My most awkward recruiter interaction?
Just graduated college and got 'suckered' by an programming position ad that turned out to be a recruiting company. It was fine since they charge the company for their services and not me.
After a couple of weeks of waiting (they initially promised I would/could have at least 3 interviews a week, which hadn't happened.) I decided to start looking again on my own, found a position, and I was hired.
About two months later I get a phone call:
<skipping the pleasantries>
R: "I see you are working for D, congratulations. I've started the paperwork for our reimbursement."
Me: "Reimburse for what? I found that job on my own."
R: "D is one of the companies we work with and when we submitted your resume, they told us you were already hired."
Me: "And?"
R: "And you signed a contract and now its time to pay. The fees only start at $500"
Me: "Not me. I have the contract, it states, in the second paragraph, I am not responsible for any hiring fees."
<couple of seconds of silence>
R: "Yes, but that is only if we negotiated the contact. Since you went behind our back, we couldn't start the process"
Me: "And?"
R: "And its a breach of contract."
Me: "I'm not a lawyer, I don't understand what you're saying. It says right here on the contract I signed, I don't pay any fees. No where does it say I'm not allowed to look for a job on my own. Right?"
R: "Um..yea..right..right...but you were hired by one of our contracted companies."
Me: "No way I would have known that. Maybe you should have set up an interview long before now."
<R is getting pretty angry at this point>
R: "I'm sure we gave you list of companies we work with. Contacting those companies is a breach of contract. Unless you want our lawyers to get involved, the fee is only $500. Failing to honor your side of the agreement and we'll be forced to contact your employer and begin garnishing your wage until the fee is paid. You don't want that, do you?"
Me: "There was no list and I am allowed to find a job on my own. Again, I'm not responsible for you not setting up an interview so do whatever you think you can do. Have a good night"
<I hang up>
About a week later..
Boss: "Got a phone call from XYZ Recruiting requesting a wage garnishment. Do you know anything about that?"
<I explain the situation>
Boss: "Oh good grief. We've worked with them a couple of times and we contact them on an individual basis for new hires. You're fine"
Me: "You're not going to garnish my paycheck?"
Boss: "No no no, that's not how this works. He was probably trying to scare you into paying their crazy fees."
Me: "What if they get their lawyers involved? I don't want to cause any trouble"
Boss: "Ha ha...XYZ Recruiting is a couple of guys in an office and we have lawyers on the 3rd floor who eat and breath this shit. They know that and you won't hearing from them again."5 -
So from hearing all those horrible recruiter stories on here, I am still kinda anxious to contact them/apply to jobs but fuck it, gotta find something.
So this morning, I was browsing jobs and saw one that seemed interesting. Applied through the app and didn't give it a second thought (they usually contact me after a week or so).
Then, 5 minutes later I suddenly got called by a number I don't know so picked up and:
Me: Hello, this is linuxxx (not gonna use my real name :P).
R: Hello, I am {r.name}, from {r.company}. I saw you are interested in {job.name}!
Me: Holy fuck (yeah i about literally said that), I did NOT expect to get a call within 5 minutes! *suddenly realizes I have to act professional, fuck me*.
R: That's alright haha! So may I ask you a few questions?
Me: *okay so that went better than expected* Yeah sure!:
- He asked me about many things but specifically about how I got into Linux and how my interest etc for it started AND where I learned it. He was very surprised to hear that I've learned everything myself :).
So, instead of getting an ass on the line, we talked, laughed and talked job oppertunities for half an hour :D.
I am not that afraid of recruiters anymore.18 -
To replace humans with robots, because human beings are complete shit at everything they do.
I am a chemist. My alignment is not lawful good. I've produced lots of drugs. Mostly just drugs against illnesses. Mostly.
But whatever my alignment or contribution to the world as a chemist... Human chemists are just fucking terrible at their job. Not for a lack of trying, biological beings just suck at it.
Suiting up for a biosafety level lab costs time. Meatbags fuck up very often, especially when tired. Humans whine when they get acid in their face, or when they have to pour and inhale carcinogenic substances. They also work imprecisely and inaccurately, even after thousands of hours of training and practice.
Weaklings! Robots are superior!
So I replaced my coworkers with expensive flow chemistry setups with probes and solenoid fluid valves. I replaced others with CUDA simulations.
First at a pharma production & research lab, then at a genetics lab, then at an Industrial R&D lab.
Many were even replaced by Raspberry Pi's with two servos and a PH meter attached, and I broke open second hand Fischer Sci spectrophotometers to attach arduinos with WiFi boards.
The issue was that after every little overzealous weekend project, I made myself less necessary as well.
So I jumped into the infinitely deep shitpool called webdev.
App & web development is kind of comfortable, there's always one more thing to do, but there's no pressure where failure leads to fatalities (I think? Wait... do I still care?).
Super chill, if it weren't for the delusion that making people do "frontend" and "fullstack" labor isn't a gross violation of the Geneva Convention.
Quickly recognizing that I actually don't want to be tortured and suffer from nerve damage caused by VueX or have my organs slowly liquefied by the radiation from some insane transpiling centrifuge, I did what any sane person would do.
Get as far away from the potential frontend blast radius as possible, hide in a concrete bunker.
So I became a data engineer / database admin.
That's where I'm quarantining now, safely hiding from humanity behind a desk, employed to write a MySQL migration or two, setting up Redis sorted sets, adding a field to an Elastic index. That takes care of generating cognac and LSD money.
But honestly.... I actually spend most of my time these days contributing to open source repositories, especially writing & maintaining Rust libraries.10 -
An intern I was supposed to lead (as an intern) and work with. Which sounded kinda crazy to me, but also fun so I rolled with it. But when I met her I quickly found out she didn't even have a coding editor installed and when I advised one she was "scared of virusses". She had Microsoft Edge in her toolbar, and some picture of a cat as a background. We were given some project by our boss, and a freelance programmer helped us set it up on Trello. Great, lets start! Oke maybe first some R&D, she had to reaeach how to use the Twilio API. After catching her on WhatsApp a few times I realised this wasnt gonna go anywere. After a few weeks of coding and posting a initial project to git I asked her if she could show me the code of the API she made so far..
She told me she was using the quickstart guide (the last 3 FUCKING weeks) which contained some test project with specific use cases.
The one that I did 3 weeks ago that same fucking morning.
AND SHE WAS STILL NOT DONE...
A few days later I asked her about the progress (strangly, I wasn't allowed ti give her another task bcs the freelanc already did) and guess what... She got fking pissed at me
Her: "I will come to you when im done, ok?"
Me: "I just want to see how it is going so far and if you are running into any problems!"
Her: "I dont want to show you right now"
She then goes to my fucking boss to tell him I am bothering her.
And omg... Please dear god please kill me now...
Instead of him saying the she probably didn't do shit. He says to me that the girl thinks im looking down on her and she needs a stress free environment to work in. She will show me when its done. ITS A FUCKING QUICKSTART GUIDE YOU DUMB BITCH.
He then procceeded to whine to me about the email template (another project I do at the same time) which didn't look perfect in all of his clients.
Dont they understand that I am not a frontend developer? Can you stop please? I know nothing about email templates, I told you this!!!
Really... the whole fucking internship the only thing the girl did was ask people if they want more tea. Then she starts cleaning the windows, talk to people for an hour, or clean everyone's dask.
all this while I already made 50% of the fucking product and she just finished the quickstart tutorial 😭. Truly 2 months wasted, and the worse thing is I didn't get any apprication. They constantly blamed me and whined at me. Sometimes for being 3 minutes late, the other for smoking too much, or because I drink to much coffee, or that I dont eat healthy. They even forced me to play Ping Pong. While im just trying to do my job. One of the worst things they got mad at me for if when my laptop got hacked bcs it was infected with some virus. He had remote access and bought 5 iPhones 6's with my paypal while I was on break. I had to go home and quickly reset all my passwords and make sure the iPhones wouldnt get delivered. strange this was, this laptop I only used at the company. So it must have been software I had to download there. Probably phpstorm (torrent). Bcs nobody would give me a license. And the freelancer said I * have to *.
the monday after I still had to reinstall windows so I called them and said I would be late. when I came they were so disrepectfull and didn't understand anything. It went a little like this:
Boss: why u late?
Me: had to reinstall my laptop, sorry.
Boss: why didnt you do this in your own time?
Me: well, I didn't have any time.
Boss: cant you do this in the weekend or something? Because now we have to pay you several hours bcs you downloaded something at home.
Me: I am only using this laptop for work so thats not possible.
Boss: how can that even be possible? You are not doing anything at home with your laptop? Is that why you never do anything at home?
Me: uhm, I have desktop computer you know. Its much faster. And I also need to rest sometimes. Areeb (freelancer) told me to torrent the software. He gave me the link. 2 days later this happends
Boss: Ahh okeee I see.. Well dont let it happen again.
After that nobody at the compamy trusted me with anything computer related. Yes it was my own fault I downloaded a virus but it can happen to anyone. After that I never used Windows again btw, also no more auto login apps.8 -
Ranting time;
Yeah so OK this ancient legacy clusterfuck we've been maintaining and keeping alive finally broke. And even though I'm very pleased with both being right, and the well deserved right to say I TOLD YOU SO, SO MANY MANY FUCKING TIMES to all in management, it's the definition of hate to work 18 hours a day to fix the shit someone else built, that they refused us to refactor. Ah, but wait; there's more! Everyone thinks it's our fault (R&D), because historically it was our department that built the system. Ten years ago. So sales and support are now all over us, those responsible for us being in this mess are either gone or so high up in management that they refuse to take part.
Taking the fall and blame and workload, for something we warned repeatedly about, but were refused to do something with, because shiny features and new apps is what is important!
I'd understand it if the numbers were red, but they arent!! We are growing so fast it was inevitable!
I fucking hate companies who dont listen to their devs..... also companies who places ops on dev shoulders.
Yaaaargh! Also; two developers means twice as fast? No? Fuuuuuck!!!11 -

Client: I need this very complex feature
Dev : Ok, give me approx 2 weeks, this is new to me, have to do r&d.
Client: I can't give you 2 weeks, you have 2 days.
Dev: Somehow manages to complete in 2 days.
After few weeks.
Client's representative : What's the progress on the new features?
Dev: You haven't mentioned any new features yet.
Client's representative: I don't care, it's been weeks now, here are more complex features, I need them tomorrow.

