I'm happy the announce the official devRant bug/feature suggestion tracker, now on GitHub!
It just went live, and you can find it here: https://github.com/devRant/devRant
Going forward, please use that issue tracker for all bug reports and feature suggestions. We decided to move bugs/features reports to GitHub because we've had a lot of people tell us they'd prefer that method since it makes tracking issues easier, and we also think it will improve searchability and maintainability of current bugs and feature suggestions.
Since we're starting from scratch with it, if there's a bug/feature that you're interested in submitting, and it's not already there, then please go ahead and add it! Even if it's been suggested before in a rant, we want to get them in the GitHub issue tracker, so please add it there too.
Feel free to let me know if you have any questions, and we hope this new method makes it easier to see what bugs we're working on fixing and makes it easier to see and discuss possible new features!47 -
Introducing new Notif filters! Now on mobile, all your notifications are broken up into category tabs and you can clear each category separately. No more digging for mentions!
Also we just released a new image preview for when a rant is shared on FB, Twitter, etc. which includes the ranter's avatar image. You can see it by sharing a rant on social media, or check out an example here: devrant.com/rants/1036286/image.png (if you change the rant ID, you can see others)46 -
Windows is such a great os. Especially after you installed the windows updates. Look what cool features it unlocked :20
-
Everytime they force me to add and test stupid features. I usually end up making my own version, which they dump almost every time.2
-
When you made a commit that deletes more code than what it adds. And the features are still the same 🎉8
-
Indians in a nutshell...
X feature is unavailable in the paid version.
But X = a + b + c in other free softwares.
Problem hacked.9 -
It's 2018 and I am forced to add new features on project that was deployed in 2003 and lastly updated at 2009.
Best part is that PHP version on the production server is [drum roll] 4.3.8. I found out that this version was the latest at July 2003. On top of that, server runs on Windows Server 2003 and the database is oracle (meaning php driver is needed).
I have spent a WHOLE WEEK just trying to recreate that environment in order to start working on the new features.
Sorry for grumping but I had to take it out somewhere.12 -
That moment your javascript has a bug but its a cool one so you decide to leave it and call it a "new feature"2
-
Client: I need this very complex feature
Dev : Ok, give me approx 2 weeks, this is new to me, have to do r&d.
Client: I can't give you 2 weeks, you have 2 days.
Dev: Somehow manages to complete in 2 days.
After few weeks.
Client's representative : What's the progress on the new features?
Dev: You haven't mentioned any new features yet.
Client's representative: I don't care, it's been weeks now, here are more complex features, I need them tomorrow.
😕12 -
You know you are a dev when the first thing you do when you see something cool on a website is checking out the sourcecode to find out how they did it2
-
I consider myself a web developer for over 7 years.
Today, I learnt that http features a HEAD request.
Wut.5 -
Complains why the app is not done yet ...
Because you fucking keep coming up with new features and ask us to implement them immediately !!!??2 -
Deciphering 10-20 jira tickets that relate to 1 feature which aren't linked in anyway beyond titles spread throughout an epic or 2.
Ah the pain of having to go through 200 tickets to find everything you need for a single feature.7 -
Nearing the end of a project and the client starts requesting UI changes and new features...
Every. Damn. Time.8 -
Found this on Amazon.
For non-germans:
"Programmers don't make a mistake, they just create new Features!"5 -
Dear Product owners / Company Owners / Whoever requesting a feature:
Devs like to know they are adding value to whatever product they are working on. Every time you request a stupid no value added request, you kick the dev's soul.
After several hits the developer will stop caring about the software and eventually will get the job done, but oh boy, the amount of tech debt/trash code the dev is gonna leave behind will be horrendous.
Then the next developer, not only takes the hit from another stupid request, he/she will see the crappy code the past sad developer left and will take a double hit. Of course all of them start proactive and try to fix previous blood trails but sadness will catch them eventually.
If you want you're apps/products/reports to be good in a long run don't make stupid requests.
BAs, Stop being Expensive Email Forwarders and challenge a request, understand the process and then hand it to the developer.
Us developers are sensible cute ponies. Treat us well or expect poor quality projects8 -
Yesterday my employer banned the use of all wireless keyboards and mice due to security concerns. This applies to all employees, including our many remote employees (I wonder how they plan to enforce that). I’m trading in my nice quiet wireless keyboard for some Cherry MX blues to protest. I really liked my current keyboard and mouse too. RIP8
-
Many kudos to the guys behind devRant for incrementally adding features that actually work out of the box.3
-
I... can't... fucking... stop... adding... new... features... to my... personal... projects... Help.9

