Client: our app has low ratings, we fired our previous dev company and hiring you instead.
Us: all right, seems like to make a better app we need 5 months.
C: you're kidding, do it in 6 weeks.
U: Ok, but we'll have to drop some features.
C: get rid of X and Y, nobody uses them.
U: deal!
... 6 weeks later...
U: here's the new app: better graphics, easier to use, more stable and more future-proof.
C: Cool! Let's deploy!
... 2 days later...
C: we just released but the users are really pissed off!
U: what do they say?
C: "what the fuck happened with X and Y? they were the only thing we're using! what a load of crap! 1 star"
Dear client, next time get to know better your users...7 -
When I finished my studies, I was looking for a job and had an interview at a smallish company.
Boss: can you do C?
Me: yes, I have already done some stuff in C.
Boss: I mean, are you really good in C?
Me, growing suspicious: well yes I already have been using it - but anyway, there's also the project documentation for looking up, right?
Boss: uhm, the code IS the documentation.
I envisioned myself being drowned in undocumented spaghetti code and wasn't really keen on that job anymore, but my following question pretty much ended the interview:
Me: oh, I see. Do you have any roadmap for getting your development to a more professional base?
His looks, priceless! He was just shocked when he realised that he had failed my interview, and that I was a fresher made it even harder to digest for him.30 -
So, there's this big company in Poland with its name starting with C and having CEO famous for saying that every software developer can be replaced with a finite number of college students.
They recently lost a HUGE government contract and so stories of people working there came to light. My two personal favourites:
1. A tester who has been fired for finding too many bugs and mistakes in their product. He was also told that bugs are to be found by clients on production, not in-house.
2. A programmer who was yelled at by his team leader for "wasting time" on code reviews instead of typing the code. He was also told he hadn't been hired to criticise other people code.
God, I'm so grateful I don't work there.20 -
I have just landed my dream job. Coming from a background of java and python, I applied for a C++ heavy company... The interview process was centred on algorithms and I passed it. Now I get to learn the language I have always wanted to learn from pretty hardcore devs while I am getting paid. One of the best fucking days of the 21 years I have been alive for.3

So I got a call from a recruiter this morning, about a job for a C++ developer what experience developing for embedded systems.
He sent my resume off to the company and they actually want an in person interview the same day.
I'm going to this interview in 2 hours, I'm really nervous, I haven't had an interview in years...
Wish me luck!12 -
Got a LinkedIn message from a recruiter looking to know if I’m interested in a full stack developer role, to only work on front end. The requirement is that I know one of:
“go, node.js, rails, python, C# .NET, RoR etc”.
I wonder who it is that doesn’t have a clue, company or recruiter (or both?).
I’m actually going to reply to this one for fun to try figure out this mess (yes I’m that bored)19 -
So many developer that does not know how to generate a simple .csr file. Here you go:

Had a recruiter contact me at home on my day off.
Recruiter: We have a company that would be interested in hiring a C# developer because of your programming skillset.
Me: Does it involve ASP.NET?
Recruiter: Yes.
Me: I apologize, but I don't have any skills in ASP.NET. I've been instead focusing on building my skillset with Java Spring/Hibernate and soon JavaScript to start building front end skills with my backend skillset.
Recruiter: Oh, is Java an in demand skill that companies want?
....Why are you talking to me mate? Take off your headset, go home, and rethink your life choices.4 -
worst interview was about 2 years ago. I found this job as on a famous website, I applied for a desktop dev. position...the job seemed really easy, after 10 minutes the so-called CTO asked me:" how much do you know C hash?" me:"what?" him:"C hash...the Microsoft programming language" I thanked him for his time and went home crying ( he meant c# )...after a month I found out the company had gone bankrupt...I think I know why..8

Never thought I will be hired by Chinese software/hardware company located in NYC to code in languages I don't know so well. Instead of lying and saying I know everything about C, PHP and SQL, I said that I suck pretty much at everything, but I'm a quick learner and will study day and night to catch up with their practices. Now I see they have no regret about me, but I still suspect them in hiring me because there is another guy who is Russian too and we all communicate well. Our current squad is 17 Chinese, 2 Russians, 1 Americans. Guess what, I learn Mandarin quicker than PHP. Sometimes a small lie is OK, but sometimes honesty is better.3

I'm the leader of a team developing a project at my company. Recently I had an accident which required me to have a surgery, and I was out for the last month.
Since it's an important project, our CTO reassigned a Xamarin dev to help my team (in JEE) while I'm out, you know, cause "C# looks like Java". The guy had to write a file stream handler, and - though the guy does a really good job - it's funny to see how desperately he's trying to understand how Java works with streams. Censored because of reasons.

Senior manager: I cant understand how this project has taken so long?
Me: Well you hired me as a C# WPF developer and then asked me to deliver an android app without any kind of training so i had to teach myself app development and reverse engineer the undocumented protocol it needs to use to communicate with our product.
Senior manager: Ok. I get that, but it should only take around 3 months to get up to speed though right?
Me (to myself): how in the hell? New platform, self teaching, undocumented protocol for a complex low level real-time system, other responsibilities taking at least 50% of my time and i should be as productive as an outsourced app dev company in 3 months???!! FFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!3 -

After working 1 year as C# dev and no reaction of my current company to my claims:
I get a job with 25% more pay, christmas and vacation bonus und 5 more holidays!
Holy fuck that`s so cool.
Hope you guys have a good week!
Please excuse my english skills ;-)4 -
Recruiter: You cought my attention because of your positive profile. And my client is looking for someone with your profile. Attachment: java_developer.pdf
Me: What exactly did you like about my profile? I can tell by the filename that the company is looking for java developers. Which is neither what I can do nor what I am willing to do.
Recruiter: This isn't clear by your profile, what do you want to do?
Me: Me profile has exactly two programming languages, JavaScript and Objective C.9 -
After a long time just reading your posts, here's my first post:
Just for clarification: I'm studying electrical engineering in Germany. During your time at university, you have to work half a year as a intern to get some practical experience. So I'm in a position where I mainly have to say "yes" to work that is given to me. Also I'm working with a lot of PLC programmers, so I'm nearly the only one who programs non-PLC stuff at the department.
But now it's time for my rant (and also my most satisfying optimization ever). In the job interview for the internship, my task at the company was described as C# programmer. I only programmed C and Python before, but C# looked interesting and so I learned C# from ground up in the summer before the internship. I quite liked it and I was really happy on my first day of work. Then I was greeted with this message: "I know you are hired as C# programmer, but could you please look into this VBA program, it takes 55 seconds until it finishes its task and that's to slow". So I (midly angry because I had to do VBA and not C#) started the program and it was really horribly slow (it just created a table with certain contents from a very big imported symbol file). I then opened up the source code and immideately saw bad code. The guy who wrote it basically just clicked on the macro recording button and used the recorded mouse clicks in the source code. The code was like: Click on cell A1 -> copy cell A1 -> move to sheet XY -> click on cell A2 -> paste copied stuff and so on... I never 'programmed' in VBA before, so I used my knowledge of 'real' programming languages to do this task. After using some arrays and for-loops, which did not iterate over all the 1.000.000 unused cells after the last used one, the program took only 3 seconds after it finished the new table! Everybody was quite impressed, which led to much more VBA optimization... That was clearly not my goal haha :)9 -
Remember the super duper company I applied for? (Last rant)
Well, I did their coding challenge. And after many years I had to do a metric crapton of C++. It's not a fun language. It's frustrating how human-unfriendly it is, and maybe one reason why I low-key like it.
Anyways, here's hoping that I didn't fuck up too much.
On a side note, I realized tensorflow actually has a cpp api. I think I'm gonna work with that in my next mental breakdown. 🧐6 -
TLDR: Skills and background or dedication for becoming a good programmer?
So I almost finished the bootcamp on my company, there is only 2 people. Me and another guy who is from math major. He wanted to learn programming so he applied for the job. He doen’t know sql, any backend language, and not even html or css when he joined. The only thing he knew is for looping and if condition logic. He survived 1 months or so by learning a lot here. C#, .net mvc, sql, decent css and html. I believe he worked hard by learning it by himself. But the company he can’t continue anymore. I doesn’t know the reason but probably because he is seen as not good enough. Sure he is kinda slow when adding some feature to our small project but we need to find how to do it by ourself mostly. Now I’m alone with another few weeks to continue4 -
Phone-interview with a recuiter from a big consultning company.
Her: So, what programming languages are your strongest?
Me: That would be Java, as it's been used through university courses and privatley I've been making some C# projects
Her: Allright cool. What about object oriented languages?
Me:... Erhm.. That would again be Java and C#...4 -

Having to review an offshore C++ codebase made in Romania that the company I worked for they bought to control a wifi module on a complex RF mobile tech device that I can't legally give more details on.
If I could legally post this masterpiece, or should I say masterpiece-of-shit, all of you C++ dev would instantly get AIDS and all the existing types of cancer upon browsing it for 2 minutes.
It's laughably bad and unmaintainable. One of my colleague called it "the perfect example of human obfuscation" and it fits perfectly.
Think of a 100k LoC main function with nested loops and ifs with random sleep values, 1000 values of hardcoded 32 bits arrays declared globally in the first 10k lines for unknown reasons. Comments in Romanian mixed with english. Somehow, this shit works by some miracle.
The worst intern you can think of, while being piss drunk, could do better and it's no joke.5 -
EEEEEEEEEEEE Some fAcking languages!! Actually barfs while using this trashdump!
The gist: new job, position required adv C# knowledge (like f yea, one of my fav languages), we are working with RPA (using software robots to automate stuff), and we are using some new robot still in beta phase, but robot has its own prog lang.
The problem:
- this language is kind of like ASM (i think so, I'm venting here, it's ASM OK), with syntax that burns your eyes
- no function return values, but I can live with that, at least they have some sort of functions
- emojies for identifiers (like php's $var, but they only aim for shitty features so you use a heart.. ♥var)
- only jump and jumpif for control flow
- no foopin variable scopes at all (if you run multiple scripts at the same time they even share variables *pukes*)
- weird alt characters everywhere. define strings with regular quotes? nah let's be [some mental illness] and use prime quotes (‴ U+2034), and like ⟦ ⟧ for array indexing, but only sometimes!
- super slow interpreter, ex a regular loop to count to 10 (using jumps because yea no actual loops) takes more than 20 seconds to execute, approx 700ms to run 1 code row.
- it supports c# snippets (defined with these stupid characters: ⊂ ⊃) and I guess that's the only c# I get to write with this job :^}
- on top of that, outdated documentation, because yea it's beta, but so crappin tedious with this trail n error to check how every feature works
The question: why in the living fartfaces yolk would you even make a new language when it's so easy nowadays to embed compilers!?! the robot is apparently made in c#, so it should be no funcking problem at all to add a damn lua compiler or something. having a tcp api would even be easier got dammit!!! And what in the world made our company think this robot was a plausible choice?! Did they do a full fubbing analysis of the different software robots out there and accidentally sorted by ease of use in reverse order?? 'cause that's the only explanation i can imagine
Frillin stupid shitpile of a language!!! AAAAAHHH
see the attached screenshot of production code we've developed at the company for reference.
Disclaimer: I do not stand responsible for any eventual headaches or gauged eyes caused by the named image.
(for those interested, the robot is G1ANT.Robot, https://beta.g1ant.com/)