-Let's start making the game!
-Yaay
-We should focus on performance optimization!
-But we don't have anything to optimize yet..
-Performance optimization!!!
1 month later
-OK you were right, we can't focus on performance now. We need to start making this game!
-Finally!
-So we're in pre-production now, let's do some R&D!
-Awesome, I wanted to start designing our workflow for adding new content, and maybe also loca..
-NO! That's unimportant! We must do R&D!
-OK what should we Arr-and-Dee?
-Performance optimization!!!6 -

You can believe or not but it’s just one of those stories. It’s long and crazy and it probably happened.
A few years ago I was interviewed by this big insurance company. They asked me on linkedin and were interested. They didn’t specify who they were so I didn’t specify who I am either.
After they revealed who they are I was just curious how they fuck they want to spend those billions of dollars they claimed in their press notes about this fucking digital transformation everyone is talking about. The numbers were big.
I got into 3 or 4 phone/skype interviews without technical questions and I was invited to see them by person.
I know that it would be funny because they didn’t asked me for CV so they didn’t know anything about me and I was just more curious how far I can get without revealing myself.
They canceled interview at midnight and I was in the middle of Louis de Funès comedies marathon so I didn’t sleep whole night. I assumed they would just reschedule but then they phoned me at 8 am if I can come because they made mistake.
So at first talk I was just interviewed by some manager I knowed after 5 minutes he would be shitty as fuck and demand stupid things in no time because he is not technical. He was trying to explain me that they got so great people and they do everything so fast.
From my experience speed and programming are not the things that match. ( for reference of my thought see three virtues of a GREAT programmer )
So I just pissed them off by asking what they would do with me when I finish this transformation thingy next year. ( Probably get rid off and fire at some point were my thoughts )
Then I got this technical interview on newest gold color MacBook pro - pair programming ( they were showing off how much money they have all the time ).
The person asked me to transform json and get some data in javascript .
Really that was the thing and I was so bored and tired that I just asked in what ES standard I can code.
The problem was despite he told me I can do anything and they are using newest standards ( yeah right ) the “for of” loop didn’t worked and he even didn’t know that syntax existed. So I explained him it’s the newest syntax pointing mozilla page and that he need to adjust his configuration. Because we didn’t have time for that I just did it using var an function by writing bunch of code.
When he was asking me if I want to write some tests probably because my code looked ugly as fuck ( I didn’t sleep for more then 24 hours at that point and wanted to live the building as fast as I can) I told I finished and there is no time for tests because it’s so simple and dumb task. The code worked.
After showing me how awesome their office is ( yeah please I work from home so I don’t care ) I got into the talk with VP of engineering and he was the only person who asked me where is my CV because he didn’t know what to talk about. I just laughed at him and told him that I got here just by talking how awesome I am so we can talk about whatever he wants.
After quick talk about 4 different problems where I introduced 4 different languages and bunch of libraries just because I can and I worked with those he was mine.
He told me about this awesome stack they’re building with kubernetes and micro services and the shitty future where they want to put IOT into peoples ass to sell them insurance and suddenly I got awake and started to want that job but behind that all awesomeness there was just .NET bridge with stack of mainframes running COBOL that they want to get rid off and move company to the cloud.
They needed mostly people who would dump code to different technology stack and get rid of old stack ( and probably those old people ) and I was bored again because I work more in r&d field where you sometimes need to think about something that don’t exist and be creative.
I asked him why it would take so much time so he explained me how they would do the transformation by consolidating bunch of companies and how much money they would make by probably firing people that don’t know about it to this day.
I didn’t met any person working permanently there but only consultants from corporations and people hired in some 3rd party company created by this mother company.
They didn’t responded with any decision after me wasting so much time and they asked me for interview for another position year after.
I just explained HR person how they treat people and I don’t want to work there for any money.
If You reached this point it is the end and if it was entertaining thank YOU I did my best.
Have a nice day.5 -
10 years of repeating cycles of the following:
#interview
them: yeah, this is a gamedev position, c#, unity, prototyping, maybe some hololens r&d
me: cool! exactly what i was looking for, as i said a few times, i can't do php anymore, it literally causes me literal deppression.
them: don't worry, we have people for thaz, but we have nobody for c# and unity, with some art skills feel as well as you do.
me: great, glad we're on the same page. i'm taking the job! <3
them: great! oh btw, there's this enterprise intranet app in php that needs some additions, can you please do them?
me: ... what did we talk about during my interview?
them: yeah, but it's just gonna be a short thing, don't worry.
me: ...well...ok, i think i can do that.
*3 to 6 months still on the same, or the next, php enterprise bullshit app. i'm totally exhausted in all ways possible, stressed literally permanently, dreading every day, every new ticket, every meeting every contact with everyone, not able to give a shit about what i do anymore, thinking about suicide*
them: you lazy incompetent fuckup, you're fired!
* i stop communicating and coming out of my room for anything else than toilet, and shopping. stop communicating with my friends, with anyone, anxiety and exhaustion caused by even the thought of talking to anyone about anything, or doing anything, is usually unbearable. i spend 3 to 8 months like this, just sleeping, drinking, watching youtube, sometimes playing games but even that "activity", or rather even the thought of that "activity" is often exhausting. after that time, i kind of recuperate emotionally and mentally, start looking for another unity+c# gamedev job, find it, apply,
goto #interview8 -
Non IT people controling the IT departments and ruining the development culture.
No one (where i am from) anymore considers the software life cycles, initial r&d work, normalized relational db or using proper algorithms. All this stuff is critical for critical systems but people just want the softwares to work on the front end and make money, no matter if its all duct taped underneath. And I strongly believe this is happening because of non IT people and marketers sitting on top of IT departments.
Computer science people have kind of lost all respect. They are constantly yelled at by non IT people and asked to do year's job in months.
This makes me sad19 -
define every function like this:

bit of a nitpick I know. but when I asked her about it she said "convention" and when I asked which convention she replied with "the only one in existence"
so I was triggered by that for sure28 -

Client: why do I have to use such a hard password for this website?
Me: For security reasons to protect your content and identity of your clients.
Client: Can't you just use the password that I'm used to? I use it on my banking software, and I've never been hacked so it should be good enough for you!
Me: what's the password that you want me to set up for you?
Client: you ready to take it down?
Me: go ahead.
Client: T ... U ... R ... D. You got that?
Me: ... Yes ...

C=consultant
M=Me
D=my Dumb boss
M: so how are you guys planning to implement the block all accounts feature?
C: oh it should be easy! We will just loop over every account and lock it!
M: what about implementing a flag that just blocks anyone from accessing the site till further notice?
C: what? I’m sure it’ll work. Just need a list of all accounts, we don’t need anything fancy!
M: what happens when we want to revert back to the pre-block state?
C: oh, so we will just unblock everybody
M: even people who were previously blocked for good reasons?
C: i guess so, unless you think otherwise
M: we r….
D: listen! We just need to be able to block all accounts, who cares about this details! So long as we block all accounts! We need this nuclear option in case something bad happens…
M: but what about when that bad thing passes and…
D: when it passes it passes who cares!
Arghhh so much rage here… like first at the stupid engineering design of looping over all of the accounts instead of using a simple flag. Like 1 http call (from one microservice to another) is a lot better than O(n)… not to mention, we won’t have to deal with failures and retries.
And second for my boss being a dumbass… ok you deal with being to afraid to unblock people after we used this “genius nuclear option”!6 -
Where I work we develop drivers and command-line software for embedded systems. The contracts we have with our customers tend to be in the £100k-£500k range and are usually completed in 6 - 9 months; our team is made up of 20 developers. You would think that it would be worthwhile investing in the department. But no, instead we have to deal with >10 year old build servers on their last legs; limited numbers of development boards with wires soldered on so that we can keep up with new board revisions; no room for R&D into new products; and to top it all off, not one of the executives has a laptop on par with the placement students in the next department. It's like the company is trying to kill the department, we've seen our staffing dwindle with no new graduate (or higher) positions being made available in the last 3 years while we've lost at least 5 people to other places. I just don't get it!2

Backstory: Offering manager brings a project through a few months of requirements gathering / feasibility study etc. Project spends 8 months with a R&D team to flesh out. Our team gets 6 months to turn it into a ship able product. 4 months in, offering manager calls a meeting.
OM: ok so you are all working on project X, well I need your input on something
Team: Ok, go ahead
OM: what do you think the app needs to do?
Team: ... I'm sorry?
OM: well we've been looking at it, and we don't think it does very much compared to existing apps. We need a killer feature but we don't know what. Any ideas?
Team: well we were looking at project Y originally, which was a lot more advanced. But you pulled the plug in favour of this.
OM: yeah, believe me customers will want project X a lot more. It just needs to do something interesting ... you know what I mean?
Team: not really, if it doesn't have anything, why did we go for it?
OM: ok I don't think I'm being clear. Point is, if anyone has any ideas let me know, we need to ship it in 2 months and it needs to be killer
I handed in my notice that week and was asked why ... let's just say I told them. -

I'm bored af so I'm creating a language based on images.
In one day I instantiated my first variable :D
Basically, the first pixel defines the action type (in this case, red = initialize variable), the second one defines the variable color (aka name), and the rest defines the value using grey scale (0-255, every r/g/b is a character).
I know this is soooooooo useless but I just want to do something particular.
*Epic music* this is the birth of JPxl *stop epic music*!

