on this build?63
I never rooted and Android device. Now I have until tomorrow to root a Samsung Tablet, update android version, install Microsoft Power Apps and show to CEO.10
Guy1-Have you seen the new iPhone ?
Guy2-Yeah, blablabla like Samsung
Me-OMG STFU no one cares3
Finally got around to flashing Lineage on my S5.
So smooth and no Samsung bloat! (and blob emojis)
Desks seem to be a thing, currently. This is my desk. There are many like it, but this is mine.

Dude i've got a Samsung laptop but i can't play any cool games what's wrong with it?
:-0 like tellin me it's a Samsung laptop is spose to mean something at the least give me a clue as how poor your laptop is.4
After two iPhones stolen in a month I decided to buy a Samsung and I really like it much more than iOS17
I'm thinking of buying a Samsung Galaxy S7 as a replacement to my Nexus 6P.. from what I can tell, it ticks all the boxes.. nice battery (3000mAh), 5GHz Wi-Fi, octacore CPU, kernel source being available, QHD display... However, it being sold at €350 - and that only in the Netherlands - does introduce quite some hurdles. For anyone who's owned this device, how long did you own this device and did any issues show up, especially hardware-related ones? Last time I owned a Samsung device was with a Galaxy S3 Mini, which was a delight to use. Other than that I don't really have any experience with it.
Another thing that piqued my curiosity - I still have 3 Raspberry Pi's unused, as well as one LCD display (but without touch). It got me thinking, the only things that I really use my phones for on the go is for calling, texting and listening to music via Bluetooth. Perhaps a Raspberry Pi or even an Arduino could take care of that? The smart devices that I'd consume and produce most content on are my tablet and my PC anyway.47
I just realized a Samsung, Google, Apple smartphone now costs more than a 55in UltraHD 4K smart TV....9
Sat on the train to my girlfriend's house 1.5 hours away, and I'm letting a friendly stranger charge his phone from my laptop (THIS INTERCITY TURBOSTAR TRAIN HAS NO MOFO'ING SOCKETS BUT PAID WIFI) and now my computer is out I want to code.
Problem is, if I bring up vim or the terminal, I may as well bring up hackertyper and put on a ski mask, and quietly mutter 'I'm in'.
On the other side, maybe he's using his beaten up Samsung to sneakysneak into my laptop? Who knowwwssss.4
Samsung S9 benchmarks: slower than a 2 year old iPhone, more expensive than current:
Regional flight Sweden: "Passengers are not allowed to have a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 in their checked in luggage. If so, please inform the cabin crew"
Should one laugh or fear?6
Go to 00:28
Samsung Note 9's commercial background song contains the lyrics "our house is burning"
hmm maybe thats whats gonna happen when you purchase it and it explodes in your face
Note 7 anyone?2
I am a Samsung fan but Samsung just really sucks at UI. I mean seriously. What the fuck is this? I was driving and talking over Bluetooth, tried to change my volume and Samsung is like "Solve this puzzle first"10
Thanks fot this very informative email Samsung.
I have English set as my language and I live in sweden. WHY ARE ALL THE MAILS I GET FROM THEM IN KOREAN?26
why do i have an iphone?
well, let's start with the cons of android.
- its less secure. this isn't even arguable. it took the fbi a month or something (i forget) to break into an ios device
- permission, permissions, permissions. many of the android apps i use ask for the not obscure permissions.
· no, you don't need access to my contacts
· no, you don't need access to my camera to take notes
· no, you don't need access to my microphone to send messages
· no, you don't need access to my saved passwords to be a functioning calculator
- not being able to block some apps from an internet connection
- using an operating system created and maintained by an advertising company, aka no more privacy
- i like ios's cupertino more than material design, but that's just personal preference
pros of ios:
- being able to use imessage, at my school if you don't have an iphone you're just not allowed to be in the group chat
- the reliability. i've yet a data loss issue
- the design and feel. it just feels premium
- if i could afford it, ios seems like a lot of fun to develop for (running a hackintosh vm compiled a flutter app 2x as fast as it did on not-a-vm windows)
so that's why i like iphones
the first code on every samsung app
I wasn't planning on giving Christmas presents to the people I hate until I heard about those exploding Samsung Galaxy phones 😈1
Everyone hates iPhone so much i think it is because they know it's superior and are sad about it. The comparisons people keep posting are cherry picked and misleading attempting futilely to show the iPhone in negative light. Sorting through them is getting exhausting. Let the hate begin!!
Addendum: seems like admitting the iPhone is technologically superior but you prefer the android ecosystem for reasons x and y is so easy, that it's hard to take people seriously for posting memes belligerently asserting that Samsung phones are technologically superior despite the mountain of evidence otherwise. Just looks like insecurity to an outsider. It's just a phone, not your livelihood.63
Ouuuuuu i just had the best laugh in this month.
You know samsung have presented S8 as beast device (While its not) and finally it received 8.0.
Im like wtffffff its not even the newest android.
(I do not own this device and im happy for that.)
Funny thing i own a 2013 device and its running 8.1 android based on LineageOS 15.1 with latest security patch.
And looking at the amazing dev Github reveals that P dev preview is probably already running on it and once google releases full version of android P the device will receive it in DAYS.
Now that i tell is a fucking support.
NO OEM CAN BEAT CUSTOM ROM SUPPORT.38
So I bought a smart watch to go with my Samsung Galaxy back when I was 12, and upon inspecting the watchface maker app I came across lua scripting files. This amazed me. Animations, complex math, hexadecimal color system, variables, sensors...
I spent about four months
learning/experimenting with lua until I discovered arduino and C++.
I am now 14 and have been fascinated with robotics and learned java and dos since.2
Lately submitted an app to the App Store, it was reviewed by Apple, everything fine, I released it.
Last week I submitted an update containing some minor fixes - rejected?!
Checked the reason: Apple has a problem with the app icon (which did not change at all) showing a stylized iPhone.
