Android app update available! I wonder what they've changed? 🤔
Changelog: "We improved the app and made it better."
Well thanks. 🖕20 -
Girl: Can you make me an app?
Me: What kind of app do you have in mind?
Girl: I want it to be... like an app!
Me: Sounds a bit to difficult sorry.10 -
Few months ago I made an app for my buddy. Because it was simple soundboard app (it literally took me 15 minutes) I haven’t took any money. He said it’s for personal use only...
So he released it under his name on Google Play Store... And now he asks me to add advertisements... For free... When I asked him what can I get from it, he said “you can add your name to Credits”
That’s how you loose trust and buddies!22 -
Who else thinks having their devrant avatar in this loading screen (in the app) will give it a more personal touch? ;)22

"5 stars - OMG this app is awesome!!!"
- Add new feature with In-app purchase:
"1 star - App sucks balls. Why we must pay? Make free and I rate 5 stars"

Techy name? Check.
Word which ends with "er" but scrap the E? Check.
A .io domain? Check.
This is a hipster app.8 -
I just hate it when an update for an app is available and there's no changelog. Seriously, tell us what this update is about!5

Dear phone app devs,
when I start app, I want to *use* it, NOT fill in recommendations on store. Please move this question AFTER useful work in app.

Best App Review ever:
"Awesome app but please remove the ads, then i will give you 5 Stars"
So basicly you are saying the developers should not make any money of the app they spend multiple hours making? Well lets remove the ads then i guess 😤😤12 -
Why everyone has an idea for an app like UBER? I have received a lot of these requirements this year, and then...4

-- How I succeeded turning a PHP/MYSQL app into Android app within a week --
Alright. So I wanted to grab your attention to what I'm about to write. If you are here just to read about the technologies I used, jump to bottom.
This is also a kind of rant; rant against the other fellow devs who demotivated me originally when I asked a question.
I'll not go in the details of my original question. Here's the link for those who are interested:
https://www.devrant.io/rants/366496
It's been days since I achieved what I wanted to but I thought someone might learn from my experience. So here it goes.
Why FREE?
Well, it was an important client. I worked on his website and he asked for an app for the same website and told me he won't be able to pay me anything for the app. I was, somewhat, under the impression that he might be testing me. If not, then I would end up learning something new. It wasn't a bad deal for me so I didn't hesitate to took it.
Within a week, I was able to pull the job and finish it. I felt so much better (and proud of myself) when I finished the app within the week and client approved it. What did I get? I got a GOOD BANK CLIENT in my pocket now. Got a lot more worth of projects from the same client. If I were being paid for the app, I might not have pulled the job so much better.
So the moral of this story is never to give up. NOT EVERY DEVELOPER SELLS SHORT ONLY FOR "MONEY". Some enjoy learning new things. And some like me love to accept new challenges and are not afraid to try something new everyday.
In case, someone is interested in knowing the technologies I used, here they go;
PhoneGap
Framework7
Template7
Apache Cordova
I wrote an API for the interaction between the web services and the app.
Also, Ionic Framework seems promising but it had a learning curve and time was of the essence. But I'm gonna learn it anyhow.14 -
Just got pitched another one of those “billion dollar” app ideas at work....
An app that stores app ideas
You don’t need an app for that, you can write your app ideas on a napkin and store them in the trash where they belong.2 -
When you don't have new feature to add to the app but need to keep updates.
"General bug fixes and performance improvements."3 -
Designing an app sure takes some time, but at the end it feels amazing when everything is in place.
Finished this bad boy today9 -
This days whenever I have a groundbreaking idea, my firs step is...
Google that exact title, because every possible app ideas are already done ✅1 -
Why are modern apps so god damn huge? A fucking messaging app doesn't require 500000000000000 MB!!! I wonder what shit load of fuck they're packing in those apps.13
-
When you have a killer app idea for years and you a lazy @sshole for working on it, but always dreaming with it.
"If I make the app I will be a millionaire"1 -

