As a long-time iPhone user, I am really sorry to say it but I think Apple has completed their transition to being a company that is incompetent when it comes to software development and software development processes.
I’ve grown tired of hearing some developers tell me about Apple’s scale and how software development is hard and how bugs should be expected. All of those are true, but like most rules of law, incompetence and gross negligence trumps all of that.
I’m writing this because of the telugu “bug”/massive, massive security issue in iOS 11.2.5. I personally think it’s one of the worst security issues in the history of modern devices/software in terms of its ease of exploitation, vast reach, and devastating impact if used strategically. But, as a software developer, I would have been able to see past all of that, but Apple has shown their true incompetence on this issue and this isn’t about a bug.
It’s about a company that has a catastrophic bug in their desktop and mobile platforms and haven’t been able to, or cared to, patch it in the 3 or so days it’s been known about. It’s about a company, who as of a view days ago, hasn’t followed the basic software development process of removing an update (11.2.5) that was found to be flawed and broken. Bugs happen, but that kind of incompetence is cultural and isn’t a mistake and it certainly isn’t something that people should try to justify.
This has also shown Apple’s gross incompetence in terms of software QA. This isn’t the first time a non-standard character has crashed iOS. Why would a competent software company implement a step in their QA, after the previous incident(s), to specifically test for issues like this? While Android has its issues too and I know some here don’t like Google, no one can deny that Google at least has a solid and far superior QA process compared to Apple.
Why am I writing this? Because I’m fed up. Apple has completely lost its way. devRant was inaccessible to iOS users a couple of times because of this bug and I know many, many other apps and websites that feature user-generated content experienced the same thing. It’s catastrophic. Many times we get sidetracked and really into security issues, like meltdown/spectre that are exponentially harder to take advantage of than this one. This issue can be exploited by a 3 year old. I bet no one can produce a case where a security issue was this exploitable yet this ignored on a whole.
Alas, here we are, days later, and the incompetent leadership at Apple has still not patched one of the worst security bugs the world has ever seen.79
Apple rejected my app, because they throught there was a frickin Windows phone on my loading screen.
How insecure can you be?29
IOS SUCKS!! SWIFT SUCKS !! OBJECTIVE-C SUCKS!! SUCK MY DICK APPLE YOU PIECE OF SHIT !! Why did you have to make the language sooo counter intuitive, and so different from the popular languages you pain in the ass piece of shit, Why can't I throw exceptions from a constructor of a class?? Why do I have to use a fucking struct to just throw exceptions?? Can't class constructions fail you peice of shit?? huh? GOD DAMN IOS MAGGOT DEVELOPERS IF I EVER RUN INTO THOSE FUCKERS IM GONNA FUCKING RAPE EM BURN THEM ALIVE AND HAVE THEM FOR DINNER67
I'm not an iOS expert, I just wanted to get Google ads on my iOS app so that I could make a few petty dollars at the expense of my users. Is that too much to ask?
I started by following Google's instructions: install cocoapods, copy and paste some swift code... Compile failed, app broke. Carefully retrace my steps. Nothing.
Stackoverflow (praise be with them) suggests upgrading Xcode. Go to app store and click to upgrade Xcode. No progress bar, no status updates, just that pissy little spinner for several minutes. I become impatient try a few more times. It ain't happening.
Stackoverflow (holy of holies, defender of the weak) points me to an alternate source for Xcode, on the app store dev console. 4GB and some time later, an attempt to unzip gives "unknown error". Genocide of sorts.
Stackoverflow (all that is pure, all that is kind, all... I think you get it) says upgrade your OS. I tried months ago but I had issues with that pissy little spinner. Persist. 5GB and a "heavy-year" of time later (sorry), it installs. Then Xcode installs. Then bar a few errors, the app compiles.
So after almost 24 hours, life resumes. The lesson.. respond to all obscure iOS errors by upgrading. If fully upgraded, calmly acquire a baseball bat and destroy your machine. Make sure you have a good book nearby in case of either event.
Thank you for reading my rant. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to pay Apple
$150 so that I may list my app in the app store.11
When you try to become over smart with Apple.
Client :- Ask for all user information in registration screen.
Me :- But Apple rejects app if you ask for personal information you don't need. We shouldn't ask it since Apple will reject the application
Client :- "I am more strict than Apple", just do it.
Me :- But...
Client :- Do it!
Developed the app, uploaded on Apple Store for review and the app got REJECTED!!
Reason for rejection :- Don't ask for personal information you don't need !!!
Me :- (Evil laughs)
It's been more than 15 days now, the app is still under review due to multiple other violations already informed by me.
Moral :- Listen to developers, they have more experience than you or DO THE F*****G RESEARCH !!
True story !!!!7
A client refused to pay for a hybrid mobile app because he said that he only needed the android version.
After publishing the app he asked if we could submit it on the Apple store because he now wanted the iOS version as well.11
Me(m) vs Apple(a)
m - hey apple!
m - apple?
a - oh yeah, who are u?
m - umm, titan?
a - titan who?
m - titanlan- .. umm nevermind . hi , i am a developer :D
a - developer ? hah.. get out.
m - but wait, I want to develop apps for you! I have been developing android apps for last one year and i love mobile dev! wanna talk more on this ?
a - umm.. ugh ok. so you wanna develop apps?
m- yes!, i am doing great at java an-..
a- yeah wait. we don't have that in here. we use swift
m -Oh. no worries , the principles are the same i will watch some free youtube vids and have a plugin for studio or vsco-..
a- yeah wait you can't do that too.we don't have plugins
m - Really, no plugin? then where do people develop ios apps?
m - Oh , how stupid of me , an IDE of course. anyways i can simply install it in my windows or linux an-..
a - nope, you can't do that.
m - what? then where does it run?
m -Oh, then surely you might have some distro or-
a - nope, buy a mac. pass $3000
m- wha-? i just want to run your bloody IDE!
a- oh honey, your $3000 will be totally worth it, you will love it!
m- but i haven't even started making an app, leave alone publishing it.
a- oh, that will cost you another $100 . plus if you wanna test your apps, make sure it runs in our latest , fragile iphones otherwise we won't publish it. that will cost another $1500
m- what? but I already have a fine , high tech laptop and a smartphone!
a- yeah you can dump that
FML. how the fuck is apple living and thriving? lots of selfish motives and greeds i guess? because i don't see a single place where they are using the word "free" or "cheap" .26
In case anyone was wondering if Apple ever actually tests updates during review, they do. Sometimes, apparently, they also use devRant with the provided test account. Hopefully their rant/comment quality improves, but they are trying!!10
me: "Hey Apple? Your light default theme in xcode is burning my retinas."
apple: "use civic"
me: "OK... let's take a look..."
when you dark theme, you dark theme all the way. they literally forgot to add dark theme where it needs it the most. and no, you can NOT customize that.17
Boss: We need this update deployed and propagated before end of day.
Boss: what's the matter?
iOS: 2-3 business days, sir.
Apple and its app review process. Ugh!7
Is there any practical reason why we can't develop native iOS on a non Apple mashine?
I'm tired of having to use my sisters old shitty MacBook Air while my new XPS 15 is dusting up 😡😡😡31
I googled "fuck apple" and ended up here... so yeah fuck this piece of shit company with shitty overpriced cancer inducing products. Xcode is the worse garbage I've ever seen in my life. For a company that masturbates to their superior design well they can eat a fat dick cause its horrible. Everything this fucking company does makes me waste my time. Add a fucking notch to their displays, retarded app store process, makes you workaround to install latest OS on older machines, hide options in convoluted interface, everything, make you feel like your 12 again and living with your parents. fuck them. fuck apple fan boys. fuck tim cook. fuck kids that jack off to iphones fuck you if you own a macbook and drink at starbucks . this is the last fucking ios app I ever make. bye28
Hey everyone - earlier tonight a surprise change in the Apple subscription API response caused devRant++ members on iOS to temporarily lose their supporter status. All should be restored now, and within the next day supporter start date for all community members in this group will be reset back to the correct start time.
We appreciate all of your support very much and apologize for this issue - I have to do some investigation into how this change happened and if there was any warning.
Sister: (she must migrated from iOS to android) you can download these apps and then you can change like colors and themes and everything 😍😱😵
Me: Yeah off course you can...?
Sister: Oh not, oh no, you're not going to tell me you've been able to do this for years?!?
Me: Uhm... Yes...?
Not an apple hate rant, just found the convo funny!6
Users: “It’d be nice if notifications were all pretty and organized...”
Android: “You got that, buddy!”
Me: Great iOS app is only 20MB shouldn't take long to upload!
I cried T_T7
Spent 6 days, trying to get a navbar to stick in my iOS webapp while scrolling, no way to get it done.
This morning I installed iOS update 11.3, problem solved without changing a single line of CSS...
FUCK YOU APPLE5
I'm not sure how many people on here would care about this since it's not strictly a dev issue, but just thought I'd let everyone know, iOS default apps can now be deleted on iOS 1020
Tomorrow will be the FOURTH FUCKING DAY spent trying to get this piece of shit iOS simulator to not crash the app.
I’VE TRIED EVERYTHING.
FUCK APPLE. FUCK XCODE. FUCK IOS😠😤😠😤😠😤😠😤😠😤
Steve Jobs was a twat, and the IPhone X garbage piece of technology15
when you're in a iOS programming class and for the 3rd week in a row we aren't coding. I don't give a flying fuck about steve jobs or apple as a company or their philosophy. Im here to code, not for a fucking history lesson.
I don't like stickers on my laptop because it clutters it up. But today I realized the importance of them.
A few months ago I was sitting at a coffee shop working on a paper and I noticed a guy with this cool sticker on a MacBook Pro: it had the integral symbol to the left of the Apple logo, and to the right of it a lowercase d and another Apple logo. It took me a few hours to realize what it meant, but I finally did and at that point I also guessed that not many people know what it is.
So I, as antisocial as I am, I finish up my work and before I leave I walk up to him and say hi. At this point I'm a senior in high school and I learn he's a junior in the same college I plan to attend. We talked a little before I had to leave and got to know each other somewhat.
After I leave I find him on Instagram and Facebook and friend him and such.