Did I ever tell you kids about the time I worked for a company that got a contract to develop an iOS application around some object detection software that had been developed by another team?
Company I was working for was a tiny software consultancy, and this was my first ever dev job (I’m at my second now 😅). Nobody at the company has experience building mobile applications but CEO decides that the app should be written in React Native because _he_ knows React Native.
During a meeting with the client, CEO jokes about how easy the ask is and says he could finish it in a weekend. Please note that Head of Engineering had already budgeted a quarter for the work. CEO says we can do it in a week! And moves up the deadline. And only assigns two engineers to project. I am not one of those engineers.
The two engineers that are put on it struggle. A lot. They can’t seem to get the object detection to work at all, and the code that’s already written is in Objective-C. I realize one of the issues is that the engineers on the project can’t read Objective-C because they have no experience with Objective-C or even C. I have experience with C, so I volunteer to take a look at it to try to see what’s going on.
Turns out the problem is that the models are trained on one type of image format and the iPhone camera takes images in a different format.
The end of the week comes, they do not succeed in figuring out the image conversion in React Native. There’s an in-person demo with the customers scheduled for the next Monday. CEO spends the weekend trying to build the app. Only succeeds in locking literally every other engineer out of the project.
They manage to negotiate a second chance where we deliver what we were supposed to deliver at the original schedule.
I spent the weekend looking up how to convert images and figure it would be a lot easier to interface with the Objective-C if we used Swift. Taught myself enough Swift over the weekend to feel dangerous. Spoke to Head of Engineering on Monday and proposed solution — start over in Swift. Volunteer to lead effort. Eventually convince them it’s a good idea (and really, what’s the worst that can happen? If this solves our main problem at the moment, that’s still more progress than the original team made)
Spend the next week working 16 hour days building out application. Meet requirements for next deadline. Save contract.
And that’s ONE of the stories of my first dev job that got me hired as a senior engineer despite only having 10 months of work experience in the industry.11 -
Android Studio Installation.
What is the fucking point of giving an option to install the software somewhere other than C drive when the installation fails if done so.
Fucking cunts, multi billion dollar company my ass. Go to hell you stupid fucks.15 -
Not a rant, just a tought:
I was thinking, how amazing is to work at software industry, I mean, is there any other field of work where you can start without knowing little to nothing of the thing you are going to work with?
Got hired to work with a friend of mine in his uncle's company, started as a technician, providing support to clients, after that, started coding little windows applications using c#, even tought, I didn't know shit about it, time passed and we needed a mobile application, then when I realized I was already coding for Android in Java even though I didn't know nothing about it too.
It's just, you can do whatever you want if you will... It's amazing! I love doing what I do. -

I once wrote a room planning application on unity, to allow people in my company to book meetings using tablets attached to the room doors.
Turns out the c# Datetime object unity uses was highly localized and therefore had a different formats on each different device.
I saved those timestamps into a SQL database and eventually all devices crashed due to having some Datetime format they could not parse.
Had to fully bypass the datetime and reinvent it essentially and had to reset the database.
I think it's needless to say I'm not particularly good in dating.4 -
Boss left. Now I'm the only c# developer left to maintain 137 projects at this company. I woke up to a flood of emails with 3 requests and 2 applications breaking because he was a shitty programmer and didn't understand layering and design patterns and unit testing. Fucking dear God help.10

"Disregard what you're doing now. We need a FUNCTIONAL prototype (which will become the main app because refactoring is a waste of time huehuehuehue) with these features our POSSIBLE client MIGHT potentially need for TOMORROW's presentation."

I'm a junior programmer at a small company with mostly web dev. I had a C# project and before the deadline I granted access to the project repository one of my boss/senior coder. Several hours later I got an email with the whole project zipped and a note: I made some modifications, check it out.
Why someone doesn't want to use some kind of version control system?1 -

Caller: I'll just run through the situation. I got locked out of my apartment and my friend is still inside. I tried calling him but his phone is either off, Do Not Disturb, or something. Anyway, I've tried remotely SSHing our desktop computer from my laptop and using the say command to get the computer to tell him to unlock the door. Unfortunately the volume is too low. Wtf is going on with developers these days?
I just applied for a job (through some online job thing) for the holidays and they had questions like "Do you have relatives working for our company?" and I'm like noooo. So when I wanted to submit the form the field of my relatives name working for the company was marked with a notice "pls fill me in". And that was not the only field behaving like that. There were like 10 of them.
So now I wanted to install mono develop to learn some c# and gui development and they give me this

Sometimes, being the only fullstack dev with access to a lot of systems gives you the ability to introduce functionality that:
A) prevents future errors
B) introduces new validations to users to make sure A) is prevented.
C) apply these changes to different projects
But most importantly...
D) without a single person in management getting involved or having to sign it off.
It's like running a company you own, but without owning it.
Granted with such power, comes the trust and responsibility of deploying changes with the adequate testing being done prior and handling change management, but fuck, sometimes I wonder if "god mode" for lack of a better term, is too much, or just enough to get the job done without the politics.7 -

!rant I’ve been with the same company for 6 years, but the past few years things have been continually declining. Nothing has been awful, I just feel like there is very little room for promotion, or even worse, knowledge gains (we do a lot of win forms, c# mvc, vb6, sql stored procs). I’ve been so desperate to learn “new stuff” that I’ve been picking up contract work where I can find it (for nights and weekend projects). I’m excited to say that the company I’ve been doing most of my contract work with has offered me a full time remote position! It’s a 30% increase in pay, all new tech (mostly React Native, ReactJS, GraphQL, Nodejs, python, and integration with existing .Net applications)!
Feel honored DevRant, I’m telling all of you before I even share the news with my family (with the exception of my wife)!1 -

One day I came to a recruitment office 30min travel time.. and in the conversation it was me who talked about 30 minutes that recruiters don't understand the difference between javascript and C++. .. they asked me If I knew MySql.. for a backend job..

Lels
Before I was unceremoniously laid off by a shit company in which they tried to blame shit on me I was working on a opencv implementation of a proprietary document scanner.
I finished the Android prototype and was working on the ios implementation. It was left unfinished in the ios version because I was building it in swift and obj c to compare code bases.
They launched a shit unfinished Android app of their product without the scanner (they could not add the scanner lels) and have not been able to do shit on the ios version.
I did not give them the Android prototype. There was no binding contract that specified that what I developed was theirs. There is no record of anything.
The scanner? Is still in my phone and I still have the built project in my mac.
Unless them cheap assholes decide to pay another engineer for the opencv implementation, their vbscript php non theory knowing shit lead will have to figure out the required mat obj c swift java cpp code needed to build it.

So the incompetence of this knob-head are unbelievable, so in our company there's a particular method that required to return object specific way like
{
'a' : 'b',
{
'c' : 'd',
'e' : 0,
}
};

which somehow will be use everywhere in the project, I decided to create a constant class therefore anyone can use it and prevent redundant code. (re write the same thing over and over again). He decided to tell me to rewrite the same method for every-time I needed to return data.
My method is to avoid writing the same thing in repetition , that is why I place a method in a constant class where I call every-time I need to return those data in the specific way.
But he prefer writing it in repetition. OMG13 -
My current situation:
Manager: How is Project A coming? Project A is top priority. I would like to see a PR today with fixes to the current tickets.
Me: Project A is priority! Sure!
*after 2hours*
Manager: How is project B coming along? I did not see any PR’s coming in?
Me: I am working on project A as it is priority.
*after 1 hour*
Manager: How is project C coming? There is one ticket pending. We need a fix for it today asap!
Me: Starts project C as project A would take more time. Starts Work on project C.
*after 1 hour*
Boss: How is project A coming? Where is the PR?
Me: As you said you need a fix for project C today, i started working on project C as it has only 1 ticket to be fixed.
Boss: I told you project A is priority, why are you working on project C?
Me: *doesn’t reply*
*after 1 hour*
Boss: There is a ticket pending in project D. Did you make a fix for it?
*This is my usual day at work.
*I am the only developer in my current company. It’s not a software development company.
*Note: I do complete all the work and create PR’s for all “pending” work at the end of the day for all projects and leave for home at around 10pm :)
What do you think? Lol6 -
There was one time i went to Python dev position. HR company test was first of process and test was all about dotNet and C#, plus VBScript. I sat there until the finish time, did nothing.

It's 28°C and the fucking (2015)macbook's metal body is running at atleast 70, burning my legs and making the inside temperature even worse ..
And Im only running Idea and Chrome...
Why have you designed a hellish tool like this instead of a normal laptop? What good is it to me that It's so slim and mobile if I have to have it on a table to avoid having 2nd degree burns on a daily basis?!
Seriously, what the fuck... I didn't ask for this shit, but my company requires me to use this "secure" laptop... Fuck everyone that was involved in this laptops design!!!7 -

This happen to me once when I was a young kid walking home from school.
There were two other guys with me, older than me. They were talking to each other about programming languages. I have been programming from a very young age so I knew a lot about programming and I knew a few languages back then, but they were taking about Java, a language which I wasn't into yet back then, so I just listened for a while to what they had to say.
The first guy told the other, "You know I'm great at Java." The other guy responded "I can do anything in Java." Then I said as a joke "Oh, can you do hello world?". The guy said "Hello what? What do you mean?" The other guy said. "Is that a retro game?" I just laughed. Then I told them to go learn how to output text in Java.
A bit of current history about these guys:
The first now works in C# for a quiz test company, he never learned Java or languages other than C#. The second one owns and works at a scrapyard. They are both great guys, but they like to brag.3 -
Some people in the company (3000+ people) didn't know how to use static variables (c#) in a thread-safe manner which resulted in production problems.
Only possible way to solve this in management's mind?:
Disable the usage of not read-only static variables via quality control...1 -
Had a couple occasions to feel like a badass, recently.
I'm the only programming polyglot on the team. They've been wrestling with an encryption problem. I crack open C, make a few calls to wincrypt (yes, I'm sorry, we're a Windows company) and give them a dll they can call in their IDE. They were stunned by how fast it was.
Last week, my manager asked if I could put together a communications module for our flagship software.
Him: will 3 months be enough time?
On Monday, I had an alpha of the module ready, and a standalone simulator of the module, and a couple different examples of how to communicate with it written out in python.2 -
WTF IS SUPPORT FOR?
A: Can you help fix X?
B: Can you help Y?
C: I see Z just crashes, fix it.
Me (in my mind): Can you tell me WTF is the actual problem and what investigation you have done?
Why the fuck are we paying you monkeys?
My company should just pay me all your salaries, and I will write a monitoring system to send out these types of "alerts" in a month.4 -
Ya sure 0-2 yes experience with all those requirements + 5 more items hidden cuz of my tiny screen.
What is even more interesting they would like that person to know Swift UI.... It's not even out of beta ....
Also must know C#? For real... Those people do xamarine and native projects and they r not even a software company, they sepcialize in architecture
I hate it when people do this, like take the best at lowest price, that poor Dev is busting his ass to get your job done and you take the profit and give him the remaining change?
Hope this world doesn't get worse than it is....
By the way, job is for Full stack iOS developer 🙄

Usually developers start in a team where there are senior and you are a junior who do things and ask things.
Then there's me that starts alone in a company to develop a software in a machine that you've never seen before (POS) with only 15 hours of preparation class, no documentation and with a apprenticeship contract.
I still didn't start but I brought the POS in my home to familiarize with it and in a week I still haven't be able to execute the sample application.
And you could ask, why did you accept if you aren't able? Well, I need money, he searched me through the high school (I had an high score so a lot of people search me) and he required only C, that I know. FML12 -
!Rant
Had the best day at work today.
This summer I got to do a little work at the company my dad works. (typically cleaning and updating some machines. Stuff that the others don't have time for. Pretty boring)
Suddenly I get asked
"Have you ever developed for windows?"
I have only worked with Linux or Mac/ios (python and swift) so I told him I hadn't , but I could try.
Next thing I am making a system check program in c# (had to learn it on the fly) and I get paid to do it! I GOT FUCKING PAID TO PROGRAM! I don't have any education or whatsoever (only 17years old) but I got paid to do what I love😍😍😍
I am so excited to go to work tomorrow!1 -
So today I passed my C# exam with more than 900 points (out of 1000) which I had to do for my company. They really appreciate that I got such a score that I got this really expensive bottle of champagne!
Man, I love this company already. It only has been 2 weeks I'm working there..6 -
Hey this is the first time i post here.
I just started working part-time for this company last week. What i have to do is to change some windows from Win32 to WPF. As i was reading the legacy code i just had to sigh man. They have like 100 projects in a single solution, from C++ to C#, everything acctached to each other, with almost NO comments or docs. Wtf man? I don't know how it actually works in the industry (this is my first dev job) but when you write fucking 20 classes with each one contains bunch of attributes, methods, properties, you can't just leave all the code's semantics in their names. And by the way the app is so fucking ugly i bet they have appointed part-time developers as UX engineers... Even i have little knowledge about UX/UI, i just can't bear with this kind of ugly and confusing and unintuitive production with a cost of a good photo editting software.
Ok there may be much more to rant in the future but let me try through this and tell you more. Have a good day. :)5 -
Which of the following can successfully lead a company for digital transformation?
A) CEO
B) CTO
C) Covid19
2 -
My last company had a code base originating in the 90's and they still write most parts of the GUI with a library that is a thin layer on top of Win32 API, with a self-rolled "ORM" for DB access (with LOTS of enums) and all that with >2million lines of C++ code. The code includes at least two implementations of std vector and std:list. One of which is even *named* std::vector. Feels good remembering that I have left that behind2

Seriously what's wrong with the market right now, this is basically what some job ads said. They were even from the same company
Frontend job ad: are you a rainbow rockstar developer who just loves to code OwO(unpaid overtime) [buzzwords...]
Embedded systems job ad:
Serious job description
Required experience in c/c++
Other non bs stuff8 -
Contex: Working on a c++ frankenstein code (mixture of legacy and new stuff whith things depending on the client using it)
User Story: Migration from oracle to SQLite for half of the DB data
Summoner: One client wants to keep using legacy for now, therefore we need an strategy chooser templated singleton...
Satan 666 = Singletons + Static methods + Different compilation units
Result: 3/4 of the files of the full backend being modified for the migration.
Conclusion: When will be loaded on production company will probably lose many clients due to unspected bugs everywhere.

