Internet Explorer:

It doesn't add http automatically.
It doesn't add https automatically.
IT TRIES TO SEARCH IT ON BING
I freaking hate IE13 -

In my web dev class today the person beside me was having an issue. The professor comes over and tells him to open the HTML file in whatever browser he wants. His exact words were: "Use your favorite browser."
The kid opened fucking IE.5 -
Non-dev coworker (ndc) sees me using google chrome: I don't understand why chrome is so popular. I hate it and don't know why anyone would use it.
Me: what browser do you use?
NDC: internet explorer.
Me: why do you like ie better than chrome?
NDC: it does everything chrome can do and it's free.
Me: ie can NOT do everything chrome can do and chrome is free. You just have to download it from google.
NDC: no I read that chrome is proprietary software and why would I pay to use it when ie is free.
Me: ie is also proprietary software. Proprietary doesn't necessarily mean it costs money it's just not open source. Plus ie is not free. You paid for it when you bought the windows license that came with your computer.
NDC: no ie was already on the computer when I bought it so I didn't have to pay for it.
Me: it was included in the price of the computer but you still paid for it.
NDC: whatever I'm going to keep using ie because it's free for me.
ARE YOU RETARDED???27 -
QA just asked me, why does the website look so ugly and no CSS is working on Internet Explorer
I'm lucky I'm not the web dev lol
*I laughed*
*IE laughed*
*Windows laughed*9 -
Had a request from a client once, "I'd like that our site supports only IE10 and above. However if the visitor uses older IE version, say IE6, things should look and work the same as IE10".10

How to hide your important files from people without making Hidden folders?
1. Go to Desktop and create a new folder
2. Name the folder Internet Explorer
3. Change the folder icon to Internet Explorer
4. Keep it in a corner of the desktop
Now, no one will open internet explorer 😂7 -
Q: Why always when Dora asks a question, it takes a while until she answers back?
A: Because she's an "Explorer"...4 -
Me: hello IE, you see that div with id?
IE: ...... ..... .... yes.
Me: would you like to set it as absolute and stick to bottom?
IE: ........... i don't know...
Me: but all the other guys like chrome and firefox are doing it.. come on it's not object-fit: cover; just absolute positioning. Please.
IE: ......... I can't!
Me: why the fuck not??
IE: ......because I don't see the id...
Me: FUCK YOU YOU FUCKING PIECE OF FUCKING SHIT!!!!!
IE:...............10 -
Why the fuck would anyone still want to support IE? It's 2018 for fuck sake! Sure, there's no reason a website shouldn't work on IE, but do I really need to fuck it up just because something doesn't properly align in IE?
Fuck IE! Why can't we just let it die?11 -
Microsoft: We're brings new updates to Edge....
Me: Oh nice, was about time.
**Reads changelog**
"Edge now has support for Internet Explorer"
"No, really, you can now run IE in Edge."
Me: Oh for Fuck Sake!15 -
!rant but True story!
OMG, my coworker (rather elderly if it matters), asked if he needs to open webapp in internet exploder.. < - It was intentional, but this happened in convo over morning coffe and me and some other guy almost choked with laugher & coffee..
Fucking brilliant! IE = Internet EXPLODEr! Love it!
Man, I love my coworkers (some)!!!!6 -
Boss: A client has reported that he can't add products to the cart he gets redirected to "empty cart page" on safari or edge not sure, can you check it out?
Me: Yes
later...
Me: It's working on safari and edge but not on IE, I get that exact same problem on IE.
Boss: ok don't mind about IE
Me (inside) I've lived long enough to hear that YEAH !!!
Goodbye my old friend IE hahaha :D4 -
IE can go fuck itself.
Today, the reason the some JS broke is because it couldn't handle tabs. Works fine in any other browser.
Replace all tabs with spaces and bam, everything works again.

