Today (as a joke), I asked my class if there were any “professional HTML programmers” who could help me.
Surprisingly a couple people came over with smirks on their face. I thought they were going along with the joke.
Turns out, they were serious. They legitimately believed that they were professional HTML programmers and talked to me in such a condescending way that I was speechless.
“This is called a file. See that part after the dot? That’s what makes it HTML. HTML is an incredibly hard programming language and powers CPUs and the computer that you are using.”
I didn’t know how to respond. Hopefully they were joking.9 -

I quickly correct the formatting and fix the 3 open Tags That He forogt to Close. send it back to him and walk to his workplace to See him integrate it to his own code again. He Double clicks the HTML file an Google Chrome opens. He then looks at me and says and Where is the code. I say to him That he just opened the HTML file with his Browser. And He responds with yes but i wanted to See the code Not this.

When I am sitting in my school and writing a few lines of simple HTML code, people looks at my screen and more less shouting out loud "wow you are like a hacker or something? Who are you hacking and how do you do it and how did you learn it?". It happened a couple of times to me. Sometimes I just tell them it as it is and saying something like "it's simple HTML code" and a little explanation of what it is. Sometimes (depending who it is) I answer that it is a new kind of spyware I'm developing and if I'm lucky they believe in me and starts begging me for not hurting their computers.

I can forgive some weirdness in generated html, but it is when generated html is combined with some plugins, and then a starting html dev who doesn't know what he's doing sprinkles some extras on top that you get frankenstein creatures like this.

I see too many back-end rants against front-ends.
Should we talk about table layouts, malformed html, programatically generated spaghetti wrong markup, css absurd class naming, infinite div wrapping (div-itis), awful usability, poor legibility, terrible typography, wrong color palettes and user-unfriedly design? To name a few horrors i've seen so far.
Some people won't admit that their contempt against HTML and CSS being 'not real code' actually hides their inability or unwillingness to learn it. Or they need the feeling of superiority.11 -

Stupid HTML checkboxes! It's always annoyed me that you can't just set checked to true or false, but have to remove the property altogether to uncheck a checkbox. Better still would be if you'd only need to set the value to 1 or 0, and the checked or not would sort out automatically. Yes, there are frameworks to handle it, I know. But if checkboxes had been designed right from start, a framework or any sort of special cases would not be needed. You've got love HTML, but things like this make it ugly.6

So a friend of mine is starting to learn PHP and HTML and he tells me:
"I wrote some code in HTML but I can't run it through the browser"
I'm not brave enough to tell him you can't "run" HTML
But later, he told me "so now i'm writing PHP just to understand how it works, but don't want to install the program to run PHP"
How the fuck you gonna learn?

My colleague has spent 3 days writing a responsive menu that has 5 items in it with no nesting that needs to move to a sidebar on mobiles.
I think that should be maximum 30 lines html and max 40 lines css. Or at least around that sort of area.
He has 150 lines html, 200 lines css, and is not even finished yet. He also made 2 entirely different menus for different screen sizes instead of using media queries...
The reasoning from all my colleagues is that its because the menu needs to use css grid (it doesn't they just randomly decided we can't use flex, float or online).
Working with people that give reasons for their garbage code that literally makes no sense every day gives me a headache....6 -
You know what really grinds my gears? HTML.
Specifically the fact that browsers report no errors at all when it comes to HTML. They just try their best to render what they're given and if you get unexpected results? Fuck you.

I remember when clients would ask for "validated" html when 9/10 of the biggest sites didn't even validate. It was like these people did a little internet research and some listicle somewhere told them the "5 things you MUST have in a web developer" and even though they didn't have one fucking clue what it meant, hell, they just HAD to have it. I've been given an intern to help me with my work (lol it's not helping) and she knows almost nothing of web dev, not even what Nodejs is, I had to explain it and guide her step by step on how to install it on her laptop. On her CV it says she has JavaScript experience, but she cannot even put together a basic HTML page, she asked me what a div is. As far as I know, HTML, CSS and JS are pieces of the same pie and you cannot really work with JS unless you also work with HTML and CSS. I think she lied on her CV and I need to tell my manager.
My question is, is it normal to know JavaScript and not know much about HTML and CSS?10 -

I was talking to a friend, and they were arguing that HTML was in fact a programming language. Their main argument was that you needed HTML to make a website.
I told them you could use something like React, and they said it doesn't count since you're still writing was is basically HTML
As a result, I will be writing an entire and actually decent webapp in nothing but vanilla JavaScript to prove him wrong. Just a <head> section and a body that loads a JavaScript file

I really do like VSCode but it is still lacking some features that i find essential.

Does anyone know how to solve the 'Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token <' error? It's on the first line <!DOCTYPE html>, I've even tried deleting that line, but got the same error on <html>.
I've been looking for answers for a while now, and nothing works for me! I know as soon as I post this, I'll get the answer immediately tho.
All the other pages work fine, with no errors and no warnings, all the js/css/whatever files are called in the same file which is shared by all the pages (app.blade.php).
The only 404 errors I'm getting are from the images, but I've tried deleting the img paths and still get the same error. I'm also getting 404 on the images on app.blade.php but those are working fine on the other pages, so I don't think that's it.
The controller was basically copy/paste from another project. I've tried dd($product) and looks fine.
Long story, short: everything looks fine and I'm going crazy. Anyone know what it could be?12 -

With client side - angularjs and
server side - .net webapis working with sql db. The app has over 100 forms and works crazy fast in html form compared to the same form in an aspx. Should I leave it this way or do you guys see any problems with it. All forms are post and https enabled site. Open to constructive criticism and don't be a dick4 -

I wanna create a html page wich redirect us into a certain website and execute Javascript on the new website opened.
So i should use window.open i think, but how do i like execute js on this website after opened?7 -
I can't find a complete answer to this question, maybe this community has one:
Does putting an html file, with pure html code (without any php), as .php have any impact (or is processed differently) on the server load compared to simple .html?
Of course, if the content doesn't contain any php code to be processed it doesn't affect the performance, but the simple fact of declaring it as .php cause a different processing root on the server to output the same html result?
I'm aware that if there is any impact, not sure yet, tt's probably negligible, but I'm just curious about the backend root followed.
So, anyone know how exactly these two scenarios are handled (step by step) by the server?
1) Request of pure html as .html.
2) Request of pure html as .php.
My instinct says there must be an additional step in the second scenario to interpret and search for php code to execute.
There is? And does it have any calculatable impact, that multiples for X requests (ignoring caching) and depends of the length of the file?

When not even google can develop a HTML page so it displays correctly in Edge.... Seems Google needs to hire new web developers... Why should it be so hard to develop a HTML page with proper CSS?
