Best experience: starting uni, finally wanting to study and teachers who (mostly) understand their subject
Worst experience: starting uni, teachers who don't understand their subject or refuse to explain why something is used.
I might be in a love-hate relation with my uni.3 -

Any tips on how to get over starting troubles?7 -
I think I'm starting to lose sanity.
I'm unconsciously desiring to have bugs just so I can have some feeling of accomplishment fixing them.

Being 46 and finally having the chance to focus on software development after years of BA/PM roles, flogging the market trying to get a junior gig, then one day painting a shed with my 16 year old who I introduced to programming about 6 months ago and listen to him speak at length on protocol programming, finer variances between python and swift and his own development of a text based RPG system where he is creating randomized map generation, gear customization etc. only to realize as paint glides down my arm:
" I'M FREEKIN' OLD!!!!"
When did my brain stop absorbing like a sponge and behave more like a brick?1 -

Starting a new job on Thursday after 2 years as software engineer at a different company. I feel like a know no transferable (language) skills; I was mostly "the expert" of the framework at the previous company and now feel like I'm starting from scratch.
How do you handle starting a new position? Do you prepare yourself or just go and see? Am I overthinking?4 -
As someone who has just finished a foundation degree in computer science, I'm really wanting to get 'my foot in the door' with the IT industry to start building my career that I'm so passionate about, but I just don't know where to start. I started learning how to draw pixel art.
I bought aseprite and will be drawing some 16x16 pixels.
Do you know any useful guides ?
What I’m interested is character drawing and animation.
Drawing objects and nature like trees, boxes and stuff.
General techniques.
I already found some useful stuff about tile sets.
Once I finish drawing couple hundred of tilesets I want to proceed to more complicated stuff.2 -

For me it wasnt actually writing good code, it was more about finding out WHERE to write it, in this clusterfuck of shared projects inside projects.1 -
Everyone starting their own streaming services.
some companies are starting Cloud Gaming platforms.
It not gonna be too long before we have software streaming services.

Don't just think starting salary - think about your income over the course of your working life.
Your starting salary might be high - but it might mean that your ceiling after that is quite low. If you reach your ceiling too soon, you'll have to retrain to get more dough.
Retraining is starting again and might not jive very well with a partner and children in tow.3 -

Artsy friend asked me to make a program to auto add images from folder and layout in refBoard.
Spend time figuring out how the author scales images and setting the XML up. Post wip online and someone asked why not use pureRef... Does all that stuff and more built in...
Thankfully only spent a few hours on it heh... -

It failed to compile.
After a exhaustive investigation, I found the huge differences between VB6 and VB.net.
