We just spent 30 minutes standing around watching Elon Musk launch his car into orbit.
I love working in IT.5 -
I am gonna rage for a bit.
Before I start, know this: I diehard love development, computer science and everythjng surrounding it.
The area comes with a very nice and interesting history and cultural impact. In particular, here as it was in the U.S of A. I love it, I love researching till my eyes beg me to stop and my brain fries. I love reading about history and the silicon knights that madd shit happen through digital wizardry.
And you can only imagine how happy I was when I got my shiny lol B.S in Comp Sci, keep it in my office and errthang.
I
Fucking
Love
My
Field
But. I have noticed something recently. In 2018(obviously before that) this new generation has a knack for making things cringey.
What do I mean by that?
Well, shit like that. Is it necessary? Or what about images(multiple) showing stuff like "double tap for your favorite language!"
Why? Why must we be this way? Why do people find a way to shit all over nice things? Is this shit necessary?
I specially hate pictures of girls showing their legs and right next to them a laptop with some basic af css file --->#codergirl ....fuck off.
Or the trillions of code pictures that are only html or some js framework flavor of the week.
Its just retarded man.38 -
I just realized 1/4th of devRant has tried devRantron ✌
I just wanted to thank everyone, this has been an amazing experience and I've learnt a lot from it. We have some really cool features comming down the pipeline.
I love all of you ♥️13 -
I really love it when people just downvote your question on stackoverflow without any explanation, it helps a lot to fix my problem thx 👌8
-
Although I love developing I always thought that there was something missing.
I learned Java but didn't really like it. I had spent quite some time with web development and enjoyed it but I felt like developing with JavaScript was too high level and I felt the same for Python.
So I started learning the most awesome programming language: C
I just love that I have so much control over everything and that the language is so compact and gives you just the right amount of tools you need.
I also love physics and electronics a lot and it feels awesome to first build something and then program it.
I am looking forward to design a PCB (printed circuit board) and write code for an AVR microcontroller like the Atmega328 (most arduinos use this one).
Picture of the project I am working on.10 -
When i was studying Engineering, I used to wonder how programmers works straight 3,4 days without sleep and all.
With today, I completed my 3rd day, with just 2 hours sleep in the last 70 hours.
Now I get it,
This is.. passion,
This is.. love,
This is Life.16 -
My lil girl has a habit of bringing me her rubber ducks whenever she sees me sitting down and just chilling. But this far she has (funny enough) done it twice whilst I am coding.
This time she got me super duck!!!
:) i love my lil girl13 -
Don’t you just love it when you do the following in a prod database 😅
UPDATE table SET someImportantField= NULL; WHERE abc = 123;
If I don’t laugh right now I’m going to cry.5 -
For the love of dog, if I select English on your online store, it doesnt mean I live in the UK, therefore show me prices in £ pounds, It just means I cannot speak German but I need to read English, but pay in € Euros!!! Can people please stop confusing Language with Location!!!!6
-
A piece of software i use received a major redesign today and this is the outcome...
I REALLY LOVE THE MINIMALISTIC APPROACH YOU HAVE TAKEN HERE!
Just throwing ideas out here but you know...testing your product before launching it to your customers might be an idea, just saying...10 -
Managing a server for a friend. After a while it was a better idea to just reinstall it.
Seriously, just installing software onto it, securing it and tweaking around/trying to figure out things with servers.
I fucking love it!10 -
I hate how one of my hobbies can get me tipsy so easily.
It's really hard to combine it with the working life sometimes 😖😩
I just love special beer(s), it's more than just beer for me, it's a hobby!22 -
I hate Linux so much. I mean, how could anyone of you barbarians like it??
I don't understand the hate for windows. It's secure, emphasizes privacy, and it's Microsoft. What's not to love?
Linux is just proprietary malware.26 -
That'd be Linux for sure. I love how it allows its operator to do anything they please, without any lockdown or nannying. How I own the piece of software (given copyright compliance of course), rather than being just (temporarily) licensed to use it. How I can customize it into whatever shape I want. How it allows pretty much anyone to contribute. And redistribution! Yes, the hundreds if not thousands of distributions and appliances that use it! Simply amazing.1
-
I just love going through the code review gauntlet doing maintenance work, don’t you?
(“boyscout rule” = “leave it better than you found it”)7 -
Young enthusiastic computer science student here. Was quite a long time silent reader of rants and other posts. Love this community. Today my raspberry arrived, looking forward to work with it and I just wanted to share my happiness!7
-
I'm a huge fan of the imagecreatefromstring function in PHP. I love how it can just take any image format as a string and turn it into an image!

It's raining. I love it.
It's foggy. I love it.
But I live in a desert and nobody here seems to know how to handle the rain, let alone the fog. (It isn't hard, people!) Last night during my ~30 min drive home from work, five separate accidents/collisions happened just a little ways behind me because it was raining. Now it's foggy, too.
I have to go to work.
I'm scared.12 -
I just started using git. it is unbelievably useful. What an idiot I was that I didn't start using it earlier. I LOVE GIT!3
-
I'm kind of in love with Flutter. This is not Gmail, this is an UI I built with it in just a couple of hours to mimic that of Gmail, my friends are already using it for pranks 😅16

I’ve battled depressed I failed to realized I had for many years. I didn’t love myself, I forgot what it felt like to love myself, and then one day my life turned around out of the blue. I believe my turning point was when I realized that I wasn’t alone and that people did care about me. I just wasn’t motivated especially after almost losing my cousin to suicide 3-4 months back. It changed my DNA, my personality, everything about me changed until I told myself that I had enough.
Today marks the 4th month where I last had a cup of coffee, soda, or junk food in general because in all honesty it was just making my depression worse. Today also marks the 4th month I’ve been going to the gym without fail and I’ve now noticed how far I’ve come. I love myself more than ever now and I am VERY goal oriented as well. I have one more year left until I get my bachelors degree in Software Development and soon after I’ll go in for my Masters and who knows what I’ll do after that.
It’s all uphill from here and by sticking to my new routines I am feeling a lot better as the days and months pass.
Attached is my progress thus far, left is from when I felt at my lowest and right is the progress I’ve made so far with improving myself and where I am at now.
I love myself, I love those that love me, and I LOVE feeing AMAZING like I do now when I wake up every morning waiting to see what the day has in store for me 😄❤️rant self-improvement let me be your antidepressant <3 love you guys self-image story time progression depression love you all19 -
Feature request for @dfox:
Swiping for rants:
Left = nay, right = yay
Or better:
Match making via rants for devSingles.
Just kidding! I love devRant the way it is. It's the best app. Probably the best of all. It's huge. You'll like it.7 -
No Rant, just wanted to say devRant is something I have been looking for in a long time, Love it !3
-
Just wanna say I fucking LOVE..
... Linux
... Open source
... GPL & MIT License
... SO
.., devRant
... more stuff
... TDDR (Too Dunk, Don’t Remember)
Most of us are complaining / ranting way more often about development and technology than we do appreciate it..
Just look at our great and unique community..
Im often angry but right now I remember how great the dev community is and I love it:)4 -
Microsoft open sources 60K patents. Did I travel to some alternate universe?
https://google.com/amp/s/...
Few of those times when I get to add microsoft and opensource together in the tags.9 -
I think I'm doomed when it comes to posting the kinds of rants that get upvotes. The pattern I've noticed is that profanity-laden rants get more love than ones that are more tame. I was raised old-school, so profanity isn't my thing. Guess I'll just sit back and watch.6
-
Is it just me? I hate feeling like I'm too old (35) to begin a tech career. I love programming, but get the sense that I missed the boat on learning enough to be a "successful" programmer. I'm crazy to think everyone getting hired in this field is younger, right?18
-
My daughter made me two things:
1) She found a rock in the shape of an “alien” head. Knowing I love to research UFOs, she used nail polish to decorate the rock like an alien. And I just love it!
2) I have a reputation for being just like Charlie Brown with my luck in life. I also suck at math. Like, really, really bad. I was diagnosed with dyscalculia 22 years ago. It’s a running joke at our house such that I even have the t-shirt she depicts me wearing in this painting of “me” she did for my birthday.2 -
Linux... Is shitty... Ok it just is. I've tried all kinds of variations and they all just... Urgh
Now I know... I know devs are meant to love it ... But compare it to windows
(Yes windows fucks up more) but when it works it works.
... Windows isn't perfect... But it doesn't try to be.
Linux has that feel of... Clearly made by a dev... It works consistently but doesn't take into account how people want to use something...
Linux is something you have to learn to love. And I'm sure I could.
But with windows it's intuitive it's straight forward
I feel like if I was to pick up windows having never used it... I would know how it works. I could at least use it go online and watch videos do the basics... In Linux ... No it's not as easy, sometimes not possible
An os you should just know how to do everything you want to do, and not have to download tonnes of shit to get it that way
It is, the future... But holy fuck get your act together Linux65 -
I love how Microsoft updated the user interface for editing the PATH variable in windows. Now it is possible to see all entries in a table, before there was just one textfield with many entries seperated by semicolons (I know the update is already some month old now, but still happy)5
-
Everything but UI/UX
Because I suck at it, lame but true, I love every kind of code, from MEAN and LAMPP to assembly, but when it comes to UI I just lack of the imagination and creativity to design something that looks averagely good.6 -
Today I got a standing aviation by panel in my final year projects presentation. It was such an emotional moment and I went numb. I don't have an impressive grades so it meant a lot to me. I just wanted to share this somewhere please bear with me.
And to anyone out there who think that they can't make it, please just keep going. I just want to say, make your journey beautiful. If you love doing it, you won't care to reach some destination.17 -
I just spent 3hours trying to make the simplest, barely 10lines python script work with no success.
I'm writing this rant from my bed where I gave up.
I love programming but moments like this I fear I'm not cut out for it and It hurts, the little self esteem I have left is on fire.10 -
ahh... i love reading posts like these.... dumb tech noobs...
Oh u dont like the UI in Android? well just fucking change the launcher...
But ur going to switch cuz they purposefully crippled ur old iphone even though u bought a new one anyway (because u actually really just wanted it)?7 -
Love really fucking sucks. It's the only exception i try but can't catch and i end up crashing in a bar alone and drunk. I finally wake up in my apartment just to do it all over again.14
-
I hate coffee. But because I'm a developer, people just assume I love it and don't offer me an alternative.6
-
I love Linux, use it almost daily
, but those windows update horror storys aren't happening when I'm using windows.
I think those days are gone, and people are just hating.27 -
My company has sort of project team ("FachArbeitsGruppe" in German) meetings regularly and we love our abbreviations so every now and then at work I see an email or document just labeled "FAG". I think there's even a users group called "FAG IT".
-
*has an appointment to get a new home supervisor*
Management lass: Just so you know, you shouldn't talk about technology to your new home supervisor. She has no clue about it.
I love that new home supervisor already...4 -