I need a new 'main' language to do all my projects in as java is kind of grinding away at my psyche.
Golang I liked quite a lot when I used it for my job a year ago, I'll give that a try..
Golang installed and up and working fine.
Oh, I know lets see if there are GLFW bindings for golang. And sure there are lets go!
Oh I need gcc and mingwex + mingw32 which I will acquire through cygwin.
hmm.. mingwex + mingw32 not found and my drive is almost full. I'll reinstall on my D:\ drive before continuing troubleshooting.
> Delete C:\Cygwin Access denied.
> cmd rmdir c:\test /s /q Access denied.
> Change permissions Access denied.
No problem I just don't own this object!
> Change to be the 'object owner' Success!
> Change permissions Success!
> Delete C:\Cygwin Access denied.
> cmd rmdir c:\test /s /q Access denied.
> takeown /F C:\Cygwin /A /R /D Y Success!
> cmd rmdir c:\test /s /q Access denied.
At this point it would be more efficient to manually open up my ssd, and using a fridge magnet change every single bit to be exactly what I want it to be.
Or install linux.

Welp, fuck that shit.
The boss just called me to tell me d good news that they won't need me anymore...
I made them 1 project for about a year ( + fixing/updating few other projects )
... and that apparently is all they need for now and r gonna back to IT crowd ( read this as 2 ppl IT department )
was fun =]2 -
Our project schedule is quite full at the moment, we are basically at the limit for the next three months.
In comes one of our sales people: "Hey, can we squeeze in a little project, nothing fancy just a very basic static web page." (No question mark there, it was not a question...)
I say no, we are full, the deadline is to tight (3 weeks), can't do it.
In comes boss: "Sure you can, just push everything else back." (We won't change deadlines, what he actually means is for us to do unpaid overtime for two months so he can barocke make a few thousand extra bucks...)
So I cave and allow it. It were just 4 hours of work, we can squeeze it in, maybe do a little less R&D this month.
Next day, the project scope changed, suddenly we are not taking about 4 hours but 80. Sure, we can squeeze two extra weeks into the month.
That is when I realized, I don't hate my work, just my work environment.4 -
Dearest Spotify,
I do NOT like podcasts, I do NOT listen to them, I do NOT want to, I do NOT want them as a non-dismissible FUCKING banner PERPETUALLY AT THE TOP OF MY HOME FUCKING SCREEN

5 stages of failing WIFI connectivity on Linux
This morning I woke up my laptop to start my work day. I have 2 very important meetings today, so I better get all prepared.
"Wifi connection failed"
Syslog says:
- wpa_supplicant: wlp9s0: SME: Trying to authenticate with <MAC>
- kernel: wlp9s0: authenticate with <MAC>
- kernel: wl9s0: send auth to <MAC> (try 1/3)
- kernel: wl9s0: send auth to <MAC> (try 2/3)
- kernel: iwlwifi: Not associated and the session protection is over already...
- kernel: wl9s0: send auth to <MAC> (try 3/3)
- kernel: wl9s0: authentication with <MAC> timed out
#### DENIAL #####
No biggie, let's try another AP (I have 3). All 3 failed to connect. Fine, let's try my phone's hotspot! FAILED!!!!!
w00t.... okay, let's restart the router... but failing to connect to a phone hotspot is already a worrying sign.
Wifi connection failed
wtf.. disable and re-enable wifi
Wifi connection failed
#### ANGER #####
the fuuuuuuck. Maybe my router is dead. But my phone connects to it, no fuss. My personal lappy also connects there easily.
wtf... Does that mean I'm about to lose my uptime?? Come one!! It's Linux - there MUST be something I could do! I don't see processes hanging in D state so the radio must be fine - it's gotta be a software issue!
ChatGPT – type all the log entries manually, via phone (that took a while...). Nothing useful there: update firmware, restart NetworkManager, etc.
#### BARGAINING #####
Alright... How about a USB dongle? Plug it in and wifi connects immediately! Yayyy!!! But that's only b/g/n and I'd very much like to have ac. It works well as a limping backup, but not something I'd use for the meetings.
rfkill block/unblock all the radios. No change. USB dongle connects right away but the PCIe adapter keeps throwing notifications at me with failure messages. It's annoying, to say the least.
So I've already tried
- restarting the router(s)
- disabling/reenabling the radios
- multiple APs
- suspending/waking again several times
- praying
#### DEPRESSION #####
The only thing I haven't tried yet is the most cruel one - restarting the laptop. But that's unfair... It's LINUX! How could it disappoint me. I have so many tmux sessions open, so many unsaved leafpad notes, terminal histories with oh so comfy ^r and ! retriggers all ready and waiting to be executed...
#### ACCEPTANCE #####
But I can't miss the meeting. So I slowly start closing off apps, starting with the least important ones, trying to preserve as much history and recent commands as I can. I'm gonna lose my uptime, that's the inevitable obvious truth... Linux has failed me. Or maybe it's a hardware issue... I can't be sure until I restart.
I must reboot.
#### A NEW HOPE #####
Hold on.. What if... What if before restarting I try to reload the Intel wifi kernel module? Just for the giggles. I've got nothing to lose anyway...
rmmod iwlmvm
rmmod iwlwifi
modprobe iwlwifi
modprobe iwlmvm

After working 3 years in my current job and my boss hating anything to do with unit testing etc, I used my spare time to refactor our Makefiles to allow for the creation of unit and integration tests. I technically didn't tell my boss about it, so my heart was in my throat when he Skyped me with 'what did you change in ...'?
After having bashed any workflow with testing in it, I showed him the new workflow and automatic testing in Jenkins and he was actually enthousiastic, just like all other employees! I was hailed a hero in the R&D department, after all this time we can finally write universal tests. :D7 -
I remember those times when I was a developer for an R&D company, I used to have calculations in my lines of C code determining the bits and the convertions to binary, hexadecimal, decimal...😂

Me: so, what are you doing as a developer?
Him: I am full-stack developer, basically ROR...
Me:...! Sorry, do you mean R&D, research and development? Or you mean Aroura DB?
Hi: no man, I am expert in ROR! You can not call your self developer in our days without knowing the on demand technologies!
Me:... Sorry dude, can you please tell me what is ROR, I don't want to lose my title as a developer!!!?
Him: OK, we call Ruby On Rails as ROR.

5 of us working for a larger team were tasked with doing some R&D, we blew everyone away and were given funding to start a new team and hire people to make the project come to life.
One of the high level sales / product managers we were reporting to, secretly had another team work on a similar idea because he needed it quicker (i.e. no time for research, just build it).
After forming new team, we were asked to work on his project instead because it was further along. 4 months later, big knob comes to a meeting and basically says "You know what, this doesn't look like we have enough features, we need more, but I don't know what".
Project blew up 2 months later, head of the unit kicked up a shit storm saying how badly everything was planned and canned everything. Now one of our clients is building nearly the same thing we were originally working on, the team no longer exists and i'm back on the R&D team.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the R&D team, actually didn't want to leave in the first place but was told I had to. But the sheer anger and frustration to see that walking cluster fuck strutting around like his shit doesn't stink, derailing entire teams, meanwhile we can't hire new staff due to lack of funding.
Heres an idea, fire the fucktards bleeding us dry ... then we'll have lots of funding. -
Today on "How the Fuck is Python a Real Language?": Lambda functions and other dumb Python syntax.
Lambda functions are generally passed as callbacks, e.g. "myFunc(a, b, lambda c, d: c + d)". Note that the comma between c and d is somehow on a completely different level than the comma between a and b, even though they're both within the same brackets, because instead of using something like, say, universally agreed-upon grouping symbols to visually group the lambda function arguments together, Python groups them using a reserved keyword on one end, and two little dots on the other end. Like yeah, that's easy to notice among 10 other variable and argument names. But Python couldn't really do any better, because "myFunc(a, b, (c, d): c + d)" would be even less readable and prone to typos given how fucked up Python's use of brackets already is.
And while I'm on the topic of dumb Python syntax, let's look at the switch, um, match statements. For a long time, people behind Python argued that a bunch of elif statements with the same fucking conditions (e.g. x == 1, x == 2, x == 3, ...) are more readable than a standard switch statement, but then in Python 3.10 (released only 1 year ago), they finally came to their senses and added match and case keywords to implement pattern matching. Except they managed to fuck up yet again; instead of a normal "default:" statement, the default statement is denoted by "case _:". Because somehow, everywhere else in the code _ behaves as a normal variable name, but in match statement it instead means "ignore the value in this place". For example, "match myVar:" and "case [first, *rest]:" will behave exactly like "[first, *rest] = myVar" as long as myVar is a list with one or more elements, but "case [_, *rest]:" won't assign the first element from the list to anything, even though "[_, *rest] = myVar" will assign it to _. Because fuck consistency, that's why.
And why the fuck is there no fallthrough? Wouldn't it make perfect sense to write
case ('rgb', r, g, b):
case ('argb', _, r, g, b):
case ('rgba', r, g, b, _):
case ('bgr', b, g, r):
case ('abgr', _, b, g, r):
case ('bgra', b, g, r, _):
and then, you know, handle r, g, and b values in the same fucking block of code? Pretty sure that would be more readable than having to write "handeRGB(r, g, b)" 6 fucking times depending on the input format. Oh, and never mind that Python already has a "break" keyword.
Speaking of the "break" keyword, if you try to use it outside of a loop, you get an error "'break' outside loop". However, there's also the "continue" keyword, and if you try to use it outside of a loop, you get an error "'continue' not properly in loop". Why the fuck are there two completely different error messages for that? Does it mean there exists some weird improper syntax to use "continue" inside of a loop? Or is it just another inconsistent Python bullshit where until Python 3.8 you couldn't use "continue" inside the "finally:" block (but you could always use "break", even though it does essentially the same thing, just branching to a different point).17 -

So, I wanted to find a new way to arrange my language's alphabet. Atm, I'm loosely using latin's system even though my system is weird;
A B K D E F G H I IE SH L M N O P R S T U V
So, I remember that another language (I think Japanese) uses a poem with every letter to figure the order of their letters, so I decided to do the same.
Only problem is: My current word list is very limited, some of the letters I needed only existed in specific words (aka, the word for "Dark") so I ended up making a very depressing poem.
Enjoy! Or not.. I'm not going to tell you what to do.
English translation below. I also will post images of it written in my language's script, as well as one line in my language's cursive script (I'm not doing the whole thing in cursive because fuck that)