So there's a recent rant, about making a website work for IE.
I get it, you don't want to make it work for IE because you don't use IE.
But get this: you're not doing the site FOR YOU. You're doing it for the intended user, which is a lot of users that use all kinds of shit. If you don't want to do that, get the fuck out of web development, or from development overall. It's not for you.
I remember when I started my career, I had to make a web app that was intended to be used by, say, 100 people. As a developer I had the best tools for that - cool new 19" monitors, good GPU able to spit out a humongous resolution, and I designed that portal to look great. You know what my superior did then? He took away my 19" monitor and gave me a 14" monitor instead, saying that I became a spoiled brat that totally ignored the customer. I was angry at that, but immediately realized that he was completely right.
It doesn't matter! that it works on your machine. Who the fuck cares about your machine?
Does the software work for the intended user? If not, then you're a shitty developer.22 -
All web developers should support up to IE9 without any problems.
Why? Because in Korea, it is normal.
Every person uses that damn Win7, which has either IE9 or IE10. Without IE support, no one will browse your webpage.
Now you would ask us, why don't you use other modern browsers?
We would then ask you, why would you install a new browser that is
1. Buggy
2. Heavy
3. Takes up ram
4. Has so many features
when you have an awesome minimalistic browser that is preinstalled, and works in all Windows? No thanks.
So, if you put a message saying you will soon drop support of IE, it means that you won't target Korea. Just after the support drop, there won't be traffic to your web site.
So what is the point of this rant?
1. We love IE. Lol
2. IE is lightweight, minimalistic, and the fastest browser in the world.
3. All websites should NOT drop support for IE.
4. We don't care whether web devs will have a hard time. We just think websites are built with Wix and Wordpress, and they work in IE, meaning, IE support is the number one priority.
5. If you ever start a business in Korea, and has a website, make sure to hire an senior Korean web dev who has worked with IE for a long time.
6. Here is the tl;dr
Hate us. Period.25 -
That weird and uncomfortable feeling you get when trawling through analytic data only to realise your top 5 browsers are in order:
Google Chrome
iOS Safari
IE11
Edge
Firefox
I think I need to go back to testing things in IE again 😫10 -
2007
Works in all browsers, except IE. Rewrite JavaScript to work in IE.
2017
Same but replace IE with Edge.11 -
Dear Microsoft,
Please kill Internet Explorer post haste. The last time I want to hear "IE" is from the screaming sounds of your hated browser dying in a fire.
Sincerely,
A web dev9 -
I got an email a couple days ago about a tweet a made about how web developers are unanimously very happy that Microsoft is dropping IE. I got a very angry email from someone who really loved Internet Explorer, apparently 🤔, saying that my tweet was, and I quote "offensive to those who used it loyally for years". That was hysterical for me to read.14
-
Github, you had one job. They are giving out a warning for old safari version, but show the IE icon..6
-
So I went to an ATM hoping to withdraw some money, I was greeted by this instead. It says "to begin, type in the search box" in an IE window.8
-
Client informs dev team that he is upgrading all his machines from IE8 to IE11.
~700 lines of hacky js and css previously commented as "//Workaround for IE" removed.
Pure satisfaction.6 -
So I finished my personal website. It works fine on every browser... Except IE. All JS functions pass the compatibility check and I don't get any errors. Great.6
-
I have just thought of the perfect solution when support for fucking ancient IE versions creaps in the requirements (and asking the assholes to produce numbers to support the crazy does not help)
Just do browser detection and if IE < 9 Replace body with one of those winXP alert boxes that tell them there Computer is infected and that they can get a free scan (it's what they are used to anyway). Put a link to the installer of your favourite browser over the entire image.😎
Good news is 100℅ code reuse! Works on every outdated IE and every website that requires IE support.4 -
Lets have a moment of silence for the devs who created IE and Edge.
I'm sure many who worked on them are great devs and at one point were very proud and inspired by their work but upper management ultimately fucked everything up. The IE guys have since been ridiculed and the Edge devs had to create a peice of software that they knew was destined to be one of the most critically reviewed and ridiculed releases ever.
My heart goes out to all of you and we would love to hear your rants. Your welcome here anytime.4 -
Why would someone in the fucking year of 2018 use fucking IE and only IE?
People need to understand that the sole purpose of IE is to download chrome🤣😂
No matter the framework/language you use it is guaranteed to crash in IE.
It's gonna be a glorious day😂15 -
It was the year 2000, when IE was considered awesome. The internet then was slow and expensive and I had a quota about half an hour a day for dial up.
I discovered that I could view the source code of any page and while it looked rather cryptic I slowly started to understand how it worked. After months of tinkering in Notepad, I was able to write some html and JavaScript. No books, no online tutorials, just pure act of curiosity and a sense of adventure.
How to write JavaScript properly had to wait for another decade after an engineering degree, a dozen other languages, and new browser. But those tinkering days were what got me into coding.1 -
I just sent an email to a client about a bug fix with Bootstrap 3 Date/Time Picker, which was not working with Firefox and Safari.
My email was like this "The bug has been fixed and it will work on most browsers except IE and Edge."
He replied "Great!! I don’t like internet explorer anyway…"
I love these kinds of clients.4 -
That glorious moment when you remove a function from your Javascript.
is_internet_explorer()
It's one job was to detect and prompt a user about not using IE on this shit for a stain website - ironically built for IE 😂
You sir, will not be missed 🥳11 -
I swear to god Chrome is becoming the new IE.
For some fucking reason it decided to add additional few pixels or margin to an element and fucked up my layout.
Firefox? It works. Edge? Works. Fucking IE - WORKS. Chrome? Shits the bed.
What the actual fuck, Google? Weren't you supposed to be the one working properly?
Not to mention forced renaming my local .dev TLDs...7 -
Watching Google Analytics for my company's customer facing tools.
Almost half our traffic is made up of IE and Edge.
In that IE group, somewhere, there is a sad strange little user still on IE 8. Just one.
Poor guy.....5 -
When you ask the IT-Department of a company collab with Microsoft, why you aren't allowed to use Firefox instead of IE.
The answer is: "It's insecure because it's open source"
YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME INSECURE ??? IT IS MORE SECURE AS IE!!! INSECURE BECAUSE OPEN SOURCE? THAN LET'S USE CHROME OR OPERA INSTEAD BUT NOT IE2 -
The not supporting browser part is ok but I'm not on windows using ie but on my phone using my default browser ........
Also how dare they put ie on my phone without telling me ........4 -
Boss found a wierd bug in code that only happenes in IE10. Closed Jira-task with note; Stop using IE, or update to IE112

