Search - "apple hate"
I fucking love my parents.
Came to visit them again and told them that I might buy an iPhone in the future (I fucking hate apple/i-devices and they know that).
Mom: "You are going to WHAT? Are you okay, son?"
Dad: *walks towards me and puts hand on forehead* "Hmmm, doesn't seem to be that warm. Maybe we should visit a psychiatrist soon."
Me: 😂. mom, dad, I fucking love you.56
I fucking hate CNET already. I mean who likes a website which autoplays a video everytime you visit them, with 200% volume.
But this time, I am just so fucking annoyed. Here is the title of an article:
"iPhone 8, X's wireless charging is a game changer for Android"
And the subtitle:
"When it comes to Apple, plenty of Android phone makers are monkey see, monkey do."
FUck you motherfucker. "Monkey see, monkey do". Are you fucking kidding me you cunt?
Remeber your 3D touch bullshit? Your fucking wireless charging will be bullshit too.
"the rest of the phone users make do with messy cables."
Maybe you're a fucking imbecile who doesn't know how to manage simple cables and ends up with broken wires.
You know who looks like a monkey? Some apple users who uses that shitty looking wireless earphone, which looks like monkey's dick you asshole.
I may have an unpopular opinion, but I.......
fucking hate these universal programming languages that try too hard to make cross-platform bullshit easy to develop for. THEY PISS ME OFF SO MUCH...
Like, for example:
STOP FUCKING HAVING 2000 BILLION DEPENDENCIES, LIKE WRITE YOUR OWN ORIGINAL CODE AND TRY NOT TO FUCKING MAKE A MONOLITHIC FUCKING MONSTER OF A CODEBASE. I BET SOMEONE WROTE THE ENTIRETY OF GNU UTILS IN JS, WHAT THE FUCK?!
Yea, let's make a platform that everyone needs a fucking VM for. Sounds great. And also fuck OS GUI guidelines and make our own cancerous looking solaris shit UI, yay.
Microsoft: We will make a UNIVERSAL programming language like C++, but with some stuff from Java.
Microsoft: Universal under Windows platforms that is...
Me: go fuck yourself, you greedy cunt. Atleast Apple has the decency to make Objective-C work on non Apple software, unlike YOU. FUCKING CHEAP BASTARD.
I don't have much against it, but having pip seperate from the package manager on Linux (atleast) is annoying as fuck. And also compiling it into a executable would be "THE FEATURE" and not some 3rd party shitty solution that fucking breaks in a year or two.
Come to think of it, people SHOULD FUCKING STOP TRYING TO MAKE A NO-PORTING UTOPIA SOLUTION, BUT INSTEAD FOCUS ON MAKING IT EASIER TO PORT. A little "#define MYFUCKINGOS" wouldn't fucking hurt, you know. Because at the end if you run a VM, interpreter, have a shit ton of dependencies or just are a fucking monopolistic asshole, you're gonna piss off and divide people.

This week I quit the corporate life in favour of a much smaller company (60 people in total) and i never felt so good.
After 3 years in 2 big corporations, I began to hate coding mainly because of:
- internal political games. It's like living inside House of Cards everyday.
- management and non-tech people choosing tech stacks. Angular 4 + Bootstrap 4 alpha version + AG-Grid + IE11. Ohhh yeah. Not.
- overtime (even if it was paid double). I never did a single minute of OT for fixing something that I caused. I spent days fixing things caused by others and implementing promises that other people made.
- meetings. I spend 50-60% of the time in pointless meetings (I tracked them in certain time intervals) but the workload is same like I was working 8 hours / day.
- working in encapsulated environments without access to internet or with limited access to internet (no GitHub, no StackOverflow etc.)
- continuously changing work scope. Everyday the management wants something new introduced in the current sprint/release and nobody accepts that they have to remove other things from the scope in order to proper implement everything.
- designers that think they are working for Apple and are arguing with things like "but it's just a button! why does it take 2 days to implement?"
- 20 apps installed additionally on my phone (Citrix Receiver, RSA Token, Mobile@Work Suite etc.) just to be able to read my email
- working with outdated IDEs and tools because they have to approve every new version of a software.
- making tickets for anything. Do you want a glass of water? Open a ticket and ask for it.
- KPIs. KPIs everywhere. You don't deserve anything because the KPIs were not accomplished.
The bad part of the above things is that they affect your day-to-day personality even if you don't see it. You become more like a rock with almost 0 feelings and interests.
This is my first written "rant". If anyone is interested, I will post different situations that will explain a lot of the above aspects.13
I am sure Apple just hate web devs:
From the iOS 10 beta 1 release notes:
"To improve accessibility on websites in Safari, users can now pinch-to-zoom even when a website sets user-scalable=no in the viewport."13
I fucking hate Apple products now.
iPhone 5s time was Apple's prime.
Now it's just a company living off the momentum of its old products.
iPhone X.. really ? the notch ?15
Ranting about a meme lol
This type of shit is what I fucking hate most iPhone users.
Samsung was founded in 1938... Apple was founded in 1976.
Most iPhone users are a walking L these days with their ignorance and false sense of superiority. Fucking assholes22
I really hate Apple for popularizing reversed scrolling on touchpads. It doesn't make any fucking sense.16
Alright people, I'm gonna be blunt here, which is something not often seen from me. Thankfully this platform is used to it.
I am absolutely sick of people hating Windows/MacOS just because of the fucking practices of the companies. Let's take a look at a pro/con list of each OS type respectively.
Pro - Most computers built for it
Pro - Average consumer friendly
Pro - Most games made for it
Con - Proprietary
Con - Shady info collection (disableable)
Con - Can take some work to customize
Pro - Open source
Pro - Hundreds of versions/distros
Pro - Incredibly customizable on all fronts
Con - Can have limited modern hardware support
Con - The good stuff has a steep learning curve
Con - Tends to have unoptimized programs or semi-failed copies of Windows programs
Pro - Actually quite secure in general
Pro - Optimized to all hell (on Apple devices)
Pro - Usually just works
Con - Only (legally) usable on Apple devices
Con - Proprietary
Con - Locked down customization
See? None of them are perfect. Fucking get over it already. Maybe I want to use Windows because it works for me, and it actually does what I need it to. I can disable the spying shit through a few nice programs. Just because I work in IT doesn't mean that I HAVE to hate Windows and LOVE Linux! I mean, Linux is absolutely SPECTACULAR for all of my servers, but as a Desktop OS? Not there for me yet. Check one of my other rants: https://devrant.com/rants/928935/... and you'll see a lot of my gripes with Linux that Windows actually executes well. FUCK!39
Sister: (she must migrated from iOS to android) you can download these apps and then you can change like colors and themes and everything 😍😱😵
Me: Yeah off course you can...?
Sister: Oh not, oh no, you're not going to tell me you've been able to do this for years?!?
Me: Uhm... Yes...?
Not an apple hate rant, just found the convo funny!6
So, as someone who has spent a lot of time in JS and a lot of time elsewhere, here are my views. Please, discuss your opinions with me as well. I am genuinely interested in an intelligent conversation about this topic.
So here's my background: learned HTML/CSS/JS in that order when I was 12 because I liked computers. I was pretty shitty at JS until U was at least 15, but you get the point, Ive had it sploshing about in my brain for a while.
Now, JS certainly has its quirks, no doubt, but theres nothing about the language itself that I would say makes it shitty. Its a very easy leanguage to use, but isn't overdeveloped like VB.net (Or, as I like to call it, TheresAFunctionForThat)
Most of the hate is centered around JS being used for a very broad range of systems. I doubt JS would be in the rant feed so often if it were to stay in its native ecosystem of web browsers. JS can be used in server backend, web frontent, desktop and mobile applications, and even in some system services (Although this isn't very popular as of yet). People seem to be terrified that one very easy to learn language can go so far. And, oh god, its interpreted... How can a system app run off an interpreted language? That's absurd.
My opinion on JSEverything is that it's progress. Thats what we're all about, right? The technologies already in place are unthreatened by JS, it isn't a gamechanger. The only thing JS integration is doing is making tedius and simple tasks easier. Big companies with large systems aren't going to jump ship and migrate to JS. A startup, however, could save a fucking ton of development time by using a JS framework, however. I want to live in a world where startups can become the next Google, because technology will stagnate when youre trying to protect your fortune, (Look at Apple for fucks sake) but innovation is born of small people with big ideas.
I have a feeling the hate for JS is coming from fear of abandoning what you're already doing. You don't have to do that. JS is only another option (And a very good one, which is why it's becoming so popular).
As for my personal opinion from my experiences... I've left this part til the end on purpose. I love programming and learning and creating, so I've never hated a lamguage, really. It all depends on what I want to do. In the times i've played arpund with JS, I've loved it. Very very easy. The idea of having it on both ends of web development makes a lot of sense too, no conversion, just direct communication. I would imagine this really helps with speed, as well. I wouldn't use it in a complicated system, though. Small things, medium size projects: perfect. Running a bank? No.
