Finally moved. My Internet speed went from 500kbs in general to 50mbs!
I can finally download por.... ISO's without having to wait for hours!40 -

Hello beautiful. Finally got fiber installed. For my girlfriend and me. Not that we really need it... But you know...

Someone on my Facebook was boasting that he now has 1Gb internet speed.
Turns out he bought a 1Gbit ethernet card for his PC and thought that alone would raise his broadband speed..10 -
The awkward moment when your ethernnet cable is the bottleneck in your Internet connection.
Never thought I'd see such speeds in India. Wow moment!
Side note: I was subscribed to a 50mbps plan. Last night my subscriber upgraded their network and just gave me a upgrade FREE of cost.23 -
Upgraded work PC to a SSD. Can't believe the difference it made. It's like a new computer.
Only trouble is, now I can't blame the computer for my slow work...
Maybe I can blame the RAM from now on.9 -
When your client complains there site is slow and you find that they have added 80 full resolution images at 6000x4000 pixels to the home page!11

I finally built a new PC with 8GB memory, i7 4790K and SSD for OS.
My old system was a core2duo with 2GB memory. Android studio used to take 20mins for gradle sync and another 20min for signing apks. "Live preview" and "emulator" was a thing of the future for me. Never used it.
But now things have changed. This thing boots up in less than 5 sec and studio gradle takes less than 30sec. I'm so happy right now! Its like a dream come true! *cries in happiness*16 -
What people say : My computer is a mess and it works damn slow.
What I hear : I don't know fuck about using a computer2 -
Before marrying a programmer, give him a computer with low internet speed.
Then you can understand his real behaviors and ethics. :))3 -
After 4 months I've just realised that my internet is not running higher than 100mpbs because I bought a 100mbps Ethernet switch. -facepalm-6

The download speed surpassed the speed of light this going backwards in time and appearing as negative number.

So today I decided to switch to angular 4(material) on a project I had done. I have to say I am shocked by the sheer size of the node modules dependencies I have to install. Why wouldn't they just ship it all in one package. 😤 I had to install the client, material SDK, animations etc and all this is happening over shit sub-saharan Africa internet speed. I have been setting up for the past 5 hours and I'm only halfway through. If anyone reading this rant has a company that works to bring internet to Africa please hurry. We need you.4

Friend: I bought a new phone.
Me: nice!
Friend: It's really fast coz it has 3gb ram!!
Me: okay... Other specs? Cpu? Camera?
Friend: 13 MEGAPIXELS!
Me: yeah but other specs?
Friend: doesn't matter! The photos are of 8mb!
Me: yeah. Best phone ever. 😑😓11 -
When your internet download speed is faster than your system copy speed. Damn! I need a new laptop !!12