// Snippet

*sigh*
People laugh at it when you say Internet Explorer is a Pain in the *ss to develop for, because they think it's just a cliché or some sort and think it's not that bad.. but no .. really.. F*ck IE.. :D It f*cked me over so many times..
"Oh Hey, I don't recognize this basic html attribute value you are using, so I'm not going to report an error in the console or so, ima let you search, sweat, get angry, .. Oh Hey, you're not using the right doctype? Let me crash your entire javascript functionality, .. Oh Hey, this CSS selector? I never heard of it.. "8 -
I think my IE knows it's crap & is trying to hide.. xD
Actually took me a second to locate the little mofo on the desktop O.o
Ohe yeah, this is actual window size it opened itself in.. the picture is not cropped.. only magnified when uploaded..4 -
That moment when your site is working beautifully on your installed browsers... and then you test it on IE.
-
trying to use flexbox when you have to support IE. fuck IE. fuck it. fuck it in the ass with a rusty pipe.8
-
Unsurpisingly, an in-house client reported a visual bug in IE. So I candidly asked him which version of browser he was running. He told me with confidence: 11. As I couldn't reproduce the bug I asked him where he found the version number. He answered: "below the laptop on a sticker".
Well, it happened to be the year of construction of the computer.2 -
"Ultron brings to you the best in security and encryption, directly taken from IE 5.5."
*screams internally*2 -
What manager says: You should support IE because a very large portion of our userbase is already there and they somewhat comply with web standards so it shouldn't be that hard. Also most good sites support IE so we should support it too.
What web developer hears: blah blah blah SUPPORT IE blah blah blah SUPPORT IE9 -
Fuck edge and fuck ie
Its particularly funny when something works on IE...but not on edge. Go fucking figure.
Bing is ok ms...y'all should focus on that. Ie was semiok back in the day but your browser game is weak af b.
Like seriously
"Edge and ie are awesome"
Said no web developer ever7 -
Holding off the website launch date because IE 8 isn't compatible! Can't wait for IE to be discontinued!9
-
My Neighbors still have written "Merry X mas" on their window... I am not sure if they're dead or just using IE
-
Nope, in my place it is...
1. Chrome
2. IE
Thank me later when you get a job here, probably shouldn't8 -
this === 'rant'

