In my current company we're being forced to use Windows for web development... I can't use a VM because of the hardware specs.
This is now my screensaver.58
Stranger: "what are you doing?"
Me:"I'm developing a WPF app for a personal project"
Stranger:"So it's for Windows...I prefer Linux because...blah blah"
Sometimes I feel like Linux users are the Vegans of the tech world...35
Visual Studio sucks.
Sublime Text sucks.
Windows Movie Maker is the real editor for code.34
Girlfriend (art student): “You’re in CS. Why don’t you use Windows? Macs are terrible for programming.”
Me: “macOS is better for doing command line compilation and shit because it supports Unix terminal commands and stuff with a reliable OS that’s better-supported than most Linux OSes. I also have Windows on my laptop too, for Visual Studio.”
Girlfriend: “Only like 1% of people use command line stuff. Windows is better for programming. I’ve seen a lot of CS majors use Windows.”
Me: “Uh. You watch me use my computer every day. The stuff I do in Terminal takes forever on Windows.”
Girlfriend: “Yeah, but Windows is just better for programming though.”
fuck!!! today I have fallen for the windows is updating prank
Co workers opened the fake windows update website, disconnected the keyboard and mouse
let's just say I sat there for a really loooong time.. cursing windows15
The year is 2025
"You already have videos, the trusted and safe media player for windows 10"
"You already have vscode, the better and lighter editor for windows 10"
"You already have Microsoft solitare, a fun, better game for windows 10"
*googles c++ tutorials*
"Try c#, safer and robust language for developers, oh and did we forget to mention use bing?"
*downloads arch iso*
"This file has been marked malicious by windows defender. Oh and we updated your bios to allow only windows bootloader. You're welcome."11
Dual booting: for when you're not advanced enough to use Linux all the time, but you know windows will let you down38
There are only two reasons you should use Windows:
1. You are developing for Windows.
2. You cannot live without a game which still has no Linux support.
However, the right thing to do is refuse all contracts on Windows development and quit playing games that have no Linux port.21
This rant just fucked up devRant unofficial for Windows 10.
It causes a JSON syntax error in the API response. 🤣
Thanks @kwilliams! 😁15
Me: "Delete this folder"
Windows: "Oki, done."
Me: "How is it still there, F5. Still there! Hey, you forgot to delete this one file. Fix it."
Windows: "Requires permissions."
Me: "Eh, it was my file, but here you are, my admin credentials."
Windows: "None shall pass."
Me: "Wtf, this is my computer. Who owns this file?"
Windows: "No one."
Me: "What do you mean? Oh, time for your reboot pills, ms. Wandows."
Windows: "Noooooo... ... ... Welcome."
Me: "Ha, the file is gone. Glorious victory."
Windows: "It's just a flash wound."

The new version of the (unofficial) client for Windows 10 mobile is now available! 😁
devRant unofficial (previously devFeed) has been updated to v188.8.131.52 and came out of beta! Over 40 changes since v0.9.10.0 beta.
For those who think that no one uses Windows 10 mobile, the latest version has been downloaded 460+ times! 😉40
A quite normal Windows day:
Bios to Windows: "Go now! Get up!"
Windows to Bios: "Always slow with the young circuit boards."
"I've got something weird on screen."
Windows' answer: "Ignore it first."
Hardware assistant to Windows: "The user puts pressure. He wants me to identify this thing. Could be an ISDN card."
Windows: "Well, well."
Unknown ISDN card to all: "Will you please let me in?"
Network card to intruder: "You can't spread out here!"
Windows: "Quiet in the case! Or I'll cut both their support!"
Device Manager: "Offer compromise. The network card is allowed on Mondays, the ISDN card is on Tuesday."
Graphics card to Windows: "My driver retired yesterday. I'm crashing now."
Windows to graphics card: "When will you be back?"
Graphics card: "Well, not at first."
CD-Rom drive to Windows: "uh, I would have a new driver here..."
Windows: "What's ich´n supposed to do with it?!"
Installation software to Windows: "Leave it, I'll mach´ that already."
Windows: "That's nice to hear."
USB connection to interrupt management: "Alarm! Just been penetrated by a scanner cable. Request response."
Interrupt management: "Where are you coming from?"
USB connection: "I was in the computer right from the start. I'm joined by another colleague."
"You're not on my list." - "Say something."
Windows: "Hopefully there won't be another printer."
Graphics card: "The new driver twitches."
Windows: "We'll just have to get the old one out of retirement."
Uninstall program to new driver: "Go away."
Unwanted driver: "Fuck you."
Windows to Norton Utilities: "Kill him and his brood!"
Utilities to driver rests: "Sorry, we have to delete you."
Important system file: "Arrrrrrgghh!"
Windows on blue screen: "Gib´, the Norton Boys are over the top again."
Blue screen to user: "So, that's it for this week."
Excuse me for stealing your time
And I know it's way too long7
Gotta love how straightforward the installation guide for Elixir is written for windows
(I'll choose the second one though)2

How is Nascar and Windows similar?
You don't watch Nascar for the race, you watch it for the crashes2
Someone wasn't in a very good mood that day :p

Does anyone else hate the screens after you're done updating Windows 10. "Hi, we've updated your computer"
Like no shit Windows I just spent 4 hours waiting for you to finish updating and 5 restarts later.8
hate it when Linux users talk like they own the cyber world.. linux is bla bla windows is shit shit..
I am not a linux fan, nor a Windows fan. just I use what is the best for the requirements22
When you have motivation for coding early in the morning but Windows would like to update your PC just after you have turned it on7
More than half my class: "I prefer the gui from git for Windows to the command line"
The same half: "whoops... How do I revert that?"14
Just saw a blue screen of death In the top of a taxi cab. Had no idea these kind of signs were running Windows. Why are so many companies buying licenses for Windows when they could so easily use Linux ?21
Windows environment variables dialog. What the actual fuck. For like 15 years you couldnt change the size of the fucking window.2
// devRant unofficial UWP update (v184.108.40.206)
devRant++ badges and extended rants and comments editing time (up to 30 mins for subscribers) are available also on Windows 10.
To subscribe you still need (I hope only for now) the official Android or iOS app.
But if someone is using also the PC Windows 10 version maybe is happy to see that. 😉
Got a windows 10 bsod today because of tsc, my file got all fucked. -_- thank the lord of light for git, only lost a small bit of work

Found this at my grandmothers house... Check out caption "compete free on the internet" and for Windows 955
I thought I try to install windows XP and go thru the upgrades in a virtual machine. I will install every update for that version of Windows and then proceed to upgrade to the next version.
