Me : it's my new android app, this app lets you store daily routines and is very fast.
Dad : where's the money?
Friends : so now you will get a job at Google 😱
Girlfriend : install this on my iPhone
Mom : You are genius. Now get the groceries I asked you for.1 -
- Free app:
"5 stars - OMG this app is awesome!!!"
- Add new feature with In-app purchase:
"1 star - App sucks balls. Why we must pay? Make free and I rate 5 stars"

So our company hired a new COO few months ago, and he oversees digital department as well
recently he called the digital department into his office to talk about a new campaign for a client, and client's mascot is a ladybug, so he goes like this
COO: So i was thinking, we need to make people more aware about the new branch opening
COO: I have a creative / innovative idea, we probably can get an award for this and I'm sure client will be really impressed with this. Why don't we put ladybugs on Google homepage, just walking around flapping their wings and stuff, i mean everyone visits Google right ?
Our Team: awkwardly looking at each other
Me: 😐😐😐😐
( I was confused what to think )
Then our designer calmly explained him why it wouldn't work while we were trying our best not to laugh
how the fuck someone like him manage to stay alive all these years and become a COO, i mean he doesn't have to know it all but damn this is common sense10 -
New phone rom doesn't allow bloatware app removal, even at root level.
Root file manager -> /system/app -> remove whole 'uninstallable app's' whole fucking folder -> reboot -> device still works well.
Problem solved.26 -

One thing I love about this app is the sorting algorithm. While giving good popular posts exposure, it also shows new unpopular posts in the mix, which you don't see a lot these days.5

--- New API allows developers to update Android Apps while using them ---
Today, at the Android Dev Summit, Google announced a new API which allows developers to update an app while using it.
Until now, you were forced to close the app and were locked out of it until the update has finished.
This new API adds two different options:
1.) A Full-Screen experience which locks the user out of the app which should be used for critical updates when you expect the user to wait for the update to be applied immediately. This option is very similar to how the update flow worked until now.
2.) A flexible update so users can keep using the app while it's updating. Google also said that you can completely customize the update flow so it feels like part of your app!
For now, the API is only available for early-access partners, but it will be released for everyone soon!

Your fucking single page whatever the fuck app doesn't need React! Stop overcomplicating everything and getting distracted by shinny new frameworks, just focus on solving the problem!2

We just deployed a new version of our app on a friday afternoon and all developers are taking the next week off. Wish us luck! 😂6

An old friend, just asked if I can make thier company a custom Operating system. not an app an entire new OS... and if I have time to do it on the "side".10

*Refuses to rent it only because he believes his app could do better!

Tutanota (encrypted mail service) is releasing a new android app soon which won’t be using GCM anymore so that the app won’t be the reason a phone connects to anything google anymore and it’ll be on F-Droid soon!
Fuck yeah, Turanota, I fucking love you ❤️11 -
Since my one plus is gone and I can’t stand my fucking iPhone I finally bought a new phone.
Couldn’t find a new one with my required specs which was compatible with Lineage but at least found this rootable one so I can block any google app from reaching the outside.
The specs though 😍21 -
Complains why the app is not done yet ...
Because you fucking keep coming up with new features and ask us to implement them immediately !!!??2 -
Joining the duck family with SpiderDuck. Let's see how my new companion will guide me through the learning of android app development this year.3

When the purpose of your app starts with a "C" then just replace it with a "K" and tada: You have a cool new hipster name for it!
Example:
Collaborate -> Kollaborate
How cool is that?!!18 -
My new clothes washer has an app.
Neat!

During a meeting with the client
Client: I don't care how long it takes to complete the app, I want the app to be polished and give the users the best experience!
Us: Got it.
*Later that day*
Client: *wants to implement a new feature in the app*
Us: It'll take us a day or two.
Client: That long?! I need to get it to the market ASAP!
Us:.......
:D -
It hasn't even been two weeks since quitting the clowns and I've:
- recorded and edited a new React TypeScript course
- released a new SaaS product (in alpha)
- cleaned up and optimized the home page of an existing SaaS app
- started a mobile app version of said SaaS app
- started working with an agency to drive more traffic to same said SaaS app including guest posts and content creation.
I guess I always had it in me but needed to be broken by the rate race system one final time before venturing out on my own.
Refreshing.9 -
My app just surpassed 100 downloads, I’m programming 2 new apps without really running in bugs, holidays have started, and I’m going to Canada for half a year :) pretty good going9