A million dollars for the head that creates a lethal virus that forcefully uninstalls IE and installs Firefox/Chrome and unleashes it upon planet Earth. Sorry if this sounds too harsh but guess what? FUCK IE.13 -
After being live multiple years supporting only Safari, Firefox, and Chrome, one customer wanted IE support. After taking a close look at the usage numbers, and discussing with us front-end devs, our product guy shot it down. Pop the champagne!2
-
End User: The program isn't working
Me: What were you trying to do?
End User: blah blah blah
Me: Are you using IE?
End User: Yes, I always use IE everything should work with it.
Me: Didn't you see the email to the listserv explicitly saying not to use IE?
End User: I did, but I only like to use IE.
Me: (bangs head against desk & loses all hope)3 -
So after two hours of debugging I get to know that Chrome doesn't differentiate between font-weight 100-500 unless on a Mac, and IE does, but IE doesn't support the <picture > tag 😶9
-
sends me a "screencap.avi" on slack. I download and open it, and it's a video of an IE bug where the width of the scroll bar itself takes up just enough that the content gets enough height to trigger a scroll bar to appear, so the whole page keeps twitching because the scroll bar keeps appearing and disappearing every second. LMAO FML FUCK IE7
-
!wk66
Maybe?
If we (Web makers) stop making [ie,safari, android native browser] compatible websites... Maaaaybe, just sayin' maaaybee THEY will take some time to support web standards ?? maybe ?10 -
I had to write a job portal which had to be done in php5.6 and mariadb and it had to be IE compatible. All of those good things.7