One thing I love in devRant is the avatar design. Everytime I open up a rant, the replies below with avatars look exactly a group of developers talking in a bar.
It just visually makes me comfortable.6 -
I love it when companies take 3 weeks to reply to their mail.
I love it when said company plans in a meeting during a 3 hour period, any moment through which they could arrive and you have to be available for.
Additionally, I love seeing companies use an @gmail.com for their business mail. The professionalism just oozes off of a Gmail account, when it's used for business-related stuff.
I love this kind of professionalism. So professional, much business.
…
Get a fucking domain already. And MAINTAIN YOUR FUCKING MAIL!! And why the FUCK am I waiting for these incompetent motherfuckers to arrive already, for 90 bloody motherfucking minutes that are way overtime for me as I've been awake for fucking 18.5 hours already?! Fucking incompetent pieces of shit.8 -
Just had Windows pop up with a notification saying “We’ve turned on storage sense for you”. Love it how the default is “When Windows Decides”. Was that why countless users lost their data back in October 2018???
I think I’ll turn that off permanently 😂😂😂4 -
Just made the shift to a Linux development environment from a windows one... Gotta say it feels so much better (love Ubuntu's interface)
Miss the use of photoshop though (I Know gimp exists... But photoshop is just so much better)
Any tips for a linux/ubuntu newbie??36 -
My love for web development has come to an end, I'm no longer enjoying it but sadly I can't just get up and leave work 🤷♂️7
-
Just got my beta access for Framer X. They describe themselves as "Unity for design" bridging the gap between Sketch and React using code-based components. I think it has a lot of potential. Would love some non-designer perspectives. What do the front-end devs here think of it?10
-
Win 10 is the best, I love how it just restarts without asking, no more hassle of me having to confirm anything, or save data first. finally an OS that has the confidence to just do whatever the fuck it wants, so awesome!3
-
So I thought it would be cool to build UI/Screens for Flutter apps and put them out for the world to use. People are already using my designs in their apps and it just feels amazing. I am continuously adding new screens and widgets as and when I get time.
Feel free to fork and show some love: https://github.com/samarthagarwal/...3 -
It's finally here!
I love this little thing!
Let's see what I'll do with it... I planned on making some games but for now I will probably just use it for playing old retro stuff6 -
I just realize that companies dont value a good developer, they just want a developer that can do the job done for clients to get money, i understand that just recently and im sad that some people are just in it for the money not for the love of the craft and technology.8
-
I got the job and wow that was fast. I applied for the job on monday at 2 am and they sent me the contract on tuesday (today) at 10pm. Thats 44 hours from the first mail until I got the contract :D
Also: I just love it, the company seems to be exactly what I was looking for5 -
I love static sites and fancy new frameworks. Had an interview some time ago at a medium sized company. They specifically wanted someone to build static sites and introduce the company to Vue and Gridsome.
I got really excited for my first project. It was a wordpress site and I had to build a custom WP theme for it. Not exactly what I expected. Also I had no prior PHP knowledge, nor any experience with Wordpress. So I got really upset, because it wasn’t the technologies I was used to.
The first week was hard, I wanted to quit. But once something clicked. And I realized I know this. This is not PHP, not Wordpress, not Vue, but just simply a programming language. At the core everything programming language is the same. PHP became comfortable, Wordpress conventions didn’t bother me. I realized I can use great technologies with WP too. I get to know twig, added some sass, compiled everything nicely with webpack. And after a month I have a beautiful, fast and efficent site. I love it.
I realised that I don’t love the languages and frameworks. I love coding itself. I love creating efficent and reliable, clean code. No matter the architecture.
And my advice for you is to stop hating particular languages and serious debates on what is better, and hating your job when you can’t code in your new shiny framework. Love coding itself, because it’s a wonderful activity. We are creators, we are artists. Not <insert specific programming language here> developers.16 -
I fucking love Python
It just works :)
Half an hour for a nice evening side project.
Even faster than Twitter takes for approving an app.
im waiting now 1 week...6 -
WHYYY is LDAP so god damn convoluted??!?
I love the idea of it, but in practice, everything is just a hack on top of hack on top of hack going as far back as the 90s.2 -
!rant #meta: I registered just yesterday and woke up this morning with 44 notifications, which is great because this community is obviously refreshingly active, plus I really love getting notifications. Nevertheless, is it really necessary to create an individual notification for EVERY SINGLE +1?! Dear devRant devs, I love what you're doing. But please, PLEASE, merge/group these notifications into just a few. I don't want to go through every single one of these, it's just cluttering my notification list. I always just clear the list and then use the in-app bell symbol to navigate to whatever item I'm interested in. I can't be the only one.4
-
This is what I love about fellow devs - they know what's best, you don't need to ask something like "please keep adding xyz to your post so we can see if it...". We just do it. :31

#heavyrant
AGAIN !!! MICROSOFT (MAY GOD SEND THEM TO HELL) GAVE A DEADLY BLOW TO SOMETHING I USED TO LOVE !!
This new UI update is just aweful, i mean, i love github, i work using github, i do so many things with it, or should i say that i used to ....
This update seems so un-natural, it just doesn't fit.
Why would the collabs be shown so obviously ??
Why would the main window be so narrow while the rest is widescreen ????
My eyes get tired so quickly when i use it now.
It used to be something nice, easy to use, but now it is more like a social media than a professional coding tool.
I HATE YOU MISCROSOT WHAT EVER YOU TOUCH TURNS TO BE A SHIT HOLE25 -
Windows. There, I said it.
3 years ago I got a Mac and it just made sense to me.
Many people don't like Mac and love Windows and that's fine by me.5 -
I love this Google's Colab feature, when I saw it, I just laughed for no reason!
A button to the answer :)7 -
Audacity repository being on fire for the new privacy policy is something I just can't stop watching ... I love it.12
-
Is it only me or does Unity really force people to write ugly code?
Sometimes I think to my self : " just go and write your god damn own fuckin engine"
But then I sit back and realize that I'd never finish a game that way.
Love & Hate Unity !3 -
I just watched this documentary called "take your pills" and seeing the weird programmer they interviewed I got curious about how many DevRanters use Addy as a coding booster? Would you consider it just a normal performance enhancer like caffeine? Have you tried it?
I've only noticed coffee heads like myself here and I was wondering if some of the people that aren't are against the use of Adderall too.
I'd love to hear some thoughts on the subject.37 -

