Not a rant....
I received an email today from a client that reads "I'm so anxious to pay you. This is the best money I've spent on my website."
🤘🤘🤘7 -
the best way to learn programming is not by just reading books and coding basic examples. it is to take up a project which seems impossible and start doing it piece by piece, with the help of Google and stack overflow14
-
So just saw this course online the logo and title are two different languages not the best first impression14

This guy is the best coworker ever. He analyzes my algorithms, advises me when to eat or take breaks, and reminds me not to take life too seriously. He's pretty helpful with debugging too.11

My wife = Best wife
Her: Is that the motherboard and CPU you wanted?
Me: Yes, you get alot of power for the money (Ryzen 7 1800)

Living my best life, not too far from my computer, in the shade, with coffee 😁✌️hope you're all having a great day28

The moment when you have to cancel your day's plans on a Sunday of not going out for the "totally not a demand" style of asking to visit an aunt that you really don't like being around because of her habitual "all your choices suck and you must do as I please" attitude -_- Dysfunctional family at its best.

Not a developer, but I married one <3 best part is, I get to learn devs stuff so that I can be the smarty-pants at work...2
-
Being told I’m not experienced enough to get a senior dev job I interviewed for.
Even though I aced the first 4 interview rounds, the tech test feedback was “the best solution they had ever seen”, and I’ve been a senior dev for 25 years.
Time wasting assholes.3 -
Got this today 😍 It's not in the best condition, but meh, got it for free with a charger and everything.25

Woman: IF you could make all the people in this forum brawl, I would go with you tonight.
Man: (Type) PHP is the best language all over the world!
The whole forum goes into brawl...
Women: You got me. I shall go with you. Do whatever you want. Let's go.
Man: Hold! Not today! I must convince them all!joke/meme very looooooooooooooooooong i suppose joke hey how long can this tag be? php wow a new guy7 -
Whenever I feel bad, I go and help random people with their code.
I also randomly offer to help teach people Java so that they can learn best practice and perhaps not make the same small mistakes.
Such is life. My method of coping with sadness.9 -
Devs who argue that their favourite language is the best and other are not good enough for anything. Different tools for different jobs dammit!4
-
Best part of being a dev :
You get to live the stereotype. "She doesn't talk much, she is always on her laptop - coding, always has headphones on. Too much of a geek. Let's not invite her to a party. "
No awkward "Uh , I cant come. " Yay! B-)2 -
So I have officially achieved one of my childhood dreams and built my own PC, took me a while to save up enough to to afford it and yes it's not the best but it's mine and I love it :)12
-
Everyone's asleep.
I'm not tired, and coding sounds like the best thing ever right now. Figured out a solution to that blocking architecture issue, too. So: headphones on, blare Amon Amarth and Disturbed, bring up editor. It's time to work on that side project!
Best night in months.7 -
I was fired from a job where the boss had it in for me. He was a really experienced dev, but he was also very arrogant. He hated me questioning him. I didn't have the evidence nor the "political" clout to back up my criticisms.
It was humbling.
I realised two things:
keeping your mouth shut is often the best approach.
And
my own arrogance was keeping me from getting better, from learning new things. Not just for the company, but for myself.
I want to write better code, make better design decisions, utilise design patterns, actually think about what I'm doing, and be able to justify why I'm doing it.
I want to be able to choose the best tools for the job, not the best tools for me.
I want to be a person that is open to criticisms and I want to be someone who is always ready to learn new things.9 -
Best part of being a dev ?
You don't need college degree.
You will never get bored even if you are alone.
You can learn everything yourself, online.
Last but not the least, Being the dev is awesome in itself. :)5 -
Best App Review ever:
"Awesome app but please remove the ads, then i will give you 5 Stars"
So basicly you are saying the developers should not make any money of the app they spend multiple hours making? Well lets remove the ads then i guess 😤😤12 -
What's the best thing to do the day before your deadline you ask?
Personally I've found discovering you've done the whole thing wrong is not the best idea... -
My favorite IT story (not mine) is that the server needed to be rebooted whenever it froze completely. The best solution? Get an old PC that had a CD drive, and every time it loses connection to the server, eject the CD tray which had a poking stick attached that hits the reset button.3