So what do you think about this JSUniverse?9
I am fucking so pissed off that I can't even write this.
So my employer, a name next to Apple and Google, held a party. A motherfucking huge party at a very renowned hotel of the city.
I being an introvert was not fucking interested but went for experience.
Dickheads all around. Ass stinking crowd and extreme frivolous stuff going on.
Fucktards had the courage get on stage and perform like singing dancing and comedy act stereotyping men. What the dog fucking hell???!!!!
And that's when I saw my crush. Damnnnn!!!!
I lost my shit. Period.
I could never fucking expect that from her in my wildest dream.
Problem is not the world. It's fucking me. I am an undiluted asshole.
I am not ashamed to ask for help. I am emotionally unstable and I need support. A shoulder to cry on.
I hate why god created me different. I cannot take this shit anymore.
I am shivering. Managed to reach home. Want to cry. Yes, I am grown up adult but this world isn't for me.
People are stupid. All of them are fucking narcissists. Every single dickhead dog.
Selfies and cheap acts. Wow!!! Is this all you got? Maan take that spoon and dip it in hot chocolate being served and shove up your god dammnnnnn asss.
Let me tell you, I went through a breakup of 2 years of relationship and it was terrible. I had mental issues since then. Nobody cared. The reason was me. I am an asshole. Stinking shit.
I couldn't take it. Fuck me in the arse.
Mother nature works in a mysterious way. I don't know what's happening with me.
I feel good in serving others. I did charity on the way back to feel good. But, People around are narcissists and I feel I am born at wrong time or maybe I should quit.
Unless I am emotionally stable I won't be able to pursue my dream. I will put all my projects on hold. I am angry and full of bad vibes.
I can motivate the crap out of anybody but today is not my day. I am done here.
All I need is a shoulder to cry, a person to hug and a soul who understands and trusts me.
Maybe a good night sleep will cure my heart ache.
I am sorry for everything. I just peace and some alone time for the things are not meant for me and I am not meant for this time.
Good night world. See you all tomorrow ☮
I love devRant community for you are the only people who understand me.43
Don't be ridiculous and say Mac's are good for gaming 😣, they aren't.
Their graphics are terrible CPUs are shocking ram ... Average the fact they have fast ssds is great
But that's it. For their price points it's not worth it end of story
I used to say Mac's are worth getting if your a designer or video editor...
I have now changed my position due to the shittyness of their latest products
I'm not really much of a gamer anymore to busy 😓 but I can read specs.
People won't build games for Mac's especially now it will lower the quality of their product. I actually don't even see a point of having a Mac in today's world.
Apple are meant to push boundaries ... They are doing it all wrong now 😐
Accept it... And get a PC 5 times faster then their apple counterparts
I do fucking hate apple but I respected them in the past, if nothing but their clever marketing getting sheep to buy their products . Now I just don't respect them, they could at least try to build something remotely worth the money21
Every single one of them, and every one that will come after them.
Google, it started out as 2 people in their garage, wanting to make a search engine that was better than the others. Nothing else, nothing evil. Just make the world a little bit better. And look what it's become now. A megacorporation with little to no regards for their user base. Because who cares about users anyway?
Microsoft, it started out with Bill Gates - young high school computer nerd - who wanted to make an operating system for the world to use. Something that's better than the competition. And boy did he do so. Well "better than the competition" aside, he did make it for the world to use. And the world adopted it. And look what it's become now. A megacorporation with little to no regards for their user base. Because who cares about users anyway?
See where I'm going here?
Apple, it started out with Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak in their garage, just like Google did, wanting to make hardware that was better than the others. Nothing else, nothing evil. Just to make the world a little bit better. And look what it's become now. Planned obsolescence has been baked into it, just like it is in every other piece of technology. Quality control and thinking through the design has become a thing of the past. User choice, yeah who cares about that.
Samsung, it started out centuries ago actually, and I don't really remember the details of it.. ColdFusion has a video on it if memory serves me right. Do watch it if you're interested. Anyway, just like all the others they started out as a company which wanted to make the world a little bit better. And damn right did they do so.. initially. Look what they've become now. Forcing their stupid TouchWiz UI upon their customers (or products?), a Bixby button that can't even be reprogrammed.. and the latest thing.. Knox, advertised as a security feature, but as everyone who likes rooting their devices and mucking with it knows, it is an anti-feature that only serves for lockdown. Why shouldn't you be able to turn in a phone for RMA when a hardware error occurs, when all you've personally modified is the software? Why should changing the software blow that eFuse, so that you can be sure that you can't replace it without specialized equipment and a very steady hand?
I could go on and on forever about more of the tech giants out there, but I feel like this suffices for now. Otherwise I won't have anything else left for future rants! But one thing I know for sure. Every tech company started, starts, and will start out with a desire to make the world a better place, and once they gain a significant customer base, they will without exception turn into the same kind of Evil Megacorp., just like the ones before them. Some may say that capitalism itself is to blame for this, the greed for more when you already have a lot. Who knows? I'd rather say that the very human nature itself is to blame for it. We're by design greedy beings, and I hate it. I hate being human for that. I don't want humans to be evil towards one another, and be greedy for ever more. But I guess that that's just the way it is, and some things do actually never change...20
When will Google understand what an ecosystem means ?
Love it or hate it. What makes Apple devices homely is the ability to build a banded and consolidated associative user space that feels the same anytime on any platform. Crafting an ecosystem might be a daunting task , and requires adaptive and perfective rework through a long period. But it pays of , just like apples utility app suite does today. It was a journey to get it right.
Now we have Google , a company that is confused most of the time , releasing new apps everytime they have new feature in mind. According to me , Google did a phenomenal job in building hangouts and Allo , hangouts was a huge step forward from gChat , and Allo was way ahead of its time for a fun and innovative IM app. But what's the need for 2 different apps ? One has video calling , text messaging , group sharing , everything the Allo had.
Then all of a sudden you get Google Duo " The best ever video calling app " Why wasn't this integrated with hangouts and marketed the same way ?
Trial and error is one thing , this seems a lot like the lack of effort in architecting coaction and a well designed internetworking application framework. A lot of unnecessary choices have led to the shutting down of majority of their apps. Allo and hangouts included , but all this would have been unnecessary if the goal was to always build upon iteratively.
While I believe Allo was marketed as a cross platform chat application unlike hangouts , an integration plan could have always circumvented this issue.
I have to talk about another one of Google's failed efforts in recognition of potential , the hello app , but this rant has gone a bit too far already. So I'll post 6 hours later 😅
Well I'll always have the hope to see Google integrate the best of their ideas in a more relaxed and realised structure than what exists today. :)16
Sometimes I find, the hate of Windows & IE and love for Linux is irrational.
Though hate for Apple is act of sanity.10
Disclaimer: I have a strong hate towards apple for multiple reasons and this will only be temporary. (thank God for that)
My oneplus one is battery dead and the power button quit as well. Repair costs would be as expensive as buying a new phone (200-300 price range) so searching for a new one.
But, I need a temporary phone in the mean time.
A phone with googled-android is absolutely a no-go. I used to do that sometimes but those were wrong decisions.
So, for the sake of trying, I'm going for a second hand iPhone.
Will be testing how it works for me (never been able to form an opinion on it since iOS 4.2 (iPod touch)) and will also be searching my ass off for a smartphone which supports lineage/rooting (TIPS BETWEEN ABOVES PRICE RANGE ARE VERY WELCOME) because I'm fucking hell not planning on using that (the iPhone) fucker any longer than a month.
Even if I love it over android (highly doubt that), I won't continue using it for very specific reasons.
Wish me luck 😅16
I get sucked in for 10 minutes through some news article, and my blood is boiling.
I think the platform does not even deserve to exist.
And I didn't think I would ever say that.
I used to be a staunch defender of the free & open internet, even with it's ugly and extreme sides, because I was convinced the good would outshine the evil.
I displayed the Pirate flag with pride on the mast outside of my house, I was intimately involved in the founding of their political party in my country. I was convinced of the power of the internet, I believed it would empower democracy and debate.
So why do simple tweets, even just the ones about technology, incite an endless stream of vile ultranationalist & misogynist hate?
How is it that those who are reasonable get drowned out?
That fucking character limit is a cancer.
The orator's wings are clipped. The richness of language is wilting before our eyes. All that remains are a bunch of caged chickens pecking every argument to death.
I will defend the right to free speech, even when it comes to the most disagreeable and controversial opinions.
But Twitter does not promote free speech. It's poison to free speech.
It's an endless torrent of non sequiturs, which constricts all reason and intellect. It replaces free speech by pretending to have equal value.
I really don't care if you are left or right, socialist or libertarian, globalist or nationalist.
You can argue to me that we should close all borders for immigrants, that Apple makes great products, that genocide has its pros, you could try to convince me that Heineken tastes acceptable (sorry AlexDeLarge), that Linux should be outlawed or that we should really try to bring this Eugenics thing back again.
