Hats off for Microsoft.
After recent updates we are now able to install Windows 10 without ever being promoted to log into a Microsoft account. I was even able to uninstall OneDrive like any other application.
Small steps into the good direction.9 -
Found a guy working at Microsoft with this bio.
"Software Engineer at Microsoft. Loves Linux, the cloud, Vim, and DevOps. But mostly Linux"
Like come on Microsoft, even they choose Linux over Windows21 -
Lol, Microsoft finally gave up on Edge, and will go with a spin based on Chromium.

Im at TechDays 2017
Its mostly about microsoft.
All the microsoft speakers use a macbook.
The only non microsoft speaker I saw used a microsoft tablet and had issues.6 -
The only thing that's awesome from Microsoft and that too has over 5000 issues.
PS: I love VSCode.18 -
My only issue with Microsoft buying Github is that it's one more step towards full almighty power for the tech giants. Soon everything will be Microsoft, or Google, or Facebook. It'll be like in Demolition Man, where every restaurant is Taco Bell/Pizza Hut.8

Just watched a Microsoft Visual Academy course where the instructor uses sublime and has the pop up that they haven't payed for it. 😂6

Microsoft open sources 60K patents. Did I travel to some alternate universe?
https://google.com/amp/s/...
Few of those times when I get to add microsoft and opensource together in the tags.9 -
I’m reluctant to comment on the github / Microsoft thing because to be honest, the way a lot of people are reacting to it is just completely retarded, and it’s had far too much airtime.
Anyway... if you’re gonna leave GitHub because they’ve been acquired by Microsoft, then just shut up and leave. No one gives a fuck. Least of all anyone at Microsoft, because you’re probably not paying for anything there anyway.
Just fucking go to bitbucket or gitlab already... however I bet the vast majority don’t end up leaving.3 -
Another "microsoft is actually trying" post, excited how it turns out

Microsoft WHAT THE ACTUAL F**K. WHAT IS THE REASON TO UPDATE VISUAL STUDIO INSTALLER TO UNINSTALL VISUAL STUDIO.16
-
Tomorrow is the day I have been waiting for my entire career...
Tomorrow Microsoft stops supporting Internet Explorer! 🥳14 -
Dear people who think Microsoft buying GitHub is fine because Microsoft is more supportive of open source than before.
Here's the facts.
1) Microsoft is a large tech company investing in many things. That's a fact.
2) If Microsoft were to exploit GitHub, it would be a benefit to other departments in Microsoft. This is also a fact.
(For example, if tomorrow GitHub was tied to azure or some annoying shit like that.)
3) If such exploitation occurs, it will most likely be to the detriment of the free community of developers. This is a highly probable outcome.
4) The only question now is this.
"Does Microsoft care about open source enough to cut down on potential profit."
The answer of any sane, unbiased individual had to be no.
This is why people leave GitHub today. It is NOT because some childish hatred for Microsoft. In fact, I would've personally moved out of GitHub if "any" other large tech company had bought it, thereby compromising it's neutrality.
Edit: spelling20 -
Me: Why are all the devs leaving work early!?
Other devs: Microsoft Services are down.
Me: Okay I'll start packing.1 -
I actually like Microsoft these days. Despite developing on Mac machines, we use VSTS for code repo, build/release pipelines and work item tracking, and Azure for all things cloud. It all works incredibly well together and at low cost.
Microsoft has changed ethos massively in the last few years. In my opinion, the classic dev mantra of “Microsoft is shit and evil, Linux is flawless” is outdated and getting kind of boring.6 -
Where is the angry shit throwing rant against apple today? I expect the same treatment as Microsoft5

Microsoft brute-forces password-protected archives in OneDrive.
“Microsoft will decrypt, open, and scan protected Zip archives uploaded to the company's cloud servers in search of potential computer threats. Security researcher Andrew Brandt recently discovered the issue while trying to share malware samples with other researchers through SharePoint.”
This is when I encrypt my archives, I use _very_ long passwords generated by Bitwarden. Like this: qkYdE5i@27yHTTj8YsMDKQ9^mo$j@!P^M4qA95Y5VqR*53otAMuMv$9sdxtF4HAuNdAYoW9RPVxucJ3
Good luck bruteforcing that, Microsoft!

