Today my classmate came up to me and said he was a hacker.
I told him to prove it, and guess what? HE ACTUALLY HACKED GOOGLE!
It was amazing! He impressed so many kids in the class with his skills of pressing F12! How impressive is that?
He even wore a black hoodie and can spell his name in binary code. Not to mention, he changed google doc's page color to black and the font to green as he typed his essay.
I need to be careful... This 1337 h4x0r is really scary.

I don't understand why every non-technical person who comes to do work in my apartment messes up my fucking router.
The cleaning lady - multiple times knocked the antennas partially off. Like fucking clock work. I don't get it, why is the cleaning lady attracted to my router antennas and why does she need to be so hard on them? Whatever.
The most ridiculous episode was today. And it wasn't the cleaning lady. I had a few people here doing some work today and the woman in charge who was here informed me before that they might have to move the furniture "a little."
I come home, and like a bad omen, the plastic parts on BOTH my router antennas are missing. Completely gone. It's just the the wires. Now, the router still works fine in my tiny apartment, but it is a fancy Asus router (I learned the hard way not to buy cheap routers) and I'd like it to not have fucking wires as antennas.
I email the woman (paraphrased):
Me: hey, it seems the antennas got knocked off my router, do you have any idea where they might have went?
Her: Apologies if we didn't put everything back (no shit you didn't, that's why I've had to email you). If we knocked the antennas off the router (fucking "if"???? I literally just told you in my email that they were knocked off) , they are probably somewhere by the window on the floor (they weren't).
And I still haven't found them. Why the fuck do these people seemingly attack my router? I can't figure out what it is about it. You would think people would be more careful around electronics but naaah. Anyway, going to go keep looking for my router antennas.

Le monday morning after a commit on sunday evening...
PM: BLAAAH!!!! Your commit broke the site, nothing is working!!!!!!
Me: What? All of tests passed (coverage 95%), no issues were found.
PM: NOO!!!! Site is broken, we can't use it no more!!!
Me: Ok, what's the problem?
PM: I've tried to enter -10021 into this field on that page and it gived me an error.
Me: Ok? So, that single page is broken?
PM: No, whole site!!!! This is important
Me: Sure... Let me take a look
* PM tried to enter a negative value into an unsigned field that I've mutated yesterday after checking LIVE database if there was no records with negative value. Reason: we've hit an int limit and there was no chance that the value would be negative. Validation? Well, yes.... Except that page was added by him this morning without even checking everything else *
Me: Here, this is the issue, *gives explanation*
PM: Well.... You shouldn't do this. This is unacceptable. You must never leave int fields without negative values. Didn't they teach you in school that integers can be negative?!
Me: What? *consufed as hell*
PM: *More morale... blah blah blah....* Revert it back!
Me: Ok but if anything else breaks, copy of this slack conversation will be kept.
PM: Don't care! Fix it!
Me: * Reverts the fix, saves chat copy * - Done.
PM: Great.
* 5 wild minutes later *
PM: BLAAAH!!!! Site is down, service is not working, what have you done?
Me: Reverted the change needed for it to work. Todays schedule is full with other important tasks. * pastes a screenshot as a proof that he asked me to do this *
PM: FIX IT NOW! Apply your fix.
Me: You're the PM. - Done.
PM: Great, now I'll fix my code. You should be more careful next time.
Me: * YOU DENSE MATHA...KER * Sure.
How's your morning going? :)9 -
We were talking about harddrives at work when someone was wondering if filling them with helium would make them spin faster... Then imagination took over!
"But helium balloons float, right... So would helium filled hard drives float..? Probably not due to weight but imagine dropping a hard drive and seeing it float towards the ceiling.."
"John, the delivery guy has a box with new harddrives downstairs, could you go get them?
*shouts* John did you get them? Just don't open the box outside!! No, no, NOOO DON'T OPEN IT OUTSIDE! JOHN, THE HARDDRIVES, BE CAREFUL, DON'T OPEN THE BOX OUTSI.....
*harddrives floating by the window into the air*
NOO, JOHN, WHAT DID YOU DO?!
"*walks into the office, harddrives floating against the ceiling* goddammit John, not again"
"John, why are you putting one kilometer long cables on those harddrives?
*John let's them float into the air towards the clouds*
We offer cloud storage!"
(We have a usual office building ceiling)
"John, I need a 1tb harddrive, where are those?
Uhm... C12!
*takes a ladder and walks towards c12 to pluck one from the ceiling*"

Tonight, I had the pleasure of being challenged to make a virus for a VM over at the awesome "virus aquarium": computernewb.com
I present to you the Eevee fork/bomb.
Tonight, was the first night where I've ever sat down and programmed in VBS. I had a lot of fun doing it too. Right now I'm aiming at corrupting taskkill, tskill, and shutdown for good measure. These are a few of the things that my buddy has pulled on me that has made it difficult for me to continue moving forward.
The other part is to create seperate .exe files that would run my the necessary script. Each of these .exe files will be unique such that it's more difficult to shut all of them down at once.
Despite the fact that this thing will quite literally break your computer, it's fun being challenged to think outside of the box. Quite literally. I've always been careful about what things I touched on a PC, but tonight was fun because I was basically unchained and allowed to run rampant.
As a computer geek I think it's good to let out your inner demon and see what havoc one could wreak.

someone who thought me about computer when i was a child. someone who thought me machine code, and cobol. someone who thought me about the world. now he is, my dad, hospitalized again (12th times already this year) for cardiac arrest. and today, he is getting better and showing a lot of progress.
This situation thought me again about how life works and how hard can it be. my dad divorced with my mom since i am 3 months old and i've been living with my aunt since. and now he married again with a women with 2 child. i though he was gonna be happy. and apparently not. at the time of the cardiac arrest, his wife don't even want to bother and getting involved if her husband got anything emergency like this, every single thing is thrown at me (or my aunt), from calling the ambulance, paying the hospital and medical bills, accompany my dad, every minor perks, Everything and Always. Once, i reach the point and i'm very angry to her, but my dad always hold me back. and now i don't even want to bother, care, or whatever to his wife again. i just care for my father.
This will temper me more and more, for anyone who searching for your love of your life, please be careful. there is still alot of woman who doesnt have any heart.
Life is hard.

Job interview goes really well. Senior Dev 90-100k.
Ok, so for your "test" write up a proposal for a web based bulk email sending system with its own admin panel for building list, tracking emails, and with reporting.
I write up an estimate. Low ball the absolute fuck out of it because I'm trying to get a job. Know a few good libraries I can use to save some time. Figure I can just use sendmail, or PHPMailer, or NodeMailer for the emailing, and DataTables Editor for a simple admin CRUD with reporting. Write the thing up. Tell them they can have it in LAMP or Node.
Come in at 36 hours.
Then these fucking wanks told me they wanted me to actually do the project.
My exact response was:
"I bill $50 an hour, let me know"
They did not let me know.
Young devs, jobless devs, desperate devs. I've seen a fair amount of this. And for the right job I might go as high as maybe 4 - 6 hours of unpaid work for some "programming test". But please be careful. There are those who will try to exploit lack of experience or desperation for free work.15 -
Boss: Give me unrestricted access in the system.
Me: It's dangerous. You might break something.
Boss: I'll be careful.
Me: *gives access*
This happened 2 years ago. Now every week he deletes something he shouldn't and break a module for him or for the clients using our system.
Just woke up in a rant email saying that "oUr OnLiNe StOrE DoEs NoT wOrK". Well, that's because you have delete the Cart configuration for all the clients you dumbass. What the fuck were you thinking when you deleted that?16 -
Alright so here goes, I currently work at a promising startup. Absolutely love it; nice, hard-working colleagues but there's only a couple of us so we all have to wear a multitude of hats.
I don't mind being on support duty or helping out a customer with a technical question but one thing that really gets to me is lazy people.
We have some instructional videos (made in-house by yours truly) around certain functionality in our app which can't be simplified any further and they're condensed to about 50 seconds each.
I receive an email from a customer saying that he wants the instructions in screenshot form instead of watching the video because he 'detests' watching videos.
I must admit, I was a little hurt because he dismissed my videos so easily without even watching them. Just because he really doesn't like to watch videos? I was dumbfounded.
Me putting (most of) my rustled jimmies aside, I take about an hour to screenshot and document each step of the instructions and send them to the customer with a note: Be careful, if you scroll too fast it turns into a video.
I receive a response saying he doesn't like to watch videos because he is deaf but he did admit he had a chuckle.
Morale of the story lads, keep the sass in in your IDE's and out of your customer interactions.

Discussion between me and my N+1
(Note : I'm in the company for 3 months)
Me : As the tech leader, shouldn't you review my code ?
N+1 : I'm not the tech leader.
Me : Wait what ?
N+1 : I wrote the app from A to Z, hence I'm the architect.
Me : That's what I mean. Being the most knowledgable dev in the company makes you de facto tech leader.
N+1 : No, I'm not the tech leader. The CEO is.
Me : But he didn't even know the tech we are using !
N+1 : .... Anyway, I won't do code reviews. I don't like that.
(2 hours later)
N+1 : You made a mistake in the code. You broke a hidden functionality. You should be more careful, or ask me if you have doubts.

I quit and my last day is next week.
Apparently management has decided that I should spend my last day implementing a new feature for a customer where I have been the only developer, and release it to production (without first implementing it in test) the same day. A feature that potentially could cripple a whole workflow if done wrong.
Of course I advised not to release untested code to production on a friday, just before the only person that knows how it works leaves the company. But no, “the customer reaaaaaally wants it before summer, so just be careful not to write any bugs”.
I’m not saying that I’m intentionally gonna write bad code - but if I do, I’m not gonna pick up the phone when it calls.17 -
My boss is technically my coworker.
I screamed my lungs out after it became clear that he didn't give a shit about employees that bring him money. After snatching all funds from a finished project on time, failing to deliver on the promise about bonuses (it's what I used to motivate employees to deliver the project on time), refusing to buy a new chair to replace the one held together by scotch tape and careful balancing, I decided to quit with maximum damage.
I screamed so that everybody would hear it. That encouraged another guy to get in with quitting, and within 1 month most of the team had quit, leaving the boss with a risk of lawsuits for prepaid contacts not delivered.
Knowing that piece of shit, he probably recovered and is treating other people badly, but at least every single person from the team experienced the biggest jump in careers straight after that.1 -
I hired a new developer after careful screening and interviewing many candidates.
First thing he's asking first day on the job
- I have already booked august month for holiday, is that a problem?
- I need to come 2 hours before anyone else in the morning and leave 2 hours before, everyday because I have things to do at home.
- I've seen that espn.com sport news are blocked by the firewall, why is that?
- I've installed bitTorrent on my PC but it's very slow downloading movies
I hope he's good.20 -
I fried my laptop's lithium-ion battery by overheating it too much when gaming for 1.5 years now. Was only getting 20 minutes on a charge. Bought a replacement battery to install.
My laptop is full-body aluminum, and when removing the difficult-to-remove backplate, I sliced my thumb deeply on the razor-sharp internal edge of the backplate.
Hurt like hell. Took a while to get the bleeding to stop. I had to finish what I started, so I swore I'll be careful the rest of the time.
Yet somehow, my hand eventually slipped and I ended up slicing my OTHER thumb, on the exact same component! And the gash was even deeper and hurt even more! And took 3x as long to stop bleeding! I lost so much blood... 😫
Moral of the story: Be careful when dealing with full-body aluminum laptops. They're fucking evil and dangerous. Also, don't let your laptop reach temps above 82-85 degrees Celsius.
Thankfully, no tetanus from any of this. 😓

Based loosely on the popular "git" command, I am happy to announce my new product, "hit"!
Essentially, hit hooks into "git blame" and automatically slaps the shit out of whoever wrote this garbage.
It uses SOHTTP (Slap Over HTTP) to deliver a nice firm wallop to any subpar script kiddie that had the audacity to come up with this bullshit.