Launch that project as is... There is always room for improvement.

Nature of Startups
Sales executive go and sell the features which are not available in the product.
They come back and inform them to the manager, then the manager makes the request to dev team to do the features.
After all these the discussion will be made in the morning and delivery is expected by evening.5 -
"There is a problem in your selection of --ifconfig endpoints [local=10.8.0.40, remote=255.255.255.252]. The local and remote VPN endpoints must exist within the same 255.255.255.252 subnet. This is a limitation of --dev tun when used with the TAP-WIN32 driver."
WORKS PERFECTLY FINE ON MY ANDROID, AND ALL OF MY LINUX MACHINES!! Yet WanBLowS apparently needs special treatment again. AND WHAT FOR, HUH?!!! Motherfucking piece of fucking trash!!!3 -
There’s nothing like opening a legacy system you didn’t build and has for some reason lasted the turn of the century, only to add a new feature without breaking anything.....
Would have been nice if I had written that JS function before saving the other file 🙄
There’s nothing like building in production 💩 -

Do you guys know about the Windows 10 operating system?
I highly recommend it.
It is so easy to get done whatever you want in just a few clicks or.. several.
It has a great web browser called Internet Explorer that comes pre-installed with it. If you love animations, it will even sometimes show you that beautiful loading animation for as long as it wants. If you have a habit of wasting time on the Internet, it will intelligently slow things down and become unresponsive to help you get rid of that bad habit. It's just that great.
It has a lot of great features pre-enabled for you like sending data to Microsoft to improve your experience on a personal level. The operating system cares so much about you, unlike other operating systems that represent a flightless bird.
It's so smart, it even keeps you from doing stupid things like customizing the operating system. It makes sure that you live in the given box and don't break anything. So caring, right?!
At random times, it shows you a blue screen and a sad face to remind you that life can be sad at times but you gotta keep going. It is profound.
It comes with great useless software that you absolutely don't even need! How great is that!
I use Windows 10 and I recommend that you do too.
Have a good day..20 -

What do you look for in a programming language
People: features, syntax, runtime blah blah
Me: Active meme base -
Apple: rebranding our competitors features as brand new since we can't think of anything new. this keynote is making me so angry.1

"new features" - new spywares?
"You decide" - Yeah right.
"could take a little longer." - I KNOW THAT!random we know who actually decides same old shit i know a fun fact about square roots windows is gonna fuck some time -

Why the hell did it take youtube so freaking long to get a dark skin?
My eyes get killed without it @ 2am looking at a tutorial without a dark skin.
I have had a dark skin installed via userscript for over 5 years.
Now they need to implement some of the features youtube+ has...8 -
!rant (kind of)
I have the bad habit of suggesting "awesome" and "cool" features for projects and stuffs.. (Mostly just for fun and won't give a lot of value to the project, but would be cool). The less fun side.. I'm the only developer (in most cases..)
Me: Hey, wouldn't it be cool if the user could do this or that, or if this was implemented etc.. ?
Boss/Leader: Oh, hehe yeah, hmm.. *thinking* [a bit later] .. You're right, go ahead, implement that feature..
Me: .. Damnit..
But hey, on the bright side.. It's an extra feature! :D4 -
So, I got a ticket to make a page using a given wireframe that had submit buttons and other buttons to add more items in the wireframe.
So, I pull the html, hook up the abilty to submit the form and add items, and send it out for review.
One comment on the review.
"Remove the functionality, you'll handle it in the next ticket"
So I commented out the javascript. Guess what I'm doing on the next 10 minutes.1 -
This week's sprint:
Bugs that cannot be reproduced
Features that are vague as shit

