Dev: we need to upgrade our projects
Manager: we don't have time for that. can you call to their helpdesk, so we can keep using our projects w/o upgrading?
Manager: call them!
I really invested into this work from home lifestyle, moving in an appartment where i could have my own office, upgrading my personal workstation, leaving overpriced locations close to subways behind.. so i do hope it will remain like this for at least a few more years (or why not, even forever for dev roles)
It's way better than a shitty office placed in location equally incomfortable for everyone
Otherwise.. well, there is always the option to go freelancing from home3
Linux tip: if you're setting up a new computer w/ a fresh install of Linux or you got some new device you'd like to make Linux friends with, don't start by searching for drivers. Start with upgrading your kernel to the newest Mainline version you can. It's very likely it will bring your devices' support with it.
Damn I didn't think I'll like my P1 gen4 THIS much. Even better with a flavour of LMint!14
Alright after upgrading to Monterey, I literally can't open a single repo without Sourcetree crashing. Any alternatives? What do ya'll like as a git GUI?
inb4 "learn the commands" - I want to carefully separate files (or even hunks) by ticket number and can't be bothered to type all the commands out5
After upgrading to kubelet 1.24 kubernetes won't even start. Complains about an unrecognized flag "--network-plugin=cni". And stackoverflow has nothing to offer to work around it.
God I hate backwards-incompatible software updates. Esp w/o vendor's scripts automatically porting old version configs to match the new configuration convention.
Now I have to learn all about something big, called dockershim.
Fuck! I so don't want to spend my whole day on this...
It's not very linuxish to push breaking updates w/o any bpo mechanism, esp for a software that's a part of the linux foundation :|15
How is your experience with upgrading from Debian 8 to Debian 9? Want to update my homeserver but I really don't want to screw it up. Especially with the switch from MySQL to MariaDB1
Following my last post, just looked up the Win 11 features....
Yawn.... Feels like more trouble upgrading than staying on 10.