XP => Vista => 7 => 8 => 8.1 => 10
I'll was going to do the very first windows but, I had an XP install disk, so I am starting with that.45
On Windows: Use Tools and scripts to stop/uninstall/deactivate functionality so that the OS becomes useful for me.
On Debian: Use Tools and scripts to start/install/activate functionality so that the OS becomes useful for me.
Windows 10: if there is a way to condensate all the shit of the world into a single Operating System, Microsoft has it found that way for sure.10
Sometimes, I wish to punch Bill Gates in the face for founding Microsoft which created Windows 10.
Advertisement boards at german undergound station.
Thank you windows for the bright blue light down there under ground <34
As a lifelong Windows user who recently started using a Mac (for iOS dev), I have to say, my mind is blown. I now get the Mac hype.7
If the whole 'Linux kernel in windows' actually ends up being good, I think many developers run out of good arguments for buying a Mac. Myself included10
I used to be someone who disliked microsoft and windows, but with the new CEO Satya Nadella things are going in the right direction. Really love the stuff microsoft is doing right now! bash for windows, 24 bit color console, visual studio code and the monaco editor, dotnet core ... lately I have switched to windows 10 from OSX and I couldn't be happier :)21
- Switching to Linux entirely
- Learning how to use the shell
- Using Windows 8
- Hardcoded passwords (I built a small thing for myself, don't judge)3
I have to do 3 hours of offline coding for a job interview.
Started my Windows VM 30mins earlier:
Now at 33% and the mail describing what I should do comes in 8mins.
I hardly use Windows, but had to book tickets using my friend's laptop who only had Windows.
So I switch on my mobile data, and the stupid shit just ate up all my data in updating Windows without even asking for permission 😣
Learnt my lesson23
They really need to improve the algorithm that is searching for things in Windows Explorer. Literally:
Windows: *Searching for files in Downloads*
Me: I just typed .mp4, what is taking so long!?
Windows: *No results.*4
When you ask for a Linux machine and the PM tells you that you can only use Windows and whisper in your ear : you can still use Cygwin ...17
I've always had a fetish for progress bars.
My favourite one? The green glowing one from Windows Vista.17
The feeling when you type "ls" in Windows CMD and wait for output. But it's say, "ls is not recognized as internal or external command".14
Microsoft will roll out the real Curl in Windows 10 now. It's already released for Insider-Builds.14
Cross platform terminal library is just about complete!
Here's the same program running in both Windows and "Ubuntu" (WSL, but it's using the ncurses back-end nonetheless)
What my library does:
- Double-buffers the console for drawing (like curses does)
- Translates input into a standard structure (Linux and Windows have different input systems, obviously)
- Does the same thing for output
- Even supports color!3
windows: cant uninstall because program is still running
me: *opens task manager* ITS NOT RUNNING
windows: cant uninstall because program is still running
for gods sake, ill just restart the damn computer4
Actually I'm pleasantly surprised about Windows' stability nowadays. It's capable for running for up to a week with no stability issues, whereas systemd on the other hand.. let's just say that my Arch containers could do better right now.
Data mining aside, damn man.. Microsoft is improving for once! Is this the so-many'th unusable/somewhat stable switch? I mean, it's not like we haven't seen that happen yet! Windows 98, shit! Windows 2000, kinda alright! Windows Me, shit! Windows XP, kinda alright! Windows Vista, oh don't even get me started on that pile of garbage! Windows 7, again kinda okay! Windows 8, WHERE THE FUCK DID THAT START MENU GO YOU MOTHERFUCKERS?!!! Windows 10, well at least that Start menu got fixed. Then it got into some severe QA issues, which now seem to have gotten somewhat fixed again.
I'm starting to see a pattern here! 🤔13
I become Windows insider as soon it was announced. I have been using Skip head branch for my main pc for the last 5 years.
It meant installing at least three windows version every month for the last 5 years. It was a good journey(Still going on).
The one thing surprised me that in those last 5 years that windows never started installing the update when I was working. Not a single time my work or progress was lost due to windows update.6
Installing Windows after Ubuntu is not the recommended process for a dual boot Windows and Ubuntu system, but it is possible. 😂6
I forgot the rant owner but there was a rant about annoying border alignment of windows calculator app.
Good news for you. Windows made it open source now. 🕺2
Dev colleague when searching something on Windows:
* Click the windows button
* Click the search button next to windows button
* Type the search string
* Wait for results to load
* Use the mouse again to click the first search result.
I try to keep calm, but this annoys me soooooo much... 😫4
When you walk away from your Windows 10 box for a meeting and come back in the middle of an unsolicited reboot. Where's my axe?3
Thank you Syncex for one of the best powershell scripts ever. This literally sped up my laptop and surface :35
Today at work:
- Oh a new critical update for windows
*installing the update and restart*
System crashed and i have to reinstall windows -.-
Now i know why they call it „critical“ update for windows ;)1
Windows: would you like to update?
Me: no not rn I'm currently on battery and traveling, let me just quickly restart.
Windows: Okay I'll install the latest updates for you.
Me: oh FFS11
Company switched some users from windows 7 to windows 10 overnight. Installation failed for most of the Dev team.
- No admin access
- Files missing
- Programs missing
Result : we can't work :/5
I had to use windows the other day and completely forgot how to do basic tasks.... Back to Linux for me.
Also... Windows has gotten so freaking restrictive since the last time I used it as my main. (Win7)4
Windows 10 - suspiciously free upgrade and "pirate friendly."
Microsoft - really rolling with the hardware scene lately.
Windows 10 Updates - suspiciously destroyed the hardware in 4 laptops and a desktop I've worked on putting the owners in the market for new Microsoft hardware.
I googled - "What does refresh from windows right click menu do?"
I got a reply - "Search instead for why the hell it is there in first place"2
Windows decides to download Creative update.
I restart the computer wait for the update to finish.
I see the login screen.
I log in, then windows says:
"Hi, we have an update for you this might take a few minutes!"
What the serious fuck windows? Did you need me to login so that you can waste more of my time?3
Currently using a Windows laptop at work and have been given the option for a Mac. Should I make the switch?36
All these Windows Update rants and I haven't waited more than 5 seconds for win to boot in the last two months...2
Got the cheapest laptop I could find that would run Windows mixed reality.
Installed Linux subsystem for Windows and Ubuntu.
Nothing but giant flying terminal windows across my view of a virtual Seascape.
This is my new home.4
Today the Git for Windows updater asked if I wanted to let Git decide on the naming of my default branch... Hell no snowflakes!17
I love Docker... but i absolutely fucking hate Docker for Windows.