Just be fucking rational -- and "Rationality implies the conformity of one's beliefs with one's reasons to believe"
You can NOT fit both your beliefs and their supporting reasons in 140 or even 280 characters.
So what's left is just your beliefs.
Stripped of all reason.
Repeat it often enough, keep spewing, keep throwing out incomplete arguments, and you'll train yourself to forego ratio in your convictions completely.
All social platforms should get a forced captcha for every spelling/grammar error, and a 1000 character minimum.
The world would be a slightly better place.7
Tired of stereotypes. It seems that if someone uses a Mac, is posh; if someone uses Windows is a silly cunt, and if someone uses Linux ... well, it seems that's the way to go, right? Well, no.
Suddenly the world is filled with script kids who come and indirectly recriminate you that you have no idea of computer science because you use Ubuntu instead of Arch. That has happened to me with a recently graduated kid.
Really? Do you really consider yourself a good developer only because you have Arch installed and you hate Windows and Apple?
Let people use the system and development software that they prefer most (or that one that their company forces them to use).
This kids have to be more humble and focus on creating better code, help their colleagues and know how to deal with clients.14
I just hate this shady Apple behavior 😡
They make it look like I’m out of storage, but I still have 20%+ free8
Just came back from a new café (to the pedantic among us, yes I know it's a bar.. get over it).
And I met some Apple fanboy 🤭
So the guy kept on bragging about his shiny iPhone 6.. and I figured that I'd chime in. Due to my short-term memory being terrible, I'll be paraphrasing here.
S: iPhone usar _/\_
M: iPhone 6 ey..? I've heard about some devices in which the old ones are throttled down in a system update "to save the battery".
S: Yes, biweekly updates!! You can even delay them to tune them down to the time during which your device is charging and can commence its system update.
M (thinking): You've clearly missed the point sir.. but on Android, system updates don't need to be willfully delayed even. They (usually) won't commence unless your device is 80% and charging. OnePlus has been an exception to this though, probably under the assumption that their users are mostly power users that know what they're doing.
M: You do realize that given that your iPhone 6 is quite old already, Apple will very likely start throttling your device during a system update in the next few months, right.
S: What the hell dude.. look, look how smoothly it's been going for the last few years!!! Nothing wrong with that.
M: Just wait until your repair bill comes from those Geniuses 🤭
M: Sir, you do realize that Apple quotes €600 for battery repairs nowadays, right.
S: What the hell dude!!! I can buy a whole new phone for that much!!
M: Exactly!! That's exactly Apple's business tactic!!! They design their phones as such that the battery replacement (one of the most common repairs) requires you to replace not only the battery, but the whole chassis!!! And on the XS, the battery replacement is nothing short of atrocious!!!
M: Here, have a look at this: https://youtube.com/watch/...
*shows Louis' newest video about him switching to iPhone XS*
S: Yeah that's just bullshit. I bet you're showing me this on one of those crappy Samsungs.
M: No sir. I'm showing this on my Nexus 6P, that is tethered to my OnePlus 6T. Speaking of which, let me introduce you to the Nexus 6P's (one of the crappiest Android flagships to ever exist) repair, the battery replacement of which I've done myself.
(you can watch the iFixit video about it here: https://youtube.com/watch/...)
*explains heatgun, screwdriver, heatgun battery replacement of Nexus 6P and the time each step takes - more than an hour combined*
S: Yeah that's because it's one of those crappy Androids. That'd never happen to this shiny iPhone, look, I've got a $20 battery right here!!!
M: Sir... That's a battery for a MacBook. A laptop battery.... 🤨
I love how willfully ignorant these Apple users are. To them, all that exists is Apple and Samsung (both of which I hate because lockdown). And they apparently don't even know what repair they have to look for when they'll need one.. maybe that's why those Genius Bars exist? 🤭
I'd love to see the guy's face when the Geniuses quote him the price for battery replacement when his planned obsolescence time comes 🤭17
So, there is this guy whose arguments on "How Apple is bad" are
1) "while copying files in Finder, you don't see a speed graph (like in Windows)"
2) "MacBooks don't have a Touchscreen"
3) "it's slow"
4) "you can't play games (like GTA V)"
5) "having app menus always on the top of the screen instead of in every window makes no sense"
Arguments on "why Linux is bad":
1) "it's ugly"
2) no gaming (same as point 4 above)
3)... And other biased irrelevant shit
Yet his amazing old Windows 10 computer with the most recent Insider build has only a 65% chance of booting on the first attempt. Almost nothing works properly on his hardware yet he always blames something unrelated to him.
Recently I was having trouble with the workplace wifi (for few minutes I wasn't having full speed like he on the other side of the room had), and his reaction "aha, it's your macOS, never working".
Like wtf. I don't hate Windows or I don't love Linux, but I night hate him for being an arrogant cunt and I want to punch his face.9
You know whom I hate more than apple fanboys, "language" fanboys!
Yeah...that's a thin now.
(I'll post the whole story when I reach my room)8
I fucking hate "modern" front end. Just a little "hello world" and you already get a useless bundle of js, which is x times then other assets combined.
Not to mention that no fucking setup I tried works, documentation is as accurate and up-to-date as apple maps and all components are basically part of a civil (cock) war.
So far the most frustration aspect in programming I have to endure5
Just found out why people don't use windows. It's because they think it does not work.
In my school we have apple TV's in every room and we use airplay to cast to the projector. And because apple are fucktards and hate cross platform anything they make it impossible for windows machines to connects reliabily. So now if a teacher has a windows computer they can't connect so they think it's windows fault but it is actually fucking apple. This is what pisses me off about apple so much.17
Hardware of laptops today.
Displays: Glossy screens everywhere. "Hurr durr it has better colors". Idgaf what colors it has, when the only thing I can see is the wall behind me and my own reflection. Make it matte or get it out.
Touchpads: Bring back mechanical buttons. Haptic feedback dying with touchscreens/surfaces is a tragedy. "But we can have bigger touchpad area without buttons" ...why? the goal shouldn't be 1:1 touchpad vs. display ratio. It ain't a bloody tablet.
Docking stations: Some bright fucker figured out that they can utilize USB C. That thing keeps falling out with slightest laptop movement disconnecting all peripherals (guess why microUSB had those small hooks?). Also it doesn't have sufficient throughput, so the 5 years old dock can feed 3 full HD monitors just fine and the new one can't.
Keyboards: Personally I hate chiclet. And it's everywhere, because "apple has it so we must too". But the thing I hate even more is retardation of the arrow keys (up and down merged into size of one key), missing dedicated Home/End/PgDwn/PgUp buttons and somebody deciding the F keys are not needed and started replacing them with some multimedia bullshit.
My overall feeling is that this happens when you give the market to designers and customer demand. You end up with eye candy and useless fancy gadgets, with lowered ergonomy and worse features than previous generations of the same hardware. My laptop dying is my daily nightmare as I have no idea with what on the current market I would replace it.6
Yes - I fucking hate xcode too.
These are the main reasons:-
(1) Why the fuck make people go into Terminal to run pod install to build something? this is absurd.
(2) There are always fucking problems with the provisioining profile - like wrong fucking profile, or expired profile - which fuck wit came up with such a convoluted way of deploying? and then you to have to login to the apple develope and agree to some new fucking terms with some other bull shit crap.
(3) Swift 4 is out when nobody has been learnt swift 3.... What the fuck??
I hate Apple. I’d rather be spied on and buy a new phone every year. Now if I could just find a comfortable position for bending over24
I hate Apple and I hate all their products and I hate everyone that thinks Apple is "innovating" and I don't know why so many developers use OSX when they can use Linux. A closed source company with a closed mind.43
I wish the apple review team shove them white polished apples up their fucking asses
A problem solved over a month ago... Ipv6 works it's tested.
Now you come back with a very specific old iPad on a very specific os and say it doesn't work !?
The topping on this shit (apple) pie? They sent me a screenshot of the issue.
It's a screenshot of the fucking login page. I know what the fucking thing looks like you assholes.
I've sadly been using an iPhone for the past few weeks 😔
I'm a hard core android fan but, well if I'm honest with you I got super high and got amnesia woke up with a dead screen on my android phone so got myself an iPhone since I needed to test an app I'm building , comes to think of it that women twice my age I kissed to piss her off might of broken it .. so my friends say ...
Anyway the point being iphones ... not that bad I'm aware people praise their software but it's to rigid for my liking there's features android has I believe that makes it superior
Cameras are better ... build quality is solid. Can't complain really. My android was a one plus 3 great phone also
I might get the s8 I'm waiting to see if they hold up or the new one plus phone if I find the specs ...
The point is as devs we get so stuck in our ways I consider us generally the most open Minded people but not when it comes to tech we are generally hard core fan boys of one company or another
But in truth, there's a lot of great products out there worth our money even if they are apple ... money grabbing bitches.
