Me: I know so many languages, I don't need to learn c++ to follow along with this 3D OpenGl tutorial!
Narrator: Oh, but he did need to know c++ to follow along with the 3D OpenGl tutorial.4 -
Could the Web Developers here tell me which languages other than HTML, CSS and JavaScript should I learn if I want to be a full stack developer? I also know a bit of C#, if anyone is wondering.18

my dad message me 7 am, with spec on a raspberry he got and the question if python was similar to C (he programmed C, 20 years or so ago.)
my responde: "I will set up a git for you, and we can learn python together"
dad: "what is a git?"
p.s love my dad :D8 -
*sees new trendy language*
- language is as fast as c
- cross platform
- extensive libraries, tools and tutorials
- easy to learn
- conceptually well thought-out
*doesn't like syntax*
oh well...19 -
On my annoying radar today - devs who learn one language and then *insist* on using it for everything, even when it makes absolutely zero sense.
"Ooh I'd like to do some microcontroller development. But I only know Java. How do you run Java on a microcontroller?"
"...You don't."
"...but I heard a talk where someone did it. Look, there's this microjava page. How do I use it?"
"It's an interesting technical demo, but that's it. Dude, just learn C. It's not hard, Java has C style syntax anyway and this way you can...."
"...but I only want to use modern programming languages. C is irrelevant these days, it's pointless me learning it."
"It's definitely still relevant if you want to program a microcontroller."
"...but I want to do that in Java."
🤦♂️15 -
A guy breaks into your house and start slapping your face with a huge C programming book for 5 minutes until you bleed top quality code from your nose.
Well this is what I was going to comment to the "learn C in 5 minutes app" rant, but can't find it anymore.2 -
A senior developer come to interrupt me.
Senior developer: blah...blah....blah about this concept...... that concept... So, any new things you learn lately that you would like to share?
Me: I am learning back C++
Immediately he stop me and said, "Why did you learn C++? It is obsolete, no one use it anymore"
Me (in my head): But, you just said what I learn. It doesn't matter if its obsolete or not. Infact you are wrong, C++ is not obsolete anytime soon. I was about to share on webassembly.
Senior developer: So, would you like to join me in a short sharing session this afternoon.
Me: No thanks, I am really busy (just want to avoid at any cost)8 -
Me : *is bad at coding in C, java, Scala, swift and basically every other language*
Also me : time to learn a new language !4 -
Boss: Who knows C#?
Me: I've heard of the language...
Boss: Perfect.
Sends me (a JS dev) to a week long course to implement a gateway in c#.
So I say to myself, who cares, I will learn a new language.
Apparently the lady in charge of the course mixed up between c# and c++
Funny thing is, the other participants are complaining that they shouldn't be in this course cause they don't know the language...5 -
when your first try to learn a new programming language, for example c++ and you are still new to coding:
"Wtf does it behave this way. How dafuq do pointers work...argh"
and then years later, you come back to c++, do a little revision and it all starts to fall into place and make sense. Man. That feeling.3 -

Hi guys
I'm just starting to learn c++ (with no coding background) and being 22, i feel like it's too late.
Wish me luck.22 -
Today I met a random guy who contacted me through Facebook to teach him some C++.
He wanted to create a small anomalies detection system on x-ray images with OpenCV (for industry purposes).
The guy came from Nigeria, where he studied medicine, but here has to work on two completely unrelated minijobs to survive.
And he still finds energy to keep learning new crazy stuff like C++ (he definitely chose the hard path to learn some programming).
And that's it, there's no moral for this fable, just a short story. Learn whatever you want from it.2 -
C++ is like HTML in the sense that everyone wants to learn it as a first language.
DON'T LEARN C++ AS A FIRST LANGUAGE! YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOUR GETTING YOURSELF INTO.22 -
My new years dev resolutions are:
-Learn more c#
-Change jobs
-Read less reddit while on the clock
-Remember that the index on enums start at 03 -
I am learning c++ . Everyone says to me "why to learn outdated language" but i feel that knowledge is good and somewhere or the other it will be useful maybe during applying for the job41
-
My resolution for this year:
- learn PHP
- advance at JavaScript and figure out what's so cool about react.js
- be a pro with SQL and learn PostgreSQL
- build couple cool hardware projects with Raspberry Pi and Arduino based on C.5 -
I'm OK with C language, but I refuse to learn Shell. My co-workers who use shell don't talk to anyone and look like zombies. Hell no. I don't even know their names after working 2 months together. Fire me.10

