Daayum. Just tried to like a Facebook post by double tapping on it. :/

I keep forgetting people's birthdays and thereby I forget to wish people, and wishing people everyday can become a chore. As somebody once said, if you do something more than once, automate it.

Spent two hours and ended up building a bot that consists of four functions: login, checkIfAuthenticated, postToProfile and getBirthdaysToday using mostly axios and cheerio.

Currently works perfectly and I've been thinking of writing a blog post about it for my 'Automating Your Life' series.

I'll post the link in the comments soon when I'm done with the blog post.

I found an interesting job post on SO, I decide to apply. It comes with a programming test. A simple unit test that must pass (see current-1 post). I finally got to updating my old laptop when I saw a post about Ubuntu 18.04 being released. What do you guys think of it?

This sad Keanu was gifted to me by a coworker and friend. He sticked it to the monitor, when I was on vacation and he felt bored without me.

Keanu is sad, because I had to break one of his legs, so it does not occlude the monitor.

Also the sad post-it-Smiley came later. Another coworker messed around with my cube of magnetic spheres in my absence. He could not put it back to a cube together, so he left this post it on the magnetic spheres. I thought that day Keanu and the post-it fit together well. This sad Keanu now wears a sad mask.

Because this item reminds me of the kind coworkers and nice occasions, it is my favorite item on the desk.

I am on a forum where we actually help each other out. However, when I see someone post something, and it feels like they are putting in low effort (post practically empty) I don't spend my time getting info from them. I let others in the forum do the "show us your code" or "explain what this means" posts. I also start getting sarcastic. That is not cool in that forum so I refrain from posting.

So today I saw a post where they posted an ambiguous problem. It had to do with scrolling speed of a list in a gui interface. People made the posts like "not enough info", or "it could be...". The person further explained it was not a performance problem, but a "it just scrolls slow". At this point I can tell they have made zero effort to understand the scrolling mechanics of the object they are using. So I left the post and decided to let others deal with this. I so wanted to post a sarcastic remark though. So I am going to share with you:

On new posts, the text remains in the box and can be edited the next time, but not on comments.

Perhaps I should get used to navigating to the "post" button with the tabulator key (↹).

It would be even better if CTRL+Enter did send.

Just noticed this interestingly weird yet annoying thing Facebook does to force you to look at their advertisements !!

The first post in your news feed is something that is decided by their "ADVANCED ML+AI+... " algorithms.

The next post in your news feed is always an advertisement..usually tagged as "Sponsored".

After this, there is an insanely long delay in loading the subsequent post in your news feed, which in turn does not allow you to scroll further down and forces you to keep looking at the sponsored post in your news feed!

I've got a many to many relationship between idea and hashtag.
Currently i can POST an new idea with new hashtags just fine, but if i then POST a new idea, with the same hashtags, it tries to insert the hashtag again into hashtags on sql server, and fails since the hashtags should be unique...
What i expect of it is to just update junction table using the already created hashtag from first POST and create the new idea 😅

Today, we can edit comments or post upto 5 mins only to maintain the flow.

But would it make sense to be able to amend comments and post anytime and east way to see publicly the history of edits. This will serve the original purpose while correcting cosmetic changes even after 5 mins.

What do you people think?
