Happiness is being home at Friday evening, having a few special beers, doing server setup/stuffs with good music on and genuinely loving what you're doing!14
-
The past 2 years where I work:
Me: hey let's use git instead of ftp!
Boss: should we?
Some time later: he is loving it...
Me: hey let's use trello instead of excell!!??!
Boss: huumm.. Dunno... Should we?
After much convincing: whole departments are using and loving it....
Me: hey let's move from rackspace to DO!
Boss: huumm... Convince me...
Year latter: everything smooth and muuuch lower prices... Managing 6 servers instead of one...
Me: UNIT TESTS!!!
Boss: nah, this but a waste of time...
For real? Get a grip man, I only encourage solutions tested ( no pun intended, or is it ) by me for a long time...4 -
Asked Google Assistant what it knew about me. Didn't expect this answer but surprisingly point on.
All that neural and machine learning is paying off in a seriously creepy way.
BTW new to the community, first post and loving it!9 -
Kind of sad but true.
1) "If you don't love your job, take a home loan".
You will start loving it.
2) Take another loan, you will start loving your boss as well.
3) Get married. You will start loving your office too.

But can't stop anyone from ranting. :/1 -
!rant
Quite the opposite of a Rant actually. Very good day today! Had pancakes to start the day, finally got a second monitor for only 5 bucks - it is so much easier to program with live change monitoring!
And, I finally got my very own server rack :) just wanted to share!10 -
I wrote a piece of code. A logic. My senior changed it. And.. I am glad she did.
My descriptive variables and her conditional breakup of logic made up for a very beautiful piece of code. Simple and elegant. So much so that it makes total sense without any need of a comment.
Never thought I would be loving a 5-lines code piece this much.
This is one of those days when collaboration happens for the betterment.
Simply. Beautiful.4 -
What the shit!!!
At 11:00
While studying
"ah... I'm sleepy, can't tolerate any more", and just go to bed.
At 11:05
While scrolling rants
"hahaha... So true, same happened with me.. bla bla...."
At 12:47
Doing same thing from last 1 hour 40 mins
Even not sleepy yet!!!
It's too addictive. Having so much good posts, much better than fb feeds.... Loving the rants... New experience3 -
Behold the power of unoptimazation;

I really love how devrant changed from a "place where developer s could post rants about technology " to " A loving , considerate , helping out place where every dev is welcome "4
-
Visual Studio Code is taking over the world. Every Google Dev I see is using it, especially for angular/node.
Bdw, I've been using it (T'S) for the past 24 and I'm loving it.
Never thought I'd say this for anything Microsoft. 😂16 -

Learning Processing and Generative Art , still a Noob but loving it.
It's awesome what Code can do.16 -
It is with a heavy heart that I said aufwiedersehen to my mom last night. She passed peacefully in her sleep, and is now resting in the fields and forests of heaven. She was born in 1932 in Hamburg, Germany, and at age 7 the world around her exploded into one of the most horrific wars that Europe or the world had seen up to that time. By the time it was over, she was thirteen, and had spent many of her formative years witnessing how low humanity can get in the treatement of fellow humans. She survived the post-war years, and came to the US in the late 1950's, and met my dad while in nursing school. She had four chidren, Tim, Chris, Tanya, and myself. She was a doting and caring mom, who dedicated herself to raising her children. She loved to cook, loved animals, especially dogs, and love human beings in general, and had a compassionate and kind heart. There is a small, empty space in the world that she filled, but heaven is a little brighter with her smile and her laughter. I miss you mom, but I know I will see you again some day. Aufwiedersehen, lieber Mutti! Wir sehen uns bald.15

