I hate myself. Really.
Last week I wrote a function to handle file uploads and at some point I left this very useful comment.

Imagine yourself exploring Medium, looking for some new awesome tools to try out.
You accidentally find the new, promising programming language. It called Blow. It promises itself to be “idiomatic”, “minimalistic”, “simple” and “handsome”. And it also compiles to Electron. You decide to give it a try.
It has its own package manager, simple and idiomatic – every package is “blow add” away. But it’s only three packages available: the “blowsay”, just like “cowsay”, the “this”, printing The Blow Manifesto and “blue”, which is simplistic, simple and minimalistic idiomatic handsome functional frontend framework built with simplicity in mind.
You want to build a todo app, so you type “blow add blue” and press enter.
Following Medium articles written by some guy wearing Ray-Bans, you managed to finally put a todo app together, after seven hours of straight up coding and fighting that simple and idiomatic syntax, trying to make it do what you need. Alright, it’s time to build it.
It has built-in task runner named “job”.
So you type “blow job todo”.
You spending three hours more doing “blow job this”, “blow job that”, trying to blow job everything you see. You’re tired and mad at those damn blow job hipsters created that. You literally suck at programming in that.
Everything falls apart. Things doesn’t work. And after another “ENOENT 0() 0x628 NOT_SUPPORTED”, you give up, admitting that you’ve really sucked at this.6 -

I've always been anxious about putting my stuff on GitHub.
However, I did upload a project of mine there.
Thoughs few minutes after uploading it:
"Omg, is anyone judging how bad my code is?"
"I'm sure they will criticize it."
"O shit, I forgot a // TODO in there."
"O shit did I upload my credentials by mistake?"
"Does this commit message sound right?"
"Should I commit more often?"
"Do I commit too often?"8 -
On the 18th October 2021 I had to hastily write some magic numbers into our code.
I added a comment saying "TODO: add a damn enum to make this selection clear"
Today, I refactored this module... and I used a damn enum.
Good things happen – have a nice weekend yall10 -
Today is a great day for me! Today I've reached my weight goal - 99.9 . That's right guys - this nerd can proudly say that he's lost 20kg since last Nov!
Boi does that feel amazing.
So yeah guys, listen up. If your weight is <100 - appreciate that! Your hearts aren't in trouble, you can bend easily to put your socks on, you can sit with your legs crossed, you can do sooo many things! Enjoy it. And don't let it go easily. Don't think like I did: "meeh, it's just one more kilo -- I'll tackle it down later". It's a // TODO. It'll never happen!12 -

Technical debt is real, it is a bitch, and so are clients to expect to 'see' changes every week.

Who else agrees that the play store should have a section which tells if an app needs a mandatory login to use it ? Like why the hell does a simple offline planner todo app need you to sign-up if you don't wanna use cloud backup. Jeez the user just trusted you by spending valuable time and bandwidth downloading your app. You owe it to him to show him some features of the app before shoving a sign up in his face. As an app developer myself I really think that this kind of behaviour turns off more users than anything else.2

Don’t work from exact place you eat everyday or sleep or entertain.
If you can’t focus set timer from 15 minutes to 1 hour and do something else that is not engaging your brain the same way your work does.
Go for a walk.
Take a break from electronic devices.
Take a shower.
Take a nap.
Take a dump.
Make a list of things todo before you eat.
Make groceries.
Clean your house a little.
Make a laundry.

Recruiting front end right now… I’m tiered of this BS.
95% of applicants: “hey I don’t understand what you want, but look at my cool, ToDo app in <INSERT ANY framework>”
“Ok, now add a quick search in your todo project”
“Oh wow, it’s like 5 days work lol and should be managed at back end. I Shouldn’t care”.
How HOW these idiots even have a job ?