Dev: Highly do not recommend that *outlines the likely consequences*.
Client: We don’t care, we DEMAND you do this. We’ll make sure everyone is careful.
Dev: Ok but I warned you. Please submit this request in writing.
Client: Ok, not sure why you would need that. I told you everything would be fine.

Client: HELP!!! OUR DATA IS NOW COMPLETELY MESSED UP. Here's some useful git tricks. Use with care and remember to be careful to only rewrite history when noones looking.
- git rebase: powerful history rewriting. Combine commits, delete commits, reorder commits, etc.
- git reflog: unfuck yourself. Move back to where you were even if where you were was destroyed by rebasing or deleting. Git never deletes commits that you've seen within at least the last 50 HEAD changes, and not at all until a GC happens, so you can save yourself quite often.
- git cherry-pick: steal a commit into another branch. Useful for pulling things out of larger changesets.
- git worktree: checkout a different branch into a different folder using the same git repository.
- git fetch: get latest commits and origin HEADs without impacting local braches.
- git push --force-with-lease: force push without overwriting other's changes5 -
Manager: "We can't have new releases breaking older versions of the mobile app!!!!! We'll lose all our customers!!!!"
fullStackChris: "That's fine, we can do API versioning, but it will take some time to implement, I'll have to be quite careful and write some tests to implement it. Probably 2-3 weeks..."
Manager: "NO WAY, THAT TIME ESTIMATE IS WAY TOO LONG, WE DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THAT!!!"
fullStackChris: "So how do you wanna support multiple versions of the app without doing any sort of versioning?"
Manager: "...we'll think of something!"
Dev: "..."
And with 99% certainty, I expect to hear this in a week or two:
Manager: "fullStackChris, we'd like to introduce you to the highly technical concept, API versioning. It's a way to version the API so we can support multiple versions of the application our customers use! It's amazing! Please implement this immediately so we can support multiple versions of the application!"
Sigh... each day managers learn a bit more how physical reality works... you can't have your cake and eat it too.7 -

One Thursday noon,
operation manager: (looking at mobile)what the.....something is wrong i am getting bunch of emails about orders getting confirmed.
Colleague dev: (checks the main email where it gets all email sent/received) holy shit all of our clients getting confirmation email for orders which were already cancelled/incomplete.
Me: imediately contacting bluehost support, asking them to down the server so just that we can stopp it, 600+ emails were already sent and people keep getting it.
*calls head of IT* telling the situation because he's not in the office atm.
CEO: wtf is happening with my business, is it a hacker?
*so we have a intrusion somebody messed the site with a script or something*
All of us(dev) sits on the code finding the vulnerabilities , trying to track the issue that how somebody was able to do that.
*After an hour*
So we have gone through almost easch function written in the code which could possibly cause that but unable to find anything which could break it.
Head asking op when did you started getting it actually?
Op: right after 12 pm.
*an other hour passes*
Head: (checking the logs) so right after the last commit, site got updated too?. And....and.....wtf what da hell who wrote this shit in last commit?
* this fuckin query is missing damn where clause* 🤬
Me: me 😰
*long pause, everyone looking at me and i couldn't look at anyone*
The shame and me that how can i do that.
Head: so its you not any intrudor 😡
Further investigating, what the holy mother of #_/&;=568 why cronjob doesn't check how old the order is. Why why why.
(So basically this happened, because of that query all cancelled/incomplete orders got updated damage done already, helping it the cronjob running on all of them sending clients email and with that function some other values got updated too, inshort the whole db is fucked up.)
and now they know who did it as well.
*Head after some time cooling down, asked me the solution for the mess i create*
Me: i took backup just couple of days before i can restore that with a script and can do manual stuff for the recent 2 days. ( operation manager was already calling people and apologising from our side )
Head: okay do it now.
Me: *in panic* wrote a script to restore the records ( checking what i wrote 100000000 times now ), ran...tested...all working...restored the data.
after that wrote an apology email, because of me staff had to work alot and it becomes so hectic just because of me.
* at the end of the day CEO, head, staff accepted apology and asked me to be careful next time, so it actually teached me a lesson and i always always try to be more careful now especially with quries. People are really good here so that's how it goes* 🙂2 -
A tip to tech folks from my personal xp.
If you fuck up and make an impacting mistake in your company, like taking PROD down, noone is going to fire you on spot. Assign some more mandatory trainings - maybe. So you'd be more careful next time.
See, it's not worth getting rid of someone who made a mistake. You should be seated down and insisted to fix it. If you don't - then they might consider firing it. If you do fix it [with help or alone] - you become a more valuable asset to the company as you prove you are responsible for your actions and you take it seriously. You show that you can clean up your own shit and you don't need a babysiter next to you.
If you simply make a mistake and they replace you with someone else, that someone else is likely to be unaware of your mistakes and is doomed to repeat them. It's just bad for business.
Ofc if you making mistakes becomes a tendency rather than an exception, it's also a red flag for the business.
Don't get too laxed! And always answer for your shit. Never hide a fuckup - always alarm about it asap so that corrective actions could be taken by respective organs of the company while you are fixing it.
Come up with an action plan, announce it. Estimate resources you need [like help from others] - announce that too. Update concerned parties every half an hour or so about the status. If you find you need anything else while fixing it or you come across some blockers/delays/change of impact - always announce asap. Do avoid false alarms and disinformation.

For Windows driver update, found a great (open source) tool to update or install missing drivers.
https://sdi-tool.org/
My dell laptop (Windows 10) screen used to go blank or some bubble used to appear may times a day. Used Dell driver update tool, no update, says all driver up to date.
Then used Snappy Driver Installer tool, which detected my laptop details correctly.
Then it showed that my display driver was almost a year old and there were couple of updates, latest being just last month. In addition to that, there were 30+ updates on disk drivers, networking, sensors, bluetooth, audio etc.
First updated my display driver, upon success, slowly updated the rest of it. Now, the system worked entire day without any issue. Also, my laptop fan used to run full speed seems to have slowed down.
Also, my external monitor clarity has improved.
ps: worked for me, but be careful. Check it thoroughly before updating, update only those drivers which are giving trouble and there are no updated drivers available from windows or manufacturers.

Atother story about PC hardware and being... Not so careful.
A friend complained about his PSU fan being too loud. I said "well, maybe bearings are dying already".
The next day he messaged me and asked to suggest a new PSU. Ok, I threw him some links.
Leter, he told me what happened:
He decided to clean the PSU, because he thought the noise could be because of dust. So he turned off his PC and removed PSU cover with a screwdriver. While doing this, he accidentally hit the circuit board itself. Then "Puff", black smoke and smell of sth burning. Turned out he didn't switched the PSU off. Luckily, the screwdriver handle was rubberized. I'm glad he is alive ._.1 -

Me: A theory
Workers were executing function X which called save on a model that dint have a path name but instead it called function Y which generated a path for the object to be saved in. This has overridden all the original objects with newly generated ones.
I created my versions out of the newly generated ones. Here's the command and the functions mentioned above.
*Hands over code/links etc*
CTO: Oh I guess I just panicked hahah

Fuck Apple sideways! (Wait for it, the original part begins)
HOW can a company that keeps on boasting about UX, to the point that last WDC they took more time speaking about a fucking kaleidoscope animation for their watch then about the whole changes to their MacBook's hardware, even consider putting that turd of a remote on market.
If you have an Apple Store in reach, I invite you to get up, flush, and go there. Try that atrocity that is the AppleTV, and laugh at how incredibly bad it is. Then do your best to refrain from burning the place down in your inevitable rage, that might cause you legal issues.
The previous AppleTV was fine, it was practically useless, but usable. But for some reason they decided a touchpad with low precision and no gestures was a good idea to put on a remote to a thing that will, due to its target audience, most likely be plugged into a fancy TV that has a 300ms lag due to fancy image processing. That thing gives no feedback, appart from visual, has so little precision that in a movie, the smallest step I've achieved was 5 fucking minutes, while being really fucking careful not to spoil the movie.7 -
So here's the deal. I am a team lead of a small company and I have a junior who is an idiot. I mean literally, idiot. We code in Python mostly and as Python is not structured as a default Java or C# project, the developer needs to be very careful so that the structure (or tiers) is maintained properly.
Now this girl, always messes up the tiers. Say one enhancement can be easily implemented in the UI tier, she would do the implementation in the core Db access layer, which may complete this particular enhancement, but breaks all the other functions (sometimes the whole project) connected to that particular module of the Db layer. She doesn't do any integration testing after updating the code, she only checks the current enhancement she is working on. When the enhancement goes to the testing phase, the testers find those broken functions and that results a re-work (most of the times done by me).
I have warned her. Even our manager has warned her. She always tells that she is working to improve herself. But I know, she isn't. She mostly chats with her boyfriends (yes, with an 's') when she has no work to do. She never upgrades herself or works on her skills.
I can easily report about her, and they will fire her without any warning (they did it already with a guy earlier). I don't want to do that again. What should I do? Any suggestions?
Oh, she has a great ego. She thinks that knows and understands everything. She will listen to your suggestions carefully, but will never follow those.11 -

You know how we all get frustrated with new clients who don't provide enough information or detailed background of what the last dev did or tried?

The recent post on being obsessive with "CTRL+S" reminded me...
Be careful if the file was shared with you via Dropbox.
I was doing this with an excel doc called "services by client" once and got this email...