So family doesn't really know coding. Just me and my little sister. But then my dad suddenly made jokes with loops and stuff. I have no idea where he learned it. They're not actually accurate but I really love it when he does that.2 -
I girlfriend frowns when ever I spend so much time with my system coding. she doesn't just get it that my system was my first love before she came into my life.4
-
Not necessarily a "language" per se, but goddamn do I love git's rebase function. I mean, that shit lets you rewrite history!
Just imagine how the world would change if we could do a rebase on it. 🤔2 -
I always love it when a manager who has no coding background tells me to "just do this" without ever letting me do any research. Just because you see it in you favorite app does not mean that feature is trivial.1
-
I love the fact that once you pass enough time in DevRant you begin to identify people rants and comments by their avatars. Anyone else has that reflex or my brain's RAM is just taken by chrome and it is easier for me to just remember some pixels? xD2
-
Is it just me, or is the rants longing for stickers and balls (sounds vaguely euphemistic) becoming just a bit too common?
I love some good stickers as much as the next guy, but wouldn't it be more fun to have them for something more, well, rant-y?
But by all means, keep ranting about what you think about, I love all of it.3 -
I recently started using Linux on my desktop.
I just love how when I see some minor thing I don't like about the operating system I can just change it myself!
Want to remove the menu icon? Simple change to the settings. Want your downloads folder to be clean? Simple cron job which asks you if you want to clean your downloads folder every day.
Man I love having the freedom to screw up my operating system!9 -
!rant !dev
Some devRanters here live in Ireland? Got to say I just tried Guinness for the first time and I love it!6 -
Just love when I wake up with answers. I was trying to do this (Rant text loads -> Image place holder -> Image loads -> Image replaces placeholder) for hours last night but couldn't figure it out. Today, I did it over lunch.
-
Just started reading this. Great for learning some History and I just love the style it's written in. One can really feel how it was written by real admins. So much cynicism3
-
Does anybody out there actually really love their job? Because I do. I'm not sure if it's just me or that my job is actually great, but my coworkers are respectful, my boss lets me have control over each project's pace, I get to write tests and invest in refactoring, and I make good money doing it.
Is this just me?7 -
I swear I NEVER hated PHP before, but after seeing this shit, I just can't love it anymore, I feel betrayed
I mean, WTF? Just bc I'm using the variable as a reference in the NEXT loop the LAST element changes? What even is the fucking reason?
Yeah, I read the answer on StackOverflow, but seriously...
SO ref: https://stackoverflow.com/questions...12 -
Just discovered Insomnia Designer, I freaking love it and it's git integration. This is exactly what we developers needed for years 🥳10
-
Just wondering why most of you here hate php. I have multiple live projects using the Laravel framework, runs great and I love it!13
-
Sometimes I hate it to be a "computer-guy". There is this one beautiful girl, I see her everyday in the train, but I just can't talk to her. I hate myself for not just saying " Hi" or whatever. I'd love to "just say something", but it doesn't work! Why the fuck am I thinking this much?!
Any tips? From dev to dev? Please?!33 -
I love to sleep, but once I stayed almost 26 hours making a front-end design as a test to enter to a company in Brasil. And here I am. Worth it.
BTW, I completed the test in 9 hours, I'm just adding more hours as everyone here hahaha. I stayed awake for 26 hours but had a normal day. Does it count? -
I love it when my boss says "review the code with this guy since he knows alot" and that guy wastes your time by just skimming my code and saying "where is the final product?". I don't get people sometimes. At least I impressed myself making a small chatbot.
-
I started programing when I almost failed at some IT class 7 years ago when I was 16 in high school. So I started googling how to do basic stuff in java (if, for, while,... ) and I just fall in love with it 😊 I still remember how I wanted to make a button in Java so I googled: how to button in java 😂
Here I am still in love with it and I think I will always have this need to learn new programming languages, technologies, frameworks,... 😊🤓 -
phpMyAdmin
Well, it is not my favorite open source project... I almost never have to use DBs, but when I do, it just saves my life. I can create the tables, keys without worring about any SQL command.
But day to day life is GNU/Linux, Firefox, bash/zsh, git... There are lots of opensource tools that I use, and love, everyday. :)2 -
I've got a confession to make. I.. I just love hand-obfuscating JS-Code. Not because, i would prefer working with obfuscated code.. I just find it extremely satisfying watching the code shrink and being the only one being able to understand it..
It's out. I feel better now.4 -
I fucking love https://datatables.net/ I haven't given it another look for a while, after discovering it ages ago and have been always implementing that all on my own, now I can just slap it into any project and have search, filters, pagination and more handled for me, what a fucking awesome project1
-
Never had any doubt in my skills and have always judged them accordingly.
I am very....very...annoyingly confident (and in love with) myself.
This does not mean i do not acknowledge me fucking up and being wrong. It just means that even when I fuck up I learn from it, add it to my toolbelt and then continue to think that i am the bomb.
I don't compare my shit to others. I have never seem anyone effortlesly do anything, it is always the result of practice, passion, love and dedication and saying that it must be easy for them is an insult to them and their crafts.
I do not get jealous, nor do I feel smaller, i get pumped and motivated.3 -
The fact that I was just able to unplug my phone because it was fully charged and just swap the cable to my Chromebook just makes me way too excited for the future of tech peripherals!
(Yes I love USB-C and Bluetooth and am one of those people who are happy and excited to see the headphone jack die)14 -
To be honest, I prefer clean laptops, without any stickers on it, but I love dbrand skins, in some ways, they are stickers, awesome full-laptop-body stickers that are great. Used to have marble and concrete on my XPS, now it's just clean.5

I was just commiting some code on GitHub for school tomorrow and I kinda got lost in the commit description..
Ah, it just hit me so hard I had the urge to get it out.. Helped, tho, love you Git -
I was so mad at work today that I started singing to "Icona Pop - I love it" during lunch but altered the lyrics to match how I felt... Just sing along when your day is as bad as mine:
"I crashed my project into a wall, I watched, I let it burn" ... "I don't care, I love it"
"I threw this shit into a file and pushed it up to GIT" ... "I don't care, I love it"
"I got this feeling on the summer day when I'm gone" ... "I don't care, I love it" -
I hate that I can watch Silicon Valley over and over and love every episode Everytime. (Don't really hate it just needed it to sound like a rant.11

New programmer who just pick up Python be like , C is shot , is bad , python better blablabla....
Why anyone hate C so much? I personally use C for Embedded Programming, for hardware or is better compare to using python for my case.
I love python , but I love C more. Because without C the rest don't exist. Right?
So stop hating on C. Because you might use it someday.17 -
I just love it to giggle at "hackers" in movies/series.
"He used an ARP to 'crack' the hostname of the server"
And then a countdown when the Server is hacked...10 -
Don't you just love it when you're typing up a question for Stackoverflow and in the process of forming a good question, you solve the problem! Jon Skeet would be proud of me I think

I thought I was never going to be anything in life because there was nothing that I was good at. Then I started "web school" and it just clicked. I was good at it and I understood it. Finished with an A :) now I love my job as a front-end developer.1

1. it like playing with lego, but for adults, and you have almost no limit
2. it's the best way I know to express an idea
3. I just love having the PC doing exactly what I tell it to do, even if it doesn't make any sense whatsoever -
Call me crazy all you want, but I love my tangled mess of cords
Yeah yeah, I know, I know, wouldn't I just love a cordless setup and workspace ...
NO
Bluetooth devices are at best unreliable and at worst don't even work with Linux
I want to just be able to plug my shit in and work, not wait for everything to sync and hope I don't have connectivity issues
Call it living in the past all you want, I don't care. I love my cords
Fuck you and your bluetooth shit2 -
Meta devRant rant:

Lets discuss Git Clients. Now I love electron, in concept. And I love what you can do with it, on paper. And I understand Github's need to jack itself off by developing its own framework just to make its own software in being what Github is, and then everyone else following suite because Github must know best. And that's my rant, I don't think it had a point. So, favorite git client and why?21

Dear dongle manufacturers, I love USB-C, I think everyone does; it is the bomb... But.... But but but, please stop charging so much extra for it, I can get a USB-A to Ethernet adaptor for $12 AUD but it's going to cost me at minimum $49 AUD for the same branded dongle, even has the same internal chips... Why... Just... Why!16