Okay, this is me panicking. We're switching to Microsoft Teams at work. This means that I will have to cut the Slack and switch to a fucking Microsoft solution for chat. Am I supposed to be worried?24

Apple vs. Microsoft: who sucks more?
At first glance, it's obvious that Apple sucks more. Their overpriced products are so bad that they rely heavily on vendor lock-in and cult-like brainwashing.
Then again, Apple's vendor lock-in also acts as buyer lock-out so that it's easy to avoid Apple. Basically, Apple sucking more also means they suck less. Think different indeed.
Microsoft on the other hand sucks more because their crap is so ubiquitous that it's difficult to avoid Microsoft.
That looks like a draw - but here's the tie breaker: Microsoft tries to ape Apple, BUT! Microsoft even sucks at copying Apple's suck.
So here's the final verdict: Microsoft sucks more.38 -
Microsoft is releasing a first Visual Studio for Mac preview and is also joining the Linix foundation. Good to see Microsoft finally serious about the opensource community.5

!rant
I used to be someone who disliked microsoft and windows, but with the new CEO Satya Nadella things are going in the right direction. Really love the stuff microsoft is doing right now! bash for windows, 24 bit color console, visual studio code and the monaco editor, dotnet core ... lately I have switched to windows 10 from OSX and I couldn't be happier :)17 -
Fu*king Windows!!!
Integrating Linux kernel into their new build.
Microsoft Edge insiders experimenting with Chromium engine.
Microsoft has now bowed down to the open source community...
All hail Linus Torvalds!!!!
All hail Linux!!!
All hail Open Source!!!

Whoever at Microsoft decided to give away so many freebies in the Visual Studio Dev Essentials thing deserves a fucking knighthood.5

Here Ye, Here Ye.

Did you know? Microsoft added a new feature.
So if there is an IP conflict, our beloved Windows 10 doesn’t cry with an IP conflict error. Instead it sets an auto configured IP which doesn’t even connect to the network sending the user into confusion and a fit of rage.
Thanks Microsoft™7 -
OKAY MICROSOFT EXPLAIN TO ME WHY THE FUCKING FUCK WINDOWS CREATION TOOL WILL ONLY DOWNLOAD TO THE C:\ DRIVE?12
-
Are you fucking kidding me, Microsoft?!
You are literally doing the opposite thing of "protecting me".
I might as well just download all the viruses myself and watch my CPU rise up like that. Thanks, Microsoft for nothing, but bad things.12 -
Anyone hear about the emergency patch that Microsoft just released? Its a RCE vulnerability CVE-2017-11937 which ironically targets all of Microsoft's security products.
Basically when Windows defender scans a specially crafted file the attacker can run code as the LocalSystem. Nice one Microsoft!1 -
So Microsoft removed the transparency Aero Glass effect going from Windows 7 to 10, to make 10 more "modern", even though 7 was pretty as fuck with that transparency.
Now they're bringing it back with their wanky "acrylic" blur?
Make up your mind Microsoft6 -
Just finished dinner and the phone goes:"hello I am phoning from Microsoft support" *cracks knuckles* let the games begin3
-
Just in case nobody has mentioned this yet:
Yes Microsoft I do have a dualhead setup.
Yes Microsoft I do want to watch video on my left screen while having window focus on something on the right monitor.
No Microsoft this doesn't mean that I *lost* focus on the left window.
No Microsoft this doesn't mean that I want your Movies and TV application to suddenly minimize (and continue playing anyway) while I focus on some server monitoring window on my right display.
Microsoft, there exist people that use more than your average user with a single C: drive that play Candy Crush on Facebook all day. And the limitations that you currently impose might very well be what keeps the Microsoft UWP applications from getting adopted. Because you know what? SMPlayer, a default application in any of my Linux workstation machines, it does handle such window transitions just fine!
Microsoft, I love how you at least gave us the option to enable Ctrl-Shift-C and Ctrl-Shift-V in WSL and conhost in general over that abomination that is Right-click and Return (those are so random!) that are relics from CP/M. But seriously? At this rate, I'd definitely not call it usable for anyone but those with a single monitor yet.
So please _/\_13 -
To people who may not be aware, Steve Ballmer is no longer the CEO of Microsoft. They actually dont suck anymore.6

Microsoft will roll out the real Curl in Windows 10 now. It's already released for Insider-Builds.14

