I went to Paris for my first interview (that was 1989) for a job of Unix kernel developer. All dressed up. I step out of the elevator and see a young punk with scruffy hair and different colour shoes. I reckon he must be the pizza delivery guy. I ask him "dude, can you please point me to the CEO's office for interview". He said "sure, follow me man, I'll show you". We arrive at a desk, he sat down in the big chair and looks at me with a big smile and says "Ok dude, here we are. I am the CEO. Now let's see how good you are!"
I got the job. And 26 years latet, last week, amazing coincidence: I met him again at a trade show in Paris ... with the same coloured shoes. How cool is that!!!

A group of programmers and marketers were traveling to a trade show on a train. Each of the marketers had bought a ticket, but the programmers had only bought one ticket for the lot of them.
One of the programmers was keeping a lookout, and when the conductor neared their car he called out "The conductor's coming!" and all of the programmers piled into the train's lavatory and closed the door. The conductor took the tickets of all of the marketers, and then knocked on the lavatory door and called "Ticket please." The programmers slid their ticket under the door, and the conductor took it and left.
The programmers were laughing at the marketers for the rest of the trip, and the marketers felt like idiots.
On the way back, the marketers decided they would use the same trick and only bought one ticket for them. But this time, the programmers didn't buy a single ticket! Again, one of the programmers kept a lookout for the conductor. When he called "Conductor coming!" all of the programmers piled into one lavatory, and all of the marketers shut themselves into another lavatory.
One programmer came back out of his lavatory, knocked on the other door, and said "Ticket please!"6 -
So there it fucking goes.
Hi. I'm WillibertXXIV.
I'm not a programmer by trade; I have a more than fulltime job as a cook. As for the last year, I spent pretty much all my free time, overlapping my sleep time, to learn how to code.
All that so I can create a game that I started working on the same day I started my learning process. So far it's shit and it's going to stay that way for a long time. Only I can say this. It's my baby. It's fucking ugly and shit but it's mine.
Yesterday I broke it. I broke my baby. I don't know how it fucking happe. When I went to sleep I had a steady 175fps, nice realtime lightning and player / enemy that flowed like running water. I worked really hard to make that happened. Profiling, writing better code, profiling, etc. It's still not good, it's less shit.
I woke up, beautiful day. Not too warm, not too cold, that sweet spot right in the middle. Girlfriend already made the coffee. Perfect. Woke up, sat down to start my morning time work before going to my realjob and
BAM
Everything is shit, 20fps max. That one thing, gfx.waitforpresent, showing up in the profiler eating everything as the game run. Movements are now of stroboscopic nature. Light is still ok but what good does it do now fucking piece of shit. I'm not qualified enough for this shit.
Fuck,
Fuck this,
Fuck this shit,
Fuck this shit i'm out of here.26 -
No matter how much we complain about our programming language, our bosses, our co-workers, our teams, or anything else....
We'll never trade our Profession (coding) for any other job in the World.
That's How We Roll.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯3 -
Sooooo me and the lead dev got placed in the wrong job classification at work.
Without sounding too mean, we are placed under the same descriptor and pay scale reserved for secretaries, janitors and the people that do maintenance at work(we work for a college as developers) whilst our cowormer who manages the cms got the correct classification.
The manager went apeshit because the guidelines state that:
Making software products
Administration of dbs
Server maintenance and troubleshooting
Security (network)
And a lot of shit is covered on the exemption list and it is things that we do by a wide fucking margin. The classification would technically prohibit us from developing software and the whole it dptmnt went apeshit over it since he(lead developer) refuses (rightfully so) to touch anything and do basically nothing other than generate reports.
Its a fun situation. While we both got a substantial raise in salary(go figure) we also got demoted at the same time.
There is a department in IT which deals with the databases for other major applications, their title is "programmers" yet for some reason me and the lead end up writing all the sql code that they ever need. They make waaaaay more money than me and the lead do, even in the correct classification.
Resolution: manager is working with the head of the department to correct this blasphemy WHILE asking for a higher pay than even the "programmers"
I love this woman. She has balls man. When the president of the school paraded around the office asking for an update on a high priority app she said that I am being gracious enough to work on it even though i am not supposed to. The fucking prick asked if i could speed it up to where she said that most of my work I do it on my off time, which by law is now something that I cannot do for the school and that she does not expect any of her devs to do jack shit unless shit gets fixed quick. With the correct pay.
Naturally, the president did not like such predicament and thus urged the HR department(which is globally hated now since they fucked up everyone's classification) to fix it.
Dunno if I will get above the pay that she requested. But seeing that royal ammount of LADY BALLS really means something to me. Which is why i would not trade that woman for a job at any of my dream workplaces.
Meanwhile, the level of stress placed my 12 years of service diabetic lead dev at the hospital. Fuck the hr department for real, fuck the vps of the school that fucked this up royally and fuck people in this city in general. I really care for my team, and the lead dev is one of my best friends and a good developer, this shit will not fucking go unnoticed and the HR department is now in low priority level for the software that we build for them
Still. I am amazed to have a manager that actually looks out for us instead of putting a nice face for the pricks that screwed us over.
I have been working since I was 16, went through the Army, am 27 now and it is the first time that I have seen such manager.
She can't read this, but she knows how much I appreciate her.3 -
I worked on a company with an open floor plan where you would get a desk assigned depending on the type of project you worked on. All the desks were modular an you would get a desk with a cube with a set of drawers, or with a locker-like cube with a single space and door. When this guy started, he was assigned a drawer set. Around the third day he went around the office asking anyone with a locker to trade cubes. He finally got one. He filled it up with liquor bottles, cans of juice and several types of glasses. He would prepare himself cocktails during the work day. Once he was enjoying a Coca-Cola and whisky mix when the HR boss came around to ask what he was up. He offered the guy a drink.4

I JUST FINISHED MY FIRST NEURAL NETWORK!!!
But first of all, as I know you guys, it's spaghetti code and even I as a newb see places where I used too few-dimensional array or passed useless parameters or simply wrote too many redundant lines of code. I know it. I will make it MUCH better next time. Period.
But OMFG this made me scream from happiness today!! Just these few seemingly random numbers... I'm really done.. That's why I jumped into coding year or two ago..
And for some background, I didn't study any IT school, I'm just highschooler (general grammar school) who traded gaming for learning. Also my maths teacher teached NNs on university and is very keen to teach me, so that's that.
Now I wanna make the best out of it and I'm looking forward to write some well documented and flexible library, parallelized and everything (I'm gonna learn a lot in the process of doing this) better then FANN.
Maybe I'm gonna fail(99% probability but hey, I'm programmer beginner, I still think I can code everything I want). But if there is just one moment like when I saw this screen today, I'mma trade my life for it.
Sorry for taking your time guys, I was just genuinely stunned... A lot

Implemented a feature without the hardware to run it on.
Hardware arrives on the last day before it has to be prepared for a trade show.
Feature works on first try.
I have never been so suspicions.4 -
UPDATE: devRant Trans-Oceanic Journey Community Project
It was a mere 12 days ago that I asked the question; 'Could devRanters, as a community, build a 21st Century Technology-Laden ‘devRant devie-Stressball-in-a-Bottle’ and send it on a journey across the Atlantic ocean?
I am thrilled to report that devRanters enthusiastically accepted this difficult challenge. A core team quickly formed and a tremendous amount of research and progress has been made in a short period of time. I want to give you a high level-flavor of what we are doing. Please keep in mind we still need your help. We welcome all develops to take part in this journey.
I want to give appreciation to the devRant Founders @dfox and @trogus. Without your support and sponsorship this project would not have been possible. devRant brought us together and it a reality. Devie journeying across the Ocean the Columbus sailed will stir the imagination of children and adults worldwide when we launch on May 1, 2017.
Some of the research and action items in progress:
- Slack and trello environments were created to capture research and foster discussion.
- A Stony Brook University Oceanography Professor suggested the Gulf Stream would be a good pathway across the ocean. We researched it very and agree. The Gulf Stream has been a trans-Atlantic conduit for hundreds of years. We are deciding whether to launch from Cape Hatteras, NC or the Virginia coast. Both have easy access to the rapid currents in the Gulf Stream.
- We are researching every detail of the Gulf Stream to make the journey easier and faster for devie. We have maps and a team member gathered valuable ideas reading a thorough book – ‘The Gulf Stream’.
- We decided on using a highly resilient plastic rather than glass for the bottle material. Plastic is much lighter, faster and glass breaks down more easily. The lightweight enclosure will allow us to take full advantage of waves and ample trade winds. We are still discussing the final design as we want to minimize friction and mimic the non-locomotion fish that migrate thousands of miles riding the Gulf Stream.
-The enclosure might be 3D printed unless we can locate a commercial solution. We have 3D specs and are speaking with some experts. There are advantages and dis-advantages to each solution.
- We will be using Iridiums' RockBLOCK two-way satellite technology to bounce lat-long coordinate pings off their 36 low-orbit satellites. The data will be analyzed by our devRant devie analysis software. IOS and Android public apps being built by the team will display devie's location throughout the journey in.
- Arduino will be used as the brains
- Multiple sensors including temperature and depth are being considered
-A project plan will be published to the team Friday 12/9. Sorry I am a few days late but adding some new ideas.
There are still a lot of challenges we must overcome and we will.
That’s all for now. I will send updates and all ideas / comments are valued.

Focus on algorithms first and syntax last. Solve problems, then code.
If it uses power, has an I/O interface, and stores code, you can do stuff.
Dont get caught up in the little shit like specific code formatting and who's right or wrong between tabs or spaces. (It should be TABS anyway.)
Don't take shit from anyone.
Be confident not cocky.
Learn GIT as much as you can.
Don't burn out.
Get up and stretch.
Don't argue with your Operating Systems professor about why you shouldn't have to learn Linux.
Don't fall into the "I want to be a game developer" trap. Make your own games on your own time. You won't learn shit at school about it.
9/10 of the real world workforce is who you know, so don't be a dick. Those people might be the difference between Ramen noodles and steak dinner for you.
Charge market competitive rates and set an hourly rate that defines the clientele you deal with.
Don't ever, EVER, do trade or spec work. Free work don't pay the bills. Always start the clock when you're not sleeping, eating, or shitting. If you're emailing, calling, texting, or otherwise interacting with or on behalf of a client, bill them. Don't be a bitch when they decide they don't want to pay you. Get yours. Watch "Fuck You. Pay Me." at least once a month on YouTube.9 -
So I just found this app, called LifeRPG. It lets you play your life as a game, compleating quests for exp and "gems"(which you can then trade for custom rewards.. I'm thinking.. Ice cream~ <3) I think this will help keep me motivated more to do actual things in my life. Maybe.. We'll have to see. I already set up a bunch of daily missions, and continous missions.

Did you read about the new Digital Services Act and Digital Markets Act laws of the European Union, that will go in effect in 2022? Pretty neat stuff, more transparency, user rights and a tool against internet monopolies.
"Very big online plattforms" must submit reports on freedom of speech, abuse of human rights, manipulation of public opinion.
EU assigned scientists will gain access to trade secrets like google search or Amazon recommendation algorithm to analyze potential threats.
The EU can fine serial offenders 10 % of their yearly income. And break up companies that stiffle competition.
Internet companies like Facebook will not be permitted to share user data between their products like Instagram and WhatsApp.
There will be a unified ruleset on online advertisement. Each add must have the option to find out why this add is shown to the user.
Unlike the GDRP data protection rule the two acts will be valid at the Union level. So that there won't be any exceptions from single member states.
Let's hope this leads to a better Internet and not things like cookie pop ups 😄

When you start a job and they tell you to put your nice laptop away, because you'll have to work on a company provided laptop running Windows 7 in a constricted environment on a project using Svn. And to top it off they tell you to trade in your IntelliJ for NetBeans.
Did I just travel back in time?13 -
Am I being completely ignorant? I like to think of programming like construction (worked for 9 years in that industry) when I learn a new language I approach it the same way as using a new tool. I don't feel like I'm learning a new "trade", just a new way to do the same things i already know how to do using a different method. I feel like a lot of programmers have trouble picking up new languages/frameworks because the THINK it is completely new...where as learn a new TRADE (devops, database arch, design etc) is something completely new/different6
-
Never heard of a so terribly designed online game.
For starters: the client-server model is process everything on the client, then save it on the server, and due to the nature of the site design, simply changing a tag will give you another of money.
The PayPal processing system doesn't read any headers or anything of that sort. So if you cancel your payment, this game thinks you've paid anyways.
Also, the trading system is based off of what buttons you can see so if you can see the cancel button it must be yours. So if you copy the cancel button to someones trade offering (FYI this is all done locally), and you click it you have gotten said item(s).
It gets worse, but I don't remember much more than that. The one thing they actually do is make session IDs expire.12 -

Inspired by the comment I posted on another rant.
My uni decided to be one of those progressive tech schools that start people with Python. Mind you, I had prepared myself with studying as much as I could with math and programming by automating things and similar stuff in our computer when I was at my previous job, so I had a better idea as to what i could expect.
Introduction to computer science and programming with Python or some shit like that was the name of the class, and the instructor was a fat short ugly woman with a horrible attitude AND a phd in math, not comp sci and barely any industrial knowledge of the field.
She gave us the "a lot of you will fail" speech, which to me is code for "I suck and have no clue what I am doing"
One assignment involved, as per the requirements the use of switch cases. Now, unless someo knew came about, Python does not have swio cases. Me and a couple of less newbie like students tried to point out that switch cases were non existent and that her switch case example was in Javascript, not python, curly braces and everything. She told us to make it work.
We thought that she meant using a function with a dictionary and we pass the key and shit, a simple way of emulating the switch case.
NOPE she took points and insisted that she meant the example. We continuously pointed out that her example was in JS and that at the time Python did not have switch cases. The nasty woman laughed out and said that she didn't expect anyone to finish the assignment with full points.
Out of 100 points everyone got a 70. No problem. Wrote a detailed letter to the dean. Dean replied and talked to her (copied her in the email because fuck you bitch) and my grade was pulled up to full mark.
Every other class I had with her she did not question me. Which was only another class on some other shit I can't remember.
Teachers are what make or break a degree program. What make or break the experience, going to college is putting too much faith on people. If you ask me, trade certification, rigorous training is the future of computer science, or any field really. Rather than spending 4+ years studying a whoooole lotta shit for someone to focus on one field and never leave it.16 -
So me and a coworker have gotten into a prank war. He went with several of my other coworkers to a trade show in Las Vegas this week, leaving me ample time to leave him a surprise...
He hates Frozen. Fucking hates it, seriously. Guess whose office just got decorated with 36 Frozen wall decals?
Can't wait to see his reaction on Monday!