Playing cool with people who
- Do the same mistakes repeatedly
- Do not think through use cases and blabber out the first thing that comes to their heads
- Are always downplaying the effort others put into their work
- Do not know when to have a discussion
- Do not take responsibility for their mess
- Are rude to newbies who are trying their best
- Are mean to the minimum wage workers1 -
hate it when Linux users talk like they own the cyber world.. linux is bla bla windows is shit shit..
I am not a linux fan, nor a Windows fan. just I use what is the best for the requirements21 -
Update on my rant from yesterday where I mailed my hosting admin that I got blocked.
I am not offended
Check out the whole conversation. Its by far the best converstation over mail.18 -
It's hilarious how people complain about exiting Vim being too hard and then being proud of themselves.
Guys.. Not being able to exit a 30 year old text editor doesn't paint the best picture about your intelligence.13 -
Fuck recruiters! I told them i want to work in a bigger company and my JS are not the best.
I just drove a freaking hour to a company who wants a diehard JS'er and exists of 4! People.
Assholes!7 -
Dear client / customer
You have been misled. The customer is not always right. The sooner you realise this and start listening to us as the consultants you hired the better things are going to get. If you were experts in how to do this stuff you wouldn't need us. Please recognise the skills.
Best regards
The design & development community3 -
The best is to not even start it.
It is harder to stop, once you're doing it.
Like drugs, don't do drugs, kids.7 -
I have to start my best moment last year with a confession: I moved from Dev to Test half a decade ago. Naturally I do a lot of automation. My Best moment was when Dev said my automation code is so well structured that he wants to work on that and not an the production code anymore. Gave me that warm "still got it" feeling 😊2
-
When you're not funny nor miserable enough to post a good rant but you're still trying your best to get more ++ so you can get free stickers but the requirements keeps ++
I need to up my game :(4 -
I saw an article about the best open source text editors today. I was expecting to see atom, vs code etc. Well no, the author says "sublime text. It's not exactly open source or even freeware software, but there are lots of open source plugins for it."
Well why in world would you title the article best open source editors?? Why not call it what it is: "my lovefest for sublime text and some plugins." You could post it on your stupid blog with 1 reader per month where I would never find it and waste my time on it.9 -
Although not the best setup I've seen on Devrant, let's say this is a designer's/software engineer's dream come true :)
27" iMac + 2 27" thunderbolt displays10 -
Opening somebody else's code(11000+ lines in 2 js files) only to find a 100+ "var a" declarations and naming conventions like var chart1, var chart2. Best part? Not a single comment. Even better? The one who wrote the code doesn't remember what does what.3

Just remembered the project back in my bachelor CS classes. The Prof was so utterly busy that he did not even read my thesis which he had to grade. I once sent him a 2mb bulk from /dev/rand which I piped into 'documentation.pdf' and got an A.
Sometimes the worst professors are the best :D2 -
Best fuck QA ticket. "Images are not loading good." No page. No more info.
What am I suppose to do? Test the whole fucking site.12 -
As a developer, you are working with colourful text, strange syntax, alot of math, and all the time you know that you are not the best yet!

Some say DC is the best, Some say Marvel is the best,

The robotics proffessor has offered me :
1- joining uni's robotics team
2- joining the startup team

I have the best reason not to leave my "office-chair"...
More comfort and colleagues bringing me coffee😎☕️
I get great support from my coworkers and friends! Thank you!!!5 -
OH FOR HEAVENS SAKE!!!
*I* take care of my food in the department fridge, *NOT* you!
And start to fucking realize:
IT IS CALLED: "Best Before End"
and ABSOLUTELY FUCKING NOT: "Guaranteed To Be Deadly From"
Next time you throw away my perfectly fine food, I'll dig into the reflog, throw a dice and throw away 3 random commits of yours claiming that THEY EXPIRED!
YOU ARSE!5 -
My coworkers are all working remotely because they're hungover, and all shocked I'm in the office today.
You think a night of drinking and 4 hours of sleep is enough to hold me down? Please. If I'm hungover enough to not go to work it means I'm probably in the hospital lol.
That being said, I have discovered that scotch does not agree with my stomach, so I'm not having the best time. At least I'm here though!9 -
Best mentoring advice I've gotten:
In your career you'll meet three kinds of people.
1) Nice people
2) Indifferent people
3) Not nice people
Treat them all in the same way. That's professionalism. -
I don't think I could give the best advice on this since I don't follow all the best practices (lack of knowledge, mostly) but fuck it;
- learn how to use search engines. And no, not specifically Google because I don't want to drag kids into the use of mass surveillance networks and I neither want to promote them (even if they already use it).
- try not to give up too easily. This is one I'm still profiting from (I'm a stubborn motherfucker)
- start with open source technologies. Not just "because open source" but because open source, in general, gives one the ability to hack around and explore and learn more!
- Try to program securely and with privacy in mind (the less data you save, the less can be abused, compromised, leaked, etc)
- don't be afraid to ask questions
-enjoy it!7 -
I guess the best feature of devRant is that the homepage, where we see all the rants, does not show who posted each rant. It just shows the rants. That's it. Great to see the app is "rant centric" and not "user centric".3

