Finally I found a webpage related to my bug.
The page is from 2004.
*keeps reading*
"Yes, yes! This is exactly the problem I'm having"
*Carefully reading each comments*
*Looking at scroll bar with stress*
*Almost coming to end, no signs of solution*
At the end the thread creator say: "Ah finally I've fixed the problem. Thanks everyone for helping"
*moment of silence*
WHY U NO SHARE THE GOD DAMN SOLUTION? YOU FUCKING IDIOT17 -
Me when I'm FREE :
Hmm, I don't have anything to do, let's sleep for 10 hours..
Me when I have to STUDY :
Let's watch that latest episode of Mr. Robot
Let's complete that side-project I started to 10 years ago..
Let's learn something new in Android Development...
Let's scroll devRant..20 -
When @dfox and @trogus scroll through their devRant feeds, is it considered slacking off at work, or properly debugging their software..? 🤔10

I can't watch others use a computer.
That's not how you ask google a question.
You're clicking the wrong way.
You click like an idiot.
Why are you scrolling like that? do you hate moving down the page so mutch it makes you scroll like that?
Why am i forced to sit through this?
When will this end?14 -
Today I needed the scroll lock key.
I was running a super long test suite, one which puts a green dot on the screen every 500ms, so you can't scroll up. I needed to view some output of an earlier command... in other words, I needed to lock the automatic scrolling of the terminal.
That is what the scroll lock key was made for.
A momentous occasion.
Then I found out that a while ago, I used the macro function of my keyboard to rebind the that key... to close the current terminal window. 😡7 -
@dfox Feature request
Could we have fully displayed rants ? Maybe as a setting disabled by default ?
I mean sometimes i'd like to relax and just mindlessly scroll, and having to tap to read longer rant and then tap back is, well, too much.
Especially when the rant ia only like 2 words above limit.16 -
Just now a teacher opened Chrome with tons of unused, opened tabs. I literally shouted "ahh!" on first sight.
Then he opened another ton of programs and the Chrome logo disappeared from the taskbar(you have to scroll down). He said "Oops, I accidentally closed the browser". He opened Chrome from the 'search' in taskbar and proceeded to open another ton of tabs(STILL NOT REALIZING THE OVERLAPPING CHROME LOGO ON THE TASKBAR)
Hell.15 -
When did “responsive“ web design become synonymous with “huge f*cking images, big ass captions and needing to scroll vertically forever“?!
Although sites like that may look good on tiny mobile screens, on desktop screens they are just freaking me out. I am not blind, nor am I too stupid a visitor to handle denser paragraphs of text in a more sophisticated kind of layout! Geez...8 -
Sometimes I scroll or tap something on my phone with my nose
(Usually when I somehow can't use any of my hands to do that or I'm just too lazy)
Is that weird? Am I the only one?11 -
I don't care how technically competent or how much experience you have...
A list of files is in alphabetical order 99% of the fricking time.
If I ask you to open "index.html" and have to watch over your shoulder as you hunt for it in the C,D,E section... and then you quickly scroll down to S,T,U and start looking there... I swear I will jam that wireless mouse where the sun don't shine.8 -
My dad has been using a Windows computer every day since 95. Yesterday he discovered that if you click the little tabs in the "details" view of the file explorer, you can sort the contents of a folder by name, date, etc.
I also tried to show him how to scroll with the mouse wheel, but he said it was too complicated, and he preferred to drag the scroll bar every single time.5 -
I built an infinite scroll module today that loaded in more content when you scroll down. Issue was it sent a request for every pixel you scrolled.
Needless to say, many, many, many Ajax requests were sent to the server. Oops.4 -
This happens everyday
> Picks phone up to test changes to mobile app
> oh look I got a notification
> Scroll, Scroll, like, like, lol, lmao, that's gross, lol, haha
> 5 minutes goes by
> Puts phone down
> Goes back to computer
> What the fuck am I forgetting....2 -
Okay so if you click on my profile and scroll down (all the way to the end) my first post on devRant was about me making a website for my best friend and ask her out that way. An update on that... we got married :3
And this was the second post about it https://devrant.com/rants/704942/...7 -
Person- Hey! are you a game developer?