How Bad I'm at frontend Development: about 3 year ago i accidentally wrote </from> instead of </form> while working on the frontend of a website, everything just went bonkers. Took me 10+ hours to realize my mistake.
In my opinion frontend devs are real hero they have to learn multiple frameworks, and make website respinsive and work on IE at the same time. Idk Why the fuck clients still want their website to work on IE (fuck you Carl, your users are of age group 15-22 they don't even know wtf IE is)
P. S. At that time i didn't knew HTML validators are a thing.6 -
Stupid piece of legacy shit needing to silent print without the dialogs in IE on windows 10.
this is proving to be a thing of nightmares.
this has worked for years but no windows need to block this “for security”
windows and security - i would laugh but this is going to keep me awake at night.1 -
Just got my hand on a new Windows 10 machine and used IE for its one true purpose.
Yet what I saw truly boggled my mind.
Wow. Microsoft truly got an inferiority complex nowadays.
(And I had to smile about the "browse longer" part, given I am on a desktop workstation I no fucks are given about battery live.)6 -
Fuck IE, Edge, everyone who worked on them and their ancestors.
Specially fuck their obtuse need to utterly ignore common standard expected fucking behaviour for CSS3 -
just can't read 'IE is the browser to download other browsers' anymore.. how many times will it be posted? the joke is more than 5years old5
-
*pointing on IE icon* but does it work on the internet?
Setting my lovely grandma's new router since she now got fiber. Opening Firefox and pages load fast, still had to show that is also worked on "internet" to make her happy2 -
Today I had a dinner with several members of my family. At some point my uncle decided to bring up ‘tech stuff’ so we can talk about it. Nevertheless, few seconds in he was trying to convince me that IE is the best browser, being far superior than firefox, chrome etc.
I just nodded and started talking about how HTML is the language to learn if you want to be a dev 😅😂4 -
I know I can't be the only one thinking safari is the new IE, like "it has to work on safari" makes me way more sad than "it has to work on edge"
IE is default unsupported in my company
This time around I figured out that fucking safari can't work properly with dates!
Like:
new Date("2019-05-16 11:00") // won't work
new Date("2019/05/06 11:00") // will work
new Date("16/05/2019 11:00") // won't work
new Date("11/05/2019 11:00") // will work, but it's November the 5th
Ok, the last 2 bugs are due to English&American who can't understand how dates work, but still... WHY IS SAFARI THE ONLY DIFFERENT ONE?8 -
H.R: "How do we make our employees feel like they want to jump from a bridge?"
Random Person: "I know, let's make them use IE!"
Me: Looking up bridges nearby. -
This is not something new but I want to say it loud again.
With all my heart, fuck you internet explorer. Windows should release a FORCED update (sorry for that) and remove it from every fucking version of windows and antivirus programs should detect it as a virus. It should be removed from existence and browser lists and also saying its name should be crime. Also, please remove it and any releated memories with it from our brains.
Thanks.9 -
Opening up IE11 to test HTML in local development.
Entering local IP to URL bar and IE decides to look for that IP address in Bing... 🤬🔫
No that's not how you do it IE.1 -
FUCKING IE!
Anyone please remember to ask if the project|s that you're going to work on do|es need Internet Explorer support.
If it's the case just expect any resemblance of modern frontend development skills go backwards into the backward compatibility territory and never going forward.
I'll start looking for another job, can't be bothered for this payment and regressing my dev skills for client needs.
Again FUCK YOU IE!6 -
Nope!
Korea still uses ActiveX for payments so will take another decade.
Good try though 🤣🤣
(And you should probably know ActiveX only works in IE, rip Apple users)4 -
Trying to inspect something to see if it works in IE.
FUCK YOU IE! this piece of pure garbage should be fucking illegal!1 -
The reason for half the web-dev world sufferings is that Microsoft won't stop choking their users with explorer or edge, and half of the client are too dumb or lazy to download a different browser to test stuff. Fuck this shit man! Nothing works the way it should on this bitch.
Everytime my manager says- It should work perfectly on IE because client doesn't have any other browser, I curse IE for exisiting. If you can't improve it, just remove it you freakin' sadists. It'll not be an embarrassment to load something better on your OS. If anything, it'll get people to like you maybe. Like you for accepting your fuckery and making a decision in favor of the web dev world and innocent windows users, who only use your explorer to download other browser asap. For just that one time and for all your arrogance, you're making the whole world suffer.2 -
I feel like an old man when I hear the Safari rants.
"In my day we had to support IE 6... and we liked it!"4 -
DAPHNE: We finally caught the mean old Edge Browser! Now let's find out who you *really* are!
SCOOBY: Ruh-roh!
SHAGGY: Yoink!
DAPHNE: Gasp! It was Old Man Trident Rendering Engine all along!
VELMA: We could have worked it out from how Edge has exactly the same bugs and performance problems is IE!
OLD MAN TRIDENT: And I'd have got away with it if it wasn't for you pesky kids!8 -
Browser rant:
I just want to get this off my chest, IE isn't a bad browser. It's highly outdated but it was good back when the alternatives weren't there. And today it's new "browser update" Edge isn't bad either. Edge really is a neat freaking piece of software. Microsoft tries their best to make a browser for their operating system (and a browser engine for their new app format!) that means it has couple of features the alternatives don't (or only with plugins) - oh and plugins, they're coming too. And still it's not slow either. From my own experience (I say this because every user says their browser is the fastest) it's way faster than Quantum. Yet Quantum is still a very good browser because it's faster than the old firefox, I guess it's open source(?) and still a privacy focused browser. Chrome (my personal favorite) on the other hand is really the fastest thing you can get - if you allow it to use all your ram - (if people like linuxxx say firefox is faster for them, I'll just smile) but for everyone worrying about ram usage and "spying", well - you know what I mean. And still I can understand people trying opera or FF/Chrome/Edge mods, I myself love "Monument". Just stop saying a browser is bad because it doesn't have what you like/does have what you don't like. The only bad browser is Midori, okay? 😘
Tl;dr
IE isn't bad but old. Edge isn't bad today. Every high end browser (edge, quantum, chrome) has their perks and none of them is "bad".
Q/A:
What's your favorite Browser? Comment below9 -
So today when I was testing my new website I learned that IE/Edge does not support smooth scrolling with JavaScript.
I get why it doesn't work in IE but Edge... like what? Edge is supposed to be a modern browser... No?8 -
How to tell your babe not to use ie:
Me: Babe could you please stop using the internet explorer?
Babe: why?
Me: It will destroy your internet.3 -
@jenochi this is for you
Due to a recent suggestion by the above-mentioned @jenochi, I though that this deserved to be a rant.
Dropping support for IE will once and for all ease web developers lives and it has got to start somewhere. Who's with us!?7 -
What's wrong with Mozilla?!
Savvy webdevs use link preloading to break up dependency chains for late discovered resources, and users like the faster loading as result. Firefox 56 started supporting that two and a half years ago. Turned out they had screwed up and it didn't work with non-cacheable resources. So Mozilla "fixed" that by disabling the feature altogether behind some config flag.
And they left it at that - still not supported. They even had patches, but decided not to merge them and instead try something different, some day.
Is Firefox becoming the new IE or what?6 -
Today is “Visit your parents and secretly install Chrome as the default browser” day.
Make sure you’ve visited your parents and switched their IE to Chrome.9 -
!rant
Managed to find an advantage of IE, and it's not for downloading Firefox or Chrome.
Nah, I just discovered that you can actually add a shortcut on your bar task on Win7 with the favicon of the website (I guess it's the favicon), and IE will directly open to it with slight minor color changes.
So now when I need to check if any commit were made on the repository, I have a shortcut to the website so I can check fastly o/
(why I use IE for that ? Because Firefox and the proxy have some issues, and I had bad experience with Chrome. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But IE does the small job I give him, so I don't complain)1 -
My friend's Client Programming (JavaScript class)'s professor wants their students to use pure JavaScript to make applications that works on IE 6 and up...4
-
My JS app can crash IE11. Totally reproducable.
Had a fun debugging session to find out how this is triggered. Happens inside a deeply recursive call in a library I'm using which redraws the DOM.
Found a hacky workaround to avoid that as I see no real solution. It's not like I'm responsible for fixing IE. These are the days where I'm happy I'm mainly a backend dev...4 -
So just read up that some companies based in china were able to attack Google back in 2009, all cause IE had a dangling pointer issue.
*Sarcastic claps* -
Today on "fuck Firefox": elements with display: inline and position: relative completely mess up z-index and nested fixed / absolute positioned elements. It's a known bug, it has open issues on bugzilla since 2005, but still no fix. IE 8 can get it right, but not Firefox...9
-
Today I had to write some shitty code that should work on ie in compatibility mode which is like ie in Version 6. I only coded on the clients system and never backed up. Silly me. Every think worked so I continued with another clients project. Suddenly my colleague came in our office and told me that the client deleted my code by accident. I never will keep code on client systems only again in the future.1
-
Been spending the afternoon working with our IT department helping them use the webpage they supposedly designed so they can help me with a separate issue. Turns out they were using IE...7
-
After a few days of debugging why sessions where getting lost in some versions of IE11 when all the other browsers where working just fine.
I found the solution in giving IE a potato.
Solution:
header ('P3P: CP='Potato')1 -
As a developer I don't have to mess with css very often but when I do and have to fix something for IE the element disappears in ever other browser.... Fml2
-
One little question!
If you build a website, is it necessary to make it also work on IE?
Not so many are using it and i don't see the point. Idk8 -
why do cooperate companies insist in using IE. IE is stupid 😟 I can't take IE's shit, man.
Me : "please install chrome on users computers.."
them: "no we are upgrading to IE 10 today.."
me: " but whyy? 😟.. at least upgrade to IE 11 😟"1 -
The moment when your website works in every modern browser but not in IE 7 and downwards but the QM want you to make it work in IE :/9