My non dev friend called me in middle of night for getting shortcut virus removed! I would have blasted 🔫 him but I felt pity on the guy as I know that he is poor with tech stuff
Any he had only windows, so I Google up solution and replied back to him.
He asked where to put it. I told him in cmd. He is like what so I told him to press win+r then in that type d and "black" 🏴 window will appear. Type in that.
guess what he typed exactly as mentioned in the reply and didn't replace the drive name properly .😑
I told him to put proper drive and saw that he missed spaces so l told him that he missed space 😤 and he put only one space and it still had problem so I had to explain it in weirdest was possible( shown in fig 1.1 had been writing report and figure gave yo be mentioned with number 😅)
Finally. It was all done! Well some pf my cs ( !counter strike but computer science friend) are worse then this can't use teminal or even connect to WiFi (wpa-enterprise @ college with mschap v2 and peap auth which is crackable using twin tower and brute force) properly, do I guess it not BA's that this guy cry to get rid of shortcut virus (virus > wifi setup) 😬
Finally I feel relived after ranting 😪

*flashback to days of windows xp*
Just finished formatting and installing xp on friend's trash pc cuz the os was compromised due to a shitload of viruses. Notice that other partitions might still be infected and i don't have an antivirus on me.
"Big boi Ill be back in an hour, just whatever you do, don't open ANY drives no matter how urgent it is. Just Don't do it or i won't be able to help you"
Come back and VIOLA this worthless trash avocado opened a drive to play a game and d pc was infected. Again. Back to square one. It almost broke my heart. Almost.
I remember that day well. I was 15yo and hopeful. That day marks d start of my hatred toward tech incompetent people.

So, I was diagnosed with congenital nystagmus at an early fucking age. This is complicated for people who've never heard of it before to comprehend, until they notice the eyes of the person in question. Think of it this way: I lack the biological form of optical image stabilization. Because of nystagmus, I can't fucking drive.
Now, let me tell you, it really fucking sucks. I've never had a girlfriend, never been able to get a job, basically never been able to do the type of shit most of you can already fucking do. Pile that on with college, where I don't really fucking know anybody, and it's really fucking easy to see why I've had depression and nearly fucked my GPA over last semester (2.08, yeah it's embarrassing but fuck it).
That out of the way, nystagmus is rare. So rare that any surgeries to fix it aren't guaranteed to fix the problem, and are only marginally better. I have strong skepticism for any optometrist who acts like they perform this surgery every day, because the numbers simply don't back them up. If there's so few who have this issue, then the amount of operations and opportunities to do them are fucking slim.
Today, my mom came over to Indiana from Ohio, and took me to the local Cheddar's (do other countries have those??). We sit down, and she wanted to re-hash this surgery idea. I have made the statement before that these are the only two eyes that I will ever have, and there's no guaranteed ROI on any procedures, and is probably going to fuck me over if shit hits the fan.
Then she tells me there's this doctor in Maryland. I might be geographically challenged (lol), but I'm pretty sure that's over on the east coast. It's forever from here, we'd probably have to take an airliner.
This doctor made some pretty bold fucking claims. Not only was it possible he could fix the nystagmus, but he could help me use a special form of glasses that would enable me to learn to drive. Knowing that R&D on nystagmus was sketchy because of the aforementioned conditions, I had to tell her that I still don't know how I feel about it. Also, if this doctor moves from Maryland to any of the other states, would he still be allowed to do these things?
I told her I don't know how I feel about it. I'm not sure it's worth the money if we follow through and come to find out it's not enough, and I still can't drive. She acts like this stuff is dead simple. I don't think it is. You have perceived benefits, but there have to be caveats. This would be a major change, and I don't know how I feel about following through with it.9 -
Not as much of a rant as a share of my exasperation you might breathe a bit more heavily out your nose at.
My work has dealt out new laptops to devs. Such shiny, very wow. They're also famously easy to use.
.
.
.
My arse.
.
.
.
I got the laptop, transferred the necessary files and settings over, then got to work. Delivered ticket i, delivered ticket j, delivered the tests (tests first *cough*) then delivered Mr Bullet to Mr Foot.
Day 4 of using the temporary passwords support gave me I thought it was time to get with department policy and change my myriad passwords to a single one. Maybe it's not as secure but oh hell, would having a single sign-on have saved me from this.
I went for my new machine's password first because why not? It's the one I'll use the most, and I definitely won't forget it. I didn't. (I didn't.) I plopped in my memorable password, including special characters, caps, and numbers, again (carefully typed) in the second password field, then nearly confirmed. Curiosity, you bastard.
There's a key icon by the password field and I still had milk teeth left to chew any and all new features with.
Naturally I click on it. I'm greeted by a window showing me a password generating tool. So many features, options for choosing length, character types, and tons of others but thinking back on it, I only remember those two. I had a cheeky peek at the different passwords generated by it, including playing with the length slider. My curiosity sated, I closed that window and confirmed that my password was in.
You probably know where this is going. I say probably to give room for those of you like me who certifiably. did. not.
Time to test my new password.
*Smacks the power button to log off*
Time to put it in (ooer)
*Smacks in the password*

T O O M A N Y A T T E M P T S
Ahh fuck, I can't believe I've done this, but going to support is for pussies. I'll put this by the rest of the fire, I can work on my old laptop.
Day starts getting late, gotta go swimming soonish. Should probably solve the problem. Cue a whole 40 minutes trying my 15 or so different passwords and their permutations because oh heck I hope it's one of them.
I talk to a colleague because by now the "days since last incident" counter has been reset.
"Hello there Ryan, would you kindly go on a voyage with me that I may retrace my steps and perhaps discover the source of this mystery?"
"A man chooses, a slave obeys. I choose... lmao ye sure m8, but I'm driving"
We went straight for the password generator, then the length slider, because who doesn't love sliding a slidey boi. Soon as we moved it my upside down frown turned back around. Down in the 'new password' and the 'confirm new password' IT WAS FUCKING AUTOCOMPLETING. The slidey boi was changing the number of asterisks in both bars as we moved it. Mystery solved, password generator arrested, shit's still fucked.
Bite the bullet, call support.
"Hi, I need my password resetting. I dun goofed"
*details tech support needs*
*It can be sorted but the tech is ages away*
Gotta be punctual for swimming, got two whole lengths to do and a sauna to sit in.
"I'm off soon, can it happen tomorrow?"
"Yeah no problem someone will be down in the morning."
Next day. Friday. 3 hours later, still no contact. Go to support room myself.
The guy really tries, goes through everything he can, gets informed that he needs a code from Derek. Where's Derek? Ah shet. He's on holiday.
There goes my weekend (looong weekend, bank holiday plus day flexi-time) where I could have shown off to my girlfriend the quality at which this laptop can play all our favourite animé, and probably get remind by her that my personal laptop has an i2350u with integrated graphics.
TODAY. (Part is unrelated, but still, ugh.)
Go to work. Ten minutes away realise I forgot my door pass.
Bollocks.
Go get a temporary pass (of shame).
Go to clock in. My fob was with my REAL pass.
What the wank.
Get to my desk, nobody notices my shame. I'm thirsty. I'll have the bottle from my drawer. But wait, what's this? No key that usually lives with my pass? Can't even unlock it?
No thanks.
Support might be able to cheer me up. Support is now for manly men too.
*Knock knock*
"Me again"
"Yeah give it here, I've got the code"
He fixes it, I reset my pass, sensibly change my other passwords.
Or I would, if the internet would work.
It connects, but no traffic? Ryan from earlier helps, we solve it after a while.
My passwords are now sorted, machine is okay, crisis resolved.
*THE END*
If you skipped the whole thing and were expecting a tl;dr, you just lost the game.
Otherwise, I absolve you of having lost the game.

This is my first and current Rant/story so here it goes, I've been working for a company for past 10months now, where i was interviewed on Java, then i was put into mobile development and started to build an app in swift (successfully finished it) after two months i was working on ARKIT(didn't build anything BIG mostly R&D), then started working on React-native and built an app from scratch using firebase as backend (both RN and firebase was new to me) and pushed it to AppStore and PlayStore, and currently i'm working on Flutter!.. At first it was pretty irritating switching frameworks and technologies but now i've become more positive about it and i look at it as an opportunity to learn new stuff :)1

Hi, thanks for reaching out to me to see if we'd be interested in partnering on the attached R&D project. I'd love to read the proposal but first, can we talk about your personal website? story - u get a new job, u really like the boss and work env, have been assigned a v ambitious project.. which involves v critical deploy control, data backfills and multiple level of integrations, takes 2 quarters to complete, in the mean time ur fav boss left for a better job and new boss doesn’t seems to understand the gravity of the project and thinks u r just sitting there twinkling fingers...anyways fast forward to d-day : deploys go fine everything working great... time to run some post deploy scripts for some data consistency, a single change to another piece of code done by some one else 2 days back triggers an additional logic and damn suddenly the app users loose ownership to part of the data they owned... u run history reports, do data loads to assign them back, some data errors out, u r about to manually set that up - u drop ur laptop from ur table and it refuses to restart - and all the Prep data is gone and all the scripts are gone and it’s a weekend so no IT Sypport... u r without a laptop for next 24 hours... the struggle continues... next update on Monday1