New iPhone user: Where do I download WhatsApp on this phone?
Me: From the AppStore.
New iPhone user: I have to go a "store" to download apps?
Me: No, the AppStore is an app on your phone to download apps to your phone.
New iPhone user: Where is it?
Me: By default, it's on your main home screen.
New iPhone user: But I'm not at home.
Me: *face palm*1 -
Hello World! (LOL),
Anyways, jokes aside. I am new to this app and I like to meet the community here!8 -
Just got my Christmas present from Shopify:
You have 45 days to integrate with our new Billing API or lose your app on our app store.
Because I just LOVE dropping everything to deal with yet another mandatory Shopify change. Have you guys not heard of backwards compatibility?
My coworker just spent *weeks* getting our app approved, including submitting an obscene amount of information and multiple live reviews and now they're threatening to remove our listing from their app store if we don't adopt their new API by the end of January, requiring a complete re-submission and review to get it back on.
This is apparently a completely normal way to do business to Shopify.4 -
Our CEO/Boss thought up a new idea for an App
Boss: I got a new idea, i dont know what it is, but its very easy. How long you can do it?

My company is asking me to create a new gmail account everyday and write a positive review with 5 stars for their iOS app on App Store. Is that even legal? Should I say no? I’m a fucking engineer, not a click-farm worker.10

When your client insists on uploading everything to the App Store themselves because they don’t want to give you access to their developer account. So they go BUY a BRAND NEW MacBook Pro just for xcode because they can’t figure out provisioning files. Project has been ready for submission to the App Store for over a month...5

iOS 11. New technology. New innovation. New OS.

Meet 'SBI Online' app from Play Store, in their own words:
What they were supposed to do?
"Experience the new Retail Internet Banking of SBI"
What they do?
"SBI online app will redirect to SBI Retail Internet Banking (online SBI) site"
Why do they have app?
"No need to remember URL",
"Less memory space required on device"
App storage space?
F**king 2.6 MB, just to redirect users to their website, in third-party browser.2 -
Ah, new feature submission to app store day.

Him: "Trust me, its the next billion dollar app! It is a whole new social network for..."2 -
Client: Too many of our business processes take place on excel and paper! We need to modernize our business processes. Build an app that can do the main things we do with excel and paper in app form.
Dev (4 months later): Here it is
Client: Ok some of our users want to still use excel and paper so build the ability to print the app and export/import to excel so they can continue working the way they always have alongside our new app.
Dev: …6 -
Me - Wants to transfer chat history.
App: "Log in to the new device and scan this QR Code to start transfer."
Me - Logs in on new device.
App: "Oh, a new device logged in? Let's log you out from your old device. It's not like this feature you are trying to use specifically requires 2 devices to be logged on at the same time while I literally don't allow multiple devices to be logged on at the same time. You're welcome."3 -

Adventures Of The New COO
So when that new COO joined our company ( read my previous rant to know that story ) he brought a graphic designer with him
as a designer he's ok, more of a old school package designer type, but as a person one of the most annoying one I've ever met, always want to be included with our conversations, talk about rain and stuff
so few days ago, i was working on a website, headphones plugged in, music playing, he comes near my seat
Designer: Are you busy ?
Me: yeah, I've this website to finish
Designer: So i have this idea for an app
Me: *taking off headphones while thinking doesn't this dumbass know the meaning of busy*
Designer: what if we create an app for super markets, like this isle has this stuff, that isle has soap or something and how it'll be easy to find what you want to buy and keeps going on and on for about 5 minutes
Me: *making my voice as polite and sarcastic as possible*
It wouldn't work, every market has a different layout even among same market chain it's different
Me: have you ever been to a super market, they have a board saying what the isle is above the isle, all you have to do is just look up
Designer: hmm yeah i guess
*walks away*
everyone wants to make apps and make money, but doesn't have the fucking brain capacity to think about the idea for a bit and do some research, instead they come and waste our time2 -
I know I rant about how bad the app is I have to update on at work is but seriously first week into this job I found skeleton code from a taxi app, it wasn't in English and lately I found some code from some sort of funeral app wtf!
This just takes copying and pasting to a whole new fucking level!4 -
Can't believe this, my boss was pushing me to deploy the new mobile app version and now that its done he is traveling and didn't migrate the data that the app needs to works....2