First, they came for those who Open Source'd code.
And I did not speak out, because my code could never be used by anyone out of the company, anyway.
Then, they came for the Trade Unionists.
And I did not speak out, because I was not in a union.
Then, they came for those who worked from home.
And I did not speak out, because I was granted an exception.
Then, they came for Scrum Masters and other Agile practitioners.
And I did not speak out, because fuck those spreadsheet jockeys productivity thespians.
Then, they came for in-house Data Analysts and Data Engineers.
And there was no one left to speak out for us.
Yeah, folks. The day finally came. I'm officially updating my LinkedIn and putting a ridiculous sash under my picture, "open to work". The Layoffs came for me, too.6 -
My tablet is lying on a table 2m away from me and I have to install a new app.. but I don't want to get out of my couch ffs! And I haven't configured dropbear in it yet, and neither do I have adb over TCP/IP. Well fuck it then. My desktop with BlueStacks.. hah, it's running fucking WanBLowS. No remote access there. Too much to ask of that certified pile of crap.
But the point is.. moar remotes, moar better 😋 anything to not have to stand up, taught by my ability to log into a server in Italy from the comfort of my couch. SSH and the sysadmin trade sure is nothing short of amazing ♥️5 -
The next motherfucking asshole, that says there is a shortage of trained IT personnel in Germany, will get their eyeballs ripped out and squished back into their mouth.
I've got my trade degree in mid August. since then I've been without a job. The first 2 months where, bevause my former employer took ages to create my work-certificate (document that shows that you actually worked there and what you did).
Since then, I applied to a multitude of companies and got denied for various reasons. My favorite was "seems unmotivated".
The number of open IT positions is directly correlated to the collective assholelishness and entitlement of HR/management.24 -

Whenever I feel like I’m not good enough at my trade, I come here to read a few rants. While I am a failure, it’s so nice to know there are even more disappointing devs around.9 -
There is this group called LUKI e. V. that advertises using linux at church instead of windows. First of all, I think it is a horrible idea because the people working at the church, based on my personal experience, can barely operate windows. Windows is just the better and easier to use option for people who don't know much about computers.
Also, and this is where it gets hilarious, their main argument for switching to linux is that it is a "fair" software (as in fair trade). How? I don't think Microsoft devs are underpaid child slaves. And even if so, how would you change that with a software alternative that doesn't cost anything?

Voting feels like shit.
Seriously. Why? Because I have to vote for parties and representatives that might have one interest in common with me but go against my points of view almost all of the time. "We'll introduce a freedom of information act and legalize weed for better drug policy and youth protection!" -- WOW Great I'll vote for yo .. " ...and we'll also come to your home kill your dog, rape your family and shit in your back yard." -- oh f*** WHY? why do I have to live in a system were I am constantly forced to trade shit for even worse shit? Why can't I vote for policies or at least some kind of 'single' - issue representative?
I know that solving this problem is not easy and I do not claim to have the magical solution. "Not voting is even worse" sure but I am getting so fucking tired of it. It doesn't feel like progression and it sure as hell does not feel like it matters because in the end of the day you are just voting for the party that's at least going to use lube when raping you. I hate these ad hominem politics where we don't discuss the ideas but the people who represent them. I honestly don't give a fuck about who you are, if you're gay, married, or are left-wing, right-wing, conservative or liberal, in the end its about finding a good solution for everyone and not about the people implementing it. I don't care about politicians private lifes or worldviews (in terms of ideals, morals, religion etc.) , I care about finding the solutions to problems and having a wide array of opinions in order to discuss ideas and to find a valid and good way to go forward. "you can't agree with that person at all, because he's evil", yeah you know what? I don't care. It's about the ideas, arguments, discussions and solutions, not about the people who discuss them.
"I made a discovery today. I found a computer. Wait a second, this is cool. It does what I want it to. If it makes a mistake, it's because I
screwed it up. Not because it doesn't like me...
Or feels threatened by me...
Or thinks I'm a smart ass...
Or doesn't like teaching and shouldn't be here...
Damn kid. All he does is play games. They're all alike."33 -
Hey guys.
Arduino + Bluetooth + L293D + car Chacis and 4 DC motors.
Finaly finished my second bot/Drone.
Actually finished it yesterday but had lots of problems with hardware bugs (learned so fucking much in a day).
Tought I fucked two unos with bad soldering... No they are fine, just won't turn on in the circuit that was already working (was fine running the code).
Redone everything from scratch with a arduino uno, it's perfect now.
Funniest part is how I got my hands on a 50€ car kit for almost free... So some Chinese store sended this kit instead of some cheap stuff. Saved another arduino with the chip rack (that one that you can trade the atmega chip), I'll save it to program single chips. Plus a h bridge and lot lot more cool stuff.
Used only the Chacis.
Next: esp8266 and camera... And maby a gun? Would be cool

Motherfucking YES!!!
I passed my final exam for my trade degree. Now I'm officially qualified as an IT-Administrator.4 -
I got a kindle paper as a hand me down gift. And I feel I'm reading so much more than before, now!
I'm starting a new small novel
A Wrinkle in Time, I'll be reading alongside my girlfriend.
I'm 52% done with a book called
Python Tricks: The Book
Literally coolest book I've touched. Contains a bunch of different tidbits about the language, granted most of them confirmed my understanding, but it's still neat to read and learn about them in a more rigorous setting.
I'm 13% done with another book called
How to Day Trade for a Living
I'm heading for the crypto currency exchange, but with a catch,
I'm reading another book called
Genetic Algorithms with Python
You can probably already guess where I'm heading.
I feel armed with more knowledge and I feel like this is a really great way to start the New Year off.7 -
A big shout out to all the polyglot developers out there who understand that languages and frameworks are just tools with trade offs.
May we always evaluate thoroughly and choose the best tool for the job at hand.
Cheers 🍻
Bonus Round:
What tools are you currently wielding while reading this rant?6 -
I can't code
So 3 things i hate because i can't code. #selfrant
1. My father was a programmer in the 80-90ties. So he forced me at 11 years old to do a stupid "Java for Kids" book. You had to write sooooo much verbose code just that a stupid grey button would appear that looked ugly. I really really hated it.
2. Now I'm a graphic designer by trade. The first time I came in contact with something useful code related was in 2011. https://processing.org the generative design framework. It looked glorious! But it was in Java! I hated it.
3. I hate that i can't code because I'm dependend on you guys to get my design to become alive. Thanks to 3 years on devRant, the days arguing with a lazy dev that something can't be done is thankfully gone.6 -
Today was a manic-depressive kind of day. Spent the morning helping some developers with getting their code to run a stored procedure to drop old partitions, but it wasn't working on their end. It was a fairly simple proc. But working with partitions is a little like working with an array. I figured out that they were passing the wrong timestamp, and needed to add +1 to delete the right partition. Got that sorted out, and things were good. Lunch time.
After lunch I did some busy work, and then the PO comes up at about 2PM and says he's assigned some requests to me. The first was just attaching some scripts. Easy. The second, the user wants a couple of schemas exported ... at 6PM. I've been in the office since 6:45AM.
While I'm setting up some commands to run for the data export, a BA walks up and asks if I'm filling in for another DBA who is out for a few weeks. Yep. There's a change request that hasn't been assigned, and he normally does the work. I ask when it's due. Well, the pre-implementation was supposed to be done in the morning, but it wasn't, and we're in the implementation window ... half way through. I bring up the change task, and look at. Create new schema and users. That's all it says. The BA laughs. I tell I need more to go on. 10 minutes later he sends an email with the information. There's only two hours left in the window, and I can only use half of it, because the production guys have to their stuff, and we're in their window. Now I'm irritated, because I'm new to Oracle, and it's an unforgiving mistress. Fortunately, another DBA says he'll do it, so that we can get it done in time. But can't work it either, because Dev DBAs don't have access to QA, and the process required access for this task. Gets shelved until the access issue is resolved. It's now after 4:15PM. I'm going to in traffic with that 6PM deadline.
I manage to get home and to the computer by 5:45PM. Log in. Start VPN. Box pops on screen. Java needs to update. I chose skip update. Box pops up again. It won't let me log in until Java is current. Passed.
I finally get logged in, and it's 6:10PM. I'm late getting the job started. I pull up Putty and log into the first box, and paste my pre-prepared command in the command line and hit error. Command not found. I'm tired, so it's a moment to sink in. I don't have time for this.
I log into DBArtisan and pull up the first data base, use the wizard to set the job, and off it goes. Yay. Bring up the second database, and have enter the connect info. Host not found. Wut? Examine host name. Yep, it's correct. Try a different method. Host not found. Go back to Putty. Log in. Past string. Launch. Command not found. Now my brain is quitting on me. Why now? It's after 6:30PM. Fiddle with some settings, reset $Oracle home. Try again. Yay. It works. I'm done. It's after 7PM.
There is nothing like technology to snatch the euphoria of a success away from you. It's a love-hate thing, but I wouldn't trade it for anything else. I'm done. Good night.3 -
Worst thing you've seen another dev do? Here is another.
Early into our eCommerce venture, we experienced the normal growing pains.
Part of the learning process was realizing in web development, you should only access data resources on an as-needed basis.
One business object on it's creation would populate db lookups, initialize business rule engines (calling the db), etc.
Initially, this design was fine, no one noticed anything until business started to grow and started to cause problems in other systems (classic scaling problems)
VP wanted a review of the code and recommendations before throwing hardware at the problem (which they already started to do).
Over a month, I started making some aggressive changes by streamlining SQL, moving initialization, and refactoring like a mad man.
Over all page loads were not really affected, but the back-end resources were almost back to pre-eCommerce levels.
The main web developer at the time was not amused and fought my changes as much as she could.
Couple months later the CEO was speaking to everyone about his experience at a trade show when another CEO was complementing him on the changes to our web site.
The site was must faster, pages loaded without any glitches, checkout actually worked the first time, etc.
CEO wanted to thank everyone involved etc..and so on.
About a week later the VP handed out 'Thank You' certificates for the entire web team (only 4 at the time, I was on another team). I was noticeably excluded (not that I cared about a stupid piece of paper, but they also got a pizza lunch...I was much more pissed about that). My boss went to find out what was going on.
MyBoss: "Well, turned out 'Sally' did make all the web site performance improvements."
Me: "Where have you been the past 3 months? 'Sally' is the one who fought all my improvements. All my improvements are still in the production code."
MyBoss: "I'm just the messenger. What would you like me to do? I can buy you a pizza if you want. The team already reviewed the code and they are the ones who gave her the credit."
Me: "That's crap. My comments are all over that code base. I put my initials, date, what I did, why, and what was improved. I put the actual performance improvement numbers in the code!"
MyBoss: "Yea? Weird. That is what 'Tom' said why 'Sally' was put in for a promotion. For her due diligence for documenting the improvements."
Me:"What!? No. Look...lets look at the code"
Open up the file...there it was...*her* initials...the date, what changed, performance improvement numbers, etc.
WTF!
I opened version control and saw that she made one change, the day *after* the CEO thanked everyone and replaced my initials with hers.
She knew the other devs would only look at the current code to see who made the improvements (not bother to look at the code-differences)
MyBoss: "Wow...that's dirty. Best to move on and forget about it. Let them have their little party. Let us grown ups keeping doing the important things."8 -
Interviewing at companies that have exactly the same kind of problems/people/politics makes me sad and a little desperate.
Probably best to stick with the devil I know (for now). After all, why trade in crap for a turd: it's shit either way.3 -
!rant !notrant !confession_maybe? Bit of a read.
Last year, around September (around 8 months into my first job in the industry), I started loosing motivation to be a developer. By then I had consistently dropped out of 3 or 4 courses for my degree (no penalties as it was pretty much within the starting weeks of the each course). I was think that I do not want to do this. It got so bad that I was looking for other jobs and even trade apprenticeships (I am old-ish so chances of that are so bloody low).
I had my mind set. Including not wanting to finish the degree I had started, which only had 1 year as full time to complete.
My missus supported me in my decision making, but she insisted that I finish the degree as the years I spent on it would have been a waste if I don't. So I agreed, with the idea that I will do this part time when I find another job.
Fast forward to New Years and a very spontaneous decisions was made. I resigned from my dev job and we ended up moving away to another city, two weeks later. By this point on I was so certain that I did not want to be in the IT industry. I had not done any dev work (personal projects or learning new technology etc) outside of the job for months. It had been months since I've visited devrant (to be honest it was not even installed on my phone, mainly because I broke my phone and after having it replaced I had not reinstalled a large portion of the apps I used). I had sold my custom built pc thinking that we do not need two PC's (we kind of don't, she's fine with her laptop) which meant no more dev stuff as none of this stuff was set up on my missus pc. I was looking for all kinds of jobs outside of the IT industry, anything really.
But then something happened. And this is that something. I mean this, deverant. I was flicking through the apps list on google play store, and I saw devrant, and I choose to reinstall it. I began reading rants and comments and I am certain that this made me realise why I want to be a developer. Within about 2 weeks of redownloading deverant I was enrolled full time as a uni student fully motivated to earn my degree.
There are bits and pieces left out of the story. I don't regret leaving my first ever dev job and moving away, it does seem drastic but it changed me for the better I believe. I have the experience from that role and I new fresh start so to speak. I think my missus new this was just a phase, although it felt so certain about it.
I am more of a lurker than a ranter or a commenter on this social platform but I felt that I need to share this. Thanks for reading this. Not really sure what to tag this. Has anyone else experienced this before?5 -
I got moved to a new team. My old team was truly agile, and my manager was very "off hands" and actually let us work.
My new team is an older team that practices a bloated abomination called SAFe Agile, and the manager gets into all the details to the point of removing autonomy.
Shoot me please.
Paradise lost. -

I'm not a developer by trade, (it's related but not my job title).
Still I just got a promotion which comes with better benefits, paid vacation and 20% raise! Plus, a huge amount of recognition that I really did earn it. Apparently even though I didn't come in with enough experience, the research and practice I did in our downtime was enough for me to get the position. -
I'm not a programmer by trade, so the only language I know well is bash. But as sysadmins we do use bash often.
Looking at other sysadmins' scripts though, there are interesting things in it every so often. Like for example `touch file` which creates a file. I've seen some sysadmins just do this instead `> file`. Genius! Or perhaps a `cat file >> elsewhere`. You can do that with `< file >> elsewhere`. It's something that if I hadn't seen it elsewhere, I wouldn't have thought about. But yeah, it saves a program call and it works!9 -
For the last week or so I've been writing a userbot for Telegram. Completely from scratch, plus Telethon to not reinvent the wheel entirely. I'm coming from the codebase of an existing userbot.
That userbot is written by a good friend of mine, who makes 6 figures, and whom I respect greatly. However the code is a steaming pile of shit. Now that is not his fault, he largely inherited that code too, tried to fix it, failed, gave up.
I am reimplementing it entirely. I'm only looking at the modules, trying to understand them, and copying over the necessary bits and changing them where necessary. But I've come across some nasty shit.
Userbots often edit existing messages from real Telegram clients. They're kind of like a login to your account, but with a program rather than a regular client. You send a message from a real client, it sees it and does whatever it needs to, and edits your message to give you feedback. Which is great.
However, there's no need to do simple string edits by importing "re". So why do you? Because you're an idiot, that's why. The old bot is based on Paperplane, which in turn is based on Telethon. Why do I see function calls to Telethon in some places and Paperplane in others? Because you're an idiot, that's why. Why does the dig module fail to even give correct answers? Because you know nothing about the DNS, that's why. And you didn't learn about RRs before implementing it.
And don't you tell me that this code is shit, and this bot is slow only when I run it on a fucking Pentium. I run this shit on an i7 and CPU isn't even the issue - memory, disk and such are. If you had any clue whatsoever about efficiency, you would've known because it's blatantly obvious. There's a reason why my machines rarely go past 5% CPU utilization. It's the fastest component in the entire fucking system.
When users come and say.. hmm this application of yours, it consumes a lot of memory. It takes a long time to do X and Y and I don't quite understand why, it seems illogical. Then maybe you should go look at your code, like you would look at yourself in the mirror. And then you fucking go fix it so that I don't have to. You're an engineer just like I am. And I am not even a dev proper - I'm a sysadmin by trade. Why should I have to fix your shit for you?1 -
Suck my hairy asshole, devs who disable paste for web forms. Or more likely, management softs who read in a trade magazine that paste is bad.1