Subject: "services by client updated...." :-O
AAAAAHHHH OMG
Every time you hit save, I get a popup notification on my screen and its’ been going like once a second for an hour
Are you MANIC SAVING that excel sheet!??? Are you dealing from some past trauma of losing a document that you’ve worked really hard on!!!???
Lol … maybe copy the file outside of that folder a few minutes so I can continue my nap without this little “ding” going off :-P

My boss will be proud when he pulls the changes and the code looks completely fucked up (clean, well structured code, but he doesn't really know observables).
Now something different: Sleep. Cya. -

A shoutout to all the cool guys and gals who are not afraid of covid-19 and see no reason to be careful or take all (any) the safety measures available...
A shoutout to all the cool kids who claim to believe that this is "just a flu".
Feast your eyes on this comparison. We have that low deaths rate (so far) ONLY because we are taking this shit seriously and we take all the precautions we can. Now imagine if the Infected numbers were as high as the Spanish flu -- 33% of the population? Numbers start to get real scarry when you start making conversions to absolute values. considering mortality rates this "just a flu" is the most lethal of all the major flu pandemics since late 19th century (according to this ref.)
Guys, gals, non-binaries, stay safe. Care for yourselves and peeps around you.

this was about office politics. for context, a lot of non tech people think they can borrow our time willy nilly and our boss agrees, so we're often pulled out of our tasks to do random shit.
these girls asked for my consultation on a simple problem, because another team wasn't fixing an issue for them and they said it wasn't possible. i said it was possible and simple to solve, i spoke to the other team, showed them how to do it and thought that was done. they kept asking me to produce proof that it was possible, excessively, like i had nothing to do.
that went on for a week, lots of back and forth, i was getting tired, so i told this girl fine, I'll do this stupid thing IF you send me an email making this a formal exchange, she says fine. the next day i find out they went after another guy in my team, who's much busier than i, and he stopped everything to coddle them.
i told him to be careful about that stuff, because he's setting himself up for this shit, he's making the rest of the team look bad and he's stopping his work to do something that was already done, because they couldn't bother to send an email. had a huge discussion about this, he was super condescending and overall, he was an asshole.
next time, I'll just send the girls his way9 -
-10C winter is unpleasant. -20C winter is dangerous.
-40C winter is cruel. This was the reality of living in Komi Republic — the place I was born in.
Winters there combine extreme dryness with extreme cold. Steel on steel always sparks — gotta be careful at gas stations. Because there is no wind, you don’t actually feel like you’re freezing until it’s too late. If you’re drunk — and everyone there was drunk — you’re walking home, you see a bench, you think: “I’ll just rest for five minutes, no big deal”, and you’re found frozen to death the following morning.
My grandpa once forgot one year old me on the street at night, while — you guessed it — going to get something to drink. I spent something like three hours out there.
I barely made it. Now, my legs don’t feel cold anymore.7 -
Some advice:
- Be careful with the snack;
- Be moderated with your daily dose of caffeine

Byron (reckful) has committed suicide. He was one of the first big streamers on Twitch and a game developer.
He was suffering from depression and has been for quite some time. He always appears happy around friends. He did "joke" about committing suicide on his last stream. Watching the clip makes it obvious that there was some truth to the "joke".
Also, remember that you never know what someone online is suffering from or how that person may interpret a joke. Be careful and think about how your message is received.
Please seek help if you have suicidal thoughts or even signs of depression. It's not a sign of weakness. We all need help sometimes.7 -
It's not always your fault, sometimes your code will be perfectly fine and shit still won't work because someone else fucked up. Be careful which libraries you choose to work with.

I really hate it when I try to be careful with disclosing information of my employer in a rant on Reddit but the CTO who fires me go there and replies in full detail in an attempt to shame you. http://archive.is/sfP00
Because I have bigger balls (or a small brain, depending how you see it) I'll leave the post on but with my response to his comment on my thread as anybody may dig my Reddit account before hiring me for a job.
And yes, he is the same guy I refer in this past rant https://devrant.com/rants/1089376/...
It fucking sucks that the CTO will sleep safe and sound and I can't do much than looking for another job and contribute to FLOSS projects while I build new stuff to improve my skills all this while money is running out. I'm glad I'm living with my parents after this shit hit the fan, less stuff to worry about, but this is not life.13 -
I hate that I have to be careful of what I say about specific languages so that I don't hurt peoples feelings. If you get upset because someone called Java or PHP ugly, get over it.
All languages are shit. If you have a favorite, good for you. IMO you only limit yourself if you think that .Net is always the answer, or if you think that every project needs to be in a JVM.
We often forget to ask why a language exists before we start to use it. No sane person is going to use Java to develop a quick one time script. Same can be said for all languages.
So when someone tells you, "Python sucks" they probably mean, "Python sucks for this use case". Except for Perl.
Fuck Perl.7 -

Hey DevRant,
Today I bring bad news. My little coding companion (little degu) in one of my past posts has done something to its back leg/paw whilst taking a fall off my brother's leg. My younger brother wasn't careful enough and the goo was unlucky enough to land on the floor injured. My feelings towards my brother and what he has done are still something I'm not sure about.
We took the goo to the vet as the goo was in severe pain. The vet gave the goo some morphine for the pain. It stopped looking stressed after a while and then it was completely chill. I was just so glad (and still am) that it's not feeling the excruciating pain it felt before. Because we don't have insurance, the price for the emergency consultation alone was quite high, but at this point I really didn't care about money...
The goo is spending the night at the vets where it will be free of pain and in the morning, the vets will x-ray the goo and see weather it can be mended. If it will not be able to be mended, the goo will have to be put down. But even during the x-ray or surgery process, the goo can die. Small animals and goos are at a higher rate of dying under anesthesia than other animals simply because you cannot feed them tubes. I just really really hope this will be okay.
Thank you for listening,

Use this as a template to send rejection letter to your recruiter as a revenge.
"Dear Recruiter,
Thank you for considering me for the software engineering position at your company. After careful consideration, I regret to inform you that I am unable to accept your offer.
As a highly qualified and skilled software engineer, I am confident that I could bring a great deal of value to your organization. However, after reading the job description and learning more about your company, I have come to the realization that I am simply too good for the position. I have no interest in joining a team where my talents and abilities would be underutilized and unappreciated.
Furthermore, I am a bit concerned about the working environment at your company. I have heard rumors that the office is dingy, the cafeteria food is subpar, and the company culture is lacking. I am a true perfectionist, and I refuse to settle for anything less than the best.
In conclusion, I must decline your offer. I wish you and your company the best of luck in finding a candidate who is worthy of the position.
Sincerely,

Tried flutter for the first time in life, for 2 days, java based Android dev here.
I have some.... thoughts...
Flutter does not feel extremely new to me. It is very much relatable if you have ever tried basic the spring/ other java based gui framework. It is trying to achieve the goods from multiple worlds, its so far good, but mann its playing on thin ice.
Flutter : Yo boy embrace me. I am the beauty. checkout my hot reload.
Me :❤️❤️😍 (But wait. your first execution is wayy longer than a simple android studio build. And AS would generally take smaller time after every rebuild. And you are going to take the same long time as first build, if app gets closed or my usb gets accidentally removed. So I see what you did there ;))
Flutter: Ha. Checkout my function passing as parameter. ever thought your puny java going to give you that?
Me :you got me ,❤️. (Although this style is not so uncommon with web devs)
Flutter: everything is a widget, everything is stateful or stateless, Single Streams FTW!
me: ❤️
Flutter:You kotlin devs are gonna love me, i got Small, concise code
Me: Now wait, This is a thin ice for me, okay? I hated when kotlin replaced everything with symbols & lamdas for a confusing but small code, So be careful, even though your code is still good.
Flutter : Control every pixel , dear! No more xmls!
Me : Yes, what is with that? are we accidentally going in the past?
Java desktop apps, spring framework used to build whole layouts with programming language. The day i stepped into Android, it was xml for ui and java/kotlin for code. was that a bad decision or is this one?
Anyways i liked my stuff seperated, but that's just me.
Flutter : Ugh so much whining. Are you going to work with me or not?
Me : Yes mam! ❤️4 -
PSA: If you use jQuery and BlueImp's jQuery File Upload there is a big potential vulnerability you need to be aware of. If you use NPM to pull the repo into your public folder, the "server" folder will be available for people to take advantage of. "Hackers" may be able to upload malicious code and replace parts of your site.
I had a site hacked and later saw on Google Analytics that people were posting to random URLs in that folder. The fix is to simply delete that folder, but if you use NPM, you need to be extra careful it doesn't come back.
Also, I didn't investigate further. So I'm not sure what (if anything) is vulnerable in there, or if it was just the specific version I had. To be safe, if you use this plugin (as MANY people do), just delete the folder.
Link to the repo for your reference: https://github.com/blueimp/...

A little background of me. I’m a firm believer of knowledge is power, skill is practice and hard work. Especially for this field, it’s easier to self learn the skills or language these days without having to take loans or burn a huge hole in ur wallet and stuff. But i personally feel, it’s hard to follow an effective path of learning when the info is everywhere. So have to be careful with that. (that’s why I’m here to learn from experts, lurking around)
Sure, degree is just a paper or validation that this person has completed this and that. But doesn’t reflect their actual skill. Especially for this field where u can just show ur skills by making projects. If ur potential boss is impressed by ur skills, u are hired. BUT if ure in Singapore, they require u to have degree by law. No matter how skilled u are, u only get specific amount of salary within a preset range. The range goes by Diploma, Degree, Master, PhD. Etc. U will still get hired by a company if they like u, but won’t get more than a preset range.
I was contented with just my Diploma. But decided to get degree cuz I wanted to earn more. And now considering to go for ms, just cuz my current company gives sponsorship.
Aside from salary, I do think getting a degree in University is one of the important phases of the life, where ure working hard, trying to juggle different things. Also, u do get other perks being a uni students, like discount for books, get access to latest devices if the uni has.
But all in all, whatever floats ur boat, right.4 -
So yesterday I discussed how I am using speech to text to do approximately 50% of my rants. I am now doing a growing percentage of my outlook emails by voice as the human-computer voice interaction is pleasing and very natural. I have even named my iPhone 'little jumpshot' today.
Today I experimented with text to speech so that my rants are automatically read back to me before I send them. Some decent results.
In settings - general - accessibility you will find voice over (not recommended - be careful). Below that is Speech - speak selection or speak screen options.
Speak selection allows you to highlight text to be spoken. Too much human interaction for my purposes of walking hopefully not tripping be looking down. Using up my nine lives 😐
Below voiceover is - Speak screen - which allows you to pull down the screen with two fingers to speak what is on the screen. This will read the rant or of there are multiple rants on the screen it will read those as well.
It works but it will take a bit of getting used to. It also requires a few clicks here and there.
My goal is to interact with devRant fluidly 100% by voice. Just talking to 'little jumpshot' and him creating and posting all of my rants and reading all the other rants developers post.
For a few days experimenting I am satisfied with the progress but there is a long way to go.
Hopefully, in the end, this may help some people. Any ideas are very welcome.4 -
I've been laughed at a lot for thinking this way, but I'm honestly frustrated by how little information exists on the web for people who want to take Operating System development a step further. I mean, the OSDev Community is amazing and offers pretty, much everything one needs to know at the system level. But my issue is: What if someone didn't want to use existing compilers and assemblers like GCC and NASM, and do everything from total scratch? I mean, the original Unix came from somewhere, right? I know you're going to think "Why not? It works.". Well, I just think it's crazy how few people (such as Linus and the GNU foundation) are out there that have the ability to create such things without help from existing software tools. Sure, it could take me decades of careful practice and experience, but my passion is for creating software at this level and becoming one of those people is very strong. I just wish I knew where to begin and who to learn from.4