Might be nothing for others, but I finally published my Vue website with the following setup:
1. Vue inside docker
2. Nodejs API inside docker
3. MongoDB inside docker
4. Nginx as reverse proxy
5. Let's Encrypt
6. NO I WILL NOT SHARE THE LINK, don't want to be hacked lol and it is for personal use only.
But I'd love to thank devRant members who have helped me reach this point, two months ago I was a complete noob in Vue and a beginner in NodeJs services, now I have my own todo website customized for my needs.
Thank you :)26 -

this code is messy .. it has to be refactored..
abstact those classes to commom interfaces .. create a base class for all those common classes .. make this a parameter, make that a setting.. generalize this, pass a behaviour to that.. separate responsobilities..
hmm .. need to handle that special case .. let's just add a temp method for now to get it compiling .. //todo this later .. maybe add a couple virtual bools to handle the base class behaviour
238 compilation errors! .. let's do a static var for now on this.. and just add this for backward compatibility .. maybe hardcode that dll name, I know it'll NEVER change..
aah finally, all compiles..
oh..
this code is messy .. it has to be refactored.. -

Here's what being in a rut is like:
You wake up to the alarm, you waste an hour or two in bed stalling browsing social shit. Finally got out of bed. You have a todo list. You ignore it. Get something to eat. Open Netflix or some brain numbing shit while having breakfast. A few hours go by, you're still watching Netflix and switching to browsing social shit in-between so your brain is numb as much as possible. It's lunch time, you're supposed to cook something, nah, I will order something. Oh, it's bedtime, let's make a todo list and go to bed and start over tomorrow...5 -
Fuck I hate bloated app permissions but I guess todo lists that know who you most likely to chat to when taking a dump is what we get for demanding everything for free. I get why Snapchat wants so much, I just find it fucking ironic that this is from a company that founded itself on the concept of privacy 🤦♂️7

I swear to god if I see another goddamn todo list tutorial im gonna fucking switch careers. "BUSCAR TODO"
This Spanish translation for "SEARCH ALL" just tricked me into thinking that a translation is missing 😅2 -
The problem when you fall asleep while coding...
you may have really good thoughts before you pass out, you want to formulate them properly so "you" in the morning can get to work immediately, so you close your eyes just for a sec to think. And then you wake up at 10am and you have no idea what was supposed to be the ending of that TODO.
shit5 -
"Finished" my first PWA today. I bet most of you think PWAs are stupid for valid reasons but I wanted to try something new. And I'm quite pleased with the result even though it's only a simple todo app. Wrote everything from scratch, no dependencies/frameworks/libraries! 😊

A colleague had to show up for a demo in 10 minutes, and urgently needed to fix some CSS.
I told her the right way would take more than 10 minutes. The quick and dirty way was to add an `!important`.
I made her write a comment:
`// TODO: Fix this hack made for the demo dated blah blah`4 -

Made my first Node.js Todo list today! Got myself a new front end design tool, Bootstrap Studio (50% off). Learned about REST, using Node as an API and MongoDB and Angular! Had a lot of fun learning and I would recommend it to anyone that's a Node.js beginner. I want to do a video tutorial series on Node.js, is that a good idea?9

I've been teaching the new interns. Some are progressing really nicely and understanding the caveats and concepts of the frameworks, but others are a big pain in the kernel
I sent them some code outlining what they would do, filled with `// TODO`'s. Every day I would ask them if they had any questions and they just said they were having some progress. At the end of the week, they say "the code that you sent me doesn't work. I ran it and it didn't do what you said it would do." Well that was your job! My bad for having high expectations I guess1 -

Hi everyone,
I got an hardware question. Im planning on getting a personal home server. I want to use it as a small gitlab server, continues integration, and the like for personal projects.
It has to be power efficient otherwise my dad will start crying.
I want it to be relatively cheap and running linux.
Ive got no clue what the best thing todo is. Should I get a prebuild one or build one myself.
For prebuild ones, what brands should I look at?
For a custom built what hardware do you recommend me?10 -
Is it ok if i create a trello board and create cards quickly without following any type of agile methodology because the project is only for me? I cant spend hours of my time writing exact and precise cards following some standard
Id have cards like Todo Doing and Done
Thats it just so i can keep track quickly and focus most of my time on code
Is this ok8 -
Today at 'Derp & Co' is the end of the last sprint, no one have close all the task asigned. Myself included.
- that sucks...
Because there are task from previos sprints still in TODO that block other tasks.
- oof
But there is more... Yesterday was the deadline of the project. From today and onwards the client get discount.
- oof (but fair to the client)
Management have in mind AT LEAST 4 more weeks of development.
- But... how... wtf?
In 2 weeks part of the hardware we need for the project will return to the client.
- <smash the door and leave>
Management still is asking if we can do it on time...
- yeah... just call the Doctor, we need a TARDIS ASAP2 -