Go to scroll down an inch and I end up at the bottom of the page. Fuck you.2 -
Encountered this is my computer science lab.
One of the most useless keys. Majority doesn't know what it does. And now there's two of it xD6 -
You know, sometimes I wish I had friends who knew how to code or new a bit about the programming world. Then I could show them my projects and they could help out of they wanted. I could also get them to properly criticize my designs and script. Instead of the ones that just scroll past your shit and say nothing at all, you know, people who would actually give a little bit of a shit. Sigh.6

FOR FUCK'S SAKE!!!
Stop this INFINITE SCROLL BULLSHIT!!!

Just spent 10 minutes teaching a client how to scroll on his computer after sending him the mock-up for his website.
The best part? I got him to learn by saying "pet the mouse" -
The moment you go to a site, and the scroll bar is so small you think the article is so long...But it's actually the comment section ...3

devRantron v1.2.1
A lot of people have asked me in comments if it is available in windows, macOS or linux. Just to clear this up that it's available on all platform including all linux distros.
Changelists:
1. Clicking on in-app notifications will now scroll to the relevant comment
2. You can scroll outside the column now. Your mouse cursor doesn't need to inside to scroll through the feed
3. Clicking ESC will close any open modal
4. Use arrow keys to scroll feeds
5. User can't subscribe himself anymore
6. You can press enter to log in
Get it from here: https://devrantron.firebaseapp.com
**I posted this yesterday night but removed it immedietly as I detected a huge bug in the release. Sorry 😞11 -
when you watch a coding video and try to scroll the code because you just forgot it was on YouTube... 😫😫1

Web advertising has really gotten out of hand.
Most news sites dedicate more real estate to ads than actual content. Even worse, sites like Bloomberg scroll like a janky piece of shit because of all the gaddamn ads constantly loading resources, and phoning home to help the fucks spy on me.
Marketers ruin everything.6 -
Be nice if tapping on a comment notification would open the correct rant and scroll it down to where it actually happened 🙃15

Just reviewed collegues code: 80 lines of if statements that are so long that I have to scroll sideways on my 27" screen. Just wrote the exact same thing in 5 minutes and 10 lines! If you don't know how to use loops in your code please learn something different and stop pissing off skilled devs 😡5

I just wanted to show what i built.
Devrant meet projector clock.
It uses atmega and one generic 7x5 LED matrix and some rtc chip.
It projects current time on the wall opposite in scroll manner.
I also want to add internet connectivity to it next. So as to show reminders and slack notifications. Work is on for that thing.

Me: Visits web store -> Stares at header -> Stares at logo -> Check if colors match -> Scroll to footer -> Frowns at ads -> Scroll back up -> Multi click product item for debounce -> Fuck i clicked twice but it added the product thrice -> Closes tab -> Drives to local store -> Purchase product -> leaves store.9 -
Let's make a WPF apllication... They said.
Let's add a ScrollViewer... They said.
Let's put a DataGrid inside the ScrollViewer... They said.
Let's disable scrollwheel on the DataGrid... They said.
Let's add a UserControl to a ColumnTemplate in the DataGrid... They said.
Let'a put a ComboBox with a custom template inside the UserControl... They said.
Now let's hope nobody tries to use the scrollwheel on the ComboBox.
Now I have to convince somebody that it's pretty much impossible to enable scrollwheel on the ComboBox.4 -
Y'all wanna see snail?(on Android app of devRant)
Scroll back and forth through your feed and watch the scroll bar.

Navbar is cool now, better than the older one. But can you please move this circle for creating a new rant to the right? Actually it's all over everything and really disturbs. And possibly also fade it Out when you scroll.3

Facebook has changed so much.
There was a time when we were so connected and had so much fun there with friends. Now it’s mostly about videos and ads. That’s all I see when I scroll. I hate it now.9 -
Recipe sites are the absolute aids.
Ad covered, half the time they feature some bullshit story nobody cares about, and it takes ages to scroll through them.
Fuck this is bad.29 -
@dfox the reply and modify buttons on the last comment in a rant on iphone6 is very close to the social media icons and comment button.
So close that its easy to hit the wrong one. A little extra padding in the bottom so that you can scroll half a centimeter more would help a lot.3 -
!Not a rant!