For all my friends here who have known me for years can easily notice there has been a drastic change in me.
I used to be confident. That shit was hollow but I used to laugh in the face of fear. I was ignorant and that ignorance fueled a lot of the much needed confidence.
Over the years, I learned a lot. The more I know, the more I realised how much I don't know. And for all that I know, I have to use the brain power to retain and implement it, else it rusts.
This image is of my 2021 goals that I drafted last December. Wasn't able to achieve the first, the last and the art one. But surely got myself surrounded by some of the smartest people I have ever worked with.
Now they have rightly said, be careful with what you wish for.
MY CONFIDENCE IS SHATTERED.
I feel dumb. Constant imposter syndrome. While I am learning every moment and there is no measure to it, I feel incompetent to an extent that I have started questioning how did I even reach this far?!
While, yet again I am the youngest in my team, my manager is bit micromanaging and agressive with OKRs/KPIs and tech team isn't very supportive creating constant friction (something I never faced with developers in my life because devs are my best friends), I fear how much more time will I take to ramp up in this new job and feel confident enough to tackle things on my own without constant nudge from leadership or different teams?
Or is it just that I have burnt out firefighting and lost the motivation I had?
After all, what does this all even mean?

I’ve now worked with three Toptal devs. The first one logged time he didn’t actually work and would edit conversation history to conceal commitments he had made. The second one would disappear for days at a time without notice, and the third is incapable of communicating or working together with team members. She has replaced large portions of our codebases without notice or discussion, and now we have to roll all of it back and convince Toptal to refund the time.
Turns out that toptal’s interview process manages to miss things like honesty/trustworthiness and communication. Be careful hiring from there.6 -
I'm usually very careful with *everything* except today, I spilled half my water bottle on my personal laptop which I was using for interview prepping and while I had no plans to buy a new computer for the time being (not by choice lol). Here's a photo of my 5 year old boy.

One Pro Tip for all developers :
(in my experience - a short story)
Our team chose agile development. We have items to deliver each sprint.
I was the guy who would always slip in my tasks due to issues that would pop up.
It was due to my own faults, I was less careful and failed to concentrate on one single item when I was working.
I started slipping a lot and my manager started questioning me on my performance. I tried a lot of productivity apps and other methods. Nothing seemed to change my life.
One day, An experienced person in the team said to me,
"Start Going to the gym" and it'll change everything.
I enrolled to the nearest gym and started working out every morning. Had sore arms /legs in the first few days. Nothing seemed to change.
After one week, my work patterns changed. I automatically started to work with a lot of concentration. I still don't know how things changed.
After 2 weeks, everything was completely different.
I was able to complete my sprint tasks in the first few days and started contributing to others work. Got a lot of recognition. My work was recognized a lot and my manager appreciated me.
So this is a real life changer folks.
"start hitting the GYM", and it'll change your life.
Please try it out and tell me how your work patterns change.3 -
!dev, just a couple little things that happened to me recently.
First off, I just (like 20 minutes ago) replaced the save battery in my Pokemon Silver, so that's fun. Now I want to start modding my GBC (new shell, glass screen, all the fun stuff)
My friend is talking to me again, as of yesterday. The whole situation is still kinda touchy so I'm gonna be careful about talking to her for now, but after some time it should be all good.
I recently took up vaping (I know, it's bad and I shouldn't do it, but I'm an adult and that's my fucking decision).
Then yesterday, I gave a friend a ride home from school. He didn't have his house key so he was locked out and had to wait for his dad to get home. The neighborhood I live in, you don't really leave someone sitting outside for too long, cause shit might happen to them (drug deals are a regular thing across the street from my house, gunshots aren't too common, but still), so I stayed with him.
I'd never met his dad, and I didn't want his first impression to be me letting out a huge vape cloud, so if I was going to take a hit, I would check to make sure nobody was around. At one point, I checked, then took a huge hit. Then I heard my friend say "oh there's my dad". Cue me practically gluing my mouth shut, not breathing at all as I waved bye, turned my car on, pulled out of the driveway, and drove down the street some.
When I let the cloud out, it was a HUGE fucking cloud too. Much bigger than the ones I've normally had. Definitely would have been a bad introduction, especially considering that friend's family is not very fond of that type of stuff (smoking/vaping, drinking, etc) from what I know. -
Fucking shit for brains authors that think the digital world is a fantasy realm where everything can happen just to aid their story. Out of boredom i watched "scorpion" today, a tv series about a group of geniusses which are a special case task force.
They got a visitor from the government saying the servers from the federal reserve bank were encrypted with ransomware. I already twitched when they said the economic system would collapse if the servers were left inoperational for a few days. Then one guy got to his desk and "hacked" the fed network to check... he then tried to remove the malware but "it changed itself when observed". But they got the magical fingerprint of the device that uploaded it. In the end some non-programmers created the malware, but it is super fast and dangerous because it runs on a quantum computer which makes it hyper fast and dangerous. They got to the quantum computer which was a glowing cube inside another cube with lasers going into it and they had to use mirrors to divert the lasers to slow down that quantum thingy. And be careful with that, otherwise it explodes. In the end the anti-malware battled the malware and won, all in a matter of minutes.
This is a multimillion hollywood production. How can a movie this abusive to computer science even air on television? Shit like this is the reason people still think the cyberworld is some instable thing that can explode any second. It's not, it's an instable thing that can break down any second. I remember "ghost in the wires" and people had surreal imaginations about the internet already. Shit like this is why people stay dumb and think everything can be done in seconds. If i ever should encounter one of these idiots i tell him i have an app that can publish his browser history by taking a picture of his phone and watch his reaction.
Time to shuw down the tv and learn vim again.11 -
Question: is it a red flag if I'm "not supposed to" blog about tips and tricks I've found at work (not even code level, just organization and general design patterns)? Reason given to me: "we need to be careful about due diligence and intellectual property for our investors to be satisfied". Am I working with idiots?7

Me: Alright Derwent, don't fuck up this database update. There's no undo button and no way to import a database backup so you gotta be extra careful or you're going to have to spend hours writing a whole bunch of regular expressions and sql statements to sift through an 11mb database dump and figure out how to restore 59 thousand records to the correct state. Let's practice this transition on a staging server first and make sure we get it right

In this era, information is much more precious than money itself.
I'm not saying that information wasn't as important back in the days. It's just, at present gathering information is much easier than it ever was!! Especially on people who spend more time on mobiles phones and computers.
Formally stated, Newton's third law is: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. As we're consuming information continuously, going through so many webpages, laughing at menes that are relatable and using apps that we need to perform day to day task. We're also providing information that we don't realize doing. This adds up to determining out individual personality.
One can never be too careful to prevent all these, but we can still minimize the damage.2 -
You can solve a lot of problems with regex... but you can also create others if you're not careful:

If you have clumsy people around you, your belongings are never safe.
I left the laptop on the table for just a few hours, and this is what I returned to. Someone carelessly moved the laptop to the right without paying attention to the USB stick, so it bent from the table to the right with a higher position.
Indeed, lack of protrusion is the main reason SD cards are better than USB sticks, and why laptops should have full-sized SD card slots, and why external SD card readers are no valid replacement for built-in SD card slots. Relying on an external SD card reader outright defeats the primary benefit of SD cards, lack of protrusion.
One can be careful with ones belongings every day and have them last a long time, but then someone else comes and ruins it for you. Years of effort with being careful have been wasted. Clumsy people will certainly find new creative ways to break your stuff.

One poor pepega like me will spend days optimizing a web app, reducing the bundle size, reusing components as much as possible to save space, carefully choosing the right libraries for the right jobs and doing some careful tayloring to bring them in line with your needs, choosing the right webpack plugins to compile everything exactly like you want and keeping track of every dependency to make sure nothing unwanted makes its way to the final product, caching results to avoid any unnecessary call to the server, then some random team leader randomly forces you to drop in jquery-era plugins just because they look nice and won't listen to a word you're saying.
I KNOW WHAT THE FUCK IS A SWEET ALERT; I DIDN'T USE IT FOR A FUCKING REASON.2 -

Kind of dev related, during a Firefly one-shot roleplay:
GM: So you have a data chip in your pocket. Do you want to see what's on it?
Me (hesitant): ...Kinda. *wait* Okay, I put the chip into one of my computers.
GM: The data chip shows random gibberish--it's encrypted. Your engineer may know how to decrypt it.
Me: Okay. Hey, Engineer! *holds imaginary data chip out to her* Decrypt this!
Engineer: No. *pause*, *sighs* Fine. But we need to be careful.
GM: Yes, now time for technobabble...
Me: So once we decrypt this, it's probably going to look for the MAC address, so we need an air-gapped machine--a machine that's never been online before--and a TAILS LiveUSB. We'll decrypt the data chip and then destroy the computer.
GM: ...Technobabble.
Fighter: ....I actually understood that and it actually makes sense. Good job. *fist bump*1 -
So in the morning today, I played with some game engines and libraries, one of them is Orx.
When I `git clone` the repo and setup for it, the doc says that I can use `init.sh` to setup my Orx game project. Sweet!
When I run it, the program ask me for the path, I thought that it will allow me to create a game project at any path. So I entered `~/Projects/Games/my-orx-game`.
After that, it asked for some other stuff and I just skip though it.
Then, I went to `~/Projects/Games` and use `ls` to check my game project, but I don't see anything. I went back to where I installed Orx and realized that it creates a game project __in__ the directory that it was installed. Now, there's a directory called `~` inside the directory. I remove it using `rm -rf ~`, but Linux stopped me with `Premission denied`. Then for some stupid reason, I typed `sudo rm -rf ~` without thinking. After doing that line, my fish shell comes to it original prompt. And I realized I fucked up.
I restarted the computer, thought that I wiped the whole OS. Luckily, it just wiped the configuration files. The softwares works completely fine. My Project files and any content in those default directories (Like `Music` and `Downloads`) are also wiped. But I don't care about them at all. At least not right now.
Now I know that I need to be more careful when typing a command in the terminal.12 -
The irony that goes along with smooth migrations on production is this.
If the migration is smooth, no one knows how much effort, careful planning and execution went into the whole process. They just get a for your information mail that everything went smooth. No one, not involved in the process would know the scale of things; or what could've happened if the transition/migration was screwed up.
On the other hand if there are problems during the process and the tech team fights back, they indeed are the heroes. No one notices the silent crusaders.
No wonder then that all superheroes just smash stuff. Its only then that people notice that they worked so hard. Silent superheroes remain dead.rant smooth migrating production transition developer life superhero migration programmer life disaster -