Me and My designer friend created a chrome extension, He designed the UI in like 10Mins and It took me 4 sleepless weekends to make it to v0.1 launch. It's hurts when people only say *pleasant UI, loving it* and all shit. 😒 I'm totally shroooved 😷4 -
I GOT A PROPER DEV ROLE!!
The days of bemoaning the quality of devs on a product and logging tickets that never get addressed are coming to an end!
Edited: autocorrect changed it to "loving", somewhat optimistically7 -
Loving the ++ / -- buttons! I was happy to see that change rolled out this morning.
Keep up the great work guys!1 -
An idea for a romantic gesture to my python loving girlfriend
ill make a library with poems I wrote for her and other nice stuff
upload it to pip and call it by her name
now you can pip install it
every time you do import "her name"
it will write out a poem about her
what do you think?12 -
My food-loving other half just said this to me:
Her: "I love you more than pie"
Me: "Aww, that's nice"
Her: "I love you 4.173692 out of 10"
Me: "..."5 -
Loving the avatar feature on devrant- just two suggedtions:
-Dual and triple monitor setup
-Different body shapes- I appreciate the optimism, @dfox, but I sure as hell ain't cut like that.7 -
Using Ubuntu for the first time on my new XPS-13 Dev. Ed.
I'm loving the OS but it sure is frustrating. Can't even get Spotify to download -.-27 -

I'm so so happy to have joined devRant: it gave me lots of motivation to work on my personal projects. In the last two days I worked more on an old dream/project than I did in the last year. TWO. DAYS.
Don't know for how long this motivation will last, but - for now - thank you so much, people :')3 -
This my friends is Chrome (build Canary).

Got Ubuntu on my laptop for traveling 😁😁 Loving it, once I got Numix theme installed I loved it even more 😋
No one in my classes have ever heard about Linux or Ubuntu until they met me.8 -
Just got a job as a junior PHP dev. Company is really chill as long as the work gets done. I can learn a lot here, and I am doing backend stuff mostly.
Got a great PC with 2 big screens and Ubuntu freshly installed by me.
Loving it so far!4 -

My father-in-law wants me to buy a new computer for him. He's currently using an old Acer minitower running more malware than real software on shitty Windows Vista. He only uses Email (Outlook 2003), Facebook and Youtube. I'm gonna get him a MSI Cubi Intel N3700/4GB/120GB SSD with Linux Mint and problem solved. No more malware/virus calls from him. I'm installing Mint on Vbox right now and I'm loving it from second 0.16 -
I stopped caring about managers loving endless meetings and priority shifts.
They pay me to attend to meetings.
I'll give them what they want.
But if they ask me if the feature is done, I make them attend a meeting for that.3 -
I recently broke up with my boyfriend of more than two years (we have known each other for more than four). My code (and my work in general) seems to have gotten better. Maybe because he's not always at the back of my mind. No matter what anyone says, long distance WILL take a toll on you if you don't meet the other person for more than a year. Nope. Nope. Nope. I'm loving the single life now and feel so much more confident about myself!14
-
Absolutely loving the Slim 3 PHP framework. It's extremely simple, fast, and easily extensible. And nice use of dependency container.

So I finally decided to get a theme for sublime (And other packages). I'm loving it. Post your IDE/Text editors or whatever you use to code.32

I've learned A TON creating my own very basic PHP framework. I'm using it for basic personal small projects (login system, simple functionality) and I'm loving it. The customization makes specific repetitive tasks so much easier.
Don't get it twisted, I use Laravel and Symfony much more (and Javascript) but I would definitely recommend anyone to do it just for the learning experience.9 -
Learning Rust and I’m loving the process. I haven’t been this excited to learn a language since c++ years ago!3

Hey Python, why in the ever loving readability universe I can't break the following command across multiple lines?
df.replace(...).apply(...).reset_index().drop(...)
Oh, but I hear you say "Hitko, why you can break it into multiple lines if you break within brackets!"
To which I ask you, does this shit look any more readable?
df.replace(...
).apply(...
).reset_index(
).drop(...)15 -
I installed Arch Linux and IM LOVING IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The previous manager bought an expensive enterprise level cms with 0 support and documentacion for doing shit, for which the only ninja that knows how to operate it is our cms admin.
And I saw this person posting shit on her instagram about loving wordpress.
Wish your ass would've known about it before you got us this 58k pos system...
Say whatever the fuck you want about wordpress, yeh its fucky, but not fucky AND expensive........8 -