Recently I posted a picture saying I had recently joined the Apple Developer Team, and also recently reposted a memory on Facebook from 5 years ago that was a screen capture of an iPhone 4 simulator running iOS 5 showing off one of my first apps.
Then yesterday I get a message from the guy I met at the coffee shop asking for some help with an iOS project he's working on. We decide to meet today and I spend the entire morning showing him the basics of Swift, Xcode, Interface Builder, etc. I feel like I really helped him jumpstart his app and helped him understand the basics of different concepts.
If he didn't have that integral sticker on his laptop I would have never had this opportunity to finally share some iOS development experience.
For this I would like to thank my high school calculus teacher, with whom I spent many classes at Starbucks because I was an only student. I'd like to thank laptop stickers, and finally I would like to thank the coffee shop.
TL;DR: Said hi to a guy with an integral sticker on his laptop, a few months later he approaches me for help understanding iOS development.2
Turns out apple doesn't allow apps that use GPS on iPads without a GPS module. Decent idea, 100% undocumented. One stack overflow answer, zero upvotes.2
So I'm going to get married next june. I made an app for the guests where they have all information available, can send music wishes and can share images of the wedding with other guests.
Here is my story on publishing it in the App Store:
Me: "Hey Apple, I made a small app for my wedding. Mind putting it in your store?"
Apple: "Yeah, whatever" *publishes it*
One month later:
Me: "I made really small changes, please take this update."
Apple: "Ha no, its not interessting for enough people." *rejects it*
I panic, because the app is mentiont in the invites to the wedding which are already printed.
So one day later:
Me: "Ok ok, I added a button in the intro where people can send me a mail if they are interested in using the same app for their wedding."
Apple: "That changes everything! We will accept the update."
I'm happy, that they accepted it in the end, but really?!? There are so many shit apps in the store, why do you reject any not-fart app, because it is not interesting enough??? And why the fuck do you accept it in the first place?15
WWDC was last night. Joined my companies "iOS" slack channel this morning expecting to see lots of activity about SwiftUI, Combine, Federated Login, New iPad updates ... but no. The only comment
"Does anyone else feel like the event artwork is lazy and uninspired?"
... I am just fundamentally in the wrong company12
Just switched to an iPhone after being on Android since Gingerbread. First thing I've done is lock down iCloud almost entirely and use Google's apps. Things are swell.9
Fuck apple and their fucking certificates for ios development. What a way to make a dev's life worse.8
Apple flips the bird to devs again...
So I go to release a new version of my app (critical updates and bug fixes from mgmt) and I had just updated my phone. Yeah, that was a fucking mistake.
“This version of Xcode is not compatible with the new version of iOS.”
Ok... update Xcode...
“The new version of Xcode is not compatible with your version of OSX”
WTF?! This version isn’t that old? Fine... update OSX. 5 hours later...
“Hey, just wanted to let you know that we decided to break every one of your web development tool setting and basically nothing works on your computer now, oh yeah, and we’re Apple so FUCK YOU.”8
I want to share with the DevRant community that after a lot of work; today my first IOS app was accepted and published on the App Store.
What a historic day!9
iOS 11. New technology. New innovation. New OS.
(What I mean is that Apple finally added support for GIFs in the native photos app)7
Managers here talking about 'Apple versus Android'. I'm tempted to ask them about 'Samsung versus iOS' 😁🤣5
--- iOS-Jailbreak-AppStore "Cydia" shuts down ---
This Friday, Jay Freeman, the maintainer of the iOS-Jailbreak-AppStore "Cydia", announced that he will shut-down his services.
"Cydia" is a app store for people that jailbreaked their iPhones and allows them to buy and download apps. Apple's AppStore doesn't allow jailbreaked apps, that's the reason it was created in 2009.
Jay Freeman, also known as "Saurik", explained that he wanted to shut down the service at the end of 2018 anyways.
Now, a recent security issue, threatening the data of all users, caused that the store no longer existed with immediate effect.
In addition to the security issue, "Cydia" was said to be no more profitable.
To calm you breakers down: Previous purchases can still be downloaded!
The software itself will continue to exist, but without a back-end for payments and stuff like that. Users are still able to do payments through third-party repositories, which already happened anyway, so that lowers the impact of the shut-down.
Just like "Cydia", other services are shutting down too.
One of the three big Cydia-repositories, ModMyi, said they wont allow any new apps and archived all existing ones.
ZodTTD and MacCiti will also be discontinued.
"Bigboss" is the only repository remaining.
Jailbreaks just lost their popularity over the last years. There's still no jailbreak for iOS 11! This shows that Apple is getting better and better at preventing jailbreaks.
On the other hand, it shows that the need for jailbreaks is not quite as high anymore and therefore the developers don't spend too much energy for breaking up iOS anymore.
Did you use Cydia, or any of the other services? Write us in the comments!
Thanks for reading!12
iOS 11 you buggy piece of shit!
Layouts breaking all around, can’t figure out if it’s in landscape or portrait mode, lock menu disapearing, minimizing apps breaks them...
Oooh, you invented a GENIUS NEW option to turn mobile data on from launch control, but WiFi and Bluetooth buttons don’t turn these off, but disconnect from current network... WHOSE SMART ASS IDEA WAS THAT? BURN IN UX HELL ASSHOLE!
Haven’t seen a worse update since Vista...6
can this company and OS please please die already21
Even Apple believes that Xcode suggestions are not reliable... 😂😂😂
(From App Development with Swift book in iBooks Store from Apple)6
My views of Apple
Mac is shitte
MacBook is shitte
MacBook Pro is shitte
iPad is shitte
iPhone is shitte
AirPods are shitte
AirPower is shitte
iOS is shitte
iTunes is shitte
i-something-belonging-to-Apple is shitte
Tim Cook is shitte
Apple stickers are shitte.
Dongles are shitte.
Lightning port is shitte.
ECG is freaking awesome.18
"iOS Development is easier"
Yeah, right? There's no dropdown, no checkbox, no radio button, no placeholder for multiline textfields, ...
You have to manually do everything yourself and lay things out in their messy slow Xcode. Apple doesn't include important things only because they have randomly decided not to include them! Fuck this job.6
Finally, with iOS 11, now we can sync older conversations with new devices.... Thanks apple, it took 11 fucking versions to do this simple shit!5
Hurray! Finally the IOS devRant Supporter subscription link has been approved by Apple and works. I joined at 4 am today. Great way to start the day. Keep up the great work David and Tim.
Said it before and saying it again: FUCK YOU XCODE! This shit keeps on crashing 😒
So I’m installing all the updates to Xcode and OSX to get ready to make an app update. Get ready, restart for the OSX update, reboots about 3 times. Apple splash screen comes up... Alright that was a pretty fast one...and then FUCKING FRUIT FUCKERS6
1) Create UI library for iOS and Android with 5000+ stars on GitHub
2) Get noticed by Apple for library and interview and work there
3) Get married to my lovely girlfriend
4) Have kids
5) Fuck all yo truck stops and yo biznatch lisbetan asses1
Apple revoked FB and Google's Experimental Certificates!
Way to go Apple! Showing the cojones!
Maybe, iOS developers get paid higher than Android developers because it's MORE STRESSFUL to use Xcode and deal with Apple Certificates.4
XIAOMI vs APPLE..?
XIAOMI providing almost 90% of the specs of APPLE for half price, shouldn't we go for XIAOMI instead of APPLE....?20
Let me get this straight. I don't have a paid Apple Developer account so I can't report iOS 10 bugs?
Anybody want to report a bug for me that double clicking the home button no longer launches Apple Pay from the lock screen?13
People at Apple must have put an enormous amount of time and effort into the development of iOS 11. It's impossible to make an OS so fucking buggy and shitty as 11 without spending a lot of time on it to purposely make it crap.5
iOS dev here
Just wanted to share my experience on updating Xcode and why I schedule 3 hours for this process.
So, updating Xcode via the AppStore has always been flaky at best and ofcouse Xcode needs to be closed first. You hit update, the button turns gray, half an hour in you still see no progress...
That's why I often just download it from the dev center. But since Xcode Ghost the app is also wrapped in a signed container.
Downloading: 10 minutes
Expaning: 60 minutes!!!
After that I move the app in place and fire it up, always have to close my music player first grrr...
After that Gate Keeper verifies the app for another 60 minutes.
Finally Xcode comes to live.
Only need to install new command line tools for another few minutes and I can continue coding.
Wait. Half my day is over!
Why Apple? Why?
Trying to install macOS High Sierra. However the installation file seems to be corrupt. And it keeps rebooting halfway through the install cycle never allowing me to intervene and reset and revert to my previous iOS. Thanks Apple FML10
❤️ Swift ❤️
A new minor version of the compiler has been released !
How sweet !
Which comes with the latest Xcode, which is of course mandatory to deploy on your devices !
How cool !
Let me also break all your code because I've decided to change some obscure programming paradigm, and also because FUCK YOU.
When your manager casually mentions that you're(me) going to learn developing apps for iOS, when you obviously have a built in hate for Apple.
You just sit there thinking about how the fuck the situation escalated unexpectedly quick.7
About week ago I finally upgraded to ios 12 and I really like screen time reporting. It forces me to spend less time using phone.
It lacks features like listening to music or books time, probably because it only measure screen time. Besides that it’s cool.13
Samsung S9 benchmarks: slower than a 2 year old iPhone, more expensive than current:
Why the fuck is this apple stuff so fucking expensive?
I want to dig into IOS app development but I am seriously considering not to do it because it's fucking expensive...
I am a young dev (in apprenticeship) and my company offered me a phone. That's great because I can save the money that I would have payed for my phone bill.
But sadly it's an iPhone... I thought why not make something cool out of it and start learning IOS development.
But so far all I saw from IOS development are extreme high costs...
Is there some kind of student plan or anything that makes it cheaper to learn?
Can you guys give me any advice on this?
I own an old MacBook but I need a new OS on it... (long story)
Are there anymore hidden costs? Any tips where to start?
Thanks for your help fellow ranters and sorry for the half rant half question12
Oh dear Apple,
so you're telling me that for the camera API, the requestAuthorization() method returns a bool and for the PhotoLibrary it returns an enum. Why are you going with an enum when there are 2 states and the camera api doesn't use an enum?