Use SSDs.
It's not hard. They've been around for a while, small ones are cheap now and are more than enough for at least 90% of developers. The rest can probably afford 2TB NVMe.
Why waste 60$ on a worthless 500GB HDD that will load the OS in the time that's enough for you to make scrambled eggs?
Instead, use 60$ on a 128GB SSD. Sure, it's smaller, but if speed is important for you, you can forget a bit about saving all of the porn you see online, or about installing every free game from Steam.
SSDs are cheap already. And the performance advantage they give is ENORMOUS. You can have a core i9, 64GB of fastest RAM bla bla bla, but if you don't have an SSD, a Celeron with an SSD will seem faster.
Get one, and NEVER again cry about long loading times of IDEs, unless you feel like 30 seconds for the longest load time is too much. If your time is THAT valuable, then you can afford NVMe SSDs in RAID 10 (which can be done easily in software with btrfs if you're on Linux).
Seriously!
Every day I see posts like "Visual Studio is crap because it installs for 6 hours", or "Android studio starts in 30 minutes", or "Visual Studio Code sucks because it loads for too long compared to vim".
It's as if you only have access to budget 10 year old computers.27 -
Hesitated for a while before posting this, as I don't like to whine in public but this should be therapeutical
Beware, it's a #longread
Years ago, I thought about how cool it'd be to have conversation-based interactive fiction on my phone. I remember showing early prototypes to my ex in 2012. It took me over 2 years to build up the courage to make it my priority and to take time off. FictionBurgers.com was born.
A few weeks in, a friend of mine forwarded me a link to Lifeline. I was devastated. I literally spent 2 days cursing my past self for not making a move sooner.
I soldiered on, worked 7 months straight on it. Now the tech is 90-95% finished, content is maybe 60% finished and I just... gave up. Every other week now, similar projects are popping up. I'm under-staffed and under-financed compared to them. Beyond the entertainment space, "conversation-based" is hot stuff in 2016, and I still can't seem to know what to do with what I have.
I feel like I had this fantastic opportunity and squandered it, which makes me miserable.
Anyway, just so you get some cheese with my whine, here are a few lessons I learned the hard way:
Lesson #1 : Don't go it alone. I thought I could hack it, and for over 7 months, I did. But sooner or later, shit gets to you, it's just human. That's when you need someone; just so that their highs compensate your lows and vice versa. Most of the actual writing was done by a freelancer (and he did AMAZING WORK, especially considering that I couldn't pay him much) but it's not the same as a partner, who's invested same as you.
Lesson #1.5 : Complementary skills. Just like my fiction project failed because I was missing a writer partner, my fallback plan of getting into conversational tech hit the skids for lack of a bizdev partner. It's great to stick among devs when ranting, but you need to mingle with a variety of people. Some of them are actually ok, y'know :)
Lesson #2 : Lean Startup, MVP. Google those terms if you're not familiar with them. My mistake here (after MVPing the shit out of the tech) was to let my content goal run amok : what made my app superior to the competition (or so I reasoned) was that it would allow for conversations with multiple characters! So I started plotting a story... with 9 characters. Not 2 or 3. NINE FREAKING CHARACTERS! Branching conversations with 9 characters is the stuff of nightmare -- and is the main reason I gave up.
Lesson #3 : Know your reasons. I wasted some much time early on, zig-zaging between objectives:
"I'm just indulging myself"
"No, I really want it to be a project that pays off"
"Nah, it's just a learning opportunity"
"Damn, why is it bothering me so much that someone else is doing the same thing ?"
"Doesn't matter, I just mine finished"
"What a waste of time !!"
etc etc
And it's still a problem now that I'm trying to figure out what to do!
So anyway, that's my story, thanks for readin'
Check out chatty.im/player/sugar-wars if you want to test the most advance version.
Also, I've also tagged this #startupfail, if any of you fine people want to share the lessons you've dearly paid to learn!13 -
Moved to a new place about two months ago.
The internet connection is provided and baked into my rent. Didn't mention anything about speed.
First thing I did was to check with my phone over 2.4 GHz hit about 100/100 and thought.
Sweet! I have the nice 100/100 Mbits speed!
Yesterday I had some issues with my 2.4 GHz band on my phone. (I have a lot of wireless devices, mice, keyboards, headphones, so it makes sense) Couldn't even do a speed check. Was like. What the fuck. Switched to 5Ghz band because it's not as busy with other devices.
Do a speed check.
500/500.
I realize. Wait. I am checking from my phone.
What does my cable connected computer really get?
900/700
Holy shit. I've been connected to gigabit internet for almost two months without knowing.
What the shit. What God have blessed me with such sick speeds?25 -
When I find a video tutorial I like,
"Hey! I might actually watch this in normal speed instead of the usual 2x".5 -
Client just recently called and complained why the system is slow. Luckily, we have the smartest software implementor and asked the client to check the speed of the internet. And there you go, client's net con speed is 145kbps. -_-6

Made advanced tracking system, position, history, speed, allowed areas, warnings, notifications - the whole shabang.
Client is more impressed by form converting hours and minutes into decimals.

Probably it will sound strange or slow to you but my ISP upgraded to optical fiber and now I got 50Mbps from 20Mbps that I had before. I downloaded 1GB file in 3min. I'm so fucking happy.15

Sister: *walks up to me at my desk* Hey, I was wondering if you can undo what you did to the internet and put it back and make it work better in my room and also make it faster
Me: Sure
Yeah, I’ll get right on it and go hit the fucking magic button in the router settings called “enable extended range and make it go faster”.1 -
I switched my router and this happened. It was 10Mbps up and down; now it's this. That can't be right...2

Notice :
Just as all the citizens are advised to use Public Transports so that there's less traffic and its convenient for everyone,
Similarly, everyone it is advisable to use Public WiFis, so that there's less Internet Traffic and everyone gets faster and better Internet services.
An active cooperation is expected from the citizens.
Thank you and have a nice day :) -
I recently got mailed by our support department.
A customer using my program experienced performance issues after updating the whole system; attached is a video recorded by the customer clearly showing the difference.
I watched the video: the old version took 20 seconds to load. The new version 26. After querying the data, it's shown in a list.
The updated version showed 61 datasets instead of 6 in the old version.
I asked the supporter if he even watched the video and he answered: sure, and I'm able to see the performance issue!2 -