At my job there is little to none documentation of the software. Software is from 2000 and updated since...
Imagine the features no one knows about.4 -

New "features" coming up in protonmail soon, and even some hidden ones :)16 -
Installing arch on VM of hyper-v,
Everything was working as expected.
But can't scroll at the end, commands entered are going below monitor output, need to use everytime "clear".
Thanks Windows, maybe it's feature🤔16 -
I hate it when customers add features or have changes all the time and my boss agrees with it. Might be small stuff but it piles up. I try to prioritize and work through the list, but just when I about to reach the end something is added or changed. It's frustrating and stressful.3
-
Apple please... I just love physical keys, and you just make a pointless touchbar...
I really don't know the position of a macbook pro. I guess mainly graphic designer or programmer will buy macbook pro, and the touch bar feature is a completely pointless to us.
Not to mention that you replace all the USB port to a really "popular type C USB"5 -
What is more terrifying than procrastinating on devRant?
Right, procrastination on devRant with ++ features :/1 -
Some feature suggestions:
- Customise order of tabs in new UI
- Highlighting of a rant's OP when browsing comments
- Update screenshots on Google Play & App Store2 -
Just some random thoughts looking at the soon-to-be new filtering feature.
Wouldn't it be nice if DevRant had a QR login like WhatsApp for easy login on desktop?
What about a "top rants" on profiles?
Oh what about an activity mosaic like GitHub's commit timeline?
Just some thoughts I had while punching my punching bag, it can get tedious.5 -
DevRant should have:
- a Personal Message system
- Gifs&Images in Comments
- 100% dark theme
- Edit function8 -
I wish clients knew what went into building custom features.
"Oh, you can't just turn it on?"
No...I have to write the gah damned feature FFS! -
There's little irritations that happen when working with clients over time that let you know that they're stuck in the past and definitely not the kind of client you want to have long term.
My personal favorite example:
"Can we put an icon that shows the weather on the banner of the website?"
Note: I don't make "websites," information portals, content pieces, etc.
It doesn't to matter what type of application it is; time tracking, HR, mortgage application, industrial control system, etc. I don't know why, but every single client I've ever had where I've been saddled with one or more people who have no business being anywhere near the term "stakeholder" asked for this stupid, banal, 1995 web portal fuckery. Their shitty little mushroom stamp contribution wasting everyone's time.
What's worse, they want it be prominent in the screen real estate. It can't just be a responsibly sized waste of space like the screenshot's top example (from a company whose entire business is weather, nonetheless). No, it has to be the busiest fucking thing in the control space, as in the example inferior.
Or maybe I'm just wrong and people desperately want to know if the sky is going to piss on them if they leave the cave.
Anyone else have a pet peeve in regards to recurrent, pointless functionality?2 -
My boss seems to have developed a super power where he can imagine features into existence.
I should investigate... -
DON'T INTRODUCE NEW FEATURES IN THE WIREFRAME, WHEN WE ALREADY DISCUSSED ALL THE FEATURES IN DETAIL4
-
Guy: A social network with some very special features that nobody else has.
Me: Okay. Let's discuss these features so I can write you a quote.
Guy: I can't talk about that until I know how much an app costs.
Commence an impasse over whether I can quote something without knowing the features. And yes, I tried explaining he should get a NDA. And no, a NDA wasn't good enough; I need to quote it without any knowledge of the features.1 -
You know what's fucking horrible?
Implementing new features to an Android app in production that another dev wrote...
...which has no architecture, no documentation, no modularity, no testability, everything runs on the UI thread, filled with spaghetti code and it somehow works smoothely so I have to not fuck it up.
Oh and I'm also a junior. So fuck me, right?1 -
My boss just said “as long as it puts a smile on the clients face, it’s worth examining, within reason.” Yeaaa that’s a bit broad... Some of our clients only smile when they have hookers and blow on hand. Is it reasonable to help them acquire such if it helps retain them as a customer?!3
-
Features suggestions:
1. When we type @ in the comment section it'll be nice to have autosuggest of users as we type. This will help not closing the comment and checking the spelling again and again.
2. Search available on basis of tags. Type in a tag you want to search about and get all rants/questions with that tag.14 -
Features that I'm looking forward to:
-profile pictures
-friends
-chat
-possibly a different color scheme?6 -
// PSA //
Please everybody, go to your Project/Product Manager, Product Owner or whoever thinks it is a good idea to sacrify the usability and speed of the software/product for sake of faster updates, solutions that are easier/simpler to develop and implement, or new features not even the users itself could think of. Thanks.2 -
Started working on my old idea about contact app... Looking for some good name... And found an app having 30% common features I was thinking about. :(
Not sure if taking patent is a good idea on rest of the features.6 -
When you work for a week day and night to compete a feature, because top management said it's the highest priority. Then when you're about to send it off to test, they tell you it is no longer required.2
