-Run three times, just to be sure
-Its NOT the code, must be the project. Full rebuild.
-Run a few more times after rebuild didn't fix it.
-Google the issue.
-Stackoverflow must be wrong. The code is JUST like their solution.
-Run a few more times, but with your lucky underpants
-Reboot. Must be an operating system thing.
-Tea break. Give the issue time and it will fix itself.
-Run a few more times. Still unfixed

"Oh no this platform is serverless"
I hate this "serverless" term.
How does a cloud platform run serverless?
HOW?!
"yeah but like we don't have to run updates and manage the underlying stuff and can thus deploy stuff serverless"
NO.
THERE ARE ACTUAL SERVERS RUNNING IN ORDER TO RUN THIS PLATFORM.
YOU CANT RUN THIS FUCKING PLATFORM WITHOUT ACTUAL SERVERS.
HOW WOULD IT RUN THEN, ON FUCKING STARDUST?!
IT. IS. NOT. SERVERLESS. AS. LONG. AS. SERVERS. ARE. INVOLVED. AT. SOME. LEVEL.73 -
Sometimes you run your code,
it doesn't work, so you run it again,
it works
Sometimes you open your fridge,
no food inside, so you close and open it again,
still no food inside12 -
I was working in a small startup with very cool people as a GameDev. One day I turned towards my colleague to tell him about a joke I just read and I saw flames coming out of his CPU. He was so focused on his work that he didn't notice.
I yelled "OH, SHIT' and quickly reached to the main switch and turned it off. Everyone turned towards me to yell at me, but then they saw the flames and everyone ran outside.
After few minutes the flames died. My colleague was in shock to lose his work as the HDD was completely burned.11 -

Standard Sunday evening I guess:
I wake up, satisfied that I already did all my tasks for this week and most of the tasks for next week.
5 minutes before I'm heading to bed I get a message from my boss saying he's disappointed that there is this one task I didn't finish yet, because he arranged a meeting with a customer about it tomorrow. Well, you know what you fuck, maybe, just maybe you should begin showing interest for your own company and actually use Jira to assign deadlines so people know wtf to prioritize. I'm so pissed off, I've been working for 4 hours straight this evening now, only to bang my head against the wall and realise I can't finish it since I have to buy a Windows 10 machine to test out some features. Fuck you! Maybe tell me next time you have a meeting about a certain thing. Yes, I could have spent more time throughout the week, and yes, you could learn to fucking communicate and show some care for your own company.
English is not my native language, so I can't really express how furious I am right now. And yes, he's genuinely mad at me.8 -

I've launched a small new project at https://2048.run

Use username/password "play" to play the game.

A client asked me if I had some software to make an .exe file run on Android.
So I replied with:
Yes, you need to run the RNN through a HM05 then cross-compile the output with a MOSFET.
You might run into an arduino javascript, but you can bypass that with an stackunderflow or XSS6 -
Past: Used to run Ubuntu in VMWare

I replaced a python/mysql daily process that takes 25 minutes to run with a perl/redis process that takes 1 minute to run, so it runs multiple times a day. Mgmt asks me to convert it to python/mysql, "...but keep the run time at one minute. That's great!"

In one of my teams there was this non-IT girl.
One morning, she asks out loud:
G - Can I run a Json?
Me - Wait! What are you trying to do?
G - I need to deploy my changes into the Dev server.
Suddently I realized what she meant.
Me- It's Jenkins! Not Json. :D1 -

Atlasssian Bitbucket has broken umlauts since version 8.0 ...
https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/...
Ladies and gentleman,
it's the year 2022.
In the internet, dat "Neuland" as Mama Merkel used to say, Atlassian managed to revert back to the good old times of ASCII.
Who needs proper multibyte charset support anyway?
Just display broken shit - as broken as the quality management of that misanthropic chum bucket company called Atlassian.
Oh and the last upgrade to Confluence broke, too.
Was just very needed because of an remote code execution.
Cause you know the usual deal. Oops zero exploit, let's make it public, telling our customers that in cloud their data is safe, otherwise they need to shut off their instances or pray that they have a WAF that can filter strings...
What broke you might ask?
Unique constraint in database, the migration wizard loved to add few extra rows, solution was to fry the rows while instance running, followed by immediate cache drop, otherwise fun started again.
I hate Atlassian.4 -
The fact that there's only two characters between "run this job every 10 minutes" and "run this job every hour on the tenth minute" was the fix for the particular problem i just spent 5 hours on :facepalm:8

Something I wrote in my "how not to run a company" notebook:
Getting told you've now replaced the CTO as the person people ask for support (literally, he was recieving no questions), but you're not experienced enough to be promoted to senior.
I replied by telling them I was interviewing elsewhere.
Made me laugh. Is it really that hard for management to get that they should invest in talent?6 -
Some of my co-workers are so fucking dumb. Their thought process....
Let's re-run tests that are currently failing over and over until it works

like bitch....fix it then run it! don't just run shit over and over to make yourself look busy.1 -

Run test
everything ok
Run again
everything ok
Run again
error
Run again
everything ok
*wtaf is happening?*
I googled for the cause of a "double callback" error and found out that supertest was throwing it when I was attaching a file to the API request. found no conclusive way to solve it, just that "supertest does it from time to time".
Trying to investigate further, I made a function to repeat the API request 5 times in a row. Everything passed. The run it again. Two failed. Again and everything passed.
this is bullshit

Don't quite get this.
There's some bug where u run sudo -u#-1 cmd, it lets you run it as root.
But then it says only if you have permission to do so.
Does that just mean "run sudo" or something else?
I'm thinking sudo -u#-1 /bin/bash would basically give anyone root?

Yesterday I tried to install virtualbox to be able to run gitlab-runner with a Docker executor locally. I completely fucked up. This is a group sin.
We'd get the code checked and then run it straight to live. No test environments no real back up in place or process for releasing.
Just run code in if it broke run fix 1 through 3 until you got it right. That was two years ago. -

It's the small things. Chronos task run syntax:
- P10M = 10 months
- PT10M = 10 minutes
And for some reason, lots of our task are defined to only run every 10 months, should be run every 10 minutes though.
Even weirder: Why do most of our tasks run daily? Either we have some cron job task firing curl requests at chronos rest api, or some poor content managers clicks a button daily. -

Run a gradle script with exec tasks that runs the same commands, and the binary doesn’t run complaining about a library.