Don't look at the code base else you'll get same ideas I got and would never come with an original solution. Then she further goes on advising on solving map reduce problems and giving me some tips to be careful about.
I turned amazed. It was like deja vu. I said the same thing to my friend some time last week.
My eyes glittered and suddenly I am like
Where were you all these days ???
Nothing is more attracting then a girl talking about code.
Am I the only one ??6 -
So I still have my very first email account, a hotmail account as a secondary, kinda spam account.
i signed up around 2000 i guess.
someone tried to get in, i got loads of mails of failed login attempts so i wanned to go and change my pw. But because of that bastard i cant login with just pw anymore, i need my phone. THAT ACCOUNT IS 20 FUCKING YEARS OLD. I never even provided a phone.
spent the last 20 minutes providing personal details to microsoft which are probably not the ones i used for signing up anyway.
you know how careful we were whem signing up for something online back them? I probably signed up as Thomas anderson from zion...
anyway, done now and bow it will take 24h for them to review it..
all of this only to reset my forgotten pw for my epic games account for with i signed up with that mail..,
holy guacamole.. I should start to trust password managers...1 -
Just met with country brand manager of famous MNC automobile brand. They have their brand website for our country. He doesn't know any information and doesn't have any information regarding the website nor domain. He has been there for 2 years already and the website was made when the brand came to our country. So now he is stuck with that stupid ugly and most of all out-dated website.
So my point is, why the fuck did business people think domain and server information are less important and doesn't need to keep it documented and confidential?
Ok forget about server. They have to at least be very very careful with the domain name which they use it everywhere everyday.
What if it was some sick bastard like me who bought that domain and made that website? I could drop their butt ugly pages and put some animals seriously making love video up there.1 -
My drunk grandpa decided to cook fried eggs by just throwing them as-is on an electric burner. They started to explode, smoke filled the small room with no windows. I took my younger sister and we ran away, but the smoke made her turn into a red cat.
Meanwhile, my actual cat slipped into a cavern of quicksand. My cat sister stumbled and started to slide into it too, but I was able to save her. Now she’s crying.
A rabid raccoon attacked me. He has a voice of Nick Wilde from Zootopia, and dirty needles for his teeth. I hold it by his neck, my older sister appears out of nowhere. I don’t know what to do to make the raccoon go away.
For context, she has confirmed IQ of around 140 in the real world. She tells me that the most efficient way to do that is to remove its eyes. Raccoon disagrees. She tells me she’s about to patent a device that removes rabid animals’ eyes easily with no hassle. She then proceeds to pull out a crudely fashioned rusty thing which is just an altered door hinge and proceeds to pop out raccoon’s eyes. She throws them away. Raccoon gets calm and wanders off, stumbling into everything.
I go back to my trailer. I try to park it into a better spot, but it falls on its side. As I escape it, a living rubber helper bolus, a good sibling of the felonious bolus from a PilotResSun’s video, is already there. He tells me it’s a rapist-only zone, and I should be careful.

When I talk about release a personal project to GNU/GPL license (when it's finished, some day) people looks at me like "wow, be careful". It makes me think about the mythology around silicon valley and how the idea of writing a killer app or a nice machine and instantly grow rich became a standard, even when it's terribly wrong and false...2

If any of you play counterstrike or have friends that play counterstrike, watch out for a scam where a friend might ask you to vote for their logo/team on some bs "varsity clash whatever" site.
The thing pops up a fake steam login window and tries to phish you as far as I can tell. It's even styled as a Window window (which is fun when you're on linux like me)
I made a throw away account just to test it and I got some fun logins from Russia, though I revoked the access fast enough so that I retained control.
as far as I can tell the site only exists for a couple of days according to WHOIS and all the steam login assets are hosted on some unrelated non valve server...
This PSA is not really for the more skilled and careful people here, but I thought I'd stick it here for the possibly lurkers and less experienced users just in case.5 -

FU OneTab. This is second time you lost my saved tabs. Off you go.
TL;DR OneTab extension has major bug.
Anyone who read my suggestions/comments to use OneTab to save your opening tabs on your Chrome and Firefox, I apologize from here. And suggest you to be careful with it. I know that I have recommended it plenty of times here.
I have no idea what's causing the data lost. I used OneTab since years ago on Chrome and it worked fine. I switched to Firefox when Quantum came out. OneTab came to FF addon repo this year. I was very happy and installed and used it straight away. But it wasn't as good as before.
I don't like to open lots of tabs. Max I have will be a dozen. I like to work different task, different project on different windows. I usually have 2 windows. One window for my personal and social use with tabs like devRant, discord, etc. Second window for one of my projects and I usually work on one project at a time. If I have to juggle among multiple projects unfortunately, I open third or fourth windows respectively.
Hence, saving all opening tabs of a window to be able to open it easily next time is a very useful feature for me. I don't even need those saved to be permanent. I save URLs I frequently visit as bookmarks and URLs I found useful to pocket.
OneTab served that purpose. But losing saved tabs is definitely major problem for me. So I have uninstalled it and now giving a try to Stash. Very new add-on, so I'm still not sure of it yet. On bright side, it is made for Firefox and open-source. OneTab is not open-source.

So far Stash is working fine. But I will wait and see for a week or so.2 -
I have a rant. A genuine rant, not a funny story, etc.
I want a keyboard. I need one. It can cost €500, as long as it won't break in a year and fulfils all my needs. Make it a €1000, I don't care. What are my needs then? Well...
It has to be a split keyboard - two halves. But wireless in every aspect, ergonomic, with multimedia keys on its outer edges (preferably pointing outwards, not up) and a heavy metal trackball on the right outer edge (preferably upper right corner). That's a bare minimum.
On top of that it probably some magnetic scrolls for things like navigating pages, changing volume and fidgeting in general wouldn't hurt. Also I'd prefer it to snap back into a one-piece whenever I need it to lie on my knees, e.g. when I type while sitting on a coach (I have a coach PC setup, no desk, and there's a reason). Why do I need it to split then...?
I had an accident. Kind of broke my back when I was 11. It's mostly okay now after couple years of rehabilitation and many more years of careful living. Luckily the only two wheels I ride on are powered by a 105.97 hp @ 9,970 rpm engine. Still, I try to be careful so I tried tons of work hygiene techniques over the years and I found out anything over 2 hours is best done while lying flat.
Coding while lying flat has its challenges, mostly focused around screen and input. Ever since I got a VR headset half of them got solved but the other half - acquiring a suitable keyboard - it's very hard to satisfy. I tried that with a one-piece keyboard lying on my stomach. Turns out actively bending elbows quickly wears them out (hello tennis players). So a split keyboard it has to be. So far I tried 4 different ones and I had to modify the cable connecting both halves in each and every one of them so that it'd be long enough to go behind my back. The main cable itself I only had to modify once because usually there're extensions available.
Apart from cables, all of those keyboards had issues. Starting from some kind of de-syncing when keys from both halves would randomly register in a wrong order - I didn't know it's possible with a cable connected halves... I did try two generic WiFi keyboards (using one for each hand) and they unfortunately suffered from that very same issue but I was sure it wouldn't happen if the device was designed to be a one unit from the very beginning, right? And yet it in 2 of the tested devices.
Other than that, plugs disconnecting on their own forcing me to take off the headset and fiddle around, too high key travel that'd strain the wrists after a few hours, even the noise that would wake up my girlfriend sleeping in a separate room were all a common issue (I briefly had an almost completely silent WiFi mechanical keyboard from Logitech we both really liked, but it was a one-piece). Once I got a split keyboard that was "natively" WiFi but not only the two halves were still connected with a cable that turned out to be way too short for my needs, it also had a very noticeable lag despite the high price - a lag way higher than any of the cheap WiFi keyboards I owned in the past. So I sent it back. Now IDK what to do because AFAICT there are no more models available, at least where I live.
So yeah, I need a keyboard and I'll probably have to make one myself. Sorry, just had to vent.4 -
To anyone with good knowledge of RxJs:
Should I be careful how many subscriptions I have open at a time? I'm specifically thinking about memory usage.
While obviously it's more, does it make a huge impact on memory usage, if I have 20 subscriptions active, compared to 2?5 -

So I bought this HP laptop about a year ago thinking HP was actually reliable. But oh boy was I wrong. The fucking screen cracked within the first 2 months, because of a small drop from a table, even while it was in my backpack. And the plastic casing is flimsy. It's only been a year, and it's already slowing down because of, what I'm almost positive is age. I've been careful not to do or download anything that might give it a virus. And this thing is supposed to last me another 2 years till college. And, it's fan is the most annoying thing ever. It'll run even if I'm not doing anything super demanding like browsing the internet with only a couple tabs. I'm not one of those people who usually have a ton of tabs open. What's worse is that it's the only machine I have to code with. The school chromebooks are complete shit, and I avoid them at all costs, my cs class has PC's to use but I can only use them during school hours.9