(The 2 methods serve the same purpose, the enum exists in the camera api as well and has the exact same states)
And why do I need access to users photos, if I only want to write photos?2
All devices in the world:
Dev: can you gently copy the content of this dynamically generated <input> element and copy it to the clipboard?
Devices: Sure thing brah!
(and proposed solution on SO, ridiculous)
So apparently I can't test my apps on my own device without paying my Apple Developer Certificate.
I knew it is needed to pay for it if you want to publish/distribute your app but c'mon... This is ridiculous.
My app was literally a fresh app creation, a fucking white screen one page fucking app and when I tried to run in on my iPhone, then I ended up having this problem:
dyld: Library not loaded: @rpath/libswiftCore.dylib
Referenced from: /var/containers/Bundle/Application/BCD48EAA-82C2-46F6-ADEE-45C740C3B66D/HWorld.app/HWorld
Reason: no suitable image found. Did find:
/private/var/containers/Bundle/Application/BCD48EAA-82C2-46F6-ADEE-45C740C3B66D/HWorld.app/Frameworks/libswiftCore.dylib: code signing blocked mmap() of '/private/var/containers/Bundle/Application/BCD48EAA-82C2-46F6-ADEE-45C740C3B66D/HWorld.app/Frameworks/libswiftCore.dylib'
If any of you guys know how to solve it without paying (even more) PLEASE let me know
Create a new project in Xcode Version 10.1 (10B61) - Single View iOS app.
Drag a button on to the screen. It shows in InterfaceBuilder
Launch app in simulator. Button shows, then disappears. Noob says WTF?!
Poor noob has to ask me why this is happening and I explain that Apple's Single View project is a single splash screen project. The button they placed on what they thought was the single "window" is really a splash screen named "LaunchScreen".
Apple Xcode team (aka fucktards) provide yet another shitty out of the box experience...
It is so hard to be positive when teaching others how to use Xcode. Thanks for DevRant for letting me vent.1
First rant ever... But like, I just have to... So I'm at my internship and everythings going good, I'm working on the UI portion for the Android portion of the cross platform Xamarin app, and im just frolicking through my code, making things pretty and usable like a good xaml cow, and then it hits me... The Apple portion...
Now, I have a great computer, love it to death, but it's not an Apple laptop. Which I didn't realize I'd need to have in order to develop a Xamarin app for iOS, but I didn't know that, so as I go up to innocently check off another portion of my daily coding routine, and then I see it. The "please connect your Apple computer to continue". Im here like "...", And suddenly my supervisor comes over and sees my screen blank with my utter look of confusion and he asks why the hell I wasn't working, to which I respond that Xamarin won't let me work with iOS, to which he replies "bullshit, just use the other side of your computer" I'm confused for a second and realize he means my Linux install. So I tell my supervisor politely that that side of my computer isn't an Apple computer and doesn't have an actual licence. This annoys him since he's kind of used to things going his way, so he kind of just angrily/annoyedly says to "get it working" before I clock out... So essentially, I really hate apple for making me have to own an Apple computer to develop for Apple, which I don't really like, since it's not the best computer for me and I'd much rather have a nice bulkier computer that can handle gaming, but yeah, ugh, I'm screwed b/c I don't own an Apple computer... DevRant save me from the cash sucking sadness that is Apple... ;-;
TL;DR: I kinda hate apple for forcing it's devs to own an overpriced piece of hardware to develop their software... And now my supervisor is expecting me to make magic happen by the end of my shift... Which is in 4 hours... Fml11
It's a job description for an entry level Software Developer role at Apple.
Basically they want
- A Front end dev
- A back end dev
- An iOS expert
- A Gimp/photoshop designer
- A streaming data expert
- An Oracle/Teradata expert
- A Kafka expert ( Not shown in the picture)
And on top of that the guy should be able to learn new tech faster.
Do they want a developer or a fucking terminator?5
I came from Android, in the xml you can put simply "match_parent" or "wrap_content", or align right or left.
Then I tried to use Xcode interface builder for iOS. now I am sad and feeling bad. why Apple, why2
On iOS 11, Apple is no longer allowing you to open apps that are 32 bit. Apple should have given all the developers with 32-bit apps free access to the developer program rather than forcing them to pay a $99 fee to publish a 64-bit version of their app.
This would’ve made better business sense for them as publishers would have had an opportunity to create new apps and see more revenue coming in from upgraded apps. Ultimately more money for Apple. Not sure what dumb fool at Apple HQ thought this was a good idea.6
This “Auto save” feature in the latest app version is buggy..
-> new rant
-> prefilled with previous rant..
Anyway, here my actual rant begins.
Apple, go fuck yourself, seriously.. put your trillion dollars way up your arse...
Moved to Ireland, want to switch country..
“If you want to switch countries, cancel your Apple Music subscription first”..
so be it. Cancelled it..
“Your subscription will be cancelled in 28 days”.
FUCK YOU, YOU COCK SUCKING BASTARDS!!
I NEED TO SWITCH THE STORE TO BE ABLE TO DOWNLOAD BANKING APPS AND STUFF LIKE THAT..
But ok, I’m screwed in this regard..
Suddenly iMessage stopped working. This is kind of a big deal because I have unlimited data but only unlimited sms to Irish numbers and I need to communicate with people in Switzerland and Germany..
Internet works so I try to turn iMessage off and in again. But that doesn’t work.. i can only reactivate iMessage via WiFi.
So I go back to the hotel, reactivate iMessage..
“Verifying imessage” >> google..
Leads me to an Apple forum: “the verification of iMessage can take up to 24h”.
Are you fucking kidding me? I’m in a new country and rely on this overpriced shit..
Fun but sad fact, I have a second phone with me. IPhone 4 with iOS 7 and that thing WORKS!!
If this is where the future is going we’re all gonna die very soon.. plains crash, power plants explode but hey, at least they have data about it and it looks shiny. That’s all that matters..
Another reason to switch to android..
MacOs fucked me up so I already switched to windows + Linux. Next one will be getting rid of iOS, they don’t build small phones anymore anyway..1
That feeling when building and testing on android device takes you 5 mins and then you spend 2 days dealing with Apple's bullshit.
Sexy devices and pretty interfaces but they just looove making devs jump through hoops.3
When you switch tabs on Safari (iPhone) and it inexplicably tries to reload the page... when you have no connection 😡5
fastlane: we can’t handle Xcode’s Automatic codesign
Me: OK, I’ll setup match, as you suggested
...many hours passed...
Around a week ago I asked my mentor(lecturers friendly sidekick buddy 'o pal) if in iOS dev(the very next subject) I could virtualize, rent in cloud or run a hackintosh instead of buying a Mac. My mentor sounded enthusiastic and asked the lecturer of the next subject, who promptly said no, he did not support or recommend students who tried any of these approaches because in the past he had encountered students who have run into performance issues and we're unable to compile some things. Most likely those students were unable to setup GPU passthrough and whatnot.
However this is the exact point of a VM. It's exactly the same as if you had a real Mac. I believe this is just them being lazy. Tbh, this is an IT course they should be writing guides on how to do virtualisation, not preventing it.
Looks like I'm headed to the Apple store :(4
"what happens on your iPhone, stays on your iPhone" ... maybe
Win 10 on ARM will not make it. Here's why:
- The devices are ridiculously overpriced.
- Performance is abysmal with emulation.
- Native ports are rare because nobody buys the devices.
- MS doesn't get it.
Instead of addressing the chicken and egg problem, MS even fucks up more: Win 10 S, which is usually pre-installed, can only run shit from the app store. Yeah MS, you think just because Apple gets away with this crap, so can you? Newsflash, Windows isn't iOS, and you aren't Apple.
Even VS 2019 doesn't install the ARM toolchains by default. Because, why would MS entice devs to address ARM64 as conveniently as possible?
MS will just keep gawking at Apple like a pig at a clockwork, and Win 10 on ARM will go down like Windows Phone.31
Fuck swift and xcode and IOS development
Because every fucking guide and tutorial and code example out there is already outdated including some from last month
Because every relevant pod out there change their specs more often than I change my socks
Because you have to do every fucking thing on your own
Because you have to catch 812375 things that can possibly go wrong
Because making a simple JSON request takes 5 screens of code
Because of the five fucking million typing errors you get every damn minute fuck you swift
Because of the 150 page API docs for the simplest fucking things
Because of all the code lost to xcode crashes every couple minutes
Because Apple promised a language and a framework that allows for rapid hassle-free development yet this is exactly the opposite
Because all the money we're paying for all this shit when it's not worth even 1% of it4
Why don't you apple tell me all my fucking errors at once instead of waiting to submit again the next day?
It's been 3 days now 😡😡😡😡2

Point out that removing a "include charger" option from the new iPhone package is not appealing to users with conservative spending habits (me) and users who plan to transition from android to IOS.
"AhaHah you must be poor, poor ppl can't afford to consoom new products every year, I don't care about no chargers AhaAha"
"It'S JuST $30 jUst Buy One @ the StOre"
This is why apple users get a bad rep, apparently not tossing a perfectly functioning phone into a landfill every year makes you poor. My phone doesn't use the new chargers because I actually made a good purchase that has lasted for around 4 years and the only other apple product I own is a macbook, people like these (ain't a few), make me ashamed to be an "apple user" whatever the fuck that means.12
Aren't you, software engineer, ashamed of being employed by Apple? How can you work for a company that lives and shit on the heads of millions of fellow developers like a giant tech leech?
Assuming you can find a sounding excuse for yourself, pretending its market's fault and not your shitty greed that lets you work for a company with incredibly malicious product, sales, marketing and support policies, how can you not feel your coders-pride being melted under BILLIONS of complains for whatever shitty product you have delivered for them?