Right now I'm thinking about solving this by adding a Samsung logo to the icon though..4
Intel or AMD?: Intel
nVidia or AMD?: nVidia
xBox or PlayStation?: PlayStation
HTML or C++: C++
Apple or Samsung?: OnePlus!!!!!!16
My Gear S3's charger all of a sudden decided not to stop full charge when the watch was at 100%, so I came home to a watch that was flaming hot and going crazy with error messages that it's overheated, battery going down WHILE charging.
Tried it a few more times, never stops at 100% anymore
Samsung you fucking retards, thanks for trying to burn my house down (again)4
Mobile phones are from hell >:[ Well, at least my gf's Samsung is from hell. It makes noise for anything. If someone calls, play a stupid melody. If there is a text, play a stupid melody. If its battery needs to be charged, play a stupid melody. If its battery is fully charged, play a stupid melody. Even if it's in the middle of the night and people just maybe would like to get a few minutes of sleep! What's next? Play a stupid melody when the stupid Samsung Android piece of junk wants its diaper changed? Or when it's bored? Or just needs attention? Or when it realises that the word "smart" in smart phones actually means stupid? SHUT UP!!! We don't need a tamagotchi, we already have two kids and two cats to fullfill our tamagotchying needs! Technology is supposed to make life easier, not worse FFS! No wonder so many people get stressed out these days! And you, pathetic people at Samsung, or whoever that come up with these "smart" features that deprave decent people of their sleep, now it's your turn to be woken up! WAKE UP IDIOTS! Get outside your small mobile-bound shitholes of confined fart-filled bubbles! Learn about REAL LIFE, get yourselves nagging gfs, screaming kids and a PUNCH IN YOUR FACES! Maybe that will teach you to manufacture phones that SHUT THE FUCK UP during sleeping hours!31
Is it just me or does it also bother anyone else when manufacturers pull shit like this (using Apple as example but I've also seen it from Google/Samsung).10
Ditched the iPhone X for the Samsung Gaaxy S9+ today, tires of the notch and no fingerprint sensor plus I wanted the bigger better screen.10
My goal in life as an android man: convert every single person I can from Samsung or iPhone to either pixel or Nexus
Converted 3 so far and they all say they won't go back to modifed Android or iOS :-D17
After many years as an android and windows user I decided to make the switch to iphone and Mac. Not because I think they are better but I really wanted to give the apple ecosystem a chance and decide for myself which products work for me. So far so good though. Really liking the iPhone 8 over my Samsung galaxy.7
Microsoft - Cortana
Apple - Siri
Samsung - BixBy
Google - Google Assistant
Amitabh Bachchan - Computer Ji2
I'm sick of people interchangeably using the terms 'Samsung', 'Google', 'Android'. As in "Oh, you don't use an iPhone, doesn't that mean your phone will blow up?"
No, my Nexus 6P will not explode. Also, there's a hell of a lot more to the Android universe than Samsung...4
Okay, in continuum with this rant:
Samsung just pm'd my boyfie...
firstname.lastname@example.org's lost device has been locked by the Samsung Find My Mobile service.
Have fun playing with the email everyone and your help is greatly appreciated ; ) ^_^7
Newscaster on Tv:
"Apple won patent case against Samaung"
"Thank God! Apple doesn't have Wheel patent or there would be no Ford or Mercedes ... "2
Why people like Google pixel
No wireless charging
No dual camera stuff
And now no headphones jack 😐😕
Samsung galaxy S8
And LG V30 Is far better choice7
Wanted to have Samsung Dex for work, so I can run office on it and kick windows from my dual boot laptop.
Dex pad was on sale.
Brought it to work.
Work monitor doesn't have hdmi.
I'll ask the technician later if he either has a monitor flying around he doesn't need or an adapter or something.3
Bought a s8 only to fucking hate it again. FUCKING Bixby i dont fucking need you. FUCK you Samsung. I want Google fucking Assistant you piece of shit.14
Just received and set up my first SSD (Samsung 860 EVO) with GNU/Linux!
Am I the only one who wonders how he was able to live without one for such a long time?4
Ever since I started with websecurity I've noticed alot of people still use passwords such as 123456 or abcdef and so on. I mean is it really so damn hard to figure out a more complicated password like, "IDigAGrave34+" or "IFuckedBaTmanInTheAssetsi1369" (a very long but yet secure pass). Or just use any word you see around you and mix them like for example if you have a dell pc and a samsung screen, those two names are pretty easy to scramble around like, "desamllsung" and sprinkle some random characters above it. If it is so hard to remember just write it down on notes and hide somewhere or use the countless programs where u can store it. So please for the love of your own privacy, think when you create an account and do not use the same pass on every damn site you are on. Make it hard for the hackers and crackers out there. Sincerily, a concerned internet user.11
Major WTF moment today, leading to me nuking my phone and restarting (possibly with a ROM).
So here I am working, with my android smartphone in my pocket, screen on the inside. Get in the house, see my flash through the pocket. Hm, interesting. My phone seemingly unlocked itself (fingerprint locked), then went nuts.
It pulled down my quick settings and turned on the flash. It also opened up 5 different apps, minimized one (how?), opened up multi-window view and navigated through the open apps, and texted four people. Sent one gibberish message to one person, had pictures queued up to send to two others, and spammed the hell out of another. They were getting super pissed, just receiving message after message of shit.
How the fuck does this even happen?! I literally have settings enabled that don't let it turn on when it's in a dark place. I physically lock it every time I'm done. WTF. How am I supposed to trust it with important information if it can't even lock properly?
I've had this thing literally open right up without any password or anything before. And businesses rely on these being fucking secure. What the hell.
I'm nuking this thing tonight. Fuck.2
Time for another Location based social networking service by Samsung.
It seems to be preinstalled in Galaxy S9 phones.
Seems nice, right? (smirks)

Only company that I really "hate" is Abstergo haha.
All others have their up and downsides I guess....