Hello fellow developers!
I know this is devRant, but I don't know of a better community with such diversity of developers like you guys and I need your input.
I decided to go on a language journey. I come from a background of php/javascript and feel the need to expand my horizons.
I'm going to write the same app in each language to get the feel of it and become familiar with the syntax and language concepts.
Since I'm a web developer I'll focus mainly on languages used on the web like: Java, Python, Ruby, etc.. But I want to cover others as well, like Objective-C/Swift, C++/C#.
I'm having trouble figuring out what kind of an app would cover most of the ground. I know the basic guideline for this is a TODO app for web frameworks, but I
don't feel like writing a TODO in Swift or C# really cover what the languages are intended for.
I don't know enough about the environments yet to come up with a good idea.
I want something, that can be language independent but would utilize the power of each language in one part or another and is still simple enough not to require weeks of development.
Does anyone have a brilliant idea what that could be?4 -
This item on my TODO list reads "Finish the paper" but it's more like wishful thinking. I have very few pages available (cuz IEEE still can't afford to give you free pages all the while being fully electronic and each extra page costs like €1000000) and much more to explain. As well, am trying to fit words by removing other words...
Fuuuuuuuck youuuuu toooooo IEEE.24 -

I have the habit of adding //todo comments to my code whenever I need to implement something later. Very useful to just search your code for "todo" and see what is left to do.
That is all very well, but I just searched my project for "todo" and there are SO MANY //todo comments in the third party dependencies...4 -

Cannot talk much about it, but essentially it's faulty software killing randomly one or one up to N servers running elasticsearch...
Conversation between me and a good friend:
Me: No gaming today, work todo.
Him: noooo...
Me: Yes...... Could u go buy some groceries? Household help is sick.
Him: maybe...what u need?
Me: coffee. I need frigging fucking coffee.
Him: ok. How bad is it.......
Me: empty today.
Him: will be at your house in hour. DON'T DO ANYTHING STUPID.

It's funny how good friends immediately sense danger and become very attentive when the lack of coffee and myself is mentioned in one sentence.5 -

1. Slurp some starbucks
2. Do a lil' Meeting

If you’re a developer who seek professional growth, there is no better way than learning other languages, even if nobody really uses them.
Pick a language and spend a weekend reading tutorials and most importantly writing code in it, something like game of life, sudoku solver or todo-list app.
The more alien the language feels the better. Try Clojure, OCaml, Smalltalk, Prolog, Erlang, and also weird esoteric languages like Piet.
Writing code that operates on alien concepts you see there is the quickest way of learning that concepts and reusing them in whatever language you’re making money with. Your professional growth will be immense.23 -
ECMAScript is everywhere, so I thought: Let's do even more inappropriate and insane things with it ;)
...Like using Duktape (small ECMAScript engine) and exposing LoadLibrary/GetProcAddress along with some helper routines to describe the routine's argument types and return type, and finally providing a routine to invoke those routines.
It's a very rough prototype that can handle up to 4 arguments in a 64-bit Windows environment.
Next "todo" is structure handling which will initially be a case of stuffing data into a Buffer() object.
I'm not sure what exactly I'm trying to do with it or why...1 -
There is this colleague working in my team so if I ask her to Todo something for me she will do it but will respond to my email just few minutes before sign off time (4:30pm). Next day during the standup meeting she will inform the manager that the task has completed and it's in my plate now. Since she responded to me just few minutes before signoff time I was not able to deliver the task that I was suppose todo on that day.6

Once upon a time i had a great idea.
Because i couldnt be bothered to do anything productive i created a simple app in the C# that would look into every .js file (from a game that uses it for the gui/main menu) and search for "//todo" lines.
I did it mostly for kicks. I got that idea when i encountered one //todo in a file when i was trying to mod that game.
Yes i know grep exists: fuck you.
It would have taken me more time to learn that than to write that 20 line program...
The result? Over 30 lines of //todo with some briliant pearls in the type of:
>Temp workaround because X
>Workaround for race condition
>Clean that up
>Obsolete
When i return home i will post real quotes. They might be amusing to read...
The game is based on a custom C++ engine. HTML, CSS and JS is used for main menu and some graphical interface in game.
The most amusing thing is that this inefficient sack of chicken shit is powering one of the biggest (no playerbase but unit, world, gameplay vise) rts that i have ever played.
But still in spite of a dead community, buggy gui as shit and other problems i love this game and a lot of other people love it too. It is a great game when it works correctly.

