Big congrats to @AlexDeLarge for being the first devRant member to hit 50,000 ++!
A pretty awesome accomplishment highlighting great contributions and content.71 -
Huge congrats to @linuxxx for being the first ever member of the devRant community to reach 100,000++
This is an awesome accomplishment and @linuxxx earned all of his ++ with awesome stories and has represented everything the devRant community is about while getting there.
So once again, congrats @linuxxx, and thanks for everything you have contributed to devRant!52 -
Hey everyone,
Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates, happy holidays to everyone, and happy almost-new-year!
Tim and I wanted to reflect on the year devRant has had, and looking back, there are a lot of awesome things that happened in 2018 that we are very thankful for. Here are just a few of the ones that we thought of (this list is not exhaustive and I'm definitley forgetting stuff, so please comment about those!):
- After nearly a year in the making, the completely overhauled devRant web version was launched (https://devrant.com/rants/1255714/...)
- @linuxxx became the first devRant user to hit 100,000++! (https://devrant.com/rants/1157415/...)
- We once again pulled off the greatest April fools joke everrrr (https://devrant.com/rants/1311206/...)
- @trogus started making awesome devComics and http://devcomics.com was launched
- We added a feature to allow rant filtering by post type (https://devrant.com/rants/1354275/...)
- We made it so avatars could have expressions! (https://devrant.com/rants/1563683/...)
- We had a booth at TechDay New York and got to meet some devRant users! (https://devrant.com/rants/1394067/...)
- We made major backend architectural improvements - including spinning up a special high-powered-CPU web server to handle avatar creation and make the creation process much faster (https://devrant.com/rants/1370938/...)
- App stability: mainly Android - we fixed crashes, did a push-notif overhaul, and tried to continue making the apps better and more stable
- A record amount of devRant meetups were held, and we couldn't be more proud about that, and we thank every person who organized one! (just a few: https://devrant.com/rants/1588218/... https://devrant.com/rants/1884724/... https://devrant.com/rants/1683365/... https://devrant.com/rants/1922950/...)
We had a busy year, and despite some things going on for us personally and some setbacks around those, we think this was a very productve year for devRant and that we are going in the right direction. We're continuing to constantly evaluate feedback from members of the community to decide where to take the app next. We're fully committed to improving the devRant community in 2019 and we have a lot of ideas about how we can do that. We're working on some things, but we're not really announcing them yet, so please sit tight for those :) In the meantime, feel free to let us know what you'd like to see improved/added the most as we always like to get updated feedback from the community.
As always, thank you everyone, and thanks for your amazing contributions to the devRant community!
Looking forward to 2019,
- David and Tim26 -
We're excited to announce the first devRant-sponsored hackathon! It features everything we could have dreamed of in a hackathon: huge prizes ($10k to first place and others), an awesome beer-themed dev competition from lead sponsor Anheuser-Busch, lots of free beer, and an awesome setting at Alley in Chelsea NYC (devRant's hometown, we'll be there!)
It's taking place right here in NYC from March 25-26 and @trogus and I will be there and we really hope we can hang out with members of the devRant community who are participating. devRant is an official partner of the hackathon and we're very excited about the competition itself. There are two challenges teams can pick from: "Internet of Things" (Raspberry Pi’s, Arduinos, etc.) and "Data Insights" - both with the goal of finding creative solutions/innovations to help people drink more beer!
Tim and I look forward to hopefully seeing many of you there. Full details and registration here: https://hacktheworld.beer/NYCHackat...
Please let us know if you have any questions and let's hack some beer!
P.S. the hackathon is 21 years and older only because of the beer theme46 -
devRant meetup in the Netherlands yesterday was awesome! Hereby a group picture we took.
Thanks for the amazing evening, people!51 -
A little ago, a devRant user drew something awesome (fantasy stylish) of another devRanter.
I said in the comments that I'd kill for a drawing of my own character!
A day later I got a mention. He'd drawn my character!
Thanks a lot @ichijou! I find it awesome, it's in a frame on my wall now :D30 -
Told my colleagues about devRant and they laughed it off saying that it's just 'another app'.
Fuck them.10 -
Dutch DevRant meeting was awesome! Talked a lot, had quite some drinks, had pizza and just fun in general!
At least one selfie was required imo so here it is :). Of course, we had to include Devy ;).
Also overlooked a comment from someone wanting their face censored so took the old post down and hereby an edited version.112 -
Friend: so what is this app I always see you using on your phone?
Me: devRant, it's for developers! it gives us the chance to share rants!
Friend: Wow awesome!!! so what do you guys discuss, interesting stuff huh?
Me: Spaces.... spaces vs tabs.25 -
Stopped using Facebook.
..
Stopped using Instagram.
..
Started reading rants on devRant.
..
Life is awesome ♥️13 -
Just taking a moment to appreciate devRant
Thank you for being there and for creating this awesome community (and thanks to all the peoples of this community)
:)2 -
Normal devRant user:
- Look, the algo it's awesome, it matches similar content posts, it's so funny!