Can't we just write rants in html? I mean I'm enjoying devRant really well so far but adding html tags and so would make me love it here even more13
-
Hey guys, I hope you don't mind me posting this here. But I just wanted to get your feedback on a game I am currently developing. Its an RPG Shoot em up. Kind of like an 8bit Star Citizen.
I just posted my first Devlog and would love for you to check it out :)

Switched from notepad to notepad++ about 14 years ago. I use it for all languages and
never used anything else ever since.
Any ex-np++ users who switched to smt else lately and y?
I still love np++, just trying to keep an open mind😊5 -
Progressive Web Apps(PWA) are freaking awesome !!
Its the future of Apps !!
I fuckin love it how you can just download the app by visiting the website !
Its gonna cut down Development costs alot!
5 years down the line, its gonna be fire🔥7 -
I just love the Windows Developer Support... but unfortunately I don't have the possibility to use it (error when try to submit an incident). :D
Maybe it's a feature, not a bug...3 -
I am thinking to start freelancing with PHP. I need more money besides my actual job and I just love to code.
It will be my first time developing profissionaly.
Any tips?8 -
I always love getting yelled at by a client about a feature that they “use everyday” and critical to their business is just not working. Go back and look... it appears that it broke a while ago (in this case a couple months).
It’s my fault, but I do start to question other blanket statements they make. -
tfw I get called smart for just helping a lad having a welcome splash from node-canvas buffer.
Well, you sometimes love people giving you gratitude, doesn't it? -
Got that old mid 2011 MBA and just put Ubuntu 20.04 on it. Tried 18 on it before but didn't really feel right. 20 works great though.
I love it when I can reuse old hardware I have laying around and it works out of the box.😁
Will use it for entertainment purposes, movies, music etc.2 -

Just
Received the one plus 3T I ordered from there U.S. as it's not sold in S.A.
I don't remember the last time I was this excited about a new phone.
I just love it. The black theme is gorgeous3 -
DAMNIT. I love Netflix, I do, but if you want to really stop the illegal downloading in the long term then don't remove series or movies I'm watching.
I get it, it's these big companies pulling their content but it's just so backwards.
Happy new year!5 -
So... Google Chrome on Android got an update (just reset my phone so maybe some funky Google roll out) and... I don't know how I feel...
I love it so much but hate it at the same time...8 -
Foolow up on: https://devrant.com/rants/1066787/...
I freaking did!
Already wrote half of the app in react.
I dont know how it happened, but i just got the idea and started coding suddenly!
And.... I love it!3 -
I hate so very much about so very many things, I forget some of the things I love.
And what I love is small lines of code that reveal something about their developer. This? This I love to see.
Some guy here studied C at university, decided he liked it so much he would port it over to JS. Absolutely pointless effort, but he decided he would do it nonetheless. The code is clean, documented, just with this little quirk and I'm honestly smiling. You rock, buddy, whoever you are.2 -
Sometimes, I really want to throw any PC or server out and just have a more simple life
I guess that working with something you love, makes you starting to hate it.4 -
I can fucking believe this is still the norm.
Micro selection borders for window / panel
sizing are the worst, please for the love of
god, MAKE THEM THICCer.
No need to make them visually wider,
just let me select it more easily, PLEASE.4 -
I really love Linux, but i GODDAMN HATE, how nearly no Distro supports installing it on a Custom LVM.
I mean, i just want to have a custom LVM, inside of an encrypted Partition in other Distros than Ubuntu, Debian or Opensuse.1 -
something i love about pop os is that light mode just doesn’t work. it’s straight broken at least for me. i mean sure i have like 5 conflicting desktops installed but yeah, i like the idea that the light theme just straight up doesn’t work. it gives me comfort knowing that the developers who made it and the testers who tested it weren’t subjected to the cruelty of creating and testing a [functional] light theme.5
-
I just love how companies would go to any length to motivate you to work more!
As long as it doesn't cost them more than peanuts..13 -
I just found an old util class of mine for messing with some data before sending it to the api.
The methods are called:
burnId
mutilateDate
cleanseDates
cleanseData
unfuckLocalDateString
fuckDate
I love it. -
love it when client supports comes to me and tells me the entire conversation they had with a client when i just need wathever request they had. i could have been done with this feature in the time you took giving me 90% useless information.2
-
Visual Studio Code !!
It has tons of features, form keybinding, to language support
I just love the inbuilt terminal support
And with git integration and some plugins, there's absolutely no need for separate git client -
Honestly I love videos on YouTube that's sped up footage of someone programming a game and talking over it explaining what was happening or what they were thinking but I have only found a few channels that do it.. Hopson is one with his Mincraft in a week being my fav.. I just wish there was more..2
-
Merry fucking new year.
I hope you find love in 2018. I see a lot of you wanting to find a significant other. Just know that out there are so many others that want the same. Just be ready to not only want love, but give it. Also, make sure your significant other also gives and is not like many just wanting to be loved.
And stay away from CSS. That shit's shitty shit.9 -
I used to love JS until I learned it properly. Shit is a fucking hodge-podge of concepts. Still not as mature as I thought it was. And each new iteration is just fixing the mistakes of its past. Fucking language is a mistake in itself!8
-
I just started a new job today and I fucking love it. I've learned more in a day than I do on a weekly basis in school. It's difficult but exciting as fuck to actually be able to use the technologies you've learned in a professional context.
-
For the love of fuck, my sd card had a ridiculously large amount of space, but I can't just download apps to it, the best I can do is download to my space-limited phone and then "move to sd card" which doesn't help if the app is bigger than the space I have on my phone and because it doesn't move the while app, just a couple files, stupid fucking fuck1
-
People might like it. People might love it. People might wanna kiss it. People might wanna share bed with it.
But I just don't feel it. -
!rant :) FUUUUUUUUDGE YEAAAAH!
it's so satisfying when you've been working on a huge ass thing(when maybe you should have tested individual parts) and it just fucking works as intended amazing, I love it!
It's so beautiful to see your own compiler(jk just scanner+parser atm) compile code successfully -
I just love it when the management/project office make decisions regarding code language and frameworks and such... just ignore the devs with actual experience...4
-
Since ive started college my will to program has become non-existant. Im a self taught programmer since 12, it used to be MY thing and i loved it. I used to spend hours a day just programming personal projects because i love it. However since college has been getting serious with this being my junior year and having part-time contract work i dont "love it" as much. Im a little scared, i have no time to just code for fun and when i do have time it feels like work because thats the only other time i code.
What should i do guys, i dont want to fall out of love with programming, it's part of who i am and i can feel im losing it.1 -
Started doing the cms, looks neat
But i haven't even finished the home page yet.
I just love to do the backend and seems that a cms cover a lot of the basics and more
PS : it is a personal project :D1 -
I visited my college school today and my friends from lower years are still afraid of coding , i mean coding doesnt bite it just take time to understand , i think people want the easy way of understanding things rather than building up from nothing, thats why i love to code because i can literally make something out of nothing.4
-
LUA... its great! I love it... but WHY THE FUCK DOESNT LUA START COUNTING FROM FUCKING 0!!! WHY THE FUCK DOES IT START FROM 1! I SEARCHED HALF A FUCKING HOUR IN MY CODE AND IT JUST DIDNT WORK! then it hit me... LUA IS THE ONLY FUCKING LANGUAGE THAT STARTS FROM 1 and sure enough... after changes and testing IT FUCKING WORKED!
Fuck4 -

