Looks like Apple is the new Microsoft and Microsoft is the new Apple...
I remember when every release of Windows was a catastrophic mess and you had to wait until at least SP2 to get the OS to work in a stable way. And Internet Exploder was *the* browser that broke everything, every time. And there was the whole embrace/extend thing, where they tried to impose their vision of web standards and compatibility, and *everything* you used *had* to come from Microsoft...
And now, it's Apple who fuck up every single OS release, on mobile and desktop, and whose browsers openly shit on web standards (ever try developing anything for Mobile Safari?). Apple's stuff that only works with Apple stuff (down to things like headphone jacks - OOPS, forgot, they dropped those now).
Microsoft is making interesting, beautiful hardware (Surface machines) while Apple is pushing un-innovative, overpriced garbage year in year out. And they're open-sourcing more and more, while Apple walls itself further and further behind its walled "garden". Bleh.
Be interesting to see in 10 years what will have shifted, because it'll change again by then.15 -

I'm not saying everyone that uses Apple is stupid, but I've heard so many fucking people say "Android is awful because it doesn't have iMessage." Today I noticed that my first name on my Apple Developer Account was totally wrong, even though the name on my Apple ID account was correct. Trying to fix the wrong name sent me to the Apple ID Account page with the already correct name. I contacted support.
It turns out the developer accounts pull info from your Apple ID at creation time, AND NEVER AGAIN. WTF? So you can not make changes to your dev account, because they are non-updateable..
The fix? Sending a copy of a photo ID to the supporter BY FAX?!?!? This is Apple we are talking about.. in 2017.. I don't know anything anymore -

At first glance, it's obvious that Apple sucks more. Their overpriced products are so bad that they rely heavily on vendor lock-in and cult-like brainwashing.
Then again, Apple's vendor lock-in also acts as buyer lock-out so that it's easy to avoid Apple. Basically, Apple sucking more also means they suck less. Think different indeed.
Microsoft on the other hand sucks more because their crap is so ubiquitous that it's difficult to avoid Microsoft.
That looks like a draw - but here's the tie breaker: Microsoft tries to ape Apple, BUT! Microsoft even sucks at copying Apple's suck.

Just found out why people don't use windows. It's because they think it does not work.
In my school we have apple TV's in every room and we use airplay to cast to the projector. And because apple are fucktards and hate cross platform anything they make it impossible for windows machines to connects reliabily. So now if a teacher has a windows computer they can't connect so they think it's windows fault but it is actually fucking apple. This is what pisses me off about apple so much.10 -

Apple is now forcing 2 factor authentication for publishing apps on the App Store. Except not just regular 2 factor, 2 factor via AppleId. Which means you have to have the AppleID on 2 different Apple devices! You now have to have a Mac and another Apple device to ship an app and you still have to pay $100/yr for the license.
Hell I usually like Apple stuff but this has gone so fucking far off the rails.8 -

AS: "Sure, you can try. You might need the death certificate. The family or the coroner will have a copy."
Me: "What!? Apple requires a death certificate to unlock a phone!? I'm pretty sure not even the family is going to give a total stranger a death certificate"
AS: "Sorry sir, I'm just reading what is in front of me. Without that certificate, there is no way to prove the person died. You can try the Apple store, but they will likely require it."

On iOS 11, Apple is no longer allowing you to open apps that are 32 bit. Apple should have given all the developers with 32-bit apps free access to the developer program rather than forcing them to pay a $99 fee to publish a 64-bit version of their app.
This would’ve made better business sense for them as publishers would have had an opportunity to create new apps and see more revenue coming in from upgraded apps. Ultimately more money for Apple. Not sure what dumb fool at Apple HQ thought this was a good idea.6 -

Updated to iOS 12.1.2 (sleazy release 2) after previously getting fucked up the ass by iOS 12.1.2 first release. Yes boys and girls, they tried to cover up their latest fuckup by re-releasing the same release with a modification.
The first time I updated, it knocks my Apple ID out on all my Apple devices when I upgrade my iPhone to 12.1.2. Mother fuckers... gotta log back in for every device, iPads, iPhones, Apple TVs, Macs. And for each service iTunes Store, Messages, FaceTime on each device supporting. Oh yea, it knocks out my Wi-Fi calling and I have to reestablish that too. Then to really ice me, it knocks out my HomeKit system as the Apple ID is knocked out on the Apple TV.
Now after updating just my iPhone to the second 12.1.2 "sleaze release", the thing knocks all my devices out again.
Apple has taken away that which I loved; impeccable engineering and design that could be used as the model for an entire industry. The industry guru. (teacher, leader) Apple has become the new Microsoft.

Apple just told me to get a new Mac to allow me to upload apps to the store by setting their minimum Xcode version to 15 which my Mac currently does not support. This version was released less than six months ago if I'm not mistaken, and now I have to head to the bank tomorrow because Apple.

When Apple Computers started up they were sent a "cease and desist" notice by Apple Music (The Beatles).
They reached a settlement that Apple Computers would never publish music and Apple Music would never sell computers.
So when the Mac came out and played a tune on startup, the filename was sosumi.
Wikipedia now appears to dispute this, saying that sosumi wasn't the startup sound, but some other sound - any Mac experts care to comment?1 -

I have a weird problem ...
There’s an existing swift app, with Apple sign in implemented and working.
When I took over I had to revoke app certificates and create new one. Since then the Apple sign in stopped working.
I’ve tried clean rebuild etc , even tried renewing old profiles with the new cert but nothing is working.
When u do Apple sign in it says “sign up not completed” with no error msg.
Old dev says it happened last time when cert/profile was changed but fixed on proper rebuild. Not fixing for me.

I honestly have to say that nowadays, the only company I trust with my information is Apple. If I ever get a voice controlled speaker at home it'll definitely be from Apple.4

3D Touch by Apple was one of the most amazing thing ever but as always, Apple managed to make it useless. How? Keep what 3D Touch does same as long press. Stupid!!
Why didn’t Apple keep use of 3D Touch different? Like maybe long press (Haptic touch) for Haptic Touch menu and 3D Touch for quick copy or paste the text. 3D Touch some word instead of selecting and waiting for copy button to come and 3D Touch the textbox to paste. But noooooo they will keep it exactly same as what every other thing does and call it useless and remove it.6 -

I opened apple tv app and I see I can’t watch it right now because it’s in cinema but I can rent it.

I'm an Apple guy, and I need an upgrade as my workstation became more and more stationary in the last few years.

Anyone had this dilemma recently? What route did you take, and do you regret it?
[I know Apple is evil at times (aren't we all?), and no I'm not moving to this or that OS/distro, all my licensed (and paid for) software and workflows are OSX-based at this point]20 -
Is Apple alone who owns the rights to its systems? Or do users also own the system when they buy the iPhone? What I know is that users have a USER ONLY license, a non-private, limited and revocable license by Apple. And if what I think is true and that Apple owns its systems, then it is a private right for it, isn't that true?. So why are governments such as the governments of the European Union trying to impose laws on Apple and try to impose changes on Apple's systems even though the systems are private and not public or open source? Is this not considered an attack on private property? I don't know, I just want to get your opinion on the matter more..
What I know is that there are options other than Apple's own systems!!. Therefore, if you want to change, take Android instead of forcing Apple to change what Apple does not want to change.9 -
