That time I joined the robotics club and made the pid loop for the robot was one of my favorite projects. I learned ROS, and I created the entire chain of software and hardware to control six motors. That one project set up my experience for the next 4 years and led to a few jobs. I miss robotics.

My dream was shattered!!
I joined a new company. I graduated last 2 months before and joined as data analyst.
So I was dreaming to work on some awesome research projects and all, but it was just another dream...people here don't work on any sort of data analytics instead the data science team uses regex and all to extract things and say they are building models.

Many co-workers are good and help me, but the boss. He left all the annoying works to me and the release is in next month...

Then after some days he gave me more task, when he found that one task was super easy(i mean it was just to extract things using bs4 and selenium, hardly will take an hour) to do then he took that himself and in the next meeting said he did that work and it was super difficult!!!

Joined a call during a potentially important life event. Work laptop password expired this morning, personal laptop didn't connect to vpn, desktop not connecting to vpn. No one knew what's wrong on the call (just that it's not working).

I'm partially color deficient, which means I can differentiate most colors, except when there is a low contrast between them.
The genius freshers in my company (well, they joined at the same time as I did, but I still call them freshers because they never goddamn improved since they joined). Anyway, these freshers thought it'd be a great idea to take design decisions upon themselves and chose the shittiest colors ever for designing a complicated interface with the most horrifying color palette you'd have ever seen.
Everytime I'm asked to debug this page, I have nightmares as they explain things to me in terms of colors :/4 -

How did you find devRant? I was on YouTube watching a video then a Wix ad came up. After listening to the first sentence "Learn how to design your own website..." I stopped the video because of how bullshit it was. I went to Google and type in: "Wix is shit" and found a small rant here with the literal string. I decided to make an account and comment on it. But my comment was too long so I shaved a few words off. And went to the feed when I was done and liked the content.14

Startup rant ---
John and Bob joined a startup at the same day but they were in two different offices.
John joined the US office while Bob joined the European office (let's not share the country here ;) )
Both of them worked really hard, they worked longer hours, showed result and helped the startup to reach and get Serie A funds.
That seems good no? But let's step back, John was promoted twice and get more perks while Bob got only a salary raise that aligned him with the current market.
There are different reasons for this but the most important one is that the company is having two different cultures for the two offices.
What's funny here is that Bob effort is well known across the two offices and his contribution has made a huge difference to the company but unfortunately he wasn't rewarded for it.
So Bob opened a new window not in his office but in his browser to find better opportunities.4 -
I have started my first job as a web developer since February 1st. During the one month training period which is in progress, one of the training sessions was on Git and believe me Git is the most fascinating thing came to know me since I have joined computer science field. In love with it.2

The company I'm working at is treating interns like full timers while not actually paying them that much. I've been working as a full timer, doing similar tasks, working alone and without mentorship since I joined. This feel so wrong!10

I had joined a new company and got access to their codebase. They were updating password on MD5 hash of user name and their email in get request. No password validation, no token based authentication, nothing.
Eg
...com/change_password/email=(plainemail)&name= MD5(name)

My web background us in PHP, with some minor experience in ASP.NET, so I wasn't expecting to have much trouble when I joined this company to work as a web programmer.

So i joined this new company where i was hired as an intern, pretty cool stuff as i am still in college and getting paid.
I was selected to be in iOS development
Although i didn't have any previous experience, i was surviving,
To the main point ->
My team had 3 devs, 2 senior and one that has joined just 6 months back,
So after joining now, 2 senior devs have left, leaving just the 2 of us - 1 intern,1dev
The pressure is real!

I just joined my company as a fresher in graduate developer, we will be going around in different teams over the course of next 6-7 months. My question is even though i joined as a " software developer" as of yet i am in a performance testing team, is it a good start or should i move to other team like development, QA testing etc ?1

Started with flow chart programming in a robotics club after class in middle school.
Joined another club where I spent the first 3-4 weeks learning Python and JS basics on freecodecamp.
Programming classes on algorithms and frameworks in high school and college.
Beyond that, mostly reading documentation, stackoverflow and some udemy courses. -

I had a meeting 5days after accepting work from a client (the project was basically a mirror version of your typical job board with extra features).
The client and our project manager joined forces in labeling my progress/project/work "untouched" because it was simply still undeployable.. fml -

Started a new freelance contract.

We had to code at the hospital. It was for our thesis and one of the members in our group had to be admitted so we "joined" in and hoped for the best. It was definitely weird but we had a great time.

I joined in 2011 when there were 3% architects/technologists. Even those were PMP certified.
Now we have 80% archs/techs/coders/devops/cyber, with aws/azure/java/db/cyber certs and no PMP.
Even now managers go off-site for a week to some exotic location and come back to present the architecture.1 -

The top reason was probably the people I surrounded myself with. I always loved computers and, as a result always joined cool tech-based clubs when I heard about them. The teachers there were also Devs and could do some awesome things with the code they wrote.

Made some basic static sites in early 2010’s, started getting bootcamp ads frequently.

My head feels like when I first joined the company as a total noob who never worked an IT job in his life. Soooooooo much new information and concepts and potential issues to learn to avoid.
