My easter weekend so far:
- Fix stuff
- break stuff
- call broken stuff an easter egg
- watch anime22 -
⚪Present yourself properly
⚪Have a basic idea about the company and the role you're applying for
⚪Be respectful and pleasant to everyone when you go to an interview
⚪Day before the interview, go over the interview in your head and prepare as much as you can ( this way you'll be more comfortable in the actual interview )
⚪Figure out and prepare your "Strength and weakness" answers
⚪Don't lie on your resume or in the interviews, if you don't know something, simply say "I'm sorry i don't have experience with that”
⚪Being nervous is ok, but try to relax and answer the questions correctly and clearly
⚪Don't give up and join something that's not worth investing your time5 -
Things I learned this week so far:
Programmers consider talking to a rubber duck a totally normal thing4 -
I graduated 3 months ago from computer engineering, landed a job far far away from home. Moved. I wake up every morning wondering if it was the right call. Seems like I am growing up.7
-
Everytime I think I've come so far, I realise how far I still have to go and how much I have to learn.7
-
a fuckin router that sits 0.4 METERS NEXT TO ME of FULL signal doesn't work at all on my phone so i have to switch to 4G network which fetches network far far away from the satellite which is placed IN THE FUCKIN COSMOS OUTSIDE OF THIS PLANET..... AND THAT FUCKING WORKS......9

Someone reached out to me with appreciation for my comment:
// " What a mess. Why would anyone ever do this?" you ask yourself. I'm glad you asked! Long long ago in a hot fix far far away... -
Craziest and most mind blowing CS project, I've seen so far. What's yours?
https://github.com/mame/quine-relay1 -
I was messing with my Ubuntu setup, and somehow, I broke it
Since I didn't have a recent backup, I decided to switch to Manjaro
I'm in love16 -
It's finally happened. I've let me favourite Spotify playlist grow to 140 songs. Far too big now. Stressful :|3

Using z-index 99999999999.
Are you fucking serious... please go somewhere far far away from me and cut your hands off so I don't have to deal with this shit.3 -
It's 2017 and every keyboard on Earth still has vertically unaligned keys !
And if you think it's for ergonomic reason, you're wrong ! It's just something we inherited from goddamn typewriters.
It's time to let that go !
Far far away in the past.
Right next to floppy disks, MySpace and Nicolas Cage !6 -
What the tickets I receive daily are like... -
“You’ve got to be kidding me. I’ve been further even more decided to use even go need to do look more as anyone can. Can you really be far even as decided half as much to use go wish for that? My guess is that when one really been far even as decided once to use even go want, it is then that he has really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like. It’s just common sense.”2 -
I'm sensing bullshit from far..... Shitty Apple will introduce 'iRant' very soon..... which works in 3D touch ..meh!2
-
It all started when I commited my server password without noticing...
TL;DR: Reinstalled the server, delete + recreated the git repository 😢8 -
Anyone else feel this 50/50 male/female work melarky is just silly. Most programmers are men. It shouldn't be more complex then that. Most beautitions are women. Nothing wrong with work being gender dominated... imo20
-
I hope I'm not alone getting the warm fuzzy feeling you get when you write some code that is beautiful. I know beautiful is a strange choice of words but I find the efficient simplicity of good code to be beautiful!
-
Somebody asked me if I could make a little windows program that can download and save streams from a camgirl (porn) site (he would pay me for it in Bitcoin)...
This is by far one of the weirdest client requests I've gotten so far...13 -
Interesting coincidence. I have stared at this shower curtain far too long.. I MUST KNOW ITS SECRETS.1
-
when you're on the cusp of finishing a feature that took 3wks up to this point to develop, and then your manager pulls you off of it
😓😓😓2 -
Started to learn java! Loving it so far.. Coming from Python 3 i thought this was not gonna be easy but so far so good.. Can someone give me some advice or tips on what to tackle next after java?17

anytime someone has a request and tells you how long it should take... run far far away!
"can you do this? should only take like an hour"2 -
Next motherfucker named Chad that sends me an email with a RE: subject line for recruiting is going to be thrown from a helicopter screaming.
If your name is Chad that's okay, we know you didn't choose your name, but if you're a recruiter named Chad and you are trying to slide into my emails, get fucked.2 -
Cold Turkey is the best distraction blocker I have used so far for Windows and macOS.