For all the hate going around about microsoft i just wanted to list things microsoft has done a great job at (imo of course):
windows 10
powershell
microsoft office
minecraft
xbox
microsoft edge
probably more so don't hate for the hell of it.20 -
Don't you love when Windows does not like the programs developed by Microsoft.
Self hate is the best....1 -
There is no technical reason why Microsoft should buy Github, no!
It's the same reason why they bought Skype, LinkedIn and Minecraft and everything else: Money and monopolisation.
That's destructive and an obstacle to progress.
Microsoft, Google, Apple, Facebook: Go fuck yourself!3 -
I am using VS Codium instead of VS Code to see what kind of things change when you scrape the Microsoft out of it. Apparently some tools for dotnet core like debugging are locked down and only allowed to run in Microsoft made IDEs.
I hate the sneaky Microsoft API lockdown nonsense and will be steering future projects away from any dotnet core development. I thought this was dead in VS Code but they managed to sneak it in.6 -
This app allows you view the json file your computer upload to Microsoft.
But to open it, you have to join the insider program and agree to upload more private data.
To know what data Microsoft spying on me, I have to agree to let Microsoft spying me willingly.
What kind the logic is that?😤15 -
Microsoft 2015:
Windows 10 is our last version.
.
.
Microsoft 2021:
Have you heard of the new Windows 11?8 -
Look, I've given Microsoft and Windows a lot of shit, but I just have to be fair and say the one piece of hardware that I absolutely covet is the Surface Pro... If that is the direction Microsoft is heading in the coming years I'll have a lot more respect for them...8
-
Wtf Microsoft ?!?
Clean install of windows 10 pro, got everything set up, now Microsoft Store does not work because I need an app to open ms-windows-store ?!?
Common answers found on Google does not solve the problem -_-6 -
One thing every junior web developer learns is how to implement a login system.
They may not make it the most secure, but it works.
It boggles my mind how Microsoft still don't know how to make a login that works consistently.
Every Microsoft login page requires like 30 redirections to work.
The Teams app on my PC fails to login at least once a week, just because another Microsoft app is logged in using the same account (usually office), but Windows is not.
Microsoft needs to take it's head out of it's ass and BEG Google to teach them how to make a decent login system.4 -
Call it like you see it:
TF30063 : You have been fired quietly, or the Microsoft authentication system is down (again.)1 -
Unpopular Opinion: When Satya came to Microsoft leadership, Microsoft was a whole lot better company
Forget Windows and shit, Azure was the only open Microsoft on Ballmer days, then Satya, who were part of Azure decided to give the entire MSFT the Azure experience. Look where we are now
not saying Microsoft is no longer bad, its just more tolerable as a company now. Nice to see it backtracking and bracing stuff unlike its first leaderships12 -
With the brand new Microsoft C++ compiler, what you see in the debugger, is not always what you get...8

The new version of the (unofficial) client (now UWP and with "Stories") for Windows 10 is here... but I can't release it due to a Microsoft Store bug... 😢
Hope to see a Microsoft fix soon, because I can't wait to share it with you! 😝4 -
Today my client emailed me and said : "Isn't google and microsoft the same program". What is life anymore?2

Oh no Microsoft might buy GitHub! It's the end of the world! Everyone grab your code and hide in a nuclear bomb shelter.9

Conspiracy Theory:
Windows 10 - suspiciously free upgrade and "pirate friendly."
Microsoft - really rolling with the hardware scene lately.
Windows 10 Updates - suspiciously destroyed the hardware in 4 laptops and a desktop I've worked on putting the owners in the market for new Microsoft hardware.
Coincidence?9 -
Fuck having to optimize newsletter for fucking outlook which uses Word engine to render html newsletters.. Microsoft, what the fuck bro?17

That moment you read a stupid rant, check the profile and realize it's just an Microsoft developer.7

Gotta love when you have something breaking because of an interface you have to maintain for a subcontractor for some shit that never should have been subcontracted in the first place and the problem is an obscure error caused by a Microsoft product that you're only using because the other Microsoft product you were using is no longer supported. So I guess what I am saying is fuck subcontractors, fuck Microsoft, and fuck tlb files
-
I am tired of people shi**ng all over Windows and Microsoft. Microsoft runs probably the biggest website and cloud environment in the world. And guess what? On Windows servers. The company I work for has 200,000 employees and many massive data centers with trillions of client records. And we run a 100% Microsoft environment.
I would imagine that any sys admin or developer can appreciate such scale and reliability.17 -
The guts of Microsoft:

Yes, when hell will freeze 😂7 -
Skype for business is the most useless fuking piece of shit enterprise joke of a software. Fuck you microsoft.11

