Another dev on my team just got a new machine. Before he came in today I made two separate USB installers and left him these notes.64

*me coding in Atom in world history class*
*Teacher walks over*
Teacher: Are you on task?
Me: I'm taking notes.
Teacher: It doesn't look like it.
Me: I set a dark theme for Microsoft Word.
*Teacher walks away*13 -
*In a team meeting*
Me: *happily jotting down notes in markdown*
Other guy: "Dude what are you doing? Pay attention."
Me: "Umm... I'm taking notes?"
Other guy: "But why does your MS Word have black background?"
Me (a bit lost): "Umm... That's not Word. That's my text editor."
Other guy: "Alright... But how do you convert your notes into Word then?"
Me: "... I don't."
Other guy: *stares at me*
Me: * stare back*
It was a nice conversation.17 -
Android app update available! I wonder what they've changed? 🤔
Changelog: "We improved the app and made it better."
Well thanks. 🖕20 -
This is the first time an IDE has apologized to me.
PS: Dev notes, crash reports etc are excluded. This is the IDE saying sorry I can't do it, no matter what.11 -
"Sticky Notes have been updated. Restart now or later?"
Really Windows, really?
Sticky notes update requires restart..16 -

I'm logging my DevRant time as training ... I read all these dumb things that people do, and make mental notes so that I don't do the same thing. Best. Training. Ever.6

You might know by now that India demonetized old higher value notes and brought in new one. The new ones easily tear off easily and generally feel cheaper and less reliable than pervious ones.
One interesting thing people discovered is that rubbing it with cloth makes the ink transfer to the cloth. Sign of crap printing. Here's government response:
The new currency notes have a security feature called 'intaglio printing'. A genuine currency note can be tested by rubbing it with a cloth; this creates a turbo-electric effect, transferring the ink colour onto the cloth
TL;DR: its not a bug, it's a feature7 -
*Me working on the security system of the notes app thingy*
"hmm, should check if a users' ip is valid, let's look for some online services..."
*can't find a good one without rate limits*
😞
*hold on, I wrote one myself 🤣*
I am so fucking retarded sometimes.7 -
I was trying to get some cash from an ATM. Instead of vending bank notes as it should, this happened...
I still need that cash...11 -
Guy: I don't trust password managers
Me: so how do you remember passwords?
Guy: oh, I just keep them in a note in the iPhone notes app/iCloud.9 -
So yesterday my girlfriend and me wanted to clean the apartment.
We ended up coding on a private project all day long... but at least we put //FIXME notes all over our place.
Let's see how today goes. ^^ -
My lead developer left on vacation for a week. Without notice to my boss and/or myself.
Well to be fair we did have the minimum which is a 2 day notice....
So what did we do? Well the boss and I acted like absolute adults and did what any other adult would do.
Me sticky noted the fuck out of his desk and screens.
4 screens full of sticky notes.
Phone is full of sticky notes too. And geez man....everything is sticky notes....so...many....sitcky...notes9 -

(Monday)
Me: I'm gonna be gone the next few days and you take care of this? I have these notes if you have questions.
Dev: Sure.
(Friday)
Me: Did you take care of it?
Dev: I had a question.
Me: Okay, did you check the notes.
Dev: They didn't address my question. (Proceeds to ask question)
Me: Let me show you my notes where I answered it.
Dev: Oh sorry.....3 -
I love my dad 😂. I asked him on WhatsApp if he could send me his Location... He sent me an Image instead of the GPS Location.13

One of the better filler release notes I guess. Not as good as Slack or Discord but still better than Google.1

My favourite side project that I built solo is called Chat Journal, it's a simple and elegant, one-of-a-kind chat-based journal/notes application for android, built with flutter.
Almost spent around 3 months building and improving the app (and still publishing updates every 2 weeks). It literally defines what I've done outside of work for the past few months.
Do check it out and let me know what you think about it ☺️

I am 30.
Just now I see that if I rewrite documentation of things I learn online with my own words (aka taking fucking notes) I learn with 5x quality.
For some reason I didn't do this most of my 20s.