Juno finally reached Jupiter, it takes 49mins for a signal to be sent to or received from Earth. IE users would know how that feels like😛2

Friends: Finally got my stream setup ready! now I can stream pokemon swsh!
Me: Finally got my app to run in IE 11! Now I can fix that bug that only exists on IE 11. I hate IE 117 -
Just used IE on a fresh Windows install to download Chrome..... Now looking for a way to get rid of IE completely.
Seems about right!6 -
You are almost done with your project. And lowest version of IE it needs to works on is 10 and that makes you happy! That means you are getting old because you remember the IE 6 days.1
-
That moment when you have to file your hours worked, but the service we use to do so *exclusively* runs on *Internet Explorer* so you have to shut down your Linux distro with all the stuff you have running, boot up your Windows pro partition and log into your service, just to punch in a couple numbers.
Seriously. A website that runs *exclusively* on IE?? What the fuck.3 -
*Writing JS validation*
step1: testing for the 1st time
Chrome: all good
Firefox: with bug
IE: ugh... it's hard to explain
step2: fixing script
Chrome: all good
Firefox: all good
IE: with bug
step3: fixing script for IE
Chrome: with bug
Firefox: with bug
IE: with bug
step4: revert to step 2
Sorry, IE, but I don't know what you disliked there... -
Once I had to style comboboxes with only css so that they would look equal on all browsers... Equal meant they would look like the IE comboboxes with 2 pixel fugly borders, a gray focus state that felt more like a disabled state to me ... And it was horrible!
-
Updated my TP-Link router's firmware today. Because.. new is better than old? Anyway, I tried to enter the settings page. Page not found. Chrome seems to find the page too unsecure to enable me to access it. Before the upgrade I've never had an issue opening that page with Chrome.
Opened it through IE and, a miracle, the page is right there for me to use.
Google had very little to say on the matter. Looks like I'll be using IE once in a while after all.
Any ideas on why that's happening?5 -
My company forces our users to use ie in compatibility mode for intranet
Fuck this shit:
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge" />1 -
So the time has come for me to officially say "Fuck IE".
The potential client, one of the major hospital chain in the country, wants the site to work in Internet Explorer. Can't believe they are still clinging on stupid IE because Google Chrome is insecure 😂
There is no way all the charts and graphs we made would work in IE.
To top it off, the "bluffon" boss came up with idea of using flash to display this features on IE.
It's fucking 2017!!8 -
A friend to chrome dev:
hey, what r u doing these days?

A friend to IE dev:
Hey, what r u doing these days?
IE dev:
I work at Microsoft.

"Bug: IE 10/11 open silverlight when trying to view a MS Office PowerPoint link online"
"Bug: IE doesnt play this 1 video"
The problem is IE right? Not the website or the links? Am I crazy? -
Why would you say that your website should support IE?? Whyyy?? Who uses that except for downloading Chrome? You just make our lives miserable with that :(7
-
When a website works fine in IE10 but not in safari.
Safari, you really are the new ie
(just some minor quirks I had to fix but still 😁) -
I really love JavaScript but the most fustrating thing is solving IE bugs and finding only solution by using jQuery... Yes even in 2016.2

Can PMs still reasonably require web apps to be compatible with Internet Explorer? Does the "you gotta to tailor to everyone’s needs" argument still stand nowadays? I ask this because I’ve been working on a client project for about two years now and last time they asked for IE compatibility was about a year ago. I’m preparing for the next time it absolutely stops functioning with IE to debunk their desire to remain stuck in the year 2003.
I know Microsoft simply isn’t supporting it anymore and are discouraging anyone from using it. I feel like it should be enough of an argument. However, often times enough isn’t enough. Anybody have any arguments or examples of why it’s a terrible idea to stick with it?12 -
Why do people use fucking IE/Edge, that makes Styling so fucking complicated, half of the things are not fucking supported, and these fucking clients want support for those damn fucking piece of shit browsers.
I just want to blow up every fucking computer which still has no other browser Except those pieces of shit.2 -
All users of IE should not have kids, they should die terrible deaths just so they don't spread disease of IE use and we can stop being required to optimize shit for IE. I wish genocide on the IE infidel2
-
Can we also quit with the Internet Explorer jokes? The browser is pretty good now-- and this is coming from a diehard Firefox fanboy. IE jokes are STALE. Thank you.4