Anyone else taking Harvard's CS50 via edX? It's so awesome! You get a better understanding of Computer Science and stuff. I'm loving C! It feels so close to communicating with the machine. Memory allocation fascinates me, too. Is this why it's fast? If you feel like you're lacking with the CS fundamentals although you can build apps or websites already, I recommend this. This is better than my whole years in college!9
-
@dFox really loving devRant, but I feel like the site should require text with picture posts or something. Noticed a trend where people are just using this as a meme aggregator instead of rant site.
Myself and many others try to give context to memes for ranting purposes, but I'm noticing some users are clearly after up votes.14 -
Loving the absolute chaos just been caused by Meta shitting itself 😂 apart from the fact I've just had about 5 texts from family asking me to fix it 🤦14
-
Not really a rant.
When you start learning a new prog paradigm focused on a particular branch of math and then see it being used to solve a sudoku puzzle in 3 lines of code. Well, that shit changes you and makes you wonder how much shit in the field we don't focus in for being too concerned with everythingPython and everythingNode
Brain is mush but I am loving this shit.9 -
Really loving the instant legacy code being added to our new project by devs who think they are too good to follow our peer review process, yum... today I found out that there are two different implementations of an API endpoint that does the same thing running in prod, in two different places, because the guy who wrote the second one wasn't aware that the first one existed and didn't let a second developer look at it before he pushed it to master.7

I'm loving my new job. Not for the salary or perks. Just for the simple fact that my developing opinions it's been taking in consideration!1

I am loving this week’s topic.
So many people see their alternate profession as simply following passion and becoming an artist.
The art of teaching, or making food, or producing music, or making things, and so on..
We are so different in our artistic capabilities yet so similar in our professions.
Divided by lakhs of factors, united by love for ranting.
Let the passions not die out!
Cheers! 🥂5 -
I got kicked out of university (geology) because my credits ran out. I just wanted to choose the course with highest employment rate, so i chose applied computer sciences at college. Without any experience with computers i started it!

Really loving Processing and HYPE.
Created this Image after a day's work. Here is 10x10 pixel block is an image of Mohanlal (An awesome actor from kerala).
I took the average color of each block and then matched it with the most dominant color of the sample images. And then drew the sample image onto that box.
Thanks Daniel Shiffman for the inspiration.5 -
Why is everyone copying Snapchat? First Instagram stories and now the whole FB Messenger is basically a cheap clone.

This is so real, people are having a bad time because of the covid-19, productivity could be affected by this, my colleagues are having a hard time since they cant realy separate work from work anymore, the situation is hard as it is, i hope we all get through this.
Please Give Loving Comments below so i can show this to my dev/non dev friends that are having a hard time.11 -
I'm really loving Facebook's new design standards they fit so well their latest marketing and rebranding pipe dream to be viewed as a company that respects privacy.
They don't have to protect your info if you can't submit it 😂 -
Got ncmpcpp/cava/mpd working! (if you're wondering why it's ubuntu, just read a few rants ago :'^> ) and loving it. i gues i'll just open this up for people to post rices or any sort of pretty config. i still shill arch, just not if you like steam and have an nvidia graphics card! i'm in school and i don't really have time to sit down and learn what i broke and how to fix it, even if its a minor issue.8

I was good at school, I was and I'm still loving video games. I wanted to create my video games. Now I like robots and I'm learning how to create robots. I could say : programming allowed me to build and personnalize the things I liked in my life. And I found who I am. I love to create.
-
I am now using my DevRant avatar for all my online profiles. No more ugly professional/fun pictures of me around the internet.