Fix my depression
Learn C++ properly
Fix my life's future
Try to pick up a relationship which I've dropped out of stupidity again.6 -
Why do people jump from c to python quickly. And all are about machine learning. Free days back my cousin asked me for books to learn python.
Trust me you have to learn c before python. People struggle going from python to c. But no ml, scripting,
And most importantly software engineering wtf?
Software engineering is how to run projects and it is compulsory to learn python and no mention of got it any other vcs, wtf?
What the hell is that type of college. Trust me I am no way saying python is weak, but for learning purpose the depth of language and concepts like pass by reference, memory leaks, pointers.
And learning algorithms, data structures, is more important than machine learning, trust me if you cannot model the data, get proper training data, testing data then you will get screewed up outputs. And then again every one who hype these kinds of stuff also think that ml with 100% accuracy is greater than 90% and overfit the data, test the model on training data. And mostly the will learn in college will be by hearting few formulas, that's it.
Learn a language (concepts in language) like then you will most languages are easy.
Cool cs programmer are born today😖31 -
My new year's resolutions:
- Learn Python
- Start and finish at least one project
- Learn C
- Understand C++
- Start working on a game3 -
Teach an actual coding language like C# or C++ instead of Scratch and Java. If you’re going to learn a language, learn a good one.8
-
Learning Rust and I’m loving the process. I haven’t been this excited to learn a language since c++ years ago!3
-
Fuck... coming from a Python background learning low level stuff is hard as shit.. gonna need to learn C/C++ and some Assembly real soon!
Gotta say though, understanding that stuff makes everything have more sense all of a sudden hahah6 -
I wanna learn rust, go, Ruby, lolcode, brainfuck, the meaning of life, etc... And then every time I start a new side project I always do that in C xD I guess it's because you can not easily forget your first love :D7
-
!rant
The more I learn about advanced C++ the more I love this language. C++'s template system is so insanely cool!
Just made a proof of concept expression templates based linear algebra library for my own projects. It was actually a lot of fun to make, and seeing it spit out optimized, loop-fused code with no temporary variables...magic.
Long live C++.7 -
Started freelancing on PeoplePerHour and I'm already doing damned well after a fortnight. C# was the right language to learn.18
-
There was a computer programming teacher in my 1st semester who taught C. He used to have this conventional way of teaching C like other Engineering subjects which was going to more theories before writing actual codes.
These are the conversations with him.
(First day, a guy asks him some questions.)
Guy: Sir, why do we need to learn C? There are other languages used extensively for other tasks like python, etc. Why bother with this boring C?
Teacher: C is used to learn other languages. After learning C, you can easily learn other languages.
Guy: Sir, where is C's application? Where is it used?
Teacher: It is used in academics to lay foundation for students to learn other languages which are used to build softwares.
(Fucking Hilarious)
(A month after he was asking some questions to students.)
Teacher: What is an array? What is an array-name?
Student 1: Array, is this collection of data that can be stored in a single type.
Teacher: Then what is an array-name?
Student 1: I don't know.
Teacher: (angrily) Array-name is a definition itself.
(We were supposed to answer that. It was a standard definition.)15 -
Do some cool shit that I’ve always wanted to do.
- learn more about machine learning and computer vision
- learn C / C++ / rust
- learn embedded systems / programming
- learn more EE centered stuff3 -
I have a bit strange personal rule - If I encounter something more than three times during 3hrs period, I certainly must learn as much as possible about it. Last night I've stumbled upon few listings in Go language.
So, starting this morning, decided to learn Go. So far, so good.
P.S. Is it just me or Go really does have strong C/C++ vibe (but is, indeed, higher level language)? Old guy like me, must like that.12 -
After making great progress in Swift, I was advised to go back and learn Objective-C. 2hrs in I'm like...1
-
-I'm gonna learn C for real
-I'm gonna configure Vim
-I'm gonna try November
-Emacs with Evil mode is a better Vim
-I'm gonna learn eLisp
-I'm gonna learn functional programming
-Gonna use clojure for everything now!
-init.el is 400 lines long
int main() {printf("Hello World!");}
Success! 🤦♂️1 -
I feel we can do nearly everything when we learn C# and JS.
How do ya think?
I am not saying that Brainfuck is not useful. I love that language btw.15 -
Wait... Do people really think C is an accurate way to learn how a computer works... Please tell me it isn't so6
-
Time to learn as mush as i can, Just Made Hello world Programs in 9 languages.
C#
C++
HTML