Need a phone upgrade. So now the question is, do I want the $1000 version of the phone I am already using but from a hipster fruit based company or do I want a Korean phone that, given their recent track record, will have a battery that vibrates at the exact frequency that cause wasps to attack the user's testicles?
Oh and it should probably be a thing I can make apps for but doesn't require I learn the thing that pretends it isn't Objective-C.8 -
I'm a .Net developer from Morocco, i'm currently working on an accounting software for this fucking company owned by an American boss. And i'm handling every single aspect of the project including the back-end (C#), Database (Sql Server), Reports (crystal reports, ABAP, VSTO), and design (UI, logos, animation...). For a salary of 300 USD/month, with no insurance, no transportation fees, and no fuck given about my health or my coworkers'. Not mentioning the shitty working hours and condition.
This is my first (job)9 -
Remember my first day at my job post from almost 2 weeks ago?
I have to say that I've built great connections in the company even though I'm introverted and am like bro-ey and joke-ey with everyone there.
All the package unboxing, sorting, cutting and moving made me more fit. I'm nonstop moving the whole day from point A to point B to point C etc. I even got a smart watch to accurately track my amount of steps (+25-33% more steps than Samsung Health in my experience). I'm at 11,000 steps everyday on average and I want to push this further.
Remember that Daniel? We've become great coworkers after the initial heat (we kept giving each other orders) and are having a breakfast with the department we are temporarily in.
We also get to leave the company 1 hour earlier because we are done with all of today's work. The department chief and the company chief are impressed.6 -
So I got approached by a recruiter... not from a recruitment consultant company, but from the company offering the position - which is a refreshing change. Now I have a dilemma....
On the other hand I’m really interested in their offer since the way they approached me by basically saying ”noticed you can do F# and we need F# devs” - so I have a chance at getting a job programming with the language I really like. And these opportunities don’t come around often, since F# isn’t really widely used anywhere it seems.
The caveat is, I really really enjoy working where I’m at now, even tho I mostly work with PHP (with the occasional Vue, C# and F# thrown in), but the atmosphere is unparalelled, my colleagues and my manager are the best, and the benefits are better than most companies can offer - so I’m a bit reluctant to change employer, especially since I have personally interesting projects coming up soon on the roadmap.
What should I do if the details for the offer I get are worth considering?17 -
Another day, another company that doesn’t live up to its own hype.
This time interviewing for a company that only want people who are willing to start with the language they currently know but learn other programming languages and not shy away from new things.
Brilliant, I’m up for that. I love learning and want to be at a place that values learning. I’ve got 20+ years of experience and I’ve learnt all sorts in that time to stay relevant. Currently I’m a c# dev, but I’ve worked on projects using JavaScript & Typescript, Angular, React etc. Done front end and back end, taught myself mongo and architecture. Point is that I have a proven track record of learning.
To cut a long story short, they give me a .net test. Nothing special about it. I have a 4 hour chat. And a week later I’m rejected because I don’t do Python. WTF?!
I thought this place was all about allowing people to learn if they were willing, not about what they know right now. I’m calling bullshit.7 -
I have to create python parser (3.6) using code provided by client (2.7), that they used in their company, and it is full of crap like:
if a==1:
if not b:
c = [1,2,3]
if a==2:
if not b:
c = [1,2,3]
if b:
c = [1,2,4]
Or:
text = ""
for i in something:
text += "real text " + some_string + " \n"
text += "another line " + some_string + " \n"
text += "and another " + some_string + " \n"
text += "and so on " + some_string + " \n"
... (many lines instead of one appended text block)
Of course above variable names are just for shortening code, but there are variables like oo, ooo, var_ or var__... cause you know, PEP8 does not exist.7 -

A post today made me think about this interview I had about a year ago... I shall tell you all about it.
Went to a hiring event for this company everyone was cool but this one guy (who would have been my boss) was a total arrogant, douchey, know it all.
So anyways cue interviewing with him a week later. He says if I give you task A, B, C and they need to be done by the end of the week in which order do you do them. (Note: he literally said abc not actual tasks)
Me: I don't really know how to answer that question without more information.
Him: Well I like to see how people answer it... So think about it for a second.
Me: Ok I guess if doing one task would help me do the next task faster I would do it in that order. Like I can use code or concepts from C to do B faster.
Him: What if A would take 2 days and B and C would take 1 day.
Me: I don't see how that would influence the order I do them in.
Him: Would you complete one task after another or switch between them or do see simultaneously.
Me: It would depend on my previous answer and what would be the fastest way to get them done but without more info I literally cannot give you an answer of like I would do B, C, A.
Him: Would you do the longest task first or the shorter tasks.
Me: I don't know I guess it depends on if it would help you or somebody else move forward with something if I got a particular task or the shorter tasks done first.
So cue more of this kind of back and forth about arbitrary details about undefined theoretical tasks for like 10 minutes.
Suffice is to say I didn't get the job and I'm glad.7 -
Any embedded systems software engineers out there with practical experience in writing/designing safety critical applications? (think DO-178B/C) I've got a few years embedded experience under my belt between internships, my projects, and now my relatively new job at a major aviation company, but I feel like I'm behind on this topic of safety and code that can't fail. It's simply not taught and I really want to learn more. Partially it is out of personal pride because I want to make a great product, but more importantly, what I work on is protecting a human life. I really really really want to feel confident in what I build. Is there anyone out there who's got some years under their belt that can point me to some good references? Or maybe some helpful tips? Much appreciated. If it helps, all my work is in C.10

Back on dev rant, been a while. Been two Jobs later...
Was extremely underpaid at the previous job.
Started a new venture two weeks ago. Long story short this company outsources their developers to other companies. The job I applied for is 'Junior Developer'. JUNIOR DEVELOPER!!!
Yet I'm being outsourced as an 'Intermediate Developer'.
Honestly I like the challenge, but businesses need to treat their employee's properly and not manipulate their young developers so they can get more money for cheap.
Really now, I've been dealing with this everywhere I go and it pisses me off.
On top of that I have no Senior Developer. I am the only developer. The other six, including my boss, are DBA's and don't know C#1 -
Lately I stopped being angry at work, maybe because I am already in a “notice mindset”. Tomorrow after my job I have a meeting in another company and I should get an offer for another job. Leaving web development to do some C hardware development.
Otherwise tomorrow I will write the biggest rant ever or I will cry or maybe both.6 -
I'm an iOS developer, but I also write Java code at work for our servers. I'm pretty appreciative of multiple technologies / implementations, and don't really participate in religious wars. 99.9% of people at my job are hardcore Java server developers who worship the JVM and hate everything else. I work primarily in objective-c and swift. Hearing them bash Apple as a horrible company (while using a Mac btw) and hailing Java as the greatest language since sliced bread, gets pretty fucking annoying after 2 years. So I decide to participate in their flame wars for once, do some digging, and come across this: https://cs.gmu.edu/~sean/stuff/.... They could not nor would believe the post, because the fact that their precious Java could have borrowed at all from the "terrible" Objective-C / Smalltalk paradigm was too much to bear. Talk about close-minded..1

I'm a fullstack engineer, this period there is literally nothing to do, we are a 1000+ employees company.
I got so bored I toke over the database of our production server two times in a week, exploiting dumb vulnerabilities I discovered out of boredom, of course I reported everything.
The funny thing is that they just don't care, no one took action or is willing to fix it and they actually insulted me because I set a query in sleep for 8 minutes exploiting one of the vulnerabilities.
I work for a great company that hosts (in this very server) most italian citizens informations C: free to take for everyone c:5 -
Biggest lesson learned for me was believing some guy wearing a comb over & a fake tan who sounds like a car salesman. He claimed selling web app services to companies was no different than selling cars. It turns out that a lot of investors were not too happy that the company went under (b4 anything was released) b/c the CEO/CFO somehow managed to burn several million dollars on first class flights, cruises, 5 star restaurants, a luxury company car (for himself), hotels, etc.,. oh and even some fake tans!
Worst part about all that he wasn't even worth sueing because he had no money after all that. He even signed the 'company' car over to one of his kids!3 -
A few years ago I had a Minecraft server and wanted to create my own plugins for it. I failed, but never stopped trying.
Did an internship at a software development company and got an Arduino as a gift; I was hooked - controlling stuff and seeing that stuff happens because of my code? Count me in!
Took classes in school that teach me coding and databases. I also taught myself a bit of C#, Java, C++ and PHP.
5 years and 3 internships later, I'm finally starting my paid training for the job as a programmer next year at the company that gave me the Arduino.
Gaming is what got me into coding, and I couldn't be happier. :) -
Company had problematic client projects that each client has a bucket load of change requests. Company doesn't know how to say "No" to them. Company can't afford to pay the subvendors for the changes and the subvendors aren't willing to do them for free.
I went in, reverse engineer the shit out of each application, database, system, documented my own findings, changed according to each client request. This involves editing tables in MSSQL, rerouting PHP files, adding field and validations in C#, passing parameters in VB to Crystal Report, and managed every change request into my own personalize ticket system (that the company does not have).
Saved the company, everyone was grateful. A couple of months later, the company hasn't paid my salary on time, I left like a boss.
They're in shit again and need my help. Haha! -
Recruiter emailed regarding a fin tech company that is “utilising some very modern technologies such as Scala, Java, C++...”
I was feeling kind so I actually replied (very politely as well) to suggest he change his wording slightly. -
I hate those mother fucking, Cock sucking, dick farting retarded faggots, who get the opportunity of a new job/internship just because they have a certain "relative" in the said company/organisation.
I mean its ok that you are getting an opportunity, but just don't act all-knowing-god-tier while you don't even know how to print a statement in c++ and got it.
How many more relationships should I increase of mine so that I get into the same position like them.
One of my friends got the internship just because his girlfriend's brother works for the firm.
Now that's just super barbaric unless he gave a blowjob to the gf's brother.
Their Fucking assholes need to be drilled by a giant pile drivers.5 -
So, I joined a hardware company as a software developer few months back. I'm working on a c++ code base with thousands of files and no idea what the code is supposed to do.
I got one overview of what the product is supposed to do, which contains mostly electrical engineering jargon that I have no clue about.
Now my manager wants me fix a bug in this code. I have no clue what the expected behaviour is and no documentation whatsoever, and literally no one in the entire country who understands the code.4 -
I decided i wanna, so i learned C, then i realized OOP was a thing so i had some fun with Java and Android, then i realized Web was useful, and easier to make actual products so i had an affair with RoR, but it was confusing AF, then i got a job where i have to work mainly with Python and Django, but frontend was PITA and i hated it.
In the end, since im only dev at the company and had to do it i started to like it (stockholm syndrom much) and now Im Javascript dev trying to move our stack to Node...
No regrets! -
I'm reluctantly in charge of my company... for now. Trying to avoid any of those fancy, personally cringe-worthy, titles like owner, boss, acronyms starting with a C.
My solution, suits our unique branding, is having my role as:
DragonOverlord
Any arguments as to it actually being a position are quickly thwarted, as it's obviously a class.19 -

I learned coding the best way: While getting paid. I was an Excel junkie (still consider myself as one) and a colleague taught me PHP. This gave me the skills to apply for real programming jobs. Eventually I was hired at a company as a PHP developer who would need to be flexible enough to transition into a C# developer within the next 6 months. It wasn't easy, but after about 8 months and a 1-week course later I was programming in C# .NET with grace. Not looking back at PHP now at all. Naturally, today I can apply for a whole bunch of different jobs that I definitely could not three years ago.
I have the dearth of good programmers to thank for this of course and I am grateful every moment when I understand how lucky I've been. -
+1 if you are interested in Augmented Reality technologies, have some presentations and assignments made and you are writing your Master thesis for Augmented Reality only to find yourself working for a company that wants from you to update somehow a project with 5 years old code written from some secret antisocial society that hates readability and you as a developer and a human being and wants from you to somehow understand why they call C# method only to return a string that contains all the html tags but no data and then insert the data in JavaScript splitting the same string.
Come on, give me a break! I m still trying, though I still haven't found where exactly the program learns the data to insert or it just knows (no questions asked)...6 -
I am a college student that's pursuing a degree in Computer Science. Once one of my classmates said that she had a 3 GB pen drive. I was curious as I'd never heard of any company making pen drives in that capacity. I asked her to show it to me, she showed it to me and pointed out the words "USB 3.0".
The same woman once copied the icon of Turbo C++ for an assignment submission.2 -
When I was an apprentice in a small company, ...
my boss told me that his company would never ship release builds, because the "evil optimization option" is responsible for breaking his code.
My first thought was that it wouldn't make any sense at all. The default option for code optimization is always set to zero.
After investigating his code, I found out that he didn't care to properly initialize his variables. The default compiler option for debug builds did implicitly initialize all variables to zero. After that I've confronted him with the fact that implicit null initialization does not conform to the standard of C and C++. He didn't believe me what I was saying and he was questioning my knowledge about C and C++. He refused to fix his code to this day, so he keeps building his libraries and applications always in debug mode.
Bonus fact: He would never build 64-bit applications, because his serialization functions do get incompatible with exisiting file formats. -

So an employee sent a nice email saying she is leaving the company and this is her last day.
Then for the next three days I get reply-to-all emails saying “nice to work with you”, etc.
A. Why the fuck reply to all, I don’t care
B. Her last day was two days ago, wtf? Why are you replying?
C. Person leaving send that shit bcc. Though perhaps this was their final, `fuck you` to us all!
Just a whole pile of idiots.1 -
I feel like Job Listings for programmers are just copied and pasted at random. "5+ years experience with C++" seems a little extreme for a company that makes landing pages and sends out email blasts.