Be it a web service that runs on 1980 servers with still the same stack (cough cough itunesconnect, membercenter, bug tracker, etc etc etc etc) incompatible with vast majority of modern browsers around (google at least sticks a "beta" close to it for a few years, it could work for a few decades for you);
be it your historical incapacity to build web UI;
be it the complete lack of any resemblance of valid documentation and lets not even mention manuals (oh you say that the "status" variable is "the status of the object"? no shit sherlock, thank you and no, a wwdc video is not a manual, i don't wanna hear 3 hours of bullshit to know that stupid workaround to a stupid uikit api you designed) for any API you have developed;
be it the predatory tactics on smaller companies (yeah its capitalism baby, whatever) and bending 90 degrees with giants like Amazon;
be it the closeness (christ, even your bugtracker is closed and we had to come up with openradar to share problems that you would anyway ignore for decades);
be it a desktop ui api that is so old and unmaintained and so shitty, but so shitty, that you made that cancer of electron a de facto standard for mainstream software on macos;
be it a IDE that i am disgusted to even name, xcrap, that has literally millions of complains for the same millions of issues you dont even care to answer to or even less try to justify;
be it that you dont disclose your long term plans and then pretend us to production-test and workaround-fix your shitty non-production ready useless new OS features;
be it that a nervous breakdown on a stupid little guy on the other side of the planet that happens to have paid to you dozens of thousands of euros (in mandatory licences and hardware) to actually let you take an indecent cut out of his revenues cos there is no other choice in a monopoly regime, matter zero to you;
Assuming all of these and much more:
How can you sleep at night with all the screams of the devs you are exploiting whispering in you mind? Are all the money your earn worth?
** As someone already told you elsewhere, HAVE SOME FUCKING PRIDE, shitty people AND WRITE THE FUCKING DOCS AND FIX THE FUCKING BUGS you lazy motherfuckers, your are paid more than 99.99% of people on earth, move your fucking greasy little fingers on that fucking keyboard. **
PT2: why the fuck did you remove the ESC key from your shitty keyboards you fuckshits? is it cos autocomplete is slower than me searching the correct name of a function on stackoverflow and hence ESC key is useless? at least your hardware colleagues had the decency of admitting their error and rolling back some of the uncountable "questionable "hardware design choices (cough cough ...magic mouse... cough golden charging cables not compatible with your own devices.. cough )?16
Apple guys are a bunch of liars and hypebeast darkmode hipsters yet we all follow this stupid cult.5
Why hire a Native iOS Developer when you're going to let him develop an iOS app to look EXACTLY like its Android counterpart?
There's hybrid and cordova for that if you want your apps to look and feel exactly the same.
Can't we all just agree to appreciate the distinct differences in UI for both platforms? Navigation especially? Copy context not UI.
Till now, my experience with Mac OS and iOS has been fucking shit... and that is, if said elegantly...
As of now, I have formatted my phone AND laptop about 8-9 times i believe ( got phone a week ago, laptop a couple weeks ago )...
iCloud won't even work properly for me, image synchronization is pretty much fucked up in every damn way and is unresponsive for 99%. The remaining 1% when it works is the time when i actually reformat the system.
And don't even get me started on "Continuity"... it is continuously, robustly, non working at all times. Hell, the phone can't even connect to the laptop over bluetooth, so Continuity is a far off thing.
VERY disappointed at Apple.
OR, it hates me particularly because everything works perfectly fine for a friend of mine. ( He hasn't even formatted his devices once since like 2 years... ).
I love technology, but apparently, it HATES me to death </3
Oh and fuck u Apple for giving me such a pitiful software suite...
BTW, undergoing another format on phone. On laptop right now to write this rant. Laptop is gonna be formatted again in like 6-7 hours from now...
Finishing up for the day and about to submit our app for review over the weekend. Everything's wrapped up nicely with a bow. Click Submit For Review. Head home for the long weekend.
Open up laptop hours later to check something, see iTunesConnect on the "Does this application use the IDFA advertising identifier" page.
Oh yeah. There's another step. 😖2
If you are a new employee tasked to work with Java, C#, C++ or whatever, choose a Windows PC. And don't get obsessed with having things that look nice, we all know the screen on apple products is awesome, but to get the job done especially if you are a programmer, it's a pain in the ass.
I see Mac owners daily struggle with this and that just to get some work done.
Of course we can start talking about virtual OS, dual boot and so forth, but does it really matter?
Nonetheless if your job is to build ios apps, then of course a Mac Book is a better alternative, but if most of your work is done with C#, then go with Windows PC because it fully supports Visual Studio.15
Modern cross platform mobile app development is a lie. Maybe if you do Apple first, I don't know. Maybe xamarin is better than Cordova, idk. I've spent more time tweaking to one platform than I would have just starting with a platform and writing two or three code bases. I've got more if iOS statements than I know what to do with and the Windows code is some hacky transpiled mess because UWP isn't ES6 ready for reasons. Also, some error and image handling just doesn't translate. All this and I've got significantly less features than I could have implemented in the same time writing in a native language.3
So we do not have an amazing internet speed. Can you imagine the dread we feel in the office when a new xcode version needs to be used to have apps be accepted by apple again. For those uninitiated: update all ios devices. Update unity to work eith newest xcode. Update to newest xcode, update mac to newest osx to actually be able to update xcode. It takes FOREVER. If this meets you at 8am, you are not building today. You are done.4
Every FUCKING time iOS releases a version update, I have to update my Xcode, my code to the latest swift, my third party libraries..
Do you feel my pain , Apple?1
Greaaaaaat, Apple introduced a performance bug in iOS 12.1.2 that affects my app on iPhone X and higher. It just makes me work5
I seriously don't fucking understand those people who like programming iDevices.
I mean, in my personal experience you have:
- iPhone not connecting to a WiFi (while working on a network project)
- Mac, while using multiple desktops on 2 monitors: I have the 3rd desktop active on the 2nd monitor, search for terminal to open it and it opens in the 1st desktop of the first monitor
- while making an app (ionic or unity), is about 5 to 15 times slower compared to the same android apps (same exact code, but gotta go throught XCode, y'know?)
- takes YEARS to download XCode, but is necessary to even just build for lastest iPhones updated
- takes years to upload to AppStore and when it's done it just tells you "oh bitch, you know what? you forgot that fucking icon for tablets, how about you rebuild it all? and NO, you have to change the build number or I won't accept it"
- App quality was so pedantic on the first publish but then always fucks it up at the second upload, like "hey we checked it the first time, now we can just 100% trust it works and doesn't use anything scammy"
- code+compiled app for iOS is like 1GB while android vode+build is like 100MB WTF do you even put in those 900MB? random trash? WHY?
- I'm not even gonna get into the forums or the amount of money you have to pay for both product and services
- MacOS works ALMOST like Linux, but takes all the worst from both windows and linux to give you the worst performance with the best graphics, but it looks cool, so doesn't matter
A good world would be a world where Apple goes bankrupt after Steve Jobs died1
Watching an android wear on iOS video and they are complaining that android wear is limited on iOS and they love the look and usability of android wear compared to watch OS...
Of course it's bloody limited, you can't even use Apple devices with android so be happy you even get basic support :-P
(Yes I am a Google fan boy so android for lyf)3
So I really hate iOS programming. I'm in school and all my devices for dev are Microsoft based and fuck trying to use hackintosh. So now I have to waste more of my time and gas money going to school to use the stupid fucking imacs to Develop in a language I have 0 interest in. Fuck apple, fuck iOS, and fuck swift!3
I hate developing for iOS. So many certificates here and there for simple things. And to top it all off, sometimes, you get people reviewing your app that say you can't upload to the App Store for stupid reasons. Does anyone feel the same way?10
Swift 1 and 2 were really pain in the ass!! You had to write God damn completed word of each statement. Eg : "presentViewController" is now "present" in Swift 3. Or that fucking "NS" in every object :)))
Thanks God! Thanks Apple! No more bull shit keyword!2
A small Xcode story
I once built a very complex iOS app (with a lot of views) in Xcode and then there was a problem leading to crash in some devices which was reported to Apple in 2013 and still there is no answer from them. I had to rewrite the app. Unfortunately I had used Interface Builder (with Storyboards) in that app and so I created each view again, set all the constraints and connected them to the controllers which took me a lot of time also having other projects at the same timespan, only because of a simple and known bug in Xcode which has not been fixed since 2013. Since then, I try to prevent using Interface Builder again.
What a shitty piece of software 😡2
"Have you tried regenerating your provisioning profiles?" Say it one more time mothefucker I dare you I double fucking dare you.
If you wanna think that I'm a bad programmer, that's ok, but I can't put up anymore with Xcode.
Jesus Christ. An entire afternoon spent trying to make an array with two dimensions. I tried every fucking way I found in SO, in the apple site and in every another site that I found in my way.
First: For every example for Swift 3 there's another 10 for Swift <3.
Second: Mutable arrays, as I'm noticing, aren't a thing anymore, so, to declaring array size we go! Except it's impossible to. Tried 3 different ways. Not a single one worked.
Third: Actually, one of the 3 tries worked, for int arrays, and for some obscure reason it won't work for strings, as declaring the array as [String] is too general for swift, I mean, I completely agree with it, a [String] array could contain anything right???? FUCK NO. IT CONTAINS STRINGS YOU FUCKER!!!!
I swear, if the equipment was mine and not from the office, I would have thrown that piece of shit which disconnects from the fucking computer every 30 seconds that apple calls keyboard out of the window already.
Why the fuck do I need to develop for iOS in swift/xcode?? There's so many cross platform alternatives out there, good ones in fact, but no, we must build the applications natively or else the phone will catch on fire according to my boss.
I kinda liked Apple until now.
From now on? Fuck Apple.10
A toss up between Apple and Microsoft...
Apple I use to love because I used an iPhone exclusively and loved iOS but the more and more I moved into the cloud. The more and more I started hating the lack of online tools like word processing and the like so eventually led me to disliking them but now I hate them exclusively because of there hardware fragmentation, the lack of consistency between there hardware really irritates me...
And Microsoft came from in an instant, I use to love windows and use it exclusively but as soon as I discovered Linux and got my first taste of it through Ubuntu I started hating windows compared to Linux but now I hate the company because of their two faced ways, will state they support the open source community yet only throw actual support when they clearly can't be beaten and give in...
(Can feel the hate coming my way so all good!)3
Doing react-native and find out I can't develop iOS apps on windows pc.