Fairly new here. Saw the ad for this on instagram and thought it was the coolest idea ever. Thanks guys for making this app :) now I can rant about how awful my PM is.2
-
I wrote my app so nicely, I just finished adding a 2 new features without any major rewriting... even after not touching it for many months...2
-
Expectation: I'm going to spend today debugging my app
Reality: adds 10 new features, 30 got commits and some Easter eggs. No bugs fixed. -
What you see:
"we gonna build a new application to replace our legacy one"
How to read:
"we gonna make you put more shit in the legacy app whenever we want and still keep asking about the new app you don't have the time to make"2 -

I need a name for a new app.
It's a spur of the moment travel app that lets you select the temp and humidity ranges you want and finds you the cheapest flights.
Dazzle me please.40 -
TL;DR;
I was asked to give estimation on an app, that:
1. No one has a clue what it does, even though there is v1 on the store with almost 10% of functionality working
2. No one has a clue what should be in the new rewritten version
3. We are already behind schedule and I have no clue why, I've just been told that
4. They need UI flow that shows how the app will work with static data and when API's are ready (because ya know, writing code is easier than creating wireframes and modifying them accordingly) I will then need to link app with API as if it is as simple as drinking a cup of water, especially that: 1. What is water? 2. Do I have a cup or is it given, and 3. Relax bro, drinking water is like eating a burger, piece of cake!
I'm not sure what to do, not enough that it's React Native but also spaghetti requirements that no one was able to answer my simple question: What is the app responsible of?
P.S.: Some say I must rewrite the old app ONLY, no new features, others say: Turn the new web portal into mobile app, I say: WTF is going one?5 -
Finally finished my new app Deep Sleep Fan for iOS. Took 3x as long as I thought it would to develop even though it used a shared code base. Check it out at https://itunes.apple.com/app/...
Now I can go to bed.3 -
@dfox @trogus can the notifications area be split between +1'd comments and rants and new comments? Or the ability to remove selected comment thread notifications? Cheers. Great app btw5
-
A client of ours renewed their SSL certificates without prior notice.
The app we developed for them uses SSL pinning.
The app does not include the new certificates.
The entire userbase is hereby locked out of the app.
Fun times ahead 🙃1 -
1 - Spend 6 months building an app with Flutter
2 - Try to add in-app purchase. Must upload an apk to google console and register a product
3 - Must launch the app so the product is activated
4 - Console complains apk must contain 64 bits version
5 - Go to the issues tab on github and find a solution
6 - Implement the solution, recompile and send 2 apk files to Console
7 - Did not work...
8 - Find out maybe the console will allow just on closed alpha and beyond
9 - Put apks on closed alpha and fail because the Console wants a new apks with increased version codes...
10 - Recompile and send apks
11 - Console won't allow launching unless the format is using the new App Bundle
12 - Flutter does not support App Bundle with 32 and 64 bits...
13 - See issue about it saying the possible fix is in beta version, just need to update... What could go wrong?
I just wanted to release a damn app
I hate that shit5 -
Ok rant time. This app really needs to stack the notifications instead of popping a new one for every single thing and spam my notifications (Android)3

Just finished and published iOS and Android app. Now they want to change some colors in the app theme. Never mentioned it once during weekly meetings about the app. Even tho I asked them for input. Now I have to spend half my day recompiling and making new screenshots for the store.... #fucklogic1

Some feature suggestions:
- Customise order of tabs in new UI
- Highlighting of a rant's OP when browsing comments
- Update screenshots on Google Play & App Store2 -
It's a brand new year - and my first email comes in telling me the app is broken because they didn't receive any push notification (....no push notification was sent from them), the web cams don't work (....they've changed all the links to the webcams and now they're surprised it doesn't work in the app) and the app isn't available in France (the app is literally available in France).
Oh and if a user changes their font sizes in their mobile settings, it doesn't always look "very good" in the app.......5 -

New normal. New app to build.
- Still have to maintain older systems in parallel
- That leaves 1 week for developing the new app
- Slept 2 hours a day, coding coding coding
- Tested the shit out of the app because.. hey, its to help the customers' safety and health... I don't mind staying up late
- Finished the app in 5 days, code is now on prod
- Could barely look myself at the mirror because I look like shit
- Btw the app requires an external device as an input, the existing device works flawlessly based on my testing
- We need more devices
- Clueless manager bought new model instead. He assumed everything is fine, no testing is required
- Tested the app with new device model, doesn't work
- Deadline closing in
- Thanks, there goes my sleep