Last month my company said that there's a mediclaim policy to include your parents in it too, and it was a mere amount of money. So I added it to my policy. This month, two days back, I saw that the money has increased 10x and is now more than half the amount of my monthly salary. Like what the hell? Now when I want to unenroll from this, I contacted all the responsible people in the company and they said that it cannot be done. Once enrolled, you can't ever opt out unless you leave the company. :") FKN SCAM.7

My company ex-IT Maintainer, left a long automation script in c++, bit of python 2, and bash for our server which developed long before i went to junior high school. and now, the system is outdated, and have a compability problems. so i got task to give it a fix.
when i opened the source code up. i was like; holy shit who the hell write a code especially c++ all aligned to the left, Yes All of it, not a single line are indented. but in the other side the code seems maintainable, and after autoformat, autoindent and couple of fix later, it was readable. I am just wondering who the hell in the world write a code with a style like that ???? i knew he was aware of code style and indentation since he wrote couple of python scripts. Unbelievable.
sadly i cannot show you the pict cuz of company things. -
I started working my new job as a programmer(c#, java, etc.) in a very good programming company.
My first task was to optimise their DB. The DB has indexes and around 3mil rows. The db is slowwww as fuck.
So i made a windows service that reorganises indexes (Depending on blank pages and fragmentation of the index) in DB each week on time.
But as soon as new rows start to come in, the fragmentation of the indexes just sky rocket.
I tried with changing idexes so there will accually be onli indexes we need.
Can anyone help me how can i fix fragmentation problem so the select querries will be much faster.
Sorry if I don't know the solution, I'm new at this task.
Thank you!7 -
It is great feeling, to leave company and leave all your crap code to others :D
500 lines bash generic wrapper to curl (just to catch and print errors, not just silently fail as most devs tell curl to do).
It was monster that used "function overload" and "subclasses" (based on dynamic source files). Also dynamically created inline AWK script to parse curl output. It kinda worked, but amount of high-level hacks I had to use was enormous.
Never use Bash when you do not have to. Even if you have experience with it. Others don't have it and will fail miserably trying to patch your code. Just leave bash for fast bridging between programs, leave python/java/c#/go or any other proper OOP language for a job. Please ? -

A little story which happened my SECOND day on the floor after getting hired to do customer-facing phone support for my current job (can't mention the name, NDA). Customer from Detroit calls in:
Me: "Thank you for calling (company), my name is Guru, how can I assist you?"
C: "Uhhh, yeah. I need to get back into my ID. I can't backup my tablet or phone, and y'all are kinda holding my data host-" <Loud gunshots>
C: "oh! Shit!" <sound of running feet>
Me: "Everything OK sir?"
C: "Fuck! Naw! Hang on!" <more running, jumps a fence, skids to a stop>
C: "Ok, I'm safe, I'm safe... So what I gotta do to get y'all to let me back into my shit?"
*MUTE* Me: "First of all, what the fuck are you doing on the phone with me when you should be either A) calling the cops because, I dunno, just maybe some trouser stain is attempting to kill you, or, B) FIRING BACK, MOTHERFUCKER!!"
*REAL* Me: "OK, first you gotta… (outlines step 1,2,3... etc)
C: "OK, that sounds easy enough. I'll try it when I get to the office, I'm on my way there now- shit. Hold on again..."
(talking to someone on the street): "what, him? That dude? Over there? That dude... In the shirt? What the fuck!? Are you sure? Hold on, sir! I'ma call you back..."
Last thing I hear before the line lets go is a large BOOM!
Sometimes it's best to just sit back and sip your coffee...6 -
Working for unappreciative fucktard clients who believe they know more about dev than a seasoned professional and try to give me advise on how to approach my work and or solve programming issues. FUCK Sake if you know it then don't hire me you fucktard client.
My best experience is working for a small company and bridging their disconnected systems together using an array of programming languages such as Go, PHP, VB, Batch Script, Javascript and C -
Job post I saw today. They are either looking for:
- C/C# Dev to the company
- HAPPY Frontend dev
- Java Dev to the company
Well now.. only the front end gets to be happy but doesn't know where to work while the other two can be grumpy and know they'll work at the company? 🤔

Do we have any C# devs who have switched to Scala?
I've got a very sweet job offer... at a company that develops in Scala. On the one hand, I'm pretty pleased with my depth of C# knowledge, for a variety of reasons. And I've been targeting .Net shops in my job search.
They know Scala devs are rare, so they are aware they need to train new employees, which is nice. But I don't have strong opinions yet on whether this is a language I want to pivot to.
Does anyone have any thoughts/opinions/experiences?6 -
Finally done with school. It were three years of ups and downs.
The downs were plenty and mostly in the way school material was organized.
We've spend years learning web development where the course should have been more broad (application development)
So by the time my first internship period of half a year approached I searched for a company outside of web development and ended up at a company which did serious games using unity C#. Those were the best months of my 3 years. I managed to push the company into a direction for a future even though it was reletively small.
After that I took up .net and got the MTA C# Fundamentals certificate from microsoft itself. (School offered the exam).
Then there was the 2nd internship.
Worked for a company who sold intranets to other enterprises and I developed a mobile app which connected a user's phone to their account on their intranet. Allowing to seperate work and their private life.
That project was fun but the company itself was terrible. 4 people at the office and the owner treated us as objects rather than people. The company was too small for such an environment and most of them were irritated 9 times out of 10. Glad to be rid of them.
Now I'm in the process of looking for a job and have a meeting with a recruiter tomorrow
Wish me luck.4 -
Out of the frying pan, into the fire:
So in my first job, I thought it's just us operating so crazy: meddling with arcane C/C++ code from the 80's, shooting our code to production without testing, fixing hundred of customers data base entries by hand, letting an intern alter some core component (to have more logging) and directly push it to prod...
Silly me.
I mean I suspected, that maybe it's not only this tiny little company acting wild, that also the bigger companies with all their ISO certified processes, agile blabla, professional tooling whatsoever - will also have their skeleton in the closet,.. like some obscure assembler part buried in the heart of your code base nobody dares to touch...
How Pieter Hintjens asked about the state of the industry and all the fads so bluntly put it:
"It's all bullshit."
But we are humans, so we better jump on the bandwagon if we want to keep our jobs... and somehow try to keep that trashy house of cards from crashing down. -
Cont. https://devrant.com/rants/12659551/... .
Imagine receiving three basically the exact same reports instead of just one.
When releasing games on consoles, there are some rules for basic quality the games have to meet that depend on the platform.
Some of those rules align across all platforms, but are written down as different test scenarios.
Let's say, the game mustn't crash && tests are listed as:
- Company A: Test 0.
- Company B: Test 1.
- Company C: Test 2.
If a crash affects all platforms, the _logical_ thing to do would be to write just one report, mention all affected platforms && also list all requirements that are failed due to this.
Leadership: 'No, we need to create separate reports for each affected platform.'
Result: Only one report gets actual attention, while all the others are left forgotten, living as zombies.
...sometimes I wonder whether such people are paid per report, given their approach.
/* For some context: I am dealing w/ a multiplatform project built using one of the more popular engines, making vast majority of issues present regardless of the platform. Creating separate reports makes absolutely no sense.
They changed their mind solely after this being brought up by the developers, though. */2 -
Well started on a support job about 1,5 years ago. Two days ago I had an interview about a new position in the same company, as a c# programmer. :)
I really hope I get it and I think I will. On Monday they will ask the rest of the crew what they think on the scrum meeting.
I'm just self taught on php so this will be fun. I hoped for this when a took the job, but I didn't think it would happen.
I have worked a lot with the development team the last year, with tests and I have also done some TSQL work so they all know some of my knowledge. But still I'm a little nervous.2 -
After only having done linux and web projects for the past few years, our company took over an old WindowsForms program written by a guy who only (poorly) knows C. It's some of the most foul code I've ever seen... And I'm the only one in the company who knows how to write C#...1
-
Have you ever used Dev-C++ back in the days? For me it was a bloodshed, just like the name of their company.3
-
Wrote a new feature for our flagship product in C. Worked perfectly, no issues. I was told to wait before submitting to SVN.
Because my company is a little cheap in engineering, they took my Green Hills license for another dev to use. I wasn't using it, and now can't compile.
Then, a month later, I was asked to submit my feature to the repo, they needed it in done version, do I did. Still not able to recompile to see if other changes broke anything...
As you probably guessed, no one's code complied after pulling from the repo! Big embarrassment. Weeks later I was told that it wasn't my fault in the end... I don't remember how my code impacted it, but man, it was a bad day for this dev.
Never again!1 -
Lately I had a motivation crisis, that made me almost quit (passing from programming in C# to Visual (*fucking*) Basic).
But I can't quite quit because of personal reasons, so during a break I went out and eat something sweet like an ice-cream (coffee flavour) to explicitly alter my dry low mood(like alcohol does for many... But strangely I'm immune) and started thinking from scratch, thought that I should stop complaining like a little bitch and instead focus on finishing the project at hand as soon as possible, so I can move on, hopefully, to better projects(most of the other projects in the company are in C#).
So apparently explicitly messing with my brain chemicals and resetting the though on the issue worked for me -
There are tools i use more often, but a place in my heart is reserved for ILSpy.
It shows IL code as c# code and it helped me so much at understanding how components work.
Best moment was when a support guy from a company told me stuff that wasn't correct according to the code...
...no need to tell him. Hope it stays unencrypted :-D -
It's been awhile, for the heads up I'm that good dude applied a job as MIS few months ago, knows a little bit python and the manager finds out, he told me I gotta make a Warehouse Management Software for the company in C# PLUS MIS regular work(server management, user trouble-shooting and stuff).
after I finish my Warehouse Management Software about a week ago, my manager told me which I quote:
"wpf is not enough! we gonna bring it to multi platform like a web interface can be use on employee's phone as barcode reader and do things can be done as wpf can.
aaaaand we need RFID integration for the whole system working with Identity Server on Azure.
AAAAAAND we need it online before Feb 2020."
I guess after C#,
I'm learning typescript and angular now.
oh by the way my position is MIS with MIS salary.
Does this means after all these shits. I can apply as RD my next job right?2 -
It's a shame that people don't want to use F# but prise C# for how cool it became and continue becoming. At the same time, little do they know that many of the features were simply drawn from F#.
It's just rediculous how far this OO and C-Style syntax crap has progressed. They keep copying things from functional langugages, making the initial language to be a monstrocity like C++ is now, insted of just using languages like C#. I mean, it was right there before C#: async/task, immutablility, records, indexes, lambdas, non-null by default, who the hell knows what else.
Besides, many people (in my company at least) are just blindly overengineering with patterns and shit, where a simple function would be just enogh.
Watch some some NDC talks about F#, in particular those of Scott Wlaschin. It's just better in so many ways: less noice (I'm looking at you, brackets, commas and semicolons), the whole LOT of type inference and less duplication (just look at the C# signatures of linq methods - it's difficult to read them), immutability by default, non-nullable by default, ADTs and pattern matching, some neat features like type providers (how many times have used "paste special" or an online tool to create C# classes from a JSON/XML file, and how many times have your regenrated it because of schema changes?) and units of measure.
Of course, in some cases it's not optimal, in some cases mutable datastructures of C# are better for performance. But dude, how many performance critical systems have you wrote in C#? I mean, if it comes to performance you should use Rust or C++ or C after all.