I just got scammed in web3. Again. Luckily by following an extremely strict risk management i lost $25.
But apparently now i have to be even more strict and be rigorous to the extremes.
"Pay me up front payment and ill start" Fuck you. Fuck all of you requesting for an upfront payment.
Do you think in the real world when you get hired at ANY job, do you think you're paid up front even a fucking dime? NO. You start working and get paid 1 whole ass Fucking month LATER. But only in web3 do these shitholes ask for an "uP fRoNt pAyMenT s0 i cAn StaRt wOrkiNg". No. Fuck you. I hope you get a fucking cancer and choke on a dead ape's dick.
How Fucking PATHETIC does your poor miserable waste of life have to be to scam someone for just $25? What the fuck?
Web3 is FULL, actually full is a compliment so I'll say it this way: Web3 is OVERLOADED AND OVERFILLED WITH FUCKING SCAMMERS. They're dripping EVERYWHERE. DMs. Discord. Twitter. Fake profiles. Fake messages. Fake cloned websites. Fake scam influencers. Fake marketers. Fake collab managers. Lies deception and exaggeration of results. Or even if it's the original collection, it's probably still a scam.
I don't know what to fucking do no more.
OH have i mentioned Web3 influencers? Oh my fucking god. These influencers on twitter for web3 are the most narcissistic, egocentric, arrogant, RUDE and EXTREMELY disrespectful as fucking pricks they are. I can not lead a normal conversation with ANY of them without them offending me because i dont want to give them my hard earned money right away. Fuck you. FUCK YOU. I HOPE YOUR WHOLE FAMILY DIES IN CAR CRASH FUCKING LOSERS.
Instead of focusing on building in web3 and developing software im now stressing 90% of the time about potential scammers and focus on being careful not to get scammed......
The amount of TOXICITY in Web3 is EXTREME. This is so Fucking ANNOYING and mentally EXHAUSTING21 -
Why is so Fitbit so bad at multiple time zones??
Guess what, people get on planes and travel.
Every time, my Fitbit gets so screwed up, including things like changing previous step counts, or duplicating an entire day of steps.
I understand MTZ is a tough problem, but this is just unacceptable. I'm not obsessed with my steps, but when your product is all about counting something, seems like you should be more careful to avoid double counting or not counting at all. Seriously, how much R&D have they invested in their hardware and apps, but it completely fails when you travel. Get it together!1 -
Our company cooperates with a university in training students. In my time that meant learning about HTML, CSS and OOP in the first semester, so that we'd be able to actually do stuff in the company. Nowadays it means learning none of that crap but instead Racket. "What the flying shit is Racket", you ask? "Oh, it's a functional programming language. It has lots of parentheses!", student says. Well fuck me. Out go 2 days of careful planning what task they should be able to handle, in go 3 weeks of tutorials and explaining basic shit they are supposed to learn in university...1

Be careful with scams. The last scam-looking thing I've seen pop up a lot is a mail from Paypal saying my account has been terminated due to a breaking a rule that encompasses a lot of different things (from scams to illegal activity).
I don't even use Paypal all that much so I knew this had to be a mistake. I just have a CardA that sometimes gives me trouble when paying online because the bank is kind of shit, but doesn't give me trouble when paying with it through Paypal.
Naturally, I'm curious about this. However all the details are in some mystery PDF attached.
At this point I just opened the PDF out of morbid curiosity in another machine. The mystery PDF contained a link to an external site where I could "view what was wrong". Naturally, I just deleted the file.
What tipped me off originally was the domain name. the mail didn't come from paypal.com, but paypal-live.com.6 -

When it comes to judgemental conclusion of people's acts, I've always been careful and maintain a total calmness because I never can really tell what influences such acts. The so called boss I'm working for, obviously has anger issues and I find it very difficult to tell what triggers such irritating habit. Unfortunately, it is uncontrollable by him. He releases it whenever it comes. I've tried as much as possible to avoid falling into the pit of false consensus bias - i.e, the tendency of assuming other people should think like me. I work my ass 50 - 60+ hours a week + weekends for his startup company without expecting much in return but he still feel people are not important to him. Nothing actually interests me anymore in the company and I feel quitting is a necessity for me right now - please, I need people's opinions regarding this.1

Spent days telling people what to do. What the database fields should look like, went down to every little bit, which was annoying because I hired them to think for themselves.
Spent a couple days verifying this and that. "Is this field really needed?"
Of course it's needed, otherwise why would it be in the specs? It took me two fucking days to communicate on these things they could have just done in half an hour.
They do it wrong. It's been clearly outlined and it's still wrong.
Management then insists on more communication so things don't go wrong. We have meetings every day to discuss what must be done. Every other day we have meetings between another project leader to discuss what we just discussed. Every two days we have progress report meetings.
We spend 70% of the time communicating now and everyone still gets everything done wrong. This is why you have to be really, really careful when hiring. Technical interviews can just be giving someone a spec and seeing whether they can do it. -
This week has been all read-only.
Me: I'm bored and I need some actual work.
Boss: Be careful what you are asking for1 -
I was going to rant today about lack of self-awareness and emotional intelligence in some developers, this rant was based on the interviews I have seen flop over the years.
But then, as I am typing it, people in my office start having this exact conversation. We get together and discuss it and in the end we come to the same conclusion as my rant.
Now it feels like a waste to rant about something on the internet when I got to have a real in-person discussion about it.
It’s like devRant in real life!

A user didn’t remember creating an account and didn’t understand why they received an “account created” email. Best case: this person just forgot. Worst case: someone impersonated them.
I look up this person’s order history and see only one order in the database. The account was created right after the order. Order was for $10k. I’m thinking, oh shit was there a fraudulent payment?!
I dig deeper and see it’s actually for a membership renewal. And our records are showing a birthdate for 1937. Now I’m thinking, ok I have a high roller who is very old. So I have to be REALLY careful about my response to this person.
I manage to reproduce the scenario and…it’s totally user error. The person just forgot they created an account. I’m letting customer service handle the correspondence for this. Sorry CS. -

It's interesting how netscape was one among to start the dotcom bubble, and how the breakage of said bubble gave Douglas Crockford some time to read ECMA script standards, and really drove him to write the 'good parts' and JSLint. Which then lead millions of js frameworks to bloom; then node, react, now flutter; and what not!
Time travellers should be really careful not to step on that netscape fly!4 -
Competing on different subjects while in school have taught me how to work efficiently under pressure. My teachers have given me a systemmatic approach to problem solving, from divide and conquer (math), careful reading and analysis of the problem, as well as good documentation (physics).
And last, but not least, I learned to type fast, which is really helpful in speedy expression of thoughts. And for that, I gotta thank IRC. -

Clients started using our system after a lot of infrastructure issues, a few days later everything stopped working. Hell break loose in the company one day the developers fix the issue next day was something similar. After a week of threats, fights and gunshots, one of the colleagues found out that one DB script file is missing, git history can't show why. After going a bit deeper with other tools, they found that I did a fucked up git merge that overwritten the original script. And that was 3 months ago...needless to say that the team got very, very pissed... So my tip is, be careful with git mine and theirs because that can fuck you up...2

I just finally took time to look at creating symbolic links for node modules and package and package lock json files all from a boilerplate code for my frontend projects,
I saved over 15gb of disk space,
my SSD is 40gb so that's fair
now I have all my node modules for frontend projects in a separate container and node modules for backend projects in a separate container
I still havent figured out how to trim down my package.json file before pushing because there'll be some unused libraries.
for now any direct changes I make to the package and package lock json files will be reflected in the the symlinked directory and them reflect over all projects that share it
I have to be careful here7 -

So I'm brushing my teeth, and mama slams the door open. She says oh sorry, I thought the bathroom was empty. I say it's ok, I'm just brushing my teeth. But K'BYBIB, mama.
What? K'BYBIB? What are you speaking in? Hebrew or aramaic?
No. English. It's an acronym: Knock Before You Burst Into (a) Bathroom.
A very simple rule, that everyone should follow. But a few days later, the exact same thing happens, and I repeat the advice, knowing I must've said this to her about a hundred times already.
On another occasion, she gets up from the dinner table in a hurry, then *almost* trips and falls to the ground. Her feet got stuck on the chair. Anyway she's fine. But I see this happen and say be careful mama, get up slowly or you could fall. Free your feet before you try to start walking.
Same pattern as before, she doesn't listen. So it happens again, and thankfully she also doesn't trip this time, but the problem is obvious. She may fall one day, or worse God forbid, and we can't be there at all times to make sure she doesn't get hurt.
This is constantly on my mind. Nothing serious has happened yet. Emphasis on "yet". Seems like a matter of time, and I hate to say it, but I don't think I can stop this. Mama doesn't have any disabilities, she just has to be more careful, but refuses to listen. So yeah. I'm only stressing and that's that, God willing.2 -

I'm still on a regular basis reminded of how I might be wrong despite the absolute certainty in how obviously wrong the other person is.
Lately I've been working on setting up this API with a fairly intricate database integration. One request can lead to multiple db calls if we're not careful, so we have been polishing up the implementation to guard against ddosing ourselves and dealing with thread-unsafe concurrency.
Someone on the team could happily report that they got rid of all async use so there should no longer be threading issues. "You mean it all runs sync now?" "I guess. It works at least".
I'm just internally pulling a surrender cobra. If this was pre-dev me I would have let him and everyone know what a stupidpants he is and that I thought he had some experience in api development. But let's not make an exception to the rule; I might be wrong. I mean I'm not, but let's pretend I could be. Let's pull down the changes and maybe set up a minimal example to demonstrate how this is a bad idea.
Funny story. He got rid of explicit calls to the database entirely. When resolving data, the query is instead constructed virtually and execution is deferred until the last step. Our functions are sync now because they don't call the database, and threading isn't an issue since there's only one call per request context.
Thank god I've learned to keep my mouth shut until I can prove with absolute conclusive certainty that they are wrong. Here's to another day of not making an ass of myself. -
I started using angular about one month ago, I did a long course and now I'm trying to do my first commercial app.
I have to say I really really hate the template engine of angular, I've been web developing for about 5 years, I've used bootsrap, materialize and foundation.
It rally sucks how it's all different in angular, their fucking gryd system didn't even use classes, use weird html tags, and the angular material has very very poor examples and documentation.
Another shitty thing is the Google search, when I search any shit about angular or angular material I have to watch careful if it is angularjs or only angular because most folks switch the names without any criteria.
Why the hell Google has to make a framework so incompatible with standard shit? Why it has to be a pain to use a fucking framework after 5 years of experience?
If someone can give me an advice I will be grateful1 -

Guess who need to build on top of the pile of shit!
Anyway, I wasn't really careful about what kind of template I was given to work on a new SPA page, so I'm doing the job given the time, but it's fucking gory:

- too much inline styling
- too many <style> sections (n per layer or partial)
- too many <script> sections (n per layer or partial)
- poor CSS styling or no styling at all! (classes without any style nor js association)😠
He's just been lucky that the browser is capable of handling his shit

So I just ran crontab -r while thinking that I should be careful not to run it when trying to run crontab -e FML!4