No matter what I fucking do after a couple of hours messing around i find the "its a known limitation on Docker for Windows..." FUCK YOU14
The company I work for insists on having windows on every work laptop although the work I do doesn't require windows. I bought a new hdd, replaced the old one and installed gentoo. Not sure if they could fire me if they found out, however my productivity increased from the first day on.15
Stupid piece of legacy shit needing to silent print without the dialogs in IE on windows 10.
this is proving to be a thing of nightmares.
this has worked for years but no windows need to block this “for security”
windows and security - i would laugh but this is going to keep me awake at night.1
Starting working on a Windows Universal version of DevRant for my windows buddy so he could enjoy the hilarity, and so I could have a native client on my desktop. Then I realized the API is read only. Sad day. @dfox any possibility of having a registration process or something for devs to post to the API?11
May the people responsible for the decision to let Windows 10 wake up people's PCs from sleep mode in the middle of the night to install patches and then force-restart be tortured for eternity in hell. All of the hells. Of every religion. At the same time. While having to stare at a Windows ME bluescreen of death without the ability to blink or look away. For 65535 eternities. Followed by a buffer overflow.5
I'm switching companies. Gonna have to use Windows, grr. No Linux for development machines. :(
How do you guys keep yourself productive in Windows? I honestly can't in its bare state.
Best idea, for now, is just using a VM on top of Windows and ignore the Host OS.13
I am taking the plunge and making Vim my exclusive editor.
Suggestions for running Vim (gVim) on Windows?7
WINDOWS!!! Why, just why would you think that choosing frigging "Enter" as the copy key in cmd was a good idea?!?
At least for pasting, Ctrl+Shift+V works, it just jumps through some menus first, for whatever reason. But Ctrl+Shift+C doesn't work.
In general, after using a Linux console a lot recently, everything about the Windows console seems stupid to me.11
Big-time Microsoft fan who claims they've been using licensed versions of Windows since Windows 3.0. Still has all old versions of Windows on different machines / hard-disks. They use only Microsoft Surface devices. They still use Nokia Lumia (with Windows Phone 10). They were working with an organization that used Office365 for enterprise email and collaboration. They used Microsoft Teams for team collaboration when the rest of the organization was comfortable with Atlassian tools like jira, confluence and bitbucket.
One fine day, news spreads that the organization is moving into GSuite for enterprise email and collaboration. They are devastated. They quit citing personal and family reasons, but we knew the real reason.16
The more I study IT and programming languages, the more I'm leaving Windows for Unix. Windows feels so heavy, I don't know why.5
Predominantly a Microsoft Stack Dev, used Windows for the last 14 years.
Switched to linux mint for the last couple of weeks. Trust me its a breath of fresh air. Fast and smooth. True to its promises, minds its business.
Windows is nothing but a cranky, annoying, slow talking bitch!13
Installing Linux (Ubuntu) for the first time from Windows. Any tips/tricks I could use to get used to my new environment?29
Didn't touch windows for about 8 years and just installing it for the sake playing The Sims 4. Downloading a couple of software and got 100 malware -_-17
Bind's unpopular opinions, chapter #fuckyou:
Linux for server, windows for desktop.
Tune in for the next episode where we fight off angery linux fanboys6
windows booted up into a blue screen for a second before going to the login screen.
i almost had a heart attack2
Finally left windows completely for Linux. Currently running elementary OS and it is the best choice I ever made7
elementary OS, hands down, is my favourite. They eat for breakfast the people who think Windows is easy and macOS is pretty. Fucking cannibals.3
Unexpected downside to using a Windows VM for dev related work : once my Windows host (finally) finished updating, I powered on the VM...and that started updating too. FML :/
The last reason for keeping windows on my laptop ceased to exist so now im watching as linux is installing :')6
I had my first crash on Windows 10. It takes ten seconds for Microsoft to take the crash info but, 10 hours to update.6
Decided to go back to windows for a bit after not using it for about 6 months (on physical hardware) and literally forgot there was a start menu, minimise button, taskbar and that the window controls are on the right...
I have done the impossible and almost forgotten how to use windows, not sure if this is a good or bad sign9
So Docker Desktop only runs on Windows 10 Pro. Unfortunate for Windows 10 Home users that comes installed with their laptops like me. Gotta install the legacy Docker Toolbox26
- Dual boot to windows.
- Do some stuff.
- 2% Battery left.
- Alright, shutdown.
- Windows prepare to update.
Me: Fuck... forgot about Creator update.
(Run boy run -> to the AC adapter)
(Freeze windows for too long....)
(Mostly use Arch)
Windows being non-intrusive again on the payment device in our college’s cafeteria :)
Did you hear that in the next Windows 10 release even in Home Edition you can go pause Windows Updates for a specific timespan for example during important projects? How do you think about that.21
FUCK THE WINDOWS TEXT EDITOR FOR USING UNICODE WITHOUT TELLING ME. I SPEND HALF AN OUR FIGURING OUT WHY "1" COULDN'T BE PARSED INTO AN INTEGER.
I dual boot windows and Linux. I use Windows primarily for light gaming on the weekends.
Somehow, the windows updates have successfully managed to break my grub menu, and my Linux partition is booting into Grub Rescue mode.
Right now tolerating the windows updates, which have been painfully going on for the past 2 hours now. Later, I'll have to deal with fixing my Linux partition boot.5
Ok I fucked up.. I installed elementary OS on a USB from my school pc..
Windows still work but I have to plug in the elementaryOS USB for grub to boot so I can boot windows
Wow... so i split my ssd into 2 partitions, one for Windows and one for ubuntu. After booting into ubuntu multiple times and it works fine, i boot into windows for a while. Next boot i get met with the grub rescue screen... apparently when i booted into windows it deleted my ubuntu partition and allocated the space back to its partition. 😐3
Windows 10 upgraded yesterday. Went to do a bit of work today, loads of stuff for my development environment wasn't working. The reason? The Windows 10 upgrade completely wiped my Users path and System path env variable.3
American Express is proud to be the official card for Universal Orlando. It also uses Windows XP. WHAT IS THIS? WHAT ALTERNATE DIMENSION AM I LIVING IN? Meh, still better than Windows 10.1
Of course there's one of these in the airport.