I’m an admin of a Facebook page for a small business whose website I built (I don’t personally do anything on the page, I just have admin rights :p). The location is clearly listed on the page, you just have to scroll down a bit on Facebook to see it, just like on every other Facebook page. There is also a link to the website that contains the location. Yet, EVERY WEEK, we get at least one person who sends us a message on Facebook: “where are you located?” Somehow they managed to turn on a computer, sign into Facebook and open a conversation dialog... but to scroll down a bit or visit our website to see the full location is not within their mental capacity. WTF6

When devRant crashes on my Windows Phone due to scrolling too many rants and still there were more left to scroll. I suppose a higher power is giving me a sign to head to sleep!16 -
sends me a "screencap.avi" on slack. I download and open it, and it's a video of an IE bug where the width of the scroll bar itself takes up just enough that the content gets enough height to trigger a scroll bar to appear, so the whole page keeps twitching because the scroll bar keeps appearing and disappearing every second. LMAO FML FUCK IE7

A client just asked why her site was in Latin instead of English (I used dummy text because there was no content yet).
Last week, she requested l chop up a .jpg mockup because she 'can't scroll' the image.
I had to re-read the email to be sure.1 -
Every time I search something on Stack Overflow, I get excited when it's word for word the issue I'm having. Giddy with excitement, I click the question and scroll down.
Every damn time "Question was closed due to being off-topic".
Even when it's totally on topic!
Anyone get this or do I have the worst luck on the planet?6 -
Oh, a big "Learn More" button on the hero of your webpage. Let me click that. Oh, it slightly scrolls down to the bottom. I didn't expect that. Thanks for saving me some mousewheel flings. I appreciate it. Really.

Finally got my Bluetooth earphones!
It's called Pamu Scroll, funded in Indiegogo.
I bought it for $49 without shipping fee.
Now let me write a review about it here after using for about an hour or so.
1. Shipment
Shipment from China is slow and hard to track unless it is classified as EMS, which mine wasn't, obviously.
2. Packaging
It has some shock protection layer, but without that, nope! It was staying still inside the packaging though.
3. Design
Beautiful. Just beautiful. Period. Just see the picture below.
It opens as a papyrus, maybe that's why it is called Pamu Scroll. Both the case's end, and earphones itself has magnets to hold each other.
It has a leather feeling to both the inside and outside of the case, and the touch control area of the earphones is also leather feeling, adding a nice touch that differs with other earphonnes.
The diamond feeling finish in the end of the case makes the case itself isn't earphones, more like some expensive jewelry case.
4. Fit
My ears are smaller than most people, for I am young, so it sometimes fall off when I jump, but when I put it the correct way, never falls out.
5. Audio
I am not an audiophile. I don't really care about the audio quality and how it sounds like unless the sound is too cringy and has so many white noise.
This earphones has white noise, but just a little bit, you won't notice except when you are in a quiet room.
The bass is boosted, but low sounds, and vocals can be cringy sometimes, so I should manually tune them with my phone's equalizer.
6. IPX6
Not tested yet, but they advertise as using it in the shower.
7. Stereo call
Yup. Stereo call. Call in both ears. But only right microphone seems to get the voice.
8. Pairing
Using BT 5, it is a breeze to connect.
Take both of them out, put to your ear, then ding! "Connected"
Done.
9. Charging
with micro-usb
wireless charging for optional purchase - 10 bucks
10. battery
Reasonable amount
You have 3.5 hrs of listening time in both ears, and you can charge 2 times more each by putting in the case.
===============
Overall, it is awesome and let's just pray it doesn't break for at least for an year.
One side note, I can activate assistant by double tapping in the left ear (yes it is touch control), but my S8 asks me if I want to customize with Automate/Tasker. Yup!
Will share that later as well.
If you have any questions, ask me! Thanks for reading my first ever product review in devRant! <311 -
When I'm scrolling through my feed here for a long time and see a rant I want to comment on, I always scroll down, comment and then realize the rant is a month+ old.

You put that little horizontal scroll bar or you seriously wanted to troll us?
Thinking it's a side bar, I tried literally 5-6 times and then I gave up.9 -
I finally got so annoyed at the lack of infinite scroll on devRant that I just threw together a quick project to have it.
It's called rantReader and is basically just a normal algo feed with infinite scroll.
So, if anyone wants to use it, it's hosted at https://rantreader.privateger.me/.