I was kinda proud, when I released a new test version of my android app, since I had a couple of new features and bug fixes. The new devRant UI is pretty cool and also love the new features in the app.
Good job dfox and trogus.18 -
New task with a march deadline, our 1 developer (me) will work on multiple projects, while also learning about AR (I'm a WebDev) and creating a commercial ready AR app....
I think it's time to get back to looking for a new job... -
Even though I’m new here, I’m super addicted to DevRant. I Raka every opportunity to open the app to see what’s happening.
Thanks for making me feel welcome everyone.2 -
How can I turn off “new comments on a rant you posted” notification. I mean in app notification like this;6

So, this week I started working on my first mobile app with Xamarin Forms. I already have a login and register functionality. The mobile app is connected to an Laravel API and SQL database. Happy with the progress so far.
I am new to C# so I had some struggles, but after some days I began to really like it.9 -
"When you set up the new app instance, can you set an easier password for our account? No special characters or numbers"
Sure. It's not like having a strong password prevented unauthorized access in the first place. BECAUSE YOU GAVE THE FUCKING LOGIN DETAILS TO AN UNAUTHORIZED 3rd PARTY! Which incidentally is why I now have to set up a new app instance... -
dfox, trogus, can you give us information about the success (or failure) of the new financing? I think a lot of us who care about this app are interested in this.11
-
Created a piece of code (code A). It didn't work.
Found a replacement on StackOverflow (code B), commented out my code A and tried the new one.
Everything seemed fine, deleted code A. Tried the app and it crashed.
Re-added the commented code, and the app started working again.

I recently entered a new job as a software developer for a hot-in-market startup, and they are offering a huge amount of money to maintain just one app
The reason why they are offering that much money is because it is a hybrid app written in closurescript, they are willing to pay for learning closure but just maintain the app
So yay?2 -
You know you need a new pc when android studio freezes after you app crashes when trying to print out the exception but Crashlytics is faster by sending you an email.

Too bad I just overwrite an older version of my app over the new one. 😷😥😞😟😧😭😞😵
well it means new innovations too

Has anyone tried Shapr app to meet new ppl / expand professional network / heck, make new friends?
I'm thinking of giving it a go once I'm in a bigger city (Toronto) -
So apparently I can make a new rant from the Web. Hey guys.... Is there an API for this? If so I think I sense an official devRant Python App :P4

I was so happy when Facebook introduced standalone Messenger web app so I wouldn't get so easy distracted from work by Facebook. Well guess what, I'm getting a new addiction in exchange: reading devRant

Before I could complete my material design v1 app, the new material spec was released with half the tool available to comply with the spec.3

Wow! Giving Thanks this morning for the new devRant upgrade. Tag suggestions, links open in app, mute notifs... Thanks devRant team

I love business ya know, always soo damned smart.
Our current products code base is soo old it will literally up and stop working come December, from April we cannot launch new clients on it.
The new app should be production ready, at least the MVP with our most essential features.
A week from tomorrow a new senior dev starts so that he can build new features into the current app. -
Fuck fuck fuck. Joined a new gig. Been a week and today saw code which did something like this: .append(“<style>.add{}”)
FML! And this is a react app. -
I just downloaded battery monitor app to figure out why my new phones battery is draining so quickly...
The app says though it's best to charge only up to 80%.
But logically if this were true, shouldn't the manufacturer adjust for it themselves so that when Android says 100... In reality it's actually 80?15 -
Man it really pisses me off when people try to manage shit by keeping all the windows on the same desktop, meanwhile i create a new desktop for every app i open.7

I'm in Europe and searched for a few spots along my route with Google maps app, the search results contained USA
well done Google.. maybe you need 10 000 new devs to fix that1 -

i hate the QA guys when they gets excited finding a "SUPER REGRESSION OMG THE APP IS BROKEN" just to find out that they haven't read the new specifications.4 -

Hey guys i relased a new app called: SaleMonkey. Im currently working on the next update an would like to get some serious feedback from people who look at the app with a developer mindset to spot some Problems.
I hope its not Bad if i poste a linkt to my app. You can get it here:

Currently only on Android. Ios Version is planed for next year.