-
I feel my first rant shall be about DevRant and not being able to access cool features (avatar) due to not having enough points.5
-
PM: I want the product to support this set of features.
Me: Which product?
PM: The one that will support this set of features.
Me: ...
PM: Also add some user login. -
So yeah. Just clicked "update" in Visual Studio. After 6 hours of waiting, it broke and had to wait an hour to repair it.6
-
Lesson learnt.
Never argue about any type of OS (Desktop or Mobile) when sitting between Devs. Be it about features or development.1 -
making 3 branches because the client can't make an app logic changing decision while he still demands big features 😒1
-
if(isset($form_state['concert_fieldset_container'][$key]['concert_fieldset']['broadcasting_fieldset']['features']['comments_conditions']) && !empty($form_state['concert_fieldset_container'][$key]['concert_fieldset']['broadcasting_fieldset']['features']['comments_conditions'])) {
$variables['concerts'][$key]['field_concert_comment_conditions']['value'] = $form_state['concert_fieldset_container'][$key]['concert_fieldset']['broadcasting_fieldset']['features']['comments_conditions'];
$variables['concerts'][$key]['field_concert_comment_conditions']['fieldDefinition']['label'] = $this->give_label($type, 'field_concert_comment_conditions');
}
THIS SHOULD BE ILLEGAL! FUCKING BURN DRUPAL TO ASHES AND SHIT ON THE TOP OF IT!!
God fucking damnit 3 months left before I leave this place.7 -
Ah, when you run into a bug that only has 7 google results, and have of them is in Russian for some reason. Gonna be a long day.5
-
Did the latest Windows 10 update fix it so that all your startup apps open before you login?
If so, why don't they mention that in the marketing literature? That's far more impactful to most people than some tab feature in their web browser that only old people use.1 -
Wouldn't it be cool if you could add your favorite ranters as "friends" or something like that?
I also would welcome some feature like a personal chat personal with other ranters.
Just a few ideas.7 -
It's always a good day at work when you can leave knowing that you were able to implement several working features.1
-
Happy days, yesterday we updated form 16.3 to 16.4 and thanks to them fixing the bug in 'getDerivedStateFromProps' my broken code is now breaking.
Don't you just love it when features inadvertently depend on bugs. The entire component ONLY worked properly because of a react bug.3 -
Pm: we need to add a feature to the app, how long will it take you?
Me: what is this "feature"?
Pm: we still polishing the idea, how long will it take you to add a feature to the app?
Me: bitch wtf? Get back to work!! -
So, I recently added a new feature to our app which allows the user to rotate/crop the image before being uploaded to our server, and we have an option to upload pdfs as well, so when I gave this feature (rotate/crop image) out for testing, the tester in our organization tells me where's the option to rotate the pdf? And I'm like where have you seen someone rotating a pdf? He's like that's the reason why we need to have it. And now the PM wants me to add that in the next release, after explaining them for 30 mins that pdfs don't rotate, they tell me to do a proper research on it and then revert. 🙃4
-
Nothing destroys work flow like management idiots deciding on features and design that they just pulled out of their asses.6
-
Story of a data scientist 😞
Spends 80% of the time trying to identify features, while the rest 20% worrying about identifying the features 😭1 -
Windows... Thou art a fickle mistress...
How dost thou survive the most deadly code written by the most wearied devs yet cannot survive the adding of one of thine own features using thine own "turn windows features on or off"?
Thine face now turns blue each time thou art awakend only to again enter the sleep like death.
Leaving naught but the riddle of "service_critical_failure" each time before departing to the realm of dreams.2 -
If I could, I'd attempt to create an ideal language. I'd aspire that its features would be:
-The easyiness of Python
-The library ecosystem of Javascript
-The readability and cross- platformness of Java
-Functional features of Haskell
-Modularity of Lisp
-Low level features of C/C++
-Powerful with strings and data, like Perl
-Both compiled and interpreted, with REPL
Anything missing from your favorite languages?9 -
Unexpectedly a feature status changed to disabled:
"It doesnt matter. If nobody noticed, it means that nobody is using it."
After that my point of view is:
Just because you dont use your Car Airbag everyday, it doesnt allow your mechanic to keep it disabled. -
If you're reviewing someone's code, do you run/test the code before reviewing the logic? Or do you review logic before running the code?4
-
Users have use cases, test cases, user manual etc documented material with them at the time of UAT.
But in the end users do only those things which they don't suppose to do..!! 😑😥1 -
Simply walking. While walking I'm getting many ideas how to implement my features/changes. Especially when they are interesting.
-
When you're trying to go to sleep, but the requested features are calling your name.
😔😟😣😫
I just wanna sleep for once!!!1 -
I find it funny that core software from major companies has such bad bugs or flaws. With large development teams and QA they still get through, yet a bug half as bad on a system for a customer developed by a small team, we get a roasting for it!1
-
Is the past repeating itself? Am I in that situation again where I, as a junior developer, is left to my own devices on a project, with no code reviews, and with features being added/changed as they wish? 😟1