+ Xbox One
+ iPad Mini (don't know any company that produces such high quality but very small tablets... Therefore I still use my ~6 years old iPad Mini 1. (The battery life is insane! After all this time it still lasts about 6-7 hours!)
- The new iPhones. No innovation. Just making money.
- Smartphones (a few crashes here and there, kinda ugly, explosions!)
+ TVs (webOS is the shit!)
- Heard the Smartphones suck, not sure
And so on....3
I've finally got a monitor at work that works with Samsung Dex.
- new super cool monitor
- can remove windows now from the dual boot of the laptop since everything I needed it for can be now done on Dex.
- DevRant doesn't work with Dex. It just doesn't load properly. But maybe it will work through a browser. Need to test...3
went from verizon's ludicrous 210 a month to 165 for 2 lines with t mobile...threw in a samsung s9 for myself, wife will keep her iphone7s plus and I am a happy camper. Why didn't I do this sooner? because fuck me I am an idiot......2
WHY THE FUCK DOES WINDOWS 10 INSTALL TONS OF APPS (GAMES AMONG THEM) BY DEFAULT!?
I recently went home for some vaycay and my mom got a new pc and asked me to help install Windows 10 on it. After the install, there were not only the default apps (weather, xbox, etc) but countless games (candy crush, ...) and other bullshit preinstalled! And this was a download from M$, not some vendor specific install disk (we know they love to bloat)
Seriously wtf?! Also, the first thing the install asks you now is to talk with cortana!? And 2 billion checkmarks about sending data that are all ON by default!? HOLY SHIT MICROSOFT. Get your fucking spyware out of my face!!
My mom, luckily, thought the same, and we then installed at least Windows 7. (I'll not even try to get her on Linux, that's a support job I'm not taking)
The next night i literally had a nightmare that my samsung phone got a system update that made all preinstalled apps non-removable and installed a bunch of shit as well. And because all the new shit took so much space it deleted my data.
Fuck was i happy when i woke up lol5
That moment when you don't have the right screwdriver and you have to fuck up the whole phone in order to disassemble it.5
Holy shit! Samsung is literally on fire these days... Firstly, they release the Linux on Dex beta with Ubuntu support and now they announced the new UI for their next phones which is fucking amazing in my opinion.4
My oldies, they take me back. It's actually amazing I got my hands on a prototype for an LG phone from way back. It was never released to public. Android is in my roots...2
I belive that except stock android, every other custom android UI sucks.
Especially Samsung UI and MIUI
Who else shares my opinion?9
Just realized that after 3 months of continuous samsung s9 use my phone is still as fast as it was when i got it out the box.
Man I love this stupid phone so much. Everything opens up so fast and this sob is as smooth as an iphone when it comes to the speed.
Pure goodness. Still would like to try a more pure Android environment u know? Like back when nexus was still a thing. I don't really dig the pixel phones too much but know that I am on a more open carrier and I can use phones like the one plus series I think i know what my next phone would be.
Nothing personal samsung, you have been good ans loyal, but i want to play with more phones.
I really love smartphones.2
I am trying to find a good time for my phone. But there don't seem to be any.
Does anyone mind helping me find one? Or have any suggestions?
(Preferably lineage os)
My device info:
Samsung A5 (2017)
Some birds told me Galaxy S9 is really good.
Googled it, and found something more interesting.
PS: this is the 3rd largest mobile server provider in NZ
Use development code in production.
Nice work guys!2
QA guy: Your app crashed on this Samsung.
Me: Checks Firebse logs and finds out that phone was rooted and tells QA guy.
QA guy: You must consider all use cases.
Fuck you dude!3
Just realized my next comback to PM:
No, we can't deliver yet, we need further testing before we are ready. I mean we don't want to end up in a situation similar to exploding batteries right?3
I think i like the new Galaxy S8.
I will probably buy it. But, even thinking of buying such an expensive phone makes me feel guilty.
Maybe it's because i can barely afford it..
I guess i have to live with this guilt :/12
Google and Microsoft will now participate in the Docs at the Mozilla site
TIL that you can plug a mouse and keyboard into a Samsung phone and use it to interact with it like you would your finger. Now before you say this is such a useless feature, because of this, I was able to recover my backup from my screen shattered phone (really fucked it up so touch quit working) , and transfer it to another phone in a matter of minutes. To whoever thought of this, thank you so much :).1
So, i bought samsung 850 evo 250gb, and i noticed that performance is lower then it supposed to be (according to userbenchmark and crystal disc mark), drive is pluged into sata 3 port and samsung rapid technology shows up as unavalible. I havent researched this problam yet.
Any of you have idea whats wrong?14
Dropped my trusty old Note 2 backup device this morning and it just keeps on ticking. No smoke just a nasty cracked screen. Sort of gives it character 😊1
I don’t hate the Pixel. I don’t have the iPhone. Why? Because both the software and hardware together are made by the same company.
They’re worth as much as these companies want to price them. Then you get Samsung charging nearly as much.5
Who is the brain-damaged engineer at Samsung that decided that a capacitive touch buttons on an induktion cooktop is the way to go. As soon a waterdrop falls on any button the stove goes "FUCK IT, I'M OUT" and shut itselfs off for about 30 seconds.
How wonderful when you have 4 different pots that must have different temperatures and you must use each [+] - button sequentially because the idiot engineer was to lazy to make the input be able to handle several buttons at once!
Stupid idiot engineer and QA department!2
...just download our new app! NO! FUCK YOU! What do you think you deserve storage space and permissions on my phone? Make a responsive site or webapp or I will not use your service. Why does everything need a fucking app? Oh, you bought a new car? Download an app! New appliance? DOWNLOAD A FUCKING APP! Just bought a new Samsung phone, but already use all of Googles empireware? WELL HERE IS ANOTHER CALENDAR/MAIL/EVERYTHING APP FROM SAMSUNG THAT YOU CAN'T COMPLETELY DELETE! This needs to stop.