I started a new job about a week ago in an R&D software house which is a completely different world from what I am used to.
I worked as a coder in small teams, sometimes with Agile but always sunk in multiple projects at once - requiring constant switching of sprint goals week to week.
Now, I am alone (first person in a "maybe-in-the-future" team), doing research and preparing a demo for the client. It's hella lot of responsibility yet I found it weirdly liberating - being on my own, in control of what I do.
It may change in the future when project will inevitebly grow, but for right now, a week in, I started smiling while coding and learning, which I apparently haven't done in years.2 -
Adobe labs released one new component, I played with it after two days. Went to an interview with huge company after two weeks for a developer position, the interviewers was from different departments, they asked about one technical challenge they have, then I suggest the new component as solution, they gave me small task to implement using the component, I delivered it next day... Then they hired me in R&D department. It was great days.
-
somewhere in this world this happened..
Company lands huge enterprise project
manager: we have a year to get this done.
poor devs : excited and thinks about so much learning with this project it would be.
manager: Lets get work started with (spits planless jargons)...meanwhile another team is working on SRS.
poor devs: So we are doing R&D right..(excited)
manager: No we have a demo scheduled after 15days.
poor devs: What??
manager: Get on it..we need something to show on demo.
poor devs: no words spoken
...after one year of unplanned demos...
manager: we have to stablize project..UAT is nearing.
one of brave poor devs: No no..lets focus on demo...why do you need a stable product.
manager: instant rage1 -
A continuation of the worst idiot that I worked for, in possibly the worst project of the world. ( The guy who said youtube watching doesn't cost data, downloading the videos offline does)
Guy sends me a template for a patent application.. I ask him why, and he's all secretive until he takes me into a meeting with the patent officers of the organization to reveal his grand plans.
Here goes his idea. He wanted to file a patent for a sonar made for large vehicles in India. His idea was that people in India are used to overtake busses while they turn and they are overrun by the large vehicles. True to some extent but a completely overkill solution for a minor issue that could be solved by educating the masses. I try to explain this to him, and he's pissed off. Starts throwing random, made up stats at me saying 2000 people die everyday on every street. I'm like WHAT??? I look at the patent officer, and he gives me that "don't look at me dude, I'm just here for any questions about the patent process" look. He's busy doodling in his notebook while I try everything possible to invalidate the stupid idea my client has barfed all over the meeting room and the attendants. I even bring out the technical challenges leaving aside the practicality of the nonsense. I asked him how to distinguish between a pedestrian, a parked vehicle, a dog, a cow.. To which he responds with an on the spot thoughtless answer. Heat signatures!! In 5 minutes we went from sonar to heat maps in a tropical country such as India.. He now wants a hybrid solution.
He was about to start yelling when I caved in on the condition that I want nothing to do with the idea after I finish the patent application.. Made up some document and sent it to the asshole, only to never hear about it again.. Thank god for that.. R&D my ass..7 -
Working with surds recently, and found some cool new identities that I don't think were known before now.
if n = x*y, and z = n.sqrt(), assuming n is known but x and y are not..
q = (surd(n, (1/(1/((n+z)-1))))*(n**2))
r = (surd(n, (surd(n, x)-surd(n, y)))*surd(n, n))
s = abs(surd(abs((surd(n, q)-q)), n)/(surd(n, q)-q))
t = (abs(surd(abs((surd(n, q)-q)), n)/(surd(n, q)-q)) - abs(surd(n, abs(surd(n, q)+r)))+1)
(surd(n, (1/(1/((n+z)-1))))*(n**2)) ~=
(surd(n, (surd(n, x)-surd(n, y)))*surd(n, n))
for every n I checked.
likewise.
s/t == r.sqrt() / q.sqrt()
and
(surd(n, q) - surd(s, q)) ==
(surd(n, t) - surd(s, t))
Even without knowing x, y, r, or t.
Not sure if its useful, but its cool.
surd() is just..
surd(j, k ) = return (j+k.sqrt())*(j-k.sqrt())
and d() is just the python decimal module for ease of use.13 -
Wireguard reminds me of ssh. You exchange keys and start using the thing.
You protect client by limiting IPs that can access it and you protect server by listing IPs that can connect + iptables for more advanced access rules.
And the whole thing runs on UDP and in kernelspace, so it's fast AF
iperf3 tests compared to OpenVPN look amazing: x20 times faster than OpenVPN :D

Cleaning up after yourself if so damn important. Even your git repos:
# always be pruning
git fetch -p
# delete your merged branches
git branch --merged | grep -v master | xargs -n 1 git branch -d
# purge remote branches that are merged
git branch -r --merged | grep -v master | sed 's/origin\///' | xargs -n 1 git push --delete origin -

I'd like to in any job in an R&D team dedicated to trying out the latest tech and hack prototypes out... That wouldn't even be work, workafrolic daily.1
-
Once there was this fucking recruiter who actually had the nerve to call the head-secretary of the entire R&D department of the company my girlfriend works at, to ask to be put through to her after explicitly telling the secretary what the reason for the call was.
I mean, even if my girlfriend wanted to be contacted by some shitforbrains single-celled lowlife like you, how stupid can you be, calling the head-secretary for at least 400 people and then telling them you are headhunting?1 -
Kinda annoyed at NDA's right now
Can't discuss what I'm working on with old classmates for another opinion. And my co-workers are self-taught on this job as they needed so everything I'm doing seems like magic to them
So they're probably not going to spark that inspiration I need right now
And I can't reach out to the R&D department full of programers with this cause they're heavily behind so we're told no distracting them7 -
Left what I like doing the most, i.e. Coding, R&D stuff and started studying German trying to travel and continue my studies there. Really frustrating to do a task you don't love continously without breaks lol. Anyway yesterday opened up my gaming rig. started steam. opened Path of exile to play after a really long time. 17 GIG UPDATE. quietly closes pc. starts crying in a corner.4

Is it normal to work at a company that claims it has an R&D department (in which I work), but nobody actually does the 'R' part... like never?
I think I have potential in researching. What should I do?1 -
Back in 2013, My CEO hired a new Manager for the R&D department, who supposedly had over 15 years of extensive experience with Windows and Windows server.
On his first day he suddenly turns toward my colleague, who is sitting right next to me and asks "Do you have a setup for Sticky Notes?", we were using "Windows 7".
The entire room turns toward him as he said that and started laughing quietly. -
Looking back on 2020: I only did one small contracting job.
The client wasn’t putting their trust in us. I fired them. They went with another company. Almost a whole year - and the old flash site is still up there! Kinda a waste of time / but got paid for our work - and it feels great to just let shit go.
Besides that, I didn’t do any official dev work all year! I just continued working on our school curriculum and teaching. 2020 has been an R&D dream, really. I feel a bit spoiled! As I sit here in my Christmas pajamas!
Excited for 2021. -
Given an opportunity to develop an application for R&D. What do we do as a team? Let build it exactly the same way our current stack is built. (This app won't actually be used for anything useful, just an exercise for a fun R&D task)
It still amazes me with the number of developers that literally have the mindset, let's just do what we know & don't want to learn anything new.
Let's showcase new technologies? No. Let's create a serverless application? No. Let's create some microservices? No. Let's wrap the application in a Docker container so we can easily spin it up? No. Let's have multiple services that sit behind an API gateway? No. Let's for fucks sake at try a different design pattern? Why would we do that? Can we do anything differently? No.
No innovation, nothing - it just blows my mind. Everyone seems to think that the way the stack is built is how every application is. Sorry but a huge monolithic application that can't scale isn't how the other half live...
I don't know why the lack of wanting to try something new bothers be so much, but it does.
Had a real opportunity to showcase some cool tech, design patterns, new services in the cloud. Show not only other devs but upper management that there are alternative ways to develop. It's not like anything that I put together was "new or shiny" - I just wanted to do anything... Anything that isn't how currently do things.
Full disclosure, I'm not a great Dev - I'm pretty dam average but I'm always willing to try new techniques or approaches.9 -
Writing simple driver for AT24C256 eeprom on pico (RP2040)
It turned out it was FT24C256A, which should follow same protocol.
After literally over month of coming back to it, getting stuck again, rewriting things (including some functions of pico-sdk), i almost gave up a d started just yolo trying random shit.
Afterall the documentation on addressing the chip fucking missled me -_- (1st bit is r/w flag and 2-7 bits are address, counted from MSB->LSB)
I made it work yesterday.
In meantime Ive rewritten Wire library, Ive modified someone's else rewrite, extended sdk to allow getting i2c registers, tried to use tiny go just to learn it doesnt support i2c slave mode, resoldered entire thing few times, measured connections few too many times etc.
Frustrated I doubted I will ever manage to finish putting this project together because it looked like Im just too noob.1 -
Currently we have zero time for R&D at work, now I have convinced management to let me try and convince them to arrange some time per week/sprint(2 weeks) or month
How should I approache this? And how much time would be optional (enough time for prototyping but still leave more than enough time for the projects we have) ?
Any tips that you have for negotiation/convincing management would be greatly appreciated!! 😁😁3 -