Meanwhile at devRant Headquarters:
trogus: When are you telling them?
dfox: Ignorance is bliss, my friend
trogus: Well, at least we know the random number generator it's not coded by Sony though, otherwise they would suspect10 -
We used to do this more often - but to kind of bring it back - what is everyone working on this weekend?
I’m working on some new API endpoints for the awesome new devRant web version that @trogus made that we’re releasing soon.
Share your weekend project!108 -
Starting to feel that devRant is a really nice place to hang out.
Even though we have differences in languages (C#, PHP, JavaScript, JAVA), culture (semi brackets, tabs and spaces) and tools (Sublime, vim, nano, Atom) but we strive to be a better coder by encouraging one another or ranting to blow some steam.
Like seriously guys, you guys are awesome! It feels that I am becoming more human by visiting devRant (or maybe I'm turning into AI).12 -
A few days ago I reached my two years anniversary of being on devRant.
It's been an awesome ride, thanks everybody and also the creators of this awesome place 😃12 -
My wife: Stickers?? Why the hell you got stickers, from who?
Me: From devRant, I told you about that cool community of devs some days ago...
She: NEEEEERRRRRD!
I take it as a compliment 😂6 -
devRant has over 30k users within 1 year. Congratulations @dfox @trogus and awesome work. I would also like to thank my boss, project managers, colleagues and clients. They are the biggest contributors in devRant. lolz...1
-
devRant, you've missed the opportunity to swap desk ducks for little humans. Still awesome idea though.6
-
!rant
1. Person who passionately disagrees with you ++'d your comment!
2. Person who gets a response with a counter argument says "I had not looked at it from that angle before" instead of "That's mainstream propaganda, I hope you die of cancer"
Just two reasons why this community is amazing.
You actively inspire me to be a bit more sweet than bitter on the internet.10 -
It's my first day here and I LOVE this place. Everyone is so awesome and helpful and smart! Thanks for making me feel at home! <311
-
I'm impressed about how everyones english among DevRant is nearly flawless - it's users are based all around the globe and still, I know nobody in real life who is even near fluent in speaking English (fellow German potatoes will probably know that feel)
Awesome! 😀28 -
devRant UWP client
3 years, 65 updates, 1.507 commits.
3 users donated a total of €16.97 (~€10.91 after Microsoft's fee), not enough for a payout, so I would say €0.
But it was still worth it, awesome community.9 -
The fact that my wife thinks Devrant is lame is for me more confirmation that Devrant is the only social network for me worth spending time on. Thanks @dfox for making the world a better place for developers.2
-
Just hit 500, exactly at my birthday!
DevRant is the most amazing community I've used to belong to. You guys are awesome!16 -
love this app.
love the new algo.
love this community.
oh... rant? this is a place to rant?
fml.
tabs. or spaces? tabs! tabs.8 -
Hello world! I'm new here. Discovered devRant randomly and I'm so happy I did 😊 Problem is, I can't seem to get any work done now that I'm reading rants all day long 🙃10
-
It would be really awesome if devRant would send us a rubber duck if our rant gets more than 1000++ 😝😝18
-
Isn't it funny that an app whose literal express purpose is to whine an complain has turned out to be one of the nicest around?3
-
Devrant is the reason I left Facebook. Why be with those shitty people when you have community of your own kind!9
-
The hour before i downloaded devRant i was a 9gager. Now i think i am devRanter.
Thanks dfox and trogus and all awesome people in this community. I am a fresh meat in dev world and here i learn so much things about real world i cant learn in anywhere. Cheers if you are reading.15 -
"What the hell, you got some custom tuning package?"
No man, it's called DevRant, it's awesome, spread the love!12 -
devRant was featured in a really awesome article on TNW (The Next Web). Please check it out and share it around. Thanks! http://thenextweb.com/apps/2016/...6
-
Ok so cowsay itself is already a pretty awesome thing and combined with lolcat it just gets better.
Another awesome and cool thing is devRant and so I thought: 'Hey, why not combine these awesome things into an even more awesome thing?'
Here it is:
(I will open source the python file tomorrow :D, it is just 10 lines actually)
Please tell me if you have any more ideas! :)5 -
The presentation with @wiardvanrij was awesome! Didn't have much time to talk but we did socialize a little and I got myself a devRant shirt, mousemat, ducky and some stickers from a box of devRant merch 😊
Today was great!21 -
Just bumped into this app on Play Store yesterday.
I've never really felt so addicted to any social network before.
I can't seem to put my phone down. And if I do, I find myself coming back to it!9 -
Dutch DevRant meeting was awesome!
Since quite some people couldn't do it today i also suggested to do a second day, tomorrow.
Just haven't gotten any response yet at all, so anyone in for that? If yes, sounds awesome, if no, no hurt feelings :)17 -
So much swag arrived in the mail today.