The best thing about having COBOL in my last internship is not that it opens you a lot of new job opportunities, is the look of fear and respect of your coworkers when you say that you learned it.1

me: "why? it is a 3 line logging function. why not pass the logger instance?"
peer: "because that is our best practice. It is the way we do things"
me: "why is it a best practice?"
peer: "because it is. We use it everywhere!"
me: "No we don't. And I still don't understand why is this a best practice. can you explain?"
peer: gives ups, did not look at the mr, and was not going to.

Not entirely dev related but the year that the mass surveillance companies go away (Google, Facebook (and WhatsApp, Instagram etc), Microsoft and a few others), I'll call that the best fucking year ever.

Lessons from this picture:
1. Not all opportunities are to be taken. Some are traps.
2. A person can become so determined to destroy another person that they become blind and end up destroying themselves.
3. You fight best in your natural element and environment. Here the bird has advatange in his natural element.
4. Know your limits, we all have them.
5. Sometimes the best response to provocation is not to fight.
6. Sometimes to accomplish something you need team work, you will not always win alone.
7. Stick to what you do best and don't pursue what will kill you.

I do think C# is the best language going. It's basically got everything, and VS is, weirdly for a Microsoft product, among the best IDEs. You get to thinking that it's actually harder to write unorganised code than not with it: it becomes difficult to imagine writing messy, repetitive or spaghetti code in C#.
Then you use Unity.24 -
Soft rant...
So I'm working at the company for 8 months now. Best 8 months in my career, great team mates, great work, the best - a team leader who is one of the best developers I've ever worked with, but more importantly he is a good friend, brother like. We had great time, from the interview we understood there is a bro-mance there.
So why am I ranting? He got promoted and became a group leader, not even of my group. Now we don't have a TL and we're afraid they won't be able to get a swell guy like our exTL2 -

1)Don't overestimate your abilities. H1Z1 killer is probably too complicated project for starters.
2)Choose proper tools. Yes Notepad++ is not the best free code editor.1 -

30hr non stop programming during university. Self proclaimed "best programmer" did not have shit the day before the deadline while he said he was done 2 weeks before that.
He also proclaimed being the "best leader" and kept trying to take that role from the one we decided on before he joined the group.
He also proclaimed amd lied about making all the documentation to save his own ass and trowing us under the bus while we did not even mention saving his ass.
And much more.
My blood still starts to boil when i see the guy. -

Comment on a code review:
How does this relate to the task?
Me:
Most of the changes have nothing to do with the task, but half of the code & build system was either wrong, broken or not following best practices. This particular change is because something was broken.3 -

Just because it's popular, doesn't mean it's good.
An overengineered solution can usually be simplified without breaking anything important. An oversimplified solution can rarely be upgraded without major breaking changes.
Not everything needs to follow the "best practices" - if it's not a part of the core functionality, diminishing returns often kick in quite fast.2 -

To the managers and new developers.
Development, and Product Development is not a black-and-white game.
It is an entire spectrum. You cannot move to the next best version. Next best feature, or the next best app.
The only jump that you take is getting started. After that it is a walk across the entire spectrum. Things grow slowly, and steadily. Just keep an eye on the next improvement.
Study the analytics, improvise, focus your energies, and just move to the next shade.
Enough steps, and you will have what you want.
It requires planning, courage, determination, tactics, sticking together ,and above all patience.
Most importantly, get rid of the people who cannot think long, rush, and mess things up.1 -