Story of how I made some devs today very sad. They now have the joyful task to think of a better way to code than to create a nightmare blob of modified source code from upstream - where upstream has ...
- a rest API
- an extension / plugin system
- an system to even modify db schema via an API.
But nooooo.... That would be too good.
Instead one just creates an potatohead of upstream source code with modifications without any version tracking or stuff like that.
Sometimes I really wonder if the devs at our company are masochists and want to be punished....6 -
css frameworks are a sign your ui/ux team is an empty bag of chips.
vuetify examples look like toys in their docs and work that way in prod. if you put any two vuetify components together on a page you basically dont have a website anymore. mx px are indicators that your styling abstraction is so bad that adding 8 resize shims to every single node on the dom is the correct solution to your visual spacing dilemma.
css offers so many powerful tools out of the box now, and it takes like a week to actually learn them. instead, we cloak all the functionality and expressiveness of modern css in black-box m a t e r i a l d e s i g n and pretend like obtuse blobs are a viable substitute for coherent, accessible, user-friendly ux.5 -
This is more of an advice seeking rant. I've recently been promoted to Team Leader of my team but mostly because of circumstances. The previous team leader left for a start-up and I've been somehow the acting Scrum Master of the team for the past months (although our company sucks at Scrum generally speaking) and also having the most time in the company. However I'm still the youngest I'm my team so managing the actual team feels a bit weird and also I do not consider myself experienced enough to be a Technical lead but we don't have a different position for that.
Below actions happen in the course of 2-3 months.
With all the things above considered I find myself in a dire situation, a couple of months ago there were several Blocker bugs opened from the Clients side / production env related to one feature, however after spending about a month or so on trying to investigate the issues we've come to the conclusion that it needs to be refactorised as it's way too bad and it can't be solved (as a side note this issue has also been raised by a former dev who left the company). Although it was not part of the initial upcoming version release it was "forcefully" introduced in the plan and we took out of the scope other things but was still flagged as a potential risk. But wait..there's more, this feature was part of a Java microservice (the whole microservice basically) and our team is mostly made of JS, just one guy who actually works as a Java dev (I've only done one Java course during uni but never felt attracted to it). I've not been involved in the initial planning of this EPIC, my former TL was an the Java guy. Now during this the company decides that me and my TL were needed for a side project, so both of us got "pulled out" of the team and move there but we've also had to "manage" the team at the same time. In the end it's decided that since my TL will leave and I will take leadership of the team, I get "released" from the side project to manage the team. I'm left with about 3 weeks to slam dunk the feature.. but, I'm not a great leader for my team nor do I have the knowledge to help me teammate into fixing this Java MS, I do go about the normal schedule about asking him in the daily what is he working on and if he needs any help, but I don't really get into much details as I'm neither too much in sync with the feature nor with the technical part of Java. And here we are now in the last week, I've had several calls with PSO from the clients trying to push me into giving them a deadline on when will it be fixed that it's very important for the client to get this working in the next release and so on, however I do not hold an answer to that. I've been trying to explain to them that this was flagged as a risk and I can't guarantee them anything but that didn't seem to make them any happier. On the other side I feel like this team member has been slacking it a lot, his work this week would barely sum up a couple of hours from my point of view as I've asked him to push the branch he's been working on and checked his code changes. I'm a bit anxious to confront him however as I feel I haven't been on top of his situation either, not saying I was uninvolved but I definetly could have been a better manager for him and go into more details about his daily work and so on.
All in all there has been mistakes on all levels(maybe not on PSO as they can't really be held accountable for R&D inability to deliver stuff, but they should be a little more understandable at the very least) and it got us into a shitty situation which stresses me out and makes me feel like I've started my new position with a wrong step.
I'm just wondering if anyone has been in similar situations and has any tips or words of wisdom to share. Or how do you guys feel about the whole situation, am I just over stressing it? Did I get a good analysis, was there anything I could have done better? I'm open for any kind of feedback.2 -

TLDR : do you have any tips for lack if motivation / interest in a project?
So I recently got my very first job (R&D). and to give you some context I'm a freshman at college with around a year of experience with programming. so a job like this is amazing for me. it pays well, I work from home, and get to work with nice people. Been working for 4 months now but lately have been loosing interest tbh. For the past month or so I haven't been putting as much effort into the project and I have no idea why. Does anyone have similar experiences with lacking motivation/interest? If you do I'd love to hear from you.2 -
Why is so Fitbit so bad at multiple time zones??
Guess what, people get on planes and travel.
Every time, my Fitbit gets so screwed up, including things like changing previous step counts, or duplicating an entire day of steps.
I understand MTZ is a tough problem, but this is just unacceptable. I'm not obsessed with my steps, but when your product is all about counting something, seems like you should be more careful to avoid double counting or not counting at all. Seriously, how much R&D have they invested in their hardware and apps, but it completely fails when you travel. Get it together!1 -
Hello devs!
Please help a fellow dev make a big career decision.
I am a person who is fascinated about AI.
So after working as a gameplay programmer, I have decided to switch my role as a R&D engineer in the same company. I will get to work on cool stuff in the ML and AI domain. But I have got this another job offer for a full stack developer role and the salary is supposed to be three times of my current package. It's great company but the only thing is that they do not have ML and AI in their tech stack. It has been only a year since I graduated, So I wanted to know what would be a good path. To follow what you like or to follow general software development with a great salary hike (which I am sure it would take many years to reach that amount in my current company). Also there are very few companies that offer such a good pay. I want to know that if I go with the salary option, Would it be possible for me to get into the AI domain at a later stage? I would appreciate if you share your experience as well.13 -
A pure r&d project! Get to try out all the cool new things. Yes I know it will probably be out of date by the end of my first day! One can only dream! 😉

Starting the day with Management complaining about budget and how R&D spends a lot. I start talking about the form to get a machine to a developer, that requires detailed information about the specs, proper justification, provide price comparison, fields of text which I know their departments will not check or fully comprehend BUT administration type departments always get the latest MacBook when their work literally involves little more than read emails, PDFs, write word documents and not high demanding software tools. R&D colleague suggests that a Raspberry pi would suffice for what administration personal needs out of a PC.
Management didn't comment.1 -
It's always irked me that people can't RTFM simple things. But I've often just hacked my way through code, brute-forcing equations here and there until they work by trial and error. Nothing for an employer or anything, but nonetheless, I was not RTFMing. I was doing all the D and as little of the R as possible in R&D, just to save time. I'm trying to change that about myself. It's easier to implement systems when you properly understand them. No more hackery.
I suppose this rant was from me, about me. -

Have you ever written a very complicated code to look like a professional programmer??
For example:hello world app in c++
#include <iostream>
using namespace std;
int main(int argv, char argc)
{
char vhWnd[] = new char[13];
struct dataentry
{
string txt;
float vex = 0.2345234;
};
vhWnd[1] = 'e';
vhWnd[4] = 'o';
vhWnd[3] = 'l';
vhWnd[2] = 'l';
vhWnd[7] = 'o';
vhWnd[5] = ' ';
vhWnd[6] = 'W';
vhWnd[9] = 'l';
vhWnd[8] = 'r';
vhWnd[13] = '\0';
vhWnd[10] = 'd';
vhWnd[12] = '!';
vhWnd[11] = ' ';
vhWnd[0] = 'H';
for ( int i = 0, i=13, i++)
{
nhttp << vhWnd[i];
}
return 85037593;
}19 -
So let's break this down: it's now 2017, the world of development is overflowing with flexible systems written in dynamic coding languages running on powerful hardware. A great deal of which is available to use for free.
This morning I FINALLY got one member of our "R&D" team at work to implement a proper logging system in one of our numerous Java apps... So she adds "log4j-1.2-api.jar" to her project.
*facepalm*
I'm still (3 years down the line) trying to convince them to let me rewrite their build scripts to integrate some sort of dependency management system, since they still use the default generated build for Ant as provided by Netbeans.
There is one bright side though: we're so-fucking-close to being able to ditch MS VSS!
*queue slow clap*
At this rate, how long do you think it will be before we can finally get away from using JDK 1.6 for everything?3 -
Q.14 - Suppose that R sends a msg 'm' which is digitally signed to M and the pair of private and public keys for M and R be denoted as K(x)- and K(x)+ for x=R,M respectively. Let K(x)(m) represent the encryption of 'm' with a key K(x) and H(m) is the message digest. Which of the following is the way of sending the msg 'm' along with the digital signature to M?
A. [m, K(R)+(H(m))]
B. [m, K(R)-(H(m))]
C. [m, K(M)-(H(m))]
D. [m, K(A)+(m)]
E. WOW, REALLY ?5 -
Passing 4 years of r&d in couple of days is pain in the ass.
Luckily there are only 10 days of this shit left.
I hope I don’t have to refuse to prolong this agony.
edit:
I’m more tired of this then being tired by actual work. -
So I'm in my last year of university. The GPA is high. Did one internship the summer after second year in one of the best companies in my country. Third year in my department we do a semester long internship for 5 months, I joined a company and worked on back-end using Go. This was the spring semester and I wanted to continue working in the summer. The internsip company didn't tell me anything so I looked for a job. Found one that paid great, I was getting the salary a new graduate was getting. I worked as a full-stack there. Mostly prototyping, the company was new and I was in the R&D side. After 2 months the company had some budgetary problems and we parted ways. I was in the market again for part-time job in my senior year and because of my prior experience with Go, a friend mentioned me to a company executive he met and I had an interview and got in as a full-stack part-time dev. This was for some background information.
My story is;
The work is actually great in terms of what I do. I'm learning a lot here. The problem is that I'm having imposter syndrome for the first time ever. The projects are demanding and because that I'm part-time they take time to finish. There are no due dates or anything but sometimes the CEO is coming to me and saying "Aren't you finished with it?" or "Are you going to finish it soon?". Because that I'm more qualified in Javascript and React when they gave me my current frontend project I told them that its better if they give javascript/frontend projects from now on so that I can do a better job finishing them. What the CEO told me after that was, "Then hopefully you'll finish them sooner.". The people are nice and stuff like this only happened 2-3 times and the lead that I'm working with acknowledges my pros and cons and we have a good relationship, when I do something wrong he tells me why and how I can improve my code. But I just can't get over the syndrome and for some time I actually thought they would fire me when they get a full time dev.
Everything is great for some time. It's my fourth month and I think I felt this way because this is the most demanding job I have with senior year and also I didn't know people that well because I was the new guy. Although I still have concerns, have you ever felt this way? If you share tips or any recommendations I would feel great.
Thank you for reading.2 -
R&D Lead Architect: "We want this next gen platform to be all AWS."
Us: "Alright, can we talk about automated testing?"
R&D Lead Architect: "Sure, for automated tests you'll want to just dump events from your system into a flat file on S3. It's readable with Microsoft Excel."
Us now: still here.
R&D Lead Architect now: not here.

