We were all 16 once right? When I was 16, my school had a network of Windows 2000 machines. Since I was learning java at the time, I thought learning batch scripting would be fun.
One day I wrote a script that froze input from the mouse and displayed a pop up with a scary “Critical System Error: please correct before data deletion!!”. It also displayed a five minute countdown timer, after which the computer restarted.
I may or may not have replaced the internet explorer icon on the desktop with a link to my program on the entire student lab of computers. Chaos.12 -
Lecturer: Unfortunately, you will have to manually write these 16 combinations in the program.
Me: *writes a script to generate the combinations*12 -

My neighbor: Hey can you install FIFA 16 on my laptop? I can't seem to have the crack.
Me: I can't do that.
Him: Why not? They teach you that in college, right?

A 40 ish woman who works with economics said "you don' know anything about AI because you're only 16". I then proceeded to show her my shitty AI me and my friend made and explained how it worked. (It was really shit but would still consider it an AI)
She just stood there and was pretending to understand so when I was done explaining about it, I told her not to assume you're smarter than a 16 year old just because you're older and have read some article about AI on The Daily Mail.18 -

The Turbografx 16 (or Turbografx PC-Engine in Japan) has the most amazing fucking expansion port I've ever seen. Every bus is exposed, plus sound out and IN (unused by anything ever made for the thing), composite out (not included on the console itself, but 3rd-party addons allowed it), VGA out (!!!) and CPU HALTING/CLOCK CONTROL were included over this fucking thing.
You can even power the system with 5v in through the expansion port and bypass the power switch with it.
Info and diagram:
https://gamesx.com/misctech/...
Example:
To get composite out, send pin A22 out and ground the ground wire of the composite to any ground.
For VGA, it's a little more complex:
VGA1 to TG-A23, VGA2 to TG-B23, VGA3 to TG-C23, VGA9 to TG-A2, VGA13 (and VGA10 if you want compatibility with older displays) to TG-B11, VGA14 to TG-A10, VGA5-8 (and 10 if not hooked to TG-B11) to TG-C2
(VGA numbering from Wikipedia diagram)

Why does every Monitor with a high resolution have such a wide format, like 16:9 or worse? As a developer i need more vertical than horizontal space. 9:16 is ok for coding but too small for anything else. I want a Monitor which is 2:3, 3:4 (rotated 3:2 or 4:3) or 1:1 and has at least 1920x2560. The better the resolution the more lines can i see at once. Happy to have a new Server available!!! 16 GB RAM with a sum of 8 cores with up to 3,6 GHz and RAID 10 with 16 TB memory available. I will run a ton of VMs. One will contain an open stack instance which I am very happy to finally explore & work with!!!9

I spent 13 hours on a class project using c only to not finish because malloc had a mind of its own and kept segfaulting with errno 16, or "resource busy". Fml.6

It's a bit late but what do these specs mean?
The f and the 16/20.
I thought I was getting 20mp but all the camera apps say maz is 16.
And for RAWS, dinner say 13, OpenCamera says 16.9 -
"16$/h [CAD] is a decent salary in this market [small town]"

Unbelievable. 14 out of 16 runs of integration tests errors unexpectedly with no error message, port was already used (not released from last cycle) or timed-out in the before all hook. Well done whoever wrote this suite!

I finally managed to get my Wireguard setup to work in both ways! Beforehand I could ping from A to B, but not the other way around.
A network 10.1.0.0/16
B network 10.2.0.0/16
(both actually use multiple /24 subnets, but I reserve a /16 for each site for the sake of simplicity)
Lots of fiddling later this is my configuration:
A interface 10.1.199.1/32
A allowedIPs 10.2.0.0/16
B interface 10.2.199.1/32
B allowed IPs 10.1.0.0/16
ping from 10.1.1.1 to 10.2.1.1 => 172ms
ping from 10.2.1.1 to 10.1.1.1 => 172ms
it works, yay! now to add more sites...2 -
~16 hours. It was during the start of my career. Like every other project manager, mine had also made an unrealistic plan for the project I was on.
10/10 wouldn’t agree to work like that again. -
@dfox why do some of the older rants display the date on the rant but then the comments are older than the rant itself (for example, the rant say 22/09 - or 09/22 to you - and the comments say 16-09. But most of the comments I see say 16-09). What did you guys mess up 😛2

I started when I was about 7 years old. My dad was an entrepreneur and had a programmer working for him who was coding in the Commodore VIC20. That man gave me some books and since then I was hooked. Started my professional career when I was 16 (now 37), all self taught and got a very solid education as well throughout the years after 16 untill now. I just can't stop loving it.