Meet 'SBI Online' app from Play Store, in their own words:
What they were supposed to do?
"Experience the new Retail Internet Banking of SBI"
What they do?
"SBI online app will redirect to SBI Retail Internet Banking (online SBI) site"
Why do they have app?
"No need to remember URL",
"Less memory space required on device"
App storage space?
F**king 2.6 MB, just to redirect users to their website, in third-party browser.2 -
Who else agrees that the play store should have a section which tells if an app needs a mandatory login to use it ? Like why the hell does a simple offline planner todo app need you to sign-up if you don't wanna use cloud backup. Jeez the user just trusted you by spending valuable time and bandwidth downloading your app. You owe it to him to show him some features of the app before shoving a sign up in his face. As an app developer myself I really think that this kind of behaviour turns off more users than anything else.2
-
I'm sorry, but the Apple App Store review team sometimes doesn't have the slightest clue what they're doing. Some things they usually reject me for, I can literally name 100 apps that violate that same thing, that are ON the App Store.
But the one that always gets me the most, is they will reject your app for not having extremely strict blocking/reporting features in your app (if it involves user-generated content). Okay, I get this, so I implement it. But they reject my app without even looking for them.
It's a CHAT app, so I put the block button INSIDE the chat conversation (right? normal UX? am I crazy?), and they reject it because they couldn't find the block button on the first screen (a screen that didn't even have chats, they screenshotted the SIGN UP screen LOL).
What a joke. Normally I wouldn't care but this update that I'm trying to get approved is essential and fixes some important crashes that have been happening to 13% of active users.3 -
You wake up in the middle of the night with an awesome idea for a new app.
You spend weeks thinking about it, open a private repo, start to design the UI and logo, and in all your excitement explain your idea to the family and best friends, but no one really finds it cool.
Slowly you start to lose the excitement, day after day you consider it more and more stupid, until you start to hate both the idea and yourself because you really liked it.
6 months later, when you totally forgot about it, you find an app on the App Store very similar to it (but with less features)... as App of the Day, sold for €6.99, 4.8 rating, thousands of positive comments and loved by everyone.
The moral of this story?
If you really like your idea, just make it happen without looking at anyone.4 -
DATA COMMUNICATION BETWEEN SERVER AND AN APP..
1. Write all data into files,
2. Make the files as zip,
3. Send the zip to server,
4. Server will unzip the zip file,
5. Read all the data line by line from the files and update the data.
** TRUST ME, THIS IS A PRODUCTION APP I HAVE SEEN FROM A CLIENT **7 -
That frustrating moment when you have an excellent app idea but a similar app already exists with over 50,000 downloads 😭😭😭4

I cannot submit my app and I have a very critical app.
this is shit, here we don't celebrate Christmas, so maybe apple needs to fuckin consider that !!17 -
They say: If you build this app, I'll give you 10% equity.

I thought to myself, "i nee some company in my life"
1.Registers on a app to meet some people
2. Fills in profile

Notification from app: "we see you are in the engineering field, want to have a look at the opportunities we have at our company?"

Dad just came to me: "I have a great idea for an app you could build"
I thought "Wow.. That's cliché"5 -
Our team really needs some workflow arrangement, and this time it was me who screwed up.
So we have to push an update to the Play Store and the App Store the Friday, the app is well tested on test environment then production environment, we got the ok so I uploaded a build, the app management team then continued the process of publishing..
During the weekend the app was approved and live to almost 500k user that can receive the update.
I got a phone call from the Project Manager at almost midnight, the time was really suspicious so I answered.
- Me: Hello.
- PM: Hi, sorry to call you now but the app is live and we have a problem.
- Me: what kind of problem? Let me check.
So I updated the app on my phone and opened it while I am on call.. I almost had heart attack!! WE PUBLISHED A VERSION POINTING TO THE TEST ENVIRONMENT. Holly shit
- Me: shit call the app management team NOW.
Eventually we removed the app from sale (unpublished it) and we submitted a new version immediately, once it was approved the next day we made the app available again (so for those who didn’t update yet, there will be no update to a faulted version, and no new users landing to a version with test data), I received one or two calls from friends telling me why the app is not on the store (our app is used nationally, so it’s really important).
Thank God there was no big show on twitter or other social media.. but it’s really a good lesson to learn.
I understand this is totally my fault, thankfully I didn’t get fired 😅4 -
What you see:
"we gonna build a new application to replace our legacy one"
How to read:
"we gonna make you put more shit in the legacy app whenever we want and still keep asking about the new app you don't have the time to make"2 -
This app is awesome! Finally a place where I can vent my coding frustrations and people will actually have an idea of what I'm talking about!7