It's funny how I end up paying for more stuff from a free app than from one of those freemium games that are so popular right now.5 -
I haven't met many people through programming but I've met many friends through devRant but certainly also through being a Linux (server) enthusiast.
At study I found some good Linux guys and now through devRant I've gotten some awesome linuxers and privacy/security like minded people who I definitely see as great friends!
Also I find it awesome that I can actually teach people stuffs that I love researching about/ doing myself!9 -
I'm really proud of the devRant community, it seems to be the only one not completely overrun and ruined by people fighting about the election. Stay awesome everyone!7
-
>browsing through devRant older members
>found @linuxxx
>he got a tiger on his avatar
This community is dope af18 -
I have been asked to teach a few things for newbies at work, without coding background.
I used the metaphore of pizza, empty pizzabox and no box for teaching NULL. I have read it here on Devrant, written by someone awesome of the community here.
My boss overheard me explaining it, and said that that was the most beautifull expanation of NULL he ever heard.
.......I was like: yaaay Devrant FTW!
Also newbies understood it instantly so kudos to you sir, original poster!2 -
// TODO create awesome rants here to entertain other devs to earn lot of upvotes to get a devRant stressball5
-
Yesterday way my one year devRant anniversary! It's been a good year guys and gals (and whatever genders are out here). I can't be bothered to look up rant counts etc right now because I'm in the middle of my exams and I'm fucking exhausted but a bit thanks to trogus and dfox for creating this awesome platform and also a big shoutout to all the awesome people I met through here and have good contact with :). Keep rocking, devs!2
-
Using devRant.
I have learnt a lot from everyone. I didn't even realise before that being a dev can be sooo awesome.
Thanks @dfox, @trogus.2 -
Congrats to localhost for being the second devRant user ever to reach 1,000 points! I've greatly enjoyed his awesome posts and I know a ton of other people have too! Thanks for the laughs/great convo and I'm looking forward to an NYC meetup in May :)4
-
One of the things that make devRant special is it's multicultural nature. Every time I see a photo, it is from another country and even with such different people, we all relate to the same things and that is, my friends, fucking dope. No other social network is like this. Props to devRant!2
-
I'm one of those people who have literally no value of education and skills between family members, yes as soon they hear I'm doing bachelors in computers they all come too me with *Can you please fix my phone*
But today a letter came it was from devRant and it had stickers for me, my uncle received the letter and you can't imagine how surprised he was and asked me who sent me letter from NY, I explained him that we are an awesome community and this letter is just a way to motivate us. It's the first time something come for me and even tho it's just some stickers but meant alot to me.
Thankyou devRant and the community for making me feel this awesome 😊7 -
@dfox How about a Devrant t-shirt feature?
Where you can enter the id of your favorite rant. Then it just prints the t-shirt with the Devrant logo and the text from the rant.
Would be awesome!4 -
Devrant - rendered on the worlds first web browser (WorldWIdeWeb). 🤓
Some awesome guys over at Cern have rebuilt it entirely in JavaScript!
Check it out here -> https://worldwideweb.cern.ch/4 -
Coolest thing about platforms like devrant, is that it's so easy to get people to read what you have to say, and get them to notice you.
It doesn't matter if you have a nice profile picture, have a lot of friends/followers or anything like that.
The content is what matters.
Also, its not like everything here is developer related or is super nerdy, most of the stuff you see are normal things you'd expect people to post on things like Facebook when they want to be social and connect with people.
It's sad that this is not how most social media is done.7 -
twitter: good job, let's promote your profile, but you have to pay us.
devrant: awesome job being involved, here some stickers!
found a much better community3 -
The best part you see, is that no one here will think of you as a nerd.
It's like safe haven for programmers/developers.5 -
Despite having a chance of being jobless for a bit I thought I'd show my support because devrant is awesome5
-
My first few hours on DevRant were awesome !
I got 66+s in my first 6 hrs. I like how open and welcoming the community is.
Also I like the Devrant system, where every user gets a good exposure.
Hoping for a good time here :)3 -
A huge congrats and thanks to trostik for being the first devRant user ever to hit 1,000 points! He has provided countless laughs through his awesome posts and memes and was one of the earliest devRant users. Cheers buddy 🍻 (real beers if you're ever in the U.S. or we're ever near you 😀)1
-
So i just wanted to say thank you. Everyone on devrant.
It became a safe place for me to rant about stuff, getting feedback from awesome people and so much more. Also i learned some things on dR that making my (dev)life better!
Most important devrant is making me feel way better, when you read about people having the same struggles.
But not only the rants are making this awesome. Its every single one of you.
Thank you, stay awesome!2 -
The beauty of DevRant is that you don't need to assign people as "friend" in order to express thoughts and share them with like-minded awesome people.3
-
Needed devRant font awesome icon for my personal website. Couldn't find. Thought of creating a new issue when I found this..
Request every dev to thumbs up this issue at https://github.com/FortAwesome/...2 -
!rant
Hello world, i've just found this awesome community a few days ago and I cant stop reading.