Client stated at the beginning of the project that they wanted a modern, pretty website that essentially had everything on one page.
Okay no problem, design is done and approved, weeks ago.
Today they come in after having the site for THREE WEEKS to review and do they come back with feedback on the functionality of the site? Oh no all they want to know is 'how will the user know that they need to scroll down to see more of the site?'...2 -
CSS "scroll-behavior: smooth" implements smooth scrolling with CSS only. That's pretty awesome, even though JavaScript had a similar implementation, which has, equal to "scroll-behavior: smooth", bad browser support. I hope browsers implement it fast and it performs good.5

On the 9Gag Android app, you can "scroll" up and down by using the volume up/down, if the music isn't playing. (I think you have to enable this in the setings).
I find this quite convinient, and would love to this here too.

Who the fuck decided it would be a good idea to have the FAQ entries show up part by part sliding into existance as you scroll?
I just wanted to scan over it to find the link to the webapp that wasn't provided elsewhere (everywhere just infos about features - c'mon!)
don't load that shit like its 2003!1 -

And it likes to reverse scroll direction randomly, which is really annoying.2 -
So, Instagram put that "Be the first to comment" as a part of the background on the image itself. Whenever I scroll past comments that is visible in between the gaps. They couldn't even render a simple text view if there are no comments. And, I thought I was the only one who uses lazy hacks to make things work.2

Yo i know this shit is discussed way too often, but it kills me from the inside:
In that one coding class we get some source files where only the function bodies are missing (i know, sounds childish).. but it uses this style
function()

Thanks google, I don't think I will forget to try them

Reading another rant about scrolling and decimal values I felt an urge to write about a bad practice I often see.
Load on demand when scrolling has been popular for quite some years but when implementing it, take some time to consider the pages overall layout.
I have several times encountered sites with this “helpful” feature that at the same time follows another staple feature of pages, especially news sites, of putting contact and address information in the footer ...
Genius right :)
I scroll down to find contact info and just as it comes in view new content gets loaded and pushes it out of view.
If you plan to use load on demand, make sure there is nothing below anyone will try to reach, no text or links or even pictures, you will frustrate the visitor ;)
The rant I was inspired by probably did not do this but its what got me thinking.

Basically everything. Let me explain.
It's now.. okay what time is it? Ooh there's some dust on the clock, I wonder how do they form.. I guess I'll check Wikipedia. Page is loading, might as well scroll fb while waiting. Ooh a video on the home feed! Oh wait it's loading, I wonder what's on YouTube. Ugh, ads, let's just mute it and scroll devRant. Oh cool there's something called Google FooBar challenge, imma try searching Arraylist Java. Nice, lv1 done, let's take a break by getting a drink from the fridge.
*Walks back to room after drinking a sip of orange juice* hmm.. what time is it? Oh it's late, imma go to sleep!

Android studio is a PATHETIC excuse of an IDE!! And managing a constraint layout inside a scroll view is worse than having my nails pulled out while a bamboo is growing into my spine at record time! Screw this piece of shit IDE!! I suck at front end bad enough to have to deal with its buggy frontend IDE!! Aaaah!!!! - pulls lumps of hair out-16

If you're experiencing the "can't scroll up on the profile page" bug, here's the solution:
Scroll up until the bug. Put (press and hold) your finger on the "tab bar" at the top. Move your finger up a little, then down to scroll.
This is worked for me.8 -
We are switching to an infinite scroll mode for our app. I told the backend dev in my project (we're just 2 people) I need an API to get more than one post at once.
He told me to use a loop to call the old URL 15 times.
...Not sure if stupid or just too lazy4 -
Client wanted me to implement a "fix" for the site beeing to large on mobile. He had to scroll too long. I implemented a quick fix and turned the biggest list into a carousel with slick slider (awesome 5-minute-fix btw.)
But it depends on jQuery. I feel so dirty now. The sites amount of JavaScript is three times bigger now, too. Please, don't judge me. 😩3 -
My favorite thing about CSS flex-box is that I can re-order the elements and put the footer at the top of the page while I style it - and have no need to scroll down on every build. order: -11

When you click on a notification about a comment, does it take you directly to the comment or the rant page? I always have to scroll down to find my comment. It's not a link!
Anyone need below features?
# 0 It would be good to have your own username/comment highlighted differently so it's easy to find our own comments.
# 1 we should have a scroll to bottom option for a rant. For a huge rant when you click on notification you need to scroll down to bottom manually to check new comments. -
For telcos it's cheaper to install and use faster 10gb/s fiber optic than using its existing 1gb/s network. I thougt they were lazy fucks who only do something when not doing anything is more expensive. Fascinating 10gb/s internet future ahead of us.
If you are bored and want to learn something new, watch this cringe worthy video where verizon talks about its fiber optic network. It's even worth to watch for non us amercians.