Thank you for listening2
Was trying to figure out why the code coverage tool always reports 0% on my android tests. Turns out that is specific to newer samsung phones and it reports the coverage correctly on other phones.
Good old samsung, annoying devs since 2009!
My tablet that I had all my code for an app just took a shit out of no where it was never dropped not even a scratch it just went black and well never went back fuck my entire existence9
I bought a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge from my cousin for $450. I then proceeded to root it and everything was fine for a week or so before my phone went into an infinite boot loop after an OTA update.
In the process of trying to fix it, I accidentally flashed a bootloader, unaware that Samsung has the bootloader locked. As a result, I had a completely bricked phone.
I mean legit bricked. No buttons with work and the screen remained shut and I couldn't flash anything over it again to try to repair it. I couldn't even put the phone into recovery mode. I now had the world's most expensive paperweight.
However, I managed to convince Samsung to repair it for me for free! I told them that the phone just stopped responding after an OTA update from them, which isn't so far from the truth.
I only ever had to flash things on the phone to begin with because of their update. Honestly, I wouldn't has had to deal with this problem, and neither would Samsung, if they just didn't lock the damn bootloader! Why are these companies taking away are independent control of our own devices?
Moral of the story: DON'T flash over a locked bootloader EVER or you will end up with a completely brick device, with no solution other than to open it up and replace the motherboard entirely.11
Full Ubuntu on Samsung Galaxy S9
Samsung is announcing the beta launch of Linux on DeX which extends the value of Samsung DeX to Linux developers. Linux on DeX empowers developers to build apps within a Linux development environment by connecting their Galaxy device to a larger screen for a PC-like experience.
My desk/room setup
An Asus A555LF connected to an Acer LCD Monitor and a Samsung Smart TV connected wirelessly(Intel Wi-di) dual boots to Ubuntu 15.04 and Windows 8.1.
Back when every mobile company had a different charger it made sense to say Nokia charger or Sony Ericsson charger.
But ever since micro usb became standard, I cringe when I ask for a micro usb charger and idiots say they have a Samsung charger not a Motorola one.
Seriously? How much do you have to think to realize if a charger works for many brands of phones it can't be a Samsung charger?7
Yeah, I'll probably have a google, Facebook or wikipedia account instead of a Gmail one. What's wrong with you Samsung?1
Why do people think Apple is ripping you off when Samsung is selling you at 3/4 the price of an iPhone BUT without full hardware AND software integration?5
So I just acquired a Samsung galaxy S3 running Android 4.3 with Clockwork mod recovery off friend, and last night it ran out of battery. Then I tried charging it. It's not charging or turning on. Any ideas what's going off?8
Why the fuck does Samsung Hub which I don't want on my device, keeps installing Peel Smart Remote TV Guide, what ever that shit is on my device.
Have deleted it 3 times since yesterday and it keeps installing it.3
Not really a devs rant.
I ordered a HDD from samsung with more storage online. Today I wanted to replace it. When i took it out i was shortly confused, which one i had to insert, so i though the one with Samsung label had to be it.
Well, it wasn't1
Well, in Google I/O, Android P Beta is announced for Android devices.
I could see it supported by Google, Sony, OnePlus devices. Even rolling out for Oppo, Vivo, MI.
No Samsung? 🤔wondering why??5
so in order for me to be able to design a theme for a samsung phone, I have to apply and it has to become public after? what?
Fucking hell my Chromebook is a confusing little cunt...
I use the Samsung Chromebook plus with a 64 bit based ARM CPU but the chromeOS installation is 32 bit... Buuuuuut it will prefer 64 bit android applications and runs the Linux container at 64 bit!
How does that even fucking work?!?!
(Yes I know Google blah blah, privacy blah, your opinion is noted and ignored ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)3
worst documentation ever => Samsung TV app documentation.
it is so rare that you find a function that actually works. sometimes you find a description about the function but it is in korean language.
I wanted to rant that my stickers look so good that I can't get shit done!
The last of my stickers made it to my Hackintosh.0 setup.
It's pretty quick:
2x240gb RAID 0 SSD
1x240gb Main OS SSD
3.73 ghz Core i7
32gb DDR3 RAM
Nvidia 4gb 660 GT
40" Samsung UHD Smart TV
Unicomp 104 Key Model M Buckling Spring Keyboard (Mac Keycaps)
Razer Deathadder Mouse4
i'm living in a different country because of work, parents ranting in phone "the PC is slow" well fuck, that hdd was old when i built that PC so i wanted to change the hdd for my ssd anyway
Goes home for a little time period.. no time to order things. Turns out, hdd meanwhile died on them... well what a good thing i have this ssd in my old notebook, so its not a problem.
*turns on old notebook with 4 yo ssd* ...its dead too.
wtf, i'm so mad right now4
Is it just me or is Samsung always a year after with their update when it comes to OS? Next phone Will be pixel, all about that vanilla tho.4
It drives me nuts when people compare iPhones to Samsung, not realizing that Samsung did not invent Android, nor are they the only phone manufacturer or Android OS distributor.
If you're comparing iOS to Android, that's one thing. Or if you are comparing iPhone's hardware to a specific Samsung phone's hardware, I get it. Heck, I'm cool if you compare the iPhone X to the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, because they're similar in price. But don't say that Apple is better than Samsung when you mean you have an issue with Android, or your battery life on your $300 Android device wasn't as good as your $700 iPhone. Apples to oranges guys! It's like comparing Visual Studio 2015 to Python.
I don't care who is right or which is better. At least know what you're comparing!
Nice. I can't update my alarm app because I don't want Galaxy Apps to access my contacts. Well done. Whatever these two have in common...2
Me: *opens YouTube to catch up on WMC but see's 40 videos on the S9 and nothing else*
Also me: *closes YouTube and hopes for some actuall news tomorrow*2
Samsung make such shit phones. My 2 month old s8 completely locked up for about 5 hours today with cpu on 100%. You would get burnes if you touched it. The only apps I have are, instagram, FF, snap, devRant. Smh.8
@alexdovzhanyn and I just released the third episode of Runtimerror Live!