I posted a rant a few days ago, saying Math sucks and I fucking hate it.
Don't you love it though, when everything falls into place nicely when it's really just mathematical laws. It's beautiful3 -
Gotta love it when CMake manages to change the way it handles GLEW in the latest build and breaks the QT moc inclusion directive in the previous. I absolutely detest the current state of cross platform build tools and environments. The amount of ffing time wasted on this crap is just beyond me.2
-
Love writing comments, hate writing documentation.
Ugh, I know it is needed but just don't care about it as much as the code/comments which is a more direct 'here is what this does' approach. Writing idiot proof documentation sucks. Any little change? Have to remember to update the docs. Yeah, not happy.1 -
Just watched Zombieland 2 in the cinema and the dumb blonde girl in the movie was so fucking sweet and adorable and NOT TO EVEN MENTION HOW HOT SHE WAS, but i fucking fell in love with her PERSONALITY, i know its an act but i also know there are people who exist with that personality, this is very weird to me because i fall in love by the looks, rarely by the behavior but i this time i love her because of her personality lol what the fuck is this
I didnt know it was possible to fall in love with someones personality like i dont even have the urge to fuck her just to love her for personality lmao
Aight im talking about this like we are exclusive but it was just a dumb but chill movie9 -
Do you guys listen to lo-fi when programming? I love it. If you don't what do you listen to? (I'm just curious)16
-
Auto-discovery licensing servers are the best invention since sliced bread.
Whenever a product company provides them I just automatically love their product for it. -
I love doing what we do b/c we're always solving tough problems... But f@&k it sucks just before the right answer becomes clear! It always feels like it's impossible, until you're playing with your daughter and her Barbie dolls... Then it's a battle of not forgetting it....1
-
Ok let's get our hate and love out for the 3 main OS types, tell us why you hate or love each of them.
Windows: I hate its lack of customisation, colours and wallpapers only go so far, and how fucking bloated it is and how little you can do about it.
Linux: it's open, free, and pretty much a sandbox for changes and is lightweight, plus if you don't like something about it, remove it, whats not to love!
MacOS: I love it because it just works and could also run on a potato (yeah I said it, fight me) and it's just a very good looking is with fluid animations and simplicity.
Now, don't be hating on people's opinions here so keep it civil :-P13 -
I just discovered electronjs and absolutely love it, even found that my fav ide vscode is build using electron on nodejs.12
-
bitch, i AM the developer
still love how the most important part of a TECH SaaS (the developers) are always just a commodity "ah just send it off"
meanwhile the dashboards of all these tools for the "business types" are all absolute garbage
the world's all backwards
revenge of the nerds continues until moral improves -
Just because I know Laravel, Django, Angular2 and React two companies are offering me double the salary I am getting now. But I love my current work place and I might get the amount here too but maybe after six or seven months. I love it because there are better developers here than me and I am learning a lot. Is my decision to stay ok? What would have you done?(btw I am staying anyway)4
-
In no particular order
• Create a variety of things
• The idea of contributing to projects/games/whatever and being apart of a overall large community.
• Solving problems/Automation
There’s just so much I love about programming it’s so hard to narrow it down to 3 things -
Well... I was in a room, my computer was in a room. I was bored, so I just browsed around wikipedia. Then, baaam, suddenly i was at the page for programming. I read about and i was in love. It was love at first sight.
-
I love coding so much that I end up re-inventing the wheel more often than not. Like, I'll see an interesting problem and I'll prefer coding it myself than just google it. That's definitely a form of masochism. 🥺
Wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have a 100 other things to do...3 -
I just started learning java cause i have to because of uni, and i heavily used JS before , but somehow i really love the statically typed syntax and it brings so much clarity about what everything is doing.
Also love how object oriented everything is5 -
Curiosity killed the cat.. or was it Opportunity?! 🤔
You get to learn new stuff daily.
Not one assignment is the same, and if it's similar, you can hijack the old code, improve it & turn in the better version of it.. or don't improve..totally how you feel that day..if you're not a crappy developer no improvement should still also be ok..
I love mostly adjustable schedule, so there's no biggie of I have a day or two of coders block & can't produce much of value..I can switch tasks & do some simple ones on those days..or just refactor.. all's good..
I love solving puzzles, every bug is a new puzzle I can play with..
So basically, I love being a dev, because it's like being back in school, but only with the subjects you like! -
Just purchased a new domain and decided to once again design my website personally (Fuck wordpress man) but...
I absolutely hate working with HTML and JS at the same time (I actually love JS on its own), its like bloody Stockholm syndrome!
HTML may beat me senseless.. But i love it too much to stop!1 -
I just started on a Laravel project for a customer. Damn I’ve got a hate/love relationship with that thing.
I fucking love how fucking fast development is it in, even for fairly complex tasks, amazing.
I fucking hate how goddamn fucking slow development is when you get an error, as that shit is near impossible to debug, and you keep getting weird exceptions that you just need to know what means. -
Today I found out something called Alpine.js. And I absolutely love it. It is really easy and simple to make apps with it. A simple to-do list app that I done just now is a HTML file with only 30 lines.2
-
I discovered Tmux recently. I already love it!
(if you want a list of plugins used in both Tmux and Vim, just ask. I'm also open to suggestions since it's something I don't really know too well)5 -
I just built a website with Hugo. And I love it. Got a request for a certain set of pages but because of the workflow the one thing I could dynamically load wasn't worth a whole wordpress site.
So I built it with Hugo instead. I played with it a little last week so I could get around but I got good this week and damn it's powerful.
I think I'm in love. I wish more projects at work could be built in Hugo.12 -
I just love it when the debugger integration into the IDE breaks for no good reason.
I also love that the github issue about it was closed for inactivity. Because problems magically disappear if no one screams "same issue here" for long enough.
Fuck you too19 -
I love python. But in JS I hate it when I do a lot of nesting then end up missing a bracket. That shit is crazy. Python you just need to see the indentation. Very easy to debug.3
-
You know what I just love? That co-worker who constantly cracks his knuckles. I wonder what sound it would make if someone made his fingers bend just a little more.1
-
Git... I just love it!
Oh, and Guake Terminal on Ubuntu :)
And Sublime Text...
Why? Because they get out of your way and just help you get stuff done...safely.
PS: also Trello :)5 -
I managed to remember some old Bitwarden (password manager service, I remember that linuxxx recommended me this one a looong time ago) credentials, so I logged in. I found an old devRant account - not my first though (I deleted it).
I've been a random lurker all this time (this is the first dev community I've been and I'm not planning to leave it until it dies), and it's good to login just to give my 2 cents.
I love you all. Seriously. I love you all with every single bit of my heart (get it?), impartially. Thanks for existing.
Here's an interrupted "caramelCase posted a new rant!"; it's actually longer but a wild guy ++'d my comment.
p.s: seeing my avatar, I don't use c++ anymore. I've just grew with Python haha10 -
I love Mikrotik. Just fucking love them. I also love my residential fiber service. Small company. Synchronous 125M service. No caps. Bandwidth is always there.
BUT... They use PPPOE (seriously guys?), and the IP changes on *every single re-connect*. Also: no IPv6 support. I know. I don't need it. But I want it.
Enter DNSMadeEasy's DDNS, Hurricane Electric's 6to4 tunnel service, and my Routerboard AH100x4. I wrote a script that runs on the router whenever my IP changes. It updates my DDNS record, updates my 6to4 tunnel IP using HE's API, and updates my local 6to4 interface's IP.
It just works. My public IPv4 may change, but the /48 IPv6 networks on my LAN side stay fully routeable.4 -
Anyone of you use Jetbrains IDE‘s? I love them but sometimes, they have weird bugs and it just triggers me everytime so hard, I could take my Computer and throw it out the window.11
-
if non dev boss walks in to my office one more time to tell me how I'm crushing it, I will lose my mind. for the love of God, just let me work undisturbed, and stop trying to be my 'bro'.
-
I just love that my entire project is dead in the water because firebase/database is completely broken on iOS, and im apparently the only person in the world that uses it because there is 0 prio to get it fixed it seems.
(more specific, the react-native-firebase library)
(yes it is a confirmed library issue) -