Hello everyone! First rant, didn't know what to post about for the longest time, but have this thing. We were allowed to take some notes into our programming exam. This happened somehow. If you start writing really fucking tiny, then notice there's a bunch of free space left, then in the actual exam end up using it once or twice max. Anyway, hi!11

Sometimes I don't want my co-workers to see the notes I write on a meeting, for several reasons: Maybe they might have bad intentions (yes, I'm a little bit paranoid), or sometimes I wrote stupid stuff just to concentrate or remember things faster, or I want to practice my cyrillic alphabet.
What do you think? how do you take "secret" notes on a meeting? Any slav in here that could tell me if he/she understands my calligraphy? XD30 -
Here nerds. Here are some Dev Books for free!
Http://Goalkicker.com - Has like 50 categories of developing Languages and tools notes. iOS pdf has 800 pages. Java has 900!
And if youre living under a rock, here's a github repo of 1,044 PDFS (last I checked) - https://github.com/tpn/pdfs

I'm about to finish a website where people can upload their university notes and download others in exchange. In the future I'll try to upgrade it to an academic hub or something like that.11

I've fallen in love with the EPIC games launcher, it not only shows you detailed information about download, read and write speeds, but also the distribution of operations! Never have seen that in a game launcher, steam blizzard origin etc should take notes!8

So you want to write some notes on your surface pro 3...
Windows 10: UPDATE TIME!
Me after two minutes:4 -
Let’s continue with the last rant.
Sometimes, when I wrote notes to myself that are extremely, extremely secret but I don’t plan to use it for more than a day, I use alef-bet.
I have to admmit I’m a disaster with sofit letters and vowels, and that’s why I don’t make secret and long lasting notes in this alphabet (that actually is not even an alphabet, it’s an abyad).
Well, I guess I have too much deadtime 😂
What I tried to write is “Echar una llamada a las 10:30” (Make a call at 10:30). I hope I didn’t write some stupid stuff instead XD
I’m not jew, but I find this writing interesting 🤔 the most hard way to write I’ve ever tried13 -
Lotus Notes Lotus Notes Lotus Notes Lotus Notes Lotus Notes....
What I really hate....is Lotus Notes!5 -
Anybody else physically write notes when studying a new programming language? I do it because it really helps solidify the information in my brain and also makes for good reference.8

Ocaml, the strictest language when it comes to types i have ever seen, parses a string to a general json object in around 5 loc.

Was assigned a project for my degree with 2 others. I was only one Who knew coding and development. 1 guy spent 5 months on YouTube and other one corrected my papers grammar and stressed out notes while I did everything else in development. Came out with an A, but pissed at YouTuber.4

I know there are different ways of learning programming, but I see students actually taking notes from a programming books and highlighting important bits with a Pilot marker. (and they're not reading fundamental stuff)
Just fucking code something.3 -
When your users are this dumb, it's hard to decide between making things obvious (but inviting potential errors) vs. adding a step to reduce the chance of errors (but potentially confusing people).
It would be easier if people actually read release notes...2 -
Opening a new file for notes and keeping it open without saving. I will just add things to it until it's HUGE. Then i have to go through it...3
-
So... as a follow-up to my previous rant (https://www.devrant.io/rants/899731)
I happened across this today and started giggling internally.
Enjoy1 -
I found these notes from myself 6 months ago to my future self:
// may delete this, now it's in join profile
require('./configure/auto-confirm.js');
// may delete this, now it's in join profile
require('./wso/wso-email-ad-form.js');
I don't trust it. Not deleting.2 -
Took notes in a meeting few weeks ago about things left to do. Now I can't read my own fucking notes cuz handwriting looks like ants with dirty feet were let loose on the paper.