Is it just me or JavaScript on the browser really has become over complicated then it should be? It’s way overkill for the job that it’s supposed to do. Every time I hear about these new frameworks and I see the guys just loving it I cringe so hard, I want to say something then I stop because they are loving it sooo much. It’s a disaster I hate looking at the front end it’s a huge pile of fancy shit.6
-
There's a group of people at my work who have mean girls syndrome.
They think they're cool, but they're actually pretty lame. I'm loving it whenever a junior comes to me because they're fed up with these morons.
Don't get me wrong, I can't do fuckall, but I love to sit and watch the world burn. Hell, I'm waiting for end of contract to get away from this hellhole of a job, this shitty small town and its close-minded people.11 -
Who else is loving the twitter dumpster fire? He threatens to fire the devs if they don't roll out the verified account to anyone willing to pay.

So, maybe 6 hours ago or so, I was randomly browsing Github and stuff, came across https://git.io/vABiT in the Trending page. "Hell yeah, I'd go for some swag".
Started looking through them all, eventually found myself here on devRant. Instantly fell in love, it's the perfect mix of jokes, puns, and rants. Now it's 5 AM and I've got work at 10... Worth it, for sure!
Anyways, hello guys, glad to have found this place, really loving the feel of it all.3 -
everything was going great, I was loving it,
then self happens
why should one pass self (current object refrance) to the constructor in python , why doesn't this keyword exist in python.
coming from java I always forget to add it.
just WHY?????9 -
I'm loving the bootcamp I'm in so far. I know I won't be a whiz kid once I'm done, but it gives me a great start for my career change! You'll only be as successful as the work you put into coding. Practice makes better as time goes on!2

Wanted to test whether my card worked online or not (was having some issues with it) and decided to try becoming a devRant supporter, and it worked!
Gotta say, I feel really happy to be able to give back to devRant and show my support by doing something as small as this. Loving the darker theme too.
Thanks for everything so far, devRant, and happy to be a supporter. -
So I was on a .NET project for a couple of months, then went to a Angular 6 project, now I'm starting on a PHP project.
I'm just loving these past few months. -
Moved one of my Java projects to Gitlab. Really loving the Auto DevOps and CI. Currently not missing GitHub.

Just got my first job as a junior front-end developer. I am currently working on coding emails and holy crap trying to code for all different email clients. Never thought each client rendered stuff differently. (Outlook is the worst!)
But I am loving the job!5 -
So, I had a Windows update left (I'm not a fan of windows but updates are important!)

Hey @dfox and @trogus, I finally listened to your podthing today, and it was great. Andy Hunt is such an entertaining speaker and you both kept up well as hosts. I'm loving the quick fire questions; I feel like you can learn a lot about a person by how they answer those! Looking forward to S01E02.3

I really loving coding but i cant stand people that take coding for granted, theres no single way to code there are a lot of ways to make a single function work and you can code it in different ways, i hate it when people dont use their imagination, in coding you dictate what you want to do, thats the power of coding1
-
Receiving so much negativity about being a developer, but is this the legacy we are trying to put out there for upcoming devs, most are us are introverts with or without being devs, antisocial to our very core, so why don't we face out this sadistic outward appearance and embrace the very mini gods we were created to be and make the very best of it and oh I have a wonderful social life with a loving and caring companion, my laptop.4

New boss just gave me access to pluralsight, and i'm loving it! Can't wait to get going this fall. 😀1

Pet peeve of the day: Open source software that shouts about all the benefits of being freely available to everyone, open, loving the community, etc. - but the moment you install it you have to jump through a bunch of hoops to avoid making a hefty donation or buying a license.
If you're aiming to be a corporate overlord, at least admit to it and don't play all your marketing on the open source aspect.2 -
I fucking hate SO ! No sense of gratitude at all.. :/ Fucking arrogant fucker's ..One thing I've realised during answering question's in SO..It's like a bitch ! You should bang and throw it,shouldn't think about loving it.10

I can’t believe I didn’t try this whole remote contractor thing sooner.4 -
JetBrains Fleet sucks!
It's absolutely gorgeous but it sucks, technically. I mean did nobody try to edit a YAML file with 2 spaces indent in there during development??
I wasn't even able to open a fucking project with it one time. And why in gods name does it go full macos with it's design?
Loving their IDEs, but da fuck's going on with this?14 -

