Started learning C++, coming from Python.
Just spent ~25 minutes searching for a problem - My code wasn't working like I expected.
Problem: Didn't compiled the program, kept running old code, didn't noticed8 -
Why did I choose to be a web dev?
I didn't. That's the first job I found, and I didn't wanna starve4 -
I DON'T FUCKING CARE IF WE'VE ALREADY DISCUSSED THIS, IT FUCKING CAME UP AGAIN DIDN'T IT?! SO WE CLEARLY DIDN'T NAIL IT THE FIRST FUCKING TIME.4

Eid Mubarak everyone. For those who are not familiar with Eid, we have two Eids in a year, this Eid is called Eid Al fitr, which is the celebration day after 30 days of fasting in Ramadan. In this day everyone celebrates by wearing new dresses and visiting their relatives and friends. Also kids get 'Eidiyah', which could an amount of money or candies.8

I HATE when a request for a change or a new feature comes like a bug feedback, as if it's your fault
"I clicked this, but this behavior that we didn't agree on didn't happen!! Fix it!"
😡4 -
Random profesional behavior reminder:
The fact that you're obviously from a minority doesn't automatically make you non-racist. Specially, it doesn't give you immunity for being racist towards other minorities.
Just saying! Be racist outside of office hours, if you can. Or just... Keep that shit to yourself. 💩40 -
I closed the lid of my laptop and went for a lunch. When I came back the damn machine wouldn't start and I realised I didn't push anything to github today so wish me luck recovering data from the drive.
(At least lunch was good.)6 -
Rubber duck didn't understand code. So decided to use the expert for Android.
Meet Little Buggy.
P. S. I have 2 more, makes a complete family! 😀4 -
Yesterday ... well no, today it was, I couldn't go to sleep because my brain couldn't stop thinking about solutions for this problem I had and I literally got up from bed and went to my computer to test my ideas. It still didn't work and eventually I got so tired that I went back to bed, I was still thinking about solutions when I fell asleep.12

I got selected for a dev job at a bank and I received a form on email to fill up and come with the hard copy to do the documentation etc.
HR girl: I can't understand what you wrote in the form.
Me: Yeah, I don't usually write things these days with a pen.
HR: So when was the last time you actually wrote anything.
Me: I think it was at a bank. I filled a form.
HR: Nice one!
Me: Oh!5 -
Dad called me over for "tech support". He'd bought a wireless mouse and keyboard and couldn't for the life of him get it working. The issue with my dad is that he never lets you touch the computer when he needs help. 20 minutes and 20 questions later, I finally ask if he plugged in the USB receiver. Answer? "It's wireless, it should just... work!"2

When you realise Stack Overflow has been down but in a whole day of coding you didn't notice it because you didn't need it :O3

Boss: <Commits odd and breaking changes to my specs>
Boss: How did these specs of yours ever pass!?
Boss: That's not how this gem works!
Boss: <Doesn't mention that the gem was updated well after I finished the ticket>
Boss: Go fix your specs!

It happened.
It finally fucking happend, I wish it didn't, but it happened.
I was in my very first call through zoom were I didn't even speak and didn't even really need to listen.
About 1h.
Everything could have been an e-mail, of course14 -
While reviewing some DB work, I asked why most of the tables in the database didn't have indexes (some didn't even have primary keys).
He answered: "Well I thought they really didn't neeeeeeed them?"3 -
A client tells me that the colors are all wrong on my screen, and offers the idea of calibrating it.