Had a scheduled call to interview a dev contractor. He told us any typing noise we hear is just him taking notes. Ok. After several questions the long awkward pauses, typing and furious mouse wheels make it evident he's a liar and looking up answers.
Still managed to tank the interview and wasted our time.
I sure hope that wasn't one of you guys.3 -
small victories... leaving little fuck you notes all over the code..

Our class has a google docs document where we take notes for our technical subjects. I sneaked in a little note about git: "git push -f" is the recommended programm when pushing to origin for a smoothless workflow.

My hardware professor from first year at uni

Why can’t you just make a document with the description of the things you want?
Why do you feel the need to send me fucking voice notes over 9 min long?2 -

The process of making my paging MIDI player has ground to a halt IMMEDIATELY:
Format 1 MIDIs.
There are 3 MIDI types: Format 0, 1, and 2.
Format 0 is two chunks long. One track chunk and the header chunk. Can be played with literally one chunk_load() call in my player.
Format 2 is (n+1) chunks long, with n being defined in the header chunk (which makes up the +1.) Can be played with one chunk_load() call per chunk in my player.
Format 1... is (n+1) chunks long, same as Format 2, but instead of being played one chunk at a time in sequence, it requires you play all chunks
AT THE SAME FUCKING TIME.
65534 maximum chunks (first track chunk is global tempo events and has no notes), maximum notes per chunk of ((FFFFFFFFh byte max chunk data area length)/3 = 1,431,655,763d)/2 (as Note On and Note Off have to be done for every note for it to be a valid note, and each eats 3 bytes) = 715,827,881 notes (truncated from 715,827,881.5), 715,827,881 * 65534 (max number of tracks with notes) = a grand total of 46,911,064,353,454 absolute maximum notes. At 6 bytes per (valid) note, disregarding track headers and footers, that's 281,466,386,120,724 bytes of memory at absolute minimum, or 255.992 TERABYTES of note data alone.
All potentially having to be played
ALL
AT
ONCE.
This wouldn't be so bad I thought at the start... I wasn't planning on supporting them.
Except...
>= 90% of MIDIs are Format 1.
Yup. The one format seemingly deliberately built not to be paged of the three is BY FAR the most common, even in cases where Format 0 would be a better fit.
Guess this is why no other player pages out MIDIs: the files are most commonly built specifically to disallow it.
Format 1 and 2 differ in the following way: Format 1's chunks all have to hit the piano keys, so to speak, all at once. Format 2's chunks hit one-by-one, even though it can have the same staggering number of notes as Format 1. One is built for short, detailed MIDIs, one for long, sparse ones.
No one seems to be making long ones.6 -
I'm reading (deciphering) the clients notes for modifications to their app and explaining to my PM what they want. At one point, he stopped me and said "How the fuck are you doing that? I don't understand how you can make those connections. Brilliant." 😂

Nothing fun/artsy.
Everything there is functionally relevant. (sticky notes, one pen, reading lamp)
I abso-fucking-lutely hate clutter, plus, a clean desk inspires me to innovate/create.2 -

I keep a blogger for tech notes for programs and settings that were difficult problems or took up a lot of time to find the solution or so I can remember years later if I ever return to those programs. Just in case to save myself and others time. It's kind of like an adventurer's log: I've gone through these stretches of technological wilderness and here are my findings, should one day you happen upon them.3

Anyone else have 100 .txt files on the computer called note(54).txt? Or TODO(32).txt? Yeah... Someday I will compress them into one so I don't miss something important for work. Why don't we have issue tracking?!?!5

I love bookstack for quick brainstorming, organizing my own docs, notes about projects, great stuff, it even has a DIA editor alternative right ootb, so I don't have to anymore manage DIA files and do screenshots to import into docs / notes, they are live editable too, where as in the past I had to find the DIA file, edit it, re-screenshot, ..
Just wish it had one subchapter more, since I am migrating from other services that have infinite nesting haha