Why do they even use Windows for just a monitor I will never understand...4
“You’ve turned on laptop just to check if the screen works? I hope you got some time for Windows Updates”6
I've used a Mac for 2 months and already love it. I've been a Windows user for like 10+ years but holy fuck, Windows is a giant pile of flaming fucking trash. Looking back, I don't even know why I continued to use it after the launch of that absolutely abysmal "OS" they called Windows 8.12
- New Windows installation
- Decides to update windows
- 5 hour leater:
- Still updating: 2/583727
- Thinks Linux is better
- Stay in front of my computer waiting for the update to finish1
Windows user(non-coder): Linux? The boring dull look, which does nothing!
Me: why do you use Windows?
User: looks amazing, and specially for games:)
Me: yeah, Somebody who was in love with Linux created that damn game!8
Using the Windows XP address book.......at a school.....for teachers details.....accessible to all students.
Then they wonder how the teachers were getting so many prank calls.
Update on the bank I’m working for: their security is shit and the way they manage customer data and credentials is sickening. On top of it all, there’s about 10 windows XP computers still online not to mention the ATM is running Windows XP. What the flying fuck.1
Internet connnection gone.
Windows-help: Search online for a solution.
Thanks Microsoft for the good idea!1
What is the point of using either Windows or macOS instead of GNU for development these days if you are neither an enterprise developer nor a visual designer?24
I am about fed up with Windows.
I leave app/programs open at night because I have a bad memory, and they were important to what I was doing.
I wake up: Windows Login Screen. Apparentally windows decided to restart my computer during the night.
Ohh what joy.~
Now I have to rememeber what the fuck I had open - and it was mostly work related.
I would have left for Linux ages ago, but I'm a gamer.. And most of my games are for windows.. Some are even Windows Store Apps..
Windows.. Why don't you give a shit about us..
And before you ask..
I have Auto Updates Disabled (Not that that really fucking matters with windows..)
I have all sleep and power saver settings disabled.14
When ActiveX is proposed as a solution for a staff facing web application, but all the staff run Windows 10 and use Edge or Chrome...2
Oh my god did you know the Windows registry has a folder for icon overlays, like the little checkmarks on OneDrive and Dropbox files?
Guess what. Windows only loads the first like 13 of the registered overlays *in alphabetical order* which has programs fight over the top spots by prepending spaces and whatnot on their registry keys. What a great system...4
Open my Acer laptop this morning to the Windows 10 "blue screen of forced updates". Patiently wait the 10 minutes for it to finish. Now my touch pad has stopped working. Using the touch screen to get to manufacturer website only to find out that my particular version of laptop isn't supported in this version of Windows 10. Let the googling begin. Thanks Windows 10.6
When you just want to reboot but Windows decides to do this for 20 minutes.
Windows is the best OS :^)2
Setting the bar for the week pretty low, Monday morning bug involves downloading a copy of Safari for Windows.4
I think it's about time I Dual booted my Home PC with Windows 10 and Ubuntu GNOME. Been living the Windows exclusive life for to long.
It's all about having options.10
I've been a Windows OS user for nearly 20 years, Mac OS user for nearly 2. (Java/ C# dev)
I've had more BSOD on the Mac than on Windows. I've had 2 today, once when opening the laptop after not touching it this weekend, second whole in a debug of an app.6
Guess I asked for it by joining the Windows Insider fast lane but my desktop background has disappeared :((3
Lmao I have a class that the professor described as "50 to 60% linux"
Is this karma for liking windows?14
Will using Windows XP for healthcare-data be illegal under the GDPR?
June is gonna be a fun month full of lawsuits/investigations 🎉6
When you go to Windows from Linux after long time and Windows fucks you up by its freaking updates. The whole time waiting, I felt Windows was indirectly saying, "You left me for someone else and now you want me back? Suffer bitch!4
Tried several Linux distros and every single one has performance issues for some reason while Windows is stable. I am confused and can't find the reason for it. I like Linux very much but it's unusable for me.32
Can't for the life of me get that iso bootable on that usb stick in linux. Etcher is crap. dd makes the stick unmountable for some reason.
Rufus on windows was so freaking reliable...11
Windows Update prompted me to install the 1809 update for Windows 10 recently.
I left the machine for a while and came back to find it frozen at a completely blank screen.
It eventually restarted...and got stuck in a continual loop where the Windows logo would flash for a second and then instantly restart again.
The restart occurred so early in the boot process that I couldn’t even get it into recovery mode or do anything with it to fix it.
So I had no choice but to reinstall Windows from scratch and reinstall and restore all my software and files. Took about 7 hours.
That time after you changed to Linux and you really need windows...
Trying to root my new server :( Don't know why can only use USB1 on my VirtualBox VM... Fuck man26
I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're refering to as windows, is in fact, NSA/windows, or as I've recently taken to calling it, NSA plus Windows. Windows is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning NSA system made useful by the NSA corelibs, spyware and data collection system components comprising a full surveillance system.
Many computer users run a modified version of the NSA system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of the NSA data collection system which is widely used today is often called Windows, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the NSA system, developed by the NSA.
There really is a Windows, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Windows is the piece of trash: the program in the system that steals the system resources from the other programs that you run. This piece of crap is an essential part of an NSA system, but useless in practice; it can only function in the context of a complete NSA system. Windows is normally used in combination with the NSA surveilance system: the whole system is basically NSA with Windows added, or NSA/Windows. All the so-called Windows systems are really distributions of NSA/Windows!
Is dual booting between linux (specifically pop os) and windows 10 possible these days or do we have still the grub ignores windows and/or windows ignores linux problems?
Please spare me with comments about windows, I'm sorry that you use a Home edition which has limited settings or you're too bigoted to accept other concepts than linux'.
I'd like to have 3 partitions: around 40 gigs for pop os, 120 gigs ntfs Windows and the rest as ntfs for data. Any articles or experience made in the last months is appreciated.11
Is it just me or is the Audio driver for Antergos WAAAY better than the one on Windows? Big diffrence for me at least.
Also, huge thanks to whoever made devRantron available on AUR.11
That moment when Windows locks your computer, forces you to reboot, only so it can install the 28,348 updates that you've been pushing off for the last week.5
Spent the last hour updating windows... Then Windows decided to not complete it and undoing changes. For fucks sake its friday night and I just want to play my fucking game!1
I have to install windows for this project because I usually work in spare half hours and the virtual machine takes 15 minutes to boot.
I tried to Google what to do if my only windows machine has space on the secondary disk only, because the install media creator requires 8 gigabytes. The only answers were mocking the op for buying a 50 GB SSD. I didn't even start working and I already hate the windows community.4
Windows 11 will be forced on Windows 10 users through similar tactics as Windows 10 was forced on users.
I started looking at how to prevent this. The wording from some tech support people seemed to indicate this.
The response seems like, "oh yeah, some will be forced, like home users."