But today, on my third try, I defeated a 1100 ELO bot! First time I lost, second time it caught me and forced stalemate, third time I won!
I feel fantastic!3 -
Some days I hate my work - other days I love it. Usually what happens is I make some poor decision that I have to live with and get super angry with myself, feel my colleagues are disappointed, go home, feel sad, sleep, go back, talk to them about it and try to learn from my mistakes - and then I'm back at loving work. Repeat. Software development is so much more than writing code.
-
After a month of loving git, I finally got into an irreversible git mess yesterday. Spent all night rewriting last two days of code. I feel like a real programmer 😋
Seriously though, I'm gonna take backups a lot more frequently now onwards.2 -
So after a couple of days of playing around, I just finished the larger part of a program that my new boss wants in C# (which is new to me). So far I'm really loving the wide variety of functions, but I'm struggling to get used to the fact that everything in the ASP.net part gets "processed" (like using BuildForn to create a form tag instead of just typing the HTML) and it just slows down the process a bit 😂2
-
Anyone else watching the HD remaster of Star Trek: TNG on Netflix and thinking, "that Holodeck should have had some unit tests!"
Also: what's with the passwords being short spoken phrases that can be recorded and played back? Have they not heard of 2FA in Starfleet?
1/10 totally unwatchable (just kidding, I'm loving it)3 -
Well I'm new to MacBook and it's OS, for like 1.5 months now, got pretty much hands on it to have my command over it. And as of now i am loving it ( since i came from Windows) judge me for it if you want to..🙄
Can you guys suggest some **MUST HAVE** tools/ programs/ apps, related or non-related to a programmer to make life easy on OSX?7 -
Sooo as someone that just started using photoshop (got it for free at work) i can see the benefits of it for actual design. But are there any ways to convert to an actual web page other than by just sucking it up and going through the code by design? I see no much difference than looking at a shit of paper with a drawing of something and coding it. Am I missing something? Mind you I do know how to code, sure I am lacking in the design dpmnt ( more of a backend / mobile dev)7
-
Finally learned what cygwin is for, and how to use it so I'm finally loving it. I can actually develop on Windows! 😀😀5
-
My worst habit(?) is probably loving to "waste" time, making api uri builders.
so I can chain a couple of methods instead of just typing out an uri :p -
Just found a pokemon flavoured version of cow say! Http://github.com/possatti/... - loving your work possatti!

New upgrade of kernel 4.12 just awesome but startup is very slow. I am experiencing this shit in my centos7. Overall there is an improvement in I/O. Loving new kernel.

Anyone else loving solarized? Loving it so much that you try to use #002b36 when ever possible? I've even changed my corporates backgrounds colors to fit. Using it for years now and still in love. -
Oh gosh! Installed miui rom in eui rom of leeco le2 😋 it's even more stable than stock eui rom. God m loving it.😍 Feeling of owning a new phone. 😎5

I just installed Linux mint. I'm loving it. I always used Windows. Which packages should I install or what should I do with it that Windows or other OS can't do?14

Thank you KDE for setting alt+F4 by default, my brother did not have tons of fun closing my eidtors and it did not take me 15 Minutes to find the setting (┛◉Д◉)┛┻━┻

I'm loving Firefox quantum, but I really wish the firegestures dev would update to 57+. Turns out I am really, really dependent on gestures.
-
I worked hard to learn it so I can impress and then ended up loving way too much that it became my career.
-
I'm working real hard for my studies and I'm loving it because I'm getting the results. However, friends keep on telling me how I'll regret that later and that this is my only youth etc...
I don't know if what I'm doing is right, the idea to waste a period is scary, but also I really want to succeed to be good in CS later on ...3 -
Area: oil & gas
Full time job: SCADA apps, network comms, real time database;
Part time job: drilling app for geologist engineers, real time data acquisition, lots of math calculations and simulations;
I'm loving both jobs, because of working with external acquisition devices, because of freedom of work and complexity of the field. -
I started when I was about 7 years old. My dad was an entrepreneur and had a programmer working for him who was coding in the Commodore VIC20. That man gave me some books and since then I was hooked. Started my professional career when I was 16 (now 37), all self taught and got a very solid education as well throughout the years after 16 untill now. I just can't stop loving it.