Ok GCSE finals are coming up and I take ICT. literally it's harder to fail than pass this subject. But some how half the class is failing it. One of the topics that a lot of the class are struggling with is web development. Honestly all you have to do is add 2 images and some text and you have 10 marks it's stupidly easy. So at the end of the class the teacher handed me some notes on web development that he thought might come in handy. Knowing me I just chucked it in my bag never to be seen again mainly because I already know a lot about web development and a lot of the time he's asking me why his code isn't working and I'm there mumbling "you forgot a semi colon" or something like that. So when I got home I decided to take a look at these notes and honestly this made my day2
-
What's your opinion on leaving funny notes in comments from time to time? Is it highly unprofessional or you don't mind them if they are sparse?
I found this on GitHub jebej/Schrodinger.jl7 -
Remember how I gushed about one note?
Well I purchased a new laptop today.
Load it up, log in to fucking windows 10.
What do I find in one note?
All my notes from my previous PC.
What did I explicitly fucking disable on my other PC?
Sharing and syncing.
What has obviously been shared and synced anyway, completely ignoring my settings?
My fucking notes in onenote, including some very personal notes on my health and life.
Can anyone else confirm they had the same problem?
I'm interested in pursuing legal action for this bullshit.11 -

How long do you recommend 'sticking it out' in a new role? I moved 2,500km for a new job and so far I have been training on the worst development platform I have ever seen, produced diagrams, printed documents and taken meeting notes 😡. #IJustWantToProgram

I love it when sleazy business analysts change previous notes on a work item so it looks like they stated something they never actually had, especially when it's something that "I'll update the design after your development".4

Hey guys :)
I'm here today to share what I've been doing for the best part of the last year.
I was confronted with a problem, I wanted to write my notes in markdown, and wanted something that I could use cross-device without having to enrol on a premium subscription. I also wanted dark theme and a different interface than most options out there. Another requirement I had at the time was that I didn't want simply to go to a website, I wanted a 'native' look and feel, and I didn't want a text editor, I wanted a board of notes.
So I've created Mdyna. I still haven't got the cross-device functionality up and running, but it's one of the next items in my bucket list, along with a PWA that can be used in mobile devices.
You can check it out here: https://mdyna.netlify.com/
Any feedback is welcome =)2 -
Thanks to @bittersweet I found and tried _Notes by Firefox_. An awesome app, wich I definitely will keep and use.
I love the markdown support.
I love the synchronisation.
I hope they will add access-controls, so I can give other users access to my notes.
Sry, for the advertisement.4 -
Finally got myself a rocketbook everlast. Now just 1 Notebook instead of pads and bits of paper. It was a sound investment and the phone app for scanning is great. I can scribble all i want and only save the important bits. I’d highly recommend this.
https://kickstarter.com/projects/...
you can buy it on amazon.
its not an advert, it helped me stay organised and just wanted to share with the community.2 -
Notepad++. It's good for editing multiple types of files with syntax highlighting. Also doubles as a place for jotting down notes/thoughts without worrying about saving them.1

I hate filling out status reports, so I build a generator which collected all the data from the dev and ticket systems and formatted it so all I had to do was copy the output and then provide “management friendly” notes.4

Dear Future fyroc,

Buy some colored pens. The more colors the better.
I did it out of curiosity. Ended up being a life saver when taking notes and planning work on paper. It probably cut my work in half. I spend more time writing stuff on paper and planning stuff, but when I do write 10 lines of code, they turn out to be pure gems fitting perfectly in the entire structure. I write them with tons of confidence, knowing that I had thought of everything and I didn't forget anything, because everything is right there, in color, on the diagrams that I drew.3 -
Suit on, tie on, first meeting on a web project I quoted on 16 months ago (and won). frantically wading through notes and quote from the time. Think i’ll just wing it and up the price a bit.