Should I try to learn functional programming or focus on a lower level language?
My strongest language is C#.
I'm looking at F# or Rust atm.
Thoughts?19 -
Informative article on why Golang is relevant is today's computing ecosystem. I too find many server side programming being done in Golang nowadays. I liked its c like features and simplicity over complexity.

I'm just starting on the dev world. I only taken Java and C++.(Both professors knew their coding however, sucked balls at teaching it). now i am here looking at this post scared as shit for my future.. damn what did i get myself into?9
-
So which are you new year's resolutions?
Mine are:
Learn C,C++ and Node
Organize my time to do more with it
And code5 -
Talking to a second year student about what they've learnt so far, and what they should learn next:
"Cool, so what general topics would you say you know really thoroughly at the moment?"
"Oh, I've now learnt Java, C#, C, C++, Rust, Javascript, node.js, HTML, CSS, Angular, Vue, Erlang and probably a bunch of other stuff I've forgotten. What do you think I should concentrate on next?"
"Hmm. Probably best to take just one of those and learn it really thoroughly."
"...but I already know them all really thoroughly."
"Ok. Can you explain what an abstract class is in say Java, C# or C++?"
"Sure, I can create a new class called abstract and then use it for abstraction. I do that loads."
...🤷♂️🤦♂️
First lesson: Stop BS'ing. Might work for flexing to non-devs, but that's about it.10 -
I didn’t really choose, I just happened to learn C# as one of the 3 first languages I learnt back then. It landed me multiple jobs and that’s about it really 🤷♂️
-
OK, end of massive fucking 1 year long Dunning-Kruger wave. Time to learn C and algorithms. Looks like I'm Learning the curriculum in reverse order but nothing too bad.3
-
- Continue working through my CS degree
- Finish my current game I'm working on
- get an Internship
- Learn OpenGL or Vulkan
- Learn C (I already know C++ and C#)
I got some work ahead of me, but this seems doable! I'm excited for the next 100 weeks! -
Today I started setting up an environment to learn C. It's my first dive into anything more complex than PHP. Wish me luck!
Also, any hints for a beginner in C?10 -
My 2018 goals:
1. Graduate from the Deep Learning Nanodegree.
2. Get better at Python.
3. Learn C++.
4. Learn more about Machine Learning and AI.6 -
Decided it was time to grit my teeth and actually bunker down and learn a bit of C++...
Im 1 hour in and hinestly am not sure whether I hate Pyton or C++ more at this stage .-.20 -