I gotta say I really love the beauty of being able to merge math, code, and hardware all in a well tuned symphony to make something awesome. Building an LQR controller for a custom quadrotor flight controller and it is just so much fun! -
I'm in love with Webpack but jeeeeeesus when it breaks in obscure ways maaaaan
Like, I got it working earlier, no errors, everything looks great... aaaaand website is blank. No page, no source, not even anything in the console, just blank. Over an hour later... turns out removing the output target fixes it. Why? No idea. Nothing.2 -
Its hidden skill time.
At work, as a method of concentration I write code while singing gangnam style or some other similar song.
Perfectly and with no discernable accent even though i am Mexican American.
I also do it with Stromae songs(because I love french, not as much his music)
This is something that I learned in Portuguese class at hs :V which eventually led me to be able to survive conversations with my friends from Brazil without getting lost.
Languages are cool, just wish I was able to properly speak more. I love languages, but just stick to English and Spanish since those are the only ones that I speak fluently.
Wife speaks french, and she has tried teaching me even though I really can't get the hang of it just yet. Instead she showed me how to read it.
German and Japanese are on the list as well.4 -
So I love my pixel 2 xl, best phone I've had (not saying that just because it's the newest btw)
But fuck me do I hate how it dictates what wallpaper needs a light and dark theme, plus when you have a dark theme on, why does the navbar stay white in applications but the notification pane change... I love google but come on -,-
And yes it's a minor thing but it's the small things that are the worst imo7 -
Idk about you but when I get half a dozen opvotes from a single account and it seems to be a female, I fall in love a little bit.
Now, if I could just spare time for an actual relationship...7 -
god, I just reported a post accidentally while trying to mute it... no prompt or anything
this app/site sure needs some love... should I do an open source version, but somehow still monetized in an ethical manner?8 -
Has anyone heard of the crystal programming language?I just found out about it today and I think I'm in love 😍2
-
Was watching the Google live event. Must confess that I'm highly disappointed with the looks of the Pixel 2 . I guess 2017 is just not the year for Google! I mean I love the software improvements but let's admit it that inspite of us being software devs , we ourselves love good design! The pixel 2 just does not make the cut according to me. It looks like a brick. Google does need some hardware devs!10
-
I love the reason why my "realtime buses"-app needs to have access to my position "always"... wonder what other parts of the app he just copied from somewhere, not knowing what it does!
-
I really love Ubuntu Mono and similar fonts, because they're nice to look at while coding, so I tried to use it in Emacs.
Man, what it produced is just... disgusting! I couldn't see anything even in Ubuntu Mono "normal" version (not bold, not italic) with size 10 (my normal size).
In smaller size I almost couldn't recognize characters in code, in bigger it yelled at me I'm blind. Wtf emacs...6 -
[worst part of a lang i love]
Not really the language, but i hate how sbt works, it compiles small projects instantly, but really slows down at a certain size, and it seems very deterministic. It stays the same speed after that, but once you hit that project size it just immediately starts being slow. -
WARN: Heavy Sarcasm ahead
I just *LOVE* taking calls non-fucking-stop on my fucking birthday, ALL DAY LONG(!!!!!) because our most *DEAREST* fucking client can't get theirs up unless they escalate shit to the highest levels, namely the fucking CEO who loves to sell the company's self esteem just so that he can gag on the clients penis. Best part? It happened RIGHT.WHEN.MY.VACATION.STARTED.
*I LOVE MY JOB SOOOO MUCH*3 -
!Rant and i also might be late to the party. But i love pipewire. I tried it out yesterday, installation was straightforward and it just works.
(let's see how long it takes, until i go back to pulseaudio though)2 -
Decentralized, block chain based Bitcoin Trading Software!
I just love it!
No for real now, I'm very excited about WebAssembly and the benefits of it! Can't wait to see games running on it!2 -
I JUST got my stickers!! Thank you so much @dfox and Tim!! Absolutely love it!! Cant wait to get 100 or even 1000 ++s!2
-
I was working as a web developer from 2 year. That was so difficult.
I just change my job to start in a new society last monday.
Not web at all. I'm learning a new langage. And I love it.
Maybe software development it what I must do.
Hopping keep this job.4 -
I think I am in love with Progressive Web Apps concept and user experience with mobile operating systems, as it is easy to install (as simple as a shortcut on home screen). Just want to know if there are any downsides of using it? Compared to full app install?
I would love to see some games which can be played offline as PWA6 -
I've gotten rent-free places in so many member's heads of this platform.
They want me to leave or feel bad about myself. But I just can't. How can I give in after so many months of work.
I just love it.
I'm staying here forever my dudes.2 -
Not using all my time. I really don’t apply myself sometimes. Sometimes that means not using work time efficiently, sometimes that means I get stuck on a simple problem for too long because I don’t think through it. Also, I’m trying to love coding more. It takes a lot of code to get a small result sometimes, and that’s ok. I got hooked on being able to do big things with little code from the start. As we get better we know there’s more that can be done, but we are more familiar with just how much work it really is. At the same time we are more capable than ever of doing it. Just gotta embrace the suck, then love your finished product.1

Just went to my first Ruby Meetup in Lyon, FR 😍
It was so weird to actually meet people that fully understand why you love Ruby so much, since they love it too!
I'm so envious of the people whose job is to develop in this language, I really hope my next job will be about working with Rails too *.*1 -
So, I just downloaded Enki, and I love it. It is like the duoLingo of coding. Most other platforms don't hold you to a regimen, but Enki does. My favorite is the "Does it work in IE8" game! I really hope to sharpen my skills with this app.
-
I hate it when designers just LOVE to use blend mode multiply everywhere, and the client is looking at the website in IE asking why it's not the same as design.
-
I already developed with Angular, I thought it was cool. ReactJS, I thought it was good. But I've just discovered Vue with vanilla Javascript and I'm completely in love.9
-
Dear Microsoft, I see what you were going for, and I love you for it; but for the love of god, please fucking fix the clusterfuck that is Nuget.
I use a private feed for client work, and I have the public source registered too, so why would installing a new .core template from Nuget fail just because it tried the private feed first and shit itself?
It really shouldn’t be this hard.
Sincerely,
Brolls -
Today is going to be a shitty day, I can already tell!
As much as I want to love cpanel as it makes things easy, it just gets so hard to make things awkward! -
I love that I need to fucking babysit the fucking CI pipeline because, half of the times, it just RANDOMLY FAILS and I need to hit that fucking retry button like a 19th century kid respooling a loom.6
-
I love Azure. But WHY do I need to add vCores SQL for more logs/io ?
Why is it even limited ?
So no, I won't add 350$/month for 1 more vCore just for some more Mbits of log io bandwich6 -
Why use a standard tab width when we can all have our own unique preferences? Let's make it a surprise party every time we open a file. I just love adjusting my editor settings for every repo. Keeps me on my toes!2
-
I just learned the existence of Laravel. It made my life 1000 times better. I will just abandon the normal PHP coding workflow, I will juet use Laravel now. I love it.5
-
trying to analyze and debug code from a wordpress plugin -> fml!
i should just dump this shit and make my own. oh, no time and budget, no problem, i love to spend hours reading someones code and beeing inefficient as fuck ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
(i suggested to do it on our own a few weeks ago, now i should fix it till end of the day)2 -
I love it when context gets lost in company chat when there are multiple conversations going on at the same time.
> we just got our cloud provider bill for feb, half of what it was last month.
> sounds like a missing environment variable. looking into it1 -
I really have to say i love and hate dev rant :( Why is the feed so so so so bad. I see almost the same posts everytime/day. Even when i refresh. And its not better when looking at today/week/month/alltime. Is the Devrant just not maintslned anymore or are there just soo few users.
On the other hand though i find it veey enterteining and relateable at times. Much better then some twitter/insta etc .. i hope devrant will get more love from the devs and more user :)4 -
After spending hours on just one code and not able to make it run,
here I am on devrant and announcing,
Life is Shit, Shit is life,
Coding is love, but being a coder is shit.2 -
I use qemu/KVM on Linux. I love being able to do basically all VM operations with commands. So when I need to use my Windows VM(ie: connect to a WebEx), I pop it on with an integration I wrote for my keyboard launcher(mutate), or just execute an alias over SSH, and connect via VNC. When I'm done, I just shit it down. At this point, Windows has been reduced to just a windowed program that I run.7
-
Coding
-------------
I started just for a time pass. Then slowly
liked that.. Now I love it...
I think...... I'm addicted🙃 -
I love using Windows but who the fucking fuck had this fucking idea to hibernate when I press shutdown
I just want my laptop fully turned off and not opening everything that was opened before I shut it down.
I mean it's nice that there is a setting for it if only it would fucking work!1 -
Honestly, I love using the GUI and the terminal in combination when it comes to Git. I feel like I'm faster doing just general commits (hint ctrl+enter commits your work).
But I use the terminal when I start getting into the weeds, like checking out, resetting and doing stuff with my branches.1 -
Just saw new rick and morty episode solo awesome spoilers in this not rantish post but the post apocalypse episode is siccckkk I love it
-
OMG, Usually I'll be the first to protect Visual Studio. (I do love it, I love to have everything inside same IDE).
But since last update....
Lunch VS 2022with your project.
Start a new SQL querry via SQL servers explorer
Execute querry.
Now, try to fucking close thios not saved SQL file. It will ask you, if you wanna save bla bla.
And then... VS just dies.... Goes in full COPU usage mode for 2-3 MINUTES lol.
Only happens with unsaved SQL files, while connexion is opened AND you have an opened solution -
Hey everyone. I am a recent graduate of 2015. At a company as a front-end dev. I really want to get into the game industry or just work for one. I love Ai, obsessed with it. I am proficent in c++ too. I don't care if I stay as a front-end dev I like that too. I just want I work for something i obsess and passionate about. Any advice?1
-
I used to love coding. I have ASD and it was one of those rare things I could just do for hours without realising the time. I used to do my own projects, or at least plan them.
Now it's my job to code (& design when I don't have a pleb project, software engineer). I still kinda like to code but as I *have to* code, I just hate it.
Every fun thing that turns to work just turns to torture. Maybe I'll break my arm slipping this winter and have to have an extended sick leave...3 -
I love how using the windows authenticator app sometimes just ends with "denied" status despite doing everything right to approve the request because, of course. Do it again.
-
I actually don't hate Microsoft that much , its a great tool when come to stream and download pirated movies and games too , I just hate it whet it cause interference with work, slowly ness, turn of issues, I hate the refresh feature which I through they I'll remove it on win 10, love the multiscreen feature on win10, love that they support Linux env build now,

I love searching for things like "which is the best online learning site" on the Internet and seeing strongly opinionated answers. Like, I don't need your political correctness telling me that it depends! I just need your opinion based on your personal experience! This is why I love Reddit and other discussion sites.