!(!(!(!rant)))
When you're using a sophisticated software and you've shown your work to your non-dev friends and they say "Wow! What APP did u use?"
Furk it! App sounds like a small icon on your mobile phone to take a selfie putting a dog filter to post for everyone to see! You call this tool just an "APP"? May Zeus forgive this blasphemy.

For those of you iOS Swift developers, how long did it take to learn and have a decent app with database functionality, coming from a different programming language background?8
-
Some thoughts about time relations in app dev:
10% - minimal ui & coding main functions
10% - testing
10% - writing web api just for fun
70% - try to "design" an ui
Am I the only one having problems with ui?? 🤔3 -
Pro tip. How to cut down on those pesky support emails? Break the only email link in your app I can find.
Genius.3 -
So I just found out that another company is launching the same app/website idea as mine...*sigh*
This is not how I was planning on starting my week.
I suppose I need wait and see what they have and improve my app to be better.
Hello devRant, it's good to be back. I hope everyone has a good week.6 -
I have been working on a hybrid app since 7 months
Today my manager told me, I didn't do anything except adding random plugins here and there :|

Dear my school app developer,

For years I've been thinking to myself I should make an app. Well, I finally stopped procrastinating and just did it.
Hopefully it will come in useful for all fellow devs when you come to choosing a project name for your next project.

After developing Android apps for 4 years, I just released my first app for iOS 🎉
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/...12 -
How is it a thing that developing a desktop app nowadays requires an enormous amount of RAM? I stared working on an electron project and the whole thing takes up 3-4 GB of RAM when running, and that does not factor in my IDE or anything else.
But the packaged app does not go over 400mb, although we have had memory leaks in the past10 -
Why do most apps have a password reset page that redirects to a mobile site ?
Why not give them a code they can enter into the app which would then show a password reset page within the app or a link which opens the page within the app.
Isn't it good practice to keep the user within the app?
Isn't it better to serve a token than serve an entire html webpage for the server.
I've been thinking about this but 90% people follow the website pattern and Idk why. Am I missing something ?
Please fill me in on it. (Even devrant uses the same pattern)5 -
When you have a great idea for an app, then find out that someone already done it and with the same name.
My idea is way better than the existing one though... I just need to think of another name.1 -
Come on devRant! I’m getting really annoyed when clicking on rant that has [read more] at the end since it is a gamble to kill this iOS app you have made. Every ~5th click I get app terminated. Then after I reenter the app, I lost where I was. Thats why I ++ all the rants I have read, even those who don’t deserve it :), so I can scroll quickly and see which are not ++’ed.3
-
Why does everyone screenshot a Tweet, instead of using a perfectly good app 'Tweet2Pic' being available on Play Store.
P.S: I am the dev, shamelessly promoting my app. I am not sure if I can share links here 😅3 -
Heiloo people!
I had this app on my device for a while now.. it's only now I explored what this is all about! It's AMA-IZ-ING :D4 -
When I was in my highschool I started learning android. My first need was a timetable app, so I made a very simple timetable app. I shared it with my friends and when I noticed people are liking it.... I rebuilt it from scratch and published it on playstore. Now I'm in college and when I see people using it, I feel really proud.
here's the link to mah app:

Just ranting cause the devRant iOS app keeps crashing randomly when I open rants at times, after crash same rant opens fine.
A lot of “rant” on that sentence.28 -
I hate developing for iOS. So many certificates here and there for simple things. And to top it all off, sometimes, you get people reviewing your app that say you can't upload to the App Store for stupid reasons. Does anyone feel the same way?10
-
When a client gives the app mockups that are clearly designed by a toddler with crayons. And you have to follow it strictly.1