This is the 3rd weekend so far since I decided I wanted to write a blog post. I didn't write a single character so far! God!2

Ok so I keep obsessing over RE2 because the game is just so fucking cool. But one thing that I want to make notice for us computer nerds:
In the police station, when you see the computers there that are on, you see a very 90's interface, and of course you will, the game takes place in 1998.
When you are at the Umbrella NEST facility, there are computers there, the interface looks TODAY modern. Meaning that(and I know we all fans of the games knew this already) Umbrella's tech is far beyond what common civilian entities have. I know this is done intentionally and I know people are aware of it, but I just think that it is a really really REALLY cool element to the story to have something like this.
On another note, I want to get excited about Kingdom Hearts 3. But fuck this it has been so long and I had already forgotten everything about 1 and 2 and I am not really a fan of the series anymore. A friend is coming over to play it, I just wish I was more hyped for it.5 -
Unpopular opinion: every mobile developer should use Flutter. It's the best thing out there by far.18
-
When your phone battery drops randomly from 50% to 16% im 1p minutes... Like your phone feels when you're far far away from your charger and and you're not gonna be able to charge in 2-3 hours1

@dfox
Awesome devrant podcasts.
Seriously, if you enjoy devrant you will be really impressed with the two they have done so far.
Surprised at the five star guests they have gotten so far.
Just need to net Uncle Bob. -

Ted passes gas in a meeting. Manager: You have gone to far Ted!
I have named my oven Michael Jackson. It takes far to long to pre-hee-heat!2 -
So far, I'm not a fan of Ubuntu touch on the pinephone. I think ill plan on switching to PostmarketOS this weekend. It looks more bare bones from what I've seen (admittedly not very much so far) but looks like it's for more features working. UBports has a ways to go yet.4
-
Anything of the form "write a <complex data structure>". To be expected to do that from memory is ridiculous. It's far far far more important to understand the data structure and be able to explain how it works.
-
Best choice: not going into game development. Bad payment for horrible working conditions.
Worst choice: telling numbers as first party in the interview process for every job I had so far. Made me earn far under my market value.4 -
Deadline!
Ok...monday is the deadline...
I have to go with web & mobile development....and i'm not far.....really not far . . Ive nothing..1 -
Anyone here tried dotnet Blazor yet? seems interesting thus far. I have been toying with it for a good portion of the day and I've got to say that thus far I like what I see.4
-
Question: what do you think of Flutter? Ever tried it? It sounds good so far, although it has limmited support (as far as I can tell)3
-
I started studing C#(I already studied some languages some C or Python), I never used it because of .NET platform(I hate Microsoft), so in those days I started studing it with Mono.
C# is far better than Java.
So I started a simple project and pushed it on GitHub,
it is a simple logger.

Back on Android after 3 and a half miserable years on iPhone. I haven't cursed this thing once primarily because the typing experience is immediately far far far far more pleasant.
Oh, and if you do decide to switch, which I recommend, be ready not to receive texts from iPhone users for about 24 hours after you perform the deregistration ceremony. That is a level of evil I wasn't expecting and truly should be illegal.5 -
Working on terraform and ansible for provisioning and config management. The experience so far was "Terrible".
-
Carpel Tunnel has actually made me a far better programmer.
While I've had to cut down on how much I program, I have instead started writing the first draft of any program on the whiteboard and manually debugging it.
Also got my dream internship because it made me far better at coding interviews!1 -
Why did I wait so long before ever using Xfce?! By far my favourite desktop environment so far, I love all the customization!1
-

I've been thinking of completing my home automation side project.
But so far, all I've done is write code :(2 -
my 4th gen. amazon kindle has been one of my favorite work buddies so far. i spend most of my midday breaks with it, kept me pretty good company so far.1
-
Recently I switched to Linux, and so far I'm loving it.
I am on Pop_OS! and it's working great for me so far. The package manager and actually good appstore is definitely a pro over Windows, and I really like the customizability.8 -
Help me out a bit, functional programming fans!
I'm experimenting with functional programming through JavaScript.
I created some dummy data to experiment with and created a simple function to query the data. I would like to get all elements, whose type attribute is not 'x'. A simple solution can be seen under the 'original code' part.
Under the 'fully functional code' part I gathered some frequently used general purpose functions, which I assembled into the function composition at line 45.
I'm having a bad taste in my mouth and feel that I've gone too far. I basically replaced every language element for a function. Is this the goal of functional programming? Is this how a perfectly functional code should look like?1 -
When you discover the "branching strategy" is not far off copying the working directory as a backup -_-
-
That the equivalence of sets isn't a relation is the dumbest aspect of mathematics I've encountered so far.

When your program is far enough along that it compiles, it runs, and you feel like it's getting somewhere, but it's not far enough along that you can properly test it yet.