Anyway, I have a burning question:
Do devRant devs rant on devRant?4 -
There is someone so stupid to press that button and leave this awesome community? I don't think so...4
-
Thanks devrant for making me feel part of a really nice community! I mean... Before devrant I was only able to hear "oh, it is not that bad" or "take it easy" as a response... Now I'm reading really nice answers from people that really loves the IT, and people that always works on the worst side of the companies, doing all the hardwork. I don't feel alone anymore!4
-
sometimes I feel there must be a bookmark or favorite feature in devRant to save all those awesome rants10
-
Me and some of my friends used to crack programming jokes and ranting about jobs/software engineering etc. Other people used to get irritated by that, even s/w enggs. When I found devRant, I felt like those girls from Avicii's song "Wake me up".
I shared devRant with my friends and said "Guys, we found our people. Hurry!!" 😍😍😎😎😂😂2 -
hello devRant!
i've been lurking for about a week but i finally decided to activate my account and introduce myself :>
this seems like an awesome community and i'm glad to be a part of it!14 -
First off: setup reveal
second off: thanks everyone for the 1000++!!
Lastly: devrant stickers!
Thanks @dfox and @trogus for making this awesome platform12 -
Found out about this on DevRant and got enrolled. Feels awesome!
PS Does anybody know any other things a student can avail for free online to help me in my coding endeavour?14 -
Upgraded my cellphone plan from 300MB to 5GB. Now browsing DevRant and Reddit while hearing over Spotify. Its awesome.4
-
It's f-ing 2018.
We are generating electricity out of thin air.
We are generating it through light.
We are generating it through flowing water.
We can generate it when humans freaking move.
We can freaking feel the virtual stuff(latest SmarterEveryday upload).
But we still have freaking powercuts 😤😖😠😭.
P.S. : I Love you, you beautiful devrant people😊. My headache disappeared after reading a few rants😁.7 -
Hey!
I'm new to devRant
I did not thought that there would be any community where people would speak a programmer's language (read humour) and would be so supportive and encouraging about almost anything. reddit is too informal and stackoverflow, too formal. devRant falls in the Goldilocks zone for programmers. Feels just right!
Thank You for making it so awesome!9 -
I feel strange, because I don't have nothing to rant about... I work with awesome people, and my life is not so terrible... What the fuck I'm doing on devRant?
Uhm... maybe I'm the boss who everyone is ranting about...7 -
So after less than four weeks of waiting (an incredibly short time!), I finally got my fresh new devRant stickers yesterday, shipped all the way out to Middle Of Nowhere, India :D
Hats off to the devRant team for their incredible commitment to the app and the users!5 -
Hello * ! I'm browsing devrant since few months and finally subscribe.
As a GNU/Linux user and Free software supporter I really appreciate to not be forced to be logged to use this app. And the community is great ! Thanks to the developers and the community for this awesome app !2 -
There's an awesome devRant infographic (by @trogus) and write-up this morning on Forbes tech: http://forbes.com/sites/... Please share it around!
And if you don't mind, I just posted the article on hacker news, you should be able to find by browsing newest (you might have to click "more") please vote: https://news.ycombinator.com/newest - title is "Developers Who Rant the Most"
Thanks :)5 -
Thanks for the stickers the devRant team and the app are awesome :)
Hope I can put the other stickers to good use too.11 -
I love this app. With such an active community, it's heartwarming to see things like "dfox +1'd your want", and not uncommon. We are part of a wonderful app where you can tell the devs care because they themselves are super active users of the app too.
Much appreciation devs and other community celebs, keep on being awesome.1 -
DevRant is a wonderful community, and the last thing any of us would want it to lose it. I think DR should have ads. To think that DevRant grew so fast and large, yet they haven't implemented ads shows just how awesome these guys are. But, it worries me to think that it's only supported by merch and people paying for collab and avatar stuffs scares me. Just a small ad at the bottom of the screen, I'm sure most of us wouldn't mind, and if it helps these humble and amazing people who created DevRant, I would be more than happy.17
-
I read a lot about people complaining about their shitty jobs. Some of us actually have nice jobs, but could really need more coworkers.
Wouldn't it be nice if devRant had the possibility to post job offers? Of course, no recruiters allowed, just awesome job offers, so we can all work together on some nice projects.
PS: Could really need some help at work :-)5 -
I've been waiting for my girlfriend to try some clothes for the past 40 mins and we were still in the first shop. I swear it's been 2 days since we arrived at the mall.
I just want to finish my first vuejs project (vuejs from a back end dev perspective is simply awesome).
Not a true devrant but a rant non the less. Save me devbrothers2 -
Man, where have I been all these days. devRant feels like some place I belong to. awesome community! loving it!!3
-
A lot of people seeing the devRant app on my phone:
What's that?