guide to make successful software house company for future me:
1.find shortest domain name with code / star / best / it / super / ai / - whatever banger word you find
2. parse companies work board / linkedin jobs
3. parse people profiles
4. setup email server and create fake linkedin profiles that match jobs and candidates so company looks big
5. fake c-level management so company looks big
6. spam likes and create posts generated by ai from multiple profiles
7. spam invitations to people that match job descriptions and to people working within companies posting jobs
8. offer fake candidates that match job description
9. find real but less promising candidates and offer them the job
10. tell that fake candidate is no longer available but you have someone better

Recently, our COO left the company and we got a new one. He is, for some reason, a freelancer which I find very odd as a C-level employee.
Anyway, fast forward 3 months and we the scrum master (or project manager), 60% of our dev team, one tech guy responsible for installations and our intern IT support department all got fired.
Now they gave me the decision for a raise, extra training (that they pay) but I have to find/figure out or an e-bike. Does anyone have some advice?5 -
I want to rant about my college.
I studied computer engineering, we spent 5 years studying circuits, diodes, CPUs etc ..
It's cool and all but like in my country we don't have a single computer's manufacturing company and all computer engineering students work in software development. But they didn't teach us a single usfel thing for work! We only studied Java and C++, nothing more and our professors claim that you guys can learn software development from the internet.
Our professors whom they don't even know how to debug a code not to mention how to full screen a power point presentation.
My point is college is trash.3 -

This happened 2 years ago. With 1 year c++ application development experience in a big firm, the new company hired me as "intern". That moment I was like ok ok whatever then the nightmare began. They forced me to code on windows xp with visual studio200x with an old ass c++ (much older than my previous work, there's no string data type) and it has to work on IE. I told my supervisor that this code is obsolete and I need a new windows, IDE, and newer c++ to work on. He said he will get it done. 1 month passed I still sat my ass on the same chair with an old ass pc in front of me. Best thing I could do was designing a new web ui yet they still force me to work on their unfinished obsoleted codes. Well u know what? I quit 😒1

Working now 8 months at a company. (C++)
Every feature becomes a refactor and a code clean
Every bug becomes a refactor and a code clean
Every Refactor becomes a code purge. :/1 -
Finally! The most incompetent C-level has decided to leave the company. He did fire most of the old dev team & a lot of other people and employed people he already knew.
I think he did fire around 20-25 people and hired new people or people he know. Our company cosists of 40 employees :D1 -
So what do you think about the path oracle is going with Java now?
The good side is new versions get usable much earlier. lts versions, open variants and many JDKs customized for any need you might have.
But there is also the darkside with their hey lets support Java 8 for ever, as long as their is someone willing to give us much money.
I mean that could be a reason many old-school company will pay instead of making their shit work with newer versions.
The gap between C# and Java is getting closer from faster releases, towards modern features and many more. Maming it more attractive.
But Oracle is making the thing a bit shitty in my opinion.21 -
Hello everyone, looking for some career advice here.
First of let me list my credentials off here. I graduated in 2016 with a BS in Computer Science. While I was working on my degree I worked as an engineering for 3 years in a cell phone repair company. What this entailed was managing/reverse engineering a software solution of one of that companies vendors, writing documentation etc (it started as a summer internship and became a job that I worked full time over Summers and up to 30/week in the school year).
Anyway, the vendor I acted as a point of contact offered me a job before I graduated and I started with them in May 2016 as a junior most Dev. Since then I have have maintained the same job tittle (software developer), however my duties have increased.
Currently I maintain several of our build servers, manage software releases (as in I am the lead developer of this application) for the service that makes 90% of this companies money, and am the subject matter expert for everything regarding smartphone diagnostics. I've literally been entrusted with access to all of the company servers for if something goes wrong. I'm also training our newest developers and being told I'm doing a good job at doing so.
Currently with my job on a day to day basis I'm working with Java, Android, C++, Golang, MongoDB, iOS in Objective C, and Python
(Please note this is a small company of less than 50 people)
Currently I'm only being paid 60k USD and am wondering if I should hold out for a raise or consider looking for a better job? ( Please note I live in the east coast in an area where the cost of living isn't absurd).
Because this job was practically handed to me I don't know what to expect and feel imposter syndrome as I think I deserve better pay but think I don't have enough years experience. All advice is welcome4 -
One of the guys were tasked to implement a button with a functionality.
When I clicked the button, I got an error. Asked the guy why, and he said that fixing the functionality was not part of the task. What? So basically he just put a nice little button that does nothing? And our team lead just approved his merge request?!
I can't comprehend this logic at all.
Another story, I overheard a different guy debugging a pointer array (C++) with a senior. I couldn't keep my face straight when he seems to struggle to dereference a pointer and iterating through an array. He can't do that and he calls himself a mid-level engineer?!
The more I stay in this company, the more I realize that many people in my teams are clowns.4 -
Wk49 - Started by learning the basics from a C# book when I was around 14, then found a project I thought would be fun and started programming. My logic worked but wasn't the most efficient, but as I found more projects to do, my skills got better.
I'm now a full time programmer for a large company, I don't have any formal qualifications but now studying MTA.
You don't need uni to get a job in programming, just a passion for learning and patience. -
I recently met with a client (a UK-focused homewares company sold by the likes of Next etc) who were meeting with Amazon the next day . Amazon has told them that people search for their name every 6 mins on Amazon. This according to my calculation is c. 7200 searches a month. There are 8,100 searches monthly globally on Google for their brand name according to Google Keyword Planner - suggesting that Amazon is close to becoming the major search destination for shopping (if it isn't already!) in the UK.2

At my first professional experience, just coming out of university and with no experience on Android. And the company put me doing a port of a VoIP lib of a Desktop application in C++, to be used as a mobile lib for Android app. At that time C++ wasn't supported by the Android ndk.
So my work was learning about android ndk, learn about jni, find out a solution for the non supported C++ in the ndk and learn about a proprietary lib for VoIP.
3 months later and with a lot of help I was able to put it to working (forget about performance). Still they told me my work wasn't good enough and I should have done a better job. For a noob developer that was hard to take. -
Story about someone elses rant
A = coworker;
B = random guy from company, but from another office;
C = manager we like a lot, cause he has IT background;
A asked B about a problem, because B worked with the that thing. B answered I dont know. So A asked C, and told him, im asking you, because B said, he dont know. C went nuts and pulled a shitstorm on B, like who WTF do you think you are, that you cant give at least a hint to A on the problem or Cc someone who may know more about the problem.
what i wanna say is, shouldnt it be common sence if someone asks me about a problem i navigate him to a person, who knows more than me? Even if its the first day i the office, I know this is my team leader he should see the bigger picture of the problem, so ask him. But telling idk is like, go fuck your self. -
So here is the question.
Am a CS student and interested in app development languages like C++ and C#. And leaning a lot about those languages and practicing.
Today in our class some member from **** company came and they told us that are going to arrange a 2 days workshop for php, JS, Ajax, HTML and CSS languages. After that they are going to offer a internship also. 😃
So should I go or not?
Intrested in app development but still wanted to have knowledge about web. Really confused on what to do! 😕😕😕7 -
I’m one month into my first job as a C++ dev for a company with a MASSIVE code base and I still am struggling with having a consistent build environment, sometimes spending almost 3 hours a day troubleshooting because my environment is always inconsistent. I’ve barely gotten my hands into the code nor pushed anything because I’m stack tracing through thousands of compiled dlls through process of elimination to identify a bug in the software.
Is this normal? What am I doing wrong? I’m freaking out that I haven’t shown any productivity to this company.1 -
Oh now that I'm remembering, this is how I learned PHP. It's not my specialty, but I'm writing a small plugin for WordPress.
I was in a dinner with my partner's family. One of their parent's siblings manages the IT in their company, and we had this conversation:
family member: So what language do you know?
Me: A bit of C and C++, and I did a project last year in Java/Kotlin. But my current project uses mostly Python.
Family Member: Oh Python? But Python is a very easy language, even I could learn pretty quickly. That's why we don't use it in my company. We use PHP.
Challenge accepted!
Within a week I was able to learn PHP and some basic templating library, and replicated most their company's website into a new server.5 -
I hate this type of Developer who always asks to add everything as requirement for every single detail. Company is paying you for thinking, or at least asking BA, not only coding requirements in Java/C#/whatever and denying fixes because it was not in requirements.3

There is one thing that will haunt me forever.
In my old job I was asked to fix some PHP code written by a guy who recently left the company.
Not only passwords were hardcoded in the code, but also he named all the variables like $a, $b, $c. And I still wonder, how comes he was not fired but left on his own terms?6 -

How do I push a hiring offer to later and say no?
Context:
I work at company A and the manager, let's call her Jane, who hired me at company A, left shortly after to join company B at a senior executive level (very high up the ladder in a public company).
After few months, I decide to quit company A and started my job hunt. I received a job offer from company C.
Now, my relationship with Jane was super awesome. Jane was very supportive and thought very highly of me. She offered to write a LoR (letter of recommendation ) for me whenever I needed it.
Now, out of courtesy and maintaining the relationship, I mentioned to Jane that I quit company A and will be joining company C.
To which she immediately mentioned that she could hire me and setup my connect with one of the hiring managers in her team. We had our initial conversation and they skipped second stage (since I got a very high reference) and moved to final stage of the interview.
Now, I am not really keen on joining this company B as it will also require me to move outside of the country to a different timezone.
At the same time I don't want to sabotage my relationship with Jane and make sure I keep my options/doors open for some collaboration in future.
How do I go about telling Jane (and the team) that for now, I am focusing on joining company C and would like to explore the opportunity with her company/team in future, without damaging my professional image?11 -

!rant advice needed
I have an interview at a company this week who work in PHP, magento, angular js, swift and sometimes c#. Sounds quite good for a new grad with one year of experience in PHP and front end.
The problem is the salary is 20-22k. My friends are looking in London and the ones who ha e secured roles are 36k and 40k. They are roughly the same level of developers as me.
So what to do? Probably turn it down? I don't know what o should expect but I was hoping for around 30k. I need the money for personal reasons and 22k doesn't seem like a lot for a first class computer science graduate with a year and a half industry experience. I could be wrong?7 -
There’s somewhat of a magical moment when you teach the interns how to turn their huge switch statement into a function Pinter branch table....
Eliminating shotgun surgery as the project advances and new features are added to a module.
Colleges definitely don’t teach students certain things... and when I end up teaching them... the excitement and ideas they come up with are always great.. and they always end up with a stronger understanding of things.
(Embedded company .. all software here is C or C++) yes we use the optimizer.... sometimes you gotta do seemingly complex things to improve readability and maintainability. -
Degree is still on the way.
But once i have finished it'll help me do something like
std::cin>>a;
syd::cin>>b;
int sum = a + b ;
std::cout<<"sum of both numbers is:"<<sum;
My degree tells me that it is the most useful way of solving real world problems. By using c++ to cout statemens on terminal can solve all problems of a corporate company.1 -
AWS.
It’s taken off like a rocket in the .net world where I live even though c# support doesn’t seem marvellous and with Azure .net is the 1st class citizen and seems far easier to use.
But the really odd thing is I’m talking to the devs about how they use it and what they use, and it’s like a damn cult. They’re absolutely fanatical about it.
I don’t get it, it’s just a load of APIs, I just can’t get excited about APIs.
At my company the rest of the stuff, well that’s gone to shit and seems 10 years out of date. But it doesn’t matter because we use AWS and it’s the be-all-and-end-all.