So, I've been wanting to learn C++ for a couple months now - decided to get a good book yesterday (Professional C++ 3rd Edition) on the language to help guide me through the more advanced concepts.
Fast forward today and I'm having a blast! Still uncomfortable with the syntax but I'll get used to that over time.
So fun 😊 -
Started learning Python from Java, C#, Objective-C, Swift.
It’s like Rocket Engineer who have to build a car. It’s easy but you have to learn almost everything from the beginning.6 -
I've been using C, C++ and Python for 10+ years and suddenly I moved to a new job where I had to learn and use JavaScript.
I think that it is different, as many say, but it is full of lacks and it's like a pile of hacks to make things work. It's a scripting language used as a programming language. What do you think about it?14 -
Decided to learn C++ to write a server daemon for Linux. That's going to be a nightmare. I haven't managed to do anything in 4 hours. How do I use external libraries?! 😭😭4
-
A few days ago I decided to learn C by writing a simple Minecraft clone. Guess who has less than 26¼ hours to do university exercises for two weeks. And It's not like I had double that time because of Christmas Holidays.
-
Happy New Year!
This year I am going to learn new programming languages and they are: Python, Java/JavaScript, C/C#/C++ and the Linux Terminal.
I can't wait!11 -
If you saw my last rant, you'll know how much I hate Calculus. I decided instead of trying to learn this foreign topic, I'd instead translate it into a language I DO understand: C. The irony is that we use Calculus so we can learn to code easier, but I'm using code to learn Calculus easier. Funny if you ask me.1
-
Sooooo I learn c. Programmed antivirus project last night, and there is 13, 374 bytes of memory leak. (BTW the program crashes at return 0). *Rage and despair*4
-
- Played with and learned Scratch
- Learned some Python, made some weird little programs
- Learned C, using two good books: K&R C and Zed Shaw's "Learn C the Hard Way" (back when it was still in development and was free to read on the internet)
- Made LOTS of programs in C
- Came back to Python when I wanted to learn network programming
- Learned some Racket/Lisp, Bash scripting along the way
- Now I use all of the above, minus Scratch -
-See vaguely interesting feature in language (currently C#)
-Look at the docs and psuedocode to get a feel for what the feature is intended for
-Design small project around the feature
-Learn the feature by using it1 -
I am graduating in a few days for my MBO 4(pretty sure that's like community college/college in other countries) in The Netherlands and i'll be going to start working on getting my bachelor.
To prepare, i have devised a learning plan for in the summer.
Should I learn:
(C)++ and Python
(C)++ and NodeJS
(C)++ and C#
or
(C)++ and assembly
C and C++ are languages I want to learn in any case, but as for the others I am undecided.
Thanks21 -
In the time I was attempting to learn C++ I was attempting to program an application that encrypted a file. Sounds cool but at the time I had no idea on how encryption worked and it didn’t go well. And didn’t work1
-
I'm curious, what was the most ridiculously otherworldly, the least understandable, eye-opening code you have every seen?
BUT, I mean that in a good way. And what did you learn from it?
For me personally, I would probably say some of the c++ stdlib implementations. Just totally not English in some places. I mean seriously, sometimes asm is more readable than c++15 -
I'm currently trying to get better at python and to learn django. And here I am, following a c++ course I found on safari books.
Really, sometimes I don't know why I do certain things...2 -
2020 goals:
* Complete my gender transition
* Learn C#, ASP.NET Stack and become a productive Microsoft Stack Developer
* Find a new, higher paying job

They say to learn a language you need to watch movies or cartoons in it, recommend something in C++ pleaseee?9
-
I will learn java, c#, python and swift in udemy in 6months... purchase the courses, started , only did hello world for each course, never came back3
-
I hate programming tutorials for a complicated language like c++ that are dedicated to absolute beginners of programming. If you've never coded before, why are you trying to learn c++?5
-
Question:
I am planning to learn machine learning and deep learning. I am quite comfortable programming in c++ and python, what would you recommend would be a nice starting point with more attention towards practical stuff.8 -
That moment when PM writes "click on learn more" on the whiteboard, but the 'c' and 'l' are too close together and it seems like one letter 😂
-
At first, my family was like "Don't waste your time on the computer, in college, you will learn how to code". I didn't listen, I started learning C#, but somehow I ended up learning C++ lol. Then I started with C, assembly, and SystemVerilog.
After they saw how good I was at it. They started supporting me. I don't blame them for not supporting me at first, they were ignorant about the topic, so they were blindly making assumptions. -
I want to learn C++. I know C#, Java and Ruby. Should I go Directly, or there is some sort of path?
How long it takes to master it? I am a quick learner, I catch things a lot faster.
What impact it has on my skills?
Is it really a nightmare to learn?8 -
question:I just learnt c++ programming language and i really cant find a use of this language except iot and really simple programs, how can i make gui programs, or should i learn more languages??10
-
I want to Learn c# i am not beginner I am more like intermediate do anyone have a good training that I can do?7
-
"The only way to learn a new programming language is by writing programs in it." - Dennis Ritchie
So, how are you learning - By writing programs or by Ctrl + C, Ctrl + V? 😛3 -
My original project has morphed and twisted to become this monster where I’ll need to learn PHP, databases, and somehow get a desktop C# app to read the remote database and execute tasks based upon times in the database. God help me.4