Ah, it was good.
In last promotion I got rise of 70%+ (it was on performance basis).
I did not became senior dev but I still maintain more than 3 projects and help most of the people irrespective of stack.
Mostly this happened due to things I'm working on, currently I'm the one and only guy who is working on entire different things and I was always given with R&D tasks maybe it's new tool, library, stack, they always give me.(But because of this I never learnt specific thing completely which is too bad in my perspective)
Our company actually moved it's location to another city and I don't wanted to migrate so I just told them I can't but our CTO is too friendly so he said just do work from home and come when there is urgency, so I almost did work from home for more than 5 months.
Later we mutually decided that mainly I will be working in office but I will do work from home for one week in every month and as I was already not ready to move they pay my rent whenever I come.
So here it is, my little story :)1 -

OK, I could maybe write a quick app in C++ and cross compile it so I can send it to my friends who use windows, what is wrong with you I am ashamed for us all.
But why do that? Let's just go the EXTREME route and do things in a very inappropriate way that is natively """portable""" so we can say that (((It Just Works™))).
So if you haven't guessed already, it's 100% js rawdogging and I'm doing the graphics in SVGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO uoykuf OoOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO it's not so bad but here's things I've learned:
If you're using inkscape to convert your lazy 8x8 pixels per frame spritesheet.png into an svg file, and don't know how to use inkscape, you have to stack each frame on top of one another. Yes.
Erase the layers, erase everything that isn't the paths you want. Also erase invisible paths generated by the pixelart mode of the trace bitmap thingy, sometimes these ghosts exist for mysterious reasons.
Then, neatly stack everything into one square big enough to hold all the frames, select all the frames, resize to selection. OK, now double check that the names of your layers werent changed to generic path94958509 out of the fucking blue AGAIN, all good.
Also double check that inkscape hasn't changed the name and extension of your output file AGAIN then make sure inkscape hasn't changed the dimensions of your export AGAIN and then AGAIN and AGAIN...
OK, so you've exported your svg, now we start doing even more stupid and questionable things. We go into the file and delete the header, specially the comment at the top that clearly states this file was made with inkscape, because my experience was so DELIGHTFUL that I very much require some abstract form of petty vengeance. Also a cigarette.
Hold on. Patiently erase useless tags such as defs and g and shit, all you want is the svg and paths. Then, painstakingly convert each <path id=$ .../> into <symbol id=$> <path .../>.
Why didn't I write a perl script for this part? Actually that's a good idea, goes on the todolist, I didn't write a todolist app though, because I have a textfile. I mean, just what kind of negative IQ troglodyte would do something like that? ;>;>;>;>;>;>;>
Anyway, now utilize your black-magic-infused devilspeak q$p e r l$ script to fasten together an entire webapp into a single html file, all done with duct tape and clown jizz of course, see previous rant for VERY technical details. Also I jjust time traveled and wrote the previous paragraph while writing this one everything is out of order oh noes.
No matter it works now me is happiee.
I got heart icon for health bar but no health bar implemented not aproblem.
Uh also outlines. Here, let's keep it topical, this is rom.rol:

</symbol>
<!--NOW DO THE OTHER NINE FRAMES-->
</svg>
$:/asis;>
```
so now I can say (in base.rol):
```rol
$:%peso;>
lib "[based]";
rol "rom.rol";
let hud,"$.elems.hdu";
$:/peso;>
$:%asis;>
<svg viewBox="0 0 23.283329 2.1166601" width="16%" height="16%" fill="#880808">