Another failed interview after I poured my heart and soul into an employers interview project. I Pulled all nighters. I worked so hard and really pushed myself this time. The interview went really well and I had a lot of positive feedback but I didn't get the job because they hired someone with more experience.Im am so passionate about becoming an Android Developer but it saddens me that I will never be able to get a job doing it because there are always people more experienced than me. I'm absolutely gutted. IV worked so hard to get this far. I'm about to give up. What's the fucking point.... Devistated.16

Time spent during a nodejs project:
- 2-4 hours trying to install modules and dependencies.
- 1 hour actual coding!1 -

In a programming exam, we had to write a program in 60 minutes, part of which was sorting some strings by length (strings the same length had to be in the same line)... I had like 3 minutes left, so i wrote this beauty:
boolean b = false;
for(int i = 0; i <= 999999; i++){
for(int j = 0; j <= strings.length; j++){
if(i == strings[j].length()){
System.out.print(s + " ");
b = true;
}
}
if(b){
System.out.println();
b = false;
}
}6 -
didn't anyone go for the "#define true false" joke? i didn't actually see it in action, but it would be a pretty harsh one.1

Thing that just occurred to me.
Write backend of website in Node with Mongo.
Write front end of website by using PHP to echo data from mongo and inline styles. PHP will also echo any inline JS that needs to make AJAX calls back to handle responsiveness.
Write a website with JS as its backend and PHP as its front end because the world has gone absolutely mad and you dgaf anymore.2 -
Ya know what I hate? People who always find an excuse to let people know about their problems or if they are vegan.
Every time I'm like, THANKS! DIDN'T ASK!4 -
I feel fucked, I feel fucked right up in the ass.
Remember that app I had to do to get the job? I found out the other candidates weren't even able to install Android Studio and that their deadline was postponed. And that they weren't able to complete the app.
I did everything with a really good design, solid programming, even added animations and made it so the recyclerview loads 15 items at a time while you scroll down smoothly. I. DID. EVERYTHING IN ONE DAY. I missed a good night of sleep.
I didn't get the job. They gave it to a fucker that was a web developer. I saw his app. It was really crappy (I'm not being petty or malicious, it was really bad from a dev point of view and a user point of view).
I feel. Disappointed. in this unfair world. And honestly I feel disappointed to the point that I don't even know if I should be a developer anymore. I feel betrayed by the hopes and the good feeling I got from the oportunity.8 -
When I signed up for the technical college and heard that we would have media tech classes, I was expecting frontend stuff like HTML, CSS and JS, not how to make folders and change the font in notepad. Fuck.1

So Malaysian government decided to say this in the press conference on Covid19 increased cases and quote "I didn't failed, is just I didn't get it to work."
And now my friend's brother who failed the exam try to convince his parent , by telling them "I didn't failed the exam , is just I didn't pass the exam ."
I genuinely think that Malaysian government is copying Joel Osteen.8 -
Be me
Work at software contracting company
Get a new client, iOS objective-c app with ~40000 lines of code
Previous Dev didn't leave a single comment, and he didn't use a database, he used 'NSUserDefaults' -
I'm in a situation here, I had an idea for an app and I started coding it. Since I'm a front end developer I find it not amusing to do the backend part. I then started to share the idea and such with good classmate (not a coder). I then made him join me on this adventure. After a lot of coding he said he wanted to contribute with something since I'm coding all day and he's not. Then we agreed freelancing the back end part.
Some time later we got a pretty good deal on some Indians doing the whole app. I thought to myself "this feels kinda good!" so we went on with the freelancer.
Days went to months and we finally got the app back. I did a mistake of paying him all the milestones without testing the app in its wholeness, later finding out that one part of the login system didn't work. That lead to a deeper debug to find out that the core function of the app was commented out.. I then wrote the freelancer back with minimal and slow response.
Now the deadline of the app is like in 2 months. If not we miss a whole year.
My classmate knows about this and he's the one who played for the freelancing. Now we have talked about me doing the whole backend myself.
The only issue I have now is that I feel like he's just sitting home doing nothing other than flashing money around and me busting my ass of writing code that I really am not good at. (basically learning more than coding)
But he played a lot of money for this.. So I feel kinda bad for him.
Rip life.15 -
Fun fact : Typing on a keyboard that's not plugged into your laptop will not work. Honestly, I should have taken today off. My toddler woke up at 1am screaming bloody murder and didn't get back to bed until 2:30. There's a construction crew hammering up my 14 year old floors to replace it with new ones. My dog is anxious as fuck with all the noise, and truthfully, I'm just staring into my screen hoping the code will write itself. This code will become production deployment logic, so it damn well better be excellent and bug-free. Not a good day to pick up this task.3