Attempted to install MetaTrader 5 with wine on linux, loving the irony of "... please install using Window 7 ... trading requires maximum security" bahaha4

Finished my first week in my new DevOps Engineer role. Feels good, and I'm loving the change of pace.1 -

Loving FiraCode! Amazing how a simple editor font change can make a huge difference in the programming experience.1
-
I just switched to Linux Mint with a KDE desktop environment on my laptop since a friend recommended it and I'm loving it so far!
Edit: was previously using manjaro, I am equally loving both as of now. -
I can’t describe how good it feels to have a project again.
And the pain of having a bug that I literally can’t fucking solve for hours even after asking for help which fucking sucked cause that was a waste of time to only realize it was because I WAS USING THE WRONG ACCESS MODIFIER is immense and fucking euphoric when I figure it out and I can clear all my browser tabs and don’t have to stare at that same fucking error again.
I’m just having a really good time with it and watching it grow. -
OK - so I have a new job which I am loving but I am needing to use a Mac book which is a little frustrating. Coming from Linux with I3wm I have stuff just so.
The biggest change I miss is that I can't hover the mouse over windows to give them focus. Also middle click pasting would be awesome. Does anyone have any advice / solutions to make me feel at home? -
Slowly adapting Go to some microservices projects I have. Shit is intuitive as fuck and I believe it has to do with what lil knowledge I had of working with C back in uni and by myself. For the web Go fits quite nicely. Really loving my time working with this language.
Now, if i could somehow throw it into the mix at work and build something with it it would be quite fun.1 -
!rant Just letting it out !
From my childhood days I never used to make it a habit to remember our house address as we used to change it often.
My father was the eldest in our family and he took care of his siblings. One younger brother got a nice job and was financially sound to own a house, and we were still a joint family for some time. After a year or so my father was insulted and he moved out in a fit of rage and for ~20 years we have hopped around from one place to another.
This week I will be moving in to my new house along with my parents. Hope I will remember this address forever. -
I was taught Perl and Java in just under 3 months during my Master's in Computational Biology which fueled a dislike towards these, so I self-taught myself Python and JavaScript in my free time and loving life now!1

LOVING FUCKING SSDs IN OLD LAPTOPS I WILL USE THIS THING FOR LONGER NOW !!!1!2 -

Woow I am amazed. Just started learning c# in combination with Unity and I am already loving it. It is much like Java so for me it is easy to understand and it works increddibly well with callbacks and getters / setters!1 -
Tody I finally decided to go Google free in my device. Now I have 0 Google services in my phone and so far I'm loving it.
All apks can be found on apkmirror and f-droid but devRant is not available on any of those platforms so I have to restore my previous backed up apk from playstore.
Yeah and I'm not on any socialmedia whatsoever like FaceCrap and InstaHeadache. Feels like my phone would last for 2 days on single charge.2 -
Having a look at electron again after giving up on it months ago.
I must say, the documentation has improved a lot since then, and it looks---dare I say---intuitive to use?
The electron api demos app is surely some help, but I'm not really all that sure how much it lives up to its name. It doesn't really demonstrate anything, and it doesn't cover the whole api, just small chunks of it.
Loving the event system though!12 -
Hello all! New to the group, loving it so far, it seems to be a very collectively nerdy, and delightful group of devs here. I found this article to be a vastly enlightening read, for those who love the shell, but also for those who tend to shy away from the shell, this is worth the read. I've enhanced my productivity significantly and not to mention making the shell quite aesthetically pleasing. http://jilles.me/badassify-your-ter....3

I'm in my first year of college, it's so much work and I just feel so tired but I'm really loving it (I just get bothered by how my classmates talk so much BS on our whatsapp group). nothing like some dig dug to relax2