Colleagues at my part-time job:
"You study programming right? Amazing we've got this great app idea, we'd love to see a finished product in 2 months"
Me: "..."3 -
My best dev experience this year was the success of my company intern app at work, where I am employeed since last December beside my studies.
The company founder, the CEO, the head of department and the marketing department all like my app and in January it will be deployed to all company phones 😀
Whish me luck that there won't be any serious bugs 😅 -
I'm not here to underestimate the design of a government app on Android.
I hope the developer considered the UI itself as user-friendly and not the default button from android studio. he just simply copies the contents(text & images) from the government web page and paste it to its application.
He/she got paid well to make that app. well, although the information is correct for the users.
It's not much that users are even enthusiastic of the design. they simply read the guidelines inside the app and no more fancy animation.1 -
The agenda app I downloaded has a bug now.. can't select the day of the month from the calendar... Have to go swiping from page to page until I get where I want :/2
-
There are few things that annoy me more than an app with unneeded transition animations between menus. An example of this would be the Xbox app on Android. Whenever you navigate to a new menu, it always has a stupid slow fade-in animation. Why do we need an animation every time we switch between menus?! It adds that much more time before we can actually use that section of the app, just because we need to wait for this stupid unneeded animation to run. It's like whoever wrote the app was browsing a generic animation library and discovered the fade-in animation, and thought to themselves "Woah this is so cool, it'll make the app go whooooooosh every time they change menus, they're gonna be so impressed!!"3
-
Backstory:
The webpage for (basically) the only movie theater chain is slow. The app, goddamn, is worse.
So I made an app to scrape the data and save it in a SQLite db for my use. However, there is one theater which doesn't belong to the same company. So I decided to also include it in the app.
But it sucks! I still have to find a way to automatically get the data from their shitty site.6 -
My bank created a "new and improved" banking app asking me to take a selfie after first sending them a picture of my id.
I am already a customer of the bank, they have a copy of my id, why do they also want a selfie?
Also with the old banking app I could just call them from my phone number (which they also have) and they confirmed it was me over the phone by asking 2 questions and then provided me with a code to just enable the app on my personal phone.10 -
After waiting a very long two days, my app was finally accepted🙏
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/...7 -
Dear app, if you say that your update is for bug fixes, you better fix all those bugs instead of releasing and releasing an update with the same bugs still there. Better look into the UI/UX issues too. Your app looks horrible! Last time I was involved in it, everything is looking so fine I haven't had a bad review for a long time. Hope you can read this. #ktnxbye1

Hi all!
Its been a month now since I launched my first app on Play Store.
It has now got 2000 downloads with about 600 active installs. I also got some downloads on the paid version of the app (which is basically a donate version of the app).
I know there is always a room for improvement, but still, how am I doing?
And Merry Christmas to you all!5 -
So I just got asked for a quote for developing an app for a client's friend. He wanted an app that requires me to build let's just say a combination of what you see on uber with the live tracking of your uber driver, seeing all cars around your location and determining the closest one (It wasn't necessarily cars) plus profiles and another app for another set of users (I can easily make this one and determine the logged in user and in turn tailor the features for that user but they wanted two). An admin portal also was included and I had to do various integrations with Google maps. In app purchases was also necessary. Logs as the app has to keep track of all activities basically. A wallet feature was also to be implemented, scheduling, rating and complains section was also something requested and finally a mini accounting system was also to be developed. I was going to do this singlehandly as a freelancer. Obviously this is a lot of work. I also gave them a timeline of about 3 months for development. Which meant I was going to be putting all my time into developing this. Front end and backend for the app and front-end and backend for the server and database architecture. I charged them $10,000 not only for the work but also because they were going to be making money off of the app. They go "wow and why does it cost so much"...Judging from their reactions I don't think they will move further with this with me because of costs...😂 I can't even begin to wonder why they think that isn't a fair price. I have learnt from previous work before that you always state a cost for which you are absolutely sure you would want to work for else you would start doing the work and once you see how little you are being paid for so much work you end up hating the work and completing it ends up being a difficult task.10
-
Apps are getting saturated now, i dont think if app development has a future anymore.
No matter what you make its quiet difficult to beat the top 10 trending apps.12 -
Grab app notifications system sucks to the max. Actually the whole Grab app sucks when it compared to Uber.
But fucking Uber is expensive and high and all mighty. They are like hey our app is the best, so use if you want or fuck off.
Grab. They are not expensive and they do shit tons of promotions and gives much more coupons. But all the news are sent to that buggy NOTIFICATIONS page and that fucking page is buggy as shit.
I wonder that they are doing it intentionally. Hey give lots of promotions. Just make it hard as fuck for people to access and use it. -
Had to create an App in unstable Phonegap (2012) for all 4 platforms,
for our biggest Dubai based client for a Tech Event, within A WEEK :/
Forget Phonegap, I didn't even know JavaScript back then :|
That was the shittiest App I have ever created, still somehow got an appreciation mail :|2 -
If I made an app where you keep password hints so you can remember the password yourself, is it fair to say the encryption is your memory?1
-
Is it just my phone or does the devRant app like to crash when you spend more than a few minutes in another app? Also I don't get notifications anymore
If anyone has any reasoning behind why these happen (since sometime in August I believe), I'd really appreciate it.1 -
Me: I need some time to understand this app(taking over it from another developer without explanation)
Boss: I need to bill the client, please finish all the pending features.