Don't trust these MS assholes at all.
I am thinking of getting a third drive and installing SteamOS. See if it is "really" an option for some games.28
Dear Windows Defender,
why do you automatically delete my shit? I thought i turned you off for the n'th time already.
Fuck off, i have bitdefender.3
Fucking love it when the windows copy/move dialog gets stuck at 100% with 0 items remaining and I can't get rid of the damn window for 20 seconds.
Windows is obviously the superior OS.11
Man I fucking love debugging Windows applications... OpenVPN dun shit the bed because the management interface is locked (on the Windows client I presume?) - so poke that error message into the Gargler along with "openvpn windows"... First result, OpenVPN forums. Excellent. ... Some dickhead in the forums: "this is the wrong forum, this is for Access-Server users, and you the user MUST have terminated the process".
Come fucking on! If only I could replace this fucking device with a proper OS already (and no I can't). Windows itself being a clusterfuck is one thing but the goddamn support around it. Atrocious!4
Am I the only one who is still using Windows 7 for non geeky stuff?!
Fuck your updates, dear Microsoft. Fuck them.9
I find it funny that, one of the most expected features on Windows, is not even a Windows feature. The teams at Microsoft must be feeling the same way we feel when, after a huge project, the client gets super excited when we implement or change something really, really small, that we did in a couple hours, just for fun.
A colegue of mine replaced his Windows installation for Ubuntu. Then he replaced the Ubuntu wallpaper for the Windows 10 wallpaper and installed a dock with the Snow Leopard theme.
Since there's ricers in the car scene, I think he's a desktop ricer.5
What the hell Windows !!!
I go for a 15 minutes break, and you decide to close everything and make an update??
Let me do my job you sob.8
I work everyday with a x16 app that is written in vb3 for Windows 3.1 that runs "natively" on Windows 95, adapted to work in Windows XP, somehow the app works on Windows 7 and in this moment some people is working to make the app works on Windows 10...
You should imagine how good the app behavior is...1
I'm sick of companies putting 1.1GHz CPUs and 4GB of RAM in a laptop, Windows takes up all of the processing power and nothing is left for programs9
I don't generally agree with the death sentence, but maaaybe it should be allowed specifically for the person who created the current iteration of Windows Update. Just got woken up by a video playing on my computer, which happened because Windows fucking Update thought it was a good time to reboot for no reason.
So I had to give my old laptop to my cousin who is in 9th standard for his online exams and classes .
(Just for context : I had installed manjaro on that old machine)
When I heard from my mother that his parents are coming to my house to borrow it from me I had to install windows because my cousin is not into tech that much and he barely could use windows 7 . ( The old laptop was shut down for a month or so) When I tried to install windows 10 . Machine started making beep beep noises . And I couldn't Install the windows because I had 30minitues to install a good os that my cousin could use . But guess what the Bastard windows , didn't get installed . I then installed manjaro and guided him the basics of how to navigate .
I hope he'll like it.
Again proved : Windows Sucks like hell.2
I learned how to use the MacOS and Linux command lines first, so it's been a constant pet peeve of mine that I had to use dir for the purpose of ls on Windows. Today I tried to make ls an alias for dir, but noooooo... Windows uses the doskey command instead. I can't even make alias a macro for doskey either so I'm stuck at least with that shortcut that only Windows uses. #FuckWindows7
So I have been living in a room without natrual light for a year. For the first time I'm looking forward to having windows.1
I'm not one of those "windows sucks lol" guys, but I got used to having my dev environment set on Linux and due to some technical problems I'm setting things up on Windows for a while (dual boot).
Now... Jesus CHRIST how annoying this is. First, I use Laravel and the whole documentation assumes you're either using Mac or Linux. Second, everything has to be added to the god-damned PATH. Third, Windows sole purpose now seems to be updating the PC (and hogging my bandwidth in the process) so I had to waste time taming the beast called Windows Update.
Again, not the stupid old Linux vs Windows thing. I use both for different things, but had never set up a dev environment on Windows.14
Bash for Windows 10? Not for me, it seems. Installation never finishes and disabling the and re-enabling the Linux sub-system with far excessive restarts after doesn't help either. Git bash will have to do.4
This is bloody annoying me! On Windows 10 while you have taskbar on top (because that's most comfortable for me) most of apps show behind the taskbar :<4
How the fuck does Windows not have a zip command!? I mean there's a Powershell command but it *only* took until 2016 for that to be a thing!3
What to do when you encounter a problem in windows? - REBOOT.
What for Linux problems? - BE ROOT!
Caption: `sudo` is the king :)2
Feels good to be back! XD In the last few months I took peoples advice and ditched windows went for Kbuntu and 4 months down the line I'm never going back to windows :D
have been using Windows in my laptop for over 5 years. This is the first time it has happened. This should not have happened :@7
For windows: Sublime
For linux tty: Vim
VSCode is a bloated piece of shit which can't open a folder without rebooting the whole window. It's only nice next to the rest of the bloated shit out there.19
My office Mac has ruined the development experience for my personal Windows.
Mac is just so freaking good.7
Just when I thought Microsoft is going in the right direction with the launch of dark Surface products and dark mode for Windows, they took all my hopes away with their shitty Windows Update thing. Completed download and rebooted to find out that the update has vanished. Great, thanks for wasting my data, Windows. :3
Windows containers with Kubernetes on AWS and Azure are thing now.
What does that mean? Is it now possible to containerize system critical windows 3.1 legacy software from the 90ties (like the ticketing software at Airport Paris Orly) and orchestrate it in the cloud?
Do you know any use cases for Microsoft Windows in the cloud?2
When you set your Windows machine up the right way, but the ONE time you actually need IE for testing and you realise...
Your past self is way too good for you...3
When you arrive to work and remember you have to work with Windows and you are a linux lover.2
The hardest thing I've done in the last few years, was leaving microsofts fucking insider program for windows, so hard to fucking get out. Fuck you microsoft.
For those of you who want something comparable to the full Dark themes people have used on Linux for years here's a high contrast windows theme that doesn't look like garbage. I'm absolutely in love with it and will never go back. It's my favorite theme since the Windows classic theme. Also it's just a theme profile, so no worries about modding files or installing some malware infested theme manager.
cmder for windows <3, also waiting patiently for native windows terminal! What you guys think of the new announcement from Microsoft about the new terminal?