We know we have planned you in for this other project but since we have to deliver them both, can you work on two project at the same time and finish those 20 storypoints in 2 hours?

Does anyone else fall into the 'TODO' trap? I just finished my website (using jekyll) and I've got a stable build that I like and I should probably start writing content for it but at the same time, it would be cool to set up a better color scheme and refactoring the css into sass. Anyone else get caught in the trap?3

Give me a second to get my todo list.
- get a office/server room built
- setup a home kubernetes cluster
- create an open-source ActivityPub whatsapp clone
- unify existing ActivityPub implementations where an account on one can be used on others
- finish dockerssh
- create an irc bridge for signal messenger.
- find a way to fully provision linux workstations fully unattended2 -
Put in my residence permit application and suddenly my todo list got very short. 👀
Wish me luck! 🤞9 -
Every *brand new framework/language* online course starts with writing ToDo app. But in real life there is no really good ToDo app yet1

Went to a food stall, ordered the dishes(very simple and must have dishes in any food stall) in menu, and they replied it not yet available.. coming soon...
I immediately thought that IT world has affected the food industry too..
Now, they have coming soon and TODO in their Menu..
Imagine, waiters telling:
"Sir, the dish you ordered is currently in beta testing phase, and we are working to push it into prod soon. Meanwhile, enjoy the existing features(dishes) provided by our restaurant" -
@dfox
I recently posted a rant containing the tag "$" (php, you know).
But if I search rants with the search pattern "$", the search returns no results.
I guess this has something todo with $ as a special character ;)
Is it a bug or is it a feature? *g*7 -

So last year I started a project, and gave up after 8 months (was an unemployed student, and made my todo list wayyy too long)
Turns out, over those 8 months I wrote over 13.5k lines of coding/ styling, while also spending a couple months revising for, and taking my GCSE exams where I didnt do any programming.
Somehow I was averaging around 2k lines a month and I wish I had that productivity still.3 -
you boubas use todo list apps bloated with spyware to not forget things.
I, the kiki, store my todo list right at the function body.7 -
My manager committed an empty Jenkinsfile on his project (he loves committing empty files or docs with words "TODO" in them). I decided to add the project to Jenkins so at least he sees a red X and failed build on ever branch .... green check? An empty Jenkinsfile is a valid Jenkinsfile?! Damn it Jenkins!2

Hey I want to ask some react project suggestion that are good for interview as an experienced web developer. I don't want to build calculator :(

Slothful cunt, you don't deserve these 7 stars -
Finals will be finally over.
Todo list:
1) Finish Witcher 3
2) Work on Python projects
How long did you spend for witcher 3?
I'm 100 hours into it currently.4 -
So for a side project, I had to understand the reasoning of a former project for this one. I was told it's the most clean and the most reliable I could get.
I scroll in the classes developed, then suddendly in a comment :
"TODO : Hardcoded for now, will be expected to change"
oh fuck me. -
Had my dev job described as a "computer, desk job" in a condescending tone yesterday by a guy trying to convince me to join his pyramid scheme....
// TODO: come up with awesome rant about this so I can look badassundefined todo come up with better tags todo documentation comments shit okay not sure how to tag this shit2 -
Those devs that put TODO comments everywhere in code. When has anyone actually ever seen a TODO and DID it? Put the task in jira/trello/whatever and leave the future source of confusion out of the code base!3
-
Demo driven development.
Fucking nightmare.
Did a simple search for TODO Statements in the code and almost fucking spilt my coffee.
And the best part, they will demo most of this in Sprint review as done.. WTF.
Done means "Ready to Release" not "Ready to Demo".2 -
*phew* 14 hours straight at the office. I was getting giddy towards the end. So much fun to bingework once in a while. ToDo lists are looking pretty empty right now :) ...maybe just chill tomorrow and go talk to people.

My manager put "Architecture Diagram" onto my list of tasks. "Do you have a diagram"? came up in our last call.
No, I don't have a diagram like your useless block diagram that shows nothing of what we've done. Instead I have a ton of wiki pages, real documentation, READMEs in each git repo that are detailed and complete, unless you're repos of empty directories, `.keep` files, empty READMEs and blank "TODO" wiki pages!6 -
How i think i write code

I wrote the todo app some time ago. The code is not beautiful, but the application works perfectly for me. I hope that someone will like it. Enjoy!