I always answer:
A safe place for developer ;)
What are your one sentence descriptions for this awesome app? ;)15 -
devRant already replace SoundCloud as my orange app in the main screen...
To be fair, SoundCloud was just there to complete the rainbow.
Rant: this app told me that my rant would be safe if I closed the Post Rant window (since I can't post more than one rant per hour or something) but it didn't save my awesome tags! I feel betrayed.undefined fuck it i'm out why not spotify? can't wait for the stickers don't remember the original tags script kiddie af love at first sight finally a rant who's colorblind?23 -
Meh... Have been on devrant for more than 1,5 hours today... Maybe I should study for my last exam tomorrow instead of being online here...11
-
I found my PATH to grow.
Now I have an excuse to say that I don't want to be a doctor.
(being a doctor in korea = best job, awesome, only smart dudes go)
Special thanks to App inventor and devRant2 -
After a year of lurking on devRant I'm giving it the support it deserves.
- Awesome design
- Awesome community
- Awesome app
Thanks you devRant9 -
Devranter for less than 2 months and I can already say I've never used a social media (or whatever it is) platform more than devRant :) Thanks to this awesome community!1
-
Thank god there are no Community Moderators on devRant... I just fucking have StackOverflow/Quora, they just don't let a newbie rise on those platforms... I love this place though.6
-
Looks great. That's all now set for my WhatsApp profile pic no more hassle on that. Thanks devRant for the awesome avarter.
-
I love how the developers of this platform(or maybe forum?) engage with its users. Thank you @dfox and his friend :)9
-
Yay devRant stickers!! I suppose I could rant about how they took almost 2 months to get here, but I have a policy against complaining about free things so I won't! And because, well... DevRant is awesome!2
-
Need help with creating an awesome-list for devRant!
If you have any devRant-related projects, please add them!31 -
I got my stickers nearly a week ago, didn't have the time to stick them and snap a picture of it, but now I've done it :)
Thank you so much @dfox for these, they're awesome ;)2 -
Finally my stickers arrived! Again! xD And they're getting more and more!
Maybe devRant should check their awesome-sticker-sending-process.
But until then, I ain't complainin' ¯\_(ツ)_/¯4 -
You will realize that your life is fucked up when you write ' <i class="fa fa-laptop"></i>' in devRant instead of using emoji(💻).3
-
!rant XOR !rant
I have been using devrant for a while now and have finally decided to create an account. That is all I have to say really. I rarely have anything to rant so instead I will just be ++ away.
P.S @linuxxx you are awesome and I love reading your rants.16 -
devRant is nice.
If you move rant feed to "Recent" and saw a bunch of rant u already read but you keep scrolling down hoping to see new rant but u fail cause rant policy keep people from posting new rant for 2 hour and not many new rant has been post.
This is a nice feature. It make u self aware that "crap, maybe too much time on devRant". Even if you addict to devRant but by this policy -> It force you to really close its app and checking it on another free time. (more healthy than another social media I guess 😂)2 -
Set my alarm 25 minutes earlier to check out this awesome thing called devRant. Before I start my day. 😎2
-
Hello devRant. I finally joined after lurking for a few days on the app. This community already feels awesome 🙌4
-
Lately I've been noticing that most of devRant is international, which is awesome! (no, the exclamation does not mean not)5
-
devRant community is so awesome. I recently joined and everyone is so welcoming and friendly. Thanks! :)10
-
Was thinking. There are days when I am far too busy to check devRant (sigh, sorry :-(). How about devRant sending a notification for post of the day everyday? Would really make my day and that would be awesome! @dfox4
-
@dfox @trogus Hooked me up with a second set of stickers! Thank you sir now i get to trick of my 3d printer 😁 Lol i took this picture forever ago and forgot to post2
-
Didn't know devrant has cartoon episodes on YouTube. Awesome. 😁
Not so many though
https://youtube.com/watch/...1 -
!rant
After 4 weeks of no coding i start slowly missing it. especially when i'm reading dev rant 😁
Got some time for myself to upgrading elzdev 2.9 to elzdev 3.0
I can highly recommend you to do something good for yourself and spend some time alone with no work.
I chose Barcelona for one month 😍
And now i can't wait to start work again at the begining of november 😄4 -
I want a font-awesome icon for devRant. Would be nice for mine and others' sites. Any designers around to submit as a suggestion for next version (or for other icon libraries)?5
-
Finally got my stickers! :D thanks DevRant, for being an awesome community. Keep up the good work!4
-
*joins devrant.
*builds an awesome avarter to his taste.
me: Haha, you sexy beast! Now go out there and torment the world.4 -
Part of me loves devRant for it's diverse community of awesome people doing varied and interesting projects. And their ability to support and learn from each other, or at least agree to disagree.
Another part of me wants to host an API with an isTwat call that allows you to find out if someone's a twat or not, with links to their offending comments and rants. Along with a website for easy Twact™ checking.3 -
Hi, I am a recruiter representing awesome projects. It's the next thing after machine learning! You would be crazy not to apply.