Longest goddamn development time ever on this one app I’m working on. Totally got demotivated for many months. Only now just starting to finish it.

App development in 2019:
1. Open app A
2. Open completely unrelated app B.
3. Scrolling in App B changes the sound in App A. Not raising or lowering volume, mind, but full on dropping samples and warbling the sound.
It's almost impressive how fucked up that is.3 -
Why does this happen....
I go , hey I just finished this project (app for example since they the worst culprit)
Why ... Are the next words out of the other persons mouth is, oh I had an idea for an app ....
Why do they then proceed to tell you an app that exists , or an app that's ridiculous like
You know calenders ... Yeah I do... What about a calendar that syncs to your friends one when you want to do an event .... You mean Facebook events... Yeah but for calenders 🤔😥😒
Why does the general population think one.... It's easy to build and costs nothing and two that without research they have the best idea on earth. -
In places devRant Android App needs to clear activity stack... We see extra screens when we hit back, for example, when we modifiy a rant or a comment, we see the older one as well which is redundant.2

Can someone explain me why the size of the Facebook app is more than 350 MB on iOS?
And I'm not counting cache e local data (which are more than 50 MB), but only the app.
Any technical explanations?9 -
So for my school's annual interschool symposium, I hacked together an app to scan QR codes and keep track of who's taken their refreshments (It was pizza.) If it's been scanned once, it'll show an error. Easy enough, right? Wrong.
So the team at the counter took a screenshot when my app showed "Approved" and whenever they wanted a pizza, they showed the guys their screenshot. Result? Over 70 pizzas weren't counted. And I bore the wrath of my teacher *sigh*.
What the hell could I have done?2 -
I don't know if our QA is good enough. We were developing an app for both ios and android. I, an ios developer, told the QA guy that it will take long before uploading the app in the testflight (convert swift2 to swift3). After a week the app is now uploaded in the test flight and at the same time my partner, an android developer, uploaded the android version of the app in the play store beta. The QA guy started to raise bug issues about the android version. He wanted to fix the bugs immediately since our boss needed to upload it in the play store and appstore. The QA guy kept on complaining to my partner why the android version is buggy. Then he said something we, me and my partner, facepalm.
The QA guy said " You shouldn't convert the app to swift 3. The ios version is fine when converted why the android version is buggy. You need to revert it back to swift 2"
We sit there in silence, thinking if we pity the QA guy or laugh at him. -
Need some advice, which charging model is most beneficial nowadays? (for a mobile game):
1. Pay for full app
2. Free download and in-app purchase(s)
3. Free download and ads (pay to remove?)