I say this because my hate for apple whilst it's still there I can at least respect them a little for certain things especially their phones20
Oh boy do I hate when news stations say that Apple is introducing new emojis in their next update. R.I.P. Unicode Consortium.6
My uncle just got an iPhone 5S and i said him im dissapointed in him he was android user for long time. With custom OS on it.10
After many attempts to fix this, hope this will be the last one. I really hate these apple chargers.15
Last year at the the Xmas party CEO slips in that he wants the app done by end of February, I freak because I thought he meant both iOS and Android (only dev working on both :/), anyways he wanted specifics for locking out specific people that haven't paid for some in-house training (like in app persons just not in the app lol) it required web development which I'm horrible at, I spend a whole week and managed to scrape together the right functions to do a user lock out, pretty all things considering.
A couple weeks before deadline I'm done :D, I've done a lot of testing, some in-house user testing, changes made all bugs visually possible are fixed.
I'm here stuck waiting at a roadblock, developing the Android app sure but for their iOS app that they want released first, I'm stuck on hold, so annoyed, it's not like I can just put on a lawyer hat and just right some shit that says don't use x unless you agree and such.
So annoying, for about 2 weeks I just played games on my phone, I was not expecting to waste that much time lol, I was really expecting the legal stuff to be ready.
Just a side note co-worker and boss that needed to get this legal stuff knew I needed to get this done, since I mentioned it leading up to my completion.
I don't think it'd take too long with Apple when it comes to the review, it's just an update but I wouldn't put my faith in that as an answer. Just hate that I'm on hold, was wanting to finish this app and apply for a new job (nothing against the company more so because I want to go a company where I could get a but of mentoring). But I sit here waiting, working on the Android app, it'd be sad if finish the Android app before their lawyers get back to me with the legal stuff, though Android is a lot easier for me (I did iOS after completing majority of the features they wanted on Android because I was more comfortable working on it).
:/ What a drag
Worst things about being a dev? Boy, this will be a long one!
- Whatever I do, be it hard work or smart work, I feel I am always underpaid.
- Most people who don't know tech feel my job shouldn't take that long. "Oh, a website that should be easy." "Oh, REST services, that's cute!"
- Most people who know a little tech will be like, "Here is the code for this on Google, then why are you charging this much"
- Companies like Microsoft and Apple who are too cool to follow standards.
- Always underpaid!
- The friggin compilers and random environment vars. Sometimes you make no change and the code works on a restart. I mean wtf!
- Having to give/meet deadlines, when we know most of the times things get out of control.
- Having to work for jerks mostly who don't know squat, and can't tell the difference between a CPU and a Wooden box.
- Sometimes I wanna take a break from my laptop(traveling and stuff) , those are the times I get the maximum work load!
- Did I mention we are always underpaid?
- Because of the kind of work I do, finding a girl has been challenging. Where the heck are they!
- We have to stay always updated. Often we deploy something using a framework and the next day we see an update.
- Speaking of updates, I hate having to support for OSes like Microsoft.
- Speaking of OSes, I hate Apple!
- Speaking of Apple, I feel we are underpaid, de javu?
How much would you hate me if I wrote "just kidding" ?3
TW: Opinionated rant is opinionated
The entire hype train about wireless bluetooth accessories is running on a shit-engine instead of steam. Holy flying fuck, I hate all things Bluetooth. Call me a fucking starfish for living under a rock or something, but trading functionality for a minor convenience improvement is totally baseless, in my opinion. And wires are not even that much of a bother, are they?
Wireless mouses, wireless keyboards, wireless speakers, wireless headphones, wireless all the things, because fuck you, cables, amirite? Who needs cables, it’s 2019, amirite?
Yes, because I like having to charge my accessories. When I used to have a wireless mouse and keyboard, I was literally inches away from tossing these pieces of hot steaming shitballs out the window every time i had to change the battery. I’d take a cable any day if I had a choice between changing the battery of a fucking mouse every month or so and a simple wired connection.
Oh, and headphones. Yes, I love to charge my wireless Bluetooth headphones every now and then! Of course I do, because it’s trendy! And who cares about the degrading sound quality and latency issues of shitty Bluetooth connections? Compression? Why should I care about how my music sounds, I listen to MP3s anyway, they’re the superior audio format!
Fuck my life. It’s not becoming any better with manufacturers removing headphone jacks. Or making laptops with only 2 USB ports or something because “my trendy wireless accessories don’t need ports! Are you living in the Stone Age or what?”
Bluetooth is a shitstain if a protocol and should be purged from the market. Fuck it, fuck every manufacturer who makes Bluetooth accessories compulsory with a spikey pole in all holes. And most importantly, skin the folks at Apple alive for not FUCKING IMPLEMENTING APTX IN THEIR STUPID PHONES AND STILL PUSHING THEIR WIRELESS AUDIO ACCESSORIES!44
Fuck safari literally nothing does what it's supposed to do, I have a `document.getElementById('x').innerText = "hello there"` but it sets a totally different element to that text, this is apparently because of display: none although JS should NOT look at css wtf.
There's a whole bunch of these issues but I won't rant about them until I've solved them so I can fully explore the depth of stupidity in safari. If you work for apple and developed WebCore or WebKit, I'm sorry but I hate you and you would be better off shipping with lynx.3
The only reason why I hate Apple products is their proprietary accessories. I've been using a 3rd party iPhone cable for over an year without an issue. Today, this fucking ego-phone decided not to support this data cable anymore.2
Why can't software development just be software development? I hate when laws and politics, etc., get in the way
Look at this, for example: https://arstechnica.com/information...
Apple added some code to make the Chinese government happy, which resulted in a bug, which is stupid!4
I hate Microsoft for not making Office run on Linux. It's the only reason I have to use a fucking MacBook instead of a Linux laptop. No Microsoft, I'm not going to run windows on my laptop. The system ist too much different to my production systems.
I hate Microsoft for not thinking about the consequences of not providing a Linux version. I have to use the fucking Apple Finder in my daily job. I have to buy a thousand dongles to connect anything to my laptop.16
Motherfuck! God I hate xcode worst development environment ever conceived! Have to update it right now to be able to push to my device. Fucking appstore is the worst program ever. How about telling your users what the fuck is going on instead of just sitting there displaying a flash load circle. Gaaaaaahhh I wanted to go home 2 hours ago. Fuck you apple and all you stand for may you rot in the deepest crevices of he'll for all eternity! Fuuuuuck8
When your manager casually mentions that you're(me) going to learn developing apps for iOS, when you obviously have a built in hate for Apple.
You just sit there thinking about how the fuck the situation escalated unexpectedly quick.7
Gorgeous SE215 got its cable broken? Thanks god I have a spare cable they call “Apple Earpods” and I can solder!11
Sometimes I feel like people hate on Windows and Microsoft (and Google, Apple, Facebook, ect) just because it's trendy. 🤷🤷15
First rant ever... But like, I just have to... So I'm at my internship and everythings going good, I'm working on the UI portion for the Android portion of the cross platform Xamarin app, and im just frolicking through my code, making things pretty and usable like a good xaml cow, and then it hits me... The Apple portion...
Now, I have a great computer, love it to death, but it's not an Apple laptop. Which I didn't realize I'd need to have in order to develop a Xamarin app for iOS, but I didn't know that, so as I go up to innocently check off another portion of my daily coding routine, and then I see it. The "please connect your Apple computer to continue". Im here like "...", And suddenly my supervisor comes over and sees my screen blank with my utter look of confusion and he asks why the hell I wasn't working, to which I respond that Xamarin won't let me work with iOS, to which he replies "bullshit, just use the other side of your computer" I'm confused for a second and realize he means my Linux install. So I tell my supervisor politely that that side of my computer isn't an Apple computer and doesn't have an actual licence. This annoys him since he's kind of used to things going his way, so he kind of just angrily/annoyedly says to "get it working" before I clock out... So essentially, I really hate apple for making me have to own an Apple computer to develop for Apple, which I don't really like, since it's not the best computer for me and I'd much rather have a nice bulkier computer that can handle gaming, but yeah, ugh, I'm screwed b/c I don't own an Apple computer... DevRant save me from the cash sucking sadness that is Apple... ;-;
TL;DR: I kinda hate apple for forcing it's devs to own an overpriced piece of hardware to develop their software... And now my supervisor is expecting me to make magic happen by the end of my shift... Which is in 4 hours... Fml11
I wish I could just destroy Apple, and its fucked up IDE!
About the image:
I'm using an array of object ("SearchFilterse") called: searchFilters IT IS A FUCKING ARRAY!
What is XCode complaining about:
completion function requires an array of "SearchFilters" and the variable "searchFilters" is not an array
if xcode could only understand the line just above "completion(result, searchFilters) it will fucking understand that I'm using a goddamn array!
and if I apply its proposed solution it tells me: Cannot use [[SearchFilters]] required is [SearchFilters]
I hate my life :)
Anyone else hate their Macbook Pro 2018? RIGHT after the return policy the speakers start acting like it has fucking tourette's, plus my machine randomly SHUTS DOWN.
Apple Store "Genius": "Yup, we gotta send it in for repair, 10 business days."
10 business days without my work laptop, gee thanks asshole, at least be a little more empathetic about it.