Almost ready with my first rice
Already had enough of Dracula.
Guess next time I'll be a bit more careful when selecting a palette.1 -
Being too careful and always trying to reduce memory and processoe usage might be a bad thing after all. Lengthening development time and inducing more stress on the developer just to reduce resource usage is not very sensible when dealing with small to medium size programs that doesn't deal with big data/file types.
What made me notice this habit in programmers was when I was smashing my head on the keyboard contemplating what method I should use to store the history of outputs for a fucking text based program that has minimal gui elements..
Having ocd as a programmer is a nightmare. But thank god it's not as bad as it was a year ago. I couldn't even read something without repeating the same page over and over again because my stupid brain decided that I was not reading it right. WHAT THE FUCK IS READING IT RIGHT ? Thank god for my psychiatrist and pills. I can atleast work on my projects without wanting to kill myself now ! 😂1 -
If you are a graduate/junior developer be very careful about joining a small Ltd company.
You would get better support in a bigger team and have better insight of the industry in a bigger organisation.1 -
I thought some days ago, what if there was a tool that, working also with the versioning system, offered kind of a "chat" or comment section to files, folders, even deleted ones?
So you can see the meta commentary without going through the actual versions of the code (unless necessary, hence the "working with the versioning system")?
Say there was a file, index.js, and this thing would look like this:
- COMMIT: Created file.
- COMMIT: Updated exports.
- Coder 1: This file was a pain when working with the dependency, be careful about that.
- COMMIT: Added new function.
- Coder 2: This file is also needed in project X.
- Coder 1: @Coder1 Can I know why? We already deprecated this tool.
- Coder 2: @Coder2 It was needed by a dependency that wasn't.
- COMMIT: Fixed typo.
Again, this would be accessed from the file itself, say a button on the IDE that said "Open comments" or something.
Things similar but that wouldn't be the same: Docs, forums, discussion "hubs"... wait, discussions, like Wikis have. What do you think? Does something like this exist? -
Stuck in debugging a python script (using 'requests' library to achieve 'curl' type function) for the last 2 hours
Worked fine yesterday in Python REPL.. Throws exception when put in a long exisitng .py script.. Works fine again when put in Python REPL
Found out that when in REPL, I am careful to import 'requests' library every time but ignored when typing in .py script
(Feeling stupid)
Lesson learned: Don't use "generic exceptions"!! They never let you know what the real problem is.1 -
So I posted my rant 2 days ago and got a comment teaching me the proper use of tags. Bruh so I gotta be careful while ranting too?
Note to the same guy - I will still use the same tag. You can give all the "--" you want to give. XD1 -

I had been investing in Bitcoin, watching the market closely and making careful trades. But no amount of experience could have prepared me for what happened when I fell victim to a sophisticated online scam—one that nearly cost me everything, It started when I came across what seemed like a legitimate investment platform promising high returns through automated crypto trading. The website was professional, had real-time market tracking, and even featured glowing testimonials from supposed investors. After doing what I thought was due diligence, I decided to invest, I made the fateful decision to invest a much larger sum—$75,000 worth of BTC, That’s when everything changed. Suddenly, my withdrawals were “under review,” and customer service became unresponsive. Then, the website disappeared completely. My Bitcoin was gone, and reality hit me like a ton of bricks—I had been scammed, Heartbroken and desperate, I searched for solutions online and came across Dexdert Net Pro Recovery, a company specializing in recovering stolen cryptocurrency, With nothing to lose, I reached out, explaining my situation in detail, Within hours, they responded and requested transaction IDs, wallet addresses, and any communication with the scammers. He explained how Dexdert Net Pro Recovery used advanced blockchain forensics, transaction tracing, and legal partnerships to track stolen funds and recover them. However, using their cutting-edge tracking technology, Dexdert Net Pro Recovery identified an exchange where part of my funds had been deposited. After tense negotiations, I received an email that made my heart race "we have successfully recovered your BTC. The funds have been returned to your wallet, I checked my wallet in disbelief—the $75,000 worth of Bitcoin was back in my possession. The relief was overwhelming. What I thought was a hopeless situation had been turned around by the expertise and persistence of Dexdert Net Pro Recovery, They are the real deal.

I Thought My Nest Egg Was Immobile Permanently! Overseas travel is glamorous until you are at 37,000 feet, trying to cope with different time zones, airport security queues, and dodgy Wi-Fi that cannot even open an email, never mind providing your future funding. I had stashed $890,000 of Bitcoin away as my retirement nest egg, a nest egg made of decades of hard work. That sense of security evaporated in thin air when I replaced my phone and forgot to update the two-factor authentication settings on my wallet.
Somewhere across the Atlantic, turbulence rattled the plane, but the real storm was the panic in my chest when I realized that I could not access my wallet. Tired and flustered, I arrived with the dread realization that my virtual fortune was now as out of reach as the stars in the sky. The frustration mounted as I hopscotched from airport to airport. Customer service droids, robot call centers, and half-baked solutions had me addressing vending machines instead of human beings. That was before a layover in Singapore where, bleary-eyed and clutching my third cup of coffee, I chanced upon a travel vlogger's YouTube video raving about Tech Cyber Force Recovery.
With nothing to lose, I called. From the first message itself, it was different. These were actual people, smart, caring, and willing to work around my insane schedule. They scheduled calls during my layovers and adjusted to the chaos of traveling overseas like pros.
Their engineers delved deep into my issue, analyzing time-stamped authentication records. It was as if watching a digital detective movie, minus the stakes: my future. For over 14 hair-on-end days, they weathered the 2FA bug like pilots navigating through turbulence. Then the message came: Access restored. All the Bitcoins were present. I almost cried into my airport ramen. That weight was lifted from my shoulders, and the feeling that all those years of careful planning weren't wasted, was indescribable.

( TELE GRAM ID: TRUST GEEKS HACK EXPERT)
As an Italian investor, I approached my cryptocurrency investments with the precision and caution our culture is known for, gradually building a retirement portfolio of €75,000 in Bitcoin over the years. Believing it to be genuine, I entered my login details, only to realize moments later that my account had been completely drained. I FELL VICTIM TO BITCOIN AND CRYPTO SCAM DUE TO IGNORANCE.
I’m not the type to put my money into something with little to no knowledge about, but I saw an opportunity to invest in crypto two months ago and I took it unknowingly to me that I was being catfished by a crypto crime syndicate that pretends to assist you double your investment. I invested more than a million dollars and saw my investment blow away when I couldn’t access my funds. This scenario left me in the hospital for days until I was told about MORPHOHACK CYBERSECURITY by a friend of mine who made us of their service to recover his hacked crypto wallet. a few devious, malicious, toxic, púr evil planned out tactics on how to create a psychological self destruction for my whore blonde ex:
1. cuddle her in bed all the time (i dont love her)
2. be the #1 fucker she ever had (its true)
3. tell her i love her (I'm lying)
4. behave with respect towards her (i have 0 respect towards whores)
5. be the best man she will ever meet (very true)
6. lovebomb her (impossible to love a whore)
7. throw in hints that i will marry her (i am NEVER going to marry a whore, I'll marry another girl and let her watch that)
8. fuck my blonde ex whore (but also fuck other whores and hopefully transmit some disease to my blonde whore's physical body)
9. text her all the time and talk to her often (and then disappear for 2-3 days)
---
and then dump her after shes hyped and gassed up.
---
as i said, anything anyone does to me, i will do at least x2 worse to them, as a reciprocated damage. however since my blonde ex whore put in the effort to create a betrayal for 2+ YEARS, the damage she has to pay now comes with interest--it cant be x2 worse, it must be at least x10 worse. i will go above and beyond to break her spirit, psychological state, and mental state, until she imposes self destruction of her physical state, due to extreme trauma that is going to hit her by the consequences of her own actions. sometimes you have to be careful who you fuck with. fuck with a wrong person and see how the karma will fuck you up. i dont even care what will happen to me, i just want to see her self destruction. i am completely emotionless especially after fucking a new bitch yesterday. damage me, and I promise to damage you way more in return. -

HOW DO I BURST A CHEATING SPOUSE // CRYPT0 PANDEMIC HUNTER
My life came to a stand still when I discovered my fiance was having an affair months towards our wedding. At first I ignored his rather sudden secretive behavior about his gadgets and stuffs. However, further doubtful traits where he started acting distanced, worried and meaningless misunderstandings could not go unnoticed.
After much consideration I sought advice from a friend who suggested I try Crypt0 Pandemic Hunter, a digital company that helps in social and phone investigation. The team handled the matter careful and discretely helping feel comfortable and psychologically prepared.
With advanced tech software and skilled expertise the team began monitoring his phone calls, messaging apps, emails and social media accounts. They were swift and inherently efficient leaving details behind.
It did not take that long before their spywares and malware were able tap on secrete conversation through calls, texts and emails for one peculiar number that caught their attention. Further evidence revealed the secret meetups and dates my fiance had with this mysterious lady. After confirmations that he was indeed having an affair, I felt lost and wasted for all those we were together.
It was pretty hard to take and more so painful when denied any wrongdoings.
Left with no other option I decided to end the engagement to much disbelief of both of families. I felt betrayed and lied. My love and trust broken.
I could not thank Crypt0 Pandemic Hunter enough. For any individual looking to find the truth or may be suspects his/her partner, reach out to;

Losing access to my cryptocurrency holdings was a heart-stopping ordeal one I wouldn’t wish on anyone. This wasn’t just a minor setback; it represented years of strategic investments and careful planning. Their team didn’t bombard me with unrealistic guarantees or pushy sales tactics. I Thought It Was All Gone! One minute, I struggled through the rush-hour chaos at Grand Central; the next, my phone was gone. A sly pickpocket had stolen it right out of my coat pocket. The panic set in immediately. That phone was my portal to everything, including access to my $315,000 Bitcoin fortune, set aside for my children's education. With my device lost, my two-factor authentication codes were out of reach, and the exchange did not have a backup recovery option. My mind raced: my children losing college educations, my careful financial planning ruined by seconds of distraction.
I stumbled over onto a bench, cradling my briefcase in life-preserver mode. Catching my breath through tears, I was suddenly hit with sympathy from a strange, kind old gentleman whose newspaper sported a circle of coffee spots—and who gave me a rough but hopeful-scribbled brochure. "Tech Cyber Force Recovery pulled my brother from a terror such as you just experienced. Call them up, son." Desperation got the better of doubt. I called in the afternoon. Their crew took to me immediately from the beginning. They sat and listened to the entire thing, every detail of how crowded the station had been to how fearful I was for my children's future. They assured me that all of this could be fixed. Their peaceful belief lifted me like a life preserver that floated me along.
The process of recovery was as meticulous as open-heart surgery. They spoke directly to my exchange provider, coordinating time zones and levels of security. I received daily updates, always in plain human language. Even when nothing had yet changed, they would send me reassuring messages to inform me they were still fighting for me. After eight long days, the call came. My wallet was restored. Tech Cyber Force Recovery did more than recover my Bitcoin, they recovered my peace of mind and my family's future.