Fucking piece of shit German internet man. Some of you might know that Germany probably has the shittiest internet in the EU. And by shitty, I don't mean the downstream speeds you can get (which is how most ISPs justify their crappy network), but the GODDAMN UPSTREAM SPEEDS.
See, I'm just a student, right? I don't run a fucking company or something like that. I don't need / can't afford a symmetrical gigabit connection. But I do a lot of stuff that requires a decent upstream connection.
Fucking Unitymedia (my ISP), if I already decide to buy the goddamn "business plan" (IPv6 & static adresses), at least supply me with some decent upstream speeds. PLEASE!
My current plan costs ~45€ a month for internet and TV (I don't watch, but my two other flat-mates do).
Internet speeds are 150 Mbit/s down and FUCKING 10 Mbit/s up! What??! What the hell am I supposed to do with only 10 Mbit/s?? I'm already completely exhausting the bandwidth and I'm not even done setting everything up! Fucking hell...
I was planning on getting their "upload package" to get at least 20 Mbit/s up – but they removed that option! IT'S GONE, PEOPLE! They said in an interview last year that "customers are not interested in higher upload speeds" and consequently removed that option. WHAT???
"You wanna have state-of-the-art downstream speeds of 400 Mbit/s? Here you go. Oh, our maximum limit of 10 Mbit/s upstream is not enough for you? TOO FUCKING BAD, NOTHING THAT WE CAN OFFER YOU!"
(Seriously though, the best customer internet plan is 400D & 10U)
Goddamn... in this day and age of things like cloud storage etc. even "normal" people definitely need higher upload speeds.
Man, this rant got so long, but I really wanted to get this out. This wasn't even everything though, maybe I'll make a separate rant to elaborate on other issues.
If you are interested, you might want to read up on the following report:

Got fed up with having to use the mouse/trackpad while editing code or using the terminal, so I decided to (finally) learn proper vim keybindings and tmux.
Boooooy oh boy, this certainly changes things.
I think I'm in love with tmux. Damn that piece of software is so sexy. Disabled the mouse, propped up my dotfiles and installed tmux + my conf on all machines I use. It's so useful, so fast and so pretty...
Spent some time with vimtutor too. Finally getting faster with the keybindings. Installed neovim, got some plug-ins (nerdtree, fzf etc), disabled the mouse and arrow keys, and made it pretty. It's actually pretty nice, but I'm not at the "buff gorilla who took speed and pressed 24 keys in a microsecond" typing level yet. One day though.
Also I'm using the Nord color scheme on everything. Overall pretty satisfied with the end result. Still not as productive as I was with VS Code, but I think I'll eventually surpass my previous productivity levels.
If anyone has any tips for vim/nvim or tmux, feel free to share!10 -

Not sure if thats just me, but I absolutely can not stand watching people work on a computer slowly. Like: Watching people copy a text into a different window be like:
Select text with the mouse...
Move mouse down for 20 seconds until everything is selected ..
Right click
Copy
Click on Taskbar to open different program.
Right click in program
Click paste....
I .... just ... can't man.
Its: Ctrl+a, ctrl+c, alt+tab, ctrl+v
(And that is just one example, there are worse ones)
Maybe that just me, but I am so used to using my computer fast, and I optimized the shit out of my workflow.10 -

So we do not have an amazing internet speed. Can you imagine the dread we feel in the office when a new xcode version needs to be used to have apps be accepted by apple again. For those uninitiated: update all ios devices. Update unity to work eith newest xcode. Update to newest xcode, update mac to newest osx to actually be able to update xcode. It takes FOREVER. If this meets you at 8am, you are not building today. You are done.4