(TL;DR at bottom)
Does anyone else feel that modern GUI's or webpages or anything thats 2-D and modernized, just seem to contain 10x less data that old interfaces.
Disclaimer: First time uploading picture, idk how it will go)
Let's say Google's Inbox, compared to the old Gmail interface... (In attached picture)
I am the only one annoyed by this?
I really like the look and everything and I love modern designs, but please please, keep the functionality there. I just feel like there is 10x less options to do when I see a system converted to a new modernized design. Even YouTube look ugly now, that I am convinced there are about 10 buttons less under each video.
(New <-> Old in attached picture)
Thinking objectively, all of the buttons are still there, but from other experiences, I just always get discouraged when I see a product with a minimalistic design, and am immediately turned away from it, expecting that I wont have any sort of ability to customize my settings.
If you say that fancier GUI's take too much work to make all he settings, the fucking don't make a modern GUI... I want something I can tailor to my needs... There is always a good line in between, just like "old" youtube's design...
Maybe thats why I hated LastPass with it's fancy GUI's and instead preferred KeePass for my passwords...
As promised:
TL;DR
Anyone else hate modern GUI's since they usually lack features?3 -
How difficult would it be to change the Android app to use a left to right swipe to go back to the rant index, rather than/in addition to the left arrow or X?2
-
leaving work place > stay to finish important feature > on second thought we don't need this feature

CSS4 seems to add some cool features. But my favourite will be the new color declaration. What is yours?3

Wow! OS/Browser stats for the past 40 days on heavens-above.com (astro db, not religion). Features IE4, Netscape, WinNT and 98!