I hate infinitely scrolling pages. There is no way of knowing (or at least, nobody is telling) how far you have to scroll to reach the end. Though I guess the answer is kinda given already; "infinitely". Fuck, I'll be scrolling for a while, then.11

You know what I really like? When apps override the scrolling behaviour...
Yes, I really want you to disable my scrolling settings and enforce your own goddamn scrolling logic, it's so great to have shit I'm used to being forcibly removed from me.

The most fun thing to do? Scroll through all the rants really fast, and watch the scroll bar on the right shrink and expand rapidly.2

Fucking four hours wasted.
Bad idea
.subscribe(({ messages }) => {
this.messages = messages;
// Scroll to bottom of the chat content
this.chatcontent.nativeElement.scrollTop = this.chatcontent.nativeElement.scrollHeight;
});
because the dom is not manipulated that fast.
Good Idea:
ngAfterViewChecked(): void {
// Scroll to bottom of the chat content
this.chatcontent.nativeElement.scrollTop = this.chatcontent.nativeElement.scrollHeight;

The fun you can have with voice control and parents. :-)
Free version lets you have 20 commands:
https://voiceattack.com
Great fun letting parents use it for browsing the web, save their fingers.
Though I notice it works better if it has a trigger word ahead of the command.
So instead of:
"Scroll Up"
They was using:
"Bloody Scroll Up"
Much more amusing. :-)
This has been a public service announcement, please continue working...4 -
Oh shit it's a !rant, if you don't like !rants then scroll past this please.
When out of all my dumb classmates there's actually one that never learned much about programming before going to my school, got interested and is right now developing a library of CLI games... Of course I help him if he has any questions, and I will probably review his code after he's done.6 -
Soundcloud used to know how to shuffle your liked tracks. Not it only shuffles the tracks that are in the playlist and the playlist only contains the (literally) visible tracks.
Basically, If you want to shuffle more than 30 songs at once you hace to scroll down for it...3 -

Why is it that after scrolling down on my profile page I can no longer properly scroll up? The view gets sort of "stuck" (sorry, no Android dev here).8 -
Do you think anyone at Google has ever used a mouse to scroll through Google calendar? I don't - otherwise, they'd see that it's unbearable. That API sure is great, though.

@dfox
Just a suggestion, when scrolling down on a user's profile, their user information should scroll up too along with the 'rants/+1's/comments' tabs and then those tabs stay fixed while the user information hides. Sort of like what Twitter does
There's not much room to view the actual content with all the user information in the way. Of course once we scroll back up, it will then reveal the user info again
:-)4 -
Hi @dfox, hi @trogus
Why have you decided to achive a sticky avatar on the rant page by increasing padding-top on scroll on the web app?
I try to understand your decision, because I would have choosen position sticky.14 -

A quick update on my www.xmlrant.com
So, I added sticky headers to the site while you scroll, which will make it easier to see what type are we viewing and sorted by which criteria.

Pro tip: if you press the little refresh button on the upper right hand corner it will refresh the rant and then scroll you all the way down to the bottom of the page.6

The thing I hate the most at the moment, is working/receiving tasks on chat (Skype, telegram).

Is it just me or does anyone else hate the "MORE RANTS" feature/option of Devrant.
Can't we simply have a scrolling featuring with never-ending set of Rants the same way as reddit does??
:( :( :(3 -
Thanks a lot @dfox @torgus @tahnik for implementing the scroll freature with the arrow key in devRantron.