We talk about various things like the DynDDoS attack, recursion and much more.
We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed recording it :)1
Pro tip: Never test old HDDs with one of those Samsung USB3 to SATA adapters. Always use a test bench with real connectors. It might save you a few believed to be dead HDDs.4
I have a problem with my Samsung galaxy S7 since the last update. When a friend share me a devrant link thought SMS it will open the link inside the Samsung internet browser not with the devRant application.4
Is there any reason why should I buy Samsung 960 Evo instead 850 Evo?
960 Evo has ~4 times faster sequential speeds but is 40$ more expensive then 850 Evo (I'm talking bout 250gb options)
I doubt that I would see any difference in normal use case/build times. Or am I wrong?
Would it be better idea using those 40$ on more ram for caching or even saving projects on ramdisk?16
The most horrifying thing for any Android Dev:
The client wants to build a media app and owns a Samsung device!!!1
I really miss the android Gingerbread of my Samsung galaxy Y phone.
I still wish to have a plain and simple device for myself.
Hmm... OP6 is coming out...
I bought an OP1 3.5yrs ago for $350 and it still works pretty well with LineageOS...
So right now the amortized cost is $100/yr...
New one seems to be $500 but the only reason I want the new one is the camera...
The other options I can think of is Samsung or Google, are there any others... that can be bought in the US?9
To many "Quantum" this days: Firefox Quantum, Samsung TV Quantum, Quantum computer.......wait does that last one count??5
Hey guys! I want to purchase a new phone. I owned an Asus zenfone2 and was happy with it. I want and android phone with at least 4 gb of ram and a decent chipset. I am not interested in samsung s8 google pixel or such. I was looking into oneplus 3 or 5 or lg g6. Could you provide some suggestions?9
Finally gifting my sister, on the occasion of my sisters recently born baby's 21st day..,
My old laptop with Linux installed and with an update to Samsung evo 860 ssd.
She is new to linux, not so new. Hope she will find good stuff to prepare for the next job as she is on maternity leave.1
I just realized the security app I'm writing has some fundamental limitations that will essentially kill my implementation and the code I've been working on the last two weeks! Fuck!3
Damned Samsung phones! Just updating a Samsung (Galaxy? Not sure) J5, every couple of seconds I get a dialog stating network disconnected... Icon says I'm connected... Dammit, Samsung shouldn't be allowed to make software!1
Is it just me or is what susspose to be the tech giants, making more and more n00b mistakes lately... Apple's latest update "best release of iOS yet" bricks the phone, Samsung phones are blowing up...
Things are continously prematurely released to try and beat everybody in the market place which just leads to unimpressive and dangerous product releases.3
Why the hell does my Samsung phone prevent me from uninstalling the Facebook app and instead offers me to disable it? WTF, NO, i want it freakin gone.
Bitch, Visibility: Hidden & Visibility: Gone are two different things.4
Someone just noticed that I have a OnePlus 5. And then she asked me:
Would you compare it to an iPhone or a Samsung?6
I am thinking about building new PC, so I made a list of components. What do you think? Any suggestions?
I don't know which GPU model/brand to get yet. Would like to play at 1440p >60Hz so GTX1070 is not enough if I don't wanna buy new GPU in a few years (probably 4-5 years as I always do).
- CPU: AMD RYZEN 7 2700X
- GPU: GTX 1080 Ti / GTX 1080
- HDD: WD Gold 2TB
- SSD: Samsung 860 EVO 250 GB
- RAM: Patriot Viper RGB Series 16 GB KIT DDR4 3200 MHz CL16 DDR4 Black
- MB: ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING
- CAS: NZXT H500 Black
- PSU: Corsair HX75019
@dfox : it looks like that there might be a bug in viewing profiles with less than 5 rants.
Android version 6.0.1 Samsung s7
1.) Click on a user profile with a low number of rants
2.) Scroll to the bottom of the list
3.) The user is unable to scroll up.12
Samsung, for blinking while I'm playing on PS4 (according to the Samsung forums it's common problem with some models) at work. You want a few minutes break? Let's turn screen black for few seconds every minute.
Woo time for a Chromebook rant against Samsung!
So they just 'revised' the Chromebook plus (Currently using v1 to write this) and I was intrigued because they ditched the Samsung made ARM chips for an intel CPU.... Buuuuuuuuuut... It's a fucking celeron... Of all fucking things to put in a half thousand dollar laptop, at least an m3 would be useful. Then I find out they are ditching the full metal body, it's heavier, thicker, same 3GB of RAM, ditching the 3:2 aspect ratio (Fucking why?!) and the 'upgraded' keyboard doesn't even have back lighting...
Ugh, makes me want a pixel book more, double the price and a million times the performance and quality -.-5
I bought a Samsung 34” ultra wide monitor for the express purpose of being able to arrange multiple windows however I deemed necessary for productivity. Only to find out that it natively only offers a single vertical split. The software they provide to offer more split options simply does not work the way it says it will. And DisplayFusion software is no better.
Is it seriously 2018 and we still don’t have a simple way to make the most of a widescreen monitor? Good grief!!!!!12
"Oh so you're a computer genius. Can you unlock my phone? It's locked into some random network. The phone is Android and it's Samsung"2
Not completely a dev thing. But now days it seems like everyone is either an audiophile or a master at phone design. Like for REAL! What do you want???
This sounds like crap (has HD Sound)
This looks ugly (any and every phone)
It seems like there a lot of trolls that just go to events they really don't like... Why do Samsung Fans watch Apple events??
You dont see vegans going to every meet market they see.... Like for real.....
An eventful day:
Because of my recent amateur thermopaste application onto a heatpipe that connects a laptop CPU and a discrete GPU and *ingenious* HP ProBook engineering my Radeon graphics have fried yesterday.