How do you handle your tasks? Like do you use Todo list app?
How do your handle your notes and research and snippets?
---
I used to use Standard Notes and then Simple Notes and then now using Joplin to save notes and important information.
I am testing out Everdo for my daily Todo list app. I have tried lots of Todo apps but none of them satisfied me (or maybe I'm just not good at doing tasks).10 -
Need to add a feature to an academic C/C++ QT project. I literally couldn't find a line of comment in the whole project, except for multiple // TODO: make this better.
Made a fast prototype of the new functionality with Python: 1 library, <100 LoC, about 30 minutes. Success!
Trying to get the same functionality to run in plain C/C++: after two hours the third library I tried finally compiles (and works cross-platform). ~250LoC and three hours later I have similar functionality as in the Python code. Can't wait to get this running in the QT application. See you on Monday... -
So I have done some solo projects and some group projects now and I saw that Hacktoberfest was on so I went and signed up. I saw some of the things todo and got overwhelmed with the code on the repo. What do you guys think I should start off with in terms of open source projects. I want to get into some open source projects but don't know what to look for or where to start. Any help would be appreciated.1

Can someone give me good ideas of useful apps ? Preferably ones that i can use free api(s) ( i want to make it open source) . And please don't say todo app or weather app.4
-
So long story short:
I've been told to think about a new feature which is really helpful but it's a bit tricky. Tricky because many edge cases have to be considered. So I've thought about it tried to consider all cases wrote a todo list and was hoping to implement it.
But it came as it should and my coworker got that job :( as always if you really want to implement it yourself ;) -
Question.. architecting a large system. I’ve broken it down to microservices for the DB and rest API / gateway
I want there to be some some processes that run continuously not event driven via rest. Say analytics for example what is the best way todo that? Just another service running on on a server? And said service has its own API? That when the other rest APIs are called could then hop and call the new service?
Or say we had a PDF upload via rest should that service then do the parsing before uploading to DB .. or should the rest api that does the uploading then call another rest api to another service dedicated todo the parsing and uploading to the db?
I think the bigger way to explain the question is the encapsulation between DAL.. data access layer which I have existing.. but then there’s the BLL .. buisness logic layer which I don’t know if it should have its own APIs via own microservices running in the background.10 -
I just noticed something, I wanted to test out flutter so I decided to make a basic Todo application.
I made a Todo app with flutter and Kotlin and what I discovered was that. Flutter apps are very large.
A Kotlin Todo app had a size of less than 25mb while a Flutter Todo app had 60mb. And I didn't use too much design.6 -
- load tests via web
- load tests via api
- figure out why the fuck hibernate started proxying Blob.class after migration rather than using jdbc implementation, like before
- fix ^^
- reconfigure tomcat to ditch random for urandom completely [still getting econnreset]
- continue conversation with sysadmin, tester, analyst, 2 PMs, infra architect, junior dev
- provide immediate support for analyst and tester as soon as they need it
- provide support to another dev on another project
and that's my today's todo list. I think I need more personalities [more threads] to keep going -
Recently took over a freelance project to update an existing app, and this thing is full of comments like "TODO: Remove This" with no context. So hard to work with.
For the love of God, add some context to your comments. Especially if someone else is going to be seeing your code. -
Any good advice for managing junior developers?
In my experience I have found that loose definitions of work to be completed yields poor results. Honestly, sometimes I wonder if I have to write the code structure and leave a bunch of TODO comments for people to fill in.
Or alternatively people get going on tangents without thinking of the concrete problem given.
Or go try building generic abstractions that are unneeded and will not be reused complicating even the simplest use case.
Maybe the problem is in me and that I am not clear in communicating what's needed. What techniques do you guys use to get more or less what you want?7 -
Fuckin damn it Google! I setup a transparent proxy and for some fucking reason Google home doesn't like that at all. I think I have a fix but it's a real fucking pain in the ass. I call your support people who I specifically tell that I'm running a fucking proxy and they tell me that I need to talk to their Google WiFi team. It has nothing Todo with my fucking wifi bitch. Its your price of shit price of crap hardware that doesn't like fucking proxies.
I'll update everyone what the fix is when I find it.
Btw, this is a HTTPS transparent proxy and HTTP transparent proxy running on my pFSense firewall box.5 -
Fuck... What am i doing with my life... 3years of college down the road learning android and nothing else, currently neither fully graduate nor employed. Can't make an app bigger or more useful than a fucking todo, can't use my skills to earn, Currently earning not even a penny, parents fighting everyday, struggling to make a living , am a fucking waste :'/
Those open sourcing assholes have awesome apps that i want to read, understand and fix their code, but they aren't gonna pay me shit. Plus they were the ones to have the guts to make full scale apps and open sourcing them, i can't make shit without giving them a month. How am i gonna survive 😔3 -
I want a devRant iPad app.
All it really needs to be is a streaming feed with the slide-out menu static on the left. I'd be happy with that.
Pretty simple, but obviously not critical. I just hope it's on the //TODO list. I'd enjoy it (especially if it supported multitasking).
But don't feel as though you should support the 12.9-inch Pro because lol fuck that monstrosity.8 -
Can i just get a simple consistent react tutorial that goes step by step even when consuming an API...
IS THAT SO HARD TO ASK FOR? -
When I started coding, I thought that TODO came from Spanish "todo" : "everything" / "all". As in, write all of your code here. The entire project has become a TODO5
-
On an interview they told me to do a simple Todo app with angular and one of them said cheat if you want but just get it don't in a week! 😒1
-
Best? Anything half-decent is the best thing ever since it exists and is okay. Worst? "//TODO" or fucking nothing entirely. (Alternatively: paid-only "please buy this hardcover book" docs!)2
-
Note to self for later: whenever I git push something from any side project, next time just add a TODO list so I don't loose time to remember what the fuck I was doing
-
Comment introduced by a commit 3 years ago before an empty function:

For all the react developers.
I just started learning react 3 months ago and I made a simple crud todo-list with express and MySQL, I want to make a good app that will help me in my job search, so pls suggest me something.4 -
When comments find their way to class tests:
“TODO: Finish conjugation of montre in the whole text”. I had no idea of the conjugation and finished under time pressure so this stayed in the class test (gave it back last second) and I was well aware of it.
Just wondering what the teacher must have thought. Didn’t say (or write) a word about it tho.
Should see if someone tweeted or posted this (I mean someone wrote a book only with examples of stuff like this)
Idk, I should ask if I’m allowed to write class test in an IDE. And set MARK, TODO, etc. Would make them a lot easier.30 -
var devSessionMusic = new SpotifyPlaylist();

When you are sitting there for 5 hours just looking for those stupid lines:
> (* TODO: fix this, fix that *) -
Does anyone know a good todo app? I' searching someting _simple_, so no kanban board whatsoever.
I only want a way to do simple lists.
I'm looking for a mobile app, if it has cloud synchronization or even a desktop app, that's an absolute bonus. Also, while we're on that topic, self hosted would be reeeeaaaally cool (but again no must)6 -
Wanna create an app over the weekend to learn react-native, any ideas ? I think a minimalist todo app would be a good starting point .1
-
You stupid tester first add you freaking requirements and not just put back stories on todo and say it's not finished. You are just testing how an web app works. We can also automate that process you know!!!!

I would like to supercharge my workflow this year. I want to setup a slack team for our clients in order to help track task progress better. I would like to integrate slack with Trello in order to use boards. I would also like to integrate an email bot that clients can forward todo emails to and then convert these to Trello Todos. I know how to integrate bots but how can I convert emails from the email bot to Trello todos? Do I need to create a bot of my own for that?1

I start testing a new NodeJS framework for, I'm still quite of guy who doesn't like JavaScript in the backend (for me still a quite poor language for a lot of operations). But where I'm working now they use NodeJS (in a very pigsty way to be honest), so I decide to refactor and rewrite the application and start search about frameworks, I'm particularly huge fan of Laravel and PHP for web development and I found a framework called AdonisJS, it's amazing, the ecosystem is very stable and solid.
I start to apply some nice concepts also in the simple Todo List that I'm doing (repository pattern, resources controllers and etc).
I'm really like, you can check on my github profile https://github.com/Messhias/...
Someone is already used this framework for a real business application? I'm liking a lot to play with it.11 -
🙋 Any fancy app idea I could build for trying out React on web and React Native for mobile? Kinda cool and something you always wanted to build but never got to it. #sayNoToTodos5