Did you notice that the scrollbar in the devrant (android) app changes size depending on the lenght/number of posts/comments you can see at the moment? Just scroll down in the posts list and see the scroll bar crawl like a caterpillar 😮1

Why must the scrollbar look like its having a seizure whenever I scroll faster than a brisk scroll? Why does it even have to change length at all? Why can't it just be the same length all the time? It happens a bit in the devRant app, but it's even worse in other apps (like the reddit app).2

Not being able to scroll with the touchpad while coding with Visual Studio...10 -
Everytime I scroll through here I see people complaining about JS and frameworks being made for it. Well think about it, would you rather have to use old buggy JavaScript or help the community and the language achieve better standards? Just look at ES6 and ways to write code and JavaScript really isn't that bad. It's just misunderstood.3

Bug (or feature ?) report
I don't know if it's a bug, a feature, and something that just happens to me.. When I view someone's profile and I want to scroll down to see the rants, the "first scroll" stops at the end of the profile. Then I can scroll down more. And after, if I want to see the profile again I can't scroll up. I ended up finding out that tapping the username lets us see the profile again. I'd like to point this out because the behavior seems kinda weird to me, I don't know what others think about it5 -
Will be unpopular with some, but I'm loving vs code more and more with each update.
I just accidentally spun the scroll wheel while the cursor was over the file tabs, they all scroll, making it easy to navigate to files that are open but off the tab display

Just realized the button between my left and right click on my touchpad actually works exactly like you would press the scroll wheel on your mouse, in Linux!

For at least the 3rd or 4th time this semester, I just saw a question on the CS chat about what the difference is between implements Comparable and extends Comparable in Java. Really? Do people not know how to scroll up, or did this person not realize that she didn't understand this until 2 MONTHS after the exam?1

Dear Instagram, Reddit, Twitter, devRant, and almost every social media site available:
Scrolling down on a phone is much less natural than scrolling sideways and having the scroll snap to the next unit of content.
Like every pictures/ gallery app. It's a lot easier to focus on one piece of content and it even shortens the duration of scroll required in many cases thanks to the snapping.6 -
Feature request
Could we have some kind of way to see who created the post in the comments? Like an OP mark or a different color of the name or something?
When reading long quality rants I tend not to notice the username, and then when I'd like to engage in the discussion I have to scroll all the way up to check it.2 -
Found a bug while search the newest week rants,
I can't scroll to the bottom properly.
It's hard to show in a screenshot but you can see that the scroll bar has gone to the bottom of the screen and it won't let me go anything further.

3.) The user is unable to scroll up.12 -
Holy shit. I'm on the devrant app and I just noticed that the scrollbar on the right does this weird worm thingy.
As I scroll up and down, the scrollbar size keeps changing. It's a cool effect where it twitches like a worm.
Is that an android o feature or something or did @dfox or @trogus add that shet.2 -
@dfox You should make a widget so we can just scroll through some rants without wasting much time to get to the app. It would make those people who hunt for extra time happier. It's just a thought you should look into ;) ;*1

Why doesn't bash for Windows support Scroll Lock? Were it's developers too young to remember what that button is for?7

Anyone else noticed this on Chrome mobile? If you stay still long enough on a website and try to scroll up, you will refresh instead.

I think it only happens in Firefox..
Scroll using the scrollwheel up to the top of the page, and it sometimes bounces downwards..

Is this a 'feature' in Firefox/Windows 10/etc. you can turn off ?
Doesn't happen in Chrome..7 -

I've determined a simple formula for how to get people to stay in your app for long periods of time:
1. Infinity scrolling

Why? You can't infinitely scroll if your battery's dead.

Question to @dfox
How hard would it be to make the
++ and -- to scroll along with us to the bottom of a long rant and then stop at the line for the next rant? -
Just for my curiosity. On your trackpad / mouse, do you've a natural scroll or a reverse one? I find very well with the reverse scroll but I have read that the natural one should be the preferred because of the concept

So does devrant save all your rants?
Apparently I'm super narcissistic and enjoy reading my old rants and the responses to them. A lot. And I'm browsing through, clicking, reading all the old comments (you guys are really great, I love reading your comments) and I realize at the bottom of the list of my rants theres no pagination, no infinite scroll. It just ends at the bottom.4 -