Spreading love for devRant amongst dev Mates in India; mates are Living and Loving it.
Cheers @dfox and @trogus3 -
Installed iOS 12 beta 1.
OBVIOUSLY it’s buggy, but as an early adopter I’m fine with that.
I’m loving the hugely enhanced privacy measures and the “screen time” feature which really breaks down your device usage into tangible data bites. It’s depressing to me when I see how often I pickup my phone, how often I’m on it, how many notifications an hour I get etc.
I’m really going to take advantage of these new tools to extremely minimise my phone usage. -
Why do i have to spend a lot of time coding front end ? I just hate it, don't get me wrong i like coding but front end doesn't make me feel like coding 😟😟😟5

I've finally setup a dedicated Docker box with RancherOS and Rancher... Shipyard looked nice as well (the simplicity like beautiful) but the cloud management with Rancher is amazing!
It took me minutes to install the OS, minutes to install Rancher, then on my phone it took minutes to install Jenkins with swarm support!
I'm loving this! -
Behold, the most American sentence ever uttered:
“Never sue a freedom-loving n*gga with a big-ass gun.”
Gotta make it a bumper sticker for my Ford F-350!6 -
Recently I switched to Linux, and so far I'm loving it.
I am on Pop_OS! and it's working great for me so far. The package manager and actually good appstore is definitely a pro over Windows, and I really like the customizability.8 -
I thought that I'll be loving the first day on a new job, but I'm been waiting for hours to make some code.1

When you're out at the ComicCon, surrounded by all those magnificent nerds, having a blast, got yourself the best debugging buddy(who brings on board the knowledge of the ancient ones - pic below) but you kiiiinda want to be home already, because you want to learn RoR - then you know you're hooked.

Flutter. And Dart, while we're at it. What is the most hated thing you've got against them, and what's the most loving feature of the framework?1

Pretty much any sic-fi movie. Loving 2019 movies : Atlia, avengers end game, captain Marvell, Godzilla, starwars episode dark phoenix, MIB international, Shazam, spider Man far from home, 😊😁😀
Yeah pretty much don't have a life 🤪😜 -
I wonder when the transition from being scared of stack traces to loving them came. who needs a debugger when you can substitute any suspicious line/breakpoint with a runtime error.
-
Perfect standard luggage for the standard-loving dev. There's nothing more pleasing than everyone having EXACTLY what everyone else has...2

Before installing Arch Linux, I failed to see why I'd use it over Ubuntu.
After installing Arch Linux, still have no idea why I'd use it over Ubuntu.
(Still using and loving it though, after 3+ months.)1 -
Why the ever loving fuck does Windows take MORE ram to close a fucking program, than to run it. I'm STOPPING a fucking operation. There is nothing about this concept that requires more processing or memory. When I click the fucking close button, you're supposed to free up memory and stop running shit. Not the opposite.3

What keyboard does everyone use?
I switched to a Logitech Orion G610 with Cherry MX Blue's and I'm loving it.12 -
Spent the day trolling the ever loving shit out of Parler and man, I won’t need to harvest butthurt for at least 3 months.

With all the people here using and loving Linux, I wonder how many of you have contributed money to either a distro, drivers or the kernel itself?6