So as my recent rants might have conveyed, my job has been pretty shitty lately. So as we do I started looking around for other openings. Not that I would take them right away, but I want to know. This led to a realization that I'm literally at the best paying, top rated, firm doing the best work in nearly a nearly 100 mile radius of my home. There's a few government jobs that want top secret and 10 years experience, but for anything less than that my current position is literally the best. This is not what I expected the top to be like. And the fact that it took me over a year to realize that I'm actually at the top and have been is super weird.
Thing is I don't know what I expected the top to be like nor did I expect to be here so quickly after finishing school.
I know this is dev rant not dev ramble but this was one of those formative moments where I just really don't know how to process this info.
Anybody had similar feelings? Like looking for someone to help and realizing, not in a egotistical way, just in a sobering way, that you are literally the best and most qualified person out there.3 -
When having to fix parts from an other programmer's code, do NOT concentrate on the small code expected to be wrong, instead read and understand the whole program around it!
Best practice:
1) Why is this code here
2) What does this code do
3) How does the code solve the problem
(just happened to me 😅) -
Not exactly a dream abour coding but my favorite instructor in college.
I dreamt the secret police came to arrest him on campus since his methods teaching cod were unorthodoxed.
As they were leading him away I was screaming and crying - “He’s the best teacher here, what are you doing!”
weird -
And Linus goes best GPU under 500$ bla bla bla. In other countries, you times that price by the exchange rate, then tax, and fuck it's 2k. And I make like 3k per month as a dev. That's not even 1k USD..

Interview pointers please
I've so far applied around 5 jobs and none of them have reverted back to be. I think I gave my best but have not been able to crack the personal interview..
Any pointers??4 -
I use to work with a lot of people from all around the world, so i can say from the very first meeting if you are a good dev or not, and darn ! i hate the self confident devs who think they are the best, especially when they are junior !
I want to tell them : WAKE UP ! YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD !!7 -
Our company fails the Joel test so badly, most strongly on the question 'Do you use the best tools money can buy?'
I've got the best laptop in the company, which is why I'm not allowed to complain (even though I do, see image), but some of my co-workers have dreadfully slow machines. I pity them so much, especially whenever I sit next to them to do some pair programming e.g.41 -
From the moment I started working I knew I wasn't changing the world, creating a new paradigm for the best and all that (even if I avoided working for the best Depression Providers aka Social Medias and other addiction providers)... BUT I never thought about how kind of useless my job was on this "worldly" level...
And lately talking with other seniors profiles in my network (friends having "good careers" ) we kind of concluded that 90-95% of our resumes where in fact CRM/ERP/E-Commerce with a twist...
And fuck, it sucks!! It's useless as fuck at best (let's not talk about the worst cases)... Also, that's most of the startups "innovating" I have met/know... Which also sucks...
I'm baffled by it... And I feel so fucking useless...
fuck... I knew having children was not the best idea...2 -

Best part of being a (freelance) dev : working from home, being able to see my newborn son slowly growing up. Not easy to run after clients days after days, but I don't regret the silly project managers, the dumbasses from the marketing, and, gosh, I don't miss the CTOs. :)1

Best thing about being a dev?
Going on Roblox and some kid claims he was a hacker, then you tell him why he isn't and does not know any of the tech terms you use. Then again why am I playing roblox4 -
Our professor takes points off our code if we use tabs (not much, but still).
But the best part is having "few" spaces is also a problem. Seems like using tabs we be a solution then.
Why?!6 -
So we have a confluence page all about best practices (there’s not even a lot in it) but when you check the repository, most rules are not followed 😭4

Comments belong here on devRant, not in your code!
Code cleanly folks.

My biggest dev sin is premature optimization. I'll try to produce the best possible code without the need for it to be there. I will waste my time thinking of wierd edge cases that can be handled with a simple if-else, but why not tweak the algo to handle them internally.

When your non-technical project manager tells you not to use a technology that you know is the best for the job4

Everyone is leaving the engineering department because they don’t feel appreciated and feel underpaid. While I’m feeling like it’s the best job I’ve ever had. I’m now the most tenured engineer on my team and I’ve not been here a year. All the stuff they are complaining about is fixable.5