This always gets me:
Developers complaining that their 4 year old / cheap ass computer is slow.
Get. A. New. One.
It's not that hard.
Here, let me do one for you:
https://computeruniverse.net/en/...
I just went to a site that delivers across Europe, and selected a cheap laptop with a decent CPU and SSD. Short on RAM, sure, and without a Windows License. But you can buy RAM for an additional 50$, and that brings you to a total of 550€, delivery included. And it will WORK. And it will be fast.
It's too expensive?
No, not exactly. Wherever you are in the world, if you can code decently, good enough to have the right to complain about development tools, you are eligible to at least 10$ per hour income as a freelancer across the globe. I've had such opportunities offered to me by many organizations, especially non-profit ones that need cheap employees. I actually was offered more but let's stick to 10$ per hour.
So that's 1600$ per month. Enough to buy 3 such laptops. Oh, taxes, I forgot. So you get 2 laptops. Wait! You need food and everything else. Well if you're in a country where that offer actually makes sense, then it's likely that you can live off of 400$ per month quite well. Maybe 800$ if you need to pay rent.
So that's roughly 1 month of work for a laptop that will make you not waste time on waiting for stuff.
Sweet! 1 Month! What does it get me?
Well assuming that you have no laptop, it gets you A JOB that pays you 1600$ per month.
But if you DO have a laptop, you can sell it for cheap, and benefit from the following:
1. Boot-up time from 30-60 seconds to 10 seconds.
2. Installing software - from 1 minute to 10 seconds.
3. Opening a browser - from 10 seconds to 1 second.
4. Opening an advanced text editor (Atom, VS.Code) - from 10 seconds to 1 second.
5. Searching for a file on your entire hard drive - from 1 hour to 2 minutes.
....
You get the point. Waiting is reduced by several times.
So how much do you really wait when coding?
Well are you compiling? Are you opening a new project and the IDE needs to re-index the files? Are you opening programs like a terminal emulator, browser and such? Are you using virtual machines for dev environments?
Well all of these processes become several times faster. Depending on how often you do it, you'll be saving yourself from 1 hour per day to upto 4 hours per day (my case, where a HDD would be just out of the question).
How much is that time worth? At least 10$ per day. If you're working for 20 days per month, 240 days per year, that's a total of 2400$. And for the life time of that crappy laptop of 2 years, that's 4800$ saved. And that's with hugely conservative numbers. Nobody pays 10$ per hour any more, except if you've just started in the industry. I know because I've been there.
Please, for all that's sacred to you, justify right here, right now, HOW THE FUCK can you not afford to get that 8GB of RAM, that cheap ass SSD for 100$, or even a brand new laptop (hey! it's even portable and has FHD graphics on it!) for 550$.
That's why every time I hear someone who is a professional developer complain that they don't have money for a decent machine, I have to ask: why the fuck are you wasting yours and everyone else's time?!10 -
Sometimes I wish I wasn't in IT.
All I've wanted to do for the last hour is work, but my vpn connection was unbearably slow. So as anyone in IT does, check the settings, try connecting a different way. None of that works.
So I decide to disconnect, wait a few seconds, then connect my usual way.
Well what do you know, I connect and get my usual VPN speed. I literally changed nothing.1 -
I ain't that picky, but the image I am including here makes me feel uncomfortable.
Is it horrible? Nah, shit like this happens all the time. I just feel weird about it due to my manager's constant pixel perfect implementation requirements.
I have been having a crazy week. And I am thankful that at one point during my period of Javadiction(the great Javadiction of 2015 as I called it because I did nothing but Java) I landed on the Velocity template lang.
I quite like templating engines. Always made me think that if I wanted to start with lang design I might start there. Anyways, Velocity is pretty cool and I quite like using it at work.
It makes everyone think that I am the Alpha coder since around these parts it ain't known at all. -

Started learning Rust yesterday. As a web developer I like the static typing and the speed. I want to know a low-level language to complement Python but kind of dislike C and C++ and that's why I chose Rust. At the moment the syntax still feels kind of foreign but I probably need to just man up and embrace it. :)9 -
Create a bug-free compiler for a Lang like c# but a little less overcomplicated and a lot faster. I don't believe a strictly typed and garbage collected language needs to be much less than half as fast as c++.2

Fuck my internet connection. I really dont get it, sometimes it works fine and I can download small files while using skype without any problem and the other day, without any apparent reason, I always get kicked out of online games, Websites take ages to load and teamspeak audio cuts out. What the fuck, I even closed everything that might take up the smallest amout of bandwidth. It fucking ruins my night to the point where I want to run through my computer setup with an axe.12

Moving a partition on my ssd to the left. Therfore it copies 98GB. ~50GB of them are used.
Speed: 25 MB/s. Wtf?11 -
Coming back home to find out that my parents switched to optical fiber and can download with 50MB/s WiFi speeds makes me feel sad to go back to my 15MB/s campus speed. Even more when I go to Germany.1

Just changed some registry stuff, I'm connected with Wifi and LAN at the same time now. It's still shit but actually better than before :D
Add a DWORD-Value (32 Bit) into Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WcmSvc\GroupPolicy ... that's it5 -
I dislike Google page speed. I understand their intention but sometimes it's just stupid, like inclining critical CSS and loading in the rest of the CSS using JavaScript.
What happens if the user has JavaScript disabled? They get a half rendered site they can't use that looks broken, but hey, at least the crappy site loads quickly.5 -
Anyone have any idea why release downloads from GitHub is slow af?!
It is not a network issue on my end.
Any ideas?2 -
Those coding competitions like adventofcode.com tho, where people actually solve the tasks in a minute or two, whereas I just finished reading the little story behind them.