A certain app I use occasionally has some premium features that I have been too cheap to buy. Just found the full source code on GitHub. An hour later I have all the premium features for free. Stealing? Nah, my conscious is clear.
To all indie devs out there: if you have paid features, don't make the app open source.11 -

Why Android uses so many quirky features in Java, like inner and anonymous classes, callbacks and nested generics?
I searched everywhere for the reason but can't find why, only how.
I rarely use these features outside of Android development.4 -
What progress have you made?
Well today we hand crafted ... a new lie about the apps we are writing. Customers should eat this one up.
Good, good.

VS Code ships so many features with every release that I'm having diificulties keeping track of all cool stuff1

Did you hear the upcoming features?
1. Video Rants,
2. Boomerang Rants,
3. Live Streaming via Google glasses3 -
Clients asking for features in a prorecord schedule and budget... "Facebook have it. It is not that hard"

F U browser vendors!
Why is it, that we have specifications for HTML, JS, CSS, etc and we have browsers for more, than 10 years now AND THEY STILL CANNOT MAKE SOMETHING CONSISTENT THROUGHOUT EVERY PLATFORM!
An event is not being triggered somewhere? No problemo. An extra event there? Nay, still okay. Inconsistent state for the same operation on different platforms? Cool, simply cool!
But instead of fixing these shitty things, they introduce bullshit on top of this, like a media element requiring a user interaction to be able to play content.4 -
The sole reason for me not wanting to continue tinkering with the awesome features of Android SDK is Java.
-
Sometimes a poorly planned project makes coding a lot harder especially if features and UI/UX always changes 😭
-
With all of those change request features, I might as well charge you by the bytes in my node_modules alone.1
-
Question, !rant
To all my fellow Java devs, what are some things that have come out in JDK8 and JDK9 that you think are the most useful?
I know very little about the new features, but after learning about lambdas I wondered what other golden nuggets there might be. Thanks in advance!1 -
Having co-workers that understand to not sacrifice quality over shipping features as fast as possible.

Doing a language learning app, and doing other interesting managing apps. Totally free to do it my way, and get the job done. Except when my boss who can't even setup his email on his iPhone shows up, asking me to add features that would turn the app structure upside down, and also to deviate from programming to focus on content. The content of a language app, I mean, am I a language teacher now?
I was so excited to start this new project, but I'm stuck with useless chores that I know are useless and never see the daylight -
When a designer walks into your office and asks you to turn on a feature that is not ready for production...1

Big big feature came in and a very very tough deadline on it.
It’s pretty heavy on the backend and I’m currently the only backend engineer. Will be 100% busy the next few weeks.
And I love it 😁
I missed the stress.
Stress gives me the drive I need.2 -
* Finishes requested features and starts polishing
* Gets email that asks for new features
* New features require some change that requires me to rewrite what I just finished

AV heuristics toggle alarms on a program I created. I did not know that I integrated some virus features. Lovely.1

Okay so kotlin is basically just scala with some of the features removed and nobody can change my mind.1
-
@dfox @trogus, could you add more profile backgrounds?
If so, a gray one would be nice for me.
Perhaps letting users upload pictures for their profile could add more customisability (for the background I mean, love the avatars).3 -
want to release MVP in 1 week, lets add more fucking features and change this and that.. fuckin hell1

I have never encountered a better wrapper for graphical remote access than remmina. I have yet to find one for Mac that I really like, and I haven't found one for Windows that I like at all.
I have used chicken and finder's built-in client, but neither particularly impress me. Do you have one for Mac that you swear by?4 -
The chief came with a new idea.. something that runs ‘a side’ of our main project as some sort of manager. The database wasn’t designed with that in mind..
Now I’m wondering if I’m having issues because I could’ve designed the database better so that this wouldn’t be an issue or if I shouldn’t “blame” myself, because that wasn’t the initial idea. 🤷🏻♂️
We had to do a lot of migrations to keep adding and changing for the “new ideas” and now the database is a mess.. but it’s like.. too “big” to just start a new clean database structure, but it could optimize everything and make the backend easier/cleaner instead of dirty hacks/queries to combine all the different features.
As a ‘bad’ example, but the idea started as a todo list, migrated to a social network and is now migrating to something like smartschool to be able to manage users and groups, but with different features than the ‘social network’ had... I’m wondering what’s next..2 -
...when your project TODO list is growing exponentially and you just give up tracking new ideas/feature requests
;(1 -
does anyone else find it ironic that github (used for the development of open source, free software) has paid features?6