Computer science 312 is a drag. We code in Assembly, which is cool, but the instructor actually gets his notes from tutorialspoint.com. I stopped taking notes.1

So I was wondering, in this era of technology, with so many tools and options to take and share notes, who does still prefer to take notes on paper?
While I use tools like Trello to list all the tasks with the team, for my own notes I use paper sheets, as I find easier to check on them.
Besides, if I'm stuck with something, I can doodle a bit (I even use a pencil instead of a pen :p)4 -
I am working on a small project to help out a small theatre group. The guy who created their website decided to create it with horrible UI and UX. I plan to confront him with notes on how to improve the overall experience of navigating their website and if all goes to plan, I will help rewrite the entire website.1
-
I have a question about UI/UX
I have multiple settings that user can toggle on/off.
Those settings are used to customize notifications (it's an app that saves notes to notifications)
I was wondering if I should use checkboxes or switch18 -

The contents you save will be end to end encrypted, and server won't save the key, so even I can't read or NSA or CIA.
So I wanted to know if the idea is good? There are lot of traditional note sharing apps like Google Keep and Evernote. But they store your stuff in plaintext. So as a user will u switch to this secure solution?14 -
Alright. So bye bye to sticky notes. I finally started using Wunderlist app.
No more handwriting I guess :-/2 -
I don't think it should take "years" to develop a card sorting mechanism.
Android devs do you agree?
( This is picked up from the release notes of Trello. )6 -
School stuff. Teachers have loads of pdfs and they're just giving them to us on Google Classrooms to do in our books. Maybe a tool to transform those into proper forms + marking.
Also, a revision app that scans your notes and tests you (TTS and STT).
Also, my blog and DevRant2 -
I want to access my Server from anywhere. Should i use something like noip.com (DynDNS)? Or is there a better way?12

Started a new role as a single handed Dev/analyst in a small company. Discovered by predecessor had left no handover notes on his (unnecessarily complex) weekly reports, or indeed on the table structure of any of the systems.
The three weeks into the role the managing director gets sent to prison!
For fraud.
I left...... quickly.1 -
after a 24h forced shift working to recover from a raid server failure , the first thing you do is check your notes and see if all is working fine
cool! let's go out 😎1 -
Wanted to remind you Americans that it's too late to start on a new feature, function, or debug. Go to sleep after leaving yourself some notes. You'll be better off in the morning.3

Lotus notes is a pathetic piece of shit, slow and buggy, and I am being forced to use that at work5

While preparing for a PM workshop, I spent more than an hour looking for a good sketboard, mindmapping or notes taking tool. Well I am not regretting.
I have found Joplin. It's amazing. Really appreciate and impressed that there are Developers making such awesome apps. 😍🤩😍2 -
Does anyone have any recommendations regarding self hosted documentation/"note taking" platform/server ?
I would like something with markup support, I've looked at the awesome list for self hosted services on GitHub... But there is a lot... So does anyone has any experience he or she is willing to share ? 😇
Dillinger looks nice (https://dillinger.io/) but no idea if I can save to my server instead of locally/cloud services...4 -
Hey everyone, I need some suggestions for a note taking app/method that is accessible on Linux (and maybe Android). I want to use this for keeping code snippets, todolists for different projects, etc...
I would prefer not to use Google keep for this. Thanks!!! 👨💻👨💻👨💻6 -
How do you do to get going quickly again after leaving code unfinished? To-do comments? Separate notes? Something else?6

If you give a mouse a cookie is all too real. Started sending out release notes to those who benefit from the changes and they're now asking for access to our ticket system 'just because'2

WTF WTF WTF
FUCK YOU SAMSUNG NOTE 8 NOTES APP
FYI : I was ex iPhone user.
I bought a new Samsung note 8 mobile. It has Easy Do app simillar to Notes.
So I had a meeting with business meetup with potential ideas and leads. And i was writing on this Notes app.
After the meetimg done, I closed the app.
And next day (today) I wanted to check what I have got from meetings. And fucking found that this app does not save it until you press save button.
Okay. I AGREE MAY BE MY FAULT, BUT THAT FUCKING APP SHOULD HAVE ASKED ME WHETHER I WANTED TO SAVE IT OR NOT THE SIMPLEST NOTEPAD WILL DO EVEN YOU TRY TO CLOSE IT.
FUCK IT THAT APP.12 -
Not a rant
What do you all use for taking notes? Preferably something that handles code well and is cloud based (or can be dumped into it)6 -
Take project notes on an exam pad.
Unfortunately, this is something I see virtually every day at work... Even while they're at their computer with our online project tracker open in front of them.1 -
Is it normal for "enterprise" software to have 14+ pages of known issues in the release notes, including issue descriptions that use phrases like "may lead to data corruption" and "may cause the cluster to crash"??2