On the bright side, got the Nougat update for my Samsung S6, with bright hopes that it will help restore the state of an unresponsive fingerprint scanner... nope, that is still broken.
Summer is near, exams finished, time for some DIY on used and abused tech! :D2
Is there a way to add support for dual messenger feature for Samsung phones?
I can't find any api for this2
Windows 10 Fall Creator Update (1709) is not supporting Samsung SSD 960 Pro M.2 right now.
Always when I try to update it, I get at the start a blue screen with Boot Device not detected. (Error 0xc00000bb)
Thought ok, let's try the update assistens - Nope
Tried to only boot on my M.2 - Nope NOPE
Tried to install upgrade it over a direct Image - Fuck you MoBo, ain't gonna work.
Googled around and everybody with a Samsung 960 Pro have this problem with the update 1709.
Who dafuq test this things at Microsoft? They are forgetting over the bit more expensive customers with a higher end Rigs.
FUCK YOU MICROSOFT AND WINDOWS TOGETHER. Im gonna bury you under water with in a fucking bolder.7
So i found a samsung gear fit 2 (one of those exercise smart watches) and i couldn't find the owner (no information on the watch ), so now i ordered a charger and i might keep it, am i a cunt? I kinda feel like one..14
WTF WTF WTF
FUCK YOU SAMSUNG NOTE 8 NOTES APP
FYI : I was ex iPhone user.
I bought a new Samsung note 8 mobile. It has Easy Do app simillar to Notes.
So I had a meeting with business meetup with potential ideas and leads. And i was writing on this Notes app.
After the meetimg done, I closed the app.
And next day (today) I wanted to check what I have got from meetings. And fucking found that this app does not save it until you press save button.
Okay. I AGREE MAY BE MY FAULT, BUT THAT FUCKING APP SHOULD HAVE ASKED ME WHETHER I WANTED TO SAVE IT OR NOT THE SIMPLEST NOTEPAD WILL DO EVEN YOU TRY TO CLOSE IT.
FUCK IT THAT APP.13
Well done Samsung! There is nothing better than wake up in the morning just to find out that fucking VR Service ate 15% of the battery overnight.1
I'm still in the market for a new phone. I've been looking for the best part of a year now and I still can't decide.
I'm probably going to go with one of the Chinese smart phones just because of the insane features for such a low cost and the fact that they aren't fucking Samsung or Apple.
But which one?!
The OnePlus 5T looks incredible. It's the beefiest phone imaginable and it's so cheap for what it is. But ideally I'm looking to flash a custom ROM and I'm worried I'd fuck it up with a shiny new phone.
I'll probably be putting Nethunter on the phone (trying to fuck around with learning security).
Samsung, because their devices used to be the very best but now their UI only gets really slow after a few weeks, they're too expensive etc. Basically there are about 10 other companies i'd prefer, even Apple. Using a Oneplus right now.
I got a new phone, and there is an option in the settings to disable notifications for specific apps. Of course, to prevent overload from apps.
The problem is that the apps that actually spam me:
Bloatware "antimalware" wants to be activated (I have eset on my phone and thats probably better than a random bloatware) and Samsungs integrated file manager "My files" (I have es installed anyways and its better than the bloatware. Im sure I use it.)
Their notifications just cant be turned off fully. Instead I only have the option to "hide them on lockscreen".
Nice, except the lockscreen is the only place my notifications actually dont show up. Even when I want to, it just doesnt work.
The teams making apps should actually read the docs of other projects, as this is just massivly uninformed development.3
DUPLiCATED SEE COMMENTS
Bug, my feed is full of rants I already upvoted, and reloading it doesn't change the feed, I am on algo mode btw
My phone is a Samsung Galaxy grand prime Android 58
So my aunt called because her phone had ran out of storage as she had "by mistake" disabled Play Store,WhatsApp, Browser, Chrome and every other fucking app, and she had to install WhatsApp back. After an hour of struggle explaining her to move her songs to memory card, enabling Chrome and Play Store, installing WhatsApp, I have started to lose faith from humaninty.
To make things worse, every Android phone manafacturer feels obligatory to change the settings app as per their wish and I didn't have a clue where the settings to enable apps were on her phone.
And I had to do all this through a phone call
And I can't say "No"
There should be a button in Android: I'm too dumb for all this stuff4
After 6 years of android I just rooted my samsung, how could I have missed the glory of root features for so long...2
Iphone 8, 8+ and X. Rants anyone🤷🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️? I'm just pissed they're trying to imitate Samsung and still claiming "new feature"😒
Rant at samsung tablet design. Those fucking touch buttons are shit. How the fuck am i supposed to hold my tablet comfortably in landscape mode when every 5 fucking seconds i accidentally press the buttons? This design has no place on any device larger than 6". From now on its physical buttons or on screen only. They dont even provide a simple non-hacky root method to turn them the fuck off and replace with on screen android buttons.
I really enjoy having a tablet and i find them incredibly useful. My only problem im having is that i seem to ALWAYS press something by accident. If its not my hand touching the samsung buttons its my headphone cable gently brushing against the screen.
I need to write an app that will lock out all input to my device until i do a certain gesture on the screen, something that cant easily be mistaken like a 4 finger infinity 😂😂2
currently in the mood for rooting my phone again (samsung galxaxy s6 edge).
any good ROM recommendations?7
Alright so when I take over the world in my dreams I will burn all non modifiable devices (so many new Samsung phones and every Mac product, though that is for separate reasons, etc) in a cleansing blaze. And possibly their owners because they are witches, but the church of Aquarius has yet to ratify an official position on witchcraft. Also we are fairly green so the cleansing fire is more symbolic than anything.
Anyway, QUICK. Someone give me a good name for my controlled purge/culling. Bonus points for dramatic sounding names that are secretly punny/funny (haha inside jokes in dark times). This definitely isn't for a novel that I don't want to give you any credit for.