Just got accepted as a volunteer (teacher assistant) in a non-profit organization, funded by Microsoft.
They teach high school students CS twice a week.
I know it might not be much, because I will not be payed, but I will be trained and teach alongside Google and Microsoft engineers.
The organization is called TEALS.
I hope it is a good experience and build a good network.
I do not have any friends, nor any engineer friend since I moved in USA, so I think this is a good opportunity.
P.S. Please for the love of god do not bash here Microsoft. Everyone, even the people who rant about hating Microsoft, will accept a job there if they got the chance. So please stop the hypocrisy if you intend to do some "sarcastic" comment about this organization funded by Microsoft.9 -
Windows not powering off when I press the shutdown button.
Mandatory long rant warning
Oh my fucking god, how many times have I lost my shit because of this fucking bullshit.
When I press the shutdown button, I want you to shut the fuck down you sorry excuse for an operating system.
Me and my friends want to hang out together, so I shut down my PC and walk over to their house, expecting an intense session of doing programming stuff and debating linux distros. Whatever the fuck we do when we get together.
I get to their house and pull out my laptop,, only its hot as fuck. And then I see it: the battery indicator is red. "What the balls?" I think to myself. I open the lid, and guess what?
WINDOWS DIDN'T FUCKING SHUT DOWN, AND IT STAYED ON THE POWERING OFF SCREEN ALL THIS FUCKING TIME. WHAT THE FUCK?
Now, my laptop has a bomb ass battery, so I didn't even bring a charger with me, and now I'm fucking stuck at a programming session with friends without a computer. FUCKING BULLSHIT.
If this was a one time thing, I wouldn't have cared so much, but this happened countless fucking times. Too many.
I would have deleted this cum socket of an operating system months ago if it weren't for the Windows exclusive software I need for school, and now that Steam supports games for linux, Windows has even less of an excuse to stay on my fucking laptop.
Windows is supposed be fucking simple, but linux takes it by a goddamn long shot. When I type "shutdown now" or "poweroff", linux shuts the fuck down, no questions asked. And if I ever need root permissions, I just type "sudo" instead of restarting the fucking program and requesting admin privileges.
Most of the software I use is compatible with both MacOS and Windows, and I already have Ubuntu installed on my laptop, so what do you guys think, should I butcher Windows off of my SSD and give MacOS a try?
Also, what is this magic? Ranting actually calmed me the fuck down... I need to start ranting more.
FUCK MICROSOFT AND FUCK WINDOWS, I WISH I COULD BURN TO FUCKING OBLIVION6 -

I hate Microsoft for not making Office run on Linux. It's the only reason I have to use a fucking MacBook instead of a Linux laptop. No Microsoft, I'm not going to run windows on my laptop. The system ist too much different to my production systems.
I hate Microsoft for not thinking about the consequences of not providing a Linux version. I have to use the fucking Apple Finder in my daily job. I have to buy a thousand dongles to connect anything to my laptop.8 -
Microsoft owns github
Microsoft owns windows
Microsoft owns powershell
Why then, why exactly, is it so fucking hard to get ssh private keys for github, up and running on windows powershell.
I tried to change permissions on files but then it broke the git-bash implementation 😭.
Fuck it !! 😭😭9 -

It's not everyday that I give Microsoft praise, but damn, the new Windows Terminal is... Surprisingly decent.
Together with WSL2, it allowed me to switch from working in a VM to working fully from Windows.
And with little tweaking of the settings file, it acts exactly the way I like.
Good job creating something modern, almost universal and usable Microsoft!9 -
I must admit I like Microsoft a lot, but today, I hate them. Yesterday the Windows 10 anniversary update was pushed and I was forced to install it. As I had a day of meetings I did.
This morning I started my laptop and and browsed to one of the web apps I'm developing for my client. The website didn't work. Turns out Microsoft uninstalled all specific Windows features, such as IIS, MSMQ, and much much more. Guess I'll be spending my time this morning or day to reconfigure my system. Happy anniversary Microsoft.6 -
I FINALLY GOT CHROME BACK!!! A few weeks ago, my computer, for no reason, said I couldn't use chrome due to Microsoft Family features, despite me not having a Microsoft Family setup. I have been using edge for weeks. Pray for my sanity.
The solution, was to create a new Microsoft account and run chrome as that. But, it does bring up the interesting topic of how much Microsoft sucks. They do this all the time, they look at something that doesn't need meddling with, like my right to use my property and my apllications, and release some garbage they didn't test without thinking of the implications. Did anyone ever as Microsoft for a way to manage your family forcefully? No. Because, if you cared enough, I'm sure you could just download a stupid family app, rather than let Microsoft take hostage of your computers.
One thing really interesting to me was that Firefox nor chrome worked, but edge could launch just fine. A little suspicious, don't ya think, Microsoft?6 -
The Universal Windows Platform is really efficient. Visualizing a 13MB database literally takes 750MB of RAM. Thanks Microsoft❤

well played Microsoft for redirecting me to a website while I don't have internet.