I had to rename my unofficial devRant client SwiftUIRant due to some concerns from Apple regarding the term Swift in the app name. 🙄
Well, it’s JoyRant now. 😁
And there is a new test version in TestFlight:

WTF WTF WTF
FUCK YOU SAMSUNG NOTE 8 NOTES APP
FYI : I was ex iPhone user.
I bought a new Samsung note 8 mobile. It has Easy Do app simillar to Notes.
So I had a meeting with business meetup with potential ideas and leads. And i was writing on this Notes app.
After the meetimg done, I closed the app.
And next day (today) I wanted to check what I have got from meetings. And fucking found that this app does not save it until you press save button.
Okay. I AGREE MAY BE MY FAULT, BUT THAT FUCKING APP SHOULD HAVE ASKED ME WHETHER I WANTED TO SAVE IT OR NOT THE SIMPLEST NOTEPAD WILL DO EVEN YOU TRY TO CLOSE IT.
FUCK IT THAT APP.11 -
Would anyone willing to give my new web app a test run email me at hello@songbox.rocks
nothing in it for you but a "thanks" and the warm glow of finding all my mistakes I'm afraid.28 -
the famous:" How long it takes you to deploy a new version of your app with a change that involves a single line of code " a coach keeps saying makes me sick2

I got the responsibility for a project using Google App Engine the first time.
It is exciting to use the whole work day learning new stuff and read the documentation of a service you never worked with :] -
Original rant here
https://devrant.com/rants/10216244/...
So, I see a need, I write an app, and hit a brick wall... writing the app itself took less time than trying to find testers to satisfy Google's new policy. Even the fruit company doesn't force you to go find 20 needs to test your app.
So fat I've got 15 testers... are there five more lurking around here?6 -
the year is 2050. yet another shitty 'note taking app' has be released by New Generic Shitty HypeBro Company™

*While designing the native app for a web application*
Me: So this feature in the app will basically be the same as Feature1 in the web app, correct?
Client: That's exactly right.
*Presenting the new app to the client*
Client: Why is this feature not behaving like the Feature2 in the web app?
Me: You said you wanted it like Feature1
Client: What? No, it must behave like Feature2
Please help1 -
So...we just sent a design proposal for a new feature to our biggest client. Their response? -Hmmm, let s drop this feature for now...OMG have you guys seen the new airbnb design for ios, like it s soooo cooool, we want that, redesign the whole app like this. - Yeah sure, except our app has nothing in common with theirs...Isn't it great when clients make decisions like this based on checking a new app version in the toilet real quick? 😝 Needless to say, we're not redesigning...

Hi everyone!
New to this app, and new to my PHP programer job .
Which types of projects/tutos can I do to increase my level quickly??
Greetings from France!8 -
Thank you google for providing useless shit as description for your app updates and thank you app devs for following Google's idiocy. Now, when you actually add a new but useful feature to your app I have no way of knowing it until I stumble on it by accident.

Dude wanted to make the new Vinted app, asked on Quora "how much would it cost?" I answered "no less than 15k" and now he's interested

Stupid shits, if I am converting this app from the VBA to a modern web app. Don't fucking suggest me copying and pasting tens of thousands of lines of shitty spaghetti code, into a new Web project.4

I spent most of the first half of the year writing an app that talks to an API that a vendor custom-made for us, to automate the opening of vendor hardware replacement tickets. It went live yesterday on the vendor's side, and I began 13 days of PTO today. Rather than go full-on with it, I handed it to three engineers to test it while I'm gone and document their experience. Preliminary results have been very good. I figured that would be the smartest way to handle my absence and still get some valuable work done with it.
But I'm going out of my mind! I want feedback now! I want to work more on it! All I can do is keep a list of fixes and improvements and stare blankly at it until after my vacation is over. My mind is still wedged firmly in the backend. Must relax!1 -
@dfox: is it just my Android device or is it the app that new sentences don't automatically start with a capital while typing. Kind of frustrating to manually press shift for each new line. Or am I just a little bit spoiled?10

Just started my first small laravel project (a chat app). current state: i can chat with myself -awesome! Almost forgot about this good feeling learning great new stuff :)1
-
To all the laravel developers: is there no way to get a clean new app without having to clean out all the default shit? Lumen seems to be pretty good for minimalism, but obv. doesnt provide as much as Laravel, so what do you use or do - do you each time clean out a laravel app before you start developing on it?..5

Keep restarting my mobile app because I keep discovering new ways to make it. Xcode? Xamarin? Skade? Flutter?6