Fuck you Apple and your XCode1
TIL: Apps you install on an IOS device for testing purposes with a free account expire after one week. Nice move apple!3
Woke up 4am today to push my first iOS app. Took me three phucking hrs to realise apple is down! Their FUCKING dev stats website says all is green! Fuck u xcode1
Guys, just a quick update on the ability to delete default apps on iOS 10 since Apple is not saying much, I've just deleted all the defaults and gained around 0.38GB in total, it would appear that some of the Apps aren't in fact deleted but are just hidden from the home screen (which would explain the lack of a size being given on the App Store)1
It's 3am, just submitted an app for review for iOS... go to take one last test drive on the release build for android, and I get stuck in an infinite loop of "system up stopped working". An factory reset and an hour later, I'm saying fuck this, android waits, and fuck whatever Xamarin did to my phone. While I'm at it, fuck Apple for making me have 20+ icons in different sizes, and their shitty walled garden approach to a so called marketplace.4
It drives me Insane that AWS still doesn't support Swift 3 for iOS. We're almost to the point where Apple is going to drop Swift 2 support in XCode and Amazon STILL has not gotten it.
I've started deploying Gateway APIs in Objective-C and linking them to the bridging header just so we can finally move foreword in our company and quit relying on legacy Swift support. Which is something I was really trying to avoid because we don't like mixing languages unless absolutely necessary. It's not a problem, but it's incredibly annoying to me. What IS a problem is having to start new projects already using legacy code from the very beginning.
What is amazon going to do when the next release of XCode comes out? Tell all new customers to downgrade?
Why even offer native Swift APIs if you're going to go this long and still not migrate, Amazon?!
I'm an iOS developer, but I also write Java code at work for our servers. I'm pretty appreciative of multiple technologies / implementations, and don't really participate in religious wars. 99.9% of people at my job are hardcore Java server developers who worship the JVM and hate everything else. I work primarily in objective-c and swift. Hearing them bash Apple as a horrible company (while using a Mac btw) and hailing Java as the greatest language since sliced bread, gets pretty fucking annoying after 2 years. So I decide to participate in their flame wars for once, do some digging, and come across this: https://cs.gmu.edu/~sean/stuff/.... They could not nor would believe the post, because the fact that their precious Java could have borrowed at all from the "terrible" Objective-C / Smalltalk paradigm was too much to bear. Talk about close-minded..1
If you could choose one, what should happen in 2020 :
1. Apple let developer build iOS apps on non Apple machines
2. NPM/Maven/... run 10x faster
4. Governments stop trying to ruin encryption
5. Facebook splits
6. Quantum computers are being sold for consumer use
7. We have our first high - level generic AI working22
The thing I hate most about apple is if I were to write an app for iOS for my iPhone using friends I'd have to pay 100€ developer fee and buy a f***ing MacBook. F***ing dictatorial, freedom-hating, money-grabbing, piece of sh*t apple.5
Android fan boys: WOW! Android O Dev Preview released! Time for numerous commits.
Apple fan boys: Apple so needs to implement these features in the next update 😂
iOS (14.2) users:
Can you open epic games in safari?
Wondering it this is some brutal block since the whole Apple/Epic war started or it's just my phone.
XCode you fucking piece of shit...
So I just wanted to process my ios app to the app store and start the archive process. All of the sudden:
Command CodeSign failed with a nonzero exit code
What? So there is an error and you cannot tell me the error code? All information you give me that it isn't zero!? Wow... Amazing... What a great user experience. Maybe it cannot resolve the error? Maybe it is some external tool Apple has no access to and that is the only valid error they can throw at us?
Oh hell no! It has something to do with the keychain access! But why tell the user? That wouldn't be as much fun as just tell it is a nonzero error, isn't it apple?!
In the end locking and unlocking my key chain solved the problem... Thanks for nothing XCode!2
My mother asked me to help her with her iPhone and (old) Mac
Her iPhone didn't synchronise her photos anymore, it showed a message saying her iPhone is locked (it wasn't)
So after searching a bit I asked her when this problem showed up.
apparently, she tried synching her iPhone for the first time since she upgraded to my sisters iPhone 5s.
I found out that osx 10.6.8 and ios 10.x.x don't like each other...
AN APP THAT LETS ME USE FIREFOX I STEAD OF SAFARI ON MY FUCKING IPHONE
ITS NOT THAT DAMN HARD APPLE. YOU DID IT FOR THE MAC...
also devrant, plz add browser selection for iOS (yes I already submitted a GH issue)5
While I’m here,
Do any of you know how I would start learning to develop iOS apps w/o an Apple computer?9
This is a big thing I think. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm overweight and this job keeps me at a desk for long periods of time.
I ended up with health issues from a combination of a bad diet, a staph infection years ago, and not being active. So I've made a commitment to start walking - at least a mile a day.
I'm using Pacer + Apple Health on iOS to track my progress. So far, combined with a $50 bluetooth scale I picked up on Amazon, I'm losing weight. I also noticed that when I switched my mile walk to my lunch break, I'm coming back to my work way more refreshed.
I hope to keep this up and I've found the gamification of having apps track my progress is a definite plus.
Anyone else have any healthy habits of "health hacks" they've found?4
iphone x fails
I use smartphone with OLED display since 2010 and never got this problem, but for apple is normal
here we're not talking about twins, but just brothers
but what else you want from a really good deal (cook said) phone for only more than 1000$???3
I hate iOS so much. Just hit a nasty bug where "optimizer" in browser sometimes randomly replaces a function with a number. Like WTF? Was developing a webpage working on iOS too easy, so they enabled a hard mode where some of your functions may turn on you?1
While developing on xcode, I will be spending more time on waiting for the xcode to respond to my actions than actually writing code, especially when editing the storyboard, FUCK APPLE!8
F*ck Apple. WatchOs 4 is a downgrade! On first apple watch the system runs half the speed. The music app is now shit, because I can only play music downloaded on the 2gb apple watch. Seriously wtf? Maybe I have more music than 2gb. There new design of the app slowed the app down to 15 fps...
The story watch face is complete crap it shows all the time only "Good morning, name".
The worst is I can't go back to the watchOS 3 which was so many times better...
And you still have this bug that pisses me off since watch OS 1 you can hear every sounds coming from your watch with your Bluetooth headphones, but not calls.
You have to hear the call with the apple watch speakers when you don't want to buy airpods.
In other words the function is useless.
And it's one of the most important.
Pls apple why has every watchOS update have to be an downgrade...
And I don't have any chance to get off of this version unlike with iOS.
If Apple didn't jack up their prices and offered decent dedicated GPUs they'd actually be fuckin great... the greed is just too damn high with them
P.S. I might have to get a Macbook because of an iOS project, but I really want something that can game at least a bit... at the end of the day it's not my decision, I'll get what they give me3
For all the cheap-ass sys admins:
I wouldn’t pay 100$ a year to apple just to have push notifications when my server fucks up or an user fill my support form but I want to know that in real time but I have iPhone(forget about FCM).
So I downloaded pushbullet to my phone and integrated its API in my server and when something important happen I get completely free notification which (thanks to url schemes in ios) redirect me to my server administration app.
Note: I used xamarin for my management app to be ready for the moment when I switch back to android.2
What the hell is wrong with the browser on iOS....
For Christ sakes almost no input attributes work. I have a Sign Up feature that validates passwords with a pattern attribute; doesn't work, required attribute; doesn't work, input type number; doesn't work.
What the fuck is wrong with this thing. Even Internet Explorer knows what those attributes means. Absolute joke now i need to implement it manually. Fuck off apple.11
Just spent the whole week trying to build an Ionic app for iOS. Of course, I don't have a Mac.
I should charge Apple for the enormous amount of time I lost because of their f***ing policy. Seriously guys ? We're in 2018.
My Phone crashed (22%) while I was trying to send a picture of my bluescreen. (Phone needs to be charged) - fuck. my. life.
Damn driver updates. Damn 5yo iPhone.
Updated to iOS 12.1.2 (sleazy release 2) after previously getting fucked up the ass by iOS 12.1.2 first release. Yes boys and girls, they tried to cover up their latest fuckup by re-releasing the same release with a modification.
The first time I updated, it knocks my Apple ID out on all my Apple devices when I upgrade my iPhone to 12.1.2. Mother fuckers... gotta log back in for every device, iPads, iPhones, Apple TVs, Macs. And for each service iTunes Store, Messages, FaceTime on each device supporting. Oh yea, it knocks out my Wi-Fi calling and I have to reestablish that too. Then to really ice me, it knocks out my HomeKit system as the Apple ID is knocked out on the Apple TV.
Now after updating just my iPhone to the second 12.1.2 "sleaze release", the thing knocks all my devices out again.
Apple has taken away that which I loved; impeccable engineering and design that could be used as the model for an entire industry. The industry guru. (teacher, leader) Apple has become the new Microsoft.
October 5, 2011, the day Apple died.4
So due to some necessary repairs on my Nokia 6.1 i had to use an iPhone for the last 2 weeks (was the device they gave me for the duration of the repair). And let me say something in advance: I own a Macbook Pro, i own an iPad Pro, both devices are excellent for what i use them for. I enjoy OS X, i enjoy iOS on the tablet. But oh boy is the iPhone a shitshow of a magnitude i have never seen.
First off: The notifications. They feel like Android 4 or something. No customization, no grouping, not context. Also the swipe down gesture simply blocks whatever i am doing.
Multitasking: What a shitshow. There is no continuity, apps reload on a whim, no switching between apps (except that strange thing where the app shows up on the left upper screen, but i can't go back from there?)
Settings: WHY ARE APPS SETTINGS IN THE GLOBAL SETTINGS!! And not even all settings are. They are all over the place. And the settings are so convoluted and bloated, i can't find half of the things i am looking for.
Clock & Alarm: Goddamn that design choice with the edit button infuriates me to no end. Why can't i click an alarm and simply edit it? Also: Why do i have to enter the clock app to even see which alarm is going off next?
The Appdrawer: WHY CAN'T I SORT MY APPS BY NAME?? I have to conciously remember where i put things. Apps i use rarely, apps i use often.