My app is finally on the Apple App Store.
The rant: how bloody difficult was it to get on there?! They scrutinise EVERYTHING. My promo copy, my screengrabs and also it seems that there is code that works on iPhone that doesn’t work on iPad.
I thought it was designed to be the same for ease of development? However I found a function that works perfectly well on iPhone but breaks iPad.
Anyway I guess in the long run this keeps the App Store’s quality level high and it isn’t the Wild West like the google play store. However it’s still pretty annoying. I can see why devs get angry about Apple’s process.2 -
So subreddits are now app only ? Oh fuck off . Seriously ? Is this the future we are heading towards ? Why use React then if you are not gonna let me use it in the browser.8

My latest "joke-app" has been published yesterday.
I highly doubt that anyone will buy it, but still, I hope someone will!
The whole point, of course, is that you can show off how rich you are by buying this stuff. nothing else.
If anyone is about to tell "rich people will have iPhones" the answer is "the app is only on playstore because I'm not rich at all and don't want to pay Apple, plus if you're really rich, just buy a phone and then buy the app"

Anyone who's ever launched an app, how did you do it? Did you just release it on the app store and that was that, or did you go though and trial it with people and try to get investors and all that jazz? People who have done either how did it go? 😀3

Any native app devs know if this is possible, before I go away and start messing about with shit.
I want to build a companion native app to my web app for the sole purpose of receiving in app push notifications.
So you set all the shit up on the web app and then the native app is just to get push messages. I currently send sms messages with the Twilio API but would rather the app solution.1 -

Hello everyone. I need your help and suggestions. I submitted an app to the Apple app store and got this response.

Your app or metadata includes an account registration feature, which is considered an access to external mechanisms for purchases or subscriptions to be used in the app.
To resolve this issue, please remove the account registration feature and any other fully qualified links to your site that could indirectly provide access to these mechanisms, such as links to web pages for support, FAQs, product or program details, etc.

My app only has a signup form that signs the user up on Firebase. What are my options? Is a simple signup form not allowed in iOS apps? This just does not make any sense to me. Please let me know what you would do.5 -
Some advice would be greatly appreciated: I have an app on the play store that currently is free with ads, and an in app purchase to remove the ads. Is there a better way of trying to get people donating or should I go overboard with the ads (something I am very hesistant to do)

Does anyone know a good todo app? I' searching someting _simple_, so no kanban board whatsoever.
I only want a way to do simple lists.
I'm looking for a mobile app, if it has cloud synchronization or even a desktop app, that's an absolute bonus. Also, while we're on that topic, self hosted would be reeeeaaaally cool (but again no must)6 -

We are in the process of launching a service like this to our existing customers. Small stores who can't afford to have their own app developed for them.
This really throws a wrench into our product. If the decision is not reversed, we will likely have to abandoned half a year of work.1 -
Hey!! I have made an app for curbing smartphone addiction, In this app, I am just asking user to set timer for an app, and then my app will remind them to stop using those apps! I am also showing weekly/daily usage statistics. So, what should I name my app?2

“The point of making a native app is to make it faster and more reliable than the web version”
Well, I guess Facebook Messenger for Windows misses that point entirely.2 -

It's not a big deal but I feel proud, a teen in my neighborhood was asking me to teach him some Android dev, I was like why not.
He published his first app (free and paid versions)
It's a simple app about broadcasting audio (from MIC or calls) to a radio server like shoutcast.
I have to put it here for support the guy :)

How to market an app?
So I am working on this very simple app. It has more or less one feature and also a quite limited target group. I make the app mostly for myself because I need this one function that it has but it would be nice to get a few bucks out of it (after I get the bugs out of it). I can't tell you what the app does (I realize I sound one of those "like facebook but..." people) but imagine those really simple apps like the many water level apps you can find in the app store but only musicians will ever need it.
So here is the question: should I limit functions and show adds and sell a pro version or only offer one version and always show adds? It will be a handy tool for those who really use it so maybe someone would consider buying it. On the other hand, the features are way too cheap to spend money on (who would buy a flashlight app?).
Thanks for your help!1 -

Why oh why do devRant have this crappy webApp. Ranting about bad Software and code on a such a bad app is like complaining about speed on a rail trolley.6

FACEBOOK COMMON!
I get that they released the app because they had a deal with windows 10, but after so much time can't you at least improve it a tiny bit? Even with a webapp from messenger it works faster.