I, I don’t even know how to search this... when I run an app from Visual Studio in IE (cancer, I know it’s a long story and above my head) my kerning is a mess. When I publish the same app to the dev server, it’s fine. The kerning appears to be the only thing messed up.3

Custom browser CSS implementation, especially IE and Edge. Also different in device type, looking at you, Safari.😅
-
When I was in my previous company, we used a Jira tag named as 'IE Issue' 😆
The best part is, even clients understood it!
Ouch!!! 😆 -
I heard everythinc bad goes to hell... So internet ex'lorer surely did... But why is the hell hot then??? I thought IE frezzes all the time :/
-
I really need to appreciate IE in so many ways. It let us to install other browsers, test crap JavaScript code and finally recommending customers to use IE to support their app.
-
Chrome doesn't support something, something Firefox doesn't.
When you plan to take a risk, they give F*** you later on.
IE do you even exist? -
Rant!
The wilde difference in native support between IE , gecko and WebKit is like difference between a real burger and MacDonald's,
They're both burgers but one will make you happy and the other will give diarrhea and a swollen butthole -
Looking for WebSockets... when this explanation appears
...or just Forever Frame in IE because... because it is IE -
May someone explain to me why it is that we don't collectively just put IE down by simply not supporting it anymore instead of working around it?6

<!-- KHAN!!!!!!! -->
<!--[if IE]>
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="all-ie-only.css" />

When you swear, because someone is demonstrating something on IE.
Shit, show them a cute pic of my dog! -
This moment, when a single installer installs 43 launchbars for IE, and you arent allowed to install Linux...
-
i developed a code some days back,
QA was completed successfully and no bugs were raised.
i was wondering how in the name of god there is no bug at all as we have to test it for IE🤔
now today on go live day they found a bug specific to IE for text rendering direction.😛 in all other browser its working fir. -
While building this site I decide to check if it works in internet explorer (you know, would be kinda nice) only to find out that apparently even edge does not support the js notation:
class MyClass {
// Stuff here.
}
Throws an exception 'MyClass' is undefined... Fuck you ie. Making me rewrite my damn classes.2 -
just this afternoon i was opening some documents and some html pages
and accidently one of them got opened in IE
IE be like would you like me to be your default browser
Me : you have got the courage to even ask this -
I had an issue with office 2016 add-ons crashing, apparently they use IE, so I looked online for this issue and landed on a Microsoft QA forum, where the issue was IE crashing. Some of the comments on that page were amaizing "IE keeps crashing, I really regret upgrading to Windows 10. I'm a really fustrated small business owner" <- that's just sad...

Quantum, Chrome, IE, Safari (the new IE), but wait... Anyone remember Avant Browser? I fucking loved that shit, seriously.1
-
For once I like Microsoft forcing shit on you. Automatically pinning the new Edge to the taskbar and opening it on startup. Fuck of IE.
-
So... Here it is
I am working in a web application thay only works on IE (I know, it is not my fault), and I asked the programmers that started this project, if we can start using it in another browsers but they told me that it is not possible because 'some javascript may not work in other browsers'.
Is this really possible or they just don't want to code for compatibility with other browsers?3 -
Spent a when afternoon trying to solve a unworking font-face implementation to IE. The implementation was bullet-proof. Guess what, it works on IE11 but the company only uses IE8.. Good thing it's not my job to say which version to use 😄5
-
Ie8 is the oldest browser I'll support. Come to me for anything older and I'll refuse. Even then it's a hassle.
Honestly. It's so old and insecure and someone comes to me asking to support ie 6. Really? I mean, a photography site doesn't need to support that old of a browser.4 -
Trying to set schedule availability on McDonalds UK 'peoplestuffuk[dot]com' fails in chrome, with annoying alert boxes.
Turns out it is developed for IE..2 -
6pm Friday , opening a trouble ticket on a citrix server because an app has the wrong link ie.