God, iOS on the phone is so fucking terrible.4
what the fuck I can't edit the rant after 5 minutes I am fucking posting a new rant which have that last rant ...Why they update the fucking x code in every fucking 15 days . Well some libraries are deprecated oh cool I can use my shit as an object. And why third party libraries don't provide some good documentation of their sdk's . What the fuck is that and I will personally kill auto layout by entering in the mac myself. What is the use of that fucking debugging tool if I know don't the crap of my code that in which class I have done something terribly wrong what the fuck . Oh cool I am having that clang error and I don't know how to wipe my ass. And please fucking don't tell me to use xib code in xcode for my project if there will be 600 screens I will still fucking use storyboard for that. I don't fuck with xib files do you hear me. And fucking stackoverflow ..what the fuck is wrong if I forget an single comma during posting a question ..what the fuck..and you know what the real feeling is when I post a issue on stackoverflow and I got nothing from them expect some minus points...and then the holy fucking coder inside me tells me to solve that fucking problem and I feel like having dope bitch. FUCCKKKK..5
Who the fuck thought "hey! Safari on iOS would be a great idea!"? Decidedly that cuntfuck thought integrating the worst browser on shitty devices everyone faps to was *the* idea of the century.
No Mac? Go fuck yourself in the ass if you want to debug that shit with any device that has the fucking Apple logo. Prolapse™ by ProlApple, or Applapse rather.
My problem? I'm compiling typescript to straight fucking ES5 JS, why the fuck isn't it fucking working on iOS 10.2/3?! Is it still running ES1 Pre-Alpha RC-0.2.7 ?!! Even internet explorer is working...
(Not meant to offend anyone, just expressing some frustration)
iOS notifications stopped working... Certs are good, nothing wss changed regarding notifications, everything works fine on the android side... What do you want from me apple???!!1
So, against like 90% of all odds, we (I) managed to submit the application to Apple for review at the ripe old time of 21.27 last night.
Events of the day included:
- fighting with appstoreconnect (turns out they just return a 500 if you haven't paid your Apple developer membership)
- removing FAQs altogether because "it would have taken too long to make those today" (ticket in Jira for this for ~4 months)
- our app was targeting both iPad and iPhone, so we had to rebuild the app for iPhone only because "we don't have app store images for iPad".
On the bright side, that leaves 3 days next week to get the rest of the backend finished for actual go live on Monday 16th, so long as Apple don't reject the app.
Side note: adding the target-device preference affected the android build somehow? despite the preference being iOS only, and wrapped in a platform="iOS" section.
When you’re out of town for the night and you left your MacBook at home on your desk... what a genius I am.1
As I'm seriously considering sending the guy I went on a date with recently who subsequently pissed me off the Telugu character, iOS 11.2.6 is released. 😞2
Hey, up for a challenge?
Upgrade to iOS 12 beta 2,
When all of your apps fail to open and u can only use apple safari, notes & other apple apps, start regretting the decision and downgrade your phone to iOS 11.4 when your phone starts up in data recovery mode and fails to recover data and then u need to send mom a sms of that picture of your family and explain the reason for why all of your data got deleted send me a picture so I can see how I did😤...
I deleted my jailbreak for this shit?!
(I understand it's a beta, but cmon on beta 1 haw of my apps didin't work, and on beta 2 I needed to restart my phone for 6 times before apps might start working and u need to wait 2 weeks before another beta releases, fuck off appl. With this beta shit, I guarantee there were thousends of users with same issue fix tht.)2
Because of its absolutely useless complexity...
a total simple thing: i have a string and want to concat a integer with it, so:
var x = stringVar + intVar; right? NO
its var x = stringVar + String(intVar);
or getting the index of a element in a array?
var index = array.indexOf(element); thats logic, right??? Not for swift, gotta go with: var index = array.index(of: element); WTF??!!
And all the other shit: nil instead of null, int++? Nope.
And there are SO MANY MORE things, where u just think, Apple really though different........than all normal coding languages.......
I´ll honestly rather learn C and recode Ios or have a look at objective-c...17
Apple's provisioning profiles/entitlements suck. They can all go wreak havoc on Android now. -___- App all coded, passed IT Security..will be passed by QA once they can actually test the app. Yet App piloting is in hold because of these stupid profiles and entitlements.3
The awkward moment when you name your dictionary "dic" and realize that while explaining a piece of code to a female colleague. 😳1
Making a VR app.
It must work with:
- pico VR
- oculus go
- oculus gear
- Android (standard mobile
Now, except for iOS they all work with android, which make things way easier.
Now guess where most of the troubles are?
FUCKING IOS, I just fucking believe iOS even inverts the whole fucking textures while using Unity+GVR
WHY THE FUCK DOES IT EVEN HAPPEN?
I have 4 different projects to build 5 different Apps
Fuck my work6
google pixel 2 vs iphone x fails
recap pixel 2:
recap iphone x:
Apple fucked me, their latest iOS version broke my app 🙄 10.1.2
Then my phone gap plugins decided to update to .. they also don't work 🙄
Absolute mess only way I knew was rolling code back to a version that once worked... Thanks github!3
Why would Apple ever limit iOS developers to the Safari WebKit? They're basically saying no to wonderful things like Electron - and proper surfing, when you think about it...4
In case you guys want to know, Apple fixed a big problem with the whole virtual back to the last app button. Now it's way smaller and it doesn't actually hide your internet connection info. Small fix, but one truly appreciated
It drives me nuts when people compare iPhones to Samsung, not realizing that Samsung did not invent Android, nor are they the only phone manufacturer or Android OS distributor.
If you're comparing iOS to Android, that's one thing. Or if you are comparing iPhone's hardware to a specific Samsung phone's hardware, I get it. Heck, I'm cool if you compare the iPhone X to the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, because they're similar in price. But don't say that Apple is better than Samsung when you mean you have an issue with Android, or your battery life on your $300 Android device wasn't as good as your $700 iPhone. Apples to oranges guys! It's like comparing Visual Studio 2015 to Python.
I don't care who is right or which is better. At least know what you're comparing!
Come on Apple, start that review of my iOS 10 app, please!?!
I can see on Twitter that loads of other devs gets their app approved in less than a day, you've spent 4 days so far!!
So, I'm starting cross platform mobile app development with NativeScript. Just side projects at the moment, nothing "business-related".
Well, as for the Android part, I'm free to choose whether I'd like to develop on Windows 10- or on my Linux machine. I can compile the project on either system. As for publishing it to Google Play, I might do it, I might not do it, since it is possible to install an app by providing the apk file.
As for the Apple part: I'd either have to buy an completely overpriced Apple computer (iMac, MacBook, etc.) or subscribe to a pricey online CI/CD service... just to be able to compile the fucking project. And if that wouldn't be enough, Apple wants to charge me 99 $ a year so I may have a chance to publish the app to their App Store... of course without any guarantees that my app will be published, because it might be revoked by them. WHAT THE FUCK?5
This Character Can Crash Almost All Apps on Apple Devices...but but apple is the best /s
For all my life is have had inherent hate for Apple and its devices, especially mobile devices and their userbase
Few weeks back, i got my hands on a MacBook air.
While I'm still dislike iOS, i really gotta say that it like the "fluidity" if macOS
First time in used it, i somehow knew exactly how to do what i need to (expect right click and some KB shortcuts ( damnit CMD key))
Well, at least i now have experience and know how of alla 3 major os environments1
Being tempted by a job offer as an iOS dev that has full (paid) training. Not a fan of apple but heard swift is a nice language (assuming it is swift).
I've spent the last year and a half learning the react way as my first dev job, not sure whether it's beneficial to keep on this path or diversify.
Fucking apple... Just fucking apple... And their piece of shit frameworks... Stochastic, unpredictable, unreliable, clusterfuck pieces of shit!2
I am sick of Android cave dwellers go outside everytime iOs released and make their old tired “inNOvatIon” joke.
Apple does not say we brought these things first, so there is no base for a joke even. But when Apple does, you can be sure it will be far more perfect than your average Android phone has, or even top end ones.11
Ok I'm going to jump in on the new iPhone shit, yes they are expensive, yes they are pale in comparison to flagship android devices (no I'm not an apple fan at all but I like Mac) but you don't buy an iPhone for the hardware, you buy it for the software and custom silicon.
iPhones will probably out perform android in synthetic tests for ever, they are working with custom designed hardware, custom software where as android will run on a multitude. Can't have 1 size fits all without compromise.
I will still say that iPhones are 110% to the power of 100 not worth the money in any way, but I'm sick and tired of seeing people compare iPhone to android when it's like comparing apples to oranges -,-3
first experience with ios development and ios designer with xamarin.ios..
as an Android guy, I find yhe way apple make building UI too disturbing and not helping dev to do the job more fastly.
but anyway, it's a good opportunity
I wish rating an app in the AppStore is as simple as presenting an alert controller so users won’t need to go to AppStore
iOS 14, two thoughts.
1. It manipulates people. They added app gallery and now when you try to delete app it asks you if it should rather hide it into the app gallery, exploiting your hoarder bias so you have more apps and thus more notifications if you haven't disabled them. That's a no from me.
2. It fixed a LOT of bugs and annoyances. I quit next js because of the exact same thing being important to me — they were busy doing only the new features to constantly pitch and lure investors, they never responded to issues and never fixed anything. I'm happy that Apple realizes that it's important to fix bugs.
Overall I'm happy. My iPhone X is pretty old already (87% battery capacity remaining) but it's much faster with iOS 14 than with iOS 13. The main thing is reduced latency pretty much everywhere. Especially the screenshots, I'm barely detecting the click and the screenshot is already done. No perceivable latency if you ask me. New refreshed look is amazing, backside tap actions are cool, new music app is amazing.
People tell me that apple is forcing you to buy new gadgets with updates but explain to me then WHY my old iphone X got much faster with new iOS? That's a contradiction. If I buy a new iPhone it'll be because of dead battery (that's physics and not exclusively Apple issue) or just because I want 120hz and lidar bokeh.13
I've always loved to change technologies to work with...I developed Desktop applications, Web applications, android applications...and now I'm working on an IOS app and I have just one message to whoever came up with the brilliant idea of a drag & drop system for views in XCode:
I DO NOT RESPECT YOU AS A HUMAN BEING.
I have been an iOS developer for 6 years.