Please be gentle, first rant. :)
Can you please provide me with literature recommendations:
1. Books about software architeccture, design patterns and best practices in general.
2. "Relaxation" books related to developer's life experiences, something like "The Phoenix Project" (https://amazon.com/Phoenix-Project-...). I really enjoyed that. :)
I am aware that this is not best use of rants, but I would really like to hear this community recommendations. Thanks in advance. :)9 -
The 'lead' developer is unable to comprehend why sending an empty string when it doesn't exist (instead of not sending it at all and setting it later when it becomes available) is not the best idea to do. Instead, everything is the fault of ElasticSearch (which I oversee in some capacity) because it doesn't read stupid! And so any error being caused is due to ES. YOU DENSE MOTHERFUCKER!!! TL;DR Does Telegram really secure?
Some people say Telegram is the most secure and safe messenger, some say it's not. If you're familiar with it you may know from news that Telegram did not gave its clients' info to government, you may have heard that Telegram's encryption is not the best one, BUT my question is does it store peoples' private chats' keys? Actually it does with normal chats because if you reinstall Telegram you can easily get normal chats' messages. Also my friend said that any application in mobile stores like App Store sign a agreement with stores owner company that if some points met, the application owner have to share info of its clients. So dear friend what do you think, should I continue using Telegram)?
P.S. sorry for my not the best English5 -
Every developer thrives to be the best. But, it's not only the skills, hard work or knowing infinite languages makes you the best. It only makes you the good.
Along with skills, hard work & the languages, the best one needs to have those instincts about the possible solutions to a problem and ability to decide and implement the most efficient solution cleanly in least amount of time.
I'm thriving to be the best. Are you?3 -

The leader in a dev team should be the BEST DEVELOPER
Not the one with "leadership" or "strong ownership" skills and "team player" or "go getter" attitudes. This is euphemism for promoting someone just because you like them, or because of their charisma.
There are many other industries where charisma can play a role in leadership but software is not one of them. To build good software we need to be objective thinkers, not influencers.15 -

Dear Recruiter,
I know you are trying to find the best employees for your company and are working very hard at it, but if you want the best results please be accurate about the posting. Do not put a job as Entry-level if the position requires 7+ years of experience. That is a senior level job. You will lose respect from those that have the experience and discourage all of the entry-level applicants from applying

Dear Atom,
I'm sorry, but it's time. I know that we had many great times together, but I will be switching to Visual Studio soon. It's not your fault, you can blame Microsoft if you want. Sincerely,

What's the best way to run MS Office from Linux? Cloud based, native with wine/play on linux, or a native suite? I don't want to run a VM just for office.
I've tried Libre Office but it doesn't format well for my college professors, and office online works but it's not as quick plus you need the online connection.
Would something like WPS Office be my best option if I wanted a native solution that looked and felt like office with the best level of compatibility?12 -
Not really a backend developer but I give my best with node.js. The way I did it was just raw SQL everywhere, and now trying to figure out Sequelize. Holly shit its to complicated to me.

Hi. I'm not really a developer but I soon hope to be. But the first thing I need to know is programming, which I know next to nothing about. I've tried my hand at simple Python but with so many articles and YouTube videos saying all sorts of languages are "The best to learn" or "A must know code language", I really don't know what to do. Hopefully someone here can help me the figure out which language is the best for a beginner programmer.10
-
There was this prof who loved Ada, it did not bother him that it was not modern. His lecture was mainly based on Ada and where he could he pointed out that it is the best language. He hated JavaScript which I can relate to. None the less it was still interesting and I learned a lot.1

Thanks to the devs for creating this wonderfull app and keeping it updates. Go get yourself a cup of coffee with this extra income.6 -
Building a development department from the ground up is exhausting AF i mean all the research, trying to find best industrial standards to us, best practices, main tech stack to use, working on projects and trying not to get fired2
-
To not get fired. I'm a student at the best high school in my country, so it's really unusual that I work besides school. I want to prove that it's not only possible but beneficial. I already learned a lot, but if I won't get fired, I'll be close to senior level by the time I start working full-time, which will help a lot with university.1

Best part of being a dev is knowing only so many people know how to do the things you do. And it's not that hard really, but you know... people.

Which is a good platform for dedicated servers, privacy-wise, and if possible (but it's not my primary goal) not too heavy on my wallet? I only prefer { on same lines if not used for class constructors & try catch blocks..
Other than that, I adapt to the existing codebase styles, to not fuck up things further, even if it makes no effing sense (old project, styles & best practises changed 'a bit')..
So I guess I'm being influenced most by the old code and pass devs on the projects..1 -
Question:
For a real time chat (web) app. Whats the best technology to use for this? I dont want the chats to have delays or glitches (in case it gets sent but not delivered etc).
Backend stack is java spring boot
How about kafka? Or rabbitmq? Or socket.io? Should i use redis? Should i use AWS SQS? Talking about cloud what AWS tools should i be using to handle this the best way?
Note: it must be scalable. Meaning if i wanted to extend this software more by building a mobile app (aside from web), i should be able to use the same backend easily
Note 2: it is not ONLY a chat app. Chatting is just 1 out of many functionalities. So chatting is not the main component of the project just a side thing
Keep in mind the backend is a microservice architecture etc. Database postgresql.14 -