I watch videos online in 2x or more speed most of the time. It saves me time. Anyone? I use a browser extension to easily control the speed via rhe keyboard. I think it's called Video Speed Controller or something.1

I've just used https://gtmetrix.com to see how devRant fares. Pretty well actually, with one major gotcha that should be easy to fix. There are a lot of static resources without browser cache expiration date.
A little image optimisation could also be done, see the PageSpeed tab. And scaling down images in CSS could also be replaced by proper scaling of the image itself.
The YSlow tab shows that a little JS minification is missing, and maybe 4 external scripts could be combined into one.1 -
Had to use the pfsense's url in my Default Gateway which is 172.0.1.1 from our school.

Youtube-blocked
Facebook-blocked
#anime tags -blocked
#porn tags - blocked

After:
All uncensored Websites!
1Mbps download speed
Unfortunately the Network Admin found my IP and slowed down my download speed. I can search R-18 links but I don't want to be caught in his SquidProxy log. so I'm still lucky to browse my animu website.3 -
I downloaded Go to my Raspberry Pi with the wireless connection of my school and the download was running for 30 minutes (99mb file). (I had a download speed of 55 Kbit/s.) Then I saw I downloaded the wrong one which isn’t working with Raspbian. 😒

Fuck yea!
We'll cancel our 1&1 internet contract —
And move to QuiX.
Countryside internet is shit. And QuiX builds fiberglass (or so) on countryside while stupid ass telekom only dares to enrich cities with fast internet connection.
And no I'm being paid by QuiX to say this. I don't know, maybe they suck but since I am a gamer in need of fast internet, I'm excited at least..3 -
Somehow my fren and I were requested to come to the campus to monitor the servers for 3 hours, because nothing's happening, he decided to give ourselves a challenge:

Maybe it's because I'm drunk but the extra 8gb Ram I just added to my laptop really makes it faster. Everything seems a little bit faster and I can now power up 2-3 virtual machines and IDE etc. without problems 😍 -
After I was woken up in the morning by my friend that had a meeting nearby.
We went for coffee and as part of usual Wednesday I also decided to go to cinema to see Dr Dollitle ( not verry funny ).
I felt relaxed as everyone fucked off from me since Monday.
I was so happy of doing nothing after the movie I decided to try to make both frontend and backend for new application screens in finite time.
I could have waited for frontend developer to be back from his vacation but since I can also do it I decided to do it myself.
I did frontend part first with mock data and after finishing it before 2 pm asked if client will have time to discuss it. He didn’t so we decided I try to add real data and publish it on test environment.
Well those are mock up screens anyway so I decided to eat and smoke to chill but also try to work anyway.
I just finished backend for those screens and switched test environment to new branch.
Looks like they’re working for biggest client customers.
Usually it takes about a week or two to describe frontend developer what client wants but let’s see if I still have some frontend UX empathy left and can speed up development by couple of days. -
I am using Ubuntu for two years now, for me it is faster than windows. To have more speed what’s next!?7

Such a savage! :D

PS: I am new to PycURL and love the speed improvement so far!
Got 1.9s to load the header and body info of https://www.google.com with the requests module.
BUT with PycURL I can do the same shit within 0.4s (including printing all the info on screen which also takes a little bit of time)! Holy fucking shit, mate! That's such a great tool!1 -
Installed minimal Debian now have to reboot system and install the full system. My brain is running full speed right now!

Everytime I see someone from Netherland complaining about their internet speeds I get angrier at IPSs. Amsterdam is the fucking biggest node on the fucking planet, if you can not get at least 25/10 in there, your IPS should just fucking die.1

Usually my home internet download speed is around 800-900 KB/s
Then I purchased Academind and codewithmosh courses then tried to download the courses but the download speed became 63-90 KB/s wow nice 👺
Maybe because of the holiday. Hopefully the download speed will be ok tonight.