So I got a new project idea , an app that takes your image and fits it in a mac window like a border .
Basically when I make a new website or app and I want to post screenshots of it , just the plain screenshot of the app looks bland but if I have a nice aesthetic ✨ mac OS window around it with rounder corners and stuff , it would look very cool . I bet everybody here has seen something like this once or twice. Is there an app that does this already ? takes an image from the user and puts a window around it , with the minimize ,maximize and close buttons and let's the user download the final image . Not necessarily a mac window with there could be option for different types of windows . Even VS code repo on Github has a mac window around it lol . So I would like to make an app that makes this whole process easier instead of requiring you to edit images of your app (in case u don't have windows or a mac for screenshot)
What tools (tech stack )would I require to make a web app for this purpose ?5 -

Damn Google, Damn Google Play, Damn Adsense, Damn Admob...
So finaly uploaded my first app to the Playstore. took 5 minutes to make, 25 to ad an Admob module, and a day to get the ad to show...
Now I have to wait 6 hours for my new id (cause I chose the wrong kind of ad) to show and know If it will show on the App...
Luckly The App only has one download so far... mine lol4 -
Apple's thoghts: it's better to create shortcuts using the new ios12 app to turn on/off completely wifi/bluetooth rather than selecting it from control center like it was supposed to function

We're moving our services to a new app interface, and it drives me crazy when a BA tells me to make something look like the old, terrible app because "user's won't like a change." You're making a whole new app! You can fix the terrible appearance and functionality issues! Take advantage of this!
It's starting to feel like I'm putting together an awful Frankenstein's Monster of code and components. -
What's your thoughts on the newly released .app tld? Is it going to be the new .io?
It also seems like Google provides TLS certificates for free to all .app domains. I know there's let's encrypt but I still think that this is great. Google is really pushing a more "Secure" internet. -
So I have to install chromium because line isn't available for linux...
Line is far east messaging/social app, and new customers use it.6 -
My most recent workaround occurred last week.
We have a demo very soon and I had to change our iOS app to use a new Web API endpoint for uploading content.
Long story short: The existing code is so awful and rigid and dependant on Core Data that I ended up having to completely bypass the service layer of the app and implement the new endpoint as a raw HTTP request. Its gonna take a long time to refactor the existing service layer. All because the new endpoint has a different content type. -
I build an android app for a start-up. It took me 2 months to build that app. After I finished they didn't use the app as they started working on some different idea. They didn't even pay me for that app even after requesting many times..
Now after 1.5 years they have the audacity to come to me and ask me to work on a new Android app.
What should I do?5 -
just came to the conclusion that my current side-project is a bunch of crap...
now desperate finding a new app idea :/4 -
I'm trying to go into iOS app development. Should I bother with Objective-C or is Swift the new way to go?5

When you are in the last strech of development for a new Android app, and you learn that Firebase replaces GCM2

I really was planning on learning iOS Swift app development when the new MBP came out, but now they're saying it may be released in October. Is there anyway I can start iOS development on my PC?5

iOS 14, two thoughts.
1. It manipulates people. They added app gallery and now when you try to delete app it asks you if it should rather hide it into the app gallery, exploiting your hoarder bias so you have more apps and thus more notifications if you haven't disabled them. That's a no from me.
2. It fixed a LOT of bugs and annoyances. I quit next js because of the exact same thing being important to me — they were busy doing only the new features to constantly pitch and lure investors, they never responded to issues and never fixed anything. I'm happy that Apple realizes that it's important to fix bugs.
Overall I'm happy. My iPhone X is pretty old already (87% battery capacity remaining) but it's much faster with iOS 14 than with iOS 13. The main thing is reduced latency pretty much everywhere. Especially the screenshots, I'm barely detecting the click and the screenshot is already done. No perceivable latency if you ask me. New refreshed look is amazing, backside tap actions are cool, new music app is amazing.
People tell me that apple is forcing you to buy new gadgets with updates but explain to me then WHY my old iphone X got much faster with new iOS? That's a contradiction. If I buy a new iPhone it'll be because of dead battery (that's physics and not exclusively Apple issue) or just because I want 120hz and lidar bokeh.13 -
Anyone knows a good article/tutorial to build a small drone (Quadcopter for example) controlled by custom app (via wi-fi or Bluetooth for example)
I am totally new on this, and I need somewhere to start.
it is important to control it via custom app2 -
Why asking your dev team for any suggestions or solutions when you can easily say „make new website! Fast!“... now we have a new Website providing the exact same features as the so desired App... no further words for this.1

Added new function to my Android app, tested for an hour. It was ok --> git push.
After some time the function doesn't work anymore... -
Hey Guys.