!rant apologies
I am a third year computer science student and I'm interested to see how professionals think I stack up against grads they have worked with straight from uni.
I have spent 15 months at a web company working on bespoke solo products on LAMP stacks. I know html, css, JavaScript and its library JQuery very well (I know JavaScript is massive to be saying I know it well)
I am reasonable at PHP and MySQL. Currently I am studying node.js and building an api that mashes up data from other APIs to build a new service. I'm also working on a C# Microsoft framework bespoke website. I know git to a reasonable level - branches, merges, rollbacks and all that jazz.
I am also studying development architectures to try and be more useful.
So if you guys came across a new grad that knew HTML, css, JavaScript, JQuery, maybe angular js, PHP, basic Linux commands, MySQL, C#, dev architectures, agile methods, node.js, git and has 15 months experience working on small to medium sized solo projects would you want to hire them?
Point to note I'll probably graduate first class (80%+) from a mid range uni.
Sorry, I know this is not the place but I like this community.5 -
I'm currently working as a technical product manager. We lost a QE a while ago and I stepped into the ticket testing, happy path, and some exploratory testing for our tickets.
I had a friend from another company tell me to apply for a QE position. It's a combo product and QE position and I'm about 80% qualified.
Can anyone give me any places I can quickly and efficiently learn about setting up automated testing? I have some background in css, js, and html but basically no c# or other languages. -
So i want to know how finances work for tech companies. There are a lot of big numbers that come up when we talk about a company's finances, but i don't understand why the tech people are so down in the ladder, or why those no.s are not associated with the tech teams
Like here's a statement :
"company x is valuable at $42billion , their annual turnover is $5billion. With a profit of $2billion. The ceo has a worth of $1.4billion and company's share are selling at $1500 per share. Person a,b,c of the company hold's 2,3,4% in stocks and the investor sequoia capital is thinking of providing an investment of $25million"
This is a hypothetical company, but if this company is also providing its members of tech team @$20-200k per annum (depending upon seniority), then is it relatively too less? I mean the company is playing with numbers in millions, people are being attributed with billions and yet a developer has to satisfy in those numbers.
Is it because we are being paid by the no. Of hours/time? Because i want to know what other ways are there in which those managers and ceos and investors are being paid? I have heard far too many stories about devs leaving their jobs and starting businesses, and I don't think its only because their boss was a dick1 -

Recently I had the "pleasure" to participate in a recruitment process for a web developer internship position.
First of all, a nice lady calls me to confirm everything and sets up a meeting. She mentions about a qualification test and gives me several technologies like python, c#. I was confused but we explained everything and she knew I was not interested in these technologies since I didn't apply for python or c# dev.
Later on I go to their company building to take the test. I get the test, I overview all tasks - 80% of the test was composed of OOP and C#. OOP - this I can understand but fucking C#? Seriously wtf? I wrote the test the way I was able to do it and at the end the guy says it was deliberate to put other technologies so that he could check how would we find ourselves in a situation like this.
Honestly, I felt like the whole process was a big joke for them. I wasted time going there just to see that I'm taking the test that includes the things posted in the job offer only in 20%.
Fuck them. -

Which Idea was it to combine C, C++ and Java in one big fucking Project. And who thought that it was a Good Idea to use Eclipse C++ for developing with Java. If the whole Project would have been in Java I could have used the auto Import feature from Eclipse, but if Eclipse doesn't Know that the Java Files are Java Files it doesn't fucking work. So I just had to spent a whole fucking Day compiling the Projects with Maven so that I can write around 100 Lines of Import...
And the best Thing is, a few Weeks ago the Imports existed so a fucking asshole just erased them when he tried to optimize these...
Sometimes I hate this company -
I wanted to get into programming since secondary school (at around age 14), and I started out with some very basic gamemaker stuff. Later I also started doing some C#, but I didn't have the patience or skill to create anything actually cool or useful. Then at age 18 I went to uni to pursue a cs degree, and that's when I actually properly learned how to program in C#, with a bit of Haskell, Python and C++. A little more than a year after that I got a job as a Java developer (with many many thanks to a friend of mine, @chappio). I already knew how to program but there I learned a lot more about good practices, quality control, testing and so on. Fast forward to now, 2 years later, and I'm almost done with my bachelor's degree (just a few more months) and I still work at the same company with much joy. Pursuing my dreams has worked out pretty well so far, let's hope it stays that way :)

Our company (non tech) made Python available to install on company PCs sometime last year. Great! Only vanilla Python. Not so great. I opened a ticket to ask for the possibility to install additional packages, or if thats too much to ask, if they at least make some packages available (code review and somesuch was mentioned). Today (!), after several responsibility transfers, I finally had a conference call with someone in the company who
A) wanted to help me
B) was authorized to help me and
C) actually knew wtf I even wanted from them.
And after a goddamn hour of command line shenanigans and stackoverflow visits on both sides, I FINALLY have access to pipy.org and can download and install to my hearts content. However it was so long ago that I made that request that I kinda forgot what I wanted to actually DO with those packages...3 -
I'm currently working for 1month to win some money in a company that repair people computer and do a bit of programming.
They've made a software that get every value in a table with SQL and print it.
My boss, gave me as project to make a software that get everything from a database and copy paste it into an another, like a automatic backup system. BUT HE ASKED ME to do it from the last software with Delphi and on Windows XP...
God damn, now i have to remove everything about printing while i was just able to do the software from scratch with C#...9 -
So.. my MacBook Pro 61 Watt C-Type Adapter sparked and stopped working... and my mac is left with just 6% charge. I have a placement exam on the 7th and a certification exam on the 8th. And also, there's no WiFi provider (or I must say a good one) in my area. The one that provides the service is a known fraudulent company.
Don't know if I should be really sad about the problems or be a bit happy because now I don't have to stare at my screen for hours.. life really sucks sometimes.15 -
2nd week at my first job after I got my papers and what am I doing?
Background:
I followed a course of three years where all we learnt was web development with php and javascript. I of course wanted more and spend hours after school learning as much as a could without any help from others.
About the course:
We learn to tinker with code (php, javascript).
There was never a mention of design patterns.
We never got to know about TDD (test driven development).
Now:
Got the papers, found a job as a c# junior development and am currently working on a C# .NET web app using azure cloud and high standards using unit tests to provide a product for the awesome company I work at which should generate a stable income.
Tldr;
Hard work pays off. -
I don't like how my company keeps looking for bandage solutions instead of technology solutions.
We are a security company and we have an agent. We aren't allowed to drop binaries in customer environment because compliance.
Okay, fair enough. But we still are running powershell and posix sh scripts like nobody's business.
I suggested using embedded Lua or MicroPython or our own DSL or something. But that idea was shot down because embedding Lua or MicroPython could open up attack surface.
But I feel running PowerShell isn't the best idea either because simply having it enabled isn't the best practice.
And can't do our own DSL because of the engineering overhead. Fair enough, I guess.
So, I suggested running embedded C# in our PowerShell scripts so we could have greater control over the virtual patches we ship. And, it was shot down because compliance. I am not even dropping binary. This C# code will be JIT compiled and executed in memory.
So, I suggested going deep into WMI queries, but this was shot down because WMI queries are another attack vector and may not be enabled on the customer end.
We constantly receive feedback from customer regarding how we can build virtual patches that would bypass their local group policies.
So, I am confused now. Maybe its just skill issue for me or maybe its something else. But I am all out of ideas and I don't know what other innovative solution I can offer.3 -
I find it worrying that I work with c++, cuda and golang, mainly because I’m afraid that those are languages that might not be common in the job market.. but honestly I love what I do, so idk if to trust in my abilities for the future when I don’t work in the same company as today. Should I keep worrying?3

I am so tired of people above me in my company hierarchy that have such pronounced insecurities and power issues. I know Python and C# to a T but haven't worked on many projects. What's the quickest way to freelancing from either of these languages? Suggestions would be immensely appreciated!5

- C-Suite: What the fuck this is not at all what I needed!! My whole company is on collision course with a liquidity crisis. You fucking idiot what did you do I’m so stressed oh noo

Freelancing as Android developer for a year now. Before that I was programming for myself in C, Java and Python for 2 years. Thought about getting a parttime job as android dev in a company for a stable income stream, I never worked in a company before. What does a Company see as Senior and what as Junior? Where do I belong to? I got pretty good references and reviews, made this year 20+ Projects, but some extra income and extra experience wouldnt be bad2

I did learn c and c++. When i got my first job it was support related as Attending calls and providing solutions.
As time passed i came to know that the application company was building has many flaws. From there i learned to exploit that flaws.
So flaws made me to learn to programme. I was 21 when i started. I am 29 now. -
If Company A owns company B & C. And profits from Company B were used in the incorporation and development of Company C.
Can company C list company B as a sponsor and partner along with the other sponsors? Or will that be automatically established if they're under the same parent company?
company B and C are listed and registered as independent companies and provide different services but both provide internet services.1 -
Year 2012, me junior wanting C++ work. Got free internship at age 27 at that company. Did some minor C++ work. Collegue rejected me for work on very interesting C++ project. Yesterday, eight years later, he and I in different company he calls me and asks me to do C++ work, even arranges time for me to read Effective C++. In these eight years I did iOS Android and got pretty fed up with it. Yaaay bitch :)

It seems that my barometer for whether I would stay long in a company is roughly 1.5 years. Because apparently that's how long it takes to gauge if:
(a) The work I'm doing is fulfilling or self-satisfying
(b) My colleagues make work a fun and challenging experience
(c) My bosses are people I can be proud to work for.
Right now, the tally thus far:
(a) The work is half crap, supporting old code (fuck Swig and Architect, by the way) or fixing bugs on old projects. New projects are always mismanaged, and I mean ALWAYS (let's do Agile and create tickets but hey the requirements are still in progress so do start anyway and we'll file everything as bug tickets until they're done)
(b) I'm sure it's an effect of going remote working for the last few months, but I'm feeling detached from my team. It's fine I guess.
(c) My manager is okay, he's a good guy who listens and is also technical so we get along. But his boss (who oversees several teams. including ours) is a total prick who loves to insult people at their expense as a joke. He knows nobody's gonna talk smack back so he just does it without repercussions.
I'll probably see if I can move around internally to a different division since the pandemic makes it difficult to find work externally. I'm grateful I have a job, but I shouldn't have to feel like I owe the company for that at the cost of my personal happiness.
Just gotta #survive2020 I suppose. -
Any1 to suggest a company looking for remote developers

I’m currently into be process of doing interviews and to my worst luck, it seems like all of my offers may be collapsing tightly together within a week.
Some places seem to be more eager than others saying they will get back to me within a week, but I’ve also had an experience where a company seemed like they were really sure on getting me on board but it seems they’ve ghosted me when it came to providing an offer to sign.
For example, this Tuesday I should be hearing from company B who is willing to counter any other offer should another company wants me (I also told them that within a week I should know my answer for them) - which I assume is when I will be signing and making it official, but I am still waiting on company A whom I really want to work for (they still haven’t given an offer) and then there’s company C, which seems prospective and higher paying who will interview me but only after after company B’s deadline.
If I officially get signed on to B, should I still proceed with the interview with C regardless?
Some companies have told me that if someone is paying me (ex.) 75k that they’re willing to counter it - should I divulge details which companies is doing this?1 -
Can anybody point me to some really good resources, guides, videos etc for umbraco website development.
Our firm has inherited a couple of these sites from another company and your's truly has to somehow or other maintain them. I've set up a windows host and migrated the sites and everything is running fine but I'd love to know how I go about making an umbraco site from new. I've got visual studio etc and am willing to learn ASP.net, C# etc.
I've always been an PHP/MYSQL dev using open source stuff, and always thought that I'd burst into flames if I touched anything Microsoft but this stuff looks like it might be useful. Whoever would have thought eh? -
When the service, platform or plugin is bought then the requirements as to why "we" bought it are created....WHAT ON EARTH COULD GO WRONG!??!!!!
I'm literally now going to be using their API, building a UI and feeding it back into our system where if they had someone who actually knew what we're trying to accomplish could have been done with some database tables............
I hate that mentality 'We need X oh look Company Y does it and look at their UI and features!...lets buy it...oh we also need A,B,C,D...thats ok bring in a dev he'll do it their Sales Guy says it can be done....
....coulda given you X,A,B,C and D if I was involved from the beginning, cheaper and quicker. But I digress here's the world's biggest bandaid. -
So I've been helping with recruitment at work for a lead developer. Our first stage is pretty standard for all levels and it essentially a technical interview because CVs are useless really. We're a C# house so we have questions on framework internals such as how the dictionary class is implemented, locking and thread synchronization techniques. Then some pen and paper coding excercises, like reverse array.
I'm not a big fan of these and I think they are too constrained to detail implementations and not about concepts.
So I ask what stuff do you do at your company to get an idea of some ones competency?1 -
One of our partners sent me a Key Injection Tool to inject encryption keys into a PINPAD with. Looks like they were short on developers and had to hire Python typists who have made a mess of a simple AES encryption/decryption. When do these companies learn that writing a security related software in Python is not really secure? I had to read the rubbish in Python and read it from scratch in C++ to get it to work, and am now contemplating whether to provide that company with my version of their Key Injection Tool or not...1