At college you learn like dozen of languages but end up getting job in Java/C#
Welcome to India 🤗🤗1 -
My cousin came to me and asked me if I don't have some resources about programming becase he will need it in school in higher grade. Then he said me he will be learning about C programming I told him that I have only C++ books and tutorials and if he don't want to learn C++ instead of C and he asked me if there is some difference between that... That will be a long journey I tought1
-
what do you recommend for me to learn about next?
I have learnt about:
- web frontend/backend (php)
- android and java
- c, c++, nasm, gnu assembler
- parallel computing
- cli operating systems
with that background, what would you recommend?
I'm considering:
- neural networks
- making a server
- ethical hacking
- starting a blog7 -
First time posting. But I need an advice, I want to learn a programming language to get a better job. I have just the basics of C#, should I keep going with C# or go with F#? I heard a lot of good thing about F#. Thanks. You guys are awesome!6
-
I was 17 and the class was tasked with programming a calculator in machine code! I was hooked went on to learn Java first, then C and C++. Now finished Uni having studied AI and Robotics and in my first job! I call myself a developer but I know there is still so much to learn in our ever changing industry!
-
Java Vs. C++
Ok, so I know a bit of Java, still lots to learn but isn't there always! My question to all you poly-linguist programmers is; once you know the basics of OOP are there any obvious hurdles in learning new languages? For instance - do you sometimes accidentally use some Java in C++? Would you all advise to stick to one language and learn it to genius level or does it make you a better programmer to understand a multitude of languages?
<Learning Rant>9 -
what's my next language to learn? So far I only know powershell. I don't need it for any big project, just some small games to learn the language. I'm thinking of python or c#.11

I always wanted to learn more about C and learn the dark concepts in it. But whenever i search for it ( like.. " Advanced C concepts " ) or find a book , i end up finding dynamic memory allocation and using single dimensional pointers.. Maybe i am searching it all wrong .14

Me: After i learn objective-c i'll be a ninja!
Next day....
Friend: ....you will also need a graph database for your app. Cypher is easy to learn...
Me: ...ohhh cypher you say1 -
So frustrating to learn Swift when I already know objective-c. It's like I know what I'm doing, but really, I don't

The moment of truth on wanting to be a programmer or not... Is when you learn about pointers in c language.2
-
So I'm soley a Java developer, and I got the task of making a server so I was like what a great time to learn C++ or something. With no prior knowledge of what c++ looks like I make a new project and open the damn template to be confused asf on where to start. I lookup some hello world tutorials and now I'm even more confused. Thanks C++13
-
Hello guys. Im new to programming I know some basic c and c++ . I was hoping if someone could help me with some sites to learn new programming languages. Thank you.7
-
Do any of you know of a good lightweight cross platform GUI system that doesn't use C++, .NET or Node.js? I'm kinda tired of those three.
Bonus points if it's easy to learn.
Should be stand alone on the desktop.25 -
Does anyone know good resources to learn Arduino Programming?
I have a basic understanding of C, I am looking for a series (of articles preferably) that walks you through the available libraries and the electrical engineering side of things.5 -
C# or c++. Hi im starting to learn programming and i have to decide between c# or c++. I use linux as my os. What do you think?17
-
took me years to learn js, php, c# and I ended up now learning and debugging STL... This twisted logic is soo painfull3
-
So I’m starting to learn C# is it a bad idea to use .NET Core to learn the basics of the language? And for the advanced stuff use visual studio when it’s needed? I’m just trying to avoid Visual studio tbh20
-
Someone just told me he writes c++ code and wrap it with swig so that he doesn't need to learn Python. Why man, just why!?
-
Important thing I learned is not to listen to devs who suggest to learn a framework because its pointless
If i ask should i learn react or angular, some will say angular some react, and both have valid arguments why
When i branch to react and ask if i should learn nextjs or nuxtjs the same thing will happen
No matter if the arguments are valid or not people will prefer a framework they have been biased towards
All frameworks have cons and pros there is no such thing as "the one" perfect framework
No matter how framework is good people will always find a reason to take a shit on it
So from now i wont ask IF i should learn framework X, I'll ask for the order in which to learn it
For example i Know i want to learn A for whatever reason, should i first learn framework B or C?
I dont need your subjective opinion to tell me how B or C sucks and i should do D instead of A4 -
always wanted to learn to use Linux, but school and c# has kept me on Windows, but I finally have Ubuntu on Windows, what should I start learning? please don't say the basic commands, learnt those ones, like is there a project or something I can plug into, and struggle with, and eventually learn from? Thanks!4
-
If you ever try to learn C++, give C Primer Plus 6th edition book a try. This is one of the best books that are prepared to teach, not tell about C++.
I tried Bjarne's boooks, but damn they are hard to understand, with badly formatted non-monnospace font code examples and terrible technique to teach. -
So I've made this plan of what I'm gonna learn/practice/study programming wise. Some of it involves learning new languages and I'm always told i shouldnt be hopping between languages but I really want to learn fucking PHP and C# even fucking C to help my python and it's not like its overwhelming but I hate when I get told to not bounce between languages IVE BEEN USING PYTHON FOR A YEAR AND A HALF I THINK ITS TIME FOR ME TO POLISH MY JAVASCRIPT AND LEARN A FEW MORE LANGAUGES LIEK FUCK3