(in before *laughs in linux)2
after about three months of unsuccessful attempts, my windows just managed to install the "create falls update", or whatever is it called.
anyone up for a celebration? 🎉2
for OSX users: please comment with the top 3 reasons of why do you prefer it over Windows and Linux. Thanks a lot.12
I'm fear this day might come to Software too. You buy a *full* licence for Windows Pro and you get the ServicePack2, because the Windows and SP1 cannot be [for some reason; legally?] used in your area.
What the f...12
Today after 6 years I used windows in my cousin's laptop for the first time... I felt really bad for the people still using windows..
Tried to fix a dll problem in her system and still no idea how to fix that shit...
Great job Microsoft...11
Ok so there are a lot of things out there like #WhyIUseLinux, well as a Linux lover that is stuck using windows, I say we start a 'why I use windows' discussion.
For me, I'm stuck on windows simply because the game development engine I use is only on windows and mac and doesn't seem to play nicrly when run on a VM, if the software was released on Linux I would swap over in a heart beat!5
Well, apparently, I have windows 11 now.
I was in Windows Insider program, but I had selected the option to opt-out at next update (maybe 4 months ago).
Either that didn't work correctly or Windows 11 was technically the next update because last night I did a little update (it really only took like half an hour, which isn't unheard of for some Windows updates) and when I turned on the PC today, I have Windows 11 Pro
Dual booted Linux Mint and Windows from an SSD for the first time.
Why did I take so long to do this for myself?!5
Back in 2013, My CEO hired a new Manager for the R&D department, who supposedly had over 15 years of extensive experience with Windows and Windows server.
On his first day he suddenly turns toward my colleague, who is sitting right next to me and asks "Do you have a setup for Sticky Notes?", we were using "Windows 7".
The entire room turns toward him as he said that and started laughing quietly.
So Windows released a faulty update that broke the driver for my external harddrive. Now I don't have enough space for the update...4
Cold Turkey is the best distraction blocker I have used so far for Windows and macOS.
So Pop!_OS is my primary OS for development and Windows is my primary OS for gaming. I have Pop!_OS installed on my laptop (alongside Windows but I almost never use Windows on my laptop) and Windows on my desktop gaming computer.
One of the things I love about Debian-based OSes like Pop is the apt package manager. One of the things I've always hated about Windows is the fact it was lacking a cli package manager like apt.
Then I did a Google search for one and found Chocolatey. Curious about it, I installed it on my laptop (I was in Windows at the time to use FL Studio, which I've found doesn't work very happily with Wine.) With Chocolatey, I installed VirtualBox and Vagrant, and I have to say, I'm not disappointed. I'm ecstatic I've finally found a cli package manager for Windows.
TL;DR: If you use Windows and you don't have Chocolatey, get it.1
My computer just take fire. Hmm i think he dislike the new installation of windows :/
Well, be happy to have some other stuff for work !1
hmmm more rants about Linux than about Windows?
Actually analysing better, most of "rants" about Linux are actually expressions of love.
I can't find however any expression of love for Windows.
So the question remains open6
Recently I wondered why so many people complained about Windows 10. I had no issues, no crashes, and no bluescreens. Everything was fine.
Then the "anniversary update" installed. After days of restoring partitions, reinstalling, boot repairs and blue screens I realized Windows 10 is now incompatible with my PC.
Well, good thing MS extended support for Windows 7...
Wait since when has the default windows IIS tools allowed for custom subdomains on localhost?!
So I've been swapping out all my code for no reason...1
Dear Docker for Windows I know you exist to make devs on Windows life easier. But DEAR GOD, with all the firewall/group policy problems..you have been the pain of my existence during this short time developing on Windows.
Literally have a countdown on the time left until I get to no longer do a rain dance for my development environment to work.2
Installed chocolatey for the first time because hey a package manager for windows sounds cool
Turns out it automatically installs random ass windows updates
Fuck that noise7
why the fuck is the fucking windows embedded kernel changing the utc time when changing the current daylight setting. its not supposed to change for fucks sake..per definition....its the local time that shall change...ridiculous..
"It takes A and B and C and X and ... to make this work on Windows"
What? Nooo really? Making Linux tools work on Windows takes more effort than on Linux? And it must totally be Windows' fault, right?
Pull your head out of the ass already. Running Windows tools on Linux takes just as much effort and just as many extra steps, and the same goes whenever you try to run any software on a system it wasn't made for.18
Plan for the day: Reinstall Windows on an old desktop
That changed when I didn't get a display to do anything with1
Why is my the fingerprint for my public ssh-key seen not as a sha256-fingerprint?
I am trying to get my company to support Linux (Fedora) for engineers. Currently we support Windows and Mac. Does any of you have some good reasons for my case to make my argument for the business perspective?23
So windows is finnaly getting tabs for most applications... So of course they aren't called tabs and they are acting like they reinvented the wheel!4
Devrant for Windows
How many Devrant programs are for windows? and which one you think is the best?
I saw 4 so far...
PS.: Moved back to windows, sorry guys. Linux just doesn't have some specific software that a windows user expects... And I still have my VMs with Ubuntu.8
I swear, I started yesterday windows once for some guilty gaming. ONCE
Tried to connect Bluetooth headset
-> BSOD on the first try. Fuckn os can't handle shit
Works second time.
*Finish gaming business*
Want to shut down windows
"oh, I can only shutdown if I install your fucking update? Well fuck me pls no delet pingu partition
Next day. Pingu is alive. Wanna connect headphones.
* Connection: yes
* Connection: yes
Fuckn ok, does it still work in windows?
Spoiler: fucking no! Very cool. I didn't there would be a better waste of time than gaming, but windows always fund a way to fuck you shit up.
Windows vista was less of a pain, windows 7 a nice memory and this is just an abortion fucking kept alive for the proving god that human can create a better hell for people than lucifer could ever imagine.
Way to go windows, I appreciate MacOS now1
Windows diagnostic tool wants to search for a solution to my desktop's network problems on the internet :/
Plus, I discovered my Windows installation created 40+ ethernet connections on its' own behalf... Time to wipe Windows.. :/
Luckily I use Linux on my Notebook...2
Question for WSL users.
What's your workflow?
How do you edit the code from your IDE on Windows while the application is running in Linux?15
Has anyone regretted wiping their Windows PC for Linux? Ive been wanting to wiped my PC for Ubuntu but I don't have the guts to do it. I keep thinking maybe I'll need Windows later.12
WTF.... did the latest Windows 10 update just screw up Visual Studios 2017....
XAML Designer won't load.... so much for my plans to code....3
can you recommend any ubuntu software which would allow me setup notes on the screen?
microsoft sticky notes for windows has been very useful for me in windows env, but couldn't find an alternative for ubuntu.