When you love react you gotta hate angular and when love angular you have to hate react. It can't be a 2 sided love. It's just what I feel.4

I just LOVE working with GraphQL now
Last time I was so in love with a techno, it was introduction of LinQ in net2 -
- I love blowing my mind. Even if it is the most confusing thing. Things like security mechanisms, neurons' behaviors, mathematics (even tho I hate it when I fail lol), electronics, medical terminology and chemistry.
- I love collecting rare coins, personally never-seen stones and put them into my collection. I love to be a designer. Not only on my laptop. I have a book shelf and within that book shelf I put stones that create the yin yang sign while pushing the books to two sides. That makes them look like they are levitating. I have stones (including obsidian) that create a triangle and a knife hanging down the wall of my room.
- I love visiting touristic, historic, naturally-beautiful but also non-touristic (non-touristic? yes. by that I mean visiting e.g. the areas of touristic cities which are dangerous, because you can easily fall down off of a slippery ground and take serious injuries) places around the globe, talk to complete strangers in public (I am trying to be an extrovert), take pictures with my camera and collecting antiquities.
- I love taking risks (no. I don't play any poker games etc on the internet) without trying to put other people in risk. Driving insanely with whatever I have. Car, bike, you name it.
- I love reading books. Books that are about human psychology, fantasy novels and books about programming languages.
- I love to cook (I am at the beginning).
- I love to use the konMari method of tidying up my room.
- I love plants.
- I love having everything in my room tidied up (even if I am too busy with other stuff and skip this cleaning process for a week upto a month sometimes. Sorry, room.).
- I love doing sports. But mostly sport that I have never tried before. This can be, because of my greedy wish for an adrenaline kick. That led me into taking a balloon flight at 4 am (sunrise) and to paragliding at sunset above Mediterranean sea btw. (I am normally afraid of flying, but paragliding was awesome).
- I love swimming. Like, you cannot pull me out of the sea for a minimum of 2 hours, if it is not important.
- I love laying above the sea water and let the sea carry me to somewhere else.
- I love being alone. I love the silence. I love to be free in my thoughts.
- I love watching the sunset, the light that shines through the forest, the moonlight and the stars at night.
- I love dreaming. No, like, lucid dreaming for example.
- I love being open to any opinions.
- I love to learn about other people's views about the world and their religion.
- I love pets and would do anything to keep them alive when they are ill. It hurts my heart seeing them like this.
- I love watching demonic "A: Holy shit! Did you see this thing, too?! B: Yes!" YouTube videos just for the fun of it, but I hate horror movies and games.
- I love trying out new things. The creation of music and video for example.
- I love to give my hair and beard a shape, if I am too lazy to go to the barbershop lol. By that I don't mean just going to the barbershop, but taking an electric razor and cutting my hair myself even if I get bad results from time to time that can be corrected by letting any family member tell me in which area of of my head the hair problem is.
- I don't like disco clubs.
- I don't like toxic people even though I can be a quite toxic person myself without realizing it. If I appear toxic to you, inform me about it. Having so much testosterone in that moment, can make me do things that I don't want to do.
- I don't like drugs even tho I have to admit that I am trying a few from time to time (maybe 6 months in-between) to have a dopamine kick. I am not an addict.
- I hate myself for things that I did in the past.
- I used to watch MMA videos etc.
- I used to use a telescope, but I can't find it anymore.
- I used to have a microscope, but I can't find it anywhere and besides of that the seller did literally piss in it before selling it to me many years ago. Don't want to touch it tbh.
- I used to play games, but I don't enjoy games anymore. That makes me feel sad.
- I miss the old moments of my life.
In conclusion:
I like how things went and go so far. It changed me so much. It made me a good and a bad person. I became more open and confident, but it also particularly made me a leader who can say "fuck off" in a bad way to his family. I would like to undo this particular part of me.5 -
I just love it when there is a power outage just after we all go home for the weekend. Coming back to dead servers is the best!
-
I just love when my IT lead decides to take himself off of projects to work on his personal, now work project, and leave me with two projects that I am the main dev on. 😑😑😑😑

Can't believe I am actually falling more and more in love with spacemacs.. it just keeps delivering2

Have any of you moved from Web application development to more deep and complex stuff? I mean without finding it boring. I just moved to data and analytics at my job. And in a few months we will be getting into AI and machine learning. I just don't know if I'm going to find it boring or not. I really enjoy and still love web development.1
-
Recently i switched from using git with gui tools to just console, and love the speed and reliability increase, but guys do you really resolve merge conflicts in console? Is it effective/worth getting used to?4
-
Am I the only one who loves documenting their work? I mean I just absolutely love making Github gists, man!
It helps in the backend-frontend integration and in communication between teams that is necessary for frictionless progress towards our common goal.6 -
Thought about startup.. Strange but literally saying no single coin had in my pocket.. Still have love for startup.. But u know what no project no idea no team.. Still struggling for startup.. Fortunately few days back got proposal of govt project.. One min game literally coin replaced his face.. But after some days grant procedure issue pending sucks.. Still have love for startup.. Suddenly got a thought can I do it after grant but I know I have devRant support.. So still continue to love for startup ;-)
Just few days are remaining and waiting for it.. -
I like scrum. I really love working that way. And imo the daily scrum meeting is pretty useful.
But now we have two of them every day. I don't know how to feel about it :/ the one mornings is good and all but the one in the noon just kills my focus1 -
1) For me code is a way of expressing my thoughts akin to rap. It's just that your thoughts has to be precise if you want to write "good" code.
2) Creating anything out of a thin air has certain charm to it.
3) I love problem solving and even if I don't love it, if I've got a certain problem I'll have to solve it anyway and most of the computer related problem can be solved via code. -
So I just saw this 'rant' where there was a link for a book/text that is called 'intermezzos', so far it's freaking amazing, love to the person whom 'redirected' me to it and especially the author, yaaay Rust here we go! :-)

What are the best practices when making a blogging website?
I'm creating an addition to my personal website to include a blog, and want to follow the best practices for it. Do I just save everything in a JSON? Or do I just make every entry a "page" in Gatsby/React? What have you all done? Would love to see some examples.4 -
Hey I feel the need to commend gmail's web ui. One thing I love is when it's possible to control gui programs with just keyboard and gmail got it done right. I know I know oldfag ahahahaa, whatever may you mouse lovers all get carpal and anal tunnels.1

Why I love to code?
1. The only thing I feel like I have control over (thanks to control loops XD).
2. Feeling like god when my code works.
3. I just love it, no reason needed, just pure love for it.1 -
I got back from my small 3 day vacation Sunday and I also decided to just take a break and relax before I hop back into my lil project I’m working on but it makes me feel like shit for taking so long to get back to it. Like I know I need breaks but I feel like I’m not good if I take breaks like this Idk don’t get me wrong I fuckin love programming more than anything but i just don’t want to force myself to work on something even if I do love it.

Today I wrote my first small python application as an exercise:
Scraping all post EuroJackpot draws from a website, save them in a database, sort them, some checks and do some combinations. Everything quite clean in classes and functions.
And the "application" is just 100 lines big. I love it so far how much can be accomplished with just a few lines. -
Oh I just gotta love how low quality selenium is. Gotta love the fact that sometimes you need to commit your code 5 times before selenium tests do not fail completely randomly and the whole commit is rollbacked. Like I don't fucking have other shit to do other than wait for these retarded tests to finish just to expect that with 90% probability they are going to fail because selenium is a huge pile of poop when it comes to UI tests. Also testers do not seem to give a single fuck since they just keep writing more of those instead of making old test more stable, fucking awesome.

