1. Applied to a tech company based in Seattle
2. Interviewed
3. Got rejected because "At the moment, they do not hire international students."
Then, why did you interview me in the first place? :')4 -
Habit I'm trying to fix?
Doing it all myself. I've been timeboxing my problems and forcing myself to ask instead of forcing myself to just figure it out myself. Communication isn't my strong point.2 -
I started a new job about a week ago in an R&D software house which is a completely different world from what I am used to.
I worked as a coder in small teams, sometimes with Agile but always sunk in multiple projects at once - requiring constant switching of sprint goals week to week.
Now, I am alone (first person in a "maybe-in-the-future" team), doing research and preparing a demo for the client. It's hella lot of responsibility yet I found it weirdly liberating - being on my own, in control of what I do.
It may change in the future when project will inevitebly grow, but for right now, a week in, I started smiling while coding and learning, which I apparently haven't done in years.2 -
I'm getting tired of coding. Not really the coding part, the dealing with people who tell me what to code and why part. Sort of considering making a move into a scrum master or PM role just so I can get fired when I say "No, we're not changing everything they've been working on in the middle of the sprint" or maybe "Yeah, no we're not going to put in a bunch of tickets to change the UI/UX without first talking to the designers, because that's what they do. Yes, I realize we aren't Facebook, but do you realize we "compete" with them because a huge number of people will compare our usability to theirs? (even if just subconsciously)"3

Why the fuck why are tslint and prettier are always sucking their dicks and fuck each others asses.
Do you know this moment when you think:.... 🤔 They have millions of downloads, why do I bother formatting my code so much. Mabye all this people are smarter and saving so much time.
Then you set up eslint and prettier adjusting 10000k rules just to find eslint and prettier five minutes later in one file fucking their asses again how to indent on save😠😱7 -
Still not using versioning even though I'm the only coder. I have a dev and a live version of the site and once in a while (like early this morning) I update the live site by mistake, writing over the safe file with the development one :S5

In case you remember,
there lived a legendary coder named "Harsha Suryanarayana", popularly known as "Humblefool"
from India. He died in a car accident back in 2014.
The only thing that still keeps me wondering is why he always chose to code in Java( in coding competitions ) even though he knew C++ along with STL and was also aware of the advantages of using C++ over Java in competitive coding.7