Playing ME:A, game froze, alt-tab out to try and close it, can see my mouse moving around but the screen the game is playing on is staying black. Whatever, shit happens, I'll just hard power off and reboot.
Powered down, push the power button, SSD isn't booting, being sent to BIOS. "Oh no."
SSD isn't listed in available boot options. "Shit." Checked the cables and what not, nothing, pretty sure it died on me. Go to Fry's to get a new 960 EVO m.2, sold out, go to the other one 30mins away that says it has one in stock, it doesn't either. 😧
Guess I'm ordering one online, Amazon says 1-3 weeks even with Prime, Samsung website says 1-3 days but no rush delivery.
Guess I'm computer-less for a while. (Unless I find something else before end of day)5
I have to test my App on a Samsung Galaxy Young 2. Can someone please shoot me?
It took over 3 minutes to install the APK and now it can't even get an IP from our AP. 😐4
anyone got any experience with Samsung Dex? I still keep Windows as dual boot on my laptop since I sometimes need MS Office with full functionality and not only the limited online/mobile version. I heard that one could install full MS Office on the Dex since at some screen size Microsoft requires that or something...? No idea. Any experiences?
Since if it is possible I'd get that instead of the dual boot.
TL:DR; Samsung pc to phone app was shit.
So samsung last time had an app that links music, etc from folder directly which means it doesnt copy but uses those files unlike itunes which was to navigate, but thats another thing altogether
I wanted to delete some music files from the app. I checked and checked and checked.. and I fucked up. I deleted the entire 4gb of music in my folder.
Everything gone. I tried recovering them after 1 hr, they were all corrupted.
I had back up but they were only 1gb of everything :(2
Just ordered myself a raspberry pi 3 B+ and i was wondering if any one you have this already .. and if it works with a samsung charger 2A at 5V ?5
Got the update to Android Oreo on my S7 edge yesterday.
I love it. It made my phone work so much faster(really, so much!). Everything is smoother and new cool featured have been added, the UI looks incredybly modern and nice.
But there is one BIG disadvantage.
The batteryusage is terrible now. In bad times my phone lost 7%-8% in a half an our. I heard that they had the same issue when the s8 got the update to android oreo.
Pls samsung you are my favourite phone company. Fix it, it is driving me crazy!!!2
Samsung phones. I test my apps in an emulator instead. (I'm a student and I can't afford a new phone. I have what I get. But at least I get something so I should be happy.)
So after having a rather shit day at work I notice that my phone (samsung s7 edge) is at 50% and indecide to fast charge it...then i notice it "Fast charging, 55 minutes till ready" great....fucking....great. please don't tell me that the battery is fuckd up...i really do not need this
So... My Nexus 5X died few hours ago, i have no clue what happened. Tried to google it, found a lot of people have same problem, most of it said it was Samsung eMMC problem that need to blow with heat air. I just realized, how the fcuk Samsung's things screwed up my LG Nexus 5X from inside! Very Interesting Weekend 😵5
Has anyone got experience setting up a wallboard? What device would you recommend?
We use Klipfolio (which is great!) and I have a spare Samsung TV. I don't have a spare PC but could create a VM on the internal network for Chromecast etc. A raspberry pi is also an option. Chromebit looks good but very hard to find in the UK.4
Whelp, I made the switch to android about a week ago. Didn't go two days without getting malware on it. I only browse hacker news and used devRant, standard messaging app, no root, so no shady things, just fairly standard things besides devRant. When I called Samsung support, they said it was a known issue and sent me some links to some forums where people were having the same issues. After digging through those threads, there was an official answer from Samsung saying they weren't going to fix the issue (at least in any foreseeable future). That's unacceptable for a phone that was released less than a year ago.
I'm done with Samsung phones for good. I might come back to Android on a google phone.
I hate how Android is distributed and the manufacturers don't take ownership of their issues. They just work on the new phone without caring for anything older than 6 months. If I had to get a new phone every time a major security issue was found and the company refused to fix it, I'd spend more money than on an iPhone.
It seems like Google keeps their devices up to date better, presumably because they have better control of OS releases. But non-google Android devices are dead to me.
Back to my iPhone for now...

Either I'm so unlucky, or Samsung VR gear is the junkiest thing in the world, I've been to over 15 stores (including official Samsung) hoping to try it, and they're always "temporarily" out of service2
Updated Android on my phone and I was looking for a full minute where's my music app... to find it's now called "Samsung Music" -.- what a great idea...
I got the Note 7 a couple weeks ago (the reissue). Now, as you all know it's blowing up again. So, I went to return it but they said no. No? They said I can only get another Note and that will take 4 weeks. Seriously. So the options:
1. Have no phone for a month
2. Blow up
I think I'm edging towards blowing up.2

Before I dig deep and pick the minds on S/O, I'm trying to test an app (Cordova) on my wife's phone (Samsung/Android 7) - the feature I'm testing works fine on mine (Huawei/Android 8).
Where it seems to be faulty is making a WebSocket connection to my server - is there any known issues people are aware of? Recent security updates or something?
I'd jump straight on to USB debugging, but last time I tried to do this on Samsung, it simply failed to show up as a known device - tried loads of drivers...1
Ooowww damn!!!!!!!!!...........I just updated this Samsung Galaxy Over The Air and I Can't root it.....2
Just got explicitly told to turn off any Samsung Galaxy Note 7 devices in the usually generic pre-flight "Turn to flight mode" announcement 😂😂
Building with Unity3D a VR app for Oculus Gear & Oculus Go
While testing the app, it must have a certain tag in the AndroidManifest and it just works flawlessly
As you upload it to the stores, that tag has to be removed because reasons (?)
Can't you just remove it by yourself, you fucking Samsung?
I'm a software developer but my phone is 4 year old..with the only updated rom is cm 11.2 nightly build
Full hardware qwerty FTW!
Samsung relay s 4g, the last of a kind.6
Does anyone use a Samsung Galaxy S7 with a custom rom? Are there good roms? And can you recommend some?