Is there a better way communicating between php and java than tcp? Because this was my first idea but i try everything on localhost and the request takes up to 3 seconds...16

How do you handle your tasks? Like do you use Todo list app?
How do your handle your notes and research and snippets?
---
I used to use Standard Notes and then Simple Notes and then now using Joplin to save notes and important information.
I am testing out Everdo for my daily Todo list app. I have tried lots of Todo apps but none of them satisfied me (or maybe I'm just not good at doing tasks).10 -

I tend to do a lot of sketching and note taking and like to use pen on paper. But sick of tearing out notes and accumulating bits if paper that contain notes here and there. I was thinking of going digital with this specific task (for cheap) i don't own an ipad so was thinking of getting a Fire HD 8" and a Boxwave EverTouch stylus. Im all Apple so don't know android, would this hardware do the trick and what would be a decent note taking and organising app for it? Appreciate any advice comments. Other uses for it are irrelevant.5 -
When planning how to design some piece of software, specifically when it's object orientated, what "tools" do you use for taking notes?
I mostly prefer a white board or the ol' reliable (pen and paper)10 -
MediaWiki is a great revision tool,
I set one up and me and a few friends are adding notes on there, sometimes it's good to be a developer :) -

Needing to (re)move all my organised crime, uh, notes and stuff for the cleaning lady.
And having to tell them everytime they don't need to clean my damn keyboard and mouse as they'll ruin the traction pads and fill up the keys with fluids.. -
can you recommend any ubuntu software which would allow me setup notes on the screen?
microsoft sticky notes for windows has been very useful for me in windows env, but couldn't find an alternative for ubuntu.
A browser plugin, which could turn my opera homepage to a set of sticky notes/ clock/music widgets would also be equally awesome6 -
So I bought small notebook I've been using to jot down notes, ideas, references, etc and its helped a lot!4

So ive been cleaning my room and i found some old notes that i had, it was some lines of code that i thought up when my professor was explaining us the proj. Now my question is how does everyone else take notes of ideas or solution they come up with? even if its just random ideas.3

I will "fdroid" just for the super small app sizes. These things install like its nothing. And is it just me or sometimes their UIs are way better. Ex FOSS notes, Kiwix esp Get Off Your phone2

Hello my fellow DevRanters! 😁 A question for those of you who like to learn new stuff constantly, what are your tricks or tips you use to learn more? and enjoy the overall experience (do you write notes, read posts, etc) my reason to ask this is that oftentimes I forget everything I learned after 5 minutes, so maybe I'm doing something wrong5

In our class we have one subject where we take notes on one shared Google docs document. To be honest, this may be the worst "teamwork" that I every had to deal with.
• Simply copying the stuff from the blackboard:
• Missing context
• document consists of keywords and occasional sentences
• These fucking deep nested lists
• No quality control whatsoever
--> nobody fucking cares
• What, nobody made notes for this point?
• Any attempt to speak up result in me being scolded
• Be me, the only one not shopping on amazon instead of taking notes
• Wtf does this mean, where's the context
• one line of code without needed context code
No quality, no Motivation, no better alternatives, no fun. -
I feel like writing stuff down is like a HDD, too slow. I'd rather record my notes some other way, much faster...2

I just posted dump of my notes on linear transformations, any feedback is appreciated! ◾️▫️

Put the meeting agenda in the meeting invite: after a few meetings of you referring to those notes in a condescending manner, people will get the hint that you want them to familiarize themselves with the agenda before the meeting. It also gives you a nice reference point if you ever get off topic.