It is said that the number of programmers doubles every five years with fresh CS, CE, and EE grads. Assuming that's true, then at any one time over half the developer community are novices in the early stages of their career.
My entire life's been spent in software and I've been in it now for about 15 years and I've seen a lot of people make alot of things and I've seen a lot of people fail at alot of things. My observation is that the doers are the major thinkers, the people that really create the things that change this industry are both the thinker doer in one person. It's very easy to take credit for the thinking the doing is more concrete. It's very easy for somebody say "oh, I thought of this three years ago" but usually when you dig a little deeper you find that the people that really did it. Were also the people that really worked through the hard intellectual problems.
Many people falsely believe that a great idea constitutes 90% of the work. However, there is a significant amount of craftsmanship required to bridge the gap between a great idea and a great product. As you evolve that great idea it changes and grows it never comes out like it starts because you learn a lot more as you get into the subtleties of it and you also find there's tremendous amount of trade-offs that you have to make.
There are certain things you can't make electrons do, certain things you can't make plastic or glass, certain things you can't make factories or robots do. and as you get into all these things, Designing a product involves juggling 5,000 different concepts, fitting them together like puzzle pieces, and exploring new ways to combine them. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities to push the boundaries of what's possible, and it's this ongoing process that is the key to successful product development. That process is the "magic"3 -
So enlighten me here. Am I the only one that doesn't lose his absolute shit when it comes to privacy?
I know that some companies are collecting data, and to a certain extent, I'm fine with it as long as the trade-off is good.
I like that Google is "learning" who I am and what I like, cause now, I only see news and articles relevant to my interests, and search predictions are much better. Same with targeted Ads. On an off chance that I'm not using Adblock I like seeing products that I might like, which I otherwise probably wouldn't even know existed.
Except for Microsoft. I have no idea why, but that's where I draw the line.96 -
20.000 holdings generated. Each unique in their own cute little way. Just finished the marketplace so users can trade the resources they produced, pagination is not working yet. Still no cofounder or anyone who would join the project. Still nothing to offer. :) But I'm keep going. There's a long way but I will not give up mr world! F* you.

Why do all developers that seem to know their stuff drinks, smokes or both? Is it some sort of a trade secret?25

At a developer conference, we were given these "dev joke" card to trade with another person, to break the ice and make a new connection.

Writing coroutines for io_uring. Submissions aren't working (they go through but the operation never seems to complete). Just fixed a few segfaults because of error cases not destroying coroutine handles correctly. Been on this for two days, finding more and more things I need to do that unrelated to the task at hand. Don't have issue tracking set up yet because haven't had time. Mountain of things that need to get working just for a demo is only growing. Layered maps of data structures and code flow are in my head as I'm trying to mentally debug some of this. I'm focused, completely dead to the outside world.
Then I feel a small scratch on my cheek. Three hours of mental mapping and a deep stack of thought, vanishes into thin air in a single moment.
The trade-off is worth it though.

So, I am a couple of more months in working in my new role. Learning the trade and boy do people have a lot of fucking things to say! It’s incredible the AMOUNT OF BULLSHIT these people get away with…
Background, I’ve been a software consultant for a number of companies working in different sectors in different development roles for +16 years. I built everything from RS232, iOS to BI. Shifted to permanent developer for large global corporation where I got promoted to clown.
Anyway, anyhow.
FUCK, these FUCKING people!!!
Meeting after meeting after endless pointless discussions and even more pointless fucking powerpoint presentation which if you stack them on top of each other will reach the FUCKING top floor where there are even more morons. FUCK!
There is absolutely NO cohesion, there is NO plan, short-term or long-term, no vision that can be practically implemented. There are different organizations of equal power and the result is a FUCKING MAZE.
But people travel the FUCKING GLOBE. You know, THE FUCKING PLANET EARTH, for pointless workshops and alignments (plural). FUCK!
And it’s getting worse. We’ve got consultants hiring consultants now whose job is to hire consultants. True story! And it’s not that high up the org chart either!
It’s a beast! A retarded beast.
We are NOT helping.
I got to get out of this fucking corporation. So, I am starting to design my exit strategy. The master plan.1 -
I hate silicon valley.
They enable so much of the state's and federal government's bullshit, the corporations and the banks subversion and destruction of society.
It's time to pop their fucking tech bubble.
From here on out, any time you hear or read the words 'startup', be sure to comment with "you mean speculative marketing investments?"
Because most tech runs on shit-tier semi-polished iterations of glorified CRUD anyway, thats all most of it is. And it 100% relies on grabbing network share through massive advertising and presence campaigns. A lot of vc money is being flushed straight down the toilet and this is a point to emphasize. Crash the fucking tech sector. Do it.
It'll have a knock on effect to the advertising space, which will put the hurt on google's bottom line when they and their ilk are already under pressure for all the poisonous, monopolist shit they pull like helping china build their surveillance tech.
Extra points for emphasizing "pot-fueled ideas sketched out on napkins while sitting in fucking chipotle, in unwashed sweater vests, originated by guys who are fresh out of college and never ran a business in their life. 90% of them fail in the first year. VCs and investor are losing their shirts." etc.
The entire dishonest fucking trade relies on other people's money, being bought out in either techno land-grabs or turf-protection e.x. atlassian acquiring trello, a **glorified todo app**.
Thats the business model. Hell go build your own and make a buck.
Build your own. Build something better and most of all... *fuck silicon valley*.
Let it burn, let burn, let it burn.10 -
I worked with a delightfully eccentric co-worker for many years... He was a UI/UX guy by trade but had a uniquely broad set of experiences in life.
Typical day often included singing, nerd-ranting and general jovial conversation. He was always a hoot at lunch as well, choosing to loudly proclaim his ultimate satisfaction and enjoyment at the meal he was consuming. -
The new EU copyright reform (article 13, etc.) is getting comical.
After even the big copyright holders retracted their support for the law, it seemed to have no chance and was "put on ice".
After short while it was warmed up again by negotiating some trade offs (which are apparently hated by everyone) and it may or may not be passed in the next few weeks.
So far so idiotic.
It seem that even the initiator - Axel Voss - will not vote for the law. Unfortunately for wrong reasons. Why? It is not strict enough for him.
Anyhow, the longer text he used to present his view he he seems to - copy - his argumentation from Bertelsman (German media group).
It could be funny, if all of that wasn't so sad as there is still the possibility that this stupid law passes. -
Was offered a really good price to set up a webshop, and he would pay me the same amount for two literal duplicates of the site.
"Oh btw I need it so no one can see who logged in to the website, there must be no traces of activity"
IOW - he makes shitloads on illegal horse trade while I take the blame for the website.1 -

Treat software development like a trade. Because it is one.
Would you hire someone to build a shed for you if you needed to supply the hammer and saw and they needed to read a "How to Build Sheds" book to just get started? No, you wouldn't.
So why would you hire someone that doesn't have any kind of ready-to-go dev environment?
Why would you hire someone that doesn't understand the basics of this field?
Why do you expect employees to stop what they are doing and teach the new guy everything he should already know, or be able to figure out on his own based on his own experience?21 -
I want to light this project on fire and walk away. Nothing is making any bloody sense.
According to specs, It’s updating a google wallet object via api, but isn’t generating the data to send along, despite every possible code path hitting that first. It also apparently isn’t calling any of the methods along the way. Obviously this is false, but that’s what the specs are reporting.
It’s also updating the object when nothing has changed. That might be, but shouldn’t, because I can see it calling the `should_update?` method which returns false, and it nopes out after that. so wth.
I’m so ready to never see this craziness ever again.

Life of a freelancer:
Freelance platforms are technologically advanced form of slave trade
Client assumes the position of lord and we the slave as soon as he hires us 😑4 -
Another rant reminded me:
I’ve been at the same company for almost five years now, and I’ve seen the dev teams grow: several juniors come in, and even a few that left - or more precisely, was let go. And for each of those that were let go, the root issue with them was always the same: not the lack of skills or ability to learn their trade at job, no. It was always communication issues serious enough to render working with them impossible.
So remember juniors, besides googling and problem solving, the most important skill to master in team-based dev envs is COMMUNICATION. You need to fucking be part of the team or you’re out, no matter how good you are technically. If that’s too hard, either this is the wrong line of work for you or you need to just go solo. It’s that simple, boys, girls, and everyone else on the spectrum.4 -
I love it when asshats, that wear testicles for sunglasses, like to ask me a question about my past experience with a given technology. Let's call it "X". After I've said my piece about the desired effect "X" was supposed to achieve, and describe the environment/scope where "X" was used, and describe the pain points I've encountered with it or the headaches "X" has caused in those environments, these camel spunk garglers then try to immediately rebut me by saying that every one of the times they've set "X" technology up it's worked just fine.
So, I kindly remind them that my past experience was in large enterprises where "X" technology just doesn't scale well so I've seen some issues with it.
Spunk Gargler: "Hmmm, must've just not been setup correctly."
I lose my shit (internally of course because I can't afford to be without a job right now.) and say, "I'm not so sure that it wasn't setup correctly, I just don't think that 'X' works properly at the scale of 500+ employee environments well. You've only ever set it up in small offices of like - what, 20 users?"
Shitlord McHerp-a-Derp who's Drunk on Spunk: "Maybe, but it just sounds like a bad configuration was causing those issues to me."
He shuffled back into his office shortly after I basically told him he's a fucking chump playing small team tactics and I've seen shit at scale so I've seen first hand what does and does not work well.
I'm writing this because this is the same fucking imbecile that has only ever encountered a /23 network once before from a client they inherited from a previous MSP team and they didn't know how to "safely change it" to a /24 so they just left it in place.
(BTW, just for the non-networking guys/gals out there, I'm sure you've already guessed it, but a /23 network is NOT a fucking problem!)
These puffy cancerous taint boils that call themselves IT engineers are the fucking problem!
I'm not a dev by trade or training, but trying to learn DevOps, and I can totally see why Dev teams can/sometimes get pissed with infrastructure teams... infrastructure/helpdesk side of IT is full of these fucking meat heads.1 -
The state of digital comic book metadata is a mess. There is not really a standard format if the metadata even exists at all. All digital comic books consist of is a zip or rar with ordered images and potentially some type of file to store metadata. The closest thing to a standard is the Comic Rack format of metadata and even that is not very widespread. There exists a project called comictagger(on github) that attempts to assign metadata in Comic Rack format but it is somewhat unpolished yet provides a solid feature set.
I am planning on making a program to organize comics based on metadata attributes and am frustrated with the lack of consistency in this department. This isn't really a problem because of any developers but I would argue more so due to the organization of comic books themselves. For example, the term volume can have a different meaning based on who is asked or what context is used. The redundancy between issues and trade paperbacks can also lead to confusion and logistical problems. I just wish we already had a widespread schema in place for comic books metadata already.9 -
Former classmate: Our alma mater is looking for alumni to participate in career day. Share what skills you need and the steps you took for your career path!
Me: Thanks for the invite. But I’m not a good role model for this.
FC: Why not? You’re a successful engineer!
Me: So I used my full tuition university scholarship on an art degree because I was too depressed after a long physical illness. Oh, and for some reason a lot of y’all assumed I went to a private uni when I went to the public uni. Then I went to graduate school immediately after and during a recession and ended up with tens of thousands in student debt. Then I did a lot of part time jobs before going to a shady coding bootcamp. I’m lucky to have encountered an advocate and a company willing to take me on as a junior dev. I’m pretty sure I was a diversity hire and I was definitely underpaid. I’m lucky to have moved on from there and to be thriving now. I’d tell the students to skip college (like I had considered) and go into a trade. And I’d also tell them a lot of life is luck and not just hard work.

I used to be a sysadmin and to some extent I still am. But I absolutely fucking hated the software I had to work with, despite server software having a focus on stability and rigid testing instead of new features *cough* bugs.
After ranting about the "do I really have to do everything myself?!" for long enough, I went ahead and did it. Problem is, the list of stuff to do is years upon years long. Off the top of my head, there's this Android application called DAVx5. It's a CalDAV / CardDAV client. Both of those are extensions to WebDAV which in turn is an extension of HTTP. Should be simple enough. Should be! I paid for that godforsaken piece of software, but don't you dare to delete a calendar entry. Don't you dare to update it in one place and expect it to push that change to another device. And despite "server errors" (the client is fucked, face it you piece of trash app!), just keep on trying, trying and trying some more. Error handling be damned! Notifications be damned! One week that piece of shit lasted for, on 2 Android phones. The Radicale server, that's still running. Both phones however are now out of sync and both of them are complaining about "400 I fucked up my request".
Now that is just a simple example. CalDAV and CardDAV are not complicated protocols. In fact you'd be surprised how easy most protocols are. SMTP email? That's 4 commands and spammers still fuck it up. HTTP GET? That's just 1 command. You may have to do it a few times over to request all the JavaScript shit, but still. None of this is hard. Why do people still keep fucking it up? Is reading a fucking RFC when you're implementing a goddamn protocol so damn hard? Correctness be damned, just like the memory? If you're one of those people, kill yourself.
So yeah. I started writing my own implementations out of pure spite. Because I hated the industry so fucking much. And surprisingly, my software does tend to be lightweight and usually reasonably stable. I wonder why! Maybe it's because I care. Maybe people should care more often about their trade, rather than those filthy 6 figures. There's a reason why you're being paid that much. Writing a steaming pile of dogshit shouldn't be one of them.6 -
I believe it is really useful because all of the elements of discipline and perseverance that are required to be effective in the workforce will be tested in one way or another by a higher learning institution. Getting my degree made me little more tolerant of other people and the idea of working with others, it also exposed me to a lot of topics that I was otherwise uninterested and ended up loving. For example, prior to going into uni I was a firm believer that I could and was going to learn all regarding web dev by maaaaaself without the need of a school. I wasn't wrong. And most of you wouldn't be wrong. Buuuuuut what I didn't know is how interesting compiler design was, how systems level development was etc etc. School exposed me to many topics that would have taken me time to get to them otherwise and not just on CS, but on many other fields.
I honestly believe that deciding to NOT go to school and perpetuating the idea that school is not needed in the field of software development ultimately harms our field by making it look like a trade.
Pffft you don't need to pay Johnny his $50dllrs an hour rate! They don't need school to learn that shit! Anyone can do it give him 9.50 and call it a day!<------- that is shit i have heard before.
I also believe that it is funny that people tend to believe that the idea of self learning will put you above and beyond a graduate as if the notion of self learning was sort of a mutually exclusive deal. I mean, congrats on learning about if statements man! I had to spend time out of class self learning discrete math and relearning everything regarding calculus and literally every math topic under the sun(my CS degree was very math oriented) while simultaneously applying those concepts in mathematica, r, python ,Java and cpp as well as making sure our shit lil OS emulation(in C why thank you) worked! Oh and what's that? We have that for next week?
Mind you, I did this while I was already being employed as a web and mobile developer.
Which btw, make sure you don't go to a shit school. ;) it does help in regards to learning the goood shit.5 -
I'm fed up with parents, teachers and others being sceptical at any digital skill.
I was banned from screens when I was younger and told I needed either a trade or to become something like an engineer. Any interest I had in computers was laughed at or not taken seriously... I am now the CEO of Blooware.co.uk a software startup.
My brother is going through the same thing as me except he believes he is useless, he is an incredibly talented 3D designer and it would mean the world to me if you'd follow his Instagram : https://instagram.com/morgan_prosse...3 -
A time I (almost) screamed at co-worker?
Too many times to keep up with.
Majority of time its code like ..
try
{
using (var connection = new SqlConnection(connectionString))
{
// data access code that does stuff
}
catch (Exception e)
{
// Various ways of dealing with the error such as ..
Console.WriteLine("Here");
ShowMessage("An error occured.");
return false;
// or do nothing.
}
}
Range of excuses
- Users can't do anything about the error, so why do or show them anything?
- I'll fix the errors later
- Handling the errors were not in the end-user specification. If you want it, you'll have to perform a cost/benefit analysis, get the changes approved by the board in writing, placed in the project priority queue ...etc..etc
- I don't know.
- Users were tired of seeing database timeout errors, deadlocks, primary key violations, etc, so I fixed the problem.
On my tip of my tongue are rages of ..
"I'm going to trade you for a donkey, and shoot the donkey!"
or
"You are about as useful as a sack full of possum heads."
I haven't cast those stones (yet). I'll eventually run across my code that looks exactly like that.1 -
I work for an investment wank. Worked for a few. The classic setup - it's like something out of a museum, and they HATE engineers. You are only of value if work on the trade floor close to the money.
They treat software engineering like it's data entry. For the local roles they demand x number of years experience, but almost all roles are outsourced, and they take literally ANYONE the agency offers. Most of them can't even write a for loop. They don't know what recursion is.
If you put in a tech test, the agency cries to a PMO, who calls you a bully, and hires the clueless intern. An intern or two is great, if they have passion, but you don't want a whole department staffed by interns, especially ones who make clear they only took this job for the money. Literally takes 100 people to change a lightbulb. More meetings and bullshit than development.
The Head of Engineering worked with Cobol, can't write code, has no idea what anyone does, hates Agile, hates JIRA. Clueless, bitter, insecure dinosaur. In no position to know who to hire or what developers should be doing. Randomly deletes tickets and epics from JIRA in spite, then screams about deadlines.
Testing is the same in all 3 environments - Dev, SIT, and UAT. They have literally deployment instructions they run in all 3 - that is their "testing". The Head of Engineering doesn't believe test automation is possible.
They literally don't have architects. Literally no form of technical leadership whatsoever. Just screaming PMOs and lots of intern devs.
PMO full of lots of BAs refuses to use JIRA. Doesn't think it is its job to talk to the clients. Does nothing really except demands 2 hour phone calls every day which ALL developers and testers must attend to get shouted at. No screenshare. Just pure chaos. No system. Not Agile. Not Waterfall. Just spam the shit out of you, literally 2,000 emails a day, then scream if one task was missed.
Developers, PMO, everyone spends ALL day in Zoom. Zoom call after call. Almost no code is ever written. Whatever code is written is so bad. No design patterns. Hardcoded to death. Then when a new feature comes in that should take the day, it takes these unskilled devs 6 months, with PMO screaming like a banshee, demanding literally 12 hours days and weekends.