A browser plugin, which could turn my opera homepage to a set of sticky notes/ clock/music widgets would also be equally awesome6
Anyone else get a real kick out of the fact that Microsoft has their own version control, but they still use Git for Windows?6
Is looking for the string "cv" too much for a folder with 962 files and 116 folders having a total of 753MB?
Apparently, it is for the Windows Explorer.
The manager get me a new framework for a project in iOS.
But there is one problem, he unzip the framework in Windows OS, unfortunately in Windows unzip file differently from OS X. the result is a framework very strange, and it doesn't work!
You understand the battle between me and him.5
I am waiting for the Windows terminal server to log me off. It is currently waiting for Explorer.
"Playing log off sound"
I need to use the ugly Windows to create a dammit dynamic pdf file because the Adobesoftware isnt avaiable for Macintosh...
Been waiting 5 minutes already. I'm done Windows, shut down already. What the hell are you waiting for?8
Worked with Linux for a few years, now I need to write something for Windows so I installed and got to it.
God the pathing hurts my eyes.
Atm, the most painful tooling is Rational ClearCase for version control (wtf?!) and IBM DOORS for reqs and test specs on a Windows machine.
Productivity = -13
The Windows 10 Mobile division had just gotten together for after work beer, when they heard the latest sales numbers.1
FUCKING FUCK WINDOWS FUCKINGHANGS IN LOCK SCREEN AFTER WAKEUP FROM SLEEP FOR THE THIRD FUCKING TIME TODAY FUCK YOU WINDOWS. JUST CAN'T REBOOT EVERY FUCKING TIME3
Why is Ruby on Rails such pain in the ass on Windows? A college of mine uses Windows for our project, since I use Linux I rarely get any errors :)2
Hm... Windows 11 supported Android apps, and Microsoft Store will give devs 100% of sales.... For now....
Wonder if that includes in-app purchases....
But I sense the return of the Windows phone soon.... If this goes well....6
I'm a windows newby, any suggestion for cloning an ext4 disk partition?
At the moment I use cygwin and dd.9
Been like this for the past 30 minutes. Windows 10, you cause more problems than you solve. Thanks for every thing you do for me 😊3
When you see a rant thanking for stickers with Windows as the OS :,( Windows Windows Windows .... What OS do you dev in? Me: OSX, CentOS8
Ran into this working on my windows server. I clicked the help button on something and saw this in the comments.
Hey guys, I just made a small contribution to the world of free code. It's a an install script for installing Apache Spark on windows with all its dependencies and quirks. Installing it on Windows is not so straightforward as some of you might know. This script should make everything good to go.
Does anyone have dual boot Linux/ Windows and also have problems with the slow-ass periodic updates Windows shoves down your throat, needs to do multiple restarts for, but gets stuck at the grub bootloader?
It's really annoying the next time you need your PC quickly you're forced to standby for 2 hours.10
How much will you ask for a windows form app that is for students and is completely functional for a restaurant if i only expend like 10 hours in the developing?11
Ever tried to use Windows 10's search as a calculator? For me it just returns numerically named folders in System32 most of the time... 😕9
The moment has finaly arrived, setting up dual boot for my school laptop. Gues what every windows boot it overrides uefi therefore i cant access my elementary install. Fuck you windows you are now completely gone1
Windows is the worst garbage ever...
First I get a virus becouse the antivirus didn't fucking work, then I try and do a system reset WICH FAILS, them u have to get into the uefi and do a system reset back to Windows 8, Windows 8..
So I go to the windows insider program and download the media creator thing and
IT DOESN'T WORK
It just stops at "searching for updates"and now I'm stuck with Windows 8
I can't even get the Nvidia drivers so i can't play games anymore
A big fuck you to Microsoft and merry Christmas
Btw any fixes? Thank you
Just fladhed windows 10 on a usb stick (4.7GB) and forgot the options for progress...
My suffering increased exponentially
Does anyone here know how to set up windows 10 bootloader files?
So I wiped my laptop clean, installed windows, installed manjaro, and deleted window's ESP for shits and giggles. Then I tried using bcdboot to restore bootloader files in the ESP I put GRUB in, which got windows 10 on the GRUB but selecting it loops me back to it. Whatdoido.10
I just found out Microsoft scrapped Desktop Experience in the new Windows Server... Welp I guess there goes my plan for a shared Windows dev setup 🙄9
I'm fairly new to linux and wanted to ask what's the best linux distro(?) to have for web development that can dual boot with Windows (can't really remove windows since there's some applications I need there RIP...)12
Two security researchers have published details about a vulnerability in the Windows Printing Service which impacts all Windows versions.
According to a Report of ZDNet : The vulnerability codenamed 'PrintDemon' which is located in Windows Print Spooler (Windows component responsible for managing print operations). The service sends data to be printed to a USB port for physically connected printers. In a report published, security researchers Alex Ionescu & Yarden Shafir said they found a bug in this old component that can be abused to hijack the Printer Spooler internal mechanism. The bug can not be used to break into a Windows client remotely over the internet, so it's not something that could be exploited to hack Windows systems over the internet.5
What a holy shit the fucking Windows File History and all the rubbish from the Microsoft installer files!! Is it so difficult to remove automatically the unnecessary packages!!! My SSD partition for Windows is completely full of rubbish!!4
!rant I saw a report from Slashdot concerning mspaint that it is not going awaycompletely. It will be in the windows for free to download.
Microsoft ends support for Windows 7
Support for Windows 7 ended this week which means that security or software updates will no longer be provided by Microsoft.
Windows 7 will continue to run however it will be more vulnerable to viruses and malware. The best way to remain secure is to use the latest operating system available.
Microsoft have a dedicated webpage for user questions, next steps and detailed advice. 👇

Since yesterday I'm cursing my ISP for shitty internet speed and called him few times for the same.
As it turns out windows was updating in the background sucking my whole bandwidth!
It took me a day to download a 1 Gb file1
Currently the only good tooling for c# is on windows. Things are looking optimistic with .net core, but it's no where close to what's available on windows.2
"Windows 11 will also allow users to install and run Android apps onto their device using the new Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) and the Android Open Source Project (AOSP)"
If they add support for iphone/mac crap i'm sold6
updated docker for windows a few days back.. I have to reinstall on every reboot in order for it to work...
its either Hyper V being a dick or the docker guys screwed something with the update... fml1
Found the Intelligence windows uses for update
if user.working() == True:
windows should be renamed to winblows2
Was so worried with all the whining about the windows fall update thinking my pc sucks so it will break for sure. But seems I have had it for a week now and not noticed.1
Developers on the same team who use Windows. Web dev even with Vagrant becomes a pain in the ass for everyone else who need to be interoperable with the Windows ways.