I switched from Lotus Notes to SharePoint. Now I feel like the guy from Stephen Elop's burning platform memo.7

Alright, it's before our midterms in second year PU. Our teacher tells us to teach an entire chapter on databases ourselves and splits us up into groups to teach parts of it. This isn't uncommon. In our college some teachers would give out printed notes written by themselves for particular chapters.
Our CS teacher tells us to write our own printed notes for the DB chapter and distribution among ourselves and assign the task to the same groups. Not many of us refer printed notes anyway (especially CS) so we just copy out stuff from our textbook and put in a Word document we're supposed to submit to him...
Goddammit ... The guy takes the file and then goes full fucking retard. Forces everyone to PAY FOR A COPY OF THE NOTES WE FUCKING WROTE and tells the class rep to inform if anyone doesn't take a copy. He then tells us that the money is going to the college meal program and if anyone has a problem they can ask him for the receipt.. Donate to the program fine and all but he could have told us before hand and he still forced us to do it and no one ever asked for the receipt because we guessed he was bullshitting us.4 -
My trusty ballpoint pen.
It helps me take notes, leaves notes for other team members and is great for prodding people with if I need an update on something and they have headphones in.2 -
A tiny raspberry pi server for my group of friends. I wanted a place to upload photos, join calendars, store common interest books and notes, even set up a Diaspora, just use it different than we use the web. I've been delaying it for months, and it feels like a waste...9

That moment when you realize you have to deal with git now because you have a habit of “changes now, git later” and also like commits to be clean and free of notes you leave to yourself that aren’t meant to be there after the feature is done

The worst part for me is when I think about fixing an error when I should relax. Like watching a movie and then it comes, you start thinkng about a solution, even pick a paper or notes app aaaand the fun is gone.2

I was taking notes for class and caught myself ending my sentences with semicolons earlier. Didn't bother changing it anymore. :)1

I made an infinite canvas whiteboard app specifically designed for quick notes with pen input but now I want to scale it to something bigger: a tool to allow children with DSA to take notes and study better using images, videos, gifs and sound directly into the canvas, right next to their notes.1

What do you think, does Google just have really good code structure that allows re-use at this level, or are they just coordinating release notes?2

One of my friend's brother is learning Hibernate framework and I found this in his notes today 😂😂 Kids don't want to struggle with XMLs anymore!!

Developed this project "Audio Book Generator"
Implementing speech synthesis(📖 to 🗣) on eBooks
Bored with writing notes in a lecture? How about we convert the notes dictated by the lecturer into text? Use the speechtotext.py script to get the text format of spoken notes, which saves the text in a .txt file.
Too lazy to read a novel? Get an Ebook version of the novel and run the finalAudioBookGenerator.py script. It will generate an mp3(audio) format of the book. Enjoy book listening :)
You can also convert your single images using the singleImageReader.py script.

Knowledge management. My last job had notes recorded under closed tickets. Some people use hundreds of gdocs. Others have github gists some people I've seen just have sticky notes everywhere

Is there any note taking, or password vault app which can work offline, cross platform, sync data with online storage services, like Dropbox, Google drive etc., and do encryption?6

Programming lesson #8
Nowadays I write tasks for the next day at the end of my shift in the sticky notes app.
That way it's easier to start off for the next day without trying to remember what tasks were remaining from the previous day.
If tasks are greater in number then it's good to go for external task tracking tools. But for me keeping track of just 2-3 tasks is easier by using simple sticky notes app.2 -
Does anyone know of a great note taking app that provides widget for both android and desktop? I use office notes and they are almost nailing that domain with best desktop-android sync, except that they don't have widgets for Android.4

It's always nice when I get back to work on something I shelved and I find notes from Past Me anticipating my sub-goldfish memory.1

Im grateful for this community and the people involved!
What are some tips you’d give toward learning and retaining code? Provide educational sources and strategies if you will please.
What are some tips you’d give for application development, organization and execution? Do you suggest written brainstorming at times?
Talk to me. :)2 -
I started to do handwriting again. Because I ordered a writing tablet on which I will take notes. to prepare I am taking notes on a paper notebook for now.
And I realised, I do have the handwriting of a man who writes a lot faster than I do.1 -
TFW you come back from the holidays, forget to read the notes you left yourself and spend a half hour writing code you toss when you realise what you were supposed to be doing.