My 2015 Macbook Pro gave me ZERO problems. The only reason why I upgraded was that compiling took forever (React Native).
If I didn't have to work with Xcode I would just sell this thing and buy a PC laptop. (The Surface book looks nice =))11
That feeling when building and testing on android device takes you 5 mins and then you spend 2 days dealing with Apple's bullshit.
Sexy devices and pretty interfaces but they just looove making devs jump through hoops.3
Apple makes fantastic phones with fantastic chips and displays that actually respect your privacy and provide hardware guarantees of doing so. And people find a way to hate that and pretend google is even in the same league let alone better. Well, at least I know how trump won.15
Everyone > I hate cables, they're stupid... why isn't everything wireless by now!?
Apple > Try these EarPods, they're wireless!!
Everyone > These are stupid! I just want to use my wired headphones!3
Inspired by @NoMad. My philosophy is that technology is a means to and ends. We’re a tool oriented species. As it relates to software and hardware, they should be your means to achieve your ends without you needing to think. Think of riding a bicycle or driving a car. You aren’t particularly conscious of them - you just adjust input based on heuristics and reflex - while your doing the activity.
For a long time Software has been horrendously bad at this. There is almost always some setup involved; you need to front-load a plan to get to your ends. Funny enough we’re in the good days now. In the early days of GUI you did have to switch modes to achieve different things until input peripherals got better.
I’ve been using windows from 95 and to this day, though it’s gotten better it’s not trivial to setup an all in one printer and scan a document - just yesterday I had to walk my mother through it and she’s somewhat proficient. Also when things break it’s usually nightmare to fix, which is why fresh installing it periodically is s meme to this day. MS still goes to great lengths with their UI so that most people can still get most of their daily stuff done without a manual.
I started Linux in University when I was offered an intro course on the shell. I’ve been using it professionally ever since. While it’s good at making you feel powerful, it requires intricate knowledge to achieve most things. Things almost never go smoothly no matter how much practice you have, especially if you need to compile tools from source. It also has very little in the ways of safe guards to prevent you from hurting yourself. Sure you might be able to fix it if you press harder but it’s less stress to just fresh install. There is also nothing, NOTHING more frustrating than following documentation to the T and it just doesn’t work! It is my day job to help companies with exactly this. Can’t really give an honest impression of the GUI ux as the distros have varying schools of thoughts with their desktop environments. Even The popular one Ubuntu did weird things for a while. In my humble opinion, *nix is better at powering the internet than being a home computer your grandma can use.
Now after being in the thick of things, priorities change and you really just want to get things done. In 2015 I made the choice to go Mac. It has been one of my more interesting experiences. Honestly, I wish more distros would adopt its philosophy. Elementary only adopted the dock. It’s just so intuitive. How do you install an application? You tap the installer, a box will pop up then you drag the icon to the application folder (in the same box) boom you are done. No setup wizards. How to uninstall? Drag icon from app folder to trash can. Boom done. How to open your app? Tap launch pad and you see all your apps alphabetically just click the one you want. You can keep your frequent ones on the dock. Settings is just another app in launchpad and everything is well labeled. You can even use your printers scanner without digging through menus. You might have issues with finder if your used to windows though and the approach to maximizing and minimizing windows will also get you for a while.
When my Galaxy 4 died I gave iPhone a chance with the SE. I can tell you that for most use cases, there is no discernible difference between iOS and modern android outside of a few fringe features. What struck me though was the power of an ecosystem. My Mac and iPhone just work well together. If they are on the same network they just sync in the background - you need to opt in. My internet went down, my iMac saw that my iPhone had 4g and gave me the option to connect. One click your up. Similar process with s droid would be multi step. You have airdrop which just allows you to send files to another Apple device near you with a tap without you even caring what mechanism it’s using. After google bricked my onHub router I opted to get Apples airport series. They are mostly interchangeable and your Mac and iOS device have a native way to configure it without you needing to mess with connecting to it yourself and blah. Setup WiFi on one device, all your other Apple devices have it. Lots of other cool stuff happen as you add more Apple devices. My wife now as a MacBook, an IPad s d the IPhone 8. She’s been windows android her life but the transition has been sublime. With family sharing any software purchase works for all of us, and not just apples stuff like iCloud and music, everything.
Hate Apple all you want but they get the core tenet that technology should just work without you thinking. That’s why they are the most valued company in the world14
Only company that I really "hate" is Abstergo haha.
All others have their up and downsides I guess....
+ Xbox One
+ iPad Mini (don't know any company that produces such high quality but very small tablets... Therefore I still use my ~6 years old iPad Mini 1. (The battery life is insane! After all this time it still lasts about 6-7 hours!)
- The new iPhones. No innovation. Just making money.
- Smartphones (a few crashes here and there, kinda ugly, explosions!)
+ TVs (webOS is the shit!)
- Heard the Smartphones suck, not sure
And so on....3
I don't mind Apple marketing themselves as these revolutionary thinkers and innovators, because I figured most people see behind the marketing but appreciate Apple for what it is. It's a big company that makes well built products, that are efficient and give good support to those products.
But I'm sick to death of tech journalists talking about how every new feature is the death of Android. They have to be kidding themselves if they think what Apple's doing is innovating. Samsung's been designing screens for the bezelless market for a LONG time, and their technology in that is incredibly advanced (it's why if you use their iPhone x you'll be looking at a screen from Samsung!)
They finally adopted wireless charging and pretended it was brand new, but I remember when they came out with the Apple watch, marketing it like they'd broken ground when Android Wear watches had been out for a year!
I don't want people to think I hate Apple, I own a few of their products. I think they're remarkably invested in user privacy; homekit imo is one of the most forward thinking implementations of smart home technology that I've seen, and the new processor in the iPhone x is a Mammoth powerhouse. So, I'm not necessarily saying anything about that, but what I am saying is that they're iñcredible at marketing, but fanboys but are not self-aware can enough to recognize when the Designed-by-Apple hype over shadows the actual objectivity or the situation. There are articles already talking about Apple's wireless charging.
TL;DR I swear to god if an apple fanboy comes at me saying the bezelless design was Apple's innovation, I'm going to snap. I appreciate what Apple does well, but unfortunately people can't appreciate a product without needing to identify with it.6
The company I used to work for, despite me not working there contacts me to get a verification code because the crappy developer they hired can't change a couple settings on the apple website and add themselves as a developer.
At the start of this all, a couple months back I gave them the code out of courtesy, but at this point, as i'm heavily invested in the development stage of my actual job as a vr developer, I won't take time out of my day to even answer the phone for them.
But what really pisses me off is the person who contacts me, my assumbly best friend, who during the last 12 months has only called me for these codes, so work related shit or just personal shit and never to hang out or play games or generally what we used to do as friends before he got a job at that stupid company doesn't have the balls to tell his boss that i'm busy with my job, that maybe if payment was offered as an incentive that I would be happy to be contacted.
When I left that company I didn't setup anything to make it so they would have to contact me, all I did was add myself as a developer of their app. I also heavily documented everything I did, all the issues I faced and the workarounds I found, and everything including all login information needed to get things working, I went above just "developing" the app I added in all the credits to all work used in the app as partly to make sure we don't get sued for stealing someones work without the right credit.
I hate the fact that I worked for minimum wage and did all of this shit, but I never complained at all about things like the 1 1/2 hour travel time (one way I might add) to my boss, the amount of money I spent on public transportation, the little money left over that I didn't even spend and instead give to my parents.
They know nothing about how hard that year was for me, and if they want to get this code, my so called friend can come chat in person, in his off time and when I'm done working on my own shit and we can discuss terms because this shit is just not fair at all.5
So I hate apple, we were updating an app from a year ago and everything went well until we tried to submit. We kept getting this error about launch screen images for iPhone 5. We tried everything stack overflow had to say but nothing worked, NOTHING.
Here is the thing, we tried to submit the exact same binary on our other Mac, and it worked. LIKE WHAT THE FUCK APPLE.
I've seen a lot of hate to Macbooks and Apple products in general, and although I agree that iphone could be dramatically improved in terms of hardware I think that OSX is the best platform to do Web development.
Which one would you pick and why? Windows, OSX or Linux.28
A toss up between Apple and Microsoft...
Apple I use to love because I used an iPhone exclusively and loved iOS but the more and more I moved into the cloud. The more and more I started hating the lack of online tools like word processing and the like so eventually led me to disliking them but now I hate them exclusively because of there hardware fragmentation, the lack of consistency between there hardware really irritates me...
And Microsoft came from in an instant, I use to love windows and use it exclusively but as soon as I discovered Linux and got my first taste of it through Ubuntu I started hating windows compared to Linux but now I hate the company because of their two faced ways, will state they support the open source community yet only throw actual support when they clearly can't be beaten and give in...
(Can feel the hate coming my way so all good!)3
I hate Apple since they dropped OpenGL and Nvidia support. My question to them:
WHAT THE FUCK IS THE PURPOSE OF DROPPING IT? YOU ARE JUST GETTING MORE HATE10
Facebook. The only reason I still have a FB account is the groups - house rental, student buy\sell groups etc.