What's the most paralelized end user application you came across? I mean not that obvious things like gimp or photoshop, maybe things you experienced are just more speedy because they actually use the 8 to 16 threads of a modern CPU in full?1

I got 21 files with conflicts while merging feature to develop.
16 files were just identation and space shit conflicts. WHY do you commit reformats that change tab characters with spaces or vice versa without changing any code??? STOP WASTING MY TIME3 -
Searched on various forums, everyone seems to have conflicting opinions.
If I want hibernation to work correctly on my laptop , do I need to allocate swap equal to RAM (some are also saying double 😥) I have 16 gigs of RAM, so allocating 32 gigs (or 16 gigs) swap seems like a waste of space. Will do only if absolutely necessary.
I am running manjaro KDE by the way7 -
I'm slightly annoyed that the 13" MBP does not have a 16:9 display because when I'm recording a game or a programming tutorial I have to crop or leave black bars... but I guess that's what I get for going with the 13" model.

Just setup an IPsec tunnel and route 192.168.50.0/24 to 192.168.0.0/16 over that tunnel on phase2. We will be able to see 192.168.50.6 machine from 192.168.0.0/16 remote subnet.
Do it.
Why we cannot send ICMP echo from local subnet machine to another machine in same subnet??? Also remote subnet hits only the BSD machine it does not go further. Whyy
I know I should have not done it but SDM and my manager insisted to do so... And now they expect me to fix time outs when remote subnet belongs to different company.7 -

"Id neets to be 16 Bytes long". Yeah, thanks. With Id, org, user, insurance Id?
Next time I gonna implement this bullshit in fucking assembly, so you can have your stupid 16 Bytes without any magic tricks.

I'm compiling an entire Android build from source. Even with 16 dedicated compilation threads, it's like watching paint dry.
It's nowhere near my early days taking over 24 hours to compile a Linux kernel... But it's still painful. -
Today my 16 yr old cousin asked
me...
"If the compiler knows that..
"semicolon is missing at line no 16
in Helloworld.java", then why it can't
simply put a';' there instead of
telling us..."
He got a point.3 -
Hey guys. Planning on getting a Dell Inspiron 13 7373 2 in 1 with i7/16 GB RAM config. Has anyone used it? Would you recommend it? My primary OS is Ubuntu and use it for Android development, js and php.3

Oh yeah ... Java is cool in an utterly sick way even that i can't seem to find a non-retarded built-in stack data structure
Call me a racist, but java.util.Stack has a removeIf() method in case you want to remove odd numbers:
import java.util.Stack;
public class App {
public static void main(String[] args) {
int arr[] = { 2, 4, 7, 11, 13, 16, 19 };
Stack<Integer> s = new Stack<Integer>();
for (int i = 0; i < arr.length; i++) {
s.push(arr[i]);
}
s.removeIf((n) -> (n % 2 == 1));
System.out.println(s); // [2, 4, 16]
}
}
Stop using java.util.Stack they said, a legacy class they said, instead i should use java.util.ArrayDeque, but frankly i can still keep up being racist (in a reversed manner):
import java.util.ArrayDeque;
import java.util.Deque;
public class App {
public static void main(String[] args) {
int arr[] = { 2, 4, 7, 11, 13, 16, 19 };
Deque<Integer> s = new ArrayDeque<Integer>();
for (int i = 0; i < arr.length; i++) {
s.push(arr[i]);
}
s.removeIf((n) -> (n % 2 == 1));
System.out.println(s); // [16, 4, 2]
}
}
The fact that you can iterate through java.util.Stack is amazing, but the ability to insert element in a specified index:
import java.util.Stack;
public class App {
public static void main(String[] args) {
int arr[] = { 2, 4, 7, 11, 13, 16, 19 };
Stack<Integer> s = new Stack<Integer>();
for (int i = 0; i < arr.length; i++) {
s.push(arr[i]);
}
s.add(2, 218);
System.out.println(s); // [2, 4, 218, 7, 11, 13, 16, 19]
}
}
That's what happens when you inherit java.util.Vector, which is only done a BRAIN OVEN person, a very brain oven even that it will revert to retarded
If you thought about using this type of bullshit in Java get yourself prepared to beat the disk for hours when you accidentally call java.util.Stack<T>.add(int index, T element) instead of java.util.Stack<T>.push(T element), you will probably end up breaking the disk or your hand, but not solving the issue

What do you mean " 'StyleProvider' cannot be used as a JSX component"? That was added 8 months ago. Did something change in React 16 (yup 16) in the last few days since I ran an npm i? Dammit? Now I have to go dig through commits and see what changed5