C++ and MySql++ for a login page, Yes or no ?
I'm relatively new and like C++ (and im to lazy to learn php 😅)11 -
Is it appropriate in terms of time, to learn c as your first language?
I mean, some of my classmates prefer to use python or java as their first language.
Help please, I need help9 -
I just started to learn metaprogramming with C++, and it's awesome. But sometimes I make errors which make me feel like if I'm a baby :o (use 0 instead of 0_c...)

I still wonder which one is better to fully learn/understand. I know to code something in both, I know about the different way of how they handle memory and I know about some of their use-cases, but then again... this stupid question still pops out:
C or C++ and why?2 -
Trying to learn c and I forgot the name of the string comparison function, so I googled "c string"
O boi....4 -
Where do i start , if i am interested to contribute to Open Source projects in C ?
I have a good understanding of C language. Even if i am not able to contribute , it would be nice learn from those projects .
The problem with big projects like the linux kernel is that i dont understand or cant comprehend most of the code , except for few sections like gpios..5 -
Learning C/C++ started to become fun, mainly because I've managed to do seemingly cursed stuff lately.
For example, today, I learned you could totally call a class member function using a type-matching nullptr variable. The 'this' variable is so null that it will crash as soon as the program hits 'this', though, but the control flow does go into the function.
It's not *that* cursed once you learn the behind-the-scene stuff, but that kind of weird s#!+ is funny, even amusing for me, who've mained languages other than C/C++.15 -
I am new to this world and I am wanting to learn c++ can anyone recommend me a site like code academy? Thanks.8
-
Is c a good language to learn. Or c++ or C#. What projects can you do with the languages i mentioned.9
-
// First rant
So I've spent the last three days trying to send requests to a website in C# (never had done that, so I had to learn from scratch) and using XPath to select certain nodes from the html.
Today, I port it to a new UWP project and turns out it doesn't support XPath. I guess I should learn LINQ now...fml1 -
And of course, YouTube has also reinforced.
These are my personal experiences. Which method (books, websites, apps) do you think is the best?4 -
I was bored so I learned HTML/CSS, I was like "eh, programming is easy!".
So I learned C next and I was like "eh, programming is kinda hard actually".
So I learned to program rather than learn a language, got back to C until I was comfortable with it.
Nothing is hard now :D2 -
If I don't know Java and no plan to learning it how should i learn kotlin?
No experience with c or c++ either. No programming experience at all. Because HTML and CSS aren't programming so yeh. plan to learn JavaScript next month after my fucking exam.6 -
When did you guys start to learn a new language?
Right now I only know C++ and I'd like to learn a new language but I never have the time8 -
Not finding a proper source to learn is a pain... especially if you want it free, any suggestions to learn more?14

Trying to learn something new.
Find a library in a foreign language. It's c++.
Unable to include lib.