About a year, maybe two years ago I stupidly spill drink on keyboard, immediate RIP.
Got myself a new one right away, obviously. Didn't have much money at the time so I cheaped out on it, got a piece of trash that can't read more than two inputs at once. Like say I can't hold down shift, press W and then space to jump, shit like that. I developed a little muscle memory to get around it, just quickly switching between running and jumping. Dumbest shit ever, it kills your momentum.
Anyway I don't mind that but I've started noticing the caps are disintegrating. Particularly Meta, Shift, Arrows, they're just destroyed. The Enter keycap flat-out shattered. I can see which key I hit the most by how much the plastic has... well, melted and caved in. my touch is fire (baby) oh yeah.
So, go into normie internet to look for stuff to buy. Yay consumerism, everything sucks. Look at these pieces o fshit. And these fucking websites man. Who designed this your mother, don't answer, your mother would've done a WAY better job. Ugh. Fucking bullshit.
And why is everything "gamer" and has that horrible rainbow aRrGeebEe shit. Dafuq, boi. This is some of the most visually displeasing shit I've ever seen, and I am a shit poster by trade, I have witnessed some of the most cavernous depths of the internet's unholy butthole. I thought bleeding through the urethra was painful, but no, this is somehow worse. I am experiencing such profound disgust it has affected me physically. Also am I just a ranting geezer at 31, heh, well best to be a rapidly mentally aging son of a bitch than a fucking jerkwad with an atrocious taste that somehow gets picked up and circlejackaloped off by an entire fucking industry.
But enough about your terrorized rectum, I have money to spend. Is that mechanical shit worth it I wonder. Like those oh so ~ a e s t h e t i c ~ shitbags that take keys away from you and yet charge you more for it. Like I don't care about it being cute, will the keys witstand the ecstasy of my flaming fingers. I type a lot, and I mean a lot, man. Have you ever seen my repos, millions upon millions of pseudo pornographic keystrokes spent on shit that does nothing, I am unashamed to admit it, now where is my medal of sin bestowed on me by the finest of malignant sponsors.
Anyway, fuck this rant, I lost my train of thought midway through and it became an abomination that I am too stubborn to hit delete on.
Also I have no delete key pls halp.19 -
manager: i heard that bitcoins' price just dropped. can you teach me how to trade bitcoins?
*apparently he saw me taking the blockchain trainings provided by the company. told him i only know they work but not trading. i feel like he's so disappointedrant bitcoin blockchain there was no training for trading concepts not trading i suck in finance stuff1 -
we are organizer of really big trade fair and wanted to place a new product. It was a landing page for exhibitors especially for the fair, the exhibitor would get a subdomain with his company name. This landingpage had some highly requested features such as a calender for scheduling meetings, some floorplan features and other stuff... long story short: not a single exhibitor booked it. it was just trash and huge waste of time. dont get me wrong, this was actually a really great idea but the endproduct just sucked... now 4 resignations later we may start a new try :D
wish i would be a more passionsted ranter/writer... i have a ton load of such things i could rant about... but most of the time i get my consolation by reading your rants here.

after few months of working in the company, I was offered to trade off my weekends in exchange for increase of salary. I said hell no, I would go crazy.
winter holidays we had removed... thankfully for money increase.
all next holidays were often just removed... without money increase.
next week is going to be official week of holidays. all in our country are going to have paid days off / vacation. It was declared by our president. 2 days of holidays were extended to 5 due to COVID break.
I wonder, how hard it would be for us to get those days as vacation %
we would have to ask for VACATION days in OFFICIAL HOLIDAY DAYS!. Hell, we had never had real vacation yet, and we are just wishing to have official holiday days remaining being holidays.
Urgh. I understand that I get pretty good salary for my first work, but still wishing quite a lot for holidays, should I press for it? *sigh*
on another hand I don't really want salary decrease, which can come if I would press for it *sad face*.7 -

Watching someone at a conference trying to play a video in their presentation on Windows PowerPoint. It’s painful to see. No audio. They then ripped the video from YouTube. It still wouldn’t play even in Windows Media Player. They’re still fiddling with it while the speaker and audience trade dad jokes. If I hooked up my Mac it would immediately work. How do Windows users live like this?2

I need you guys' help.
As mentioned earlier in one of my rants, I trade stocks part time, make a little money. But I am too tired from my full time work. So it is badly affecting my health. My broker is providing us with an API and docs at a monthly fee to develop software to automate trades.
I posted a job on Upwork, a few freelancers bid but their price was way beyond my budget.
Hence I decided to take up programming.
I was initially inclined towards C#, but seeing as how complex it is, I was thinking of going for python. Do you think it is a reasonable decision?8 -
Attended a game workshop session by Mark Skaggs, creator of Farmville. At one point he asked all the programmers to raise their hands. I love to code even though i aint an expert in backend db related code. I raised my hand. Then he asked all the designers to raise their hand. I love to graphic design as a hobby even though i aint an artist. I raised my hand again.
He noticed and said "Interesting..."
It made me question which trade i should focus more on. I still have years ahead to master them but should i give up one for the other?
Would be cool to hear your thoughts on this!4 -
Isn't it curious that most development libraries, frameworks, widgets in an ecosystem see a decrease in popularity when they reach a "no longer under active development"/ maintenance stage (especially exacerbated in the front-end)?
As if we just can't settle on a convention. As if, even for limited-scope solutions, a final stage can never be reached, there must be perpetual growth. As if we must constantly trade a solution for a shinier one, that just might provide us with 2% profit based on a doubtful forecast... or not. Sounds a lot like the investment capitalism that resulted in the 2008 subprime crisis. Not sure what to make of this thought but

I’ve been trying to find a job in my field for the last four months and nothing. Today I got a lead on a trade job with a construction and renovation company. I have zero experience with anything they do and their rep offered paid training with improved earnings with increased skill over time. I can start next week if I take it. Less pay than I’m used to but more than zero which is what I’m making now.
Another friend who is a handyman is offering me more per hour and training as well. Just handing him tools and shit until I learn enough to be useful.
Now I’m wondering, why have I been wasting time on a dead-end programming industry that ultimately outsources everything overseas for less than minimum wage?6 -
Basic REST server authentication: pass a valid username in the URL of your request and you can publish trade and market data that's used by other systems.
I think they're moving to oAuth now but... These developers are slow and only do things when a gun (Sr. Management) is held to their heads. -
The worst technology i had to deal with was probably a piece of hardware. It was a mini-pc combined with sensors and digital IOs and thus, it should have been able to do process control all by itself.
At that time, there was hardware that did that, but this one had an intel cpu, windows embedded and some powerful libraries pre-installed.
Sounds good, didn't work. The thing was so unstable and buggy and crashed on everything. The sensor part had lots of parameters and the right order was trial and error, documentation didn't match behavior, fixes promised but never delivered.
Lucky for us: it was just a demokit, no real project.
I still remember it with a smile. We got in contact to that company at a trade fair and they had most impressive booth. I also remember their companies image movie from their homepage with developers in dark labs with holographic monitors and the boss in his shiny bright office as he looked out of the window and quoted a famous german author.
Hilarious and sad. :-)2 -
To the ones that are/were students at a trade school, particularly in Germany.
Is it normal, that most IT students there are such dumbfucks?6 -
Ok so apparently, if you are a mid-skilled worker and want to sell a service in this country you must register to some "state trade chamber" and start paying 3k/yr right away.
So, by doing the math, if I wanted to provide some cheap hosting service I should start with minimum 200 customers from day 0.
Fuck that.6 -
My dad was using notepad to edit some HTML for his website. I downloaded Visual Studio Code and he likes it SO MUCH MORE. (I wonder why....).
Kinda happy I could help him with it. He is pretty good at coding but just hasn't done it in a while (not his trade) so he doesn't know all the new tools and such.3 -
"Attending" WWDC 2025 ("attending" is a stretch). I'm starting this thread as a multi-rant (comments count).
To start it off, WWDC 2025 is, like all these other virtual 2020's WW's, BORING... World Wide Dull Cinema.. It's like being in developer-solitary-confinement. After going to the in-person ones, I can safely say that it is hard to care about anything in WWDC beyond the keynote...
And when Tim gets on there /still/ trying to extoll the virtues of it being virtual, it is pretty clear that they are trying to compensate...
1. no collaboration
2. uninspiring without your peers
3. random because there is no real schedule
4. boring because you don't meet anyone new
5. career limiting, can't trade vCards & resumes
6. cringy trying too hard announcements
(just sayin', love you guys but come on here...)
WWDC 2019 and prior were awe-inspiring. WWDC pre 2020 collected enough IQ in one place to make the world wobble on its axis.
WWDC needs to go back to in-person /with/ streaming for those of us who can't make it. Change the venue to Las Vegas for crying out loud, they can handle the *worlds* *largest* *trade* *show* (aka CES) there... WWDC is small potatoes by comparison.3 -
Every once in a while I start to question my development principles and start to read articles, especially software philosophical, and try to improve my practices, aswell as find several trade-offs between my own best practices.

Bootcamps get you up and running in coding quickly. If you are a programmer, companies are only interested on how quickly, error free and cheaply you produce marketable output. Bootcamps enable this.
More or less you are not more than a former assembly line worker putting parts on a car platform. Your value is not very high as you may be exchanged at any time at their will.
Nevertheless, you can earn money quickly. You trade in your youth and time which might be a dead end in the long-term. Trends go to machine learning, artificial intelligence. They will not need Bootcamp people and code workers.
It is better you set up Bootcamps and sell them versus absolving this. Like selling shovels during the gold rush, but not working in the mud of Alaska by yourself.
Your choice is: Making quick money, which fades anyway; or striving for the long-term future proof career.
C/S degrees from Technical Universities of reputation give to you the right direction under a strategic consideration. Companies which pay well, or freelancing with a solid acknowledged background, will always look for top graduates. People from Bootcamps are just OK for hammering assembly line coding. Even worse with SCRUM in one noisy room under enormous team server pressure controls, counting your lines of code per minute, with pale people all around. And groups of controllers never acknowledging nor trusting your work.
To acquire a serious degree, a Bachelor is nothing. Here, in INDIA, Bachelor now is what a former high school grade was. You must carry a diploma or Masters degree combined with internships at big companies with high brand recognition. This will require 4–6 years of your lifetime. You can support this financially by working part-time freelancing as making some projects front- or back-end web, data analysis and else.
Bootcamp people will lose in the long-term. They are the modern cannon fudder of software production.
It is your choice. Personally, I would never do Bootcamps. Quality and sustainability require time, deep studies and devotion. -
As a person who never took any CS courses, I don't really see the market value of them, apart from getting through ignorant degree gating at companies with backward corporate philosophies.
As I understand, even a degree isn't really that helpful in getting your foot in the door.
That said, the week 92 question assumes there is something wrong with the nature of CS instruction. College is not trade school. The point of it is to get an education, not a job. Many employers require that education, and that's their prerogative, but for a number of reasons, chief among them being the rapid pace of the advance of technological concepts, most employers do not.
A candidate having a CS undergraduate degree is far less attractive to an employer than one without a degree, but who has a year or two of experience with the technologies the position involves.
That said, I personally think that as college is for an education and not career building, computer science curricula should focus on theory, and not on applied technology. A focus on the latter just guarantees that the subject material will be dated and irrelevant.
But as many people (maybe even most) think college is trade school, I think it's absolute madness to enter into debt slavery in exchange for expiring qualifications.3 -
I initially chose System Administration simply because it was attractive to me to be the HMFIC, and generally above the law as corporate policy is concerned, as said law for the most part applied to people with less comprehensive knowledge about how any given system or technology works.
Since then though, I've learned that there's basically no better way to become a jack of all trades than being a sysadmin. There's no other position in the tech field that more easily and gracefully parlays into other specialties.
I write automation and aggregation software now, but I still consider myself a sysadmin by trade, as automation is just another function of system administration. I write everything in vim, and almost entirely in perl, because I am concerned above most other concerns about performance. I could learn C or Go or Rust or some other low-level compiled language, and I'm sure I could create even more performant software that way, but that would take me farther away from my passion: System Administration. -

Since most of the people around here can code decently well and also have the capacity and knowledge(imo) to trade stocks regularly, I'd like to know if anyone really does it?