But the is a strict requirement: you need to have 69 years of experience in devRant. Please comment if you have serious interest.5 -
When I came home just now after a long day and opened my mailbox, I was instantly made a little bit happier than before.
Thank you @dfox and @trogus for creating this opportunity for devs to rant about little and big incidents and to seek advice and amusement. (And for the stickers, of course. :D)
Thank you all for being the awesome community you are.
(Two of the stickers were immediately stuck to one of my boxes and fit in quite well.
Edit: Also: sorry for potato, it's evening in Germany.)13 -
Recruiter rant!
I hate when recruiters send you smileys after your first response - Why can't they simply answer in a formal way? This is business and not just another social network...
Claification, just another social network of course excludes devRant, devRant and its community is awesome and I am so glad that I found the app and can be a small part of it!10 -
DevRant should have a sort by random I am tired of reloading and get basically the same thing but in different orders2
-
Thank you devrant for the awesome stickers i put one on my laptop and one on my on my desktop the last one i may put on my car.
-
I sort of panicked when typing out my mail to avail of the free stickers. I forgot to put my full name. welp
But they still replied! XD DevRant is awesome!!!3 -
Convinced another fellow developer to join devRant:
Welcome @binogure!
He's an indie game developer I met online and I'm helping him to translate his game, "City Game Studio", at the moment.
Check it out! The game is currently in closed beta and it's really awesome!
#ad ;D6 -
That moment on Devrant that someone thinks your comment is a vigenère, while it actually was some random generated text in my pocket while cycling home.
devRant is awesome! :)2 -
We need more cool stuff to put in our profile pic
Like chainsaw our skull on the desk
Shotgun lying on the ground
Quad-copper hovering on top
Controller cars
...
You know what I mean2 -
ohhh after replacing HP logo on my pc with devrant stickers now i want my stresss ball wooohhhh...1

Glad to support this awesome community! Thanks @dfox & @trogus for the quality shipment!
I'll look like a DevRant salesman with this Tee and the stickers on my Macbook :D Goto sleep, wake up covered in bitches with all this swag :D5 -
how many of you think it would be awesome if we can use these votes as reward points and redeem at the devrant stores!? 😀7
-
@dfox awesome avatars, the devRant avatars are really nice addition and just avatar we can edit them too.1
-

!rant.
I think i joined devRant back in October and since then it has become my most used app. Its so great to be under the same of its kind! And even though I don't have something to rant about at the moment, I am gonna support all those ranters with my ++'s! I already ++'t over a thousand rants and won't stop!5 -
Finally got my stickers! (thank you devRant team!)
Now time to overthink about where I'm gonna put them and plot my impending, super-awesome, post that will score me the stress ball 🤔1 -
!Rant
I was just listening to a podcast and they mentioned patreon. Not sure if you two, @dfox and @trogus, thought about creating a patreon page. I would definitely support you guys for the work and time you two put into devrant. Would be awesome to have some method to tip you guys some dollar for a tea ;)1 -
DEVRANT INDIA MEETUP
@GDD Bangalore, Dec 1 and 2
It will be awesome to meet all the devs who are attending the GDD at Bangalore. So lets make a group chat and plan a way to spot each other 🤓

When you can't get any work done because devRant pushed out an update that includes notifications...7
-
Didn't even ask for 2 sets, the devRant team is just awesome! Thanks!
On and @localhost, it seems like people are sending their setup, so here's my student one :)1 -
This is actually a question about the devRant app.
I’ve noticed this a few times. When I click a rant repeatedly (say x times), from the front page or from the notifications pane, multiple layers of that rant open up. And I have to hit the back button x amount of times to go back to where I initially was (again, front page or notification pane).
Now, I understand an app capturing multiple user inputs on the same object but shouldn’t it also account for this by only considering those taps as one input, especially if the object is lagging and hadn’t been loaded? Why is devRant implemented this way?
I would consider it undesirable to have Gmail open the same email in multiple layers when you click the same email repeatedly. So, is devRant’s a feature or a bug?
I’m not a web (app) developer. I’d just like some knowledge on how user input might be captured and why repeated inputs aren’t screened out?
If anyone could page the two awesome doods who work on devRant, that would be awesome! I hope I didn’t just wrongly assume their genders.5 -
Wow. I've only been active for a day and I've already got over 300 +1's and a rant in the top. Thank you to the devRant community and thank you devRant for being so cool!3
-
devRant mini rant... Only myself to blame
I wear flannels all the time :( but don't have 1000
Thanks devRant for awesome content, I will get the flannels soon!7 -
Awesome, at lease devRant is up and running, where else would we all go otherwise when the Internet is falling apart! Go @dfox !4
-
Awesome wallpaper of devrant...
I don't remember who gave me the link of this wallpaper
Whoever it was just want to say Thank You !!!!!8 -
This is really awesome ! First time I saw devRant I thought that hardly anyone is checking this out but with every day I see so many new, great rants !2
-
Because of all the devRant posts about unit tests, I decided to write a few to see how they worked.