Compiler gives me the finger

switching from C# / managed C++ to pure C++ in the new project feels like being relocated to an outpost in the wild west.
now i have to think about so many things the C# compiler would just have cared for, and all this hassle before i can actually address the problems that i want to solve. already ran into some weird memory overflows. i'm actually happy to learn something new, but it still feels really inefficient.3 -
I have started to learn Python and have ventured to the usual places to try and learn. Udemy, YouTube, Mimo app, and Programming Hub app.
I'm familiar with programming languages like c#, and JavaScript but have never become proficient in any of them. I'm hoping I can change that with Python.
Im looking for anything I can get. Advice, links, books, not sure what else there is. If it will help me learn and hopefully retain the info than I'm all for it.
Cheers15 -
My dream is to make video games. Knowing that I learn Java at school, which langage is the most appropriate for you? My teacher, who is a java fan, told me java, of course. On internet I found c or c++, and I even found a JS framework (phaser), but the doc wasn't great.
Do you have advices ?13 -
As I have a break between uni courses, and I’m bored of C# I thought I’d try learning C++.
I’m working my way through Bjorne Stroustrup’s book at the moment and also have the C++ Primer in my kindle library.
Can anyone recommend any other good sources to learn the language?9 -
At my first professional experience, just coming out of university and with no experience on Android. And the company put me doing a port of a VoIP lib of a Desktop application in C++, to be used as a mobile lib for Android app. At that time C++ wasn't supported by the Android ndk.
So my work was learning about android ndk, learn about jni, find out a solution for the non supported C++ in the ndk and learn about a proprietary lib for VoIP.
3 months later and with a lot of help I was able to put it to working (forget about performance). Still they told me my work wasn't good enough and I should have done a better job. For a noob developer that was hard to take. -
4 years in high school (turbo Pascal, Java, c++, didn't learn much more than basics), summer course with Macromedia director, a few college courses/internship with html/css/flash.
But most of all, just working and learning as I go.2 -
So guys. I need some help here. I'm watching a YouTube series called 'Coding Math', and the guy uses JS. I primarily use C#. So, I was wondering if anyone had some advice on what to do...keep using C#, or learn JS? I know JS gets a hard wrap for being so...vast... In its number of libraries, and I know C# has some annoying quirks, too.3

I just learned C and I have created some projects like Parking System and Library Management System. My problem is I don't know mathematics and I want to learn DataStructures & Algorithms and become pro in it. In the whole September I will still be focusing on C and create more projects. I have started learning Mathematics today from High School level to College level. I thik maths will take 1 year to complete. After September in the October I want to start learning C++ and finish C++ till the end of Dec 2019. I want to know that do I have to first finish my maths learning which will take 1 year then I should start learning Data Structures and Algorithms? As I said I want to become a professional in Algorithms. I think its not possible to learn DS&A yet I have to wait 1 year till I finish learning my Maths. I can't do more with C & C++ without knwoing DS&A? If I started learning DS&A with C++ in the future then I can't become good at algorithms? I want to do competitive programming and be at Top 1 of Hacker Rank and other sites like this.7

Trying to convince my boss to use Space Engineers as a teaching tool for our junior developers to learn better C# coding.

The biggest fuckin problem with learning C++ is that you have no idea where to go next after you finish learning the basics.
Should I learn regex next or stdlib? If I wanna learn the standard library, where do I fuckin start?
IS THERE AN ACTUAL GOOD BOOK OUT THERE THAT DOESNT BECOME INDECIPHERABLE AT PAGE 203??3 -
I am a chinese dev with 5-6 years experience, working on c/cpp/golang for backend server and PHP for web.