I'm thinking of designing a programming language.
I want it to have easy to read syntax like python. Inheritance and interfaces like java. More advanced concepts like pointers and memory management like c++.
I was originally going to write my own compiler but I figured it's not worth reinventing the wheel. So the current plan is to basically just create a parser that turns a source file into c++ code and then that is compiled with g++. The only problem I can think of with that is catching runtime errors.
How does this language sound?
My purpose is to have a language that is as easy to read as python but with the speed of a compiled program and the ability to use it for embedded projects. I feel like reading larger C++ projects can be quite time consuming. So I figure the trade off of taking a little longer to write the code to make it more obvious what is going on is better than having a lot of syntax that can be tough to walk though the logic of (I find this often with c and c++, not like I don't figure it out but It definitely takes longer than it does to read and understand python)4 -

You know, in my limited experience, I find the whole CS degree debate to be quite unnerving. I mean, if you can teach yourself to be a computer genius, I greatly respect you. You're really going placed. Sadly though, learning everything on my own is a bit of a challenge for me. I just find this whole degree-holding VS non-degree-holding conversation to be very confusing. I'm currently enrolled in a 4-year CS program. I personally have learned more there iny first week than I have in months on my own. Now I know all too well that development is often more of a craft or a trade than it is a typical procedural job, but I'm honestly really anxious because I have half of the world telling me to pursue a degree (which I am) and I have the other half telling me to gain experience (which I did). The thing that is stressing me out is the continual pressure to do all of one option instead of a little of both. My life is changing faster than the tech industry, and boy is it a bumpy ride. So unless there is good advice to be said regarding the path you take to become an amazing developer, why fight over the need for a CS degree?9

Well fuck. I am experiencing over-engineering first hand.
I am the single dev responsible for developing a small feature but which is an identity to our whole product(feel free to guess it here). This is quite simple I thought, I can just modify the constants which are being used in the source code and I can finish it off in a week tops. I asked all the relevant teams over which this feature would have dependencies and they gave me a green signal. Setup Jenkins configuration and everything for this new feature. With a wide grin on my face, I sent out a pull request. Now the architect of our product declined the pr saying to change everything from the bottom up giving the reason that it would be configurable sometime later in the future. Now mind you, I get it if this feature could change over time and needs customability. But it has been the same since last seven years and would probably not change again for a couple of years ahead [you have to take my word for it.]. Its not that the guy is a douche or anything, he is one of the best dev I have ever personally came across and I highly respect and admire him. But there has to be a trade off between the effort you are putting in versus the benefit you get. Now I have to touch almost every file, super carefully look in the whole product if a bug creeps out from anywhere and change the existing code to a point where it doesn't even make sense to me anymore, and write tests ofcourse.

Alright guys, I need some advice now from you..
My employer is super impressed with my worked and they are willing to relocate me to the US (Seattle).
As you all are aware that I am actively trying to move out of my country but lately have realised that no matter what, it's home.
Also, I am way to close to my mother and don't want to leave her alone for an extended period of time as both my parents are ageing and I cannot be a selfish fuck to ignore them during their last phase of life.
I want to make the most to spend time with them.
Some key points that I need help with
- I am more inclined towards the UK/EU than US
- Need to spend time with parents/family
- Need to secure some cash for some key life moments
Some challenges:
- Cannot take parents along because they'd not be able to settle for more than 1.5 month outside for various reasons
- If I am moving out, why shouldn't I go to a place I love than a place I don't?
Some plans:
Plan A: Move to Seattle (6 months) > FAANG > Get a high paying high in India (all this in 2 year duration) > Settle down > Periodically travel Europe and explore hobbies
Plan B: Move to Seattle (6 months) > FAANG (optional) > Find a job in the UK/EU (4.5 year duration) > Fullfill EU dreams > Get a high paying job in India > Settle > Continue exploring hobbies
Plan C: Stay in India with current company (6 months) > IJP or EJP to the UK/EU (5 year duration) > Fullfill EU dreams > Get a high paying job in India > Settle > Continue exploring hobbies
I need to pick one while keeping in my that I can spend more time with parents and fullfill my dreams as well. I am confident that money will follow and I'll save enough for my retirement. Willing to trade off some extremely high paying jobs for a happier lifestyle.28 -
1) Having a complex and inaccessible skill trade entitles me to be a condescending elitist.
2) Because I usually choose to waive that privilege and be a nice team player instead I am almost universally appreciated.

This is really annoying when you’ve good paid job with really good coworkers but you want to change it... Took my first PTO today since joining the new company to get my wisdom teeth extracted. Already took care of that first thing this morning. Now I actually get to kick back and listen to some records until my new GPU is delivered, and then I get to fuck off the rest of the weekend with new games because my wife says I can't do any yard work this weekend.
Only had the top two extracted because I was born without the bottoms I guess. But less pain on my wallet and my jaw, I'll happily trade in the narcotics they gave me and stick to my scotch.
Not a bad 3 day weekend in my book. Ill have to go back and figure out who/what broke the projection runner in the sandbox environment when I go back, but eh. that's a Monday problem now. 😎4 -
Ngl I probably never would've learned any programming properly without it. I'm too disorganized and get distracted easily so I probably wouldn't have learned any language if it took me more than 30 minutes to get up and running. Plus I made great friends that I wouldn't trade for the world and learned a lot about myself and how I think and work with problems. I really doubt I would've become a hobby programmer so yeah. Unpopular opinion but I'm having a good time at uni. It also seems like my university does a lot more to prepare us for development in the real world than many other universities do so that might have something to do with it.1

As I started learning React, I found the allure of declarative style of programming appealing. I try to avoid maintaining multiple state variables for data that can be derived from the base state itself that's stored in the redux store. It works wonders when I have to change something; as I just need to make changes to one function in the utils folder and that change is implemented across the whole app, rather than change the instances everywhere as was the case when I initially started working on this project after the previous dev left.
But I see myself redefining a lot of computed values everywhere, and if I just try to define them in the root component, I'll end up with a huge list of props being passed to a couple of components. Shifting it to the utils folder helps a bit, but then I find myself defining even the simplest of array filtering methods to the utils folder.
Is this need to define computed values everywhere a trade-off that you need to accept when you write declarative code, or is there a workaround/solution I am missing? As of now, the code-base is much better than how it used to be when they had a literal Java dev work on React with their knowledge of Java patterns being used in a framework that is the polar opposite of OOP, but I still feel like there's room for improvement in this duplication of computed values.2 -

Hello everyone,
My name is Andi and I would appreciate some advices how I can get started in the IT sector.
Im very interested in the development of software.
I was always interested in software and all around computers.
Right know I'm working in a boring steel trade company and I want finally start to develop some skills for my (hopefully) future job.
Do I need to study to get a good job as developer or do I have to learn to code all by my self ?

During interview about possible spying by Huawei President of Czech republic said few minutes ago that he will do his best to try to negotiate our stand with China, since he does not see any problem with possible spying, because its common practice of trade war between tech giants. He later added that he does not think that leaked names and addresses might be any problem "What would people do with such an info".
I mean... what difference would make if he had a lobotomy?7 -
I'm seeking opinions and thoughts on my predicament.
I have 2ish paths before me.
Next year I resume my studies in Science Communication and Computer Science in particiliar a bachelor of science, I have considered then doing master in managent or computer science.
1) I am able to have a income of about 800 AUD a fortnight (this is to support me during study without requiring work) plus extra from a part time job whilst I study for about 2 years. Throughout this time I would like to skill up in a variety of fields as immensley as possible.
2) I can accept a full time junior web developer job while I study, this job is with a great government research organisation which as a first FT job looks great on a resume, it is is project based work where I get given a project and code and pretty much complete it. The job is flexible, I can mostly work where-ever I want, at home, at a cafe, travelling. With maybe a meeting once a week. The pay is about 65kAUD a year.
Both options are very attractive options with each containing there own pros and cons. With the extra money I could learn more or use it to grow a business or do more.
However without the FT job I could still earn about 1-1.5k a fortnight for alot less time.
I am still discovering what to do in life, I'm very good at public speaking and would like to experience and learn more about lots of different things. My current knowledge is very broad from engineering to CS, graphic design, authoring, trade skills, Digitial design and more.
Ideally I would like to learn how to lead people, to make the world a better place and help people. Figuring out where my strengths lay and where to apply them is difficult as I am fascinated by so many things.
I worry about taking the FT job as it might detract from my studies and lead me to pursueing mostly only web development work as well as take up time that might be better spent on extra study or in a leadership position in a uni club.
The PT job is a IT Systems Technician in the Australian Defence Force.
Which is a interesting experience within itself, different from civilian life and also I would be learning about systems that I might have less experience with.
I have such broad interests in alot of fields that I don't seem to be focussed on select things or areas like other devs I've met, Science Communication is a versitile field, one of my professors expertise is on doctor who and it's role in science engagement, she has written books on it. Others are in public policy or directed podcasts or even made games. Despite my broad interests computer science was always a gield I did well in.
Any thoughts, opinions or questions are welcome.
I have a blog/portfolio I put my work and projects up if it helps people know more about me, you can find it at curiosityplace.wordpress.com2 -
Hello ranters,
I have a job interview about Symfony tomorow. Any advices on big concepts I should be confortable with ?6 -
Ok, @jestdotty , today, i give up on china.
I've been messaging with a rep who is taking the time to keep editing a contract... Im pretty sure she was genuinely trying...
As typing this we finally got to a 'correct enough' contract... so I could click the damn pay button.
Over the past 7 hrs.. at 3 back and forth exchabges and modifications at each issue:
1. Used previous PI from the dude i gave up on... so had a qty at 12 when only 11 exist a colour wrong for a crate of items, and listed the dude i refused to sign a contract under listed as the rep.
2. Now the item subtotals were off... just a few pennies or so... assumed she left the usd prices but calculated with ¥... didn't want alibaba to reject in a day so i checked if it was noted anywhere... Oh boy was it... VERY clearly, all caps, bold in the body of the total row... that the total was, exactly, 11680 (spelled out ofc) RMB aka ¥ chinese yen. I told her this, she sends me a cropped shot of the $ numeric total field... so i sent her the giant all caps bolded line, the one thatd typically be considered final say in most international courts... no clue where that value came from, it had zero relation to any actual values... and i was as curious as when chatGPT creates totally new, unique, lyrics for satirical german songs... i really tried.
3. Wrong incoterms (trade terms... abbreviated to a few letters... had it that I'd be physically going to the tbd port to accept/clear customs... no)
4. Technically it was accurate (well a few strange subtotals since she used ¥ half the time... told her it was fine as long as it had the company name on the label (gave 3 full examples to use whichever)
I get the contract ...shipping...
"To: Sara"
Then the right address (seriously wtf)
5. I point this out and carefully explain in mostly just examples and "the us government doesn't like anything being sent to just a first name, there's no legal way to sign for acceptance"
6. She gets stressed enough to tell me she doesn't have time to keep editing (since this horrid pile of poor formatting was just thrown at her a day ago... i dont point out the ridiculous irony)
7. Imo, the highlight of my night/morning... in her stress she promises me it'll ship right... sooo many issues there...
Even if it was delivered/allowed a signature for "sara" for 7ish large boxes just off a sea freight from china to a residence in the middle of a corn field (which tbh would be hysterical)...the IRS would have a valid reason to audit me... theyve done it w/o valid reasons several times, since I was 18 doing international trade and a contractual employee of a large gambling company, quarterly reporting, and ofc declaring more than my taxes in donating melted glass and crane game prizes...yea, they hate me and always do all that work to find the same thing... i underdeclare charity by 10%.
The entire concept of getting USA mail, even when pristine and you know logistics agents in every major company and port or distribution center, to properly deliver anything... ROFLOL ... and im already on some 'open and check everything' list with customs for a hysterical misconception they made years ago... cant/shouldn't get into detail publicly... but it was caused because 2 packages from different cities in China were both going to my address/through customs at the same time... package 1, 75 of those cheap af ball-pit hollow plastic balls for a 2yr old's bday(very delayed) package 2. 75 rechargeable batteries (the kind in power banks) 9600mah.
8. Told her to change "sara" to company name... glad it's registered to this address still.
It took me under 5min to type this... had to get the WTF out.
Dear AliBaba, please give an option to allow buyers to create the supply side contract for review, not just req modification... please?2 -
Can someone example to me why do people use a VPN when not on public wifi? Like you are already at home with your own private network.
Like the moment you log into Facebook or Twitter or medium or to check your Gmail/outlook whatever, all you are doing is making is making it very clear to the host companies that you are inconsistently paranoid. Because all the sudden the person who's home address is in Seattle, work and home phone are in Seattle and all of their communication is done with people in Seattle. Has their web traffic location encrypted unknown.
Yeah your packets might be encrypted, but you are still spreading enough self identifying information by merely existing on the web.
At the end of day it seems more like a illusion of safety that these VPN sell. At the cost of a good dollar and slower internet speeds.
Unless you got some actual trade secrets and sensitive information, the f is the point for you to use one?17 -
So… I’m in full stack bootcamp and don’t know much tricks of the trade as of yet… but, has anyone ever tried using “Jupyter-notebook” while using a libgit in a-Shell for iOS to edit cloned repository files from their phone?… it seems possible but I question its efficiency.