They just saved me from pushing completely broken code to production. THANK YOU devRant!!1 -
Do we actually know how many people there are on devRant?
Just wondering to see which percent of the community liked the top posts.9 -
I tried to learn Webpack for the second time in my life and ended up adopting RiotJs and discovering devrant. But still don't know how to setup a webpack correctly.
Now, everytime I want to discover awesome things, I will try to learn this stupid so called tool named Webpack -
The only things my devRant avatar is missing is a couple of LEGO models, some loudspeakers and a subwoofer under the table.
But what the hell. devRant is still awesome.2 -
I already got my stickers of devRant. I have to say I was thinking that they would pay their own staff for posting photos with stickers, but no!. It's true, they send them haha. Thank you so much for this, it's of very good quality! devRants team it's awesome! :)3
-
Been here for quite a while now and eventually made an Account.
It cannot be said often enough:
DevRant is awesome!
following: mandatory "Hello World"
import System.Drawing
import System.Windows.Forms
f = Form()
f.Scale(.6,.45)
f.Controls.Add(Label(Text: "Hai wurld!", Location: Point(60,30)))
f.Controls.Add(Button(Text: "KTHXBYE", Location: Point(50,55), Click: {Applikation.Exit()}))
Applikation.Run(f)2 -
Today I read a comment on devRant about somebody asking what 1337 means. I think most of us know (almost trivial, maybe?), but what is really great is that so many people replied explaining what it means. Some replies were awesome, some were creative, some were just a basic answer to the question.
But none were hateful. ❤️
DevRant is a place for awesome people like you who understand that every one of us doesn't know something every day. That's developer life. That's devRant life too! The other day I told a senior developer about a Haskell project of mine and he asked: 'What is Haskell?' I was impressed, but it taught me a lot.
On devRant I see no troll comments like 'omfg fucking retard, you must be a faggot and live in a dumpster', which are common on the www nowadays and could have been found under a question like 'what is 1337?'. But not here. And this, while I see the occasional swearing in rants, but never at other members.
So thank you for just being normal people among other normal people. We swear at each other's fugly code sometimes, but we are a creative bunch of smart asses that stay classy at it.

so i made a JSON file to collect devRant projects
it can be accessed by a get request to the API endpoint:
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/j...
im pretty sure the api will always work even in the future, aslong as github exists
most of the projects at this point ~40 come from the devrant-awesome Github repository made by Skayo.
If a project is missing feel free to create an issue!
the use cases are to bring projects closer to users, by adding showing them in clients.
and i've also added an implementation of it to skyRant (see picture)

Just discovered my little devrant april fools inspired binary tampermonkey script made it onto the devrant awesome list 😊1
-
So I'm a software tester and about a week ago I started developing a simple node application in my spare time. I was also about a week ago that I found devrant.
I didn't know I needed to add my statics in index.js. I spend two days on fixing a mime-error.
..I need a rubber duck.
But learning to code and devrant are really awesome! :D1 -
@dfox
Awesome devrant podcasts.
Seriously, if you enjoy devrant you will be really impressed with the two they have done so far.
Surprised at the five star guests they have gotten so far.
Just need to net Uncle Bob. -
Just arrived love from NY and know London loves you back.
David and Tim, thanks for making devRant happen... this is awesome.1 -
Hey devrant, what do y'all listen to when you're working? What gets you in the zone?
Personally, I listen to a lot of chiptunes, some Opeth, Black metal, 70's, and lately, a lot of Mega Drive. Awesome stuff, but it's admittedly a weird mix. Always looking to find new stuff to listen to.16 -
Have more ++ on devrant than on stackoverflow. Feels home here. It's fun being part of this awesome community.3
-
I just had the first day of my new job, and I started it by putting my victoriously earned devrant stress ball on my desk. I waited a word about it the entire day... I guess imma have to introduce my coworkers to the awesome place devrant is 😁2
-
Crypto Derivatives Exchange | It will be awesome to find here some creative recommendations from DevRant Community2
-
Just received my stickers and stress ball! A big thanks to the devRant Team. Keep up the awesome work!
-
I'm back! I had to move and everything went to shit. Instead of being a proper person, I shut down. I think I'm ready for devrant again, you guys are awesome and motivate me so much.. I don't even know why I stopped being on here. Oh well.. Hello there!1
-
Hi devRant community,
First of all, I'm so grateful and thankful for being part
of this awesome community. CHEERS!
I just wanna ask some advices from my super kind and awesome
pile of developers, what is the best thing to do if you're
stucked between creating a certain feature and a raging
girlfriend. I mean, my head is aching. I don't know what to do.
She needs time, but my first love which is programming also
needs much more of my time.

I finally got my Visa sorted out (after 2 months) so I could finally get DevRant++ and as luck would have it the "Darkest dark" theme came out this same week!