Having to explain for the umpteenth time what the difference is between App Release Notes & App Description right before a release.

Do you make notes for the stuff you learn as a developer,
feel fee to discuss how you do it, like do you write a detailed blog post or write in your notebook7 -
When any rants I write, I need to put in my Password managers' "Secure Note" section because I can't post here for them becoming public.

I'm parsing the results from a hierarchical database query to make it compatible with another hierarchical database. Specifically, I'm parsing user created notes from a pipe-delimited CSV that was translated from the query result. Everything runs smoothly. I send my output to be processed through our batch system. Everything checks out as expected.
A couple blank notes throw exceptions, but I knew that was going to happen. Then suddenly, I read "Cannot create note with unprintable characters"
Okay?
Somehow this person had been able to type the Ash (æ) character and an accented A (à) this came from a system that didn't even support characters outside of alphanumerics. How? -
When business comments on a spec document by first printing it, then writing notes by hand and finally send a bunch of scanned PDFs.

need an auto correct for life, on reasonable notes I will manage with git revert also, but need atleast one of these

Paper and pencil. It's always helpful to draw little sketches and write short notes that help you to understand a problem you are trying to solve. I think mostly because you stop staring at your code and you start thinking about the problem in a different way.

So in Udemy, I am learning about OOP in Java, and the next lecture is a big challenge in making a program with all the knowledge I have learned. I understand each concept, its just its a lot to memorize, however, I get the jist of it (You've ever had that feeling?). Anyways, I started writing notes on what each concept basically was and I began with composition. Now honestly I love composition and I just learned it a while ago. It is actually the most confusing thing I have learned in Java so far, as a few months ago when I was practicing Java I didn't understand it at ALL and I stopped coding for like half a year after (I'm back bebe don't worry). So I make my notes on composition and I realize, dang, I understand this a lot more than I thought. I thought this because what I did was make a file in Eclipse (not a class, a file) and I just started writing code without auto-complete like I was a mad lad. I made classes, fields, and I FEEL like I made my point about composition with the notes I also jotted down. Anyways, this was a part story and part what do you guys think of my notes on Composition. I think they are good and actually kinda detailed. Anyways thanks for reading this!

any advice for how to write an effective annual self-evaluation?
I feel like I'm always doing my best to contribute to the team and handles all task assigned smoothly but looking at the daily notes of what I've done since last year they all seem so trivial ==''1 -
Microsoft is pissing me off, those idiots are making OneNote an cloud only application.
I use it as a small nice tool to have a bunch of notes on my workstation and a few other PCs in the network, but they have to kill it.
Why woul you even build a desktop app to take notes without the basic functionality of offline notes (or even remove that feature like mycrosoft is doing now)? It seems like they cant imagine that some people might not want their nots to be on someone elses computer all the time...4 -
Do you think you should apply for a job you are probably not ready for to get work experience or wait till you get experience with learning?

I've been using Bear which is a markdown editor with iOS and mac support. While markdown is good, I've found myself needing to use LateX for equations in my notes (doing math / theory stuff). I switched to a VS Code extension which is markdown + MathJAX. How do you guys take notes?2

Opened up my old notes. I wrote down something my linear programming and calculus lecturer said
"..we just calculate and calculate until we tire out.and hopefully we will get the solution." Yup. -
Work on my own side projects. Even just taking notes about what to do and what to avoid. When I think my own stuff avoids the conceptual flaws which cause low motivation at work, I feel fine again! Bosses never learn, but I sure do!