Some of these Software Engineers on YouTube are so frustrating me:

- Hey guys, so I have resigned from Google/Microsoft after working for 1 year because blah blah9 -

What's up with all of these unstable updates at the same time from Google and Microsoft?
First Microsoft releases an update that deletes My Documents
Then chrome on windows gets updated with a "eat your disk in addition to ram usage" that freezes my PC.
Like whatever happened to testing before releasing, least some minimal testing...
Then again, it's a fucking Microsoft product... -.-5 -

Why the heck does the C++ committee let Microsoft have so much influence over the language?
I mean they do not give a flying flamingo about language aesthetics!
No, no, we cannot have `typeof` in the C++ standard because Microsoft pulled `decltype` out of their nullptr.3 -
What the fuck Microsoft !! Your android apps are total piece of shit! Fucking outlook Android app don't have support to view doc file which is created using your shitty Microsoft teams portal.
If I click on that doc file link through my outlook app, you redirect me to chrome.
Ok that's still acceptable. But the real shit starts now. You tell me that your browser isn't supported! Is this fucking joke?? Who in the world develops a website which can't support latest version of Android chrome?
Now that I have installed your shitty Microsoft teams app, it doesn't show up in "open with" options. Clicking on that link is still redirecting to the chrome saying that browser is unsupported.
Also, your shitty Microsoft teams app can't edit fucking doc file. When I click on your Microsoft word icon, You again ask me to install Android app for Microsoft word.
Seriously fuck you Microsoft and your shitty apps!1 -

Documenting. Starting Microsoft Word to fill in a preconfigured template. It contains two numbered lists, but the numbering incorrectly continues from the first list to the second. Right-click > numbering > Set Numbering Value > Start new list. Bang! MS Word fucks up the complete formatting, margins, tabs, paragraph spacing... But the list numbering still continues from the first list to the second.
I SO FUCKING HATE MICROSOFT WORD FOR WINDOWS!!!7 -
I'm quite the Microsoft fan, so let the downvotes flow, but can you please tell me why:
1. Some consider IE and Edge to be the same thing (when they are not - https://developer.microsoft.com/en-... )
2. Java is better than C# (which I have heard some people say)?7 -
Somebody in Microsoft is playing with Github.com styling. Everything is broken from the last few hours.1

I really don't understand why Microsoft has created "Media Creation Tool" rather then linking the ISO files directly on their website.6

Because everyone else is ranting about this too:
I'm not afraid of Microsoft wanting to monetize everything or that they will restrict site access to Microsoft Edge only. What I am afraid of is that they change the privacy policy.
Who knows what they are up to?
I hope GitHub is awesome enough to decline the offer.... Let's see.13 -
Why even show the possibility to uninstall Microsoft Solitaire Collection when it just keeps on reinstalling itself?1

Yesterday, microsoft showed me once again, what it means to "obey".
I tried to install Microsoft SQL Server 2012 on a virtual machine with OS Windows7.
The installation-center asked me to choose an installation-folder for SQL-Server.
No matter what, for any folder i had chosen for the installation, the setup replied with the errormessage "The installation-folder is invalid"
So i considered asking our platform-services team, whether they gave me administrative rights for the vm.
They did. I had full access to the components of my vm.
After a few days i finally recognized, that i had picked a wrong iso for the installation of sql server.
Instead of sql server 2012 + Service Pack 3, i picked sql server 2012 ServicePack 3.
So after all, Microsoft tried to tell me by showing the message "The installation-folder is invalid", that the setup weren't able to find an installation of Microsoft SQL Server 2012.
God damned!!1!3 -

The proof that the time machine really exists and that Microsoft is using it gives me a lot of anxiety