Microsoft for Windows 10 - some things are good but generally it really sucks capybara balls (too bad for me - I'm an avid gamer).
Also Asus and Razer for overpricing their shit. And Razer have the most dumbassest names for their products.
Oh and Apple of course - I love their products and I'd love to buy and use some of them, but I hate their scummy policies and customer treatment too much.
I fukin hate App reviews in Apple Store :/ My app, basic cordova webview and Onesignal push, was rejected again! For fifth time! Now for IPv6 in-compatibility.3
Am I the only one worried with the OS wars lately? Microsoft and Apple trying to gain even more control on everything and Linux remaining at less than 2% on the desktop. People are oblivious to the fact that their personal freedom is at risk, and don't you dare tell me otherwise. Companies knowing what we search or what files we have on our computer, having the ability to control us and force us to follow their rules. We have a choice, and I'm not talking about destroying the economical system a la Mr. Robot, but moving to the Open Source world, not because it's more secure, faster or some such shit, but because it's the only way to ensure freedom on one of the biggest part of our lifes, the digital part. My concerns may be exceeding the normal, and I'll hate it to be right, but I'm afraid that if this goes on, in a few years, we'll understand that we made a big mistake...21
I dunno if you gents remember the Nickelodeon show known as Drake and Josh.
It was pretty big in Mexico and the U.S.
Well, one of the characters from that show is the singer/actor Drake Bell.
For a while, Drake Bell would **constantly** tweet about how much Justin Bieber sucks.
I aint denying that Justin Bieber sucks, i don't like his music at all.
But the constant attacks came out as jealousy, at least to me.
What does this has to do with development or even computers? Well this is EXACTLY how I feel about Louis Rossman CONSTANTLY making videos about apple products.
We get it man we really do, sadly for a lot of us the only way to get ios development done is through a fucking Mac
EVEN if his whiny ass is right about the hardware not being top notch and all that shit I AM still not able to explain a 2013(early...as in january) macbook pro still working with literally NO fucking problems. Before that the other macbook was just changed because we wanted the 2013 model. The thing worked, the one before did so too and the 2017 model that I have works, amazingly so i will add.
Still, the army of dell,hp and lenovo laptops that I've had before just died or are not functioning properly. Either it is my shit luck or Apple's "shitty hardware" got something really fucking right.
I think its retarded really. If you don't like them then fine, you don't have to, personally I fucking love all computers and os, but I don't get fanboys hating for the sake of hate.
the fuck you care if I spend 2500 on a computer? I would the same shit for your mom and the computer would last me longer.
Does owning multiple macs make me better than you? No
Does this mean that you are piss poor and can't afford shit and that is why you are hating? No
Will I call you <insert number of insults> gor your choice of pc or os? No
What is retarded is this: you all are DEVELOPERS(at least a good chunk) and your ass better fucking know that some people USE a certain tool because IT IS THE RIGHT ONE FOR THE JOB.
It is a damn fine operating system, a really good computing experience. It ain't your taste? Fine, das cool, but for fucks sake it does not mean that the other people are idiots or whatever.
Grow the fuck up and get yourself an opinion.20
So I'm making an app with a classmate at school, but there's one huge problem. All the PC's and laptops at school are shit. The ICT departement at my school blocks almost everything on them. I can't install any program, open any file and I can't even open the command prompt! So I can't install Visual studio or any other IDE and basically can't do anything besides browse websites that aren't blocked. And they expect me and my classmate to make an app. Fortunately, my classmate has a spare laptop we can use, but it's really difficult for two guys to code on just one laptop. I asked my school if they could buy new laptops or if they could remove they restrictions on two laptops, but they don't want to do any of those things and now we're stuck with just one laptop. I don't know what to do. I fucking hate this!
(This doesn't have anything to do with the topic of the rant, but I just want to complain.)
There are a couple more things I hate about my school. At my school, everyone is forced to use iPads. I don't know why they don't just give us laptops instead of iPads (maybe just because there lazy). So my iPad's headphonejack and homebutton where broken for no reason and I had to get it repaired. But instead of going to an apple store or a repair shop, you need to go to the school's ICT department and get it fixed there. If you don't do that and go to a apple store or something, they will take your iPad and keep it forever! Even though you pay €200 for it every year! Also, the ICT department at my school is lazy as hell! You expect them to repair the iPad themselves, but they just send it to a repair shop. So it wouldn't even matter if I would go to the store myself! 😠 And they even do a really bad job at checking if the device even works after the repair, because I needed to get it repaired three times in a row! And don't even get me started on the bad WiFi connection.11
The thing I hate most about apple is if I were to write an app for iOS for my iPhone using friends I'd have to pay 100€ developer fee and buy a f***ing MacBook. F***ing dictatorial, freedom-hating, money-grabbing, piece of sh*t apple.5
So I really hate iOS programming. I'm in school and all my devices for dev are Microsoft based and fuck trying to use hackintosh. So now I have to waste more of my time and gas money going to school to use the stupid fucking imacs to Develop in a language I have 0 interest in. Fuck apple, fuck iOS, and fuck swift!3
I'm an iOS developer, but I also write Java code at work for our servers. I'm pretty appreciative of multiple technologies / implementations, and don't really participate in religious wars. 99.9% of people at my job are hardcore Java server developers who worship the JVM and hate everything else. I work primarily in objective-c and swift. Hearing them bash Apple as a horrible company (while using a Mac btw) and hailing Java as the greatest language since sliced bread, gets pretty fucking annoying after 2 years. So I decide to participate in their flame wars for once, do some digging, and come across this: https://cs.gmu.edu/~sean/stuff/.... They could not nor would believe the post, because the fact that their precious Java could have borrowed at all from the "terrible" Objective-C / Smalltalk paradigm was too much to bear. Talk about close-minded..1
I hate when Apple news websites do articles on Android. 99% of the time it's pure bullshit coming from someone whose last experience with Android was Gingerbread, if any. 9to5mac is a really bad offender, but so feel TheVerge is extra shitty with Android articles. For someone who claims to do news on everything impartially, they warp their sights towards Apple way too much.
That obviously means that costumers will get scared of leaving Apple for what might be a better experience for their use case. I just absolutely hate this kind of partial journalism.
TL;DR fuck 9to5mac and The Verge for scaring people off using Android with misinformation10
Lots of hate for Apple today on devrant. I go all three ways so I don't really take sides. They all have there purposes.4
YOU FUCKING FUCK APPLE GET YOUR FUCKING SHIT TOGETHER DAMN IT!
Left work 4 hours ago and guess what fucking ipa file did not get uploaded to app store, why? no one fucking knows! I admit 4Mbit speed isn't fast but if a tiny interruption happens to the mac's connection apploader will simply drop the upload!
I don't understand NASA was able to reach Mars and Apple fails to make a fucking decent file uploader !!!!
Now I will be going to waste two fucking hours tomorrow morning for the fucking file to be uploaded!
My mother asked me to help her with her iPhone and (old) Mac
Her iPhone didn't synchronise her photos anymore, it showed a message saying her iPhone is locked (it wasn't)
So after searching a bit I asked her when this problem showed up.
apparently, she tried synching her iPhone for the first time since she upgraded to my sisters iPhone 5s.
I found out that osx 10.6.8 and ios 10.x.x don't like each other...
In the midst of all this I-hate-Apple fallout, I really just wanna rant because the default computer in the avatar builder is an Apple mock. Just saying 😂😂😂5
Xcode 9 is now officially out, will I be writing new types of rants OR will I be saying sorry to Apple for all those Xcode hate rants I wrote.
Tomorrow is a new day :)4
Someone hates apple for macbook keyboard sound. I hate apple for poor-quality anti-reflective coating on the screen, which is erased gradually when my laptop is closed.
P.s. macbook pro retina mid2014 13'2
I really just hate Apple development. Xcode blows hard ass and if you are a person like me who has 0 Apple devices and has to go to the fucking school labs to code then why wouldn't you hate apple development. It's really the lack of being able to code outside a fucking Mac cause its just pointlessly limiting, fuck you Apple.13
I'm thinking of buying a new laptop. But I'm sad about leaving all of these stickers (yeah I know they're pretty random)
also, should I get a macbook or not? I really like the OS but I hate it's pricetag. But i heard Apple supports their products for more than 5 years and this laptop of mine is just 3 and a half years old and it's slowing down already even on 16gb memory. IntelliJ used to run smoothly on this.
Can u guys suggest a developer friendly laptop? im not really into gaming so I wouldn't need gaming one 👨💻7
I was once again able to get the feeling of "I need something, so why not just make it", and it made me remember why i love programming
So, last night i was in my bed, about to fall asleep when i started to wonder: how much has my ZEC miner mined today, and how much is the payout going to be
i then took macBook from my nightstand, (Yes, i was a apple hater, now i only hate iOS) and started imiteadly typing, took like 15 mins and i had a working python script ready to push to my repo
past 2 weeks, i have been ON FIRE and made so many python thingies, also i made a quick and dirty chrome extension to retrieve a api key from cookies because the api to ket the key normally was fucked up
MacBook Usb power is 500mA if I plug an Android and 2000mA for iphone... I hate it, anyone knows if this can be controlled? The usb ampers? Or is another Apple "feature"4
Here it comes! The annual Mac Os X upgrade, fuckup and clean install! 48 hours of thrilling hoping to get things done and lovely boot piano sound three times in a row!