Org-mode vs. taskwarrior vs. Vim-Org-mode?
Anyone experienced with Cli Todo/Project management?
I am looking for something Cli based with the ability to sync across machines/mobile phones and found these left on the list after some research.
Can anyone share experience with one or some of these tools?
How would your work flow look like?
Are there alternatives I may have missed? -
Remarked out code which has been commented out since 2015, now been checked in with a simple line comment of todo above it .....
-
How do you guys like to name things, do you prefer being specific/verbose or generic? Say, we have a vue component to which we need to pass props. Would you prefer:
<todo-list todo-model="TodoModel" />
or rather:
<todo-list model="TodoModel" />
For me, the first is easier to search for, the other is more elegant and decouples what is happening from why is it happening.5 -
Todo: write rant about fs not not being a functional node_module and dotenv still trying to require() it.
Add details about the whole hour you lost because of that. -
The Todo App is such a simple example that for a lot of libraries/frameworks it does very little to give me confidence that it's useful in large scale applications. So the solution is always get stuck in using the thing, hope the community are active enough to help answer questions and that the whole thing isn't a waste of time.4

Pomodoro technique but with 52min stretches and 15 min breaks.
For avoiding procrastination: create 2 Todo lists every day before leaving work, one for small tasks to be done first thing in the morning and others throughout the day.1 -
Org-mode as it has the potential to change your life :-)
Astonishing in how many different areas it beats the tools I used before.
From todo lists, documentation, publications or even presentations it ruled out my old workflows and the journey is not over . -
I resigned from my job, and now there are 6 weeks left at my old desk, until I can leave and jump into a new world.
Now, I have done all points on my checklist/todo-list and I'am now surfing the web all day long.
Any suggestions for websites to learn something / interessting reads?5 -
What do people here use to 'manage' projects in small teams?
Im currently working in a team of 2 and using gitlab for git and using the changelog for changes and todo stuff.
Its working 'alright' but its still a bit of a hassle specialy for 2 persons.
People here use other tools that are faster to use etc?3 -
That feeling when you finally get to tackle that "temp fix" hardcoded TODO smell that you had to put as a band-aid

I need to organize myself a little, coz I'm having problems remembering things to do, so what's your fav to do / organize app?7

My god why are there 10000 ways to do the same thing in javascript? I just want to make a simple todo app without library and don't know which route to go...10

Guys, need your ideas/advice.
I myself am out of ideas here. The 'problem': I started learning React 5-6 weeks ago, made news app, weather app and... that's it. What else should be in every react dev portfolio? Todo app doesn't count. Too easy. ;)
Thanks!2 -
What are some good wunderlist replacement in Mac? What note taking/todo apps are you currently using and why?
I have Fantastical 2 and Boostnote. Heard that Taylor Otwell uses Bear (not cross platform/apple eco system only)
Currently I'm checking/testing out Onenote Mac app and so far it is good. Next I'll check ticktick and any.do
Thanks! :)6 -
Can somebody please explain to me what this company does?
https://www.signavio.com/
Its kinda technical mumbo jumbo for processes?
Appearantly its pretty much worth because they been bought up by sap.
Sorry if it does not belong here. But i really dont understand these management process optimization tools and why they should be so important? We do our stuff with confluence and jira and thats it. But we are also a software conpany nothing todo with hardware...6 -
Xcode UI test recording is fucking abysmal. For a simple tutorial "todo" app that I wanted to add a test to, it generated a completely imaginary toolbar selector, a syntactically incomplete eight-line garbage monstrosity instead a button selector, and entirely missed off the last action.
Don't get me wrong, I really like that there is a way to automate UI tests, but the promise of test recording is massive fucking lie.1 -
Any suggestions for a Trello like app / software which I can use to track my personal schedule ?
A ToDo list like Evernote or Google Keep is just not good enough.6 -
what are you all using for static site generations? like I am planning todo a collection of links/resources/knowledge for personal use. Would do it with markdown and heard about https://www.11ty.dev/docs/ and jekyll, can you recommend me some others?5

It feels good to jot down tasks for the day in the first 5 minutes of coming to office. I know what needs to be done for the day and what was accomplished the previous day. Also I tend to be on proper track during daily standup. So maintaining a work related TODO list helps a lot.