A project on hive....
Well the server has some error....
So i need to install hive on windows....
For that i need hadoop on windows...
For that i need either vmware or cygwin...
What was my project again??
After the release of Visual Studio for Mac, the last thing to make a deadlock between Microsoft and Apple is Xcode for Windows.
Writing a x-platform cli tool in Go designed to be an infinite REPL until EOF if no arguments are passed. Code works great on Linux and Mac as-is but not on Windows. On Windows it only works at all if args are passed.
And people wonder why I don't like Windows. It's a shame my userbase has so many tech-saavy Windows users. If not for them I'd cut that git branch off the repo in a heartbeat.
Just moved my project for the first time from a windows server to Linux. Learned the importance of case-consistency the hard way...
So my Windows installation is getting the creators update. Let's see if it even installs. Stuck on here for about half hour.4
Sitting at my table in the office.
Not doing nothing for about 20 minutes.
Thanks (fuck you) windows update.
an engineer that nearly has a home (finally).
I need to uninstall WSL from windows 10. And the Microsoft docs suggests that uninstall with 'lxrun' command then also in one of their reference pages it says that lxrun is deprecated for windows 10. tf4
Shitty Windows failing to connect to wireless for a full hour on top of booting for 20+ minutes .
Linux is the way to go without a second thought.4
I just got a nice 240GB SSD and I'm puzzled by a thing: should I dual boot it with Windows 7 and Linux Arch?
I'm only keeping the windows for the games that "obsesses" me (was thinking of having a small 60GB partition for Windows, since I can barely play any games on my Sony Vaio) and I'm spending the rest of my time programming. But also I would have time for more things if I give up gaming on Windows (like reading, jogging)... I do not know what you do... My heart says Arch only but my mind says Windows also... what would you do?
I am using a Raspberry Pi with CUPS and a USB to LPT adapter to enable one of my customers to still print on an old HP DesignJet.
HP dropped support for this printer with Windows 7. Of course the generic HP PS driver with Windows 10 works - but only via CUPS not directly from Windows. Windows claims that the printer is not compatible.
What's wrong with this world?1
trying to figure out why this folder is allowing restricted files formats to run, and finding nothing but 'It's a windows folder' what the hell internet DX my school runs windows and it's in that directory children aren't allowed to mess with, of course it's a damn windows folder, but how can I stop them from running viruses accidentally in that folder without causing windows to stop working
Back to god damn research
Thank you for your time
For what reason has windows update settings in its group policies if it completely ignores them? 😠😡
I disabled everything that regards windows update, because I had to copy 80gb (my vm with all the dev tools installed) from PC A to PC B.
Well , guess what I saw this morning..
I am really annoyed by this, but I need windows for my steam games - I guess steam rescues Windows once more this time..1
Windows apparently does reboots for updates n stuff outside your normal time of usage nowadays.
Windows apparently also thinks that your normal usage shouldn't be over 12 hours.
So now i have to decide if I'm more in the mood for random updates in the morning when i need to get shit done (ugh) or at night when i have finally time to relax.
Do you know where to get Windows App Signing Keys for a reasonable price?
The cheapest ones I've found were still ~€150 per year, too much for a proof-of-concept :( Not signing the app is not an option...12
Just found the imo perfect git gui for Windows: Fork
Ofc some Features are missing but I hope they going to implement them3
GLFW is the cleanest, well documented, most convinient API for creating and handling windows in Linux and Windows I've ever used.
The only thing that bugs me is that valgrind detects memory leaks on it.4
Debugging a WCF app and could for the love of it not get its main window up. Then I realized it was freaking Photoshop that placed itself on top of it. PS is great for editing images, but has useless management of windows and memory, at least on Windows, originally developed for Mac as it is.
Is it my crappy connection or the git bash for windows is just shite? It's taking forever to clone onto a repo using ssh.8
Just applied in windows Never in Linux.
Before call to technical support, apply the first rule in windows.
#1 .- For all evil restart. For all GOOD, too RESTART.1
I cannot get started with dot net core ! Tutorials are a walk in the park for windows and windows vs but for mac, everything’s grey and udemy/Lynda tutorials are all outdated.3
Friend : Dude I think I've found the bug we've been trying to diagnose all yesterday
Me : you've got my attention . *excited*
Dual boot screen shows up.
Hmm my external WiFi adapter doesn't work on arch , time for windows
Are you sure you want to update now ?
Nvm. Updating now.
Shutting down . windows is performing some updates .
Me : fuck my life1
Stupid Windows and their super generic error codes for why the 1607 release cannot download.
I just want bash on my windows machine!1
For those who keep complaining about winblows and microshit, just know that windows is highly customizable (registry).
Look here for some tips: https://howtogeek.com/howto/37920/...
It's for win 7 but many should still work for win 105
Hello folks, have a question, I can't decide if I should install windows 7 (super stable Windows btw) or a Linux distribution (debian or Ubuntu 14), I've always been a Windows guy and was thinking of switching to Linux on my new free dos laptop and wanted to have a hand on Linux, but please I don't want that Windows/Linux fight I just need real advice. Some friends told me to get Windows 7 and a VM Linux just for practice, I also thought about having a dual boot Windows Linux server , I think it would be the best config for me.. so..?3
I ordered a Dual HDTV Tuner USB for my Windows PC, arriving tomorrow but what would be the best program for scheduling and recording shows?1
Just what did the guys at Microsoft think when they programmed the searchbar in Windows 10?
When i want to start XAMPP, the 'best match' is "Uninstall XAMPP"...
The most confusing part is that up until that last P (i.e. I'm searching for XAMP) Windows thinks I want the Control Panel, so it just switches to Uninstall in the last second.
Fuck that shit...3
Currently doing Drupal in WSL with Docker on the side in windows 10. I'm a sucker for punishment on so many levels
That's what you get for using windows, NS. I wish that I could say it's the first error I see in your screens.5
How does one convert an .img system image for Android to the format readable by Heimdall on Linux... Only thing I found so far requires Windows... Why make Heimdall if you need Windows anyway to make the image... Just use Odin on Windows then... Any ideas? Don't have Windows... And all I need is to read a bloody logfile (btsnoop_hci.log). Thanks, "secure" Android Oreo!!!4
Anyone ever think of an ide that looked like the windows forms editor for vs, but for html elements showing their events and css elements ?
like an asp.net editor that actually works for html ?7
I love the fact that Windows Malware Protection is wasting up all my CPU and I cannot open the freaking task manager or terminal.1