So until now I ran bitwarden official docker image on my server but as I forgot to create snapshot before updating yesterday and the whole network got fucked up :D I installed bitwarden-rs (Rust implementation) instead... Aaand it is sooooo good! It takes only around 20MB of RAM instead of 1GB+ and it is just lightning fast. Also replaced Apache with nginx for the first time and I love it so far.5

don't you just love it when you have to fix a system that consists on unnecessary junk code, horrible/lack of indentation, no documentation and the clients says "I don't know what happened fix it and I'll post you good"
I mean, I live for this shit man! -
Any code i write in Android studio.
That piece of shit would just go take a nap in the middle of my coding . I can no longer get response from mouse or buttons
Its bloody painful. I love it4 -

Hell yeah, I love that feeling! I have absolutely no idea about working with the LEMP stack (nginx in particular) and I'm slowly figuring out how to get it working. Even tho I just noticed that chrome doesn't support npn for http/2 and that I am still up (GMT+1) I wanna continue working in this project. Man, I love that feeling <31 -
Man I love composer, I really do, but sometimes, I wish it would just bloody download and load in the extensions for PHP for me... I know, I'm the laziest dev around, but typing php-curl is a lot of work 😡
-
so am I the only one who prefers these thin flat keyboards over those big clunky mechanical ones? because I just love how they feel and sound and I can't stand it when I have to type on a big keyboard :P2

I was just curious about this: how many of you guys uses emacs/vim? Is it your main editor or just for quick editing? Any specific reason besides familiarity?
I ask this because I'm a late adopter of emacs. It is my quick editor (I use jetbrains IDEs). Fell in love with mu4e and twitter-mode, but org-mode was the deal breaker.3 -
Hello, I just found ransom and I love it. It's just like tweeter... But it's better, and it's for developers
Good job guys :D -

Feature request: could we use the volume buttons for scrolling? 9gag app style? Personally, I love lying down and just using the buttons to scroll down to eternity. I'm willing to code it myself, for Android. @dfox2 -
My confession is that I love doing OPS where I can fix an issue I caused myself and people are actually grateful for just having it working.
All other cases not so much.... But please team don't identify me and put me on support 24/7 :'( -
Fuck you, linux modules!! I know tinkering with you was going to be dangerous, but I've already spent 4 hours just rebuilding virtual machines from every screwup.
I personally love the architecture of Linux, it tickles my fancy and it's super elegant... But fuck you!1 -
I love listening podcasts while doing stuffs, but I just can't pay attention to it when I'm programming. My mind focus on the code and ignore whatever I'm listening :/1

Just throwing it out there but curious how many of us Aussie Devs are around the Melbourne area?
Would love to meet each other for a piss up... I mean meetup for a few lemonades and quiet games of pool :-3 -
I’m in love with Reality Winner. I don’t know, there is just something uncanny about her. The age, the eyes, the look, the whole fucking story, US government, her pink AR-15, I just… don’t know. I feel manipulated and mesmerized. I feel like I’m Odysseus, and she’s a siren. I don’t even know _what_ is so attractive in her, whatever it is… dear Reality, it worked. Congratulations.

CSS, I particularly don't hate it but i don't love it either. As a React developer I love JS but I don't really like CSS based UI development i mean it's not bad but just level of satisfaction i get with a running logical thing in JS vs creating some UI stuff with CSS does varies. So I want to improve my CSS skills. Anyway can anyone suggest in what topic order I should learn CSS, I can do some basic stuff with flexbox and sometimes with grid but I think I lack some essential concepts.

Is the devRant Swag Store website made from scratch or is it a Shopify template? Just curious because I love the layout and how clean it is.4

Just learnt machine learning
First thing first, i applied it to csgo roulette
Got to say that i love it.
Doesn't always gets it right, but meh .. im ok with it so far5 -
Don't know why but I just love laptop keyboard. Not specific to what type of keyboard, just the fact it is a keyboard on my laptop... No wonder my neck pain is getting worse everyday :(
-
I believe that there's some evil dark magic in the BEAM that detects if the user or developer is on a non *nix machine and then purposefully throws all kinds of strange errors or just fucking blows itself up for no reason. Take the shit to a *nix machine and it just works like magic and is easy to work with which is part of the reason why I love it and the ecosystem.
-
As much as I love Linux, it just sucks to use its GUI for development.
Maybe I'm just using the wrong distro, anyone knows something better than Ubuntu for Web dev?12 -
Hi I love Manjaro so for this Christmas I have just installed it on my computer. But I don't why I can't turn on the Wi-Fi.
:(
If someone can help I will be glad3 -
Procrastinating as I had to deliver a full working Android app and it'd Backend to feed data to it. I had 6 months. I pulled 2 all nighters and finished the entire project in just one week. I and I totally ducked it up. No backend optimization means with 100 users online the server will go stupid and don't know how to handle the pressure. The Android app just doesn't work on some devices due to a poor error handling. So yeah, I totally love to procrastinate, but I'll just leave that for later.

I love working on adhoc features that nobody is asking for but would greatly improve user experience rather than the actual jiras assigned to me, you guys do this or is it just me ?5

Backend development!
I love my little services like a cobweb with solid bases of communication, security, logging and measuring. It can't get more fulfilling to build a service that is used by just more than one frontend. -
Man, I love having a software factory. Every day something different. Today I'm developing with Laravel, and it's an honest framework. It doesn't do anything too much or anything less. Just enough.
It's good to use things that know their place.1 -
Rant !
I seriously do have a love-hate relationship with programming.
About a couple of hours ago ,I was so happy learning new things and already planned I can make something so awsum with this stuff and then when I sat down to code it didn't work .Damn it , going through just about 10 lines of code for a couple of hours . Googling it ,no luck .3 -
After years of using an android wear on a regular basis I've gotten used to it, I use pujie black for a simplistic watch face and love it, I answer calls on it (although it doesn't have a speaker), and reading texts has been a lifesaver at times. I initially had an issue with the battery life but that was probably my fault for creating a really animation heavy watch face on watchmaker. Anyways while I love the thing it's really excessive (i know original argument huh?), I would love a smart band that can do all the simple things ( tell time make calls and display/read notifications ) and some awesome IoT remote functionality. After some research I found the nex band (I had actually seen this band often prior on Amazon but always just skipped over it cause I assumed that it was a fitness tracker, lesson learned again, don't assume). It looked promising, unfortunately it lacked a few key points that are essential to me. It was missing the most obvious thing, a clock, the band is split up into 4-5 rgb displays so there isn't much room for a clock. Second there is a proprietary clip on micro usb adapter (Ughhhhhh). Finally it it looks too niche and bulky. I'm keeping an eye on it cause i would love it if they at least fixed the clock and appearance issue as I don't travel much so the adapter would just sit on my nightstand anyways. Does anyone know of anything similar to the nex, everytime I search anywhere I get nothing but fitness or motion trackers.

I just dont. I love my work so I work way to much: fulltime Job as dev project lead in a big advertisment Company, additional to that i work part time as a teacher in a school for it students (15h/week) and then I have 2 customers as freelancer for the weekends :)2

1) I really can't into math and it's been pretty easy to hide it while working as a dev.
2) I just love to create. As soon as I noticed I'm really bad at storytelling I found out I can create by coding.
3) THE FEELING OF GAINING EXPERIENCE AND GETTING BETTER IS JUST SO GREAT I'M ADDICTED TO IT -
Hey everyone,
Hope everyone is doing well & of course staying safe, Well today i'd love to get some opinions and some advice. I've been using Mac OS and Win10 for quite a while now and would love to move on and perhaps try something new :-) Linux Mint or Ubuntu, Would love to know Which one would you recommend? as far as i'm aware it's basically just look and feel that makes the difference? Also what possible skills can i learn from using them? :-)
Thank you for taking the time to read my question! i appreciate it heaps!
Cheers :-)19 -
I used parse-server and services back when it was a web service at an internship, just loved the way it did things it did. Backend as a service was new to me as a mobile application developer. 5 years down the lane. My first go-to backend is Parse. I know firebase does XYZ things better. But I love the simplicity and openness of parse.
Community picked up parse as a self hosted open source service and its still going strong.
Just love the possibility of starting a mobile project and not having to worry about setting up a whole web service to cater to it.