I used to get so excited about Apple announcements. Instantly want to watch all the WWDC videos as soon as they went up.
Now I just don't care. TBH that's how I'm feeling about software development in general now. It makes me sad that I've lost my passion 😢6
Ffs. I thought I never had to touch development for ios devices anymore but I was wrong.
The god damn piece of shit hybrid app build in apache cordova works perfectly fine on android but guess what, after signing that pile of crap with xcode it won't work on ios because somehow that retarded os forgets to listen for click events on a simple fucking button which is used to activate the app.
Had to create a virtual machine with osx and wait for xcode to instal, sign that app only to figure out it won't work..
Even after seaching google for 3 FUCKING HOURS there are still no FUCKING RESULTS.
I'm done with the entirety of apple and all their products.
started to try out xamarin. a ideal way to write it once and use it in 3 apps. on windows all was fine. android sdk adn ndk installed everything ok. starts to looked at ios hmm, you need mac to build project, simulate. oh wait even the UI designer you need mac pc.
WTF is going on here, are you serious apple. come to think of it, now i get how apple sales numbers are high. when developers and companies need to by apple pc in order to make a fucking app for them. but that's not all you need to pay 100euro a year to publish the app.15
Not completely a dev thing. But now days it seems like everyone is either an audiophile or a master at phone design. Like for REAL! What do you want???
This sounds like crap (has HD Sound)
This looks ugly (any and every phone)
It seems like there a lot of trolls that just go to events they really don't like... Why do Samsung Fans watch Apple events??
You dont see vegans going to every meet market they see.... Like for real.....
Xcode is frustratingly slow and horrible. They engineered it really badly. Why don't you just please collaborate with these intelligent Jetbrains guys? No, you won't do that because ego or because money is more important than your developers' happiness. I do not enjoy this career path to your ecosystem anymore.2
"No matching provisioning profiles found: No provisioning profiles matching an applicable signing identity were found."
FUCK YOU APPLE!!!!! I've update it a thousand times mother fucker!!1
Anyone elses weekend getting super fucked because of the new iOS update?
I am sitting here late at night working because they just decided to screw with their filesystem because of their ugly new camera...2
So I’ve asked my Unis infrastructure guys via mail, why we don’t use the digital id with our phone additional to our RFID Badge.
One of those (maybe a moron, I don’t judge yet, see question below) replies, that they would need to replace all readers “as current ones rely on RFID scanning chips” and they are not sure how US Unis implemented it.
Thing is, that when I hold my iPhone SE 2020 next to the reader, my phone shows my credit card to use for Apple Pay.
Doesn’t that mean, that they use compatible RFID frequencies ?
I’m not an iOS dev, so maybe someone can help me out. Any info appreciated!11
I can't connect the fucking safari debugger to the fucking iPad.
It opens the window and closes it after a few seconds, or sometimes (1 time out of 20) it just works, without no fucking reason.
And you should wonder "why are you asking for help here, that's not the fucking StackOverflow" the problem is that I don't know where else to ask. The next step will be resurrect Steve Jobs and just ask him why9
We are currently debugging the most ridiculous issue. We have an eForm embedded in a native iOS app, and in the iOS 11 beta, every time we tap a dropdown list it takes 4 taps to dismiss it because it keeps reappearing. The final time it reappears with no data in it. The dropdowns are generated by Safari. We have replaced the Safari native dropdowns with a custom view and now the issue doesn't occur. What the hell Apple? What change did you make to Safari to cause such a random issue in a web view?
Hello everyone. I need your help and suggestions. I submitted an app to the Apple app store and got this response.
Your app or metadata includes an account registration feature, which is considered an access to external mechanisms for purchases or subscriptions to be used in the app.
To resolve this issue, please remove the account registration feature and any other fully qualified links to your site that could indirectly provide access to these mechanisms, such as links to web pages for support, FAQs, product or program details, etc.
My app only has a signup form that signs the user up on Firebase. What are my options? Is a simple signup form not allowed in iOS apps? This just does not make any sense to me. Please let me know what you would do.5
What the.. Apples member center (for managing iOS dev certificates and profiles) keeps crashing the whole Safari.
Safari restarted three times in 5 minutes now..?!
Appears to be some strange way of self-irony when the browser's developer builds a site provoking a quite critical bug though... x)
F Apple. I've got their touch-driven, motion-sensing, centimeter-thick, supercomputer (by 1990 standards) from 2012, and I can't fscking run Linux on it because my only official choices are the old iOS 7.0.0 over-the-air update and the newest iOS 9.3.5, and no one has published how to get root to either stupid OS so I can run an exploit on the stupid fucking boot loader.3
So I wanted to check on an iOS app in my company's Apple account but ...
I don't know, this thing used to be a login.1
So I tried to fix an app today that we made for a client ...
It's a Cordova project that's basically jus a wrapper for a certain section of the client's website that's displayed inside an iframe inside said app (with a bit of additional CSS and such). It's all working fine.
The problem is, said scrolling effect inside said iframe does not work inside the iOS version of the app (does, however, when the content of the iframe is viewed (by just visiting the URL) inside Safari), instead, the iframe just scrolls back to top.
So after five and a half hours of depression, anger and rage, also some repetetive cursing towards Apple (just like every time something has to do with their awful products), my boss walks in, looks at me and says:
"I'd be fine with it, if I just had to manually scroll instead".
If it wasn't 5pm already (I usually go home at 6), I would've just left the room / gone home or gotten my salad from the fridge to have something to release my anger on.
Seriously though, what the fuck!?
Learning iOS/Swift Programmer here.
I feel like Apple’s Developer Documentation is extremely hard to parse.
For one problem, it feels like there are 50 similar ways to deal with it; but only one way will actually work.
There also aren’t enough examples in the docs for me either, they just seem to go: “Here’s some code, figure out what it’s purpose is.” for most things.
I also feel stupid, because I’m using the Hacking with Swift tutorials to learn iOS Development(Great Tutorials Though); and I don’t know how to just build an app from scratch. (i.e. creating swift files and assets and compiling from the terminal.)
And using StackOverflow feels like cheating.
Lastly, I feel awful inside when other people see my work and think I’m a genius, when really, I feel like I barely know anything at all.
I’m I alone in this observation?
Or just dumb?5
Sucessfully made two hackintoshes in a span of a week. I think I've made my point apple, at least an effort to care about macs Apple. Who the fuck is gonna make the iOS apps that make your money maker useful?
Fuck you Apple,
A avid user5
I finally almost have enough money to buy myself a MacBook (to get into iOS development) but now I know if I buy one it will be outdated as soon as the ARM processors come out...
So I guess I'll have my trusty Ubuntu laptop for the next year or two3
I am at some point gonna start developing for iOS. On a scale from 1 to 10, where 1 is a beginner python tutorial, and 10 is hand crafted assembly, how difficult is it? What should I expect? Do I need an apple device aside from a Mac to do that, or are there emulators?4
So we have spent the last ~3 weeks creating workarounds for bugs that were found during testing against iOS 11 beta 1.
Today I had to go in and undo all the merges because as of beta 7 Apple have fixed the issues we were seeing.
Weeks of effort wasted that could have been spent upskilling or fixing build issues with an app that will have a release due in the coming weeks and we currently know little about.3
Long time no rant...
Just fuck apple.
I’m working in partnership with an startup as iOS dev.
We have payments in our app since it was released couple years ago. And everything was ok. Two months ago we implemented a subscription based program that granted our user access to a few things that we need to process manually. I specified that because in apple’s guidelines states that services consumed outside app are not allowed to be sold using inapp purchase and you have to implement your own payment method.
All nice and good we used what we had already in place and the updated was approved. Same for the next 6 versions. Now we discovered a quite critical bug and fixed and submitted a new update just so apple would reject it because we are using subscription that is not implemented using their fucking store kit. So they can’t get those 30% share cut.
Fuck them fuck their echo system fuck their overpriced product. I’v just abandoned my 15” mbp mid2015 in favor of a hackintosh just because my mbp was dying from high temps. Fuck it i’m almost done with mobile development after 6 years2
Installed tweaks to make parts of iOS 9.3.3 look and sound like iOS 10, but with the full customization of a jailbreak. Who needs to update when you can upgrade?
Sooo many fucking visual and functional glitches in iOS!
Just had my Files app stuck on a file preview. Couldn’t scroll, close or share the file. Closed the app, restarted the app, opened it again with no luck.
Had to offload and reinstate the app to get it working.
Apple is making sure that I go back to Android for my next phone.
To think that such an expensive phone has so many UI/UX glitches is infuriating! I like the overall aesthetics of iOS but these glitches/bugs/whatever-the-fucks are just plain frustrating.2
Try to upload ipa archive to iTunes. Service is interrupted. Again. Fuck you apple! I was trying to upload that fuck for six damn u punk ass times. Why apple? Fuck you! I'll put the archive on a stick an ram it right into your ass you shitty fuck! JUST TAKE MY BINARY RIGHT NOW!
Don't take it to serious. I'm okay 😎
If any iOS developers are wanting a good repo to follow, I believe HeadGazeLib is about to take off.
There's been a few articles about how eBay is using head tracking to allow for hands free shopping (huge for accessibility!) If the rumors are true, then Apple should be announcing many more devices that support Facial Recognition (like the iPhone X). If they do, then there will a huge surge in games/apps that tap into that technology.
HeadGazeLib makes it super easy to incorporate Head Tracking in your apps, so I think with all the publicity, it will quickly rise to the #1 head tracking "add-on".
Ok so another short rant about project I ranted before. We are developing Android and iOS social app for around 6 months, apps should have been in store during September . Turns out sometimes during August Apple decided that all apps of appstore that communicate with server have to implement ipv6 also Amazon had support ipv6 on its old ec-classic instances but not on new ec-vpc instances. I have worked until middle of the night trying to find work around for this but at the end we need to find another host that supports ipv65
Use Swift Package Manager, they said.
I'll be great, they said.
"Note that at this time the Package Manager has no support for iOS, watchOS, or tvOS platforms." - https://github.com/apple/...