TL;DR: "Best" job is a dynamic flow, your job or your priorities will change, better to just start.
It depends on your definition of "best": do you mean the job that you think you will enjoy the most? The job that you are the most knowledgeable on? The job that you will have the most upward mobility in terms of opportunity for promotions and salary increases?
All of them at once, i suppose, but you cant have everything at once: my advice would be just start somewhere. Thinking you're going to get your dream job fresh out of college is a bad way to look at the world. The best job may be the best right now, but your priorities will change in life.
The best job today may not be the best tomorrow for a variety of reasons, but if you start somewhere, you will always have the experience generated by your existing occupation to carry you forward and propel you into your next big position. -
I want to make a Guess Who? mobile version. Not sure about what framework to use. Any guesses on what the best would be?11

Hello fellow devs! I am thinking of learning an new language the following year ( not programming 😂 ). Which languages do you think is the best for a programming career ?
I am currently thinking between mandarin(chinese) and Arabic ! Any suggestions ?4 -
Hard to say, as the best tool for one job might not be the best for another.
However between Visual Studio (for big solutions and full .NET development) and Visual Studio Code (for smaller projects, NodeJS and basic file editing) I've not had issues with any projects I've needed to work on. -
Best:
- Guiding few junior engineers.
- Figured out the root cause for an issue which would hampered the productivity of some folks.
Worst:
- Not being able to work on a proper dev ticket
- Not even being able to identify a proper fix for the issue mentioned above. (It is still in the works, but only after 2021) -
Not too long ago I bought 3 monitors. Now I have my IDE on the center, console and debugger (and devrant) on the left, git and music on the right. Still figuring out the best arrangement for all windows but this already feels awesome!3

I had this pretty good experience of handling teams through working and leading projects and being a part of multiple organisations.
The best way to learn something is to teach it to several others with you, so growing together is the best way to learn aa it not only benefits you but people with you.

For me, the flat scissor switch keys on laptops have the best feel, speed and ease.8 -
"You can tear a poem apart to see what makes it tick… You’re back with the mystery of having been moved by words. The best craftsmanship always leaves holes and gaps… so that something that is not in the poem can creep, crawl, flash or thunder in." - Dylan Thomas

Want do you think about the idea that if the world of development does not develop best practices and standards that governments will see it as a threat and try to regulate standards? It is something Bob Martin talks about.

I don't - I live and am ready to face the consequences if I'm ever found out not to be the best of myself everyday.
(That shit is reserved for family and friends - can't buy my smile) -
It you are just starting to learn programming and you are telling everyone else where the best resources are... and what the best practices are... and just repeating everything you hear... and you have “imposter syndrome,” it’s because you are an imposter.
Just enjoy the learning process. It’s not going to end...

SAFARI! What the hell do Apple think they are doing? This has to be the worst browser available, or I should say not available! Problem: It won't load pages; it continually freezes; it just doesn't work. And, there is no use clearing out history, resetting, etc. Apple's folly still just does not work. Every update takes it a further step backwards. If this is the best technology on offer, then it does not bode well for the future.

Best way to learn UI/UX & front-end languages?
As a cs student college seems not to care too much about these, and jobs that help me learn most of the time require a professional-level skill1 -
Not a rant more of a guidance question. That being said,
What are some of the best websites, tutorials, books to becoming a UI/UX designer? Or just a graphic designer?
Thank you all in advance 😁7 -

Breaking things is a great way to learn, and also get sacked.
Just do the best you can with what you've got.2 -

Nothing is as fucked up as it seems, you have this, you'll figure it out, if you can't fix it, scrap it, don't stress yourself out, it's not worth it etc.
Current boss is the best.. Helped me a bunch, not only with how to tackle coding but life in general. -
The job is supposed to be about tinkering with and determining what tech to pull together and how to make it work best to solve novel problems. Not to roll back the code and get fast doing the same fucking project

Finding myself with more and more time where I'm not engaged in conversation or listening to an actual person. What are the best dev-related podcasts to listen to whilst I work/code?1
