So i was playing around with terminal apps in node.js a few weeks ago and made a CLI version of devrant. Images get converted to ascii just for fun. This is about was far as it goes for me though - anyone want to take it over? (The code is shit - this was a midnight proof of concept). Currently there's pretty much just the rant listings, the login works too but I think @dfox would need to approve it's use.
Next script I'm writing is going to be a terminal rant posting tool so I can rant from my server 😉

My mental health has been down the drain b'cuz of circumstances. And unfunnily, it did end up taking the better of me. yet folks around me still do not believe it's a thing that people don't want to live anymore; rather it's a "childish" thing and "are you so weak" thing.
And I'm just gonna tell you, if you ever said that to someone who feels like the world is coming to an end for them, you're an unbearable ass, and you're probably one reason that person wants to off themself.

Just thought of a cool feature for devRant: rant it later!
I get why the 2 hours limit between rants exists, but it would be so cool to write a rant and the app to self post it after the 2 hours limit expires!
And it could also give a notification that the rant was posted.

Feature request:
A lot of people have been commenting on rants just to later get notifications about it, but also from my experience often times I comment on a rant but don't want to be subscribed to it.
Why not make it not subscribe you to the rant by default, and instead change the rant mute button to do the opposite and subscribe you to that rant? It would avoid the pointless comments, and this

I just realized that devrant is the *only* community I can resort to lol. I can't rant to any of my coworkers about work. can't rant to any of my colleagues in college because they are fucking idiots. Ok, I am using this program again, this time with 43 programs (i guess), and it saves me at least 30 minutes.
Some were interested how I made it, well, another person (who is not in devrant) helped me (and he is not from stackoverflow) make it.
You can see how it works (the frontend) by looking at the image below.
I am afraid that I can't release the source now, and maybe not soon because of personal reasons.
Back to the point, I found a massive bug there, you can see "Finding uninstaller" in the middle of the two, and I can't fix it, so I shall just leave it alone.
It is Saturday now or Sunday I guess, take a good rest, and get back to work in Monday! (or school for students)

1) When you have just unlocked the ability to use a new item for your avatar send a notification i.e.
"XXXXXX just +1 Your comment, you can now get a pet tiger!"
or
"XXXXXX just +1 Your comment, you can now choose a new t-shirt"
2) Rant categories, i.e. Clients, colleagues, OS, jokes, !rant etc...

I was just browsing around on devRant as usual and I got an idea. Though I'm pretty sure many people must have had it already.
But still, don't you guys think it would be nice to not hide the rant when you tap on it to expand because on slow networks it takes a long time to load the whole rant so we as users could just read the short version of the rant while it's being loaded and save some time. We could then just tap a long rant for it to expand and then read the smaller version until it does, it'll just save time I think.

I dunno if this is a rant or an anti-rant, but for some reason, Assembly and low-level development hardly ever tick me off. It absolutely dumbfounds me how what many regard as the most frustrating and difficult ways of programming a binary digital computers is just so enjoyable. I spend hours per day teaching myself C and GNU Assembly and how it works with little actually getting done. It just rarely gets frustrating enough to rant about. Ladies and gentlemen I think I have found my calling!

Just a quick rant to express my distaste that the AWS ALB ingress controller for Kubernetes doesnt expose any useful metrics. I just wanna know the target response latency is that too much to ask?1

This is just a idea, but sometimes rants can create new rant's what need a place of there own, maybe adding a option that lets you Re-Rant or something like this what will take someones reply as the leading rant and you comment as the first reply to that rant, Letting the original rant to say true to its topic5 -

I was wondering why all images on a rant were a grey ghost silhouette until I stumbled upon another rant with a different aspect ratio image. It's not a ghost, just a fuck up of images.

Ok, look, man, I'm not involved in any part of the product planning. If you need me to write tests for product you're still writing, you at least need to give me a solid idea of what you want it to do. I can't make what you need if I don't know what's needed.

@dfox I have a strange behaviour. Don't know if it's just me. But when I Click on a rant to open it on "a new window" and I give the rant a "++" and go Back afterwards, the plus icon on the specific rant changed the Color to Red but the counter didn't changed. When I Click the rant again, the counter and the Color is correct. But if I go Back again, only the Color remains, not the counter.
Does anybody else made this experience?

my proposed project was accounting system for small scale businesses. after painstakingly copy pasting codes xD from an existing project(which i have previously made during college days), although i have already anticipated this idea and wasnt really planning to create a five-star-in-usability kinda system for a small project, i realised that i cant make accounting a standalone system, it has to be a module. just a module. but i dont like that, it defeats the grand purpose of what i really want my system to be, it has to be a standalone system with fewer user inputs.
welp. gotta do what u gotta do now. create additional modules(inventory, invoicing, etc). also deadline's a couple of weeks from today.