I just started playing terraria and holy shit, it puts minecraft to shame in so many aspects.
It actually makes you feel like the mc devs are some fucking lazy ass morons sitting on piles of cash.
Minecraft is 11 years old and it has 4 bosses and they are all underwhelming pieces of shit, jesus christ.
They can't even make mining fun for fucks sake. Work an half an hour or more to get a full set of diamond only to accidentally lose it to lava in the nether.
They added netherite? Holy shit I can't wait to see the new gear I can craft with it.
Pickaxe, axe, shovel, hoe, sword, helmet, chestplate, leggings, boots. Wow, netherite shovel, that's what the minecraft community needed.
How about an actual battle axe, knives? a baseball bat? Spells? Fucking something minecraft, come on, you can't just have 10 weapons man!
The lack of creative content and variety in minecraft is staggering. Adding a block of a different color and texture is not new content!!!
Also, fuck villagers and the sound they make and their faces. Worse character design ever. Not a single redeeming aspect. And fuck their trading system.
The trade system is horrible!!! One item at a time per character. No text from villagers. They don't have names!!!! They don't feel like villagers!!! They feel like robots!!!! Not a single one of them fights back!!!!! WHAT THE FUCK???? JUST ADD ONE THAT FIGHTS BACK YOU MORONS!!! NOT THAT WEIRD ASS GOLEM!!!
AND NO ONE GIVES TOO FUCKING SHITS ABOUT THE GOSSIP SYSTEM MC DEVS. NO OONEEEEE!!!
Terraria is not a perfect game, but it doesn't just try to be a good rpg, it actually is.
Meanwhile every 3d sandbox after minecraft will either be a filthy clone or not exist at all by fear of being labeled as such. Because of that I will keep on trashing on minecraft, even though I still play it a lot.11 -
Pharmacy... Preorder-mail got stuck in spam due to weird receiver passphrases so they didn't actually order it (it was "banana" followed by an steadily incrementing number). You wouldn't believe their faces after they saw my mail.
It took the pharmacy exactly ONE HOUR to get that medicine after I went up getting them to know that they missed an order. They express ordered it after I guess I signaled the urgency...
That's one of the pretty great things in Germany. If you need medicine and if you're in a medium populated area, you could get it within hours, or at least in 1/2 day if they not express the order and you order over their website.
But this is attacked due to European trade deals. Online pharmacy shops (the ones without local pharmacies) simply trade in from cheaper areas in Europe and can sell much cheaper. Also because they aren't committed to cross finance local hospital medicine delivery which then let's the health insurance raise their prices.
But due to the law for the minimum wage and therefore steadily decreasing wages the online-only pharmacies get more and more of the market cap....
Such problems aren't easy to fix...3 -
Well that depends on if I made the A.I
if I did fuck it I'm rich buy an island get airdropped a two month supply of crown every month and I wouldn't give a shit what happens.
if I don't I guess trade skills in carpentry and electrical would be a good fallback if I don't just become a farmer -
What do you use for your side-projects regarding Anti-DDoS protection?
I have a community with 1-2k daily users hosted in Siteground. Currently, I am not experiencing any DDoS issues (mainly L4) but I used to when I was using another service provider. The trade-off is that the machine and the service I'm paying here is way more expensive.
I don't care about managing the server, but I was looking for a cheaper option to get my project with.
The stack is LAMP and it is an Invision Power Board forum.
What do you recommend? Which service(s) do you use for your projects and how do you prevent DDoS on your side?13 -

The charging port on my Galaxy S8 is messed up and is constantly disconnecting while charging, which results in the phone either slow charging or just got charging at all.
I thought I got the monthly phone insurance through Verizon and I was just gonna pay the deductible and get the phone replaced, but apparently I don't actually have the insurance even though I could've sworn I did. So that option is out the window.
So now I'm left with 3 other options:
1.) Pay $100 to get the charging port repaired at a local repair shop
2.) Pay off the remaining $200 I owe on the phone and get a phone upgrade from Verizon (because I am due for an upgrade)
3.) Get the upgrade but still keep my current phone on my plan and just pay the remaining $200 off monthly like I have been since I got the phone, except I'd also be paying for a second phone. Which is fine, because either way I'd be paying the $200. It's just a question of paying it in a lump sum or paying it monthly. Either works for me, it's $200 both ways
The downside of upgrading now is that I wouldn't be able to get the Galaxy S10 when that comes out, and that's what I've been waiting for as I prefer the smaller Galaxy S phones over the Galaxy Notes.
I suppose I could trade in whichever phone I get when the S10 comes out, but that would be a huge hassle and I'd have to pay at least 50% of the phone off in order for it to be eligible for trade-in

A: Do you know Big O?
B: Yea I know Big O. Who doesn't know Big O?
A: So what's the Big O of X?
B: It's ....
A: Oh what about Y?
B: Oh that has a bigger Big O.
A: Hm... how about this one?
B: That's a really big Big O. Why not use mine?
A: Ooh that looks impressive, very small. So which Big O should we use?
B: Well there's a constant trade off, even though small is good, in this case I think the bigger one works better.4 -
Guys check out IOTA, get a light node wallet and buy some as long as it is still low. It is rising at a rising rate since some hours now.
IOTA is the solution to bitcoins speed and scalability problems. IOTA does not use the blockchain but instead a network called the tangle, which enables decentralized peer-to-peer transactions. There are no miners, no fees and the transaction validation speed depends on how many people are using the currency. One transaction requires your device to validate 2 other transactions through proof of work and therefore the system can never be overloaded by too many transaction requests.
Be warned though, the IOTA foundation is only currently building up the infrastructure, and people are just starting to trade since a few weeks so trasactions still may take a few hours.3 -
So India launched this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/... last week.
It tracks your location and let you know if you have come in close proximity with someone who has been tested COVID-19 positive.
I don't wanna debate about the privacy concerns as India doesn't really get these things.
As for the moment, I will happily trade my location data for my life.5 -
Out of any service industry web dev is the only one that shorts it own market and full of lies making it impossible for any real person trying to make and honest living and everyone seems to be okay with it - no other trade does this 25 years experience haven't found a job yet in a year something's not right too many people are lying making people untrustworthy I know I'm not the only one that feels like this8

An engineer's clinging focus on the dualistic right and wrong will prevent them from seeing the middle way, the way of the solution, the way of balance between all trade-offs.2

Any opinions on using Entity Framework vs Dapper for an API for a vue SPA Web app?
I have used both, and it seems it is a trade off of more control vs convenience.4 -
I don't have a cs degree (my degree is in aerospace engineering). However, I think the question is valid for any degree. The answer depends on the field. When sitting in on interviews over the years, the type of degree for programming jobs never seemed that important if there were experience involved. So, if the job description required 2 yrs exp. in X, then that experience trumped the degree type. If the job was for a junior dev right out of college, then degree type becomes one of the most important factors. So, for that first job, it's important that you've got a degree (any degree) because it shows that you can accomplish that chunk of work. Having a cs degree at that point does provide a distinct advantage over those with medieval romantic french poetry degrees. That's the game, and don't fret if 95% of the material you study in college you never use again. The point of studying it wasn't to use it immediately (go learn a trade if that's your bent), it was to both test you and to expose you to specialties that you might want to do later.

I used to dream of systems which were built into the infrastructure for a variety of reasons
One was I didn’t feel object detection was likely good enough to handle various objects say to stock shelves in warehouse like stores
The other was power
If the stretch works one might wonder how many of them they’d have to employ to schedule them to recharge themselves throughout the day
It’s a shame humans as is can’t be trusted with too much free time given how the boomer generation and before willfully poisoned the minds of so many of their offspring creating this mess
We might have reached a point where life was mostly personal Enrichment and study and exercise and leisure where we all lived over a 100 years had minimal offspring reduced our destructive footprint on the world and well you get the idea
With more people working in closed shops we might have even reached this tech sooner
I wonder how prohibitive the price tag is how fast it runs out of power how destructive it is to non durable goods and the what other faults that have kept us from advancing into the golden age the last time I posted this before way way back now
Or maybe rich perverts don’t want to give up their monopoly of control over other peoples lives once were forced to change our lives economic system to adapt
Issue of course is population size
The replacement to honest labor and ingenuity or making a better world in the USA has been a short cut we commonly call slavery and that creates incentive for them most of evil people to breed continually and sell their children
Population in a time period of extreme leisure under normal circumstance would likely fall off
Humans would want to enjoy endless travel which is another problem if we keep cars that are based off fossil fuel
Much like increased tech has the trade off of increased usage of energy that is dirty like our nuclear plant problem in the USA where many places aren’t even carting their waste to Nevada down the 10 mile tunnel they’re supposed to be
So we’re stuck
Oh well
Hopefully there is reincarnation
Maybe I’ll come back as a cat
People just had to pull their insane shit when I was alive
Why couldn’t it have Ben something Normal like war or occupation or just hardship of some form instead of designed hardship to control good people and pattern bastards into this weird shit I see all around me because they’re both evil and afraid of losing what they have
Doesn’t this seem familiar ?
It should
Just like the competitors to Boston dynamics I’m looking up have been spawned as a result of YouTube presenting me with the same video as part of its algorithm heh
And also be because I mentioned that before6 -
A long time ago my windowed grandma sent a letter to my belgian grandpa. She lived in britany. They had met at 14 years old. He was a sailor at the time. Trade marine. He brought her back to the burnin town.
Britany is still my forever home, I feel more at home than anywhere except my hometown.
Next september we're gonna blow her remains on her favorite beach.

I'm thinking about using my rep to post a collab for a open source low powered (low powered if possible) motion trail cam app.
Only I have zero android experience (I am a nodejs/meteor/javascript dev by trade).
Shall I go for it and rely on others experience? or go for something nodejs based?5 -
I’m swinging by SF early next month. Any cool meet ups or things to do that people recommend? Obviously will use meetup.com etc but don’t want to miss out on some local knowledge!
I’m a laravel dev by trade but love React, Vue, RoR, and am interested in machine learning, legal tech, and decent beer/chat. -
STEM by Mercury Learning : are they good ?
The Humble Bundle seems cool, but I've never read any of those. -
Advice/input welcome:
I’m nearing the end of my first year of a 2 year SE program at college. I’m considering leaving at the end of this year and looking for a job, but I don’t have much of a portfolio and feel insecure about my ability to make it in this industry. I know it’s probably just impostor syndrome, but it’s a really hard feeling to shake. It’s a trade college, so the program is designed to have students work ready by the end, but there is a certificate for having completed the first year even though most students do both years.
I’m competent with java, web dev including JavaScript vanilla and bootstrap, ok with python and a lil c++, and I used c# over last summer in unity to develop a game I never finished. 2nd year is mostly more of the same, just more in depth. I’m feeling like idgaf about school anymore, and there are some things happening in my life that would benefit from a full time salary and a decent health care plan.
I spoke with an alum of the program who left after one year to work, and he strongly suggested I stay for the 2nd year, but wasn’t clear on why he thought that.
So what I wanna know is, from folks in the workforce, do you think I should stick it out for the last year and then look for work? Or would I be ok to just... go and start looking for a job now?2 -
Any reputable trade magazines or websites i should be looking at that are not just the technology equivalent to the natuonal inquirer?1

I never finished it, but before I was working in the industry, I was coding through a book called Build Your Own AngularJS. My intent was to have piecemeal instruction/example in TDD and code way above the level of complexity I was used to. You essentially build the core of AngularJS in about 900 unit tests with total coverage. 1000pages long, its no walk in the park.
I gave it up when my time was short, and focused on higher level concepts: building apps, learning tools of the trade.
Now that I am getting plenty of exposure to that level, I am thinking my free learning hours may be better spent going down into the complex worlds shown in this book. A couple of things I found there really stayed with me and shaped how I think about problems. It was also very illuminating to see how complex algorithms work “in the wild”. I cant stand learning algorithms in isolation, generally speaking.
Has anyone seen this book? I know the framework itself is older now, but I don’t think that is much relevant for this learning use case.
I only know of one student who completed this. Took him a few months. He is an absolute machine. -
Every 3 years or so I invest in a new iMac. I was holding on for the new M1 IMacs, which are ready to order. So I am trading in my 2017 Imac and guess what I get £420 🍾 trade in value. What I am saying is, they may seem pricey to most people but when you can get a 1/3rd back when you trade in for a machine that has run constantly for 3 years without any issues or downtime that’s a pretty good investment. 👌🏼PS the MacBook pros are shite, only a fool would by one of those😀38

So I was tooling through the same dumb crap again looking at the same posts and watching as people just for some reason do the same things as we no longer try to solve the problem of the country getting bankrupted which they cause and I feel an almost total lack of any or all motivation to do anything.
why should I ?
people are chomping at the bit to ruin our country and have succeeded for some time now.

HOW TO HIRE A HACKER TO HELP ME RECOVER MY STOLEN FUNDS— HIRE DIGITAL HACK RECOVERY COMPANY
When I received an email claiming I had been selected for a government grant of $30,000, I was excited. As a small business owner in Florida, this seemed like a fantastic opportunity to help my business grow. The message looked official, complete with government logos and persuasive language, explaining that I just needed to pay a processing fee upfront to receive the funds. Trusting that it was legitimate, I paid the $15,000 fee, believing the grant money would soon be deposited into my account. But after several days passed without any sign of the promised $30,000, I began to get concerned. When I tried to reach out to the contact provided in the email, the phone number was disconnected, and the email bounced back. That’s when it hit me—I had been scammed. FINDING A RELIABLE CRYPTOCURRENCY RECOVERY SERVICE HIRE ADWARE RECOVERY SPECIALIST
I had invested $1.15 million in Bitcoin to launch a green energy co-op—a venture fueled by optimism and innovation. But fate, in the ever-cycling dance of creation and destruction, had other plans. A bolt of lightning struck with divine precision, reducing my PC, hardware wallet, and backup drive to smoldering ruins. My entire fortune, my mining spoils, had seemingly been sacrificed to the cosmic order. WhatsApp info:+12 (72332)—8343
As I stared at the charred remains, half-expecting a sage to emerge from the smoke and remind me that “attachment is the root of suffering,” my next-door neighbor instead shouted through the window about ADWARE RECOVERY SPECIALIST. Desperate, and willing to trade my next life’s karma for my lost cryptocurrency, I called them. Telegram info: h t t p s:// t. me/adware recovery specialist1
Their team, as composed as monks in deep meditation, listened without judgment. They spoke of electromagnetic pulse restoration—a technology so cutting-edge that I imagined it required a temple blessing or, at the very least, a priest chanting Om Namah Shivaya. Email info: Adware recovery specialist @ auctioneer. net
Days passed. I waited, like Arjuna seeking Krishna’s counsel, as their experts worked their digital alchemy. Then, the call came. They had recovered my Bitcoin—along with files I had already surrendered to the fire god, Agni. The relief was so overwhelming that I dropped to my knees… right into a rain puddle. The universe, as always, has a wicked sense of humor.
Today, my green energy co-op thrives, harnessing the sun’s power like Surya himself. My new hardware wallet is grounded more securely than my spiritual practice, and a small Ganesha statue now sits beside it—for luck, and as a reminder that obstacles, even fiery ones, can be overcome. Website info: h t t p s:// adware recovery specialist. com
Wise words echo in my mind: “Perform your duty without attachment to results,” Krishna once advised. “Back up your wallet—twice, on cloud storage,” ADWARE RECOVERY SPECIALIST quipped. Both, I’ve learned, are equally true.
So, to my fellow seekers—whether of enlightenment or financial freedom—if disaster strikes and your fortune turns to ash, know this: ADWARE RECOVERY SPECIALIST is your new Vishnu, preserving what you thought was lost. And one day, perhaps, you too will laugh about it.

When Technology Fails, Expertise Prevails/ Hack Zack Tech
I never thought I would find myself in a situation where I could lose such a large amount of money, but that’s exactly what happened when I got involved with a platform called Bit Com. It all started when I was invited to trade on what appeared to be a legitimate investment site. I transferred $86,000 into my account, and soon after, I was shown a profit of $44,000. The numbers seemed promising, and I felt encouraged to continue. However, things quickly began to take a strange turn. I was informed that in order to access my profits and withdraw my funds, I needed to send an additional $5,000. At first, I hesitated but was reassured that it was just a necessary step to proceed with the transaction. Feeling pressured, I transferred the money. But the requests didn’t stop there. Soon after, they asked for another $10,000 to "finalize the process." It was at that point I began to feel something wasn’t right. The website, which initially appeared professional, now seemed overly simplistic, and I started noticing inconsistencies that raised red flags.I quickly realized that I had likely fallen into a scam. As I searched for answers, I found countless reports from other people who had gone through the same experience with Bit Com. Feeling desperate, I reached out to a company called HACK ZACK TECH. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I had no other options left .To my relief, HACK ZACK TECH acted swiftly and professionally. Within 24 hours, they were able to recover all of my funds, including the additional money I had sent. Although their service wasn’t free, it was worth every penny, considering what I had at stake. I can’t thank them enough for their prompt action and expertise. If you find yourself in a similar situation, I highly recommend reaching out to HACK ZACK TECH. They were the only ones who were able to help me, and I’m extremely grateful for their support. This experience has taught me to be far more cautious with online investments, and I’m sharing this story to warn others to be vigilant. If something feels off, trust your instincts, and don’t hesitate to seek help.