For all the iOS developers in here, Xcode 8.2.1 has a bug, when trying to sign an archive for store deployment, you will get an unexplained error saying "code signing fail", after for hours of frustration, tears and trial and error, I ended up signing it with xcode 7. I hope this helps2
I know we are all bored of the big official public devices and features accounted in the apple keynote(also we are confused because it was the weirdest??)
I was just wondering if any one has messed around with the new Xcode beta/instruments overhaul? Thoughts on the actual usefulness of instruments with iOS 10?
So if universal apps are coming to macOS, does that mean we'll be able to use React Native and friends to create native desktop apps and ditch Electron and it's insatiable hunger for memory.
I mean that's cool, but why not just embrace PWA's?2
Why is iOS debugging so fucking useless? Instead of having a normal stack trace which takes you to the line of code that went wrong it just takes you to the bootstrap line in AppDelegate with a random code and basically says "Fuck you, figure it out yourself". Their stack traces are just as useless. IS THIS WHAT SOME PEOPLE CALL THE PREMIERE DEVELOPMENT EXPERIENCE, GODDAMNIT? at least Swift is nice tho, unlike Objective-C4
Quick question to you guys and gals,
I really want to become an iOS app developer. I know it would be long and painful way to learn Objective-C (some say it looks like alien language compared to C). Swift is rather new, much easier to learn, but I know Objective-C is a must to be considered as true iOS dev.
The question is: is there such a need of iOS developers (I mean UK/Canada/US/Germany)?. I live in Poland and there's not much to do in iOS development (few job offers, everybody is hyped by JS and frameworks changing every year, some offers are often underpayed remote work for foreign clients). I am now 20 years old, still learning at Uni and not having any responsibilities, so I may go someday to UK for a year or two, since the market for iOS devs is more diversed and bigger than in Poland. I know I am complaining (most Poles do that), but I've learned English since I was 4 and it's a pity not to use it as a resource to get a better job offer than in my mother country.
Thanks for all the responses, especially from people working as iOS devs3
Is there any way to build React-Native iOS app without an Apple machine?
Currently I am on Debian, and Android version of the react-native app is working fine.12
Another Mojave Post...
Apple added 4 new apps, all of which cannot be removed (oh boy am I off to a great start). I saw the new home app and thought "if your stuck here I might as well attempt to put you to some use" so I opened it to try and maybe add my smart plug or something, but it told me I need an iOS device to add accessories...
Why the fuck is there any functionality that is locked behind iOS especially something as integral to the core functionality of the app like adding a fucking device to an app that manages them.
On a side note apparently news is bugged for me and I cannot find it it the launchpad so that's slightly less bloat.2
Some iOS APIs are just retarded.
Apple's retarded double negative:
myUIButton.isHidden = fasle
How about just:
myUIButton.isShown = true4
I plan to change my working machine and decided to go with mbp but I confused which one to choose, whether 13" or 15". Which one the most suitable for dveloping mobile apps?4
I'm 99% sure that stuff Johnny Ive goes over about how "For every 1000 no's there's 1 yes" for the iPhone is about the number of errors that are thrown before they finally get something to work with no errors
Pressing the provisioning profiles "fix this issue" button in Xcode... And getting roasted for being a noob by the entire office.1
So I'm I'll right now and my boss needed to upload an app to Apple store.
So the app was made in unity and it already takes like 5m just to build from unity to xcode.
After that. He could not figure out how to upload the stuff bc there was a missing provisioning profile and then the team information was missing and then other tens of stuff.
Now android does not have this problem at all, like why is iOS so complicated? Fuck Apple1
I am so close to done on my first solo app I've worked on for 6 months that could beat down similar corporate apps. Friends and family are proud, but don't really know what I mean. Just happy.
What are nice apps to learn swift dev? :) I'm tired of all those TO-DO's apps or calculators
I wanna build something that makes me explore the capabilities of the language in deep, not just the tip
I read your comments :33
I just got to college and can do web dev fairly well (Mern stack mostly). But tbh I am now more interested in being an app developer. Should I try to learn React Native/Flutter or Kotlin/Swift3
Want to use RFCOMM on iOS.
Need to enrol in MFi program.
I have a complex project that now has to support BLE cause an iOS app is required. Can someone explain why the fuck Apple does this shit?4
This is a rant, this is a FUC$%NG RANT:
Damn you Apple and making parsing iOS receipts such a pain!
Said while screaming for help 😱😱😱😱
I am looking for a nice Android launcher that has the option to create groups in the app drawer. Similar to What apple offers on iOS.7
Idk if any iOS developers wanted to get work done this week, but Apple and Alamofire have made sure that is impossible.
Push through y'all ❤️
Every time Apple updates iTunes, everything moves, becomes less understandable and takes more clicks to happen.
And I still have to put up with it because it's the ~most convenient~ way of updating iOS apps if you have multiple Apple IDs.
Just drop it already, will ya Apple?
When your weekend starts with: ahh just gonna chill and test my apps background-fetch mode and realizing it dont work with async requests and silent push-notifications, spending the weekend adding syncronious requests for silent push. Why does apple hate developers??
Nokia to resurrect 3110 model!! They have announced 3 other smart phones too. But no android tie up in place. It's a big gamble, fingers crossed for Nokia!
Don't disappoint us!!!2
Made an app for a client on both iOS and Android, published the the app on app store and google play at the same time week ago, google published the app within 2 hours, apple still though, WHY THE FUCK WE PAY THEM 99$ LER YEAR BRUH, THEY NEED A CERTIFICATE OF OWNER SHIP ON THE APP BRAND NAME SMH, CHANGE THIS AND THAT, FUCK THIS SHIT 2 WEEKS TO PUBLISH AN APP AND MY CLIENT IS YELLING WTF3
Nothing infuriates me more than how Safari on iOS supports less standards than IE6. How can we live in a world of standards with Apple giving us the middle finger.2
I've been an android/anti-ios person for around a decade and im now seriously considering switching to ios when the new iphones land. My mother is an apple nut and my brother is on android and everytime i bring up even the slightest nitpick about ios or macos (such as the fact that the "always use this application" checkbox on macos does not work or that you have to upload music through itunes) they jump on the "wtf then why would even consider it??????" train. In short its because ios seems at least a little bit more stable overall (havent had much experience with ios in general this is really more of a first impression). Well I got a replacement LG V20 just over a year ago and it has not aged well, had to replace the battery because i barely got 4 hours with minimal usage, even when i got the thing it was rather jittery, and its just now getting oreo (and surely wont be getting pie). Hell i was removing several apps earlier and it took a solid 4 MINUTES to uninstall an icon pack. After some investigation into the ios ecosystem i found that all the apps that i would need are on there so that was great. What im really hoping for though is some stability/longevity, im ok with paying around 1000 for a phone if it lasts a while and stays in decent shape. Finally the fact that the updates are sparing at best (with the exception of pixel phones) is a great annoyance whereas my mothers (around 4 years old) ipad is rocking ios 11. Could someone who has made the leap make a recommendation? I love android but i feel like all i would accomplish is buying another phone that craps out after less than a year.7
Adhering to Apples million and one icon requirements, including the 1px size difference icon and then reading "@3x about 66 pixels" Implementing the million different icons into the application only to find that it's using the smallest one anyway...1
Do you know why I like to develop for iOS?
Cause I enjoy the challenge of making shitty hardware run faster.2
Google just fucked Apple so hard by extending Assistant to iOS! Now let's see wether Siri visits Android 😝! I think it was more arousing than porn, "pun intended" 😂 ...
I'd like to ask peoples opinions on building cross platform apps. So basically I'm on windows, and these insatiably annoying project leads (I fell for the "you code make me an app" one) want it to be cross platform. My first thought was PWAs, but then read that apple are dicks and some of the most important features are not actually supported (#!@?). So then it's ionic or Cordova, but who likes CSS? Or Angular 2? And for a native experience, I'd want to follow both iOS and android design patterns in the same codebase which is way beyond my pay grade. React native comes from Facebook, so I already hate it. Should I just build an android app and cross the iOS bridge later or build a not very native feeling, not vertically centred cross platform Cordova thing? Anyone who's had experience using Cordova care to comment on their successes / failures?13
Spend hours trying to activate dev mode on iphone with ios > ios 8 :( PLEASE HELP !!!!
Why apple always remove good features...1
• 6.9B transistors
• 6 CPU cores
• 4 GPU cores
• 8 “neural” cores
• 5 trillion ops/sec
• 512GB addressable storage
• Oh and the rest of the “stuff” for a SoC
tl;dr Apple is the leading chip innovator and creator in the world.
Don't @ me4
While i am an iPhone user.
Siri you have to catch up to google. I feel iOS itself needs to catch up. Apple where is your innovation
I am a beginner in iOS development. Currently, I am on my week 3rd of training in the iOS development and I am glad to admit that it has been a smooth ride to understand iOS concept. I know a bit about Massive View Controllers and how they are much of a headache for this community. So, one fine day I was surfing the web and reading blogs to understand app architectural patterns in iOS. So I just stumbled on this (https://simform.com/mvc-mvp-mvvm-io...). It recommends using MVVM when your team relies on test driven development.
Just wanted to know if anyone can explain to me how MVVM can be used for test-driven development?2
Why the fucking apple take so much time to make app online in App Store? I am loosing my mind literally.
Learn something from Google.
damn ios sucks ass. you seriously don't support any good css. I feel like I have to hack everything since you can't even do zindexes correctly or background-size:cover.1
Hey iOS devs 👋🏻 have you ever released an app internally without the Apple developer program? 🤔I need an alternative and I hope you can help me please3
Freaking Apple!!! I am trying to replicate Safari's new ITP rules and wanted to see if there was a easy way to test the 30 day rule rather then waiting for 30 days. I would appreciate any input!
Can an app built with Cordova, designed without following Apple's Human Interface Guidelines (so basically a responsive website), be published on the App Store?2
Are there any services that will compile your apps for iOS? I mean if you don't have an Apple computer yourself. If I use something like react native I could only compile it for android.6
If i need to get an apple computer just to build for ios devices, what would be the cheapest device devrant would recommend if i'll i'm going to do with it is compile simple iphone apps, and compile unity games to work on ios.8
Unity VS Xcode for beginner noob iOS game development? Is it better for a new programmer to learn Unity or learn the frameworks Apple offers?1