DON'T LOSE HOPE! CONTACT FUNDS RECLAIMER COMPANY TO RECOVER YOUR LOST CRYPTO
Hops and despair hung in the air. The floodwaters reached three feet and turned my craft brewery into a swamp, the kegs bobbing like tipsy buoys. Amid the ruins damp grain bags, shattered fermentation tanks, I saw the real victim: my hardware wallet, soggy but still, the USB port crusty with dirt. And contained? $275,000 of Bitcoin, my sole chance at redemption. I had jokingly named the wallet "Barley Vault." Now, the joke was on me. Insurance adjusters snapped photos and shrugged. "Acts of God aren't covered," they told me, as if divine intervention equated to a ruptured riverbank and a malfunctioning sump pump. My head brewer, Jess, salvaged what she could a water-damaged recipe book, a warped mash paddle and handed me a business card so soggy, the ink seeped like a watercolor. "Called these people," she said. "FUNDS RECLIAMER COMPANY. They recover crypto disasters. Or at least the internet claims.".
I called, half-hoping for a scam.
In its place, a voice arrived, as calm as fermenting lager: "Water damage? We've handled worse." They instructed me to mail the remains of the wallet, wrapped in rice like a vile pho ingredient. I restored the brewery through hand pressure-cleaning of mold, re-wiring circuits as Wizard's engineers conjured their own sorcery, for ten days. They disassembled the wallet's rusty interiors, toasting circuit boards in laboratory ovens, coaxing information from charred chips like alchemists breaking down an infested recipe. The call was at dawn. "Your seed phrase made it," the engineer said. "Stashed in a memory chip. Your Bitcoin's safe." I was in the skeleton of the brewery, sunrise glinting off just-installed stainless steel, and logged in. There it was: $275,000, resurrected. I bought three new fermenters that afternoon. FUNDS RECLIAMER COMPANY didn't just recover crypto, they recovered a legacy. Now, the faucets at the brewery flow again, featuring a special stout called "Hardware Wallet Haze." The flavor descriptions? "Roasted resilience, with a dash of existential relief."
If your cryptocurrency ever becomes washed out by life's flood waters, skip the freakout. Call a SOS for the Wizards. They will drain the mire dry and restore the treasure to you. Just maybe keep your backups above sea level next time.

HOW FUNDS RECLAIMER COMPANY HELP ME RECOVER OVER $94,600 I LOST IN TRADING FOREX
My old age father had an unimaginable loss one night when he was scammed out of 5 BTC by a fraudulent cryptocurrency investment platform. It all began when he met the broker on TikTok, who claimed to represent a reputable trading firm and promised significant returns. The opportunity seemed too good to pass up, and at first, everything appeared legitimate; the platform was professional, and the broker convincing. Excited by the prospect of profit, he decided to invest. However, once the funds were deposited, things quickly took a dark turn. The broker stopped responding to his messages, and he found himself unable to access the platform. It became clear that he had fallen victim to a sophisticated scam. The financial blow was devastating, but the emotional toll was even worse. My father, once confident and optimistic, became deeply distressed. The shock of betrayal, coupled with the enormity of the loss, left him struggling with suicidal thoughts. It was a terrifying and heart-wrenching time, and I didn’t know where to turn for help. Amid this turmoil, an old family friend reached out. This person, who had worked with my father in the past, recommended a recovery service called FUNDS RECLAIMER COMPANY, which I had initially discovered through Reddit. Initially, we were skeptical given our recent experience with fraud, but we were desperate for a solution. Reluctantly, we decided to give them a try. FUNDS RECLAIMER COMPANY offered us a glimmer of hope. Their team was not only professional and efficient but also incredibly compassionate. They took the time to understand the emotional toll the situation had taken on my father and crafted a clear plan of action to recover the lost funds. Throughout the process, they kept us informed, providing regular updates and answering all our questions with patience and empathy. After some time, we received the incredible news that FUNDS RECLAIMER COMPANY had successfully recovered all 5 BTC that my father had lost. The relief and gratitude we felt were indescribable. Not only had they restored our financial loss, but their support also helped my father begin his emotional recovery. In a moment of triumph, my dad even went to announce his story on a local radio station, WABC Radio, to raise awareness about scams and help others avoid similar pitfalls. Slowly, we started to rebuild our lives. If you or anyone you know has fallen victim to a similar scam, Reach out to FUNDS RECLAIMER COMPANY for Bitcoin Recovery.

CRYPTO RECOVERY SPECAILIST CONTACT FUNDS RECLIAMER COMPANY
I am a Mexican based professional in the investment industry and on FUNDS RECLAIMER COMPANY to expand my network and connect with other industry professionals. I would be happy to connect you all with FUNDS RECLAIMER COMPANY and start the dialogue to see how we can cooperate.
At the beginning of 2025, I found myself in a terrifying situation when the entire amount of SUI, worth 250,000 Euros, that I had stored in my Trust Wallet was mysteriously transferred to an unknown address. I had not authorized any transactions, nor had I shared my private keys or seed phrases with anyone, so the sudden disappearance of my funds left me both confused and alarmed. It seemed as though my assets had vanished into thin air, and I couldn’t comprehend how or why this happened. Desperate for a solution, I reached out to Trust Wallet customer support, hoping they might be able to offer some clarity or assistance. The response I received, however, was disappointing. Trust Wallet explained that they couldn't directly trace blockchain transactions, as their platform does not have the capability to track funds once they leave the wallet. They also suggested that the most likely cause of the loss was a compromised private key, even though I had been careful to safeguard this information. I felt an overwhelming sense of helplessness. How could my private key have been compromised without me ever sharing it? I had followed all the best practices for keeping my wallet secure, and yet, my funds were gone. After hitting a dead end with Trust Wallet, I knew I had to explore other avenues for recovery. During my search, I came across Wizard Web Recovery. This company claims to specialize in tracing stolen funds and recovering them from blockchain networks. Initially skeptical, I decided to give it a try. The more I researched Wizard Web Recovery, the more confident I became in their expertise. They have a team of certified experts who specialize in the recovery of lost or stolen cryptocurrency, including ETH and other digital assets, and they seem to have a proven track record in handling these types of cases. When I reached out to FUNDS RECLIAMER COMPANY, their team was prompt in responding and immediately set to work analyzing my situation. They began by asking for transaction details and wallet information, assuring me that they would investigate the matter thoroughly. Over the next few days, I stayed in close contact with them as they worked diligently to trace the stolen funds. Their expertise in blockchain technology and recovery techniques gave me hope that there was still a chance of retrieving my lost assets. Although the process is still ongoing, I feel much more reassured knowing I’m working with professionals who understand the intricacies of cryptocurrency recovery. As we start 2025, I remain cautiously optimistic that my funds will eventually be recovered. If you ever find yourself in a similar situation, I would highly recommend seeking help from certified experts like Wizard Web Recovery. Their dedication to recovering stolen funds has made a potentially disastrous situation a lot more bearable.

HOW TO GET A PROFESSIONAL BITCOIN RECOVERY EXPERT HIRE FUNDS RECLAIMER COMPANY
It was a casual warning about using sketchy third-party wallets in some crypto Discord group. I blew it off, figuring I had done my research, that I was being cautious enough. A week later, that warning haunted me as I woke up to a disastrous reality: I had lost $275,000. I had been using a wallet-something that seemed so legitimate-but which, actually, was a very ingenious scam. Suddenly, everything was going great, and then my balance disappeared into nowhere. I was in a state of utter panic. I had always been very cautious about security; yet, I managed to let my guard down. I felt stupid, helpless, and betrayed. Frantic, I scrolled through the same Discord group in which the warning first appeared; my hands shaking while rereading old messages, hoping for some miracle solution. That's when I saw it-multiple people tagging FUNDS RECLIAMER COMPANY and saying that they were the ones that helped them recover their stolen funds. Desperate, I reached out. I sent in a message detailing everything that happened. Much to my relief, FUNDS RECLIAMER COMPANY got in almost immediately, and from that on, I had this feeling like I was no longer alone with it. They explained the process to me and assured me of how they would handle the matter, and with that, it was all working. I can feel the burden coming off me. It wasn't just their expertise that impressed me, but they were indeed so patient with my endless questions and very transparent about the whole recovery process. They even took the pain to explain how the scam happened and what I could do to prevent it from happening again. More than the recovery, they gave me a lesson in security that I'll never forget. Days went by, and I was on edge, but FUNDS RECLIAMER COMPANY kept on top of all that was happening. I never felt abandoned or in the dark about what was happening. Then, the moment of truth: "We've recovered your funds." I could not believe my ears. My $275,000 was back into my wallet. It was a very important lesson learned in retrospect, one that taught me much more than about wallets and scams: to trust the right people. Discord saved my money and my sanity, and FUNDS RECLIAMER COMPANY was the team that made it all possible. Never again will I ignore community warnings. I'm grateful, wiser, and now an advocate for securing your crypto properly.

MOST TRUSTED USDT RECOVERY EXPERT FUNDS RECLAIMER COMPANY
Happy New Year to all! I’m writing to express my sincere thanks to FUNDS RECLIAMER COMPANY for their outstanding service in cryptocurrency recovery. Losing access to your cryptocurrency assets is a harrowing experience, one that feels even more overwhelming when it seems there’s no way to reclaim what you’ve lost. But with the expert help of FUNDS RECLIAMER COMPANY, you don’t have to go through it alone. I live in California with my wife and three kids. In 2025, we were hit not just by a devastating fire season, but also by what I can only describe as a "fire pandemic" the combination of wildfires, hazardous air quality, and economic disruption created a perfect storm for our family. The impact was overwhelming. Many of our local businesses struggled, and like many others, we found ourselves facing financial strain. In an effort to recover, we decided to invest what little we had left into cryptocurrency. Unfortunately, we became victims of a scam, losing a significant portion of our investment. The emotional toll this took on our family, already reeling from the fires and ongoing challenges, was indescribable. Just when I thought all hope was lost, a friend recommended FUNDS RECLIAMER COMPANY. From the moment I contacted them, I felt a renewed sense of optimism. Their team immediately got to work, thoroughly understanding my situation and explaining how they could help. They were transparent, professional, and incredibly efficient in their approach. Remarkably, within just 48 hours, they successfully recovered the funds that we had feared were gone forever. Thanks to FUNDS RECLIAMER COMPANY, our financial situation has been restored, and we’ve regained the peace of mind that we desperately needed. Their expertise not only helped us recover our investment but also restored our faith in the possibility of recovery during such challenging times. If you ever find yourself in a similar situation feeling helpless after losing access to your cryptocurrency assets I wholeheartedly recommend FUNDS RECLIAMER COMPANY. Their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to their clients make them an invaluable resource in navigating the often-turbulent world of crypto recovery. You don’t have to face the stress of losing your assets alone they are there to help you every step of the way.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO RECOVER LOST/STOLEN CRYPTO YES CONSULT FUNDS RECLAIMER COMPANY
My name is Judith, and I’m from Austin, Texas. In early January 2025, I found myself facing one of the darkest chapters of my life. I had fallen victim to a fraudulent cryptocurrency broker and, in a matter of days, lost an astonishing $187,000. The money I had worked tirelessly to save and invest vanished in the blink of an eye, leaving me emotionally and financially devastated. The sense of hopelessness that took over was overwhelming, and I couldn’t see a way out. In the midst of my despair, I stumbled upon FUNDS RECLIAMER COMPANY. At first, I was understandably skeptical. After all, I had already been burned by scammers, and the thought of trusting another service seemed like a risky proposition. However, something about their website and the glowing reviews from others in similar situations made me hesitate long enough to give them a chance. From my very first interaction with FUNDS RECLIAMER COMPANY, I knew I had made the right decision. The team was not only professional and highly knowledgeable, but they were also empathetic and sensitive to the emotional impact of my situation. They took the time to explain everything to me clearly, outlining how they would approach the recovery process and giving me a sense of control over what was happening. I appreciated their transparency and the way they patiently answered all of my questions, no matter how small they seemed. What truly took me by surprise was how quickly they acted. Within just four days, FUNDS RECLIAMER COMPANY had successfully tracked down and recovered the majority of my funds. I couldn’t believe how efficient and skilled they were. It was a level of service I hadn’t expected, and it gave me a renewed sense of hope. The fear and anxiety that had been clouding my every thought began to lift. Thanks to FUNDS RECLIAMER COMPANY, I not only regained my financial assets but also my peace of mind. They showed me that even in the darkest times, there are professionals out there who can make a difference. I can’t stress enough how invaluable their support has been during this challenging period of my life. If you find yourself in a similar situation, I highly recommend FUNDS RECLIAMER COMPANY. Their team specializes in financial and cyber security recovery, and they approach each case with unparalleled dedication and professionalism. They gave me back my hard-earned money and, more importantly, my hope for the future. Don’t hesitate to reach out to them via email they are ready to help, and I’m confident they can guide you through the recovery process with the same care they showed me.