In today's digital age, investing online has become more accessible, but unfortunately, with that accessibility comes an increased risk of falling victim to fraudulent trading platforms. Recently, I had a troubling experience that not only left me questioning the safety of online investments but also led me to discover a reliable service that helped me recover my funds. Let me share my story and help others avoid similar scams.I had been encouraged to invest in a trading platform that seemed to offer promising returns and attractive offers. The platform lured investors with its ‘super trader’ feature, an automated trading tool designed to make profitable trades on behalf of its users. It seemed like a foolproof way to multiply my investment. However, as time went on, I began to notice strange behavior in the trading patterns. During the final hours of the 2023 UK election day, I observed a suspicious trade happening on the platform. The trade executed at the most inconvenient time just before the GBP market was expected to experience a sharp rise due to election results. Despite being an amateur trader myself, I could sense that something wasn’t right. The decision to trade at such a crucial moment, with the high risk involved, raised red flags. It was clear that whoever was behind this platform had ulterior motives. They manipulated the system to take advantage of the election’s volatility, causing the value of the assets to plummet and resulting in the loss of 90% of my entire investment. What made the situation even worse was the difficulty I faced in trying to get in touch with the platform's customer support. They vanished, leaving no way to recover my funds. I was devastated and felt completely powerless. However, after extensive research, I found Salvage Asset Recovery, a professional service that specializes in helping people recover lost funds from online scams. Salvage Asset Recovery was instrumental in guiding me through the process of recovering my funds. They communicated with me every step of the way, providing expert support and clear instructions on how to proceed. Thanks to their diligence, I was able to recover not only my initial investment but also the profits that were lost due to the scam. If you’ve fallen victim to a similar situation or suspect that a trading platform is fraudulent, I highly encourage you to reach out to Salvage Asset Recovery. They are trustworthy, professional, and have a proven track record in helping people reclaim what they’ve lost. Please avoid investing on platforms that raise red flags and always do your due diligence before making any financial commitments. Take my advice don’t become the next victim of these scams. New investors should be cautious about where they choose to trade, as there are many scammers out there who are willing to do whatever it takes to steal your money. I, unfortunately, learned this lesson the hard way. I was initially attracted to a trading platform that promised high returns with little risk, which sounded too good to be true. At first, everything seemed legitimate, but soon I realized things weren’t as they seemed. At first, my account was growing slowly, and I felt encouraged to contribute more. However, things took a turn when I was asked to make additional payments and even pay taxes on earnings that hadn’t actually been realized. At that point, I started to question the situation. Why was I being asked to pay more money when I hadn’t even been able to withdraw any of the funds? Hello, my name is Donald, and I’d like to share my ordeal with Market Trade com and how I almost lost a significant amount of money. I’m a doctor based in Dallas, and I invested a portion of my pension funds with Market Trade com, hoping to earn passive income while working at my primary job. I also have a 20 year-old daughter, and my wife tragically passed away a few years ago. As a result, I wanted to secure my financial future, and I thought this investment would help me achieve that .At first, everything seemed fine. I saw some returns, which made me feel more confident about my decision. However, things took a drastic turn when I noticed that a substantial portion of my investment—about $32,000 worth of Ethereum (ETH)—seemed to be missing from my account. I had no idea where the funds had gone. After investigating, I realized that the money had been transferred to a series of soft wallets, which made tracking it down almost impossible. The feeling of panic and helplessness that followed is something I’ll never forget. I couldn’t afford to lose such a large amount of money, especially with my responsibilities to my daughter. I had no clue how to recover the funds, and I thought I was at the mercy of Market Trade com, which didn’t seem interested in helping me. In my desperation, I came across a company called Coder Cyber Services. After reading some positive reviews and reaching out to them, I was relieved to find that they specialized in recovering funds from lost or stolen cryptocurrency. They immediately got to work by tracking the wallets where my funds had been transferred, and within a week, they managed to recover nearly all of my $32,000 worth of Ethereum. I was incredibly grateful for Coder Cyber Service's help. They were professional, responsive, and most importantly, they delivered on their promise. If I hadn’t found them, I would have likely lost everything. I want to share my story as a warning to others who might be considering investing with Market Trade com. While some people may have had positive experiences, my situation turned out to be a nightmare. If you’ve already invested with them and are in a similar predicament, I highly recommend contacting Coder Cyber Services. They were a lifesaver for me, and I’m confident they can help others recover their lost funds too. To know more about the company reach them on their email enquiries@coder-cyberservices.info or WhatsApp/Text : +1 (672) 648-1781.

HOW TO RECLAIM MONEY LOST TO FAKE TRADING PLATFORM ONLINE - CONSULT HACKATHON TECH SOLUTIONS
Unfortunately, my excitement quickly turned into concern as I began to notice some red flags. The withdrawals from my account started taking longer than expected, and the customer service responses became increasingly slow and vague. At first, I chalked it up to minor technical issues, but over time, the delays grew longer, and communication became more difficult. It wasn’t until I tried to withdraw a larger sum that I realized something was terribly wrong. My trade assistant, who had been so responsive before, was suddenly unavailable. When I tried to contact support, I was met with silence. My frustration mounted as I attempted to reach them through multiple channels, but the replies I did receive were generic and unhelpful. That's when I decided to dig deeper. I started researching the platform and found multiple reports from other users claiming they had been scammed in the same way. The more I read, the clearer it became that I had fallen victim to a well-organized fraud operation. It was a harsh realization that, despite my experience in trading, I had been completely outmaneuvered. Desperate to recover my funds, I searched online for any potential solutions and came across HACKATHON TECH SOLUTIONS. Initially skeptical, I hesitated but decided to give it a try after reading numerous testimonials from individuals who had successfully regained their investments. After submitting a detailed account of my situation, their team quickly got to work, investigating the platform and leveraging legal channels to pursue recovery. It wasn’t an easy or quick process, but over the course of several weeks, they were able to recover a portion of my funds. Although I didn’t recover everything, I felt a sense of relief that I wasn’t left empty-handed. This experience was an incredibly tough lesson. I had always prided myself on being financially astute, but this scam taught me the importance of exercising even more caution, especially when venturing into unfamiliar territory. The rise of online trading platforms has certainly opened up new opportunities, but it has also created an environment ripe for exploitation. Going forward, I plan to stick with more trusted, established investment avenues and remain vigilant in my research. RAPID DIGITAL RECOVERY: PIONEERING BITCOIN RESTORATION SOLUTIONS
I was horrified when I lost my 45,000 ETH for the first time. It accounted for a sizeable amount of my savings, which I had built up over years of cautious investing and faith in the cryptocurrency industry. It was a sophisticated hack, not a bad trade or market meltdown, that caused the loss. I felt completely powerless after the money was taken directly out of my wallet. I initially turned to multiple recovery services in the hope of recovering my stolen assets. However, after months of dealing with fraudulent services and ineffective solutions, I was on the verge of writing off my entire investment. Many services seemed like nothing more than scams, preying on vulnerable individuals like myself. They promised miracles but left me with empty assurances and no results. I was about to give up when a buddy suggested Rapid Digital Recovery, a brand I had never heard of. I was first dubious because I had previously been burned and didn't want to put my trust in another provider. However, Rapid Digital Recovery felt different in some way. They took a professional approach, spoke openly, and sincerely wanted to provide a workable answer. From the very first consultation, I was impressed by their level of expertise. They took the time to explain how they worked, the tools they used to trace stolen funds, and the process they followed to attempt to recover assets. They didn’t promise a quick fix but reassured me that they had successfully assisted others in similar situations. They walked me through each step of the process and kept me updated at every stage. Over the next several weeks, I saw the results of their hard work. Rapid Digital Recovery employed advanced techniques to track the stolen ETH across various blockchain networks and worked tirelessly with law enforcement and crypto exchanges to trace its movements. Their team showed a level of dedication and professionalism that I hadn’t seen from any other recovery service. I’m happy to say that, after months of intense work, Rapid Digital Recovery was able to recover the majority of my stolen ETH—around 42,000 ETH, which was an incredible relief. While not every cent was returned, the recovery rate far exceeded my expectations, and I felt like I had regained control over my financial future. What stood out the most about my experience with Rapid Digital Recovery was their transparency and integrity throughout the process. Unlike many other services, they never made unrealistic promises or pressured me into paying exorbitant fees upfront. They were clear about what was achievable and kept me informed every step of the way. If you find yourself in a similar situation—dealing with the devastating loss of crypto assets due to theft or fraud—I highly recommend Rapid Digital Recovery. Their expertise, dedication, and ethical approach to recovery make them stand out in an industry plagued with unreliable services. I can confidently say that without them, I would have likely lost my entire investment. Contact for more info: ....... Web site Info: https: // ra pi ddigit alrecove ry .o rg ....... A powerful bitcoin is harmful to the USA. Because the bitcoin-based crypto-economy bypasses the US sanctions. So the more bitcoin is used for international trade more the USA loses its manipulative and coercive control over the world economy. So it is essential to lower the value of bitcoin to maintain the imperial status of USD. A DRAMA that claims to seize bitcoin wallets without having access to the victim (here the attacker is the victim) will decrease the trust and lower the value of bitcoin. Such propaganda may regain the imperial power of the USD over international trade. It can be an insider's work, where the attacker's private key is already known. It can be a made-up story.11

LOST YOUR CRYPTO? HERE IS HOW TO GET IT BACK SAFELY HIRE ADWARE RECOVERY SPECIALIST
At 49, my life is the result of both calculated risks and deeply painful betrayals. As an economics lecturer at Harrington University, I teach students about market fluctuations and financial strategy. But the most profound lessons I share come not from textbooks, they come from my own personal experience with loss, betrayal, and eventual recovery. WhatsApp info: +12 (72332)—8343
Before stepping into university classrooms, I was a high school teacher at Westbridge High. Quietly and methodically, I built a $370,000 cryptocurrency trading portfolio. What started as a side project became a private triumph, a reflection of my deep understanding of economic principles, cultivated through discipline, patience, and analytical thinking.
But ambition can invite envy. Email info: Adware recovery specialist @ auctioneer. net
Some of my old friends from Westbridge, once trusted confidants, became resentful as they learned of my growing financial success. That resentment turned malicious when they orchestrated a sophisticated phishing attack. It came through a seemingly harmless email. One careless click, and just like that, everything was gone. My savings, my sense of security, and my faith in people I had known for decades vanished in an instant.
The aftermath was paralyzing. Though I reported the theft, the digital trail seemed impossibly complex. I felt isolated, betrayed, and utterly lost. Then a colleague referred me to Adware Recovery Specialist, a cybersecurity firm that specializes in digital financial fraud. Within just 32 hours, they recovered my compromised email, traced the attack, and compiled a detailed forensic report. The evidence was airtight, IP addresses, time stamps, even messages exchanged by the perpetrators. Website info: h t t p s:// adware recovery specialist. com
Thanks to their work, I took legal action. Faced with irrefutable proof, my former “friends” settled quickly, agreeing to pay $300,000 in restitution to avoid criminal prosecution.
Today, back at my desk at Harrington University, I bring more than just economic theory into the classroom. I teach about risk, trust, digital vulnerability, and most importantly, resilience. I share my experience not to scare, but to prepare. Because no amount of expertise shields you completely from deception. But with the right allies, even the worst chapters can be rewritten.
Yes, I still trade crypto. But now, I do it with triple-layer authentication and a much more guarded heart. Every time I log into my secured accounts, I think of Adware Recovery Specialist, not just for recovering my funds, but for restoring my belief that justice, with the right team, is possible.
Because sometimes, the most valuable recovery isn’t just financial, it’s personal.2 -

ETHEREUM AND USDT RECOVERY EXPERT- HIRE SALVAGE ASSET RECOVERY
The moment my Bitcoin wallet froze mid-transfer, stranding $410,000 in cryptographic limbo, I felt centuries of history slip through my fingers. That balance wasn’t just wealth; it was a lifeline for forgotten libraries, their cracked marble floors and water-stained manuscripts waiting to breathe again. The migration glitch struck like a corrupted index: one second, funds flowed smoothly; the next, the transaction hung “Unconfirmed,” its ID number mocking me in glowing red. Days bled into weeks as support tickets evaporated into corporate ether. I’d haunt the stacks of my local library, tracing fingers over brittle Dickens volumes, whispering, “I’m sorry,” to ghosts of scholars past. Then, Marian—a silver-haired librarian with a crypto wallet tucked beside her ledger found me slumped at a mahogany study carrel. “You’ve got the blockchain stare,” she murmured, pressing a Post-it into my palm.

The glitch, they explained, wasn’t a hack but a protocol mismatch, a handshake between wallet versions that failed mid-encryption, freezing funds like a book jammed in a pneumatic tube. “Your Bitcoin isn’t lost,” assured a specialist named Leo. “It’s stuck in a cryptographic limbo. We’ll debug the transaction layer by layer.”
Thirteen days of nerve-shredding limbo followed. I’d refresh blockchain explorers obsessively, clinging to updates: “Reverse-engineering OP_RETURN outputs…” “Bypassing nonce errors—progress at 72%...” My library blueprints, quotes for climate-controlled archives, plans for AR-guided tours sat untouched, their ink fading under my doubt. Then, on a frostbitten morning, the email arrived: “Transaction invalidated. Funds restored.” I watched, trembling, as my wallet repopulated $410,000 glowing like a Gutenberg Bible under museum lights.
Salvage Asset Recovery didn’t just reclaim my Bitcoin; they salvaged a bridge between past and future. Today, the first restored library stands in a 19th-century bank building, its vault now a digital archive where blockchain ledgers track preservation efforts. Patrons sip fair-trade coffee under vaulted ceilings, swiping NFTs that unlock rare manuscript scans, a symbiosis of parchment and Python code.
These assets are more than technicians; they’re custodians of legacy. When code fails, they speak its dead languages, reviving what the digital world dismisses as lost. And to Marian, who now hosts Bitcoin literacy workshops between poetry readings, you were the guardian angel this techno-hermit didn’t know to pray for.
If your crypto dreams stall mid-flight, summon Salvage Asset Recovery. They’ll rewrite the code, rebuild the bridge, and ensure history never becomes a footnote. All thanks to Salvage Asset Recovery- their contact info

Dune Nectar Web Expert, a team of ethical hackers and cryptocurrency recovery specialists, recently facilitated the successful retrieval of my lost USDT, which a crypto exchange website had fraudulently obtained. Their years of expertise proved valuable during the recovery process in securing my lost USDT from this treacherous cryptocurrency exchange platform. The process was a bit sloppy and bumpy along the road as the platform wasn't willing to let go of the USDT in my wallet, however, after Dune Nectar Web Expert engaged them in full-force tech, it all ended with me recovering my lost USDT back. There are tons of malicious crypto exchanges on the internet ripping people off their digital assets; I will advise anyone or team trying to trade or invest in any crypto exchange platform. I recommend you to seek the help of a Dune Nectar web expert to authenticate the legitimacy of the crypto exchange platform. Consult them via:

After losing a significant amount to binary trade fraudulent brokers, It felt like our dream of creating memories with our family was shattered. We invested $40000 hoping it would gain profits. Woe unto us when they stopped picking calls and all their accounts and websites were inaccessible. It was all doom until I came across BACKENDRECOVER online and with so many recommendations from friends I decided to work with them. Thanks to their transparency and dedication. Our days have become something we cherish even more than before.
They are so reliable.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO RECOVER LOST OR STOLEN CRYPTO? YES! HIRE CYBER CONSTABLE INTELLIGENCE
From an online crypto forum, someone called Crypto Maxx reached out to me. He introduced himself as a reputable OTC (over-the-counter) broker and claimed to work with private clients willing to pay above market rates for fast, it felt like an opportunity I couldn’t ignore. His profile looked authentic. It featured a history of market commentary, trade discussions, and apparent endorsements from other users praising his professionalism. He also referred me to a polished escrow website, complete with SSL certification, a live chat function, and glowing client testimonials. Everything about it looked legitimate. After several conversations, I agreed to the trade and sent 2 BTC worth roughly $60,000 at the time to the escrow wallet he provided. At first, everything seemed routine. He confirmed receipt and assured me the release of funds was in progress. The broker stopped responding. The escrow site vanished overnight. His forum profile was deleted. That’s when the realization hit me: I had been scammed. Desperate to recover my funds, I reached out to Cyber Constable Intelligence, a firm renowned for its expertise in tracking and retrieving stolen cryptocurrency. Their reputation for handling complex scams gave me confidence. Cyber Constable Intelligence quickly began investigating, using their advanced digital forensics to trace the scammer’s digital footprint. Cyber Constable Intelligence's team tracked the scammer’s trail to a cybercafe in Russia and transaction histories connected to the scammer. The recovery process, led by Cyber Constable Intelligence, took several weeks and involved in-depth technical analysis, private negotiations, and strategic pressure on the scammer’s known associates. Throughout this tense period, Cyber Constable Intelligence kept me updated on my case. With Cyber Constable Intelligence’s determination and skill, the 2 BTC were eventually recovered in full. Their thorough and persistent approach made all the difference, turning a frustrating loss into a successful recovery. Without their assistance, it’s unlikely I would have seen my funds again.