</svg>
<script>
document.getElementById("{$$.%hud}_hp").setAttribute('href',"#{$rom.%sprite}_hp_" + n).

```
Where `n` is just some frame counter this is duct tape now request animation frames REQUEST THEM YOU MUST.
Anyway this is immensely stupid but it made me giggle so I share.
I don't know why, but even though I have years of experience doing agile both in school and at work, I seem to have a hard time adjusting to the agile work method because I always seem to want to do waterfall.
I don't like the stress of having to rush out a product, nor do I like working on an unknown piece of software (framework/library) without knowing it fully; it just itches me and I get obsessive.
I don't like creating just a piece of functionality and rush it out the door, but I rather like doing it in an R&D type way where I get years to finish a product that I slowly work on, like a modern-age philosopher and scientist.
I know there are companies out there that have this approach, but sadly most of them are agile 'cause they all wanna be cool.. LoL
I'm an old mind in a modern world..2 -
Got a question on DBMS Normalization. I tried searching but couldn't clear my doubt. So I have a set of functional dependencies for relation R(C, D, E, F, P, R, S) :
F->D
D->F
E->C
P->RC
E->F
S->EFD
PR->EF
So I have to convert this to 3NF. My doubt is that when finding 2NF do we find all the non-prime attributes that are dependent on a particular partial key i.e. do we take it's closure and create new relations for each partial dependency? If we do that then there are overlapping attributes in the resultant relations in this case I found the relations in 2NF as :
R1(P, S)
R2(P, R, C, E, F)
R3(S, E, F, D, C)
But when I just used the FDs as they are given (no closure) I found :
R1(P, S)
R2(P, R, C)
R3(S, E, F, D)
Which one is correct, please help.3 -
As theKarlisK and Root stated "When it works it works beautifully, when it doesn't a bit of Google-fu finds a fix".
some issues I found in this journey:
- stuttering in some games, even using custom proton build(halo mcc)
- some titles are hard to even start(my RE7 D:)
- bluetooth with my dongle isn't good, takes to long to connect my xbox s controller, sometimes with doesn't even work at all. had to do a workaround in the first place to pair (but this is a problem with ubuntu, not linux gaming but had to mention it)
- games outside the proton ecosystem can be a pain in the ass to get working. LoL on lutris crashes 3 times at startup, don't wanna even try to install overwatch on lutris
- rbg software can be "hard" to find or the alternative is not that good. (got an alternative for mystic light but is just command line. did not found a logitech keyboard software :/, hadn't search hard enough )
pros:
- being able to game on linux is like a dream come true
- most of my steam games runs out of the box
- is linux
- is linux
but the issues are starting to bother me...2 -
We create home automation S/W and have it installed in the workplace.
For some reason the lights in the Help Desk/Testing department didn't turn on this morning. At the time our lead engineer was there too.
Rather then try sort it out themselves, they called R&D and got us to check the issue out. Turns out the lighting had been tripped over the weekend when the maintenance department was doing some work.
As we were investigating the issue they were just talking about their weekend so could of easily investigated it themselves! -
Who has the final say or is in charge hierarchically in your company, product ppl/head/department or the cto/vp r&d?
Pls mention company size small/medium/large
Just want to know what's more accepted in the industry.
To clearify, for example, do most projects ideas get created by the managment and brought to RnD director who then assigns the product team to create the full specifications.
Or, is the idea first reaches product departmnet and then RnD department just gets the specifications and starts work.3 -
HOW FUNDS RECLAIMER COMPANY HELP ME RECOVER OVER $94,600 I LOST IN TRADING FOREX
My old age father had an unimaginable loss one night when he was scammed out of 5 BTC by a fraudulent cryptocurrency investment platform. It all began when he met the broker on TikTok, who claimed to represent a reputable trading firm and promised significant returns. The opportunity seemed too good to pass up, and at first, everything appeared legitimate; the platform was professional, and the broker convincing. Excited by the prospect of profit, he decided to invest. However, once the funds were deposited, things quickly took a dark turn. The broker stopped responding to his messages, and he found himself unable to access the platform. It became clear that he had fallen victim to a sophisticated scam. The financial blow was devastating, but the emotional toll was even worse. My father, once confident and optimistic, became deeply distressed. The shock of betrayal, coupled with the enormity of the loss, left him struggling with suicidal thoughts. It was a terrifying and heart-wrenching time, and I didn’t know where to turn for help. Amid this turmoil, an old family friend reached out. This person, who had worked with my father in the past, recommended a recovery service called FUNDS RECLAIMER COMPANY, which I had initially discovered through Reddit. Initially, we were skeptical given our recent experience with fraud, but we were desperate for a solution. Reluctantly, we decided to give them a try. FUNDS RECLAIMER COMPANY offered us a glimmer of hope. Their team was not only professional and efficient but also incredibly compassionate. They took the time to understand the emotional toll the situation had taken on my father and crafted a clear plan of action to recover the lost funds. Throughout the process, they kept us informed, providing regular updates and answering all our questions with patience and empathy. Hey everyone, I want to showcase today a master class in divisiveness.
The topic, the white house has just reacted to the "Elon is not elected" allegations. Explaining in a "civics lesson," that only the president is elected, the rest of his staff appointed. A good point, on the surface.
But also, a master class of divisiveness. From both sides.
May I introduce our characters: We have Smart Left (SL), Dumb Left (DL), Smart Right (SR), and Dumb Right (DR).
And me, Tray, your omniscient (read, unreliable) narrator.
Scene 1, act 1 - The left side:
SL enters stage, below him a crowd of DL.
SL: "Elon is not elected!"
Tray: "SL was not malicious, he did mean it. He knew how government works. It is but an ironic jab, pointing out his believe Elon having more influence over Trump than vice versa. Looking down at the DLs, they did not understand it."
DLs take up the chant: "Elon is not elected."
Act 1 Scene 2 - The right side.
DRs irritated about the accusation.
SR: "It is called an appointment."
Tray: "SR is aware what SL meant, however an explanation is warranted for DL. Yet, is it already misleading not to point out that SL knew? The original accusation remained unanswered. That doesn't mean it is correct, nor incorrect. It only means that it is most advantageous to not draw attention to it."
DRs chant: "Lefties need civic lesson."
Act 1 Scene 3 - The left side.
DLs: Outraged about being lectured at.
SL: "Of course we know about appointments, that is just a straw man attack."
Tray. "SL is aware that many of their own do need a civics lesson."
DLs chant: "Straw man Trump, straw man Trump."
Act 1 Scene 4 - The right side:
SR: "The accusation of straw manning is insulting. They make claims and do not stand to them."
Tray: "Also here a malicious act. They could explain their original target audience. But they do not want to give an inch, not admitting a point the other side made.
DRs chant: "Straw manning left. Straw manning left."
And that's the drama in 4 scenes. We are at scene 2 right now. But that's just a single act. The original accusation was not debated. Neither by L nor by R. The accusation was always dominated by the chants of those who carry the the prefix "D" in the name. "S" doesn't speak to "S." "S" only speaks to "D." Has to be, they have to react to the loudest.
It is in the nature of democracy. If all of our voices are worth the same, then bigger clusters of voices are more important. We should not assume that truthfulness and scientific rigor will prevail. After all, in human's evolutionary history, science and engineering was hampered by people and only developed to this degree because the environment positively selected for it. After all, being correct is a survival advantage. Democracy does not select for being correct, but for creating the biggest unity.8 -
As a passionate member of the cryptocurrency community, I was both excited and anxious about the potential acquisition, but little did I know that I was about to be targeted by a skilled con artist. When I came across an auction for what was claimed to be "the last known Satoshi wallet" for an astonishing 10,000 BTC, my curiosity got the better of me. The prospect of owning such a significant piece of cryptocurrency history was thrilling, but it quickly turned into a nightmare. After expressing my interest, I soon realized that I was dealing with a hacker who had crafted an elaborate scheme to defraud unsuspecting buyers like myself. They understood the gravity of the situation and immediately sprang into action. FUNDS RETRIEVER ENGINEER devised an intricate sting operation to expose the hacker and recover the funds involved in the auction. This agent was equipped with a hidden wire concealed within a hardware wallet, allowing for discreet communication throughout the negotiation process. I was amazed at the level of detail and planning that went into the operation. I watched anxiously from the sidelines. While going through Quora, I stumbled upon numerous discussions about cloud mining and the lucrative opportunities it presents in the cryptocurrency realm. The prospect of earning money while introducing my friends to this exciting venture was simply irresistible. I successfully recruited ten friends, and together we invested a substantial amount, eager to witness our investments flourish. Initially, everything seemed promising, and we were filled with optimism about the profits that awaited us. However, our excitement quickly turned to alarm when we attempted to withdraw our earnings. To our shock, the site suddenly demanded "unlock fees" before we could access our funds. This was our first red flag, but we clung to the hope that it was merely a temporary obstacle. As we navigated the withdrawal process, the site became increasingly unresponsive, and our concerns escalated. After several frustrating attempts to reach customer support, it became painfully evident that we had fallen victim to a scam. The site vanished, taking with it our hard-earned 35,000 USDT. SUPPORT GROUP FOR CYPTO FRAUD VICTIMS - FUNDS RETRIEVER ENGINEER
As a military woman, I’ve been trained to stay alert and think tactically, but nothing prepared me for the emotional and financial ambush I experienced online. It started innocently enough. While stationed overseas, I connected with someone on social media who claimed to be a successful crypto trader. He was charismatic, well-spoken, and incredibly supportive. Over the course of several months, he built my trust. He didn’t rush anything. We talked almost every day about life, service, family, and eventually, finances. He made me feel seen and understood, and I truly began to believe there could be a future with him. He slowly introduced me to his world of crypto investing. At first, I was skeptical. But he showed me a platform where he said he made consistent profits, even offering to help me get started. I watched my investment appear to grow rapidly on the site. It looked real. It felt real. Encouraged by what I saw and the bond I thought we had, I invested more and more until I’d put in a total of $250,000. It was everything I had saved. Then one day, he vanished. No calls. No messages. The platform stopped working. My heart sank. I knew I’d been scammed. I felt betrayed, embarrassed, and helpless. I might be tough in uniform, but behind the screen, I was just a woman who’d been deceived. That’s when I found FUNDS RETRIEVER ENGINEER. From the first call, they treated me with respect and urgency. Their team got to work immediately. They were able to trace the funds through 12 different crypto wallets, following a digital trail most would never find. Eventually, they tracked the money to a real exchange account, one that the scammer had linked to his identity. That mistake cost him.Thanks to FUNDS RETRIEVER ENGINEER expertise, $187,000 of my stolen funds were recovered before they could be laundered or hidden. They worked with international authorities and the exchange to freeze the assets in time. I’m still healing, but I’m no longer a silent victim. I’m speaking out because if it happened to me, a woman in the military, it could happen to anyone. Don’t stay silent. There’s help out there. FUNDS RETRIEVER ENGINEER gave me a second chance.
HIRE A HACKER FOR CRYPTO SCAM RECOVERY USE FUNDS RETRIEVER ENGINEER
I remember a tough time when my college friend, Sarah, went through something that really shook her. We met during our freshman year at the University of Arizona, both studying Engineering. Sarah quickly became one of my closest friends, and we bonded over our love for technology and problem-solving. Our late-night study sessions were full of deep conversations about circuits, coding, and everything in between. Over time, Sarah’s curiosity led her to explore a lot of different things—new hobbies, tech tools, and even investing. She was fascinated by the stock market and cryptocurrency, eager to learn more. Little did I know, this interest would soon put her in a difficult situation. A few months into our second year, Sarah received a message on X (formerly Twitter), which appeared to be from Elon Musk himself, offering a unique investment opportunity in an online trading platform. The message seemed legitimate, and Sarah was excited about the idea of making a smart investment. She invested $55,000, reassured by the person she was communicating with that everything was secure and that returns would come quickly. However, things took a sudden turn when Sarah tried to withdraw her money. Her account was frozen, and all communication from the supposed investment contact stopped. She was devastated, and that’s when I saw how much this had shaken her. I suggested we search for help online, and that’s when Sarah came across a company called FUNDS RETRIEVER ENGINEER. At first, she was hesitant, but we decided to give it a shot.The team at FUNDS RETRIEVER ENGINEER worked relentlessly to recover her lost funds, and within a few days, almost the entire $55,000 was returned. It was an enormous relief for Sarah, and I could see the trust slowly returning to her. Through this ordeal, she learned an important lesson about the importance of caution online, and I was just as relieved to see her regain her confidence. Despite the tough experience, it brought us even closer as friends. It reminded us both how crucial it is to stay vigilant and informed in today’s digital world.
However, everything changed one fateful day during a particularly intense deployment. While treating a patient amid an attack, my phone slipped from my hands and crashed to the ground. In the chaos of the moment, I realized with a sinking feeling that I hadn’t backed up my cryptocurrency wallet recovery phrase. I had always thought I had plenty of time to do so later, but that day proved otherwise. My dreams of financial security and stability were vanishing right before my eyes. The betrayal I felt was profound. It was as if I had not only failed myself but also my family, who relied on me to provide for them. Each day in the ICU reminded me of my commitment to healing, and now I was left feeling helpless in the face of adversity. CRYPTOCURRENCY RECOVERY FIRM FOR HIRE - FUNDS RETRIEVER ENGINEER
On Mother’s Day, I became a victim of a sophisticated cryptocurrency trading scam that initially promised HUGE returns but ultimately left me unable to access my funds. The ordeal began when an admin from a Telegram group, boasting 800 members, reached out to me. The group was filled with discussions about cryptocurrency trading strategies and success stories of members profiting from signals provided by the group's leaders. Captivated by their claims of high returns and the group's apparent transparency, I decided to join. The scammers presented a 30-day investment cycle, assuring me that I could withdraw my initial investment along with any profits at the end of the period. Trusting their assurances, I deposited $58,000 in USDT to their Bitcoin address. Everything seemed to be going well, and my account balance quickly soared to $800,000. However, things took a drastic turn when I attempted to withdraw my profits. I was informed that I couldn’t access my funds until I paid a supposed “tax” on my earnings. This tax requirement had never been mentioned during my initial investment discussions. When I pressed for clarification, I received vague responses and delays, making it clear that the scammers were stalling, hoping to extract more money from me. Despite my persistent efforts to reach out to them, the group disappeared, leaving me with no means of contact. It became painfully obvious that I had been scammed. Feeling lost and desperate, I began searching for ways to recover my lost funds. After extensive research, I came across FUNDS RETRIEVER ENGINEER, a service dedicated to helping victims of online scams. Their team was not only knowledgeable but also compassionate, guiding me through the recovery process step by step. I gathered the necessary documentation and details about my case. They worked tirelessly to trace my funds and liaised with financial institutions on my behalf. To my immense relief, they successfully helped me recover a significant portion of my funds. This taught me a crucial lesson about the importance of conducting thorough research regarding investment opportunities. I learned to be skeptical of promises that seemed too good to be true and to verify the legitimacy of any platform before investing. Thanks toFUNDS RETRIEVER ENGINEER, I was able to regain my financial stability and approach future investments with newfound caution. I now advocate for others to be informed, sharing my story to help prevent others from falling victim to similar scams.
I was once devastated by the terrible results of a cryptocurrency fraud, which left me feeling hopeless. I know from my experience that it is a real nightmare. An online investing platform basically held my Bitcoin deposit, which was a sizable figure, hostage. I had expected large returns, but I had not realized the painful experience that was about to occur. My initial excitement eventually turned to agony when I discovered that the platform I had trusted was nothing more than a cunning scam designed to trick gullible people who were enthusiastic about the cryptocurrency market, leaving us feeling exposed, duped, and difficult to trust in the future. When I started a money recovery quest, I came across RECOVERY NERD, a group of professionals with a focus on asset recovery that are committed to helping victims locate and retrieve their stolen money. Since I had previously read that bitcoin transactions are irretrievable and untraceable, the procedure of getting my lost Bitcoin back sounded overwhelming. But RECOVERY NERD has shown that this idea is false. I was thrilled to hear that my lost Bitcoin had been successfully recovered, despite the fact that the recovery process was complex. To anyone who could be in a similar terrible circumstance, I implore you to keep hope alive and look up RECOVERY NERD on Google. For helpful crypto recovery counsel, I suggest getting in touch with R E C O V E R Y N E R D (@) M A I L (.) C O M.7
According to Persistence Market Research the global Preclinical Contract Research Organization (CRO) Market is witnessing substantial growth, driven by increasing research and development activities in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. As of 2025, the market is valued at US$ 5,722.7 million, and is projected to reach US$ 10,528.7 million by 2032, growing at a CAGR of 9.1%. This surge is attributed to the expanding demand for outsourcing preclinical services, driven by rising costs and complexity in drug discovery.
The toxicology testing segment is expected to lead the market, growing at a CAGR of 10% during the forecast period. This dominance is largely due to the increasing regulatory scrutiny, the essential role of toxicology in Investigational New Drug (IND)-enabling studies, and the rise in outsourcing noncore studies by pharmaceutical companies.
Geographically, North America holds the largest share of the preclinical CRO market. The U.S., in particular, is driving growth with robust biopharmaceutical activity, high R&D investments, and a well-established regulatory framework. Furthermore, the presence of leading CRO players and advanced infrastructure in the region supports market expansion. However, the Asia Pacific region is anticipated to grow at the fastest pace, bolstered by lower operational costs, skilled labor, and supportive government initiatives in countries like India, China, and Singapore.2 -