Is GraphQL worth it? It promisses to keep some load away from backend programmers but what about this scenario:
There's a list of items with scroll load/infinite scroll. There can be several filters as well as the Option to change the ordering of the list items.
With "traditional" REST, I'll hit the DB with one request, get the data in the right order to the backend, might itterate over it once to add additional information, cache the result in Redis/Memcache and send it off.
Using GraphQL, the frontend has to load all entries first, sort them in JS (which probably is slow on mobile devices), and then display it. No matter how "expensive" the query is, there's no caching.
Is that about it? Did I get something backwards?3 -
instagrams "based on likes" is total bullshit, I don't like shit those suggestions like but if you scroll through your contacts you'll find those suggestions. Why not just say it like it is: "from your contacts or from your friends contacts"3

The last ten days i’ve been working on some animations for this website. Basic stuff but when you make elements move on scroll, people go wild.
The designer had a big opinion on this ofcourse.
So big she hád to scroll through the page herself.
So, multiple times a day, for the past two weeks she came over, checked animations, and gave a bit feedback on what could be improved.
She never mentioned the labels that where only appearing on scroll. Everything was just fine after 9 days.
However on day #10 i got a bug that the labels had to be appearing “just after loading the page”.
Like what?! Are people to dumb to scroll 2mm on a page? Damn ho. Wtf do you mean with “just after loading the page”. 1sec? 2sec? 10sec?1 -

Hi @dfox I saw an android user report this bug recently as a rant, and now I'm seeing it in iOS (latest app and os version).
Scrolling to the bottom, no more rants load. The little message shows stating that more rants are loading, but when you keep trying to scroll down there are none.
When I change the sort order from Algo to Recent or Top, I can't reproduce the issue. Seems to be only Algo.
Have tried killing the app and restarting to no effect. I hadn't noticed this bug last week interestingly, but can't confirm whether that's just coz I didn't scroll enough.2 -

Small experimental demo using JS, CSS and a bit of PHP.
http://abitus.net/tests/...
The code, all mixed in a unique ~600 lines 'index.php' file, is ugly af. But I was mostly interested by the concept here, so it's really intended to be a dumb prototype.
However I think this works. The idea was to use a conceptual design solution in order to show links temporality when it is based on their popularity. More a link gets clicked, more bigger and slower it will be.
There's still a lot to improve. It could work with images or even more complex contents like articles. Just a matter of improving the UI.
Please feel free to play with it and give your opinion. What do you guys think of the concept ?1 -

@dfox I cannot scroll down the list of somebody's or my own rants on the profile screen. I use the Android app, and scrolling after a point becomes a tedious process only allowing a millimeter at a time. Could you please fix this?5

Why does it matter if I scroll my mouse with my middle finger?
You keep using your index finger while I stick with my middle finger.4 -
Ok new game! 6 degrees of @localhost
Where every rant is only 6 degrees away from @localhost
BEGIN
10 Scroll through some rants
20 random stop at a rant
30 click on that rant
40 Click on the user's name on rant
50 In there profile: click on +1's
60 Click on the first rant you see
GOTO 402 -
So I have been migrating my website from AngularJS to Vue as an experiment. I'm late to the party.
It has a navicon that opens a dock, a bar that drops down when you scroll, and some insane particle effect that is first drawn to a canvas and then pushed into a div's background image in real time. Seems nesting Vue instances isn't an option, so I made it into a component.
After two days I finally got it working... and it spazzes the hell out. It's literally the exact same code, but now the canvas starts to flicker like crazy the moment you scroll the page.
Not only have I been doing really filthy stuff like 'var self = this', I have no idea where even to begin debugging this nonsense.4 -
DEVRANT FEATURE REQUEST
@dfox It would be a real time saver if DevRant app remembers the rant I was reading and saving me a time to scroll down to the last rant. :)3 -
I had to make a ruler grid for an existing horizontal scroll website project, but I had the job basically for sure.
I came up with a solution which included PHP-generated SVG embedded in HTML.
It was a new thing to me at that time, but a cool challenge. -
does anyone else have the really annoying issue with devrant flickering when trying to scroll on a rant?
just started for me a couple days ago, using firefox on windows1 -
Rant about devRant on devRant:
The about user section just leaves the view when you scroll down and never comes back when you scroll up! Rant! rant! Rant!!

Anyone else getting annoyed by the fact he/she has to scroll down all the way after commenting on a rant?
EDIT: on the browser version6 -
In advertised crime I get really annoyed when it hides the address bar. I have to scroll the page all the way up to get it to show again.!
How can I get it to show immediately or not hide it at all!?