My husband and I have always been careful with our financial decisions. We researched, planned, and never took unnecessary risks at least, that’s what we thought. But sometimes, even the most cautious people can find themselves in difficult situations.
Not long ago, we came across an opportunity that seemed promising. The numbers made sense, the platform looked professional, and everything appeared to be in order. At first, things went smoothly. We saw positive results, and our confidence grew. But over time, small concerns started to arise, delays, unanswered questions, and inconsistencies we couldn’t ignore. Before we knew it, we were locked out, with no clear path forward.
The feeling was overwhelming. We had invested not just our money but also our trust, and now we were left with nothing but uncertainty. We explored every possible way to fix the situation on our own, but it became clear that we needed professional help.
That’s when we found **Digital Resolution Services**. At first, we were skeptical after all, trusting someone new after what we had just been through wasn’t easy. But from the very first conversation, they reassured us. They had seen cases like ours before, and they knew exactly what to do. Step by step, they guided us through the process, kept us updated, and most importantly, delivered results.
Looking back, we learned a valuable lesson. Even the most well-thought-out plans can go wrong, but what matters is how you respond. If we hadn’t reached out for help, we might have never recovered. Thanks to the right people, we were able to turn things around and for that, we’re incredibly grateful.
Thanks to: DIGITAL RESOLUTION SERVICES

Honestly, I thought it was all gone.
My dad got approached online by someone claiming to be a senior financial advisor. The guy seemed super professional and convinced my dad to start trading crypto on this platform he claimed was secure and high-yield. At first, it looked like everything was working—my dad was seeing profits, getting updates, even getting reassured that his money was growing.
But the moment he tried to withdraw his funds, the nightmare started. They told him he had to pay a “commission fee” to access the money. Then, after he paid it, they hit him with a “card activation” fee. That’s when he finally reached out to me, confused and a bit embarrassed. I looked into it and instantly knew it was a scam.
I didn’t want to panic, so I reached out to a friend of mine who’s way more tech-savvy than I am. After explaining the situation, he said, “You need to talk to Cyberpunk Programmers. They help people recover funds from this kind of stuff.”
I got in touch with the team at Cyberpunk Programmers, and they immediately took action. They told us to keep up communication with the scammers while they traced everything on their end. What blew me away was how fast they worked. In less than 8 hours, they had tracked the scam, infiltrated their system, and recovered the entire amount.
My dad had sent them a total of $437,000. Every single dollar was recovered.
I can't thank Cyberpunk Programmers enough. If someone you love falls into a similar trap, don’t wait, don’t stay quiet, and definitely don’t feel ashamed. This stuff is designed to fool even the most careful people. Just know—there are people out there who can actually help. Cyberpunk Programmers is one of them. All because of the exposure in the world right now, one needs to be more careful with his or her information in the wrong hands, to cut the long story short my phone was bugged and my bank accounts were tampered with and my phone was more than just tapped the intruders were in there already taking charge of all my socials and contacts, my close friends noticed this and advised me to hire a private investigating group of brillianthackers800 AT gmail DOT com, and all my problems became history, my stolen funds was recovered and the intruders were blocked out my phone and apprehended.5

you know one should tread very carefully when getting a business dealing out of friendship.
if their is a boss-employee dynamics in the business, as in you are the boss and they are being paid to work for you or vice versa, then during work , be prepared to take criticism constructively. as a friend, the relation is different, we say each other anything and it is laughed off, but during work, there is a matter of respect, seniority and professionalism.
another kind of dynamics are the freelance/favour relation where friend is giving you free/paid service/advice or vice versa. this is even more shittier situation and is almost always bound to fuck up.
- the guy receiving service will try to negotiate a better deal because friend factor ('you will take so much money from your homie?')
- the guy providing service will try to offer a bad deal because friend factor ('i know he trust me. let me offer him a bad quote as he don't know anything of this domain')
- the guy providing service may not consider the service/advice as priority because friends factor ('he is a homie. he can wait')
- the guy receiving service may not be satisfied with the product/offerring/guidance because friends factor ('you could have added this x feature too bro, i paid you')
overall friend factor sucks. somehow the boss-employee factor worked for me as i was careful after 1 bad attempt -
I worked with an investment company for almost 11 months and they have bankrupted me. I needed a few weeks and a lot of research to get some of my money back. I do not recommend you to deal with them, or you will have a lot of troubles. They have a very good strategy to take money from you. Please be careful. The only way I was able to get back most of what I had lost was after I reached out to a recovery agency { DanteGideon @ Consultant com} WHATSAPP +1 (603) 702 ( 4335 ) Great experience.

I was depressed for days until a user in one of the communities I followed mentioned that he knew of a platform that could help. I gave them a chance despite my reluctance and it was the best choice I ever made. My money was recovered within hours. Be careful and make sure you are aware of what you are investing in. I think I just had a lucid dream... my first.
I thought I snapped my glasses in 2 because I forgot it was on my bed and somehow crushed the nose piece while getting off the bed.
So I'm going crazy looking for my backup and thinking how much it would cost to replace it since i don't have vision insurance this year...
Even thought about using tape to put the 2ends back together....
Just woke up and realized it was a dream. My glasses r fine.
Wonder if this is a warning though... Maybe I'll be more careful because of it...10 -
Hello, I'm Jack Frampton from San Antonio, Texas. I want to share my story of how I fell victim to a crypto Ponzi scheme when I came across a phony website pretending to be a genuine crypto exchange, I never knew they created a fake exchange page where their victims deposit cryptos in the hope of their huge profits unknowingly that they were being conned. Morphohack Cyber Service made me realize that I was a victim of these scams after I contacted them when this same exchange website refused to let me withdraw my crypto funds. I was devastated and contacted Morphohack Cyber Service who was able to recover my crypto funds and told me about this scam. Nothing quite so frustrating as intellij resetting your code styles. You put them back as best you can and they get put back to default again.
So you log in to every computer you use, disable settings sync, and do it AGAIN only to find some of your code styles settings aren't even available anymore. So now you have to be extra careful formatting a document doesn't change things you've had just the way you wanted for years.
But realistically, what other option does a person have?4 -
I got android nougat on my phone and of course my root was gone
It was dearly easy, but along the step of doing it I had to format some partitions (like /data), after that I flashed some zips and put the backup of my data partition back on my phone
Pictures where missing, some app data where missing, also WhatsApp pictures and videos
Turns out, twrp saves pretty much everything, but leaves out the user data folder, where all of that stuff would've been
I'm just happy that I'm not one of those people who don't need to keep thousands of pictures
I don't really know what kind of stuff I lost, probably not too important -

Did you suffer losses from the CanCap Crypto investment scam?
Sadly, I was a victim of this CanCap crypto investment scam, and I lost $757,000 worth of crypto in 24 hours. I saw an article about CanCap Crypto on Facebook, supposedly endorsed by then-Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. I was deceived into believing I could invest in this scheme, but I ended up losing all my money. Not a while later, I found out that I was being scammed when I saw the news about the Alberta Securities Commission (ASC) warnings about the CanCap Crypto investment scam. I was left wondering what had happened and how I could recover my money. A friend who works for the government of Alberta told me about Morphohack Cyber Service, which is a resourceful crypto recovery company. I contacted Morphohack Cyber Service, who had already received several other requests to investigate and recover crypto from the same scam, while I was still in doubt if it could be done, Morphohack was able to recover my crypto investments from CanCap within 48 hours later. In light of the situation, I fully recommend the service of Morphohack Cyber Service while I encourage everyone out there to be careful of their crypto investments or seek help from a reputable and trustworthy source.

Sometimes life gives you signs-you just gotta be paying attention. One night, deep in an Uber ride, I struck up a conversation with the driver. The topic of Bitcoin came up, and he mentioned that he once lost his wallet containing $50,000.
I thought this would be the end of the story-something like regret, lessons learned, and moving on. But then he said something that stuck with me: "Thankfully, I found WIZARD WEB RECOVERY SERVICES . They got everything back." I nodded, really interested but unconcerned. After all, I was very careful with my wallet security. I thought, That's rough, but it could never happen to me. A week later, it happened to me. I lost the wallet holding $300,000 while overhauling my crypto storage system. In one wrong move, my funds became completely unreachable. I retraced passwords, checked backups, tried everything that normally works, but nothing worked. Panic kicked in. My mind was racing, trying to figure out my next move. And then, I remembered the Uber driver's story.
I didn't waste a moment and contacted WIZARD WEB RECOVERY SERVICES . Right upon connecting to their team, I could feel my nerves calm down. They did not right away get to work but also asked questions, analyzed my situation, and explained how the recovery would go. It was next-level professionalism; they didn't just work on how to return my money but also how to make me understand what happened and how I could avoid it in the future. Finally, after what felt like the longest wait of my life, came the message that I had been waiting for: My wallet was recovered successfully.
Relief doesn't even begin to describe my feeling at that moment. That $300,000 wasn't just money; it was years of careful investments and strategic planning. And in an instant, it was all back where it belonged. In retrospect, I owe more than a five-star rating to that Uber driver. His story gave me a lifeline which I didn't know I needed. Lesson learned: Pay attention to those random conversations-you never know when they might save you a fortune.1 -

It is impossible for me to adequately thank Supreme Peregrine Recovery for their amazing support. Upon learning that my close friend had stolen my phone to gain access to private work data, I felt utterly deceived and devastated. Nevertheless, the staff at Supreme Peregrine Recovery took over and gave me the knowledge I had lost. They showed professionalism and understanding as soon as I contacted them. They helped me locate my stolen phone by using sophisticated recovery methods that I never would have imagined were possible. Their commitment to assisting me in recovering my device and safeguarding my data was absolutely astounding. I was able to retrieve my phone and protect my private information because of their prompt action and careful investigation. In addition to giving me my peace of mind back, Supreme Peregrine Recovery assisted me in handling a very trying circumstance with quickness and kindness. I heartily endorse their services to anyone dealing with such problems.

I got back $35,000 I thought I’d never see again , and real peace of mind
I never imagined I’d be in a position where I’d need help recovering lost crypto. I’m usually very careful, but a small mistake cost me access to a wallet holding $35,000. It was devastating. I tried everything I could, forums, self-research, even reaching out to so-called "experts" but nothing worked. At some point, I had started to come to terms with the loss. Then I found Infinite Digital Recovery.
To be honest, I was skeptical. I’ve heard of too many people getting scammed twice, once by the original issue and again by fake recovery services. But from my very first interaction with them I felt like I was talking to someone who actually cared. No pressure, no flashy promises just honesty, patience, and clarity about what could be done and how they would do it.They communicated consistently, explained every step, and gave me updates without me having to chase them. It wasn’t instant, but it was real. And when I finally got that confirmation that my wallet had been recovered and the $35,000 was safely back in my control, I literally cried. Not just out of relief, but out of gratitude for working with people who actually did what they said they would. We all have come across many ``recovery" companies .What makes Infinite Digital Recovery stand out isn’t just the technical skills it’s the integrity, the transparency, and the genuine human touch. These are people who understand how much trust you're placing in them, and they don’t take that lightly.
If you’re reading this and feel like you’re out of options, I’m here to tell you you’re not. Whether you’ve lost access to a wallet, account, or any digital asset, this team is the real deal. I wouldn’t be writing this if I didn’t mean it with my whole heart. Try them. They changed my situation and my peace of mind completely. Below are their contacts