I fucking hate it when Java programmers hate on Python programmers! They believe Java is superb while Python is flawed. They talk about speed, speed, speed and speed!
Java programmers, why do you guys behave like assholes?27 -
Web Devs of Devrant, i have a question for you!
How to you efficiently test a website speed?
Sure i know about googles page insight, GTmatrix and all the other "free" testing tools.
But im more interested in a tool i can make run multiple times, and then get a avg (or at least some kind op spreadsheet) showing the time it taken to load - and the different parts.
Say i want a test to run 1 time every 5 min, 20 times - then get data for all those. Any tools that can make such data available to me?
Or should i look at some other tools?3 -
Since I got my 100mbit/s down and 25 up connection I noticed that some servers aren't even sending over a 30mbit/s. Is it me or have some of you the same issue?4

Ted talks. One moment it is 12:00 the next it is 10pm.
Thanks alot Vivaldi for putting Ted talks in the speed dial.

I wish the clients without knowledge would fuck off about google page speed insights, as if it actually measures speed and as if I give a fuck about your new raison d'être.

Nothing shuts up a client quite as fast as completing and pushing (to QA, product isn't complete yet) a feature request within 30 min of getting the email for it.

Meanwhile in a parallel universe composer update runs faster than the speed at which universe expands.

That moment where the client and the project are ticking all the boxes: he's competent and you know working with him will be pleasant enough, the project is interesting and you've already picked node.js, it's well paid and you've already mentally spent the money.
Oh wait no! I wanted to talk about the moment right after, the one where you're told that this dll you NEED to use is in VB6!2 -
Learning how to leaning. It is not emphasized enough in work place. Reading, speeding, read code, speed reading code. Comprehension of code, grit, growing mind set.

i am taking some pills for hemorrhoids and yesterday i was combined them with my third coffee. Somehow i was full of energy and i started coding like f crazy. I was literally writing code withe the speed and tension you see in movies, or if you like it, like our non tech bosses are thinking we work 8 hours a day for granted. I did not know what was happening, i was typing correctly, fast, and i want to live it again. Dope, adrenaline, aggression!
The code must fear us, not we the code!2 -
I can't use this keyboard to program:
Got a transparent touch LED keyboard because I thought it was cool, turns out the lazy chinese programmers have used a really long debounce time of ~100ms in its firmware to prevent duplicate keystroke detection.
Which means, I can't type as fast as I want on this thing! 😭 -

Some very friendly neighbor bought new wifi probably yesterday and it literally fucked up my wifi speed. I easily got like 30Mbits in the toilet, now it is only 2-5 megs dropping to 300kbits sometimes... Very fucked up. All channels are full and what is worse, if some channel is good on one side of the apartment, it is flooded on the other...
The only solution seems to be 5GHz, but it sucks, because its range is soooo small between these concrete walls, I would need at least 2 extenders lol.8 -
Sonic the Hedgehog is kind of developer, which smashes bugs and goes through stages with speed of sound... But at the end, Eggman is faster than him.

Gone are the days where i was pissed of at the shitty and expensive internet service.
Today I'm subscribed to a mobile data that is actually unlimited and throttle free with speed ~ 8 Mbps ( pretty good compared to other options) for mere $18 for 30 days. On top of that, i get 1 GB 4G data everyday from second operator.
It is all getting wasted because i don't get time to watch or play things i download.
Nowadays i find myself downloading just because i can...1 -
Most people who talk about language performance are just repeating what they heard from others.
For 98% of use cases, Python or Ruby, for example, are more than fine for running production systems at scale.
Also, a language does not necessarily guarantee speed/performance if you write shit code.
I've seen a properly written Python application perform better than a Java application.
I'd love to stop having this debate with folks every time.13 -
I’m going to get my first own apartment in April
So at the moment I’m searching for an adequate ISP cause at home it’s horrible
My budget for that is pretty good so I want to get the best I can get
But every provider I look at has a maximum of 100mbps
In comparison to my current speed this would be awesome but there is actually one provider that offers me 400mps for a pretty good price
Am I wrong or are they all using the same cables? Are all the others dumb or is the one actually kidding me? 🤔4 -

Has anyone noticed that lately Safari renders websites faster?
I have been testing the cache on one of our sites. Been testing with Safari, Chrome, Firefox(Clean no addons) and FirefoxDeveloperEdition. The response time from the server is pretty much identical on all the browsers. But Safari is definitely quicker at rendering it out.
Anyone got a clue why? The only thing i suspect is that safari doesnt have dev tools enabled, so that might be the culprit? -