*Triggers OAuth request through browser
Returns : success and valid tokens.
*Another project triggers the same process and code.
Returns : well shit nigga, I know I use the same logic as above but fuck you. -
What features of visual studio are so great? I keep hearing about VS Code, and I'm finally going to try it for my next project. What features do I need to be amazed by and converted?12

At the place I intern, we're managing a project that's quite old (about 8 years). There's a specification document that discusses features but the mentioned stuff has been subject to incremental changes over the years so that these documents no longer fully discuss exact specifications of a particular feature. I'm curious on how you keep track of such incremental changes to a feature? Do you update the specification document with the new requirement document or is there some other way to do it?1

It's hard to remember someone's name here on devrant at times when trying to reply. I wish there was a feature that started to auto fill in the name. @dfox5
-
Who here, fellow programmers are using a feature / toggle flags services in their projects or company products?5
-
@dfox curious about the decision making process behind what happens when you +1 something you've already -1'd and vice versa. Currently it jumps up two points instead of going to 0 and then giving you the opportunity to vote again if you wanted.
Is this likely to change? If not, why this way?5 -
I was just thinking that bookmarking a rant could be a good feature for this community. 😁
I came across some rants with info I wanted to check later, but no way to save the rant anywhere. I just saved the links to a text file for now.2 -
So after 8 months of stopping the development of a web app, the client decided to start pushing it for usage.
8 months ago I was almost begging him to do some testing, so I could gather some feedback and fix any issues. That, of course, never happened.
Yesterday just before leaving work I received a meeting invitation and an e-mail. Apparently the app wasn't at the "expected level given its development time". I also got another e-mail with change requests.
Someone will be getting some virtual middle fingers during the meeting... -
Spent 2 days hacking a plugin to make something work, and I thought I'm a genius when it's done. Lastly PM said not to go with that feature as it doesn't work on Firefox and IE!
-
So many great features, that don't get adopted by the web. For example CSS4 "subject of a selector" or ES6 "import/export". What dead features do you miss most?

I'm trying to set value of a kendo js property using value from dB. I would like to do something similar to

But I can't use template for what I'm trying to set -
God fuckin dammit, I swear to heaven if this bitch ass code returns IO.Exception file is being used blah blah blah even though I'm using filestream and streamwriter. I will lose my shit in this fucking office1

That moment when you realise that your boss is not understanding anything about development and cancel all features... :|
-
Why do you use devRant?
Do you want to add/remove any features to/from devRant?
If yes, what are those features?15 -
Just came from professional school (is it correct? - school during apprenticeship), I have to develop some features for a project - and finish writing the documentation and User Manual .. but.. but.. first I need a coffee - a Big coffee :D

There are exactly zero developer driven features in osx, sans the terminal. Can anyone disagree? It is the least developer friendly os there is.1

Repost maybe?
Convince me that either gitlab, or github is better.
I like some of the features on gitlab, but some of my integrations don't work for gitlab.3 -

What are some features of an IDE, which I can not have when using a text editor? More precisely why should I use Visual Studio, instead of VS Code or Atom?5

*generic, flaming hyperbole about software lacking preferred features*
*over-glorifying opinion on preferred software and its superior implementations of features offered by hated product*
*generic user*
*actually employee of software #2's company* -
Remember, marketing does not want a better product. They just want dumber customers. So no need to push more features.1

So i was wondering...
According to programmer, what features would the perfect backup software have ? 🤔🤔6 -