I have the european S7 I think there are processor differences.
Fucking Samsung should get their shit together. I can't even disable default apps on my phone I had to individually disable permissions for all my app settings.
PS: If anyone received any nude pics of mine, it was totally not intentional. ^_^
Thanks have a great day. :)4
Is it just me or is the Android Storage Access Layer completely fucked up?
All I want to do is upload an image in 3 sizes (one of them 4k, if available), the correct orientation, on devices >= Android 2.1 (yes, including Samsung crap), without 100m of libraries to an S3 bucket and I need a PHD + an Armada of physical test devices to do so? WTF?
I'm making an app with android studio. I'm in the design tab for my login activity, where there is an imageview that has it's dimensions as match_parent for both height and width. The screen for my design is at 1440 x 2960, which is the size for my Samsung Galaxy S8, but then whenever I go to test it on another phone, which is a bit wider, and shorter, the image still stretches to the top, but then does not fit the whole width. Any way to fix this? I'm using a constraint layout btw

What do you think about Samsung device list for latest android version support? it doesn't apply to my Galaxy S5... yeah I know Rooting is an option, but officially? never? are we stucked at that version?1
Nokia to resurrect 3110 model!! They have announced 3 other smart phones too. But no android tie up in place. It's a big gamble, fingers crossed for Nokia!
Don't disappoint us!!!5
That moment when you want to use a perfectly good 128Gb card to store your Netflix downloads and the tablet seems that had SD Card amenesia and forgot how to format the cards
Does anyone have first hand use exp with the Nextbit Robin?
My current phone (Samsung Note Edge) is currently really glitchy and sometimes the touchscreen goes black, so that leads me to thinking about getting a new phone, the Robin.
I just wanted an unfiltered review.
I'm wondering how you guys can use a laptop with keyboard that lacks something as crucial as numpad. Was it hard to get used to not having it? I'd love to replace my old Samsung Ativ Book 2 (that monstrous i3...) for a Dell XPS or something similar but seeing that it hasn't a numpad makes me wanna cry.
I'd love to hear from you, how is your experience without numpad and how long did it take to get used to.1
As per this ad Samsung use HTML & bootstrap to change voice of bixby.
can someone tell me how can i do this?
(If anyone from Samsung. Inline CSS is bad practice)3
So I just made a deal. I am selling my Galaxy S5 16gb + 16gb mem stick, which is in excellent condition along, with the original flip case and a Spigen slim armor case and a protective screen, for 150€.
I'm replacing it with a Galaxy S6 32gb with a slim case and protective glass along with new headphones and also in excellent condition, for 200€.
For 50€ as true cost to go from S5 to S6, I think it's a pretty decent bargain people and also a nice upgrade. What do you people think?
Testing Samsung Gear VR and wondering why the software does not work on my Samsung Galaxy S7 edge ... find out that its only work when the com.facebook.appmanager is not deactivated WTF why????!!!!!
Yesterday my phone decided not to boot anymore. I needed some of the data that is in there, but I can't take the phone to samsung support to bring it back because it is highly sensible and TOP SECRET data.
So I was all on my own. I have never done anything similar to this so it was all shitty guides and forum post I had.
2 hours of researching pass.
I installed a software called Odin to reinstall android and maybe get my data back (better lost than in someone' else hands).
Not only did I have to fucking wait 3 hours of downloading android because my samsung account is free and thus samsung gives limited download speed, it didn't even fuckking work!
Now my phone is even more fucked and I don't know what to do2
That GPD Pocket looks nice. Just needs to reformat to Linux and it's perfect. Beats Samsung Galaxy S8 and Dex Station all the way
On my way for a weekend trip, hearing the flight attendants announce 5 or 6 times about how the Samsung Note 7 is banned.
Hey guys, looking for a new monitor in range of 200-300$. Looking at dell and samsung. Has to be 27”
Can you suggest any good ones (thin bazels if possible).
As developers, did anyone here get Bixby Voice early access? If so, what do you think it? How difficult is it to implement something with this level of control?1
Spent the day helping someone troubleshoot why they can't print from their Samsung tablet, because somehow as a DBA I "know how to do that stuff." Never figured out why it wasn't working.
My Samsung s6 just broke last week
tried to fix it, Nothing worked
which phone should i buy
Nexus 5x, Nexus 6p, Elephone P9000 or something else got anyone an idea?
my budget is around 250-300€ ± 25€13
Ok, there is one good thing. I've reached 333 +1's. Thank you all guys!
Sooo... a few days ago my Power supply from my home pc died. It was a good one, but I don't know.. it just burned nearly..
Today I've received a new one.
Plugged everything in. PC runs - or not?? WTF! Windows (yeah, at home still Windows ) isn't booting anymore. Hardware changes detected. I think, through the broken Power supply something got damaged.. shit.. and know what - don't have any Backup. Shit. At least some important data is on another hdd, which hopefully is fine. Now I'm trying to rescue the data with another hdd installing a fresh Windows.
Whish me luck!
PS: No, the power supply wasn't from Samsung, even when it exploded nearly :P1
I hate how I have battery issues with every smartphone/tablet I buy. They do well for 1 week and then I have to buy an additional charger for work because after 5 hours of only lying there it only has 50% which wouldnt be sufficient for 30 minutes car drive (Maps, Spotify, Bluetooth, GPS and mobile data)... Fml. I am tired of batteries. My next phone is going to be a huawei mate 10. Maybe I habe more luck with this one. I dont believe im Samsung anymore.
And anyway why the fuck do they introduce better CPUs more sensors etc whilst Keeping the battery capacity the same.. Instead they introduce fast charge etc. Another reason for me to go away from samsung is the fact they bloat each firmware up, my battery got worst after each system update (even the security ones) and also doing 14 factory resets didnt work. Support is shit. They also integrated Clean Master into the system and an "Antivirus Protection"... Can't get worst.