Hope you burn, motherfuckers. Burn and suffer at least the same amount of hours (days!) I've been trying to fix your cheesy, crappy, weak silver garbage. I have lumps in my back which lasts longer than your technology. Go kernel panic your greedy narrow view asses.5
Apple breaks applications with every update and its newest OSes are fucking infested exponentially with problems. Colleagues at work updated to "High (on coke) Sierra" and major apps aren't working. And one of my colleagues' laptop now restarts continuously with the screen closed.
I hate their model of major releases for minor shit. No fucking concern whatsoever for what bridges they burn along the way.
Every update feels like one step deeper into a bog of uselessness where finally the machine will be obsoleted arbitrarily in the shit-running-down-its-leg race to the bottom.
My spouse hasn't upgraded her laptop's OS since she bought it because she has become suspicious over time, despite not being a "computer person", that Apple will eventually slow her machine down to an unusable state. She doesn't want shit to break or perform worse, but that's basically the theme of each update.
Watching the iPhone X reveal was just a series of letdowns. If that's the most influential thing they came up with after X years of research, well that is fucking sad.
I like Apple up to 2008. The white Macbook was the last good looking thing they made, IMO.
They're not even trying to hide their unimaginative strategy of planned obsolescence.
Get on the fucking LTS train like every other reasonable OS vendor. Go back to your philosophy of "it just works" and "think different" instead of "it just looks like it works".
What does the company represent these days?
I'll use a retro Mac product and love it and take good care of it.. but using a Mac today is like watching television.. it doesn't get me excited at all to use their computers.
My 2008 mbp running Linux with a colorful desktop window theme, custom icons, animated mouse pointer, interesting system sounds, predictable app behavior, high system stability, noninvasive update strategy, now that's fun to use.1
Some people were talking about IPhones and I calmly stated that Apple should catch up, and somebody behind me that I hate said "Android should catch up".
I could not help but laugh out loud.
I then looked it up, but didn't show him the specs between these phones:
FUCK XCODE. FUCK AUTOLAYOUT. I have been working on my app for eight months, perfecting every detail and making the UI absolutely stunning. Today, Apple rejected my app for not supporting iPad. My app was not supposed to support iPad, I would hate for a user to install on an iPad. So, I said whatever and tried to autolayout the app. This didn't work, so I turned off autolayout. Guess what. My entire layout was destroyed and when I tried to click the undo button, nothing happened. This is classic Xcode. I am so fucking pissed, I want to scream. I just lost months of hard work because they can't fucking get their developer tool working, but they can release a phone with no headphone jack.4
For all my life is have had inherent hate for Apple and its devices, especially mobile devices and their userbase
Few weeks back, i got my hands on a MacBook air.
While I'm still dislike iOS, i really gotta say that it like the "fluidity" if macOS
First time in used it, i somehow knew exactly how to do what i need to (expect right click and some KB shortcuts ( damnit CMD key))
Well, at least i now have experience and know how of alla 3 major os environments1
Few months ago: Need a new Macbook, I'll just buy the cheap 128GB and replace the ssd myself...
I hate myself as much as I hate Apple now1
To the people who so blindly hate apple: Name my other choices...
Winblows is a bloated system with no real package manager, i can't stop their endless updates, it gets viruses so easily, that you have to install an antivirus, and i hate their flat design, and linux is for haX0r kids who wanna look cool, it's just not practical for personal use.15
Is it possible to like macOS, not like Apple hardware, like Apple's advertised company ethos and not like their back-office policies all at the same time?1
Ok so I tried apple
And I hate it. The only Apple product I loved was iPod Shuffle that small little dumb box... That was love
And now, for the iPhone, I will now continue hating it. How do you guys manage to like it? I'm fucking stuck on making an Apple ID since morning. It is fucking showing a hell lot of errors one by one as I go on trying
BTW good news coming up after 2hrs11
I kinda hate brand bias, when people don't have an open mind when judging new products.
some people are ready, up late, waiting for next apple keynote just so they have stuff to rip off.
"animoji is so pointless"
then don't use it buddy :)
"apple tracks you"
"apple product limits you, google products allow you to do a lot more"
- apple iphone:
· download apps
· surf the web
· make calls and send texts
· do things offline
· use the native devRant app
· browse the fucking web
· there's a fucking 'write protect' screw in the motherboard so you can't fuck anything up
(yes I know, generally android is more customizable, but you'd expect more from a laptop over a computer)
I'm not an apple fanboy, I could make this rant about android hate, too, but because a product isn't for you doesn't mean it's not for everyone.6
During my small tenure as the lead mobile developer for a logistics company I had to manage my stacks between native Android applications in Java and native apps in IOS.
Back then, swift was barely coming into version 3 and as such the transition was not trustworthy enough for me to discard Obj C. So I went with Obj C and kept my knowledge of Swift in the back. It was not difficult since I had always liked Obj C for some reason. The language was what made me click with pointers and understand them well enough to feel more comfortable with C as it was a strict superset from said language. It was enjoyable really and making apps for IOS made me appreciate the ecosystem that much better and realize the level of dedication that the engineering team at Apple used for their compilation protocols. It was my first exposure to ARC(Automatic Reference Counting) as a "form" of garbage collection per se. The tooling in particular was nice, normally with xcode you have a 50/50 chance of it being great or shit. For me it was a mixture of both really, but the number of crashes or unexpected behavior was FAR lesser than what I had in Android back when we still used eclipse and even when we started to use Android Studio.
Developing IOS apps was also what made me see why IOS apps have that distinctive shine and why their phones required less memory(RAM). It was a pleasant experience.
The whole ordeal also left me with a bad taste for Android development. Don't get me wrong, I love my Android phones. But I firmly believe that unless you pay top dollar for an android manufacturer such as Samsung, motorla or lg then you will have lag galore. And man.....everyone that would try to prove me wrong always had to make excuses later on(no, your $200_$300 dllr android device just didn't cut it my dude)
It really sucks sometimes for Android development. I want to know what Google got so wrong that they made the decisions they made in order to make people design other tools such as React Native, Cordova, Ionic, phonegapp, titanium, xamarin(which is shit imo) codename one and many others. With IOS i never considered going for something different than Native since the API just seemed so well designed and far superior to me from an architectural point of view.
Fast forward to 2018(almost 2019) adn Google had talks about flutter for a while and how they make it seem that they are fixing how they want people to design apps.
You see. I firmly believe that tech stacks work in 2 ways:
1 people love a stack so much they start to develop cool ADDITIONS to it(see the awesomeios repo) to expand on the standard libraries
2 people start to FIX a stack because the implementation is broken, lacking in functionality, hard to use by itself: see okhttp, legit all the Square libs, butterknife etc etc etc and etc
From this I can conclude 2 things: people love developing for IOS because the ecosystem is nice and dev friendly, and people like to develop for Android in spite of how Google manages their API. Seriously Android is a great OS and having apps that work awesomely in spite of how hard it is to create applications for said platform just shows a level of love and dedication that is unmatched.
This is why I find it hard, and even mean to call out on one product over the other. Despite the morals behind the 2 leading companies inferred from my post, the develpers are what makes the situation better or worse.
So just fuck it and develop and use for what you want.
Honorific mention to PHP and the php developer community which is a mixture of fixing and adding in spite of the ammount of hatred that such coolness gets from a lot of peeps :P
Oh and I got a couple of mobile contracts in the way, this is why I made this post.
And I still hate developing for Android even though I love Java.3
Post a rant and apologize cause he's using windows. What the heck is wrong with people here ? This trend is so annoying. Stop it you sheeps you have no reasons to love or hate any OS just following others to look cool. It's not cool unless you're in middle school. And those same guys mock apple fan boys the truth is you're no different. "Yours is shit coz mine iz z best".6
Dude in my Calc 2 class just bitched about iPhones having "shitty software" referencing that bug from around ~6 years ago, when a specific iMessage text would reboot your phone. IMO, 99% of what Apple does well is software. UI is subjective, but final cut pro is unbelievable in terms of functionality for its price, their software is so well optimized that iPhones have been able to use comparably tiny batteries and still compete. They are consistent throughout their company with software design, while companies like Google are so stratified it took years before their material design had been implemented in all their services, there are still a few that aren't (not to mention the meme of Google killing off all their projects). I hate tablets, but the iPad pro has the best software/hardware implementation of any I've ever seen. Apple's interconnectivity between devices is unbelievable, whether it's Continuity features or the setup process just recognizing group devices around and pulling data to create consistent account info and saving you taps. Siri is shit, but apart from that their software isn't bad enough that you should complain about that instead of...
