Spent 2 weeks writing code in different services
Today D-Day for integrating all of it. And guess what, Friday evening and it's not working.

Fucking hell I'm turning into one of those pricks that think everyone is less competent than them, how do I go back? I guess I'm not as humble as I thought I was ._.

You know what really boils my piss?
Clients who email in all caps.
"URGENT HELP, CAN'T RECEIVE EMAILS"
Followed by two lines of bitching about how this keeps happening and they'll move elsewhere if it's not fixed asap at 11pm.

Incredible that these companies with literally no product, and barely a website (if any) come around offering 100K+ jobs

They have funding out of their ass but literally NO real-world value... it's amazing to me.

Guess it really is not what you can do but who you know.

10K bump but salary is probably still below market for the skills I have... Most likely reason? Trump tax cuts...

I can't showcase my skills in interviews assuming I get any... Not motivated in cramming or studying those useless algorithm questions that have little correlation to actual work.

Whatever.... job pays the bills pretty well... Sorta boring as I'm like the biggest fish on the whole team but that's also the upside I guess... May not be true but I think I'm pretty hard to fire...

So now it's sorta 20% work 80% life... So guess I'm done exploring and just gonna exploit...

We have all experienced inheriting a project and crying because of quality of coding. Somehow the project works but you can't explain how.

I guess I will not blame the previous developer. I guess in most cases it's the teacher who teaches that horrible method of coding.

I may be a self taught developer. But I can gladly say that I know how to code. However I can't say the same about my professor. Who makes you add percentage based margins and paddings (CSS) And make a fluid layout calling it responsive.

Fuck you Professor.

A year since the Group Manager stepped into the position, 4 team leads have moved to other companies.
He is known to be politician/manipulative..

Guess what, Now there's a new Team Lead position and I was offered it.

It will be a step up for me, from senior engineer, and in other circumstances I would take the job in a heartbeat.

I guess it is not the time to step into leadership role.

Accidentally reported my friend on devrant. I was messing with him and I expected the report to require some type of a reason. Guess not.

Some people hate microsoft edge so much, even they only use it to download a browser. In fact i do that too. But then i download .pub file and its default application is edge. I guess edge now has a plus value. Since firefox does not support epub natively.

Since last update (version 63) Google chrome forces all *.dev domains to use https. Guess who used a *.dev domain for his local development virtual machine and now have to switch to *.local ...

Removing the HSTS Rule from chrome seems not to be possible and surprisingly I could not use a self signed SSL certificate to make it working again.

Done it once or twice when finishing up a feature for a presentation/delivery the next day.

I'm leaning on the side of Not Worth It because I'd rather not be sleep deprived and dumb in brainy brain when interacting with the client and demoing my other stuff.

I guess it's usually when my perfectionism flares up that I'm likely to do stuff like that.

Will consider an all-nighter if it's reeeally necessary but there's few scenarios I can imagine where that is warranted. Maybe when working on a very serious security flaw or something of that nature. Most stuff can wait a couple of days...

Our system is supposed to go live today, and of course the customer waited till the last day to test it.. Guess which system is currently not working on the test instance because the test database is offline for a whole day due to migration

Ahhh... Waking up Monday morning.... To see a bunch of text messages... and new ones coming in every second... on my phone because another prod issue that was caused by a weekend release... That was supposed to fix a prod issue...

O well not my code, not my problem... It's nice I guess I'm getting less involved and sorta have my own domain of work.

Honestly... just discipline. We're not addicts (unless any of you are I guess) but if you need to focus then just have a quiet word with yourself.