The timing couldn't have been better and it looks incredible on my OLED screen!1 -
So far, devRant has severely damaged the 'I need to pay someone to rant too about my work' industry and caused a boom in the 'these guys have an awesome set up; I want a new monitor' industry. Social media guys! Powerful stuff1
-
I want to purchase a rubber duck from devrant, but am not quite sure how long it is going to take before arriving to Nigeria. I can buy it from a local retailer in my country, but i don't want to, buying from devrant is my way of giving back to this awesome platform. @dfox have you shipped to africa before ?2
-
I used to have this awesome co-worker who patiently listens to me ranting everything all day long. Well that's before devrant came along.
-
!rant
there's gotta be another drunk post of me now sores
What I love about devRant aren't only the rants but really the comments. In almost every rant the comet section is at least as funny ass the rant it self. This shows how awesome this community isch.
Don't drunk as much as me and I really do.enjoy being part of this aesome part of the interwebs.1 -
What I would like, do I want to start a conversation?
Sorry...
if let url = URL(string: "devrant://") {
let app = UIApplication.shared
if app.canOpenURL(url) {
//safe, Talk to user
} else {
//don’t start a conversation, or stop it now!
exit(0)
}

I have a handy RSS Feed Reader extension in Google Chrome that allows me to add RSS feeds and check them in a popup in my browser and get notified when something new comes up. I've added RSS feeds for my email, GitHub, and a whole lot of other things. It'd be really awesome if devRant added an RSS feed too, so users can implement devRant in their RSS feed readers too (if anyone still uses them in the 21st century lmao). What does everyone think?
-
Thanks devRant for stickers, they're awesome, but I want to give a special thank to my brother, who opened mail, stickers left me on desk and rest threw away, so I don't know what was inside. 🤷♀️😂1
-
It's been one month since I joined devRant, the community is awesome and it is good to be here.
It was the second-best suggestion given by Google in recent times. -
That moment when your laptop is empty and ugly and your trying to get stickers. Well... here im am asking for likes to get those awesome devrant stickers! 😃1
-
Grrrrrr!! Wtf,.. my younger brother uninstalled the mighty devrant app coz of memory issue to get space just to install a shitty BBM app!! How can I live without this awesome community. I have just banned him indefinately from getting near my fon... still thinking of grounding him!! How can he do that... undeniably in love with this community2
-
We should start giving devRant profile link in Resume/CV lmao.
Hope that will be a new trend haha.6 -
Not too long ago I bought 3 monitors. Now I have my IDE on the center, console and debugger (and devrant) on the left, git and music on the right. Still figuring out the best arrangement for all windows but this already feels awesome!3
-
Happy New Year to my awesome new family on devRant! Cheers to a successful year for us all, take care of yourselves!1
-
Hey devRant team, I saw the new designs and they are awesome. Actually I just started learning Android App Development and I was curious what stack do you guys use for devRant Android App. And while we are on this can you guys share the stack you use for IOS app and Web app. Thank you and by the way you've done a really good job with android app.6
-
Hello Geeks...
Just joined the Devrant...
And enjoying using it..
Got to see such awesome stuffs and rants...
Will appreciate any kinda help though...8 -
Awesome feature by devRant...
You can't post your password in rants or comments... See:
My password is ***********
Try now! When you post you can see the password, but others will only see '*'.
-If you fell for this, u r a noob.16 -
Complaining about your colleagues on devRant but ending up showing them the app anyway cuz it's so damn awesome..
-
Phew, long time no see, devRant!
That Uni really squished life out of me. Damn. But awesome damn.
Still love ya tho, just want you to know that. You're awesome, really:)1 -
!rant I've seen so many developer communities and none of those has been so friendly like you guys at devRant are. I've only once seen one rather rude answer and that was just like 'nop we aren't stack overflow, ask that question there'. Keep up that great vibe guys, you are awesome!
-
We should invent a codeword for saying that devRant is awesome--lots of rants seem to be about it. That way we can add it to the end of any rant to show our love.
Any suggestions?1 -
I accidentally stumbled upon the devrant podcast and oh my God, it's so freaking awesome! Such great advice for devs. Looking forward to new episodes!2
-
Am I the only one who thinks those wk questions have to go away or should change since they have nothing to do with ranting? DevRant is growing and growing but since everyone is answering those questions only like 2/10 posts are proper rants.
Would be awesome if those questions are made so that people start rant about it.3 -
!rant question
Anybody else: Solarized (no affiliation)? Dark and light are so beautiful. Plugged in to terminal, window manager, (neo)vim, statusline (yeah, the Awk thing). Feels so beautiful. Can read shit off it anywhere, and my eyes aren't going any more blind.
P.S devRant team please get post separation up so that I don't have to add a 'question/rant/meme' tag to everything I post. <3 Love u guys! -
To all ranters with stickers.
Did you get some confirmation for your stickers. I sent a mail months ago. Maybe some delay because I am not in the US3