Back in the days when I knew only Windows, I used to be a Microsoft fan. I wanted to use only Microsoft products. I had a Hotmail email account that Microsoft acquired. I used a version of Windows and Microsoft Office (even though I didn't know at the time that it was pirated). I wanted to be a Microsoft Student Partner (MSP) and promote Microsoft everywhere.
Fast forward to now (or maybe to the time after I got introduced to GNU/Linux), I started hating Microsoft solely for the reason that they had a price-tag on everything. Later on, when I got to open-source software, I hated Microsoft for making all of their software closed-source. When I decided to move out of the Microsoft environment, my next favorite was of course, Big Brother (Google, if you haven't gotten it) - Gmail, YouTube, Google Drive. My personal information was the price to pay for the services even though I wasn't OK with that fact.
Then again, I realized that you could actually have your own stuff if you had the know-how. Compile / host your own software on your own systems. Oh, then I went on a compile spree. That's when I realized I didn't need any of these corporations to own my data. Today, I try my best to keep my data in my control and not some corporations who gives me free stuff for the price of my data and personal information, no thanks.3 -
*use windows, ms office, vsc, skype probably code in ts, ... *
*rant about microsoft buying github*
I'm not a microsoft fan either, but thats the sad truth.1 -
Microsoft: "Let's publish APIs that all developers want and not tell them how to access it, making them waste hours on researching it...."
https://developer.linkedin.com/docs...
Microsoft: "That's a good one! Let's also not answer any of the stack overflows"
https://google.com/search/...
Microsoft: "That'll show em !"3 -
Microsoft has put out some really fantastic and educational lectures for free on YouTube. And I understand they have to use Microsoft technology but it makes me cringe when they say things like "Now I'm going to open Microsoft Edge and use Bing." You're working on a projector, we all see you doing it, you don't have to rub salt in the wound.2

How is it possible that Microsoft Office and Open Office have less portability issues then Microsoft Office on Windows vs. Microsoft Office on Mac? It's supposed to be the same f*king programm developed by the same company! <.<2

Am I the only one who switched over to GitLab after Microsoft bought GitHub and is still using it?11

Microsoft C/C++ code keeps on giving:
https://msrc.microsoft.com/update-g...
Too sad, that Microsoft is too poor to afford good devs. As a lot of devs here are sure, that good devs surely can code safe and secure in C/C++, Microsoft probably just lacks the resources to get such devs to work for them.13 -
They need to get rid of the Cook and employ a Chef.
It used to be creativity, foresight, instinct manifesting itself in great innovative design and software. Now we have everything focused on chasing the $. Just like Microsoft used to be, until that is they realised. Now Apple is the old Microsoft and Microsoft is the new Apple.
I live in hope.5 -
Watching the Microsoft keynote and realizing that most of the new features won't be available in desktop Linux until 3 years from now. 🙃1

ok I'll say it once again -
Fuck Devin, Fuck Sora, Fuck OpenAI, Fuck ChatGPT and fuck the worst of all, Microsoft.5 -
Snartsheet requires checkbox values of "true" or "false"
Microsoft Flow only passes booleans as "True" and "False" so the API rejects the data.3 -

kinda pissed at github/microsoft right now. my friend applied for the student developer pack before microsoft bought github and got accepted in 10 min, i'm still waiting and it's been three days. how long did yours take?11

Hang the fuck on Microsoft... Isn't the whole point of a season pass to get DLC...
I smell a money grub! -
Going to put my 2 cents on the Microsoft to use chromium based back ends.
I would personally prefer if Microsoft did a fork of the modules they are using and custom tailor them more, just that way edge will still be what it is but will have a much more matured backend (you can't deny Google has made more progress than Microsoft in this respect).
I agree that it is bad for Microsoft to go to chromium but it's an up hill battle for them to get edge as a legitimate competitor for Firefox and Chrome with as little maturity that it has3 -

Just watched the highlights of Microsoft Build and Google IO. I gave 80% attention to Google because they have more content than Microsoft.
No hate but Microsoft is running out of boxes2 -
How many of you remember and have ever tried Microsoft Webmatrix 3? 😍
In my opinion it was the most fresh looking and cute piece of software developed by Microsoft.4 -
I'm just wondering what if github developers start another github like site with the money they got from Microsoft?🤔2