FAST AND DISCREET CRYPTO RECOVERY WITH FUNDS RECLAIMER COMPANY
My name is Dave, and I work in a mall in London. Months ago, I faced a challenging situation that many people might find themselves in — being scammed out of a substantial amount of money. I lost GBP 100,000 to a forex scam, which was extremely distressing. The scammers had promised high returns on my investment and presented a seemingly credible front, with professional-looking websites, persuasive sales pitches, and even fake testimonials. At first, everything appeared legitimate, and I believed I was making a smart financial decision. However, it all turned out to be a sophisticated con, leaving me devastated and uncertain about how to recover my lost funds. The initial shock of the scam made me feel helpless and overwhelmed. I had no idea where to turn or how to navigate the complex world of financial fraud recovery. I spent days, even weeks, trying to understand what had happened and how I had been tricked. The scammers were elusive, and there was little to no trace of them online once they had my money. I felt trapped in a situation that seemed impossible to escape. after some research and many anxious nights, I came across FUNDS RECLAIMER COMPANY. They seemed to have a good track record of helping individuals in similar situations, so I decided to try their services. The decision wasn’t easy — after all, I had just been swindled out of a large sum of money, and I was cautious about trusting another company. However, the professionalism and transparency displayed by FUNDS RECLAIMER COMPANY put me at ease. They had a detailed, step-by-step recovery process, and their team of experts was readily available to answer my questions and guide me through the steps. From the very beginning, FUNDS RECLAIMER COMPANY demonstrated a high level of professionalism and expertise. They took the time to fully understand my case, ensuring that they had all the details necessary to proceed. Their team explained the recovery process clearly, outlining the steps they would take to track the scammers and recover my funds. They also kept me informed at every stage of the process, which gave me confidence and peace of mind. Although it took some time, FUNDS RECLAIMER COMPANY was successful in helping me recover a significant portion of my lost funds. While I may never fully regain everything I lost, the recovery process has been a huge relief. Thanks to FUNDS RECLAIMER COMPANY, I now have hope that I can move on from this financial setback and regain control of my life.

When I first got involved in crypto, I was excited by the potential for growth, but I never imagined it would end in such a nightmare. I had found what seemed like a trustworthy investment opportunity, one that promised incredible returns with little risk. After weeks of careful research, I took the leap and sent a large sum of money to the platform. Everything appeared legitimate a professional website , user testimonials, and even responsive customer support. But then, overnight, the platform vanished without a trace. The website was gone, and my emails went unanswered. I was left in shock, staring at an empty screen, wondering how I could have been so naive. I felt foolish, embarrassed, and completely powerless. I couldn’t believe I’d fallen for such a blatant scam. For weeks, I tried everything contacting the platform, reporting the scam to authorities, and even reaching out to other so-called recovery services. But each attempt only deepened my frustration. I was met with either silence or more false promises. My hopes were dashed, and I began to believe I’d lost everything. The financial and emotional toll was overwhelming, and I was ready to give up, convinced there was no way back. Just when I was about to lose all hope, I came across a recovery team called FUNDS RECLIAMER COMPANY. Unlike the others, they didn’t make lofty claims or promise instant results. They offered a more thoughtful, strategic approach—one that was based on careful investigation and tailored solutions. They understood exactly what I was going through, and their empathy was genuine. What really set FUNDS RECLIAMER COMPANY apart was their transparency and honesty. They didn’t overpromise or make me any false assurances.

After countless so-called verifications, they shockingly demanded I pay 20 percent of the total amount upfront before any transaction could proceed. What seemed like a great experience turned sour until a friend recommended **HACKINGPROFESSIONAL3 AT G MA IL . C OM**. GET BACK YOUR STOEN CRYPTO: REACH OUT TO FUNDS RECLAIMER COMPANY
Recovering Bitcoin from an old blockchain wallet can feel like a daunting task, especially if you’ve forgotten the password or lost access for several years. I experienced this firsthand with a wallet I thought was lost forever. For years, I tried everything I could think of to regain access, but nothing seemed to work. At that point, I had all but given up on ever recovering the funds, but then I found FUNDS RECLIAMER COMPANY, and they turned everything around. When I first reached out to their team, I was honestly skeptical. After all, I had already tried numerous other methods, and none of them had yielded any results. But FUNDS RECLIAMER COMPANY took the time to understand my situation. They explained the recovery process thoroughly, showing me how their expertise in blockchain wallets and password recovery could potentially restore my access. They reassured me that it wasn’t a lost cause, and from that moment, I knew I was in good hands. The process itself was meticulous, involving some complex decryption techniques and cracking of passwords that I thought would be impossible. They didn’t rush or pressure me to make any decisions they simply worked with precision and dedication. One of the most reassuring things was that they kept me updated every step of the way. Even when it looked like we were hitting a wall, they remained confident and kept searching for solutions. Eventually, after a lot of hard work and persistence, they cracked the password and regained access to my old blockchain wallet. It was such an incredible feeling to finally see my Bitcoin balance again after years of being locked out. I had honestly written it off as lost money, but FUNDS RECLIAMER COMPANY proved me wrong. They were able to retrieve my funds and transfer them back to a secure wallet that I now control. What impressed me most about FUNDS RECLIAMER COMPANY was not just their technical ability, but their integrity and transparency. I was concerned about the safety of my funds during the recovery process, but they assured me that they had security measures in place to protect my assets. I was able to watch the recovery unfold with confidence, knowing that my Bitcoin was in safe hands. If you're struggling with an old blockchain wallet and think your Bitcoin is gone for good, I can’t recommend FUNDS RECLIAMER COMPANY enough. They specialize in this kind of recovery, and their team is both trustworthy and highly skilled. There’s truly nothing to lose by reaching out, and you might just find that your lost Bitcoin is still recoverable. I’m so grateful to them for their persistence and professionalism in getting my funds back it was an experience I won’t forget.

FOR SCAM/FAKE INVESTMENT, HIRE SOLACE CYBER WORKSTATIONS FOR RECOVERY
I was tricked by a fake cross-chain crypto bridge scam that cost me a huge loss of 87 ETH. I first came across the bridge through Twitter, where it was heavily promoted as a trustworthy service for converting assets into wrapped tokens across different blockchains. The advertisements seemed convincing, so I trusted them and decided to deposit my ETH. At first, everything looked normal. I expected to receive the wrapped tokens shortly after my deposit, but those tokens never arrived. After waiting and checking multiple times, I realized I had been scammed. The funds I sent were stolen by the scammers, who never intended to provide any legitimate tokens. It was devastating to see such a large portion of my investment disappear with no way to reverse the transaction. I reached out to Solace Cyber Workstations, a company known for helping victims of crypto theft recover their funds. Solace Cyber Workstations immediately began investigating the fraudulent smart contract behind the fake bridge. Using their expertise, Solace Cyber Workstations traced my stolen ETH through the blockchain and discovered the funds had been transferred to a deposit address on Binance, one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges in the world. Solace Cyber Workstations worked closely with Binance and legal authorities to apply pressure and successfully freeze the stolen funds. I was cautiously hopeful because I knew recovering crypto after a scam is often complicated. Thanks to the relentless efforts of Solace Cyber Workstations, they managed to recover all 87 ETH that were stolen from me. Getting back everything I lost was a huge relief in the crypto space. The whole ordeal was overwhelming, but knowing that Solace Cyber Workstations was on my side made all the difference. If you ever fall victim to a crypto scam, don’t give up. Solace Cyber Workstations can help you track down and recover your stolen funds. Reach out to them with the information.

Hey fellow c++ devs, i have a question. I am currently working for a company that has a system with more than 300 000 thousand lines of maintained code and it is written in C++03. A lot of it utilises boost and custom performance work arounds and migration is currently out of the question, but I would really love to see some Cpp11 sugar in the code-base. I know there might not be too much business value to this potential endevour, but what do you think?1

RECOVER LOST CRYPTO WITH THE HELP OF FUNDS RECLAIMER COMPANY
I'm a logical individual, I assure you. I don't believe in conspiracies, in reading minds, in messages from the universe "sending me messages." But in hindsight, the universe wasn't sending messages at all – it was holding a sign in my front lawn, screaming at me to pay attention!
My three disparate friends—*in altogether disparate professions—*all mentioned FUNDS RECLIAMER COMPANY in one and the same month, no less. First, my finance buddy told me about how they recovered his $150,000 following a phishing attack. Next, a technology buddy waxed poetic about getting recovered his compromised wallet a week afterward. And then, out of nowhere, my fitness trainer (yes, my fitness trainer) mentioned them when I grumbled through leg day at the gym.
I could have taken down my contact information at that point, but no, I simply chuckled. "Wow, these guys must have been pretty darn talented." And then I continued with my totally secure, totally unpenetrable life in crypto.
And then one morning, I signed in to my wallet and saw the "incorrect password" message I'd been dreading. No problem—I tried again. And then again. And then yet again. With each failure, I crept ever-closer towards a full-fledged meltdown in life.
And then I considered, "No problem, I have my backup key stored!" Except.I hadn't saved it anywhere, in my hyper-care in being ultra-secure, I'd buried it somewhere so secure even I couldn't remember!
And at that point, full-blown panic moved in and started unboxing its bags. $300,000. Gorno.
My head careened out of control. Perhaps I could meditate? Stupidity, I know. Perhaps I could scream? Tempting, I must admit.
Perhaps I could—OH. WAIT
I remembered FUNDS RECLIAMER COMPANY. Same name, three times in one month, appearing in my life. All at once, my three friends no longer seemed mad. I took out my phone and called them.
From my first conversation, I could trust I was in safe hands. Their team sounded relaxed, professional, and obviously in charge of a routine activity. They questioned me with all proper questions, analyzed my case, and began working immediately.
A couple of days later, I received a message: "We recovered your wallet." I sat down in a heap, full of a mix of joy and disbelief at having my life restored in one go. I sent a same message to all three friends: "Fine, you were correct." Their smug messages popped in at once.
Moral lesson? In case three disparate persons report about a single issue, it is no fluke but a heads-up. And when that issue turns out to be FUNDS RECLIAMER COMPANY, make a call even before a disaster can unfold.

I NEED A HACKER TO RECOVER MY STOLEN BITCOIN CONTACT FUNDS RECLAIMER COMPANY
As a professional footballer playing for one of London’s top football teams, my life has always been focused on excelling in my career, working tirelessly to improve my skills, and delivering performances that would make my fans proud. The intensity of the game, the excitement of the crowd, and the bond with my teammates are things that make football more than just a job it’s my passion. Off the pitch, I’ve always been mindful of securing my future, and I knew that investing my money wisely was essential to maintaining my financial stability after my playing days. When I first heard about an investment broker that promised high returns with minimal risk, it sounded like a great opportunity to grow my savings. The company had a professional appearance, with glowing testimonials and a polished website that instilled confidence. They reassured me that they had a foolproof strategy for earning returns while minimizing risk, so I felt comfortable entrusting them with a significant portion of my earnings. I decided to invest 1 million euros, believing it was a sound decision that would help me secure my future. At first, everything seemed to go according to plan. I saw modest but steady returns, and the broker’s platform appeared to be user-friendly and transparent. Encouraged by this, I continued to increase my investments, watching the numbers in my account slowly grow. But, as time went on, the returns began to slow down, and eventually, I found myself unable to access my funds. Attempts to contact the broker were met with vague responses and delays, and soon, I realized that I had been scammed. The realization that I had lost 1 million euros was crushing. It felt like an enormous betrayal especially since I had worked so hard to build my career and manage my finances carefully. I was overwhelmed with a sense of hopelessness and frustration. I felt lost, not knowing what to do or where to turn for help. It was during this time of despair that I discovered FUNDS RECLIAMER COMPANY , a company that specialized in helping people recover funds lost to financial scams. At first, I was skeptical. Recovering such a large sum of money seemed like a long shot, but I was desperate, so I decided to give it a try. To my surprise, the team at FUNDS RECLIAMER COMPANY was incredibly professional and attentive. They quickly took charge of the situation, using their expertise and resources to track down my lost funds. Within just a few weeks, I was thrilled to find that they had successfully recovered the majority of the 1 million euros I had invested. Not only did they help me get my money back, but they also provided me with valuable advice on how to approach investments more cautiously in the future. I am truly grateful for their help. Thanks to FUNDS RECLIAMER COMPANY, I was able to restore my financial stability and learn critical lessons about the importance of due diligence when investing. Their dedication and professionalism gave me a renewed sense of confidence, not just in my financial decisions, but in how to navigate the often-risky world of investing.