Today was fun, i set up a dedicated minecraft server on my old laptop, to increase fps when I play on my shitty phone now it runs real smooth. The server is running on a proxmox vm - ubuntu server.
I wish I knew that fps would be this high , i would have done this wayy earlier, am loving it8 -
I got enrolled in 'extracurricular activity' in second grade of my elementary school. We were playing some games at first, but later teacher started to show us programming and explained the matter very well considering we all were 8 y olds. I got interested and while others would play games I was coding and solved assignments teacher gave us.
My family thought that computer will make me stupid, thinking it was made just for playing games. They promised me to get me the computer if I had highest grades in school. I did, not all of them but tried really hard to be the best, despite that I waited for years and still being close to have aced every subject in the meantime.
I got my first computer when I was 16.
Since that day I was constantly reminded that I am wasting my life away sitting at this stupid box.
Later when I got the job that was well payed, they acknowledged that they were wrong to do that for majority of my life.
My parents are unable to explain what I do at the job as they were never interested in what I really do. "Something with computers" is most common answer you can hear from them.
My parents are non-technical people and they still don't understand how that box works and God forbid that they buy something online. My father even rejects to use smartphone.
They also thought that I'm no college material despite always being in top 5 students of the year (not class, but whole year).
They had other plans for me, but I was aware of that and didn't gave a f00ck about what they want with my life. I knew what I want and that was all exactly opposite of what my parents would like.
I was not the child they wanted, but was good son, even helped them and worked student jobs to pay some bills and to help them financially and still they struggled so hard to find some flaw to my character and decisions just to make their point but more than often failed miserably and just proved how wrong they were and how they don't think anything trough.
Only one who really supported me was my elder sister as she knew I was doing the right thing! She also did it her way and I am proud of her as both of us were dealing with 2 tough customers.
long rant, but wanted to add one more thing, I was never into sport, but was training tae kwon do and was really into it and was decent at it among my peers. When I was going to national competition, on my way out of the house all I got from my parents was: "why are you even going there when you will immediately loose, is it just to travel a bit?"
TL;DR: my family supported me less in my life than worst phone call you had with IT support at your worse ISP!4 -
@dfox I'm absolutely loving these avatars! btw I know I'm going to ask too much but can you add the facial hair with a goatee and no moustache.2

It's bit like having Stockholm syndrome. I fear that all this sitting and staring at tge monitor can cause many health problems ... Bu I still can't stop doing (and loving) programming.

What a world we live in, I am equally excited for the Pinephone and Microsoft duo... I feel strange for loving them both8

Learning vue.js as the moment and loving it. However, it does make me wonder, when using a framework are you essentially cheating?
I wonder if framework only "users" can write raw code outside of a framework?3 -
Character setup and animations done. Now time to flesh out players, AI and maps. But need more coffee first. Loving UE4 engine.1
-
This a hybrid rant/question - I'm just getting into golang/go and loving bits of it but feeling that I am needing to import a new cunting package to get basic stuff done that every other language has out of the box (that is the rant) - eg fmt package is needed to print. Is this the downside of go or am I missing something fundimental?3

nephews who had good childhood and loving families: hey, keep up!

I’m really loving ChatGPT’s ability to take a natural language request and turn it into code. It’s not perfect but it speeds up the process so I can get down to tweaking and perfecting things. What have you made with it?4

Changed to a MacBook Pro 15 2018. I am loving the overall snappy-ness of MacOS. I am not missing Windows 10 so far. Currently I am a senior at University. Studying BSc on Computer Engineering.

Shoutout to the guy who made the Starfall vscode theme, I'm really loving it so far. This theme is fantastic, supports over 50 languages, and also super underrated, with only ~650 downloads. Definitely worth checking it out

!rant - Thanks to whoever it was who reminded me of the DevRant Spotify Playlist. I had some epic tuneage to start work with this morning. I'm loving some Black Stone Cherry (I don't have to wait for them to come on Planet Rock). (Also, Grammarly recognised the word 'Tuneage'.6

Does anybody use SomaFm as their daily driver? It's an online curated radio service. They have a very interesting list of channels and each channel is curated. They have channels from metal to alt rock to electronica to trance to folk.
I have recently discovered them and loving it. Clementine has SomaFM in its list of internet services. That's how I discovered them.2 -
Kanye West grew up with a loving mother. The relationship between between him and his mum is so strong that I am jealous. Too sad some much didn’t grow up around so much love.
Just finished jeen-yuhs on Netflix.1 -
No judgment regardling the "H" word here. But right now, which would you rate the best Hybrid app SDK?
Flutter, React Native, Xamarin? Other? and why?
I started using Flutter in 2020 and I'm loving the results. The learning curve is really high but the performance is nice. But coding via widgets...just feels a bit messy.8