Microsoft certsrv is returning UTF-8 on the authorization error page but UTF-16 when logging in via basic auth...
Debugged this for 2 hours today to parse the response correctly. Thanks Microsoft -
Microsoft: devs software blocking configurable by parents in Microsoft families.
Me: since I know this has to be coded in explorer.exe while it is running the desktop, LET'S JUST CLOSE THE DESKTOP AND OPEN A SOFTWARE THAT HAS BEEN BLOCKED BY MY DAD!5 -
Microsoft has sunk to a new low.
I opened a command window to check if there was an existing python install on the path. It reported nothing back. Zero errors. A second or 2 later it opened up the Microsoft Store so I can find this missing app.
The one last sacred thing was the command line, and you violated it.
FUCK YOU MICROSOFT!4 -
Microsoft is buying GitHub.
Microsoft is buying all the open source.
Microsoft is buying the world.
Microsoft is buying the universe.
Microsoft is buying all the multiverses in the space.
Microsoft is buying all the multiverses in any existing spaces.
Microsoft is buying all the fucking motherfucker planets of any multiverses of everything.
Microsoft is buying Microsoft.
Microsoft is buying the other GAFAM.
Microsoft is buying internet.
Microsoft is buying the life.
Microsoft makes many of their products open source.
Microsoft is liked.
...
Yeah, it's impossible. Especially the last sentence. -
Microsoft is bringing native support for PWA on Windows 10, which can be installed through Store
Microsoft has changed. It is not the same old microshit people used to !love. Sad :(2 -

Microsoft buys JavaScript developer platform npm; plans to integrate it with GitHub.

Now it's npm. MS is taking on the open source world slowly. What if later they change their motto of "Microsoft loves open source".5 -
The 'Not Junk' menu in Outlook contains 'not junk' (as expected) and what...?! Nice one, Microsoft!1

First Rant on here!
One of the most frustrating things I have come across in PowerShell is non properly implemented ErrorAction methods in Microsoft maintained modules.
When you are attempting to write a quick script with simple yet proper error handling and Microsoft fumbles the ball at the 1 yard line! -
FUNNY
Yesterday i was watching the intro videos of Visual Studio Code.
Was interesting to see a Microsoft licensed product using YouTube (Google) and macs (Apple) for demonstrations. Maybe Microsoft learned something about not ignore competitors hahaha6 -

I hereby claim the clowdstrike attack that paralyzed Microsoft, airlines, hospitals, public transportation stuff and so on around the world.
I did it for the lulz3 -
So Microsoft released visual studio for mac, or should i say. Microsoft ripped off Xamarin Studio and changed the logo14

What the FUCK is wrong with Microsoft? Do you really have to pick on the older people and change their familiar world to conform to your idiot younger generation that simply makes changes to try and justify their job? You HAD to remove my games to conform to your idiocy??? God I hate the Democrat Idiot Microsoft.20

The DataEase system that tracks escheated funds I wrote in the last millennium that lives today! The entire system can fit on a 3.5” diskette 😀 Does anyone remember DataEase? Popular dbms eons ago. Fun fact - Microsoft wanted to buy them to be Microsoft Access but they turned down the offer. 😫

The adventurous world of javascript and typescript never ceases to amaze me.
I'm investigating some paths to take for migrating this legacy project which has incurred some technical debt. Because of... reasons... even the frontend Vue project needs to be built on a Windows system. No, you can take your hands down, even wsl or docker aren't alternatives here. It's a long story and ties in with said debt.
I'm keen on rebooting the entire frontend using a newer Vue cli and scaffold up all the essentials like eslint and typescript which is currently not used. This is gonna be sweet.
Except, typescript (BY Microsoft) doesn't play well on a Windows (BY Microsoft) filesystem because of a recent change to support - get this - wsl. I can't decide if it's hilariously ironic or genius.
This response about sums up my current mood. https://github.com/Microsoft/...
Of course, further digging in other repos like node only turns up issues closed due to it being on Windows' end.
So now my readme has a troubleshooting section describing how to make changes to your filesystem if you run into issues in Windows and I want to go home.6 -
Microsoft, please stop the incomprehensible work vs. school account stuff and if you want to mail me a login code, then please actually do send an email. What's wrong with Microsoft Teams and office always giving its users headaches already when trying to log in?
A customer sent me a "FindTime" link, something like Calendso / Calendly, but "powered" by Microsoft Office. Seems that their power is off again, like ever so often. Microsoft: "can't access your account: You can't sign in here with a personal account. Use your work or school account instead."
Okay, go to bing, and search your error message. Try to use bing page to log in to my account: Microsoft: "We emailed a code." (No you didn't. At least I never received anything. And, yes, I did check my spam folder!) Microsoft: "Other ways to sign in: use Microsoft Authenticator".
me: "dear customer, please feel free to pick any time and date that matches your preference, as the FindTime link has been impossible to use".
How can Microsoft make me feel so dumb again, after more than 20 years as a developer? Have they ever heard about usability?10 -
I can't find a remote development job and here's Microsoft built a AI that can code. Well fuck you Microsoft, fix your fucken browsers. oh wait...Your AI again suck.
I think it's best I go back to the farm.1 -
That happens when you try to keep the faith in Microsoft...
Watching the video in the "Mini Mode" and then...
God bless the Creators Update! -
Do you think Microsoft buying GitHub would make a big impact on the Microsoft competitors who've integrated GitHub in their products?