Hey devRant team, I saw the new designs and they are awesome. Actually I just started learning Android App Development and I was curious what stack do you guys use for devRant Android App. And while we are on this can you guys share the stack you use for IOS app and Web app. Thank you and by the way you've done a really good job with android app.6

Is it just me or whenever I have to work on a new app I end up spending eons just trying to decide on what programming language to use and what not?

Need recommendation on which server side language/framework to use along with my new react native app.

Is there a website that is equivalent to the mobile app store but with webapp and website instead? Something like a library of websites where we can rate and discover new, interesting, and useful websites.4

What are the first set of apps you install after you purchased a new mobile device?
Mine is:
- Gmail
- Chrome
- Bank app
- VLC19 -
I'd like to finish the web app I'm doing so my wife can finally use it. And I'd also like to start a new one while learning something new. Maybe an Android app or another web app using Angular 4? 🤔2

Rewriting all my MIT App Inventor apps that use online resources to make them use the new dictionaries instead of lists of pairs for the JSON responses. Super fun.2

so , anymore starting off "developers" like me here ? Coded an android app and not much else important , anyone else just starting off to learn stuff here ?

Ok fuck everything, I will not work today nothing is fucking working, the feature that I implemented easily in the last app, is harder to implement now because of the new version of the library. Even the old and same version of the library I used in the previous app is not compatible with the new version of the framework. What a freaking horrible development experience we are getting into. Developing should become easier not harder mother fucking library developers, should I write my own library now? fuck you, and fml too.
-
It's been a bit since I last used this platform, but I recently got a "new" phone (as in it's new relative to the one I've been using) only to find the devRant iOS app is no longer on the US app store. It doesn't seem like the tools used to create ipas from installed apps works on devRant (I believe they're built around 32-bit apps and we are way past that now) so now I just have this device with an app that seemingly no longer exists.
...cool I guess?6 -
Guys I’m mobile app developer , I know my way around objective-C, swift and java , now I Wanna learn a new language just to expand my horizon , any suggestions ? I’m thinking of python 🤔3

Create and release a complete app (or join a open source protect) instance of learning new technologies :/

Haven't updated my app since early November. Think it's about time to implement the feature I've been wanting to implement since the beginning of December, but for now I think I'm just going to enjoy the rest of my vacation in Italy.

I'm really worried about my future as a programmer. should i learn a new language? I already experienced in PHP and a little javascript and vuejs and recently i learned some golang for web and previously I do some java/kotlin for android app.
should i learn a new language such as python? node? or some new framework/library like react?
or i should stick with what i already know?5 -
I (frontend) was given 2 weeks to develop a new feature of the app. Almost after the end of 1 week, backend guy was finished with his code , with still bugs pending. Since backend wasn't ready for most part of the development process, I was working on my part, basically creating functionality and created views using the UI guys wireframes.
Now, we were on a time crunch , I didn't got enough time to improve the wireframes or to work with the UI guy . I released on staging environment and no one liked the UI.
App feature was supposed to be released on Tuesday. Shit hit the fan and i had to create a new ui, code the new parts of the app, do shit ton of other work and extending the deadline to today.
As of now backend code is still not fully functional,
app is ready but edge cases still not tested and I have to pull an all nighter to finish this fucking piece of shit.2 -
Started a new contract, nearly end of first week without access to code repository. Spent all day helping on old contract and looking up Archer gifs for our internal messaging app.

Project Manager: Our employees are not receptive to the new internal app we built
Dev: Have you tried making airplane noises when you show it to them?1 -
I should probably make peace with the fact that I can't code at night. Right now, I'd like to make a new .NET MVC web app, and I'm like, "fuck, where do I start?"1

Hi there, I'm new to devRant, wondering has anybody successfully downloaded the ios version of devRant on App Store? I switched my account to the US version App Store, still not work. Which country could download this app?5

Any one hear hates the process of creating a new react app, cuz the command takes so long.
You should know that there is an NPM package called create-react-app-offline, its offline and faster.2 -

Whenever I create a new backend and a new slack app for that particular backend.
Most painful thing is to authenticate slack requests.
I know HOW to do it, but I still HAVE to do it.
So, created a pip package for authenticating slack app requests.
Feel free to check it out and leave any feedbacks.