An update on my rant about that interview I had.
They emailed saying they're sorry I didn't pass etc.
My literal response was: wow. Shocker. No shit I didn't pass 😂 -
I dunno how you guys can drink all that coffee... And also have it actually work.
I bought a large from McD at lunch, drinking it throughout the afternoon but maybe a third left...
But I feel tired still and think I also have a slight headache/dizzy feeling...6 -
Lost all my Data, due to electricity loss. Lost about 1.8TB of data, didn't have backup as I didn't have any other media to backup to. :/4

Nah I'll quickly fix my arch installation, can't take that long...
- my brain at 12pm (about half an hour ago)
Plottwist: I didn't fuck up the whole system and it's booting again.
I didn't expect that myself -
Scheduled an interview with a company regarding a frontend position, everything seemed perfect until I actually got on my way to head to their office.
They didn't have the address of their office anywhere, it wasn't listed on google maps, their own website didn't have any information on where their office is.
I tried calling them / emailing but they didn't respond until like 5 hours after the interview should have taken place.
So I didn't even get to the testing part.4 -
We didn't mislead you on the role. We just didn't identify that these details would be important in your decision factors.2

I went to state competitions, had 9 compile errors in my code, said screw it I'm turning it in, didn't worry the rest of the day while having fun, didn't place, didn't care1

Didn't find a proper API to send chat messages to an MSTeams channel.
Didn't want to rely on third party tools.
Creates webhook endpoint, promptly creates my own API using JSON cards and requests to said endpoint.
Didn't know how why it worked but it did.2 -
Old boss that didn't understand anything on computers but expected me to wear 5 different hats and do tasks that we didn't have a structure for.
-
Simple reminder. The joke behind this is that he said everyone will forget about it soon. I have a recurrent appointment about it6

Using Resharper to change a var name:

Just typed this into the Python interpreter and my whole system just froze. Guess I have to do a force shutdown.
x = list(range(1, 999999999))
So is there a way you can somehow configure your linux system such that the window manager/system is never out of memory or processor time? So that atleast I get can atleast kill the process which is freezing the system.3 -
I guess they fixed it now but who else grew tired of Windows 10 repeatedly asking you to make Edge your default browser every few days after you've already told it NO for the nth time...5

Been to onsite interview at HolidayCheck.de, Munich for Scala dev position. Didn't get the promised 300EUR of the flight ticket back till now. Sent them 3 emails - they just didn't respond anymore. Not begging, shame on them - beware!

had this professor for Formal Methods and Logic who would show up clueless as fuck didn't use the internet to communicate any information. Didn't post notes or anything. Didn't have our quizzes pre-printed and showed up late to a class because he went into the GIANT by campus and was "lost like a monkey staring at shiny objects" (-his words not mine) Also guy didn't know how to teach and said everything was trivial when you would ask questions. He was an asshole and unfortunately tenured.

Typing a quick terminal command. Didn't work. Type it again. Didn't work. Look at your IDE. Goddammit!

It has been sometime since my last rant, but a Tester return a work item saying it did not work. I called him shared my screen went through the item he sent back multiple times without issue and followed what he said he could not do!! Within debug and a test release. I said "I'll send it back to be signed off" He said "Well it did not work for me so I'll be sending it back tomorrow!"1

Debugging my resume built with some simple js/jQuery functions
Took 30 minutes
Missing a comma and semicolon I didn't even remove

Does it ever irk you when a tech complains "I didn't know i needed to know this?" As though they didn't realize that IT kinda requires taking on new subjects all the time?1