F*ck you Microsoft for putting your useless browser over my IDE when i type "inte" in the quick access bar

Microsoft: literally one of the most profitable and technologically advanced corporations of all time
Also Microsoft: can’t handle a fucking livestream -
I had to share my laptops wifi internet with my desktop using ethernet. Microsoft has a dedicated feature of Internet Connection Sharing and it didn't work.
But manually bridging connection adapters got the fucking job done.
Just Microsoft things.2 -
Why the hell Microsoft browser support the standards created? The website which I had designed worked well in my mobile (Android) and PC (Ubuntu) then I just opened it in friends laptop which had windows 10 and guess what? Transition failed to work. Why the hell Microsoft? Why the hell?3

After the release of Visual Studio for Mac, the last thing to make a deadlock between Microsoft and Apple is Xcode for Windows.

Microsoft ends support for Windows 7
Support for Windows 7 ended this week which means that security or software updates will no longer be provided by Microsoft.
Windows 7 will continue to run however it will be more vulnerable to viruses and malware. The best way to remain secure is to use the latest operating system available.
Microsoft have a dedicated webpage for user questions, next steps and detailed advice. 👇

Swear to God I've changed the type definition of the same variable (in SSIS) three times already.
Microsoft has a worse memory than me!

For once I like Microsoft forcing shit on you. Automatically pinning the new Edge to the taskbar and opening it on startup. Fuck of IE.

MAUI shell is killing me.
Maybe it was a bad choice to choose MAUI at this point.
Shell functions Don't have docs,
Only one page on Microsoft docs,
And the functions Don't even do what the Microsoft docs says they do.
And they throw errors without any information or reason.20 -
Does anyone have the Microsoft surface laptop? And would recommend it for coding? Any advice appreciated :)3

Microsoft seems to be struggling with basic human decency such as linking the original when closing an issue someone spent their time writing as duplicate:

When a Microsoft Surface Pro fails doing updates right out of the box, you know MS gives no shits about the quality of it's software.

Microsoft understands we're pissed about low QA performance on updates. They're gonna bleach the Start menu and add a couple more buttons to the UI. https://theverge.com/2020/7/...9

Fuck the long process to make a new Microsoft Azure account. It needs both a verified email and a verified phone number, and (especially) doesn't accept a Google Voice number, which is the main number I actually use for everything. And of course, this is after doing the exact same process to make a new Microsoft account.1

Who said MS Edge was dead? Microsoft just announced that they plan to heavily support the Chromium project and "move to a Chromium-compatible web platform for Microsoft Edge on the desktop".

I was making a local mockup-site using the images for Office365.
And then I notice some REALLY peculiar.
All of the images where in fine dandy 68px png.. but Microsoft Access was in 65px jpg.
https://products.office.com/sv-se/...
CSS resizing is a no-go.. guess I'll just have to yank and mess around with vectors in PS for a fucking miniature picture.. Access brings us nothing but pain
I still can't believe how lazy of Microsoft this is.1 -

Microsoft officially discontinued the Internet Explorer but that information still needs to be processed (●__●)

Why you hate Java? Why the hate? What's the root of all this?(I suspect Microsoft) please explain22

This is the way the world ends. Not with a bang, but with : "The Microsoft Edge team is pausing updates to the Stable channel for Microsoft Edge. This means that Microsoft Edge 81 will not be promoted to Stable until we resume these updates."

Microsoft support number is also known for the Microsoft Office suite, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Windows, Operating Systems and the gaming console flagship is also tied up with the Microsoft support phone number. Microsoft rep on Microsoft Comunity:
"Unfortunately the option to Find and Replace is not available in OneNote 2010. If this is a feature that you are looking for in future releases of OneNote, be sure to send your feedback."