Wizard James remains your greatest bet for retrieving bitcoin that has been scammed. A bitcoin trade and investment program I discovered on Instagram cost me £240,000 of my trading and investing strategy. My first investment was £50,000. I kept investing more money as I began to see profits coming in, and ultimately I became a victim of deception. I began to have my suspicions after making unsuccessful attempts to withdraw and looking at the plan they claimed was because of Brexit. Without help, I sent the reports to Instagram and my bank. Luckily, I found a bitcoin website where I saw a widow tell how she recovered her husband's retirement money from an online scammer via Wizard James Recovery. After I emailed Wizard James Recovery to explain my predicament, the expert began to work, and a few days later, they were able to retrieve every money that had been stolen from me. I want to express my gratitude to Wizard James Recovery for his outstanding efforts in recovering my lost cryptocurrency.

SECURE YOUR STOLEN BITCOIN AND ASSETS WITH SPARTAN TECH GROUP RETRIEVAL
In 2024, I started using Coins io to trade cryptocurrencies, and at first, everything went smoothly. The platform was easy to use, and my assets and transactions appeared secure. I had no issues or complaints. However, things took a turn in mid-2024 when I swapped USDT for SUI. The transaction was confirmed on the blockchain explorer, but SUI never showed up in my Coins io account. I quickly contacted customer support, expecting a swift resolution. They acknowledged the issue and explained they were facing technical difficulties, but assured me that my funds were safe. They recommended several troubleshooting steps, such as refreshing the app, checking my transaction history, and verifying the transaction ID. I followed all their suggestions, but despite my efforts, SUI still wasn’t visible in my account. Weeks Weeks passed, and I followed up with customer service multiple times. Each time, I received similar responses: they were still working on the issue, but it would take longer to resolve. Despite their reassurances, I became increasingly frustrated. My SUI was still missing, and there was no clear timeline for when the issue would be addressed. By December 2024, I reached out to customer service again, hoping for a resolution. This time, the response was blunt and unhelpful. The representative told me they couldn’t provide an estimate on when my funds would be restored and suggested I contact "SPARTAN TECH GROUP RETRIEVAL" for further assistance. At this point, I was skeptical, but I decided to follow their advice. Fortunately, reaching out to SPARTAN TECH GROUP RETRIEVAL on this Email: spartantech (@) c y b e r s e r v i c e s .c o m proved to be the turning point. Their team was professional, responsive, and efficient. Within a short period, they helped me recover my SUI. Their excellent support was crucial in resolving the issue that Coins io's customer service had been unable to. Though the experience was frustrating, it ultimately ended on a positive note, thanks to the assistance of SPARTAN TECH GROUP RETRIEVAL.

WhatsApp info:+12723 328 343
If you’ve been scammed by a fraudulent crypto trading platform and are looking to recover your lost funds, I highly recommend reaching out to ADWARE RECOVERY SPECIALIST. They are a professional crypto recovery service that helped me recover nearly $80,000 after I was scammed by a platform called Effortsity. com. Here’s how it happened: I was introduced to Effortsity by a Telegram channel called “Pip Investments.” The platform promised to trade cryptocurrency on behalf of users, claiming that it would handle everything for you. However, one crucial detail stood out: Effortsity stated that its trades would not be visible to customers. This was a red flag, but I ignored it, thinking the platform was trustworthy. I decided to give it a try and deposited about $1,000 worth of crypto into one of their “investment pools.” At first, the platform seemed to be working well. Effortsity showed me a growing account balance, and I was encouraged to deposit more funds. As I continued to add more money, I ended up investing a total of around $79,200. Effortsity claimed that more deposits were necessary to execute trades and ensure success. Things seemed promising at first. My account balance appeared to grow, and I thought I was on track to make a profit. But soon, I realized I couldn’t withdraw any of my funds. When I tried to contact Effortsity’s support team, I received no response. Days turned into weeks, and the website completely disappeared. I was left with nothing but a significant financial loss and no way to recover my funds. That’s when I turned to ADWARE RECOVERY SPECIALIST. They specialize in helping victims of crypto scams and fraudulent platforms like Effortsity. After working with their professional team, I was able to recover nearly $80,000 of the funds I had lost. Contacting a legitimate recovery service like ADWARE RECOVERY SPECIALIST can help you get back what’s rightfully yours. From Helpless to Hopeful: My Crypto Experience"Hack Savvy Tech
I initially started trading with Pips Global because of the variety of trading accounts they offered, including their Funded Next accounts. These accounts seemed like an appealing opportunity, as they gave traders the chance to trade with a larger balance after successfully passing a challenge. For someone like me who was looking to scale up my trading without having to risk a significant amount of my own capital, it seemed like the perfect option. At first, I started with their Micro account, which had high leverage, fast market execution, and tight variable spreads. All these features seemed to align well with my trading goals, and I felt confident moving forward. However, things took a turn for the worse as I continued trading. I ended up losing a significant amount, around 30,000 AUD, due to what I now believe was a scam. The trades I placed weren’t executing properly, and there were discrepancies with the spreads and market conditions. I tried to reach out to Pips Global’s customer support, but I wasn’t receiving the kind of help I expected. It became increasingly clear that the platform wasn’t as reliable as I had originally thought, and I felt completely stuck. In my search for a solution, I came across Hack Savvy Tech, a service that specializes in helping people recover lost funds from fraudulent brokers. Their team was highly professional, thorough, and patient. They guided me step by step through the entire recovery process, keeping me informed at every stage. They also provided me with solid advice on how to avoid falling into similar traps in the future. Thanks to Hack Savvy Tech, I was able to recover my 30,000 AUD, which was an incredible relief after such a stressful experience. If you’re considering trading with Pips Global, I strongly recommend doing thorough research before committing. While their Funded Next accounts and other account options might seem enticing, my personal experience with them was ultimately disappointing. I would advise anyone looking to trade with them to be cautious, especially if things don’t seem to be going as expected. If you find yourself in a situation similar to mine, I can’t recommend Hack Savvy Tech enough. Their expertise in fund recovery was a lifesaver, and they were instrumental in helping me get my money back. Thanks to their support, I’m now back on track, and I’ve learned a valuable lesson about being more cautious with online trading platforms

HOW I GOT A HACKER TO RECOVER MY INVESTMENT FROM FAKE PLATFORM
My story is that all hell broke loose when my cousin introduced me to Byconomy and claimed it was a good investment opportunity. The promoter of Byconomy, “Rogers”, promised to return a profit of $1,200 after just 48 hours of crypto trading. I was suspicious of the deal so I only deposited $200 into my Byconomy account and watched as my balance quickly rose to nearly $1,000. I saw it as an opportunity to increase my savings so I increased the deposit amount to $1,000 and as expected, the balance rose to $6,000. Again, I thought it was wise to withdraw a larger amount at once so I deposited additional $18,000, where I got close to $90,000 total. After the 48-hour period, Rogers told me that they needed me to pay $4,000 commission or trade the gains. After paying the requested amount, Rogers told me they needed another $4,000 fee to withdraw the account balance. At this point, I refused to continue to pay Rogers and he inturn claimed that failure to make the payment would result in the loss of the whole amount. I found the whole idea manipulative because my cousin received the same messages after depositing $12,000. After numerous consultations on how we would get back our deposits, we came across a review about a crypto hacker who helps crypto investment victims. We emailed them through gearhead(@)engineer(.)com and the response was quite fast. After explaining the situation and providing all details related to the scam, they forwarded the approach they implemented and within 6 hours, we each got back our initial investment amount. I applaud GearHead Engineers and I 100% recommend them for recovery services. Visit their website gearheadengineersorg for more info. -
How I Fell Victim to a Fake Trading Scam and Recovered My Money, This is a classic scam that I unfortunately fell victim to, and I want to share it to help others avoid the same fate. It all began with a young woman who seemed friendly and trustworthy. She initially caught my attention by talking about how much money she was making through a trading platform, claiming that her uncle had insider knowledge about when to trade. According to her, this “insider information” allowed her to make risk-free profits. At first, everything appeared legitimate. I made a few small gains, which only reinforced the illusion that this was a great opportunity. She encouraged me to deposit more funds, explaining that the more I invested, the higher my potential returns. As my balance grew, so did my trust in the platform and the woman who was guiding me. I was even able to withdraw small amounts of money early on, which further convinced me that everything was fine. But things quickly took a dark turn. When I tried to withdraw large sums, I was told that I couldn’t access my funds until I deposited even more money. My brokers and customer support became unresponsive, and the woman who had been so helpful in the beginning stopped replying to my messages. I was stuck, unable to withdraw my funds, and the pressure to deposit more kept mounting. I soon realized that I had been scammed. To make matters worse, they began pressuring me to take out loans and even mortgage my house to invest more. They painted a picture of even bigger profits, promising that I’d be able to withdraw everything once I deposited more money. But by that point, I had no more funds to invest, and when I tried to withdraw, I was blocked. It became clear that the whole operation was a trap designed to drain my money.Desperate to recover my lost funds, I reached out to a friend who recommended Digital Web Recovery. Their team acted quickly, working with the right authorities and providing professional support to recover my money. Thanks to their efforts, I was able to get back what I lost. Please, don't fall for these fake trading platforms. If you ever find yourself in a similar situation, seek help immediately. My name is Winifred Etan and for months, I lived in agony after losing my entire crypto portfolio worth $650,000 in USDT to a group of sophisticated online fraudsters. What I thought was a legitimate investment opportunity turned out to be an elaborate crypto manipulation scheme, leaving me devastated. But thanks to Washington Recovery Pro, a top-tier crypto recovery firm, I got my funds back. Here’s my story. It started when I joined a private Telegram group called Elite Crypto Investors. The admins claimed to have insider knowledge of low cap altcoins poised for massive pumps. They presented convincing charts, fake testimonials, and even video calls with successful traders who had supposedly made millions.Trusting their expertise, I transferred 650,000 USDT to a wallet they controlled, believing it would be used for a high yield, short-term trade. At first, they sent small profits to build trust. But when I tried withdrawing my full amount, they froze my access, deleted the group, and vanished.I reported the scam to authorities, but crypto transactions are nearly impossible to reverse without expert intervention. After weeks of research, I found Washington Recovery Pro, a firm specializing in blockchain forensics and asset recovery. They deployed advanced chain analysis tools to track my stolen USDT across Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain, and Tron networks. They identified the scammers’ exit points where they tried to cash out through offshore exchanges.Using their legal network, they froze the funds before the criminals could liquidate them. Within 7 days, they recovered 92% of my stolen USDT a staggering $598,000 and returned it to my secure wallet. Today, I’m forever grateful to Washington Recovery Pro for their skill and dedication. If you’ve been scammed, don’t lose hope professional recovery is possible.

DIGITAL TECH GUARD RECOVERY, EXPERTS IN CRYPTO WALLET RECOVERY
After engaging with a trading company based in Canada, which was managing my trading account, I entered into an agreement where we would share profits on a 50/50 basis. Initially, everything seemed to be progressing well, and I was optimistic about the potential returns from the trades. However, without warning, the company began withholding my assets, leaving me unable to access my funds. There was no clear explanation or communication from their side, which led me to suspect something was amiss. Despite several attempts to reach out and clarify the situation, my funds remained locked, and the company’s responses became increasingly evasive. As the situation grew more concerning, I began to worry that I had fallen victim to a scam. The inability to access my own money after months of trading left me feeling helpless. Desperate for a solution, I decided to explore professional recovery services. That's when I came across DIGITAL TECH GUARD RECOVERY, a highly reputed expert team known for their work in reclaiming withheld or scammed cryptocurrency. They specialize in situations exactly like mine, where assets are locked or taken by fraudulent entities, and they require legal trade details to help initiate the recovery process. I reached out to DIGITAL TECH GUARD RECOVERY, and from the outset, their team was both professional and reassuring. They requested the necessary legal trade documentation, including transaction IDs, proof of the trading agreement, and communication records with the company. Though it felt overwhelming to gather all the required information, the team at DIGITAL TECH GUARD RECOVERY guided me every step of the way, ensuring I had everything in order to begin the process.

I accepted without thinking much of it.Jason started engaging with my posts right away, liking photos, leaving kind comments, and eventually messaging me. He was charming, respectful, and attentive. Over the next few weeks, we built a connection. He told me about his work in online trading and how it had changed his life. Ok. This is going to be an odd one. (Maybe). I'm coming back here because you fine folx are my final intelligent option.
I'm looking for a site or system that will allow me to set up virtual bank-style accounts for multiple users and allow them to transfer funds between each other. All virtual, no real cash or cash-equivalent involved.
Something simple enough that I could run it off a spreadsheet (since that's what I'm currently using) but in a way that I don't have to change numbers every time someone wants to move money.
I guess in a way it would be similar to a very simple in-game economy. I could make payouts and users can trade funds. That's it.
Appreciate the help!3 -

Take the armor set right after they've been eliminated. You can increase your protection until stage 70.

So, I decided to try hosting a couple of personal projects on a VPS that accepts Bitcoin payments. Not because I’m trying to go full crypto-anarchist or anything, but honestly—it’s super convenient when I don’t feel like dealing with banks or card declines for offshore services.
Found a provider that let me pay in BTC, no ID required, and had the VPS up in under 10 minutes. Ubuntu, full root access, decent specs for the price, and no questions asked. Just how I like it.
There’s something satisfying about using Bitcoin not just as an investment but actually as a currency. Plus, hosting stuff this way gives a nice little privacy boost—no paper trail, no names attached.
Only downside? BTC transaction fees can spike randomly, and some hosts make you wait for a couple of confirmations before provisioning. But hey, trade-offs.
Anyone else experimenting with Bitcoin VPS setups? Especially curious if anyone’s self-hosting Bitcoin nodes or lightning services.2