Their Macs are fucking pressure-cookers, and their fuckin marketing department is like a different company all-together, and their anti-fix-it-yourself policies are so user hostile that they're toe-to-toe with being as abusive to customers as Oracle.
TL;DR the biggest scam Apple has pulled off is not that the sheep still think Android and PC users are living in 2010, but they've convinced the sheep that they know what shitty software is. At that point they're too many levels deep and there is no red-pill strong enough for them.2
I need a new laptop at work. Money isn't really a problem but it should at least meet the following specs:
14" 1080 bright ips screen
Small form factor, this is very important
Good keyboard and Touchpad. I really hate Apple style keyboards, they hurt my fingers.
Quad core coffee lake, i5 should be fine
>=7 hours of battery life.
Be able to run Linux without any major issues
12-16 GB RAM, preferably upgradable but I think that is impossible these days.
>=256GB ssd, upgradable.
Graphics card is unimportant.
Quiet operation for easy tasks such as coding or web browsing.
I/O is not that important as long as it has hdmi and USB B and C.
Bonus : Small power adapter
It feels like I have looked everywhere for such a machine but I can't find any that is good. There is always compromises.3
How Microsoft expect anyone to develop using any technology they introduce with so many limitations.
Moi a Microsoft dumb enthusiast said to myself : hey dude you are a developer stop whining about the app gap bust a move create decent array of apps and release them, went into a full project management mode wrote requirements did sketches and some prototypes, time to execute.
1. first app: image files organizer, viewer , with some light editor capabilities and album creator after some work i came to discover that you don't have a proper file system APIs to show a folder tree view in my app "WTF" there are work arounds and dirty solutions but seriously? i can only access the stupid media folders created by Microsoft and that's it.
so i ditched the apps until uwp become a development tools with target audience other than kids who eat crayons, and while using "Edge" i thought to my self : "you know what dude extensions are cool and if you do something like a speed dial it would be awesome"
fire up my text editor started writing my extension to discover that:
"you cannot use localStorage from local HTML files".
moral of the story
MS is failing with consumers not because people hate MS but rather MS hates itself like no engineer over there said to him self this is fking stupid ?
other limitations :
no proper system tray access
no registry access what so ever
and i have started 2 days ago.
yeah Ms this is the main app gap problem the uwp sucks big time. compared to android Java which has a great access to every aspect of the device even apple provide better APIs for their systems.
if uwp is MS future then rip MS.
please i stand corrected if anyone knows better.2
I hate Windows and I hate Dell.
Apple fucking extorts you but at least it fucking works. macOS works, great UI, unix-like, NO FUCKING INTRUSIVE UPDATES
Did your mac break? We'll replaced, no problem.
Fuck, some company should try to be serious competition to Apple. I'd love to see that day, but untill them I unfortunately have to come back to apple, again and again. Fucking shit.16
The ignorant (Apple) hate-threads are getting dull. Most arguments are ignorant, outdated and irrelevant. I own my own company and all we use are Macs and iPhones. We have never had any issues with the OS on either devices. /rant4
Its funny whenever i see an apple fanboy use the note 7 as a reason to switch. A few iPhones in the past exploded too.
No hate to apple users in general, im talking about the hardcore fans.3
So I got the new macbook pro 15 with touchbar .... this is my first macbook that I have ‚issues‘ with.
* the new butterfly keaboard doesnt feel as good as the old one
* ... abd its friggin loud!
* the keyboard backlight just randomly drops out and forces me to cold reboot WTF??
* they bigger left/right cursor buttons make it so hard to feel where you are, that I constantly confuse up and down
* the touchbar is basically unusable for a keyboard centric person like me. It forces me too look down to the keys!
* I constantly hit the esc bc im used to have one finger there to hit it if needed, but now im forced to hover it bc otherwise it is pressed
* and why of fucking why did apple remove magsafe??? Now i dont even see anymore if is is being charged without turning the screen on
* i hate the usb ports too, why not even add a free usbc to usba port? (Well, i guess bc it would make the macbook even more expensive... free wouldnt be free anyway i guess)
It is way more powerful though, but the time i would buy a personal one is over and will probably never come back.
Im a happy hackintosh user btw 😅4
FFS people. If you're going to ditch the Mac App Store (because Apple sucks, I'm such programmer I need to hate it) when releasing your software, get your installers right. ESPECIALLY if it's paid software.
Some people choose not to work on their systems with an admin user all the time. So don't assume your shitty installers will have sudo privileges.
I'm looking at you Atom and Paw.
I swear by all that is binary when I see Siri I’m going to curb stomp that skank. She single handedly makes me want to toss my iPhone X (which is heavy) into an Apple store window then pick it up to ask for assistance with a representative. I hate having to say “hey Siri!” just so she can take her sweet ass time to answer me. When I speak she fucking deaf and misinterprets what I say 80% of the time. English is my native language. I have to talk like a robot for her to get me. Alexa I’ve noticed works faster and more accurate. Siri take note!2
Am I the only one who thinks that Apple loves fucking over its developers? Besides for the yearly fee, they seem to release iPhones with drastically different screen dimensions, which forces devs to make their apps compatible with a new layout. I can't imagine the nightmare this causes for devs of games, which often have custom UIs.
First we have the change to a taller screen dimension for absolutely no fucking reason, then there was a display size increase, and now there's curved corners and the top of the display extends on both sides but not the middle.
That last bit must make for some really fucked up design decisions. Who the fuck thought that a partial screen would be a good idea? Screens would cost a ton more and would be substantially harder to replace. Not to mention how screen protectors will be less likely to stay on...
IMO this is just as bad as Android version fragmentation. 😒2
When your weekend starts with: ahh just gonna chill and test my apps background-fetch mode and realizing it dont work with async requests and silent push-notifications, spending the weekend adding syncronious requests for silent push. Why does apple hate developers??
A lot had changed in computing over the last few years. One thing people seem to HATE for varying reasons. I personally don't mind, since they won't be going away and I can handle their little screwups when they happen. But now EVERYONE is doing it. Apple, Google, Microsoft, and their partners have ushered this in era where machine control is placrd in the hands of the OS developers. What I find funny about that is that they say they are doing it to help less tech-savvy people stay safe, yet a good portion of problems people ask me about come right after a forced upgrade. Come on! If you're gonna do it, at least make it worth the problems!
I hate sketch, not because it's an Apple only product, but because it's horrible to navigate. I couldn't imagine using it with out a side scrolling mouse, and none of the "normal" keyboard shortcuts work. The plugins are horrible and almost always cause more problems then they fix.
But the biggest issue, and this may be the designers that I work with, but I'm not sure. The files are huge. The smallest file I have worked with was 80mb, yesterday I received a file that was almost 1gb! It had every page, with all the text, in every size, it was insane, I turned the job down based on that alone. It had a decent budget, but the client expected way too much. And the designs for each page were different, which as we know can cause issues for the overall UX.
The screenshot is from my PC as I don't have my OS X VM fired up right now, but that's a real file, just shown with XD.2
Okay recently I've seen more and more hate towards Apple.
So this got me curious why is Apple so bad according you guy?
I mean they are just sticking at their founding rules and kept it ever since.5
A FuckFace guy today did this
FuckFace and I both hate Apple
FuckFace hates Apple blindly and hates everything related to Apple and can't even justify shit
I hate Apple for their stupid decisions
Then we meet a guy who is a friend of our boss I started to tell him how I don't like apple and I leave the conversation
FuckFace enters the conversation stupidly makes some fucking stupid comments make the other guy angry and now our boss is telling us shit about how we should not do this and not do fucking that
I had nothing to do with this shit I am gonna stab FuckFace tomorrow
So in our CS community specially from where I come from ($ecurity) people, we have long debate about how Linux is superior from those Mac and other Apple line ups
I mean I use Linux everyday as my primary OS for CTF for coding and basically everything.
But can we fucking for once acknowledge that Mac people have better UI than us?
Like go to the gnome theme store for god sake we have fucking top 10 filled with various kinds of flavors of apple UI from icons of la capitaine to mc cruise gtk3 themes
But still people blindly hate everything about apple
I mean I hate their overpriced ass and other stuff too but the UI IS SAUCE
Linux peeps no hate though
Apple peeps you guys are going to tangle in your dongle's one day 😊9
I'd like to ask peoples opinions on building cross platform apps. So basically I'm on windows, and these insatiably annoying project leads (I fell for the "you code make me an app" one) want it to be cross platform. My first thought was PWAs, but then read that apple are dicks and some of the most important features are not actually supported (#!@?). So then it's ionic or Cordova, but who likes CSS? Or Angular 2? And for a native experience, I'd want to follow both iOS and android design patterns in the same codebase which is way beyond my pay grade. React native comes from Facebook, so I already hate it. Should I just build an android app and cross the iOS bridge later or build a not very native feeling, not vertically centred cross platform Cordova thing? Anyone who's had experience using Cordova care to comment on their successes / failures?13