I was wondering how I can go about with the development of an Android app.
I've made a few small apps, but I want to make something a little more complex.
I've made the use case diagrams, high-fidelity prototypes and the database schema is almost ready.
I'm just stuck with how to model the app. Which architecture to use? How to actually implement a complex project?9 -
Hi guys, I've recently published an android app called Location Mocker. It can mock you current location in real time.

Hi, everybody.
I have been working on an IOS app for a while and I´m about to finish it, and I would like to share it with developers and users from around the world.
Any idea of how to reach as many persons as possible? How and where to share the app?
Thank You for your responses!1 -
Don't even know how to start. I currently work as technician (fix broken shit devices like apple and manage our servers).
Before the rant, here's a note: I'm a newbie-ish something.. Like I do some Java and Android stuff but nothing amazing (yet).
Here's my rant:
Boss: Hey, you mentioned in your CV that you do some programming.
Me: Yep, but just starting. Already made few apps but nothing crazy big.
Boss: Well, doesn't really matter. But, can you make an app and a website for us? We'll decide on the budget later.
Me: *kinda suspicious* Ehm, yep? I'll just make a wireframe and show you what I came up with.
*few weeks later*
Boss: So how's the app doing?
Me: I told ya that I'm making only wireframe. If you want the app you can:
a) pay for it
b) don't do anything and I'll make it open-source
Boss: No don't do that. We want the source on our FTP server.
Me: Riiight... That's a big no-no for me. It's gonna be on VCS, otherwise you can forget about the app and web.
Boss: *staring silently at me*
Me: ...
To this day, not a single response from him. We had one meeting where I presented the Website and app design, everyone was ok with it but no answer when I asked about the budget. Should I just scrap these projects and continue making them on github ('cuz I kinda like to learn new shit this way)5 -
Is there money to be made in android app development via ad revenue? I'm learning more Java for a different purpose related to a job and think it'd be a fun side project. Maybe utility apps, but probably games.9

That precise moment when you have finished your brand new app, you're compiling to upload it to the devcenter and you NOTICE you haven't changed the test ID in your Ad banner unit.
Can you feel me bro, right? -
Made an app for a client on both iOS and Android, published the the app on app store and google play at the same time week ago, google published the app within 2 hours, apple still though, WHY THE FUCK WE PAY THEM 99$ LER YEAR BRUH, THEY NEED A CERTIFICATE OF OWNER SHIP ON THE APP BRAND NAME SMH, CHANGE THIS AND THAT, FUCK THIS SHIT 2 WEEKS TO PUBLISH AN APP AND MY CLIENT IS YELLING WTF3

I am thinking about working on an app using which users will be able to create a survey or a set of multiple choice or sorting in a particular order questions amongst their friends or colleagues and at the end would get a response about which option received the most votes or which is the most preferred order.
The responses will be anonymous even to the creator of the questionnaire.
Is this idea good enough to work on? -
Quick question..
INFO:
Im attending Computer Science Study's im at the end of 1. Semester. We'r going to cover app development in 4th semester, but i cant wait that long, i want to use my spare time starting to build apps to get ahead of studys.
Im currently pretty decent in Java, so i want the app based on java language, and we've used scenebuilder for our desktop GUI's so far with FXML..
QUESTION : What do you use to develop java based ios/android apps - software, languages, etc.
Dont want to start a "this is better than that " war, just looking for a good entrypoint to java app development.
THANKS 👍5 -

How DevOps is beneficial for Mobile app development?
Can anyone explain to me with a budget-friendly Mobile app development company?1 -
No judgment regardling the "H" word here. But right now, which would you rate the best Hybrid app SDK?
Flutter, React Native, Xamarin? Other? and why?
I started using Flutter in 2020 and I'm loving the results. The learning curve is really high but the performance is nice. But coding via widgets...just feels a bit messy.8 -