What fo you think, is it still a good idea to learn fortran in order to learn programming concepts?
I don't know what else would be nice...
I only had experience with shell scripting, which is rather functional.
Other languages i considered were dlang, c#, go and rust.
I have no explict application, which bothers me a lot.3 -

How can we go to a new world?
No need death.
Just read a fantasy book
Or learn new programming language.
For example, if you're a php Dev, learn c#, Java or c++.
Believe me, it's a new world.2 -
I've been programming for quite a while. I know Java and C#, but I decided to pick up another language, C++, so enrolled in a class at my college. My professor is GOD AWFUL. 4 weeks in and WE DIDNT EVEN TOUCH THE #$@&% KEYBOARD. You'd think that we would at least learn inputs or outputs, right? Instead we've been busting ass learning how to format our homework. What a waste of time.
On that note, if there are any good C++ classes on Udemy, and if you've had a good experience I would love your advice since theres many choices to choose from. I'm gonna learn this one way or another, and it seems the latter looks more useful than that person I'm obligated to call "professor".7 -
!rant I've been meaning to learn Python for quite some time.
I've worked with Java, PHP, C, C#, JS, Ruby, even a bit of Lua. Any good books to recommend?3 -

And plz suggest me good technique to learn that language ...plz !!19 -
Hey Everyone! Just a question about C#
Does anyone know of a good learning resource for the absolute beginner of C#? It seems like the initial learning curve is absurdly steep, at least from the online training videos I've come across so far.
I'm asking about C# mostly because I have some pretty okay powershell experience and thought it would be cool to learn how to speed up my scripts dropping down to C# or .NET for performance.
Additionally, I wanted to learn a language I could use for actual app development, even though I'm a total noobstick. 😅10 -
When C devoper creates a memory leak standard practice valgrind time.
When a webdeveloper creates a memory leak is the day they start to learn javascript. -
Should I learn C# or Java?
There are many topics over the internet but a direct opinion from you guys would be appreciated.
I would also know, what does C# have in common with asp.NET and web application development? It isn't clear to me
Thanks18 -
Hi there everyone am Shreyas a CS student. Am a C# guy and learn the parts of language every day (recently learning Asp.net) and having a lot of intrest, knowledge and passion in buildling stuff in it with WPF, Xamarin. And also i do practice a lot in it everyday.
But recently I am getting a lot more intrest in UI/UX designing. Am finding myself watching more UI/UX designing (mostly in Adobe Xd and illustrator) videos on YT (dansky YouTube channel specifically) rather than C# which I used to watch in early days.
So what is your suggestion on it? Should I learn the UI/UX designing basics. Will it help me in future, if I become a developer on building applications for mobile and desktop in C#?
Am pretty confused with it? Should I learn it or not?2 -
In India you learn c and c++ languages as beginners at first year of your college in diploma or engineering and you learn python at end of your engineering like 4th year for engineering and for diploma it's 3+3 means at 6th year. Here if you really want to be something you must self-learn.1

(heading)How a programming language is created? Because I want to make my own.(heading)
I am learning C and next I will learn C++, SQL,DS&A, Assembley, Lex&Yacc,Operating Systems, Computer Arcticture, Computer Networks because I think it's enough for my goal. The only reason I am learning this, to make my own C++ clone with my own knowledge. But I really don't know how can I create my own programming language like C++ from scratch. Like what are the first steps to began with. As I know that C, first step is Preprocessor then Compiler then Assembler then (Loader/Linker).
Anyone please give me a step by step guide like learn this language first then this then this. So I can finally reach that amount of knowledge which I can implement to create my own programming language like C++.6 -
Finally enrolled in a c# programming course!
I've got somewhat of a knowledge in html and css and was wondering for a long time if I should go Javascript or Php, but got an advice that c# will give me a broader understanding of programming.
Can't wait to learn! :) -

Okay so I want other opinions. So I've been studying for C++ competition and I don't know how to keep learning the language.. for python I just kept finding projects to do or picked a module to learn. My first programming language was PHP and lately I've started looking for a new language to learn. Decided to learn C# after learning C, its a goddamn nightmare I get that C# like C++ wants to abstract and provide supposedly more easier/shorter ways to write Code but honestly I abhor both languages.

What's the easiest functional programming language for someone with experience with imperative languages?
I would like to learn a functional language to broaden my horizons. I have knowledge of Python and C / C ++ and I want the language to be easy to learn from someone who comes from the imperative realm of languages. I don't care if the language is strong enough. I just need a language to learn the basics of a functional programming language, and then I'll try to find a more complex (and powerful) one.
thank11 -
